- 0:00KARA: I saw Send Help on Sunday. That was really fun.
- 0:02DANI: Oh yeah, and you liked it?
- 0:02KARA: Yeah, I saw it at
- 0:04Nighthawk. For once, Nighthawk had an open caption
- 0:06time that was not sold out.
- 0:06DANI: How were your chairs?
- 0:09KARA: They were too far back.
- 0:09DANI: Like for the screen?
- 0:12KARA: From the screen. What do you mean, how are my
- 0:14chairs?
- 0:14DANI: I just, they're so uncomfortable to me.
- 0:17KARA: Oh, they're fine to me.
- 0:17DANI: Like the Nighthawk ones.
- 0:20That's like the Spirit Airlines of chairs. There's
- 0:22like no padding on them.
- 0:22KARA: You're right. The floor
- 0:24is not raised, so I was like, okay.
- 0:24DANI: And the screens
- 0:27are quite small there and very high up.
- 0:27KARA: Yes.
- 0:30DANI: Did you find that? We went and saw Paddington
- 0:323 there during the Alamo strike. And I was like,
- 0:36this is egregious.
- 0:36KARA: It was just strange.
- 0:36DANI: My neck
- 0:40hurt from looking up.
- 0:40KARA: I didn't have to look up.
- 0:42I had to look straight ahead, though, and then
- 0:45tilt my head a little to the left.
- 0:45DANI: Right, because
- 0:49if someone tall sits in front of you.
- 0:49KARA: Someone
- 0:50was in front of me.
- 0:50DANI: That's so annoying.
- 0:50KARA: Honestly,
- 0:53it was fine. We saw Send Help, which is a fun
- 0:56movie to watch.
- 0:56DANI: Yeah.
- 0:56KARA: And I had my bag of mini
- 0:59M&M's I snuck in, so I was just snacking on
- 1:02those and laughing.
- 1:02DANI: Okay, good. Not to slander
- 1:05Nighthawk, but I am a Nighthawk hater.
- 1:05KARA: I hate
- 1:08them because they never have good open caption
- 1:10times.
- 1:10DANI: And their food's bad. Two things. The
- 1:13bar is cool, though.
- 1:13KARA: The bar is cool. I've only
- 1:16been to Nighthawk one other time, and that was
- 1:18several years ago when the movie The Menu was
- 1:21in theaters, which was great.
- 1:21DANI: It was a fun one.
- 1:25KARA: So I went to see The Menu and I ordered myself
- 1:27a burger, not realizing that the last scene of
- 1:30the movie is when Ralph Fiennes makes a burger
- 1:33for Anya Taylor-Joy. And as I'm eating the burger
- 1:36and watching Ralph Fiennes make a burger, I was
- 1:38like, this is prophetic. It was really cool.
- 1:40DANI: Can I correct you on something that's going to
- 1:42blow your mind?
- 1:42KARA: Yeah.
- 1:42DANI: It's pronounced Rafe. No,
- 1:46it's Rafe Fiennes.
- 1:46KARA: Rafe?
- 1:46DANI: Yeah.
- 1:46KARA: That's upsetting.
- 1:49DANI: I know. That's almost why people say his name
- 1:52is like a whole... Like first and last name together.
- 1:55KARA: What language is that?
- 1:55DANI: He's British. Speaking
- 1:58of Rafe, though. I hate it. Sorry, I got full
- 2:01body chills.
- 2:01KARA: Hi, Ozzy. Hi. The cat is still here
- 2:05menacing us. So if you hear a pitter patter,
- 2:08that's still from the cat. Hi.
- 2:08DANI: Oh, you're going
- 2:11to say something.
- 2:11KARA: Oh, he's on the mic.
- 2:11DANI: Cat on
- 2:13the mic.
- 2:13KARA: Do you want to get to the show? [SOFT ACOUSTIC MUSIC]. This
- 2:29is Write a Lonely Soldier, which aired February
- 2:3328th, 2012.
- 2:33DANI: I looked up this painting and I'm
- 2:37so glad I did because it was beautiful.
- 2:37KARA: It's
- 2:39very cool.
- 2:39DANI: Not a lot of these paintings am I
- 2:41like, oh, I like that. But this one is really
- 2:44stunning.
- 2:44KARA: It's from the 70s. It's a lithograph.
- 2:47Is that how you say it?
- 2:47DANI: Oh, I didn't know that.
- 2:49Okay.
- 2:49KARA: Yeah, it's by June Wayne. It was created
- 2:52in 1976 and she did a series of art using old
- 2:57photos of her mother. So this is actually a picture
- 2:59of her mother in a wedding dress. She's holding
- 3:03a bouquet, and it's set against this gradient background
- 3:05of pinks and grays and yellows and greens. It's
- 3:09beautiful. Basically, her mom was like a wartime
- 3:12bride. She married a soldier she barely knew,
- 3:14and I think he went out to fight in war. I assume
- 3:16World War I. June Wayne was born in 1918. Anyway,
- 3:20she was very cool. She was a big artist in the
- 3:22feminist movement. She was also very into science.
- 3:25Some of her best friends were scientists, like
- 3:27Jonas Salk, the inventor of the polio vaccine.
- 3:30DANI: Holy shit.
- 3:30KARA: Yeah, she sounds awesome.
- 3:30DANI: There is
- 3:33no question as to why this painting was chosen.
- 3:37KARA: Is someone writing a lonely soldier, to a lonely
- 3:41soldier?
- 3:41DANI: This episode opens on Bay. Actually,
- 3:45she makes like kind of a funny joke.
- 3:45KARA: Oh, she
- 3:47said knock knock. Actually, blink blink.
- 3:47DANI: That's
- 3:50cute. But nobody's laughing because she walks
- 3:53in and Regina and Daphne are in front of the
- 3:56TV.
- 3:56KARA: With closed captions.
- 3:56DANI: And they are watching
- 3:59a report that a helicopter has gone down in Afghanistan,
- 4:03and it specifically was Ty's unit.
- 4:03KARA: Yeah, it was
- 4:07Ty's company, and it seems like there were multiple
- 4:10casualties from this helicopter crash. But they
- 4:12don't know if Ty was killed. They haven't released
- 4:14any names.
- 4:14DANI: Yeah.
- 4:14KARA: So, scary.
- 4:14DANI: That's really scary.
- 4:18KARA: Then we're at Carlton now. And Daphne kind of just
- 4:21shares what she learned to Emmett. And she's
- 4:24like, haven't you heard from Bay? He goes, no,
- 4:26we're kind of in a fight right now.
- 4:26DANI: Also, I want
- 4:28to point out that Emmett's like, oh my god, Daphne,
- 4:30where were you? I thought you were maybe skipping.
- 4:33Hypocrite much? Why are you suddenly worried?
- 4:35Like, this whole episode, all of a sudden, he's,
- 4:37like, flipped back to being good. I guess because
- 4:39he's, presumably, has he been forced to move
- 4:42back in with Melody? It's unclear. He doesn't
- 4:45say.
- 4:45KARA: I wrote this down later when he mentions
- 4:47doing biology again. Because he's all of a sudden
- 4:51studying. He's going to class. He's...
- 4:51DANI: Yeah,
- 4:53spoiler alert. He dropped speech therapy.
- 4:53KARA: Yeah.
- 4:56So he's, like, back...
- 4:56DANI: Honestly, yeah, really
- 4:59good.
- 4:59KARA: They don't mention if he moved back in
- 5:01with Melody, if Melody's really on top of him
- 5:03now.
- 5:03DANI: Yeah.
- 5:03KARA: None of that has been mentioned, even
- 5:06though that was the whole episode, last episode.
- 5:09DANI: Yeah, I guess I can only assume that maybe
- 5:12his parents being in this custody battle was
- 5:14a wake-up call for him.
- 5:14KARA: Maybe.
- 5:14DANI: To start acting
- 5:16right so that he doesn't have to move back in
- 5:19with his mom. Or he has, and that's why he's
- 5:21shaped up. But I think...
- 5:21KARA: But they don't tell
- 5:24us.
- 5:24DANI: They don't tell us.
- 5:25And so, yeah, he's worried about Daphne
- 5:28instead of himself. And she's like, well, I was
- 5:31watching the news. Also, she says I was watching
- 5:33the news. He says, what, did they hack Blake
- 5:36Lively's phone again? Wait, I need to Google
- 5:39what happened, actually. Do you remember?
- 5:39KARA: No,
- 5:41did they release nudes or something?
- 5:41DANI: I think
- 5:43so.
- 5:43KARA: That was such a thing in 2012.
- 5:43DANI: This would have
- 5:45been, what, like, 2012, yeah.
- 5:45They loved hacking
- 5:47people's iClouds.
- 5:47DANI: Yeah, in 2012, Blake Lively
- 5:50was one of more than 50 female celebrities whose
- 5:52private photos were accessed and leaked online
- 5:54by a hacker.
- 5:54KARA: Emmett, don't look at that stuff.
- 5:57DANI: Like, that's not a funny joke.
- 5:57KARA: But he is also
- 6:00a stupid teenage boy. And he'll continue to be
- 6:02a stupid teenage boy again this whole episode.
- 6:05DANI: So true. He's like, what? I don't even care what's
- 6:07on the news. And then Daphne's like, well, you
- 6:10probably should because Bay is really going through
- 6:12it because of Ty. And his face when Daphne's
- 6:16like, because of Ty, like it was Ty's company
- 6:19and he realizes this is about Ty. I understand
- 6:21that he's a stupid teenage boy and he's like
- 6:23jealous. But the fact that, I don't know, his
- 6:27reaction is like, oh we're talking about him
- 6:30again like this guy again and it's like he could
- 6:33be dead.
