- 0:09Speaker 1: What's up, everybody. Welcome into another edition of to Checko Daily.
- 0:13Speaker 1: It's Andrew decheco here, Eagles beat reporter for insidethebirds dot Com.
- 0:17Speaker 1: Hope you're enjoying all of our offseason content plenty On
- 0:20Speaker 1: the way, we'll get into draft NFL scouting combine and
- 0:25Speaker 1: I have some cool things in the works that I'm
- 0:28Speaker 1: working to get out to you guys. I'll have an
- 0:30Speaker 1: interview later this week with an Eagle that's been long
- 0:33Speaker 1: forgotten but has a really interesting story that I wanted
- 0:37Speaker 1: to focus on, So keep an eye out for that.
- 0:40Speaker 1: I think you're really going to enjoy. That should be
- 0:42Speaker 1: a walk down memory lane. I'm sure many of you
- 0:44Speaker 1: will remember this story once you hear it, and to
- 0:47Speaker 1: hear it from the man himself, I think will really
- 0:50Speaker 1: be cool and offer some unique perspective. But today I
- 0:53Speaker 1: wanted to talk a little bit about the Eagles twenty
- 0:56Speaker 1: twenty five draft class, go through it and then maybe
- 1:00Speaker 1: assess what their roles should be like in twenty twenty
- 1:04Speaker 1: six and maybe projected a little bit. But we'll start
- 1:07Speaker 1: with Jahad Campbell, who the Eagles drafted with the thirty
- 1:09Speaker 1: first overall pick. He's played in seventeen games started ten
- 1:14Speaker 1: had eighty tackles, a force, fumble, a fumble recovery. I
- 1:17Speaker 1: thought he did a really solid job. It was had
- 1:21Speaker 1: nothing to do with him, but Nikobe Dean coming back
- 1:25Speaker 1: sort of rendered him a reserve and he didn't play
- 1:27Speaker 1: as much. But it wasn't because he wasn't performing well,
- 1:31Speaker 1: because I believe that he was. You see the athleticism,
- 1:34Speaker 1: his ability to cover sideline the sideline, he really showed
- 1:38Speaker 1: off his coverage chops at different points in the season.
- 1:41Speaker 1: He was putting some difficult situations. I go back to
- 1:44Speaker 1: the Buccaneers game on that wheel route that turned the
- 1:47Speaker 1: tides a little bit, but he also made another pick
- 1:50Speaker 1: play in that game. This is someone that I think
- 1:52Speaker 1: is going to continue to get better. I'd like to
- 1:54Speaker 1: see him maybe add a little bit more size to
- 1:56Speaker 1: his frame to be able to play that Nikobe Dean
- 2:00Speaker 1: physical style downhill and compliment what they have there in
- 2:04Speaker 1: Zach Bonn in twenty twenty six. But this is a
- 2:08Speaker 1: very smart football player. He was professional throughout the duration
- 2:11Speaker 1: of the season, never complained about his playing time and
- 2:16Speaker 1: sulked hung his head. He was the consummate professional and
- 2:19Speaker 1: a really good guy. In the locker room. So I
- 2:22Speaker 1: think Jahid Campbell projects as a high end starter. They
- 2:26Speaker 1: draft him in the first round. Of course, you would
- 2:28Speaker 1: want that if you're the Eagles. But I saw a
- 2:30Speaker 1: lot of really encouraging signs from Campbell last season, and
- 2:34Speaker 1: I think in year two you're going to see him
- 2:36Speaker 1: make a large leap forward. He gives the Eagles such
- 2:39Speaker 1: athleticism at that position, complimenting Zach Bonn that it's kind
- 2:45Speaker 1: of hard to find, and he's a longer player. I
- 2:47Speaker 1: think he can use his length to affect throwing windows.
- 2:51Speaker 1: He should be an active player at that second level
- 2:54Speaker 1: next season. And that's really the way that that position
- 2:57Speaker 1: is trending.
- 2:58Speaker 2: In the modern era.
