- 3:11I'm I'm super happy you are here.
- 3:13I'm very very excited for this. We eventually will have every
- 3:16member of the Lost boys on. That is my that is my promise
- 3:19and my goal for the podcast cuz they're all extremely talented.
- 3:22Even the underage one who can't drink, you know what I mean?
- 3:24Two of them. Two of them.
- 3:26Two of them that can't drink. I'm the oldest one.
- 3:29I'm the oldest lost boy. Ryan is a year younger than I
- 3:34am. And then?
- 3:37Nathan is just turned 20 and Miles is about to turn 20.
- 3:41Yeah. Yeah, we're, they're, they're
- 3:44they're the young lads for sure. Awesome, man.
- 3:48What? Yeah.
- 3:48So this gonna be a lot of fun. We're gonna learn a lot about
- 3:51you and and dive right into it. So let's get the first one in.
- 3:53What is your earliest memory of becoming a fan of professional
- 3:57wrestling? So I I would assume that this
- 4:04was off of a DVD. But my the the first match
- 4:07memory that I like really remember was the Triangle Triple
- 4:13Threat Ladder match, the tag ladder match between E&C parties
- 4:18and the Dudleys. That match was it for me of
- 4:21like, wow, these guys are nuts. And just through that, that
- 4:27little area era, the IT was more so like the Ruthless Aggression
- 4:32era is really where I started. And then obviously I got I had
- 4:36some really cool old school Stone Cold Steve Austin DHS
- 4:41tapes. So I would like, I would burn
- 4:43that to the absolute ground and my dad would have like this nice
- 4:47little collection of a bunch of old like 9899 pay per views and
- 4:51that's kind of, I would do some watch those until I literally
- 4:55couldn't yeah pre network. Yeah, yeah, that's what it was.
- 5:00Yeah. Little, little me.
- 5:01And I mean I have. When I was I think either three
- 5:04or four I was stone cold for Halloween.
- 5:08Like I I was really invested and and I mean from there just it
- 5:14continued to just spiral and then he and a with the
- 5:20exhibition my favorite wrestler of all time Chris Saban who.
- 5:26Probably the biggest reason as to why I decided to to to start
- 5:29wrestling in the 1st place. Just the way that he can tell
- 5:32stories and also have these incredible this incredible move
- 5:37set which a lot of people I feel like have a hard time combining
- 5:41the two. Sometimes you can tell a really
- 5:43good story but you don't really like you're not like you don't
- 5:46do cool stuff and then sometimes you do really cool stuff but you
- 5:49don't know how to tell a story. And Chris Saban, people like
- 5:52Chris Saban, people like speedball.
- 5:53They have found how to do both and.
- 5:57I want to be a part of that. I want to be able to do really
- 5:59cool stuff but also tell a really good story.
- 6:04And so yeah, it's just kind of all spiraled.
- 6:07And it really all started from Jeff Hardy, like Jeff Hardy.
- 6:10Edge, like the Christian Christian Cage is a big
- 6:14inspiration for me in terms of my wrestling.
- 6:18But yeah, I I I didn't know I wanted to be.
- 6:24A professional wrestler. Like super early.
- 6:27But like before I was 10, I was like, yeah, I'm going to be a
- 6:29professional wrestler. And then just as Tom went on, I
- 6:34was like, Oh no, I don't know if this is going to, I don't know
- 6:37if this is going to pan out for me.
- 6:40And then I was 19, I was in college.
- 6:44Life is kind of like, I don't know what I'm going to do with
- 6:46my life. And then I went upstairs on a
- 6:50Friday to get a Peach Snapple. And that's a story for later in
- 6:54the podcast. Yeah, it is insane.
- 6:58Growing up in this business and watching it and and seeing all
- 7:01that and then eventually get transition that point, we're
- 7:04like what am I going to do it myself now growing up were you
- 7:07always athletic? Did you play sports?
- 7:09Was that something you did or how would if you met Junie in
- 7:13school growing up, what kind of person were you?
- 7:15I. Definitely had a chip on my
- 7:19shoulder. I've always been the smallest.
- 7:22Like, literally one of the smallest guys in the room.
- 7:26Always. Like, even like now I'm
- 7:28surprisingly like you. You would not expect me to look
- 7:31the way that I looked in high school, even.
- 7:37But I've never been athletic, per se.
- 7:41I've just always been very like determined, like I just have
- 7:46this like. I want to try something, and I
- 7:48don't even want to try it. I want to be good at it.
- 7:51I want to be decent at it. And then I obsess about it for a
- 7:55really long time. I get good at it and then I kind
- 7:57of stop. But this is like the first time.
- 8:00That's like that's not the case. Where like I've loved it.
- 8:04I've wanted to get good at it. I'm getting to where I'm kind of
- 8:07breaking that stride. And I have no, I will not quit.
- 8:13I have. I have all like I'm.
- 8:17Full speed ahead. The mind is stronger than the
- 8:19body. Oh, it is that from I did cross
- 8:24country and I stuck from 7th grade all the way to 9th grade.
- 8:32I was literally unable to do any physical activity at all because
- 8:36if I if my head got Jarred just enough, I had a hole in it from
- 8:42I had some ear surgeries. That where I had to get my
- 8:45eardrum removed. So I sort of just had like a
- 8:47hole in my head and basically if I got hit too hard, who knows
- 8:53what could have happened. Could have been very fatal,
- 8:54could have been could have put me in a coma, could have any
- 8:58anything could have happened that the doctors strongly
- 9:00advised against physical activity.
- 9:03And so the first time I ever ran a 5K, I it literally took me
- 9:11like 42 minutes. And this is like.
- 9:14Late in this into my 9th grade year or a middle issue of my 9th
- 9:19grade year. And I was like, man, I have no
- 9:23stamina. Which makes sense because I
- 9:25literally couldn't do anything for two to three years of my
- 9:28life. And I just, I kept running and I
- 9:36kept running and I was like, I'm going to get good at running.
- 9:38I hate running, but I'm going to get good at it.
- 9:41And then by the time I was a senior.
- 9:44I read I qualified for state championships in cross country
- 9:51running like the fastest I've ever ran 5K was like 1746 I
- 9:57believe so like so like a big jump from the 12th grade and I
- 10:03it's just I had a 5K. I would need a month and a half
- 10:05to get it done. No, no, no.
- 10:07It's a lot easier than people. I'd be walking and like, oh, a
- 10:12bar, and then I'd go into it. But right, like it's the the
- 10:18mind is is so much stronger than the body and if you just will
- 10:21yourself to do things, sometimes that's all it takes.
- 10:24Yeah. So at what point in time you
- 10:27kind of allude to a little bit. What point in time did you say,
- 10:29alright, this is a I I want to pursue this, I want to become a
- 10:33professional wrestler and how did you go about finding your
- 10:35school and what was the process of that like?
- 10:37So the the the school process was was of OK I wish I did I.
- 10:43I wish I was like on Twitter more to like, really understand,
- 10:46like what I'm kind of getting into.
- 10:49But it was so prior to, so prior to wrestling, I was.
- 11:04I graduated college with a theater degree with a theater
- 11:07education degree, but prior to getting into theater education,
- 11:11I was a graphic design maker. And so I hated it.
- 11:16It wasn't what I wanted. I wanted to draw like comic
- 11:18books and stuff like that because I was an artist at the
- 11:21time. I definitely don't know how I
- 11:23would do in terms of picking up the pen now, But I basically was
- 11:31like, this isn't what I want to do and I need to figure
- 11:33something out. So I talked to my mom and my
- 11:34mom's like, just try things like this is the stage of your life
- 11:37that you're at. Try things, see what sticks.
- 11:39And it's. Then I was like 5 or 6 hours
- 11:43later I couldn't sleep. And I I love, I love Peach
- 11:49Snapple. Same.
- 11:50It's my favorites. It's my favorite and now it has
- 11:53like a sentimental thing to me. Like every time I see one I'm
- 11:55like, you're probably why I'm wrestling and I went upstairs to
- 12:02to get a Peach Snapple. I walk over to the night
- 12:06assistant on duty because I have to pass start to get to my dorm
- 12:10and. I was like, what are you doing?
- 12:12Like, it's it's like 2:45 in the morning, almost 3:00 AM And I'm
- 12:15like, what are you doing? And she's like, I'm, I'm, I'm
- 12:18watching a musical that I'm gonna audition for.
- 12:19And I was like, ohh, that's really cool.
