- 0:00[SPEAKER_01]: Hey friend, welcome back to Bible Track Decos.
- 0:02[SPEAKER_01]: I'm Mike and McCurray, you're host.
- 0:04[SPEAKER_01]: I wanna thank you so much for tuning in today.
- 0:07[SPEAKER_01]: Now I've got a war in you.
- 0:08[SPEAKER_01]: You might need to buckle up your seat belt, keep your hands and feet inside the vehicle.
- 0:12[SPEAKER_01]: All this week on Bible Track Decos, because we will be hearing from our founder.
- 0:19[SPEAKER_01]: Dr. Paul Oveen, back in 1938,
- 0:21[SPEAKER_01]: founded the ministry of Bible tracks and corporated now.
- 0:24[SPEAKER_01]: He passed to heaven in 1996, but while the Lord had him here on earth, he was a fireball preacher.
- 0:33[SPEAKER_01]: Just a wonderful personality.
- 0:35[SPEAKER_01]: He got along with people so well.
- 0:37[SPEAKER_01]: He was the same in the pulpit as he was out of the pulpit.
- 0:41[SPEAKER_01]: But the message that you're going to hear today from Paul Avine was actually from 1980.
- 0:46[SPEAKER_01]: He preached a multitude of teen camps and did a wonderful job relating to those young people, even as he approached his 60s and 70s and close to 80 years old.
- 0:57[SPEAKER_01]: And that's what we are going to hear today.
- 1:00[SPEAKER_01]: A wonderful message from a man of God of yesterday year,
- 1:05[SPEAKER_01]: but I've got to warn you it's going to be serious.
- 1:08[SPEAKER_01]: He cared so much about the young people that he was willing to tell them the truth.
- 1:14[SPEAKER_01]: We're going to listen to a message from 1980.
- 1:16[SPEAKER_01]: I believe he preached it at the Bill Rice Ranch if I'm not mistaken.
- 1:20[SPEAKER_01]: And I'm going to ask if you would to listen very intently to what the man of God has to say today.
- 1:26[SPEAKER_01]: Dr. Paul Avine
- 1:27[SPEAKER_01]: Though he was and just had this reputation for being very kind, he was not afraid to preach the Bible.
- 1:36[SPEAKER_01]: So I'm going to ask you, this question does everlasting mean everlasting.
- 1:44[SPEAKER_01]: That's the one of the questions that Dr. Paul is going to examine today.
- 1:49[SPEAKER_01]: The next voice you will hear is Dr. Paul of In from this message from 1980.
- 1:56[SPEAKER_02]: Well, when your Bible is pleased, get Matthew chapter 25.
- 2:00[SPEAKER_02]: Matthew chapter 25.
- 2:02[SPEAKER_02]: We've had a wonderful day, had a lot of fun, enjoyed all the musical numbers this morning, and tonight, and skits, and everything.
- 2:10[SPEAKER_02]: Now, we want to get real serious for a few minutes.
- 2:12[SPEAKER_02]: Around the Word of God, we're just hoping and praying that God will do something in your life tonight.
- 2:18[SPEAKER_02]: Matthew chapter 25, let's all stay and please while we read a couple of verses.
- 2:26[SPEAKER_02]: Without going into the context of this, I just want to notice a couple of expressions and two verses here.
- 2:31[SPEAKER_02]: In verse 41, then shall he say also to them on the left, onto them on the left hand.
- 2:36[SPEAKER_02]: The part from me he cursed, now notice into ever lasting fire.
- 2:41[SPEAKER_02]: ever-lasting fire prepared for the devil and his angels.
- 2:46[SPEAKER_02]: You see, originally, hell was prepared, not for you, but hell was prepared for the devil, and the angels that fell into sin with him.
- 2:54[SPEAKER_02]: But then when men sin, that put men on the side of the devil, and so now, all who refuse to be saved, stay on the devil's side, go to hell with the devil.
- 3:03[SPEAKER_02]: And, or is what the Lord Jesus said here, he calls it ever-lasting fire, not jumped on the verse 46.
- 3:09[SPEAKER_02]: these y'all go away into everlasting punishment.
- 3:14[SPEAKER_02]: What kind of fire is it?
- 3:15[SPEAKER_02]: Young people say the word?