- 2:59Speaker 1: You have to be able to be athletic and move
- 3:01Speaker 1: well and cover track running backs out of the backfield
- 3:04Speaker 1: and all those things. And I do believe that Jahid
- 3:07Speaker 1: Campbell has proven that he can do that, and I
- 3:09Speaker 1: think you're gonna see him do it at a pretty
- 3:10Speaker 1: high level in twenty twenty six. With that being said,
- 3:14Speaker 1: I say that because I don't believe that Nikobe Dean
- 3:16Speaker 1: will be coming back. I think he should have plenty
- 3:18Speaker 1: of suitors at twenty.
- 3:19Speaker 2: Five years old. His body of work speaks for itself.
- 3:22Speaker 1: Sure there's the injury concerns, but the Eagles are not
- 3:25Speaker 1: going to be able to afford everybody. As much as
- 3:27Speaker 1: they love Nakobe Dean, he's beloved in the city. He
- 3:31Speaker 1: was the defensive leader. But it's a luxury to have
- 3:36Speaker 1: three starting caliber off ball linebackers, not a necessity. And
- 3:40Speaker 1: you have to make some tough business decisions in the offseason,
- 3:43Speaker 1: and I think Nikobe Dean will likely.
- 3:45Speaker 2: Be one of them.
- 3:47Speaker 1: Sure things can change. The Eagles really like them, they
- 3:49Speaker 1: love them, but it's really hard to foresee a path
- 3:53Speaker 1: for him to return, knowing that they drafted Jahid Campbell
- 3:56Speaker 1: in the first round.
- 3:57Speaker 2: You have to get him on the field and allow
- 3:59Speaker 2: him to really flourish.
- 4:01Speaker 1: And so I think that Campbell has a huge future
- 4:05Speaker 1: here and I kind of project him as being a
- 4:08Speaker 1: volume based starter. So I think will be one of
- 4:11Speaker 1: those guys who doesn't come off the field all that
- 4:12Speaker 1: much next season, along with Zach Bonn, along with Quinnon, Mitchell,
- 4:18Speaker 1: and Cooper Degen, those players rarely came off the field
- 4:21Speaker 1: last year. Red Blankenship was another, but I still have
- 4:25Speaker 1: questions as to whether or not he would be a
- 4:28Speaker 1: viable solution, or if it would make sense to bring
- 4:32Speaker 1: him back, or might there be other options who would
- 4:35Speaker 1: be a better fit.
- 4:37Speaker 2: Time will tell there.
- 4:38Speaker 1: Drew mccooba taking sixty fourth overall, played eleven games, ten starts,
- 4:44Speaker 1: two interceptions on the season. I think that he did
- 4:48Speaker 1: a nice job after the first month or two of
- 4:53Speaker 1: the season, where there was some coverage busts, some communication breakdown,
- 4:58Speaker 1: just typical of a rookie player, and a lot was
- 5:02Speaker 1: placed on his shoulders being a second rounder, knowing that
- 5:05Speaker 1: he was going to start, but also that there's a
- 5:07Speaker 1: lot of responsibilities placed on the shoulders of safeties in
- 5:11Speaker 1: a Fic Fangio defense, and I think that early on
- 5:14Speaker 1: there was a little bit of turbulence, but he settled
- 5:16Speaker 1: in nicely. As the season grew on, he really took
- 5:20Speaker 1: to the coaching of safeties coach Joe Casper, who will
- 5:22Speaker 1: now be coaching the defensive back group. That should help
- 5:26Speaker 1: from a continuity perspective. The one I guess question would
- 5:30Speaker 1: be his recovery process because he was playing well and
- 5:34Speaker 1: then later in the season late November, he suffers the
- 5:36Speaker 1: fractured ankle against the Cowboys and missed the remainder of
- 5:40Speaker 1: the season. He spoke at Locker clean out that he's
- 5:45Speaker 1: expecting to be back for spring practices, so we'll see
- 5:48Speaker 1: how that timeline looks. But this is a super athletic player.
