- 0:00Speaker 1: I guess the game that you You've got a picture
- 0:02Speaker 1: on a dark board and you're throwing the knife at
- 0:04Speaker 1: the picture. Now I just take down the picture and
- 0:07Speaker 1: I put up the other picture, and I'm on the
- 0:09Speaker 1: other side of it. But the energy is exactly the same.
- 0:16Speaker 2: Welcome back to the Richard Sherman Podcast. I'm excited to
- 0:20Speaker 2: bring on an incredible guest. Five years in the NFL,
- 0:23Speaker 2: two hundred and sixteen tackles, seventeen sacks and two force
- 0:26Speaker 2: fumbles with the Dallas Cowboys. Now he's with the faithful,
- 0:29Speaker 2: the San Francisco forty nine ers. Please help me welcome
- 0:33Speaker 2: defensive tackle Osa a diggy Zoo. Appreciate you joining us,
- 0:37Speaker 2: brother man.
- 0:38Speaker 1: Appreciate you having me, bro.
- 0:41Speaker 2: It's my pleasure, man. So tell me how you're feeling. Obviously,
- 0:45Speaker 2: it's a big transition. You had just signed a big
- 0:48Speaker 2: extension for for eighty million dollars, four year, eighty million
- 0:52Speaker 2: dollar extension with the Cowboys, and then you get traded
- 0:54Speaker 2: to the San Francisco forty nine ers. It seems like
- 0:56Speaker 2: there's a bit of a regime change going on in Dallas.
- 0:59Speaker 2: Was it a surprise or what is it expected?
- 1:01Speaker 1: Them? I mean, I can't say it was like super unexpected,
- 1:08Speaker 1: like because you read a little bit of the writing
- 1:10Speaker 1: on the wall. I'm a very observant guy, you know
- 1:12Speaker 1: what I mean. So there's like there was some telltale
- 1:14Speaker 1: signs that it was a possibility, but like at the
- 1:16Speaker 1: end of the day, I was just like, ah, I'm
- 1:18Speaker 1: gonna just keep working and if it happens, something happens,
- 1:20Speaker 1: and it doesn't, I mean cool, you know, definitely. I
- 1:30Speaker 1: mean I'm there's still a mix of emotions. I'm not
- 1:34Speaker 1: gonna lie. I'm definitely happy to be here, you know
- 1:35Speaker 1: what I mean. It's a great team, Like had a
- 1:38Speaker 1: great time meeting my teammates, you know what I mean,
- 1:40Speaker 1: meeting the coaches, Glad to be here working with everybody.
- 1:42Speaker 1: It's a great organization from top to bottom. I feel
- 1:45Speaker 1: like it's definitely just a winning mentality over here. So
- 1:48Speaker 1: it's definitely it's cool to be a part of that
- 1:51Speaker 1: and go from one good organization to another one, you know,
- 1:55Speaker 1: and just being in a great splay, great space. I
- 1:58Speaker 1: feel like I'm part of the cavalry, you know what
- 2:01Speaker 1: I'm saying. Like I'm not coming to a place it's
- 2:03Speaker 1: like rebuilding anything at all, Like I'm just coming and
- 2:06Speaker 1: add into some a great team and a lot of
- 2:09Speaker 1: great players that's already here. So it's it's kind of awesome.
- 2:14Speaker 2: It's really awesome, and it's it's you know, there was
- 2:17Speaker 2: a bit of turmoil obviously between the San Francisco forty
- 2:20Speaker 2: nine Ers and the Dallas Cowboys, just some intense games,
- 2:23Speaker 2: you know, a bit of a rivalry that developed, and
- 2:25Speaker 2: we'll talk about that later.
- 2:26Speaker 1: But it's still human nature. You know, it's just human nature.
- 2:29Speaker 2: You go somewhere new, you know, you got to you
- 2:32Speaker 2: gotta find a new home, You gotta transport your family.
- 2:35Speaker 2: You gotta kind of turn your mind around because it's loyalty.