- 12:21And she was like, I guess just to be nice, she was like, you
- 12:24should audition for it. And I'm like, I don't do
- 12:29theater. Like, I'm not that kind of guy.
- 12:33And then I walk away. I, like, start heading
- 12:35downstairs. I'm about to get to my room.
- 12:36And then I'm like, why did I just deny that?
- 12:39Like, I just had this conversation with my mom.
- 12:42About trying things. And I'm not even gonna give it a
- 12:44shot. So I turn around, I walk back
- 12:46upstairs and I'm like, what do I need to do to audition for the
- 12:48show? And she, like, told me I needed
- 12:5116 bars and I needed 32nd monologue.
- 12:55And I'm like, I don't know what You bet.
- 12:58I don't know what you're asking me, but you're asking me to
- 13:01freestyle 16 bars. Is that?
- 13:03Yeah, like what? Do I have to drink at 16 bars
- 13:07before I do this like? Yeah, something I'll tell you
- 13:11what the the one of the coolest things I just pulled out of what
- 13:14you just said is your the the wherewithal, your mother.
- 13:18I'm saying to you this is the age of your life where you
- 13:21experiment and try things. I think right now in this day
- 13:25and age and it's it's even something I'm struggling with
- 13:27cuz I'm I'm in my mid 30s and everything I watch like I'm
- 13:30always watching these videos and you hear these people and people
- 13:32like yo you don't figure life out until your 40s.
- 13:34Like your your 20s is your figure out, your 30s is what
- 13:37you're starting to put together and the 40s is when it clicks.
- 13:39I don't know how true that is but we live in the day and age
- 13:42now. We're where people, where we're
- 13:44setting expectations for 18 to 20 to 25 year olds to just hit
- 13:49life running and not have that trial period of figuring shit
- 13:53out and failing and and doing that.
- 13:55Everyone's expected to just be good and be on top of your level
- 13:59at such an early age and it's so unrealistic to put on people
- 14:03like that. And it's just a it's such an
- 14:04expectation that's so harmful for this generation.
- 14:08And that's why I think the depression and anxiety, all that
- 14:11stuff is so sky high is because it's like it's OK to fuck up.
- 14:14It's OK to suck at something. It's OK to fail because success
- 14:19is you just standing on the top on top of your mountain of
- 14:22failures. So the fact that your mom gave
- 14:24you that advice, like go and figure it out.
- 14:26And if it sucks and you're not good at it, at least you have it
- 14:29in your back pocket to say I gave it a shot.
- 14:31So that's that's I think that's huge character building for you
- 14:34and probably why you are the way you are right now.
- 14:36It it it was really like like one of the things that that that
- 14:40definitely gave me that try stuff like if somebody gives me
- 14:44an idea even like in the raid, I will I will have my thoughts on
- 14:48it, but I will listen to it and I'll give it a shot of like OK
- 14:53this. This sounds like this maybe
- 14:55isn't the plan. And then sometimes it surprises
- 14:57me. Sometimes I'm like, you know
- 14:58what, Like, let's try it like? And that really stems from that
- 15:02moment of her being like, you just need to try stuff like
- 15:06don't be so closedminded, Like, don't believe that this choice
- 15:09you made has to be the choice you always make.
- 15:14Like just really understanding that of like things change like
- 15:19you. One day you're you're wanting to
- 15:22be a graphic design major, and the next day you don't.
- 15:25And then your whole life changes and you figure you figure that
- 15:28out. And then you you keep going and
- 15:32no balls. And through theater, getting
- 15:37into theater, because I ended up getting into that show.
- 15:42Through getting into theater, I became much more comfortable
- 15:44with wrestling, because this was the time in which I was kind of
- 15:46disconnected from wrestling. In high school I got bullied for
- 15:51for liking wrestling and I was one of those kids that's like,
- 15:54if this is the issue, if this is if this is what's getting me
- 15:59picked on, I just throw this away.
- 16:02Obviously that's changed a lot in my life now.
- 16:05Like if if you don't like me for something like sounds like a new
- 16:07problem, yeah. But at the time, yeah, the kid
- 16:15kids were brutal. And so.
- 16:19But through theater, I I just became more comfortable with who
- 16:23I was of, like I really got to, you know, I got to be a bunch of
- 16:28these characters that were sometimes me, sometimes similar
- 16:32to me, sometimes not so similar to me.
- 16:34And through that I was able to just, like really figure out who
- 16:38I was. Because I I personally feel like
- 16:41when you're acting, it's a lot easier to act when you know how
- 16:45to separate yourself from the thing, while also like.
- 16:49Being able to to connect with that thing, so like knowing
- 16:56yourself is is important so that you can disconnect and connect
- 17:00to the part that you're going to play.
- 17:03And so through doing that, I just, I I got back into
- 17:08wrestling I and specifically ROH really like Adam Cole
- 17:16specifically. I was getting into Beibei
- 17:22wrestling and I was like, I stumbled across Final Battle,
- 17:28Adam Cole versus Kyle O'Reilly, absolutely nuts.
- 17:32And I was talking to my dad and he was like, did he wrestling
- 17:38lately? I guess like he just picked up
- 17:41on the idea that like it was something that meet him
- 17:44connected with when I was younger.
- 17:47And I And I was like, yeah, like, I actually am.
- 17:51I'm watching this guy named Adam Cole.
- 17:52He's in ROH. Fun fact, I didn't know that he
- 17:56had just left ROH. But my dad was like, you should
- 18:00watch the NXT Takeover from this past weekend.
- 18:03And I'm like, OK, I guess I'll watch it.
- 18:05And so I watched the whole thing.
- 18:06I'm like, why am I watching this?
- 18:08And then the very end of the show, Drew McIntyre wins.
- 18:11And I'm like, oh, that's Bobby Fish and Kyle O'Reilly And then.
- 18:17All of a sudden, Adam Cole comes out and I'm like, that's Adam
- 18:20Cole. Adam Cole and Kevin Owens are my
- 18:23two favorite wrestlers on the planet right now.
- 18:25And then I just, I was like, all right, I guess I gotta watch NXT
- 18:29every week pool. And then that happened, and then
- 18:34Ovid happened and the like around that time period a little
- 18:43before that. Johnny Gargano versus Adam Cole.
- 18:46Two out of three falls, which two out of three falls is my
- 18:49favorite stipulation, just to throw that out there.
- 18:56And yeah, just then that's when it kind of clicked.
- 19:01I was asked a question by by a former partner of mine and she
- 19:07was just like, hey, what are some things that like what is
- 19:10the dream that you had that you didn't?
- 19:12Get to do and I was like, well when I was a kid, like and even
- 19:15through my teens like I wanted to be a professional wrestler.
- 19:18And she was like, why not? And I didn't have a good answer
- 19:20outside of money. And I kind of come to that
- 19:25realization of like, if money is the answer.
- 19:28I think there's a like like. I think if we can stick to it
- 19:31and focus, I think we can figure it out.
- 19:34Like if money is the only reason I'm not doing something, I can
- 19:38figure out how to make this work.
- 19:40Might take time. Might.
- 19:42Whatever, and it did it. It ended up taking like a year
- 19:45basically for me to move up here but get training, which I guess
- 19:56goes into that part of the question begins.
- 19:57Training Where are you originally from?
- 20:01I'm from North Carolina. OK, I was born in Philadelphia,
- 20:05PA My mom and my grandpa lived here a lot.
- 20:08And when I was born, my mom and my dad moved down to North
- 20:12Carolina. OK.
- 20:14So when you were you grew up North Carolina and then when you
- 20:16started your training you moved back to P A I moved back up here
- 20:19because my grandpa owns a owns a house here.
- 20:24This is where I'm staying. So I don't have to pay rent.
- 20:28So it makes it's very helpful and so that was kind of the
- 20:33idea. And then around here you, you
- 20:36know, you had wrestle Factory, the Worldwide Dojo, all of that.
- 20:41And I began training with Sonny Defarge, like I told you
- 20:48earlier, Love that guy. So talented, so insanely
- 20:51talented. More people need to be aware of
- 20:53something to find possible guests coming up on the podcast.
- 20:55Just pull that out there. I wish more people knew of his
- 21:00talent and his gift and he's just, he's very, very great
- 21:04human. And then and then of course, I
- 21:08ended up beginning to be trained by Cheeseburger who wow,
- 21:16Cheeseburger is literally insane.