- 5:52Speaker 1: When he came out in the draft, he was one
- 5:53Speaker 1: of my top safeties. I think he was my third
- 5:55Speaker 1: rated safety coming out. You're talking about someone with a
- 5:59Speaker 1: high level football intelligence that I think is always going
- 6:02Speaker 1: to grow and develop within the system. Now, you would
- 6:05Speaker 1: like to see him add some weight to his frame.
- 6:08Speaker 2: He's very slight of build.
- 6:10Speaker 1: For that position, and he does throw his body around
- 6:13Speaker 1: quite a bit, so you'll worry about the injuries there.
- 6:15Speaker 1: Maybe adding another five pounds or getting into the weight
- 6:19Speaker 1: room a little bit should help him. But he covers
- 6:21Speaker 1: a lot of ground and I think that he can
- 6:24Speaker 1: really settle in as a dynamic coverage player on the
- 6:28Speaker 1: back end. And Vic Vangio could probably do some things
- 6:31Speaker 1: in terms of turning him loose after the quarterback. He
- 6:34Speaker 1: had a half sack last year. He can be active
- 6:38Speaker 1: around the line of scrimmage. He had some tackles for loss.
- 6:40Speaker 1: I think if you turn him loose, kind of like
- 6:42Speaker 1: what you saw the Seahawks do with Devin Witherspoon. He
- 6:45Speaker 1: can be somebody that can be effective in getting after
- 6:48Speaker 1: the quarterback. I know that there's the injury concerns coming
- 6:53Speaker 1: into it, but I think all things being equal, you
- 6:55Speaker 1: should have very high expectations and feel pretty good about
- 6:59Speaker 1: where Drew mccouba will be going into the twenty twenty
- 7:02Speaker 1: sixth season. Who aligns opposite him, Well, we're going to
- 7:05Speaker 1: have to find that out, but he gives you another
- 7:07Speaker 1: building block on a youth infused secondary. Ty Robinson is
- 7:12Speaker 1: the next player on this list. Drafted in the fourth round,
- 7:16Speaker 1: the one hundred and eleventh overall pick, played in eleven games,
- 7:20Speaker 1: had just five tackles. I thought his season was a
- 7:22Speaker 1: little underwhelming, actually considerably underwhelming, given his collegiate experience. He
- 7:28Speaker 1: was a five year player there at Nebraska, and he
- 7:31Speaker 1: just didn't have that training camp that you'd expect from
- 7:34Speaker 1: someone with so much seasoning at the previous level.
- 7:37Speaker 2: He struggled defeating.
- 7:39Speaker 1: Blocks, he was playing a little bit high, didn't generate
- 7:42Speaker 1: a lot of penetration. And I think for every player
- 7:45Speaker 1: it's unique in that success isn't instantaneous.
- 7:49Speaker 2: Sometimes it takes.
- 7:50Speaker 1: A little while for a player to find their way
- 7:53Speaker 1: to take to coaching, and Clint Hurt the fantastic defensive
- 7:57Speaker 1: line coach. He coaches hard, he's demanded, and they weren't
- 8:01Speaker 1: simply going to put Ty Robinson out there despite him
- 8:03Speaker 1: being a fourth round pick if they didn't feel he.
- 8:05Speaker 2: Was the best option.
- 8:07Speaker 1: And Byron Young performed better than he did frankly in
- 8:10Speaker 1: training camp and in the preseason and in the regular
- 8:13Speaker 1: season as well. I thought he answered the bell when
- 8:16Speaker 1: he was called upon, whereas Ty Robinson sort of disappeared.
- 8:20Speaker 1: But the learning curve and growing pains are different for
- 8:23Speaker 1: every player. He's an older he was an older rookie,
- 8:26Speaker 1: so you would like to see him get off to
- 8:28Speaker 1: a faster start. And I don't view his role going
- 8:31Speaker 1: into twenty twenty six all that different from last season.
- 8:34Speaker 1: I think will be a fourth defensive tackle at best.
