- 0:03[SPEAKER_03]: Hello, hello, and welcome to another edition of the Nine and Always podcast, part of the fancited podcast network.
- 0:09[SPEAKER_03]: My name is Robert Morrison, and I contribute here at Nine and Always.com, and here with me, fellow contributor.
- 0:15[SPEAKER_03]: Mr. Oksha's David Dula Oksha's, the free agency is pretty much done and dusted, I think, you know, barring some, you know, bottom of the roster kind of stuff for all teams, but wow, it happens really fast, right?
- 0:32[SPEAKER_00]: Oh yeah, I mean like it's a blitz for sure, you know, like within three days the team looks completely different.
- 0:39[SPEAKER_00]: Wow.
- 0:40[SPEAKER_00]: But I don't know, like, even for the Niners, I think there were some pretty big names that sort of trickled down later during the week.
- 0:48[SPEAKER_00]: But now it's like, where were they signed now?
- 0:51[SPEAKER_00]: I don't think you're expecting much out of it.
- 0:53[SPEAKER_03]: But, you know, yeah, we can talk about some of that once we get through the the bevy of moves that have happened.
- 1:00[SPEAKER_03]: Obviously, we talked about all this stuff about players.
- 1:04[SPEAKER_03]: They could sign players.
- 1:05[SPEAKER_03]: They could trade for.
- 1:08[SPEAKER_03]: It's been kind of a weird start to the season.
- 1:11[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, you know, if you just look at like non-niner's related stuff, like the insanity of that max cross be situation is just like maybe one of the, like, it's funny, like probably not hilarious for the Raiders.
- 1:23[SPEAKER_03]: who thought they had two extra first-round draft picks over the next two years, or an extra first-round draft pick over the next two years, and then signed a bunch of people with the expectation that Mac Crossey was going to be gone, and then the Ravens were like, ah, George Skidden, we don't really want to.
- 1:40[SPEAKER_03]: Kind of a bizarre situation, but, you know, for the most part, I think the foreign owners have been able to stay out of the drama, which is good news for this team, barring a couple of things that we'll touch on a little bit later.
- 1:52[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, just a, that was a crazy outcome, I think, like.
- 2:00[SPEAKER_00]: I was reading a couple articles about it after it and it was just a bunch of executives saying it's always contingent on a physical right always and for those of you who are You know general San Francisco sports fans listen to a podcast you'll know about this from the Carlos career signing to go through for the giants where they they failed them on the physical and then didn't go through with the contract like it happens and it's always super rare because you think that like
- 2:29[SPEAKER_00]: teams are mostly aware.
- 2:32[SPEAKER_00]: Right.
- 2:32[SPEAKER_00]: What's going on when they like make these agreements and I mean like, I don't know, a lot of people seem to think that.
- 2:38[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, a lot of believe the kid that the Ravens just got full feet.
- 2:44[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 2:44[SPEAKER_03]: Actually, on second thought, two first of all, picks from XCrosby was a terrible decision.
- 2:50[SPEAKER_00]: You know, yeah, I mean, you feel for the Raiders.
- 2:58[SPEAKER_00]: That was probably about as good as they're going to do for a cross be I mean those are great like they did well for trading like their best player now I mean they and now they get their best player back but does he even want to be there.
- 3:12[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, maybe like knowing like I mean you know the only thing the Niners had now is now you sort of say hey.
- 3:22[SPEAKER_00]: Second round pick.
- 3:24[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, you know, you know, like the truth.
- 3:27[SPEAKER_00]: But yeah, where's the situation?
- 3:30[SPEAKER_00]: I think before you Niners weren't shopping in that world.
- 3:35[SPEAKER_00]: So, no, there's no, we didn't affect them at all.
- 3:38[SPEAKER_00]: But who knows, maybe maybe we'll hear a story coming out sometime later about how like all the downstream effects.
- 3:46[SPEAKER_00]: But yeah, I mean, just just crazy, just crazy.
- 3:49[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, right now the Raiders, you can have a second round pick in 2027 and you'll like it, just kidding.
- 3:55[SPEAKER_03]: Um, I mean, they don't have to like, they don't have to trade him.
- 3:57[SPEAKER_03]: It's just very bizarre because it seemed for all intents and purposes like he walked out of there at the end of the last season.
- 4:04[SPEAKER_03]: It was like I'm done, like I don't want to do with this anymore.
- 4:05[SPEAKER_03]: And then now he's like, okay, well here I am.
- 4:07[SPEAKER_03]: My guys must be really awkward anyway.
- 4:11[SPEAKER_03]: Um, we don't want to spend a lot of time on that because we have a lot of names and people to talk about today.
- 4:16[SPEAKER_03]: Um.
- 4:17[SPEAKER_03]: We're going to talk about the free agency session that we talked about that we mentioned, you know, was, you know, over and done and does it pretty quickly all the build up and then a couple of days and then mostly it's over there again, there will be moves that will happen between now and.
- 4:32[SPEAKER_03]: trading camp because teams have to get their rosters at the 90 guys and that takes a lot of a lot of bodies but for now it seems like the dust is settled and so what we're going to do is take a look at players that have either come in or been retained because there's a group there actually I will plug I don't know if you've seen this but the fore end is app has a pretty good and it's probably on their website too.
- 4:57[SPEAKER_03]: has a pretty good freeze and see tracker and it has all the sections and has like players that we brought back and players that have left and players that are on this kind of contract and that's pretty well pretty well done actually so if you're
- 5:12[SPEAKER_03]: this is all the names came directly from that that we're going to talk about.
- 5:16[SPEAKER_03]: I knew I remembered most of them that I was like I need names in front of me where I'm going to forget somebody.
- 5:21[SPEAKER_03]: So we'll start with a big the big one and that was the one that that Oksha is correctly predicted or hoped for.
- 5:29[SPEAKER_03]: I don't you can all that you categorize at every U.S. and then of course is the Mike Evans, the Mike Evans and he is the Mike Evans.
- 5:37[SPEAKER_03]: He's coming over from Tampa Bay from one bay to the
- 5:42[SPEAKER_03]: sort of he joins the 49ers on what is a three year deal.
- 5:46[SPEAKER_03]: It was reported like for like three years or it was reported a lot like three years in a bunch of money.
- 5:53[SPEAKER_03]: It turns out it's probably more like
- 5:55[SPEAKER_03]: A series of one-year contracts that they can get out of pretty easily if things aren't going well in the first year or one that if they'll if he does play well and he sticks around for three years, they'll probably feel like as a bargain because it puts them well below market value for a for a guy.
- 6:14[SPEAKER_03]: Um, of his caliber of a guy who's probably going to be in the pro football, all fame some day.
- 6:20[SPEAKER_03]: Um, the even weirder part about it is that the, the, the, the bucknears came out and said, we offered him more money.
- 6:27[SPEAKER_03]: And he decided he wanted to leave, which is just, like, first of all, like, generally unheard of for the most part.
- 6:35[SPEAKER_03]: Um, but just kind of gives an indication of how much my, my ovens wanted to be a for an honor, which is cool.
- 6:43[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 6:44[SPEAKER_00]: So you know, I'm going to claim it.
- 6:45[SPEAKER_00]: I called it.
- 6:46[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 6:46[SPEAKER_00]: Now, I want I want to win.
- 6:49[SPEAKER_00]: I'm going to get my win.
- 6:50[SPEAKER_00]: But yeah.
- 6:51[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, it's huge, right?
- 6:53[SPEAKER_00]: And I think the books coming out with that was interesting for two parts, one because I mean, it just shows you how important my Gavin's was to that team.
- 7:03[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, right.
- 7:06[SPEAKER_00]: He's one of those guys who like, you know, like he'll probably have like a great career in championship, just go.
- 7:11[SPEAKER_00]: But he's going to go to like the Hall of Fame as a buck near in so far as like the NFL has that it's that's not really thing in the NFL, but you know, the whole classic like baseball cap, what's the number you're going in it?
- 7:24[SPEAKER_00]: Mike Evans is a buck.
- 7:25[SPEAKER_00]: The other thing is just like I think some reports will said they were offering him up to like 27 million a year
- 7:33[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know like what the number is, but like it's fairly sizable, I think as you said, when you look at what Evans actually got under contract, it's not at all as like unreasonable and I think
- 7:50[SPEAKER_00]: You know, to sort of contrast to 49er's wide receivers, currently on the market right now, John Jennings, you just get this like, like it's such a bad contract for wide receivers in a way because like,
- 8:07[SPEAKER_00]: Evans is older, sure, but he's also like better than everyone else on the market.
- 8:12[SPEAKER_00]: And it's just if he accepted that, it's really hard now to say like, why like, Jennings should get 20 million a year, right?
- 8:21[SPEAKER_00]: So, I think it's a huge addition.
- 8:25[SPEAKER_00]: He's like a bonafide number one receiver in a way the 49ers have actually, I think have never had
- 8:32[SPEAKER_00]: Wrinkly, like, robably, since, well, like you know, just our loans, maybe.
- 8:38[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, right.
- 8:39[SPEAKER_00]: So it's gonna say maybe, maybe Michael Crabtree.
- 8:45[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, and too far too far.
- 8:47[SPEAKER_00]: Not like, never at this level, since like T.O.
- 8:50[SPEAKER_00]: I think that's absolutely right.
- 8:52[SPEAKER_00]: Right.
- 8:52[SPEAKER_00]: Even at, like, coming off, like, a relatively downier by his standards.
- 8:57[SPEAKER_00]: Like, he's the best receiver the 40 managers have had in a long time.
