- 2:46It has been an absolutely crazy, crazy couple of days and we will
- 2:51get into it on our first couple of stories.
- 2:53But I will say this, it was absolutely heated all day here
- 3:00in Long Island, New York. As a matter of fact, Brittany
- 3:02told me she was at the beach and she couldn't even lay in the
- 3:05sun. It was that hot.
- 3:07She couldn't even go. She was hanging out at the bar
- 3:09not drinking. Why would you go to a beach if
- 3:12you're not going to lay in the sand?
- 3:13That that's what I don't understand.
- 3:15I, I said that to her, I'm not going in the water and I'm not
- 3:19laying on sand because I hate the dirt.
- 3:21So you know, I'm not going to be at the beach.
- 3:23But she said that I would say 85% of the people that were
- 3:27there were hanging at the bar. So why are you going to the
- 3:31beach? I don't get it.
- 3:32I don't get it. But it was absolutely hot.
- 3:34I knew it at 7:30 AM when the sun was paling on my shoulders
- 3:40that it was going to be a hot 1. Today.
- 3:41It's it was like 9293. It felt like it was 110.
- 3:46That's how hot it was. It was disgusting.
- 3:48It's still disgusting outside. It feels like I'm in a sauna.
- 3:51If you ever been to a steam room and you wait until it really
- 3:54just just makes you sweat from head to toe, That's what it
- 3:58feels like when you walk outside.
- 3:59But anyways, I, I don't want to get into this like story and I
- 4:03was at the gym and by the way, going and doing any kind of
- 4:07cardio on the treadmills or the ellipticals.
- 4:11I, I wouldn't even do that because no matter how much the
- 4:14air conditioning is blasting, you're still going to sweat your
- 4:17butt off. So I absolutely couldn't stand
- 4:20the 30 minutes of cardio. And by the way's job, I've been
- 4:22doing this for the last, I would say 2 weeks, every single day
- 4:26I'm doing 30 minutes of cardio. So I'm proud of myself.
- 4:29And by the way, I went, I dropped from 2:25 today.
- 4:33I am 209 lbs. So I get to give myself a, a
- 4:37Golf Club. This is good for me.
- 4:39I, I'm, I'm healthy, my A1C was high.
- 4:42I'm staying away from sugar drinks.
- 4:44I'm staying away from all the different sweets.
- 4:47And I, I feel good about myself. I feel clean.
- 4:50How are you, Java? Do you feel clean?
- 4:51Are you clean in many different ways?
- 4:53Are you cleaning your pants? I got to ask you your future
- 4:56wife. I mean, I don't know, but I
- 4:58don't want to get too deep into that.
- 4:59We have analytics a little bit later in the show.
- 5:01No, we, yeah, just took a shower, feel great.
- 5:05Just looped up the beard, rolled it up.
- 5:07Got it, all good. What kind of loop do you use for
- 5:09your beard? I do, I'm literally still going
- 5:13through old beard companies that they sent me product from.
- 5:18I literally do they go bed and does.
- 5:20Does beard products? Every time I don't, I there's
- 5:22like some of them are still sealed.
- 5:24Like they sent so many of them like still even after I had my
- 5:27beard. And so yeah.
- 5:29So I'm just, I'm just going through whatever I got in there.
- 5:32So I get worried. I learned I get worried.
- 5:34Yeah. No, you got to use, you got to
- 5:36use a different shampoo and conditioner for your beard other
- 5:40and I don't have any hair, so I don't really have to worry.
- 5:42About I don't use any shampoo for my beard and that's why I
- 5:45don't grow it that much. It's it's like any more than
- 5:47Pringley. I absolutely shave it.
- 5:49I don't like the way it looks when it fall.
- 5:51You know it comes, you know, it starts to grow and it looks like
- 5:54Jesus Christ over here, Speedy. I mean, it's absolutely horrible
- 5:58when it Speedy has no Gray hair. He's 30 years old.
- 6:01I mean, he obviously doesn't stress because the guy doesn't
- 6:04have one Gray hair in his beard. If you look at his beard,
- 6:07there's not one Gray hair in his hair or his beard.
- 6:10It makes no sense. Java.
- 6:11This actually comes from genetics of my father actually
- 6:14had a little Gray spot on his head when he was a teenager.
- 6:17It doesn't make any sense. I, I, I have like Pringles in my
- 6:22beard. I don't have much in my hair and
- 6:24I'm starting to get it in my eyebrows.
- 6:26So I, I don't like that. So I'm trying to tweeze it and
- 6:29clean it off. I want to look freshly.
- 6:32I don't know if I have any in my hair.
- 6:33I have definitely have it in my beard but like if I trim my like
- 6:36sideburn and trim this up, it's it's not.
- 6:38As I'm saying, I trim it down so you really can't notice the Gray
- 6:41in my beard. And I, I kind of look sexy with
- 6:44a, you know, a short beard. I, I can't put any.
- 6:48Yes, I think I'm sexy. What's the longest you've ever
- 6:50grown it? The longest I've ever grown it
- 6:54probably speedies. Like what the way speedies looks
- 6:57right now, I grew it like that probably in my 20s.
- 7:00I was in Germany and I'll tell you guys a quick story.
- 7:02I was in Germany and for like 3-4 weeks I was like, you know
- 7:06what, I'm going absolute bum look and I grew my hair out
- 7:11calling me a bum. No, no, no, I went bum look.
- 7:14I didn't even shave. I didn't even clean it.
