- 0:40SPEAKER_05: What's up, brother?
- 0:40SPEAKER_05: What's up?
- 0:40SPEAKER_05: What's up?
- 0:41SPEAKER_05: Fresh off the bye.
- 0:42SPEAKER_03: Fresh off the bye.
- 0:43SPEAKER_05: Fresh off the bye.
- 0:44SPEAKER_03: Man, listen, the bye week came and it went.
- 0:47SPEAKER_03: Yep.
- 0:47SPEAKER_03: It's over with.
- 0:48SPEAKER_03: Now we got to get into it, obviously.
- 0:50SPEAKER_03: First and foremost, how you feeling after the bye week?
- 0:52SPEAKER_03: How'd you spend your bye week?
- 0:54SPEAKER_03: What was yeah, what did the week look like for you, my man?
- 0:57SPEAKER_05: I was chilling.
- 0:58SPEAKER_05: I didn't do shit.
- 0:59SPEAKER_05: I was chilling.
- 1:00SPEAKER_05: And it felt so good to just be able to relax, man.
- 1:03SPEAKER_05: Uh physically get away from the game a little bit, mentally still into it.
- 1:07SPEAKER_05: You know, I spent a little bit of time getting ahead on a few of our opponents that we got coming up.
- 1:12SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 1:12SPEAKER_05: Uh you know, which is gonna be some exciting football uh for us.
- 1:17SPEAKER_05: Um other than that, I beat Wolverine the video game.
- 1:21SPEAKER_05: Okay, had a little bit of free time to do that.
- 1:23SPEAKER_05: So I beat Wolverine the video game, which was I feel like pretty dope, even though people were uh dogging it online.
- 1:29SPEAKER_05: Um that's really it though, man.
- 1:32SPEAKER_05: My my bye week was was very chill.
- 1:35SPEAKER_05: Very chill.
- 1:35SPEAKER_05: It was good vibes.
- 1:36SPEAKER_05: Did you still go on to the to the stadium and work out and whatnot?
- 1:39SPEAKER_05: Yeah, got my workouts in.
- 1:41SPEAKER_05: Um other than that though, like it was overall, it was just full of relaxation, I guess you could say.
- 1:46SPEAKER_05: Yeah, man.
- 1:47SPEAKER_05: I love that, bro.
- 1:48SPEAKER_03: You know, so funny, during the when you guys take a bye week, I took a bye week.
- 1:51SPEAKER_03: That's when I took a break from our show.
- 1:52SPEAKER_03: You know, Daniel went back to California.
- 1:54SPEAKER_03: Oh, I kind of just chilled here and and kind of just I played Madden, bro.
- 1:59SPEAKER_03: And how like what kind of Madden?
- 2:01SPEAKER_03: Like franchise mode, you know, and been cooking.
- 2:04SPEAKER_03: Can't lie, I've been cooking.
- 2:05SPEAKER_05: So, how many seasons?
- 2:07SPEAKER_03: I am now, this is going into my fourth year as the coach of the Cincinnati Bengals.
- 2:13SPEAKER_03: Okay, and I am happy to report I have three Super Bowl rings, three MVPs.
- 2:19SPEAKER_03: Three in a row, three in a row.
- 2:21SPEAKER_03: Wow, I'm trying to build a dynasty, bro.
- 2:23SPEAKER_05: It sounds like you have.
- 2:25SPEAKER_03: You know, you know, you know, I once I get to four, and you know, I'm feeling like all right, okay.
- 2:31SPEAKER_03: But no, this was a good week, man.
- 2:32SPEAKER_03: It was it was it was a really good week to kind of just reset, got back in the gym, worked out even more, okay.
- 2:37SPEAKER_03: Kind of locked in there.
- 2:38SPEAKER_03: Stairmaster vibes again, or stairmaster vibes for sure.
- 2:41SPEAKER_03: Okay, but not as consistent as I want it to be.
- 2:43SPEAKER_03: All right, but I've been doing a lot of like weird like new stretches and doing yoga and stuff like that, man.
- 2:48SPEAKER_03: Just trying to get my body more activated and rejuvenate a little bit.
- 2:51SPEAKER_05: Yoga is an interesting one, bro.
- 2:53SPEAKER_05: It's something I'm I've like I've done Pilates, I've never really done yoga before.
- 2:57SPEAKER_05: Okay, yeah, but like I hear like like yoga obviously it's got a lot of benefits, like for stretching your muscles and getting some of your joints moving as well.
- 3:06SPEAKER_05: Bro, I used to laugh at yoga to be honest with you.
- 3:08SPEAKER_03: Because I'm like, I'm like, bro, how do you work out like by stretching and like doing all these different weird movements until I did it myself?
- 3:15SPEAKER_05: Oh, you're in there sweating.
- 3:16SPEAKER_03: Oh yeah, yeah, oh for sure.
- 3:17SPEAKER_03: And then they got this whole new thing that's that's I guess it's maybe not new, but it's like hot yoga.
- 3:22SPEAKER_05: Oh, yeah, yeah.
- 3:22SPEAKER_05: No, I heard about it.
- 3:23SPEAKER_05: Oh, yeah, I'm not doing that.
- 3:24SPEAKER_05: I'm good, I'm good on that guy.
- 3:26SPEAKER_03: I'll do regular stretches and what I've been doing a lot of core muscle stretches and stuff like that, just trying to trying to get myself right, bro.
- 3:31SPEAKER_03: Yeah, you know that that but that's how I pretty much spent the bye week, kind of just relaxed.
- 3:34SPEAKER_03: But we we we locked and ready.
- 3:36SPEAKER_03: Uh, I feel like I watched uh I consumed so much football this past weekend, and so I guess with man, well, I guess with that being said, we could jump right into it.
- 3:44SPEAKER_03: Um obviously we're gonna talk about NFL action, but I want to talk about college football first so we could say this is my first time in a minute.
- 3:51SPEAKER_05: I feel like really just being able to chill on a Saturday and watch college football.
- 3:55SPEAKER_05: Like I normally don't, like I'm I'm you know, I've if OU is playing, I might catch one of their games.
- 4:00SPEAKER_05: But you know, I got Mississippi ties with you know, friends and Coach Levy on staff there, University of Tennessee, uh Coach Hypel, um USC Lincoln Riley, too.
- 4:12SPEAKER_03: You hurt my heart when you said that one out of Tennessee, man.
- 4:14SPEAKER_03: Oh, I know.
- 4:15SPEAKER_03: They beat my boys, man.
- 4:16SPEAKER_03: That was that kind of hurt my heart a little bit.
- 4:18SPEAKER_03: They beat my they beat my boys.
- 4:19SPEAKER_03: Alabama's going through a rough patch, lost to Georgia last week, yeah, right.
- 4:22SPEAKER_03: And then uh, and then we lost Tennessee this week.
- 4:24SPEAKER_03: So it's a lot of people questioning some stuff.
- 4:27SPEAKER_03: We saw Texas drop big one to Florida, yeah.
- 4:30SPEAKER_03: Like, what?
- 4:31SPEAKER_03: Like, and so people are starting to have questions, obviously.
- 4:34SPEAKER_03: Man, some weird stuff came out this past week or they're now bro.
- 4:37SPEAKER_03: They're apparently giving the backup quarterback record.
- 4:39SPEAKER_03: I saw.
- 4:39SPEAKER_03: So it was it's like I I hope that kid can put it together, man, because he's very talented.
- 4:43SPEAKER_05: Yeah, college football is in an interesting spot too, bro, because it's like with NIL and all these money spent year to year, you know, and there being no salary cap.
- 4:52SPEAKER_05: I feel like a lot of these teams, these college teams are having to treat it like we're all in.
- 4:58SPEAKER_05: Oh, yeah, you know what I mean?
- 4:59SPEAKER_05: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 5:00SPEAKER_05: And and it's kind of always college football has always kind of had that vibe of like all in, but I feel like it's even magnified more now.
- 5:06SPEAKER_05: You know what I mean?
- 5:07SPEAKER_05: Because Arch Manning is a dog.
- 5:09SPEAKER_05: Like, I I I think I think he's a really good football player, you know what I mean?
- 5:13SPEAKER_05: And and we uh even at this point in my career, I still got areas to grow in.
- 5:18SPEAKER_05: But for Arch, I I've seen I've seen him do some really good things, you know, in in college football, man.
- 5:22SPEAKER_05: So it's it's interesting, like like the dynamic of of where college football is and that kind of stuff.
- 5:28SPEAKER_03: I can't help but say it, man, but I but I'm gonna say it, man.
- 5:30SPEAKER_03: I feel like because of his last name, he's kind of like under a magnifying glass a little bit.
- 5:34SPEAKER_03: And even in like a bigger way, it's like obviously, you know, a guy will come in with a lot of expectations, but I feel like his were supposed to be like national championship, Heisman Trophy winner right away.
- 5:44SPEAKER_03: Like people were already crowning him before the year even started.
- 5:47SPEAKER_03: And when he doesn't look like that, people are quick to throw that bust label or that label of, oh, he's not that good in front of him.
- 5:54SPEAKER_03: And it's like, bro, give him time to grow, mature, learn.
- 5:58SPEAKER_03: He's allowed to go through so many uh different ups and downs, ups and flows of the game because that that's what football is about, bro.
- 6:05SPEAKER_03: And it's like just because he's struggling right now, that could that that might not be who he is in the future.
- 6:09SPEAKER_03: I don't know, man.
- 6:10SPEAKER_03: It's like it sucks to hear how people are kind of reframing it.
- 6:14SPEAKER_03: But I also want to caution people college football is in a completely different space than what it was years ago, man.
- 6:19SPEAKER_06: For sure, right?
- 6:20SPEAKER_03: And IO's a real thing where like a lot of these teams are building competitive rosters to compete with some of the big leagues out there, and so you even think about Indiana.
- 6:27SPEAKER_03: Indiana played Ohio State extremely close.
- 6:30SPEAKER_03: They almost had the game down the stretch, man.
- 6:32SPEAKER_03: I don't know how you felt about that game, but I'm watching that game and I was like, bro, yeah, just I mean, like, buddy, buddy literally was going up for the touchdown catch, yeah, right through.
- 6:41SPEAKER_03: I think he got he caught the pass, yeah, and one foot went out of bounds.
- 6:44SPEAKER_03: It was literally football's a game of inches.
- 6:46SPEAKER_05: It was crazy to watch that, man.
- 6:47SPEAKER_05: It is, yeah.
- 6:47SPEAKER_05: No, I I caught I kind of caught the end of that one into Notre Dame, BYU.
- 6:51SPEAKER_05: That was crazy.
- 6:52SPEAKER_03: Bro, Big 12 comes out, releases a statement saying, Yeah, we messed up basically.
- 6:55SPEAKER_03: We effed up.
- 6:56SPEAKER_03: It was supposed to be a second left on the clock.
- 6:58SPEAKER_03: Yeah, and that sucks for them because number one, I felt like it was pass interference in the back of the end zone.
- 7:02SPEAKER_03: Again, we're asking reps to be perfect, yeah, which is hard to do, right?
- 7:06SPEAKER_03: Yeah, it's hard to do, but the report came out that they're moving to 24-game uh for a 2014 format, basically, the college football playoffs.
- 7:15SPEAKER_03: I wonder how much a loss like this could hurt a team like Notre Dame, who's not a part of a conference.
- 7:20SPEAKER_03: Yeah, like Notre Dame's not a part of a conference, and so losing to what was it, BYU?
- 7:25SPEAKER_03: If this was years past, yeah, that might be something that's devastating that you don't come back for.
- 7:30SPEAKER_03: So for the Big 12 to release a statement, like, yeah, it should have been a uh second left on a clock.
- 7:34SPEAKER_05: Yes, well, yeah.
- 7:35SPEAKER_05: No, it's tough.
- 7:36SPEAKER_05: I I like from personal experience too.
- 7:38SPEAKER_05: I know that a lot of a lot of these referees in those type of crunch times with a Hail Mary like play ball in the end zone, yeah.
- 7:45SPEAKER_05: They don't normally call PI.
- 7:47SPEAKER_05: You know what I mean?
- 7:48SPEAKER_05: Yeah, yeah.
- 7:48SPEAKER_05: Like I feel like they're not taught, they're taught to like kind of let that slide.
- 7:52SPEAKER_05: Like, you know, I I don't know if I've ever seen like a PI come in that kind of situation.
- 7:57SPEAKER_05: You know what I mean?
- 7:58SPEAKER_05: College and NFL to be honest.
- 7:59SPEAKER_05: That is true.
- 8:00SPEAKER_05: Because like, you know, you're taking a shot.
- 8:01SPEAKER_05: Like you're taking a shot into the end zone, and it's the last play of the game.
- 8:05SPEAKER_05: It's it's normally like it happens really fast too.
- 8:09SPEAKER_05: But I I feel like for the most part, referees aren't really calling PI in those situations situations, you know what I'm saying?
- 8:16SPEAKER_05: Right, right, right.
- 8:17SPEAKER_03: Like you might get some weird defensive holding from a linebacker or so, but like you're not gonna get a PI, I feel like in those situations, or or a non-defensive hold from a linebacker that didn't that didn't actually pass interference Cooper Cup in the Super Bowl.
- 8:30SPEAKER_03: Yeah, yeah.
- 8:31SPEAKER_03: Uh what it was called, like that.
- 8:32SPEAKER_03: You know, we're not gonna say no names here, but you know, certain calls get called, and I don't understand why they call, but man, so I want to get your your thoughts on this, man.
- 8:41SPEAKER_03: Obviously, college football has changed so much since you last played, yeah.
- 8:45SPEAKER_03: But 24 teams, man.
- 8:47SPEAKER_03: Do you think that takes the the level of competitiveness out of it to a degree?
- 8:52SPEAKER_03: 24 teams in the playoffs is crazy to me.
- 8:54SPEAKER_05: I mean, it sounds like they're trying to get as much of the SEC as they can in there.
- 8:59SPEAKER_05: Like, yeah, like I don't I I was I've been we benefited from there was a different level of urgency preparing for a college football season and going through a season where there is four playoff teams, you know what I mean?
- 9:18SPEAKER_05: Like every every game matters that much more.
- 9:22SPEAKER_05: 12 teams, probably similar feeling, you know what I mean?
- 9:25SPEAKER_05: Yeah, but 24 is a lot, bro.
- 9:27SPEAKER_05: That's a lot, you know.
- 9:28SPEAKER_05: And I know that they do that.
- 9:29SPEAKER_05: Do they do that D1 double A or D2 or something like that?
- 9:32SPEAKER_05: Like they got that big, like the FCS has that big like tournament, you know what I mean?
- 9:38SPEAKER_05: And it's beneficial for the player, I think, because as a player, you get more tape, more opportunity, right?