- 2:38Speaker 2: You know, you feel loyalty to the team that you've
- 2:40Speaker 2: been representing. You've been in the NFC East. You know,
- 2:42Speaker 2: you're battling the Philadelphia Eagles. You you locked into that mindset.
- 2:46Speaker 2: Now you got to learn to hate the Seattle Seahawks
- 2:49Speaker 2: and the LA Rams and you gotta get yourself in
- 2:52Speaker 2: that mindset. But like you said, it's still a great
- 2:55Speaker 2: organization and a great team to be a part of.
- 2:57Speaker 2: But who was the first forty nine Ers player or
- 3:00Speaker 2: a coach to reach out for you reach out to
- 3:02Speaker 2: you when when everything happened, I would say coach Kaserki
- 3:09Speaker 2: was the first one to reach out, the D line coach,
- 3:11Speaker 2: you know, he's a great dlone coach. He reached out
- 3:14Speaker 2: super happy, super excited, you know what I mean, And
- 3:16Speaker 2: everyone was super excited to have me.
- 3:18Speaker 1: So that was one thing that like in the moment,
- 3:20Speaker 1: obviously like there's herd there, but like one thing he
- 3:23Speaker 1: had the moment that I could definitely look at it
- 3:25Speaker 1: and be like, like gave me a lot of like
- 3:28Speaker 1: hope and happiness. I'm like, man, they're excited to have me,
- 3:30Speaker 1: So it's like I want to be in a place
- 3:32Speaker 1: where I wanted, you know what I mean. So when
- 3:34Speaker 1: they're to see them that excited to receive me and
- 3:36Speaker 1: stuff like that, it was it was dope.
- 3:39Speaker 2: Now, how how has been? Because I know Chris, Chris
- 3:42Speaker 2: is fantastic one of my favorite coaches. I love Chris
- 3:45Speaker 2: with all my heart. But he's been known to be
- 3:49Speaker 2: really great with with defensive linemen, you know what I mean,
- 3:51Speaker 2: Just such an attacking mentality. What have you gleaned from
- 3:54Speaker 2: him during just your first few weeks there?
- 3:57Speaker 1: Man, he's super intentional, Like he watched all of my
- 4:00Speaker 1: tape from last year and we sat down and we
- 4:01Speaker 1: talked about things like just a couple of simple things
- 4:04Speaker 1: like not trying to reinvent the wheel. And he's been
- 4:06Speaker 1: around like some of the best to ever do it,
- 4:08Speaker 1: so he studies the game a lot. So, like I said,
- 4:11Speaker 1: he watched all of my tape from last year and
- 4:13Speaker 1: like the last couple of years and sat down with
- 4:15Speaker 1: me and we're like, Yo, we're gonna work on these
- 4:16Speaker 1: things and this is what's going to help you improve
- 4:19Speaker 1: and take you to that next level.
- 4:21Speaker 2: And he has a plan in mind already. This this
- 4:25Speaker 2: D line is so it's a mix of veteran and
- 4:30Speaker 2: young guys. You know, you got Mikel Williams, you got
- 4:32Speaker 2: Alfred Collins, but then you got guys like Nick Bosa
- 4:36Speaker 2: who are veteran guys. Have you had a chance to
- 4:38Speaker 2: meet those guys and have conversations and what have those
- 4:41Speaker 2: conversations been?
- 4:42Speaker 1: Like? Yeah, I mean just me and it's pretty simple,
- 4:45Speaker 1: you know what I mean. It's kind of like just
- 4:47Speaker 1: regular like teammates getting to know guys, like asking where
- 4:50Speaker 1: everyone's from. Stuff like that. I mean, we've been in meetings.
- 4:53Speaker 1: I kind of asked like how Nick rushes, whether he's
- 4:56Speaker 1: like kind of a reactive rusher. He has more of
- 4:58Speaker 1: like a plan and stuff like that, just so I
- 4:59Speaker 1: can kind of get my mind and fitted around that.