- 7:17I just was growing out and I, I looked like a bum, but I wore, I
- 7:22wore a backwards hat, which I don't usually do unless I'm
- 7:26playing sports. You will never see me really
- 7:28wear a backwards hat. So I, I like to wear it, you
- 7:31know, obviously front words and, and, and I like, I like that
- 7:34kind of style. But nevertheless, when I do go
- 7:37out and I, I try to, you know, show my, my sexiness to the
- 7:43women or my girlfriend because I don't want to get myself into
- 7:46trouble tonight. I like to keep it fresh and, and
- 7:50when it's fresh and it's clean and by the way, I, I shave in
- 7:56the shower, so I don't use any shaving cream or anything.
- 8:00I use hot water. I let it like breed, breed.
- 8:04I like to breathe my, my face. As everybody says, ice breed.
- 8:10Who who uses breath? That just tells you, ladies and
- 8:12gentlemen, I am. Do you have a?
- 8:13Mirror. Do you have a mirror or you just
- 8:15go raw? No, I go raw.
- 8:18I go raw. Well I know you go raw shaving,
- 8:20but do you have a mirror so you can see?
- 8:21Not really. I just know my I know my face
- 8:24and I know the lines. I follow the lines on my face
- 8:27and I cut pretty straight. So I'm actually doing it for
- 8:31such a long time. The first time I learned how to
- 8:34shave, ladies and gentlemen, I went into my father's bathroom
- 8:37and he had these BIC, you know, shavers.
- 8:40And I was like, oh, this is cool.
- 8:41I I like whiskers when I was like 16 years old and I was
- 8:45like. Was that the was that the one
- 8:47blade blade? Yeah, yeah, dude.
- 8:49I, I ripped my face so bad I, I look like I was in like a
- 8:55catfight with somebody and I never did that again.
- 8:59And I actually, usually your father teaches you how to use a
- 9:03razor. I had to learn the hard way.
- 9:05That's how I learned how to use a razor.
- 9:07So true story. The first time I absolutely use,
- 9:11the first time I actually used a razor, I was in my father's
- 9:15bathroom trying his BIC razor, the one bladed razor, which is
- 9:19absolutely, absolutely horrible. Anyways, mlbsmlb.com's Mark Fine
- 9:25said Feinstein reports that the Guardians are looking to trade
- 9:29outfielder Stephen Kwan and pitcher Shane Bieber in a
- 9:32package deal. MLB dot coms Brian Murphy
- 9:35reports that the Mariners, Cubs, Tigers and Phillies are the four
- 9:39teams most likely to trade for Diamondbacks third baseman
- 9:43Suarez. The Athletic reports that the
- 9:46Astros are interested in trading for Dylan CS from the Padres and
- 9:51also trading with the Twins to reunite with Carlos Correa.
- 9:57The Mets have traded for three relievers, trading for lefty
- 10:01Gregory Soto from the Orioles on Sunday and then today trading
- 10:06for Tyler Rogers from the Giants and All Star Ryan Hesley from
- 10:11thecardinals.mlb.com reports that the Mets are interested in
- 10:15trading for a center fielder, with Cedric Mullins from the
- 10:20Orioles and Louise Robert from the White Sox being the most
- 10:23likely candidates. The Yankees have traded for
- 10:26outfielder Austin Slater from the White Sox, and reports say
- 10:30that the Yankees are done trading for bats.
- 10:33Also, after also trading for Ryan McMahon and and Ahmed
- 10:39Rosario, the Yankees are still interested and expected to go
- 10:43after pitchers like Meryl Kelly, Zach Golan, Mitch Keller or even
- 10:49Sandy Alcantara all being targets for the Yankees.
- 10:54The Yankees are still car targeting several big name
- 10:57relievers including Athletics closer Mason Miller and Pirates
- 11:01closer David Bednar. So I mean and I again, I'm not
- 11:07going to say this about the Yankees.
- 11:08I always have said this over over and over again about the
- 11:13Yankees. Yankees are always going to be
- 11:14buyers and I I'll talk about the Yankees.
- 11:17I'll go into them. The Mets aren't done guys.
- 11:19The Mets are going to add another bat.
- 11:21They're probably going to end a center fielder.
- 11:23We just mentioned two guys that are definitely guys that the
- 11:26Mets are going to be gunning for.
- 11:28Louise Robert being one of them. If if he does, if he does become
- 11:32available, the White Sox have said, you know, numerous amount
- 11:34of times you're going to have to give us a top prospect if if you
- 11:40want Louise, Robert and I, I don't think the Mets are willing
- 11:42to do that. Now, we'll see how the Mets work
- 11:44this And and and obviously Sterns decides how he's going to
- 11:48attack this. But I think the Yankees should
- 11:51be sellers. I know Yankee fans are probably
- 11:53going to attack me and say, how could you say that?
- 11:55The Yankees are still a good team.
- 11:56They're going to probably make the playoffs.
- 11:58The American League is just awful.
- 12:01The Yankees aren't going to win this year no matter who they
- 12:04bring in. Look, they have Devin Williams.
- 12:06Devin Williams has has played better since the beginning of
- 12:10the season. But Devin, are the Yankees going
- 12:12to re sign Devin Williams in the offseason?
- 12:14After what we've seen so far in the first half of the season,
- 12:16the answer would be no. Now you're talking about Mason
- 12:19Miller sounds like a very good pitcher, young relief pitcher,
- 12:23has tremendous stuff. OK, you bring him in.
