Mark Scioneaux: I see everybody. Mm, mm. Nelson and Jeff: It says waiting for Producer Nick: I'm I'm alive Nelson and Jeff: you. Mark Scioneaux: Eleven kicking. Nelson and Jeff: It's saying we're live. Yeah, it was not showing our faces. Let's see. I wonder Mark Scioneaux: I mean, I see everybody. Nelson and Jeff: if we No, like on YouTube can you see us live? wait. huh. There we go. Okay, yeah. Nick is alive. He's alive. I thought I could see the Producer Nick: I am live. Nelson and Jeff: chat. Why can't I see the chat? Or Riverside see let see the chat in the YouTube chat? It did before. Like the last time we did the lives when we did the rift track things. Mark Scioneaux: Yeah, I can I can see the chat. Chelsea Gonzalez says hello. Nelson and Jeff: Hey Chelsea. So you see it right now? Mark Scioneaux: Yep, I even replied. Nelson and Jeff: you know what? So there's this new invention on the sidebar that says chat. I wonder if that's where the chat is. So if you click it, then you can see it. Look at that. Producer Nick: There's this groundbreaking new book. Nelson and Jeff: Is this groundbreaking new but of course it doesn't. Hi, Haley. Mark Scioneaux: show off some of the art Nelson and Jeff: Who's Haley? Mark Scioneaux: some of the art I have in my in my office. Huh? Producer Nick: sweet. Mark Scioneaux: Actually for Nelson and Jeff: Okay. Mark Scioneaux: for this episode, got him Nelson and Jeff: Beautiful. Mark Scioneaux: right there. Nelson and Jeff: Yeah, for this episode I just picked this up at Spirit above Mark Scioneaux: Nice. Nelson and Jeff: Jeffrey's dome. And then I finally got a mug. The mugs they had before were just like Jason's face and they were shaped funny. You can't drink out of You hadn't seen them? Plus all the holes in it. Yeah, you know, the holes in the mass, it just just drips out. It's weird. Producer Nick: Yeah, that seems counterintuitive. Nelson and Jeff: So okay. Hello, Stacy. Hi Stacy. That is my cousin Stacy. Got it. So welcome into Average Home Theater. I am Nelson. I'm Jeffrey. We got at the bottom. Producer Nick: Mark Mark you go first. I'll go first. I'm producer Mark Scioneaux: guess. Producer Nick: Nick. How's it going everybody? Mark Scioneaux: Hey, I'm Mark Sino, everyone. Nelson and Jeff: All right. So everyone here knows who myself and producer Nick are, but our guests are Jeff from Red Dog Terrain and Mark C Sino. And Jeff, you can go ahead and introduce yourself first. Cool. And stuff like that. And then we'll let Mark go. Okay. I run a YouTube channel called Red Dog Terrain. I make D and War gaming, Warhammer Terrain. it's kind of a tutorial show where I just show you how to make all these miniatures and stuff. I also have another one with Jamie Ray, who we make up sequels to movies who don't have sequels, like Masters of the Universe. 'Cause that needed a sequel. 'Cause it absolutely needed one, yes. The original he's talking about, not the new one. Okay, Mark, go ahead and introduce yourself. Mark Scioneaux: Yeah, so so my name is Mark. I'm a author, an editor, and a screenwriter. author of numerous books. In fact, I I have my newest right here. May as well plug it plug it on the show. This is Thrill Me Kill Me. this is my first kind of real thriller thriller style novel. It's a splatter punk cross country serial killer book. So it's it's pretty it's pretty intense, but I'm proud of it. It's brand new. Nelson and Jeff: Cool. When did that come out, Mark? Mark Scioneaux: That came out literally a couple weeks ago. Nelson and Jeff: And where Producer Nick: Where? Nelson and Jeff: where can where can somebody purchase this book, Mark? Mark Scioneaux: Yeah, on Amazon, Producer Nick: That was my question. Mark Scioneaux: on my website and and in person whenever I'm at one of the many shows I'm gonna be doing. Nelson and Jeff: Excellent. Excellent. Okay. So what we're here for today, we are getting ready for the Peacock slash HBO Max TV series, Crystal Lake. And Mark Scioneaux: And Nelson and Jeff: I'm very excited for it. So I wanted to do a discussion on what our expectations are or what we don't want to see, etc. So I have a list of questions that I came up with, and we'll just kind Go around and answer them and discuss and you know. All right. Sounds good? Sure. Okay. I did research. You did some research, Producer Nick: Sounds like fun. Nelson and Jeff: research. I I looked on the internet at stuff. I watched the original movie a couple of hours ago and then I watched the trailer again. So I think I'm ready. All right. Okay. Y'all ready? Producer Nick: Yeah, I've seen the trailer Mark Scioneaux: Yeah. I I read a f I read a f I read a few Wikipedia articles. Producer Nick: trailer a couple of times and I saw the movies. I watched the series over the last six months in the past six months or so. I watched the series, so I'm not as knowledgeable as you guys, but I'm trying to catch up. Nelson and Jeff: Hey, Nick, I've seen all of them and I think I've seen two of them twice. So we're probably in the same boat. Producer Nick: All right, cool, excellent. We'll take our journey together. Nelson and Jeff: Okay, take our journey together. There we go. We'll hold hands in the cre you know the lake. So after watching the trailer, how how excited are you for the show? Jeffrey, you go first. I'm not gonna watch it. You're not gonna watch it? I don't have peacock. Okay, so you're gonna watch it. We're gonna make arrangements. okay. Okay. Mark Scioneaux: We're off to a good start. Nelson and Jeff: Don't ruin the show. sorry. So how excited are you? Like, Mark Scioneaux: Could just lie. Nelson and Jeff: does it look good to you? It does. It looks like you know it I've never watched a show that was about horror. Like, you know, there's there's a couple of them now, like, you know, there's American Horror Story and then there's the the Riverdale. And, you know, the closest I've ever seen to like a horror TV show was Buffy. So I am kind of interested to see how a show like that works. Mm-hmm. You know? And then also you're trying to, in a way, squeeze it into a continuity. So I'm I'm