- 9:01[SPEAKER_00]: He's a big body, he's a great rap runner.
- 9:04[SPEAKER_00]: He's not as fast as he used to be, which is still an issue they need to address in the draft.
- 9:09[SPEAKER_00]: But like, he's a phenomenal player.
- 9:11[SPEAKER_00]: He's a game changer, and that was like, I think the whole point, I was trying to get across it.
- 9:17[SPEAKER_00]: Was that like,
- 9:19[SPEAKER_00]: They need game changers.
- 9:20[SPEAKER_00]: You can't, it's like death is good, whatever, like, you know, backfill your roster.
- 9:26[SPEAKER_00]: But they really need a guy to move the needles and my Kevin's moves the needles.
- 9:30[SPEAKER_00]: It's important because like, you know, the rest of the NFC West up and got better too, right?
- 9:35[SPEAKER_00]: So like the arms, like the arms raised requires you do like being pushed and forward.
- 9:40[SPEAKER_00]: And they push forward.
- 9:41[SPEAKER_00]: So I think,
- 9:44[SPEAKER_00]: Even at the initial numbers, they were saying like three years, 60 million.
- 9:49[SPEAKER_00]: I was like, that's fine, I'm happy with that.
- 9:52[SPEAKER_00]: But like the contract being the way it is, it's like absolutely perfect.
- 9:56[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, and you know, it's gonna be fun, really.
- 9:59[SPEAKER_00]: Well, I'm just excited to see how that works out.
- 10:03[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, uh, a spell track has at a three or 42.4 million dollar contract.
- 10:09[SPEAKER_03]: Um, it's a, uh, just over four million dollar cap hit this year, just over seven in twenty twenty seven, just over nine and twenty twenty eight.
- 10:18[SPEAKER_03]: It'll be thirty five years old.
- 10:19[SPEAKER_03]: There are of course, because it's a 49ers, uh, four void years on the back end of that, where they'll be paying seven million, seven million, four point six and two point two million for him not to play for the team,
- 10:33[SPEAKER_03]: a little different from paying someone who's to go play for somebody else.
- 10:37[SPEAKER_03]: But those are just numbers to keep the cap hit down.
- 10:42[SPEAKER_03]: There's only counting just a little under one and a half percent of the salary cap this year and it doesn't go over two and three quarters percent with the expectations of the cap going up.
- 10:55[SPEAKER_03]: So $14 million A.V.
- 10:57[SPEAKER_03]: for a guy of his caliber.
- 10:59[SPEAKER_03]: I think you take that all day
- 11:02[SPEAKER_03]: Um, 49ers also added another wider receiver of a lesser caliber, but I think who I think could also add to this group and could probably spells any, dispels any like, oh, maybe John Jennings come back, comes back on a one-year deal, kind of questions and that's Christian Kirk who had a rough season with Houston last year, but has generally been as 49ers fans know when he was from his time in Arizona, a pretty useful player like he's not going
- 11:32[SPEAKER_03]: But frankly, with Evans there, I'm going to keep here, so all there, and Tuna's what else they're going to do.
- 11:36[SPEAKER_03]: Like, if he's your third or fourth guy, I think you're probably okay.
- 11:43[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I don't know.
- 11:44[SPEAKER_00]: Like, one year deal kind of makes me not care into the forest.
- 11:49[SPEAKER_03]: Right, right, right, right.
- 11:51[SPEAKER_00]: Now, okay, let me, let me freeze first.
- 11:53[SPEAKER_00]: I know what, like, you know, it's not, there's not a big long-term impact.
- 11:57[SPEAKER_00]: So you don't really like,
- 11:59[SPEAKER_00]: Like I'm never going to be opposed to getting a guy in on a one year deal if they would think he can like make an addition I'm just not so sure Kirk has like he has the juice anymore really he had a phenomenal like playoff game so.
- 12:14[SPEAKER_00]: The flashes are still there, but it's not clear to me that like, you know, we just talked about Mike Evans where he doesn't address the speed element that this team still needs.
- 12:24[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know of Christian Kirk addresses that either, but now you're adding more and more bodies.
- 12:29[SPEAKER_00]: It's like, okay, like you got to get someone in there who can like take the top off of the defense.
- 12:35[SPEAKER_00]: And so I'm a little less like excited about this.
- 12:39[SPEAKER_00]: I do think like
- 12:41[SPEAKER_00]: It was important for them to have hit like more receivers on the roster who can push especially the younger guys, but I mean, we'll have to see sort of how it plays out.
- 12:52[SPEAKER_00]: And like at one year and six million, I think was the reported amount.
- 12:56[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 12:57[SPEAKER_00]: Right.
- 12:57[SPEAKER_00]: Like.
- 12:59[SPEAKER_00]: That's not a, oh, like, can't try out see what happens contract.
- 13:03[SPEAKER_00]: That's a he's making the roster and so I don't know.
- 13:09[SPEAKER_00]: This on a little less like excited about, but I like, I don't hate it.
- 13:13[SPEAKER_00]: I think, uh,
- 13:14[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, there will be a game or share a recursion curtain makes like has makes a bunch of big plays because that's just how it works with Yeah, and so I'm excited for that game.
- 13:25[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, it'll be fun.
- 13:26[SPEAKER_03]: That'll be fun.
- 13:27[SPEAKER_03]: He'll be 30 in November.
- 13:28[SPEAKER_03]: So certainly an older guy, but And as you said, if it's in tandem with like they draft somebody
- 13:35[SPEAKER_03]: who's got the ability to take the top of the defense with some speed.
- 13:39[SPEAKER_03]: I think you're like, okay, it's negligible.
- 13:40[SPEAKER_03]: And Ricky Pierce, I'll has that ability if he can just stay on the field, which is really the difficult part there.
- 13:45[SPEAKER_03]: All right, a couple of other, we got a lot of things to cover.
- 13:49[SPEAKER_03]: We'll move on to the next, like, big move that happened, and that was the trade for, oh my gosh, here we go, we're ready for this.
- 13:56[SPEAKER_03]: Osa, a dizzy,
- 13:59[SPEAKER_03]: a diggyzua, a diggyzua, I think it's a diggyzua, I think it's right.
- 14:03[SPEAKER_03]: Defensive Tackle was with Dallas, they traded their third round pick in this year's draft for him.
- 14:10[SPEAKER_03]: And so now we have Osa and Bosa and Osa O and Sam O, who is another player that they brought back on a one-year tender.
- 14:19[SPEAKER_03]: I brought those two names in together because it's nice and nice little
- 14:24[SPEAKER_03]: You know, circle, who, man, zero, owes, got it.
- 14:27[SPEAKER_03]: Like I mean, I'm excited about this move.
- 14:30[SPEAKER_03]: I think this is, it's, it's a lot to give up, but I think probably he, I feel pretty confident.
- 14:36[SPEAKER_03]: He's, he's a better player than what they were going to get with a third round draft pick.
- 14:41[SPEAKER_00]: So, there's like a whole list in one.
- 14:46[SPEAKER_00]: things that essentially boiled down to what you just said.
- 14:48[SPEAKER_00]: But I'm going to say, like, yeah, it's a great trade.
- 14:52[SPEAKER_00]: I think the one thing that it's a little annoying is that there's some reports that when coming at that the cowboy sort of pushed the Niners to up to a third-round pick, as opposed to day three, like if this is a day three pick, you're not, we're not even talking about it, like this is just amazing.
- 15:09[SPEAKER_00]: I think even now it's still amazing, right?
- 15:11[SPEAKER_00]: Like his cap it this year is really low
- 15:15[SPEAKER_00]: which means that there's a whole lot of flexibility the team has in terms of how they want to potentially restructure his contract later if they even keep him after this year.
- 15:26[SPEAKER_00]: It's a very like low stakes sort of contract that way.
- 15:32[SPEAKER_00]: He's better, I think than any, like you said, any player that get into third round, probably, especially given this team's track record in the third round.
- 15:42[SPEAKER_00]: And, but I think he's also better than any defensive lineman that would get in, like, infre agency in the defense tackle position.
- 15:50[SPEAKER_00]: There's a lot of reports that they went hard for John Franklin Myers and lost out to Tennessee.
- 15:56[SPEAKER_00]: But,
- 15:59[SPEAKER_00]: I'm not like, I think what Dixua is like as good, if not better, younger, and like definitely better past Russia.
- 16:08[SPEAKER_00]: So like I'm not like, I think this is a great trade.
- 16:14[SPEAKER_00]: It was a good job to take advantage of a team that like needed to get rid of a good player and the cowboys, just because of salaries and like roster fit, not lining up anymore.
- 16:26[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, you wish this was like a six or seventh round pick instead of a third, but I mean for like, or fourth, but like, you know, he's 26 I think and he's 28.
- 16:38[SPEAKER_00]: 28, never mind.
- 16:39[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know why I finished 26.
- 16:40[SPEAKER_00]: That's on me.
- 16:42[SPEAKER_00]: But like private career.
- 16:44[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, really, really phenomenal like advanced metrics when it comes to win rate and stuff didn't have a ton of sacks last year.
- 16:52[SPEAKER_00]: But like you put him with Bosa and Michael Williams and you did that's like.
- 16:57[SPEAKER_00]: That takes a weakness and turns it at minimum to like a baseline, right?
- 17:01[SPEAKER_00]: Like maybe it's like that's a competent quality player on your defensive line.
- 17:07[SPEAKER_00]: Then the four managers need more of that.
