- 0:00Speaker 1: Weekdays, 3 to 7 p.m.
- 0:03Speaker 2: The Flash Drive with Carl Wastey on KFM 94.5. That's
- 0:08Speaker 2: what it is. Welcome, welcome.
- 0:09Speaker 3: It is your show, Flash Drive, KFM 94.5. It's another
- 0:12Speaker 3: week for us to get it going. So let's go together, man.
- 0:15Speaker 3: You know, it's been a weekend of note. There were
- 0:18Speaker 3: a lot of things happening over the weekend.
- 0:19Speaker 2: My word.
- 0:20Speaker 3: But now you need a bit of energy and that's
- 0:22Speaker 3: why Cassidy Jade Nicholson and me, Carl Wastey and Jodie
- 0:26Speaker 3: West and producer Beatrice and Karen Ann and, and, and
- 0:29Speaker 3: are all here to make sure you are thoroughly entertained.
- 0:32Speaker 2: Cassidy Jade Nicholson.
- 0:33Speaker 4: Hey, hello. How's it?
- 0:35Speaker 5: Shoo.
- 0:37Speaker 2: What a weekend. Oh, I know.
- 0:39Speaker 4: I know. I'm still tired.
- 0:44Speaker 2: So I did something mall this weekend.
- 0:47Speaker 4: Tell me about it.
- 0:48Speaker 2: Remember what I told you?
- 0:50Speaker 3: I told you that I was asked by our guest.
- 0:55Speaker 5: Mr.
- 0:55Speaker 2: Neo. Yeah, Friday.
- 0:57Speaker 3: Neo said like, hey, you're going to be here tomorrow?
- 1:00Speaker 3: And then his team asked me to emcee his thing, man.
- 1:03Speaker 2: You know? That's really cool. Sounds like liquor. Thanks for asking.
- 1:08Speaker 2: But I was away that weekend. All right.
- 1:10Speaker 3: You know, like I was just like, you know, so
- 1:12Speaker 3: I was thinking that, you know, after the top 40,
- 1:14Speaker 3: I get out, go away, that sort of thing.
- 1:16Speaker 2: So I did a crazy thing. Did you drive up
- 1:19Speaker 2: to where you... I went, yeah.
- 1:20Speaker 3: So you do a little top 40. You drive off
- 1:23Speaker 3: to a beautiful place. You drive back to Grand Arena.
- 1:26Speaker 3: You drive back to beautiful place so you can wake
- 1:29Speaker 3: up in said beautiful place. So it's been that type
- 1:31Speaker 3: of weekend for me. I did a lot of driving
- 1:32Speaker 3: this weekend. My word, it's been so good.
- 1:34Speaker 6: For a little bit of context, can I ask you
- 1:36Speaker 6: how far the beautiful place was?
- 1:38Speaker 4: Like how far away it was? I just want to
- 1:40Speaker 4: know how long you spent in your car. Was it
- 1:42Speaker 4: like a two-hour drive?
- 1:43Speaker 5: No.
- 1:44Speaker 2: Not two hours. No, not two hours. Definitely not two hours.
- 1:46Speaker 2: It wasn't an hour, but it wasn't two hours.
- 1:48Speaker 4: Okay.
- 1:48Speaker 2: And it wasn't an hour and a half. Okay. But
- 1:50Speaker 2: it wasn't an hour and 20.
- 1:51Speaker 4: But it wasn't like four hours.
- 1:52Speaker 5: No.
- 1:52Speaker 1: Okay.
- 1:52Speaker 6: Because that's what makes me like worry. Because I would
- 1:55Speaker 6: be like, yo, my back would be sore. I would
- 1:58Speaker 6: be exhausted.
- 1:59Speaker 2: It was really good.
- 2:01Speaker 3: But at least I got a, that's the thing about
- 2:03Speaker 3: this time of the year, man. You must take your
- 2:05Speaker 3: moments of tranquility seriously.
- 2:07Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 2:07Speaker 3: If you can find an hour, go for an hour,
- 2:10Speaker 3: but then come back. But then go back again. That's
- 2:13Speaker 3: what I did this weekend. And that's what I feel. Yes,
- 2:15Speaker 3: it's been mull, but I feel well-rested. And I feel
- 2:18Speaker 3: ready for a brand new week. Unfortunately, I need to
- 2:21Speaker 3: announce that this week for me is going to be Monday, Tuesday,
- 2:24Speaker 3: and Wednesday. And then I'll only see you back on
- 2:26Speaker 3: Monday again. Because I'm going away. It's that time of
- 2:30Speaker 3: the year, end of year function, awards season. And there's
- 2:33Speaker 3: something that I've committed to that I have to step
- 2:35Speaker 3: aside from the show. But there are going to be
- 2:37Speaker 3: some great people in my place. You know, Saskia's on Thursday.
- 2:41Speaker 3: Mitch is in on Friday. And then Saskia's in on
- 2:43Speaker 3: the Top 40 on Saturday. So I want to make
- 2:45Speaker 3: sure that that is in advance. So you know what's
- 2:47Speaker 3: going on.
- 2:47Speaker 2: That's all.
- 2:48Speaker 4: Yeah, so you can prepare for it. That's okay.
- 2:51Speaker 2: Lovely, lovely stuff. Okay, today is stacked. It's stacked.
- 2:56Speaker 3: You thought the weekend was busy. Try the flash drive.
- 2:59Speaker 3: Clix is giving you a two and a half thousand
- 3:00Speaker 3: rand gift. Clicks Club card cashback. Woolies has checked with
- 3:04Speaker 3: me and said, how many people had a My Woolies weekend?
- 3:06Speaker 2: I said, thousands.
- 3:07Speaker 3: So I need to pick one, hopefully you, to win
- 3:10Speaker 3: a 5,000 Woolies voucher. We listen and we don't judge
- 3:13Speaker 3: just after four o'clock. Thereafter, you are listening out for
- 3:16Speaker 3: a little sound. This is not the sound playing, but
- 3:19Speaker 3: I want to just remind you what sound to listen
- 3:22Speaker 3: out for. Sometime in this show, you need to tell
- 3:28Speaker 3: me where you hear that and then hopefully you can
- 3:31Speaker 3: win 5000 Rand.
- 3:32Speaker 2: Flash word brought to you by Mr. D.
- 3:35Speaker 4: Croctober.
- 3:36Speaker 3: Crocs is giving you a chance to win. Then we
- 3:39Speaker 3: have a session of psychology.
- 3:41Speaker 4: I'm excited for that.
- 3:42Speaker 3: Then we have a lovely session of the concept. And
- 3:45Speaker 3: then Beatrice T just kind of gives us a lesson
- 3:48Speaker 3: on grade 12 exams. That is what's happening today. It
- 3:51Speaker 3: is chock-a-block from now until 7 o'clock. I'm so glad
- 3:53Speaker 3: you're here. Let's lean into the music and to the Monday.
- 3:56Speaker 3: Here's Samba's potential. That's what you have in oodles. Don't
- 4:01Speaker 3: you forget it.
- 4:03Speaker 2: Cosmic Girl, Jamara Kwai. You, Kwai.
- 4:07Speaker 3: Hi, welcome to your show, Flash Drive, KFM 94.5.
- 4:09Speaker 2: I'm called Cassidy. While you were working, I was working
- 4:13Speaker 2: for you, man. Very hard. And I just want to
- 4:15Speaker 2: throw in a couple of things that I found before
- 4:17Speaker 2: we get into our Clicks competition.
- 4:19Speaker 3: And that is that Cape Town, we have made history
- 4:22Speaker 3: once again because one of our figure skaters has done
- 4:25Speaker 3: the most on the global stage.
- 4:27Speaker 4: I love this type of thing.
- 4:29Speaker 3: So, Cape Town figure skater, Ajean QN Isaacs, has made
- 4:33Speaker 3: South African sporting history, winning gold at the Diamond Spin
- 4:37Speaker 3: 2026 in Poland. She is the first South African woman
- 4:41Speaker 3: to win the title. The 21-year-old finished with a score
- 4:44Speaker 3: of 152.73, leading Switzerland's Seyra.
- 4:49Speaker 2: Beside, 151.78.
- 4:50Speaker 3: And Poland's Karolina Biolas, 151.40. It doesn't matter the scores.
- 4:56Speaker 3: Cape Town, we are here.
- 4:58Speaker 2: That's amazing.
- 4:58Speaker 3: And congratulations and thank you. And I'm hoping that given that, Gaten,
- 5:03Speaker 3: let's get a bonus going. Let's get some more support
- 5:06Speaker 3: for figure skaters.
- 5:07Speaker 4: There we go.
- 5:07Speaker 3: Whenever we represent on the map, I think that should
- 5:09Speaker 3: be a nice little warning light on your dashboard to say, right, fund, fund, fund, fund.
- 5:14Speaker 2: More funds, please. in the right direction. Yeah. Thanks, man. Thanks, Katen.
- 5:18Speaker 3: Okay, bye. What else is there that I have to
- 5:22Speaker 3: share with you? This is pretty awesome. You know, when
- 5:28Speaker 3: you get married, right, one day, and I know you
- 5:32Speaker 3: will because I'll emcee.
- 5:34Speaker 2: Anyway.
- 5:39Speaker 4: You know what? You're not wrong.
- 5:40Speaker 2: Okay, carry on.
- 5:41Speaker 4: Carry on.