- 3:16[SPEAKER_02]: What kind of fire is it?
- 3:18[SPEAKER_02]: Okay, and what kind of punishment is it?
- 3:20[SPEAKER_02]: All right, these y'all go away into everlasting punishment verse 46, but the righteous into life eternal.
- 3:28[SPEAKER_02]: So you have the word everlasting, referring to fire in verse 41.
- 3:32[SPEAKER_02]: You have the word everlasting, referring to punishment in verse 46.
- 3:37[SPEAKER_02]: And you have the word eternal, referring to life also in verse 46.
- 3:41[SPEAKER_02]: But remember now, that the Greek word which is translated, everlasting, referring to fire.
- 3:47[SPEAKER_02]: And some of the aren't listening.
- 3:49[SPEAKER_02]: Please look at me now, unless you're looking at it by it.
- 3:51[SPEAKER_02]: We don't look back or look around.
- 3:53[SPEAKER_02]: You have to get this first part, so you want to understand what I'm going to talk about after
- 3:56[SPEAKER_02]: The word translated everlasting referring to fire in verse 41 and the word everlasting in verse 46, referring to punishment is the same Greek word translated eternal with reference to eternal life.
- 4:14[SPEAKER_02]: So I want you to remember that.
- 4:15[SPEAKER_02]: The word everlasting and the word eternal are from the same Greek word.
- 4:26[SPEAKER_02]: and die power, and we might preach like Peter said, he preached with a Holy Spirit, sent down from heaven and Paul, who said, he didn't come with persuasive words on man's wisdom, but preached in demonstration of the Spirit and the power.
- 4:39[SPEAKER_02]: We pray tonight that I will deal with these young folks and Lord in a very special way.
- 4:44[SPEAKER_02]: We pray that the lost shall realize the awfulness of dying and going to hell, and that any Christians here were sinned in their lives shall realize the awfulness of going on with the prospects of having their whole future lives ruined because of sin.
- 4:59[SPEAKER_02]: And make it easy to preach and easy to listen.
- 5:01[SPEAKER_02]: And also easy to obey thy words to night and Jesus name a man.
- 5:07[SPEAKER_02]: Alright, now listen very carefully, the roving mic is busted, so I got staying real still and I can't move around much in the night, I feel like singing don't fence me in, but if you're less in real good, I want you to get this first part for sure, now here we go again.
- 5:22[SPEAKER_02]: The Greek word translated eternal with reference to eternal life is the same Greek word translated everlasting with reference to fire and everlasting with reference to punishment.
- 5:33[SPEAKER_02]: In other words, they all last just as long, they're out there.
- 5:36[SPEAKER_02]: If eternal life means life without end, then everlasting fire and everlasting punishment also means everlasting fire without end.
- 5:44[SPEAKER_02]: Or everlasting punishment without end.
- 5:46[SPEAKER_02]: They both just last just as long because they both described by the same Greek word, which is nearly as I can pronounce it, is in the Greek language.
- 5:54[SPEAKER_02]: I only ask, no, look, whatever you do to one of these, you have to do the other.
- 5:58[SPEAKER_02]: If you say,
- 5:58[SPEAKER_02]: that everlasting fire doesn't mean everlasting fire, then you have to say eternal life doesn't mean eternal life.
- 6:04[SPEAKER_02]: If you say everlasting punishment does not mean everlasting punishment, then you have to also say that eternal life does not mean eternal life.
- 6:12[SPEAKER_02]: If you say that everlasting fire means fire for a thousand years, are you listening over here?
- 6:17[SPEAKER_02]: Are you listening?
- 6:18[SPEAKER_02]: Let's you looking at your Bible.
- 6:19[SPEAKER_02]: No look around.
- 6:20[SPEAKER_02]: No look over this way.
- 6:21[SPEAKER_02]: Ever lasting fire, if you say that everlasting fire is fire in hell at last for a thousand years, then you have to say that eternal life lasts for a thousand years.
- 6:32[SPEAKER_02]: If you say that eternal life lasts forever, then you have to say that everlasting fire lasts forever.
- 6:38[SPEAKER_02]: and everlasting punishment, last forever.
- 6:41[SPEAKER_02]: They both last just as long.
