- 0:00Speaker 1: Hi, hi, Hi, Hi, Joel, Hi Dan, y'all everybody like
- 0:11Speaker 1: how listeners raining fin wait what? Yes? It is it.
- 0:23Speaker 1: You're not supposed to have this weather. It's wrong going on,
- 0:27Speaker 1: it's amazing. Oh my god. You know what Mammoths is
- 0:30Speaker 1: just getting stumped on. Are two local ski mountains, Big
- 0:36Speaker 1: Bear and Mammoth are are are covered with with fresh
- 0:39Speaker 1: powder that's nice, like cocaine. Um. Yes, powder, It's like
- 0:47Speaker 1: cocaine covered in beautiful, beautiful. I always hear in the
- 0:50Speaker 1: rap songs that they talk about skiing. Is that what
- 0:53Speaker 1: they mean? The powder, the cocaine, the ski. Yes? Really
- 0:56Speaker 1: the rappers do coke? Yes? Are you kidding me? Smoke blunts?
- 1:01Speaker 1: I think my wife and myself are the only people
- 1:03Speaker 1: in America that don't do coke, in the world that
- 1:06Speaker 1: don't do what's not true? No, Joel do it's the worst.
- 1:11Speaker 1: Have you ever done it? What I have? But I
- 1:14Speaker 1: have never, never in my life. You're not missing anything.
- 1:19Speaker 1: I know. You know why, because if I did, I'd
- 1:20Speaker 1: be hooked. I have a very addictive personality, and I
- 1:23Speaker 1: know this, So things that I try to stay away
- 1:25Speaker 1: from are things like booze, because once I go on
- 1:28Speaker 1: a binge. It's crazy crack cocaine uh and other forms
- 1:34Speaker 1: of cocaine. I don't want to try them. I don't
- 1:39Speaker 1: ever want to try them because of my addictive personality.
- 1:41Speaker 1: I'm hooked on weeds so bad right now, I'm trying
- 1:44Speaker 1: to figure away off the shit. Oh yeah, I thought
- 1:46Speaker 1: you were trying to were I am trying. I'm still
- 1:49Speaker 1: working on it. I just like it so much, but
- 1:52Speaker 1: also it's freaking you know, it's fuck what they say.
- 1:56Speaker 1: The truth is it is very addictive. Yeah, I agree
- 1:58Speaker 1: with you. You're not the only pot head addict I know.
- 2:01Speaker 1: I know a couple. Well, you don't have to call
- 2:04Speaker 1: me a fucking addict, man. That hurts a little bit. Well,
- 2:06Speaker 1: I'm just saying that I love ganja as well. But
- 2:10Speaker 1: people saying that it's not addictive is I always thought
- 2:13Speaker 1: a bit silly. Yeah, that is very silly. It's something
- 2:16Speaker 1: not physically addictive, but it's definitely mentally addictive, right, absolutely.
- 2:20Speaker 1: Just it's like that oral fixation, the feeling of putting
- 2:23Speaker 1: cigarettes to your mouth and all of that stuff. Because
- 2:26Speaker 1: you can eat marijuana, you could totally eat it, but
- 2:29Speaker 1: there's nothing like smoking it. It's also the pandemic is
- 2:33Speaker 1: a little like, oh, I'm so bored. You know, it's
- 2:36Speaker 1: so long too, man, pandemic. Jeez. Do you find when
- 2:43Speaker 1: you're watching like TV shows and movies and people are
- 2:45Speaker 1: all hanging out in like a bar or doing like
- 2:47Speaker 1: things we can't do anymore, and that you're like, oh,
- 2:50Speaker 1: it looks so fun. But just look at Australia. They're
- 2:53Speaker 1: having a blast over there. Really. Yeah. They got like
- 2:56Speaker 1: they've got like under a thousand cases of COVID, like
- 3:00Speaker 1: two hundred and something cases of COVID over. Oh yeah,
- 3:03Speaker 1: they're doing great. They're doing great, and they're probably still
- 3:06Speaker 1: on lockdown. They're still taking it very seriously. You know,
- 3:09Speaker 1: it's seriously, you know what I mean, they're still taking
- 3:11Speaker 1: very serious. They're like, I'm not gonna I'm not gonna
- 3:13Speaker 1: go outside. There's a possibility they probably still have masks
- 3:17Speaker 1: on and everything. Right, I don't know, I'm speaking out
- 3:20Speaker 1: of turn. Hey I'm from Australia. Let me know. I
- 3:22Speaker 1: want to thank everyone for all the love I got
- 3:25Speaker 1: because my my big announcement came out that cheaper by
- 3:29Speaker 1: the dozen. So you guys are swirling in this huh,
- 3:33Speaker 1: Welcome to the swirl baby welcome. Laughing to myself, Swirl,
- 3:38Speaker 1: I was laughing to myself as I was dialing into this.
- 3:40Speaker 1: I was like, I'm kind of playing Donald like I
- 3:42Speaker 1: mean the relationship, I'm interracial relationship with twelve kids. Kenya
- 3:49Speaker 1: Barris wrote the script and it's really really good and
- 3:53Speaker 1: I'm just so stoked. So thank you all for the
- 3:55Speaker 1: for the love you gave me. Um. I saw lots
- 3:58Speaker 1: of your comments and a lot of people were like, oh,
- 4:00Speaker 1: is that the thing that you guys beeped and when
- 4:02Speaker 1: when you were talking about it, And yes, that is
- 4:04Speaker 1: indeed the thing. And I'm really really, really really excited.
- 4:08Speaker 1: It's really cool. Man's thank you. Is it just you
- 4:12Speaker 1: two right now that have been cast? All the kids
- 4:15Speaker 1: have been cast, okay, because it's such a process to
- 4:19Speaker 1: cast twelve children, as you can imagine, and they're of
- 4:23Speaker 1: different races, and they're of uh, you know, one of
- 4:27Speaker 1: them is handicapped in a wheelchair and they wanted to
- 4:30Speaker 1: have an actual girl in a wheelchair and so and
- 4:33Speaker 1: of so many different types of children, of course, and
- 4:36Speaker 1: so to do that, they had to do a huge
- 4:40Speaker 1: search across the country and um and the director has
- 4:43Speaker 1: been doing it the entire time we've been in lockdown,
- 4:46Speaker 1: She's been doing it over over video, over the web.
- 4:49Speaker 1: I have a question, Yeah, why is it cheaper by
- 4:52Speaker 1: the dozen? I would think a dozen it would be expensive.
- 4:55Speaker 1: I thought it would be cheaper. I mean, I guess
- 4:58Speaker 1: if you round it out, we got are you gonna
- 5:00Speaker 1: pay less by like a little bit? By the does it?
- 5:04Speaker 1: But if the expression is when you buy things? Um,
- 5:07Speaker 1: but I know I get it. I get it the doesn't.
- 5:09Speaker 1: But why is it always cheaper that way? I think
- 5:12Speaker 1: the Baker's I think the bakers Doesn't is cheaper than
- 5:15Speaker 1: the doesn't though, right, isn't the Bakers doesn't cheam? Did
- 5:19Speaker 1: you have? It's only one o'clock. I smoke so much
- 5:22Speaker 1: weed today? All right? Who we got on the show?
- 5:30Speaker 1: Who's on the show today? We have Sarah Chalk today
- 5:33Speaker 1: on the show and that's very exciting because everybody loves
- 5:36Speaker 1: Sarah Chalk. And we also have GT from GT's Kombuche
- 5:40Speaker 1: because Joel we wanted to figure out a way to
- 5:44Speaker 1: better explain to people we're always hyping up Get's Kambuoche
- 5:48Speaker 1: and Donald and I genuinely love it, but we don't
- 5:51Speaker 1: really necessarily explain it that well, so we thought we
- 5:53Speaker 1: would have gt On to explain. First of all, he's
- 5:55Speaker 1: a really interesting guy who who made this ginormous company
- 5:59Speaker 1: and is a huge success. He's got a great story
- 6:02Speaker 1: behind it too. It's kind of an interesting just American
- 6:05Speaker 1: businessman story. But also, um, he can explain KBCH better
- 6:10Speaker 1: than weekend is he is he hearing guys, he is here.
- 6:12Speaker 1: Let's invite him in hunt Donald's. Yeah. Absolutely, j T
- 6:20Speaker 1: a gentleman. Give it up for GUJ. Kombucha dud. You're
- 6:27Speaker 1: so young. It really is like I forgot how young
- 6:31Speaker 1: you are, and you've made this ginormous company. I'm just
- 6:33Speaker 1: taking in your your long, your young beautiful face. He's
- 6:37Speaker 1: not young. He's really seventy five. It's up. That would
- 6:44Speaker 1: be a funny thing if that were true. I'm just
- 6:45Speaker 1: gonna tell everyone that he's really seventy five years old.
- 6:48Speaker 1: But he's young and handsome looking. Yeah, and I bathed
- 6:52Speaker 1: in kombucha and that's the secrets of my ntality. I
- 6:54Speaker 1: don't know. Just rub it on your face or something. Man,
- 6:56Speaker 1: you look great, Thank you well, listen, great to see you.
- 7:00Speaker 1: It's so read to see you. This is by the way,
- 7:02Speaker 1: this is Joel and Daniel, Hi, Hey, how are you.
- 7:06Speaker 1: We wanted to have you on Man because we're always
- 7:08Speaker 1: talking about how much we love your product, and I
- 7:11Speaker 1: think that Donald and I, other than saying the obvious things,
- 7:15Speaker 1: it tastes awesome, and we know it's good for our gut.
- 7:17Speaker 1: We we kind of fall short and we've we've spoken
- 7:20Speaker 1: to you about it, so we thought you could help
- 7:22Speaker 1: explain to our listeners first and foremost, you know, in
- 7:26Speaker 1: very simple terms, because you know, you can get technical
- 7:29Speaker 1: about like gut health and everything. But just like they
- 7:31Speaker 1: have this thing on Reddit called explain it Like I'm five,
- 7:34Speaker 1: so I was thinking you could explain it like we're
- 7:36Speaker 1: all five. Why Why is kombucha so good for our
- 7:41Speaker 1: for our health? Kimbucha is good for your health because again,
- 7:44Speaker 1: as we all know, our stomachs really are the source
- 7:47Speaker 1: of our nutrition and our vitality. But over the course
- 7:50Speaker 1: of our lives they become compromise and we're not really
- 7:53Speaker 1: digesting completely the foods that we eat. Therefore we're not
- 7:56Speaker 1: getting the nourishment. So that's number one. So kimbucha kind
- 7:59Speaker 1: of helps restore that balance to allow your digestion to
- 8:01Speaker 1: fully function and do everything it's intended to do. In
- 8:05Speaker 1: addition to that, I mean, we're learning more and more
- 8:07Speaker 1: that our stummics do more than digest food. There are,
- 8:10Speaker 1: in many ways kind of the second brain, and they're
- 8:12Speaker 1: the center of many things, whether it's our moods, our
- 8:15Speaker 1: energy levels, things that we crave, things of that nature.
- 8:19Speaker 1: And of course ultimately they go hand in hand with
- 8:21Speaker 1: our immune system. So I mean to someone all up
- 8:24Speaker 1: that that the gut and the stomach and the digestion
- 8:28Speaker 1: is really the center of our wellness. And so nothing
- 8:30Speaker 1: else will get better until we take care of our digestion.
- 8:34Speaker 1: And and okay, so here's my question. Why does it
- 8:38Speaker 1: taste so damn good? How do you do that? How
- 8:41Speaker 1: do you because I've had other I have had other ones,
- 8:43Speaker 1: other brands, and they don't taste as good. And are
- 8:47Speaker 1: you the are you the biggest brand in in in
- 8:49Speaker 1: the USA? We're actually the biggest brand in the world. Whybody,
- 8:55Speaker 1: look at you? And how old are you? You don't
- 8:57Speaker 1: have to tell me, but you look like you're thirty
- 8:59Speaker 1: years old, and I'm happy to tell you forty three. Well,
- 9:03Speaker 1: are you really you look twenty nine? And are you
- 9:06Speaker 1: really forty three? Yeah? Nineteen seventy seven. Baby, So wait, wait, wait,
- 9:12Speaker 1: go back, because Donald Donald and I are proud of
- 9:15Speaker 1: you the first You are the first person that I
- 9:17Speaker 1: can say, well, you can't say it's not just black
- 9:21Speaker 1: that don't crack. You got that, Paul Rudding You what
- 9:25Speaker 1: are y'all doing it? You're right? That's wait, So wait,
- 9:30Speaker 1: Dave tell us about how will you tell us the
- 9:33Speaker 1: short version? Because you know, um, I've heard the long
- 9:37Speaker 1: version and it's fucking extraordinary, but it's probably too long
- 9:39Speaker 1: for this podcast. But will you give everyone just the
- 9:41Speaker 1: bullet points of how you made this company because I
- 9:44Speaker 1: just think you're also just an inspirational story of creating
- 9:48Speaker 1: this thing by yourself and you're the biggest kombucha company
- 9:51Speaker 1: in the world. That's pretty cool. Well, first of all,
- 9:53Speaker 1: thank you for saying that. And so I mean again,
- 9:56Speaker 1: my company kind of started is just this personal passion
- 9:59Speaker 1: and almost as happy accident. You know, I was raised
- 10:01Speaker 1: a vegetarians. I was raised with the importance and understanding
- 10:04Speaker 1: of how who can be your medicine as well as
- 10:06Speaker 1: your poison, and my parents incorporate a lot of unique
- 10:09Speaker 1: foods into the household. So in addition to kombucha was
- 10:12Speaker 1: no nie chia seed, ali vera, juice, wheat grass, things
- 10:15Speaker 1: of that nature. And so kombucha came into the household
- 10:17Speaker 1: when I was starting to become a teenager and my
- 10:21Speaker 1: parents were making it and drinking it, and they became
- 10:24Speaker 1: fanatic about their consumption to the point where they were
- 10:27Speaker 1: drinking multiple glasses a day, giving it to every friend
- 10:29Speaker 1: and family member that walked into the household. But it
- 10:32Speaker 1: wasn't until kombucha helped my mom with her breast cancer,
- 10:35Speaker 1: which was about two years later, and that was kind
- 10:37Speaker 1: of the moment that we truly understood that not only
- 10:40Speaker 1: can food be your medicine, but it can actually help
- 10:43Speaker 1: your body heal itself. And so I was now around
- 10:46Speaker 1: the age of fifteen. So my mother was my best
- 10:49Speaker 1: friend and is my everything, and so the fact that
- 10:52Speaker 1: her health was on the line and then this pungent
- 10:54Speaker 1: tasting team called kombucha had helped her is really what
- 10:57Speaker 1: became the catalyst for me. You have this desire to
- 11:00Speaker 1: share it with the world. Again, I was too young
- 11:03Speaker 1: to be an entrepreneur or a businessman or anything you
- 11:07Speaker 1: know of that nature, and so I really was just
- 11:09Speaker 1: leading from the heart as I loved kimbucha wanted to
- 11:12Speaker 1: share it, and so I didn't. And I went about
- 11:15Speaker 1: it in many ways or just again a personal passion
- 11:18Speaker 1: and just almost like a hobby that I was happy
- 11:21Speaker 1: if just one person liked it? Right, Well, were you like,
- 11:26Speaker 1: were you liked the lemonade stand? But it was kimbucha?
- 11:28Speaker 1: Was that? Was that? How you? Really? Exactly young? Yeah?
- 11:32Speaker 1: It was like this young little guy sampling an air One,
- 11:35Speaker 1: which was my first store. Of course, air One's like
- 11:38Speaker 1: this phenomenon lately in Los Angeles, like every Yeah, if
- 11:41Speaker 1: you don't live in La air one is like an
- 11:44Speaker 1: even healthier, more beautiful whole Foods, right, Yeah, it's pretty amazing. Yeah,
- 11:49Speaker 1: it's it's a pretty amazing market. And um and you're
- 11:53Speaker 1: really represented there well because you guys always send me
- 11:57Speaker 1: and donald flavors. And I went into to air one
- 11:59Speaker 1: and it was like, where all how can we haven't
- 12:01Speaker 1: had all these? There's so how many different now? Oh
- 12:05Speaker 1: my god, we have over thirty and you're right, are
- 12:07Speaker 1: One in stores like are One, you walk in and
- 12:09Speaker 1: it's like this oasis of kombucha. You have like every
- 12:12Speaker 1: single flavor, every single every kind of size you could
- 12:15Speaker 1: your heart could desire. And that's why naturally I started
- 12:19Speaker 1: air one. And so yeah, I mean I was sampling,
- 12:21Speaker 1: and I was really just like, as you said, almost
- 12:23Speaker 1: like this kombucha stand within the store, and I would
- 12:25Speaker 1: be there or my mother would be there virtually every
- 12:27Speaker 1: weekend and we would just sample, sample, sample, talk about it.
- 12:31Speaker 1: And so your point earlier is, to be honest, kombucha
- 12:34Speaker 1: back then, at least wasn't something that people really gravitated
- 12:36Speaker 1: to purely from a flavor standpoint, because back then we
- 12:40Speaker 1: were programmed differently, or at least our palette was where
- 12:43Speaker 1: it was Snapple, it was seven Up Coke, Pepsi, Gatorade.
- 12:46Speaker 1: I mean, those were really the iconic brands, especially in
- 12:50Speaker 1: the beverage space. But it's amazing how much sugar we
- 12:53Speaker 1: were drinking, you know, like and not like natural sugar,
- 12:56Speaker 1: like bullshit sugar. I mean I was a big snout.
- 12:58Speaker 1: I would drink peach snap when I was like in
- 13:01Speaker 1: high school and then we're like it was going out
- 13:03Speaker 1: of style, Oh my god. And and and of course
- 13:07Speaker 1: regular coke when we were kids, my dad would get
- 13:09Speaker 1: the two lead bottle of regular coke and you look
- 13:13Speaker 1: back and go just just man, we were just pounding
- 13:16Speaker 1: processed sugar. Oh my god, you're so right. I mean
- 13:18Speaker 1: the two things that Snapple did brilliantly is made from
- 13:21Speaker 1: the best stuff on earth, which is like the world's
- 13:23Speaker 1: biggest scam. And then the second one was the high
- 13:25Speaker 1: fud toast corns are up that I remember me and
- 13:27Speaker 1: my friends were like, look, it's it's corn, so it's
- 13:30Speaker 1: a vegetable and it's fruit dose and that's found in fruit.