- 5:01Speaker 1: And then other than that, just uh, you know, I
- 5:04Speaker 1: think the first weekend I was out there, we all
- 5:07Speaker 1: like barbecue. We went to Mikel's house. A lot of
- 5:09Speaker 1: guys were over there. He was building up ribs. I
- 5:11Speaker 1: made some burgers. Will Bradley King made some wings, and
- 5:16Speaker 1: you know, everyone just kind of pitched it. We just
- 5:18Speaker 1: ate watched the draft and you know, just building, building
- 5:22Speaker 1: that that bond.
- 5:24Speaker 2: That's important, uh, building the brotherhood, building that chemistry. Have
- 5:29Speaker 2: you had a chance to obviously you've had a chance
- 5:30Speaker 2: to talk to Kyle Shanahan. What did you What did
- 5:32Speaker 2: you think of him? Your first impressions versus what did
- 5:35Speaker 2: you think? You know, you have a you obviously have
- 5:37Speaker 2: an impression of guys before you get somewhere, and then
- 5:39Speaker 2: you meet him and you you know, sometimes it changes
- 5:42Speaker 2: the way you think about him.
- 5:44Speaker 1: I mean I didn't I didn't know too much about
- 5:46Speaker 1: him as a person. I just knew like from when
- 5:48Speaker 1: I heard I haven't heard any bad things about the
- 5:51Speaker 1: organization and the way he runs things over here, and
- 5:53Speaker 1: I'm like, they've been in like you know what I mean,
- 5:55Speaker 1: team was in the Super Bowl pass like tow to
- 5:59Speaker 1: past six. So I can look at that from the outside,
- 6:02Speaker 1: looking at it and be like doing something right, you
- 6:04Speaker 1: know what I mean. And now being on the inside,
- 6:06Speaker 1: I could see I can see what that is like
- 6:08Speaker 1: top to the bottom. We want to go into cafeteria, Like
- 6:11Speaker 1: they got everything that I need in there as far
- 6:12Speaker 1: as like you can you could do your dietary restrictions
- 6:16Speaker 1: without having to bring in outside food or anything like that,
- 6:18Speaker 1: like you can you can kind of you know, and
- 6:21Speaker 1: if I ask for something, they'll order it, like if
- 6:25Speaker 1: it's not there, they'll get it there fast, like whatever
- 6:27Speaker 1: you need, like and it's it's it's pretty it's pretty awesome.
- 6:31Speaker 2: Yeah, you know, I can't. I can say a lot
- 6:34Speaker 2: of positive things about San Francisco forty nine ers. I
- 6:36Speaker 2: got to be there for three years and enjoyed every
- 6:38Speaker 2: second of it. The training staff is great, the equipment
- 6:41Speaker 2: staff is great. What has been the biggest difference, just initially,
- 6:49Speaker 2: I guess between your time with the Dallas Cowboys and
- 6:52Speaker 2: you know, obviously you're talking about the dietary stuff, But
- 6:55Speaker 2: just in terms of I guess on the field meetings
- 6:58Speaker 2: because I just remember, I've only been of the Dallas
- 7:00Speaker 2: Cowboys facility once and it was so strange to me
- 7:04Speaker 2: because it's right there, smack dab in the middle of
- 7:08Speaker 2: like a a like a business center, Like there's office
- 7:13Speaker 2: buildings here, the fields like in the middle, and then
- 7:16Speaker 2: there it seems like there's other businesses around. And I
- 7:19Speaker 2: was like, I've never been part of a facility, you know,
- 7:21Speaker 2: I've only played with the Seattle Seahawks, San Francisco forty
- 7:24Speaker 2: nine ers and then the Bucks for a quick second,
- 7:26Speaker 2: But I had never been to a facility that had
- 7:28Speaker 2: other businesses in the same place the facility was in.
- 7:31Speaker 1: So that was just an adjustment.
- 7:33Speaker 2: But obviously there's been some much speculation about the San
- 7:36Speaker 2: Francisco forty nine ers and then the electrical you know
- 7:40Speaker 2: interference and you know the power plan over there. Did
- 7:43Speaker 2: that affect how you felt about this organization coming in
- 7:46Speaker 2: or did that cross your mind at all?