- 21:19He he has helped me out immensely over the last two
- 21:22years. And through him is How I Met
- 21:27Speedball. And then I began training with
- 21:30Speedball Mike Bailey, who? He's he's insane.
- 21:36He's so good. I had the the immense honor and
- 21:42privilege to wrestle him at the Last Fighter Tainment Show.
- 21:45Stole the show, thank you. And it was like one of those
- 21:50moments where that was almost the well that that was a level
- 21:56up match for me, even if it wasn't on the ring.
- 21:59But there was a match that I had prior to that, like we'll get to
- 22:03in a little bit that that really I feel like set me up to be
- 22:07prepared for that match. If that fighter entertainment
- 22:11would have ended with you versus speedball and that would have
- 22:13been the go home match, nobody would have ever set with that.
- 22:15I don't think so either. And I also think they wouldn't
- 22:18have been upset because we probably would have added
- 22:20another like 5 to 10 minutes on it.
- 22:22Yeah, that way it was really there was not a bad match.
- 22:25That entire show, every match was our.
- 22:27Every fight, or however you want to lay it out, was highly
- 22:31entertaining. And it was good, but it was also
- 22:34because the fans were giving someone energy as well.
- 22:36So it was, it was really fun to feed off of.
- 22:38But yeah, you guys killed it. Like, I was like, wow, that was
- 22:41really good. Yeah, I just.
- 22:46And speedball has been helping me out a ton.
- 22:49Like through speedball, I've gained like just really strong,
- 22:53solid connections with people like Jordan Oliver, which.
- 22:59The future of professional wrestling.
- 23:00Jordan Oliver. That's.
- 23:02There's no doubt about it. Like him and Nick Wayne are the
- 23:05next thing. Like that's you're going to be
- 23:07talking about them in 20 years, being like the same way we talk
- 23:09about Adam Cole and everybody else.
- 23:11Jordan, to me, I'm a huge Shawn Michaels fan and every single
- 23:14time you talk about professional wrestling, you say who's the
- 23:17next this or who, who could be the net.
- 23:19And everyone says Shawn. And you have the guys like the
- 23:21Cole, like Jordan Oliver could be the next Shawn Michaels for
- 23:25sure, and he would love that. You said that because it's one
- 23:29thing. I have a whole shelf of Shawn
- 23:31Michaels right here. He's basically trying to be the
- 23:34next Shawn Michaels. And he says he's so talented,
- 23:37he's very good at and I've been learning from him just like kind
- 23:41of sitting under his learning tree and helping.
- 23:43He has helped me out so much and he's just so giving.
- 23:46And what's so cool about Jordan is like, even though he's
- 23:55obviously so much further into his career than I am, it's cool
- 23:59that it at least seems and feels as if he's, like, taking
- 24:03thoughts from me of like, he'll ask for an opinion and I'll tell
- 24:07him and like, he accepts it instead of, like trying to fight
- 24:12on it and basically tell me that I'm a I'm a greenhorn, you know?
- 24:16He's very humble and I think that's what sets him apart, is
- 24:18how much he absorbs from everybody around him.
- 24:20And he, he knows what works for him and what doesn't.
- 24:24And it's like, oh, you're giving me this thought.
- 24:27Maybe I try it and we'll see what happens.
- 24:30And like, it's just so cool to see because there's a lot of
- 24:33people in this, there's a lot of people in this industry that
- 24:37that are not that way, that don't listen to you at all and
- 24:43think that their word is is God's.
- 24:45And it's that's kind of, that's sad.
- 24:50I feel bad for you. But then you have people like
- 24:53Jordan and you have people like Speedball who are just they
- 24:57grief of wisdom and they want to gain wisdom as much as give
- 25:02wisdom. And so it's it's really sick to
- 25:07just be around those people. That's a that's a that's a
- 25:11that's a crazy Mount Rushmore of people.
- 25:13You've been under the sunny cheeseburger Jordan and and and
- 25:18speedball Mike Bailey. I mean that's that's iron.
- 25:20Sharpens iron to its full extent.
- 25:22Right there. Trying very hard, yeah.
- 25:24Yeah. It show.
- 25:25It shows them who you are as a person and when you do perform
- 25:28in front of people now and the crazy thing is, is the two
- 25:31things that you could probably benefit the most in this
- 25:33business, graphic design when it comes to your merch and your
- 25:35logos, but also the acting side of things in the theater side of
- 25:39things, because how you were saying before, a lot of people
- 25:41don't they they they're. So.
- 25:43Involved in what? Getting to their next spot.
- 25:45Getting to the next point of the the match, point of the match.
- 25:49But you look at people like your cheeseburgers, your sunnies and
- 25:51your speedballs. Who are all those people too who
- 25:54are like, wait a second. If they do what you gotta do,
- 25:56but then play to the crowd, you know what I mean?
- 25:58Sell that character. Sell the story of the match and
- 26:01I and and that's super important as business.
- 26:03And it's it's an art that's when it's done right.
- 26:05It's it's praised but when it's not done right it's one of the
- 26:09biggest critiques of this business right now.
- 26:11It's also it it is also really hard to do that.
- 26:15Like really hard to be like all right I gotta be ready for this
- 26:19Rana. But also not show the audience
- 26:23that I'm preparing for this Rana And that's just it's difficult
- 26:29because like you're you're trying to make sure that you get
- 26:31the spots right and like it's it's it's hard and and.
- 26:37I don't know how you do it. I watch people put together
- 26:39matches and they talk about and you only have 1015 minutes
- 26:43because independent wrestling is not like what you watch on TV
- 26:46where they probably go over a match and do it on house
- 26:48circuits and and house shows for a month before they hit a
- 26:51pay-per-view and then they finally hit everything together
- 26:53on the pay-per-view. Independent wrestling is
- 26:55essentially an open mic night of at a bar.
- 26:58You know what I mean? Like you're not prepared for
- 27:00your song, your your band still trying to get itself together.
- 27:03And you're you're figuring out within 15 minutes, have to have
- 27:05everything planned. A lot of it's on the fly and you
- 27:08have to still play to the crowd, but also you have to protect
- 27:11yourself and your opponent. So both you just go home that
- 27:13night. It's a lot to this business,
- 27:14which is super impressive that when you break it down and think
- 27:17about it, yeah. And I think it's really cool cuz
- 27:20I have like a couple of examples of that.
- 27:21Cuz at Limitless. I I ended up getting there a
- 27:24little late. And so I basically just had to
- 27:26kind of like know my stuff. And they were just like, hey we
- 27:30have we have the structure. You kind of just got a plug and
- 27:33play. And I was like, all right.
- 27:36Luckily, I know my stuff and I did and it was really cool
- 27:39because like, we were just able to bust it out like, because
- 27:42sometimes like, so no. That's just the easiest thing of
- 27:46like, hey, I we we have the story.
- 27:50What do you do? And as long as you know what you
- 27:52do, you you got it. And it's like, it's there.
- 27:57And my my whole point with the limitless thing, I was like, I
- 28:00want to tell a small little story.
- 28:02I want to try to pick up the biggest guy in the match.
- 28:05Can't do it. All right.
- 28:06Cool. I'm going to kick him and he's
- 28:08going to bounce off the ropes and then I'm going to pick him
- 28:11up And then like, I just that small little story is the fatal
- 28:164 way. How can they Remember Me?
- 28:19What they're going to remember is I couldn't pick up this guy.
- 28:21And they all laughed at me. And then I hit him.
- 28:24He bounces off the ropes. I pick him up.
- 28:26And they're just like, oh, my God.
- 28:28Like, that's all it took. And I like, literally, they were
- 28:30like, what all do you want? Like, what do you want to do?
- 28:33And I was like, I was like, where is my spots at?
- 28:37And they're just like, here, here, here and here.
- 28:39And I was like, OK, here, I'll do this.
- 28:42Here, I'll do that. And for this part right here,
- 28:46I'll tease the rolling DVD. No, no, no.
- 28:51You throw me out, I'll slide under your line, come up
- 28:54spinning back, he'll kick, wow, you bounce off the ropes, pick
- 28:58you up all the way rolling DVD and that's basically it.
- 29:01And right when I like, I'm, I'm telling you it was, I was
- 29:05literally, I was sitting there the whole match and I'm like,
- 29:07man, I do not think they're biting on me.
- 29:09I don't think they care all that much.
- 29:12And then I, I went for the DVD the first time, everybody
- 29:16started laughing. And I was like, Oh yeah.