- 13:33Speaker 1: Like we're good, this is this is gonna work. And
- 13:37Speaker 1: then we all got diabetes. So no, it's just amazing.
- 13:41Speaker 1: How how much sugar for no reason, we were all
- 13:44Speaker 1: just pounding. Yeah, it's true. So I mean that's a
- 13:47Speaker 1: great thing. And so that's why it's your point. Now,
- 13:49Speaker 1: kombucha is really more of a popular thing. Is as
- 13:53Speaker 1: I think our palates and the consumer's behavior has evolved,
- 13:57Speaker 1: kimbucha is a perfect opportunity to participate in new kind
- 14:00Speaker 1: of palate, which is why you're seeing more sour foods,
- 14:04Speaker 1: more sour drinks. You're seeing things that have more of
- 14:07Speaker 1: an alternative flavor versus like the just the highly salty
- 14:11Speaker 1: or highly sugary stuff that we used to drink, you know,
- 14:13Speaker 1: a decade ago. I like it because for me, it
- 14:15Speaker 1: tastes so different from everything else that it feels like
- 14:20Speaker 1: an afternoon treat, like it's something I can look forward
- 14:24Speaker 1: to having, because it's not. It's just it's I've said
- 14:28Speaker 1: this to you before, and I've said it to the
- 14:30Speaker 1: audience before. It almost feels like you're having a cocktail.
- 14:33Speaker 1: I mean, there's no booze in it, or there's a
- 14:35Speaker 1: microscopic amount of boosing it, but you but you feel
- 14:37Speaker 1: like it's the feeling you have like oh cool, days over,
- 14:40Speaker 1: I'm gonna have a beer, but this you can have,
- 14:42Speaker 1: Like at one it's like, oh cool, after lunch, I'm
- 14:45Speaker 1: gonna I'm gonna treat myself to a kimbucha, you know
- 14:47Speaker 1: what I mean. Haw's that feeling to me? It definitely
- 14:49Speaker 1: feels like sometimes it also sometimes feels like a substitute
- 14:52Speaker 1: instead of a beer. You can reach for a kimbucha
- 14:55Speaker 1: and you feel and you also you know that when
- 14:57Speaker 1: you're drinking it, you're feeling you're filling your body with probiotics,
- 15:01Speaker 1: which is crazy to really think about. Like when I
- 15:05Speaker 1: think probiotics, I'm thinking I'm gonna hold my nose, I'm
- 15:07Speaker 1: gonna get it down as quick as possible. But with this,
- 15:10Speaker 1: it's just like I feel like, you know, I feel
- 15:13Speaker 1: like I'm having my evening beverage, you know, but I'm
- 15:18Speaker 1: also getting I'm also giving I'm also giving my body
- 15:22Speaker 1: the nutrition it needs, and that's always a great feeling. Yeah,
- 15:25Speaker 1: And that's exactly what we hear actually from our fans,
- 15:28Speaker 1: is that a lot of people say, you know it,
- 15:29Speaker 1: when I drink your kombucha, it feels like a reward.
- 15:32Speaker 1: It feels like a treat. It feels like I'm rewarding
- 15:36Speaker 1: myself or something great and so, but it's completely guilt
- 15:40Speaker 1: free and guiltless. So it's almost like, I mean, there's
- 15:43Speaker 1: a lot of analogies that I could use, you know,
- 15:45Speaker 1: working out to one of them, but this is gonna
- 15:47Speaker 1: sound like a silly wood almost like dancing. Dancing something
- 15:49Speaker 1: that you have fun when you're doing, but it's also
- 15:51Speaker 1: a great workout. So kombucha is kind of like that,
- 15:53Speaker 1: where you enjoy it and it's experiential in that respect,
- 15:56Speaker 1: but it's actually also helping your body. I feel it
- 15:59Speaker 1: about pellets on. Yeah, Donald and I have both Donald
- 16:03Speaker 1: and I have both been spinning and it's like fun.
- 16:05Speaker 1: I mean, I mean granted it sucks sometimes and you
- 16:07Speaker 1: and you're cursing at the sky, but but you're still like,
- 16:11Speaker 1: it's definitely the most fun form spinning or or or cycling.
- 16:15Speaker 1: I should say, if you don't have a like, it's
- 16:16Speaker 1: almost it's really fun to me. Now, how do you
- 16:19Speaker 1: feel about how do you feel about celebration with kimbuchts
- 16:23Speaker 1: like you know, like I once put tequila. Yeah, we
- 16:28Speaker 1: wanted to ask him because this has come up with
- 16:31Speaker 1: Donald and I were like a lot, we know he's
- 16:33Speaker 1: a health nottter. We allowed to ask him about putting
- 16:34Speaker 1: boze in it because I want to know what your
- 16:37Speaker 1: thoughts as a company are on this, because I have friends,
- 16:39Speaker 1: not just Donald, who loved to mix it with a
- 16:41Speaker 1: little something something, and I want to know what you
- 16:43Speaker 1: thought about that. Well, actually, I'm all for it because,
- 16:46Speaker 1: first of all, as we know, you know, until recently,
- 16:49Speaker 1: mixers were just kind of loaded with sugar and loaded
- 16:51Speaker 1: with preservatives and had really no nutritional value. So kimbucha
- 16:54Speaker 1: is a great replacement for those just on that alone,
- 16:57Speaker 1: but then when you factor in that, yes, you could
- 17:00Speaker 1: argue mixing alcohol with something healthy is somewhat counterintuitive, but
- 17:04Speaker 1: in reality, you're actually reducing the negative impact of the alcohol,
- 17:07Speaker 1: because a lot of people say that not only do
- 17:09Speaker 1: they get a kind of a clearer buzz when they
- 17:11Speaker 1: mix their alcohol with kombucha, but nine out of ten times,
- 17:13Speaker 1: if not ten out of ten times, they don't get
- 17:15Speaker 1: a hangover the next That's what joh saying. Our buddy
- 17:22Speaker 1: Josh Rayden, he we went over to his house, Donald,
- 17:25Speaker 1: were you there? We must have been together. I wasn't there.
- 17:27Speaker 1: I wasn't there. I must have. I don't know how
- 17:28Speaker 1: you told about. We went over his house and he's like,
- 17:30Speaker 1: my new thing at your house, dude, at your house. Oh,
- 17:32Speaker 1: at my house. He brought it over to my house,
- 17:33Speaker 1: but I first did it. He's like my new thing.
- 17:35Speaker 1: I figured it out. You mix any of the GT's
- 17:38Speaker 1: kombucha flavors with tequila, no hangover. And we were like
- 17:43Speaker 1: what and but that's like his whole jam. That's that's
- 17:45Speaker 1: his drink of choice. It's so true. And he's a bachelor.
- 17:48Speaker 1: He's a bachelor. So you go over his house and
- 17:50Speaker 1: the only thing in the fridge is like an array
- 17:53Speaker 1: of GT's kombucha flavors and tequila. He knows how to live. No,
- 18:03Speaker 1: it's funny. I was like nervous, I said to Donalds,
- 18:05Speaker 1: Like I was nervous to ask him, like I know
- 18:07Speaker 1: he's super healthy. Like are we allowed to mix booze
- 18:09Speaker 1: with loose? No? No, listen, you know, I'll let's share
- 18:12Speaker 1: with you my philosophy. First of all, you should never
- 18:14Speaker 1: demonize anything, right, Like, so, whether it's alcohol, whether it's
- 18:18Speaker 1: even sweets or things of that nature. Like we should
- 18:20Speaker 1: allow our bodies to eat whatever we want them to eat,
- 18:23Speaker 1: but in moderation, because if I think an extreme of
- 18:26Speaker 1: anything is unhealthy. And so, yeah, go ahead, mix your
- 18:29Speaker 1: kombucha with alcohol. I mean again, at least it's a
- 18:32Speaker 1: better choice and a better option, right. And and how
- 18:36Speaker 1: are you, like you must be so successful? Like are you?
- 18:39Speaker 1: Are you wearing gold shoes? Is your mom proud of you?
- 18:46Speaker 1: Is your mom proud of you? All of us? Yeah? Yeah,
- 18:48Speaker 1: my mom is very proud of me. But you know what,
- 18:50Speaker 1: I really owe it to her. It's her story, her experience,
- 18:54Speaker 1: her love, her light, her you know spirituality that helped
- 18:58Speaker 1: me do what I do and navigate it through twenty
- 19:01Speaker 1: five years because I have to be honest, you know,
- 19:02Speaker 1: when starting kimbucha twenty five years ago, It was not easy.
- 19:05Speaker 1: I mean, I can't tell you how many times people
- 19:07Speaker 1: would spit it up in my face or say, no, way, no,
- 19:09Speaker 1: how will this ever be sold in my store? It
- 19:11Speaker 1: tastes weird, looks weird, smells weird. But it was really
- 19:14Speaker 1: having the support of my mother constantly telling me that
- 19:17Speaker 1: you're doing a good thing. You know, it's lonely at
- 19:20Speaker 1: the top, but at least it's not crowded. But the
- 19:22Speaker 1: reason why it's lonely at the top is it's a long,
- 19:24Speaker 1: slow path to success. And you know, imagine being a
- 19:28Speaker 1: teenager not having any friends, not doing the participating the
- 19:32Speaker 1: things that your teenage friends do, and feeling completely alone.
- 19:35Speaker 1: You really, it's almost like what I've always said before
- 19:37Speaker 1: is it's a lot like being, um, you know, a
- 19:40Speaker 1: teenage mom, where you're just kind of pushed into this
- 19:43Speaker 1: adulthood and you really have to commit to this living
- 19:45Speaker 1: thing in many ways you have to sacrifice. And so yeah,
- 19:48Speaker 1: so it's been great and I don't take it for granted,
- 19:50Speaker 1: and every day is a blessing in my mind. And
- 19:53Speaker 1: the success they've been able to experience is something I've
- 19:55Speaker 1: never ever ever dreamed of and can and I ride on, wait,
- 20:01Speaker 1: hold on, let's let's just talk about this. Twenty five
- 20:03Speaker 1: years ago. You started the company, right, yes, and now
- 20:06Speaker 1: we're coming up on World Kombucha Day. Is this really happening? Yes? Yeah?
- 20:12Speaker 1: What is World Kochay? We wanted to ask you what
- 20:14Speaker 1: that is because we want to participate. Yeah, absolutely, and
- 20:18Speaker 1: thank you for asking. So World kimboo to Day is
- 20:20Speaker 1: something that we debuted a year ago. Because kombucha was
- 20:23Speaker 1: first consumed in two twenty one BC, which is a long, long,
- 20:27Speaker 1: long time ago, wait before even I started drinking it.
- 20:30Speaker 1: So we decided to have a World Kombucha Day on
- 20:32Speaker 1: February twenty first, so two twenty one, just like two
- 20:35Speaker 1: twenty one BC. And that kind of the philosophy behind
- 20:38Speaker 1: World Kombucha Day is to really share with the world
- 20:41Speaker 1: people who are relatively new to kombucha. It's history, because
- 20:44Speaker 1: I think a lot of times, especially in this country,
- 20:46Speaker 1: we sometimes overlook history and legacy and lineage when we
- 20:50Speaker 1: just focus on the populary something right here, right now,
- 20:53Speaker 1: and we kind of forget about its soul, forget about
- 20:55Speaker 1: it's you know, it's humble beginnings in its origin. So
- 20:58Speaker 1: World Kombucha Day is really intended to shine a bright
- 21:00Speaker 1: light on that talk about its history, it's tradition of
- 21:03Speaker 1: being consumed, the ritual of making it, and the most
- 21:06Speaker 1: importantly what makes kimbucha special, which it's as a nature
- 21:09Speaker 1: crafted elixer, if you will. That's rich with so many
- 21:12Speaker 1: good things that can make us healthy and happy, no
- 21:15Speaker 1: matter who you are, where you live. Um, so it's
- 21:18Speaker 1: two twenty one because of two twenty one BC. Two
- 21:21Speaker 1: twenty one is World cambuch to Day. Yeah, we'll be
- 21:24Speaker 1: celebrating it. Yeah, we will. All of our real friends.
- 21:29Speaker 1: Yea fake doctor's real friends. We got a date y'all day.
- 21:33Speaker 1: Thank you so much for coming on. We really appreciate you.
- 21:36Speaker 1: And you know it's it's no bullshit because Donald and
- 21:39Speaker 1: I always say when we have to have advertisers on
- 21:43Speaker 1: the show, we would so rather it be something we
- 21:45Speaker 1: genuinely love. We try and edit out things that we
- 21:49Speaker 1: don't really believe in or use, and well you'd be
- 21:52Speaker 1: surprised what comes at us. And it's like, yeah, come on, man,
- 21:56Speaker 1: I'm gonna say. One thing we've also said no to
- 21:58Speaker 1: is things that we feel are unhealthy for people. Um,
- 22:00Speaker 1: we liked, we like to promote healthy things and so um,
- 22:04Speaker 1: so we're super stoked that that you support the show,
- 22:06Speaker 1: and uh and we really appreciate you. And I'd also
- 22:09Speaker 1: feel like i'd also kind of feel like a jerk
- 22:11Speaker 1: if you know, you know, we have something. It's such
- 22:16Speaker 1: a it's such a healthy product and so good for everyone.
- 22:19Speaker 1: I'd feel bad. Then right after that, I was like,
- 22:22Speaker 1: go eating McDonald's. But I mean, I've been watching that.
- 22:28Speaker 1: I was. I was watching them that Um Jordan documentary
- 22:31Speaker 1: about the Bulls of the Last Dance, which I'm finally watching,
- 22:35Speaker 1: and it's so good, but it's so shameless how these
- 22:37Speaker 1: athletes who are in like the best shape anyone's in,
- 22:40Speaker 1: or like be like sometimes I feel like he is
- 22:43Speaker 1: me and they're drinking Gator Maine and eating cheeseburgers. It's
- 22:46Speaker 1: like it's like, I know, get that money, Mike, But
- 22:49Speaker 1: come on, well, you gotta remember back in the eighties, man,
- 22:52Speaker 1: I remember watching tennis players drink Coca Cola on the
- 22:56Speaker 1: on the sidelines and smoked cigarettes during breaks. Man, But
- 22:59Speaker 1: were you see those ads, because they show the ads
- 23:01Speaker 1: of like Michael Jordan happily eating like a gross McDonald's cheeseburger. Yeah, money, Yeah,
- 23:09Speaker 1: I'm grateful to you guys as well, because I mean,
- 23:11Speaker 1: we rarely do advertise and the reason why we genuinely
- 23:15Speaker 1: seek that authentic kind of connectivity that you guys have
- 23:18Speaker 1: shared for us. So from the bottom of my heart,
- 23:19Speaker 1: I'm also very grateful. Well, thank you man, thank you,
- 23:22Speaker 1: and you're an inspiration. Last question, just because I'm sure
- 23:26Speaker 1: there's a lot of entrepreneurs or young entrepreneurs who dream
- 23:30Speaker 1: of having a success like you've had. What do you
- 23:33Speaker 1: say to people who are just starting out and they're
- 23:35Speaker 1: looking up at the giant mountain of trying to create
- 23:38Speaker 1: a business or a product like do you have any
- 23:41Speaker 1: words of wisdom for them? Oh? Absolutely, And I share
- 23:45Speaker 1: this with anyone who ever reaches out to me for
- 23:47Speaker 1: business advice. I always say, first and foremost, follow your
- 23:51Speaker 1: heart and do what you love the most importantly, do
- 23:54Speaker 1: what makes the world a better place, because I think
- 23:57Speaker 1: sincerely gone are the days where we just create businesses
- 24:00Speaker 1: and products for selfish reasons. I think, you know, even
- 24:03Speaker 1: twenty twenty has told us we all need to work
- 24:05Speaker 1: together to not only heal the planet, but also heal
- 24:08Speaker 1: each other's lives. And so I believe that if you
- 24:12Speaker 1: follow those tips if you will that only good things
- 24:15Speaker 1: will come your way and people will generally genuinely resonate
- 24:18Speaker 1: with what you're trying to offer. That's what we do.
- 24:20Speaker 1: We're just offering laughs and giggles exactly, making people happy.
- 24:23Speaker 1: And that's all we really want, right, Happiness and love, yes,
- 24:27Speaker 1: that's absolutely And health all we want, and health and health,
- 24:29Speaker 1: hell and hell, happiness and love, the pursuit of happiness.
- 24:33Speaker 1: It's in our constitution, dude, it is. That's crazy that
- 24:36Speaker 1: they said the pursuit I know it's in that movie
- 24:38Speaker 1: and everything the movie. Is that the constitution or the
- 24:41Speaker 1: declaration of independence? Daniel, Life, liberty, and the pursuit of happening.
- 24:46Speaker 1: I'm calling on you, Daniel. I'm so embarrassed. I think
- 24:51Speaker 1: it might be the declaration of independence. I think you're right.
- 24:54Speaker 1: I think it's okay. We'll check it. We'll check it, Joel, please, Oh,
- 24:57Speaker 1: I am right? All right? Yeah, let me ask my wife.
- 24:59Speaker 1: She'll know. Don't like what happened? Is that that's just independence?
- 25:03Speaker 1: Or is that any That's a hard question to answer.
- 25:13Speaker 1: I just wanted seventeen seventy six. She said whatever, she said,
- 25:16Speaker 1: whatever is? What's seventies? All? Right, Dave, thank you so
- 25:21Speaker 1: much for coming on. We appreciate man. I want to
- 25:23Speaker 1: say bye too, All right, say bye. Stop talking to
- 25:25Speaker 1: your wife talking to Dave. Thank you man, it's good
- 25:27Speaker 1: to see you. Man, it's good to see you. A
- 25:29Speaker 1: good mass. Let me ask you a question. You're working
- 25:31Speaker 1: out like crazy right now? What's going on? Because I
- 25:34Speaker 1: am a we're having conversations on the show. Zach's a
- 25:37Speaker 1: younger man than I am. I have reached that age
- 25:39Speaker 1: where I can't cheat anymore. If I cheat, guess what happens.