- 8:38Speaker 1: You still have Jyalen Carter, Jordan Davis, Moro, Jomo, Byron
- 8:42Speaker 1: Young will be back, and I think Byron Young is
- 8:44Speaker 1: a pretty solid football player. He was drafted in the
- 8:46Speaker 1: third round by the Raiders. Don't forget, and so it's
- 8:50Speaker 1: hard for me to sit here and tell you that
- 8:53Speaker 1: there's a pathway to playing time for Ty Robinson and
- 8:56Speaker 1: that he's going to take this huge leap forward because
- 8:59Speaker 1: we haven't seen it yet. I'll get a better sense
- 9:01Speaker 1: in training camp. But based off of training camp and
- 9:04Speaker 1: the preseason and the regular season, there's area areas of
- 9:08Speaker 1: his game that I think need improving. And he was
- 9:11Speaker 1: a player oddly enough that I had gotten more questions about,
- 9:14Speaker 1: perhaps more than any other player, because there is the intrigue,
- 9:17Speaker 1: the vanilla guerrilla, all those things. He was a dominant
- 9:20Speaker 1: college player, but thus far it didn't translate. And you
- 9:26Speaker 1: can't fault the Eagles for not giving him opportunities and
- 9:29Speaker 1: giving him snaps, because if you're not showing it on
- 9:31Speaker 1: the practice field, you don't warrant those opportunities. So big
- 9:37Speaker 1: offseason for Ty Robinson. You would like to see him
- 9:39Speaker 1: take a step forward there and be a player that
- 9:44Speaker 1: ideally you would like to see him leap frog Byron
- 9:47Speaker 1: Young in his second season, But until we see it,
- 9:50Speaker 1: it's hard for me to tell you that that's actually realistic.
- 9:53Speaker 2: But that's Ty Robinson.
- 9:55Speaker 1: Then you have Mac McWilliams, who of course was my
- 9:57Speaker 1: rookie diary subject last season, enjoyed the conversations very much.
- 10:01Speaker 1: He was drafted in the fifth round, taking one hundred
- 10:04Speaker 1: and forty fifth overall, played in five games, had just
- 10:07Speaker 1: one tackle. This was a player that early on in
- 10:09Speaker 1: training camp was generating a little bit of buzz. He
- 10:12Speaker 1: was getting some looks at nickel and making some plays
- 10:16Speaker 1: on the football. Vic Fangio spoke relatively glowing about him,
- 10:20Speaker 1: and it's all relative because Vicfanja doesn't offer a ringing
- 10:23Speaker 1: endorsements for really anyone, but he was sort of complimentary
- 10:28Speaker 1: in terms of mc mcwilliam's skill set and his sort
- 10:32Speaker 1: of initial impressions of him, I guess is fair to say.
- 10:36Speaker 1: But fast forward to the regular season, and I should
- 10:39Speaker 1: also mention that cmcwilliams cross train at outside cornerback as well,
- 10:44Speaker 1: especially when the Eagles were sort of toggling between Keey
- 10:47Speaker 1: Ringo and Dori Jackson. Jackryan Bennett came in there. But
- 10:51Speaker 1: mac McWilliams I thought had a really solid summer. There
- 10:53Speaker 1: was a time there where he missed some a few
- 10:55Speaker 1: days of practice with a quad injury I believe it was,
- 10:58Speaker 1: and then the regular season and he was sort of
- 11:02Speaker 1: a non entity. He wasn't someone who they could count
- 11:05Speaker 1: on to contribute on special teams. Another player whose slight
- 11:08Speaker 1: of build. They gave him a shot as a gunner
- 11:10Speaker 1: against the Buccaneers and that didn't go particularly well. There
- 11:13Speaker 1: was one play that I can recall where he really
- 11:15Speaker 1: couldn't disengage and separate and they ended up going with
- 11:19Speaker 1: some other players while keithy Ringo was taking on a
- 11:21Speaker 1: more prominent role on defense. And so you look at
- 11:24Speaker 1: the cornerback situation. They had Michael Carter, who they acquired
- 11:27Speaker 1: the trade deadline. You have Cooper Degene who can play
- 11:30Speaker 1: nickel and play it very well. Needless to say, they
- 11:34Speaker 1: just had a crowded house of corners and he didn't
- 11:36Speaker 1: do enough. I mean, the evidence is there. He obviously
- 11:40Speaker 1: didn't do enough behind the scenes or in practice to
- 11:43Speaker 1: leap frog any player. And I think even to a degree,
- 11:47Speaker 1: to a lesser degree, maybe Brandon Johnson on the practice
- 11:50Speaker 1: squad was developing a little bit faster. He was a
- 11:52Speaker 1: little bit more ahead of schedule, I think than Mack was,
- 11:55Speaker 1: and he got elevated and was actually playing in those
- 11:58Speaker 1: games later in the season. So this is going to
- 12:01Speaker 1: be a big offseason for mac McWilliams. He's gonna have
- 12:03Speaker 1: to battle to make the roster. So there's gonna be
- 12:07Speaker 1: a lot of competition. They're probably going to add another
- 12:09Speaker 1: corner in the draft, they may sign one in free agency.