- 17:09[SPEAKER_00]: So yeah, very, very happy that they made that trade.
- 17:12[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, like tick to box, check off like one of their big to do's for their roster.
- 17:20[SPEAKER_00]: And I think like the tidy piece of work.
- 17:23[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I mentioned the SACS 18 throughout his career, I think is the number, but he's generally played about 50-ish percent of the snaps, the highest total they hit was an
- 17:35[SPEAKER_03]: 2024 with Dallas, where he played 70, almost 74% of the snaps, he had five sacks out here.
- 17:40[SPEAKER_03]: But it's not, I mean, he's been, you know, four last year, two, or five and 24, three and 23, four and 22, two and 21.
- 17:48[SPEAKER_03]: So he's, he's, he's, certainly been more of a part-time player, which I think is, you know, seems to make sense given his position.
- 17:56[SPEAKER_03]: But, um, and then, you know, to, I mean, it's still going to cost him a decent amount of money.
- 18:02[SPEAKER_03]: He's got a
- 18:04[SPEAKER_03]: this year but as you said that's it like they would not owe him any more money after that if they choose not to there's an out after this if they decide they didn't really go very well they can cut him with with no dead cap from here on out or if they want to restructure because the last two years of his deal are basically
- 18:24[SPEAKER_03]: twenty and a half million dollars over the next for the final two seasons that he signed with Dallas.
- 18:30[SPEAKER_03]: Then you you make it move.
- 18:34[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, but I'm with you on on that for sure he and for college in C.J.
- 18:37[SPEAKER_03]: West would be a good team for the tackle group there and then Michael Williams when he kind of moves the inside.
- 18:43[SPEAKER_03]: It will be really interesting to see how they make that work.
- 18:47[SPEAKER_03]: And then Sam Okuwani, I think that was one of the guys we were
- 18:54[SPEAKER_00]: you hope he's your like fourth or fifth head pressure when it's all said and done but he's a good like character guy to have around the room I think 100% yeah like yeah you know that I think we both were like oh he'll probably be back he was back like this is this is good right you want to keep um
- 19:15[SPEAKER_00]: The 49ers have good depth, I think, yeah, it's just that the depth oftentimes is forced to be not depth and so like you said, Samo exactly like the type of guy you want to have in the.
- 19:29[SPEAKER_00]: In your rotation it's always good for a player to a game like that was a no-brainer And I think I'm glad that I'm glad you know I think I've batted like below the Mendoza line I came to the RFA tenders those were hardly only that was the only one they gave out Exactly, so I'm glad I was right about this one
- 19:53[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, 100%.
- 19:54[SPEAKER_03]: There isn't other RFA guy that they kept, but they didn't tend to him.
- 19:59[SPEAKER_03]: And that's Jay's Jake Tonguece, who they actually ended up signing to a two-year extension.
- 20:03[SPEAKER_03]: Again, good for him, like he had a good season last year when he was called upon.
- 20:10[SPEAKER_03]: There's a, if the season started right now, he would be the starting tight end for this team.
- 20:16[SPEAKER_03]: I'm really hoping that it's not the case.
- 20:18[SPEAKER_03]: I'm hoping that there's another, there's a guy that they have their eyes set on who they think can step into that role.
- 20:24[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, like Kenyan City, following to 27, like bringing it home, buddy, probably not happening.
- 20:30[SPEAKER_03]: But I think just another, I guess.
- 20:32[SPEAKER_03]: Again, a good guy, they're not paying a bunch of money.
- 20:34[SPEAKER_03]: It's like $3 million a season or something like that.
- 20:38[SPEAKER_03]: To just have, it's like a decent depth piece.
- 20:42[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 20:43[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I mean, I think that's right.
- 20:44[SPEAKER_00]: Like, I think the one thing with Tanya says that he's very raw, very raw.
- 20:49[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 20:49[SPEAKER_00]: And so you, you can, you hope that now that he got actual snaps and had to like, you know, play, he takes that next step and continues to develop.
- 21:13[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know.
- 21:14[SPEAKER_00]: Whatever.
- 21:14[SPEAKER_00]: Fingers cry.
- 21:15[SPEAKER_00]: Like, don't catch yourself.
- 21:18[SPEAKER_00]: I think you do want a little more hope that the tongue just can take that next step, but you can't rely on it.
- 21:30[SPEAKER_03]: Right.
- 21:30[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 21:31[SPEAKER_00]: Ken and Sintika trying to like, oh my gosh.
- 21:33[SPEAKER_03]: But you run as fast as you possibly can to turn that in is what he would say I mean if you the second you know that he I'm honestly well.
- 21:45[SPEAKER_00]: free agency just.
- 21:47[SPEAKER_00]: There are a couple guys I think in the draft who I personally think are worth trading up for for this team and yeah he's one of them like you jump to make sure you can get him.
- 22:01[SPEAKER_03]: Um, yeah, absolutely.
- 22:02[SPEAKER_03]: Okay.
- 22:03[SPEAKER_03]: Um, speaking of a position that the 49ers are now very, very, very deep at, uh, we have a trio of linebackers that have returned.
- 22:11[SPEAKER_03]: Uh, the first two were Luke Gifford and Garrett Wallow, you know, that's fine moves.
- 22:17[SPEAKER_03]: Garrett Wallow, uh, showed some good stuff.
- 22:20[SPEAKER_03]: Um, in his, his performance late in the season, Luke Gifford, a very good special teams player and as long as he doesn't sniff the field as a, as a, as a,
- 22:28[SPEAKER_03]: actual linebacker were good, but that of course is Barry in the lead and that is that drag green line is back.
- 22:36[SPEAKER_03]: Rough year in Denver last year, mostly due to injury, but he's back.
- 22:42[SPEAKER_03]: The nine are starting to bring him back last year and we're unsuccessful and after the Broncos released him, they didn't waste any time and they brought him back.
- 22:50[SPEAKER_03]: I like it, I think you can still do the job, but I can also see the side of this where somebody's like, is this really necessary?
- 22:59[SPEAKER_03]: Was this really the right thing to do?
- 23:00[SPEAKER_03]: So, actually, what's side do you follow on this?
- 23:05[SPEAKER_00]: I follow more the ladder than the former, but that's what the big caveat.
- 23:14[SPEAKER_00]: Like, yeah, I don't,
- 23:16[SPEAKER_00]: Look, like, Dre's amazing.
- 23:18[SPEAKER_00]: I watched a couple of their, like, hype up videos, they posted after they split made it official and I was like, oh my gosh, like, I'm ready to run through a wall.
- 23:27[SPEAKER_00]: If he's a mate, like, you know, absolutely not taking nothing away from like, what he's done for this team.
- 23:33[SPEAKER_00]: But,
- 23:35[SPEAKER_00]: I think anytime you like do a reunion, you run like the risk of sort of an expectation that's just not gonna be fulfilled, right?
- 23:46[SPEAKER_00]: And like, yeah, it's been one year, but like, you know, Dre, like, it wasn't like a great last year he had in San Francisco either, as he was recovering from the Achilles, she makes sense, he was recovering from the Achilles, right?
- 24:01[SPEAKER_00]: But...
- 24:03[SPEAKER_00]: You know, they're like lashes, but nothing crazy, then in Denver, like a bad year with a bunch of injuries, and you just like you don't know, like what's the, what GCS left, however, I think,
- 24:19[SPEAKER_00]: If you accept, I think this is important.
- 24:22[SPEAKER_00]: I think like if the team goes into this with their top two linebackers set as Fred Warner and D Winters, then I think this is phenomenal, sign.
- 24:33[SPEAKER_00]: Right, again, one year deal.
- 24:35[SPEAKER_00]: So not really stressed about the money.
- 24:37[SPEAKER_00]: Seven million is, I don't know.
- 24:39[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know, it seems like they were negotiating against themselves a little bit, but whatever.
- 24:43[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know.
- 24:44[SPEAKER_00]: I don't have inside and knowledge on this.
- 24:48[SPEAKER_00]: Like, yeah, I mean, like, that third linebacker spot was terrible, like actually terrible for this team, right, it was a huge deal, and it resulted in all sorts of weird, like set it like either you had like players who really shouldn't been like playing defense on the field, right, a la, um, you know, different as we just mentioned.
- 25:13[SPEAKER_00]: or the Niners ran a lot more nickel than they needed to, which was also back, because then you had issues against the growing.
- 25:20[SPEAKER_00]: That was a huge problem when you look at the way the season ended.
- 25:24[SPEAKER_00]: Or they had to run a big nickel formation and pull through safeties.
- 25:30[SPEAKER_00]: But the 49ers did not have three quality safeties to be doing that with.
- 25:36[SPEAKER_03]: So, listen to all quality at the same time, I guess.
- 25:39[SPEAKER_00]: No, that, yes, that's true.
- 25:41[SPEAKER_00]: it was like they were trying very hard to sort of matte like paint over the fact that that was not like their base defense was not strong enough and I think the thing about Dre is that beyond the fact that like he hits like crazy he's I mean you know we have to see coming back from the injuries but he's super fast
- 26:05[SPEAKER_00]: Right, he's good and covered like he is a good coverage linebackers 49ers are good at getting coverage linebackers by and large, at least two coverage linebackers and I think you add him D and you know Fred that is like a base group that I'm actually quite okay with running against like a whole host of offensive formations, especially because like you know the Rams ran this like three time and set down everyone's throat.
- 26:36[SPEAKER_00]: the seahawks ran the ball like a billion times, like that's just what teams do now, right?