- 29:20I was like, I think I got you. And then I hit it.
- 29:22I hit the kick loud. You hear some people go ooh,
- 29:25ooh, ooh. And then he bounces off the
- 29:28ropes. I get him all the way up.
- 29:30And I pause. I had it was, I was like, I
- 29:35could feel it. Everyone could feel it.
- 29:37I I hit Andy with the rolling DVD and he goes, you got him.
- 29:41And I was like. You know, it's crazy advice that
- 29:46I hear all the time, given to wrestlers and I am implemented
- 29:49in the podcast game. I implemented in commentary and
- 29:53it's funny that it's meant for something else, but I take it
- 29:55and use it for myself is when you think you're going slow,
- 29:59slow down and go slower because in your mind is so racing on
- 30:05getting everything done and making sure you're doing a good
- 30:06job. Slow yourself down and collect
- 30:09it and feel it. And then go like, even with the
- 30:11podcast, I feel like a lot of people rush through their
- 30:14questions and they don't listen to their guests and stuff like
- 30:16that. Because in your mind, you're
- 30:17you're freaking out, you know what I mean?
- 30:19But just slow down, let it come to you, you know what I mean?
- 30:22And and that's that's that's a wrestling advice that I hear
- 30:25given to wrestlers that I use and has nothing.
- 30:27It's like a completely same thing but different you know and
- 30:32and I think like with that with the slowing down part, I think
- 30:39it it it's beneficial to know what you are trying to tell.
- 30:44What story are you trying to tell.
- 30:47Do you know that it like if if you just put a match together
- 30:50and you're like, I just want this to be a cool match for like
- 30:52we hit each other really hard and stuff, cool it'll it'll be
- 30:55that. But if you're like OK, I know
- 31:00that parts A through D of what I have don't really matter.
- 31:06I have them in because I needed spots, but E&FE&F is what A
- 31:14through D are leading to. And then I just, I play and I
- 31:19ease into E&F and then E you're feeling something because now
- 31:26you're laughing at me. You don't think I can pick this
- 31:30guy up? OK, cool.
- 31:32Just wait. Wait for it.
- 31:36FI got him up and it's just it's it's taking that and being
- 31:40patient because I was nervous. I was so worried, dude.
- 31:43I really was like, I was hearing them, like there were points in
- 31:46the match where I was like kind of getting booed because I guess
- 31:49they just thought I was like, you know, I was a white meat
- 31:50baby face and sometimes you just get booed as a white meat.
- 31:55Baby face, we're in the era. We're in the heel era right now.
- 31:59It's Everybody wants to be the heel and everybody wants to be
- 32:01the cool heel. I love being heel.
- 32:03And you know, in Pittsburgh, that's my thing, the new king of
- 32:08Pittsburgh, Junie Underwood, the Pyro Prince, because I beat MV
- 32:12Young writing his noggin and took his crown.
- 32:20But yeah, I was so nervous. But I was just like, I know
- 32:26where I want to go, I know where we want to go.
- 32:29And I know that this is going to be like, I know that that story
- 32:33is going to be told. And then it felt really good to
- 32:36like hear that pop, hear that feel.
- 32:38And then everybody after the match was just like, that was so
- 32:41good, like, wow. And that they were just like
- 32:45commenting on my facial expressions and like I sold some
- 32:48merch, which always means something, right.
- 32:51Yeah. So it turned into a good thing
- 32:54and all that was was patience of just listening, listening to
- 32:57things that I was told by Jordan Sunny speedball burger of just
- 33:02like you know the story. You just gotta be patient.
- 33:07Don't rush the story, let it. You're building like everything
- 33:11builds. And you know who's really,
- 33:14really talented? That too.
- 33:15And I didn't realize. I always watch this stuff and I
- 33:18was always impressed by him. But seeing him live and and
- 33:21talking to him and really picking his brain.
- 33:23Joey, Joey, Janelle isn't incredible.
- 33:26With that, there's for someone who can just when you talk about
- 33:29slowing down and playing to a crowd, but still doing
- 33:32everything you need to do in a match.
- 33:33He's honestly one of the goats at it right now.
- 33:36He's so good, he's so talented and I I think one of the coolest
- 33:40things, and he is I I've heard him kind of talk about another
- 33:42podcast and other forms of media, but the A EW thing for
- 33:46him was like, he kind of went in with a mindset of like, I'm the
- 33:49king of this shit. Then a EW kind of brought him
- 33:52down and like humbled him a bit and then he was just like he had
- 33:54to regroup. And this new version of Janella
- 33:56Post a EW is the best version I've ever seen of him.
- 34:00And yeah, he's he's on a tear. Yeah, he's so good.
- 34:04So, so good. So the name Junie Underwood in
- 34:08this character, Where did you pull from this?
- 34:10How did this, how did this come out?
- 34:12So Junie is is, is. Well, Junius is my name, my real
- 34:19name, and when I moved up to Philly began just going by
- 34:26Junie. And then Underwood is is kind of
- 34:31an homage to Dax Harwood Cuz when I was young my dad was a
- 34:38janitor for for a high school. And as a janitor you're usually
- 34:44in charge of like helping with any events that happen at your
- 34:47school on the weekends. And there was this small little
- 34:54indie fed that I guess is no longer around.
- 34:56I've looked and it's not a thing anymore.
- 34:58It's Atlantic Coast Pro Wrestling A/C PW and at the time
- 35:04there was these, there was this really cool wrestler by the name
- 35:07of Casey McKnight and he was there early, he was stretching,
- 35:13he was doing everything. And I was there early, and I
- 35:16helped. I helped them to assemble the
- 35:18ring. It was really cool.
- 35:19I was only like, 9. And after we assembled the ring,
- 35:27Casey McKnight was rolling around.
- 35:29But also there were like, some of us kids in there.
- 35:31And he was just, like, so confident.
- 35:34And he was like, hey, like, I'll take care of your kid.
- 35:38And it was more just like, he sat me on like the top rope.
- 35:41Or he asked us what we wanted to do.
- 35:42And I was like, I want to do a tornado GDT.
- 35:44So he like put me on the top rope set himself up, did the
- 35:47whole tornado DDT and that was Dax Harwood Casey McKnight and
- 35:57and so I kind of was just like thinking as I was coming up with
- 36:00a name I was like. You work Dax Harwood as a kid.
- 36:03You bad? Basically, yeah.
- 36:06You know who I wrestled as a kid in a fire in a in a Firehouse.
- 36:11Engine room where no trucks were parked because it was the show
- 36:14happened at our local high school.
- 36:15My dad's a firefighter. And then after the show they all
- 36:18went to the Firehouse to get away from like the public and
- 36:20then go to the bar and drink at the Firehouse.
- 36:22And my dad was like, I know the Firehouse.
- 36:24I'll bring him in. And I I guess that he says like,
- 36:27hey, my kids here is a huge wrestling fan.
- 36:29Could anyone come out and talk to him?
- 36:31And everyone kind of looked over the shoulders like, Bah, I kept
- 36:33drinking and one guy got up from the bar and came out and hung
- 36:36out with me and wrestled around me in the interim.
- 36:37That was King Kong Bundy. It was awesome.
- 36:44But that, yeah, that was it. I was like, OK, put in there
- 36:49somewhere. And then I was like, I was
- 36:51flirting around with the fire starter, getting in and I was
- 36:54like Underwood, maybe adding the wood with the whole fire starter
- 36:59thing. And then yeah, I just, I decided
- 37:04on Underwood. And then my mom, the first thing
- 37:06she said was like Carrie Underwood and I was like, shit.
- 37:13You're ruined, but I'll keep it because I like it and I don't
- 37:18know any other wrestler with. Joey, him, it said.
- 37:21King Kong Bunny is the reason I'm billed from Atlantic City.
- 37:23I love that guy. I miss him.
- 37:24He was so nice, bro. So the crazy part about that
- 37:27story too, is Sorry to cut you off there, but.
- 37:29My, like, my house is like 2 blocks away.
- 37:32And I was, I remember saying to him like all my cousins are are
- 37:35never going to believe that I'm doing this.
- 37:36And he's like, where are your cousins?
- 37:37Were they at the show? I'm like out, they're at the
- 37:39house because like my dad didn't want to bring a house like a
- 37:42train full of my little cousins down because there was a lot of
- 37:44us. And he's like, how far is it
- 37:46walking distance? And my dad's like, yeah, it's
- 37:48right around the corner and he's like, if you're cool with them
- 37:50you can leave him here with me go get the rest of the kids.
