- 0:00[SPEAKER_01]: It's fuck ya Friday!
- 0:01[SPEAKER_01]: Fuck you!
- 0:03[SPEAKER_01]: Get ready for some wins!
- 0:28[SPEAKER_01]: and it's the antidote to fear.
- 0:31[SPEAKER_01]: Each week my guess will bring bold, executable, intrinsic, and targeted steps that you can use to put yourself first and be it until you see it.
- 0:40[SPEAKER_01]: It's a practice, not a perfect, let's get started.
- 0:48[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know.
- 0:49[SPEAKER_02]: Maybe I'm how are you?
- 0:50[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, my gosh.
- 0:51[SPEAKER_02]: It is February.
- 0:52[SPEAKER_02]: It is the day before a holiday that even if you think it's a hallmark holiday, maybe something we do in a hallmark is anymore.
- 0:57[SPEAKER_02]: But even if you think it's like a made up holiday, I do think it's the best time to tell all the people that you don't tell me you love all the time that you love them.
- 1:04[SPEAKER_02]: You know?
- 1:05[SPEAKER_02]: And also on this day, you realize how great pink and red look together.
- 1:09[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, they look so good together, right?
- 1:11[SPEAKER_02]: So these are episodes where you do some inspiration stuff.
- 1:13[SPEAKER_02]: We talk a little bit about the things that you're kicking ass at.
- 1:16[SPEAKER_02]: Get them on and try to get on with your weekend, super fast, super easy.
- 1:19[SPEAKER_02]: Hopefully, you find this fun, let me know.
- 1:21[SPEAKER_02]: You can also send your wins in for me to shut you out on a Friday's FIF episode to be at pod.com slash questions.
- 1:28[SPEAKER_02]: So you can leave questions, so we can leave wins, super fun.
- 1:30[SPEAKER_02]: We answer questions on Thursday's episodes.
- 1:33[SPEAKER_02]: So this inspired me.
- 1:34[SPEAKER_02]: Sabrina Gonzalez passed Tursky at 14.
- 1:38[SPEAKER_02]: She built an airplane in her garage, 14 years old, built an airplane.
- 1:41[SPEAKER_02]: Okay, pretty amazing.
- 1:43[SPEAKER_02]: At 16, she flew at a 21, she graduated MIT with a perfect 5.0 GPA.
- 1:48[SPEAKER_02]: Now, she saw the mysteries that stumped Einstein, Steven Hawking cited her, in research before he died, Jeff Bezos tried to recruit her, and she said no.
- 1:55[SPEAKER_02]: So, we'll put the link to this whole story, and the notes, and also after I read this, I discovered that the Wright Brothers had a sister who kicked the mass, and they wouldn't be where they were without her.
- 2:04[SPEAKER_02]: So just kind of amazing what women have done in that space so eventually she built this plane Then she learned how to fly it then she applied to MIT and they're like you're not good enough And so then she actually sent them a video of her flying her plane that she built and She just did some incredible stuff in her time there and also now she's studying really amazing
- 2:25[SPEAKER_02]: theories when quantum gravity with like how we're like what about small things and gravity and what about black holes and what are things and she's just like solving problems that like these people who are super famous for trying to have never done so really really cool thank you Sabrina for inspiring us all and I just want to say like on a shout out like the door was shut on her she was told like you're not enough and she didn't believe them and I think that that's super important I think
- 2:47[SPEAKER_02]: all of us need reminders that just because someone says no doesn't mean that it's a know and that you're not enough.
- 2:54[SPEAKER_02]: It sometimes means that you need to knock again and go hold on.
- 2:57[SPEAKER_02]: Let me show you again or it means you need to knock on a different door.
- 3:00[SPEAKER_02]: But if you really believe in who you are and what you do, that is all you need.
- 3:04[SPEAKER_02]: And I think it's really easy for us to look for external validation.
- 3:08[SPEAKER_02]: Of course, we want external validation.
- 3:09[SPEAKER_02]: But you've got to have the internal stuff too, so you can fight for yourself when you need to.
- 3:13[SPEAKER_02]: So way to go to bring it up.
- 3:14[SPEAKER_02]: All right.
- 3:15[SPEAKER_02]: So your win is from elevate grad from 5.0.
- 3:20[SPEAKER_02]: And she also is on my retreat the year performing Cambodia.
- 3:23[SPEAKER_02]: So she said the last year that was in 2024.
- 3:25[SPEAKER_02]: I went on Leslie's retreat to Cambodia during one of the workshops that hit me how miserable I was.
- 3:30[SPEAKER_02]: I was teaching out of company almost an hour away.
- 3:33[SPEAKER_02]: Seating five plus days a week as a lead instructor and master trainer.
- 3:36[SPEAKER_02]: I know time for myself was lucky if I got plies in more than once a week.
- 3:39[SPEAKER_02]: When I returned from Cambodia step down as a lead instructor and gave up all of my shifts except one, this is the first step in making big changes.
- 3:47[SPEAKER_02]: As a role to elevate the sort of few months after returning from Cambodia, once I sort of elevate, I realized that I no longer believed in that company's plies training, but I haven't been thinking about for a while.
- 3:55[SPEAKER_02]: I no longer wanted to teach it.
- 3:57[SPEAKER_02]: I know to find the
- 3:58[SPEAKER_02]: Corporate that I would not be returning as a trainer for them in the following year, but I need to finish out my current class.
- 4:04[SPEAKER_02]: I also started making time for me again.
- 4:06[SPEAKER_02]: I was practicing Ply's regularly during this past year.
- 4:08[SPEAKER_02]: I started working at two boutique studios which are much closer to home.
- 4:11[SPEAKER_02]: One is a classical studio.