- 7:48Speaker 1: Definitely crossed my mind. I can't say for sure whether
- 7:51Speaker 1: it's true or not. I know that frequency are like
- 7:55Speaker 1: it's super important, you know what I mean, Like your
- 7:57Speaker 1: body's kind of like a giant antenna and looked at
- 8:00Speaker 1: some of the stuff with like the water when bro
- 8:02Speaker 1: was talking to the water and he froze it, and
- 8:04Speaker 1: like the snowflakes and the patterns and stuff like that.
- 8:06Speaker 1: So I know, like I can't say whether or not
- 8:10Speaker 1: like there's it's concrete, but I know like it's real,
- 8:14Speaker 1: you know what I mean. So I'm not sure how
- 8:16Speaker 1: to feel about it one way or the other. It's
- 8:18Speaker 1: it's there though, whether I like it or not. So
- 8:21Speaker 1: you know, I'm not really gonna let it get in
- 8:23Speaker 1: the way up or distract me from my work or
- 8:25Speaker 1: anything like that or like blame anything on it. Like
- 8:27Speaker 1: I know, I have a lot of recovery stuff at
- 8:29Speaker 1: my disposal. I'm gonna do everything that I can to
- 8:31Speaker 1: make sure I'm happy as I've always done. And then
- 8:33Speaker 1: God got me on the rest. You know, no question,
- 8:36Speaker 1: no question about that.
- 8:37Speaker 2: Have you had a chance to talk to Raheem Morris,
- 8:39Speaker 2: the defense coordinator, about you know, how they expect to
- 8:42Speaker 2: use you. You You've obviously been a well rounded and
- 8:45Speaker 2: balanced defense tackle during your time. You're a great pass rusher,
- 8:48Speaker 2: but you're also great against the run and very stout,
- 8:51Speaker 2: and you seem to be a hand and glove fit
- 8:54Speaker 2: for what they've done in the past. Has he talked
- 8:57Speaker 2: to you at all about that or you just kind
- 8:59Speaker 2: of doesness.
- 8:59Speaker 1: I mean, I've been sat down with him specifically about
- 9:03Speaker 1: about the things that we're doing. I just kind of like,
- 9:05Speaker 1: peep the way we've installed, the things that we're doing,
- 9:09Speaker 1: the identity that he's kind of established and we're establishing
- 9:14Speaker 1: as we're going about this, and you know, I'm excited.
- 9:16Speaker 1: I know it's a good scheme. I see some of
- 9:18Speaker 1: the tools that I'm going to be allowed to use
- 9:20Speaker 1: to make plays in the run game, and I'm excited
- 9:22Speaker 1: about that stuff. I feel like getting some handcuffs taken
- 9:25Speaker 1: off of me a little bit to be able to
- 9:26Speaker 1: to be able to kind of have one of the
- 9:29Speaker 1: better years that I've had against the run, if not
- 9:32Speaker 1: the best year that I've had. Like I'm looking forward
- 9:33Speaker 1: to just being able to make plays within this scheme.
- 9:37Speaker 2: Talk talk about let's walk through that a little bit
- 9:39Speaker 2: more about the handcuffs being taken off, because I've heard
- 9:43Speaker 2: that a lot of times, especially when people get to
- 9:45Speaker 2: Chris Caseric into his scheme and how you know, it's
- 9:48Speaker 2: like pin the ears back, attack, attack, attack, and sometimes
- 9:51Speaker 2: fans can't understand what that means. You know, they're like,
- 9:54Speaker 2: isn't that always the case? And it's not, because you know,
- 9:57Speaker 2: there's some defenses where you two gaping. Sometimes you just
- 10:00Speaker 2: hold your gap and you know somebody else's responsibility to
- 10:03Speaker 2: run through. Talk about what has what is allowing you
- 10:07Speaker 2: to take the handcuffs off. In regards to this scheme.