- 25:43Speaker 1: It doesn't go away, It never you know what I mean?
- 25:45Speaker 1: Like if I have a cheat meal, I'm in deep trouble.
- 25:48Speaker 1: So my question is, my question is are you what what?
- 25:52Speaker 1: Other than the kombucha? What are you doing? This looks
- 25:54Speaker 1: so good man, You're looking You're looking fit. You look
- 25:57Speaker 1: robb He doesn't get high and eat fried chicken and already,
- 26:00Speaker 1: well no, actually I do get high you fried waffles.
- 26:05Speaker 1: I mean, I'll break it down if you're really simply.
- 26:07Speaker 1: First of all, you know, I think being plant based
- 26:09Speaker 1: as much as possible is huge, right, But it's not
- 26:12Speaker 1: just being plant based, it's making sure that you're eating
- 26:14Speaker 1: a diet that's whole, in a rich and whole food.
- 26:17Speaker 1: So things that aren't in a box, a can, or
- 26:19Speaker 1: a bag, because chances are those are heavily processed and
- 26:22Speaker 1: literally with stuff that's not good. You know, I don't
- 26:25Speaker 1: believe in cheap days, but as I said earlier, I
- 26:27Speaker 1: do believe in allowing your body to have a little
- 26:29Speaker 1: taste of dessert or a little something just so you
- 26:32Speaker 1: aren't depriving your body of it. But then after a
- 26:35Speaker 1: bite or two, you kind of push the plate away.
- 26:37Speaker 1: And then most importantly, make sure that you break a
- 26:40Speaker 1: sweat every day, right that you just do something, whether
- 26:43Speaker 1: you swim in your pool if you can, or walk
- 26:45Speaker 1: your neighborhood, or go to the gym, or even do
- 26:48Speaker 1: push ups or yoga in your house, because a lot
- 26:51Speaker 1: like brushing your teeth. I think physical fitness is a
- 26:54Speaker 1: daily practice, and when you make it a daily habit,
- 26:57Speaker 1: you never have to make an excuse of why you
- 27:00Speaker 1: to do it or why you couldn't do it. And
- 27:02Speaker 1: so that's what I do. I I work out every day.
- 27:04Speaker 1: And in addition to that, which goes hand in hand
- 27:06Speaker 1: with physical fitness is making sure you get a good
- 27:09Speaker 1: night's rest every night. So I really allow myself eight
- 27:11Speaker 1: hours of sleep no matter what, and that with physical
- 27:13Speaker 1: fitness keeps me in shape. Wow, you look great, man,
- 27:17Speaker 1: and I want to look more like you. I really do.
- 27:19Speaker 1: And I thank you for being on the show man.
- 27:21Speaker 1: You really really really appreciate you. Thank you for having me.
- 27:24Speaker 1: I'm honored. Thank you for love. All right, take care,
- 27:30Speaker 1: we welcome, good bye you too. It's always great to
- 27:34Speaker 1: have on man, right, it's always great. We haven't had
- 27:38Speaker 1: him on before. What are you talking about? We've had it, well,
- 27:42Speaker 1: had on zoom. You know what I mean, we have
- 27:45Speaker 1: when we talk to him on zoom and stuff. Oh
- 27:48Speaker 1: my god, fucking hell, you're so stone right now, I
- 27:50Speaker 1: am right now. You just said it's always great to
- 27:53Speaker 1: have him on. We haven't had him on before. That's
- 27:55Speaker 1: how high dollars. Let me let me try and let
- 28:00Speaker 1: me try and save. Let me here, let me hear,
- 28:03Speaker 1: let me hear it's from the zooms man, because we do. Yes,
- 28:06Speaker 1: we've we you and I have privately zoomed him. Yes,
- 28:09Speaker 1: that has and that I kind of confused said, it's
- 28:12Speaker 1: always great to have him on zoom to talk to him. No,
- 28:20Speaker 1: all bullshit aside. He is the inspiration man, because not
- 28:23Speaker 1: only is he a super healthy guy, he like created
- 28:25Speaker 1: this company when he was a baby, and uh, he's
- 28:28Speaker 1: the biggest, biggest brand in the world. What's crazy is
- 28:31Speaker 1: that is that I would never have guessed that he
- 28:34Speaker 1: was forty three years old. That's he doesn't look it.
- 28:38Speaker 1: He looks a lot younger than that. All right, So
- 28:40Speaker 1: we should we go to break and come back with
- 28:42Speaker 1: the Sarah Chunk. Sure, we'll be right back with Sarah
- 28:47Speaker 1: Chunk and we're bad. Yes, game Stoff? You want to
- 28:57Speaker 1: talk about game? Stop? Donald? Should we talk about what's
- 29:00Speaker 1: going on? I don't quite understand. I understand that I
- 29:03Speaker 1: don't understand how the stock is being driven up? Is it?
- 29:06Speaker 1: I've read enough and Daniel will probably have a better answer,
- 29:09Speaker 1: But I've read enough to let me try. Okay, Joe, Well,
- 29:12Speaker 1: Joel also probably knows a lot. Okay. My guess is
- 29:16Speaker 1: my I often guess which one of you will know
- 29:18Speaker 1: more about a given topic, and I'm usually kind of right.
- 29:22Speaker 1: You always go, Daniel, say, Joel is so knowledgeable. Joe Joel,
- 29:27Speaker 1: I go for pop culture things because she's a critic
- 29:29Speaker 1: and knows a lot about pop culture. Um, Daniel, I
- 29:33Speaker 1: go for politics. I think he knows a lot about politics.
- 29:36Speaker 1: And we'll after when his dad did that one time. Yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 29:44Speaker 1: go ahead, So let me give my my I'm gonna
- 29:45Speaker 1: give my my my quickest take on it, Okay, and
- 29:48Speaker 1: Daniel will correct me. Um, you can bet that a
- 29:52Speaker 1: stock will fail because you think that the company is
- 29:56Speaker 1: going to crash. So when all these game companies came
- 29:59Speaker 1: out with the downloading the games and not buying them anymore,
- 30:02Speaker 1: it didn't take a genius to be like game Stop
- 30:05Speaker 1: is doomed. Everyone was even joking about that, like rip
- 30:08Speaker 1: game Stop when all those new consoles came out, and
- 30:12Speaker 1: so the hedge fund and the stock market folks said, oh,
- 30:15Speaker 1: we're gonna short this, meaning we're going to we're gonna
- 30:18Speaker 1: bet that it's going to fail. Okay, it's very intricate
- 30:22Speaker 1: how it all works, but they're basically when you're playing
- 30:25Speaker 1: craps exactly exactly. And what they didn't expect is that
- 30:32Speaker 1: the people this group on Reddit called Wall Street Bets
- 30:35Speaker 1: would say, we can do what's called a short squeeze
- 30:39Speaker 1: if we all band together, which means if we start
- 30:43Speaker 1: buying that, if enough of us start buying game Stop
- 30:46Speaker 1: stock it will drive the price up, which is the
- 30:49Speaker 1: exact opposite of what all these people betting against it
- 30:52Speaker 1: thought it was going to do. And what happens is
- 30:55Speaker 1: they have to then to get out, they have to
- 30:59Speaker 1: buy it back, and as they buy it back, it
- 31:02Speaker 1: drives the price up again. So it creates this loop
- 31:06Speaker 1: of the redditors, the people without a lot of money
- 31:10Speaker 1: who were just sort of independent, independent stock purchasers. They
- 31:14Speaker 1: their stock goes crazy and they start making insane money
- 31:17Speaker 1: and they're burying these huge hedge fund companies. How long
- 31:22Speaker 1: does this last? For? How long? That? I don't know? Daniel,
- 31:24Speaker 1: you go um? I think so, Zach, that was one
- 31:27Speaker 1: hundred percent correct. Thank you very well. Put Um. I
- 31:30Speaker 1: didn't understand it at all until I read about it.
- 31:33Speaker 1: I also want to preface that I am not a
- 31:34Speaker 1: financial expert, and this is not financial advice. Yes, okay.
- 31:38Speaker 1: I think an important part to add to this conversation
- 31:42Speaker 1: is that and one of my favorite tweets about this
- 31:44Speaker 1: is that this is kind of like Occupy Wall Street,
- 31:47Speaker 1: but twice as stupid, but twice as effective. Yeah, so,
- 31:51Speaker 1: because they're giving the finger to these hedge funds precisely,
- 31:54Speaker 1: I mean Occupy Wall Street was an opportunity for people
- 31:57Speaker 1: to express their concern with the amount of money at
- 32:00Speaker 1: you know, Wall Street was controlling and how much that
- 32:02Speaker 1: was controlling politics, And this was a way for people
- 32:05Speaker 1: to make that like a headline news story by literally
- 32:09Speaker 1: destroying these hedge funds one at a time. Now, the
- 32:12Speaker 1: problem and the answer to question of how long is
- 32:15Speaker 1: this going to last, is that companies like robin Hood
- 32:18Speaker 1: or the the app robin Hood, who is allowing this
- 32:20Speaker 1: kind of trade, or is allowing retail investors to trade
- 32:24Speaker 1: in such small ways, has all of a sudden stopped
- 32:26Speaker 1: allowing trading on things like GameStop, AMC, Nokia BlackBerry. I
- 32:31Speaker 1: think pause there the right, Yeah, yes, they are back on. Sorry,
- 32:37Speaker 1: that's why about I'm getting to all that, So they stopped,
- 32:41Speaker 1: and that is what is basically this whole thing. Awa. Yeah,
- 32:45Speaker 1: this was to draw awareness to the power of Wall
- 32:50Speaker 1: Street over politics, over trading, over all of that, because
- 32:54Speaker 1: this is a situation where we're saying the little guy
- 32:56Speaker 1: has the opportunity to trade, and rich people are saying, oh, wait,
- 33:00Speaker 1: don't do that. And I totally I told yeah, dude,
- 33:03Speaker 1: that's where that's where That's where it gets messed up.
- 33:05Speaker 1: It's like, wait, hold on, we're just doing what you did.
- 33:08Speaker 1: I'm lumping myself in with all people, these games out
- 33:12Speaker 1: people I have no I have no investment in game staff,
- 33:14Speaker 1: just to be clear. But let's put it this way.
- 33:19Speaker 1: I wish I'd be selling right now. I'd be selling soon.
- 33:24Speaker 1: But wait, that's the problem. The thing that's crazy is
- 33:31Speaker 1: that it's like out of nowhere, all of these people
- 33:35Speaker 1: who were working the crap out of this system are
- 33:40Speaker 1: trying to stop the common person from doing it themselves.
- 33:45Speaker 1: And that's that's and that's wrong. That's that's where the
- 33:48Speaker 1: BS comes in. It's like, wait a second, how can
- 33:50Speaker 1: you shut down the site for one night? And or sorry,
- 33:54Speaker 1: how can you restrict for one night? Do you know
- 33:56Speaker 1: not how much money they blew in one night for
- 34:00Speaker 1: all of these common people who don't have the opportunity
- 34:04Speaker 1: to invest like this. That was like, what is it? Like?
- 34:06Speaker 1: Millions and billions? They were allowed They were allowed to sell.
- 34:10Speaker 1: I believe they just weren't allowed to buy more. Correct,
- 34:12Speaker 1: But but that is illegal. It's a nineteen thirty six
- 34:14Speaker 1: Act about you know, you're not allowed to stop trading
- 34:17Speaker 1: on the open market at any point you are not allowed.
- 34:20Speaker 1: That is against the law. And that's what Robin Hood
- 34:23Speaker 1: did effectively, was stopped trading on the open market, and
- 34:26Speaker 1: solely because apparently bigger companies called them and said, you
- 34:31Speaker 1: got to stop this, We're gonna go broke, or potentially
- 34:34Speaker 1: the government right which is which which would be really
- 34:36Speaker 1: fucked up? Well, now that isn't there an investigations. Yeah,
- 34:41Speaker 1: the government is stepping in now. And ultimately what this
- 34:43Speaker 1: will probably lead to a stricter regulations against retail traders,
- 34:47Speaker 1: making it harder for the common man to invest or
- 34:50Speaker 1: a common person rather to invest into the open trading market.
- 34:53Speaker 1: Which was the goal of this in the first place,
- 34:55Speaker 1: was to draw attention once again to the power that
- 34:59Speaker 1: the super wealth you have over what is supposed to
- 35:02Speaker 1: be a global stock market. We're talking about billions of
- 35:04Speaker 1: dollars in wealth just appearing and disappearing because people were
- 35:07Speaker 1: deciding to be like, hey, guys, see what's going on here,
- 35:10Speaker 1: the short squeeze that's happening. Boom game stop, this is
- 35:12Speaker 1: where it's happening right now. And then the government says,
- 35:15Speaker 1: whoa whoa whoa you you you know you. I don't
- 35:20Speaker 1: want to sit pores you, you know, regular folk. But
- 35:22Speaker 1: are they sing pores? But that's people like people. Feels
- 35:28Speaker 1: like yeah, it feels like dat feel like let the
- 35:33Speaker 1: meat situation, you know what? What's the exit though? Where
- 35:38Speaker 1: where my brain or at least what I understand about
- 35:40Speaker 1: this ends is how do they? How do they? How
- 35:43Speaker 1: does everyone dismount? So basically the dismount, I mean the
- 35:47Speaker 1: dismount is that a bunch of people sell their shares
- 35:49Speaker 1: in game Stop. I mean like, this is not This
- 35:50Speaker 1: is not a long haul where all of a sudden,
- 35:52Speaker 1: game Stop is this huge, super profitable company, well knowing,
- 35:55Speaker 1: and the elephant in the room is the game Stop
- 35:58Speaker 1: is not worth three hundreds of dollars a share, No,
- 36:01Speaker 1: not at all. Not. So what happens now this stop?
- 36:04Speaker 1: What we hope for is more transparency. No, I'm saying,
- 36:08Speaker 1: how did these people get out? They just sell them
- 36:10Speaker 1: and somebody's gonna be stuck with that bill, somebody's gonna
- 36:12Speaker 1: be stuck with a stock, Someone's stock get stuck with
- 36:14Speaker 1: the bag. And that's the problem. That's the that's the problem.
- 36:17Speaker 1: Basically Wall Street bets is at the start was meant
- 36:20Speaker 1: to be like stupid ass stock calls Wall Street bets
- 36:23Speaker 1: is not a place to give legitimate financial advice. And
- 36:27Speaker 1: despite the fact that during this time it has evolved
- 36:30Speaker 1: kind of into that where it's more about, like, here's
- 36:33Speaker 1: how you can help take thet. Bets is for people
- 36:36Speaker 1: who may not know Zach was saying that at the beginning.
- 36:38Speaker 1: But Wall Street Bets is a subreddit. Yeah, subreddit, and
- 36:42Speaker 1: reddit is a website that's like a content aggregator. There's
- 36:45Speaker 1: a lot of smaller what are called subreddits that are
- 36:47Speaker 1: based on different categories, and one of them is called
- 36:49Speaker 1: Wall Street bets, which is basically for meme stocks. It's
- 36:52Speaker 1: stock memes jokes about where people are investing in dumb shit.
- 36:56Speaker 1: But over the past couple of weeks it is evolved
- 36:57Speaker 1: into people like taking it more and more seriously and
- 37:00Speaker 1: the issue that it's creating, and I think what should
- 37:03Speaker 1: is going or not should, but what is going to
- 37:05Speaker 1: become The central narrative of this is that regular people
- 37:07Speaker 1: are going to lose a shits on of money because
- 37:08Speaker 1: they participated in this meme stock thing thinking they could
- 37:11Speaker 1: make it rich when they're not going to. So you
- 37:13Speaker 1: can make it rich if you can make it rich
- 37:15Speaker 1: if you get out like before, Yeah, if you get
- 37:17Speaker 1: out immediately, if you're paying attention this whole time. But
- 37:19Speaker 1: people are seeing this now, like even yesterday and being like,
- 37:22Speaker 1: oh shit, I'm gonna put like ten grand in. It's like,
- 37:24Speaker 1: oh well, now it's too late. But I mean if
- 37:27Speaker 1: they if they cash out now though, they can make
- 37:29Speaker 1: a lot of money. Right. I even feel bad saying
- 37:32Speaker 1: that on the podcast right now, because like the fact
- 37:34Speaker 1: is no, Like the fact is no. It's like people
- 37:36Speaker 1: should not be participating in this at this point. No,
- 37:39Speaker 1: I don't even investing now, but I mean there are
- 37:41Speaker 1: people investing in general. No, I'm saying there are people
- 37:45Speaker 1: that are in already who made a million dollars or more.
- 37:49Speaker 1: There's a there's a user on Reddit a deep fucking
- 37:51Speaker 1: value who was looking at a twenty two million dollar
- 37:54Speaker 1: come up off of this. So how do you how
- 37:55Speaker 1: do you how do you get that? How do you
- 37:57Speaker 1: get that money? Though? How do you get that money?
- 37:59Speaker 1: If nobody's going to buy this stock now at this point?
- 38:02Speaker 1: Well you've got credit, Well, like what the fuck? Like
- 38:07Speaker 1: the how you got to claimed this twenty two million?
- 38:09Speaker 1: The hedge funds that own that stock have to pay
- 38:11Speaker 1: them out, and that's and that's because they bet. Instead
- 38:16Speaker 1: of those hedge funds dissolving after paying this and going
- 38:19Speaker 1: bankrupt and stuff like that, the government is probably going
- 38:21Speaker 1: to bail them fail them out to keep the hedge
- 38:23Speaker 1: funds going. And that is what we need to all
- 38:25Speaker 1: be paying attention to, because that is where we're going
- 38:28Speaker 1: to see. This is like one of those mass we
- 38:30Speaker 1: bailed them out last time. It's it's it's like that.