- 5:42Speaker 2: Hold on. Hold on.
- 5:44Speaker 3: I'm sure you've heard about all sorts of gifts between partners.
- 5:48Speaker 3: You know, like you get like a push present and
- 5:50Speaker 3: you get this and that and that sort of thing. Well,
- 5:53Speaker 3: sometimes there is a very important thing to do, which
- 5:56Speaker 3: is give your significant other a little honeymoon gift.
- 5:59Speaker 2: You know what I mean? Something special after the wedding.
- 6:00Speaker 5: Okay.
- 6:02Speaker 3: So one bride in China has found the way to
- 6:05Speaker 3: a gamer's heart and awarded, well, gifted somebody a graphics card.
- 6:09Speaker 3: an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5090 graphics card for their wedding.
- 6:16Speaker 6: Wow.
- 6:17Speaker 3: A 34,000 graphics card just to salute the marriage and
- 6:22Speaker 3: that's your honeymoon gift, honey.
- 6:24Speaker 4: Okay. I thought the honeymoon gift was just me.
- 6:28Speaker 2: No, no, no, no, no.
- 6:31Speaker 4: I didn't account for this.
- 6:33Speaker 2: There's differences between gifts and desserts.
- 6:39Speaker 4: Okay, okay. Clock it. Clock it.
- 6:43Speaker 2: I see you.
- 6:45Speaker 6: I see you.
- 6:49Speaker 2: Sorry. Yeah, anyway. Yeah, so you have to think about it.
- 6:52Speaker 2: You know, your honeymoon gift is going to.
- 6:53Speaker 3: Be something that's really connected to you and what you
- 6:55Speaker 3: love and what you like and what you smoke. So
- 6:57Speaker 3: I'm thinking your person is going to gift you a
- 7:00Speaker 3: tomato farm.
- 7:02Speaker 4: You know what? I'm into it.
- 7:04Speaker 5: Right?
- 7:04Speaker 4: I'm into it.
- 7:05Speaker 3: Oh, you know how like you get those, like a
- 7:07Speaker 3: punnet of variety of foreign like tomatoes. You know, there's
- 7:10Speaker 3: like those yellow ones and they have different tartnesses and sweet.
- 7:14Speaker 2: I know. Are you okay?
- 7:16Speaker 4: My mouth is watering.
- 7:19Speaker 2: Do you have a favorite tomato? Is your favorite the
- 7:22Speaker 2: cherry tomato?
- 7:22Speaker 6: I do. I like the convenience and I like when
- 7:25Speaker 6: they're like sour, like a little sour.
- 7:27Speaker 2: So you like your cherry tomato?
- 7:28Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 7:28Speaker 6: But I mean, you can give me one of those
- 7:30Speaker 6: like fancy tomatoes that look like they went to private school.
- 7:33Speaker 2: That's my favorite tomato.
- 7:34Speaker 4: And that's on a sandwich with lots of pepper. Oh, sorry.
- 7:38Speaker 2: That's my favorite. It's an heirloom tomato. It's my favorite tomato.
- 7:42Speaker 2: I love it.
- 7:42Speaker 6: Yes.
- 7:42Speaker 2: I also don't mind aroma. Aroma is quite beautiful. Very sweet.
- 7:45Speaker 3: If you put a Roma tomato, but put them whole
- 7:48Speaker 3: into an oven tray and let them sit.
- 7:50Speaker 4: And then it's like the skin.
- 7:51Speaker 2: Just let them sit, man.
- 7:52Speaker 3: Then you can pick or you can do a little
- 7:55Speaker 3: bit of a blanch on them as well. Get the
- 7:57Speaker 3: skin off if you want to. But I think you
- 7:58Speaker 3: just leave it there. Let it be rustic and let
- 8:01Speaker 3: the olive oil do its work in that. And you
- 8:03Speaker 3: get a beautiful pasta sauce.
- 8:06Speaker 2: So beautiful. Anyway, sorry. Yes.
- 8:07Speaker 6: Yes.
- 8:08Speaker 4: That's what I want, a tomato farm.
- 8:11Speaker 3: And then there's a whole trend online of people adding
- 8:14Speaker 3: things to their CV that they've survived as credentials. And
- 8:19Speaker 3: they're doing it in a very posh HR savvy way.
- 8:22Speaker 3: So what they've done is... They have added certain things.
- 8:26Speaker 3: Like what you survived, in this case, a family braai
- 8:30Speaker 3: where politics came up and who everybody's voting for. And
- 8:33Speaker 3: then what goes in the CV, if you've survived, that
- 8:36Speaker 3: is advanced conflict resolution and stakeholder management. Your life, you
- 8:42Speaker 3: have in there so many transferable skills from moments that
- 8:45Speaker 3: you sometimes disregard in a CV setting. You have the
- 8:48Speaker 3: right to put that on there because it does count
- 8:50Speaker 3: as experience. Just because it didn't come from a university
- 8:53Speaker 3: or a diploma or a course, it doesn't mean it
- 8:55Speaker 3: doesn't have validity in your CV.
- 8:57Speaker 6: And if anything, if you're doing it outside of a
- 9:00Speaker 6: corporate setting, it means that you're actually utilizing the skills more.
- 9:03Speaker 4: Exactly.
- 9:03Speaker 2: And it's more practical because it's happened to you.
- 9:05Speaker 4: Exactly.
- 9:06Speaker 3: Like a school parent's WhatsApp group. If you survive that,
- 9:09Speaker 3: what goes in your CV? Crisis communication and multi-channel risk management.
- 9:14Speaker 2: Nice.
- 9:14Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 9:15Speaker 3: A horrible relationship. Extensive experience identifying and managing red flags.
- 9:20Speaker 4: Okay. Yes, that's great.
- 9:21Speaker 3: A boss that changes their mind every hour. Agile project
- 9:24Speaker 3: management in an unpredictable environment. A toddler tantrum in a supermarket.
- 9:29Speaker 3: Crisis intervention in a high-pressure public environment. A month's end
- 9:33Speaker 3: with no money left. Advanced resource allocation and financial risk management.
- 9:37Speaker 4: That's great.
- 9:37Speaker 3: A wedding with family drama. Large-scale event management and conflict mitigation. Finally,
- 9:43Speaker 3: a friend who always arrives late scheduling flexibility and contingency planning.
- 9:48Speaker 3: Think about what you survived. Okay.
- 9:49Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 9:50Speaker 2: Think about it versus what you should go on your CV.
- 9:53Speaker 2: What have you survived? What what is a moment in
- 9:56Speaker 2: your life that you feel that deserves a credit on
- 9:58Speaker 2: your cv.
- 10:00Speaker 6: Okay can i tell you right now go for it
- 10:02Speaker 6: okay so i once dated a guy that um i
- 10:06Speaker 6: found out once i had ended things that he was
- 10:09Speaker 6: trying to he was trying to get with my friends
- 10:12Speaker 6: and when i was like sorry excuse me What are
- 10:14Speaker 6: you doing? He was like, they are my friends also.
- 10:17Speaker 6: I will talk to them if I want to.
- 10:19Speaker 3: That's very, very cool. Not good for you, unfortunately. But
- 10:22Speaker 3: if I think about your CV, you have navigated extremities
- 10:29Speaker 3: within the emerging markets.
- 10:30Speaker 2: Yes.
- 10:31Speaker 3: And ensured that you've conducted critical decision-making where there wasn't
- 10:38Speaker 3: merger compatibility. Yes. And have made executive decisions within that
- 10:43Speaker 3: particular space.
- 10:44Speaker 4: Exactly.
- 10:44Speaker 2: You understand?
- 10:45Speaker 4: Exactly.
- 10:45Speaker 2: Because obviously that person wanted to merge with your friend.
- 10:47Speaker 4: He did.
- 10:48Speaker 2: Oh, he did merge with your friend.
- 10:49Speaker 4: No, he didn't.
- 10:51Speaker 2: But he wanted to. You see, that's it. And sometimes
- 10:53Speaker 2: it's unpredictable world of merging where people want to merge
- 10:56Speaker 2: with other people. Yeah.
- 10:57Speaker 4: You have no business merging with my friends.
- 10:59Speaker 2: That's correct.
- 11:00Speaker 4: They were never your friends before.
- 11:02Speaker 2: You sound like a merging tactician.
- 11:04Speaker 4: I am a merging tactician.
- 11:05Speaker 3: You understand these and you can identify risks within the
- 11:07Speaker 3: merging market.
- 11:08Speaker 4: Do you see what I'm saying?
- 11:09Speaker 5: Look at you.
- 11:10Speaker 4: You're hired. Thank you so much.
- 11:12Speaker 2: Come into the company. Yes.
- 11:13Speaker 4: Okay.
- 11:14Speaker 2: Who's your friend? What?
- 11:16Speaker 4: Don't make me utilize my skills. I'll show you my CV.
- 11:22Speaker 2: Oh, my word. Okay.
- 11:23Speaker 4: Do you have any?
- 11:24Speaker 2: I've survived 40 years of my life. Oh, my word.
- 11:28Speaker 4: I've survived 40 years of my life.
- 11:30Speaker 2: Look here.
- 11:32Speaker 3: There have been some twists and turns, but I have
- 11:34Speaker 3: a few, honestly. Like being a dad.
- 11:38Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 11:38Speaker 3: There are certain things where you are constantly on the
- 11:41Speaker 3: ebb and flow of what's right, what's wrong.
