- 5:02I kind of dropped abat. But tonight I am prepared to share.
- 5:06And I'm only gonna share from my from from from my experience, not gonna
- 5:11say my expertise because I've yet to walk in those that in that arena yet.
- 5:15But y'all, I'm working on it, so I can tell you.
- 5:18You can look at these papers right here. You see these papers right here.
- 5:23I am going to be working on my Masters of Science and Counseling and
- 5:27clinical mental health counseling. That is something that I have wanted to do,
- 5:31and starting in January, I am going to move forward with that. I'm
- 5:36excited about that because in December, I'm gonna be walking with my first masters,
- 5:41y'all. I'm just excited because as I look back and and and and
- 5:47think about you know, I often we think about legacy and breaking these generational
- 5:57curses and these things that you know, come to hinder us from that we're
- 6:02on and a lot of it can see him from. So, you know
- 6:41what, I'm about to check some things out and see what's going on,
- 6:46because there seems seems to be some laughing and I definitely don't want that because
- 6:51I want to make sure that everybody is getting and receiving this that I have
- 6:57on today that was dropped in my spirit and I was given a chance to,
- 7:00you know, look up some things and think about some things and share
- 7:03some things. So again, so you guys know where I'm coming from.
- 7:08I'm not coming to you guys as a professional. I'm coming to you from
- 7:12someone that has experienced this, y'all. We we we we actually wrote a
- 7:16book about it. We we we got a poetry book right here y'all that
- 7:21has that that just released it is a poetry book entitled Seeds of Immortaritality.
- 7:30The legacy chronicles a journey through time and eternity. So there is some amazing
- 7:38queens that sharing poetry inside of this book. And at the back of the
- 7:43book, y'all, there's some resources, y'all. You got some coloring pages,
- 7:47you got some journal and pages. You got some exercises that you can
- 7:50do. You can work out your own self care, you can work out
- 7:56your own program by selecting some of these things. And we're gonna talk about
- 8:03some of these things. As I shared with you what I've prepared, y'all,
- 8:07I'm not for you long. I jotted down what I'm gonna share with
- 8:09you guys. As matter of fact, I'm just gonna share it. You
- 8:13know, I'm just gonna share it tonight. I'm just gonna share, and
- 8:16I'm gonna move on, not your way. I don't want to keep you
- 8:18long. I definitely said I was not gonna be past thirty minutes, so
- 8:22y'all know that mean I got to move quick because this is a lot of
- 8:26stuff and I want to make sure that everybody get it and everybody is able
- 8:31to ask questions if they want to ask questions, post comments, and if
- 8:35they have something that they want to share, if they have books that you
- 8:39know is around mental health, if they have programs around mental health, service
- 8:43around mental health, whatever you have that's around mental health, empowerment and encouragement,
- 8:48we want you to post that in the comments section so that they can
- 8:52be shared out so the individuals can be able to contact you guys. So
- 8:56before I jump into this, for those that do not know who I am,
- 9:01I am, of course the visionary of the Crew podcast. I am
- 9:05Queen Angela Thomas, known as the Queen of Collaboration aka the Purpose Pusher.
- 9:13I tell you I am excited every time I get an opportunity to come from
- 9:18behind the scenes and to come out and share a little bit. Again,
- 9:24this is not my expertise. It's just sharing from my experience and the things
- 9:28that I have done and things that people around me have done and incorporated into
- 9:33their lives. Because these we're sharing from experience. We're not telling you nothing
- 9:39that we have not been through. These are our experiences, these are our
- 9:43truth, this is our life. So we're just giving your perspective. You
- 9:48can take the nuggets and apply them to your life accordingly. Everything may not
- 9:52work for you. Your situation may may not be like these situations over here.
- 9:56So we want you to be able to be comfortable where you are and
- 10:01to be able to do the things that you need to do. So today
- 10:05I come before you with a crucial topic that needs our univided detention mental health.