- 9:44SPEAKER_05: You know, in college football, which is always always helps you get into the next level uh when you're a good player, and you'll be playing against some some really good football teams.
- 9:53SPEAKER_05: But Millie, what's happening?
- 9:54SPEAKER_03: We got our co-host back in the building.
- 9:57SPEAKER_03: They was getting a lot of love on last week's episode, man.
- 9:59SPEAKER_03: So we appreciate y'all.

- 10:17SPEAKER_03: Me and OB, we love doing this, bro.
- 10:18SPEAKER_03: We really do.
- 10:19SPEAKER_03: And you know, I think when when we talked about doing this show, this is what we wanted it to look like, bro.
- 10:23SPEAKER_03: We wanted it to, we wanted to give perspective, but we also wanted to give you guys an inside look on uh our our minds and sort of how we kind of go about our day to day.
- 10:31SPEAKER_03: So we just appreciate y'all bottom of our heart for tuning in, whether it's liking, subscribing, and tuning into our content um each and every single week.

- 10:53SPEAKER_03: We've been seeing a lot of love there too.
- 10:55SPEAKER_03: So we appreciate y'all.
- 10:56SPEAKER_03: So week six of the NFL just took place, all right?
- 10:59SPEAKER_03: Yep, and two unbeaten still, San Francisco 49ers, Kansas City Chiefs.
- 11:04SPEAKER_03: I don't know how much you got to catch of the Giants game, right?
- 11:07SPEAKER_03: Giants, uh Giants had uh a little bit of a thriller there with the New Orleans Saints.
- 11:11SPEAKER_03: We saw JJ McCarthy make his debut.
- 11:14SPEAKER_03: And this is sort of what we talked about, right?
- 11:15SPEAKER_03: When we said JJ McCarthy was a gamer, kind of once he got those reps under his belt, he kind of stepped in.
- 11:20SPEAKER_03: They they they benched Jameis, he was struggling a little bit there.
- 11:23SPEAKER_03: But they put Jameis Wins.
- 11:24SPEAKER_03: I mean, they put JJ McCarthy in there, man, and he he gave the Giants a fighting chance.
- 11:28SPEAKER_03: Yeah, he gave the Giants a far a fighting chance, and I think props to Coach Harps for obviously uh seeing what JJ McCarthy could be.
- 11:35SPEAKER_03: What are your thoughts on just JJ taking over potentially as a Giants starting quarterback?
- 11:38SPEAKER_05: Yeah, you know, it sucks for Jameis because it was as a backup quarterback, I think, in that situation, you just kind of expect to be able to play your role while also staying ready, you know, for the time, you know, when you're when you're brought up and you're called.
- 11:52SPEAKER_05: Um, and I think they just gave him an extension this offseason as well.
- 11:55SPEAKER_05: Yeah, uh, you know, it's tough, man.
- 11:57SPEAKER_05: It's tough when things don't necessarily go uh I uh for Jameis, you know, how how that how you want him to go.
- 12:04SPEAKER_05: Right.
- 12:04SPEAKER_05: Um it's also a cool story, I think, for JJ McCarthy coming from the situation he came from Minnesota, yeah.
- 12:11SPEAKER_05: Uh ending up, you know, just getting buried on a depth depth chart there and being traded to New York.
- 12:16SPEAKER_05: And he goes into that game and and uh he lights it up, you know what I mean, and plays really well.
- 12:22SPEAKER_05: And uh why that was, you know, who knows?
- 12:26SPEAKER_05: I I don't I don't I I don't study the Giants enough to be able to tell you why, but um it's cool, it's cool, and it's really special, special for JJ to be able to get the opportunity, make the most of it right there, man.
- 12:38SPEAKER_05: And uh it I'm I imagine it'll be pretty cool for him, you know, having that having that opportunity back to to kind of probably be the be the guy again for sure in the short, man.
- 12:48SPEAKER_05: So uh it sucks for Jameis, though.
- 12:50SPEAKER_05: You know, I think about that as a player and being in that role, it's it's tough.
- 12:54SPEAKER_05: It's tough because you already feel like you, you know, you want a short leash and and uh you don't have a lot of room for error and in the trade for you know the younger player.
- 13:05SPEAKER_05: And um it's tough.
- 13:07SPEAKER_05: It's tough.
- 13:08SPEAKER_05: You know, I feel for Jameis in that area, man, because I I would imagine it hasn't all hasn't all worked out how he wanted it to work out.
- 13:17SPEAKER_05: And and the thing about football is we talked about on talk about on here a lot, like so many things gotta go right for everybody to play well, you know what I mean?
- 13:25SPEAKER_05: Like, and for whatever reason, uh it's a lot been a lot more smoother.
- 13:30SPEAKER_05: It was a lot more smoother and easier when JJ came in.
- 13:32SPEAKER_03: Yeah, man, yeah, man.
- 13:33SPEAKER_03: I I think that's I think it's beautiful the way you kind of put that to um you know, keeping it with the uh NFC East.
- 13:38SPEAKER_03: I think because honestly, I think this kind of creates an opportunity for the Giants to potentially win the division, if I'm being honest with you, bro.
- 13:44SPEAKER_03: Uh, it's been a crazy week.
- 13:45SPEAKER_03: We saw Dallas drop one last night to Green Bay.
- 13:48SPEAKER_03: We didn't even get a chance to talk about that.
- 13:50SPEAKER_03: How how insane it was.
- 13:51SPEAKER_03: I'm talking about the week prior.
- 13:53SPEAKER_03: Dak Prescott's walking to the locker room.
- 13:56SPEAKER_03: Oh, wow, bro.
- 13:57SPEAKER_03: And then yeah, somebody, some, some, some I guess, uh, stadium employee says something crazy to him.
- 14:02SPEAKER_05: It's like look away and then he don't say nothing.
- 14:05SPEAKER_05: He looked away, he looked away, then he starts talking again and shit.
- 14:08SPEAKER_03: Like, yeah, what did what he what did he say?
- 14:10SPEAKER_03: He said, embarrassing.
- 14:11SPEAKER_03: That's what he said.
- 14:12SPEAKER_03: Embarrassing.
- 14:13SPEAKER_03: To me, that is wild.
- 14:14SPEAKER_03: Have you ever had anything like that ever happen to you?
- 14:16SPEAKER_05: No, I never had anything.
- 14:18SPEAKER_05: Not not from a fan on my team, to be honest.
- 14:20SPEAKER_05: Like, I think I think is I get it though, because we are all competitive in some way.
- 14:26SPEAKER_05: Like, if you're a fan of a football team, you're competitive in a way where you want your team to win.
- 14:30SPEAKER_05: And I I get it, like everybody high emotion.
- 14:33SPEAKER_05: Uh, but to say that, to say that to a guy like Dak, Dak Prescott, who's been in that building, like he's drafted there, he's he's the face of the Dallas Cowboys.
- 14:44SPEAKER_05: Like, to say that in that instance is that shit's fucking crazy.
- 14:47SPEAKER_05: That was wild.
- 14:48SPEAKER_03: I didn't I never thought I would see anything like that, but it but it was it's pure entertainment, I would say.
- 14:52SPEAKER_03: It made me, I was like, wow, that's crazy.
- 14:54SPEAKER_03: But keeping it with the NFC East, uh, unfortunate news, Jalen Hurts just got announced, man.
- 14:59SPEAKER_03: He's out for the season, blood clots, and uh it's it's a talk in the NFL right now, man.
- 15:04SPEAKER_03: Because obviously, um, first and foremost, there are some surroundings, well, some question marks surrounding how that transpired, which we don't have to dive into, but more so what it like, how does a how does a locker room kind of rally, right?
- 15:18SPEAKER_03: When your starting quarterback goes out, how do you like what do you think the mentality is gonna be in Philly?
- 15:24SPEAKER_05: I mean, it really it really all depends on like the personality and the characteristics of your number two.
- 15:29SPEAKER_05: Um, I think a lot from from my personal experience throughout my career, um, man, for my time in Baltimore when RG3 had to step up.
- 15:39SPEAKER_05: Um, you know, uh when I was in Kansas City, Chad Henney comes in.
- 15:44SPEAKER_05: Oh wow, yeah.
- 15:45SPEAKER_05: I mean, Chad Henney handling business, but he was a very charismatic guy.
- 15:51SPEAKER_05: Like he was full of moxie and energy, and you know, he was always very much involved with everyone in the locker room and super entertaining.
- 15:59SPEAKER_05: And you know, he he had that QB1 aura, although he was uh in that backup role.
- 16:05SPEAKER_05: So when he came in, like we didn't skip a beat, you know what I mean?
- 16:08SPEAKER_05: And like I remember there was a year we won the Super Bowl, he came in versus Jacksonville, had a hell of a drive there at the end of the second quarter, going into the uh at the end of the first half, and Pat comes out the third quarter.
- 16:18SPEAKER_05: But that drive, I mean, we already score a touchdown right there, bro.
- 16:21SPEAKER_05: Like he was and he let it, he came in and did his thing.
- 16:23SPEAKER_05: Uh during my time here with Jake and Flacco, I mean, bro, like it's always tough, obviously, losing the engine of your team.
- 16:31SPEAKER_05: But when you got a guy like Flacco coming in, who all the guys in the locker room love and respect and appreciate, uh, it it's a different, it it doesn't, you don't necessarily lose faith.
- 16:43SPEAKER_05: You know what I'm saying?
- 16:44SPEAKER_05: Like it's like you kind of know, you know what it is, and and at the same time, like you want to you want to play for these guys.
- 16:50SPEAKER_05: And and playing a quarterback position at the NFL level, I feel like is it's important to have a guy at no matter if he's a one, a two, or a three, right?
- 17:01SPEAKER_05: It's important to have a guy that like guys want to play for, right?
- 17:05SPEAKER_05: You know what I'm saying?
- 17:06SPEAKER_05: Like, like a lot of guys want to play for Jack, Joe Flacco, you know what I'm saying?
- 17:09SPEAKER_05: And and when you when you've got that kind of personality, I mean JJ McCarthy's probably similar in this way where people want to play for the for that kind of person, you know what I mean?
- 17:18SPEAKER_05: It makes it it makes it a lot more easier.
- 17:21SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I I agree with you.
- 17:22SPEAKER_03: I think when you talk about like obviously having a guy at the helm that people believe in that people get behind too, I think just rally the troops, right?
- 17:28SPEAKER_03: There's something uh about it, man.
- 17:29SPEAKER_03: I I I you see some of these guys in in the National Football League.
- 17:32SPEAKER_03: I think JJ McCarthy is definitely one of them.
- 17:34SPEAKER_03: Like they just have this infectious aura about Baker Mayfield is one we talk about.
- 17:39SPEAKER_03: Baker is one of those guys, so is so is Joe Burrow, uh Baker Mayfield.
- 17:44SPEAKER_03: I think JJ McCarthy is one of those guys, and it's crazy.
- 17:46SPEAKER_03: I think that's just something you're born with, to be honest with you.
- 17:48SPEAKER_05: Oh, for sure.
- 17:49SPEAKER_03: I don't know if that's just something you just like hard.
- 17:51SPEAKER_03: I mean, certainly guys will believe in you if they see you putting it.
- 17:54SPEAKER_05: You it's a gene you're born with, for sure.
- 17:56SPEAKER_05: For sure, for sure.
- 17:57SPEAKER_05: And I like I feel like you're 100% right about that, bro.
- 18:00SPEAKER_05: Because like even some of the guys, like I feel like uh Sean Clifford, for example, that's here in Cincinnati.
- 18:06SPEAKER_05: Like, he got that gene.
- 18:07SPEAKER_05: Well, people want to play for him.
- 18:08SPEAKER_05: Yeah, you know what I mean?
- 18:09SPEAKER_05: Like, people want to play for him, right?
- 18:11SPEAKER_05: Like, he's a like he got he has that uh aura about him, you know what I mean?
- 18:15SPEAKER_05: Like, like you're 100% right.
- 18:17SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I feel that sometimes when I'm watching the game, I'm like, bro, these he's like sometimes like there's there's truth in like guys just willing guys for willing the team for it.
- 18:25SPEAKER_03: The Pittsburgh Steels had a quarterback a couple years ago, man.
- 18:27SPEAKER_03: It's stumping me right now.
- 18:29SPEAKER_03: Jason Rudolph, not me, Duck Hodges.
- 18:31SPEAKER_06: Oh, yeah, and they all raved about him, yeah, all raved about him, bro.
- 18:36SPEAKER_03: Bro, the locker room loved him, and guys just got behind him, guys believed in him.
- 18:39SPEAKER_03: Yeah, and you know, like I feel like that's something you can't teach, man.
- 18:42SPEAKER_03: That's something you can't teach you.
- 18:42SPEAKER_03: Either got it or you don't, but uh nonetheless, man, Jalen Hurts is out for the season now, yeah.
- 18:47SPEAKER_03: And um, I think for a Philadelphia Eagles team that has accomplished a lot in the last couple of seasons, right?
- 18:54SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I'm starting to see just a lot of craziness on social media right now where Eagles fans are like, oh, blow it up, or you know, let's move on.
- 19:01SPEAKER_03: Let's like first of all most.
- 19:02SPEAKER_03: Let me just put perspective, right?
- 19:03SPEAKER_03: Because let's let me talk about when it's at the point of perspective.
- 19:05SPEAKER_03: Y'all want a super bowl?
- 19:06SPEAKER_03: Where's my camera?
- 19:07SPEAKER_03: Y'all want a Super Bowl?
- 19:09SPEAKER_03: What two years ago?
- 19:10SPEAKER_03: Yeah, what are we talking about?
- 19:13SPEAKER_01: Yeah, in the playoffs, bro.
- 19:14SPEAKER_03: Y'all have lived in the playoffs, yeah.
- 19:17SPEAKER_03: Woe is me if you have a down year, yeah.
- 19:20SPEAKER_03: It's not the end of the world, yeah.
- 19:21SPEAKER_03: You know the beautiful thing about sports somebody's gotta win, somebody gotta lose, yeah, right?
- 19:26SPEAKER_03: Somebody's gonna win a championship at the end of the year, somebody's not, right?
- 19:30SPEAKER_03: There's gonna be one team out of 32 teams that wins a championship at the end of the year.
- 19:34SPEAKER_03: Does that mean that every team that doesn't win a championship have to has to blow it up?
- 19:38SPEAKER_03: No, so Philly, I just I think I gotta give you y'all perspective.
- 19:41SPEAKER_03: I know how Philly fans are growing up 30 minutes outside of Philly, bro.
- 19:45SPEAKER_03: I know how Philly fans work, and I know y'all want to win bad.
- 19:49SPEAKER_03: And I know y'all have championship mindset consistently.