- 11:45Speaker 2: And how to conduct yourself.
- 11:46Speaker 3: And I think in terms of training and development, I've
- 11:49Speaker 3: reached an expert level where I can identify certain training
- 11:54Speaker 3: gaps within an organization, and I can input key developmental
- 12:00Speaker 3: infrastructure in order to maintain a successful orientation toward the
- 12:05Speaker 3: company's future.
- 12:07Speaker 4: That is so good. That is so good. Oh my gosh.
- 12:12Speaker 2: Yes.
- 12:12Speaker 5: Yes.
- 12:13Speaker 2: I'm sorry. You're hired.
- 12:16Speaker 7: I want to know how you will HRify terrible dates
- 12:21Speaker 7: and dating app experience.
- 12:23Speaker 2: Oh, that's fine.
- 12:24Speaker 3: I think that what you've successfully navigated is user experience
- 12:28Speaker 3: on a number of different applications. And you've also navigated
- 12:32Speaker 3: and mitigated any flaws and faults within those experiences. Furthermore,
- 12:36Speaker 3: within your... agreements and interactions with competitive markets and clients
- 12:43Speaker 3: you've allowed for a wide range of different nuances to
- 12:49Speaker 3: give you green lights and red lights and that has
- 12:53Speaker 3: been your skill is analyzing the green lights and separating
- 12:56Speaker 3: them from the red lights in order for you to
- 12:58Speaker 3: take action where necessary especially when it comes to what
- 13:02Speaker 3: cassidy mentioned earlier merging.
- 13:06Speaker 4: It's a big industry, the merging.
- 13:08Speaker 2: It is huge. It really is.
- 13:11Speaker 7: Cassidy, I would say that you actually negotiated a hostage situation.
- 13:21Speaker 3: Well, then critical negotiation skills were applied within this as well.
- 13:25Speaker 4: I approve. Hold on. Hold on. Can you hear? I'm
- 13:28Speaker 4: adding it to my CV right now.
- 13:30Speaker 3: Someone said surviving an ex's blended family. That's pretty much,
- 13:35Speaker 3: that's great.
- 13:36Speaker 2: Because then you have a multitude of different companies existing
- 13:40Speaker 2: within one ecosystem and managing in that particular ecosystem to
- 13:46Speaker 2: ensure that the main goal and focus is company success.
- 13:50Speaker 2: In order to do that, one must manage not only
- 13:54Speaker 2: some of the pitfalls of certain company dynamics, but also
- 13:58Speaker 2: some of the success stories and using that as blueprints
- 14:01Speaker 2: to create a well-oiled future for the particular scenario. And
- 14:06Speaker 2: that is the key company.
- 14:07Speaker 4: You're so good at this.
- 14:08Speaker 2: So I just wanted to let you know that you've
- 14:09Speaker 2: done that.
- 14:10Speaker 7: Okay. How would you HRify surviving multiple marriages and divorces
- 14:17Speaker 7: of your parents throughout your childhood into teen years?
- 14:21Speaker 5: Okay.
- 14:23Speaker 2: Number one, preach girl. Number two. Okay.
- 14:27Speaker 4: No, no.
- 14:28Speaker 1: I only managed one.
- 14:29Speaker 2: I was only one divorce.
- 14:31Speaker 3: But I do think that once again, the volatility of
- 14:35Speaker 3: a market has never shaken you in terms of making
- 14:39Speaker 3: sure that the accurate goals within your future are maintained.
- 14:43Speaker 3: You have been able to be flexible within managing certain company,
- 14:50Speaker 3: I'm going to say, when a company unfortunately liquidates.
- 14:53Speaker 1: Yes.
- 14:53Speaker 3: You have managed to take from it some of the
- 14:56Speaker 3: successful points that you can then use in order to
- 14:59Speaker 3: To manage the future of many other companies.
- 15:01Speaker 5: Right.
- 15:02Speaker 3: So I believe that what you've done right there is
- 15:05Speaker 3: essentially you've taken a very volatile market. You've drawn from
- 15:09Speaker 3: it the success stories. You've then successfully planned accordingly, looking
- 15:13Speaker 3: at those touch points, and you've applied them to the
- 15:16Speaker 3: focus company, which is your own.
- 15:18Speaker 2: Nice.
- 15:19Speaker 1: I think that's fine. Nice.
- 15:21Speaker 2: Then one more. How would you HRify dating a Gemini?
- 15:26Speaker 4: We aren't that bad.
- 15:28Speaker 5: No.
- 15:28Speaker 2: No.
- 15:29Speaker 1: No, we are.
- 15:31Speaker 4: No, we're not. We're so fun. You never know what
- 15:34Speaker 4: to predict.
- 15:35Speaker 2: But that's the issue.
- 15:37Speaker 3: So that's a very easy one. In the volatility and
- 15:42Speaker 3: the flexibility of any given market, the fact that you
- 15:44Speaker 3: dated Gemini is essentially what you did is you've put
- 15:47Speaker 3: yourself into a scenario where every single interaction could become
- 15:53Speaker 3: any outcome.
- 15:54Speaker 1: Exactly.
- 15:55Speaker 3: And you have now created agility. within making decisions in
- 16:01Speaker 3: a very volatile and unpredictable space.
- 16:04Speaker 1: You're welcome.
- 16:07Speaker 4: Don't laugh.
- 16:08Speaker 2: No, just, I don't know.
- 16:10Speaker 3: Also, you were very successful in separating the gem from the.
- 16:15Speaker 2: Hey, traffic. Yeah. I have to add a little bit
- 16:20Speaker 2: of me.
- 16:20Speaker 1: Of course.
- 16:21Speaker 3: Prize Michelle, my ghetto superstar. This is your flash drive
- 16:26Speaker 3: in KFM 94.5. Cassidy Jade Nicholson, as well as Beatrice
- 16:30Speaker 3: Buerta-Gerber is here to make sure that we do what
- 16:34Speaker 3: we need to do. And that is, remember, when you
- 16:36Speaker 3: send us something, we listen.
- 16:39Speaker 1: And we don't judge. Thank you.
- 16:42Speaker 4: A little bit of you.
- 16:43Speaker 2: Just a little touch. A little bit of you. A
- 16:45Speaker 2: little touch. That's all.
- 16:49Speaker 3: I don't know where to start in this one. Last
- 16:50Speaker 3: week we went off the radar and it was so good.
- 16:53Speaker 3: Those nice things you've done for your ex. This week
- 16:56Speaker 3: we're going to keep it back to our normal. Whatever
- 16:59Speaker 3: you want to share, stay anonymous and we'll listen to
- 17:02Speaker 3: it and we won't judge you. That's what we got
- 17:04Speaker 3: for today. But I think like in the room, I
- 17:07Speaker 3: want to start here. Cassidy, I'm going to give you
- 17:09Speaker 3: the floor.
- 17:10Speaker 4: Thank you so much.
- 17:10Speaker 2: You're welcome, ma'am.
- 17:11Speaker 6: Now, I'm going to just, I'm going to say it
- 17:15Speaker 6: with my whole chest. We are hosting a pirate party.
- 17:20Speaker 6: And we have been posting about the fact.
- 17:23Speaker 4: That it is sold out.
- 17:24Speaker 2: It's sold out, yeah.
- 17:26Speaker 6: Why, when it's sold out, you want to message me
- 17:28Speaker 6: and ask me for tickets? There were tickets the whole time.
- 17:32Speaker 6: You said, hey, I'm going to come to this pirate party.
- 17:35Speaker 4: So I said, here's the link. Go get a ticket.
- 17:39Speaker 4: Now you see sold out. Now you're like, nah. And
- 17:42Speaker 4: so the message was, and I quote....
- 17:45Speaker 6: Hey, so this pirate party, are there tickets left? If so,
- 17:49Speaker 6: how many can I get?
- 17:51Speaker 2: Oh, wow. How about hi, how are you? Long time
- 17:56Speaker 2: no chat.
- 17:57Speaker 4: Whatever happened to, hello, how are you?
- 18:01Speaker 2: That happens to me all the time.
- 18:03Speaker 3: But then I realized that that is actually karma happening
- 18:05Speaker 3: to me because I realized when contemplating this exact thing
- 18:10Speaker 3: that may be annoying, I do the same thing. I
- 18:14Speaker 3: want to just tell you. You know where I do it?
- 18:16Speaker 2: In Woolies.
- 18:17Speaker 3: I see the products out of stock, but I still
- 18:19Speaker 3: go to a friend of mine and I'm like, Chikia man.
- 18:23Speaker 2: Chikia man.
- 18:26Speaker 7: Chikia.
- 18:26Speaker 2: How are you?
- 18:30Speaker 3: Chikia man. You know the 25 gram protein? I know
- 18:35Speaker 3: it says out of stock on the shelf for everyone else.
- 18:38Speaker 3: And somehow I think I'm not everyone else.
- 18:40Speaker 2: What an idiot. And I go and I'm like, They
- 18:43Speaker 2: don't want to check at the back, man. Not check
- 18:45Speaker 2: in the back. They don't want to go check in
- 18:46Speaker 2: the back. And then she gets this phone out that's
- 18:49Speaker 2: got all the stock and she goes, Mr.
- 18:51Speaker 1: Wastey.
