- 0:02some of my clients journeys of getting into flight and how they
- 0:05utilize coaching to help them create success of getting hired
- 0:08with less confusion and more ease.
- 0:10Make your dream a reality of getting into flight.
- 0:12Listen in as you hear some of the stories of the people
- 0:14getting there and come join the flight prep group.
- 0:17Hey you guys, welcome to podcast episode 143 titled Celebrations
- 0:23Today. I felt like it was really
- 0:25fitting to talk to you about something that we do inside of
- 0:30my programs and pretty frequently with my one-on-one
- 0:33clients too. We always start every call with
- 0:38what are some wins updates? What are some things that you're
- 0:41proud of? This is something that I've been
- 0:44trying to practice in my life in the last year.
- 0:50Yeah, I think it's really easy to become the person who beats
- 0:55themselves up, and I spent a lot of time doing this, and I can
- 0:59still kind of go in and out of my own thoughts.
- 1:01It's really easy to be kind to other people, but being kind to
- 1:04ourselves, especially in moments that are really tough, can be
- 1:08hard. And this is something that I
- 1:11have actually been practicing on a regular basis that if in any
- 1:15moment I'm feeling down or I'm experiencing a lot of
- 1:20disappointment or I can just feel myself being really low for
- 1:22the day, I talk about what I'm really proud of.
- 1:26And this is just like kind of another way of saying what
- 1:29you're grateful for. And sometimes gratitude isn't
- 1:32easy for me to get to. And so sometimes I just have to
- 1:36think about what are some things that I'm really proud of.
- 1:39I spent the earlier half of today doing a photo shoot for
- 1:46something that's going to be coming out soon for you guys, a
- 1:49new offer. And I'm not ready to share that
- 1:52with you guys yet, but it is coming soon.
- 1:54And I'm just really excited to share this with you and bring it
- 1:58to you guys. And so that's why I really
- 2:00thought that today was a good episode to talk about
- 2:03celebrations. Doing this fold photo shoot was
- 2:06kind of a culmination of where I've come in my identity as a
- 2:10coach in the last four years of running my coaching program.
- 2:14And I just remember timid little me going from being a nurse for
- 2:18so long, doing flight nursing for almost 7 years, and then
- 2:22really knowing that I had this deep desire to grow a business
- 2:26to help more people who wanted to get in flight and just give
- 2:29them to the tools of life coaching that I had learned
- 2:32through the Life Coach school when I was certified.
- 2:35And I remember the extreme amount of fear, just fear of am
- 2:40I making the right decision for my family?
- 2:43I'm carrying this financial decision of making really good
- 2:47money as a flight nurse. And now really, you know, I had
- 2:51several one-on-one clients at the time and I think it was
- 2:55already running groups as well. And so income was coming in, but
- 2:58it wasn't nearly as close as what I was making as a flight
- 3:01nurse. And so this was a big time in my
- 3:03life where I had to take a leap into an identity that I wasn't
- 3:06yet And, and, and financially, you know, the pressure that came
- 3:12along with it. And I really, in that moment,
- 3:17decided to step into the next version of where I wanted to be
- 3:22in five years because I thought to myself, in five years, what
- 3:27do I want to look back and be so proud of?
- 3:30And I knew my oldest was getting ready to graduate and my twins
- 3:33weren't that far behind. And I really wanted to spend
- 3:37some of their last high school years really getting the
- 3:40opportunity to go to all of their swim meets, their water
- 3:43polo games, and just spend more time with them before I knew
- 3:47ultimately they were going to be moving out of the house.
- 3:50And so I knew I wanted to create this life.
- 3:53And I could just feel this pole in this direction to really
- 3:58coach people and then specifically nurses and medics
- 4:02who wanted to get to this flight goal, really help mentor them
- 4:05and support them and getting to their goals and dreams.
- 4:07And so this was a big leap and I felt myself step into who I
- 4:16wanted to be 4 years ago now and everything that I wanted to
- 4:23create four years ago for my five year future.
- 4:28Back then when I left, I mean, I guess I left flight.