- 12:12Speaker 1: It's gonna get more crowded. But I think Mac being
- 12:15Speaker 1: in the building for a year, he spent a lot
- 12:17Speaker 1: of time with cornerbacks coach Roy Anderson. They will get
- 12:20Speaker 1: together about six thirty every morning and go over film
- 12:24Speaker 1: and prepare for the week. He prepares very diligently, as
- 12:27Speaker 1: you can tell from the interviews that he and I
- 12:30Speaker 1: had throughout the season. But nothing is going to be
- 12:33Speaker 1: assured for him. But I think best case scenario, Mac
- 12:35Speaker 1: McWilliams is a reserve nickel defender and maybe give you
- 12:40Speaker 1: some outside corner versatility. I'm not sure how much realistically,
- 12:44Speaker 1: kind of like Eli Rix, he's going to be able
- 12:46Speaker 1: to help you on special teams because of his frame,
- 12:48Speaker 1: because of the lack of experience there. But that's kind
- 12:52Speaker 1: of the way that I'm viewing his twenty twenty six season.
- 12:55Speaker 1: In the coming month, he's gonna have to battle to
- 12:57Speaker 1: make the roster. Then we have Smile Almonden, the linebacker
- 13:01Speaker 1: out of Georgia who was taken also in the fifth
- 13:04Speaker 1: round one hundred and sixty one overall, appeared in all
- 13:07Speaker 1: seventeen games, had eleven tackles, had a really good training camp.
- 13:11Speaker 1: I think that he really opened some eyes as to
- 13:15Speaker 1: what he can do from a coverage standpoint. He was
- 13:18Speaker 1: physical coming downhill. Isn't the biggest guy in the world,
- 13:21Speaker 1: but you can see that his instincts and experience playing
- 13:24Speaker 1: at the highest level at Georgia really served him well.
- 13:27Speaker 1: In training camp, the moment wasn't too big for him.
- 13:29Speaker 1: He had some really big time plays and enough so
- 13:33Speaker 1: that I thought that he could potentially factor into the
- 13:36Speaker 1: regular season. Now, the Eagles don't typically rotate at linebacker,
- 13:40Speaker 1: and they already had the Kobe Dean in the pipeline
- 13:43Speaker 1: to come back, so it probably in hindsight wasn't all
- 13:45Speaker 1: that realistic. But he played well enough to kind of
- 13:48Speaker 1: give you a perspective here that it wouldn't have shocked
- 13:51Speaker 1: me if he got some opportunities on defense.
- 13:53Speaker 2: As it were, he ended up.
- 13:55Speaker 1: Settling into a special teams role, and he played special
- 13:59Speaker 1: teams at george but he wasn't the dominant force earlier
- 14:03Speaker 1: in the season, and then later in the year he
- 14:06Speaker 1: started racking up some tackles. He started blowing up some
- 14:08Speaker 1: players on kick return and made some nice some nice
- 14:12Speaker 1: tackles and seemed to really settle into that role. Again,
- 14:15Speaker 1: another young, cost effective player that I think will give
- 14:19Speaker 1: them some depth behind Johad Campbell and Zach Bond. You
- 14:24Speaker 1: also have Jeremiah Trotter Junior who's there who's gonna be
- 14:27Speaker 1: ahead of Smile mind than I would imagine. But again,
- 14:30Speaker 1: this is someone who is shaping up to be a
- 14:33Speaker 1: dependable backup and maybe someone who can battle or contend
- 14:39Speaker 1: for some kind of playing time down the line.