- 26:41[SPEAKER_00]: Is they go heavy and they stress you and you need like you need linebackers to beat that.
- 26:46[SPEAKER_00]: You need really good linebackers who are able to both cover and tackle.
- 26:50[SPEAKER_00]: And I think draping you're like new, strong side linebacker.
- 26:56[SPEAKER_00]: Right, it's just, that's a huge upgrade.
- 26:59[SPEAKER_00]: I think the problem is that if you go into this and it's like, okay, loud drink is going to be back next to Fred, same as always.
- 27:07[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know.
- 27:08[SPEAKER_00]: I don't think that should be a guarantee.
- 27:11[SPEAKER_00]: I'm not really sure that he's better than D Winters at this point right now.
- 27:16[SPEAKER_00]: And also think it sends like a badish message, right, to D, right?
- 27:19[SPEAKER_00]: He into this team, right?
- 27:21[SPEAKER_00]: You work your way up the guidelines.
- 27:23[SPEAKER_00]: You have a good, to great year, right?
- 27:25[SPEAKER_00]: Like pretty, really take that next step forward.
- 27:30[SPEAKER_00]: And then the boom, they just throw someone in on top of you.
- 27:34[SPEAKER_00]: And especially if it's like evident that like green lost is not at the level he was before.
- 27:40[SPEAKER_00]: Then it sort of feels like you're just like giving someone a roster, like a starting spot for like, like,
- 27:49[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, for good times, they give you sentimental about it, right?
- 27:53[SPEAKER_00]: Exactly.
- 27:54[SPEAKER_03]: Give the best guy the job.
- 27:56[SPEAKER_03]: And it could be, you know, there, I think the good news is that we know that both J and D winters are capable of handling either of those secondary linebacker spots.
- 28:08[SPEAKER_03]: And so depending on, it could be like a hot hand situation or what the matchup is or something like the flexibility there is, I think very useful.
- 28:19[SPEAKER_03]: And, you know, yeah, maybe D-Winter's is your best option.
- 28:21[SPEAKER_03]: It's like the second linebacker in the undermost circumstances, but maybe there are circumstances where having your green line out there as a second next to Fred Warner makes the most sense.
- 28:32[SPEAKER_03]: And that just, like, that was the thing they lost last year where everybody being hurt is just like, there's Tatum Bethune and then there's D-Winter's and there's like a black hole of nothing.
- 28:43[SPEAKER_03]: And then when Bethune was gone, it was like, a whole lot of nothing in there.
- 28:47[SPEAKER_03]: Um, you know, Eric Andrews did his best, but I think it's I think it's a solid move, but I think you're right.
- 28:53[SPEAKER_03]: Like they just need to be able to handle it correctly.
- 28:56[SPEAKER_03]: And I think that the good news is is that having Reem Morrison there who just doesn't really have like he wasn't here.
- 29:03[SPEAKER_03]: So he doesn't he doesn't he won't feel necessarily beholden to like triggering law, having been there before and he can make the best decision.
- 29:10[SPEAKER_03]: I think that that he needs to for the team.
- 29:13[SPEAKER_03]: I think that will probably be a benefit in that case.
- 29:16[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, that's a good point.
- 29:17[SPEAKER_00]: That's a good point.
- 29:19[SPEAKER_03]: Like I think if Robert Soler were still here, you'd probably be a little bit more concerned about that, right?
- 29:23[SPEAKER_03]: Just because... Definitely.
- 29:24[SPEAKER_03]: There's some overlap there, but all right, um, we got a couple of other names here to discuss.
- 29:30[SPEAKER_03]: We'll move through the the easy ones, uh, Nate Hobbs corner back was brought in at just like a depth guy.
- 29:37[SPEAKER_03]: I think as it was actually coming off a two seasons ago a pretty big payday, uh, did not work out for him in Green Bay last year.
- 29:46[SPEAKER_03]: again, another injury plate season.
- 29:49[SPEAKER_03]: Much has been made of this, by the way, I'm sure you've seen all the conversation.
- 29:54[SPEAKER_03]: It was, who's the guy he writes for the
- 30:01[SPEAKER_03]: camera member is named off the top of my head but was like just listing all the like a team that was coming off of an injury plate season side all these guys are coming off of injury seasons but just notice that anyway.
- 30:14[SPEAKER_03]: So that's an interesting one and then two depth offensive lineman Brett Toff who has a experience as an interior offensive lineman both his guard and center and then Viderian low who is probably in competition for your swing
- 30:28[SPEAKER_03]: especially with guys like Spencer Burford out the door.
- 30:31[SPEAKER_03]: The top also has a pretty good chance with Burford being gone to maybe take over as the starting left guard.
- 30:38[SPEAKER_03]: We'll see how that goes.
- 30:39[SPEAKER_03]: Any needle movers on in either of those cases for you, Access?
- 30:45[SPEAKER_00]: I like the Hobb signing.
- 30:47[SPEAKER_00]: I think there's a like that I think has a lot of upside.
- 30:51[SPEAKER_00]: in like very little downside again one year deal.
- 30:53[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, like, you know, injuries, like he was a good player for the Raiders on his rookie contract.
- 30:59[SPEAKER_00]: And you know, I think the 49ers secondary could use a little like juice injected in it.
- 31:07[SPEAKER_00]: So I'm excited.
- 31:08[SPEAKER_00]: I think, you know,
- 31:10[SPEAKER_00]: I'm not like pencil again, a starting spot for him, but I wouldn't be surprised if he makes things competitive and camp.
- 31:18[SPEAKER_00]: Majorian love, I mean, I think the contract is, I don't know, like, this is where my internal sense of life.
- 31:27[SPEAKER_00]: NFL salary structures like just run super foul of like the reality is this it seemed like a lot whether if you look at like what tackles require and how much they get paid think it's pretty reasonable they need a swing tackle that much is very true I mean you know there's Trent Williams is still like not they're the contract is not doing this thing too yeah so who knows
- 31:54[SPEAKER_00]: So much is up in the air, but like, you know, like Trent will miss a gamer to this just what happens and you need someone who's like competent there to like sort of feel that side.
- 32:05[SPEAKER_00]: So that was good.
- 32:07[SPEAKER_00]: Breakfast.
- 32:07[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know.
- 32:08[SPEAKER_00]: I can take it really good.
- 32:09[SPEAKER_00]: Like yeah.
- 32:10[SPEAKER_00]: If it's a depth signing, not opposed to it.
- 32:13[SPEAKER_00]: I just like.
- 32:15[SPEAKER_00]: There's like, I think the big name we were talking about, Joel Bittonio is still there.
- 32:19[SPEAKER_00]: I still don't know why the team, I have no, maybe he's like debating where the mind wants to continue to play, but I still think the nineners need to upgrade at that position, and I wouldn't, I wouldn't call this an upgrade, but like, again, it's not like I'm never opposed to getting like new bodies in and seeing give something clicks.
- 32:41[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, the hobs, the hobs I'm excited about.
- 32:43[SPEAKER_00]: I thought those were good signing.
- 32:44[SPEAKER_03]: I was, I was, yeah, the very least upgrading your, did the depth there for, you know, some, I mean, with, you know, Chase Lucas has gone and people tend to not care too much for a drill, looter or so.
- 32:59[SPEAKER_03]: So like that was easier than that.
- 33:01[SPEAKER_03]: They're a guy, right?
- 33:02[SPEAKER_00]: As well as exactly and say it's just that like look, we've seen enough, I think it's pretty clear that the role looter gets picked on and he's in games and immediately that's like, yeah, you just you got to like.
- 33:17[SPEAKER_00]: Again, like backfilling the roster, you got to make sure that you don't have a screaming liability pop up.
- 33:26[SPEAKER_00]: Not saying that Luther is a screaming liability, but, you know, like clearly there was a step off when like when our brain was taken off the field and you got taken off the field a lot, which is like stamping.
- 33:38[SPEAKER_00]: So, you know, I think it's an important position
- 33:48[SPEAKER_03]: Okay, so we have one more position group that we need to cover as far as incoming slash hanging around free agents and because I have a feeling.
- 34:00[SPEAKER_03]: This is going to go.
- 34:01[SPEAKER_03]: We're going to go ahead and make this part of the podcast brought to you by our friends at underdog fantasy.

- 34:33[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, everyone.
- 34:34[SPEAKER_00]: You know, like I'm terrible at like making a bracket.
- 34:38[SPEAKER_00]: I think my bracket
- 34:42[SPEAKER_00]: But I'm like, I have my nuggets of wisdom here and there when it comes to some of my guesses and I think the fun thing about underdog is that you can take those nuggets and you can like act on them right in like a safe and reasonable manner.
- 34:58[SPEAKER_00]: I like the app is super easy to use as I've said time and time again.

- 36:11[SPEAKER_03]: Good stuff.
- 36:13[SPEAKER_03]: Go team in the big dates.
- 36:17[SPEAKER_03]: My college is not represented.
- 36:19[SPEAKER_03]: And they already lost in the first round of the NIT.
- 36:21[SPEAKER_03]: So good for them.
- 36:22[SPEAKER_03]: Um, not my college.
- 36:24[SPEAKER_00]: I don't think is not really isn't D1.
- 36:27[SPEAKER_03]: So this is not this is not the podcast for that, but man, what a footage.
- 36:30[SPEAKER_03]: What a fall from grace from the George Mason men's basketball team this year.
- 36:34[SPEAKER_03]: Um, gracious.