- 4:31It's only been two years since I left flight full time because I
- 4:34was still, I started my, my life coaching business while I was
- 4:40still flying, went part time then per DM and then left
- 4:42totally. But it's only been two years
- 4:44since I left full time. And I remember thinking about
- 4:47where do I want to be in five years?
- 4:49And I am already that person in two.
- 4:53And I'm just so proud of taking a chance on myself and saying,
- 4:56hey, I'm not that person yet, but this is who I want to be.
- 5:00This is what I want and this is where I want to go.
- 5:03And so I want, it's been like a pivotal realization for me doing
- 5:08this photo shoot today, getting ready to, you know, bring out a
- 5:11new offer to you guys and just step into my next version of me
- 5:16to have cut that timeline of where I wanted to be two years
- 5:19ago. I wanted to be who I wanted to
- 5:22be in five years to only two. And now I'm starting to think,
- 5:25who do I want to be in the next 10 years?
- 5:28And I really think that this new offer is going to represent
- 5:31where I'm going. And I just want to offer you
- 5:36guys to do the same, to feel the inspiration of being able to
- 5:42allow yourself to be proud, to step into the next version of
- 5:46yourself, to step into your next identity with, with fear, with
- 5:54doubt, with hopefulness, with desire and motivation.
- 6:00And I just want to offer you guys, it's going to start with
- 6:03what you're proud of now. And that's why you know, I can
- 6:08so easily be pulled from the future that I'm going to, not
- 6:11from the fact that I think it's going to be better in the
- 6:12future. It's not better once I get
- 6:14there. It's just allowing myself to ask
- 6:19myself what I deeply desire, but then also feel proud of where
- 6:23I've come from, where I am now, and where I am going.
- 6:26And I want to invite you guys to do the same.
- 6:29I want to invite you guys to be pulled from your future, to
- 6:34think about where you want to be, what you want to do, the
- 6:38identity you want to be, your goals, your dreams, your deepest
- 6:41desires. What highly motivates you when
- 6:44you can think about having anything that you want.
- 6:47What would that look like, even if it's different from you now
- 6:51and to really be pulled from the future that you want to become
- 6:54because it's possible and you can do it.
- 6:57And, and, and the, and the more you can latch onto that
- 7:01identity, the quicker you're going to get there.
- 7:02And I really do believe that when I set the goal to be this
- 7:07life coach with 100 clients in one program, when I set that
- 7:12goal two years ago for five years in my future, the reason
- 7:17why I've gotten here before the five years is because I've
- 7:19adapted that identity quicker. And a couple things that I want
- 7:24to offer you guys that might be helpful in your journey too, is
- 7:28what's helped me along that way, along with like celebrating and
- 7:31allowing myself to feel proud, is also learning to embrace my
- 7:35weaknesses. Learning to say, hey, this is
- 7:38what I'm really weak at. Hey, I've never been a life
- 7:42coach before. I've never created programs
- 7:44before. I'm going to be weak at it.
- 7:47And then also loving my strengths and the parts of me
- 7:51that I really hold dear, the parts of me that I feel like I'm
- 7:57so proud of. And for me, it comes down to my
- 7:59values. It comes down to integrity,
- 8:02transparency, loyalty. I think these are all things
- 8:05that made me a really good flight nurse and a really good
- 8:08nurse. And these are the things that I
- 8:09really dug deep into for my programs and for the people that
- 8:13I'm helping. And for you guys who are
- 8:16listening to this podcast, that's really, I leaned into my
- 8:20strengths and then also embraced my weaknesses and has extreme
- 8:23compassion for them. I also want to offer you don't
- 8:28be afraid to get really clear about what those are.
- 8:31I think when I could stare my weaknesses in the face, both as
- 8:36a nurse and as a life coach, it made me understand like, yes,
- 8:39these are my weaknesses. Some of the things might always
- 8:42be my weakness and it's OK. Like there's just things I'm not
- 8:46good at. There's things that I may never
- 8:48get good at and then there's things that I can continue to
- 8:50strive to be better at, but getting clear about what those
- 8:53are and also being OK with them I think is really key to
- 8:56stepping into the future. You.