- 6:33KARA: He could be dead.
- 6:33DANI: And like for your sake
- 6:35you better hope he's not dead because I feel
- 6:37if he's dead then Bay forever is gonna like hold
- 6:40him up as...
- 6:40KARA: Compare what could have happened.
- 6:40DANI: Exactly.
- 6:43Compare the two and Emmett would fall short because
- 6:45he's been a shitty boyfriend as of late. So anyway
- 6:48moving on.
- 6:48KARA: We're with Craig Tebbe again. He's
- 6:51with John and Katherine at the Kennish house
- 6:53and he says something's fishy. I guess Brizia
- 6:56did put this cash in a bank account.
- 6:56DANI: Dude, I
- 6:59told you. For the future, when someone pays you
- 7:02when you are fired illegally from your job for
- 7:04participating in a lawsuit and those whistleblower
- 7:07laws aren't protecting you, do not put the cash
- 7:10in a bank account.
- 7:10KARA: Put it under a mattress or
- 7:15something. Or a very good hiding place that's
- 7:17not traceable.
- 7:17DANI: Or like a very good friend who
- 7:21you can trust to hold it or something.
- 7:21KARA: Something.
- 7:24DANI: Someone they're not going to look into.
- 7:24KARA: Yeah.
- 7:27But Craig Tebbe is like, the investigator we
- 7:30have tracking Brizia says she has a sudden influx
- 7:33of cash. This is not good. I think Angelo gave
- 7:36her the money. And then Kathryn immediately
- 7:38confesses and she's like, no, I did that.
- 7:38DANI: That
- 7:41was me, actually.
- 7:41KARA: Craig Tebbe is like, shit,
- 7:43okay. Well, Brizia can't testify as a result, but
- 7:47I love you and you're beautiful. So I will try
- 7:50to ask the investigator to bury the report. Next,
- 7:53we are at Carlton and Daphne is playing basketball.
- 7:57Remember, guys, she's back at Carlton playing.
- 7:59This is clearly a double. Did you notice that?
- 8:02DANI: No.
- 8:02KARA: This is a double.
- 8:02DANI: They said, Katie LeClerc
- 8:05can't play basketball, guys.
- 8:05KARA: And we meet a boy
- 8:08who's like the towel boy. Travis.
- 8:08DANI: Travis is here!
- 8:12KARA: And he will be with us for the rest of the show.
- 8:15DANI: For the rest of the show. I didn't remember that
- 8:17he was introduced so early.
- 8:17KARA: Yeah.
- 8:17DANI: I thought he
- 8:20was like a season two addition for some reason.
- 8:22I love Travis, guys. I'm so happy.
- 8:22KARA: Played by
- 8:25Ryan Lane. Welcome to the show. Hi, Ryan. He
- 8:29is a fellow student at Carlton. And I guess
- 8:31he's working there collecting towels and doing
- 8:33laundry or something. Daphne throws a towel in
- 8:36or attempts to and it falls on the ground.
- 8:36DANI: Girl,
- 8:39you can't make your towel shots. How are you
- 8:41going to make your real shots?
- 8:41KARA: Well, she says
- 8:43that she was like, I guess I got to work on my
- 8:45free throws. But he is being quite mean off the
- 8:50bat.
- 8:50DANI: Yeah, one thing I love about Travis is he's
- 8:53going to be mean.
- 8:53KARA: He is going to be mean.
- 8:53DANI: He
- 8:55has a chip on his shoulder and he deserves to.
- 8:57KARA: He does.
- 8:57DANI: But yeah, he loves to lash out.
- 8:57KARA: He immediately
- 9:01accuses Daphne being like this rich princess
- 9:04now who decided to come back to Carlton on a
- 9:07whim. And because of that, she is benching another
- 9:11Carlton player. Who probably deserves to play
- 9:13because they were there the whole season.
- 9:13DANI: Yeah,
- 9:15I mean, he's like, what, they win five games,
- 9:18so they're good enough for you now, and you're
- 9:20making one of them sit on the bench. And it's
- 9:22like, that's not her choice. But, like, don't
- 9:25they sub people in and out all the time anyway?
- 9:27KARA: They do, but if Daphne is really good, then maybe.
- 9:32It's up to John and Melody.
- 9:32DANI: Right. Oh.
- 9:32KARA: And they're
- 9:35obviously going to play Daphne more.
- 9:35DANI: Yeah. But
- 9:39we saw them a few episodes ago and the team,
- 9:42like, sucked and didn't care that they sucked.
- 9:44So I don't know how much they care.
- 9:44KARA: Right. Maybe
- 9:48they all of a sudden care now that they've been
- 9:50winning. I don't know. I think I personally cared
- 9:52more when I had a chance of winning or when I
- 9:56was winning. Because winning, honestly, is fun.
- 9:58It's interesting to me, Travis, at this point
- 10:00also, because besides from Daphne and Emmett, he
- 10:04is the complete opposite of Daphne, who has such
- 10:07a sunny disposition.
- 10:07DANI: Yeah.
- 10:07KARA: So it's kind of jarring.
- 10:09DANI: Yeah. I agree. He's a really good counterweight
- 10:12to her.
- 10:12KARA: But Daphne storms out of the gym after
- 10:15Travis was mean to her, and she bumps into the
- 10:17principal, who is hearing, guys. She is hearing.
- 10:20The actor is hearing, and she's a hearing person.
- 10:22DANI: And can I say...
- 10:22KARA: Did we learn nothing from Deaf
- 10:25President Now?
- 10:25DANI: Well, what I was going to say
- 10:27is, doesn't that feel realistic?
- 10:27KARA: It does, unfortunately.
- 10:31DANI: So...
- 10:31KARA: There are deaf schools in New York City
- 10:34that have hearing principals.
- 10:34DANI: It's just so confusing
- 10:38to me. Like, why?
- 10:38KARA: I don't know. Anyways, Daphne
- 10:42is like, this guy, Travis, was kind of mean to
- 10:44me. And the principal is like, don't worry, I'll
- 10:47talk to him.
- 10:47DANI: Not only is she hearing, but they
- 10:49start sim- Daphne starts simcomming with her.
- 10:52At school? She has to do this at school?
- 10:52KARA: At school
- 10:55for the deaf.
- 10:55DANI: Principal Rose, step aside.
- 10:55KARA: Now
- 10:59Bay is stress painting in her art studio. She's
- 11:02angrily painting and throwing her brush on the
- 11:05palette.
- 11:05DANI: She has a lot to worry about.
- 11:05KARA: I'd be
- 11:08worried sick. But Emmett, thank God, comes in to
- 11:10check on her. And he's being somewhat nice. If
- 11:13he is being jealous, he's holding it back quite
- 11:15well.
- 11:15DANI: Yeah, you're right. When he appears, he
- 11:17looks really cute in the driveway. And I was
- 11:20like, I don't know. It's cute.
- 11:20KARA: He's comforting
- 11:23her.
- 11:23DANI: He looks handsome. He looks nice. He looks
- 11:25like he's going to play nice boyfriend.
- 11:25KARA: Exactly.
- 11:27Bay's like, well, what if something bad happens?
- 11:30And Emmett's like, we don't want to go there
- 11:32yet. We just need to wait. It's going to be okay.
- 11:34I'm here for you.
- 11:34DANI: And then Bay's like, well,
- 11:37he's never taken this long to respond to my emails.
- 11:40KARA: Well, before that, she was like, I just still
- 11:42don't get why he enlisted. Like, Emmett, would
- 11:45you enlist? And Emmett's like, no, because I'm
- 11:48Deaf. And Deaf people can't serve.
- 11:48DANI: I liked that
- 11:51moment.
- 11:51KARA: It's a nice reminder.
- 11:51DANI: It's a nice reminder,
- 11:54yeah.
- 11:54KARA: To Bay and also the viewers, like, just
- 11:57small things.
- 11:57DANI: Yeah.
- 11:57KARA: But Emmett doesn't say if
- 12:00he had the ability to, would he serve? He's just,
- 12:03I guess it doesn't even cross his mind because
- 12:05he's like, I can't.
- 12:05DANI: It's really giving ABC Family
- 12:07that his answer, though, when she's like, I still
- 12:09don't understand why he would enlist, is to say,
- 12:11to serve his country. Like.
- 12:11KARA: I know, because Emmett
- 12:15said he's serving his country. He's doing an
- 12:17honorable thing.
- 12:17DANI: Like, actually, Ty enlisted
- 12:19because he didn't have any better options because
- 12:22he was...
- 12:22KARA: Which he explained to Bay.
- 12:22DANI: Yeah, where
- 12:25he felt like he was stuck and that was his only
- 12:27option. So for Emmett to be like, it's an honor
- 12:30for him to serve. I don't know. Weird coming
- 12:33from him.
- 12:33KARA: Very John Kennish of him.
- 12:33DANI: Yeah, very
- 12:35John Kennish.
- 12:35KARA: He hasn't responded to my emails.
- 12:38DANI: When is he going to write me back? And Emmett's
- 12:40like, emails.
- 12:40KARA: And then all of a sudden the green
- 12:43monster comes out.
- 12:43dani: She says, yeah, he has access
- 12:45to computers over there.
- 12:45KARA: Do you think she should
- 12:47have told Emmett that she was emailing him?
- 12:47DANI: I
- 12:50feel like you're going to get mad at me. I don't
- 12:52want to be the person that's like pro cheating
- 12:55on this podcast and I'm not, but I am so like,
- 12:59that's her business.
- 12:59KARA: I agree.
- 12:59DANI: Okay. I don't think
- 13:03that she needs to disclose it to Emmett.