- 19:52SPEAKER_03: But Nick Sirianni is a dog, right?
- 19:55SPEAKER_03: He is a good coach.
- 19:57SPEAKER_03: He's a guy that I got to meet last year at the combine.
- 19:59SPEAKER_03: Very, very humble dude, very, very awesome, very awesome to come up and talk to, very forthright.
- 20:04SPEAKER_03: Um, but y'all, y'all got it good in Philly, y'all got it good in Philly.
- 20:08SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I think the the focus for Philly needs to be getting Jalen Hurts healthy, right?
- 20:12SPEAKER_03: Not football.
- 20:13SPEAKER_03: I'm talking about the man.
- 20:14SPEAKER_03: I want to see Jalen Hurts healthy.
- 20:15SPEAKER_03: I want to see him focusing on his health and getting himself back together, yeah, right.
- 20:19SPEAKER_03: And then when that time comes, next season, be the best player he could be for the Philadelphia Eagles.
- 20:25SPEAKER_03: But Philly fans is not, you know, it's not all doom and gloom.
- 20:29SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I think y'all still have a hell of a team there with Saquon.
- 20:31SPEAKER_03: When Saquon gets back healthy, y'all got a hell of a team there.
- 20:34SPEAKER_03: Jalen Carter, Jordan Davis, so many names that I could just sort of rattle off right now.
- 20:39SPEAKER_03: And guys that are gamers in the National Football League.
- 20:42SPEAKER_03: It's not like y'all have to start from zero, y'all, y'all don't.
- 20:45SPEAKER_03: So I just want to add perspective here.
- 20:47SPEAKER_03: While it sucks that Jalen Hurts is out for the season, I think y'all still have a very, very talented football team for the future year.
- 20:54SPEAKER_05: So I just wanted to add perspective to that.
- 20:55SPEAKER_05: Yeah, for sure, for sure, bro.
- 20:57SPEAKER_05: And and I think too, like when you really take a step back and kind of look at it from a big picture standpoint, uh, like their organization and kind of where the players are individually, like emotion, like football is an emotional show.
- 21:10SPEAKER_05: Oh, yeah, for sure.
- 21:11SPEAKER_05: Like it's really emotional.
- 21:13SPEAKER_05: And when you're when you're playing in as many big games as they're playing in, like it becomes a lot.
- 21:19SPEAKER_05: And it's a lot of emotion that involves with that.
- 21:22SPEAKER_05: That that involves and it entails in like boy going out there and winning playoff games, winning the Super Bowl, like it's it's a it's a lot of emotion.
- 21:31SPEAKER_05: And and I feel like when I when I watch their team and even lane retiring, like it's a lot.
- 21:37SPEAKER_05: Like it's a lot on the players as individuals, man.
- 21:39SPEAKER_05: And sometimes like these these short off seasons, back to back to back to back, year after year, uh, it takes a takes a toll on a on a on a coaching staff.
- 21:49SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 21:49SPEAKER_05: It takes a toll on the players.
- 21:51SPEAKER_05: Like it's a lot, you know what I mean?
- 21:53SPEAKER_05: And and uh sometimes uh a reset uh is is needed, man.
- 21:58SPEAKER_05: And and you know, it sucks because we all Every single year want to be in the bowl, and every team want to be in the bowl, and we want to be in a dance in the playoffs every year.
- 22:07SPEAKER_05: But in Philly's situation, man, like you said, like they they've they've been in the dance for what, four or five twice in the last five years.
- 22:18SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 22:19SPEAKER_02: Twice in the last five years.
- 22:20SPEAKER_05: Yeah, that's a lot, bro.
- 22:21SPEAKER_05: That's insane.
- 22:21SPEAKER_05: Yeah, that's a lot of short off seasons.
- 22:23SPEAKER_05: That's a lot of, you know what I mean?
- 22:25SPEAKER_05: Coaches staying long, you know, being behind on combine things.
- 22:29SPEAKER_05: Like it's a lot.
- 22:30SPEAKER_05: Like it's a lot.
- 22:31SPEAKER_05: So uh it's uh it sucks that they're going through that, obviously, because at no point in time you want to make excuses and be like, damn, I what why is that?
- 22:40SPEAKER_05: But uh these type of things happen in pro sports.
- 22:42SPEAKER_03: I agree with you, my man.
- 22:43SPEAKER_03: Um, like I said, Philly, man.
- 22:45SPEAKER_03: Uh, I'm just happy first and foremost that they they caught it, you know, when it came to Jalen Hurts's health, man.
- 22:50SPEAKER_03: And like I said, we're wishing him the absolute best here on inside the pocket.
- 22:54SPEAKER_03: That's because that's a hell of a player there, man.
- 22:55SPEAKER_03: That's a hell of a player there, and uh such such a stand-up individual as well.
- 22:59SPEAKER_03: Yeah, want to keep the conversation rolling, my man.
- 23:01SPEAKER_03: So uh breaking news out of this morning was the Colts moved on from general manager Chris Ballard, long time general manager Chris Ballard, man.
- 23:08SPEAKER_03: Um, this came as a little bit of a shock, right?
- 23:11SPEAKER_03: Because I I guess I got a question for you, man.
- 23:13SPEAKER_03: Like, yeah, do players feel that like like I don't know how present NFL GMs actually are in locker rooms, yeah, you know, on our on a day-to-day basis, or if they're coming into contact with the players on a regular basis.
- 23:25SPEAKER_03: But Chris Ballard was a guy that had that garnered so much respect, not only inside Indianapolis, you know, in Indianapolis, but also around the league.
- 23:33SPEAKER_03: Oh, yeah.
- 23:34SPEAKER_03: What are your your your thoughts on that, so to speak?
- 23:36SPEAKER_03: Do you guys feel that in the locker room when a general manager gets relieved of his duties?
- 23:39SPEAKER_03: What kind of impact does that have on players at all?
- 23:41SPEAKER_05: I think to be honest, I've never really experienced it.
- 23:44SPEAKER_05: So I I it's like something I can't really relate to.
- 23:46SPEAKER_05: I can kind of only speak from outside the box perspective on uh Chris Balor, man.
- 23:53SPEAKER_05: And uh I got a lot of respect for him for who he is and and you know how he operates.
- 23:59SPEAKER_05: I I know the the thing about NFL football is it's literally what have you done for me lately.
- 24:05SPEAKER_05: Absolutely.
- 24:05SPEAKER_05: And you know, for I think he got there in maybe 2017 or something like that, might have been one of his first years.
- 24:12SPEAKER_05: But uh when you look at his his rapport and you see Quentin Nelson, you see Darius Leonard, you see the DeForest Buckner trade, um you know, uh he'll bringing in Phillip Rivers and Matt Ryan.
- 24:24SPEAKER_05: And uh, you know, it sucks because as an organization, uh the sudden the sudden retirement of Andrew Luck kind of set them back a little bit um in a lot of ways, man, because when you got the hardest piece of the puzzle and he's really good, um it's it's hard to it's hard to like to do that.
- 24:43SPEAKER_05: Yeah, 2017.
- 24:44SPEAKER_05: 27 desperately.
- 24:45SPEAKER_03: Yeah, so you just know that off the top.
- 24:46SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I yeah, I don't I don't know why.
- 24:49SPEAKER_05: I do, I do.
- 24:50SPEAKER_05: I watch way too much of this shit.
- 24:52SPEAKER_05: But but uh Chris Ballard though, man, I mean, I I think I think his track record speaks for itself.
- 24:58SPEAKER_05: Um and it's tough though.
- 24:59SPEAKER_05: It's I think probably from ownership standpoint, they just they're looking at it, like I said, from what have you done for me lately and and uh some of the the I guess lack of production from players that they might have paid or drafted in the last few years.
- 25:15SPEAKER_05: Um, you know, I for whatever reason, uh it's fell on, fell on him.
- 25:20SPEAKER_05: Um, but it it sucks that he got fired now.
- 25:23SPEAKER_05: I personally I think it's more beneficial for his career because uh he's ahead of the wave.
- 25:29SPEAKER_05: You know, I I don't I I don't know what's going on big picture around the NFL and who's gonna get fired and who's not, but uh the fact that he'll have some time off before that wave hits, um hopefully being able to get in the building and be the general manager of somebody's team because he's he's worth it.
- 25:44SPEAKER_03: Man, that's so crazy that you think of that that you say that.
- 25:47SPEAKER_03: You know what I just keep keeps coming to my mind for me?
- 25:49SPEAKER_03: What's that?
- 25:50SPEAKER_03: I don't know why.
- 25:50SPEAKER_03: It's a pairing of Sean McDermott and Chris Ballard somewhere.
- 25:54SPEAKER_03: Yeah, to me, I just keep thinking of Sean McDermott, by the way, who should be head coach, right?
- 25:58SPEAKER_03: One of the most successful coaches in Buffalo Bills history.
- 26:00SPEAKER_03: Yeah, uh, but Sean McDermott and Chris Ballard, I feel like would be a dream tandem for some for some team.
- 26:06SPEAKER_03: That would be crazy.
- 26:07SPEAKER_06: Oh, yeah.
- 26:07SPEAKER_03: Um, a couple other things that happened around the league.
- 26:10SPEAKER_03: I don't know if you got to see the Cardinals knocked off the Rams.
- 26:13SPEAKER_03: Yeah, yeah.
- 26:13SPEAKER_05: That was I didn't watch the game, but but yeah, no, I I I saw some of the clips and highlights.
- 26:18SPEAKER_03: The Titans got their first one in the season against Indies, right?
- 26:23SPEAKER_03: It was it was like a week of upsets almost to it.
- 26:25SPEAKER_03: I was kind of I was like college football too, I guess.
- 26:28SPEAKER_07: Yeah, he funny as we ain't gonna talk about that too much, man.
- 26:34SPEAKER_03: You know, we we're gonna chill on Bama for a second.
- 26:36SPEAKER_03: We're gonna because nothing about the tie.
- 26:37SPEAKER_03: That's how we're gonna say, man.
- 26:39SPEAKER_03: But yeah, Bam Bama fell short for sure, man.
- 26:41SPEAKER_03: Uh, I I guess I would say for my unsung player of the week, right?
- 26:44SPEAKER_03: Because you know, we that's uh some uh something we do weekly on this show.
- 26:47SPEAKER_03: Yeah, um, we typically like to keep it to Bengals players, but since the Bengals didn't play this week, uh Damian Pierce for me, Damian Pierce running back uh in Philadelphia.
- 26:57SPEAKER_03: He basically had the entire workload.
- 26:59SPEAKER_03: Saquon Barkley's been out, was out.
- 27:01SPEAKER_03: Carson Steele, their other running back had went out.
- 27:03SPEAKER_03: Yeah, Carson Steele was with the Chiefs, Kansas City.
- 27:06SPEAKER_03: Yeah, he was with Kansas City, yeah.
- 27:07SPEAKER_03: Carson Steel was with Kansas City, uh, but he played, but uh um Damian Damian Pierce played 95% of the snaps, bro.
- 27:13SPEAKER_03: Wow, you don't see that in today's NFL, yeah.
- 27:16SPEAKER_05: From a skill position, that's so hard to do, bro.
- 27:18SPEAKER_05: Bro, I know he was hired after that oh for sure, right?
- 27:22SPEAKER_05: For sure.
- 27:22SPEAKER_05: But he's tough though.
- 27:23SPEAKER_05: Yeah, like I don't know him personally, but just I I remember him coming in in Houston and what he was doing there early in his career.
- 27:29SPEAKER_05: Alabama guy, Damian Pierce.
- 27:31SPEAKER_05: We could we could we have to learn he Florida, okay?
- 27:33SPEAKER_05: Yeah, no, he he's a tough.
- 27:35SPEAKER_03: I know who you're thinking of.
- 27:36SPEAKER_03: You're thinking about bowl that played for the Patriots, uh Damian Damian Harris.
- 27:40SPEAKER_03: Oh, yeah, that's what you're thinking.
- 27:41SPEAKER_03: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 27:43SPEAKER_03: Same similar names, just not, you know, but no, but um now Dam Damian Pierce played his ass off yesterday, even though Philly didn't win that game, then that was a good game.
- 27:50SPEAKER_03: Yeah, that was a good game, Philly versus the the Panthers.
- 27:53SPEAKER_03: And I I came away just like, damn, like the Panthers just they they keep they keep answering the challenge this year, they keep answering the challenge, and people wondering, you know, if they're gonna keep stepping up, man.
- 28:02SPEAKER_03: The Panthers did it, man.
- 28:03SPEAKER_03: Bryce Young kept answering the challenge because that's a tough Philadelphia Eagles defense, too, that they that they were figuring out.
- 28:08SPEAKER_03: The the Steelers took on the Bucks yesterday, and we got on right now.
- 28:11SPEAKER_03: Yeah, that was a good game as well.
- 28:12SPEAKER_03: I think they went to overtime and Steelers found a way to kind of pull it out.
- 28:15SPEAKER_03: So this division is is neck and neck, right?
- 28:17SPEAKER_03: So uh it's kind of crazy.
- 28:20SPEAKER_03: And another thing that happened this week, the Chargers moved to 0-6.
- 28:23SPEAKER_03: Yeah, charges moved on, and I think that that's probably one of the biggest shocks of the 2026 season, bro.
- 28:29SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I gotta be honest with you.
- 28:30SPEAKER_03: And I think part of that is because, at least for me, they came the at least back in August, a lot of people were talking about them in the Super Bowl conversation.
- 28:38SPEAKER_03: Yeah, and to be at this point in the season with zero wins, it's like, damn, how do you like what does it look like moving forward for them?
- 28:44SPEAKER_03: I I here's where I live and I'll die with this.
- 28:47SPEAKER_03: I think that they have a talented quarterback, and I'll say this I do not know if you're getting another coach that can come in and lead them quite like Jim Harbaugh can.
- 28:56SPEAKER_03: Yeah, so I think for a lot of people that are like, oh, they gotta rip this up or sometimes the season just doesn't go your way, right?
- 29:02SPEAKER_03: And I I I hate to also make it seem like I'm making excuses as well, right?
- 29:05SPEAKER_03: Because I like Jim Harbaugh and I like Justin Herbert.
- 29:09SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I'm not.
- 29:10SPEAKER_03: I just think that this year a lot has gone wrong.
- 29:12SPEAKER_03: They yeah, they lost at one point, I think they lost a couple guys on the offensive line.
- 29:16SPEAKER_05: Well, yeah, I mean, bro, that's what I'm saying.
- 29:18SPEAKER_05: Like, I was just about to say that to you, where like each NFL team is going into the season basically saying, we can count on this guy, we can count on this guy, we can count on this guy.