- 37:53And King and my dad went and got the rest of my cousins, and
- 37:55there's a whole photo of us like two kids on each arm.
- 37:58Want me on his shoulders? Three kids on his leg.
- 38:00And he's like just playing with a bunch of kids after after a
- 38:03show. And it's the guy who wrestled.
- 38:05He was on Wrestle Mania, you know what I mean?
- 38:06Like just he was, he was just a cool human being.
- 38:09He's one of the earliest memories I've ever had.
- 38:11Professional wrestling is King Kong Monday.
- 38:13But yeah, man, have have you ever met since then?
- 38:17Like becoming in the business? Have you ever met Dax at all?
- 38:20Speedball wrestled Dax at a Wrestle Cade last year and I was
- 38:26like so upset because I really wanted to do that.
- 38:30He he's a match I want to have before he he he leaves.
- 38:33But from what I've heard, I mean, him and him and Wheeler
- 38:37are kind of on their like, last thing.
- 38:42You know, yeah, they're they're both so, so good.
- 38:45Actually, I'm going to bring you something now that I know that's
- 38:47the thing I'm going to I I get those wrestling crates and I
- 38:51have an FTR patch, Like a patch. I'll bring it to you on on on on
- 38:55the Thursday show. Yeah.
- 38:57I'd appreciate that. That's pretty cool I didn't so
- 38:59that that there you go everyone the the Underwood is is a Dax
- 39:03Harwood reference. I like that I'd I just lost my
- 39:08train of thought there that that excited me so much Oh people
- 39:12that you've worked so far in your career that you real that
- 39:16stand out to you are moments that like.
- 39:19Maybe a match that you had that was at that clicking moment
- 39:21where you felt like you hit that next level.
- 39:22You said wrestling speedball at the brewery was one of them.
- 39:26What are some other moments in your career that you felt like
- 39:28you you hit another level or a stride?
- 39:31So the the first singles match that I had with MV Young was
- 39:38actually pretty insane. I think that was my like 50, mid
- 39:4750s in my matches. I'm currently at 88.
- 39:52I had 88 as my limitless debut. Wow.
- 39:57And that's all. Rustle You don't.
- 39:59You don't rustle like someone who is under 100 matches in
- 40:01their career so far. Thank you.
- 40:04Well, what's interesting is that number, the whole numbers of
- 40:09things is something that like kind of is interesting because I
- 40:13know people who have been wrestling for like 4 to five
- 40:16years that haven't had 88 matches.
- 40:20Because they only wrestle inside their 25 mile bubble of their
- 40:23house. But like, but like that.
- 40:24That's my point of like I on September 5th of last year I had
- 40:32my seventh match. It was hat when I debuted as the
- 40:35fire starter Judy Underwood and so since then I'm now 88.
- 40:41So I've had eighty. I've had 82 matches.
- 40:45Do you keep a journal or a book? I I that was something that I
- 40:50didn't know was a thing until I was almost a year and a half
- 40:53into my commentary thing. And then I'm like I'm already
- 40:55too far, too far gone at this point.
- 40:57I'm not going to start it now. But the person I heard say that
- 41:00they did that and it blew my mind that that he literally has
- 41:02every single match he's ever done is Ace Austin.
- 41:05And he almost lost in the house fire.
- 41:06And he was done at everything in his house that he would have
- 41:09lost. All that was the one thing that
- 41:10he was like my journal, because that has.
- 41:13From the day he trained on is all in there.
- 41:15I'm like that is such a cool idea as the journal.
- 41:18Like, it's so crazy. But that that that's been a big
- 41:23thing for me. Like I try.
- 41:25I make sure I write all of them down.
- 41:27And sometimes if I have time, I'll write some little like
- 41:30notes about it. But I I write them all down
- 41:38because, like, I never know. There there might be some.
- 41:42Like there's people that I see that I'm literally like, I think
- 41:45I only remember this person because I wrestled them and that
- 41:50tried to be me. It's just literally like you
- 41:52sometimes you you, you see somebody and you wrestle them
- 41:55and you don't see them for for a really long time.
- 41:59And then you see them and you're like, I know you somehow and
- 42:03you're like, that's right, I wrestled you.
- 42:07That happens. But yeah, that that match with
- 42:13MV Man, it was just really good. And then through that series
- 42:22that I had with him, because I've had, I think I've wrestled
- 42:28him more than I've wrestled anybody else at this.
- 42:30Point Yeah, wrestled MV a lot. We had a singles match, which
- 42:36was the first match I had at T2T, which was late March, early
- 42:41April, and that was my 50th match.
- 42:45And then I wrestled him singles in which he beat me, and then I
- 42:57we had A tag match which I beat him, and then I beat him.
- 43:03And then we had a third singles match in which we went to A time
- 43:09limit draw. And then we did a two out of
- 43:12three falls match in which I picked up the 1st fall, we
- 43:17picked up the 2nd fall, picked up the 3rd fall.
- 43:19That got reversed and I picked up the 3rd fall winning that
- 43:25series. And then that kind of started
- 43:27this little gimmick that I'm doing right now being the new
- 43:29king of Pittsburgh. Yeah, you know what?
- 43:32I I I always wanted to see done it as an angle.
- 43:35Is the two out of three falls right?
- 43:38But like, Envy's a big dude. So like the first time you you
- 43:41square up against them, two out of three falls, 2 falls, bang,
- 43:44you're done. Just smashes you and then you
- 43:47build back up and then have that two or three first match he just
- 43:51kicks. Just like first of all he just
- 43:52destroys you and everyone's like this is going to happen again.
- 43:55And then you sneak out a second fall, and that whole 3rd fall
- 43:57you have the whole crowd eating it because the story of the. 22
- 44:01out of three falls matches like him just destroying you and then
- 44:04you slowly working it back. I just like that you don't
- 44:06really see that very often in two or three falls.
- 44:08Like it's almost like an Ironman match.
- 44:10Like if you're a smart fan, you know the whole beginning of the
- 44:13Ironman match means nothing. The last 5-10 minutes is where
- 44:17the only target you have to really pay attention to.
- 44:19It sucks to say that, but if you're a smart fan, that's kind
- 44:21of like watching Brett Shawn and I'm a huge Shaw.
- 44:24Everything, everything's good, but you only really have to
- 44:27watch the the last segment but. Yeah, that's that's the two out
- 44:30of three falls. I feel like everyone's like, oh,
- 44:32you're gonna trade off for two and then the third is the one
- 44:34you pay attention to. But if you have a long term
- 44:36storytelling where the first one is like a completely a squash
- 44:39two out of three falls, I was like, what?
- 44:41Like, you don't see that very often.
- 44:42Yeah. And then it gets built up.
- 44:44Yeah. Yeah.
- 44:45I I've, I've thought of a bunch of different stories for two out
- 44:49of three falls matches, because that kind of is what I wanted.
- 44:51I want that to be a thing of mine for sure of just having two
- 44:55and three Falls matches because I like them.
- 44:59I'm surprisingly like I enjoy longer matches to just like hey.
- 45:07Joey's on the same page as me, but I I definitely want that to
- 45:18be a part of my my image of just be a two out of three falls guy.
- 45:23And a lot of that, I do think, is probably because I watched a
- 45:26lot of Motor City machine guns growing up.
- 45:30I think they've had easily the best 2O3 Falls matches.
- 45:39Just recently Bullet Club Gold and F TR2O3 was crazy.
- 45:45That match was awesome. One of my one of my favorite
- 45:51matches is 2O3 Falls Motor City versus Generation May.
- 46:01That match was awesome. Two out of three falls Motor
- 46:05City versus Beer Money. You haven't seen any of these.
- 46:10You should. You should go back and.
- 46:12They're really good, of course. The Johnny Gargano Adam called
- 46:16two out of three falls, the Paul London versus Brian Danielson of
- 46:25ROH. That match was awesome.
- 46:29Paul London. Also great human.
- 46:31Don't know if you've ever gotten a chance.
- 46:33No, I've never met him. I I did a seminar with him and
- 46:36I've. I met.
- 46:37I met Kendrick. He's awesome.
- 46:39I believe it kept in good touch with like Paul London, like him,
- 46:44and I message back and forth every so often.
- 46:46I check in on him and it's really cool.
- 46:49He he's really sweet, really cool dude.