- 13:03KARA: It's
- 13:06not cheating though.
- 13:06DANI: No, no, no, no, no. It's
- 13:08definitely not cheating. But like later on. We'll
- 13:11get to it but like when he's like let me see
- 13:13the emails, I'm like that is so sinister and foul
- 13:17of him to be like, well let me see them then. I
- 13:19think that is like such a violation.
- 13:19KARA: And that
- 13:22explains why she didn't show them in the first
- 13:24place or tell him in the first place.
- 13:24DANI: I think
- 13:26Bay is completely in the right.
- 13:26KARA: She's allowed
- 13:28to have male friends.
- 13:28DANI: Yeah she's... obviously it's
- 13:31weird because they were kind of together but
- 13:34like, I just think a pre-existing relationship
- 13:38that, like, was romantic, yes, but then was also
- 13:41a friendship for her.
- 13:41KARA: And it started out as a
- 13:44friendship.
- 13:44DANI: And it started out as a friendship
- 13:45and it also, like, is so intertwined with her
- 13:48learning about herself and stuff. Like, Emmett
- 13:51has no right to ask her to set that aside for
- 13:54him.
- 13:54KARA: No. I agree.
- 13:54DANI: And I think if he has a problem
- 13:58with her still being in communication with him,
- 14:00like, he can be like, okay, I don't want to be
- 14:02in this relationship anymore. But I don't think
- 14:04in that relationship he can be like, my boundary
- 14:07is that you can't.
- 14:07KARA: Yeah, that's not a boundary.
- 14:09DANI: Yeah, no. Boundaries are things for you. You
- 14:11can place boundaries on yourself.
- 14:11KARA: They're not
- 14:13for the other person.
- 14:13DANI: Just for the record, guys.
- 14:15But yeah, so that's how I feel. I don't know.
- 14:17For some reason, I thought you would disagree
- 14:19with me.
- 14:19KARA: No, I think only because when she shares
- 14:23the content of the emails, I was like, oh, they're
- 14:26fine. And then Daphne makes a good point in the
- 14:27next scene where she was like Bay's like his
- 14:30only lifeline to home and it must suck and be
- 14:32miserable to be there.
- 14:32DANI: Totally, which is so weird
- 14:35because then Daphne's like yeah I emailed him
- 14:37like once or twice and it's like Daphne, girl
- 14:40really?
- 14:40KARA: I don't know, let's go the next day. We're
- 14:43at Carlton again and then Emmett goes up to Daphne,
- 14:46they're chatting, and he's like Bay's been emailing
- 14:49Ty. Have you been emailing Ty? And then she says
- 14:52only like two or three times.
- 14:52DANI: Yeah.
- 14:52KARA: Again, I don't
- 14:55know how good friends they are, but whatever.
- 14:59And then he goes, Daphne, can I be mad about
- 15:02Bay emailing Ty? And she goes, no, not really.
- 15:06DANI: She says, not right now, especially.
- 15:06KARA: He's in
- 15:09a war zone and emailing Bay is a lifetime to
- 15:12home. And Bay loves you.
- 15:12DANI: Yeah, I felt for Daphne
- 15:16in this scene because I know she's dating Wilke
- 15:18now. But only a few episodes ago, she was still
- 15:21struggling with her feelings for Emmett.
- 15:21KARA: Right.
- 15:25DANI: To force her to, like, be the go-between between
- 15:27these two people and be like, Bay is obsessed
- 15:29with you. And Emmett knows.
- 15:29KARA: I know.
- 15:29DANI: That he's
- 15:34doing that. He just doesn't care. And then he
- 15:36says, I'm glad that he's, like, self-aware enough
- 15:39to be like, then this is really the only acknowledgement
- 15:41we get of this whole episode. He says, with everything
- 15:44going on at home, I think I've been putting too
- 15:46much pressure on the relationship.
- 15:46KARA: Yeah.
- 15:46DANI: And
- 15:50he has. But I'm glad that he realizes that.
- 15:50KARA: I
- 15:52know.
- 15:52DANI: At least.
- 15:52KARA: Acceptance is the first step.
- 15:54Except he'll be an asshole later on.
- 15:54DANI: Yeah, except
- 15:56he's not going to internalize that and change
- 15:58it all.
- 15:58KARA: Not at all. Then Emmett leaves and Travis comes
- 16:01up and he goes, thanks a lot, Daphne. Because
- 16:03of you, I just got fired.
- 16:03DANI: Tough. It's not her
- 16:07fault, but it is like, what did you think was
- 16:09going to happen?
- 16:09KARA: I don't know if you would...the
- 16:13principal doesn't even know what he said.
- 16:13DANI: Yeah,
- 16:15that's true.
- 16:15KARA: Daphne just said he was just being-
- 16:15DANI: He's
- 16:19giving me a hard time.
- 16:19KARA: And the principal said
- 16:22that's not the first complaint we've heard about
- 16:23him. So maybe this was like three strikes you
- 16:25out.
- 16:25DANI: Yeah.
- 16:25KARA: I don't know. But she doesn't know
- 16:29the context of the conversation that happened.
- 16:31I think this principal should have gotten more
- 16:33details.
- 16:33DANI: Yeah.
- 16:33KARA: And maybe set up a mediation if
- 16:37they really had an issue.
- 16:37DANI: Yeah.
- 16:37KARA: Restorative
- 16:39justice, but no.
- 16:39DANI: Maybe said, let's move you to
- 16:41another job in the school if you're going to
- 16:43bother the athletes.
- 16:43KARA: Yeah.
- 16:43DANI: You know. I don't
- 16:46know. Because he's also a student there. It's
- 16:48not like he's just a worker.
- 16:48KARA: No.
- 16:48DANI: He's a student
- 16:51there. So he's allowed to have interpersonal
- 16:53conflicts with other students there without losing
- 16:57his job.
- 16:57KARA: I just think it was way too punitive
- 17:00to fire him. Again, we don't know any of the
- 17:02context, but this is only happening because of
- 17:04what's going to happen later on this episode
- 17:06with Daphne helping him get a job.
- 17:06DANI: Principal
- 17:08Rose, you're on notice.
- 17:08KARA: You are. Also, extremely
- 17:11distracting scene because the camera kept focusing
- 17:14on Travis's hand signing and not his full body.
- 17:18DANI: Oh, I didn't notice that.
- 17:18KARA: Yeah. It's like what
- 17:21they did last episode. They focused on just Melody's
- 17:24hands.
- 17:24DANI: No, that's weird.
- 17:24KARA: It's too distracting.
- 17:27Next scene, exterior driveway. Simone, the sociopath,
- 17:31is back. And she has this awkward exchange with
- 17:34Daphne. Like, hey, how's basketball? And Daphne's
- 17:38like, good. Gotta go.
- 17:38DANI: She goes, I gotta go do
- 17:42some stuff.
- 17:42KARA: I get it.
- 17:42DANI: That's so, like, poor Daphne.
- 17:47KARA: This is a poor Daphne and a poor Bay.
- 17:47DANI: Yeah, they
- 17:49both are really going through it. But, like,
- 17:51poor Daphne that I do feel at the Kennish house,
- 17:54she has had to, every time she steps out her
- 17:57front door, face like a lifelong frenemy. Like,
- 18:01Simone, Angelo, when she was... feeling stuff
- 18:04for Emmett and he kept showing up but it wasn't
- 18:06for her. Every time she exits that guest house
- 18:09she goes through something.
- 18:09KARA: Poor thing.
- 18:09DANI: Anyway
- 18:12Simone is there to see Toby and she is so good
- 18:17at making herself seem like a victim because
- 18:19she literally like sees Daphne, you can watch
- 18:22her decide to like, how to play it and then to
- 18:25Toby, she's like have they been talking mad shit
- 18:27about me or what? And he's like what are you talking
- 18:30about? She's like Bay and Daphne are both like
- 18:32so mad at me and like I don't even know why and
- 18:35Toby's like I literally.
- 18:35KARA: I have no idea what you're
- 18:37talking about.
- 18:37DANI: I have no idea which, Toby tap in
- 18:39maybe. Let's maybe tap in.
- 18:39KARA: Yeah, even Wilke tried
- 18:42to warn you like an episode or two ago.
- 18:42DANI: Yeah.
- 18:42KARA: That
- 18:44Simone is not being nice to Daphne. Maybe ask
- 18:47Daphne.
- 18:47DANI: Yeah.
- 18:47KARA: What's up?
- 18:47DANI: Maybe engage a little.
- 18:49And then she's like, by the way, remember how
- 18:53you told me not to manage you? Well I booked
- 18:54you a gig.
- 18:54KARA: And he goes, oh, thanks.
- 18:54DANI: But then
- 18:58he's like, well, Wilke got us a gig playing
- 19:01this kegger party.
- 19:01KARA: On that same night.
- 19:01DANI: And she's
- 19:04like, just ditch it. Like, she has no...
- 19:04KARA: She
- 19:07said, I don't give a fuck, actually. Ditch it.
- 19:09DANI: When she was like, I'm Guitar Face's biggest
- 19:11fan, that was a lie. She just meant she wanted...
- 19:14KARA: She's Toby's biggest fan.
- 19:14DANI: Yeah.
- 19:14KARA: Yeah. Bay and
- 19:16Daphne approach John in the office. This is cute.
- 19:19DANI: This is so cute.
- 19:19KARA: They both come in at the same
- 19:22time and say, hey, Dad.
- 19:22DANI: We should try that again
- 19:25in sync. Ready? One, two, three.
- 19:25BOTH: Hey, Dad!
- 19:25DANI: Oh,
- 19:29that was good. It's really sweet and like from
- 19:31different doors.