interested to see how this all works. Yeah. And then like You know, looking at the trailer, like there are several shots of people covered in blood and there's fighting and all this. And I'm like, how is that gonna work if you know mom has Pamela hasn't gone crazy yet and Jason's not there? Right. Yeah. Those are questions we'll hopefully we'll get to or answer or predict in a second. So, Mark, what's your first impressions? Mark Scioneaux: I'm relieved that I can be sexually attracted to Pamela Voorhees now Nelson and Jeff: Ha ha ha. Mark Scioneaux: and that it's not weird. Nelson and Jeff: Well, you do know she's only four years younger than Betsy Palmer was when she played her. Mark Scioneaux: That's unreal. Well, they were they Nelson and Jeff: Yeah, she's fifty one. Betsy Palmer was fifty four, fifty five, something like that. Yeah. Producer Nick: I'm relieved that you brought that up and I didn't have to. Mark Scioneaux: They looked older back then, that is for sure. But yeah. Nelson and Jeff: Well, back then, you know, once you hit once a woman hit thirty, they cut off all their hair and they look like an old lady for some reason. That was just the norm, you know. Mark Scioneaux: That's true. That's true. They wore like those sweaters. Linda Cartellini is well, you know what, a aside from her being obviously attractive, she is a a pretty fantastic actress. I've enjoyed her in all kinds of different things. what, I think A twenty four is the studio in charge of this. I'm a big Nelson and Jeff: Yeah. Mark Scioneaux: A twenty four fan. I I love a lot of their movies, so I mean I feel like they're gonna do it right. I have from from just kind of watching the trailers, not trying to see too much. I I don't like to spoil too much, you know, going into it. but I mean Nelson and Jeff: Right. Mark Scioneaux: the trailer the trailer has me pretty hyped. And I will certainly be tuning in right away because I do have Peacock. Nelson and Jeff: Nicholas. Producer Nick: yeah, I'm, like you, Mark. I'm a big eight 24 fan. I think it looks very interesting. I, I'll, agree with, Jeff's question about like, where are they going with this? but it does look, it looks well done. I like Linda Cardellini and I mentioned this, interested to see where they take the story and what, what they're actually going to do, because it seems like, seems like it's about just as much about the town. as it is about the characters. So that's kind Nelson and Jeff: Mm-hmm. Producer Nick: of interesting. But I'm a little guarded. What we got with Welcome to Derry was a little underwhelming. So I hope it's better than that. But I'm looking forward to it. I'm gonna have to watch it with you also, because I don't have peacock either. Nelson and Jeff: Yeah, Nick, I agree. 'Cause like i in the trailer it mentions like how the town is cursed. So I wonder if like a lot of the the horror and the violence and stuff isn't around Pamela or Jason, it's around other creepos who live in the town. Yeah. Producer Nick: right. Like they might not be, I mean, in the name of the show, you know, they might be in the in the series, but they may not be centerpieces as much as we maybe think the town may be the centerpiece. So I'm I'm hyped. Nelson and Jeff: Yeah. Producer Nick: I'm I'm ready to go. Nelson and Jeff: Well, I'm very excited. I I keep watching the trailer and I just get more and more excited. and that's all I'm gonna say because you know, we have more questions and I don't wanna bleed on y'all already bled into a couple of them, so we'll just go to those like so y'all w y'all talked about the supernatural aspect. That was gonna be one of my questions. Do you think this is gonna go super the supernatural route or will it stay Pamela Voorhees just kind of losing her damn mind type of thing? Mark Scioneaux: So what I did kind of see is that they are not going a supernatural route with this. it looks like it's going to be grounded more in I guess reality or reality of the time, because I mean we're not going to get hockey mask Jason here. we're not even gonna gonna get bag over his head, Jason, in this one. So I do think I I will be kind of curious to see how they play this as far as keeping that supernatural angle out and how they probably focus more just on Pamela Voorhees and her descent into I guess revenge madness for what happened Nelson and Jeff: Right. Mark Scioneaux: to her son. Nelson and Jeff: So I I wonder, is Jason in this at all? Well, that's the question. I mean, he's in it, of course, before he drowned, I think, for a little bit. But the Producer Nick: Yeah. Nelson and Jeff: one of the biggest questions that everybody has is Jason in it? And when you watch the trailer, they sure make it look like he may be in it. But then I'm wondering if that's like a misdirection type thing. Yeah. Producer Nick: Yeah, there are a couple of shots. That's what I was thinking too. There's a couple of shots with like a growner, at least a teenaged or older teenage Jason, Jason. But I mean, that could be anybody standing in the shadows in the woods covered in blood looking menacing. Nelson and Jeff: Right. Because the the last trailer's got a dude and he's kind of got like a jumpsuit and maybe something over his head. He's got a machete and it's like, that's Jason. But I would prefer it if like, no, that wasn't. That was just another crazy person living in Crystal Lake. Or a dream sequence or something. now Producer Nick: Yeah. Nelson and Jeff: it's also gonna depend on the timeline. So watching the original one, nineteen fifty seven, Jason drowned. He was eleven. Nineteen fifty eight is the opening scene when the two counselors die. And then 1980 is whenever the movie starts. So you have a 22, 23 year difference there. So that means Jason was like 33, right? Because he was born in 1946 or whatever. So are they going to do the same type of timeline on this one? It starts in 1971. So Producer Nick: Mm-hmm. Nelson and Jeff: is it going to be 1994 once this series actually starts? Like is it going to be like a little A little scene where they show Jason die or whatever