- 10:11Speaker 1: I feel like there's a good amount of variability in
- 10:14Speaker 1: terms of not having to do the same thing all
- 10:18Speaker 1: the time. I feel like when you have to do
- 10:20Speaker 1: the same thing all the time, you're predictable, and when
- 10:22Speaker 1: you're predictable in football, you're very beatable, you know what
- 10:25Speaker 1: I mean. Obviously there's guys like, oh, I know what
- 10:27Speaker 1: he's doing. You can't beat it. But like, at the
- 10:30Speaker 1: same time, you can because you can scheme around certain things,
- 10:34Speaker 1: Like you can if you're doing the same thing and
- 10:36Speaker 1: I know where you're gonna be at, I'm gonna just
- 10:38Speaker 1: be there before you get there, you know what I mean.
- 10:39Speaker 1: Like you have to be able to keep people honest
- 10:42Speaker 1: and be able to do different things and put different
- 10:44Speaker 1: things on tape, and being allowed to put those different
- 10:47Speaker 1: things on tape, especially for myself and the way I
- 10:50Speaker 1: play is going to be awesome. Like it's and I've
- 10:54Speaker 1: been saying that word a lot, bro, but I'm excited,
- 10:57Speaker 1: Like even the first day we had d line meeting,
- 11:00Speaker 1: talk about some of the techniques that I'll be able
- 11:01Speaker 1: to use and the tools that I've been used to
- 11:04Speaker 1: using and being able to be able to use those
- 11:07Speaker 1: with the freedom to be able to use it within
- 11:09Speaker 1: the scheme because I'm a smart player, you know what
- 11:11Speaker 1: I mean. So like knowing that in certain situations, I'm
- 11:14Speaker 1: allowed to do like to do certain things, and it's
- 11:19Speaker 1: going to free up and make it easier to play up.
- 11:22Speaker 1: Like just like the obviously attack is going to be
- 11:25Speaker 1: the main focus, but being able to do different things
- 11:28Speaker 1: at different times is gonna only bring the attack to
- 11:33Speaker 1: lack more because now I may look like I'm about
- 11:37Speaker 1: to attack, but I do something else and you don't
- 11:40Speaker 1: know exactly what's coming. You're going to slow down just
- 11:42Speaker 1: just a tick, and that's going to get media edged.
- 11:45Speaker 2: Yeah, it gives you the freedom within the scheme to
- 11:47Speaker 2: be an individual, you know, to game plan and to
- 11:50Speaker 2: attack and to use the things that you saw on tape.
- 11:54Speaker 2: The weaknesses or strengths, or the leans of the offensive
- 11:58Speaker 2: guard or the offensive tackle. I understand exactly what you say.
- 12:02Speaker 2: It's not saying, Hey, you just have to attack this gap.
- 12:05Speaker 2: You have to be here every single time. You don't
- 12:07Speaker 2: have to take up blocks. You can be a playmaker
- 12:10Speaker 2: within the scheme.

- 14:30Speaker 2: com Ford slash Richard. How has been a younger brother
- 14:37Speaker 2: affected your career? Because I mean you've seen you're the
- 14:40Speaker 2: youngest brother in your family and your oldest brother, from
- 14:43Speaker 2: what I understand, played in the league. How how has
- 14:45Speaker 2: that been Because I'm a younger brother, but I'm a
- 14:46Speaker 2: middle child and I only had one older brother. You
- 14:49Speaker 2: got three other older brothers. That's that sounds crazy?