- 46:51I've only ever had one bad experience.
- 46:53Meeting somebody, every person ever got a chance to work with.
- 46:56Like for a while there I was helping with this promotion.
- 46:58I was helping them do their meet and greets, and I would sit with
- 47:00talents for three or four hours and just hang out with them.
- 47:03Everyone I ever met was so dope. Like, even people.
- 47:05I was like, oh, this is going to be really like a I'm like kind
- 47:08of intimidated. I'm like, are they going to be
- 47:09in character the whole time? And they were super, like,
- 47:11everyone was super cool, right? Yeah.
- 47:13No, there's always, there's always people that really do
- 47:16surprise you. Like, I have a really, really
- 47:18fond memory of Jake's something because it was the first I I was
- 47:24a driver for this new Japan show a little over a year ago.
- 47:31I hadn't even debuted yet, I don't think and like, even in
- 47:35like a battle royal. But I drove Jake something and
- 47:40we were at this, like either Target or Walmart.
- 47:43I couldn't. I can't remember which one.
- 47:45Same thing. Yeah, and this, this guy looks
- 47:52at Jake something and it's like, wow, you're huge.
- 47:57And Jake's like, thank you. And he's like, what do you do?
- 47:59And he's like, I'm a wrestler and he was just like, what are
- 48:04you hanging around with these guys for?
- 48:05Like me, I'm like small and he's like, you look like a wrestler,
- 48:09but they don't. And I'm like, that's me and what
- 48:14we leave. And Jake goes, Jake literally
- 48:18goes, don't worry about that. And I'm like, yeah, like it.
- 48:25And whenever he said it, I was like, yeah, of course he like,
- 48:28you could say that. But then like, we got in the car
- 48:30and he was like, no, like, for real.
- 48:32Like you're young, you're just now starting.
- 48:36There's going to be a point where you start looking like a
- 48:39wrestler and that doesn't even mean you, you're super jacked.
- 48:43Like, I think now I've gotten to this point, when I walk into a
- 48:46place most people know, like I I give that energy now of like I
- 48:52have. I have kind of stepped into my
- 48:54own and like know where I'm at and what I'm doing.
- 48:58To bring them up again from the beginning, you know, who is that
- 49:01embodiment? Jordan.
- 49:03Yeah, Jordan was the scrawniest. Dude, no like 0.
- 49:06Confidence. And then like a lot of younger
- 49:09wrestlers who like are young and they can't put the muscle on,
- 49:11they can't put the size. And I'm like study Jordan, like
- 49:14just stick with it. And right now your body's not
- 49:16gonna develop cuz you're young and it's hard to put muscle mass
- 49:18on, but learn your craft so when your body catches up,
- 49:22everything's gonna fall in the place for you.
- 49:24And he's the perfect example of that.
- 49:26Oh, for sure. And like, I think it's just, I
- 49:29don't know, Jake, Jake saying stuff like that of just like
- 49:33don't worry about what the people are saying.
- 49:35It is something that is commonly said.
- 49:38But it just felt different. It it, it was one of those, like
- 49:40I really needed to hear that at that time.
- 49:42And so I always have like a super fond memory of Jake, of
- 49:47like, wow, like that guy was really sweet.
- 49:49Like, he was really cool, dude. Mike and Maria Bennett for me
- 49:52were the was a huge turning point of like how to take
- 49:55yourself seriously in this business and and fight for what
- 49:57you want. Yeah, but yeah, just having,
- 50:05having, having people in this business, people that you see
- 50:09and look up to, and you get to have a conversation with them.
- 50:13And sometimes that's like, all you really need to hear.
- 50:16Is this something decent from them.
- 50:21Yeah, like Adam, Adam Priest on Saturday.
- 50:23Like, I was stressing out, dude, because I left my wrestling
- 50:26shoes in Pittsburgh. I was in Maine and I was like,
- 50:31oh, my God, I left my shoes in Pittsburgh.
- 50:34I got here at 6:30. I'm kind of late.
- 50:38Like, obviously they all understood why I was late
- 50:41because picking up two stars. But like, you know, all these
- 50:46things were kind of going wrong. But after the match, Adam Priest
- 50:49was like, hey, like, can I talk to you?
- 50:51And I was like, yeah. And he was just like, you're
- 50:54really good. And I'm like, thank you.
- 50:57Like, like just that. Like you're pulling me aside and
- 50:59just being like you're, you're good.
- 51:01I can see it. Like I.
- 51:03And there was a point where we were calling the match and
- 51:06somebody walked by and was like, Jimmy's the man.
- 51:09And Adam Priest was just like, I can tell I can.
- 51:12I can see the way he calls this, like the way he's calling this
- 51:15match. I can tell he's good.
- 51:16And so just like having that moment of, like, all this stuff
- 51:20is kind of going wrong, but then I do the match.
- 51:24I do really well. And then have that kind of full
- 51:28circle of like, hey, hey kid, like you're doing great.
- 51:33Like, yeah, that's awesome. Well, we are at that 50 minute
- 51:36mark. If anyone has any questions in
- 51:37the chat, please get them in. And I don't want to keep this
- 51:40too too long. I'm having an absolute blast,
- 51:42bro. I've learned so much about you.
- 51:44I hope people learn some things here too.
- 51:45We have one thing in the chat here, Joey said.
- 51:47Speaking of doing what you want. Don't listen to old F's like me,
- 51:51fucks like me who aren't. Big into the Flippy stuff but do
- 51:55what works for you. If you do something flashy that
- 51:58costs the crowd, make a make a mental no.
- 52:00I agree. The flippy stuff is is is good,
- 52:03right? To an extent.
- 52:04That's the style of wrestling that's getting over now.
- 52:06But like I said, if, if, if you can incorporate the Flippy with
- 52:09the storytelling and crowd work like the old school people like,
- 52:12I think that's where you meet your perfect, your imperfect
- 52:14match and and and that and I think that's where you find the
- 52:17two come together very nicely. I'll have one last question here
- 52:21that we'll answer and if anything pops in the chat will
- 52:23end with that. But the biggest thing that will
- 52:26end with is the the stable. I think the biggest thing that I
- 52:29I don't, I don't think enough people are doing on the road now
- 52:32is and I I always credit it for me anyway the the people who I
- 52:36start seeing it do with the best and they've literally taken over
- 52:39the PW I500 with it and they're helping each other grow and
- 52:42getting themselves out there and they're doing storylines that
- 52:45cross promote get go cross promotions.
- 52:47The goons with Killian Mcmurphy big dust.
- 52:50All those guys just asked Miles morale, like all of them,
- 52:52they're just killing it. But they have this Erica Lee
- 52:55part of that. But they have this thing where
- 52:57their friends, it's almost like an independent click where their
- 53:00friends, they help each other through their good times, help
- 53:03each other through their bad times, but also help each other
- 53:05get booked and also put together storylines that are compelling
- 53:08that it's good enough that other promotions are willing to say,
- 53:10well, we'll take that storyline too and bring it here.
- 53:13And you guys are doing that with the with the the Lost Boys.
- 53:16The Lost Boys are a stable of really young.
- 53:19Hungry talent who are sticking together.
- 53:21Even even if you guys show up at a place and you're not the Lost
- 53:24Boys and you work separate angles and you all do your own
- 53:27character, the idea of what the Lost Boys are of traveling
- 53:30together, being there for each other, is really important.
- 53:32How did that come about? How did the name come about?
- 53:35And how important to you is that stable of the Lost Boys?
- 53:42Great questions. The so whenever it started Ethan
- 53:52and I, we kind of knew we wanted to be A tag team.
- 53:57We just we clicked very early on in training and then finally we
- 54:06got to this point where you know we we debuted for Progress and
- 54:09Magic. We didn't have a name yet.
- 54:11We were just Judy Underwood and Ethan wasn't even Ethan Promise
- 54:17at that point. He went by Ethan Novo, which I
- 54:19think he literally only did once.
- 54:23But watching the match back, we like listen to commentary and
- 54:29straight up whenever we come out commentary goes these boys look
- 54:33lost and we were like you might be on to something.
- 54:40And I always, I've always been that kind of kid kind of grungy
- 54:45a little. Like I I like that kind of
- 54:48darker stuff. So like I love the lost voice.
- 54:51Like the the vovy. Obviously Peter Pan was always a
- 54:56big influence of mine. I've I've enjoyed Peter Pan a
- 55:00lot. You.