or drown and then they never find his body, obviously they say that. So is it gonna be twenty three years later or are they gonna do it sooner? Okay, so I did find I have the answer to that question. so yeah. In the new timeline, he's born in sixty, drowns in seventy one, so he's eleven. Right. The show is between seventy one and seventy two. Okay, so it's like the year after. Yeah. Okay. Right. Producer Nick: So he just drowned and Mark Scioneaux: Allegedly. Producer Nick: backtracking a little bit the look of the trailer. You made a point about it being in the early 70s. Like they got the look right from with the trailer. I Nelson and Jeff: Mm-hmm. Producer Nick: I like a good period piece like that. Like the clothing and the cars and the buildings that that all looks like phenomenal. Mark Scioneaux: So the one thing I'll be curious to see is what happens with Jason once he drowns. What happens either with his body or what happens if he even does indeed drown? Because, you know, in the original, obviously he he drowns, and then in the second movie, it's pretty much established that he didn't drown. He's he's been alive in the woods for twenty something years, which then brings up about a thousand other questions. about why was he in the woods while his mom was getting her head cut off and then was he watching his mom get her head cut off and then how did he know how to get revenge on the people and whatever. so I will be kind of curious to see if it's you know I could see something interesting where maybe maybe he drowns and she resuscitates him and maybe he's brain damaged maybe something happened to him from being under the water for so long and then she hides him away from the town and then that allows him to get older and then once one day take revenge. Nelson and Jeff: And then she hides them away from the town and that allows them to get over it once when they Mark Scioneaux: So I'll be curious to see kinda how they handle that aspect. Nelson and Jeff: kind of how they handled that afternoon. Well watching the trailer, I don't think so because they say they show her at the dock looking in the lake and they say she goes there every day. So I think they never find his body is what they're saying happened in this version. Mark Scioneaux: True, or she could just be playing everybody into saying that she never found his body. You know, I I don't know. I mean, I don't know. It's eight Nelson and Jeff: Or she's crazy. Well she is crazy. Mark Scioneaux: it's eight episodes in a two minute trailer, so Nelson and Jeff: Yeah. Mark Scioneaux: I guess we'll see. Nelson and Jeff: Okay, well one of my questions was do you think we'll even see the Jason mask? But now that if you're saying that he's it's only a year later, then he's only twelve years old. So I yeah, that's not gonna happen. Mark Scioneaux: I mean I I'm sure we'll see a hockey mask in there at some point. Just yeah. I'm sure there'll be Easter Producer Nick: Yeah, they'll be a cameo. Nelson and Jeff: Yeah, like a little Easter egg. Mark Scioneaux: eggs. There'll be a machete. There'll be a a hockey mask. I'm sure there'll be Easter eggs galore. Which is the fun part of these series is gonna be us picking out Easter eggs. you know, a little bit of a topic switch, but like the new Resident Evil movie, which was a blast. I mean, that one had Easter egg after Easter egg of the video game. So that's just just one Nelson and Jeff: Mm-hmm. Mark Scioneaux: little thing in the background. I think those that's always a lot of fun that these series can do. Producer Nick: Yeah, they're definitely not something like that in there. Nelson and Jeff: Yeah. Well, have you seen Bates Motel? Mark Scioneaux: Yes. Nelson and Jeff: Okay, so Bates Motel, what they did was it's a prequel, but they did it in present day. It's like a they call it a contemporary prequel type thing. So Mark Scioneaux: Mm. Reimagining. Yeah. Nelson and Jeff: I'm guessing that's kind of what they're they're doing here. The the timeline is gonna be different. And so my next question is do you want it, do you want them to try And conform it to the lore of what we have in the movies, or do you want him them to do kind of like what did they do with Bates Motel, where they kind of just they took the idea of it and maybe streamlined it better because you know, we all know that the original movie was made to be a one-off. They never expected it to be as popular. And then when they said, Well, you have to make a sequel, Cunningham was like, well, we cut her head off. Well, I guess Jason's gonna have to be alive. So he never was intended to be what he became. So they're gonna have to, you know, do a little bit better writing and and better, I don't know, story continuity wise. So do you want them to do that or do you you think they should try to keep it more like what the movies were? Mark Scioneaux: I want I want different. I want new. I want fresh. Nelson and Jeff: Yeah, me too. Mark Scioneaux: I I want original. I I don't want that. I can watch the the the the 12 movies or however movies there are if I want to get my Jason fix. But you know, I want to see something that is a new story in that universe, which to me it's probably similar to like when they rebooted the Halloween universe in 2018 and they they had a a new direct sequel. that kind of like ignored all the other movies except the original first movie. And and I kind of feel like that's what's happening here. It's going to be a, hey, ignore all those other movies. They don't exist. This is a whole brand new thing. Nelson and Jeff: Would you want it to be a series or a movie that they continue on this new fractured timeline? Mark Scioneaux: Probably keep it to a series. I think you can do more with a series. You know, give me give me eight hours worth of Jason as opposed to an hour and a half. Producer Nick: Yeah, I'm with Mark. I'm good if they do something Nelson and Jeff: I think I'd be okay with that. Producer Nick: a little different. Nelson and Jeff: Go ahead, Nick. Producer Nick: I was just saying, I agree with Mark. I'm okay if they do something