- 29:29SPEAKER_05: And although depth is important and you want to make sure you have quality depth at you know, across the the board when you're building your team, uh still at the end of the day, you know, when you lose your both your starting tackles, you know what I mean, for a certain amount of time.
- 29:48SPEAKER_05: You lose your starting center, who you I think brought in in free agency.
- 29:51SPEAKER_05: Uh Derwin James obviously has missed a little bit of time.
- 29:54SPEAKER_05: It's hard when not only are you missing like good starters, you're missing your highest quality, most profitable, most important position starters.
- 30:04SPEAKER_05: You know what I mean?
- 30:04SPEAKER_05: Derwin James is the X factor of their defense.
- 30:08SPEAKER_05: You know what I mean?
- 30:09SPEAKER_05: He he makes it all go in a way.
- 30:11SPEAKER_05: Um, but there's been some positives, you know.
- 30:14SPEAKER_05: When I when I watch the Chargers, man, I think of that young tackle, uh Burke, uh Travis Burke, man.
- 30:18SPEAKER_05: He's he's good, bro.
- 30:20SPEAKER_05: Like he's come in and he's been really, really sound for them, you know what I mean?
- 30:23SPEAKER_05: And playing hard as hell.
- 30:25SPEAKER_05: Uh the young kid uh from Miami, Mesador.
- 30:27SPEAKER_05: Uh oh yeah, yeah, King Mesador, yeah.
- 30:29SPEAKER_05: Yeah, man.
- 30:29SPEAKER_05: I think he's he's been really good for them, man.
- 30:31SPEAKER_05: Uh Khalil Mack's still out there getting it in.
- 30:34SPEAKER_05: You know what I'm saying?
- 30:34SPEAKER_05: Like they they're uh they they got pieces.
- 30:37SPEAKER_05: Um it's just tough.
- 30:38SPEAKER_05: It's tough in this league when you aren't healthy, you know.
- 30:41SPEAKER_05: That that that really uh messes with the trajectory of of kind of where you want your team to go.
- 30:47SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 30:47SPEAKER_03: Can I ask you a question?
- 30:48SPEAKER_03: Like from a player perspective, you know, you get so close to, I think we're a couple of weeks out, um, maybe three weeks out at this point, uh, or two weeks uh out of the trade deadline.
- 30:58SPEAKER_03: Yeah, as players, do y'all focus on that at all?
- 31:00SPEAKER_03: Do y'all pay attention to that?
- 31:01SPEAKER_03: Like, damn, like this guy might be available.
- 31:03SPEAKER_03: I just think about a team like the Colts, for instance, that could be going through a fire sale or the Chargers that could be going through.
- 31:08SPEAKER_03: Do do players around the NFL pay attention at all?
- 31:12SPEAKER_03: Do you think to potential trade deadlines?
- 31:15SPEAKER_05: Yeah, I mean, I I I would say probably generally not.
- 31:18SPEAKER_05: Yeah, um, it's something I kind of always have, you know what I mean?
- 31:22SPEAKER_05: Like I've always paid attention to it just out of curiosity.
- 31:25SPEAKER_05: But um OG OBGM.
- 31:27SPEAKER_05: Yeah, no, nobody's somebody from his after playing careers over it.
- 31:34SPEAKER_05: Yeah, that's what he I uh I pay attention to it, but for the most part, locker room, not really most guys aren't really keen into that.
- 31:42SPEAKER_05: Like it might be a few dudes that's that's looking at it, but um it's hard, it's hard for it's hard to really say like trading for a guy at this point in the season, like he is that much of a difference for what you are lacking.
- 31:58SPEAKER_05: You know what I'm saying?
- 31:59SPEAKER_05: No, I've been following it.
- 32:00SPEAKER_05: It's just it's rare, you know.
- 32:01SPEAKER_05: I I think there's only been a few examples that really come to mind for me.
- 32:04SPEAKER_05: Like, I think last year, um, Baltimore traded for uh uh what's my guy in New England?
- 32:10SPEAKER_05: Draymond Jones, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 32:12SPEAKER_05: Yeah, I don't know where the fuck I'm drawing blank because I got so much respect for his game.
- 32:16SPEAKER_05: But like, you know, Baltimore was kind of missing that element last year, and they brought him in, and I mean he was immediately productive for what they were looking to accomplish.
- 32:24SPEAKER_05: For sure.
- 32:24SPEAKER_05: Um, Marcus Peters during my time when I was there in Baltimore, we traded for him mid.
- 32:29SPEAKER_05: Yeah, traded for him mid season.
- 32:30SPEAKER_05: I mean, we he played in Seattle, I think, back-to-back weeks.
- 32:34SPEAKER_05: Uh, and yeah, yeah, we go out there, he had to pick six, he had a pick six in his first game with us.
- 32:40SPEAKER_05: So, um, but it's very rare though, I feel like a team is able to trade for a guy mid season and he he makes that much of a difference, you know what I'm saying?
- 32:49SPEAKER_03: Marcus Peters is probably sorry, I gotta produce one of the realests.
- 32:53SPEAKER_03: He is probably one of my favorite cornerbacks of the modern day era.
- 32:57SPEAKER_03: Bro, I feel you.
- 32:58SPEAKER_03: It it is crazy when you look at a cornerback, bro, that can make game-changing plays out there.
- 33:02SPEAKER_03: It's almost like he was magnetic when it came to yeah, you know, making a quarterback, you know, baiting a quarterback into an errant throw.
- 33:09SPEAKER_05: Yep, that was him through and through, bro.
- 33:11SPEAKER_05: Bro, he was just really, really intelligent.
- 33:13SPEAKER_05: Yeah, he took a lot of risks, like in terms of jumping routes and understand the coverages.
- 33:18SPEAKER_05: Um, but yeah, bro, like I remember we were on the flight because it's funny, like we on the flight to Seattle uh for his first start, and you know, Juice is so yay area, like Marcus Peters is uh Oakland to death.
- 33:31SPEAKER_05: So he heay, uh like he all the way through.
- 33:35SPEAKER_05: And uh, you know, he's sitting on me next to the plane, and uh, you know, I ask him, like, yo, what's Seattle be running?
- 33:41SPEAKER_05: I knew he was in LA for a little bit.
- 33:43SPEAKER_05: I'm like, what's Seattle be running?
- 33:44SPEAKER_05: Man, what they like to run, and he like, oh shit, simple concepts, hey, real simple.
- 33:50SPEAKER_05: Like, you know, they gonna get you just I'm telling you right now, if they line up in the empty and 14 over here and 16 at this spot, jumping and already know he's throwing it to the flat.
- 34:00SPEAKER_05: And sure enough, bro.
- 34:01SPEAKER_05: I his first pick as in a ravens uniform, snatched that whatever that quick slance drag concept was.
- 34:08SPEAKER_05: He took that joint to the crib right away.
- 34:10SPEAKER_05: So, like I said, he was just he was an overall dog, though.
- 34:13SPEAKER_05: He's gonna he's a gamer.
- 34:14SPEAKER_03: He meant he played for what the Rams, yeah.
- 34:16SPEAKER_05: He played for the Ravens, yeah, drafted for the Chiefs, yeah, went to the Rams, Ravens, and then finished in Oakland, I believe.
- 34:24SPEAKER_05: So, yeah, man.
- 34:25SPEAKER_03: Yeah, that's a dog, bro.
- 34:26SPEAKER_03: That's a dog, bro.
- 34:27SPEAKER_03: Uh Mark Marcus Peters was my favorite cornerbacks I've ever watched, bro.
- 34:30SPEAKER_03: Ain't it playing against him, right?
- 34:31SPEAKER_03: Yeah, when you watch the tape, man, you turn on the tape, you you always knew Marcus Peters was gonna go out there making plays, man.
- 34:37SPEAKER_03: So you know what we do each championship week, man.
- 34:39SPEAKER_03: We gotta have some some some fun questions, man.
- 34:41SPEAKER_03: Some some social questions for the chat.
- 34:44SPEAKER_03: Um, but before we get into that, if you guys could do us a huge favor, give this video a like.

- 35:06SPEAKER_03: Please, we appreciate you.
- 35:08SPEAKER_03: Thank you so much.
- 35:08SPEAKER_03: Um, so I got a question for you.
- 35:10SPEAKER_03: Yep What is something about an NFL locker room that would surprise most people?
- 35:18SPEAKER_05: Um NFL locker rooms are like some of the most unique places in the world for so many reasons.
- 35:30SPEAKER_05: Oh no, where you going with this?
- 35:32SPEAKER_05: I mean, you got some of the richest people in America, okay?
- 35:37SPEAKER_05: Also some of the youngest, richest people in America.
- 35:40SPEAKER_05: Uh so it's a lot of personality, it's a lot of egos, it's a lot of funny stuff that happens like in a NFL locker room.
- 35:49SPEAKER_05: Um but I've been a part of three three different organizations, and each one kind of had their own thing.
- 35:56SPEAKER_05: Like I remember when I was in Baltimore, like we played a lot of spike ball.
- 36:00SPEAKER_05: That was like our thing.
- 36:01SPEAKER_05: And in between meetings and passing time, you play spike ball.
- 36:06SPEAKER_05: Um when I was in Kansas City, there was like a 10-foot basketball hoop.
- 36:10SPEAKER_05: Like, so my god, dudes would be in there hooping, like in between meetings or before practice.
- 36:15SPEAKER_05: Like that was like the thing there.
- 36:17SPEAKER_05: Uh, and then here in Cincy, like when I got here, it was ping pong crazy.
- 36:22SPEAKER_05: Everybody's on the ping pong.
- 36:24SPEAKER_05: You see, I got a pick, I bought a ping pong table when I got there.
- 36:26SPEAKER_05: Because to be honest, I never played in college or anywhere else.
- 36:29SPEAKER_05: When I got here, I was like, damn, okay, so this is a thing, so I gotta get good at it.
- 36:32SPEAKER_05: So I actually bought that damn ping pong table.
- 36:36SPEAKER_05: That's why it's down here.
- 36:37SPEAKER_05: Um, but you know, I I uh I think that's probably one of the cooler parts is like each locker room kind of has that own side of their competitive culture, whatever that game is or thing is.
- 36:48SPEAKER_05: Um, the other thing that's really strange is like I I feel like every locker room I've been in smells good.
- 36:54SPEAKER_05: What?
- 36:55SPEAKER_05: Smells good.
- 36:56SPEAKER_03: NFL locker rooms smell good.
- 36:58SPEAKER_05: I've never been in one that smelled bad personally.
- 37:01SPEAKER_05: I've only been in locker rooms that have smelled good.
- 37:04SPEAKER_05: So clip it.
- 37:06SPEAKER_05: Yeah, your B.
- 37:08SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 37:08SPEAKER_05: NFL locker rooms smell good, they smell good.
- 37:10SPEAKER_05: I mean, you got candles, and you know, for most part, most guys got good hygienists, few people that don't wash their ass enough.
- 37:17SPEAKER_05: But I think you know, you need at least one or two of those dudes on special teams or defense.
- 37:22SPEAKER_05: Um, but uh, but yeah, no, no, I uh NFL locker rooms smell good.
- 37:27SPEAKER_07: They do.
- 37:29SPEAKER_07: I can't go my dog.
- 37:32SPEAKER_07: They do, man.
- 37:33SPEAKER_03: Yo, I never thought I'd hear him say that.
- 37:35SPEAKER_03: NFL locker rooms smell good.
- 37:36SPEAKER_03: Okay, okay.
- 37:36SPEAKER_03: You learn something new every single day because that's not what I expected.
- 37:39SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I always wondered like what the dynamic was because like after practice, do but are there people that just kind of like chill in the locker room after practice and just hang out, or do people like get up?
- 37:48SPEAKER_05: I'm going home, I'm done.
- 37:49SPEAKER_05: Well, yeah, I mean you got it, it really depends too.
- 37:51SPEAKER_05: Like, I'm a big linger guy, big linger guy.
- 37:54SPEAKER_05: Like post-practice talking to everybody, lingering, you know, probably after a game.
- 38:00SPEAKER_05: I mean, I am the last one to shower.
- 38:02SPEAKER_05: Like for a home game, I will I will stay there as long as I need to, to be honest.
- 38:07SPEAKER_05: Like, I'm like, I'm taking my sweet ass time, like like legitimately.
- 38:12SPEAKER_05: Yeah, so I guess you could say I'm a big lingerer.
- 38:15SPEAKER_05: Um, unless I got something going on.
- 38:18SPEAKER_05: Um, you got guys that fly out of there though.
- 38:21SPEAKER_05: Like there's some uh some early leavers, some some consistent early leavers.
- 38:26SPEAKER_05: Um and believe it or not, uh they get fined in no line room for that.
- 38:30SPEAKER_05: So oh for the fine board.
- 38:32SPEAKER_05: Oh yeah.
- 38:33SPEAKER_05: Okay, yep.
- 38:34SPEAKER_05: So we still got how's that going?
- 38:35SPEAKER_05: That's going good.
- 38:36SPEAKER_05: It's going really good.
- 38:36SPEAKER_05: Uh yeah, first uh first set of collections actually were today.
- 38:40SPEAKER_05: I don't know how much we were at, but uh can't say who, but somebody I think is at twelve hundred dollars, maybe.
- 38:45SPEAKER_05: God damn, yeah, damn poor guy, man.
- 38:48SPEAKER_03: Stop getting fined.
- 38:49SPEAKER_05: Uh yeah, no, keep getting fine.
- 38:51SPEAKER_05: OB said keep it coming.
- 38:53SPEAKER_05: Keep it coming.
- 38:53SPEAKER_05: Yeah, it's going to good use.
- 38:55SPEAKER_03: We want to keep the conversation rolling, man.
- 38:57SPEAKER_03: So, like uh, you know, so so much uh about me and OB's dynamic guys on Inside the Pocket is we talk about so much more outside of the game of football.
- 39:06SPEAKER_03: We talk about life, yeah, right?
- 39:08SPEAKER_03: Because him and I are very close in age.
- 39:10SPEAKER_03: We talk about life, we talk about our different experiences because we have different experiences, but very similar experiences in a lot of ways as well.
- 39:16SPEAKER_03: Yeah, so I gotta ask you this, brother, first and foremost, just so I could kind of you know give a softball question.
- 39:22SPEAKER_03: What is something, right, that your parents did growing up when you were growing up that you swore you'd never do, that maybe you find yourself doing?
- 39:31SPEAKER_03: Damn, bro.
- 39:33SPEAKER_05: You know, to be honest, like I was uh like damn, I feel like I gotta go into a whole spill explaining this shit.
- 39:42SPEAKER_05: Like, so my mom's family, my mom born and raised in Cleveland, okay.
- 39:50SPEAKER_05: Um my dad, born and raised in DC.