- 8:59One thing that I want to acknowledge as well is that you
- 9:02have to be willing to go first. I got a lot of Flack from really
- 9:07leaving nursing in general, especially a high paying job and
- 9:13one that I had been working my whole nursing career to get to
- 9:17and one that I deeply enjoyed. You know, I really left that
- 9:20career before I felt like I was ready and I was just really
- 9:23pulled by my future self telling me that was a leap I needed to
- 9:26make when I was doing it. What I kept equating it to was I
- 9:32don't know, I was thinking like a a coach or like a pro athletic
- 9:36coach, whereas like sometimes they sometimes people are
- 9:43playing it like, let's just say the NFL, like high athletic in
- 9:47the NFL athletes and they get injured and that's what takes
- 9:51them out. And sometimes they leave out
- 9:54with a bang and they leave because they're on the top of
- 9:57their game and then they retire. And that's really how I wanted
- 10:01to go out in flight. I wanted to go out with a bang,
- 10:05wanting to go out really still loving the job and helping
- 10:09increase the desire and motivation for other people to
- 10:12get there and go out on my own terms.
- 10:15Even when I didn't feel ready because of the future, I was
- 10:17pulled by and that took a lot of what's the word I'm looking for
- 10:27trust in myself and also being willing to be the leader and go
- 10:341st and listen to my desire. Even though I had fear, even
- 10:38though I had doubt, even though I felt imposter syndrome to step
- 10:41into this life coach role and even when the people that I
- 10:47thought would come with me didn't necessarily believe in
- 10:51me, I held that belief for them. Another thing that I'm really
- 10:55proud of and I hope that like these things examples I give you
- 10:59give you examples in your life is I now can look back my my
- 11:04oldest is going to be 20 on Sunday and my twins are going to
- 11:07be 18. They all three had the same
- 11:10birthday. My twins were born on my oldest
- 11:11birthday. And so it's just really neat to
- 11:15be able to to have them all celebrate on the same day while
- 11:19it is also exhausting. But I just remember how hard it
- 11:23was going through nursing school with three kids under the age of
- 11:26two. My oldest was 2.
- 11:28I just had my twins. I think they were like 5 months
- 11:30old when I started nursing school.
- 11:32I worked full time in the ICU and then I went to nursing
- 11:36school the other four days in didactics and clinicals.
- 11:40And then as soon as I graduated nursing school, my very first
- 11:44day on the ICU as a new grad, I found out I was pregnant with my
- 11:494th, surprisingly. And I just look back on that
- 11:55time and I am just so proud, so proud of getting through the
- 12:01hard time acknowledging, like for some of you guys, I know you
- 12:04know, this nursing school is the hardest time.
- 12:07It's like the hardest that you've ever worked.
- 12:09And I'm just so proud of myself for taking the initiative to
- 12:12say, nursing is what I want and I'm going to get through it and
- 12:16I'm going to do it. And it's not going to be easy,
- 12:19but I can do the hard. And I think that moment really
- 12:23helped me grow my capacity to do hard things and, and really
- 12:26propelled me into who I who I became as a critical care nurse
- 12:30and eventually who I became as a flight nurse because I allowed
- 12:34I, I wasn't afraid of the hard. I didn't shy away from it.
- 12:37I just allowed myself to tell myself I could do it and that I
- 12:40would figure it out. I allowed myself to want to work
- 12:46and get to my dream of flight. I get asked all the time how was
- 12:52it having kids, young kids and working full time and doing
- 12:58flight and working 24 hour shifts and to me honestly it was
- 13:02the best ride ever. I felt like it was so important
- 13:07to me for my kids to see an example of their parent really
- 13:12going for their goals and dreams.
- 13:14Really knowing that it's and showing them there is a
- 13:18struggle. It's not easy, but showing them
- 13:22and giving them examples of if, if whatever you want, even if
- 13:28it's hard, you can do it and you can do it together as a family
- 13:32and as a team. And honestly, there were hard
- 13:35moments, but I always, I didn't put the pressure of having
- 13:40children on myself. Like people ask me that.
- 13:42I'm like, I'm, what do you mean? I'm like, nursing was the best
- 13:45job ever. I had four days off when I
- 13:47worked in the hospital, only worked three days.
- 13:49I worked nights, so I was still home during the day when I
- 13:52needed to be. I was tired, but that was OK.