- 19:31KARA: I know.
- 19:31DANI: Also, I love John's
- 19:34office. The set of his office with all the different
- 19:36doors.
- 19:36KARA: It's great.
- 19:36DANI: Quite a fan. Although, not
- 19:39to say it's not only his. I've seen Kathryn
- 19:41work in there before.
- 19:41KARA: Yeah, it's the family office.
- 19:43DANI: It's the family office.
- 19:43KARA: But John is quite pleased.
- 19:45He's like, aw, my two daughters.
- 19:45DANI: Yeah.
- 19:45KARA: Hi, what's
- 19:47up? Bay goes first and she says, you know an
- 19:51army general. Can you call him to see if you
- 19:55can get, like, a list of casualties from that
- 19:57helicopter crash? And John's like, already did
- 20:00it.
- 20:00DANI: I got emotional. That was so sweet. He was
- 20:03like, of course I called. It's the first thing
- 20:05I did.
- 20:05KARA: Yeah.
- 20:05DANI: It's so nice.
- 20:05KARA: Bay says thank you.
- 20:08And then Daphne goes, hey, Dad, I see your car
- 20:12wash is hiring. I...
- 20:12DANI: Got somebody fired.
- 20:12KARA: I got somebody
- 20:15fired. And I think you should hire this guy.
- 20:18He goes to school with me. His name is Travis.
- 20:20And John goes, is he like you or more like Emmett?
- 20:23Come on.
- 20:23DANI: She says, do you mean how deaf is he?
- 20:27And John immediately is like, it's fine. I don't
- 20:29care.
- 20:29KARA: Well, he goes, yes. And then Daphne makes
- 20:32a face. And then I think he realizes he made
- 20:34a faux pas. And he's like, never mind. Bring
- 20:36Travis over.
- 20:36DANI: Thank God for that.
- 20:36KARA: Yeah. John is
- 20:39not signing at all here. He is lagging.
- 20:39DANI: No, and
- 20:43they acknowledge it a lot later in the house.
- 20:45KARA: I know. Next scene, we're back at the Kennish
- 20:48house and Kathryn, the detective, she's going
- 20:50through the lawsuit documents and she's like,
- 20:53wait a second. How did Angelo know to go to Brizia?
- 20:57And why did Brizia admit the truth to him? And
- 21:00Kathryn's like, Maybe it's because Angelo's
- 21:03hot. And John's like, he's not that hot.
- 21:03DANI: He's
- 21:06pretty hot.
- 21:06KARA: But she's like, I have an idea. I'm
- 21:09going to go meet with Angelo's attorney, and
- 21:11I'm going to bring Craig Tebbe with me. Next
- 21:13scene, Bay is continuing to sulk in her art studio.
- 21:16And Emmett comes in. And he's like, I have a
- 21:19gift for you. It's a book about a girl who time
- 21:21travels and hunts demons. I looked it up, and
- 21:23this book is not real.
- 21:23DANI: Okay. I love that they
- 21:26made one up. Because we get a full shot of the
- 21:29cover.
- 21:29KARA: Yeah, and this character has massive honkers.
- 21:32DANI: Just, like, huge, huge gifts.
- 21:32KARA: It's a really giving
- 21:36teenage boy book.
- 21:36DANI: Yeah, I just wrote, like, how
- 21:40nice, Emmett, that you got a present for yourself,
- 21:42basically. Like, I think it's, like, to be, like,
- 21:45I got you a gift in your time of need, and it's
- 21:48this book that I like that I want you to read.
- 21:50It's, like, okay. Thank you.
- 21:50KARA: And then Bay catches
- 21:53on. She's like, thanks.
- 21:53DANI: It's a scarf. Thanks.
- 21:57KARA: But then Jon comes in and he's like, great news.
- 21:59Ty is fine. Yay.
- 21:59DANI: Yay.
- 21:59KARA: And now this gives Emmett
- 22:04full reign to be an asshole for the rest of the
- 22:05episode.
- 22:05DANI: Yeah, you watch it, like, switch. And
- 22:07Jon's hugging Bay. And so he can see Emmett.
- 22:11And Emmett's, like, sitting there sulking and
- 22:12goes, I'm so happy.
- 22:12KARA: Does he wish he died?
- 22:12DANI: That's
- 22:16the thing that I want- like, what was he hoping
- 22:19the outcome would be? Or is he maybe just realizing,
- 22:22like, now that Ty is fine, I can start fighting
- 22:24with Bay.
- 22:24KARA: Pretty much exactly what's going to
- 22:26happen.
- 22:26DANI: Yeah.
- 22:26KARA: Okay. Car wash time. John is showing
- 22:31Travis the ropes and Daphne is there interpreting
- 22:33for Travis. Big sigh.
- 22:33DANI: This was tough.
- 22:33KARA: This is
- 22:37a tough scene. And John's like, you got it? And
- 22:40Travis signs, I think if a baseball player can
- 22:43do it, so can I. But then, Daphne's like, shut
- 22:47up. And what she interprets back to John is he
- 22:50loves your baseball logo. Fair. But then Daphne,
- 22:53you notice, is struggling to interpret for Travis
- 22:56because John is still, after all these months,
- 22:59facing away from the two of them.
- 22:59DANI: Yeah. He's
- 23:03not.
- 23:03KARA: It surprises me considering he's been coaching
- 23:07at Carlton every day, interacting with Melody,
- 23:10who is fully deaf.
- 23:10DANI: Right. So I'm like, how is
- 23:13he at Carlton all the time and not picking up
- 23:16more.
- 23:16KARA: Not picking up more signs.
- 23:16DANI: Even just the
- 23:19social norms of an environment like that. You
- 23:23know what I mean?
- 23:23KARA: And the actual answer ia that
- 23:25D.W. Moffett really struggled to learn sign.
- 23:27DANI: Yeah.
- 23:27KARA: He apparently was the character that struggled
- 23:30the most. So that is why. But it doesn't track
- 23:34with John Kennish's character because I would
- 23:37argue that he is interacting with the deaf community
- 23:39maybe the most. He's at Carlton School for the
- 23:42Deaf every day.
- 23:42DANI: Yeah, but I do think that John
- 23:45being like an old white Republican man, he is
- 23:50like stuck in his ways. So I do feel like he
- 23:53would just be like, well, why would I accommodate
- 23:55for them? Because they can accommodate for me.
- 23:57KARA: Right. I have another question for you.
- 23:57DANI: Yeah.
- 24:00KARA: Have you ever seen a straight hearing man at
- 24:02the Sign Language Center where you learned?
- 24:02DANI: Okay,
- 24:04yes, actually.
- 24:04KARA: How many?
- 24:04DANI: We had two in our last
- 24:08class. Well, maybe one and a half. Bisexual king.
- 24:14KARA: A and I have been like, in our years of learning
- 24:17sign, we have never seen a straight man in class.
- 24:21DANI: Interesting.
- 24:21KARA: A straight hearing man.
- 24:21DANI: Well, Paolo
- 24:24was there.
- 24:24KARA: Not in my class.
- 24:24DANI: No, I know. But in
- 24:26mine, I'm saying, so counting him, I guess two
- 24:28and a half. Yeah.
- 24:28KARA: Okay. Yeah.
- 24:28DANI: But yeah, it's
- 24:31mostly women.
- 24:31KARA: It's mostly women and queer people.
- 24:34Queer non-binary trans people. A and I have
- 24:37this theory that, One, I think women tend to
- 24:41do more service jobs like nurses and teachers,
- 24:44and then therefore they're more likely to interact
- 24:47with people who are disabled or children with
- 24:49disabilities or whatnot. And then they want to
- 24:52learn sign. And also, I think they're more empathetic.
- 24:54So, yeah. And then my other theory was that I
- 24:59think straight men tend to underestimate how
- 25:02difficult it is to learn sign. I think a lot
- 25:05of them are like, oh, this shit's going to be
- 25:06easy. And then maybe they sit down for one class
- 25:09and they're like, oh, never mind. This is stupid.
- 25:11DANI: That's totally possible. Men tend to have less
- 25:14hobbies. And the classes are pretty involved.
- 25:18So you are committing to two hours a week. I
- 25:21would also say ASL is a very expressive language.
- 25:26There's a lot of physicality involved.
- 25:26KARA: I think
- 25:29men are socialized not to be so expressive.
- 25:29DANI: Yeah.
- 25:32So I think it is hard for them to engage in that.
- 25:37KARA: Yeah, for sure.
- 25:37DANI: Which is a bummer because it
- 25:39would be probably very beneficial.
- 25:39KARA: I can't believe
- 25:42I'm saying this, but we need more straight men
- 25:44learning sign.
- 25:44DANI: We really, we need more straight
- 25:47men in this space. Get them in here.
- 25:47KARA: I know.
- 25:51DANI: But I guess for those reasons, it makes sense
- 25:53to me that John is still, for his character, despite
- 25:57all of the reasons he should be better at
- 26:00this, it makes sense to me that he's still struggling
- 26:03and making it harder for all of the deaf people
- 26:07in his life now.
- 26:07KARA: Yeah, he's a big masculine baseball
- 26:09player. I think it is hard for him to be expressive.
- 26:12DANI: Absolutely. Speaking of men that suck at sign
- 26:15language.
- 26:15KARA: Wilke comes by, gives Daphne a kiss,
- 26:18and Daphne's like, Wilke, meet Travis. Travis,
- 26:20meet Wilke. Hello.
- 26:20DANI: And Travis signs, so slow.
- 26:24Nice to meet you. So slow.