- 36:36[SPEAKER_03]: Anyway, so that, uh, a four-mentioned, uh, group is that the 49ers retained two-thirds of their special teams battery from last year, uh, Eddie Peneer returning on a four-year contract, I believe it is.
- 36:53[SPEAKER_03]: John Weeks returning on a one-year deal, the long snapper, and then they added Coralis Waitman, the plunder, who was with Pittsburgh last year, as it looks as the Thomas Morse said is going to call a career, having just turned 40 years old.
- 37:11[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 37:11[SPEAKER_03]: All right.
- 37:12[SPEAKER_03]: I'm, I, I, I, I, I already know how you feel about this because we've talked about this, but there's a four year, 17 million dollar contract for Eddie Pinyero, who will be 31 this year, um, during the season.
- 37:29[SPEAKER_03]: Go.
- 37:31[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, it's too much.
- 37:32[SPEAKER_00]: It's too much.
- 37:36[SPEAKER_00]: I have like, I look at his amazing, he stabilized this kicking game.
- 37:42[SPEAKER_00]: And if this team was a kicker away from winning the Super Bowl, I'd say go for it, right?
- 37:48[SPEAKER_00]: Like flags fly forever.
- 37:50[SPEAKER_00]: But it's
- 37:53[SPEAKER_00]: It kicking is so variable year to year, and I think the one thing about Eddie is that, and he sort of, he did prove me wrong a little bit in this way.
- 38:03[SPEAKER_00]: He showed a leg, I think, more so than we thought when they signed him off the street.
- 38:10[SPEAKER_00]: And so in that way, you have that upside, but really like if we're kicking, you want
- 38:17[SPEAKER_00]: a weapon or you just want someone who's accurate and if you can find people who are accurate, way more often than I think teams are willing to admit to themselves.
- 38:28[SPEAKER_00]: Like it's really, there's a lot of people who can kick a football like at an NFL level.
- 38:37[SPEAKER_00]: And they stay away from forever.
- 38:38[SPEAKER_00]: The kickers can be so old and still play.
- 38:41[SPEAKER_00]: So you can still like get like a really high quality kicker.
- 38:45[SPEAKER_00]: And it's just it never makes sense to me why you would like pay a kicker that much.
- 38:51[SPEAKER_00]: Unless they have an absolute cannon for a leg, plus the requisite accuracy.
- 38:57[SPEAKER_00]: and like can steal you points right like Brandon Aubrey he can steal the cowboys points Cam Little for the Jaguars same thing right like those guys those guys are guys I'd be willing to pay Even then I don't know how much so I like I don't know like
- 39:17[SPEAKER_00]: Like I think the problem is it's just as equally likely that next year they have a new kicker and that's just the way kicking goes and so I
- 39:29[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know.
- 39:29[SPEAKER_00]: There's guaranteed money is going to hit.
- 39:32[SPEAKER_00]: It'll be like a cap.
- 39:34[SPEAKER_00]: I just I find it I'm very fairly confident that I'm not going to see the end of this contract for no other reason then kicking can just be cyclical and the problem is.
- 39:47[SPEAKER_00]: If you have a couple bad games in a row, you're on thin ice all right.
- 39:51[SPEAKER_00]: Like two years ago, Youngway Koo was like one of the best kickers in the NFL, right?
- 39:57[SPEAKER_00]: Then like this year, he missed two kicks that he missed and not messed up in another game.
- 40:02[SPEAKER_00]: He was caught like it just it turns so fast.
- 40:06[SPEAKER_00]: It turns so fast.
- 40:08[SPEAKER_00]: And I just think teams like sort of got a they should ride the wave more.
- 40:15[SPEAKER_00]: And yeah, that means we'll have a game where maybe you're like, I don't know.
- 40:18[SPEAKER_00]: Right.
- 40:18[SPEAKER_00]: Like, it's like, don't don't give kickers huge contracts.
- 40:24[SPEAKER_00]: Don't draft a super high.
- 40:26[SPEAKER_00]: It's not that hard.
- 40:28[SPEAKER_00]: Like, I hope I'm wrong.
- 40:29[SPEAKER_00]: I really hope I'm wrong about this.
- 40:32[SPEAKER_00]: And like, you know, we like do our end of season recap and February after the Niners win the Super Bowl.
- 40:39[SPEAKER_00]: And I'm like, wow, Eddie Pinearo is the reason like they won all these games.
- 40:44[SPEAKER_00]: And that's probably, that could be true.
- 40:46[SPEAKER_00]: Like, just a great kicker.
- 40:47[SPEAKER_00]: He's probably a top five kicker in the NFL right now.
- 40:50[SPEAKER_00]: But like,
- 40:52[SPEAKER_00]: the gap between him and like 10 is is very small.
- 40:59[SPEAKER_00]: Sure.
- 40:59[SPEAKER_00]: Basically, minuscule.
- 41:00[SPEAKER_00]: And I just like in the contracts are like in no.
- 41:04[SPEAKER_00]: Like they have cap space.
- 41:06[SPEAKER_00]: So it's like it's fine.
- 41:07[SPEAKER_00]: But they might not have cap space in like two years, right?
- 41:11[SPEAKER_00]: And then like these things start to weigh on you.
- 41:14[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 41:14[SPEAKER_00]: I like you know, I like keeping John Weeks.
- 41:17[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know, I don't know, I can't, I'm not a judge of like
- 41:21[SPEAKER_00]: But look like it was good.
- 41:23[SPEAKER_00]: And like more stead, great career.
- 41:28[SPEAKER_03]: I think he was clearly passed it last year.
- 41:30[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, exactly.
- 41:31[SPEAKER_00]: I think the Niners should have moved on anyway, and they did in support.
- 41:36[SPEAKER_00]: And like.
- 41:37[SPEAKER_00]: You know, I don't know how there's whiteened plays, but we'll see.
- 41:42[SPEAKER_00]: Like, hunting is another thing, right?
- 41:44[SPEAKER_00]: Like Mitch Wishnowski absolutely looked like like his career was over.
- 41:49[SPEAKER_00]: And so it's final year, it's here in Francisco.
- 41:52[SPEAKER_00]: Like it just, it just seemed like he didn't have any Jews.
- 41:54[SPEAKER_00]: He gets signed by Buffalo Boom.
- 41:56[SPEAKER_00]: Now he's like, he got a contract extension there because he's doing a great
- 42:02[SPEAKER_00]: A Bradley pinion who I think, um, Yeah, with the dolphins.
- 42:06[SPEAKER_00]: Exactly.
- 42:07[SPEAKER_00]: Right.
- 42:07[SPEAKER_00]: Like, start his career in San Francisco at times look terrible.
- 42:11[SPEAKER_00]: Stuck around has been really good in some other plate like it just.
- 42:17[SPEAKER_00]: It takes time and they're.
- 42:20[SPEAKER_00]: players are like kid all do very close to the same thing.
- 42:25[SPEAKER_00]: And it's all about what's that like extra special thing that you as a player are adding for me.
- 42:31[SPEAKER_00]: And so I don't know.
- 42:32[SPEAKER_00]: Like I think if you can afford the luxury you should splurge, it seems like that's what they did.
- 42:39[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I could have faulted them for that.
- 42:40[SPEAKER_00]: But like I think this organization has an overall focus on kicking.
- 42:49[SPEAKER_00]: But it doesn't make sense to me.
- 42:52[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I think that's fair.
- 42:56[SPEAKER_03]: So I think I think it's okay, like it's going to be fine, like the big, like the, it's, it's a less than two million dollar cap it in twenty six.
- 43:06[SPEAKER_03]: It goes up a little bit in twenty seven and again in twenty eight.
- 43:12[SPEAKER_03]: But they have an out after 28 where they basically will have given them three years 12 million dollars, then they'll carry a one million dollar cap hit, but it's better than the six and a half million, they'll have to pay them in 29 my guess is that's as far as it gets.
- 43:27[SPEAKER_03]: Like it'll be 33 in 2028.
- 43:29[SPEAKER_03]: Like you could be right like you could flame out before that, but my guess is it's probably closer to the three years if like I don't think you see's out the duration of this contract as currently constructed Which is totally fine and the the cap numbers are relatively low if you expected to go up and I also want to like how much How much is it cost to just be like feel secure?
- 43:51[SPEAKER_03]: You know in this situation like the coming off the situation with Jake Moody and where it was just like never you never felt good about it
- 43:58[SPEAKER_03]: for any of the time that he was here and just like the difference that Eddie Pinearo had on this team was just like, yeah, he's just consistent and maybe a little better than you expected.
- 44:07[SPEAKER_03]: I think that's, that's kind of where I'm sitting.
- 44:10[SPEAKER_03]: Like, I do, I love paying that much money for a kicker.
- 44:13[SPEAKER_03]: No, but also if you tell me that it makes the difference between them winning a couple of games in the end, I think it might have value.
- 44:20[SPEAKER_03]: I don't know.
- 44:22[SPEAKER_03]: Anyway, that's all the incoming folks.
- 44:26[SPEAKER_03]: What do you think?
- 44:27[SPEAKER_03]: Pretty solid group of infreagency, like one major splash, two major splashes, I'd say, and then just filling in the holes I think elsewhere.
- 44:37[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I mean, I really like what they did, I think.
- 44:42[SPEAKER_00]: There's it's pretty like the holes on this roster now are like glaring at you right like they needed was they need an add Russia we, um, you know, maybe two tire maybe three.
- 44:58[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, with Bryce up retirement, which thank you for, like, your year, Bryce, that sack against us, Pennsylvania Rattler, was like incredibly impressive.