- 18:52Speaker 3: Oh, we are out of stock. And I'm like, yeah, man,
- 18:55Speaker 3: I know you say that. But like for me, man.
- 19:00Speaker 3: So I realized that that is karma. Like that's coming
- 19:02Speaker 3: to me. I do that in Woolies. People have a
- 19:05Speaker 3: right to do that with me. They see sold out there.
- 19:07Speaker 4: And they're like, yeah, it's not really sold out.
- 19:09Speaker 3: I think where it's really weird is when people see
- 19:12Speaker 3: a different radio station sponsor on the flyer and then
- 19:15Speaker 3: come to me.
- 19:16Speaker 4: That's wild.
- 19:16Speaker 3: I see you guys are sponsoring and I'm like, you
- 19:18Speaker 3: know I don't work for that station, right? Like, you know, Cassidy,
- 19:24Speaker 3: you will still find that out. It's going to be
- 19:25Speaker 3: so funny when it happens. And there's like a big
- 19:27Speaker 3: artist and it's another radio station.
- 19:29Speaker 2: That's going to be so funny. Where's the man? Check
- 19:30Speaker 2: your room, man. Give me tickets too. And I'm like,
- 19:35Speaker 2: don't you want to ask your friends there? I'm like, no, no, no, no, no.
- 19:37Speaker 2: I don't work there. I work at KFM 94.5. Where
- 19:39Speaker 2: do you think I work?
- 19:43Speaker 4: Don't you work?
- 19:43Speaker 3: Don't you?
- 19:44Speaker 5: Don't all that.
- 19:44Speaker 2: I just don't want to get in it.
- 19:46Speaker 3: No, I mean, I would definitely work with everyone, but...
- 19:50Speaker 3: i think just because of the brand boundaries that we
- 19:53Speaker 3: build for ourselves we can't but honestly i believe in
- 19:57Speaker 3: a harmonized industry but that's just me.
- 19:59Speaker 4: But that is that is mine thank you for holding.
- 20:01Speaker 2: Karma that happens to me all the time i'm sorry
- 20:04Speaker 2: and i've not.
- 20:05Speaker 4: Asked anyone to check in the back I have.
- 20:08Speaker 2: So you are getting a piece of my karma there.
- 20:10Speaker 4: Am I getting your karma?
- 20:10Speaker 2: Yes, you are. Sorry, Pietras, you can go now.
- 20:13Speaker 1: I just feel that they're asking the wrong person. Probably true.
- 20:16Speaker 1: I'm the person of the tickets.
- 20:19Speaker 2: Maybe.
- 20:19Speaker 4: That is also true. That is also true.
- 20:23Speaker 3: I mean, obviously, you know, I was working at Neo
- 20:26Speaker 3: and yeah, there were still peeps asking for tickets. When
- 20:31Speaker 3: they saw the first post of me being on stage,
- 20:33Speaker 3: they were like, did you have.
- 20:34Speaker 4: Tickets, man?
- 20:34Speaker 2: I'm like, where are you now? Where are you? The
- 20:37Speaker 2: concert is done. You're going to get here now. Like, what? Okay,
- 20:40Speaker 2: it doesn't matter.
- 20:41Speaker 3: Sir.
- 20:43Speaker 2: Petrus.
- 20:43Speaker 1: Sorry, I'm just shook that people ask you while you're
- 20:47Speaker 1: literally on stage asking, like introing someone.
- 20:52Speaker 3: But people like doing that. They like seeing you on
- 20:54Speaker 3: stage and then showing their friends that they have your number.
- 20:57Speaker 3: Then they'll message you while you're on stage. It's just
- 21:01Speaker 3: one of those things.
- 21:01Speaker 1: Wow.
- 21:02Speaker 2: That's fine.
- 21:03Speaker 3: Oh, by the way, Cindy says that it's not karma,
- 21:05Speaker 3: it's karma. Because she knows me so well.
- 21:07Speaker 4: But I don't deserve that karma.
- 21:09Speaker 2: Cindy!
- 21:10Speaker 5: Girlfriend!
- 21:12Speaker 2: Woo! That's Cindy. Cindy Ghetto.
- 21:16Speaker 1: Natty Natty Ghetto.
- 21:17Speaker 2: That's Cindy.
- 21:19Speaker 5: Right.
- 21:19Speaker 2: Pietras, what would you like to share for a little
- 21:21Speaker 2: session of We Listen and We Don't Judge?
- 21:23Speaker 1: Mine is kind of like a so don't. Saw Did
- 21:27Speaker 1: judge Type.
- 21:28Speaker 2: Of thing What's that sir?
- 21:30Speaker 1: So You know how you work with people Every day
- 21:33Speaker 1: I work with you Absolutely I work with Cass I
- 21:37Speaker 1: work with Joa And then You see them out and
- 21:40Speaker 1: about Yeah And you go I did not expect this
- 21:45Speaker 1: of you.
- 21:45Speaker 4: Life changing event Excuse me what?
- 21:48Speaker 2: Yes Who did you see?
- 21:49Speaker 1: Joa Out in the wild Where?
- 21:52Speaker 5: Where?
- 21:53Speaker 3: In my area Yesterday I thought you saw him in
- 21:55Speaker 3: Barrack Street Anyway, what are you saying?
- 21:58Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 21:59Speaker 1: I learned something about our esteemed colleague yesterday What did
- 22:02Speaker 1: you learn about him? He is a passenger princess Excuse me? Okay,
- 22:11Speaker 1: so I I went.
- 22:13Speaker 2: Wait, wait, wait, wait, wait Sorry Where's my tea?
- 22:17Speaker 1: Excuse me So me and Habib Did our rounds yesterday
- 22:21Speaker 1: And we went to You know That big retailer there
- 22:25Speaker 1: close to my house who's also involved with the KFM
- 22:28Speaker 1: Top 40. And we walk out and the next moment
- 22:33Speaker 1: there's a high. And my husband says, there's Jodie. I
- 22:39Speaker 1: turn around.
- 22:39Speaker 5: Yes.
- 22:40Speaker 1: There's Jodie chilling in the passenger seat like a boss.
- 22:44Speaker 4: You think you know someone, eh?
- 22:46Speaker 1: He claims there was something wrong with his eye.
- 22:51Speaker 5: Oh.
- 22:51Speaker 1: But that man got out of that car with his
- 22:54Speaker 1: kaita exposed.
- 22:56Speaker 2: Flipped his hair.
- 22:57Speaker 1: Yes, like I'm the passenger princess here.
- 23:01Speaker 2: This is fascinating.
- 23:03Speaker 1: You think you know your colleagues.
- 23:04Speaker 2: You think you know them, yeah.
- 23:06Speaker 8: I don't want your number, no. I don't want to
- 23:09Speaker 8: give you mine, and no. I don't want to meet
- 23:12Speaker 8: you nowhere, no. I don't want a little time, and no.
- 23:16Speaker 5: I don't want no scrub. A scrub is the.
- 23:18Speaker 4: Kind of game.
- 23:19Speaker 5: Get no love from me.
- 23:21Speaker 6: Sitting on the passenger side of your best friend's ride.
- 23:24Speaker 8: Trying to holler at me.
- 23:25Speaker 2: Okay, I understand now.
- 23:27Speaker 4: That's Jodie West for you.
- 23:31Speaker 3: But trust me, we've all caught our colleagues in very
- 23:33Speaker 3: different scenarios outside of this place.
- 23:37Speaker 6: True.
- 23:37Speaker 2: And they've all impressed us in different ways. Yeah. Trust me.
- 23:42Speaker 2: But you know what?
- 23:43Speaker 3: I think that Joa, he had a strategy and he
- 23:45Speaker 3: stuck to it. He had a bit of an eye issue.
- 23:48Speaker 3: Inverted commas.
- 23:49Speaker 1: Inverted commas.
- 23:50Speaker 3: And he got himself chauffeured to the shopping mall. That
- 23:52Speaker 3: is genius right there, my friend.
- 23:54Speaker 5: Genius.
- 23:55Speaker 1: If he had an eye issue in the eye that
- 23:58Speaker 1: he claims he had an issue in.
- 23:59Speaker 4: It would have been red.
- 24:02Speaker 1: He greeted. He would have seen me with that eye
- 24:05Speaker 1: because he's in the passenger side.
- 24:07Speaker 2: In the peripheral.
- 24:07Speaker 1: In the left. He was sitting on the left. He
- 24:10Speaker 1: would have seen me with the left eye.
- 24:12Speaker 2: So that wasn't an eye. It needs an L. It
- 24:14Speaker 2: was a lie.
- 24:15Speaker 4: Oh, Jody West.
- 24:24Speaker 2: Oh, you know, we think we know the bra. We
- 24:25Speaker 2: think we know him. So, okay. This is great. You too.
- 24:30Speaker 2: I've had a good time here today. Have a great time.
- 24:33Speaker 2: If you want me to share mine, I will. It's just,
- 24:36Speaker 2: it's very quick.
- 24:38Speaker 3: I am so done with political parties ragging each other
- 24:42Speaker 3: to get votes. How is it that they always they
- 24:44Speaker 3: rag some other party? They didn't deliver, but we will.
- 24:47Speaker 3: They didn't do that. So we will look what they
- 24:50Speaker 3: are doing. Look what we're going to do. I don't
- 24:51Speaker 3: like that. I don't think that's very smart politicking. Rather,
- 24:55Speaker 3: I would say the best possible way for you to
- 24:57Speaker 3: get your votes is by helping people with minor conveniences.