- 26:24KARA: And Wilke goes, what's
- 26:29that? What did he say? What did he say? And then
- 26:32Travis says what we're all thinking, which is,
- 26:35so you're dating a hearing guy and he hasn't
- 26:38even bothered to learn nice to meet you?
- 26:38DANI: I feel
- 26:40like they teach that in kindergarten.
- 26:40KARA: Literally.
- 26:43And Daphne.
- 26:43DANI: Daphne's like, not now. What did
- 26:46she say?
- 26:46KARA: She's kind of just like, stop that.
- 26:49DANI: Yeah. She's just like, whatever.
- 26:49KARA: Yeah. Why are
- 26:51you booing him? He's right.
- 26:51DANI: He's so right. And
- 26:54then, to make matters worse, Wilke goes, oh,
- 26:58you. And he points at him. Two! Like, and holds
- 27:01up two fingers.
- 27:01KARA: Yeah. Not ASL, guys.
- 27:01DANI: No. He's
- 27:05miming. It's insulting.
- 27:05KARA: It is. And then he picks
- 27:09up Daphne. They go out somewhere. And Daphne's
- 27:12pouting. But he's right.
- 27:12DANI: He's right. But honestly...
- 27:15This is something she's been, like, putting off
- 27:17a little bit.
- 27:17KARA: What I really liked about Travis
- 27:19and during this episode is that his arc of
- 27:23us getting to learn about him more also really
- 27:25interacts with Daphne learning about herself
- 27:27more and her interaction with the hearing world
- 27:29and also her relationship with Wilke.
- 27:29DANI: Yeah,
- 27:32Travis really holds up a mirror for her. Daphne
- 27:35and Wilke, they go from the car wash on a sandwich
- 27:37date, just a sandwich in the park date. This
- 27:40show loves to put couples be like, what should
- 27:42they do for a date? Sandwich park.
- 27:42KARAA: Honestly,
- 27:45great date.
- 27:45DANI: I feel like I'm not doing enough
- 27:47sandwich park dates. They're on this date and
- 27:50Wilke's trying to tell Daphne about something.
- 27:54KARA: About the Guitar Face gig.
- 27:54DANI: Right. He's like,
- 27:56I want you at the gig. And she says, all I got
- 27:59from that was Saturday and a lot of pulled pork
- 28:01sandwich.
- 28:01KARA: Because he's speaking with his mouth
- 28:04full.
- 28:04DANI: Yeah.
- 28:04KARA: Don't do that.
- 28:04DANI: Don't do that on a
- 28:06date.
- 28:06KARA: First of all, it's rude. It's rude and
- 28:08also not accessible.
- 28:08DANI: And also not sexy.
- 28:08KARA: No.
- 28:08DANI: Pulled
- 28:12pork? You're on a date.
- 28:12KARA: He's telling her about
- 28:14the gig. And then Daphne is telling her about
- 28:16basketball. And Wilke is like, that's great.
- 28:19I'm so excited for you. And I...
- 28:19DANI: Can't wait to
- 28:22come to your game.
- 28:22KARA: Yeah. How come you've never
- 28:24invited me?
- 28:24DANI: And it's like, we know why.
- 28:24KARA: Well,
- 28:27Daphne's like, I never thought you were interested.
- 28:30And also, Wilke could just show up. He doesn't
- 28:33have to be invited.
- 28:33DANI: No, but I think it's kind
- 28:35of weird to show, like, if you're dating someone
- 28:37and they don't invite you and then you, like,
- 28:39surprise them there. I wouldn't like that.
- 28:39KARA: That's
- 28:41fair. But Daphne rightfully says, like, I thought
- 28:44you had no interest.
- 28:44DANI: And she loves to keep her
- 28:47hearing world and her deaf world separate.
- 28:47KARA: Very
- 28:49separate. It's true.
- 28:49DANI: And he says, of course I'm
- 28:53interested. I'm your BF. And she goes, my what?
- 28:57And he says, biggest fan. Duh.
- 28:57KARA: What did you think
- 28:59it was?
- 28:59DANI: Okay, are they not boyfriend -girlfriend?
- 29:02KARA: I guess not.
- 29:02DANI: I guess we haven't really seen them
- 29:04do a lot of dating.
- 29:04KARA: Not really.
- 29:04DANI: All right. I
- 29:07mean, honestly, maybe good for Daphne that they're
- 29:10like taking things slow.
- 29:10KARA: Thank God.
- 29:10DANI: But I was
- 29:12surprised just with the way this show usually
- 29:15moves.
- 29:15KARA: Yeah.
- 29:15DANI: That they like hadn't had the what
- 29:17are we talk.
- 29:17KARA: Yeah. But Daphne gets a text and
- 29:20something is up and she has to leave. Craig Tebbe
- 29:23and Kathryn go to meet with Angelo's attorney.
- 29:26DANI: Yeah.
- 29:26KARA: Seems like a very low budget lawyer office.
- 29:29DANI: Yeah. It's a little tough. And the secretary
- 29:32is openly crushing on Craig and also thinks
- 29:36that they're there to get a prenup.
- 29:36KARA: Yes.
- 29:36DANI: And
- 29:39is like, you guys must be so excited. And Kathryn's
- 29:42like, what? And then it becomes clear she thinks
- 29:44that they're, like, a young couple.
- 29:44KARA: Yeah.
- 29:44DANI: Which
- 29:47Kathryn is like, who, me? Me? Me? Oh, my God.
- 29:52KARA: And Craig Tebbe goes, well, I've always had
- 29:54things for redheads ever since Mary Jane Watson.
- 29:56And Kathryn goes, who's that from?
- 29:56DANI: She said,
- 29:59like, is that your ex-girlfriend? How did she
- 30:01not know who Spider-Man's girlfriend is? I feel
- 30:05like Mary Jane Watson is like so- such a famous
- 30:08name in pop culture. Am I crazy?
- 30:08KARA: I didn't.
- 30:08DANI: [GASP]. Okay.
- 30:11KARA: I knew her name was Mary Jane but I didn't know
- 30:15the last name.
- 30:15DANI: Okay.
- 30:15KARA: Forgive me.
- 30:15DANI: That's okay
- 30:18I guess I'm- that's good to know. I thought that
- 30:21because- I don't really care about superheroes
- 30:22but I was like everyone knows that. I guess not.
- 30:25KARA: Sure.
- 30:25DANI: But I do love Spider-Man so maybe that's
- 30:28why.
- 30:28KARA: Spider-Man's great. Tobey Maguire Spider
- 30:30-Man, top notch.
- 30:30DANI: Best Spider-Man. Even though
- 30:33Andrew Garfield's hotter, that's not the point.
- 30:35Spider-Man's actually not supposed to be that
- 30:37hot.
- 30:37KARA: And it's Kirsten Dunst, Mary Jane Watson.
- 30:39DANI: Yeah.
- 30:39KARA: So good.
- 30:39DANI: I know, it's really good. So the
- 30:42lawyer's just like, I don't know how he did it
- 30:44either. He had a source that told him.
- 30:44KARA: At the
- 30:47library, Simone approaches Toby.
- 30:47DANI: Everyone's
- 30:49always yapping in the library. Toby's basically
- 30:51like hey, Simone, not going to do the gig.
- 30:54And she's like, totally fine. I don't even care
- 30:56at all. Whatever.
- 30:56KARA: Yeah. And then they fully make
- 30:59out in this library. It's crazy.
- 30:59DANI: You know what?
- 31:02Teens being teens.
- 31:02KARA: Yeah. Okay.
- 31:02DANI: Okay. And then
- 31:05Daphne goes back.
- 31:05KARA: She gets a text from the date.
- 31:09She's like, gotta go. Sorry, Wilke finish
- 31:11your sandwich. Back to the car wash. Travis is
- 31:14signing to John in his office, who is clueless,
- 31:17has no idea what's going on. Guys, get a piece
- 31:19of paper and write back and forth.
- 31:19DANI: Also, he should
- 31:22know a little.
- 31:22KARA: It's frustrating. Then Daphne
- 31:25arrives and she's like, what's up? And John is like,
- 31:28thank God you're here. Please tell Travis he
- 31:31is fired. Some customer came in and saw Travis.
- 31:35DANI: Not some customer, the guy that owns the rental
- 31:38car company.
- 31:38KARA: A big customer.
- 31:38DANI: A big customer.
- 31:40KARA: A big customer came in, saw Travis, and basically
- 31:44was like, I want someone who speaks English.
- 31:46And Travis flipped the guy off. He's right. Travis
- 31:50does what I wish I had the balls to do.
- 31:50DANI: Yeah,
- 31:52Travis is really, like, principled in that he
- 31:55will call anyone out, damn the consequences.
- 31:58KARA: I think it's beautiful.
- 31:58DANI: Which I really respect,
- 32:00but I'm also like, wow, I would never be able
- 32:03to do that.
- 32:03KARA: I personally would never and I could
- 32:04not because, again, that gets you fired.
- 32:04DANI: And
- 32:06then Travis signs to Daphne. If he fires me,
- 32:11I will sue him for discrimination.
- 32:11KARA: See you tomorrow!
- 32:14DANI: And then says, yeah, and my shift is over. And
- 32:16it's so funny because they're, like, standing
- 32:18at odds, Daphne in between him. She goes, and
- 32:21John's like, what is he saying? Daphne goes,
- 32:24he says, if you fire me, I'll sue you for discrimination.
- 32:27Silence. And also he says, my shift is over now.
- 32:30And then Travis just, like, dips out.
- 32:30KARA: And then
- 32:34Daphne runs after Travis. This is a great conversation.
- 32:37DANI: Yeah.
- 32:37KARA: And she's like, so what is your problem?