- 55:01Have a little Peter Pan look going on.
- 55:03Well The thing is I I have played Peter Pan in a couple of
- 55:08thing anyway I have had, I have also been Peter Pan for
- 55:11Halloween on multiple occasions. But we kind of just it felt like
- 55:18it clicked because we didn't have a home promotion.
- 55:21We had nothing that like was a home and we were always
- 55:24traveling from point A to point B trying to just get something
- 55:28going. And so there was literally just
- 55:32a point where like we all just kind of felt like we were like
- 55:34lost, but we just had each other.
- 55:36And Ryan joined us, like because Ryan trained with us as well.
- 55:45You're like Ryan's going to all these places with us and then
- 55:48Miles is going to all these places with us.
- 55:51So like, I think this is the group.
- 55:56Like this is the, this is the the group.
- 55:58And sometimes it's a little difficult because they're
- 56:01they're still living regular life.
- 56:04Like they're all three in school in some way, shape or form.
- 56:08Ryan is a lawyer. Miles and Ethan are in college.
- 56:16So a lot of it does kind of feel like I'm the the, the, the guy
- 56:20kind of kind of being on his own and doing his thing.
- 56:23And then But when we are together, it is it.
- 56:28It's insane. Like literally the energy that
- 56:30all four of us have when we're together.
- 56:33It's unmatched. Like, I I don't know if I've
- 56:35ever felt like more at home. Like when us four are just
- 56:42chilling, like going on a car ride, going to Magic, going to
- 56:48wherever. And we're just laughing and you
- 56:53know we're we're we're hoping for this big opportunity that
- 57:00may be coming up that I'll tell you, I'll tell you more about
- 57:03when we're not live that could be really helpful for us as a as
- 57:08a stable and some people don't think we should be a stable,
- 57:11some promoters are. Strongly disagree I I do too.
- 57:14Some promoters are like you should split up.
- 57:17There's too many of you because if if 1/2 of you have to pull
- 57:21off the show, the other half also has to pull off the show.
- 57:23Well, sometimes that's not the case.
- 57:26But in some cases it's like, hey, sorry, this is the, this is
- 57:31the potential issue. But that's kind of their thought
- 57:36of like Ethan and Junie get pulled off the show, Ryan Miles
- 57:41has to get pulled off the show. And I was like, no, no, no.
- 57:43That doesn't have to always happen.
- 57:45Like if we for whatever reason get booked at GCW and Ryan Miles
- 57:50is booked for this other indie, like they don't have to to pull
- 57:54off of that show just because we're not going.
- 57:56Like we're supporting them and they're supporting us.
- 57:59That's just kind of the case. And sometimes if we need to do
- 58:03stuff and all four of us need to do it, then sure, maybe all four
- 58:06of us have to pull off that show.
- 58:08And maybe that's not a good time.
- 58:10And hopefully we can have a conversation about it and try to
- 58:15figure out a way that we can work it all out.
- 58:18Because at the end of the day like we have to we have to think
- 58:21about like what's going to be the most beneficial, what's
- 58:26going to like really help us and and and propel us so that we can
- 58:31kind of get what we want out of this thing.
- 58:34And that is just tell tell stories in front of as many
- 58:37people as possible and we want to do it together.
- 58:39Like we really do like as much as like I like if if you look at
- 58:44match wise I've had over 30 matches more than the other lost
- 58:47boys. Like I'm I'm moving, moving,
- 58:51moving, moving. But I know they support me so
- 58:54much and I support them with every opportunity that they get
- 58:57as well. But like, I've even told them I
- 59:02was like, yeah, having all these matches is cool, but like, I do
- 59:05wish y'all were with me, like things like that.
- 59:07Like I I genuinely am. Like it's so easy for us to just
- 59:13be a group. Like, like, I don't know, when
- 59:16we're together, it is just so easy for us.
- 59:18To be well, here's a here's a possible point.
- 59:20And this, I think, makes the the stable to me.
- 59:24What I, which I love about the stable and the reason I I
- 59:26gravitate to it, is because. When you go to a show and you
- 59:31travel and you're by yourself and you're in a locker room and
- 59:33you may not know many people or you may not have that
- 59:35comfortability. When you roll up in a car full
- 59:37of people and you like and you roll up to a place and there's
- 59:40already four or five of yous that are comfortable with each
- 59:43other and you go into a show, I feel you perform differently.
- 59:47When you're with your boys who are also on the show, are not
- 59:50even on the show but being there, then you would be if you
- 59:52just showed up by yourself and you have to work.
- 59:54And and and I've seen you perform by yourself or maybe
- 59:58with one other member, but then I've seen you perform at that
- 1:00:00show with all four years were there and you you said you're
- 1:00:04you're 30 matches ahead of the other four.
- 1:00:06But all every member of that stable, even though they weren't
- 1:00:09billed as The Lost Boys, all went out there and were
- 1:00:13memorable. For every, every single one of
- 1:00:16them left that show and everyone's like, yo, I'm gonna
- 1:00:17remember you, you were the one who was the crazy tie on your
- 1:00:20thing, crazy going, you know, I mean, like, everyone stood out
- 1:00:23in that stable. And I think that's what's also
- 1:00:25important in this business because this, this business is
- 1:00:28not just hard on your body and not hard on the travel, but like
- 1:00:31mentally, if you don't have a friend in this business or you
- 1:00:33don't have someone you can like, vent to and just be like, I'm
- 1:00:36frustrated, I'm pissed. I want to quit and those friends
- 1:00:39to be like, yo, stay together, let's do this.
- 1:00:42That's that's why this stable I think is really good because you
- 1:00:44can just see without even me talking, you guys are knowing
- 1:00:48about what you talk about in the car on the way there, you can
- 1:00:50see that you guys lift each other up and it's it's very
- 1:00:53important. And the idea of the name Lost
- 1:00:55Boys, that's a thing in the in the in the storybooks and the
- 1:00:58Disney movies that like, they stand out because every single
- 1:01:01member of the Lost Boys, you watch them.
- 1:01:02Like I can relate to that character because he has a look
- 1:01:04that I like or this one represents this or this one
- 1:01:06represents that. And you guys all have that
- 1:01:09really youthful appearance and is like never get old, stay
- 1:01:12young at heart, let's have fun. And I don't know, that's what I
- 1:01:14get out of the group. I hope that's right.
- 1:01:16I hope that's what you're trying for, but yeah.
- 1:01:18I mean it's it's funny because we all kind of have this we
- 1:01:22we've been compared to the Ninja Turtles a little bit like I'm
- 1:01:29very much Raphael, like I I can very much be the Omega.
- 1:01:32But at the same time I'm the Big Brother.
- 1:01:34Like I will go to that for all three of them fast food and they
- 1:01:37can blink and that's like and. Like Ethan has that natural
- 1:01:41ability to talk to people very Leonardo, Like he's just has
- 1:01:47that. And then Ryan and Miles kind of
- 1:01:51flip flop between Donatello and Ryan is one of the funniest
- 1:01:55people I've ever met in my life. But he's also one of the
- 1:01:57smartest people I've ever met in my life and and so it's just
- 1:02:00like and then Miles he he can be similar.
- 1:02:04His like, it's just they they kind of flip flop between Mikey
- 1:02:08and and Donatella A lot. I'm a I'm a Casey Jones guy.
- 1:02:11That's my guy. I always grew up like, who's
- 1:02:13your favorite turtle? I'm like Casey.
- 1:02:14Casey. But Casey Jones's favorite
- 1:02:18turtle would be Raphael. So I got you dog.
- 1:02:20Yeah, they they they they beef and they vent.
- 1:02:25But they make each other better at the end of the day.
- 1:02:28And so like it it it's a really cool thing And I think one of my
- 1:02:32favorite things is like our little quote that we did, which
- 1:02:34is like a super easy go home line if like one thinks for
- 1:02:36certain law schools never die. Like, I think that's sick.
- 1:02:41And you can't kill these either, because your heart, your heart
- 1:02:43is like you said, your minds are stronger than your bodies.
- 1:02:45Minds is stronger than our bodies.
- 1:02:47Yeah, it's insane. And honestly, I feel like that's
- 1:02:51been like a story we've been, like, unintentionally telling in
- 1:02:53a lot of our matches, yeah. You'll see that like.