- 45:09[SPEAKER_00]: And, you know, like, I thought, like, the trade was smart.
- 45:11[SPEAKER_00]: I like trading for him.
- 45:13[SPEAKER_00]: It didn't work out the way I think the team wanted.
- 45:15[SPEAKER_01]: The larger he wanted in the parties.
- 45:17[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, that's true, but I got to beat his old team in the playoffs.
- 45:22[SPEAKER_00]: We got to beat the Eagles in the playoffs, so it was fun.
- 45:25[SPEAKER_00]: Inner.
- 45:25[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 45:26[SPEAKER_00]: Like, they need ad pressures.
- 45:29[SPEAKER_00]: I think they still need a wide receiver.
- 45:31[SPEAKER_00]: Yes.
- 45:32[SPEAKER_00]: Like, they need something.
- 45:33[SPEAKER_00]: They need a young receiver with speed.
- 45:35[SPEAKER_00]: That's just like, it's so necessary in a way that, um,
- 45:42[SPEAKER_00]: Like I know some people think that the Evans and Kirk signings me and they're not going to look at receiver, I really think of the first two picks they're going receiver.
- 45:53[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, they only have eight guys on the roster right now.
- 45:56[SPEAKER_03]: So nine if you include Brandon.
- 45:58[SPEAKER_03]: I look.
- 46:00[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, let's note, and it's like Mike Evans, you feel pretty good about risk you've heard saw you feel pretty good about.
- 46:12[SPEAKER_03]: Okay, like there's a player and they're still but they're older guys and then after that it's like Millic Turner and Jacob Cowang and Jordan Walken, so we've seen absolutely nothing out of any of those guys like It's there there is a first or second round wider see if we're coming out like I would bet Put some money on it.
- 46:34[SPEAKER_00]: I would say yeah And then maybe the safety
- 46:39[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I think they need to say like like maybe so this is probably my biggest miss of this of the like yeah, you were quite adamant about this like I was so sure they were going to maybe they've been and like it didn't look out, but I was so sure they were going to splurge for one of these safety's it seems as the most of the safety's kind of one
- 47:04[SPEAKER_00]: to places beyond like sheer money like Brian Cook, I think, went back home to Cincinnati, Camp Cruel, stayed Kobe Bryant went to Chicago.
- 47:16[SPEAKER_00]: Okay, so Kobe Bryant, I think the Niners could have.
- 47:19[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I mean, even if you, I mean, in Richard Sherman made this point about this on his podcast, I think, like if they had brought in, was it, did he say?
- 47:28[SPEAKER_00]: Kevin Bired.
- 47:29[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, yeah, I think was the name of that he mentioned, or a guy like that, like an older, like veteran guy to just kind of like put some, like talk some sense into that room, just because it's so young and it's all over, and they're just kind of like, all over the place, like, it's just needed, it just needs some solidifying.
- 47:47[SPEAKER_03]: So I think that might have helped.
- 47:48[SPEAKER_03]: But yeah, I think that's a place to watch for in this draft, I think.
- 47:55[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I mean, I would love.
- 47:58[SPEAKER_00]: Love, love, love, love.
- 47:59[SPEAKER_00]: If some have some way, it's not going to happen.
- 48:02[SPEAKER_00]: Like this is actually a pipe dream.
- 48:04[SPEAKER_00]: If Caleb down's got on this team, it's not going to happen.
- 48:07[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, this is not going to happen.
- 48:09[SPEAKER_03]: It's like a top top five top 10 guy.
- 48:12[SPEAKER_03]: Right.
- 48:13[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I mean, look, a guy can dream, you know, but home.
- 48:18[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, like I think they need a safety.
- 48:20[SPEAKER_00]: They need a receiver.
- 48:21[SPEAKER_00]: They need at rushers.
- 48:23[SPEAKER_02]: And then probably on that on offensive line.
- 48:25[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, yeah, we're long.
- 48:27[SPEAKER_00]: By and large, you know, I think they addressed a lot of the places they needed to and they got two different makers, which was really important, right?
- 48:38[SPEAKER_00]: Like at the end of the day, this team,
- 48:43[SPEAKER_00]: needed people who move the needle in like important positions and they got that they're yet more they can always have more you want to make sure all across the roster if you can help it but like I'm I'm happy with what they did I also think
- 49:00[SPEAKER_00]: on serenations about Eddie Peneer's contract decided they were relatively like prudent with having managed the cap right like there's no crazy contracts with huge cap hits and like void here's that like just bogged you down and there's always void here's not stress but yeah but like you know it's like it's in the way it's back to like the typical 49ers operating where the contracts they sign are like
- 49:28[SPEAKER_00]: kind of like terrifyingly in favor of them.
- 49:32[SPEAKER_00]: Like, I think it's good.
- 49:34[SPEAKER_00]: I think it's a little more sustainable than the way they've approached it.
- 49:38[SPEAKER_00]: But really, I mean, the reality is it's deemed me to draft better than they have in the last couple of years.
- 49:43[SPEAKER_00]: And that that's going to be the real question.
- 49:46[SPEAKER_03]: Like, yeah, I don't have a lot of bullets in the chamber, unfortunately
- 49:56[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 49:56[SPEAKER_03]: Good.
- 49:56[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, look.
- 49:57[SPEAKER_00]: Well, no, just I like it's a little beyond the scope of our free view or review a free agency, but like really, like this team has just not been good at drafting the last few years and that's absolutely what's created the sort of like they're good, but they're not really good enough.
- 50:18[SPEAKER_00]: And like yeah, that's that is the thing they have to address so we shall see how that goes but like to the extent to which you can remake your team in free agency
- 50:30[SPEAKER_00]: an ad-important like playmakers.
- 50:32[SPEAKER_00]: I think they did that and like buy and large length.
- 50:35[SPEAKER_00]: It's a success.
- 50:36[SPEAKER_00]: It was a successful march for your San Francisco.
- 50:40[SPEAKER_03]: Great.
- 50:41[SPEAKER_03]: We'll talk more about the draft in the coming weeks for sure.
- 50:44[SPEAKER_03]: Let's talk briefly about the guys that they have lost so far.
- 50:48[SPEAKER_03]: This is not an ended list yet because there's a bunch of guys who are still out there and we'll talk about two one player that is still out there and one who is not out there for a reason who we've already
- 51:00[SPEAKER_03]: And then we'll get to the wrap it up.
- 51:02[SPEAKER_03]: You mentioned Bricehof retired.
- 51:04[SPEAKER_03]: Robert Biel goes to the Dolphins.
- 51:07[SPEAKER_03]: Kendrick Born goes to the Arizona Cardinals, Spencer Burford signs with the Las Vegas Raiders.
- 51:11[SPEAKER_03]: Khalia Davis to Cleveland, Jordan Elliott, rejoins Robert Sala in Tennessee with the Titans.
- 51:19[SPEAKER_03]: Who, by the way, 100% like, good move with the rebrand.
- 51:24[SPEAKER_03]: I have to say on the Titans part.
- 51:26[SPEAKER_03]: Like, yes, is it the oilers, basically?
- 51:29[SPEAKER_03]: But is that bad?
- 51:30[SPEAKER_03]: No, that's on the side.
- 51:32[SPEAKER_03]: Matt Hennessy goes to Dallas, Skymore, to Green Bay, and Jason Pinoc returns to the Giants.
- 51:41[SPEAKER_03]: I cannot say that I am sad about...
- 51:43[SPEAKER_03]: pretty much any of this.
- 51:45[SPEAKER_03]: I think the only one in the list and I'm like, uh, like it's a little bit of skymore because I would have been a interesting to see if he could have continued to improve as a return return guy and also just to see if he, if Shannon could have figured out a way to get him into the offense more.
- 52:01[SPEAKER_03]: But outside of that, I'm like, yeah, I'm good.
- 52:05[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, so my, I agree.
- 52:09[SPEAKER_00]: You know, we in our like,
- 52:11[SPEAKER_00]: talking about internal free agents.
- 52:13[SPEAKER_00]: I was like, oh, like,
- 52:14[SPEAKER_00]: Jacob Cowling.
- 52:16[SPEAKER_00]: That's like the replacement.
- 52:17[SPEAKER_00]: I think that's probably what the team is thinking to start point at least.
- 52:21[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, so we'll have to see how that plays out.
- 52:24[SPEAKER_00]: I think the two name, well, the one thing is like, we might have mentioned like KV signing with Arizona, but like good for him.
- 52:33[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I don't know.
- 52:34[SPEAKER_00]: I love KV.
- 52:35[SPEAKER_00]: Like I can get him to get in the bag, good for him.
- 52:40[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, like
- 52:44[SPEAKER_00]: nice work way to way to go like and that's probably the way he wanted this year to play out minus probably winning Super Bowl.
- 52:51[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah exactly.
- 52:52[SPEAKER_00]: It like you know it like so sad that he's in the division but happy that he uh
- 52:59[SPEAKER_00]: you got another nice contract.
- 53:02[SPEAKER_00]: Jordan Elliott.
- 53:03[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know if the nine just going to bring him back.
- 53:04[SPEAKER_00]: I do think they need a guy like him on this team.
- 53:08[SPEAKER_03]: So more no, more no, saccilly type.
- 53:10[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, no, saccilly.
- 53:12[SPEAKER_00]: A little older.
- 53:12[SPEAKER_00]: Like Alfred Collins kind of gives you that a little bit, but I think they you probably want like a vet.
- 53:18[SPEAKER_00]: Something about like old man's strength.
- 53:20[SPEAKER_00]: Just like.