- 13:54And then when I went into flight nursing, 24 hour shifts was a
- 13:58dream for me because I went from working 12 hour shifts in the
- 14:02hospital to 7 to 824 hour shifts a month.
- 14:05And then I also had five days off in a row.
- 14:07So I really felt like it was my opportunity to be it like almost
- 14:12a full time stay at home mom really with the five days off in
- 14:15a row and I could help out in my kids class and still have a full
- 14:19time job and one that I really loved going to.
- 14:22And it was just a good outlet, too, from me being outside a mom
- 14:26of four to really doing something that I love.
- 14:30And I think that's so important to portray to your kids.
- 14:34Now that I'm going to have three adult kids, I really tell them,
- 14:38you know what, go after what you love.
- 14:42Maybe it's not school, maybe it's not the standardized way of
- 14:45doing things. Maybe it's entrepreneurship, but
- 14:49go after the thing that you love because I promise you it's going
- 14:52to be worth it. And so I think it's because I've
- 14:56always been able to have like just the greatest thoughts about
- 14:59what's it like to raise a family and be the example of going
- 15:03after your goals and your dreams.
- 15:05And we just always made it work and it was fun.
- 15:08And I included my kids and a lot of the flight stuff.
- 15:11They got to visit me on the base and see the helicopter.
- 15:14And it was just so cool to integrate my dream and love and
- 15:19both being a mom at the same time.
- 15:22And I just wanted to offer you guys the same thing.
- 15:26I think it really matters to go first.
- 15:29I think it really matters to show your children and your
- 15:32family examples of what it's like to follow what you want and
- 15:35what you deeply desire. I think it's really important to
- 15:38allow yourself to dream big. And I also think it's important
- 15:44to show your kids the example of the hardship, the joy, the love
- 15:48of getting to what you want and, and, and that it's all worth it.
- 15:52Because life isn't always easy. Even if you do take the easy
- 15:57route, even if you do stay comfortable and you don't go
- 15:59after the big dream, it's still not easy.
- 16:02It's even harder because then you feel stuck and then you tell
- 16:06yourself I should be doing more and you probably should be
- 16:09because you're not working towards your goals and your
- 16:12dreams and you're telling yourself it's going to be
- 16:14harder. But I just want to offer you
- 16:16guys it is harder to stay where you are and to feel stuck and to
- 16:20work in a department that you don't like.
- 16:23And I want to encourage you guys as you're dreaming big to have
- 16:29fun with this part. This is where you get to create
- 16:32and give yourself permission to do it exactly how you want to do
- 16:37it. And remember, nothing is the
- 16:40wrong way. You don't have to be the A
- 16:41student, just really take time. If you could like take a moment
- 16:45and just say, if I could have any job in the world, if I could
- 16:48do anything in the world, what would that be?
- 16:51And really taking time to acknowledge that this is what I
- 16:53did the last six months and this is the offer that I'm going to
- 16:57be creating that has come from this.
- 16:58And so I'm really excited to be sharing this with you guys soon.
- 17:03And I want you guys to know that it doesn't have to feel good
- 17:07while you're jumping into the next level of yourself or while
- 17:10you're switching identities. You just have to feel aligned
- 17:14with your purpose. Immediately.
- 17:16When I decided to create this new offer for you guys, lots of
- 17:19fear came up and I thought, am I ready?
- 17:22Do people want this? And I just just feel so aligned
- 17:26with my purpose. I feel so aligned with this is
- 17:29what's needed right now in the world and it's going to feel
- 17:34feel hard and I know I'm going to have fear, but I also want to
- 17:37encourage you guys because I know this for myself and I know
- 17:40this for you guys too. We can do hard if you can get
- 17:44through nursing school, if you can get through healthcare, if
- 17:48you can see and do the things that we do, you know, hard and
- 17:53hard is where we grow. Hard is where we find out what
- 17:57we're made of. Hard is where we grow our
- 17:59capability and our capacity, and I think there's an opportunity
- 18:03to get to your goals and to flight without the pressure.