- 32:40You just can't threaten to sue people. Is that
- 32:43your idea of Deaf pride? And she makes this weird
- 32:45analogy. Like, are you going to sell pencils
- 32:47at the airport and then sue them if they don't
- 32:51buy it?
- 32:51DANI: You should get a job selling pencils
- 32:54at the airport and then sue people when they
- 32:56don't buy them.
- 32:56KARA: I did not get it.
- 32:56DANI: Was this like
- 32:58a 2012 thing that we're like forgetting?
- 32:58KARA: I have
- 33:01no idea.
- 33:01DANI: It felt so random, but okay.
- 33:01KARA: I was so
- 33:05confused.
- 33:05DANI: Whatever, Daphne.
- 33:05KARA: But then Travis says,
- 33:08well, this is better than your idea of deaf pride.
- 33:10I don't turn my deafness on and off when it's
- 33:12convenient. But then at the same time, a car
- 33:15is coming into the car wash and Daphne pulls
- 33:17Travis away from the car because he can't hear
- 33:19it. Great touch. Also, that car is going way
- 33:21too fast. It's the driver's fault.
- 33:21DANI: Agreed.
- 33:21KARA: And
- 33:24Travis says, well, I was just trying to help
- 33:26John and do my job. But then when the customer
- 33:29realized I was deaf, he just kept saying, never
- 33:31mind, never mind. And Daphne's like, yeah. I
- 33:34hate when hearing people do that, but that doesn't
- 33:36mean you can flip them off. And it's a car wash.
- 33:39Customers are assholes. And then Travis is like,
- 33:41okay, then I quit.
- 33:41DANI: She's right there.
- 33:41KARA: She is.
- 33:44DANI: She's like, customers are assholes. Like, any
- 33:46service job you're going to work. It's not a
- 33:47good thing. It shouldn't be that way.
- 33:47KARA: And it
- 33:50sucks that you may get more of the brunt of it
- 33:52because you're deaf, but I am so sorry.
- 33:52DANI: Yeah.
- 33:55KARA: But yeah, Travis takes off his shirt and says,
- 33:58I quit. And storms out. It's tough. I don't know
- 34:01if he should be flipping off customers. I think
- 34:04it's bad for business, unfortunately. Did the
- 34:06guy deserve it? Yes. That's my take.
- 34:06DANI: Craig and
- 34:09Kathryn are in the car and they're having their
- 34:13own kind of sandwich date in a way. He admits
- 34:16to her that she is his only client.
- 34:16KARA: So there's
- 34:20a lot vying on this for his job. On the two of
- 34:23them.
- 34:23DANI: And she's like, okay, shit, this is really
- 34:26important. I need to find Angelo.
- 34:26KARA: Next scene.
- 34:29We're with Bay and Emmett in the bedroom.
- 34:29DANI: Don't say
- 34:32it like that.
- 34:32KARA: Okay, next scene.
- 34:32DANI: There's nothing
- 34:34sexy about this scene.
- 34:34KARA: You're right. We're with Bay
- 34:36and Emmett in the bedroom, but she is showing
- 34:40him her sketches for his new motorcycle that
- 34:43he's building. Emmett now has a free pass to
- 34:45be an asshole again, now that he knows Ty is
- 34:48okay. So he goes, I don't like these. I don't
- 34:51like this art. No.
- 34:51DANI: Yeah, he's being so weird.
- 34:54KARA: So mean. And these illustrations are actually
- 34:56better this time.
- 34:56DANI: Yeah, they are.
- 34:56KARA: Yeah. I like-
- 34:59DANI: They really put effort into them.
- 34:59KARA: I really like
- 35:02the blue ghost flame.
- 35:02DANI: Yeah.
- 35:02KARA: I was like, that's
- 35:04cool.
- 35:04DANI: It's cool. She's trying to be supportive.
- 35:07And he's like, yeah, just being kind of a dick.
- 35:10And then she's like, okay, what's wrong?
- 35:10KARA: Yeah,
- 35:12she always has to ask him.
- 35:12DANI: He needs to be more
- 35:15forthcoming. And he's like, are we just going
- 35:18to pretend like you haven't been emailing with
- 35:21your ex-boyfriend this whole time? That's really
- 35:24a watered down take on what's happening.
- 35:24KARA: It really
- 35:27is.
- 35:27DANI: It wasn't a secret.
- 35:27KARA: It wasn't? Yeah, I guess
- 35:30it wasn't.
- 35:30DANI: And then he's like, well, did you
- 35:32tell Ty about me?
- 35:32KARA: And she was like, I may have.
- 35:35DANI: Yeah, this is tough the way she, I think she
- 35:37clearly hasn't. And she's sort of like hiding
- 35:40that by being like, I don't know. I don't remember
- 35:42if I told him about you. Like, it honestly wasn't
- 35:44important. Like, it didn't come up. And he's
- 35:46like, oh, our relationship isn't important. You
- 35:48should have just said like, I didn't want to
- 35:50bother. Like, I don't talk about my personal
- 35:52life. I didn't want to bother him.
- 35:52KARA: Right.
- 35:52DANI: With
- 35:54that, when he's, like, fighting in a war. And
- 35:57then Emmett's like, okay, well, if it's, like,
- 35:59not a big deal, then let me see the emails. And
- 36:01she's like, what the fuck?
- 36:01KARA: And Bay's like, I
- 36:04would never ask to see your emails. And Emmett
- 36:06goes, yeah, because those are private. But then
- 36:08Bay gives in. You can really see, like, her
- 36:11head is spinning. And she's like, okay, here's
- 36:13when he talked about his meals, and here's me
- 36:16talking about my physics test. And then one email
- 36:19does come up, and it's Ty sitting on a tank,
- 36:22and the tank displays Bay's street art, which really
- 36:26sends Emmett over the edge. I also want to note
- 36:28that the Photoshop of Ty on the tank was wild.
- 36:31His head is like four times too big for his body.
- 36:33DANI: Yeah, it's not a great image. Also, the, like,
- 36:36axe girl is like not on the tank like it's so
- 36:40like pasted. The image is so pasted over the picture
- 36:43of the tank. I will give Emmett this. When they're
- 36:46first doing the street art together, she does
- 36:49say to him like no one else in my life knows
- 36:51about this. And I remember at the time even being
- 36:54like, that's not true, Bay. Because Ty knows and
- 36:56he's just left.
- 36:56KARA: I know.
- 36:56DANI: Like she does deliberately
- 36:59say that to Emmett and I don't think she was
- 37:01lying. I think she was just meant like-
- 37:01KARA: No one
- 37:04in my life here.
- 37:04DANI: Yeah, Ty's gone now.
- 37:04KARA: That's
- 37:07true. No one in, like, her current everyday life
- 37:09knows.
- 37:09DANI: No, and it's also not entirely the same,
- 37:13like she said, like, he caught me doing it versus
- 37:15it feels like something her and Emmett share together.
- 37:19You know, it was, like, more intentional
- 37:21when she shared it with him.
- 37:21KARA: I agree.
- 37:21DANI: But Ty
- 37:23did help her a lot.
- 37:23KARA: He did. They were both
- 37:26quite involved.
- 37:26DANI: So I think that was sort of a
- 37:28misrepresentation on her part. And I think
- 37:31Emmett being so touchy about that is probably
- 37:33due to that.
- 37:33KARA: Yes. I think he sees it as a breach
- 37:37of trust. Bay and Emmett's relationship right
- 37:39now just feels like a series of breakups and
- 37:41makeups. It's getting to the point where it's
- 37:44exhausting.
- 37:44DANI: Yeah. I know. They're like never
- 37:46happy together.
- 37:46KARA: It's been like four episodes
- 37:48of this. Emmett's in a bad mood and then Bay
- 37:51has to pull it out of him and then they get into
- 37:53this fight and then they make up.
- 37:53DANI: When they make
- 37:55up, like nothing gets resolved.
- 37:55KARA: No. They're just
- 37:57like, okay.
- 37:57DANI: It's just like, okay, let's stop
- 37:59fighting.
- 37:59KARA: I guess that's what teens do.
- 37:59DANI: It shouldn't
- 38:02be. You guys should find common ground.
- 38:02KARA: I know.
- 38:06DANI: So then we're at Carlton and Emmett is studying
- 38:11with Daphne now.
- 38:11KARA: Yes. And Daphne is ranting to
- 38:14Emmett about Travis and his behavior at the car
- 38:17wash and whatnot.
- 38:17DANI: Yes. And Emmett keeps being
- 38:19like, can we please just study?
- 38:19KARA: It's like, he
- 38:21does not care. He said Travis moved here four
- 38:23months ago and he's already alienated everyone
- 38:26here. So just let it go.
- 38:26DANI: Yeah.
- 38:26KARA: And then Daphne
- 38:29goes, but I just want to help him. He clearly
- 38:31is having a hard time. And Emmett says, there
- 38:34are just some people that you can't help. I have
- 38:36biology. Bye. And then Daphne's like-
- 38:36DANI: Wait, you
- 38:40dropped biology to take speech therapy? And he
- 38:42goes, no, I'm done with that.
- 38:42KARA: Did he drop speech
- 38:44therapy because he's mad at Bay?
- 38:44DANI: Genuinely, I
- 38:47think yes.
- 38:47KARA: Right?
- 38:47DANI: I feel like yes. He should
- 38:51have anyway. He should have been like, this isn't
- 38:53me.
- 38:53KARA: Biology is so important, guys.
- 38:53DANI: I don't care
- 38:55about that as much as I just, he's, he should
- 38:58drop the thing that's driving him to drink.
- 38:58KARA: And
- 39:00also, he needs to get his grades back up, and
- 39:03I don't think speech therapy has grades, you
- 39:05know?