- 12:27Is he going to be the the only player that you're going to need
- 12:31to to take that step forward if you're coming?
- 12:33If the Yankees are coming out and saying they're not adding
- 12:35another bat, that's scary. Especially from the age you
- 12:38would think they would want to add a bat from them.
- 12:40They're they're saying they're not going to add another bat.
- 12:42So them finishing off and adding the the players that they've
- 12:47added over the last couple of days is enough for the Yankees
- 12:49to say that that's enough. Austin Slater, that guy's a
- 12:53backup player. He's not a start arm and Rosario
- 12:57is a backup player. McMahon is the only guy that the
- 13:01Yankees are going to have who's going to be starting every
- 13:03single game as long as he's healthy at third base.
- 13:06Now, if they're expecting Aaron Judge to play in the outfield
- 13:09moving forward, I don't think so.
- 13:12I know he doesn't have a tear in his UCL, but usually when you
- 13:15hear an injury like this, it usually means that eventually
- 13:18he's going to have surgery and Aaron Judge, you're going to
- 13:22protect your asset. This is the best player in the
- 13:25league. This guy's breaking records.
- 13:27This guy, before he got hurt, was the MVP of the whole league.
- 13:33It's scary when you think about it, where everybody keeps saying
- 13:36the Yankees, the Yankees, the Yankees, we are buyers.
- 13:39We're not sellers. The Yankees aren't winning
- 13:41anything, boys. They're not.
- 13:44They have Garrett Cole coming back next year.
- 13:47Carlos Rodon's having a good year finally after all the money
- 13:50the Yankees are paying him. Max Freed, who's been a
- 13:55sensational first half has not been as good, maybe because of
- 13:58the blister problem. He pitched well the other day.
- 14:00Still give up four runs. And then you have a guy like
- 14:05Louise Hill who is going to be back in weeks, maybe in a week.
- 14:10You have 4 guys and then Clark Schmidt who's again out for the
- 14:14season and. Maybe next year.
- 14:17Too. Just think about that.
- 14:19This is a team that's going to have a good rotation next year.
- 14:22They should be looking towards next year.
- 14:24Well, what does that tell you? Maybe Aaron Boone's not back.
- 14:27Maybe Brian Cashman steps down. Maybe the Yankees look to
- 14:30another manager, another GMI don't know.
- 14:33Now, as long as House running that organization, I think Brian
- 14:36is, is going to be there as far as I'm concerned.
- 14:39Now, there are stories coming out about a year ago that the
- 14:42Yankees and the Steinbrenner family was thinking about maybe
- 14:45selling the team. Now, I don't know if that story
- 14:48is true as we've seen the Lakers, who would have thought
- 14:51that the bus family was ever going to sell the Lakers?
- 14:53And then they sell the Lakers for $10 billion, right?
- 14:57It was 10 billion. So I, I mean, there's no crazy
- 15:01story about this. The fact that the Yankees and
- 15:03House Diamond, remember George Steinbrenner bought the Yankees
- 15:06for $10 million. The Yankees, if they're they're
- 15:10sold, they're probably going to be sold for 12 billion.
- 15:12The Lakers were sold for for 10. The Yankees are probably going
- 15:15to be sold for 12. The only team that's probably
- 15:19worth more is the Cowboys. But Terry Jones will never sell.
- 15:23The thought here and the process here is the Yankees or the
- 15:27Yankees, My process here for the Yankees is they just not going
- 15:31to cut it this year if if honestly and I, I've talked to
- 15:35fish off off air. He says Bellinger's having a
- 15:38great year. The Yankees got to re sign them.
- 15:40Why trade Bellinger? He is a free agent.
- 15:44If he wants to come back to the Yankees in the offseason, he can
- 15:48trade him to a team that needs a bat.
- 15:50He's batting 280. I look, I was looking at his
- 15:52numbers. I I'll take back what I said
- 15:54about his season, but in the first half of the season, he
- 15:57wasn't playing well. Now he's starting to hit over
- 16:00the last, I would say four or five weeks, he's been one of the
- 16:03hotter hitters for the Yankees. Giancarlo Stand, if you can move
- 16:06him right now, which he has a no, a no trade clause, I'd move
- 16:09him. But I think the Yankees are
- 16:12going to have them for one more year next year and then they'll
- 16:15have one more year and a club option.
- 16:17I think the Yankees will either buy out his contract or talk to
- 16:20John and tell him like, listen, we can move you wherever you
- 16:24want to go. Pick a team and we'll trade you
- 16:26there. We'll get some assets for it.
- 16:28Right now, the Yankees are not winning it.
- 16:31To me, there's only three teams that could win the World Series
- 16:35from the American League. You know those teams are the
- 16:38Astros, the Detroit Tigers and the Toronto Blue Jays.
- 16:45Those are the three teams right now, if you would ask me, are
- 16:49the favorites are coming out of the American League and
- 16:51challenging one of those National League teams.
- 16:53And the National in the National League is not that good either.
- 16:56Let's be honest. Everybody talks how powerful the
- 16:58National League. Philadelphia looks like crap.
- 17:01The Mets have been up and down. Now Milwaukee looks good, but
- 17:06they always look, they don't tell the players Now if
- 17:09Milwaukee has a bat, if they go after Suarez and they put him in
- 17:13the lineup, that could be scary. They had a bat like that.
- 17:17I, I mean, the Dodgers are going to be good.