- 6:43[SPEAKER_02]: And if you destroy ever-lasting punishment, you also destroy ever-lasting life.
- 6:49[SPEAKER_02]: If you destroy ever-lasting fire, then you also destroy ever-lasting life.
- 6:54[SPEAKER_02]: So if you're gonna have ever-lasting life in heaven, and life that never ends then it is, then you must accept what the Bible says about ever-lasting fire.
- 7:02[SPEAKER_02]: and everlasting punishment.
- 7:04[SPEAKER_02]: This Greek word is found 70 times in a new testament.
- 7:07[SPEAKER_02]: Three times as a noun when it could simply mean the word age, but as an adjective.
- 7:12[SPEAKER_02]: An adjective, I mean the word an adjective is.
- 7:14[SPEAKER_02]: All right, an adjective is the word that describes a what?
- 7:18[SPEAKER_02]: No, all right, no man, as an adjective, this Greek word means without end.
- 7:23[SPEAKER_02]: That's what means in the Greek language.
- 7:25[SPEAKER_02]: No, I won't time I was speaking in a Bible college and there's a man there that taught Greek and he has written a good number of books regarding the English Greek New Testament.
- 7:36[SPEAKER_02]: And I said to him, I want you to tell me, you teach Greek here, I want you to tell me, what does this Greek word mean?
- 7:41[SPEAKER_02]: This Greek word Ionian is, wasn't mean.
- 7:43[SPEAKER_02]: He says, I'll show you.
- 7:44[SPEAKER_02]: He pull a whole row of books off of these shelves.
- 7:47[SPEAKER_02]: They am not on a table in front of me, and we went from book to book, and he says, I'll just show you that this Greek word always without exception always means without end.
- 7:58[SPEAKER_02]: If God says anything is ionious, translate it ever last in your eternal.
- 8:02[SPEAKER_02]: If God says it's that, then it is what lasts forever.
- 8:06[SPEAKER_02]: Now I want to show you, you know, God uses this word.
- 8:09[SPEAKER_02]: I want you to be convinced
- 8:13[SPEAKER_02]: I want you to be convinced that if you go to hell you'll suffer ever lasting fire and you will suffer ever lasting punishment.
- 8:21[SPEAKER_02]: This is not something that some not had dreamed up sometimes because he drank too much Coca-Cola before he went to bed.
- 8:27[SPEAKER_02]: This is the solid teaching of the Word of God that whoever W. Armstrong and nobody else can deny.
- 8:34[SPEAKER_02]: And we want you to see this in the Bible tonight.
- 8:37[SPEAKER_02]: Now I want to make sure it's something here and you turn your Bible So second Corinthians chapter four and look at verse 18 Second Corinthians chapter four and verse 18 and this is what it says the things that are seen our temporal But the things that are not seen are eternal not that word eternal in English language
- 8:56[SPEAKER_02]: It's the same Greek word ionios, translated everlasting fire, everlasting punishment, and eternal life.
- 9:02[SPEAKER_02]: The things that are seen are temporal, what does that mean?
- 9:05[SPEAKER_02]: Well, it just means that the things that you can see will come to an end someday.
- 9:08[SPEAKER_02]: You can see this microphone, and not always be a microphone.
- 9:12[SPEAKER_02]: See, it'll deteriorate and it won't be able to microphones on there.
- 9:15[SPEAKER_02]: This nice belly will not always be here.
- 9:18[SPEAKER_02]: Anything that you can see, that you can look upon, it's only temporal.
- 9:22[SPEAKER_02]: Now, it might last a year, it might last 50 years, and it might last a thousand years, but not going to last forever.
- 9:27[SPEAKER_02]: Anything that you can see is temporal.
- 9:29[SPEAKER_02]: That means it comes to an end now.
- 9:32[SPEAKER_02]: It contrasts to that which is temporal and which comes to an end in contrast to that.
- 9:37[SPEAKER_02]: It says in that verse The things that are not seen are eternal.
- 9:42[SPEAKER_02]: Now that Greek word eternal is at that same word again.
- 9:44[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know.
- 9:45[SPEAKER_02]: It's at same word all right now.
- 9:46[SPEAKER_02]: What's he saying?