- 39:54SPEAKER_05: My dad's parents were both born and raised in South Carolina.
- 39:57SPEAKER_05: Okay, okay.
- 39:58SPEAKER_05: I'm from small town, Plum Branch, South Carolina, McCormick County is the name of it.
- 40:04SPEAKER_05: Uh, and my mom's parents from Louisiana, like DeRitter, I remember is the name of the area, and a little bit in Houston, Texas as well.
- 40:13SPEAKER_05: So um, my grandparents on both sides are from the South.
- 40:17SPEAKER_05: And like both sets of my grandparents, I would tell you, are extremely biblical.
- 40:22SPEAKER_05: Like my mom's mom is Jehovah's Witness.
- 40:25SPEAKER_05: Okay.
- 40:26SPEAKER_05: Um, my dad's mom was a Baptist.
- 40:29SPEAKER_05: Okay.
- 40:30SPEAKER_05: So I kind of come from you know, southern culture, like family.
- 40:36SPEAKER_05: And my parents' biggest thing was like, you're gonna fear us.
- 40:41SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 40:41SPEAKER_05: So like growing up, like shit, I was scared of my parents.
- 40:45SPEAKER_05: I'm still scared of my mama, but like I was scared of my mama to this day.
- 40:50SPEAKER_05: Still scared of my mama, but like uh I that that's how I was raised.
- 40:56SPEAKER_05: So to be honest, like there wasn't anything growing up that I felt like, man, I don't want my kids to I don't want to do this to my kids.
- 41:08SPEAKER_05: Cause to be honest, like all of it helped build me into the man I am today.
- 41:13SPEAKER_05: You know what I'm saying?
- 41:14SPEAKER_05: And like when I look at when I look at my two boys, uh I want the same for them.
- 41:19SPEAKER_05: Yeah, you know what I mean?
- 41:20SPEAKER_05: And maybe they won't be able to fear me because you know it's different times now.
- 41:25SPEAKER_05: Like, I mean, I I used to have to go out in the yard and get a switch to get my ass beat.
- 41:29SPEAKER_05: So like they did.
- 41:32SPEAKER_05: Yeah, no, they did, they didn't have to have to do they don't have to deal with that kind of stuff.
- 41:36SPEAKER_05: But um, for me, man, I I think it's just just important for me to be able to pour back.
- 41:41SPEAKER_05: Yeah, I think a lot of those lessons that I I learned.
- 41:45SPEAKER_05: Um, and one of the most important things for me as a parent, uh, as my kids grow older, especially having two boys, is allowing them not to make the mistakes that I made.
- 41:55SPEAKER_05: Like I made them already.
- 41:56SPEAKER_05: Yeah, you don't have to make it.
- 41:57SPEAKER_05: Right.
- 41:58SPEAKER_05: You know what I mean?
- 41:59SPEAKER_05: You don't have to for whatever whatever those instances are in life, um, they don't have to make the same mistakes that I made.
- 42:05SPEAKER_05: I made them for you already.
- 42:06SPEAKER_05: You know what I mean?
- 42:07SPEAKER_05: Learn from me and be able to be better than me, you know, be a better version of me, your grandfather, your great grandfather, and uh, and our lineage.
- 42:15SPEAKER_05: Man, I love that.
- 42:16SPEAKER_05: Yeah, so that's my answer on that.
- 42:17SPEAKER_05: Like with the insights, yeah, yeah.
- 42:19SPEAKER_05: That's that's the yeah, raw feelings there.
- 42:21SPEAKER_05: Raw, raw feelings, yeah.
- 42:24SPEAKER_05: What about you?
- 42:25SPEAKER_03: You know, I'm not a I'm not a parent, so I'm gonna just talk from a perspective of what my mom did when I was growing up that I swore I would never do that I found myself doing.
- 42:34SPEAKER_03: Okay, bro.
- 42:35SPEAKER_03: This is bad.
- 42:36SPEAKER_03: So, my mom, whenever we used to go to the supermarket, yeah, you know to get the plastic bags.
- 42:42SPEAKER_03: Okay, she would take them and then we'd put away the the canned food.
- 42:48SPEAKER_03: We put away the plastic bags, bro.
- 42:49SPEAKER_03: Keep the plastic bags, yeah.
- 42:51SPEAKER_05: I kid you not, bro.
- 42:52SPEAKER_05: Because you might put fish fry in there, bro.
- 42:54SPEAKER_05: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 42:55SPEAKER_05: You might, yeah, you might put it on the floor.
- 42:57SPEAKER_07: You don't like that with the bag for the what?
- 43:00SPEAKER_07: I am black.
- 43:00SPEAKER_07: You don't fucking really hell yeah.
- 43:02SPEAKER_07: You might put the fish fry in there, a dirty diaper, yeah, the dog, the shit, bro.
- 43:07SPEAKER_05: Um I mean, that plastic bag is getting you.
- 43:10SPEAKER_05: You might go to your homeboy house and oh, I did put your clothes in there.
- 43:14SPEAKER_05: Yeah, no, we're already done.
- 43:16SPEAKER_03: I have a dedicated drawer in my kitchen.
- 43:20SPEAKER_03: That's a culture thing, bro.
- 43:21SPEAKER_03: I do too.
- 43:22SPEAKER_03: Marissa daddy could tell you we I have a dedicated drawer in my kitchen.
- 43:27SPEAKER_03: We're probably I kid you not, bro.
- 43:28SPEAKER_03: I God is my witness if I'm lying.
- 43:30SPEAKER_03: 2,000 probably like like small bags in there, bro.
- 43:33SPEAKER_03: Damn, well, that's a culture thing.
- 43:34SPEAKER_03: I do too, to be honest.
- 43:36SPEAKER_03: Like, okay, yeah, you're not a log.
- 43:37SPEAKER_03: You're not a log.
- 43:38SPEAKER_03: Yeah, okay.
- 43:38SPEAKER_03: My whole family cue to Michael Jackson's on you are not alone.
- 43:41SPEAKER_03: Yeah, like no, I'm not gonna look because that's crazy.
- 43:44SPEAKER_03: I thought, I thought I was like, bro, I promised myself I would never do my mom.
- 43:48SPEAKER_03: Literally had drawers, bro, in upon drawers of plastic bags, bro.
- 43:53SPEAKER_03: And I said to myself, I would never ever do it.
- 43:56SPEAKER_03: And then my friends would come over my house and be like, bro, why do you have a bag?
- 44:00SPEAKER_03: Have an entire drawer of plastic bags, and I'm like, oh, because like, and then I find myself not really having an answer to give them.
- 44:07SPEAKER_03: It's just a creature of habit, bro.
- 44:09SPEAKER_03: Listen, I might run out of trash bags in my house, but one thing I'm finna not run out of is them shop right plastic or them Kroger plastic black bags.
- 44:18SPEAKER_03: You will always see me with plastic, small plastic bags in my kitchen.
- 44:21SPEAKER_03: Okay, so it's a culture thing.
- 44:22SPEAKER_05: It's a culture thing, 100%, bro.
- 44:24SPEAKER_05: 100%.
- 44:25SPEAKER_05: Because I do the same thing.
- 44:26SPEAKER_05: Okay.
- 44:26SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 44:27SPEAKER_05: My family do the same thing.
- 44:28SPEAKER_06: We're brothers.
- 44:28SPEAKER_06: Yes, legit.
- 44:29SPEAKER_06: We're happy and we're sharing that we're colored.
- 44:34SPEAKER_07: Give me a high five.
- 44:36SPEAKER_07: Hello.
- 44:36SPEAKER_07: Hello.
- 44:38SPEAKER_07: Okay, okay, okay.
- 44:39SPEAKER_03: So we locked that.
- 44:40SPEAKER_03: We locked that.
- 44:41SPEAKER_03: Okay, I don't feel too bad now.
- 44:42SPEAKER_03: So I gotta ask you this, right?
- 44:43SPEAKER_03: Keeping it on there.
- 44:44SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 44:45SPEAKER_03: Uh you know, you kind of brought up the fatherhood thing, right?
- 44:48SPEAKER_03: What is the biggest lesson fatherhood has taught you though?
- 44:51unknown: Wow.
- 44:52SPEAKER_05: Um, biggest lesson?
- 44:55SPEAKER_05: Um damn man, that's uh that's a really good question.
- 45:00SPEAKER_05: Um I I feel like uh wow, that's that's a it's kind of a deep question, too.
- 45:07SPEAKER_05: I guess a lot.
- 45:08SPEAKER_05: Um fatherhood has taught me so many things, bro.
- 45:11SPEAKER_05: Like I uh wow, holy shit.
- 45:15SPEAKER_05: I stole you with that one.
- 45:16SPEAKER_05: Yeah, hell yeah.
- 45:17SPEAKER_05: Like all flashes before me.
- 45:19SPEAKER_05: Um you know, it's taught me a different level of patience.
- 45:24SPEAKER_05: Um it's taught me a different level of consistency.
- 45:28SPEAKER_05: Uh you know, I think for me being a father uh to two boys too, especially like um wanting to create like a comfortable environment for them.
- 45:42SPEAKER_05: You know what I mean?
- 45:43SPEAKER_05: Like I I grew up in a household where me and my two brothers were, you know, with both my parents, man, like we were able to cry, talk about whatever.
- 45:56SPEAKER_05: Um, and when I say whatever, I mean whatever.
- 45:58SPEAKER_05: You know, that type of comfort with both of my parents where um we could share and and talk about whatever.
- 46:04SPEAKER_05: I didn't really, I grew up, I don't want to say sheltered, but you know, I grew up in in in my own bubble in Baltimore County, me and my brothers, and you know, we had friends and and went over and and went to people's houses and things like that.
- 46:19SPEAKER_05: But I always felt comfortable being able to share everything with with my parents, you know what I'm saying?
- 46:25SPEAKER_05: And always use the example um because it it like like for me, like growing up in Baltimore and Baltimore County, like I grew up in a really diverse area, you know what I'm saying?
- 46:38SPEAKER_05: And there was a lot of mixed races and you know, different type of money brackets and different types of people, and and kids that come from CEOs and kids that you know, like myself, dad playing the league, and people because in Baltimore, you know, people work for the government.
- 46:55SPEAKER_05: So grew up around a lot of different varieties of people, and and uh it really helped me with my perspective at a young age, which my parents always made sure that they expressed to me to ask people questions, ask these kids questions, like get to know, get to know these people, you know, socially.
- 47:10SPEAKER_05: And so, you know, fatherhood, I use that, I say that because fatherhood has taught me like and really, really brought me back to so much of my inner child.
- 47:18SPEAKER_05: Yeah, and you know, reminded me of what it took to get here for me at this point, you know, physically, spiritually, mentally, and emotionally.
- 47:28SPEAKER_05: Um, it's really, it's really been uh somewhat, you know, a big peace of mind to to be able to share and experience a lot of this stuff with my boys, man.
- 47:39SPEAKER_05: Because um, like I said, it just it put me back in touch with with my inner child and and kind of what helped shape me to a man in so many ways.
- 47:47SPEAKER_05: Man, I love that answer.
- 47:48SPEAKER_03: That's a real deep answer.
- 47:49SPEAKER_03: That's also an insightful answer, too.
- 47:50SPEAKER_03: I think I think kind of like taking our experiences, right?
- 47:53SPEAKER_03: Because again, I'm not a father.
- 47:55SPEAKER_03: I mean, I I got a dog, like Chase.
- 47:56SPEAKER_03: So I guess I guess I'm a dog dad, but that counts a little bit.
- 47:59SPEAKER_03: That count that counts a little bit.
- 48:01SPEAKER_03: I would say like for me, it's just like I think when I do have kids, I think for me is just like being socially aware, yeah.
- 48:08SPEAKER_03: Being socially aware and being present, but also like I don't know, bro.
- 48:12SPEAKER_03: Like, there's there's so much in life, right?
- 48:16SPEAKER_03: That that that happens.
- 48:17SPEAKER_03: There's so much in life that that sort of happens.
- 48:19SPEAKER_03: I think kind of just allowing yourself to be in the moment, but also I think one thing that I when I do have my kids in the future that I sort of want to teach them, bro, is like uh being a friend, like in a big way.
- 48:31SPEAKER_03: I know that might sound corny in a lot in a lot of ways, not really though, like but but being a friend, I feel like that we live in a society sometimes where so many people kind of just are so focused on themselves, right?
- 48:40SPEAKER_03: But they don't focus enough on the their their true their friends.
- 48:43SPEAKER_03: And yeah, one of my friends called me the other night, and she just kind of just told me how much she missed me.
- 48:49SPEAKER_03: And like, because I'm I you know from New Jersey and I moved out here, and she was like, I just miss your your your presence.
- 48:54SPEAKER_03: I miss you giving me good advice, so on and so forth, man.
- 48:57SPEAKER_03: And I thought that that was so so dope.
- 48:59SPEAKER_03: So I think that yeah, I think a lot of my friends will tell you that I'm I'm very, yeah, I think you know this about me, I'm very caring, I'm very thoughtful.
- 49:04SPEAKER_03: I try to be very thoughtful, I'm very caring, and I try to like just be in tune with what my friends are going through.
- 49:10SPEAKER_03: So I would love to impart that on to my the to my kids when I do have them in the future, yeah.
- 49:14SPEAKER_03: Of always not putting people first, but more so um genuine acts of kindness, genuinely caring about the people you say you care about and what does that look like, right?
- 49:25SPEAKER_03: You never want you never want people to question your character under any shape or form.
- 49:28SPEAKER_03: So I guess my my next question for you, brother, is uh I'm curious to see where where you go with this.
- 49:33SPEAKER_03: What is your favorite childhood memory?
- 49:36SPEAKER_03: Right?
- 49:37SPEAKER_03: Because there's so much that I'm sure you kind of experienced growing up.
- 49:40SPEAKER_03: What's your favorite childhood memory?
- 49:41SPEAKER_05: Yeah, I got I got so many, bro.
- 49:44SPEAKER_05: Um, you know, I I I'll I feel like with my mom, like we uh and honestly with with both my parents, like they each had individual things that they appreciated about all of us and that we all kind of shared and um you know things that they kind of like you know, we we did together, you know.
- 50:05SPEAKER_05: Like my mom knew I love football, so she always like anything football related, sport related, like she was always there to support me to the utmost.
- 50:13SPEAKER_05: Um, but the funny thing is, like we would go to the dollar movies like growing up.
- 50:18SPEAKER_05: I remember them.
- 50:19SPEAKER_05: Yeah, I remember them.
- 50:20SPEAKER_03: A lot of people don't know about the dollar movies.
- 50:21SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I saw Little Man at the dollar mid with the movie.
- 50:23SPEAKER_07: Yeah, the little man with uh Barley Wayne, yes, I did too.