- 25:01Speaker 3: That is how you get the votes. Think about it
- 25:04Speaker 3: very carefully. If a political party had to say to you,
- 25:07Speaker 3: not more jobs, more infrastructure, more service delivery. I've heard
- 25:11Speaker 3: that since 94. I'm done. Give me something that will
- 25:16Speaker 3: make you credible first. Do the small convenience, like the
- 25:20Speaker 3: minor inconveniences first. Sort that out first. And then I
- 25:25Speaker 3: can trust you with the other big stuff. So when
- 25:27Speaker 3: I say minor inconveniences, I'm saying if a political party
- 25:31Speaker 3: Had to tell you about simple things like they will
- 25:33Speaker 3: make it illegal for people to play music off their
- 25:36Speaker 3: phones in public spaces.
- 25:38Speaker 2: Would you vote for them? Would you vote? Would you
- 25:40Speaker 2: vote for them?
- 25:41Speaker 4: They have my vote.
- 25:42Speaker 2: They see. Would you vote for them if they said that? Yes.
- 25:45Speaker 3: OK, what if the political party said we have worked
- 25:48Speaker 3: with a biological agency and nature conservation? We are now
- 25:51Speaker 3: going to silence hardy dogs in in residential areas.
- 25:56Speaker 1: It's difficult. That's a difficult one.
- 25:58Speaker 4: Do you think that they would be able to make
- 26:00Speaker 4: sure everyone wears shoes at a petrol station?
- 26:01Speaker 2: That's it.
- 26:02Speaker 3: That's a minor inconvenience. I'll tell you what. They'll say,
- 26:06Speaker 3: don't worry.
- 26:06Speaker 2: You don't do it. We will do it. We will
- 26:08Speaker 2: stalk your ex. Oh my God. Do they have your vote?
- 26:12Speaker 2: You see what I'm saying? Do you understand what I'm
- 26:15Speaker 2: talking about? How about this, right?
- 26:16Speaker 3: They will tell your mother-in-law that she is not invited
- 26:19Speaker 3: to Christmas lunch. start looking at being smart minor inconveniences
- 26:27Speaker 3: all right we promise to stop spam calls for good vote.
- 26:33Speaker 6: What about synchronizing all of the red robots so that
- 26:36Speaker 6: when you get you know because there's this one yes
- 26:38Speaker 6: and then i want to go.
- 26:39Speaker 3: Through all three we will find all the missing teaspoons
- 26:43Speaker 3: in your house yes think about this for a second
- 26:48Speaker 3: That's the type of parties that you'd vote for. Never mind,
- 26:50Speaker 3: we'll finish this and do that. That party's bad, but
- 26:54Speaker 3: we are good. Stop with that nonsense.
- 26:56Speaker 1: Stop.
- 26:57Speaker 2: Listen to the people.
- 26:58Speaker 1: Please.
- 27:00Speaker 2: Sorry, I just, I have to mention this to you.
- 27:02Speaker 1: I 100% agree with you. Also, they need to just also,
- 27:04Speaker 1: if they can, stop people from sending voice notes longer
- 27:07Speaker 1: than a minute.
- 27:07Speaker 5: Yes!
- 27:08Speaker 2: There we go.
- 27:09Speaker 1: Thank you.
- 27:09Speaker 2: Put that in the poster.
- 27:11Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 27:11Speaker 2: We will stop people from sending voice notes that are
- 27:14Speaker 2: longer than a minute. Done. And you, go.
- 27:15Speaker 4: And I don't want to pay more for my milk alternative.
- 27:19Speaker 1: Yes!
- 27:21Speaker 2: Yo, I'm a shout in a mandala.
- 27:22Speaker 5: Yes, girl!
- 27:23Speaker 2: Yo! Please, why must I? The normal milk?
- 27:29Speaker 4: Yes, the normal milk.
- 27:30Speaker 2: Like liquor priced, right? Bah, my oat milk or even, yes.
- 27:35Speaker 4: It's through the roof.
- 27:36Speaker 2: I do coconut milk.
- 27:38Speaker 4: Coconut milk is great.
- 27:38Speaker 2: It's delicious, right?
- 27:39Speaker 6: I don't want to have to say, you're going to
- 27:42Speaker 6: have beef milk because that's all I can afford.
- 27:45Speaker 4: I want my oat milk. I want my coffee to
- 27:48Speaker 4: taste like a very stumpy.
- 27:50Speaker 2: Yes.
- 27:51Speaker 3: And also, if you can stop my service provider on
- 27:54Speaker 3: my phone from using my airtime as data when I
- 27:57Speaker 3: run out.
- 27:57Speaker 4: Please, man.
- 27:58Speaker 2: So I also have time to call people. That would
- 28:01Speaker 2: be nice.
- 28:02Speaker 1: Can they also stop my service provider from phoning me
- 28:05Speaker 1: and asking me to download this welcome tone?
- 28:08Speaker 2: Yes. Please. Let's stop the trolleys from knotting your heels
- 28:12Speaker 2: during peak hour shopping.
- 28:14Speaker 3: Let's change the world. I just think, yeah, I've had
- 28:20Speaker 3: enough of political parties ragging each other. Stop dissing the
- 28:24Speaker 3: other parties. Get down to business. Listen to your people.
- 28:27Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 28:27Speaker 3: There are minor inconveniences that you can, within your power
- 28:31Speaker 3: and resources, stop and get a vote. Then once you've
- 28:35Speaker 3: done that successfully, then we can look at the other things.
- 28:38Speaker 1: 100% agree. Thank you.
- 28:40Speaker 2: Thank you very much for coming through here. Call for president.
- 28:43Speaker 4: No, not yet.
- 28:43Speaker 2: Not yet.
- 28:44Speaker 1: Not yet.
- 28:44Speaker 4: Not yet.
- 28:44Speaker 2: Not yet. Not yet.
- 28:46Speaker 6: But run on a manifesto like this.
- 28:48Speaker 4: Okay, do it for the people.
- 28:49Speaker 2: No, it's definitely going to be people-focused. I'm going to
- 28:51Speaker 2: do that.
- 28:52Speaker 3: I just think, and there's a lot more, but you
- 28:55Speaker 3: know this. Thank you so much for being a part
- 28:58Speaker 3: of a little session of We Listen.
- 29:00Speaker 4: And we don't judge.
- 29:01Speaker 5: Never.
- 29:02Speaker 1: Excluding Southern Cape.
- 29:05Speaker 2: Let's make a call. Marlene, it's Carl Wastey, KF94. 5.
- 29:13Speaker 4: How you doing?
- 29:15Speaker 2: I'm good and yourself?
- 29:16Speaker 1: How are you?
- 29:17Speaker 2: Fantastic. Sorry to bother you. I needed your help on something.
- 29:20Speaker 3: I'm looking for a very competent judge of great music.
- 29:24Speaker 2: Are you that person? I think I am.
- 29:28Speaker 4: Yes, you are.
- 29:29Speaker 2: Thank you. We have three songs.
- 29:31Speaker 3: Each one of us, when I say us, Beatrice, Cassidy
- 29:33Speaker 3: and I, we picked songs. Only one of them can win.
- 29:36Speaker 3: I'm not even sure what the tally is for the
- 29:37Speaker 3: year yet, but Beatrice will look at that, the records later.
- 29:41Speaker 2: Thank you. Because at the end of the year, remember,
- 29:43Speaker 2: we have that big prize for the winner. Remember that?
- 29:46Speaker 4: Oh, that sounds good.
- 29:47Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 29:47Speaker 1: We do?
- 29:48Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 29:48Speaker 1: Don't you remember it?
- 29:49Speaker 2: Don't you remember the big prize?
- 29:50Speaker 1: Is it a week?
- 29:51Speaker 7: But with you, anything's possible.
- 29:53Speaker 1: Yes.
- 29:53Speaker 2: Oh.
- 29:55Speaker 5: Wait, wait, wait.
- 29:56Speaker 4: Are you blushing? I am blushing.
- 29:58Speaker 1: He's going to cry now.
- 29:59Speaker 4: Oh, gosh.
- 29:59Speaker 2: Love you, Molly.
- 30:00Speaker 6: Okay.
- 30:01Speaker 3: You have choices here, so let's go through it. Pietras,
- 30:04Speaker 3: your song.
- 30:05Speaker 2: Make it good. You know what?
- 30:06Speaker 1: It's a feel-good song for a Monday. It's by Burn.
- 30:08Speaker 1: It's called Man on the Moon.
- 30:10Speaker 5: Okay, right.
- 30:22Speaker 2: There we go. That's the first one.
- 30:24Speaker 3: All right, second one is, we had Zulani Mohola in
- 30:27Speaker 3: studio last week, and she was chatting about her new project,
- 30:30Speaker 3: and it's so good. A Good Time dropped on Friday.
- 30:32Speaker 3: She teamed up with Zakes Bantuini for this one. So
- 30:34Speaker 3: it's proudly local. It's called Where You Are.
- 30:37Speaker 5: Where you are.
- 30:37Speaker 2: Where you are. And then yours, Cassidy?
- 30:51Speaker 4: Oh, okay.