- 38:32Speaker 1: The it's two thousand and eight all over again. I
- 38:34Speaker 1: know there's a movie about this. You think everybody would
- 38:37Speaker 1: be worth paying attention to this, but yet money has
- 38:40Speaker 1: so much control over politics, like all of the stuff
- 38:42Speaker 1: still continues to this side the way. If you're so
- 38:44Speaker 1: confused and board about this conversation, I apology. No, it's fine,
- 38:47Speaker 1: but I want to talk about it, and so did
- 38:49Speaker 1: Donald and Joel. But anyway, listen, there's a movie that
- 38:52Speaker 1: Adam mckamain called The Big Short R. And The Big
- 38:55Speaker 1: Short sort of explains in it in a much better,
- 38:57Speaker 1: funnier way. You never counted us in? Do you want
- 39:01Speaker 1: to count us in? Right before Sarah joins us seven
- 39:05Speaker 1: stories about show we made about a bunch of dots,
- 39:10Speaker 1: nurses said he is that stories never so yead around here?
- 39:20Speaker 1: Are yeat around here? M h, sorry I got very
- 39:29Speaker 1: heated about that. Great, it's such a great topic, like
- 39:34Speaker 1: America's changing, America's changing before our eyes. Man, Like literally,
- 39:39Speaker 1: we are witnessing, we are witnessing a revolution. Literally, can
- 39:43Speaker 1: you imagine? Like the guy who who? Who's who? Made
- 39:46Speaker 1: twenty two million dollars off Game Stop? Do you want it?
- 39:49Speaker 1: You should see if you should see a picture of him.
- 39:50Speaker 1: It's really funny. He better not do what Rerun did.
- 39:55Speaker 1: Remember when re Run got those credit cards and he
- 39:57Speaker 1: bought the Scooba tank on What's happening? It's not like that.
- 40:03Speaker 1: Twenty two million after taxes. My man, that's freaking he
- 40:07Speaker 1: is banked, dude. Yeah he not a couple of scuba tanks. Yeah,
- 40:11Speaker 1: he more than a couple of scuba tanks. Another funny
- 40:13Speaker 1: part of this is that like after he made like
- 40:16Speaker 1: he doesn't a daily update it's called the GM Yolo
- 40:19Speaker 1: update every day about how much money he made. Yesterday
- 40:22Speaker 1: he lost thirteen million dollars and it was one day
- 40:25Speaker 1: because he didn't get out. Well, it's not that he
- 40:27Speaker 1: I mean, he's holding because we're still trying to fuck
- 40:29Speaker 1: over this hedge fund. So the people who have money
- 40:31Speaker 1: right now, Yeah, everybody's what they're doing, are they aren't
- 40:37Speaker 1: there online? Like, please don't sell whatever you do, don't sell?
- 40:42Speaker 1: But wait, wait, can you explain last point in this audience.
- 40:45Speaker 1: I'm sorry if this isn't interest to you, but it's
- 40:47Speaker 1: so interesting to me. Why why now? Why not sell now?
- 40:52Speaker 1: Because um, it's gonna come crashing down. Don't you want
- 40:56Speaker 1: to sell and get your money out while you can.
- 41:00Speaker 1: It's just I mean, the goal again, this is about
- 41:02Speaker 1: sending There's a large part of this about sending a message,
- 41:05Speaker 1: and a lot of people are putting a lot of
- 41:06Speaker 1: money behind sending a message. And I think that's where
- 41:08Speaker 1: the disparity comes in between people who are kind of
- 41:11Speaker 1: getting in late seeing this is a money making opportunity
- 41:13Speaker 1: and people who are participating in fuck all of these
- 41:17Speaker 1: hedge funds just short squeezing companies to make even more
- 41:20Speaker 1: money for you know nothing. They're like, fuck you, we
- 41:23Speaker 1: are going to get in this, We're going to invest
- 41:25Speaker 1: a bunch of money, and we're not going to let
- 41:26Speaker 1: go until you pay for it. It is kind of
- 41:28Speaker 1: fucked up, though. Can you imagine, like you create a company,
- 41:32Speaker 1: and you know, it becomes huge and then let's and
- 41:35Speaker 1: then you're let's say it's not doing well. All of
- 41:37Speaker 1: a sudden, there's people who's they're like, they're like, um,
- 41:41Speaker 1: what are those birds that fly above calultures? They're like
- 41:44Speaker 1: vultures who are like, great, let's all bet that this
- 41:47Speaker 1: company's going to fail. Now when it dies, I'm eaten.
- 41:50Speaker 1: And then tell everyone. Let's tell everyone it's going to fail,
- 41:53Speaker 1: because then we're gonna make money off of it because
- 41:55Speaker 1: we need to broadcast, we need to we need to
- 41:57Speaker 1: gossip that it's about to fail because then we'll make money.
- 42:00Speaker 1: I know Elon Musk was really upset because these hedge
- 42:03Speaker 1: funds like shorted hist Tesla. Yeah, and so he's gleeful
- 42:08Speaker 1: about this. Yeah. And I mean it's just, you know,
- 42:12Speaker 1: the stock market, it's controlled by such a small group
- 42:15Speaker 1: of people sharing billions and billions of dollars, and it's
- 42:18Speaker 1: like the regular person wants to get in and enjoy
- 42:21Speaker 1: and people are saying, no, not for you. Yeah, that's
- 42:24Speaker 1: the thing, man, When when when when when you get
- 42:26Speaker 1: into the stock market, it ain't like the movies where
- 42:30Speaker 1: it's you know where you're where, You're all it's all
- 42:32Speaker 1: fly and fancy and stuff like that. You can do that,
- 42:35Speaker 1: but most likely you're gonna lose all your money doing that.
- 42:38Speaker 1: The best way to do it is to get like
- 42:40Speaker 1: little things that are that are solid and can't go down. Right. Yeah,
- 42:45Speaker 1: I mean that's but it's still gambling. But the joy
- 42:50Speaker 1: is I know, but the joy is freaking living that
- 42:53Speaker 1: fast life and making that fast cash. I don't think
- 42:56Speaker 1: a lot of I don't think a lot of day
- 42:58Speaker 1: traders um a ton of luck, right, I mean, like
- 43:01Speaker 1: some don't, get me wrong, some do, but I think
- 43:03Speaker 1: in the movie they do. I think Dan larn I
- 43:07Speaker 1: write that a lot of day traders like really get fucked.
- 43:11Speaker 1: I mean, I don't know about I can't give you
- 43:13Speaker 1: a stat on a lot versus a little, but what
- 43:14Speaker 1: I can say is that, like, day trading is not
- 43:17Speaker 1: like a it's a full time job. It's like, if
- 43:20Speaker 1: you decide to be a day trader, you're talking about
- 43:22Speaker 1: an incredibly diverse portfolio where some of your money is
- 43:26Speaker 1: going up and some of your money is going down.
- 43:27Speaker 1: And like if you're getting part of one stock, you're failing.
- 43:31Speaker 1: You want to have like one hundred things you're invested
- 43:33Speaker 1: in because then you're just watching all the numbers go
- 43:35Speaker 1: up and it's like, oh, I made one hundred dollars here,
- 43:36Speaker 1: I meane thousand dollars here, I'm in ten grand here,
- 43:38Speaker 1: I lost fifty grand here. But it's okay because blah
- 43:40Speaker 1: blah blah blah blah. It's like day trading is. It's
- 43:42Speaker 1: not a joke, and it's not like a small thing either.
- 43:44Speaker 1: So it's like, yeah, it's yeah, it's you can make money,
- 43:48Speaker 1: for sure, but it's like, you know, do you want
- 43:50Speaker 1: to invest as much time into getting to learn the
- 43:52Speaker 1: stock market as you did to get into acting. No,
- 43:55Speaker 1: I'm not. I'm not saying I'm not saying I want
- 43:57Speaker 1: to become a day trader. I'm saying the people that
- 43:59Speaker 1: do this, and I know they sit in front my
- 44:00Speaker 1: screen and it's their full time job. I saw like
- 44:03Speaker 1: a doc about it. I feel like that's vaguely in
- 44:05Speaker 1: my brain but correct. But I think a lot of people.
- 44:08Speaker 1: Again I have no stats, but I feel like people
- 44:11Speaker 1: get in over their heads totally. They've got and they
- 44:13Speaker 1: and just like gambling totally, just like Donald going back
- 44:16Speaker 1: to the ATM in Vegas, they keep going, keep going,
- 44:20Speaker 1: and then all of a sudden, they fucking lose everything. Yes,
- 44:22Speaker 1: the only point I was making about acting was just
- 44:24Speaker 1: about an investment of time. Because when people look at
- 44:26Speaker 1: you two, they say they're incredibly successful. I could not
- 44:29Speaker 1: imagine the skills it took to be as good at
- 44:32Speaker 1: acting as these two are. It's like, think about putting
- 44:35Speaker 1: that exact same amount of time and investment into being
- 44:38Speaker 1: a day trader. I'm not saying that's what you're doing.
- 44:40Speaker 1: I'm saying that, like as people look at easy money
- 44:43Speaker 1: making opportunities in here, it's not easy. It takes work,
- 44:46Speaker 1: it takes time, just like everything else that we do.
- 44:49Speaker 1: It's like craps. Really, it really is like Craps. It
- 44:51Speaker 1: really is like you gotta be able to watch so
- 44:56Speaker 1: many things when you're playing craps. You gotta you make
- 44:58Speaker 1: so many bets, and you put so many things out there,
- 45:00Speaker 1: and it's really easy to lose track of what's what
- 45:03Speaker 1: and how much what pays and all of that stuff.
- 45:07Speaker 1: You're really good at craps. I've been I've been robbed
- 45:10Speaker 1: at craps, I know, but I've had fun with you.
- 45:12Speaker 1: I've been robbed you literally doing you at least understand
- 45:16Speaker 1: every time I said that dealer himself. Every time I
- 45:20Speaker 1: step up to the craps table, I'm I'm usually with
- 45:23Speaker 1: I only do it when I'm with someone who knows
- 45:24Speaker 1: how to play, like Donald, And I'm always like, how
- 45:26Speaker 1: the hell are all these people keeping track? Even like
- 45:29Speaker 1: the dealers or whatever you call them. I don't know
- 45:31Speaker 1: if you call them dealers at a craps table, but
- 45:34Speaker 1: how are they possibly or isn't it like crewpa or something?
- 45:37Speaker 1: I think it's crew pier. I don't know. I know
- 45:40Speaker 1: that game is fun, dude, you know when your brain
- 45:43Speaker 1: vomits up a term that you didn't even know. I
- 45:45Speaker 1: was like, whatever they call those crap crewpier. Anyway, I'm
- 45:49Speaker 1: always like, how do they keep track of all that's
- 45:52Speaker 1: going on? It's so impressive. But anyway, Donald, i've been
- 45:54Speaker 1: with you and we've had some fun. I'd never know
- 45:56Speaker 1: what to do. I'm like, what do I do? And
- 45:57Speaker 1: You're like, do this? Do this. It's a fun game
- 46:01Speaker 1: even when you just know it a little bit. It's
- 46:03Speaker 1: so confusing. But it's like, wait, I get paid, I'll
- 46:06Speaker 1: take it. What do you mean You're taking my money?
- 46:09Speaker 1: Aren't you? Aren't you impressed that the that those guys,
- 46:13Speaker 1: the croupiers, they can keep track of all that's going
- 46:15Speaker 1: on the table. I just like the way they call numbers,
- 46:18Speaker 1: you know what I mean. They get very creative with
- 46:20Speaker 1: calling numbers, like that. First time I ever heard somebody
- 46:23Speaker 1: do the Sports Center theme to nine nine. Really? Yeah, alright?
- 46:33Speaker 1: Is Canada's favorite actress here? Yeah she is? All right?
- 46:36Speaker 1: Let her in. Let that girl in. You love to
- 46:39Speaker 1: love it, the cutest blonde on earth. Or cameras off
- 46:43Speaker 1: and she's let's see if she's figured it out. Let's
- 46:50Speaker 1: see if she can figure it out. I figured it out.
- 46:55Speaker 1: We can't hear you, oh as I take the air
- 46:58Speaker 1: pods out, lead them out, lead them in. Hear you? Okay,
- 47:07Speaker 1: I are better? Hi, Hi, guys, gets so fancy. I
- 47:12Speaker 1: just got these air pods, and then Daniel had told
- 47:16Speaker 1: me how to connect them. But I guess I don't
- 47:18Speaker 1: need them. I don't even know you do need them?
- 47:21Speaker 1: You do need them? So funny. I love you so much.
- 47:27Speaker 1: I really thought this many times. She'd be like, you
- 47:29Speaker 1: know what, it's not gonna be funny anymore because she's
- 47:31Speaker 1: gonna be able to figure out how to get on
- 47:32Speaker 1: a zoom call. So I need to make sure it
- 47:37Speaker 1: is that I have the air pods. Sarah, Sarah, I
- 47:52Speaker 1: just can't imagine how you go about your day. I
- 47:54Speaker 1: just can't. So, Sarah, this is Zoom and it's um
- 48:00Speaker 1: it's a video conferenceation. Can you hear me? Okay, So
- 48:08Speaker 1: you're not going to believe me, but I just finished
- 48:09Speaker 1: like this three day press junket for Firefly Lane, and
- 48:12Speaker 1: I was like, I was so proud because there was
- 48:15Speaker 1: not one technical glitch and I just thought I was
- 48:19Speaker 1: gonna in freest you guys. I honestly thinking, oh man,
- 48:26Speaker 1: Sarah's got this, Sarah's got this dialed, so we're never
- 48:29Speaker 1: I can't I hear Zach. I can't hear you, no, gosh,
- 48:32Speaker 1: just Sarah, just to make sure, so you know, in
- 48:34Speaker 1: the bottom in Zoom, in the little next to the microphone,
- 48:38Speaker 1: just make sure, okay, So just make sure that the
- 48:40Speaker 1: speaker is set to your air pods, because we can
- 48:43Speaker 1: hear you through your computers mic, which is good, but
- 48:45Speaker 1: we need to make sure we're only coming through your
- 48:47Speaker 1: air pods. Talk to me down, Hi, can you hear me? Am?
- 48:51Speaker 1: I coming through just your air pods? You're coming. I'm
- 48:55Speaker 1: going also coming through my speaker. Okay, so we need
- 48:57Speaker 1: to stop that. Oh my god, don't edit this out.
- 49:01Speaker 1: It's too amazing. Daniel. Daniel loves me and he's gonna
- 49:04Speaker 1: ed this out. So he's gonna edit it out. Um,
- 49:07Speaker 1: just remind me really quickly. I'm going into the microphone
- 49:10Speaker 1: at the bottom of the big zoom window and the
- 49:11Speaker 1: bottom left is a microphone symbol. Yeah. Oh yes, we
- 49:14Speaker 1: sound a little arrow next to it. And then for speaker,
- 49:16Speaker 1: make sure it's set to air pods. And then for microphone,
- 49:19Speaker 1: make sure it's set to like a microphone or a
- 49:22Speaker 1: computer microphone. Oh thank god. Yay. So now we're just
- 49:26Speaker 1: coming through your AirPods and not coming through the speaker.
- 49:28Speaker 1: Just sweating, just dripping, just you're doing sweat right now.
- 49:32Speaker 1: I'm just nailing it. I'm really fucking nailing this, guys.
- 49:34Speaker 1: Let's be on. Talked about it early, you talked about it.
- 49:37Speaker 1: Let's tell everybody about your new show, Sarah. Yes, Sarah,
- 49:39Speaker 1: tell us about your new show. Congratulation, congratulations Katherine Heigel, right, yes,
- 49:45Speaker 1: thank you so much. It was it was Katherine Heigel
- 49:48Speaker 1: and I'm playing best friends over three decades and it's
- 49:52Speaker 1: based on a book Firefly lane and we play these
- 49:56Speaker 1: two best friends. We get to play ourselves at eighteen
- 49:59Speaker 1: twenty three and forty three? Wow, how did you possibly
- 50:04Speaker 1: do forty three? Sarah? Because I don't It is a mystery, really,
- 50:10Speaker 1: I mean the aga, because I don't understand how you
- 50:14Speaker 1: would ever play forty three. I know if they did,
- 50:17Speaker 1: they got like Elmer's glue and they rubbed it on
- 50:20Speaker 1: their hands and then put put on my face. Yea,
- 50:23Speaker 1: and they're like, it's still only thirty six. We gotta
- 50:26Speaker 1: get some other I don't know what we're gonna do.
- 50:27Speaker 1: It was so humbling to sit in a hair and
- 50:30Speaker 1: makeup trailer and have people consult on how to make
- 50:34Speaker 1: you look younger. So if if you have put tape
- 50:38Speaker 1: right on your neck, like what if we just you know,
- 50:41Speaker 1: I was like, what, oh my god? Do they do
- 50:44Speaker 1: the things where they tape here on your eye? We
- 50:47Speaker 1: tried that, but it just instead of making you look younger,
- 50:50Speaker 1: just made you look like you had like a kind
- 50:52Speaker 1: of like a facelift. Yeah, and we were because we
- 50:54Speaker 1: were in wigs too, so the wigs kind of naturally.
- 50:57Speaker 1: And then I think they just Benjamin buttoned us and
- 50:59Speaker 1: use some cgi um. But that I mean that was
- 51:02Speaker 1: like so ridiculously fun. Obviously, the eighties is like my
- 51:06Speaker 1: favorite decade. I still have like a drawer full of
- 51:09Speaker 1: dress up clothes from my kids of my own things
- 51:11Speaker 1: from the eighties, and so yeah, that piece was ridiculous.
- 51:15Speaker 1: We got to go and play. So what network is on?
- 51:17Speaker 1: How do we find it? Netflix? Netflix? Netflix? Everybody chill
- 51:22Speaker 1: and when you want to Netflix and chill? When does
- 51:25Speaker 1: it come out? February third, tomorrow, guys, tomorrow on Netflix.
- 51:30Speaker 1: You know you're tired of all the ship and you
- 51:32Speaker 1: have on your on your streaming. You look and you're like, no, no, no, no,
- 51:38Speaker 1: Well guess what Sarah Chalk is giving you a present.