- 14:53Speaker 1: Yeah, For one, just the guidance. There's a lot of
- 14:56Speaker 1: there's a lot of things that I knew going to
- 14:58Speaker 1: college that a lot of my peers didn't know because
- 15:00Speaker 1: they didn't have someone in their ear who had been
- 15:02Speaker 1: in the league, who knew the ins and outs, who
- 15:05Speaker 1: knew the pitfalls to avoid, and kind of just was
- 15:08Speaker 1: telling me and giving me advice. So I had an
- 15:11Speaker 1: edge from that standpoint, even if there was like certain
- 15:15Speaker 1: talent gaps, just like from my mind, you know what
- 15:17Speaker 1: I mean, my mind was ahead of the curve when
- 15:20Speaker 1: I came in as a freshman, and I would say
- 15:22Speaker 1: even as a rookie in the NFL. With that being said,
- 15:25Speaker 1: it helped me a lot just mentally, just being able
- 15:27Speaker 1: to take care of my body, have the discipline, knowing
- 15:30Speaker 1: that like, yeah, you got bets, and there was great
- 15:32Speaker 1: bets when I got to the league, but like, you know,
- 15:34Speaker 1: you can't follow everything that the bests do, and that's
- 15:35Speaker 1: what they're going to tell you. But like just knowing
- 15:38Speaker 1: that going in and then just trusting what I had
- 15:41Speaker 1: and the knowledge that I built up to get to
- 15:44Speaker 1: that point, and just continuing to stay true to the
- 15:48Speaker 1: things that I had learned. You know, that was probably
- 15:51Speaker 1: i'd say the biggest thing that helped. Just having an
- 15:54Speaker 1: older brother that done't even helped me find my agent,
- 15:57Speaker 1: you know what I mean, help me find training dallars,
- 15:59Speaker 1: like just stuff like that, Like having somebody that can
- 16:03Speaker 1: that that's done it before and kind of one he's
- 16:07Speaker 1: reflecting on the mistakes that he made. He's giving me
- 16:09Speaker 1: the game, you know, Yeah, it's it's it's important.
- 16:13Speaker 2: I mean, it definitely gives you a leg up on
- 16:15Speaker 2: the competition when when somebody's been through it, they can
- 16:18Speaker 2: they can help you avoid the issues that they dealt with,
- 16:21Speaker 2: the mistakes that they made.
- 16:24Speaker 1: So that's huge.
- 16:25Speaker 2: That's huge going in and and even for your potential growth,
- 16:28Speaker 2: it's it's almost like you start a step ahead of
- 16:31Speaker 2: everybody else. So that's really cool. Do you still, you know,
- 16:34Speaker 2: have the same relationship or has it grown since you've
- 16:37Speaker 2: been in the league.
- 16:38Speaker 1: Definitely grown, I would say. Now it's more so I
- 16:41Speaker 1: would say we're kind of like on equal footing in
- 16:44Speaker 1: that in that aspect, you know, where it's less of
- 16:46Speaker 1: an advisory role, because it was it was advisory until
- 16:50Speaker 1: like we got to a certain point and now it's
- 16:51Speaker 1: like you know what you're doing, you know what I mean,
- 16:53Speaker 1: and then we can we can talk on equal footing
- 16:55Speaker 1: because I have the experience and and you know, and
- 17:00Speaker 1: obviously still looking out for me and stuff like that.
- 17:03Speaker 1: But it's it's definitely and out of the nest situation,
- 17:07Speaker 1: like you got it, you know, and it was more
- 17:10Speaker 1: of a partnership.
- 17:10Speaker 2: Now, what are your goals for this season? Obviously you
- 17:14Speaker 2: know this organization is always looking for a super Bowl.
- 17:17Speaker 2: Even with all the injuries and everything happened last year.
- 17:20Speaker 2: I'm sure the conversations around the building are super Bowl.
- 17:24Speaker 2: They bring in you, they bring in Mike Evans. You know,
- 17:28Speaker 2: the Fred Warner is getting healthy, Bosa's coming back healthy.
- 17:33Speaker 2: What are your personal goals and what do you think
- 17:36Speaker 2: about the team's goals and their aspirations. Obviously, the NFC
- 17:39Speaker 2: West is tough. Two teams from the NFC West were
- 17:43Speaker 2: in the NFC Championship, the San Francisco forty nine Ers
- 17:45Speaker 2: lost to the eventual champion Seattle Seahawks. So there's going
- 17:49Speaker 2: to be tremendous competition within the own division. But it
- 17:51Speaker 2: has to feel good to be on an organization. Not
- 17:53Speaker 2: to say the Dallas Cowboys are not trying to talk
- 17:56Speaker 2: bad about anybody else, but it's just the mentality in
- 17:59Speaker 2: this build. As you said before, they went to Super Bowls,
- 18:02Speaker 2: you know, two of the last six Super Bowls, and
- 18:05Speaker 2: it's always they're always in the running for it. They're
- 18:07Speaker 2: always in the mix at the end of the season,
- 18:10Speaker 2: and you're about to be a.