- 17:19We, we already know the Dodgers are going to be scary if they
- 17:22can get healthy. There's really nothing out there
- 17:25that tells me this is a year where we're going to guarantee
- 17:29the Dodgers are going to win a World Series or maybe the
- 17:31Yankees come out and win a World.
- 17:32I don't see it. I think we're going to see a
- 17:34surprise in the World Series this year.
- 17:36I don't think we can really make a decision on who's going to be
- 17:40who's going to support the National League and who's going
- 17:42to play for the American League. Yeah, there's too many extremes
- 17:45right now when you look at the National League because the
- 17:46Brewers, I don't know if they have enough offense.
- 17:48The Cubs have the best run differential in the National
- 17:50League, but I don't know even know if they have enough
- 17:51pitching right now. And they haven't really done
- 17:53enough addressing the pitching right now.
- 17:55They're probably right now unless they get one of those two
- 17:58relievers you mentioned for the Yankees, they're the biggest
- 18:00loser and not dressing their bullpen enough because the
- 18:02Phillies get Joanne Duran and the Mets got a bunch of
- 18:05relievers. Helsley was probably, I don't
- 18:07know if the Cardinals would have trained in division with the
- 18:09Cubs, but they he's a very good left-handed reliever and the
- 18:14other one too. And Tyler Rogers was a submarine
- 18:15reliever that could have been somebody that the Cubs could
- 18:17have used. I like both those moves for the
- 18:18Mets. A lot of people are saying that
- 18:19they overpaid too much for Rogers giving up too much.
- 18:21But you look at the type of steady, not a durable reliever
- 18:25that he is. He has a 18 ERA this year and he
- 18:28said a two pretty much under 2 pretty much every other year.
- 18:31So I like he. Has the most appearances out of
- 18:33the bullpen since 2020. Yes, and he hasn't gotten hurt
- 18:36much. Obviously, he's a submariner, so
- 18:38he's not throwing hard and not a high strikeout rate.
- 18:40But again, it's something that could be a good change of pace
- 18:42in that bullpen, too, to go along with Helsley and go along
- 18:44with Gregory Soto. The Mets have needed lefties for
- 18:46a while as well as far as the Yankees go.
- 18:49Yeah. It's interesting because you
- 18:50want to know if there's any pictures you would consider
- 18:52resigning As a result of that, Gallon and Alcantara will be the
- 18:55likely candidates, Merrill Kelly's 36 and I think the
- 19:00other. Picture I hope they don't get
- 19:01Alcantara because I'm worried. You know why?
- 19:03Because I can't pronounce his last name.
- 19:06I'm a little worried about Alcantara too.
- 19:08I like gallon stuff at this point a little more even though
- 19:10Alcantara as a youngster. Was really sandy?
- 19:15Yeah, that'll be called Alderson I.
- 19:17Thank God I don't have any salt in my pants, if you know what I
- 19:20mean. Good.
- 19:22Have some rust there if the Yankees.
- 19:23Trade for him. Now you have to get your dog a
- 19:25Jersey. Where's the loop, Jabba?
- 19:29It's on his beard. With his with his 10 year old
- 19:32beard. Beard products from his first
- 19:34e-mail address. There's.
- 19:36A lot of money in that beard, Boo.
- 19:39And how about the Mets? And how about the Mets?
- 19:41I, I don't think if the Mets have a chance to win, it's this
- 19:44year because it's wide open. It is wide open right now.
- 19:48And adding three relief pitchers and an All Star relief pitcher
- 19:51that to me the Mets are all in. Stern is all in right now and
- 19:55he's going, I think he's going to add another bat.
- 19:58I if they're, and I know Mets are sitting here.
- 20:00The last time the Mets were in the World Series in 2016.
- 20:02If anybody doesn't win 2015. And Jabba's Jabba's Royals took
- 20:06us down. I I remember that, but the fact
- 20:10here is the Mets have the best chance.
- 20:13This is the best team the Mets have had since then and that was
- 20:16because of their rotation. I think it's because of the Mets
- 20:19depth in their in their, in their lineup, in their lineup,
- 20:24in their bow pins. Now it has a lot of depth too,
- 20:27and something that the Mets have not really had over the years.
- 20:30If you remember in that years, I think Rodriguez was their
- 20:32closure. They had they had a combination
- 20:35of different guys cuz Familia was the closer but he was up and
- 20:37down throughout the year. Then they traded for Tyler
- 20:39Clipper. And Rodriguez wasn't on that
- 20:41team. No, he was gone.
- 20:41I think he was with the Brewers at.
- 20:42That point, yeah, he was gone. Yeah.
- 20:45But yeah, that, but that's. What there's a?
- 20:46Couple that's the pattern of what I.
- 20:48Just remember what he did to his his stepfather or his
- 20:50father-in-law. That was father-in-law.
- 20:52That's. The Mets have had that pattern
- 20:53for a while. They've gone after the flashy
- 20:55relievers and outside of Billy Wagner, they flamed out pretty
- 20:58much every time that they've gone there.
- 20:59Now it's worked out with Diaz, obviously, but this is a
- 21:01different approach they're taking this year.