a little different and it doesn't align with the movies. You can start a new timeline, start a new story. Nelson and Jeff: something a little different and it doesn't align with the movies it started the new timeline started restored. Yeah. in it I so I I listened to an interview with one of the the directors or producers and they were talking about how like they basically said just ignore the originals, you know, there's no way for us to squeeze this in to fit with the originals. Mark Scioneaux: I think we'd all be pretty disappointed if like, you know, we waited this long and and got hyped up and then all it was was just a basic retelling of the first movie. I I don't really want that. Now it would be kind of funny if at the end she ends up going to space. That would be a t that would be a tw that would be a twist. Right. Season t Nelson and Jeff: Well maybe after season two. Producer Nick: Talk talk about a tie in Mark Scioneaux: season two is in space. That would be cool. Producer Nick: tied into the best Friday the 13th movie. Mark Scioneaux: Exactly. Nelson and Jeff: Okay, so your y'all's official prediction is that we're not gonna see Jason. We're definitely not gonna see adult Jason if it's only two years later. But so y'all don't think we're gonna see Jason at all? Mark Scioneaux: We will see little boy Jason before he becomes Jason. Producer Nick: I don't think we'll see Jason as we know him now. Mark Scioneaux: Right. Producer Nick: Yeah, I don't think we'll see him as we know him now. Nelson and Jeff: Yeah. I'm I'm starting to think that we won't I'm starting to think we won't see Jason at all. I think the images of Jason that we see, it's like she's dreaming or she's imagining it. Mark Scioneaux: Well, just like the first movie, i this isn't about Jason. It's about her. Nelson and Jeff: Correct. Mark Scioneaux: So I and I think that's kind of what they're going going to stay true to. We will see little boy Jason and then yeah, probably glimpses here and there and like I said, I'll I'll be very curious to kinda see how they handle all this. I I'm I'm very much looking forward to it. I'm glad it's only what, four days away when it when it Nelson and Jeff: Yep. Mark Scioneaux: drops. Nelson and Jeff: No, no, it's ten days away, eleven. I think it's the fifteenth. The fifteenth. So we got a little bit. So Mark Scioneaux: I thought it was the eight. Well Nelson and Jeff: I think we see Jason in the very last shot of this season. And it's like it's him and you know, he he maybe comes out of the water or comes out of the woods, and you know, he sees a machete and then he sees a mask, and you never actually see like put it all together, but you're like, that's Jason, and then season two jumps like eight years. Where he's now a twenty year old man who has come back out of the woods and being feral. That's interesting. I like that. Mark Scioneaux: Yeah. Yeah, 'cause then they can still bring back Linda Cartellini and just, you know, as the like image of the ghost image of his mom talking to him or being in his head. I'll be curious. I I have like I said, I haven't done any real deep research into like I don't know if how many seasons they're even planning, if they plan on for more than one or if it's or or what they're even planning. Yeah, well Nelson and Jeff: probably gonna be on if if they make money. Mark Scioneaux: yeah. Yeah. I guess that's like the other Jason movies. So Producer Nick: I'm wondering if they're trying to go ahead. Nelson and Jeff: Yeah, yeah, Chelsea and Stacey. Yeah, I think they're gonna have flashbacks, but I really think that because I do know in the trailer she's asking people, have you seen him? What did you see? And they had I they had like they were in the hospital, they had been attacked. So, and then like they think there's a bear in the woods attacking people. So, it could be I I don't know. Maybe he is doing something. I don't know. It's they did a great job in the trailer keeping you guessing. Because some sometimes you think, yeah, he he's gotta be there. Then other times, no, it's a misdirection. It's it's something else. But it could very well be the whole time Pamela and Jason are both doing things, and then you see like what you said, maybe s we see an image of Jason at the very end. That would be cool. See, I think she'll she's gonna get killed at the very end, and that's what causes him to flip and become Jason. Right. You know, Vohe. Producer Nick: That's what I was wondering if they're gonna go Rogue One and just make it lead directly up to that first movie. Mark Scioneaux: She's too pretty to die. I'm cheering for her. I gotta cheer for her the Producer Nick: Yeah, I'm with you. Mark Scioneaux: whole way. Producer Nick: I'm with you. wanted to I wanted to make it. Nelson and Jeff: I don't know. I don't want yeah, I'm just I'm like I'm with Mark. I don't want them to I think it would be neat if we go into season two where they're working together. Mark Scioneaux: Mm-hmm. Nelson and Jeff: That would be a cool shift. Because it only Producer Nick: Totally reset, Mark Scioneaux: It would Producer Nick: total reset. Mark Scioneaux: Yeah, it would give us a it would give us a lot more also, you know, just because that's what you kind of imagining is happening with Jason while we watch him through all of his other movies that his mom is somewhere, you know. it's kind of what they did pretty well, I think, with the with the newest Jason movie, the one that came out I think in twenty twelve. Nelson and Jeff: Yeah. Mark Scioneaux: you know, they really did a heavy emphasis on on his mom and controlling Nelson and Jeff: Mm-hmm. Mark Scioneaux: him. even though she had been dead for a long time. So I'm I'm wondering if that's kind of where it's gonna go. Nelson and Jeff: Yeah, because if you if you watch the movies, the only thing that would make sense is she knew he wasn't dead the whole time. You know, because it it it does doesn't make much sense that he's been living in the woods for twenty two years and she didn't see him. You know, 'cause it wasn't that far away. So what happens to her at the end of the first one though? She dies, but the second movie takes place Mark Scioneaux: Yeah. Nelson and Jeff: pretty much right after and he starts taking revenge. He the first thing he does is kill Alice. Who's the final girl in the first movie? Because there's a jump. Yeah, he kills her. And it's just, you know, a few weeks later or whatever. So it takes place right after. So in the movie you have to assume that he saw them kill Pamela or he finds out. Like, and that's what Mark was saying. It doesn't really make sense. 