- 18:11Speaker 1: Part of that. Man. Definitely definitely want to make the
- 18:14Speaker 1: deep playoff run bro and get to the dance. I
- 18:16Speaker 1: want to I want to get that ring for sure,
- 18:18Speaker 1: and being on a team that's, like I said, been
- 18:20Speaker 1: in two of the last six is like very hopeful
- 18:23Speaker 1: going into the playoffs. I think they made it to
- 18:25Speaker 1: the second round of the playoffs with a bunch of
- 18:27Speaker 1: guys hurt, you know what I mean, and then just
- 18:29Speaker 1: bringing guys like Drake green Line back, bringing me in,
- 18:33Speaker 1: Mike Evans and stuff like that. It's awesome because it's,
- 18:36Speaker 1: like I said, just being a part of that cavalry.
- 18:38Speaker 1: But as far as like my personal goals, I'm not
- 18:40Speaker 1: going to touch too much on that, Like I know
- 18:43Speaker 1: what they are, but I just know like for the
- 18:45Speaker 1: past five years, I haven't scratched the surface of the
- 18:47Speaker 1: player that I am, you know what I mean. It
- 18:49Speaker 1: hasn't been put off full display. So I just plan
- 18:52Speaker 1: on putting that on display. I love to hear that.
- 18:55Speaker 1: I love to hear that. I look forward to seeing it.
- 18:57Speaker 1: I think if anybody can can allow for that for
- 19:00Speaker 1: him and allow you to unlock that potential, it's Chris
- 19:02Speaker 1: Caseric Man. He's one of the best at bringing the
- 19:04Speaker 1: best out out of his guys. And obviously you're gonna
- 19:07Speaker 1: be playing with other great players and you're held in
- 19:10Speaker 1: high regard and the influence that you're gonna have on
- 19:13Speaker 1: the young guys like Mikhal Williams and Alfred Collins. Is
- 19:15Speaker 1: gonna be huge.
- 19:17Speaker 2: Uh is there? Did you first off, did you see
- 19:20Speaker 2: the schedule? Yes, you got any games that you got circled,
- 19:24Speaker 2: any games that you're excited for. And I know, don't
- 19:26Speaker 2: give me the cliche answer of man, they're all important,
- 19:29Speaker 2: because they're all important.
- 19:30Speaker 1: They all matter, but sometimes some are a little mean
- 19:34Speaker 1: a little more. I mean, speaking to the rivalry, bro,
- 19:37Speaker 1: this is a game that for a long time I
- 19:42Speaker 1: was this is the I mean, the game is like
- 19:44Speaker 1: it's the game that you You've got a picture on
- 19:47Speaker 1: a dark board and you're throwing the knife at the picture.
- 19:49Speaker 1: Now I just take down the picture and I put
- 19:52Speaker 1: up the other picture, and I'm on the other side
- 19:54Speaker 1: of it. But the energy is exactly the same. I
- 19:57Speaker 1: like that. I like that.
- 19:59Speaker 2: I like that people don't people don't understand how many
- 20:03Speaker 2: like the San Francisco forty nine ers and the Dallas
- 20:05Speaker 2: Cowboys that it used to be an old rivalry that
- 20:08Speaker 2: was very intense and it's become that again on both sides.
- 20:12Speaker 2: I think there was some legit frustrations, some legit anger
- 20:16Speaker 2: and and now you're on the other side of that,
- 20:19Speaker 2: and it's gonna be it's gonna be.
- 20:20Speaker 1: Fireworks for sure. Oh man, I can't I can't wait.
- 20:25Speaker 1: I can't wait.
- 20:25Speaker 2: You get to take all that's Football is the ultimate
- 20:27Speaker 2: sport because when you're frustrated about something, when you upset,
- 20:30Speaker 2: you can literally go out there and take out your
- 20:33Speaker 2: concerns and frustration out in the best possible way. Fact
- 20:38Speaker 2: you got any you got anything else you want to
- 20:40Speaker 2: say or you want to get off your chest. Obviously,
- 20:42Speaker 2: mental health is a huge thing for you from what
- 20:45Speaker 2: I've read and what I understand and uh, you know
- 20:48Speaker 2: some of the things that happened in your childhood that
- 20:50Speaker 2: have had a huge impact on how you approach the
- 20:52Speaker 2: world and how you see things. Is there anything you
- 20:54Speaker 2: want to say to the people about that or are
- 20:56Speaker 2: introduced to the faithful? Uh, to your mindset.