- 53:20[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, borrowed right in this center there.
- 53:23[SPEAKER_00]: So that's like a, that's the position I'm keeping an eye out.
- 53:28[SPEAKER_00]: And then personally like Khalia Davis, I think he's going to do.
- 53:32[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know how many snaps he's going to get in Cleveland, but I think he's going to do well.
- 53:37[SPEAKER_00]: Like he just like,
- 53:38[SPEAKER_00]: he always had a play where he just looked eviscerated a center last year.
- 53:44[SPEAKER_00]: It was insane, like he would win immediately.
- 53:48[SPEAKER_00]: And like, I don't know, injuries kind of, I think derailed his career before it could ever take off with San Francisco, but that's a guy who I wouldn't be surprised if he's like productive elsewhere.
- 54:00[SPEAKER_00]: Other than that, yeah, I mean, like,
- 54:03[SPEAKER_00]: the promise of Spencer Durford never fully materialized, which is disappointing, but also, you know, I think even he's like probably a win for this team drafting wise, looking for the snap pic to your starter, like good deck peak player, the very least, and yeah, I mean, I don't know, like I think the only thing that like concerns me about this group is that,
- 54:30[SPEAKER_00]: like they lost a safety that in add a safety, the lost a couple of defensive tackles, they only added one, like they haven't, like backfilled these players.
- 54:41[SPEAKER_00]: But there's plenty of time for that.
- 54:43[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, yeah, that's coming.
- 54:44[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I mean, the defensive tackle room looks to be a pretty good shape between OSA and Alfred Collins and CJ West and Kevin Givens is still there.
- 54:55[SPEAKER_03]: Kind of serve as your long standing veteran.
- 54:57[SPEAKER_03]: Probably need to add another guy in there.
- 55:00[SPEAKER_03]: Of course, you're going to have some overlap with like Michael Williams who's going to move inside and outside, Keon White, can do the same kind of thing.
- 55:09[SPEAKER_03]: So there'll be some interesting names there for sure.
- 55:11[SPEAKER_03]: All right, let's wrap this up with three short conversations.
- 55:15[SPEAKER_03]: First is one that you mentioned in that's John Jennings.
- 55:21[SPEAKER_03]: What's happening there?
- 55:22[SPEAKER_03]: Like if Mike Evans can get his only going to get 14 million
- 55:27[SPEAKER_03]: I mean at this point he's got a he's gonna end up signing like a one-year prove it deal right like that's the other way is getting any money higher than What like Evans got would be my thought right?
- 55:41[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, but I don't know, like, I'm really interested in what's why Joanne's contract, like, market is the way it is.
- 55:49[SPEAKER_00]: I think it's because, like, look, Jennings is, like, really, really good at what he does.
- 55:55[SPEAKER_00]: But what he does is a bit, like, idiots in critic and so far as very old school and so far as he doesn't separate super well.
- 56:06[SPEAKER_00]: He doesn't get a wrap runner, but he doesn't separate super well.
- 56:09[SPEAKER_00]: He has strong hands, but not super shirt hands, I would say.
- 56:15[SPEAKER_00]: Right.
- 56:17[SPEAKER_00]: And like, I mean, he's like an absolute sort of monster when it comes to blocking you in the act and rag.
- 56:23[SPEAKER_00]: But it seems like, I mean, even the 49ers seem to be trying to move away from getting that type or receive as well, want a little more like ability to like get open.
- 56:35[SPEAKER_00]: So,
- 56:37[SPEAKER_00]: It's tough.
- 56:37[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know.
- 56:38[SPEAKER_00]: I'm like, we all, we both thought that he'd wind up in Tennessee.
- 56:42[SPEAKER_00]: I still think he'll wind up in Tennessee.
- 56:45[SPEAKER_00]: But yeah, I mean, it's, I'm sure it's disappointing for him, you know, he had a good year two years ago, great year two years ago.
- 56:54[SPEAKER_00]: Followed up with like a fine to good year this year, nothing like bad, right?
- 56:59[SPEAKER_00]: But it seems like the market is sort of just passed and buy.
- 57:02[SPEAKER_00]: And like the wide receiver market was weird.
- 57:05[SPEAKER_00]: But my I can have it in Scott 14 million.
- 57:07[SPEAKER_00]: But out pure Scott 30, right in Romeo dobs got like 15, I think.
- 57:13[SPEAKER_00]: So all over the place.
- 57:17[SPEAKER_00]: And so just hopefully he lands, lastly, hopefully he lands with an AFC team that's like, there it up like the Tennessee Titans.
- 57:26[SPEAKER_00]: Exactly.
- 57:28[SPEAKER_03]: And if CT and that just won't really impact anybody in any way, shape, perform.
- 57:32[SPEAKER_03]: Next.
- 57:32[SPEAKER_00]: Like, I'm, look.
- 57:34[SPEAKER_03]: It's my tendency.
- 57:35[SPEAKER_00]: If you could sign, chew on for the six million you get Christian Kirk, I would have been fine with that.
- 57:41[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know.
- 57:41[SPEAKER_00]: He's not going to accept that.
- 57:43[SPEAKER_00]: Like, I like.
- 57:43[SPEAKER_00]: So the problem is, he's above where the Niners would be shopping now.
- 57:48[SPEAKER_00]: So I don't think there's any chances coming back.
- 57:50[SPEAKER_02]: No.
- 57:50[SPEAKER_00]: I think that's done.
- 57:52[SPEAKER_00]: So I don't know where to end up.
- 57:57[SPEAKER_00]: You could end up in Vegas, I don't know.
- 58:00[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know.
- 58:01[SPEAKER_00]: It'll be interesting, maybe with the chargers.
- 58:05[SPEAKER_00]: We'll see.
- 58:05[SPEAKER_00]: I think there's spots for him, but I don't know if he'll be at a contract amount.
- 58:11[SPEAKER_00]: I wanted one.
- 58:12[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I'm almost certainly not.
- 58:14[SPEAKER_03]: He's not getting anything over 20 million at this particular point without question.
- 58:18[SPEAKER_03]: And I think, you know, that's like you said.
- 58:21[SPEAKER_03]: He had a great season two years ago and then kind of fell off last year for various reasons.
- 58:26[SPEAKER_03]: And I just don't think that teams are going to want to pay a guy who was up there and then came back down to and and let's be reasonable as we talked about while that season was happening that season was all three of the seasons previous was better than all three of his seasons before that combined.
- 58:49[SPEAKER_03]: And so it's there's probably a little bit of my guess is the thinking is last year is a little closer to the guy he actually is I think that's probably fair right he's not a thousand yard receiver like really it's just that particular year he was it like everybody was hurt and that was he was the guy and he you know to his credit he showed up and proved for that if you put him in that situation he could probably get the job done but.
- 59:16[SPEAKER_03]: I think there's, I think it's not unreasonable to say, John Jennings is more of like a five to seven hundred yard receiver than he is like a nine to eleven hundred yard receiver.
- 59:28[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, that's probably right.
- 59:29[SPEAKER_03]: And there's something wrong with that.
- 59:30[SPEAKER_03]: Like everybody needs that.
- 59:32[SPEAKER_03]: So it's like not everybody can be a thousand yard receiver, let's just be fair.
- 59:36[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, yeah, all right, two more things.
- 59:40[SPEAKER_03]: Brandon, I look, this is not obviously been actually stated, but the team is not really similar.
- 59:46[SPEAKER_03]: The league years started if they want to release him at this point with the all the void with this contract void and everything they could, but it appears, and the reports seem to be that they're holding out as long as they possibly can.
- 1:00:00[SPEAKER_03]: They want a team to get desperate and like send over a six or seven They're on draft pick.
- 1:00:04[SPEAKER_03]: Just so they can get something for it.
- 1:00:06[SPEAKER_03]: A report came out later that the Washington Commanders were absolutely not interested In trading for him.
- 1:00:12[SPEAKER_03]: And the the scuddle but has been the whole time that that's the most logical place for him to end up Adam Peters knows him.
- 1:00:20[SPEAKER_03]: I think was part of the team when they drafted him.
- 1:00:23[SPEAKER_03]: Jayden Daniels the quarterback there is one of his best friends.
- 1:00:27[SPEAKER_03]: It seems like like the if there's a team that's gonna give a guy who had just had the year and a half that brain and I just had It seems like that's the direction they're gonna go, but the Niners don't seem to be interested in just letting them go on play It's certainly a little on the petty side.
- 1:00:46[SPEAKER_03]: I think if this is exactly what they're doing, but I also kind of get it based on what happened from the team's perspective.
- 1:00:58[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know, the eye of situation is just so weird to me.
- 1:01:03[SPEAKER_00]: And I thought we just we don't know what actually happened.
- 1:01:08[SPEAKER_00]: Like that's really what I think.
- 1:01:09[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, for sure.
- 1:01:10[SPEAKER_00]: Is that like, it's, I don't know.
- 1:01:13[SPEAKER_00]: Because, look, look, I think the 49ers basically were bred at the contract to gave him the second he signed it.
- 1:01:18[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 1:01:19[SPEAKER_00]: Like, maybe even before he signed it, when they said, here's our contract offer.
- 1:01:24[SPEAKER_00]: They were like, oh shoot, maybe we shouldn't have done it.
- 1:01:26[SPEAKER_00]: I think if they could take this back, they would have traded him to Pittsburgh for like a third and one or whatever, Pittsburgh was giving him or like the Broncos for Quarton Sutton or I don't whatever, whatever packages were out there, they'd do it over.