'Cause like, how did he even know how to track Alice down? I mean, you know. Mark Scioneaux: Sure. I mean it's that that like you said, it's it's called, wait, this movie made a lot of money, we need a sequel and we need it quick. Nelson and Jeff: Right. Mark Scioneaux: we'll figure out that later. But yeah, yeah, I just Producer Nick: Yeah, and people aren't going to really care. Nelson and Jeff: Yeah, yeah, it's Mark Scioneaux: And they're not. No, they're not. Producer Nick: Yeah. Nelson and Jeff: I'll care. Mark Scioneaux: Well, we are now all these all Producer Nick: Maybe, maybe they won't. Mark Scioneaux: these years later. Nelson and Jeff: Made it easier. Producer Nick: Maybe they won't notice. Nelson and Jeff: Okay. Okay, but go ahead. Here's the thing is I think the if you ask the common guy, hey, what's Friday the thirteenth about, they're gonna talk about Jason Voorhees in a hockey match. Yep. So I think if you end up having it be a lot of you know, mom and son working together and there's no hockey match, there's no machete, there's no, you know, this kind of supernatural man, I think people are going to be kind of unhappy about that. Mm-hmm. You know, a unless they are trying to gear this for, you know, horror fans who know, you know, hey, the original wasn't about Jason and, you know, kinda know all that. I I I don't know how well people are gonna take this. Yeah, because most people I mean Producer Nick: So are they going to sell tickets route or are they going the we want to write something that the fans are going to enjoy route? Nelson and Jeff: Yeah. 'Cause I mean, look at Nick. He just what was it, two years ago I showed it to you and he had no idea about the Jason Mom thing. So are there enough people who don't know that that would appreciate this or not? I don't know. Mark Scioneaux: Don't think this show is for them. Like I said, A A24 doesn't mu Nelson and Jeff: said a eight twenty four does it Mark Scioneaux: does has never like cared about making something niche for their audience. and also in this regard, I I think I think this show is for the horror fans. it it's not really going to cater or care if you've never seen Friday the thirteenth or don't know this isn't Friday the thirteenth. This is Crystal Lake. So to me Nelson and Jeff: about making something niche for their audience. and also in this regard, I I think I think this show is for the horror fans. it it's not really going to cater or tear if you've never seen Friday the thirteenth or don't know this isn't Friday the thirteenth. This is Crystal Lake. Yeah. Yeah. So Producer Nick: Yeah. And that's what I hope. Nelson and Jeff: that'd be what I hope like it's Mark Scioneaux: It's different. Nelson and Jeff: different. I hope I kinda hope Jason's not in it. Producer Nick: I hope I kind of hope Jason's not in it. Like he can be in the background and part of the story, whatever. But I hope it's more about the town, about the mom, about that kind of stuff. If he's not in it, that's OK with me. Nelson and Jeff: Like he can be in the background and part of the story, whatever, but I hope it's more about the town, about the mall about that kind of stuff. If if he's not in it, that's okay with me. Yeah, I mean he'll be he'll be her catalyst to s to become who she ends up being. Like he's he's absolutely in the movie 'cause I I mean I've seen the kid that they cast to BJ, so but it doesn't look like he's in a lot of empheces. Mark Scioneaux: Yeah, I mean he'll be he'll be her catalyst to s to become who she ends up being. Like he's he's absolutely in the movie 'cause I I mean I've seen the kid that they cast to be Jason, but it doesn't look like he's in a lot of episodes. Producer Nick: Right. And that's, that's what I mean. If he's not like a central part Nelson and Jeff: Right. And that's that's what I mean. If he's gonna like his Producer Nick: of it, then that's, that's good. That's good with me. Nelson and Jeff: central Mark Scioneaux: Yeah. Nelson and Jeff: part of it, then that's that's absolutely I did enjoy seeing Pamela speak with crazy Ralph. So that's gonna be interesting to see. Does he like really go crazy or was he always crazy, you know? Mark Scioneaux: R right. He was sensible, Ralph, at one point. Nelson and Jeff: Yeah, was he he the guy everybody was listening to, then he just, you know, goes nuts after Pamela starts doing her thing? Mark Scioneaux: Hey, that's calm Ralph. Producer Nick: He was just Ralph. Nelson and Jeff: Calm rough. Mark Scioneaux: What's what's calm Ralph doing over there? Nelson and Jeff: The prequel version of Ralph. That's awful. Mark Scioneaux: I want a Ralph Origins series. Nelson and Jeff: Bruh. Mark Scioneaux: But alas. Nelson and Jeff: They'll do it. They do origin series for everybody now. Mark Scioneaux: Eventually. Nelson and Jeff: Okay, so your prediction is you think you're gonna see Jason. Nick, do you have any wild prediction or something you would like to see happen that nobody's mentioned yet? Producer Nick: No, I mean, there's going to be there's going to have to be some type of shock moment, some kind of twist, some kind of something that hooks people maybe towards the end. I have no idea what that could be, and I don't want to make a prediction, but I do. I think it's going to be good, and I hope it's not like we've been talking about. It's not Friday the 13th. I hope it's not a Jason show. I hope it's about her, the town, the things surrounding those events, but not the event. You know, I predict that I want it to be good. Nelson and Jeff: Okay, Mark, anything any any bold or wild prediction that you just want to throw out there? Mark Scioneaux: Yeah, my my wild prediction is that we will never get Hockey Mask Jason during this series, and that they are going to stick only to the very first movie as canon. And I think that this however long this series goes for, I think it's only gonna be about Pamela Voorhees. Nelson and Jeff: Okay. Well, mine is Mark Scioneaux: That's that's good. Producer Nick: I'm good with that. Nelson and Jeff: I think that it's going to be both of them, but I don't think that she's going to know what he's doing. I think it's gonna be she's killing, do going crazy, you know, we'll see her go crazy, do her thing. But at the same time, Jason is doing stuff and she doesn't really realize it. That's my bold prediction. It may be completely wrong, but I'm going with that. Mark Scioneaux: thing that's tipping me I'm sorry. Yeah, the thing Nelson and Jeff: But I don't think we're gonna see a hockey mask at all. Sorry. Mark Scioneaux: the thing that's tipping me off is only like I said and it was seeing that little bit of them saying that they're gonna ground it in reality. And I don't think there's any way you can explain Jason the kid to becoming Jason the mass killer without putting the supernatural into it. So if you're going to just completely get rid of the supernatural Then explain how Jason the eleven year old becomes Jason the hulking monster in the mask. Nelson and Jeff: Jason the Hulking monster. Well, I don't think he's gonna be Hulking. I think he's gonna be the twelve a twelve year old kid going around slicing people. That's my bold prediction. But what if what if Mark Scioneaux: Twelve year old twelve year old in a ma in a mask. Nelson and Jeff: season two does a time jump of eight years and you now have nineteen year old Jason? Mark Scioneaux: Just I mean, I g like I said, then I guess that would go back to one of my other thoughts about is Jason really not going to die, but is she going to hide him away somewhere? Maybe because he's either horrifically bullied or he's an outcast or she's an outcast from the town, that she feels a reason to hide him away. And that would then explain why Jason is never found after he drowns, I suppose. Nelson and Jeff: Okay, but y you're saying this Producer Nick: Maybe soon. Nelson and Jeff: this show's gonna be grounded in reality, but an eleven year old boy dies and eventually becomes a mass murderer. There's gotta be Mark Scioneaux: Unless he does Nelson and Jeff: something supernatural. Mark Scioneaux: unless he doesn't die and unless they never go the mask murderer route. I don't know. Nelson and Jeff: Or if it's only an eight episode series and there's never a season two and it's just Pamela Voorhees. Mark Scioneaux: And it ends on a giant cliffhanger in sp Nelson and Jeff: Right. Or she gets her head chopped off and then it's over. Mark Scioneaux: in space. Producer Nick: Yeah, because in the Nelson and Jeff: All right. I don't I don't think they're gonna do that. No, there's there's no space. No. No space. No, no, I don't Producer Nick: in the trailer. Nelson and Jeff: think they're gonna Mark Scioneaux: Yeah. Nelson and Jeff: there's no way they're gonna not have Jason be the killer, whether it's at the end of this season, like you said, like at something like that, or the beginning of next season. He it's too Jason, the character, is too big for them to not do it. Mark Scioneaux: I know, I know, but it's eight twenty f it's Producer Nick: Don't they show. Mark Scioneaux: eight twenty four. Eight twenty four gets wheel gets wild sometimes. Producer Nick: Don't they show Linda Cardellini at the end of this, at the end of the trailer with the short hair and the turtleneck sweater, like they show her as the Pamela we know. Nelson and Jeff: In one teaser there is, they do show her. Producer Nick: Yeah. Nelson and Jeff: You're right. So that could be the nineteen ninety four version where she's quite older and she's cut her hair. Mark Scioneaux: I I was looking at the comment. I I agree with Stacy. She says I think maybe the town has something to do with it. Things aren't ordinary there. And I really think that that's what's going to be a real treat for the fans of the series. is going to be diving more into the lore and maybe mythology of the town and Crystal Lake. Maybe something's cursed about the lake. Maybe something gets maybe something breaks. Yes, maybe. Nelson and Jeff: Mm-hmm. It it really does have a death curse. Mark Scioneaux: Maybe they maybe they dabble in the supernatural and Jason can come back to life through the lake somehow. I I don't know. But I guess we'll find. Nelson and Jeff: Yeah. Okay. I I do have a question and it it might be related. Do we know anything about Jason's dad? No, they've never even mentioned that. Mr. Bordon? Mr. But like Mark Scioneaux: Mr. Vorhees. Nelson and Jeff: like how much of a a a shock, a twist would it be if like at some point dad shows back up? Yeah, they've never even said if his dad Producer Nick: Jason's dad is Michael Myers. Nelson and Jeff: was deceased or anything. At least I don't think so. Well, they may have dabbled in that and Jason goes to hell, huh? Mark Scioneaux: you know what? I'm looking it up right now. Producer Nick: I don't remember. Mark Scioneaux: So Jason Voorhees' father is Elias Voorhees. He's Nelson and Jeff: Yeah, they mentioned in the ninth one. Mark Scioneaux: depicted as the husband of Pamela Vohees. However, there are complexities in the lore surrounding his character. He's not considered Jason's biological father, and there's hints that another man posed as I don't know. It sounds like even the internet doesn't know. The internet Dude, the internet, yeah. Nelson and Jeff: Sounds like you fell down a rabbit hole. Yeah. And they made up all kind of stuff and Jason Goes to Hell. Mark Scioneaux: Yeah, the internet just started talking in circles with that answer. So like I Nelson and Jeff: Yeah. Mark Scioneaux: I don't know. Producer Nick: That's going to be the shock. Nelson and Jeff: You know what is