- 1:02:57Soon. Hopefully with like some of the
- 1:02:58matches that just haven't been. Definitely if you watch any of
- 1:03:02the captured Lightning matches like Through Burger with his
- 1:03:04Worldwide Dojo. If you haven't watched our
- 1:03:10Little Lost Boys saga, you should.
- 1:03:13It's a singles match between Miles and Ethan, and then A tag
- 1:03:16match with me and Ryan versus Miles and Ethan.
- 1:03:21And then? The fate of four way between all
- 1:03:24four of us. It's kind of like the the
- 1:03:27prequel, the kind of the the origin story of the Lost Voice I
- 1:03:31guess. Like as a whole, specifically
- 1:03:35the Lost Boys with their 4th member.
- 1:03:39It's that's the origin and that's through captioned
- 1:03:42Lightning. So lots of that.
- 1:03:44You should that another thing too.
- 1:03:46We'll kind of end here. I'm going to ask you real quick,
- 1:03:48what do you want to plug or you want to get out?
- 1:03:49We'll get you out of here, but please go if you are looking to
- 1:03:53be in this business, whether you want to be commentary or
- 1:03:56wrestler, even if you're like hey, I want to somehow be a part
- 1:03:59of this. But I don't think wrestling's
- 1:04:00for me. We always need cameraman, we
- 1:04:02need graphic designers. We need people that there's so
- 1:04:04many avenues and so many things you can do in a business or an
- 1:04:07industry or a field that you may not even think you'd be valued
- 1:04:10in but you would highly be valued in.
- 1:04:12But a great place. If you're in the Pennsylvania
- 1:04:15area, the the the Philadelphia area, hit up the Worldwide Dojo
- 1:04:18that the talent that is there right now and the people that
- 1:04:21are in that school are absolutely unbelievable.
- 1:04:23I've been fortunate enough to interview a few of them already
- 1:04:26on this podcast and that's I'm just scratching the surface.
- 1:04:28There's so many talented people there and it just if you haven't
- 1:04:33been there at all when you walk in the history of that building
- 1:04:37like when you train there and you're working there you're like
- 1:04:39man, the people who have come before me who have stepped in
- 1:04:43these walls. If these walls can talk man that
- 1:04:47that's got a on the wall. Yeah.
- 1:04:50Yeah it's it's it's it's I I always joke around I'm like if I
- 1:04:53was ever a student here I'd like Cheeseburger take my photo down
- 1:04:55because you see who else is up there.
- 1:04:57I don't belong to me here like, but it's please hit up the
- 1:05:01Worldwide Dojo like you said on their YouTube channel.
- 1:05:04They are doing a lot of stuff that you can watch and support.
- 1:05:07They they are a an amazing school and promotion and they're
- 1:05:11pumping out just amazing talent. Very good.
- 1:05:14It's a very good time. Anything else you want to plug
- 1:05:17or get out before we get out of here, Judy?
- 1:05:19No, I mean if if you want to buy any merch, Brain Buster, the
- 1:05:24link is below, link is below. And if you don't want to use the
- 1:05:29link and you just want to go on Brain Buster, you can just type
- 1:05:31in Judy Underwood. You can also type in the Lost
- 1:05:33Boys and Lost Boys merch will come up as well.
- 1:05:39And then, yeah, my Twitter handle.
- 1:05:42Well, my ex handle now I don't know.
- 1:05:45Whatever handle. Usually it's Junie Underwood Pro
- 1:05:50or Junie Underwood FS Pro. It's one of the two, yeah.
- 1:05:55So thank you very much for having me all.
- 1:05:57Thank you so much for doing this.
- 1:05:58Man, I hope. I like I said, I think this is
- 1:06:00really cool. We have to learn a lot about
- 1:06:01you. If you are free this this month
- 1:06:04on the 17th, come out to Pilgru Brewing Company.
- 1:06:07Tickets are on sale right now. Fighter Tainment 2 already
- 1:06:10announced Speedball, Mike Bailey and me.
- 1:06:17The three announcements I'm sure, I'm sure more to come.
- 1:06:20Last time we had, we had some really, really fun names.
- 1:06:23There really were cool people come out hang out have some good
- 1:06:25beers. It's it is an absolute blast.
- 1:06:28Get there early because it it is shoulder to shoulder and you
- 1:06:31will have an absolute. I'm telling you're going to have
- 1:06:33a really good time. Like I said, any other shows
- 1:06:36coming up, the people can come see you at.
- 1:06:40I wish I would have known to have my notepad out because
- 1:06:42maybe this Friday at the Sanctuary.
- 1:06:45Oh yeah, No. Friday at the Sanctuary, most
- 1:06:48likely. That is.
- 1:06:49That is most likely. I'm trying to.
- 1:06:51I do want to get up there. I really wanted to get there
- 1:06:54someday so that I could wrestle Ricky because that is a match
- 1:06:57that I think would kind of help both of us out a whole lot
- 1:07:01because we, Ricky, wrestled an impromptu match with Frankie
- 1:07:05Picard, which is really entertaining.
- 1:07:10But yeah, then I oh. This month, April 19th, Red Rose
- 1:07:17rumble in Lancaster at Oh yeah, at the Baseball field.
- 1:07:21Yes, I'm trying to remember that the name of the three Legacies,
- 1:07:27even though 3 Legacies. Wrestling Red Rose Rumble.
- 1:07:30But there's the it's it's not it's not Barnstormers.
- 1:07:33Maybe it is Barnstormer the the baseball team.
- 1:07:37Yeah. That show is going to be
- 1:07:41instinct. We're going to have.
- 1:07:43They're going to have the crowning of the first ever 3
- 1:07:46Legacies wrestling champ. I get to have a sweet Fatal 4
- 1:07:50way match against Prince Piranha, Monta, Kea and Facade.
- 1:07:58Yeah, that's going to be a really sick match.
- 1:08:02And yes, it's going to be really fun.
- 1:08:03It's a lot of cool stuff. Like Shannon Moore is going to
- 1:08:05be there, Dirty Dango Heath and Rhino.
- 1:08:10Like, there's going to be a lot of really cool names.
- 1:08:12I think it's Heath and Rhino versus South Phillies.
- 1:08:14Finest, I believe in attack, yeah.
- 1:08:16For sure. And then, yeah, and Ricardo is
- 1:08:20just killing it with three legacies.
- 1:08:22Have you seen the attendance in that places?
- 1:08:24They've been pointed out. They're killing it.
- 1:08:27I've I've been very lucky to to have become a regular at those.
- 1:08:32Yeah, if I still had a car I would have definitely been
- 1:08:35putting my name in to try to get some work there.
- 1:08:37But unfortunately I am out of a vehicle and I am stuck in these
- 1:08:40four walls. I can't travel anywhere, but if
- 1:08:42I can find a ride I will definitely come out and support
- 1:08:44and come and see the show. We'll have to.
- 1:08:46We'll have to figure that out. But everybody that gets a chance
- 1:08:50to for sure like, all right, well listen, that's going to do
- 1:08:56it for the ABJ podcast episode 72.
- 1:08:59We are back on Thursday at 7:00 o'clock and things are going to
- 1:09:05get weird and things are going to get creamy because the leader

- 1:09:41lot of big names waiting to see who else is coming on this
- 1:09:44month. It's it's, it's insane.
- 1:09:46And then I have a whole list full of people for the next
- 1:09:48month or two. I'm I'm really excited with the
- 1:09:51way this podcast is going. If you can support the Patreon
- 1:09:53is there right now Patreon just general support but it helps
- 1:09:56keep the lights on to pay for some things like stream yard and
- 1:09:59Canva that help things going. Tshirts and merch are available

- 1:10:13platform try to jump over to the YouTube side.
- 1:10:16I'm about halfway when it comes to my viewership to get
- 1:10:19monetized, and we're still on that quest for 1K followers.
- 1:10:22And if you want to listen to the podcast in your car, follow us
- 1:10:25on all major podcast platforms. Spotify, Apple, Google,
- 1:10:28iHeartRadio, Amazon Music, we're on all of it.
- 1:10:31Leave a review. Hitting a like and a share
- 1:10:33button on piece of content that people put their work into cost
- 1:10:37you nothing. But it literally can change
- 1:10:39someone's life because the more eyes on stuff, it helps more
- 1:10:42than you know. And that just any that's any
- 1:10:44content. If a wrestler posts a clip,
- 1:10:46share it because you never know who's going to see it and it
- 1:10:49can. It can help tremendously.
- 1:10:51But that's going to do it for the ABJ Podcast.