- 50:28SPEAKER_07: Absolutely, bro.
- 50:28SPEAKER_05: That's crazy because like for whatever reason, the dollar movie, you get in all the movies that's on DVD or Blu-ray or whatever.
- 50:35SPEAKER_05: Like, so we would go to the dollar movie, we would go kick it.
- 50:38SPEAKER_05: I think it was in Glen Bernie, maybe.
- 50:40SPEAKER_05: Uh, I think is where it was at Glen Bernie, Maryland.
- 50:43SPEAKER_05: But um, yeah, we would we would pull up to the dollar movie, me and my mom and my brothers, um, because my parents were separated uh at that point in time, and and those would be some of the the best movies, funniest times.
- 50:54SPEAKER_05: Like always, always enjoyed like going to the movies like with my mom and and my brothers, bro.
- 51:00SPEAKER_05: Like so many, so many memories for that.
- 51:03SPEAKER_05: Uh, and then you know, I think think about with my dad, uh, you know, and it's like so many memories as well.
- 51:11SPEAKER_05: But what always stuck with me was we would go to training camp.
- 51:16SPEAKER_05: Uh, when I was young, we would go when he was retired, like fresh, fresh off retirement, we would go to training camp.
- 51:21SPEAKER_05: Uh, I believe it was uh, is it I think it might be McDaniel College is where they used to go or something like that.
- 51:26SPEAKER_05: And um, it was about an hour and some change away from where we lived, and we'd drive up there, and we would watch these guys, Ray Lewis and Ed Reed and Steve McNair and Goats.
- 51:37SPEAKER_05: Yeah, you know, like all of these great players.
- 51:39SPEAKER_05: We would watch, I would watch them practice.
- 51:41SPEAKER_05: And uh to me, that was always like so cool and so like humbling at the same time to be able to like take all that in.
- 51:49SPEAKER_05: And and at the time I didn't really understand like all of it, you know, big picture-wise, but it it really like to this day, those are things I think about like as I'm in training camp as a nine-year vet, like like wow, like you know, it keeps me humble in a lot of ways.
- 52:06SPEAKER_05: But but those those are like two two really strong memories with my parents that that really stand out.
- 52:12SPEAKER_05: And then for my brothers, you know, the relationships that you share with you know, your brothers are forever timeless.
- 52:19SPEAKER_05: Because it's like shit, it's kind of what makes those any friendships or relationships, or you know, brotherhood, sisterhood, fatherhood, parenthood, grandparents, like what makes those type of relationships so special to me is the idea of vulnerability, right?
- 52:39SPEAKER_05: Like, and when you are vulnerable with someone and you're vulnerable going through these vulnerable things with someone, you get to know the true version of them, you know what I mean?
- 52:50SPEAKER_05: That's so true.
- 52:50SPEAKER_05: And so true, like with my brothers, like I mean, we have gone through the most vulnerable shit, you know.
- 52:57SPEAKER_05: Like the funny thing is, like with both my parents, no matter how big or small our house was, we always shared a room, yeah.
- 53:04SPEAKER_05: So yeah, like all bro, like I mean, I'm talking like losing socks, yeah, going to take a pee in the middle of the night.
- 53:12SPEAKER_05: You're gonna lose a sock because it's pissed, sticky piss all over the floor.
- 53:15SPEAKER_05: Like, like that's like that's how I grew up with my brothers, man.
- 53:18SPEAKER_05: So um we always were very, very close knit, man, and spent a lot of time, spent a lot of time together.
- 53:25SPEAKER_05: Um, but I mean, I got got so many memories with them, uh as well.
- 53:30SPEAKER_05: Some I can't even talk about on camera because the shit is shit is too funny and crazy.
- 53:34SPEAKER_05: But I I gotta tell one though.
- 53:35SPEAKER_05: I know I'm good on the table.
- 53:36SPEAKER_05: No, you good, keep going.
- 53:37SPEAKER_05: I gotta, I gotta, yeah, yeah, I know.
- 53:40SPEAKER_05: I I gotta I gotta get this one off because it's one of the funniest, funniest memories, one of my favorite memories.
- 53:45SPEAKER_05: So um I I had a homie named Gary who lived, uh my homie Barry.
- 53:52SPEAKER_05: Sorry, I said Gary, had a homie Gary too, but my homie Barry, Barry Going, shout out Barry Going.
- 53:56SPEAKER_05: So I haven't talked to him in a long time, but shout out Barry Going.
- 53:58SPEAKER_08: Shout out Barry.
- 53:59SPEAKER_05: So my homie Barry uh lived in our our neighborhood at the time.
- 54:03SPEAKER_05: I'm probably in like seventh grade, maybe sixth or seventh grade.
- 54:07SPEAKER_05: And my homie Barry lived in the neighborhood my mom lived in.
- 54:12SPEAKER_05: And it was like probably a quarter mile walk from door to door.
- 54:16SPEAKER_05: And my mom was a massage therapist, and so she hit, she tells me, like, hey, I gotta work tonight or whatever.
- 54:23SPEAKER_05: Y'all, y'all don't leave the house, yeah.
- 54:25SPEAKER_05: Keep your phone on you, yeah.
- 54:27SPEAKER_05: You know, if you get hungry, it's hamburger helper in there, yeah.
- 54:31SPEAKER_05: Yeah, okay, okay, just be strong enough.
- 54:33SPEAKER_05: Hamburger helper is fucking incredible.
- 54:35SPEAKER_01: Amazing, yeah.
- 54:35SPEAKER_01: But amazing.
- 54:36SPEAKER_01: Anyway, yeah, so she's she probably gonna make some now, yeah.
- 54:40SPEAKER_05: Cause because I'm the oldest, so she give me the phone spill.
- 54:43SPEAKER_05: Okay, like take care of your brothers, don't leave this fucking house.
- 54:45SPEAKER_05: Yeah, all right, yeah, whatever.
- 54:47SPEAKER_05: So Barry calls and Barry, my homie Barry, like, hey bro, y'all pull up, like man, we got we got like some shit over here.
- 54:54SPEAKER_05: I ain't never seen my mama brought home green Kool-Aid.
- 54:57SPEAKER_05: I said, I said, what the fuck?
- 54:59SPEAKER_05: How the fuck?
- 55:00SPEAKER_05: I said, I said my brother Jay.
- 55:02SPEAKER_05: I said, Man, he got green Kool-Aid.
- 55:04SPEAKER_05: I ain't never seen I never heard no green Kool Aid.
- 55:06SPEAKER_05: Never, me either.
- 55:06SPEAKER_05: Shit.
- 55:07SPEAKER_05: I'm like, what the fuck?
- 55:08SPEAKER_05: So, like I said, my mama told me, told hey, y'all don't leave the house.
- 55:12SPEAKER_05: Uh I tell Barry, I'm like, man, my mom said we can't leave, blah blah blah.
- 55:16SPEAKER_05: Can you pull up?
- 55:16SPEAKER_05: He like, no man, my mom told me the same shit.
- 55:19SPEAKER_05: I don't know what inclined me to be like, man, fuck it, bro.
- 55:22SPEAKER_05: We coming over.
- 55:22SPEAKER_05: Yeah, but something when he said my bob told me to say shit, I was like, fuck it, bro.
- 55:25SPEAKER_05: Yeah, we're gonna pull up.
- 55:27SPEAKER_05: Right.
- 55:27SPEAKER_05: So I give my brothers, I got a brother's year younger than me, my other brother, four years younger than me.
- 55:32SPEAKER_05: So let's just say, um, let's just say 12, 11, and you know, eight.
- 55:40SPEAKER_05: Okay.
- 55:41SPEAKER_05: So we uh we all everybody get dressed, we walking over, and my my youngest brother is like he he's the one that's like scared of the ass whooping at all times because he the baby, you know what I'm saying?
- 55:53SPEAKER_05: Like he don't get ass whoopings really for one.
- 55:55SPEAKER_05: Like, but he's scared of the ass whooping.
- 55:57SPEAKER_05: He's like, Man, mommy told us not to leave.
- 55:59SPEAKER_05: It's like mommy said, Yeah, shut up, man.
- 56:02SPEAKER_06: We're gonna be all right, yeah.
- 56:03SPEAKER_06: Right got green Kool-Aid over there.
- 56:04SPEAKER_06: Like, we gonna go kick it for a little bit.
- 56:06SPEAKER_06: We'll be back for sure.
- 56:07SPEAKER_05: Yeah, so so we get over there, we get over there, drinking the green Kool-Aid.
- 56:13SPEAKER_05: Shit was amazing.
- 56:14SPEAKER_05: I don't even know if it was strawberry kiwi or whatever the hell it was.
- 56:17SPEAKER_05: So we over there, we playing the game, playing some Xbox.
- 56:20SPEAKER_05: I think he had Halo or whatever, and we probably play some Madden 2K something, you know what I mean?
- 56:26SPEAKER_05: Or football 2K, whatever it was, K25.
- 56:29SPEAKER_05: Yeah, whatever.
- 56:30SPEAKER_05: Yeah, whatever that shit was called.
- 56:31SPEAKER_05: So we playing playing a game.
- 56:33SPEAKER_05: My mom texts me and she's like, Hey, uh, y'all good.
- 56:37SPEAKER_05: I'm like, Oh yeah, yeah, we good.
- 56:39SPEAKER_05: She's like, What y'all what y'all doing?
- 56:42SPEAKER_05: I'm like, you know, oh, we're just chilling, we just chilling at the house.
- 56:44SPEAKER_05: She's like, Okay, cool.
- 56:46SPEAKER_05: So, whatever.
- 56:49SPEAKER_05: Let's just say two and a half hours pass.
- 56:51SPEAKER_05: I know.
- 56:52SPEAKER_05: You draw, you draw.
- 56:53SPEAKER_05: I'm fucking stupid.
- 56:54SPEAKER_05: I'm dumb as hell.
- 56:55SPEAKER_05: I'm dumb as hell.
- 56:56SPEAKER_05: So two and a half hours pass.
- 56:58SPEAKER_05: My first of all my brothers don't say shit while we there.
- 57:00SPEAKER_05: They having fun drinking all drinking Kool-Aid, eating all this dude's snacks.
- 57:03SPEAKER_05: Like, they don't give a fuck.
- 57:04SPEAKER_05: They're playing the game.
- 57:05SPEAKER_05: So so whatever.
- 57:06SPEAKER_05: So we walking back, and um uh my mom like sent me it sent me a text, like, you know, just reassuring, like 15 minutes later, like, y'all good, what y'all up to?
- 57:17SPEAKER_05: Um, you know, same thing.
- 57:19SPEAKER_05: I'm like, mom, we're just chilling, like you got nothing to worry about.
- 57:21SPEAKER_05: So I'm lying.
- 57:23SPEAKER_05: So we walking up to the house, and I see my mom's car.
- 57:27unknown: I'm like, what the fuck?
- 57:29SPEAKER_05: My brothers look at me, they like I'm not you got me fucked up.
- 57:34SPEAKER_05: Yeah, yeah.
- 57:40SPEAKER_05: Yes, bro, they're ready to tell.
- 57:41SPEAKER_05: So they're ready to tell.
- 57:43SPEAKER_05: And I like it's all going through my mind.
- 57:46SPEAKER_05: I'm like, damn, it's no way I can get out of this shit.
- 57:50SPEAKER_05: So we get to the door, bro, and I see all the lights off.
- 57:55SPEAKER_05: Lights was on when we left.
- 57:57SPEAKER_05: Okay, so you look down from the front door, you look down the hallway, her master, master bedroom straight, guest bedroom to the left, kitchen to the right, another hallway, make a right, bathroom on the left, living room, dining area.
- 58:15SPEAKER_05: Okay, we're in the two-bedroom apartment.
- 58:17SPEAKER_05: So we going, I'm I'm like, damn, I see that.
- 58:22SPEAKER_05: So I push my middle brother in first.
- 58:24SPEAKER_05: I'm like, I my mom is known for like a Batman like ass whooping where she falls from the ceiling, and we like we don't know where she is, she's known to catch you when you sleeping and shit.
- 58:36SPEAKER_05: So so I said my brother in first, bro.
- 58:39SPEAKER_05: This is one of my favorite memories with my siblings, right?
- 58:41SPEAKER_05: It's funny as hell.
- 58:42SPEAKER_05: So telling on who we are as individuals.
- 58:44SPEAKER_05: So I sent my brother in first, my middle brother, and you know, he like, man, let's fuck up.
- 58:51SPEAKER_05: My baby brother, for all I know, he stood outside for the all of this shit.
- 58:56SPEAKER_05: But so I sent my middle brother in first, and he's walking.
- 59:00SPEAKER_05: And like I said, explain the setup, he makes a right to go down the hallway where the bathroom's to the left in the dining room.
- 59:07SPEAKER_05: And so he walk in.
- 59:08SPEAKER_05: I'm behind him.
- 59:09SPEAKER_05: My mom comes out of this shower, belt straight up.
- 59:14SPEAKER_05: First thing he says is, It was his idea.
- 59:17SPEAKER_05: He told us, he took because my family calls me Budo.
- 59:20SPEAKER_05: He says, 'Budo told us that we go, we were going.
- 59:23SPEAKER_05: It was all him.
- 59:23SPEAKER_05: I had nothing to do with it.
- 59:25SPEAKER_05: And she was like, 'You wit!' So he got an ass whooping.
- 59:27SPEAKER_05: And then my brother Braxton, I don't know.
- 59:29SPEAKER_05: I feel like he must have taken a different route to that area.
- 59:32SPEAKER_05: He just warped into an ass whooping too.
- 59:34SPEAKER_05: And then so, like, I blast what it at this time.
- 59:37SPEAKER_05: Like, I grew so quickly as a kid.
- 59:38SPEAKER_05: I like I said, I'm 12 years old, seventh grade.
- 59:41SPEAKER_05: Dude, I'm already like 6'2, 300 plus, 350 plus.
- 59:47SPEAKER_05: And um, man, my mom, my mom beat the hell out of me, bro.
- 59:52SPEAKER_05: Hit me with the damn bat, hit me with the uh the belt, and I turned around, and it must have been after the the 10th hit.
- 59:58SPEAKER_05: I tackled her and we fell on the bed.
- 1:00:01SPEAKER_05: I was like, I'm crying.
- 1:00:02SPEAKER_07: And I'm like, You gotta stop hitting me, you know.
- 1:00:04SPEAKER_07: She's like, get the fuck off me.
- 1:00:06SPEAKER_05: Hit me with the belt again.
- 1:00:08SPEAKER_05: Um, but that's one of my favorite memories with my my brother.
- 1:00:11SPEAKER_05: Sorry, I went on that.
- 1:00:12SPEAKER_05: No, that's I had to I had to tell that whole story.