- 39:05DANI: Think of his GPA. Kathryn comes to Regina.
- 39:08KARA: Regina's planting?
- 39:08DANI: I don't know what Regina's
- 39:11up to this whole episode. We see her at the start,
- 39:13and then in this scene, and then I think that's
- 39:15it. Yeah, Constance Marie was booked and busy
- 39:18with something else this week, I guess. And Kathryn's
- 39:21just like, do you know where Angelo is because
- 39:24I like really need to find his secret source
- 39:25and she admits that she had a missed call from
- 39:28him that we saw in the montage a couple episodes
- 39:30back.
- 39:30KARA: Yes.
- 39:30DANI: But that when she called the number
- 39:34back it had been disconnected. Do you think this
- 39:36is true?
- 39:36KARA: No.
- 39:36DANI: Yeah me either.
- 39:36KARA: Because when Kathryn
- 39:39walks away the camera lingers on Regina for like
- 39:42just a second too long.
- 39:42DANI: Yeah.
- 39:42KARA: I don't believe Regina.
- 39:45DANI: I don't believe her. And then Toby's at the school
- 39:48gym? The scene was so weird. Like, Toby's so
- 39:52not like a workout on the machine at the gym
- 39:55type of boy.
- 39:55KARA: I know. The whole point is that
- 39:57Wilke comes in and he's like, by the way, someone
- 40:00narced on this party that we were supposed to
- 40:03perform at. So our gig on Saturday's a no-go.
- 40:06So you can do whatever you were planning on doing.
- 40:08That's it.
- 40:08DANI: Daphne goes to visit Travis.
- 40:08KARA: Yeah,
- 40:12a lot of thoughts on this part. Daphne knocks
- 40:14on the door to Travis's house, and his mom opens
- 40:17the door. And Daphne signs, only signs, no
- 40:20simcomming. And she goes, hi, I'm Daphne.
- 40:20DANI: Kind
- 40:23of out of character for her.
- 40:23KARA: Yeah. I guess she
- 40:25assumed Travis's parents were either deaf or
- 40:28knew sign. Maybe because her only interaction
- 40:31with other deaf people is Emmett, who has deaf
- 40:33parents. So she signs, hi, I'm Daphne. I'm here
- 40:37to see Travis. I go to Carlton too. And the
- 40:39mom's clueless. But I think because she sees Daphne
- 40:42signing, she goes, oh, you must be one of the
- 40:45other deaf kids that goes to Carlton with my
- 40:47son.
- 40:47DANI: And she says it so loud, guys.
- 40:47KARA: Yells it.
- 40:50DANI: She is yelling at Daphne.
- 40:50KARA: And then Daphne voices,
- 40:54and she's like, oh, okay, you're hearing? Yeah,
- 40:56I go to Carlton, and the mom goes, oh, you talk?
- 40:59Thank God.
- 40:59DANI: [GROANS]
- 40:59KARA: Come on in. Travis is just in
- 41:03his room playing video games, and she lets Daphne
- 41:06in. And Daphne sees Travis, and she goes, hey.
- 41:10I came here to yell at you, but I don't think
- 41:12I'm going to do that anymore. I see that your
- 41:14mom doesn't sign. What's up with that? And Travis
- 41:16goes, my parents could not be bothered. And my
- 41:19little brother only wants to know the signs for
- 41:21bad words. Guys, if you know a deaf person in
- 41:24your life, don't do either of those things.
- 41:24DANI: And
- 41:26then she says, well, how do you communicate with
- 41:29them? And there's just like a silence. And then
- 41:32he says, I have a lot of great conversations
- 41:34with myself, though.
- 41:34KARA: Which is the time for me
- 41:36to share this statistic that 95% of deaf children
- 41:39are born to hearing parents, but only 8 to
- 41:4310% of parents will learn ASL for their deaf
- 41:46child. Like, this is quite the reality for so
- 41:50many deaf people.
- 41:50DANI: I remember watching this episode
- 41:52on TV and being outraged and shocked because
- 41:57I didn't know that.
- 41:57KARA: Right.
- 41:57DANI: And up to this point,
- 42:01the show, like Travis is such an important character
- 42:04to include because yes, it's so great to see
- 42:08like Emmett who has that strong foundation of
- 42:10Deaf pride and like being so involved in the
- 42:13Deaf community.
- 42:13KARA: But I would say he might be the
- 42:15minority.
- 42:15DANI: Yeah. And then it's obviously good
- 42:18to see Daphne who like navigates between the
- 42:20two worlds, albeit unrealistically good. But
- 42:23yeah, I feel like this is the first character
- 42:25that we're seeing who has like, what is like
- 42:28statistically the most common experience. Yeah
- 42:31it's just like fucking heartbreaking to watch.
- 42:34KARA: Did you see that bobsledder who won gold? She
- 42:38has two deaf sons and she signs, mommy won.
- 42:38DANI: Yeah.
- 42:40KARA: That scene particularly reminded me of that because
- 42:43you know, she is one of those parents she's the
- 42:45eight to ten percent of hearing parents that
- 42:48learn sign for their deaf children.
- 42:48DANI: Yeah.
- 42:48KARA: So I
- 42:51think that- I was just thinking about that particular
- 42:53clip and how cool that was to see that she learned
- 42:57sign to, you know, meet her children where they're
- 43:00at and to empower them. Elena Myers-Taylor.
- 43:02It made me tear up when I saw that clip. I watched
- 43:04it on the way here just to remind myself.
- 43:04DANI: It's
- 43:07really powerful. So cute.
- 43:07KARA: And then at the closing
- 43:09ceremony, I think it's the closing ceremony or
- 43:12at least when Elena Myers-Taylor gets her gold.
- 43:14It's after when she says, Mommy won, but Dad
- 43:17is also signing to the child. And he's like,
- 43:19look, there's Mom. And then the kid also signs,
- 43:22Mom, there's Mom.
- 43:22DANI: So sweet.
- 43:22KARA: Sign is so cool,
- 43:25guys. But anyways, as Daphne is hearing about
- 43:27this from Travis, I think she's realizing how
- 43:30easy she has it. You know, her family, maybe
- 43:33not John, but they have learned sign at least
- 43:35to the best of their ability and they're making
- 43:37the effort.
- 43:37DANI: And she says, my dad may be the worst
- 43:40signer in the world, but he's like not a bad
- 43:43guy and you shouldn't. It's kind of funny because
- 43:47she's like, you shouldn't have quit. Because,
- 43:49like, give him another chance. And it's like,
- 43:50well, John was trying to fire him anyway.
- 43:50KARA: He
- 43:53he did not offer him the job back.
- 43:53DANI: Right. Yeah,
- 43:55she does go not all hearing people.
- 43:55KARA: Not all hearing
- 43:57people. My dad is cool. I also want to point
- 44:00out, I think she realizes that she can really
- 44:01pass in the hearing world. And Travis can't.
- 44:04Now we're at Buckner. And Toby is telling Simone,
- 44:08by the way, the Guitar Face gig went south.
- 44:12If you still have the Take Five gig open, I'm
- 44:15happy to do that. But maybe someone else took
- 44:17it already. And Simone is like...
- 44:17DANI: his is such
- 44:19a bad lie.
- 44:19KARA: Yep, I actually never called and canceled,
- 44:23so it's all yours.
- 44:23DANI: She says, thank God you have
- 44:25an absent-minded girlfriend who totally forgot
- 44:28to call and cancel. And he goes, oh shit, was
- 44:31it you who ratted about the party? And she's
- 44:35like, doesn't even try to hide it. She goes,
- 44:36all right, yeah, it was me with the candlestick
- 44:39in the billiards room. And it's like, this isn't
- 44:41funny.
- 44:41KARA: Oh, and Toby says, that's not funny.
- 44:41DANI: Yeah,
- 44:44he says, what the hell?
- 44:44KARA: And honestly, you're
- 44:46scaring me.
- 44:46DANI: Okay, this is the first time he's
- 44:49scared of her? Simone is scary.
- 44:49KARA: She terrifies
- 44:52me.
- 44:52DANI: She's really scary.
- 44:52KARA: Yeah. Well, he rightfully
- 44:55walks away. I think he should have just dumped
- 44:58her right there.
- 44:58DANI: Me too. Yeah, she says, can
- 45:00you forgive me? And he goes, I don't know. The
- 45:02answer is no. That's weird behavior. Also, because
- 45:05you already told her to back off about this stuff.
- 45:07So the fact that she can't, she's like a dog
- 45:09with a bone. Also, this is unrelated, but the
- 45:12exterior of this shot is so not on Buckner's
- 45:16campus.
- 45:16KARA: Oh, is it not?
- 45:16DANI: Like it's outside their
- 45:18gym, but it's like a public rec center of a park.
- 45:22KARA: Sure.
- 45:22DANI: I was shocked. I was like, you guys expect
- 45:25me to think that this is where the new aquatic
- 45:27center is going? Like there's no way.
- 45:27KARA: We're back
- 45:30at the car wash and Travis knocks on the door
- 45:32to John's office and John says come in, but obviously
- 45:35Travis can't hear so he just keeps knocking. Nice
- 45:38touch. But then John realizes and lets him in.
- 45:40Travis tries to sign. John is clueless. And then
- 45:44he whips out the notes app on his phone.
- 45:44DANI: He's
- 45:46literally signing, give me a second chance.
- 45:46DANI: He's
- 45:48going so slow and easy.
- 45:48KARA: And then John thinks,
- 45:52you want me to pay you double? Forget it.
- 45:52DANI: You're
- 45:55getting that from just two.
