- 0:00Speaker 1: I thought I wanted a martini yesterday. I hadn't had
- 0:03Speaker 1: a martini in a long time. So I stopped at
- 0:06Speaker 1: the liquor store and I bought a handle of cheap
- 0:11Speaker 1: gin because I like cheap gin because it tastes more
- 0:14Speaker 1: like Christmas tree than you prefer cheap gin. Yeah, I do,
- 0:18Speaker 1: kind of yeah, because I like the real juniper e
- 0:21Speaker 1: and more you know your uh, your your higher engines.
- 0:25Speaker 1: Most of them they have botanicals, and the more you know,
- 0:28Speaker 1: they try to get away from that juniper flavor so much.
- 0:32Speaker 1: So I bought a handle of gin and some vermouth,
- 0:35Speaker 1: and I went home and I was gonna Now, I
- 0:38Speaker 1: like my martini's shaken, not stirred, because I know you,
- 0:42Speaker 1: James Bond, No, because I disagree with you on this.
- 0:45Speaker 1: I know he says you really should stir them, but
- 0:48Speaker 1: I like him shaken because they get colder that way,
- 0:52Speaker 1: they get crystals form. And so I I got get home,
- 0:58Speaker 1: I get my bottle of gin in my bottle of remouth,
- 1:01Speaker 1: and I have rummerged around in the fridge and find
- 1:04Speaker 1: some olives and owing some cocktail onions. I like both
- 1:09Speaker 1: and uh, And then I said, where where's my where's
- 1:13Speaker 1: my martini shaker? Where? Why isn't my martini shaker here? Where?
- 1:18Speaker 1: It normally is the space on the counter that we
- 1:22Speaker 1: call a liquor cabinet, but it's just a space on
- 1:24Speaker 1: the counter. Why where? And my wife said, oh, oh,
- 1:29Speaker 1: I'm sorry, I lent your martini shaker to my sister
- 1:34Speaker 1: for a cat photo shoot. Paining what Yeah, I went,
- 1:43Speaker 1: I lent your martini shaker to my sister for a
- 1:46Speaker 1: for a kiddy photo shoot.
- 1:48Speaker 2: You so kitty dressed up like a bartender.
- 1:52Speaker 1: You know, I don't know. I didn't ask. I should
- 1:55Speaker 1: probably see if I could get that.
- 1:57Speaker 2: That's a sentence that demands a follow us.
- 1:59Speaker 1: My sister works huge the Humane Society, my sister in
- 2:04Speaker 1: law and uh so, I think they were featuring a cat.
- 2:08Speaker 1: And now I don't know why they wanted a cat
- 2:11Speaker 1: with a martini shaker. His name is Martini. Well I
- 2:16Speaker 1: bet he was a tuxedo cat. I'll bet. Yeah. I
- 2:20Speaker 1: haven't gotten a follow up on this yet, but it's
- 2:24Speaker 1: a it's a so I had to so I had
- 2:27Speaker 1: to have my martini stirred and not shaken, which was
- 2:31Speaker 1: which was sad. But I hope the kiddy got use
- 2:35Speaker 1: of the I'll have my martini shaker back today, I think,
- 2:40Speaker 1: unless they need it.
- 2:41Speaker 2: From several people are now weighing in.
- 2:44Speaker 1: You know it as well.
- 2:46Speaker 2: We nothing gets a cat adopted like a cocktail shaker, right.
- 2:51Speaker 1: Because they actually say for adoptions.
- 2:54Speaker 2: It's true, the better better.
- 2:57Speaker 1: The more likely they are to get adopted. But I'm
- 3:00Speaker 1: sure they were staging some some clever little you know.
- 3:02Speaker 2: Now people want to know, did you just use tupperware
- 3:05Speaker 2: or what did you do to No?
- 3:06Speaker 1: I just I just I put it in a glass,
- 3:11Speaker 1: two glasses.
- 3:12Speaker 2: Also, we are demanding photos. Yeah, you got to follow
- 3:16Speaker 2: up with this.
- 3:16Speaker 1: I'll see if I can get them. I'll try and
- 3:19Speaker 1: get them.
- 3:19Speaker 2: Yeah, but it's somebody says Bill loves him small of smallest.
- 3:24Speaker 1: I love smallst I like some onions too.
- 3:28Speaker 2: Doesn't that make it a gimblet Gibson's.
- 3:32Speaker 1: It's a Gibson named after Ambassador Gibson. You know the story. No,
- 3:37Speaker 1: he was an ambassador in Washington, d C. I guess,
- 3:40Speaker 1: and some I don't know, the United States ambassador to something.
- 3:43Speaker 1: And he would hold cocktail parties for dignitaries and heads
- 3:46Speaker 1: of state and so at cocktail party, you know, there'd
- 3:50Speaker 1: be waiters going around with trays of martinis, and people
- 3:54Speaker 1: would get drunk and spill secrets and things like that,
- 3:56Speaker 1: and but he wanted to keep a clear head, so
- 3:58Speaker 1: he said, make my martine, not a martini, it's just
- 4:03Speaker 1: it's just water. But put an onion in mine so
- 4:07Speaker 1: that I know which one to take. Nobody will want that. Yeah,
- 4:10Speaker 1: put an onion, onion, water, cocktail onion in mine. I
- 4:14Speaker 1: know which one to take, Ambassador Gibson said. And so
- 4:17Speaker 1: that's why it's a Gibson all right. Yeah, I don't
- 4:22Speaker 1: think Jimmy taught me that. I knew that before before
- 4:24Speaker 1: I mentioned.
- 4:25Speaker 2: We don't have a cocktail shaker anymore.
- 4:27Speaker 1: What, No, we just we use use it.
- 4:29Speaker 2: No we if we if we demand that sort of
- 4:32Speaker 2: a shaking situation, you just use two glasses.
- 4:37Speaker 1: Yeah, I yeah, part of the me. That actually part
- 4:41Speaker 1: of the reason I like the shaker. And if it's
- 4:44Speaker 1: not back today, I'll do I'll try that with the glasses.
- 4:47Speaker 1: But I like the shaker because the metal gets it
- 4:50Speaker 1: even colder.
- 4:51Speaker 2: It does, however, it alters, you know, when it gets cold,
- 4:56Speaker 2: it changes and makes it so the lid is next
- 4:59Speaker 2: to him possible to get off.
- 5:02Speaker 1: Well I have I have my Lewis bag and my mallet,
- 5:07Speaker 1: my wooden mallet, so for I So you put the
- 5:10Speaker 1: ice in the canvas bag and you pound it with
- 5:12Speaker 1: the mallet wooden mallet. So if the lid is stuck
- 5:15Speaker 1: on the cocktail shaker at all, you just tap it
- 5:18Speaker 1: with the wooden mallet. The metal cocktails and this all
- 5:22Speaker 1: just