- 21:02Finally going for a little more bullpen depth, as you see, and
- 21:05same kind of thing with the lineup, too, now that the young
- 21:07players are starting to hit with the toes and Beatty, they're not
- 21:10going to be traded. You should be happy you're a Met
- 21:12fan. And I'm, I'm a lot of Met fans
- 21:13out there. I've, I have a lot of Met
- 21:15friends. There are a lot of guys are
- 21:17reaching out to me and telling me, oh, I'm excited about this
- 21:20year. I'm excited for the next couple
- 21:22of weeks. We're going to get a chance to
- 21:23see the Mets make a run and have a chance to win and maybe even
- 21:27win the National League. Now the Mets are going to have
- 21:29to go on a, you know, a 10 or 11 game-winning streak in.
- 21:32But if the Mets had a bat, they have the Tal Vientos is
- 21:35sensational now he can't play the fields.
- 21:38He's a bona fide DH. And that's the problem with the
- 21:40Mets right now. If you give Pete, Pete Alonso a
- 21:43contract in the offseason, how many years does he have left to
- 21:46play in the in the field? Now he's a bona fide DH in
- 21:50another 3 or 4 years. Same thing with Juan Soto.
- 21:52How many years does Juan Soto have before you put him as a
- 21:55bonafide DH? That's scary, too.
- 21:58So Juan Soda is going to be a Met for life because he's under
- 22:00contract for the next, I don't know, 1520 years.
- 22:03I mean, the Mets giving him those extensions that they give.
- 22:05Yeah. And, and now you have guys like
- 22:09Lindor and and all these other guys.
- 22:11Lindor's getting up there in age.
- 22:12Lindor signed a long term deal. So I, I think that obviously if
- 22:16the Mets have a chance to win, it's now the next two or three
- 22:20years. And I do remember what Uncle
- 22:21Stevie said when he took over this team.
- 22:23He said 5 of years, where are we?
- 22:25Where are we in right now? We're technically 5 1/2.
- 22:27Because 5 1/2 So if there's a time that the Mets could pull
- 22:32off a championship win, it's now.
- 22:35And then what is Uncle Stevie said maybe I was a year off.
- 22:38But hey, yeah, you know, I'm not going to, I'm not going to dish
- 22:41it and twish it. I I just spend the money.
- 22:43I'm a billionaire's dishing and twishing.
- 22:45Who does that remind you of Paul Clive Frazier?
- 22:48Is he, is he at the I saw him at the basketball, if I'm not
- 22:52mistaken, he was at a, a basketball event recently over
- 22:55the weekend I saw on television and he he has the ugliest,
- 22:59ugliest suits, man, the ugliest suits.
- 23:01And my my grandfather wouldn't wear the suits anyway.
- 23:04That's kind of know what he's, what he's known.
- 23:06For dude in this one is I, I, I have to get the picture.
- 23:10This suit that he was wearing, he was at an event, he was at a
- 23:13basketball event over the weekend.
- 23:15It was so ugly. I mean, my, your, your great,
- 23:20great, great, great grandfather wouldn't wear it.
- 23:22That's how ugly it was. It looks like drapes on his
- 23:24body. That's what it looked like.
- 23:26So you're saying it came out of the?
- 23:26Board. It looked like drapes.
- 23:28I'm not lying to you. And he was wearing this like,
- 23:31instead of wearing like a tie, he was wearing like a scarf.
- 23:36And you guys got to see this scarf that he was wearing.
- 23:38It was like pinkish Gray. It was the ugliest scarf.
- 23:41I'm like if I say, and I've met Walt a couple of times and when
- 23:46I met him, he was wearing jeans and, you know, a T-shirt.
- 23:49When he goes out to these events, I, I don't know who
- 23:51dresses him, but it is absolutely terrible.
- 23:55If it's his wife or his fiance or whoever he's, I think it's,
- 23:58he's still married. If it's his wife, she needs to
- 24:00get, she needs to get our eyes checked or something.
- 24:03It's horrible. It's horrible.
- 24:06Quickly before Java you go, I just want to mention with the
- 24:08Rob Louise Roy farther too, there was they were very close
- 24:11two years ago even to trading and I think the the Mets were
- 24:13one of those teams in none of the Phillies were very much in
- 24:15on it too. The White Sox are going to
- 24:16leverage it very, pretty high. And I remember I wanted Derrick
- 24:18Crochet last year because I always said the Mets should
- 24:21trade for a younger pitcher that they can sign in eventually down
- 24:24the road. They never did it for a while
- 24:25now. Granted, they've hit some good
- 24:27gems with their pitching and they've made it work.
- 24:28But the White Sox apparently wanted Vientos in the deal, and
- 24:32now they're saying they're going to look at it to circle it
- 24:34around Acuna. So it'll be interesting to see
- 24:36how that develops. But that should be the move that
- 24:37they do make. That's the power move they need
- 24:39to get over the top. Yeah, it's, I mean, I love this
- 24:42time of year because it's it's all speculation.
- 24:44What do they need? Are they going to do it?
- 24:46It's funny because I'm updating on here and this, you know,
- 24:49listen to everybody talk and it's of course we're going to
- 24:52get all those guys back. Like you said, Errol, and it's
- 24:54going to be, you know, cash from from that side be like, oh,
- 24:56that's like getting getting somebody at the deadline and
- 24:59blah, blah, blah. But yeah, I, I mean, Bednar
- 25:02wouldn't be wouldn't be bad. But you know, as I'm reading as
- 25:05it's going like every time, like Hell's a who came off now the
- 25:09back and leverage guys now are going to be asking more because
- 25:14now you're taking those guys off.
- 25:15So it's going to kind of be what they're willing to give up and
- 25:19what they're willing to hold on to.