- 30:52Speaker 6: So the thing about a Monday is that a lot
- 30:54Speaker 6: of people have Monday Mondays, right? And so I want
- 30:57Speaker 6: to get them out of that and feeling good. So
- 30:59Speaker 6: I chose this amazing song called This Is How We
- 31:02Speaker 6: Do It by Montel Jordan.
- 31:05Speaker 4: All right.
- 31:13Speaker 3: All right, so you've got a choice, Marlene, of three
- 31:15Speaker 3: songs there. You've got a brand new one from Burn,
- 31:18Speaker 3: Man on the Moon. You've got a proudly local one,
- 31:20Speaker 3: Zolanda Mahola and Zakes Bantwini, Where You Are. And you've
- 31:23Speaker 3: got a banger in Montal Jordan. This is how we
- 31:25Speaker 3: do it. I know it's a tough task. It's Monday.
- 31:27Speaker 2: What is your choice today?
- 31:29Speaker 6: So I actually wanted to go with yours, Carl.
- 31:31Speaker 5: Yes.
- 31:32Speaker 1: But Cassidy's one has.
- 31:34Speaker 6: Just kicked it because, like, it's a Monday.
- 31:37Speaker 4: Monday, Monday. I have one of those Mondays, Mondays.
- 31:40Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 31:40Speaker 4: So it's Cassidy's.
- 31:41Speaker 2: That's it.
- 31:43Speaker 4: I got your back. I'm here to make you feel good.
- 31:45Speaker 2: Yeah, turn your Monday into Montal.
- 31:47Speaker 1: There we go.
- 31:50Speaker 2: Thank you. Marlene, enjoy.
- 31:51Speaker 1: Thanks a lot.
- 31:52Speaker 3: And I hope you'll be flipping your Monday around a
- 31:54Speaker 3: bit with some good energy.
- 31:56Speaker 1: Definitely. Please do.
- 31:57Speaker 2: Yes, we're doing that. Don't worry.
- 31:59Speaker 3: Anyway, thank you very much, Marlene. You are the best
- 32:02Speaker 3: because Cassidy won once again. I feel like you've just
- 32:05Speaker 3: won four days or five days in a row.
- 32:07Speaker 6: I have.
- 32:07Speaker 2: Gee whiz. You're unstoppable at the moment. You know that.
- 32:12Speaker 4: Thank you.
- 32:13Speaker 2: Thank you. You might continue winning until the end of
- 32:15Speaker 2: the year. No one breaks your streak. Imagine that. How
- 32:18Speaker 2: amazing would that be?
- 32:19Speaker 4: I would love that. I'm so incompetent. So I hope
- 32:20Speaker 4: that's the case.
- 32:21Speaker 6: But I am trying to stay humble and grounded. So
- 32:24Speaker 6: I'm just picking the songs for the people. That's my strategy.
- 32:28Speaker 2: I love this.
- 32:29Speaker 4: Thank you.
- 32:30Speaker 2: It's feeling good.
- 32:32Speaker 3: But remember, you've got a fresh song tomorrow.
- 32:34Speaker 2: Yeah. I'm not sure. Is there anything to report on
- 32:36Speaker 2: your roads?
- 32:36Speaker 4: No, same thing that I just reported.
- 32:38Speaker 2: Is that okay?
- 32:38Speaker 3: Cool.
- 32:39Speaker 2: I want to make sure that's sorted.
- 32:40Speaker 3: I do have an invitation for you to play a
- 32:42Speaker 3: brand new week of FlashWord with a brand new sponsor.
- 32:46Speaker 3: And there are 14,000 big ones up for grabs for
- 32:49Speaker 3: you if you are successful this week.
- 32:51Speaker 2: On the FlashWord. That's on the way.
- 32:53Speaker 6: Plus.
- 32:54Speaker 2: Not Monday. Montal. Avicii, Hello Black, it's called Wake Me Up.
- 32:59Speaker 2: It's time.
- 32:59Speaker 3: It is your time to shine. This week with a
- 33:02Speaker 3: flash word, we have a very, very special partner on
- 33:04Speaker 3: this one. A partner that just knows that the flash
- 33:07Speaker 3: word delivers the most exciting general knowledge quiz known to
- 33:10Speaker 3: radio on the African continent. But they know that they
- 33:14Speaker 3: can deliver in the most incredible way too.
- 33:18Speaker 2: It was a match made in... Delivery heaven. It's time.
- 33:38Speaker 3: Life in South Africa comes with enough twists and turns
- 33:42Speaker 3: and potholes when the world feels out of control.
- 33:44Speaker 4: Mr.
- 33:45Speaker 3: D is your wingman, simplifying your choices and delivering reliably.
- 33:50Speaker 3: So you can get what you want, but when you
- 33:52Speaker 3: need it.
- 33:53Speaker 2: Dun, dun, dun, dun.
- 33:54Speaker 3: From your favorite meals and groceries at in-store prices to
- 33:57Speaker 3: daily essentials and last-minute gifts, it's convenience delivered to your door.
- 34:02Speaker 3: Look out for Blended, the Mr. D series, across Mr.
- 34:04Speaker 3: D's social platforms to see done, da-done, done in action. Mr. D,
- 34:10Speaker 3: D is for done. I know that you've been waiting
- 34:14Speaker 3: for this moment. It has been great. for you to
- 34:17Speaker 3: build up to this point. But we have a tiebreaker
- 34:19Speaker 3: because we couldn't separate Amy and Chandra on Friday.
- 34:22Speaker 2: And here we are. Amy, welcome back. Thank you. Chandra,
- 34:28Speaker 2: welcome back.
- 34:28Speaker 4: Hi, hi.
- 34:29Speaker 2: It's good to be back. Okay, great.
- 34:31Speaker 3: So remember, you're only back for one more question and
- 34:34Speaker 3: then it's legitimately over.
- 34:37Speaker 2: I'm sorry.
- 34:38Speaker 3: I know it's so dark, but I have to say
- 34:40Speaker 3: it in that way. So all the best to both
- 34:42Speaker 3: of you. I want to wish you the best of luck.
- 34:45Speaker 3: It's going to be fine. So today the flash word
- 34:48Speaker 3: is going to be re. You know, like delivery. So R-Y-R-I-E-R-E-E.
- 34:54Speaker 3: That is the flash word today. You have one last question, ladies.
- 34:58Speaker 3: I need an answer from you. And then we go
- 35:00Speaker 3: straight into the next quiz.
- 35:03Speaker 2: Deal?
- 35:03Speaker 5: Deal.
- 35:05Speaker 2: In fact, not deal. You mean done.
- 35:06Speaker 4: Done, done, done.
- 35:08Speaker 2: That's it.
- 35:09Speaker 3: So we're going to have some fun with this one.
- 35:10Speaker 3: Good luck to both of you. So here it comes.
- 35:14Speaker 2: Remember re. Re.
- 35:16Speaker 3: Oh, and also, sorry, man, I have to add some
- 35:19Speaker 3: intensity to it. The bosses told me to do so.
- 35:22Speaker 3: It's more fun that way. Focus on Rhi.
- 35:25Speaker 2: Good luck.
- 35:27Speaker 3: Your tiebreaker question is Amy and Chandra. Name first, then
- 35:30Speaker 3: the answer.
- 35:31Speaker 2: Here it comes. It is. She gave us songs like
- 35:34Speaker 2: Umbrella and Only Girl in the World. Chandra.
- 35:37Speaker 3: Chandra, stand by. I heard your name first. Amy, stand by.
- 35:41Speaker 3: Don't answer, don't answer, don't answer, don't answer, don't answer,
- 35:42Speaker 3: don't answer. I want to just make sure I have
- 35:44Speaker 3: the right one.
- 35:44Speaker 2: Don't answer.
- 35:45Speaker 3: Both of you don't answer because I want to check VAR.
- 35:47Speaker 3: I like to keep it fair, so don't give the
- 35:49Speaker 3: answer away.
- 35:50Speaker 2: Great.
- 35:50Speaker 3: We're going to lock it in. We've got Jody West.
- 35:52Speaker 3: His ears are fantastic. Trust me. Eyes, not so much.
- 35:56Speaker 3: We saw him at a mall not driving earlier. Anyway, right,
- 35:59Speaker 3: so he's listening very carefully. Chandra, you were picked first
- 36:04Speaker 3: with regard to VAR. Chandra, what is your answer?
- 36:07Speaker 2: What is it?
- 36:07Speaker 5: Three.
- 36:08Speaker 3: Rihanna congratulations chandre and amy i'm so sorry but var

- 36:59Speaker 3: Chandra, as per rules, you as the champion, fresh champion,
- 37:03Speaker 3: you will decide who goes first or second.
- 37:07Speaker 1: I will go second.

- 37:24Speaker 3: Lock it in. It's going to be a very fun
- 37:26Speaker 3: time as well. And by the way, are you at
- 37:28Speaker 3: the moment? Are you on your way home? Did you

- 37:32Speaker 2: Yes, I am.
- 37:32Speaker 5: I am.
- 37:33Speaker 4: I'm parked up on the side of the road.

- 40:42Speaker 3: This competition is for everybody. Crocs is celebrating 2000s. That's
- 40:48Speaker 3: when Crocs was born. And sometimes those things, you just
- 40:51Speaker 3: want to resurrect them as quick as possible. What's that
- 40:53Speaker 3: thing from the 2000s you want to bring back as
- 40:56Speaker 3: soon as possible? Maybe it's something that you want to
- 40:58Speaker 3: throw back on. You wish there was a round today.