- 51:41Speaker 1: It's called fire Fly Lane, right, yes, tomorrow on Netflix,
- 51:47Speaker 1: maybe saying a little bit more confident. Sorry, let me
- 51:49Speaker 1: do that again, you guys. It's called Firefly Lane with
- 51:53Speaker 1: the Sarah Chalk and the Catherine Heigel and it's funny
- 51:56Speaker 1: and I bet it's charming. Is their romance? Do you
- 51:58Speaker 1: have a love interest? Should I be jealous? There's there's
- 52:01Speaker 1: actually I have a few. I was at one day
- 52:02Speaker 1: where I looked on the call sheet and I was like,
- 52:04Speaker 1: there's not one boy on this call sheet that I
- 52:06Speaker 1: haven't made it with wow, and definitely yeah, I got.
- 52:11Speaker 1: I mean, obviously on scrubs I got to wear a
- 52:13Speaker 1: lot of broad underwear. But it's very different doing that
- 52:15Speaker 1: in your twenties versus your forties, and so I mean
- 52:18Speaker 1: there was a lot of days where I was like, oh,
- 52:20Speaker 1: naked in a pool swimming at night in Canada. Excellent
- 52:23Speaker 1: and so wildly didn't so frend. Sorry to interrupts you, Sarah,
- 52:26Speaker 1: but for those of you who might be interested, Sarah
- 52:29Speaker 1: is often scandually clad. So watch that tomorrow. Do we
- 52:33Speaker 1: see crack? Do we see crack? Do you show? There
- 52:36Speaker 1: was a there was a conversation about that. We did not,
- 52:40Speaker 1: but you know, it still was definitely getting like so
- 52:44Speaker 1: far out of my comfort zone because even though the
- 52:47Speaker 1: way you know, obviously you can shoot it in different ways,
- 52:51Speaker 1: but you're still there in front of like a hundred
- 52:52Speaker 1: crew members who you know very well by this point,
- 52:55Speaker 1: in not a lot more than stickers. Oh boy, let
- 52:59Speaker 1: me ask you a question, Yeah, and you can answer
- 53:03Speaker 1: it or don't answer it. Are you simulating sex in
- 53:05Speaker 1: this movie? Yes, they're simulated. No, No, I mean, you
- 53:10Speaker 1: know Katherine Heigl's character Tully goes a little bit further
- 53:15Speaker 1: than mine, and those types of scenes I do have
- 53:17Speaker 1: to do like kind of no, it's more like the
- 53:20Speaker 1: beginnings of it's never No, you're not humping. There's no humping.
- 53:24Speaker 1: You know what, you just got to watch everybody show.
- 53:28Speaker 1: You gotta watch this show. I'm I'm kind of gonna
- 53:30Speaker 1: watch now. I was gonna watch, but now I'm gonna
- 53:32Speaker 1: extra watch. I'm gonna sit watch. I'm gonna sit closer
- 53:35Speaker 1: to the TV. Now you guys are gonna relate to
- 53:38Speaker 1: you guys, I'm gonna saying you in a long time, Sarah,
- 53:40Speaker 1: you're looking good. Yeah, you look beautiful. Oh it's because
- 53:43Speaker 1: I just had to do this junket thing and they
- 53:45Speaker 1: showed me how to go into zoom and like there's
- 53:47Speaker 1: a button to like touch up your appearance. So it's
- 53:50Speaker 1: just you don't need that, Sarah. Well, you guys are
- 53:55Speaker 1: going to be able to understand, um why this was
- 54:00Speaker 1: like scarier for me than any of that, you know,
- 54:02Speaker 1: a level of undress. The thing that was the most terrifying, uh,
- 54:08Speaker 1: and the thing I had to get most outside of
- 54:09Speaker 1: my comfort zone was I had to sing no way,
- 54:14Speaker 1: oh no, Now you're the one who's always broadcast that
- 54:18Speaker 1: you always broadcast that you're a horrible singer. But I'm
- 54:21Speaker 1: sure you can carry a tune. No, she cannot. I can't.
- 54:25Speaker 1: I truly can't. So so the Maggie said to the
- 54:28Speaker 1: Maggie Freedman, the creative our show said, so, how do
- 54:30Speaker 1: you about karaoke? Or you can rap. We're gonna have
- 54:33Speaker 1: you rap an Eminem song. And I was like, I'm
- 54:35Speaker 1: so down. That's so fun. I love it. I can't wait.
- 54:37Speaker 1: So then the Eminem song did not clear, and it
- 54:40Speaker 1: was right before like a two week break for Christmas holidays,
- 54:43Speaker 1: and she said, okay, so we've cleared these five songs,
- 54:46Speaker 1: so pick anyone that you want and you can sing
- 54:49Speaker 1: it for karaoke. And I I was like, oh, but
- 54:54Speaker 1: the like these are all singing. There's no rap here,
- 54:57Speaker 1: and she said, yeah, you have to pick one. So
- 54:58Speaker 1: I'm driving up to Whistle. My sister Piper's driving. I'm
- 55:01Speaker 1: in the passenger seat, my kids in the back, and
- 55:03Speaker 1: I'm just like given her, just belting out one after
- 55:06Speaker 1: the next, and Piper's like, nope, next one, not a chance,
- 55:10Speaker 1: next one hundred percent, no, next one, don't even think
- 55:14Speaker 1: about it. And so then I'm like, Piper, we're out
- 55:18Speaker 1: of songs, Like, we're out of songs. I have to
- 55:20Speaker 1: pick one of these. So I call up Maggie and
- 55:22Speaker 1: I was like, Maggie's sure. There's like not any rap
- 55:24Speaker 1: song in the history of turning the Clear, please please,
- 55:27Speaker 1: for the love of God, I was kicked out of
- 55:28Speaker 1: the choir by Missus McKinnon in grade five in Scards
- 55:30Speaker 1: for Life, and I, you know, told chalk girl's mouth
- 55:33Speaker 1: the words for this performance singing Christmas Carols in the
- 55:36Speaker 1: mall and she said, no, it's really it's one of
- 55:40Speaker 1: these five third songs. So I had to sing, and
- 55:44Speaker 1: I asked for a singing lesson, so they gave me
- 55:46Speaker 1: a singing lesson, which was great. And then and then
- 55:49Speaker 1: it comes to the day to do it, and we
- 55:51Speaker 1: get to the bar and they're like, well, there's no
- 55:53Speaker 1: place to set up a screen for karaoke, and we
- 55:57Speaker 1: really want to get the audio from today, so we're
- 55:59Speaker 1: just put an earwig in your ear and so you're
- 56:03Speaker 1: gonna be singing. The bar will be silent, Oh god,
- 56:07Speaker 1: So the sound of migrating voice, what's salting out? Up?
- 56:13Speaker 1: Something by Chumbawamba And wait, what's that song I get
- 56:18Speaker 1: knocked out? Whiskey that the good times? Do you think times?
- 56:29Speaker 1: Danny Boy? Will you give our audience a little preview
- 56:40Speaker 1: of of this? Sarah got hold on. Yeah, yeah, you know.
- 56:46Speaker 1: I mean it was I will just start sweating even
- 56:48Speaker 1: more than I did try to figure out the headphones
- 56:50Speaker 1: and the piece of this interview. I love that you
- 56:53Speaker 1: are singing now. Well well so, I mean I came
- 56:57Speaker 1: home and told my sisters this story and they were like,
- 56:59Speaker 1: stopped talking. I can't They were like, I can't even
- 57:00Speaker 1: hear it. It's just the idea. Like it just got
- 57:02Speaker 1: so uncomfortable hearing that I had to get up in
- 57:06Speaker 1: front of a hundred people and just like fill this
- 57:08Speaker 1: bar with the sound of only my voice and I
- 57:10Speaker 1: had this earwig, not with um the actual song playing,
- 57:14Speaker 1: but just sort of like this clicking rhythm of like,
- 57:19Speaker 1: and I was like, but you know that I'm not musical,
- 57:20Speaker 1: and I don't understand when to jump in, like just
- 57:23Speaker 1: jump in with my dialogue and um. So I was
- 57:28Speaker 1: just like, Okay, the only way out is through. We
- 57:29Speaker 1: just gotta I just started dancing, like while I was
- 57:32Speaker 1: singing to try and distract for the fact that I
- 57:33Speaker 1: was singing and something. How was your Katherine Heigel experience?
- 57:41Speaker 1: Did you enjoy working with her? So, Katie, Katherine and
- 57:44Speaker 1: I had never met. Do let Hill is a mutual friend.
- 57:47Speaker 1: My god, how why did Dulee Hill come up every
- 57:49Speaker 1: episode when we don't bring even when we don't bring him,
- 57:55Speaker 1: bring him up, our guests bring him up because he's yeah,
- 57:59Speaker 1: when you have him on, let me come on and
- 58:00Speaker 1: say thank you to him. Because what happened was he
- 58:03Speaker 1: called me and he was like, my friend, Katherine Heigel
- 58:05Speaker 1: is doing this new Netflix series called Firefly Lane in Vancouver,
- 58:08Speaker 1: your hometown. Can you guys, you know, chat about neighborhoods
- 58:10Speaker 1: and schools and stuff that for her kids. And so
- 58:13Speaker 1: we got on the phone and we talked for like
- 58:15Speaker 1: an hour and just really had the best time. And
- 58:20Speaker 1: it was like a month later I think I got
- 58:21Speaker 1: this script in my inbox and I opened it up.
- 58:25Speaker 1: I was like, wait, this is this is Katherine Heigel's show.
- 58:27Speaker 1: And I read it and it was just this incredible
- 58:32Speaker 1: story and I was so in love with the part
- 58:34Speaker 1: and in love with the idea of playing somebody over
- 58:36Speaker 1: three decades. And so then we met at the cast
- 58:39Speaker 1: party and then our first two days together were like,
- 58:43Speaker 1: you know, playing dress up in the hair and makeup trailer,
- 58:45Speaker 1: going like wait, put that way, cut your hair, shorder longer,
- 58:48Speaker 1: try this wig on, more blue eyeshadow, less shoulder pads,
- 58:51Speaker 1: more stirrup pants. And then we just, uh, you know,
- 58:56Speaker 1: started hanging out on the weekends and hiking the dogs.
- 58:58Speaker 1: And then she would have wine and cheese nights for
- 59:02Speaker 1: the cast at her house, and then I had parties
- 59:05Speaker 1: at my house and her husband Josh would come over
- 59:07Speaker 1: and bring his guitar, and then it evolved into like
- 59:08Speaker 1: dance parties in my backyard. And it was just one
- 59:11Speaker 1: of those things where we got so lucky because I think,
- 59:15Speaker 1: you know, have to fake. I mean, it's like you
- 59:18Speaker 1: guys are best friends in real life, and so that's
- 59:19Speaker 1: just like translated in the show. We just got along
- 59:21Speaker 1: so well, and I think having to fake when you're
- 59:23Speaker 1: actually doing scenes where you're sobbing on someone's shoulder. Okay,
- 59:27Speaker 1: you're not gonna believe this. Hang on second, I'm taking
- 59:29Speaker 1: this with I had this crazy I had time to
- 59:33Speaker 1: eat right before we started. I thought, would oh, oh
- 59:41Speaker 1: my god, in case, in case anyone didn't know, if
- 59:51Speaker 1: Sarah was her real character as Elliott. It's fine, it's fine,
- 59:56Speaker 1: it's fine. You know what I was like what it
- 59:58Speaker 1: smells so good and bad all the same time. You
- 1:00:01Speaker 1: are such a character, Sarah Chalk. Should we get into
- 1:00:04Speaker 1: the show? Yeah, we should probably talk about Scrubs. All right, Sorry,
- 1:00:09Speaker 1: sorry for the one hour prologue. It's time to talk
- 1:00:12Speaker 1: about the television show Scrubs. Donald Ready, are you ready
- 1:00:17Speaker 1: with your recap? Ready? Let me set my timer because
- 1:00:23Speaker 1: everyone wants to know and go. Carla has competition in
- 1:00:29Speaker 1: the advice department. Cox needs a win. Jd and Elliott
- 1:00:32Speaker 1: seemed to be on the relationshipment and Molly Clock played
- 1:00:36Speaker 1: by heaven Graham, could be its own investigative medical comedy
- 1:00:41Speaker 1: with the cast of Scrubs as a supporting element. Being
- 1:00:44Speaker 1: competitive is one of the most resourceful human assets in life.
- 1:00:49Speaker 1: It can fuel a person to greatness. Some people go
- 1:00:52Speaker 1: too far, some people have a problem. Life isn't the competition,
- 1:00:56Speaker 1: but I often find I'm most effective and successful and
- 1:00:59Speaker 1: I compeat in its game. M in It's game. Nice
- 1:01:03Speaker 1: forty six seconds graph guy. Hey, I was not to
- 1:01:07Speaker 1: mention the Jordan documentary again, but you just made me
- 1:01:09Speaker 1: think of it. How they were like, do you have
- 1:01:11Speaker 1: a gambling problem? He's like, no, I'm addicted to competing.
- 1:01:15Speaker 1: And it made me think of what you just said,
- 1:01:17Speaker 1: because he just wanted to He wanted to bet, He
- 1:01:21Speaker 1: wanted to compete on anything and everything in his life.
- 1:01:24Speaker 1: And yeah, and my point is it drove him. Like
- 1:01:27Speaker 1: you're saying, Um, the characters in this episode, Yeah, I mean,
- 1:01:32Speaker 1: you can become great just because of the because of
- 1:01:36Speaker 1: your competitive nature. You know. It's it's half of the
- 1:01:40Speaker 1: half of the game is to compete. Yeah, And everybody
- 1:01:43Speaker 1: in this episode is competing absolutely in some way, shape
- 1:01:47Speaker 1: or form. Yeah. Now, this episode has a very famous
- 1:01:51Speaker 1: moment in it for Scrubs fans, and that is when
- 1:01:55Speaker 1: Johnny c McGinley starts the episode off by saying, either
- 1:01:58Speaker 1: this kid has a light bulb up his but or
- 1:02:00Speaker 1: his colon has a great idea. The best line the
- 1:02:06Speaker 1: X ray. That is one of the funniest jokes I
- 1:02:09Speaker 1: think ever in Scrubs history. Now, was there another episode
- 1:02:13Speaker 1: about the ass box or was this the only ass
- 1:02:15Speaker 1: box episode? There's no, there's there's an episode that's solely
- 1:02:19Speaker 1: about as boy and and and as Scrubs Wiki points out,
- 1:02:24Speaker 1: the light bulb that's finally pulled out of this young
- 1:02:27Speaker 1: man's sphincter anus cavity would likely go in the ass
- 1:02:32Speaker 1: box if it weren't for the fact that the guys
- 1:02:36Speaker 1: decide to put it in Kelso's lamp. Right, yeah, that's
- 1:02:44Speaker 1: so funny. He goes the lord the heat from the light.
- 1:02:48Speaker 1: That's so gross. The whole the major storyline of this
- 1:02:56Speaker 1: episode is how do you get a light bulb out
- 1:02:58Speaker 1: of someone's annal cat You gotta go from the top
- 1:03:01Speaker 1: and push. I mean, everyone has everyone has different theories.
- 1:03:06Speaker 1: And the janitor who knew who knew the janitor would
- 1:03:11Speaker 1: be up such service? And when the fuck is the
- 1:03:13Speaker 1: janitor doing in an operating room and the same time,
- 1:03:16Speaker 1: at the same time a mask. Nobody has on anything.
- 1:03:21Speaker 1: At this end, you have to you know, it's framed
- 1:03:23Speaker 1: out obviously, but you have to imagine that the guy
- 1:03:25Speaker 1: is on all fours with his anus opens in the sky,
- 1:03:29Speaker 1: right and and and the two doctors, okay, they're there,
- 1:03:32Speaker 1: but so is the janitor just looking down like how
- 1:03:36Speaker 1: is that guy? Okay? It was like, what would he
- 1:03:38Speaker 1: never think to say? Guys, can you fucking kick the
- 1:03:40Speaker 1: janitor out of there? Well? The fact that they're doing
- 1:03:45Speaker 1: it for this guy. And Kelso's like when Cox's like,
- 1:03:48Speaker 1: let me guess he donated a wing, and Kelso goes,
- 1:03:51Speaker 1: he donated a wing a thigh and as he goes, yes,
- 1:03:57Speaker 1: genius in this metaphor of the hospital is a chick.
- 1:04:00Speaker 1: And that was very funny. I thought I laughed at
- 1:04:07Speaker 1: this episode. Yeah, there's very much. You don't remember this
- 1:04:10Speaker 1: episode at all. I don't remember this at a. First
- 1:04:12Speaker 1: of all, it's the first time you ever call Neil janitor.
- 1:04:15Speaker 1: That's usually Sarah's thing, but you're like janitor, right, yeah, dude,
- 1:04:22Speaker 1: Like I love the three of them together. The three
- 1:04:25Speaker 1: of them together was a lot of fun. It was
- 1:04:27Speaker 1: like when Neil shows up in a doctor's coat and
- 1:04:31Speaker 1: then he puts on the old school mirror, where'd you
- 1:04:36Speaker 1: get the coat? There's some very funny um Neil things.
- 1:04:42Speaker 1: What about when Sarah and I are are are in
- 1:04:44Speaker 1: the we're coach chiefs, right, and we're in our tiny
- 1:04:46Speaker 1: office and uh and Neil comes in and he bangs
- 1:04:50Speaker 1: his card against our desks and he's like, sorry, sorry,
- 1:04:53Speaker 1: time to clean, and we're like and then he goes, oops,
- 1:04:55Speaker 1: he's spraying. He oops that one got away, and I'm like, oh,
- 1:04:59Speaker 1: it bears since in my eyes was over. He goes,
- 1:05:02Speaker 1: I'm only burns. Write that down. Write that down. I
- 1:05:05Speaker 1: want to talk about the supporting cast in this episode,
- 1:05:08Speaker 1: because the three of them were hilarious. Todd, Doug, and
- 1:05:14Speaker 1: Uh and Nurse Roberts have some of the funny, but
- 1:05:16Speaker 1: I wrote down. Aloma was on fire in this episode
- 1:05:21Speaker 1: when she goes, maybe she's racist. That shit had me rolling.