- 25:22And is it, is it worth like you're saying seller, seller
- 25:24sellers is, is that kind of do they want to like push all their
- 25:28eggs in that basket or do they want to like give and take?
- 25:31I don't. I don't know that.
- 25:32Just sell, sell off two players. Devin Williams, you're not
- 25:35bringing him back. And Bellinger, if Bellinger
- 25:37wants to come back next year, you resign them.
- 25:39Let them go to another team and try to win a World Series and
- 25:41get prospects. Bellinger's having a good year.
- 25:44Teams would actually offer at least two decent prospects.
- 25:49The Yankees farm system is ranked 28th right now in
- 25:51baseball. I, I to me, if I, if I'm a
- 25:55Yankee GM, I'm, I'm Brian Cashman or I'm any GM.
- 25:59I'm not training away any of my young prospects.
- 26:01What I'm doing is I am going to trade off assets that I know
- 26:06that if if need be next year, I still have assets in my farm
- 26:10system that I can call up because they're quality assets.
- 26:15All we know with the Yankees is there's one guy right now that's
- 26:18crushing it in AAA and he's not even in the top 100 right now.
- 26:22And Brian Cashman is thinking about moving him.
- 26:24There were stories coming on the last 24 to 48 hours that the
- 26:27Yankees want to move Spencer Jones.
- 26:29They would be absolutely out of their minds if they did that.
- 26:33Yeah, they would only do that in a package deal for like a big.
- 26:35Name. I wouldn't do that, period.
- 26:36Yeah, you're only going to get older players.
- 26:40You're either going for a top tier closer, right?
- 26:44And maybe they do include like a Luke Weaver or a Williams,
- 26:48because they can easily both be I.
- 26:49Don't think they would have to do that to get Bednar.
- 26:51I think you could probably could.
- 26:52Do it for less. Well, that's not a top tier
- 26:53closer. No, no, I mean Bednar.
- 26:55So I would say Bednar and Jansen would probably come off the
- 26:58board after Bednar. He's closing for the Angels
- 27:01right now. They don't need a closer.
- 27:03They're not going anywhere. So I would imagine those two
- 27:06guys are going to get moved before the deadline.
- 27:08Mason Miller's the big talented guy on a team that's not going
- 27:11anywhere. I don't know how long the A's
- 27:13are going to be like, yeah, we'll just keep a closer on a
- 27:15team that's not winning when we can get a ton of stuff and we
- 27:17need a ton of stuff. So that that's the things that I
- 27:20see Gallon for them. I think the pit, the starting
- 27:22pitching is the real thing. The Mets don't have and job, you
- 27:25say this all the time. Like they don't have a dude out
- 27:27there right now. Kodai Sanga, you can't, you
- 27:30know, we, He started the season. Could you abbreviate what dude
- 27:33means? I don't, I, I we wrote it down.
- 27:36I don't remember exactly. What?
- 27:38It was funny. It's funny.
- 27:39But something about being the man, though.
- 27:42And for example, the Yankees have the Max Freed right now
- 27:48when we go to the playoffs, you know, that guy's the ace taking
- 27:50the ball. I don't know if I trust Sanga to
- 27:53be that guy. I don't know.
- 27:54Manaya hasn't been back long enough.
- 27:56I like Manaya, but I don't know if that's enough.
- 27:58And plus, you know, lefty, you know, you like having that, but
- 28:01I don't know if that's everything.
- 28:02And then Peterson's never, you know, gone this deep into the
- 28:05season, playing this well before.
- 28:06And then you got two guys who you don't trust in Montas and
- 28:09Clay Holmes, who Clay Holmes is completely falling apart from
- 28:12how he started the season, which we know because he was a closer
- 28:14before this year, he was never pitching this amount of innings.
- 28:17If you can get move, maybe bundle one of those back end
- 28:20guys with some of these prospects.
- 28:23The dude out there right now is Joe Ryan.
- 28:25Joe Ryan, that's. The best thing I would want them
- 28:27to make. I don't know if they will
- 28:28though. I if you're going to make a big
- 28:30swing gallon. His numbers have been trending
- 28:33down for a couple of years. He's really a below average
- 28:36pitcher this year. Alcantara doesn't look like the
- 28:38same guy. Fish, you said it.
- 28:39You said it best. If the Mets have a chance to win
- 28:42right now, they haven't won since 1986 and this is the year
- 28:46you, if you had a pitcher, you have a chance to get over the
- 28:49hump and go to the World Series. Why don't you do it?
- 28:52This is your best chance to win. You're right now on your roster.
- 28:56If you match your roster against Detroit or the Blue Jays or even
- 29:00the Astros, your roster is just as good as any one of them.
- 29:03So if you could get out of the National League and you could
- 29:05beat the Dodgers or whoever you face off moving forward in the
- 29:09playoffs, you have the best chance to win a World Series in
- 29:13over, what is it, 2530 years. So.
- 29:16Yeah, and and fish to bring up a point too.
- 29:18With the way that the Mets have done with their with their
- 29:20pitching recently, it's still worth it at the right price to
- 29:23even consider one of those types of pitchers.
- 29:24Gallon still has better stuff than probably you would think
- 29:26that 2024 Luis Severino did coming off his worst year of his
- 29:30career too. Like yes, Gallon has trended
- 29:32downwards too, as is Alcantara. I'm a little worried about him
- 29:35coming back more than I am with Gallon because I think Gallon
- 29:37stuff is still aided well, but they don't have enough guys with
- 29:40length. So that's the only thing that
- 29:41does concern me because even as good as Petersons pitched like
- 29:45outside of recently he's had a couple of starts where he's
- 29:47provided length. There's not as been a lot of
- 29:49those type of things. Probably Merrill Kelly is the 1
- 29:51you would think maybe could provide length as a veteran guy.