- 14:41Speaker 2: But I don't think that.
- 14:42Speaker 1: There's an obvious pathway to him being on that being
- 14:46Speaker 1: into the mix, because we already mentioned how crowded that
- 14:49Speaker 1: linebacker position is. But you should be optimistic to have
- 14:52Speaker 1: him on the roster knowing that he has shown signs
- 14:55Speaker 1: of promise, and it again that it wouldn't they wouldn't
- 15:00Speaker 1: totally surprised me if he finds a way to contribute
- 15:03Speaker 1: in some way on defense.
- 15:06Speaker 2: In twenty twenty six.
- 15:08Speaker 1: Drew Kendall the backup offensive lineman. He was drafted in
- 15:12Speaker 1: the fifth round, taking one hundred and sixty eighth overall.
- 15:15Speaker 1: Appeared in seven games, started one. I think in training
- 15:20Speaker 1: camp I was hoping to see a little bit more
- 15:22Speaker 1: from him, but Brett Toath ended up settling into that
- 15:26Speaker 1: backup center role. I think Kendall later in the year
- 15:30Speaker 1: was a player that you start to stack those practices,
- 15:34Speaker 1: you know, get a sense for those you know for
- 15:37Speaker 1: the day to day grind and being in those meetings,
- 15:40Speaker 1: and we talk about how it can be sometimes a
- 15:43Speaker 1: slow burn for some rookies. Well, Drew Kendall was somebody
- 15:46Speaker 1: that I had a high opinion of in the draft.
- 15:50Speaker 1: I liked his tape from Boston College. Thought it was
- 15:53Speaker 1: the eagles best of the fifth round picks. And I
- 15:56Speaker 1: think his style of play and his build really lends
- 16:00Speaker 1: itself favorably to the style of offense that or the
- 16:04Speaker 1: style of offensive line men. I should say that the
- 16:08Speaker 1: Eagles might prefer under Sean Mannion and I'm curious to
- 16:12Speaker 1: see if he's able to take that leap forward. And
- 16:15Speaker 1: the one start that he had in the season finale,
- 16:17Speaker 1: I thought he did some good things and the communications
- 16:22Speaker 1: seemed to be all right. He got out to the
- 16:24Speaker 1: second level and really I think should have I guess,
- 16:31Speaker 1: provided some signs of encouragement for the coaching staff. Obviously
- 16:35Speaker 1: he was learning under the best and Jeff Stoutlet now
- 16:38Speaker 1: he'll have Chris Cooper to learn under. But I think
- 16:40Speaker 1: Drew Kendall, and I'm going to write a story about
- 16:42Speaker 1: this for Inside the Birds dot Com. Might he's going
- 16:46Speaker 1: to classify under some of the younger Eagles that I
- 16:49Speaker 1: believe will benefit most from the shift in offensive philosophy.
- 16:56Speaker 1: So I think he's going to settle in to be
- 16:58Speaker 1: the backup center next season. Can give you some guard versatility,
- 17:01Speaker 1: which is valuable. And so Drew Kendall is somebody that
- 17:05Speaker 1: you should be jotting down because he is an intriguing prospect.
- 17:09Speaker 3: Hey, it's that time of the year that everyone's trying
- 17:12Speaker 3: to clean up their habits and that includes me. Honestly,
- 17:15Speaker 3: having one less drink is never felt easier. Instead of
- 17:18Speaker 3: pouring a cocktail, I just reach for souls out of
- 17:21Speaker 3: office drinks. It's the same relaxing vibe, but zero alcohol,
- 17:25Speaker 3: zero hangover. I still wake up feeling like a functional adult.