- 4:12[SPEAKER_02]: I've been building my classes in private there.
- 4:14[SPEAKER_02]: There's so much more freedom at both studios and I can teach the way I want with no rules.
- 4:18[SPEAKER_02]: My current class of training sets one week of training left and I will be free of that commitment shortly.
- 4:22[SPEAKER_02]: So congratulations all your free.
- 4:24[SPEAKER_02]: Yesterday I gave my notice I believe in this company completely in January.
- 4:27[SPEAKER_02]: So we're one month out.
- 4:28[SPEAKER_02]: Way to go.
- 4:29[SPEAKER_02]: And we'll be giving up that last one last shift.
- 4:31[SPEAKER_02]: If I fill an incredible weight has been lifted and I'm ready to start the next chapter in 2020.
- 4:35[SPEAKER_02]: I'm grateful to Leslie for opening my eyes and the fact that I don't have to settle and don't need to work for a corporation that I don't believe in.
- 4:42[SPEAKER_02]: I'm excited to see what 2020's six plate brings.
- 4:45[SPEAKER_02]: If you're still reading, thank you.
- 4:46[SPEAKER_02]: I know this is long.
- 4:47[SPEAKER_02]: Laura, this one is amazing and also shout out to all the changes you've made.
- 4:51[SPEAKER_02]: I'm so glad you came to Cambodia because I think elevate would have been a different experience.
- 4:55[SPEAKER_02]: Had you not had that realization the month prior and you guys can all come to Cambodia and have it experience that Laura has had.
- 5:02[SPEAKER_02]: A lot of people have that and we've had people come back multiple times because it's kind of a nice little milestone to reflect on.
- 5:09[SPEAKER_02]: So anyways, I just want to say like
- 5:11[SPEAKER_02]: We all do this, right?
- 5:12[SPEAKER_02]: We all get into a position that we believe in and we loved and then over time, it no longer fits.
- 5:18[SPEAKER_02]: We go pair of jeans that you bought.
- 5:19[SPEAKER_02]: They no longer fit.
- 5:20[SPEAKER_02]: But then you're like, oh, I've had these jeans forever, or these jeans cost so much, or, you know, like, maybe these jeans off had again.
- 5:25[SPEAKER_02]: And we try to convince ourselves to like stay fitting those jeans instead of just going, you know, I could just buy a more comfortable pair of jeans, or I could just go seek out, or I could try something new on.
- 5:35[SPEAKER_02]: And I'm just so fucking stoked for you, Laura.
- 5:38[SPEAKER_02]: So yes, this one is long, but I love it.
- 5:41[SPEAKER_02]: will resonate with the wind.
- 5:42[SPEAKER_02]: There's so many winds in here.
- 5:43[SPEAKER_02]: Each milestone in there of you taking back more of your time and putting yourself out there to be in a new space, you know, those are humongous winds.
- 5:52[SPEAKER_02]: So shout out to everyone who, you know, turn something down this week or let go of some of this week.
- 5:55[SPEAKER_02]: Those are winds.
- 5:56[SPEAKER_02]: All right.
- 5:57[SPEAKER_02]: So now for a wind of mine, this is going to sound hilarious, but I think it's important to see that there's winds in everything.
- 6:05[SPEAKER_02]: I started a commitment, like you four of last year, that I was going to learn how to
- 6:12[SPEAKER_02]: I have a lot of hair.
- 6:13[SPEAKER_02]: I definitely screwed up along the way as my hair grew out.
- 6:17[SPEAKER_02]: I didn't like learn how to keep up with that and then it just got really long.
- 6:20[SPEAKER_02]: And I like it really long, but I like pretty much it only looks good at the day after I see my hair dresser and then it doesn't do anything at all.
- 6:28[SPEAKER_02]: And I told my hair dresser, I think it's time I learned how to use a blow dryer.
- 6:32[SPEAKER_02]: And I'm not gonna say I'm great at it.
- 6:34[SPEAKER_02]: And by the time you're hearing this, I probably won't be out of the four months I've been trying.
- 6:38[SPEAKER_02]: I don't blow dry my own hair one week of those four months cause it's gonna get my hair done.
- 6:42[SPEAKER_02]: So we're only at like 12 attempts, but it's really fun to be a beginner at something and try something new.
- 6:47[SPEAKER_02]: And even if it just gets my hair dry, you know, in the winter, that's great too.
- 6:52[SPEAKER_02]: So I don't have to become a professional blow dryer person, but I definitely can get goodish at blow dry my own hair.
- 7:00[SPEAKER_02]: And that's my win.
- 7:02[SPEAKER_02]: See, winds can be a lot of amazing, easy things.
- 7:05[SPEAKER_02]: Imagine, you're probably like, I had that wind when I was 12, great.
- 7:08[SPEAKER_02]: Did you still operate it?
- 7:09[SPEAKER_02]: Did you?
- 7:10[SPEAKER_02]: Um, alright, so your mantra for the weekend is my future is bright.
- 7:15[SPEAKER_02]: My future is bright.
- 7:18[SPEAKER_02]: My future is bright.
- 7:19[SPEAKER_02]: Yes, your future certainly is.
- 7:20[SPEAKER_02]: You're amazing.
- 7:21[SPEAKER_02]: Thank you so much.
- 7:21[SPEAKER_02]: We've interviewed you on Tuesday, every cap on Thursday and another FYI of on Friday.
- 7:24[SPEAKER_02]: So send you wins and second chat chat, have an amazing day.
- 7:28[SPEAKER_02]: And happy, I guess, gallon times.
- 7:31[SPEAKER_02]: But I count on how can I say, be it dead, be it in, be in times day.