- 1:05:26Speaker 1: Why is everybody why Elliott taking advice from Molly and
- 1:05:31Speaker 1: not me? Maybe she's racist? That was funny. What if
- 1:05:37Speaker 1: I went, Alma so straight, so straight and so dry?
- 1:05:41Speaker 1: She goes, Doug wants to give this guy five hundred
- 1:05:43Speaker 1: thousand milligrounds a morphine. I thought I'd check with you
- 1:05:46Speaker 1: before I killed him. Man, delivery was perfection. I thought
- 1:05:55Speaker 1: before Castle and Alma right on the show. Gotten a
- 1:05:59Speaker 1: lot of requests. We got Joel, We've got in a
- 1:06:02Speaker 1: lot of requests. Let's have both of them on at
- 1:06:04Speaker 1: the same time. About that? And what about what about
- 1:06:06Speaker 1: when Zeltzer? When Bob Glen says, that's why my wife
- 1:06:10Speaker 1: and I use candles, Yeah, what does he mean? Though
- 1:06:13Speaker 1: he means they shove candles up each other's dude, they
- 1:06:16Speaker 1: jam candles up each other, they do. It's a lot
- 1:06:19Speaker 1: of this. Yeah, how it hurts Zeltzer is such a
- 1:06:23Speaker 1: twisted fuck. I love Bob Clendon, another person we need
- 1:06:25Speaker 1: to have on the podcast. And Nickhead was so funny
- 1:06:28Speaker 1: in this one. I want to talk about Beard Fas
- 1:06:33Speaker 1: or Beard Face in different points in the background. Yeah,
- 1:06:36Speaker 1: they can't figure out where Beards works in this hospital,
- 1:06:40Speaker 1: Like he's all over the place. And you even noticed that.
- 1:06:42Speaker 1: I've really noticed because I'm always tracking the progress of
- 1:06:45Speaker 1: Beard Fast. He's very often in the pharmacy window, so like,
- 1:06:49Speaker 1: is he a pharmacist? And if he's a pharmacist, how
- 1:06:51Speaker 1: come he's everywhere else? Like, shouldn't I be filling in hospital? Right?
- 1:06:57Speaker 1: He's in the er all the time. He's everywhere Beards. Yeah.
- 1:07:02Speaker 1: The thing about the key background players like Beard Fasse, Mickhead,
- 1:07:06Speaker 1: um Snoop Dogg Resident, they always knew where the camera was,
- 1:07:10Speaker 1: so they were smart. They knew, like my background work
- 1:07:12Speaker 1: will be like where the camera is, obviously, But I'm
- 1:07:16Speaker 1: trying to like process who Beard Fasse is in the hospital, Like,
- 1:07:22Speaker 1: if he's not the pharmacist, why is he always in
- 1:07:24Speaker 1: the pharmacy window. Right, Mickhead is a doctor. Snoop Dogg
- 1:07:29Speaker 1: is an intern. Is Johnny Castle's a resident? Johnny Castle
- 1:07:35Speaker 1: didn't make resident. He didn't make resident resident. It's so funny.
- 1:07:41Speaker 1: It's so funny when Sarah and I each have to
- 1:07:43Speaker 1: pick our interns and Doug goes pick the hot chick
- 1:07:46Speaker 1: and I go, shut up, Doug will take the hot chick.
- 1:07:53Speaker 1: So that was very funny. When when when Cox on
- 1:07:56Speaker 1: the ramp tells me that Sarah has been chosen as
- 1:08:01Speaker 1: the chief, that was very funny. I screamed you to
- 1:08:05Speaker 1: throw all the cards there, I go, I just like
- 1:08:09Speaker 1: this was this is a meme that I see all
- 1:08:10Speaker 1: the time. Um or a gift? Um? Why do you
- 1:08:14Speaker 1: hate me when I show you nothing but love? And
- 1:08:18Speaker 1: then I scream It was one of my favorite moments
- 1:08:23Speaker 1: of the episode that you're like, I just I just
- 1:08:24Speaker 1: have three questions. Why do I mean, who's gonna tell
- 1:08:28Speaker 1: my mom? And what the hell am I gonna do
- 1:08:30Speaker 1: with five thousand Dorian residentief president business cards? Yeah, I
- 1:08:34Speaker 1: made the cards made and then I and then right
- 1:08:37Speaker 1: away I used it to hit on a hit on
- 1:08:38Speaker 1: a chick. Um. We should talk about Heather, because she's
- 1:08:45Speaker 1: really so great and and and even though this is
- 1:08:49Speaker 1: an episode and you're narrating, she kind of is the
- 1:08:52Speaker 1: storyteller in this episode. Yeah, popping in and out of everywhere.
- 1:08:57Speaker 1: I thought she did a wonderful job. This actually could
- 1:09:00Speaker 1: be a show. I remember that after she did her
- 1:09:03Speaker 1: run with Us, she went on and did another show
- 1:09:05Speaker 1: for a little bit. But I don't know what that
- 1:09:07Speaker 1: Emily's reasons why not? Yeah? Was that a was that
- 1:09:10Speaker 1: the medical show that she did right after us? It
- 1:09:13Speaker 1: wasn't medical, but it was it was. It was short lived,
- 1:09:15Speaker 1: it didn't it didn't have a long run. But yeah,
- 1:09:17Speaker 1: I mean I think that this, I mean, I just
- 1:09:20Speaker 1: I'm sure Heather would agree that this, Like this showed
- 1:09:23Speaker 1: a new side to her. People knew her as like,
- 1:09:25Speaker 1: you know, the sexy blonde, you know, leading lady, and
- 1:09:30Speaker 1: this really showed that she could be versatile and be
- 1:09:33Speaker 1: really funny. Yeah, she was very well she character actor.
- 1:09:36Speaker 1: She showed that she has the skills. Yeah, she's really
- 1:09:39Speaker 1: funny in this. Yeah. One of my favorite moments is
- 1:09:41Speaker 1: when when she Judy goes up, why did you just
- 1:09:43Speaker 1: close your eyes at me? She's like, oh, I can't
- 1:09:45Speaker 1: blink and she she's so weird the character she sets up.
- 1:09:52Speaker 1: She sets up work on a bench because she can't
- 1:09:54Speaker 1: find her office. Yeah, this is not my She walks
- 1:09:57Speaker 1: into your office and goes, this is not my offic
- 1:10:00Speaker 1: this you know what movie that's from? Yeah, if you
- 1:10:03Speaker 1: can come on, man, Beverly Hills cop, this is not
- 1:10:05Speaker 1: I think it's too, is it too? This is not
- 1:10:08Speaker 1: my locker is the first one. This is not my locker.
- 1:10:11Speaker 1: It's the first. Is that motherfucking axe of Polly in here?
- 1:10:15Speaker 1: That guy was so good, that actor and yeah, you
- 1:10:18Speaker 1: play get it chewed off to be the man you see,
- 1:10:21Speaker 1: I ain't got no ass left. You still got a
- 1:10:23Speaker 1: little bit ass, a little bit. Don't fuck with me.
- 1:10:26Speaker 1: Axel a great actor. So was the captain of the
- 1:10:32Speaker 1: Beverly Hills. When he's like, yeah, bug a mill. But
- 1:10:36Speaker 1: is this the man who? Oh that guy right? We
- 1:10:39Speaker 1: we we And my sister used to laugh so hard
- 1:10:42Speaker 1: at him, going, it's this the man who wrecked the
- 1:10:46Speaker 1: buffet at the Harrow Club. And then he walks out,
- 1:10:52Speaker 1: and then he walks out and Eddie Murphy picks up
- 1:10:54Speaker 1: on it, the man who wrecked Is this the man
- 1:11:00Speaker 1: who disabled one of our patrol cars by sticking a
- 1:11:04Speaker 1: banana in the tailors. Didn't disabled disabled one of our
- 1:11:10Speaker 1: patrol cars with banana? That guy. That guy was amazing.
- 1:11:18Speaker 1: I bet no one has ever pointed out that both
- 1:11:20Speaker 1: captains in Beverly Hill's Cup are masterfully played, well played,
- 1:11:25Speaker 1: well play. You didn't did you? Five? Seven eighth before
- 1:11:28Speaker 1: you can be? Sarah? Do you want to try it?
- 1:11:32Speaker 1: You can do it on the way out, Sarah, you can.
- 1:11:34Speaker 1: You got that, you got the extro. So let's explore this.
- 1:11:38Speaker 1: This is the beginning of JD and Elliott rekindling their
- 1:11:42Speaker 1: friendship trying. But I mean, I don't understand what the
- 1:11:44Speaker 1: hell j I didn't understand what the hell J's doing.
- 1:11:47Speaker 1: He's like, he just broke this woman's heart, and I
- 1:11:52Speaker 1: mean he's I mean, I was just watching these backs, Sarah.
- 1:11:54Speaker 1: I'm so infuriated by my character. Sometimes It's like he
- 1:11:58Speaker 1: just he just broke up with her in Broker Heart,
- 1:12:00Speaker 1: broke her up with Sean for no reason. And now
- 1:12:03Speaker 1: he's like, hey, it'd be really great if we could
- 1:12:05Speaker 1: like hang out, you know, like his friends, like outside coffee.
- 1:12:08Speaker 1: And she's like so nice to him, like, well, I
- 1:12:10Speaker 1: need a little more time, like she should be like
- 1:12:12Speaker 1: fuck you, agreed, although she is like fuck you for
- 1:12:17Speaker 1: a lot of it. But then they do have I thought,
- 1:12:18Speaker 1: I don't know, I thought that coffee, like that coffee
- 1:12:20Speaker 1: scene was kind of sweet, so I know, but didn't
- 1:12:23Speaker 1: you feel that it was a little soon, like knowing
- 1:12:25Speaker 1: what Jad has done to this poor woman. Yes, yeah,
- 1:12:28Speaker 1: I don't know how she can ever forgive. I don't
- 1:12:30Speaker 1: know how she could ever forgive you. The thing is,
- 1:12:32Speaker 1: I mean she has to because you guys work in
- 1:12:35Speaker 1: the same place, so eventually, you guys are gonna have
- 1:12:37Speaker 1: to be and you work, you guys seem to have
- 1:12:40Speaker 1: the same shifts all the time, so you're gonna have
- 1:12:42Speaker 1: to be. I wish they'd explained a little bit more.
- 1:12:45Speaker 1: And I get, I know the truth that fucking people
- 1:12:48Speaker 1: do this all the time and and it's and it's real,
- 1:12:50Speaker 1: But I wish they'd explain a little more, like what
- 1:12:54Speaker 1: what JD was so afraid of, because he's clearly crazy
- 1:12:57Speaker 1: about her. He's afraid of commitment or something. Whenever I
- 1:13:00Speaker 1: just feel like it's never really exposed, like why is
- 1:13:02Speaker 1: he playing such mind games with her? It's not he's
- 1:13:05Speaker 1: not sinister because obviously does truly love her at the
- 1:13:10Speaker 1: end of the end, because we're trying to go nine seasons, dude,
- 1:13:13Speaker 1: that's why, just because do we remember? Do we do?
- 1:13:17Speaker 1: Do we find out later in I think Donald's right
- 1:13:22Speaker 1: that the production reason is because people are so into
- 1:13:24Speaker 1: will there, won't they get them together? Break them up?
- 1:13:27Speaker 1: Get them together, break them up? But I don't remember,
- 1:13:30Speaker 1: and just watching it, I'm like, why is this guy
- 1:13:32Speaker 1: such a fucking asshole? People? And it's not like that
- 1:13:35Speaker 1: in real life too. The will there, won't they get
- 1:13:37Speaker 1: them together? Break them up? That's only for movies. Men. Well,
- 1:13:40Speaker 1: I don't know. There's a lot of people listening. I'm
- 1:13:42Speaker 1: sure who who've gotten back together, broken up, gotten back together,
- 1:13:46Speaker 1: broken up with the same person? Yeah, and that relationship
- 1:13:48Speaker 1: still didn't work. You're saying that in the end. If
- 1:13:52Speaker 1: you're doing that bullshit, you can't really work. Ultimately, there's
- 1:13:54Speaker 1: no way getting back together, breaking up, getting back together,
- 1:13:57Speaker 1: breaking up, getting back together, breaking up works out in
- 1:14:00Speaker 1: the end, there's no way. I Can't's parents were married
- 1:14:03Speaker 1: three times. It's eventually Yeah, who was to Matthew McConaughey's parents. Yeah,
- 1:14:11Speaker 1: and then his father died while he was having sex
- 1:14:13Speaker 1: with his mom. Yeah, that's impressive. I did not know
- 1:14:17Speaker 1: this story, Joel with the imagine you mention you get
- 1:14:22Speaker 1: married and then it doesn't work out, you get divorced,
- 1:14:25Speaker 1: and then you go, I am not I regret it.
- 1:14:28Speaker 1: Let's get married again? No no, no, no, okay, no,
- 1:14:30Speaker 1: we got divorced again? All right? You know what I miss? You?
- 1:14:33Speaker 1: Should we get married again? Why why not just date?
- 1:14:39Speaker 1: I just don't see that happening, like I think. I
- 1:14:41Speaker 1: think even when you get back together with someone and
- 1:14:43Speaker 1: who you've been with a long time, like let's say
- 1:14:45Speaker 1: it was years since you had dated, and then you
- 1:14:49Speaker 1: meet each other again and you date again, I think
- 1:14:51Speaker 1: the minute that I don't think people change that much
- 1:14:54Speaker 1: to where you know, the things that annoyed you back
- 1:14:58Speaker 1: then are going to pop up eventually and you're gonna
- 1:15:01Speaker 1: be like, this is the same shit that it was
- 1:15:03Speaker 1: ten years ago. But I'm a romantic. Don't you believe
- 1:15:06Speaker 1: that that you can meet someone down the line that
- 1:15:08Speaker 1: you had a thing with and you can be like,
- 1:15:10Speaker 1: all of a sudden, it's new context and you've both
- 1:15:13Speaker 1: experienced a lot of life, and you went and you
- 1:15:15Speaker 1: go eureka, oh my god, When Harry Met Sally is
- 1:15:18Speaker 1: a movie that shit does not happen in real life. Man,
- 1:15:21Speaker 1: people don't have people aren't that busy telling you right now? Oh,
- 1:15:29Speaker 1: I don't think people are that busy, dude. I don't
- 1:15:31Speaker 1: think people have that much going on in their life
- 1:15:33Speaker 1: that all of a sudden, four years, five years makes
- 1:15:36Speaker 1: such a big difference when it comes to relationships. I
- 1:15:40Speaker 1: don't especially if the person and if the person annoyed
- 1:15:43Speaker 1: you five years ago, most likely they're gonna annoy you
- 1:15:46Speaker 1: to five years later. Well, listen, if you're someone that
- 1:15:48Speaker 1: like got back together with their like high school or
- 1:15:51Speaker 1: college sweetheart after so many years of and maybe you
- 1:15:54Speaker 1: both got married other people, and that you came when
- 1:15:56Speaker 1: you contact you, well, because I'd like to have you
- 1:15:59Speaker 1: on well, hold on, hold on, hold on, hold on,
- 1:16:01Speaker 1: hold on, hold up. You dated in the path. This
- 1:16:04Speaker 1: is what it has to be. You dated in the past,
- 1:16:07Speaker 1: you broke up because it was a broke the relationship sucked.
- 1:16:12Speaker 1: And then ten years later, however, you've got married and
- 1:16:15Speaker 1: then later on you got back together because you both
- 1:16:19Speaker 1: have changed so much. I am I am eager to
- 1:16:21Speaker 1: talk to you, want to hear and it has to
- 1:16:23Speaker 1: have worked out and it has to have worked out.
- 1:16:26Speaker 1: Do you have to still be together? It can't be
- 1:16:27Speaker 1: all we dated for like a year and then it
- 1:16:29Speaker 1: shit didn't work, or we've been dating for a year
- 1:16:31Speaker 1: now and the ship and it's going okay. You have
- 1:16:34Speaker 1: to you have to have did it broken up and
- 1:16:37Speaker 1: then been a success again for at least what how
- 1:16:41Speaker 1: how long should we say, guys? Years? Two years to
- 1:16:45Speaker 1: two years? And the sex has to be better than
- 1:16:47Speaker 1: it ever was, and y'all better be fucking that's right,
- 1:16:50Speaker 1: y'all better, And we want to hear about I want
- 1:16:52Speaker 1: to hear about that. We want to hear you fun.
- 1:16:54Speaker 1: We're gonna have you on the fuck on the show, right,
- 1:16:57Speaker 1: We're gonna, We're gonna, We're gonna We're we're gonna start
- 1:17:00Speaker 1: only fans, fake doctors, real friends, only fans. Are we
- 1:17:03Speaker 1: allowed Joelle to have a couple copulate on the show live?
- 1:17:06Speaker 1: Is that my heart? I mean, I think it even
- 1:17:10Speaker 1: don't it'll be the realist only fans ever, because we'll
- 1:17:13Speaker 1: actually have only fans of fake doctors, real friends doing
- 1:17:18Speaker 1: sexual exciting. Do you want to come back when the
- 1:17:20Speaker 1: couple bangs on the show. You're welcome to join us.
- 1:17:23Speaker 1: Those podcasts companies just changed a lot since last We're
- 1:17:29Speaker 1: trying to tone, we're trying to we're trying to trim
- 1:17:32Speaker 1: back the sexual talk of tiny bit. But in this context,
- 1:17:35Speaker 1: why do people write in? Do people comment? No, nobody.
- 1:17:39Speaker 1: Nobody's really don't complaining. People don't complain about the R
- 1:17:42Speaker 1: rated stuff that much making faces hold up Joel. Don't
- 1:17:47Speaker 1: they don't know they don't complain about that. I get it.
- 1:17:49Speaker 1: I think they love it. I get come. I got
- 1:17:50Speaker 1: a woman who who berated me for talking about how
- 1:17:54Speaker 1: I was starving myself and and drinking smoothies to lose weight.