- 1:00:14SPEAKER_03: I guess the the the side part I gotta ask is did you ever have green Kool-Aid again in your life?
- 1:00:19SPEAKER_03: I have not, bro.
- 1:00:20SPEAKER_03: I don't I think that's a myth.
- 1:00:22SPEAKER_05: There's no way I should have never seen green Kool-Aid.
- 1:00:25SPEAKER_05: And I gotta be real, I didn't see him make it.
- 1:00:27SPEAKER_05: I didn't see his mama make.
- 1:00:28SPEAKER_05: I don't know if they really had a green packet of Kool-Aid.
- 1:00:32SPEAKER_05: It tasted like Kool-Aid.
- 1:00:33SPEAKER_05: Man, that shit was you know, how you you know, when like somebody makes good Kool-Aid, that shit kind of be thick, like yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 1:00:38SPEAKER_05: Almost like seawater, like you can't see through the other side of that shit.
- 1:00:42SPEAKER_05: It was like that, like that, like that thick ass cool.
- 1:00:45SPEAKER_05: Man, that shit was so shout out, Kool-Aid, man.
- 1:00:47SPEAKER_03: Yeah, shout out Kool-Aid.
- 1:00:49SPEAKER_03: I would say one of my favorite childhood memories.
- 1:00:52SPEAKER_03: I got so many man, yeah.
- 1:00:53SPEAKER_05: I'm sure you do.
- 1:00:53SPEAKER_05: I mean, you rub a jersey.
- 1:00:55SPEAKER_05: Oh my god, don't you raise yourselves out there, bro?
- 1:00:57SPEAKER_03: We do, yeah, like bro.
- 1:00:58SPEAKER_03: We do, yeah, like we do, yeah.
- 1:01:00SPEAKER_03: Bro, my mom was notorious first and foremost.
- 1:01:02SPEAKER_03: Shout out my mom.
- 1:01:02SPEAKER_03: Don't don't don't don't hit me when you see me.
- 1:01:04SPEAKER_03: She she she was notorious for saying, um, Khadijah Malik and Fahir.
- 1:01:09SPEAKER_03: Oh, Khadijah Malik Fahir.
- 1:01:12SPEAKER_03: Oh my god.
- 1:01:13SPEAKER_03: But she would say our names like that.
- 1:01:14SPEAKER_03: Khadija Malik and Fahir.
- 1:01:15SPEAKER_03: Oh like straight up.
- 1:01:16SPEAKER_03: Yeah, she was always notorious for get y'all ass outside.
- 1:01:20SPEAKER_03: Like you're not, y'all not staying in the house, y'all not blah, blah, blah, blah, blah.
- 1:01:23SPEAKER_03: But when them street lights come on, you better be inside the house.
- 1:01:26SPEAKER_03: No ifs, ands, or buts about it.
- 1:01:27SPEAKER_03: She was notorious for that.
- 1:01:28SPEAKER_03: I would say, um, one of my favorite childhood memories, I would say, was my brother and me.
- 1:01:32SPEAKER_03: My brother was a huge, huge star athlete, Kali Khalif, man.
- 1:01:36SPEAKER_03: He was he was huge star athlete when we were younger.
- 1:01:39SPEAKER_03: I used to be into wrestling a lot, bro.
- 1:01:41SPEAKER_03: Like WWE, yes, bro.
- 1:01:42SPEAKER_03: Oh, yeah, sure.
- 1:01:43SPEAKER_03: Bro, I was huge into wrestling, bro.
- 1:01:44SPEAKER_03: I grew up watching Evolution, Triple H, Batista, DX.
- 1:01:48SPEAKER_03: DX.
- 1:01:48SPEAKER_03: Oh, yeah.
- 1:01:49SPEAKER_03: You know what I'm saying?
- 1:01:50SPEAKER_03: Jeff Hardy.
- 1:01:50SPEAKER_03: I used to think I was one of the Hardy brothers.
- 1:01:52SPEAKER_03: Um, but my I remember one of the coolest memories was I I we uh I used to I used to collect these wrestling figures, bro.
- 1:01:58SPEAKER_03: Like the wrestling, yes.
- 1:02:00SPEAKER_05: You had the arenas too?
- 1:02:01SPEAKER_03: Yes, bro.
- 1:02:01SPEAKER_05: Yes, did you ever get the elimination chamber box?
- 1:02:03SPEAKER_05: I never did, bro.
- 1:02:04SPEAKER_05: Okay, yeah, I never did, bro.
- 1:02:05SPEAKER_05: Rich kid here.
- 1:02:09SPEAKER_06: Yeah, I was so ignorant.
- 1:02:10SPEAKER_06: That's an ignorant question.
- 1:02:11SPEAKER_03: I'm sorry.
- 1:02:12SPEAKER_03: But um, I'll never forget, bro.
- 1:02:16SPEAKER_03: We used to try to collect all these wrestlers, bro.
- 1:02:18SPEAKER_03: I had a bunch of Booker T's, I had a bunch of Kevin Nash's and Triple H's and whatnot, but I could not find John Cena.
- 1:02:26SPEAKER_03: I could not find John Cena because John Cena was the hottest like action figure when we was growing up, and my mom was never I when I say how I got these action figures, it was not through buying them.
- 1:02:35SPEAKER_03: Yeah, it was my friends just growing up and just giving me them.
- 1:02:39SPEAKER_03: Like we collected wrestling figures, bro.
- 1:02:42SPEAKER_03: Like how people collect Pokemon cards and Yu-Gi-Oh cards and all as a first.
- 1:02:46SPEAKER_03: I don't know if people remember Yu-Gi-Oh! cards, yes.
- 1:02:47SPEAKER_03: Oh, yeah, you know what I'm saying?
- 1:02:49SPEAKER_03: But like uh, I used to have these wrestling figures.
- 1:02:51SPEAKER_03: I never forget my brother.
- 1:02:52SPEAKER_03: We used to do these races with his friends, bro.
- 1:02:54SPEAKER_03: They used to race for money nonstop.
- 1:02:55SPEAKER_03: My brother used to always win, he's mid-race, and I ran up beside him.
- 1:02:59SPEAKER_03: I said, I finally got John Cena.
- 1:03:01SPEAKER_03: Oh shit, he's skirted, he left the race.
- 1:03:04SPEAKER_03: We went home together, and we just just to play wrestling dolls.
- 1:03:07SPEAKER_03: That's one of my favorite.
- 1:03:08SPEAKER_03: That's my that's my that's my man's ever.
- 1:03:09SPEAKER_03: That's my dog, man.
- 1:03:10SPEAKER_03: My brother's my dog in real life.
- 1:03:12SPEAKER_06: That's what I love that though, because that's what that's what brotherhood is, though, bro.
- 1:03:15SPEAKER_06: Like, for sure, bro.
- 1:03:16SPEAKER_05: Like the things that you share are like so sacred in a way, you know what I'm saying?
- 1:03:20SPEAKER_05: Like, yeah, bro.
- 1:03:20SPEAKER_05: Because John Cena, the act that John Cena action figure was that important.
- 1:03:24SPEAKER_03: It was, bro.
- 1:03:25SPEAKER_03: I've been there before.
- 1:03:26SPEAKER_03: You want to hear the craziest part?
- 1:03:27SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I probably collected over 300 wrestling figures, bro.
- 1:03:30SPEAKER_03: I have a bag sitting in my lawn, damn a laundry bag.
- 1:03:32SPEAKER_03: Yeah, you know them little black, white, striped ones.
- 1:03:36SPEAKER_03: I got them sitting at my mom's closet upstairs at her house to this day.
- 1:03:39SPEAKER_03: And I said, When I have a kid, I'm gonna give them all.
- 1:03:42SPEAKER_03: I don't know if they'll appreciate them like that, but when I like I got the wrestling stall, you know, when they get old, they start turning blue, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 1:03:49SPEAKER_03: Like that's that's the ones I got.
- 1:03:50SPEAKER_03: But that's one of my favorite memories with my um, that's one of my favorite memories with my um my my brother, with my mom, and growing just growing up in general.
- 1:03:58SPEAKER_03: My mom, first of all, my grandmother was famous for saying Edna May.
- 1:04:01SPEAKER_03: She's to always say, I don't beat clothes, the clothes ain't do nothing wrong.
- 1:04:05SPEAKER_03: Oh shit, bro.
- 1:04:07SPEAKER_07: You got ass whoopies.
- 1:04:09SPEAKER_03: You hear me?
- 1:04:10SPEAKER_03: Legendary ones at that, bro.
- 1:04:12SPEAKER_03: Legendary ones.
- 1:04:12SPEAKER_03: You can't even lay her up, bro.
- 1:04:14SPEAKER_03: At all, at all, bro.
- 1:04:15SPEAKER_03: My grandmother comes over our house.
- 1:04:18SPEAKER_03: My mom was going away for the weekend, whatever the case may be.
- 1:04:21SPEAKER_03: Yeah, she left already, and my grandmother was like, line up, and she beat me, my brother, and my other brother.
- 1:04:29SPEAKER_03: Yeah, we said we ain't even do nothing.
- 1:04:30SPEAKER_03: She said, This is what you're gonna do.
- 1:04:32SPEAKER_05: Oh man, dog, that's crazy.
- 1:04:35SPEAKER_03: Oh my god, bro.
- 1:04:36SPEAKER_03: That is crazy, bro.
- 1:04:37SPEAKER_03: That was one of my favorite favorite, but like when you look back at him, it is so hilarious, bro.
- 1:04:42SPEAKER_03: Because she's really did build me, build me into the person I am today.
- 1:04:45SPEAKER_03: She always said, you know, don't be a damsel in distress, don't be an idiot, like you super smart, yada yada.
- 1:04:50SPEAKER_03: But I never heard of somebody getting beat for what they gonna do, bro.
- 1:04:54SPEAKER_03: Not for what they did, for what they gonna do.
- 1:04:56SPEAKER_05: That means you was bad as shit.
- 1:04:57SPEAKER_05: You and your brother, y'all was bad as shit, bro.
- 1:05:00SPEAKER_05: Because I ain't never got a pre-ass whooper, bro.
- 1:05:02SPEAKER_05: For I a pre-ass whoopee, bro.
- 1:05:04SPEAKER_06: You was y'all was bad as shit, bro.
- 1:05:06SPEAKER_03: There's stories that I can't even tell you, but like one of the ones my mom went away.
- 1:05:12SPEAKER_03: Um, she didn't even go away, she went to Philly for like the weekend or like the day or something like that.
- 1:05:17SPEAKER_03: She came back, bro, and me and my brother had her ran up the bill, like we had direct TV.
- 1:05:23SPEAKER_03: I've been there before, too.
- 1:05:25SPEAKER_03: Go ahead.
- 1:05:26SPEAKER_06: Yes, we bought every WWE, we brought every WWE coming up.
- 1:05:32SPEAKER_03: She was like, Can you just get a fire?
- 1:05:34SPEAKER_03: Oh, can you get fire?
- 1:05:36SPEAKER_03: Why why why am I charged$500 for WWE Royal Rumble or something like that?
- 1:05:42SPEAKER_03: I I don't know.
- 1:05:43SPEAKER_03: I don't know what happened.
- 1:05:45SPEAKER_03: That's we telling her we don't know what happened.
- 1:05:47SPEAKER_03: We was in that house watching, tell you know, we we were bro.
- 1:05:51SPEAKER_03: I already know it's true, but yeah, you you know what happened at the time.
- 1:05:54SPEAKER_05: That's a different kind of ass beating, bro.
- 1:05:56SPEAKER_05: Because I've been there before, too.
- 1:05:58SPEAKER_03: That's the get in the shower, yes, you come out there.
- 1:06:00SPEAKER_03: Shower extent.
- 1:06:00SPEAKER_05: Yes.
- 1:06:01SPEAKER_05: Yeah, that's all I do.
- 1:06:03SPEAKER_05: Yeah, no, we've I've been there before too.
- 1:06:05SPEAKER_05: Damn, that's a yeah, as a kid, that's a hot tough pill to swallow.
- 1:06:08SPEAKER_05: Cause like I said, it's always the the ass whoopers that hurt the most are ones I couldn't get out of.
- 1:06:13SPEAKER_03: Bro, like damn, I can't get out of this shit.
- 1:06:15SPEAKER_07: Really up.
- 1:06:16SPEAKER_03: Bro, the craziest buttons is like you remember some of the I remember some of the songs that were playing when I got my hat ass whooped as a kid.
- 1:06:23SPEAKER_03: Uh do you remember that one song?
- 1:06:25SPEAKER_03: Um, I don't know who made it.
- 1:06:27SPEAKER_03: Y'all can look it up.
- 1:06:30SPEAKER_01: I told my mom, she shouldn't have been a part of the uh the best, you know, the best fight DVDs should have been a hoop mixed tape, bro.
- 1:06:39SPEAKER_03: She she did there was this one song, it was like uh oh, there goes my shirt up over my oh my god, I will not listen.
- 1:06:49SPEAKER_03: I think Erica Badu made it, or somebody did it.
- 1:06:52SPEAKER_06: To this day, I won't listen to that, bro.
- 1:06:53SPEAKER_06: Bro, that's so funny, bro.
- 1:06:56SPEAKER_06: It scarred me to a T, bro.
- 1:06:58SPEAKER_06: Yeah, it did a bad idea.
- 1:07:00SPEAKER_01: Appreciate you, moms.
- 1:07:00SPEAKER_03: Appreciate you in the man.
- 1:07:02SPEAKER_01: Go ahead.
- 1:07:03SPEAKER_01: I think you got something before we before we jump into it though.
- 1:07:07SPEAKER_03: If you guys could do us a favor, give this video a like, subscribe, subscribe, and turn on post notifications so you guys don't miss when we upload contents.
- 1:07:14SPEAKER_03: We got new episodes of Inside the Pocket dropping every single Thursday at 9 a.m.
- 1:07:18SPEAKER_03: Eastern time.
- 1:07:19SPEAKER_03: This is great.
- 1:07:19SPEAKER_00: This is great conversation.
- 1:07:20SPEAKER_00: Appreciate you.
- 1:07:22SPEAKER_00: All right, so I got four questions for you guys.
- 1:07:24SPEAKER_00: One is non-football, okay, and then four football ones.
- 1:07:27SPEAKER_03: Okay.
- 1:07:28SPEAKER_00: Would you guys rather work out in extreme heat or extreme cold?
- 1:07:35SPEAKER_03: I I some of the best training I ever did was when I was boxing.
- 1:07:42SPEAKER_03: And if you don't know if you've ever been inside of a boxing gym, but you you are from Baltimore, you've been inside a boxing gym.
- 1:07:47SPEAKER_03: You know, I box in the off-seasons here.