cool? Producer Nick: Kevin Bacon is going to make a cameo as Jason's dad. Nelson and Jeff: Dude, that would be so awesome. That would be pretty cool. Mark Scioneaux: That would be pretty cool. Nelson and Jeff: they're shooting or it looks like it was shot in the exact same town as the first one. You know, when you see the hitchhiker girl walking up and in that you can see that part. It's like in the opening of the trailer. And when I looked at it, it's all filmed in New Jersey, which is where the first one was filmed. So Mark Scioneaux: Yeah, Blairstown, New Jersey. Nelson and Jeff: Yep. Good for them for doing that. Yeah, that's really cool. You know. Not filming in like Canada or something like that because it was cheaper. You know, they Mark Scioneaux: Right. Right. Nelson and Jeff: they went back to where it was actually filmed and 'cause I've seen you can go on Google Earth and it's the town still well, that street looks the same as it did back then. It's kind of wild. So cool. I want to go visit the camp. Mark Scioneaux: Yeah, I w I wanna go visit the camp. I wanna go visit the camp one day. I think that would be wild. Nelson and Jeff: Road trip. Mark Scioneaux: For real. Producer Nick: Bring your pistol. Nelson and Jeff: I'm down. Mark Scioneaux: We get Jamie to drive us. Nelson and Jeff: We can't get him on here. You think we could get him to drive us to New Jersey? Mark Scioneaux: That's why he'd be driving. Nelson and Jeff: Yes, that's his punishment. He has to drive. Producer Nick: Penance. Mark Scioneaux: We'll be in the back seat doing the show. He'll be driving. Nelson and Jeff: In his Subaru with his gas. Mark Scioneaux: Look, Producer Nick: Yeah, that'll Mark Scioneaux: we're gonna get there. Producer Nick: be his penance. Nelson and Jeff: Huh? Producer Nick: That'll be his penance. Nelson and Jeff: Yeah, mimes. she just said crazy Ralph would be his dad. Now that would be a hell of a twist, Stacy. If Crazy Ralph was Jason's dad. Mark Scioneaux: That's what made him crazy. The responsibilities Nelson and Jeff: Could be. Hm. Mark Scioneaux: of fatherhood drove him mad. Producer Nick: It in the family. Nelson and Jeff: All right. So well, once the show is over, I say we have another round table and see what came true and what didn't come true on our predictions. Like once the whole eight Yeah, well they drop all of it at once. okay. So d how long are the episodes, Mark, have they said? Mark Scioneaux: yeah, let me here, let me see. I got IMDB pulled up. Let me see if I can pull up a an episode. Nelson and Jeff: If they're thirty minutes, that'll be easy to binge watch. Mark Scioneaux: I hope they're at least an hour. what you know. Yeah, looks like well, Nelson and Jeff: Yeah. That seems like the right amount. Producer Nick: I agree. Mark Scioneaux: yeah, it looks like the episodes are an hour. Nelson and Jeff: Good. That's I mean that's a lot of content. Yeah. Mark Scioneaux: Yeah. Yeah, we're gonna get a lot. So we'll see. I I'm I said looking forward to it. Looking I I'm looking forward to being surprised. And I just hope I'm pleasantly surprised. Producer Nick: Yeah, not a crappy surprise. Nobody wants that. Nelson and Jeff: Cool. All right. Well, anybody else have anything to add? Anything to plug? Mark's got a book. Mark's got a book. Mark Scioneaux: I got so I got so much to plug. You know, the the coolest thing I'm working on right now is a is an audio drama. which Nelson and Jeff: yeah. Mark Scioneaux: is kind of like War of the Worlds meets paranormal activity meets evil dead kind of thing. It's it's a story about two modern day podcasters find the cassette from a radio show in nineteen eighty six that aired in a small Louisiana town. And after it aired, the entire town was wiped off the map. And they get to actually hear the radio program what happened that night. a lot of fun things we got to do is my writing partner and I, we got to write a bunch of 1980s cart commercials. So we've got commercials Nelson and Jeff: Mm-hmm. Mark Scioneaux: during the commercial break. we have some professional DJs playing the role of the of the two DJs. And we've just been kind of recording that the last three weeks at a local studio in Baton Rouge. So we're piecing that together. Hopefully that'll be out in a few weeks, but I'm looking forward to kind of releasing that and just just doing something different. The next stage the next step is to adapt it for the play, for the stage. So I'm working with a a local production company about getting it adapted as a stage play. Which would be Nelson and Jeff: That's cool. The next stage the next step is to adapt it to play, for the stage. So I'm working with a a local production company about getting it adapted as a stage play. Wow. Excellent. Producer Nick: What's the name of it? Mark Scioneaux: Well, I I think we've decided that well, the the the placeholder name is called Once Upon a Hollowed Eve. I don't know if that's the actual official title or the placeholder title, but for right now that that's just kind of what we we have it as. Nelson and Jeff: Are the characters' names Shmaimi and Shmark? Yeah, no, no, no. Mark Scioneaux: Yeah, no, no, no. No, but we we creatively used all of our regular names for the most part. And yeah, so the the two DJs are on ninety point three in Baton Rouge. They're they're real DJs, they sound fantastic, and then honestly we we had a whole like we we found out we had it we had so many talented friends who could do voice acting. But we we had an absolute blast recording that. So now we're doing Nelson and Jeff: Awesome. Mark Scioneaux: so now we're in the editing process, Producer Nick: Awesome, that sounds great. Mark Scioneaux: which is Tedious. Nelson and Jeff: Well the Landry incident played at the Lake Charles Film Festival yesterday. Mark Scioneaux: Nice. Nelson and Jeff: and I'm waiting on to hear from two other film festivals that I submitted for. I'm gonna find out on the fifteenth for one of them and the nineteenth for another. So hopefully it's you know, I just wanted to at least be chosen to be shown. You know, I mean