- 1:17:58Speaker 1: She said that I be more responsible for because children
- 1:18:03Speaker 1: have eating disorders. And I completely respect that, But I
- 1:18:07Speaker 1: also feel like I should be able to say, like,
- 1:18:09Speaker 1: I don't follow me. I don't have the healthiest diet
- 1:18:11Speaker 1: in the world. I'm just sharing what I do. But
- 1:18:15Speaker 1: I mean by all means, um, I respect that that
- 1:18:18Speaker 1: young people, people of all ages have eaten. I got
- 1:18:21Speaker 1: I got a I got two letters. One was polite
- 1:18:28Speaker 1: and one was not so polite. One was polite, like, hey, listen, guys, um,
- 1:18:35Speaker 1: I know that you're very busy and you guys have
- 1:18:37Speaker 1: your own lives and stuff like that. But a lot
- 1:18:39Speaker 1: of us really look forward to when the show comes out.
- 1:18:43Speaker 1: So if you guys would not take breaks in between shows,
- 1:18:49Speaker 1: that would be great. Like if you could just if
- 1:18:51Speaker 1: you always did Tuesdays and Thursdays, that'd be great, right,
- 1:18:55Speaker 1: and then and then and then he goes, and this
- 1:18:58Speaker 1: was just Thursday. And remember the past episode dated late?
- 1:19:03Speaker 1: It posted late. Yeah, And so then an hour later
- 1:19:06Speaker 1: I get another one. Oh never mind, it's I see
- 1:19:10Speaker 1: that you posted late, right, that's the first one. The
- 1:19:13Speaker 1: second one is like, that's really fucking rude. Man, what
- 1:19:16Speaker 1: the fuck? Man? Don't you know how much I fucking
- 1:19:18Speaker 1: need this shit? Fuck y'all for this? And then an
- 1:19:21Speaker 1: hour later I apologize, I see you posted late? Is
- 1:19:26Speaker 1: that why you? Is that why you texted us like
- 1:19:28Speaker 1: early in the morning, like the show didn't post. Yeah,
- 1:19:31Speaker 1: that's exactly why. Yea. But that's so cute how much
- 1:19:34Speaker 1: it means to people and how much are counting on it.
- 1:19:36Speaker 1: People are very into the show, and we're very grateful
- 1:19:38Speaker 1: about it. But man, I'm always surprised too, Sarah, like
- 1:19:41Speaker 1: people are. We have the most incredible fans and people
- 1:19:45Speaker 1: really really love this um for some reason. I'm very
- 1:19:49Speaker 1: very very very surprised and very grateful. We have a
- 1:19:54Speaker 1: fan caller, speaking of which we're gonna gonna break, Sarah,
- 1:19:57Speaker 1: would you like to toss to break? I would love to.
- 1:20:01Speaker 1: What you're gonna say. What you're gonna say in Canadian
- 1:20:04Speaker 1: is um. We're gonna take a quick break and be
- 1:20:07Speaker 1: right back with a guest. Put on your tuks and
- 1:20:10Speaker 1: turn off your garbadors, because we're gonna take a quick
- 1:20:12Speaker 1: break and we'll be right back with our guest. Edward

- 1:22:04Speaker 1: not the margarita, but it's like Hurricane her. No, it's

- 1:22:12Speaker 1: it's it's a it's a car is. Hold on, hold on,
- 1:22:15Speaker 1: hold on, hold on. I'm not gonna get her. I'm
- 1:22:17Speaker 1: just gonna ask her. Oh my god, oh my god.
- 1:22:20Speaker 1: Donald has a real doctor's, fake fake fake doctor's real
- 1:22:24Speaker 1: friends One. Want the name of the podcast, Sarah? But yes, Sarah,
- 1:22:28Speaker 1: do you want one of those? Will you wear it around?
- 1:22:30Speaker 1: Are you kidding me? Right now? I want one? I
- 1:22:32Speaker 1: want to I want a zach and DoD onesie if
- 1:22:36Speaker 1: you if you send me a picture of you in
- 1:22:39Speaker 1: the fake doctors real friends onesie My mombo taxi? Did
- 1:22:43Speaker 1: you have a mambo taxi? I did not, because we
- 1:22:46Speaker 1: were going to my son's first communion, so I thought
- 1:22:48Speaker 1: i'd been Oh you didn't want to be hammered at ventilations,
- 1:22:52Speaker 1: well even though I'm not Catholic, But no, you probably
- 1:22:55Speaker 1: had the mombo taxi before. I think I had a
- 1:22:57Speaker 1: one time many years. What's in a mambo taxi? I
- 1:23:00Speaker 1: don't know, but it's like it's it really is like
- 1:23:02Speaker 1: it's like a delicious, tangy, sherberty type of sugar alcoholic
- 1:23:08Speaker 1: and it gets you so drunk, like well, it's a
- 1:23:11Speaker 1: sangria anna margarita mixed together, so good you're not too bad.
- 1:23:17Speaker 1: Hangover all that sugar hurting. Listen, you ever had a
- 1:23:20Speaker 1: mombo taxi? Oh my god? All right, dude, welcome to
- 1:23:28Speaker 1: the program, Jamie. Do you have a question for any
- 1:23:30Speaker 1: of us? Yeah? In fact, um, a couple of podcasts ago,
- 1:23:34Speaker 1: you mentioned how much you were into cinematography. Yes, sir,
- 1:23:36Speaker 1: so my question for the group is what movie has
- 1:23:39Speaker 1: the best cinematography? How could you possibly ask that question? State? Yes, Sarah,
- 1:23:47Speaker 1: good answer. The best photographed movie of all time? Thank you.
- 1:23:52Speaker 1: Although that film was photographed by Larry Sure, who I
- 1:23:57Speaker 1: like to think I discovered because then he went on
- 1:23:59Speaker 1: to be He's famous. Now he's very famous. He's had
- 1:24:02Speaker 1: a lot of big movies, but the Joker has made
- 1:24:05Speaker 1: him an Oscar nominee. Oh I didn't know that. Yeah,
- 1:24:11Speaker 1: who wants to go first? Donald? Do you have a feel?
- 1:24:12Speaker 1: I'm sure it's gonna be a Star Wars movie. I
- 1:24:14Speaker 1: have a favorite cinematography film. Yes, The Empire Strikes Back
- 1:24:17Speaker 1: is filmed actually very well. Um, if you want to
- 1:24:21Speaker 1: look at any of the Star Wars movies, I think
- 1:24:23Speaker 1: that's the most innovative out of all of them. From
- 1:24:26Speaker 1: that moment on it. I'm not gonna say it was
- 1:24:29Speaker 1: the same thing over again, but they just figured out
- 1:24:32Speaker 1: a way to I mean before that, everything was really slow,
- 1:24:36Speaker 1: and then the Empire strikes Back happens and everything is
- 1:24:38Speaker 1: ramped up and it's really fast and the action is
- 1:24:42Speaker 1: fast paced, and so I'm gonna go Empire strikes Back
- 1:24:44Speaker 1: the asteroid field part. So it's one of the first
- 1:24:49Speaker 1: tracking shots of something that isn't real, Like they developed
- 1:24:53Speaker 1: that shot. Just the tonton running in the snow in
- 1:24:56Speaker 1: the beginning is something that's never been done before. It
- 1:25:00Speaker 1: had never been done before, and they had to figure
- 1:25:02Speaker 1: it out at ILM. Just putting it out there, all right, Sarah,
- 1:25:05Speaker 1: do you have a favorite movie in terms of cinematography.
- 1:25:09Speaker 1: I mean, it's been years since I've watched it definitely
- 1:25:11Speaker 1: deserves a rewatch. But I remember at the time being
- 1:25:14Speaker 1: obviously so mindful and by eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. Yeah,
- 1:25:18Speaker 1: that's a great one. What a beautiful movie that is.
- 1:25:22Speaker 1: You didn't say that about Empire Strikes Back, And I'm
- 1:25:24Speaker 1: very disappointed. Well, I just I really, to be honest,
- 1:25:26Speaker 1: I zoned out. I was like, I'm gonna let him
- 1:25:28Speaker 1: do a solid two minutes on sorrow, Social Face. The
- 1:25:37Speaker 1: first thing that popped into my head was the movie Manhattan. Um,
- 1:25:40Speaker 1: it's black and white, it's a it's a Woody Allen movie.
- 1:25:44Speaker 1: I know people have very passionate feelings about Woody Allen
- 1:25:47Speaker 1: and his films now, but that doesn't change the fact
- 1:25:49Speaker 1: that it is a beautifully filmed movie. That's That's like
- 1:25:54Speaker 1: the first thing that popped into my head. A similar
- 1:25:57Speaker 1: thing with like Bradford Young, who's it's like this incredible
- 1:26:01Speaker 1: cinematographer for you people who are like really into popular movies.
- 1:26:05Speaker 1: He did Solo, but then he also did what's a
- 1:26:07Speaker 1: director of photography for Selma. But my cinematographer, David Charry,
- 1:26:11Speaker 1: his favorite movie is Mother of George and the way
- 1:26:14Speaker 1: he just shoots like skin, which seems silly and maybe weird,
- 1:26:18Speaker 1: but it's just it's so beautiful. Everyone is luminescent in
- 1:26:21Speaker 1: the whole movie that has just like gorgeous glow and
- 1:26:24Speaker 1: it's it's really great. I love Bradford Young's work, Okay,
- 1:26:26Speaker 1: Daniel Joel, I'm writing that down Mother of George because
- 1:26:29Speaker 1: I have not. Yeah, definitely check it out, a really
- 1:26:31Speaker 1: powerful movie if I get If I get the chance,
- 1:26:34Speaker 1: I would also say good Fellas. That's yeah, it would
- 1:26:38Speaker 1: be great if you It would be funny if you would.
- 1:26:40Speaker 1: If I get the chance, I'd also like to say
- 1:26:42Speaker 1: Return of the Jedi. You thought I would like to
- 1:26:50Speaker 1: give you a second take on that joke. Okay, you're ready, Yeah,
- 1:26:54Speaker 1: god take two go. If I get the chance, I'd
- 1:26:56Speaker 1: like to also say Return of the Jedi. The way
- 1:27:01Speaker 1: that they captured that walk just there was a just
- 1:27:07Speaker 1: beautiful backlight on the e walks. Fur Um the head
- 1:27:12Speaker 1: Dannel your turn the one that comes to mind recently,
- 1:27:14Speaker 1: Blade Runner twenty forty nine. Shout out, Roger Deakins. You
- 1:27:17Speaker 1: like that? Yeah, I loved it? Yeah, not a lot
- 1:27:20Speaker 1: of really, well, I wasn't. Did you like the movie?
- 1:27:22Speaker 1: The movie was fine, but the experience of watching the
- 1:27:25Speaker 1: movie was unmatched. It's just gorgeous and so many Yeah.
- 1:27:28Speaker 1: By the way, you just made me think of another
- 1:27:30Speaker 1: one that I don't know who shot it? Will you
- 1:27:32Speaker 1: look up for me, Joel? But mad Max fury Road,
- 1:27:35Speaker 1: Oh so good. That is the fact that that movie
- 1:27:39Speaker 1: is not only beautifully photographed, if it weren't for what
- 1:27:42Speaker 1: even even even independent of the way they're filming it.
- 1:27:46Speaker 1: But there's no green screen, and they literally are all
- 1:27:48Speaker 1: flying through the endless desert. And did you know that
- 1:27:52Speaker 1: while you're making that face, Danel, You're right, there's a
- 1:27:54Speaker 1: lot of practical but there's also a ship on the
- 1:27:56Speaker 1: green screen. I'm sure there's a little green screen, but dude,
- 1:27:58Speaker 1: for in terms of movie that have that amount of action,
- 1:28:01Speaker 1: I've watched behind the scenes featurettes on you could feel
- 1:28:05Speaker 1: that heat when that ship comes out. You feel that heat. Man,
- 1:28:09Speaker 1: a million examples, but it's always interesting to know what
- 1:28:11Speaker 1: your brain vomits up. First. For me, it became I
- 1:28:14Speaker 1: went Manhattan, oh and Downs had Good Fellows. For some
- 1:28:16Speaker 1: reason that made me think of Now, it's probably you Down.
- 1:28:19Speaker 1: It's probably when you said, um, Blade Runner, because it
- 1:28:22Speaker 1: made me think of a remake or something. But anyway,
- 1:28:25Speaker 1: those are our answers. There's a zillion answers. Um. I
- 1:28:27Speaker 1: think it's important if you're a film lover to start
- 1:28:33Speaker 1: to get to know cinematographers because, um, they are such
- 1:28:38Speaker 1: an enormous part of the film that you love. I mean,
- 1:28:41Speaker 1: directors in varying degrees are are are either super involved
- 1:28:45Speaker 1: in the cinematography or not at all. Um, And so
- 1:28:49Speaker 1: it really is creating the images of the movie you
- 1:28:52Speaker 1: love so much is really a partnership between the director
- 1:28:56Speaker 1: and the cinematographer, and so it's it's take no of
- 1:29:00Speaker 1: of who they are, because their their names were important too.
- 1:29:03Speaker 1: John Seal is the DP who shot Max. Thank you, hey, Jamie,
- 1:29:07Speaker 1: let me ask you a question. What's yours? Well, Zach
- 1:29:10Speaker 1: kind of stole my thunder there with Fury Road. That's
- 1:29:12Speaker 1: not only was it great really well shot of course, um,
- 1:29:15Speaker 1: but it's also like my second favorite movie. So that
- 1:29:18Speaker 1: that movie just did like it was just such a move,
- 1:29:21Speaker 1: such an Adrine rush. I watch it. I watch it
- 1:29:23Speaker 1: every year just for just because it's so good. Um,
- 1:29:27Speaker 1: all right, what's your next question, Jamie Fullerton? Well, um,
- 1:29:30Speaker 1: I guess this is a real quick one. Um. Will
- 1:29:34Speaker 1: Ken Jenkins been coming be coming back to Scrubs to
- 1:29:36Speaker 1: y'all's podcast because the way his podcast episode ended, Oh,
- 1:29:41Speaker 1: that was my favorite the way he ended it, because
- 1:29:45Speaker 1: and if if, if the people out there haven't seen it,
- 1:29:47Speaker 1: Donald's praise, Donald's giving him praise, just like he's such
- 1:29:51Speaker 1: a great actor. He does this, he does that, and
- 1:29:53Speaker 1: Donald and I called him the MVP of the show.
- 1:29:55Speaker 1: That's right. I was like, Ken, you are the MVP
- 1:29:58Speaker 1: of the show. I mean Donald gave him very nice
- 1:30:00Speaker 1: thing forces and then and then Ken with this with
- 1:30:04Speaker 1: his gravelly voice, says phase On. One of the reasons
- 1:30:07Speaker 1: I agreed to come on this podcast was to hear
- 1:30:10Speaker 1: beautiful bullshit like that. Zach was in the background, just
- 1:30:18Speaker 1: shut it off, we're done, and he was. I was like,
- 1:30:20Speaker 1: you can't beat that. We should have him back? Should
- 1:30:22Speaker 1: we have him back? Joel? Will you do me a favor?
- 1:30:24Speaker 1: Do do everyone do Jamie Fullerton and all the listeners
- 1:30:27Speaker 1: a favor? Find out the most Ken heavy episode, and
- 1:30:31Speaker 1: let's ask him is Sarah, do you want to come
- 1:30:33Speaker 1: back when we have kN on? Yes? All right, I
- 1:30:37Speaker 1: would love it. Oh, I miss Ken um Ken um.
- 1:30:41Speaker 1: His son was very helpful in orchestrating um uh getting
- 1:30:46Speaker 1: kin on, and I'm sure help us again because Ken
- 1:30:48Speaker 1: is a barrel of laughs. Ken could also help me
- 1:30:51Speaker 1: with the technical grace. All right, Jamie, it's time for
- 1:30:55Speaker 1: everyone in Dallas's favorite segment. It's time too mix ye
- 1:31:04Speaker 1: and we also have the beautiful Sarah Chalk here to
- 1:31:07Speaker 1: help you all the way from Vancouver or Van Groovy,
- 1:31:09Speaker 1: don't they say Van Groovy? Sarah people do. Yeah, I've
- 1:31:13Speaker 1: heard it called van groovy. Sarah has new color hair. Yah, Sarah,
- 1:31:16Speaker 1: what color is that? Oh it's called um quarantine cheek.
- 1:31:22Speaker 1: So that's your natural Is that your natural color? This
- 1:31:25Speaker 1: has been a year and four months. You haven't died
- 1:31:29Speaker 1: it in a year and four months. I like it. Um,
- 1:31:33Speaker 1: I have beautiful. I have not dyed it any year
- 1:31:36Speaker 1: four months. I also left it a boot. I think
- 1:31:40Speaker 1: it was almost a year between. I hadn't cut it
- 1:31:43Speaker 1: and I was just like so annoyed with it and done.
- 1:31:47Speaker 1: And my friend was like, if you put it in
- 1:31:48Speaker 1: a ponytail on top of your head and you just
- 1:31:51Speaker 1: cut the end of the ponytail, it kind of makes
- 1:31:54Speaker 1: layers naturally. I did it. I did it, and it
- 1:31:59Speaker 1: does not make lay naturally. I don't have any else.
- 1:32:04Speaker 1: Professional Six was that you have no gray. Oh, it's
- 1:32:07Speaker 1: like zoom. That's the zoom. I'm sure there's I'm sure
- 1:32:11Speaker 1: there's some in there if I got close enough. I'm
- 1:32:13Speaker 1: sad to say that my beard is like all gray
- 1:32:16Speaker 1: and you can't. I thought that was your white as skin.
- 1:32:18Speaker 1: I thought that was your white ass skin. That's not laughing,
- 1:32:26Speaker 1: that's not you're saying that my skin is is white,
- 1:32:31Speaker 1: his gray hair. I don't even have any beerd on it,
- 1:32:33Speaker 1: dick head. He's all right, let's focus on I know Sarah,
- 1:32:42Speaker 1: he smokes so much pot today he can barely focus.
- 1:32:45Speaker 1: It's Friday, do it man? He does it on a
- 1:32:48Speaker 1: Monday morning taxi. Jamie, you probably don't have legal weed
- 1:32:56Speaker 1: down there yet, right, No, I don't think so. Yeah. Yeah,
- 1:33:00Speaker 1: well yeah, it's gonna take the southest mentioned longer. But
- 1:33:03Speaker 1: Donald really takes advantage of the recreational legal weed here
- 1:33:07Speaker 1: in California. Go for it, right, you know, I'm gonna
- 1:33:10Speaker 1: be honest with you. Go ahead. I am trying to stop.