- 10:13Of course, I am a suicide attempt of liver. For far too
- 10:20long, mental health have been stigmatized and neglected in our society. It is
- 10:28time for us to shatter the silence, to break down the barriers, and
- 10:33to have an open conversation and discussion about the importance of mental well being.
- 10:39We can't continue to ignore the fact that mental health effect millions of people worldwide,
- 10:46regardless of age, gender, race, or social status. It is
- 10:54reality that we must confront it head on and address it with compassion, understanding,
- 11:03and empathy. We must recognize that mental health is not just aaa,
- 11:11not just a illness, but it's just as important as our physical health.
- 11:16We talk about and we advocate for cancer, diabetes, sickle cell and these
- 11:24various things, but we don't advocate for our mental health. Our blind is
- 11:31just as important as our bodies. It requires care, nurture, and attention.
- 11:39We must strive to create a safe and supportive environment where individuals feel comfortable
- 11:48to seek help, to share their struggles, and to receive the report that
- 11:52they need. Let us educate ourselves and others about mental health, raise awareness,
- 12:03and eradicate the misconceptions and the mint surrounding it. Let us advocate for
- 12:11accessibility and affordable mental health resources and services to all. Let us stand for
- 12:18solidarity with those who are battling mental health and show that they are not alone.
- 12:26Together, we can break the silence and the stigma that surround mental health.
- 12:33Together, we can create a society that values and prioritize mental health and
- 12:46well being. Let's start the conversation. Let's listen to each other. Let's
- 12:52support one another on our journeys towards mental wellness. It's time to break the
- 12:58stigma. It's time to talk about mental health. Together, we can create
- 13:03a society that values and prioritize life. Let's work out and let's be compassion
- 13:16for each other. Remember, mental health is just as important as physical health,
- 13:22So let's talk about normalizing mental health and wellness daily. We need to
- 13:31take a proactive and intentional approach. Here are some ways that we can start,
- 13:37and I jotted down some ways that we can do this. We day.
- 13:46There's seven steps that there are seven different steps that we're going to talk
- 13:50about. I broke them down and as a matter of fact, there's five
- 13:56that we're going to talk about. Educate and awareness, open dialogue, deff
- 14:03care practice, setting boundaries which some of us don't know how to do,
- 14:09support systems, and advocate in actions. The first education and awareness, And
- 14:16I said I was gonna be loan, so I gotta speed up, y'all
- 14:20because I got nineteen minutes. We need to educate ourselves and others about mental
- 14:24health. That include understanding the coming mental health conditions, recognizing science and symptoms,
- 14:31and learning about available resources and support services. By increasing awareness, we
- 14:35can reduce the stigma and create a more understanding and supportive community. Two open
- 14:43dourlgue. We need to encourage open and honest conversation about mental health. We
- 14:50need to talk openly about open experiences, share struggles, and listen, listen
- 14:58to others. We can break down those bearers instickness and show that it's okay
- 15:05to not be okay. By normalizing the conversation, we can create a safe
- 15:11space for people to seek help and support. Remember, create a safe place
- 15:18where people can have support and help. We can normalize the conversation. We
- 15:26can have these conversations on a daily basis, y'all. It's not just talk
- 15:31about it sometimes. Let's talk about it all the time. Number three,
- 15:37Self care practice. Prioritize in self care and mental wellness in our daily routines
- 15:46is essential. This is including activities such as exercising, meditation, journaling,
- 15:52and spending time and nature or engaging in hobbies that bring us joy. By
- 15:58taking care our own mental well being, we set a positive example for others
- 16:03to show the importance of self care. Self care is one of those things
- 16:07that I've been hyping on. I really been on that thing because I realized
- 16:14that I have too. I've been preaching it, but have I been doing
- 16:18it too? Off the time we talk about care, what are we really
- 16:22doing self care? We talk about it. So it's mental Health Awareness Month.