- 41:01Speaker 2: Taryn, hello. Hello. So, Taryn.
- 41:06Speaker 3: Yes.

- 41:14Speaker 7: Different music, different vibes.
- 41:22Speaker 2: Sorry, sorry. No, no, no. You threw me all the
- 41:24Speaker 2: way back. You did.
- 41:27Speaker 5: Giving away my age a little bit.

- 44:41Speaker 2: It's my jersey.
- 44:42Speaker 3: It's called Hold Tight and it's on your show, The
- 44:44Speaker 3: Flash Drive and KFM 94.5. Coming your way is a
- 44:47Speaker 3: whole session where I get to use what I studied
- 44:50Speaker 3: with what I'm doing for a living right now, which
- 44:52Speaker 3: is psychology. I get a chance to listen to you
- 44:56Speaker 3: and respond to you with a song that I believe
- 44:58Speaker 3: would be the perfect tonic for you to start your
- 45:00Speaker 3: week off right. And it's going to be a successful week.
- 45:02Speaker 3: I believe that now and maybe you don't. And if
- 45:05Speaker 3: you don't, that's fine as well. But just send me
- 45:07Speaker 3: whatever you're feeling, maybe something that you're a bit anxious
- 45:09Speaker 3: about in the future. Or you can send me a
- 45:11Speaker 3: track that you need to wrap your day with and
- 45:13Speaker 3: I will play it for you because that's why I
- 45:15Speaker 3: am here just for you.
- 45:18Speaker 1: 082-945-0940.
- 45:20Speaker 3: Psychology, my practice opens in about 10 minutes. Cassidy, you're
- 45:25Speaker 3: my first client.
- 45:26Speaker 6: Hi.
- 45:26Speaker 2: How can I help you?
- 45:28Speaker 6: So these next few weeks are going to be crazy.
- 45:31Speaker 6: I mean, with work and content and then still family.
- 45:36Speaker 4: Coming down, Christmas.
- 45:38Speaker 6: And also, I'm a 96 baby, which means a lot
- 45:41Speaker 6: of my friends are also turning 30.
- 45:42Speaker 4: So they want to celebrate their 30th.
- 45:44Speaker 2: It's a lot.
- 45:44Speaker 4: It's a lot.
- 45:46Speaker 6: How am I managing friends, family, work, downtime for myself,
- 45:51Speaker 6: not burning out, all of these things.
- 45:52Speaker 4: I need to keep a level head.
- 45:54Speaker 3: Now you listed all of those. It was a listicle expression.
- 45:57Speaker 3: And I'm glad you did that because a lot of
- 45:58Speaker 3: people feel the same way. What they do is they
- 46:00Speaker 3: compound everything and they put them into the same bucket.
- 46:03Speaker 3: But you didn't realize that you have separate buckets for
- 46:05Speaker 3: different things.
- 46:05Speaker 5: Right.
- 46:06Speaker 3: You have a family bucket. You have your own personal
- 46:08Speaker 3: bucket where your wellness sits in as well. You've got
- 46:10Speaker 3: a work bucket. You've got a lot of things... that
- 46:12Speaker 3: always seem to come together because you tip your buckets
- 46:14Speaker 3: into the same center well and you shouldn't because you
- 46:17Speaker 3: have control over each bucket and where they stand and
- 46:20Speaker 3: how much validity and value they have in terms of
- 46:22Speaker 3: your experience in life.
- 46:23Speaker 2: You get to choose that.
- 46:24Speaker 3: People just feel overwhelmed because I'll be honest, feeling overwhelmed
- 46:28Speaker 3: and out of control, sometimes it's just a bit easier
- 46:30Speaker 3: to concede to that rather than actually saying, I do
- 46:33Speaker 3: have certain things that I can control, things that I
- 46:35Speaker 3: can't control and things that I'm willing to act on.
- 46:38Speaker 2: Those are powers that you have. I suggest.
- 46:41Speaker 3: You need to make sure that this fast-paced end of
- 46:43Speaker 3: the year, you don't forget to slow down.
- 46:53Speaker 2: Get to know your buckets. Put each thing into each one.
- 46:57Speaker 5: And slow down.
- 46:58Speaker 2: Thank you, Dr. Carl Wastey.
- 47:04Speaker 4: I needed this. I really needed this. And by needed this,
- 47:08Speaker 4: it was Bobby Valentino.
- 47:09Speaker 2: I know you and Bobby Valentino.
- 47:12Speaker 4: I love Bobby Valentino.
- 47:16Speaker 2: Oh, goodness.
- 47:16Speaker 3: And that's how it operates. So please feel free and
- 47:19Speaker 3: you can share away. Stay anonymous if you need to.
- 47:21Speaker 3: Pick a song of your choosing. Psychology is completely open
- 47:25Speaker 3: for you. and to share whatever you need to share.
- 47:28Speaker 3: So we are here, and I'm ready to listen to you.
- 47:31Speaker 3: You know my number, 082-945-0940. As we get into some
- 47:35Speaker 3: details on your road without insurance, SMS out to 30605 now.
- 47:40Speaker 3: You could save on your car insurance if you don't
- 47:42Speaker 3: ask them for 500 rand. It is good luck in
- 47:49Speaker 3: Frigida Almadillo. It's called Goodbye, My Friend, Hello, My Friend.
- 47:51Speaker 3: And that friend's name is Grade 12 Exams.
- 47:54Speaker 2: It's happening.
- 47:55Speaker 3: And in solidarity with you, Cassidy and I, under the
- 47:59Speaker 3: great guidance of producer Pietras, who is somehow affiliated with
- 48:02Speaker 3: the educational system, is going to test us on our
- 48:06Speaker 3: knowledge of Grade 12, even though I've been out of
- 48:09Speaker 3: Grade 12 for.
- 48:11Speaker 4: You don't have to give us time. You don't have to.
- 48:14Speaker 2: Three years.
- 48:16Speaker 4: Did you go to your 20-year reunion?
- 48:17Speaker 2: I did. It was so cool. Was it? It was
- 48:18Speaker 2: better than the 10-year reunion. Really?
- 48:20Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah.
- 48:20Speaker 4: Why? Much better.
- 48:22Speaker 3: Because I think that people at a 10-year reunion are
- 48:25Speaker 3: still kind of apprehensive to appear because they're not sure
- 48:29Speaker 3: if they have made it yet.
- 48:31Speaker 2: And it shouldn't be the case.
- 48:32Speaker 3: You know, like, unfortunately, people have that mindset when they
- 48:35Speaker 3: get into a reunion. It's like they need to have
- 48:37Speaker 3: made it in a certain way, had a title to something.
- 48:40Speaker 2: And that's not the case.
- 48:40Speaker 3: Like, you should be there to connect with friends and
- 48:43Speaker 3: reminisce it shouldn't be about how far you've come it
- 48:45Speaker 3: should never be that way but at the 20th there
- 48:48Speaker 3: was a lot of like we don't give a damn
- 48:49Speaker 3: uh we're gonna pitch up a lot of us are
- 48:52Speaker 3: parents a lot of us have just done our thing
- 48:54Speaker 3: and it doesn't matter who you are just come through
- 48:57Speaker 3: we miss you and i loved the 20 year more
- 48:59Speaker 3: than the 10 year reunion i did so just uh
- 49:03Speaker 3: yeah just remember.
- 49:04Speaker 1: That well i'm just thinking in that case i'm looking
- 49:07Speaker 1: forward to my 30 year anniversary in three years.
- 49:12Speaker 2: Sorry? 30 years.
- 49:15Speaker 1: 30 years in three years.
- 49:16Speaker 2: By the way, when you were at school, did they
- 49:18Speaker 2: teach you from like... tablets? Like the same that the
- 49:23Speaker 2: commandments are on?
- 49:24Speaker 5: Yes.
- 49:25Speaker 1: It was sheepskin. Oh, I see. And hieroglyphs.
- 49:30Speaker 2: Did you write with like a block, like a chisel
- 49:31Speaker 2: and a hammer? Yes.
- 49:33Speaker 1: Like, you know, the Flintstones is loosely based on my
- 49:36Speaker 1: growing up.
- 49:37Speaker 2: I thought so.
- 49:38Speaker 4: Did you have to go and like work a part-time
- 49:40Speaker 4: job during break time?
- 49:42Speaker 2: Obviously.
- 49:42Speaker 4: What the hell?
- 49:44Speaker 1: Do you live in South Africa, Cassidy? Take out all
- 49:46Speaker 1: the weeds on the rugby field.
- 49:47Speaker 2: What a silly question.
- 49:49Speaker 4: Oh, my God. In this economy.
- 49:51Speaker 1: Sweep the school halls during break.
- 49:55Speaker 4: My goodness.
- 49:56Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 49:57Speaker 1: Anything for that A. You know, today you do other
- 50:01Speaker 1: things to get an A.
- 50:01Speaker 2: I'm sorry. I'm trying to focus here, but you mentioned
- 50:04Speaker 2: halls and A in the same paragraph.
- 50:05Speaker 5: Yuck.
- 50:10Speaker 2: Okay, so the last time we did this, it wasn't
- 50:12Speaker 2: too bad.
- 50:13Speaker 1: Okay, so tomorrow there's three papers that they are writing.
- 50:16Speaker 1: They are writing economics, mechanical technology, and design.