- 9:48[SPEAKER_02]: He saying the thing that you can see are temporal that will last for a certain length of time But the things that you cannot see are eternal in other words.
- 9:55[SPEAKER_02]: They're gonna last forever the things that are ionious not
- 10:02[SPEAKER_02]: The things that are ionized, translated, he tunnel everlasting are the opposite in duration from anything that comes to an end.
- 10:11[SPEAKER_02]: In other words, what is ionious has no end.
- 10:14[SPEAKER_02]: The fire of hell has no end.
- 10:16[SPEAKER_02]: The punishment of hell has no end.
- 10:18[SPEAKER_02]: He turned a life has no end.
- 10:20[SPEAKER_02]: Now, do you want to know what the Bible means?
- 10:22[SPEAKER_02]: When the Bible uses this Greek word, you have it right during that verse.
- 10:26[SPEAKER_02]: I can Corinthians 4, 18.
- 10:27[SPEAKER_02]: The things that are seen are temporal, they'll come to an end, but the things that are ionious, translated everlasting, and eternal, they are the opposite.
- 10:35[SPEAKER_02]: They have no end.
- 10:37[SPEAKER_02]: For example, there are things that you cannot see.
- 10:39[SPEAKER_02]: You've never seen your soul.
- 10:40[SPEAKER_02]: But your soul's going to live on forever.
- 10:43[SPEAKER_02]: Now, the sun people don't believe you have a soul.
- 10:45[SPEAKER_02]: I remember reading one time about a very famous Christian lawyers on the train one day, and he was trying to witness to a young guy and his young guy turned out to be a smart athlete.
- 10:52[SPEAKER_02]: And this man, the lawyer, Mr. Bennett, was trying to witness this young man.
- 10:56[SPEAKER_02]: And as he talked with him, this young man said, I ain't got no soul.
- 10:59[SPEAKER_02]: He didn't have to go to grammar either.
- 11:00[SPEAKER_02]: and so that's what he said and so the lawyer said you don't have a soul and the young man said no I don't we but I have a soul and the lawyer says why is it you believe you you don't believe you have a soul Well he says young man says I've never seen my soul and I've never seen it since I've never seen it I don't believe I have it
- 11:17[SPEAKER_02]: Whoa, the lawyers said, you mean now that if you can't see it, you don't believe you have it.
- 11:23[SPEAKER_02]: That's right.
- 11:24[SPEAKER_02]: Well, he thought he had this lawyer now.
- 11:26[SPEAKER_02]: That's right.
- 11:26[SPEAKER_02]: So, if I can't see it, I don't believe I haven't.
- 11:29[SPEAKER_02]: So, the lawyer says, do you have any brains?
- 11:33[SPEAKER_02]: And
- 11:35[SPEAKER_02]: I guess young man, he may have had some brain to never see them, but he wasn't using them, that's for sure.
- 11:42[SPEAKER_01]: I'm going to ask, friend, do you trust that the Bible is true?
- 11:48[SPEAKER_01]: If so, then what must you do as a result of what you have heard today?
- 11:56[SPEAKER_01]: the message, the title, the theme, the overall title of the message that you're listening to all this week on Bible Trek Deco's is called the duration of hell, the duration of hell.
- 12:10[SPEAKER_01]: I realize hell is not a pleasant topic.
- 12:12[SPEAKER_01]: It's not something that we desire to have at the forefront of our mind all the time, but in truth,
- 12:19[SPEAKER_01]: If we thought about it a little bit more, maybe we'd be just a bit more evangelistic.
- 12:24[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe we'd care more for people's souls, or maybe if you're listening right now and you don't know Christ as your Savior, maybe he would make a decision.
- 12:34[SPEAKER_01]: In just a moment, the announcer will come on with all the ways that you can contact us if you have any questions, a comment, a critique or concern.
- 12:41[SPEAKER_01]: I would love to hear from you, please don't be afraid to reach out.

- 12:51[SPEAKER_01]: Do you have a soul?
- 12:53[SPEAKER_01]: Do you?
- 12:55[SPEAKER_01]: have a soul.
- 12:58[SPEAKER_01]: That's an interesting question that Dr. Paul Levine is going to help us answer tomorrow from the Bible.
- 13:04[SPEAKER_01]: Have a great day for his glory.