- 16:29It's some more things that being celebrated this month too, but I'm focusing
- 16:33on mental health awareness because it's affecting a lot of people. Because every time
- 16:37I turn on a TV, somebody has has has murdered, some they have
- 16:44they murdered somebody and killed themselves, Like, why would you take three babies
- 16:48lives and then take your life? And these not even your babies? Why
- 16:51would you take somebody else's babies? And then you leave your child here and
- 16:55then you lead the mother here and then she got the more the loss of
- 16:59her three keys, and then she got to raise your child. Like who
- 17:06does that? And what was going on in that person's mind? And how
- 17:10did nobody not see what was going on? And this is this is happening
- 17:15a lot, This has happened, happening in a lot of situations. You're
- 17:22looking at individuals. As a case in Texas right now, a lady killed
- 17:26a mother and a daughter. Why over an argument that your grown child had
- 17:30with a seventeen year old Now, this seventeen year old child, she her
- 17:36baby got to be raised with die her mama and without her grandmama. So
- 17:41you just ruin whole three lives, three families, because you got two generations
- 17:48that that's been affected right there, y'all. So what is really going on
- 17:55with our mental or are we taking care of ourselves? Are we allowing these
- 17:59things to build up on the inside and allow them to overtake us and overtake
- 18:03all your emotions, and then we don't have control of our emotions. Like
- 18:07I keep expressing how important it is to have these feelings and to allow these
- 18:15feelings to come out and to express these feelings. But no matter what emotion
- 18:19you're going through, no matter where you are, just don't stay that alone.
- 18:22Know how to go through it, to experience it and learn from it.
- 18:27That's why you need to journal what you're experiencing, what you're thinking,
- 18:30your thoughts. Y'all. As I'm walking, I'm journaling. I'm keeping track
- 18:37of my walking progress. Even the days that I'm not walking, I'm writing,
- 18:41and I'm being honest, I'm writing why I didn't walk, and I'm
- 18:45journaling my feelings. And at the end of this, who knows. I
- 18:49may put it in a book, I may talk about it. Who knows.
- 18:52But I'm letting these things out. And I tell you, sometimes it
- 18:59may not seem like it is going a lot, but it is really doing
- 19:02a lot. And then as we go into these different things, we're number
- 19:07three. We just I just read you about self care practice. So I'm
- 19:11gonna go into self care because self care is one of my things. And
- 19:15again I say, we just dropped a poetry book, y'all. We just
- 19:19dropped y'all. May not can't see it on Facebook, and but here it
- 19:23is. We just dropped this poetry book. In the back of this poetry
- 19:26book is nothing but exercises things that you can do to work on Look TikTok
- 19:36look exercises. You can journal, you can work on different things around your
- 19:42You got journaling. I mean, after you read this poetry and engage in
- 19:47this poetry, this poetry is gonna inside your mind and it's gonna talk about
- 19:52it's gonna the back of it is gonna talk about self care and applying these
- 19:56different things, y'all. I got a whole planner over here that that just
- 20:00you can just go through and just pick activities and just put activities together and
- 20:04plan how you gonna self care. Y'all. It's important that you get some
- 20:11type of routine, like I was saying. And we've been walking, and
- 20:14we may not been walking every day, but like I said, I've been
- 20:17journaling keeping up with what I've been doing. I didn't even get a half
- 20:21a mile in today because I really didn't. I really didn't walk. I
- 20:23just walked around some stores. That's it. I didn't go out and walk,
- 20:26y'all. The weather's kind of bad. And I'm not gonna blame on
- 20:30the weather because the other day, y'all know, when I went out,
- 20:32it was it was about the store. But then it didn't storm. But
- 20:37I was able to do three and a half miles or two and a half
- 20:41miles, however long it was. But self care, getting a routine,
- 20:45something that worked for you, even if it's just walking ten minutes, spending
- 20:49that time in nature, because I tell you, I was out there and
- 20:53the whole time, you know, the clouds went away and then it started
- 20:57getting high, and then it was like it was a breeze with me the
- 21:00whole time I was there. It's like God just wrapped his arms around me.