I'm not expecting to win any awards or anything. I just would like to see. Mark Scioneaux: I watched it the other night. I I downloaded the app and I watched it and yeah, I wanted to tell you really good job on that. yeah, you did you No, no, I I Nelson and Jeff: well thank you. And Nelson's actually already working on the second one. Yep, yep. Mark Scioneaux: thought it was for for for a short film and for for how y'all shot it, I thought it was you know, pretty effectively creepy and I and I really enjoyed it. So congratulations and good job to all of you. Nelson and Jeff: thank you. This is this was my camera. Mark Scioneaux: Yeah. Nice. Nelson and Jeff: Yeah, we shot it on the iPhone. So Mark Scioneaux: Yeah. Nelson and Jeff: and what maybe about six hours worth of filming total. maybe a little bit more. Yeah. It was over two different nights. It was two different nights, yeah. Mark Scioneaux: Yes, I I I think I think that's what I enjoyed about it is it it it really felt real and that was nice. It was like I said. Yeah, I'm I'm a Nelson and Jeff: Yeah, the mockumentary style. Yeah. Mark Scioneaux: big fan of like found footage mockumentary style. So when you were doing like the the footage from the security camera and everything, I thought that that was really cool. So like that that's my kind of favorite subgenre of of horror. So yeah, watching that I thought it was really, really well done. Nelson and Jeff: You can ask Jeff my original and Nick, my original concept was found footage. Mark Scioneaux: Mm. Producer Nick: Thank Nelson and Jeff: but it I didn't being that it was, you know, our first go round, I didn't want to take a chance of somebody like breaking a leg, running, you know, because I I had her running through the sugarcane field and stuff. Mark Scioneaux: Mm-hmm. Nelson and Jeff: but I didn't I didn't want to go that route. It just seemed a little too risky. Then we'd had to get permission from the landowner to use it and all of that. So it just It ended up being what what you saw. But Mark Scioneaux: Well Nelson and Jeff: my original concept was found footage. Mark Scioneaux: No, I think that was a really great debut effort and I I think whatever you make next, you'll probably improve upon it, you know, just because of less Yeah. yeah, yeah, Nelson and Jeff: yeah, we learned a lot. Yeah. Mark Scioneaux: yeah. I know from being on on my own film set there's so much to learn and then apply to the next time. But but but really, really nice job, everyone. Really well done. Nelson and Jeff: Thank you. And you know, Jeff's acting was superb. Mark Scioneaux: Yeah. Nelson and Jeff: And that's why I'm not in the next one. Producer Nick: Hehehe. Nelson and Jeff: And your audio Mark Scioneaux: That's Hollywood. Nelson and Jeff: was Jeff's audio was very crisp and and for some reason someone was Producer Nick: Whoever Nelson and Jeff: holding the microphone at the right level. Producer Nick: Whoever was holding that boom, Mike, knew what the hell they Nelson and Jeff: Yeah. Producer Nick: were. You would think that it be a veteran Mark Scioneaux: It won't Producer Nick: with years and years of experience and many credits to his name. Mark Scioneaux: It's so nice when you do see something that's low budget, no budget, or fan made and the audio is is good. Nelson and Jeff: It it's nice working with professionals, Nick. Producer Nick: You're welcome. Mark Scioneaux: The young lady did a good job too. I I don't know who she was, but she she did a great job. Nelson and Jeff: Yeah, she's a friend of ours who's in the five of first with us his daughter. So she's Mark Scioneaux: Okay. Nelson and Jeff: been around, you know, she's at the cons and everything. She's always been, you know, Damien's daughter and what was she about thirteen, fourteen when she first started hanging around? Probably. You know, and now she's in college. So Yep. Mark Scioneaux: Mm. So speaking of cons, what's the what's the next show you guys are gonna be Nelson and Jeff: For the five first or for YouTube stuff? Mark Scioneaux: I guess for both. Nelson and Jeff: The next con for the five first, I think is Cajun con in December. Okay. Mark Scioneaux: Okay. Nelson and Jeff: STCC we're not doing? Nope. No. I want to go to it though. Yeah, I wouldn't mind going to it. as far as for the YouTube stuff and podcast, that's a that's a Jamie Ray question. Well, we're going to the one in New Orleans. Which one? the one that said the first of the the first weekend of January. The big one. Galaxy. Mark Scioneaux: that's yeah, the big one. What's it called? GalaxyCon? Or yeah. Yeah, he usually does. Nelson and Jeff: Galaxy. Fan Expo? No, Fan Expo. I think Jamie's going to Fan Expo, huh? Yeah. You're right. So I'll I'll probably go with him to that. I'll be at the Batroidge Makers Fair in two weeks. There I'm I'm doing a class on building terrain stuff. So yeah, Mark Scioneaux: nice, nice. Nelson and Jeff: they're having their big Makers Fair library con, so I'll I'll be there for that. Yeah. Mark Scioneaux: Cool. Nelson and Jeff: I won't be there. We had the f the five K that day. Alrighty, well, is that it? Mark Scioneaux: That's it for me. Producer Nick: That's all I got. Nelson and Jeff: Cool. This was fun. Yep, it was fun. Thanks for joining those who were here. We had Stacey, Haley, Chelsea. There's there's so many to list. We you might as well just stop. Yeah, I'm done. That's the the list is complete. Producer Nick: Yeah, those are the main ones. Nelson and Jeff: so are we gonna be back in what, three weeks? Yeah, well once we everybody can watch all the episodes. I mean, it might take a little bit longer with them being an hour long. Producer Nick: See, and you said they all drop at one time, it's not gonna be a week by week thing? Cool, that'll be good for Nelson and Jeff: That's what they're saying. They all drop at once. Cool. Yep. Producer Nick: me. Nelson and Jeff: All right. Well, like, subscribe, tell your friends. We'll catch y'all on the next one. Mark Scioneaux: This was fun. Thanks, y'all. Nelson and Jeff: All right. And we're clear.