- 1:01:40[SPEAKER_00]: Even like if I you did get hurt, I think they'd do it over.
- 1:01:44[SPEAKER_00]: I think it's just hard to like explicate
- 1:01:52[SPEAKER_00]: is I use knee really that bad are the 49ers sort of why was he not cleared like what is what sort of is the team worried essentially that he will play well for another team I think that's the answer right I think the 49ers are worried that like are you because essentially.
- 1:02:14[SPEAKER_00]: by forefitting a ton of money, like broken his contract and the 49ers will release him and then he'll go and have a great career somewhere else.
- 1:02:23[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know, man, you just like you got to deal with it at this point.
- 1:02:26[SPEAKER_00]: Like, I, this is, um, it's a little silly.
- 1:02:31[SPEAKER_00]: I, I think the pettiness is unjustified and like, unbecoming, frankly, of the organization like,
- 1:02:42[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know how much players care, but I think this is a bad look.
- 1:02:45[SPEAKER_00]: Like, you've avoided his contract.
- 1:02:47[SPEAKER_00]: Clearly he didn't show up.
- 1:02:49[SPEAKER_00]: You don't want him on your team anymore.
- 1:02:51[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 1:02:52[SPEAKER_00]: Like, just just cut him.
- 1:02:54[SPEAKER_00]: Right.
- 1:02:54[SPEAKER_00]: Like, hold out, sure.
- 1:02:56[SPEAKER_00]: But like,
- 1:02:58[SPEAKER_00]: before the drink.
- 1:02:58[SPEAKER_00]: Like, cause like, well, if you cut him at a certain point, no one's gonna sign him or write or like, people might sign him, but he'll like get like, oh, like a minimum, vet, men deal.
- 1:03:09[SPEAKER_00]: Cause people want to have cap space.
- 1:03:10[SPEAKER_00]: And I think it just like, it seems that even if it's not, even if it is about asset management, it seems vindictive in a way that I don't think the team.
- 1:03:20[SPEAKER_00]: Like, I don't think it's a good look for the foreign nine or two-lick vindictive here.
- 1:03:23[SPEAKER_00]: And I think just because like it seemed clear that they were never super comfortable with the contract to begin with, it's just a bad look overall so yeah like it's I am like on the flip side yeah like it's a bad situation you don't want to get me up from nothing but I find this to be just a bit like it just seems a bit odd for me like no one's going to trade for him because
- 1:03:49[SPEAKER_03]: they know he's going to get cut eventually.
- 1:03:51[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, right.
- 1:03:52[SPEAKER_00]: Like you said, he's not going to be on our team.
- 1:03:54[SPEAKER_00]: Like you can't do that and then like you have no there's no leverage here, right?
- 1:04:00[SPEAKER_00]: Cause his contract is non guaranteed, but he's still making a ton of money, right?
- 1:04:05[SPEAKER_00]: Like and so it will be like I just like.
- 1:04:11[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know, like, I think they should just get it over with it.
- 1:04:15[SPEAKER_00]: It's the reality of the situation, right?
- 1:04:17[SPEAKER_00]: He's going to go somewhere.
- 1:04:18[SPEAKER_00]: He'll probably be like fine because he's a good football player, so he just needs okay.
- 1:04:22[SPEAKER_00]: And he's just like, you chalk it up, right?
- 1:04:24[SPEAKER_00]: It didn't work out.
- 1:04:25[SPEAKER_00]: It's a miss, like you have misses.
- 1:04:27[SPEAKER_00]: But I think there's need to be done at this saga.
- 1:04:31[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I mean, I tend to agree.
- 1:04:33[SPEAKER_03]: You hold out for a little bit, see if somebody gets desperate and then like, but you got to let him go before the draft.
- 1:04:38[SPEAKER_03]: Like I think that's just it.
- 1:04:41[SPEAKER_03]: If, after that, it just becomes pretty kill us.
- 1:04:44[SPEAKER_03]: So, all right, Docs, I was one final question, and then we'll wrap it up.
- 1:04:49[SPEAKER_03]: If you could make one, if you could have the 49ers, make one more move in the, in what's left of the free agency market, what do you think it would be?
- 1:04:58[SPEAKER_03]: You can be as specific as you want with this, and I did not prep you, so you are just going off top here.
- 1:05:03[SPEAKER_00]: Well, you know,
- 1:05:05[SPEAKER_00]: I have an answer, but I already said it in the podcast of the field boring, like I think I think they should sign Joel Bittonia, like, just an interior offensive lineman for sure.
- 1:05:19[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, ideally, I'd like if they took a look at, like, should deviant clowny, maybe or an adressor, get it, like a veteran adressant, one of those two, I'd say.
- 1:05:35[SPEAKER_00]: I don't think there's a receiver in for you to see any more worth, like worth signing for this team that's going to like push move the needle.
- 1:05:44[SPEAKER_00]: Offensive line beyond Biltonia, I'm just not so sure that like the contract prices will be justified.
- 1:05:51[SPEAKER_00]: I think Piltonia will get like a one and maybe two year deal.
- 1:05:54[SPEAKER_00]: And then like yeah, I think all the good safeties have been signed already.
- 1:05:57[SPEAKER_00]: So.
- 1:05:58[SPEAKER_00]: That's that's unfortunate.
- 1:06:00[SPEAKER_00]: I could if I could go back in time.
- 1:06:02[SPEAKER_00]: I'd have them sign Kobe Brian or Brian Cook, but I don't have that.
- 1:06:06[SPEAKER_03]: I don't have that.
- 1:06:08[SPEAKER_03]: We can not do that.
- 1:06:10[SPEAKER_03]: That seems to me.
- 1:06:12[SPEAKER_03]: I just said it's it's it's time to it's both a brother time.
- 1:06:18[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, yeah, there you go.
- 1:06:19[SPEAKER_00]: I, you know, it's like it's like right there, man.
- 1:06:20[SPEAKER_03]: It's just like I'm not I'm not I'm not I'm not I'm not I'm not I'm not I'm not I'm not I'm not I'm not I'm not I'm not I'm not I'm not I'm not I'm not I'm not I'm not I'm not I'm not I'm not I'm not I'm not I'm not I'm not I'm not I'm not I'm not I'm not I'm not I'm not I'm not I'm not I'm not I'm not I'm not I'm not I'm not I'm not I'm not I
- 1:06:29[SPEAKER_03]: it's the time it's become like most clear like he made it through the first whatever ten days seven week of free agency without getting signed like it's pretty sure it's pretty clear his market is going to be because like i think they kick the tires on him last year but ball full of just gave him a lot of money in the end right and if he's willing to cut if he's like i need to play with my brother before i
- 1:06:59[SPEAKER_03]: This team needs like several more adressors.
- 1:07:02[SPEAKER_03]: And I think as a like a situational guy, Bosa, Bosa, Nosa, and then the two Bosa's on either side.
- 1:07:13[SPEAKER_03]: It'd be a lot, a lot of Oosa being, but it'd be great.
- 1:07:19[SPEAKER_03]: I'm down.
- 1:07:20[SPEAKER_03]: Make it happen.
- 1:07:21[SPEAKER_03]: All right, I'll show as any final thoughts before we wrap this one up.
- 1:07:28[SPEAKER_00]: Um, you know, teams looking get I think like in what is a bit like surprising to me anyway, I think the national media is like really like jumped in on the 49ers being super improved because of the two moves we talked the big like big name moves that they've made right that's cool, but like I think like
- 1:07:50[SPEAKER_00]: to be a little pessimistic, I suppose, to wrap us up.
- 1:07:53[SPEAKER_00]: Like it was good move, but this team has like, there's a lot of work to do.
- 1:07:57[SPEAKER_00]: I think in the draft in particular, like they need that youth infusion to continue.
- 1:08:02[SPEAKER_00]: They got to get like actual starters, right?
- 1:08:05[SPEAKER_00]: And we'll talk about this more later.
- 1:08:07[SPEAKER_00]: But I wanted to playmaker, they got to playmaker, then we all wanted like better defensive alignment, they got a better defensive alignment.
- 1:08:16[SPEAKER_00]: A lot of people want to Eddie Peniro back, Eddie Peniro's back, like it's a good tidy piece of work in free agency and I think that at the very least is what you
- 1:08:30[SPEAKER_00]: which we're looking for.
- 1:08:31[SPEAKER_00]: They didn't, nothing they did is gonna hurt them down the line that they're very least.
- 1:08:36[SPEAKER_00]: They're gonna be as good if not better than last year, just based off the pieces they added here.
- 1:08:40[SPEAKER_00]: And I think that's an exciting place to be.
- 1:08:43[SPEAKER_00]: So I don't know.
- 1:08:44[SPEAKER_00]: I'm excited, you know, it's rare like you're thinking about the players that are gonna be added, you think that the draft, like, I'm ready for football, man.
- 1:08:53[SPEAKER_00]: I can't believe we got to wait like four months until
- 1:08:56[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, but it's for five.
- 1:09:00[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know.
- 1:09:01[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, that's something.
- 1:09:02[SPEAKER_03]: So, well, the baseball season's almost here.
- 1:09:05[SPEAKER_03]: It's fine.
- 1:09:06[SPEAKER_00]: That's true.
- 1:09:07[SPEAKER_03]: It'll be good.
- 1:09:07[SPEAKER_03]: All right.
- 1:09:08[SPEAKER_03]: Well, on that note, on that pessimistic note from our chest, now I'm getting.
- 1:09:13[SPEAKER_03]: We want to say thanks.