- 21:03It's just nothing like being out in nature, y'all and experiencing that that
- 21:10connection and being one is with yourself and you get to be by yourself.
- 21:14There's nobody out there but you and nature, that the spirit that be.
- 21:18That's it. So you get that opportunity. So daily self care is essential,
- 21:25y'all. I told y'all, I got twelve minutes, because eight thirty
- 21:26I'm gone. Daily self care is essential. For maintaining good mental health,
- 21:30reducing strength and has an overhauled well being. Taking care of yourself on a
- 21:37regular basis can help you feel more balanced, energized, resilience and face of
- 21:42life challenges. Here are seven ways to incorporate self care into your daily routine.
- 21:48Prioritize sleep. Make sure to get an adequate amount of quality sleep each
- 21:52night. Ain't for seven to nine hours of sleep to allow your body in
- 21:57mind to rest and recharge. Create a relaxing bedtime routine, such as reading
- 22:03a book or taking a warm bath to help you unwind and prepare for sleep.
- 22:07Two. Move your body regularly. Physical activity is crucial for both your
- 22:14physical and mental health. Incorporate exercise into your daily routine, whether it's going
- 22:19for a walk, taking a yoga class, or dancing to your favorite music.
- 22:26Exercise releases and endoorance. Y'all know that that's like I think they say,
- 22:36that's like what that feeling you get when you get high, so and
- 22:41that feeling you get when you have accomplished something. So it releases that when
- 22:47you exercise, which can improve your mood and reduce it stress. Y'all.
- 22:51Three, practice mindfulness. Take time each day to be present and mindful.
- 22:56This can include practice and meditation, debreases, X signs, or simply taking
- 23:00a few moments to focus on your surrounding and sensation. Mindfulness can help reduce
- 23:07anxiety, increase self awareness, and promote relaxation, y'all, just a few
- 23:11minutes a day, just a few minutes today. You can do it in
- 23:15your car, while you on your lunch break. You can do it sitting
- 23:18at your desk, while you just waiting in between your customers, your whatever,
- 23:23your clients, or whatever it is that you're service. Y'all. A
- 23:27lot of these things we can incorporate within what we do every day. Also,
- 23:34eating nutritious food. Fuel your body with nutritious food that nourish your mind
- 23:41and body. Aim to increase the variety of fruits and vegetables, whole grains,
- 23:47lean proteins, if you want that healthy facts in your in your meal,
- 23:52eat a Ballanced diet can boost your energy level, improve your mood,
- 23:56and support overall health. I'm with the fruit invents and increasing the amount of
- 24:02fruit and vegetable and take will help schedule me time five, schedule me time
- 24:10again, schedule me time, ParvE our time in your daily schedule daily.
- 24:15That means every single day, not just when you off, not just when
- 24:21you just know, every single day, every single day for any activity that
- 24:30brings you joy and relaxation, y'all, the little thing may bring you joy,
- 24:33The littlet thing may relax you. So if it's just having you a
- 24:37glass of wine before you go to sleep at night and sitting in a in
- 24:42a in a bubble bath, and if that brings you jaw and that relaxes
- 24:47you, take an extra ten minutes to do that every day. Now,
- 24:52it doesn't take a whole lot you. You gotta take a bath anyway,
- 24:55You gotta take a shower anyway. So why not take that extra step to
- 25:00to satisfy that extra that that extra thing about you, that that gonna help
- 25:04you in the long run. Because as we continue to build on this,
- 25:10and as we continue to grow, y'all, this becomes routine, This will
- 25:15come natural, This becomes a part of your lifestyle, This becomes you HM
- 25:23spend time in nature, y'all. Just make time for that activity so that
- 25:29you can be recharged and make you happy. Make you happy. You you
- 25:33hear that that magic word make you happy? Six Connect with others. I
- 25:41like this on y'all because I I write on this all the time. It's
- 25:45say connect with others. I'm gonna repeat that for the person that may not
- 25:52have hurt me. Connect TikTok, connect with others, Facebook, connect with
- 25:59others, LinkedIn, connect with others. You too, connect with others.