- 20:59Speaker 1: About I'm just try and practice gratitude, broal Happy Mental
- 21:03Speaker 1: Health Awareness Month. By the way, gratitude is just a
- 21:07Speaker 1: big part of who I am. Radical positivity to the
- 21:11Speaker 1: point where it could be annoying to talk to me
- 21:13Speaker 1: sometimes because it seems like I'm out of touch with reality.
- 21:15Speaker 1: But I just know how powerful your mind is and
- 21:19Speaker 1: just as much as you can destroy yourself, you could
- 21:22Speaker 1: build yourself up, you know what I mean. And it's
- 21:24Speaker 1: easy to be default negative and think of the worst outcome.
- 21:27Speaker 1: So it's like you have to actually and very intentionally
- 21:30Speaker 1: like combat that with positivity and think about how things
- 21:33Speaker 1: can go right. You know. So even the trade initially
- 21:37Speaker 1: like it hurt, but you know, I had to quickly
- 21:40Speaker 1: come to a realization that it didn't mean or didn't
- 21:42Speaker 1: diminish my value at all as a player. It just
- 21:45Speaker 1: means that my value is needed more in San Francisco
- 21:47Speaker 1: than it wasn't Dallas.
- 21:48Speaker 2: No question, I love that. And attitude of gratitude is
- 21:51Speaker 2: always the best approach. I heard that, and that's that's
- 21:54Speaker 2: a positive way to approach life. And that's a great
- 21:57Speaker 2: quality to have about yourself. And like you said, doesn't
- 22:01Speaker 2: I don't think it says anything about you as a
- 22:02Speaker 2: player other than you continue to have a tremendous value
- 22:06Speaker 2: In this league, a team is willing to part with
- 22:11Speaker 2: draft picks and future considerations to make sure you're a
- 22:14Speaker 2: part of their organization, especially an organization that has aspirations
- 22:18Speaker 2: of taking a team to the next level, and they
- 22:21Speaker 2: obviously see something incredible in you and what you've put
- 22:24Speaker 2: on tape, and value what you could potentially contribute to
- 22:28Speaker 2: this organization. Obviously, change is hard for everybody, but I'm
- 22:32Speaker 2: excited for you, and excited for your family and excited
- 22:35Speaker 2: to see what you do for the San Francisco forty
- 22:36Speaker 2: nine ers, sir, and I appreciate you coming on to
- 22:40Speaker 2: the show Man. It means a lot. I know you've
- 22:42Speaker 2: got a lot of stuff going on. It's a big transition,
- 22:45Speaker 2: but you took the time out to speak to me today.
- 22:46Speaker 2: If you've got any questions for me, I'm happy to answer.
- 22:49Speaker 1: Man. Man, I wouldn't say I have any immediate questions. Bro,
- 22:55Speaker 1: I know I'm talking to a legend right now, but
- 22:57Speaker 1: I'm like dog, appreciate it. I got my respect for you,
- 23:00Speaker 1: and I appreciate you taking the time to have me. Yeah, brother,
- 23:03Speaker 1: I'll be here all year and that means a lot
- 23:05Speaker 1: to me.
- 23:06Speaker 2: You know, you play the game the right way, and
- 23:08Speaker 2: that's all I tried to do is play the game
- 23:09Speaker 2: the right way, put good stuff on tape, play winning football,
- 23:13Speaker 2: and I look forward to you having a tremendous amount
- 23:15Speaker 2: of success this year.
- 23:16Speaker 1: I'll be in your corner.
- 23:17Speaker 2: If you want to come back on the show after
- 23:19Speaker 2: you have a three sack game, we'll be here to
- 23:21Speaker 2: have you.
- 23:22Speaker 1: Third