- 50:19Speaker 2: What are you testing us on?
- 50:20Speaker 1: You are being tested on economics.
- 50:22Speaker 8: Robin your pencils, lower your expectations. It's Carl and Cassidy's
- 50:28Speaker 8: exam situation.
- 50:30Speaker 2: Yay!
- 50:32Speaker 1: When government departments follow too many rules and procedures at
- 50:36Speaker 1: the cost of quality service delivery.
- 50:39Speaker 5: Corruption.
- 50:39Speaker 2: Oh, sorry. Thank you.
- 50:42Speaker 1: It is known as apathy, efficiency, rent-seeking, or bureaucracy.
- 50:47Speaker 2: Are you saying the government departments?
- 50:49Speaker 1: Follow too many rules and procedures at the cost of
- 50:52Speaker 1: quality service delivery. You get your point.
- 50:54Speaker 6: Yes!
- 50:55Speaker 1: Cassidy, your last one. The South African government ensures a
- 50:59Speaker 1: more equitable redistribution of income by using a what type
- 51:04Speaker 1: of tax system? Proportional, progressive, regressive or multiple?
- 51:10Speaker 4: Proportional.
- 51:11Speaker 1: That would be incorrect. Oh, no. What?
- 51:17Speaker 4: You know what? I thank you for your entertainment. They
- 51:22Speaker 4: distribute equally and you go... In the background.
- 51:26Speaker 6: My brother would be so serious.
- 51:29Speaker 2: I'm just trying to reflect the energy of the South
- 51:32Speaker 2: African society.
- 51:33Speaker 4: As you should.
- 51:34Speaker 3: I have to. Today we have a new challenge. And
- 51:37Speaker 3: here is its intro.
- 51:42Speaker 1: Here ye, here ye gather round the hall.
- 51:46Speaker 5: Come.
- 51:47Speaker 6: That is so true.
- 51:52Speaker 1: That is so true. Don't you like the customized intro?
- 51:57Speaker 2: I love that.
- 51:58Speaker 5: You know what?
- 51:58Speaker 4: Keep it coming.
- 51:59Speaker 2: Now I'm excited about tomorrow. This is going to be
- 52:01Speaker 2: so good. So what are you testing us on? Because
- 52:06Speaker 2: that's really important.
- 52:06Speaker 1: Well, from that music.
- 52:08Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 52:09Speaker 1: It reminds you of the olden days, which means it's history.
- 52:12Speaker 2: The olden days. What's that to you? Yeah, what is
- 52:15Speaker 2: the old days to you?
- 52:17Speaker 1: Basically, I was there when all of these things happened
- 52:20Speaker 1: that I'm asking you about.
- 52:21Speaker 2: Chicky, did you really come out of the cave on Sunday?
- 52:26Speaker 4: Do you owe Jesus a coin?
- 52:31Speaker 1: Be honest.
- 52:39Speaker 2: And were there starters? That final dinner. Anyway, okay. So
- 52:45Speaker 2: we're doing history.
- 52:46Speaker 4: Yes.
- 52:47Speaker 2: That's why this song works so good. Let's go in
- 52:50Speaker 2: one direction. I am so bad at history.
- 52:55Speaker 1: Come on. It is a practical quiz night.
- 52:57Speaker 4: Okay, Cassidy. You know I'm not the person who specializes
- 53:00Speaker 4: in the history part.
- 53:01Speaker 1: Yeah, that's true. That's my husband. During the Cold War,
- 53:05Speaker 1: what was the name of the divine... I wish we
- 53:09Speaker 1: filmed this.
- 53:10Speaker 2: Cassidy's face. You should. Shame. Your face. Did you taste
- 53:14Speaker 2: the lemon, man? Come on.
- 53:15Speaker 1: Okay, Cassidy, quickly.
- 53:17Speaker 2: Yes.
- 53:17Speaker 1: During the Cold War, what was the name of the
- 53:20Speaker 1: divide between Communist Eastern Europe and the West? Was it
- 53:23Speaker 1: the Great Divide, the Iron Curtain, or the Red Line?
- 53:27Speaker 4: The Iron Curtain.
- 53:28Speaker 1: Correct.
- 53:33Speaker 5: Yes.
- 53:35Speaker 2: Yes, girl.
- 53:37Speaker 1: Okay, Wastey. Yo.
- 53:38Speaker 6: Yo.
- 53:39Speaker 1: Which South African organization led the struggle against apartheid and
- 53:43Speaker 1: eventually became the governing party in 1994? I don't feel
- 53:48Speaker 1: like I need to give you options here, but I will.
- 53:52Speaker 1: The IFP, the ANC, or the NP?
- 53:54Speaker 6: Oh, I know this one. A. N. C. Right?
- 54:04Speaker 1: You are correct.
- 54:05Speaker 2: Thank you very much. Or should I say African National Congress?
- 54:07Speaker 1: Where's your pink?
- 54:08Speaker 2: Sorry.
- 54:08Speaker 1: Oh, I need a ping.
- 54:09Speaker 2: Excuse me. One moment, please. Sorry. Did I ping you earlier? No. Sorry.
- 54:14Speaker 6: Cool.
- 54:15Speaker 5: Okay.
- 54:16Speaker 1: Let's see if there's a question. I'm going to give
- 54:19Speaker 1: each of you one more.
- 54:21Speaker 2: Please do.
- 54:22Speaker 4: Okay.
- 54:23Speaker 1: Cass, which American civil rights leader inspired people around the
- 54:27Speaker 1: world with his message of nonviolent protests? Malcolm X, Martin
- 54:32Speaker 1: Luther King Jr. or Nelson Mandela?
- 54:35Speaker 4: Martin Luther King Jr.
- 54:37Speaker 5: Give me the pin. Have a dream. I have a dream.
- 54:40Speaker 4: Yes, get into it.
- 54:43Speaker 2: Have a dream that you will be successful in your
- 54:46Speaker 2: grade 12 history exam tomorrow. I do. That's it.
- 54:51Speaker 5: Wow.
- 54:51Speaker 2: There's even a Portuguese dream in there as well.
- 54:56Speaker 6: Why not?
- 54:56Speaker 2: That's it.
- 54:57Speaker 5: Okay.
- 55:00Speaker 4: Okay.
- 55:00Speaker 6: Yes.
- 55:01Speaker 2: Carl, last one.
- 55:02Speaker 1: After World War II.
- 55:03Speaker 2: Yes.
- 55:04Speaker 1: The US introduced a plan to help rebuild Europe. What
- 55:07Speaker 1: was it called? The Truman Project, the European Rescue Mission,
- 55:12Speaker 1: or the Marshall Plan?
- 55:14Speaker 2: Oh, goodness. I know it wasn't a Truman Project.
- 55:20Speaker 1: That's it.
- 55:20Speaker 2: I know, but I'm going to just go like European
- 55:22Speaker 2: Rescue Mission.
- 55:23Speaker 1: No, it was the Marshall Plan.
- 55:25Speaker 2: Yeah, but I know it wasn't Truman. Truman is the.
- 55:27Speaker 1: Yeah, I know. I saw it. I was like, what's that?
- 55:29Speaker 2: Sorry, hold on.
- 55:30Speaker 6: A movie? A movie?
- 55:33Speaker 4: It's okay.
- 55:33Speaker 2: But you got 100% for your test.
- 55:35Speaker 4: Thank you so much. And you got 100% for economics.
- 55:38Speaker 1: That's it.
- 55:39Speaker 2: That's what we did. Thank you so much.
- 55:41Speaker 1: All right.
- 55:41Speaker 2: So the great trial is writing history tomorrow, right?
- 55:43Speaker 1: Yes.
- 55:44Speaker 2: Okay.
- 55:44Speaker 1: And then tomorrow you guys will be tested on information technology.
- 55:49Speaker 2: That's the future, isn't it?
- 55:50Speaker 3: And then also there's maritime something, something tomorrow as well, right?
- 55:52Speaker 5: Yes.
- 55:53Speaker 3: Maritime, engineer, economics. It's maritime something, but you know what?
- 55:58Speaker 1: It's okay.
- 55:58Speaker 3: It doesn't matter what time. It's time to make sure
- 56:01Speaker 3: you trust yourself and all the best to our grade 12s.
- 56:04Speaker 3: We show you a massive bit of solidarity in wishing
- 56:07Speaker 3: you all the best and say that, remember, this is,
- 56:10Speaker 3: it's your time to shine. It's about prosperity. Please get
- 56:13Speaker 3: good rest tonight. Trust that you've gotten through all the material.
- 56:17Speaker 3: Please don't do an all-nighter.
- 56:19Speaker 2: I tried that.
- 56:19Speaker 3: It doesn't work. So please get some rest. Your brain
- 56:23Speaker 3: needs it to replenish and retain information. And then tomorrow
- 56:26Speaker 3: you'll be highly successful. We love you. Please enjoy Up Next.
- 56:30Speaker 3: You've got KFM nights, Brandon. You two looking after you
- 56:32Speaker 3: till 10 o'clock.
- 56:33Speaker 2: Please enjoy. Chat to you tomorrow, 3 o'clock.
- 56:35Speaker 4: Okay, love you.
- 56:36Speaker 5: Bye.
- 56:37Speaker 1: Weekdays, 3 to 7 p.m. The Flash Drive with Carl
- 56:41Speaker 1: Wastey on KFM 94.5.