- 45:55KARA: And Travis goes,
- 45:58types on the notes app, please give me a second
- 46:00chance. And John is like, okay.
- 46:00DANI: Yeah. He says,
- 46:04everyone here gets one big screw up. You've already
- 46:08used yours. So like. But like, come, welcome
- 46:11back.
- 46:11KARA: Yeah.
- 46:11DANI: And then he says, obviously the rental
- 46:13car guy is an asshole.
- 46:13KARA: But you have to be nice
- 46:16to him.
- 46:16DANI: But if I have to fucking be nice to him,
- 46:18so do you.
- 46:18KARA: Yeah.
- 46:18DANI: It's like, yeah, that's like
- 46:20a fair, like, but part of the fun of a job is
- 46:23to talk shit about the customers behind their
- 46:25back. Travis is going to love that part of the
- 46:27job. And John needs to learn sign so they can
- 46:30shit talk together.
- 46:30DANI: So they can shit talk. But
- 46:32Travis says, thank you. And John does one sign.
- 46:34He says, you're welcome.
- 46:34KARA: Yeah.
- 46:34DANI: Okay. And then
- 46:37John goes straight home and takes out his frustration
- 46:40on Kathryn. Yeah. He's still really mad at
- 46:42her.
- 46:42KARA: I think it's fair.
- 46:42DANI: Yeah. I don't know. This
- 46:45is a tough one.
- 46:45KARA: Yeah, Kathryn's like, are you
- 46:48going to hold this over me forever? And he's
- 46:49like, I'm mad.
- 46:49DANI: Obviously she's working on it
- 46:52because she's like trying to find.
- 46:52KARA: Next scene
- 46:54it's nighttime and Daphne and Wilke are making
- 46:57out in his car. And then Daphne decides, okay,
- 47:01time out. And then turned on the car light. I want
- 47:03the sign. She's like, let's do name signs first.
- 47:06So my name sign is Daphne. And she shows him
- 47:10the sign. And your name sign is W. And you're
- 47:13pushing your hair back. I cannot believe he didn't
- 47:16know he had a name sign. He does not deserve
- 47:18one.
- 47:18DANI: No, he definitely doesn't. And also, Emmett's
- 47:21in his band.
- 47:21KARA: Oh, right. Emmett gave it to him.
- 47:24That's crazy. He goes, that's my name sign?
- 47:24DANI: He
- 47:27says, isn't it a little vain? And Daphne goes,
- 47:29yeah, you're vain.
- 47:29KARA: And he goes, yeah, you're
- 47:31right. And then he goes, well, what if my name
- 47:35sign is like rock on? And Daphne goes- this is
- 47:37like Liam in episode two.
- 47:37DANI: Yes. Poor Daphne.
- 47:37KARA: Or
- 47:41like episode one.
- 47:41DANI: She has to do this every time.
- 47:43KARA: That's the experience of being a deaf person.
- 47:46You have to explain this shit to hearing people.
- 47:46DANI: But she's
- 47:49also dating hearing boys repeatedly back to back.
- 47:52Rich Buckner boys.
- 47:52KARA: But she's like, okay, so
- 47:54that's not how it works. You need to get it from
- 47:58a Deaf person. You can't just give it to yourself.
- 48:00And then Wilke's like, but can we go back to
- 48:02making out, please? And then that's-
- 48:02DANI: Yeah, well,
- 48:05she's like, I need you to take this seriously.
- 48:07It's important to me.
- 48:07KARA: Right.
- 48:07DANI: And Wilke goes,
- 48:10okay. Well, tell me the sign for let's make out.
- 48:14And Daphne's like, come on. And he goes, well,
- 48:17no, it's like in school, like you learn the phrases
- 48:20that you're going to use the most first. She
- 48:22tries to teach it to him. And then he takes that
- 48:24as...
- 48:24KARA: I thought you'd never ask.
- 48:24DANI: Yeah.
- 48:24KARA: And then
- 48:26he starts kissing her again.
- 48:26DANI: And then she turns
- 48:28off the light.
- 48:28KARA: Poor Daphne. This would have been
- 48:32a great time for her to shove him and then leave
- 48:34the car.
- 48:34DANI: Or just be like, I'm not going to make
- 48:36out with you until you fucking learn some stuff
- 48:39at least.
- 48:39KARA: He doesn't do a single sign.
- 48:39DANI: I think
- 48:41he can't tell how serious she's being because
- 48:44he doesn't know.
- 48:44KARA: But she says, this is important
- 48:47to me.
- 48:47DANI: I just feel like her and Wilke can't
- 48:50get on the same wavelength. So he can't like,
- 48:53yeah, he's just like not taking her seriously
- 48:55and he needs to be.
- 48:55KARA: I know. She's driving me
- 48:58crazy. Next scene, Toby approaches Detective
- 49:01Kathryn while she's still working. And he basically
- 49:04is coming to ask for advice about Simone. And
- 49:07he goes, if someone did something you didn't
- 49:09agree with and they lied to you, but they were
- 49:12just trying to help, would you still be mad at
- 49:14them? And Kathryn, speaking for herself because
- 49:17she just did something that she was trying to
- 49:19help someone with and lied, goes, I think I would
- 49:22give them the benefit of the doubt.
- 49:22DANI: Girl, wrong
- 49:24call here.
- 49:24KARA: Okay.
- 49:24DANI: And then as he's walking out,
- 49:28she goes, is Mary Jane Watson hot? And he goes,
- 49:32yeah, she's a smoke-show redhead. Don't say that
- 49:35to your redhead mom. It's weird. And then he's
- 49:38like, and also she's like a badass.
- 49:38KARA: She's got
- 49:41balls.
- 49:41DANI: She's got balls. She's ballsy. And Kathryn's
- 49:44like, oh, that's nice. She was comparing me to
- 49:48her. That's nice. Bay is once again she's really
- 49:51been in her garage this entire episode.
- 49:51KARA: I know.
- 49:55DANI: She's in her garage. She gets a call. It's Ty.
- 49:55KARA: Yeah.
- 49:59Who cannot be here right now because he's doing
- 50:01The Lying Game.
- 50:01DANI: And they're kind of talking. Ty
- 50:04said- she says I'm so glad you're okay and he
- 50:06says yeah I'm being really careful over here.
- 50:08I don't know if that mattered. When the helicopter
- 50:11goes down, like, it's not like they crashed it
- 50:13on purpose.
- 50:13KARA: No, I think they, a missile or something
- 50:16hit the helicopter.
- 50:16DANI: Yeah, or the helicopter crashed
- 50:18because, like, something went wrong with the
- 50:20helicopter. Anyway, we don't know the details
- 50:22of that, but I don't know how careful he's, how
- 50:24much control he has. But they're talking, it's
- 50:27a little awkward. And he says, like, I can't
- 50:31wait till I'm back there and we can, like, run
- 50:33around town and put up a bunch of street art
- 50:36together.
- 50:36KARA: And Bay's like, I have a boyfriend.
- 50:38DANI: And Bay's like, ooh, I know we didn't make any
- 50:41promises to each other, but I think it's good
- 50:43for you to know that I'm seeing someone and that
- 50:45someone is Emmett. And Ty's like, wow.
- 50:45KARA: That's
- 50:48great.
- 50:48DANI: That's great. I kind of wonder if Ty is
- 50:50like putting together in his head that Bay was
- 50:52just like looking for someone from her like almost
- 50:55life, to date. You know what I mean? Because Emmett
- 50:58similarly is like someone close to what her life
- 51:01would have been. I don't know. I feel like if
- 51:03I was Ty, I would be like, damn okay so this
- 51:06was all just because of that.
- 51:06KARA: That is possible.
- 51:08DANI: And he's like that's great, good for you, anyway
- 51:11I gotta go and then he hangs up. And then that's
- 51:16the end of the episode.
- 51:16KARA: Yeah, Bay's like clutching
- 51:18the phone to her chest like wistfully looking
- 51:20into the distance.
- 51:20DANI: Yeah. Which I get. Her boyfriend's
- 51:24been really shitty for like a couple weeks now.
- 51:27KARA: I know.
- 51:27DANI: It's easy to romanticize the man who's
- 51:30far off in another country even if he is probably
- 51:33doing war crimes over there.
- 51:33KARA: Yeah.
- 51:33DANI: Good episode
- 51:36overall, yeah, lots to chew on.
- 51:36KARA: I am so happy Travis
- 51:40is here.
- 51:40DANI: Me too.
- 51:40KARA: And that we got to see this arc
- 51:43all in one episode from like this asshole kid
- 51:46to someone we kind of pity.
- 51:46DANI: Yeah. Like, yeah, I empathize
- 51:50with him so much.
- 51:50KARA: And I think we're gonna end
- 51:52up loving him, as I did.
- 51:52DANI: Yeah guys, Travis is here
- 51:56to stay.
- 51:56KARA: Love you, Travis.
- 51:56DANI: Love you, Travis. I
- 51:59wanted to note that Bay is rocking a lot of statement
- 52:01necklaces this whole episode, and they all suck.
- 52:04KARA: She's always rocking a statement necklace.
- 52:04DANI: They
- 52:06were especially prominent. Like, they're getting
- 52:08comically larger.
- 52:08KARA: They're huge.
- 52:08DANI: They must be
- 52:11heavy.
- 52:11KARA: She has bad posture. She's slouching forward
- 52:14with them.
- 52:14DANI: It's the weight of those necklaces.
- 52:16Damn.
- 52:16KARA: Well, thank you for listening, guys.
- 52:16DANI: Thanks
- 52:18for listening, guys.
- 52:18KARA: And we'll see you next week.
- 52:21Bye.