- 18:07I think one of the big reasons I got to flight in the way that I
- 18:10did and how I was able to do it with so much love and
- 18:15compassion, being a mom and with my family and not feeling guilty
- 18:18about it, is because I didn't allow myself to have the
- 18:22pressure of I need to get there. I got to make the money.
- 18:24I got to do the thing. I got to get to the dream.
- 18:26I told myself, I know I'm going to get there.
- 18:29I want this for me and I want this for my kids.
- 18:32And when I get there, I am going to help other people get there.
- 18:36And so taking sometimes I think we have to remember, let's take
- 18:40the pressure off ourselves. And the pressure starts with how
- 18:42are we talking about our dreams? How are we talking about our
- 18:45goals? Are we ready to talk about them
- 18:47in a loving way that drops the pressure?
- 18:51It's like the example of saying I need to do this versus like I
- 18:55deeply desire to do this. And that's what I've been
- 18:59telling myself the last six months as I've gone back and
- 19:02forth of like, am I ready to integrate in a new offer?
- 19:04I've always been a flight coach for the last four years.
- 19:07Am I ready to integrate something else in?
- 19:09And I really am pulled my my desire and this really big
- 19:14motivation to fill this need in this world.
- 19:17And I'm thinking about the next version of me now.
- 19:20I'm thinking about where who do I want to be?
- 19:25What's identity that I want to be in the next 10 years?
- 19:28And it's scary creating it all over again.
- 19:31And I'm really just working on believing in her and acting like
- 19:35her every day. And it feels like right now,
- 19:38it's hard. It feels like it's put, I'm
- 19:39putting in a lot of effort to be her.
- 19:41But I know the more I do that, that one day it will just click
- 19:46and it'll be easy for me to step into her before I have achieved
- 19:50her. And this is how you get to your
- 19:52goals ahead of time. This is how you level up into
- 19:54your next identity before the five years and two years like I
- 19:58did before you become here. You don't have to feel ready.
- 20:03You don't have to feel confident.
- 20:04In fact, it feels scary, but so does staying in the same place,
- 20:09especially when you know you are ready.
- 20:12And I just really want to again, say loving ourselves, being
- 20:16proud of our goal, connecting to what we truly want, releasing
- 20:20the pressure is available to us. And this comes from the person
- 20:24who puts a lot of pressure on herself.
- 20:25I'm just like learning to talk to myself different without the
- 20:30pressure, with just so much love and compassion.
- 20:33And I just want to offer you guys, if you knew you were going
- 20:35to get there no matter what, would you want to do it with
- 20:39high levels of pressure or with love?
- 20:41And that's a question I continue to ask myself.
- 20:44And what I tell myself is I have a choice and I give myself
- 20:47permission to do it with love and to feel proud.
- 20:50And I'm going to invite you guys to do the same this year as we
- 20:53work hard, as we level up, as we step into who we want to be
- 20:57ahead of time. I am in it with you guys.
- 20:59And you guys can follow along with me and feel my drive as I'm
- 21:03working towards it. And I just want to invite you
- 21:07guys to do the same. Celebrate, be proud of yourself,
- 21:10where you are, where you've come from, and where you're going.
- 21:13And on the day that this drops, we are going to be doing the
- 21:16Flight Prep Academy preview calls the following week.
- 21:19It's going to be Monday, February 9th, Wednesday,
- 21:21February 11th, and Thursday, February 12th.
- 21:24On each of those calls, you are going to get an insight of what
- 21:27it's like to be on a weekly calls inside the Flight Prep
- 21:29Academy and there's going to be a small teaching portion at the
- 21:32beginning and then you're going to get the opportunity to see
- 21:34what coaching is like. People from the Flight Prep
- 21:37Academy are going to join us. You're going to watch them get
- 21:39coached and anyone can come on and get coaching on their flight
- 21:41plan as well. My goal for you is that you
- 21:44create deep desire and motivation to just go for this
- 21:47goal, that you get to see what it's like to be a member inside
- 21:51the flight Prep Academy, get the support, get the community and
- 21:54be on these calls. I'm going to put the link inside
- 21:58this preview for or inside the show notes for the podcast.
- 22:03Just click on the link. You can register for the days.
- 22:05You can come to all three of them or just come to one or just
- 22:08come to what works for you. But if you know flight is your