- 29:53Maybe that's the move on that's make.
- 29:55Yeah. And as far as the Yankees and
- 29:57Errol, you said it, the Yankees aren't going to do the smart
- 29:59thing. The smart thing, you know, would
- 30:01be, you know, try to get guys for long term contracts if
- 30:04you're going to get anybody and try to get rid of your rentals.
- 30:07You're absolutely right. That'd be the.
- 30:08Smart thing farm system farm system farm system which the.
- 30:12But that's not the Yankees. Nothing.
- 30:13Nothing they really don't. And that's just been the problem
- 30:18forever, right? It's been a problem because we
- 30:20mortgage the future. Well hold on one second.
- 30:22What was it 2 years ago the Yankees were ranked in the top
- 30:2410 when it came to farm systems. For years the Yankees have been
- 30:27there, they just haven't drafted very well and they've traded
- 30:30away pieces for older players because the Yankees thought they
- 30:33can make a run and and now some of those players don't pan out.
- 30:37And I know everybody says their prospects.
- 30:39Jabba says it best all the time. Prospects are prospects, players
- 30:42are players. Dudes are dudes, as he said.
- 30:46So to me, I, I think you can't. We don't know what Spencer Jones
- 30:51is going to be, but I do believe Spencer Jones is special.
- 30:55So what are the Yankees going to do?
- 30:56They're going to trade away a special, special player.
- 30:59And even though I'll say this about the Yankees, they've had
- 31:02guys that we thought were going to be special, they traded away
- 31:05and they were garbage, asked the Marlins.
- 31:07They've had a couple of those players.
- 31:08Nobody said they were the brightest, so.
- 31:10I'm just saying I remember. They've had someones.
- 31:12They've had someones go the other way though too.
- 31:14Yes, so 100. Percent.
- 31:15I have a solution for the Yankees, though.
- 31:17The Yankees, if they're like I think Bellinger's done well, I
- 31:20hope they try to resign them if they're going to keep them,
- 31:22which it looks like they're going to do.
- 31:24I'm sure he'll get plenty of money, Boris guy, but the and
- 31:27they'll have and they'll have the Yankees over a barrel.
- 31:29They should move Dominguez. To me, that's the guy who's a
- 31:33little over hyped. His defense is not good enough
- 31:35to play left field at Yankee Stadium.
- 31:37I I think he's going to be a good player.
- 31:40But if you're going, you have a bunch of issues with left field.
- 31:42If Judge can't play in the outfield, you got to put Stanton
- 31:45somewhere right? You're going to have to do
- 31:48something about left field and you need a shortstop.
- 31:50I'm sorry Volpe is a problem. I got a question for you.
- 31:54You sign Bellinger, right? You bring him back.
- 31:56Do you move him to first base and then you go after Kyle
- 31:59Tucker because you need you need bats in this lineup.
- 32:02That's. I think that's the luxury of
- 32:04having him. It's like you can go hunt for
- 32:07Kyle Tucker. If it pans out, move Belligena
- 32:09first. If it doesn't, keep him in the
- 32:11outfield. They don't have, they don't have
- 32:13enough prospects to say, hey, you know what, we could bring
- 32:15this guy up. I mean, obviously Spencer
- 32:17Johnson, maybe they move Spencer Jones to first base in the long
- 32:20run because some people say, hey, he's a decent outfielder,
- 32:24but he'd be better in the infield because of his size and
- 32:27his ability to take up space. I do believe you move back if
- 32:31you're going to bring Bellinger back and you think that he he's
- 32:33going to be there for a while and you think he's being that.
- 32:36He's 29 years old, he's got a lot of baseball left, Move him
- 32:38to first base. Goldschmidt you don't bring back
- 32:40next year and then you go after Kyle Tucker because again, if
- 32:44you think Spencer Jones is not going to be ready next year or
- 32:48won't be ready till the second-half of the season, they
- 32:50cannot go into the season even with this pitching staff as good
- 32:54as it seems to be going to the with this with this roster.
- 32:58Jazz, Chisholm OK, And you have Volpe as your shortstop.
- 33:03And that's another thing the Yankees got to figure out in the
- 33:05offseason. What are they doing with that
- 33:06shortstop position? Because I don't want to see
- 33:09Paraisa. I don't want to see Volpe there
- 33:10next year. Who's the other kid?
- 33:12Jabba, you say? Lombardo Lombard.
- 33:15What's this guy that? Yeah, George, the Yeah, George
- 33:18Lombard junior. Lombard, yeah.
- 33:20So he he's a guy that could play multiple positions on the
- 33:23infield. Maybe you bring him up and see
- 33:25what he has, but I don't know if you bring up AI think you I
- 33:28don't think you bring up a young player and put him in that
- 33:31position where he could fail. What you need to do is bring in
- 33:33a veteran defensive player that can give you decent at bats
- 33:39because the Yankees, let's be honest, look at the Yankees
- 33:41roster right now. Who's hitting?
- 33:43You got Chisholm. He's he's been pretty good.
- 33:46Bellinger and Judges out, John Carlo, everybody else, Austin
- 33:51Wells up and down, Goldschmidt up and down.