- 26:07Not everybody, connect with others. Remember you not on this journey by yourself.
- 26:11You don't have to do this alone, y'all. A lot of time
- 26:17we care more than we need to carry. And y'all, a lot of
- 26:21the stuff that I'm talking about, I had to go through this. I
- 26:23had to experience this, I had to learn myself, and some of it
- 26:26I'm still learning. Some of this are every day every day. I have
- 26:30to go through this. So connect with others. Social connections are important for
- 26:37mental health and well being. Take time to connect with friends, family and
- 26:41members, family members or loved ones each day. Each day, y'all,
- 26:47connect with somebody each day, even it's just by a brief phone call,
- 26:51a video chat, a test message. Building and maintaining relationships can improve support
- 26:56and comfort in a sense of belonging, y'all. Providing that support gets it
- 27:03for me, Providing that support gets it for me. I'm gonna say that
- 27:08again. Providing that support gets it for me. But see number seven is
- 27:14what causes a lot of people people to not want to do number six.
- 27:19And I get it, but I understand. You just got to understand how
- 27:23to do it, and that is setting boundaries. Establishing boundaries to protect your
- 27:32time, your energy, and your well being. Learning to say no to
- 27:37activities or commitments that drain you or causes you stress. Set limits on your
- 27:42work hours, screen time, and or other aspects of your life that may
- 27:48be overwhelming. And certain boundaries can prevent burnout and promote self care. That's
- 27:55important, y'all. Boundaries are important, so make sure that you incorporating that
- 28:00as well. Incorporating these seven things, these seven self care practices into your
- 28:07daily routine can help you prioritize your well being. It can create a healthier,
- 28:15more balanced lifestyle for you. Remember, self care is not selfish.
- 28:21It is essential to maintain your mental and physical health. Start small, pick
- 28:27a few self care practices that resonate with you, and gradually incorporate them into
- 28:34your daily routine. By taking care of yourself, you can better show up
- 28:41for others and navigate life's challenges. With resilience and positivity. Y'all stay taking
- 28:51care of yourself and then you'll be able to do that that God is,
- 28:53that God has purposed you to do for others. So if you take care,
- 29:00yeah, you first, he gonna make sure that everything else is taken
- 29:03care of. So y'all back to the main four topics, I mean the
- 29:10main topics. We are on number four now. That was a breakdown of
- 29:15self care. If you're just coming on, go back check out the self
- 29:21care section. I'm telling you this, It's gonna be some things that you're
- 29:23gonna want to grasp and jot down and take with you. For support systems,
- 29:30building a strong support system is crucial for mental health. This can include
- 29:33friends, family members, therapists, support groups, or online community. By
- 29:37surrounding yourself with people that's understanding and supporter, we can create a network of
- 29:47care and compassion people that will help you navigate in difficult times and improve yourself,
- 29:53your self and your mental well being. Five Advocacy and action. We
- 30:00can actively advocate mental health awareness and support systems in our community that can involve
- 30:07participate in mental health campaigns, volunteer for mental health organizations, or sharing resources
- 30:14and information on social media. By taking action, we can help to stigmatize
- 30:22mental health and promote a culture of wellness and support. By incorporating these strategies
- 30:30into our daily lives, we can begin to normalize mental health and wellness and
- 30:36create a more compassionate and understanding society. Let's prioritize mental health and enjoy our
- 30:45health every day and work together to build a community that values and support mental
- 30:52health and our physical health. I want to thank you guys for tuning in
- 30:56tonight again. I want to include this disclaimer that I am not a mental
- 31:04health professional. However, in January, y'all, I will be enrolling in
- 31:10the University of Phoenix pursuing my Masters in Science, Masters of Science and counseling
- 31:21up in clinical mental health counseling. So I'm going to be working on that,
- 31:26y'all. I walk in December with my masters, my first masters,