- 1:33:15Speaker 1: Well it's not going well, it's not unfailing. All right, Jamie,
- 1:33:22Speaker 1: how can we how can we fix your life? Okay?
- 1:33:24Speaker 1: Now I'm glad Sarah's here too, because I have to
- 1:33:28Speaker 1: because as a fellow parent, I have a question. Did
- 1:33:31Speaker 1: y'all find having raising when it or having an eight
- 1:33:35Speaker 1: year old to be very difficult? Whenever he's about eight
- 1:33:41Speaker 1: years old? Is it always it's always difficult. I'm just
- 1:33:46Speaker 1: saying it seems to be getting Yeah, yeah, there started.
- 1:33:51Speaker 1: He's very my son seven, he's very rebellious. Now and
- 1:33:54Speaker 1: very he's starting to uh discover his personality and the
- 1:33:58Speaker 1: things that makes him who he is. And uh, he's
- 1:34:05Speaker 1: very funny. He's very uh immature and very loud. And
- 1:34:14Speaker 1: when I say immature, I don't mean immature like uh,
- 1:34:18Speaker 1: like he's not keeping up. He's immature. Like his jokes,
- 1:34:23Speaker 1: albeit they are a little bit grown for his age,
- 1:34:27Speaker 1: are a little immature. Like, you know, what he finds
- 1:34:30Speaker 1: funny is potty jokes and stuff like that. Probably finds
- 1:34:34Speaker 1: funny and yeah, yeah, I know, I know, but but
- 1:34:38Speaker 1: nothing like a seven year old telling a poop jokes.
- 1:34:42Speaker 1: One of his jokes, he'll be like, knock, knock. So okay.
- 1:34:47Speaker 1: So look, we were watching Splash on Disney Plus the
- 1:34:50Speaker 1: other night, and I remember my wife was at the
- 1:34:54Speaker 1: beginning it says, this film has been modified because I
- 1:34:57Speaker 1: remember when I was a kid, there's a little bit
- 1:34:58Speaker 1: of booby nipple slippage and splash. Oh I remember Daryl
- 1:35:01Speaker 1: Hannah triggering some things inside me. Right, And so we're
- 1:35:05Speaker 1: watching the movie and they've now covered all of that.
- 1:35:07Speaker 1: So I'm like, great, we don't have to worry about it.
- 1:35:10Speaker 1: But then the Swede. The Swedes come to view the
- 1:35:16Speaker 1: Mermaid and I don't know if you guys remembering splash.
- 1:35:20Speaker 1: When the Swedish scientists come, Eugene Levy, Tom Hanks, and
- 1:35:27Speaker 1: John Candy pose as these scientists, or Eugene Levy returns
- 1:35:32Speaker 1: as the scientists, and then John Candy and Tom Hanks
- 1:35:35Speaker 1: posed as the Swedes. But they don't speak a word
- 1:35:37Speaker 1: of of of Swedish, right of the Swedish language, and
- 1:35:42Speaker 1: the the guy the guard at the gate is the
- 1:35:46Speaker 1: guard at the door is like, you know, guys, I
- 1:35:49Speaker 1: gotta be honest with you before you go. And I
- 1:35:52Speaker 1: took Swedish lessons in college and so I am actually
- 1:35:58Speaker 1: kind of fluent. I'd love to practice on you guys.
- 1:36:00Speaker 1: And so he says something and they look at each
- 1:36:03Speaker 1: other and they're like sure, yeah, yeah, sure yeah, And
- 1:36:09Speaker 1: then they try to walk by and he's like, wait,
- 1:36:11Speaker 1: hold up, hold up, hold up, and then he says
- 1:36:14Speaker 1: something like what are in Swedish? He says in Sweden?
- 1:36:17Speaker 1: He says, what are two guys like you doing in
- 1:36:19Speaker 1: New York this time of year? And John Candy goes
- 1:36:24Speaker 1: in Swedish, hey, babe, you know I have a twelve
- 1:36:26Speaker 1: inch penis and then they all start laughing my son
- 1:36:31Speaker 1: can read now he's seven. Yea, So now everything every
- 1:36:39Speaker 1: joke he tells is knock knock, Hey babe, Hey babe,
- 1:36:47Speaker 1: Hey babe. Who hey babe. You know I have a
- 1:36:49Speaker 1: twelve inch penis' problematic. So Jamie, all you gott is
- 1:36:58Speaker 1: watch Splash with your kids. There you go, promiself, They're
- 1:37:02Speaker 1: always gonna be They're always gonna be that way, dude,
- 1:37:04Speaker 1: They're always going to be difficult. As my point, you're
- 1:37:06Speaker 1: never ever gonna be comfortable in this situation as a dad.
- 1:37:10Speaker 1: Your best job, your best thing you can ever do,
- 1:37:12Speaker 1: the best thing you can do is try to raise
- 1:37:15Speaker 1: a good person. And they're gonna annoy the shit out
- 1:37:17Speaker 1: of you. But you got to persevere. You're the adult.
- 1:37:20Speaker 1: You're in charge by you. Saray, you got any child's advice,
- 1:37:23Speaker 1: child rears wells Okay, So Jamie, tell me what is
- 1:37:25Speaker 1: it specifically that's happening right now. Well, it's just a
- 1:37:29Speaker 1: lot of times he uh, we need him to do
- 1:37:32Speaker 1: something and he just starts to try to make jokes.
- 1:37:34Speaker 1: He tries to just blow it off. I'll give you
- 1:37:37Speaker 1: an example. Yesterday, his mom wanted him to put away
- 1:37:40Speaker 1: some clothes. You know, just as something simple and he
- 1:37:42Speaker 1: was playing on his switch. So I told him, hey,
- 1:37:45Speaker 1: and she said it twice, he didn't do it. I said, hey,
- 1:37:47Speaker 1: hit pause on it, and you know, get these clothes
- 1:37:50Speaker 1: put away. He says, there's no pause button. I'm like, wait,
- 1:37:53Speaker 1: you say, I know how this thing works. You hit
- 1:37:54Speaker 1: when you hit this button, it pauses. Yeah, but daddy,
- 1:37:57Speaker 1: it doesn't say pause. What's it matter? Just smart kids?
- 1:38:03Speaker 1: Smart kid kids. You can't be mad at that trying.
- 1:38:07Speaker 1: I'm guessing at that age, they're trying, they're trying, and
- 1:38:10Speaker 1: exactly exactly, it's like, Sarah, go ahead, Sara, you got
- 1:38:14Speaker 1: to Canadian's best here, go ahead. I think you know
- 1:38:17Speaker 1: it's it's said. Every age there's just like another another challenge,
- 1:38:22Speaker 1: and it just you're always one step behind, right because
- 1:38:26Speaker 1: you know, I have a four year old and an
- 1:38:28Speaker 1: eleven year old, and obviously like at every age, it's like, oh,
- 1:38:30Speaker 1: I have never parented that age before and dealt with
- 1:38:32Speaker 1: these challenges and keep in mind like you're not just
- 1:38:34Speaker 1: dealing with an eight year old, You're dealing with an
- 1:38:36Speaker 1: eight year old who's in quarantine in a you know,
- 1:38:41Speaker 1: completely unprecedented pandemic. So the things that are coming up.
- 1:38:45Speaker 1: I mean, I feel like, you know, uh, certainly in
- 1:38:49Speaker 1: our household, it's that you know, that balance of like
- 1:38:52Speaker 1: you're trying to set limits and also be compassionate for
- 1:38:55Speaker 1: what they're going through because it's certainly we did not
- 1:38:57Speaker 1: have to go through anything like this, and they're under
- 1:39:00Speaker 1: so many challenges to wrap their brains around what's happening
- 1:39:05Speaker 1: and trying not to absorb our stress over it. But
- 1:39:08Speaker 1: what came to light for me in this pandemic was,
- 1:39:11Speaker 1: like I thought I was like doing all of the
- 1:39:13Speaker 1: things that I thought were important in terms of making
- 1:39:16Speaker 1: my kids contribute in the house and doing things like
- 1:39:19Speaker 1: you're talking about, like can you fold this laundry? Can
- 1:39:21Speaker 1: you do that? But life is so busy And it
- 1:39:23Speaker 1: wasn't until it all of a sudden settled that I
- 1:39:25Speaker 1: was like, oh shit, we're actually not doing nearly as
- 1:39:28Speaker 1: much as I thought we were of that. So we
- 1:39:30Speaker 1: made that a huge priority at the being in the pandemic.
- 1:39:32Speaker 1: Who got chore charts And if you don't, like you know,
- 1:39:34Speaker 1: there's there's laundry and vacuum and you know, dishes and whatever,
- 1:39:38Speaker 1: and if you don't do your chore, then you have
- 1:39:41Speaker 1: to swap out. You could someone else can pick your
- 1:39:44Speaker 1: chore the next time and make you do the bad chore,
- 1:39:45Speaker 1: which take compos It's like a reality show. I like that.
- 1:39:49Speaker 1: It's like a reality And yeah, we just sort of
- 1:39:51Speaker 1: had ship get real, like you know we I think
- 1:39:54Speaker 1: I thought I was saying no more than I was,
- 1:39:57Speaker 1: and I realized I have to do that more, which
- 1:39:59Speaker 1: is not always been my stronge. How do you right,
- 1:40:01Speaker 1: how do you feel about to say? That's a good question.
- 1:40:03Speaker 1: How do you feel about saying no? Like I have
- 1:40:05Speaker 1: a I don't I don't mind saying no, but I
- 1:40:08Speaker 1: have a problem saying no, you know what I mean?
- 1:40:10Speaker 1: Like I have an issue with being like, you can't
- 1:40:13Speaker 1: do that. I you know, it's interesting. I really thought
- 1:40:18Speaker 1: I was great. I thought it was good at it.
- 1:40:19Speaker 1: I thought I actually did that until I realized that
- 1:40:21Speaker 1: I didn't. And so that's been a huge thing. Is
- 1:40:23Speaker 1: like more boundaries more no, I think, you know, obviously
- 1:40:27Speaker 1: as they get bigger and bigger. Actually that's not true
- 1:40:29Speaker 1: when they're a little too. Structure is so key and
- 1:40:32Speaker 1: so important and feeling the you know, the walls and
- 1:40:36Speaker 1: the boundaries because they're always looking for them. And if
- 1:40:38Speaker 1: you don't put them there, then they're gonna just test
- 1:40:41Speaker 1: test test. Okay, well what if I can never find
- 1:40:43Speaker 1: the pause button on the switch, And yeah, yeah, you
- 1:40:49Speaker 1: got you gotta you gotta take charge, man, Like, put
- 1:40:53Speaker 1: the game away. That's what we're learning, that's what you know.
- 1:40:56Speaker 1: We put the game away for a bit, and because
- 1:40:59Speaker 1: we were realizing that he was doing things for the game,
- 1:41:02Speaker 1: like everything he was doing was just so he could
- 1:41:05Speaker 1: play the game, and it was like, uh, we're gonna
- 1:41:07Speaker 1: take the game completely away. So now everything you're doing
- 1:41:10Speaker 1: is because you're doing it. And then every now and
- 1:41:12Speaker 1: then we'll let him play and it's so much more rewarding.
- 1:41:15Speaker 1: And then I don't have a hard time being like,
- 1:41:17Speaker 1: get off the game, because he knows. If he says,
- 1:41:19Speaker 1: hold one second, can I get five minutes? Yeah, he's
- 1:41:22Speaker 1: never gonna play that shit again. It's always a negotiation.
- 1:41:26Speaker 1: There's never like it's always like, well how about okay,
- 1:41:28Speaker 1: ten more minutes, Kay, five more minutes. I'll I say,
- 1:41:31Speaker 1: I'll give you five more minutes, but then you can
- 1:41:33Speaker 1: never play again. Okay, I'm done. Good idea excellent? Um,
- 1:41:40Speaker 1: all right, well Jamie, you're welcome. Thanks guys, You're welcome.
- 1:41:43Speaker 1: You're welcome, You're well so welcome. You can stay on
- 1:41:46Speaker 1: because you're you're delightful and we love Texas. And I
- 1:41:49Speaker 1: think we're done, guys, we did the show. I want
- 1:41:51Speaker 1: to just say one last thing. Aloma was fire in
- 1:41:55Speaker 1: this episode. Yeah, five, you're shout out, shout out to
- 1:42:00Speaker 1: a lot of run and we we hear you fans,
- 1:42:03Speaker 1: and and you said it a lot and I see it.
- 1:42:05Speaker 1: And Joel is going to be on. We want to
- 1:42:06Speaker 1: book Bob Clindennen. We want to book Johnny Castle, and
- 1:42:11Speaker 1: we want to book right a lotta right sorry, and
- 1:42:14Speaker 1: we want to book Kennigan. Mhm. Maybe we do all
- 1:42:18Speaker 1: three of those uh favorite secondary characters on the same episode.
- 1:42:22Speaker 1: That could be fun. That would be a lot of fun. Actually, Um.
- 1:42:26Speaker 1: I also want to last shout out to Judy when
- 1:42:27Speaker 1: she said, um, you don't have that cookie. We're getting
- 1:42:30Speaker 1: a divorce right Yeah? And I like I like it
- 1:42:35Speaker 1: when um, when Kelso says to the guy who's given
- 1:42:40Speaker 1: all the money regarding his son who had the light
- 1:42:42Speaker 1: bulb up his ass, he goes, Lyle might be ready
- 1:42:45Speaker 1: for that rough sex talk you had with your other boys.
- 1:42:52Speaker 1: I just love the name. The name is Lyle. This
- 1:42:54Speaker 1: is a funny picturing. Oh and then and then Zach
- 1:42:58Speaker 1: jumping around with the movers on the bubble rout. Yeah,
- 1:43:00Speaker 1: I was gonna say this. You look like you were
- 1:43:04Speaker 1: lifting weights back then came back and you came back
- 1:43:07Speaker 1: into season four and shape you had getting some triceps there. Yeah,
- 1:43:11Speaker 1: I'm trying to get back there. I was there, I was.
- 1:43:13Speaker 1: I had some nice definition with you. See. I put
- 1:43:15Speaker 1: that that whatever that thing is the movers wear that
- 1:43:18Speaker 1: supports around your waist. I had that on. Look good,
- 1:43:23Speaker 1: I'd hit it all right. We love you everybody listening.

- 1:43:56Speaker 1: and like charades for Donald an accident kids weed not
- 1:43:59Speaker 1: even once again, Sarah. It's Firefly Lane. Firefly Lane. You
- 1:44:05Speaker 1: guys know what's gonna happen. You're gonna do the same
- 1:44:07Speaker 1: thing you do every night. You're gonna be scrolling through Netflix,
- 1:44:10Speaker 1: scrolling through all the other services going no, no, no,
- 1:44:13Speaker 1: and you're gonna think of my voice going firefly lane. No,
- 1:44:17Speaker 1: I'm gonna think of Sarah's voice going firefly lane. It's
- 1:44:20Speaker 1: way better, right, fly lane. Well, I'm gonna think of
- 1:44:23Speaker 1: Zach's voice actually now, because it was a little Sarah
- 1:44:27Speaker 1: Sarah self selling in a seductive voice for the list. Okay, sorry,
- 1:44:31Speaker 1: don't this ain't only fans say it in French, sir,
- 1:44:35Speaker 1: it ain't only fans yet Netflix. I will watch it, Sarah.
- 1:44:45Speaker 1: When you were um, do they ever ask you to
- 1:44:47Speaker 1: dub yourself in French? Because they should because you can
- 1:44:50Speaker 1: do it. They they they haven't and I have offered,
- 1:44:53Speaker 1: So I don't know if I should be offended. They
- 1:44:55Speaker 1: don't want to check. They don't want to check. I
- 1:45:01Speaker 1: need to. I need to find some way to make
- 1:45:03Speaker 1: sense of my life. That I went to school in
- 1:45:06Speaker 1: French all day from the age of five to eighteen,
- 1:45:09Speaker 1: and to German school after school. So I was like,
- 1:45:11Speaker 1: if you want, I'll do the dubbing in French and German.
- 1:45:14Speaker 1: And then they didn't call. What's the most you've had
- 1:45:17Speaker 1: to use your German or your French? Have you had
- 1:45:19Speaker 1: to be like other than like vacationing to places where
- 1:45:24Speaker 1: they speak said languages? What it's like, The most you've
- 1:45:27Speaker 1: ever had to use it? Had it come in Andy once.
- 1:45:30Speaker 1: I feel like I have to thank Bill Lawrence for that,
- 1:45:32Speaker 1: because I think the most I've had to use this
- 1:45:34Speaker 1: on scrubs, you know, Bill, Bill would write it into
- 1:45:36Speaker 1: the show and and I would have to what about
- 1:45:40Speaker 1: when you do? That? Was one of my God, that
- 1:45:45Speaker 1: was one of my That was one of my favorite
- 1:45:47Speaker 1: skits that we did. Uh skits that we did when
- 1:45:49Speaker 1: we were standing in front of the International Press junket
- 1:45:54Speaker 1: and Zach steps up and says, Sarah, you know we're
- 1:45:58Speaker 1: because we're international. We brought our own translator and he
- 1:46:02Speaker 1: brought you up. And so Zach says some very nice
- 1:46:04Speaker 1: things about the show and when we'll be coming on,
- 1:46:07Speaker 1: and he goes, now, Sarah, and then you said, and
- 1:46:09Speaker 1: then you said it in French, and then everybody applauds,
- 1:46:13Speaker 1: and then Zach goes, now German and then everybody laughs.
- 1:46:17Speaker 1: And then you did it in German and everybody applauds,
- 1:46:20Speaker 1: and then me being the dumb ass that I am.
- 1:46:23Speaker 1: I grabbed the microphone and said, and now an ebonics
- 1:46:26Speaker 1: for shizzle nizzle. I forgot about that, all right. No
- 1:46:39Speaker 1: Sarah's supposed to do it, Daniel, No, Daniel, no Sarah,