- 1:07:48SPEAKER_03: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 1:07:49SPEAKER_03: Oh, yeah.
- 1:07:49SPEAKER_03: Boxing gyms are the the hottest places, sticky as hell.
- 1:07:54SPEAKER_03: Yeah, and they do that, bro, because that's why boxers are in such elite condition, condition, conditioning compared to like MMA fighters and all that stuff like that.
- 1:08:00SPEAKER_03: It's because just by being in there, you're gonna drop, you're gonna drop pounds, you're gonna drop cal.
- 1:08:05SPEAKER_03: Like you, you just are.
- 1:08:06SPEAKER_03: So, like I personally will always say I prefer working out in the heat versus the cold.
- 1:08:10SPEAKER_05: Yeah, yeah, I probably would say the same too.
- 1:08:13SPEAKER_05: Yeah, yeah, it's a different kind of uh different kind of uh intensity for sweat.
- 1:08:17SPEAKER_00: Intensity and sweat.
- 1:08:18SPEAKER_00: Yeah, for sure.
- 1:08:19SPEAKER_00: All right, what is the best place to win a rivalry game?
- 1:08:23SPEAKER_00: Would you guys say home or away, right?
- 1:08:25SPEAKER_00: Rivalry game, big time game.
- 1:08:28SPEAKER_00: Would you rather win it on the road or at home?
- 1:08:32SPEAKER_05: I'm uh I'm gonna go college and NFL here and tell you I would much rather I don't want to lose at all, but I would much rather win on the road in a rivalry and it's a different kind of feeling.
- 1:08:43SPEAKER_03: I feel like rivalry at home would be so dope, bro.
- 1:08:45SPEAKER_03: I mean, I can't speak from that perspective.
- 1:08:47SPEAKER_03: I mean, I've won a boxing match where the entire crowd was booing me.
- 1:08:50SPEAKER_05: Yeah, um, that's a good feeling.
- 1:08:52SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I like that.
- 1:08:53SPEAKER_03: Especially because I I went into enemy territory and I was I was talking about ish.
- 1:08:56SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I love that.
- 1:08:56SPEAKER_03: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 1:08:57SPEAKER_03: I definitely, yeah, yeah.
- 1:08:58SPEAKER_03: I'm I'm a I'm a I'm a party, uh party pooper for sure.
- 1:09:01SPEAKER_03: That's that's me.
- 1:09:01SPEAKER_05: I like that.
- 1:09:02SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 1:09:03SPEAKER_00: All right, you guys need one defender, right?
- 1:09:05SPEAKER_00: This is football in general.
- 1:09:07SPEAKER_00: You need one or an NFL, you need one defender to just lay somebody out, right?
- 1:09:10SPEAKER_00: Set the tone for your team.
- 1:09:13SPEAKER_00: What is that defender, right?
- 1:09:14SPEAKER_00: It could be a safety, it could be a linebacker.
- 1:09:16SPEAKER_00: You just need somebody to set the tone for your team.
- 1:09:18SPEAKER_00: Who's that guy for you?
- 1:09:22SPEAKER_01: Troy Palomalu.
- 1:09:24unknown: Yeah, for me.
- 1:09:24SPEAKER_01: Troy Palomalu's.
- 1:09:26SPEAKER_03: I saw a buddy hit somebody, go on one knee, he was hurt, and he started shaking his head out afterwards.
- 1:09:36SPEAKER_07: You know what I'm talking about.
- 1:09:37SPEAKER_07: I do, I do, I know, I know exactly.
- 1:09:39SPEAKER_03: He would he would lay him out, bro.
- 1:09:42SPEAKER_03: He would lay him out and then jump on one knee and then start shaking shaking out.
- 1:09:45SPEAKER_03: You know, he felt it too, bro.
- 1:09:46SPEAKER_03: He was staying in the game.
- 1:09:47SPEAKER_03: I hated saying seeing flip all the model because you knew somebody was somebody was going out that game, yeah.
- 1:09:52SPEAKER_05: Um, that's really good, bro.
- 1:09:55SPEAKER_05: Um gosh, bro.
- 1:09:57SPEAKER_05: Give me um so many people we could say through the course of football.
- 1:10:04SPEAKER_05: Um, I'm gonna stay in the D B room and give me uh give me prime Bob Sanders.
- 1:10:09SPEAKER_05: Oh, yeah, that's a good one, Bob.
- 1:10:12SPEAKER_03: That's a good one, bro.
- 1:10:14SPEAKER_05: Give me prime boss.
- 1:10:15SPEAKER_03: We picking we picking defensive backs over linebackers.
- 1:10:17SPEAKER_03: That's kind of crazy, actually.
- 1:10:18SPEAKER_05: Yeah, no, because I mean to be fair, like there is a we can name yeah, at least 10 linebackers.
- 1:10:24SPEAKER_05: Oh, yeah, 10 D linemen.
- 1:10:25SPEAKER_05: Oh, yeah, like but yeah, give me give me Bob Sanders, and you chose you chose Palomalu.
- 1:10:30SPEAKER_05: I like that, so I'm gonna go Bob Sanders.
- 1:10:32SPEAKER_03: You know who was uh an underrated one though, really quickly?
- 1:10:35SPEAKER_03: TJ Ward.
- 1:10:36SPEAKER_03: Oh yeah, TJ Ward and the Steelers had a safety a couple years ago.
- 1:10:41SPEAKER_03: His name was Mike Mitchell.
- 1:10:42SPEAKER_05: Oh yeah, bro.
- 1:10:43SPEAKER_03: Bro, physical, physical as hell, bro.
- 1:10:46SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I don't know if there's a i you know, I ain't gonna put that out there in the world, but there's that there are safeties in the NFL that still are hard hitting, but like those dudes, bro.
- 1:10:54SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I think part of the game is protected too now, where like they don't allow you to get those off, but like I definitely think that there some defenders were allowed to later would they would for sure.
- 1:11:02SPEAKER_05: Oh, for sure, bro.
- 1:11:02SPEAKER_05: For sure.
- 1:11:03SPEAKER_05: That that style of of play is like retired now, yeah.
- 1:11:07SPEAKER_05: You know what I'm saying?
- 1:11:07SPEAKER_05: Yeah, um, but but yeah, like I mean it's a it's a few safeties that come to mind where like Cam Chancellor, you know what I mean.
- 1:11:15SPEAKER_05: Uh Cam Chancellor was a beast.
- 1:11:17SPEAKER_05: No, that boy didn't play.
- 1:11:18SPEAKER_05: Bro, he was a beast.
- 1:11:19SPEAKER_05: Yeah, he was physical as shit.
- 1:11:20SPEAKER_05: He's gonna if you come in that area, that bubble, then wherever his rat hole is in cover one or three, whatever they wasn't.
- 1:11:28SPEAKER_05: You you was gonna know.
- 1:11:29SPEAKER_03: It's so crazy too to just think about the dynamics, though.
- 1:11:32SPEAKER_03: Like the AFC North really has some great defenders, if you think about it.
- 1:11:35SPEAKER_03: And there's so many rivalries that kind of I remember the whole Ed Redroy Palomalo, who's the better safety.
- 1:11:39SPEAKER_03: I remember uh obviously you had Miles Garrett, TJ Watt.
- 1:11:42SPEAKER_03: That's that's one that's recent, and then there was another one, too.
- 1:11:44SPEAKER_03: Man, I'm that I'm drawing a blank on right now.
- 1:11:46SPEAKER_03: It was another one of uh it was uh Steelers, Ravens.
- 1:11:50SPEAKER_03: Um, it'll come to me, but it was there were there were so many, so many good defenders in AFC North through the year, so many.
- 1:11:55SPEAKER_00: All right, this is more of a football situational standpoint from a player standpoint, just football in general.
- 1:12:01SPEAKER_00: If you guys are you know getting the opening kickoff, would you guys rather receive the opening kickoff or kick and receive in second half?
- 1:12:09SPEAKER_03: Kick and receive for me.
- 1:12:11SPEAKER_05: Kick and receive, yeah, yeah.
- 1:12:13SPEAKER_05: You know, I'm like really just depend on the vibe, bro.
- 1:12:17SPEAKER_05: Yeah, like I'm like personally, like as a player, I really don't care.
- 1:12:22SPEAKER_05: But I as a I think it's more vibe-oriented.
- 1:12:27SPEAKER_05: Like I've been there before where it's best that we go out as an offense first, yeah, like as opposed to our defense.
- 1:12:34SPEAKER_00: For sure.
- 1:12:34SPEAKER_00: And the last one is just looking at you know offense alignment and history.
- 1:12:37SPEAKER_00: If you want an offense alignment that is gonna set the tone for your team, one play, NFL history, who would that offense alignment be?
- 1:12:46SPEAKER_00: I'm biased.
- 1:12:47SPEAKER_05: I'm gonna go with my dad here.
- 1:12:49SPEAKER_05: Yep, I'm gonna go with my dad here.
- 1:12:50SPEAKER_05: He was extremely physical.
- 1:12:52SPEAKER_05: Um, he played against a lot of great players and was really physical against those great players during his time.
- 1:12:58SPEAKER_05: So, yep, I'm gonna go with uh Orlando Brown Sr.
- 1:13:01SPEAKER_05: in that instance.
- 1:13:02SPEAKER_01: I'm gonna go with Orlando Brown Jr.
- 1:13:04SPEAKER_01: In that instance.
- 1:13:05SPEAKER_03: That's my dog.
- 1:13:05SPEAKER_03: So I'm going with Orlando Brown Jr.
- 1:13:07SPEAKER_03: That's my guy.
- 1:13:07SPEAKER_03: That's true.
- 1:13:08SPEAKER_03: There you go.
- 1:13:09SPEAKER_03: All right, you know, uh, it's so funny.
- 1:13:11SPEAKER_03: We we talk so much um on this show about so many things.
- 1:13:15SPEAKER_03: Appreciate the questions too, Daniel.
- 1:13:16SPEAKER_03: You know, that's our this or that segment, if you will.
- 1:13:18SPEAKER_03: But a question I got for you.
- 1:13:20SPEAKER_03: We both are in our 30s now.
- 1:13:22SPEAKER_03: Yep.
- 1:13:24SPEAKER_03: Do you find it hard to keep friendships, bro, in your in your 30s, bro?
- 1:13:28SPEAKER_03: Yeah like compared to like I guess previous years?
- 1:13:31SPEAKER_05: Yeah, you know, I think it's something I kind of struggle with over the course of my life is maintaining friendships.
- 1:13:38SPEAKER_05: Like, and you know, football really doesn't help.
- 1:13:40SPEAKER_05: Yeah, like I got like you know, I was talking about vulnerability earlier.
- 1:13:45SPEAKER_05: Like, like the relationships of guys that I built with in college are the strongest relationships that I share in my adulthood because for whatever reason, that was probably the most vulnerable state for me and for them.
- 1:14:00SPEAKER_05: You know what I mean?
- 1:14:01SPEAKER_05: Like I think uh about my homie Mark in Baltimore, Mark Andrews, um Baker, Cody Ford, Ben Powers.
- 1:14:08SPEAKER_05: Um, you know, like those those relationships were are so strong because we were all in such vulnerable states, right?
- 1:14:17SPEAKER_05: And we got to know each other for the true, real, raw versions of ourselves.
- 1:14:23SPEAKER_05: Um, but there are so many friendships that I feel like because that didn't happen on the pro level, like I I didn't necessarily do a good job maintaining those things.
- 1:14:34SPEAKER_05: And I and I struggle, I struggle with that because there are people that I've crossed throughout my career that I really, really like so much respect for, you know what I mean?
- 1:14:44SPEAKER_05: But I haven't done a did a done a great job maintaining that relationship, you know what I mean?
- 1:14:49SPEAKER_05: Um so yeah, um being in our 30s, I do find it it's a little bit more easier now because uh having that self-awareness, you know what I mean?
- 1:14:59SPEAKER_03: Um, but yeah, I I think anytime you build an empire, right?
- 1:15:03SPEAKER_03: When you're trying to build whatever your perfect, you know, world looks like, if you will, yeah, it's it's kind of hard to like build like friendships while you're also building that because you're so locked in on what you're trying to build for your future.
- 1:15:17SPEAKER_03: Yeah, and I I kind of went through that period where I was reaching out to a lot of my friends, but then you realize, damn, you get tired of being the one that was always keep the keeping the glue together.
- 1:15:25SPEAKER_03: Oh, for sure, right?
- 1:15:26SPEAKER_03: You know, so I think for me, I just got locked in on like what I was building.
- 1:15:29SPEAKER_03: Yeah, you know, when I when I moved out here to Cincy, a lot of those friendships kind of just you know withered away a little bit.
- 1:15:36SPEAKER_03: You know, I think they've come back recently, but I think that it was just a growing period where I was like, bro, I gotta lock in on me.
- 1:15:42SPEAKER_03: I gotta lock in on what I'm doing.
- 1:15:43SPEAKER_03: I do think when you do hit 30 though, you kind of go through that realization period where once if you if you spend your time correctly in your 20s, yeah, building towards you what you want, because I'm gonna give you all, you know, we got a lot of young people that watch the show.
- 1:15:55SPEAKER_03: A young man stopped me the other day, actually, and he's watching.
- 1:15:58SPEAKER_03: He was like, bro, I love that, you know, inside the pocket, what you and OB are doing.

- 1:16:07SPEAKER_03: If you focus on, you know, building, you know, for your future in your 20s, when you hit your 30s, bro, I think that everything should sort of calm down from there.
- 1:16:16SPEAKER_03: And I think you'll have more time to kind of like focus on friendships and because all that other stuff is gonna still be there in the future.
- 1:16:20SPEAKER_03: All the other stuff is still gonna be there in the future.
- 1:16:22SPEAKER_03: I know that people try to tell you, oh man, you gotta go out to this party, you gotta do all me and OB are both homebodies, yeah.
- 1:16:27SPEAKER_03: We're both homebodies, right?
- 1:16:28SPEAKER_06: Oh, yeah.
- 1:16:28SPEAKER_03: But I I I promise you, all of that party and all that other stuff is gonna be there in the future.

- 1:16:38SPEAKER_03: But I do find it easier now, now that I've realized a lot of the stuff that I wanted to do.
- 1:16:43SPEAKER_03: Um, I do find it easier to kind of keep in contact with people, brother.
- 1:16:46SPEAKER_03: I do.

- 1:16:55SPEAKER_05: Well few peaks.
- 1:16:59SPEAKER_05: Um I think my peak would for sure be beating Wolverine this weekend.
- 1:17:05SPEAKER_05: That was anytime he can beat a role-playing game.
- 1:17:08SPEAKER_05: Yeah, I don't know why it was challenging and shit.
- 1:17:12SPEAKER_05: I don't know.