- 33:53They get no offense from the shortstop position.
- 33:56What are they getting from center field up and down with
- 33:58Dominguez? I mean, there's not enough,
- 34:00there's not a this is the Bronx Bombers and they're not getting
- 34:03enough offense. Scary.
- 34:06Think about this. The Yankees have always been
- 34:08known for their power and their offense this year.
- 34:11Not really. Spencer Jones is back from back
- 34:13spasms. He went 2 for four in his first
- 34:15game, and he's for three. Right now dude, I've.
- 34:17Moved moved Dominguez and make room for Spencer Jones.
- 34:20Right now they play the same position.
- 34:21I don't. I don't hate that.
- 34:23What I mean, what do you have? What do you have to lose?
- 34:26I mean, yeah, Dominguez can run a little bit better, but you're
- 34:29not going to lose anything in the outfield.
- 34:31You're going to gain a little bit of juice by just pure luck
- 34:34in in what he does. I don't.
- 34:36I don't hate that at all. You might get a lot for
- 34:38Dominguez and Volpe in a in a deal.
- 34:41You might get a decent a really good player and an arm for the
- 34:44for the for the team. You know, like at least a
- 34:46bullpen arm. I think that there's something
- 34:49there they Volpe is might just need a change of scenery and
- 34:53Dominguez. I think you cash in on the
- 34:54overhype guy that's clogging up, possibly a better player.
- 34:58You know what's funny? Kevin says how do we get Abrams?
- 35:00Good luck. I mean, the Nationals.
- 35:03The Nationals are a stupid organization, so they trade away
- 35:07all different kind of players. As we all know, Trey Turner was
- 35:10a part of that organization. Who was their * shortstop and
- 35:13what do they do to him? They traded him away.
- 35:16So the GM gets fired. So I think of an interim guy.
- 35:18So I guess you could test him out, but it's still unlike they
- 35:20trade a younger player. No, I don't see the Nationals
- 35:23have a good young roster. They have a great young player
- 35:25in James Wood. I think they, they, they have a
- 35:28chance to be really, really good in the long run.
- 35:30They got to figure out that pitching staff and that bullpen.
- 35:34I mean, they've got some players.
- 35:35They got dudes in their farm system.
- 35:39We got to see what they're going to turn out to be.
- 35:40I, I, I just worry when, when you think about trying to add
- 35:43players and spin the wheel, make the deal.
- 35:45Oh, the Yankees could get this guy and the Yankees could put a
- 35:48little sugar on this and a little salt on this and they
- 35:51could turn this into a, you know, $1,000,000.
- 35:53I just don't know if the Yankees have that cliche anymore.
- 35:57I, I, I know everybody loves the fact that, you know, the
- 35:59pinstripes in the Yankees organization has always stood
- 36:02out for baseball. But I the cliche of making money
- 36:05and and going to play in the Bronx.
- 36:07Do you really want to deal with the pressure?
- 36:09I mean, how many players have gone there and failed?
- 36:12I mean, get there are not many Derek Jeter's out there, Alex
- 36:15Rodriguez's OK, or even Aaron Judges.
- 36:17But Aaron Judge hasn't done well in the playoffs, so I don't know
- 36:20if he could take the pressure. We know Carlos Rodon's up and
- 36:24down. Garrett Cole's been pretty good
- 36:26in the playoffs. It just it's a hit or miss with
- 36:28these guys. And then you got guys like Carl
- 36:31Pavano and stuff like guys like that.
- 36:33I mean, I mean, that's scary to think about that.
- 36:36And when the Yankees overpaid him too.
- 36:39So. And then there's guys like Josh
- 36:41Beckett that was just unbelievable in the playoffs and
- 36:43just absolutely dominant. So I just, to me, what's scary
- 36:48about what the where the Yankees are at is nobody in the right
- 36:53mind will put themselves in a position to say, hey, I want to
- 36:57go to play for the Yankees because I want to win World
- 36:59Series, because the Yankees haven't won one in almost 16
- 37:03years. So it's not like, remember, the
- 37:06Yankees have never gone in a drought this long.
- 37:08It usually is 10 years. This is the longest drought.
- 37:12The Yankees. This is the longest drought the
- 37:14Yankees have ever been in. The longest.
- 37:16Just think about that. And we're going on and on.
- 37:19And this is another year that the Yankees are going to fall
- 37:21short. And I'm sorry, Yankee fans,
- 37:23that's what's going to happen. They're going to fall short.
- 37:25And where do they go in the offseason?
- 37:27Do they overpay for Kyle Tucker? Do they give Bellinger the
- 37:31contract to move him to first base?
- 37:32They're going to have to do something.
- 37:34You can't go into next season with the same roster you have.
- 37:37And, and the Mets, I love what the Mets are doing right now.
- 37:40I'm not a Mets fan. I root for the Mets because I
- 37:43the Mets are the little baby child of the New York Yankees.
- 37:46So if the Mets win a World Series this year and bring a
- 37:49championship home to New York, I'm not going to scream about
- 37:51I'm not going to cry about it. I know Fish is not going to like
- 37:55it because as he is a jet hater, he's a Met hater.
- 37:58So I don't know if he wants to see the Mets win a World Series
- 38:01and and the Mets go saying wear the.
- 38:03Mask what we really need to stick it to is is Maddie Capps,
- 38:08who for five years since. He was.
- 38:10A legend. Called him.
- 38:11Called him the garbage from Queens.