- 17:29Speaker 3: I can get to the gym, I can do whatever
- 17:31Speaker 3: I have to do throughout the day without feeling worn
- 17:34Speaker 3: down or dragged down.
- 17:35Speaker 4: That alcohol can make you feel soul. What I appreciate
- 17:38Speaker 4: about them is it makes feeling good simple with their
- 17:41Speaker 4: delicious HEMP drived, CBD and THC products with precise dosing,
- 17:46Speaker 4: clean ingredients and formulations designed for predictable feel good effects.
- 17:50Speaker 4: Soul is the alcohol alternative that puts you in control
- 17:54Speaker 4: of your mood. You gotta try their best selling out

- 20:26Speaker 5: great prices, and an experience made for Philly fans. Twenty
- 20:29Speaker 5: one and up.
- 20:32Speaker 1: Kyle McCord, the quarterback drafted in the sixth round out
- 20:36Speaker 1: of Syracuse. He didn't appear in any regular season game.
- 20:40Speaker 1: He spent the twenty twenty five season on the Eagles
- 20:42Speaker 1: practice squad, and then he signed a reserve futures deal
- 20:46Speaker 1: with the Green Bay Packers, so he's not even a
- 20:48Speaker 1: part of the organization anymore. It was hard to see
- 20:52Speaker 1: a realistic avenue for him to make the Eagles fifty three.
- 20:55Speaker 1: Didn't have a particularly strong summer and certainly didn't help
- 20:59Speaker 1: himself in the preseas.
- 21:00Speaker 2: But we'll see.
- 21:01Speaker 1: Sometimes a change of scenery can serve him well, and
- 21:03Speaker 1: we'll see what Kyle mccorr can do for the Green
- 21:06Speaker 1: Bay Packers. Then you have Miles Hinton, who was another
- 21:08Speaker 1: six round pick. When the fifty three man roster came out,
- 21:13Speaker 1: he was placed on injured reserve. I think it was
- 21:15Speaker 1: a back injury that we.
- 21:17Speaker 2: Learned later on.
- 21:18Speaker 1: He had his twenty one day practice window opened and
- 21:21Speaker 1: didn't factor into the equation. The window closed and he
- 21:25Speaker 1: was sort of shut down for the regular season and
- 21:28Speaker 1: was on the injury reserve for the duration of the year.
- 21:31Speaker 1: But I think that he's another player you talk about
- 21:34Speaker 1: size and being I don't think that there's enough focus
- 21:39Speaker 1: on how much it means to be in the building
- 21:42Speaker 1: for a year, to sit in meeting rooms and be
- 21:44Speaker 1: on the practice field while he was doing the recovery
- 21:47Speaker 1: portion of it. But being in the meeting room with
- 21:49Speaker 1: Jeff Stoutland and picking the brain of some of those
- 21:53Speaker 1: just veteran laden offensive linemen that have seen a lot
- 21:55Speaker 1: of football, that have played the game at the highest level.
- 21:59Speaker 1: All the accolades could want to be able to be
- 22:01Speaker 1: in their presence and pick their brain and absorb the
- 22:04Speaker 1: knowledge there, I think is going to give him a
- 22:07Speaker 1: leg up over whomever they draft.
- 22:10Speaker 2: Whether it's a Day two or Day three.
- 22:12Speaker 1: I think that he also played football at Michigan, so
- 22:15Speaker 1: it's a top tier college program. I think that Miles
- 22:18Speaker 1: Hinton's another player that intrigued me when they drafted him,
- 22:22Speaker 1: and certainly not more so now going into year two.
- 22:27Speaker 1: This player the next player I'm even more fascinated with,
- 22:31Speaker 1: and that's Cameron Williams, the Eagles drafted in the sixth round.
- 22:34Speaker 1: Another player in the sixth round. He played in one
- 22:37Speaker 1: game the season finale. He played fifty one snaps. Now,
- 22:40Speaker 1: this is a player who didn't have a whole lot
- 22:43Speaker 1: of experience coming out of Texas. If he had waited
- 22:46Speaker 1: and came out this year in the draft, he likely
- 22:49Speaker 1: would have been a Day two selection, I think is fair.
- 22:53Speaker 1: But he came into the league as a raw player,
- 22:56Speaker 1: but one that has a lot of intriguing traits and
- 22:59Speaker 1: characteristics that I think Jeff Staltlin proved that he did
- 23:02Speaker 1: a nice job molding behind the scenes, because when he
- 23:06Speaker 1: had to play, I was expecting to see a player
- 23:10Speaker 1: really going through some growing pains in his first NFL action,
- 23:14Speaker 1: but instead, I think he left a lot of people
- 23:18Speaker 1: wondering what he could potentially.
- 23:19Speaker 2: Be in the future, and I don't think that's hyperbole.
- 23:22Speaker 1: I think he proved that he's ahead of schedule, which
- 23:25Speaker 1: should leave a lot of room for optimism going into
- 23:28Speaker 1: this year. Again, Jeff Stotlin's not there. We'll see what
- 23:31Speaker 1: Chris Cooper can do in molding Cameron Williams. But this
- 23:35Speaker 1: is a player that from my point of view, he's
- 23:38Speaker 1: ahead of schedule. I think he could certainly become a
- 23:41Speaker 1: top backup at tackle if they don't bring back Fred Johnson,
- 23:44Speaker 1: let's say. But he also spent some time on injury
- 23:47Speaker 1: reserve with a shoulder injury. He had his twenty one
- 23:50Speaker 1: day practice window open, and then he was ultimately activated
- 23:54Speaker 1: to the fifty three in time to play in that
- 23:56Speaker 1: regular season finale, which I think that experience is going
- 23:59Speaker 1: to prove to be in valuable moving forward. Rounding things out,
- 24:04Speaker 1: Antoine Powell Ryland, who was an edge rusher that they
- 24:07Speaker 1: drafted out of Virginia Tech.
- 24:09Speaker 2: Another six round pick.
- 24:11Speaker 1: He did almost nothing in training camp to catch the
- 24:14Speaker 1: eye of the coaching staff. He rarely made my training
- 24:18Speaker 1: camp notes because he didn't get a lot of reps.
- 24:20Speaker 1: For one, but when he was out there, it looked
- 24:23Speaker 1: like a player that was going to take a little
- 24:24Speaker 1: bit of time to marinate, and that should really be
- 24:26Speaker 1: expected from a Day three pick, although he was remarkably
- 24:29Speaker 1: productive at Virginia Tech.
- 24:32Speaker 2: Again we talk about Ty Robinson.
- 24:34Speaker 1: This is another player that I got a ton of
- 24:35Speaker 1: questions about, but it was hard for me to really
- 24:38Speaker 1: give any concrete examples of him making plays or trending
- 24:43Speaker 1: in the right direction because there wasn't a lot to
- 24:47Speaker 1: really pull from. But he spent some time on the
- 24:51Speaker 1: practice squad, then ultimately he was released. He signed on
- 24:55Speaker 1: November tenth to the Bengals practice squad and then sign
- 24:58Speaker 1: a reserve futures deal with the Bengals, so he will
- 25:02Speaker 1: be part of their plans moving forward and at least
- 25:05Speaker 1: in the immediate future, and we'll see if he's able
- 25:07Speaker 1: to make the team. But I look at edge rusher,
- 25:09Speaker 1: by the way, as a position that the Eagles need
- 25:12Speaker 1: to address, whether that's Jalen Phillips, and that's obviously should
- 25:16Speaker 1: be front of mine for the Eagles if the financial
- 25:19Speaker 1: part of it works out, but they also need to
- 25:22Speaker 1: draft one and continue to build and fill out that room.
- 25:25Speaker 1: But just kind of walking through some of those twenty
- 25:29Speaker 1: twenty five draftees and seeing how they might project moving forward.
- 25:34Speaker 1: And that's kind of the way that I see it
- 25:35Speaker 1: right now. That's going to do it for this edition
- 25:37Speaker 1: of the Czecho Daily. I'm Andrew Tocheco, and I'll catch
- 25:41Speaker 1: you all on the next one.
