• 0:39
  Speaker 1: I'm Don Armstrong.
• 0:40
Speaker 1: Are you talking to me?
• 0:41
Speaker 3: No, that's how much bail was.
• 0:42
Speaker 3: No, that's how much bail was.
• 0:44
Speaker 1: I'm sorry, that's Jeff Heitzman you're talking about.
• 0:46
Speaker 1: No, I'm talking about.
• 0:47
Speaker 4: Ainsley yeah, we haven't seen him.
• 0:49
Speaker 3: Yeah, we just wonder how much bail he had to pay to get out here A lot A lot, a lot, we paid it, we just don't know it yet.
• 1:02
Speaker 4: Yeah, we had to get him out.
• 1:03
  Speaker 4: All right, mr.
• 1:04
Speaker 4: Now he has this very interesting 1974 Manx Manx, is that the right?
• 1:11
Speaker 1: way to say it Myers-Manks, myers-manks, no, myers-manks made that SR2.
• 1:17
Speaker 4: Now, this is one of the only 89 left that we know of right, correct, oh my.
• 1:23
Speaker 4: God, and it is very unique and it's got a cool story to go with it.
• 1:29
Speaker 1: All right Well let's hear it.
• 1:31
Speaker 2: Yeah, we met a gentleman named Gerald Burton in Beaumont and he had this sitting in his warehouse for seven years.
• 1:40
Speaker 2: Of course they can't see it on the radio, but that's what it looked like when we found it.
• 1:47
Speaker 2: It was a mess.
• 1:48
Speaker 4: Oh yeah, stuff piled all over it.
• 1:50
Speaker 2: No, motor, no transmission, no wiring harness.
• 1:53
Speaker 2: And that is the end result after four years of love on it.
• 1:58
Speaker 2: Man Bruce Myers built these in mid-70s.
• 2:04
Speaker 2: He went bankrupt and he sold the molds to Karma Coachworks.
• 2:08
Speaker 2: And then we this is one of two, noted by Minnie Myers, that uses the molds and parts from both companies- and when you say both companies?
• 2:23
Speaker 2: Myers-banks and Karma, coachworks.
• 2:27
  Speaker 2: Oh, okay, okay.
• 2:29
Speaker 4: Which is why it looks different than the.
• 2:31
Speaker 4: It's kind of got the same features as the dune buggy that Myers made, but it's absolutely different yeah with the doors up.
• 2:39
Speaker 2: if you take doors off it'll look like a dune buggy, like that teal one down there belongs to Bruce Carlisle.
• 2:45
Speaker 2: That's an actual Myers-Manks dune buggy.
• 2:47
Speaker 2: Yeah, but the front end Tilt, front end.
• 2:50
Speaker 2: Does that back come off?
• 2:53
Speaker 2: No, the back does not come off.
• 2:55
Speaker 2: There's a tonneau cover that goes on top and they made windows for it.
• 3:01
Speaker 2: But we have the windows but not the brackets to mount the windows to the doors.
• 3:06
Speaker 2: We don't need no stink of windows and I'm running an 1835 high-performance motor in it, so it scoots pretty good.
• 3:15
Speaker 4: Well, I heard it come in and when you were coming in down there to park it and I saw the tires and stuff, I said yeah, he's not running stock.
• 3:23
Speaker 1: Is it on a VW chassis?
• 3:26
Speaker 2: It's on a shortened Vw chassis, just like the dude just like a dune buggy short, 14 inches where did you?
• 3:31
Speaker 2: Where do you shorten it?
• 3:32
Speaker 2: In the middle, right behind the shifter?
• 3:34
Speaker 2: Okay, kind of in this just in front of the, the rear axle, yeah, you shorten the shifted tube and everything yes, sir the whole thing in there and so the the motor that you're talking about, that is a Volkswagen motor.
• 3:47
Speaker 1: Yes, sir, so it's a flat four, flat four.
• 3:50
  Speaker 2: Air-cooled.
• 3:50
  Speaker 2: Air-cooled, it's running a.
• 3:53
Speaker 1: Hell, I know more about it than anybody except you.
• 3:56
  Speaker 1: He's no, I mean.
• 3:58
  Speaker 4: I'm a dune buggy fan.
• 4:00
  Speaker 4: Oh, yeah, yeah.
• 4:00
Speaker 1: I mean, that was the thing back in my era.
• 4:03
Speaker 1: Of course I'm older than most, but whatever the case may be Older than all.
• 4:07
  Speaker 4: Shut up.
• 4:09
Speaker 1: But yeah, huge fan and what a brilliant idea he had.
• 4:14
Speaker 1: And he designed a body to fit on the thing and shorten the chassis, keeping basically the same motor.
• 4:24
Speaker 1: And shorten the chassis, keeping basically the same motor.
• 4:34
Speaker 2: And I remember that the original ones.
• 4:35
Speaker 2: I think really all he did really was put headers on it, didn't he?
• 4:38
Speaker 1: On the original one he did carburation work and headers.
• 4:40
Speaker 1: No, I know, but the only thing that you could really see was the pipes.
• 4:43
Speaker 1: Yes, yeah, and everybody thought that everything about it was so cool.
• 4:45
Speaker 1: As a matter of fact, all of my Volkswagen friends back in my day, they all tried to mimic the headers coming straight out of the back, so they cut up the back of their bugs to make it work.
• 4:57
Speaker 4: That was the only way to do it.
• 4:58
Speaker 4: Yeah, they called them stingers when they stuck up like that this has got dual open pipes on it.
• 5:05
Speaker 2: Okay, and, like I said, it's running dual Solex carburetors, 120 cam HP high flow heads.
• 5:14
Speaker 2: So we just rebuilt the motor, so I really hadn't gotten on it that much to find out exactly what it will do.
• 5:23
Speaker 2: Well, the motors are pretty simple.
• 5:25
Speaker 1: I mean, volkswagen did a phenomenal job.
• 5:27
Speaker 1: I mean they made them since before World War II and really didn't change much until they went to water-cooled engines.
• 5:35
Speaker 1: But I mean, basically the engines stayed basically the same.
• 5:40
Speaker 2: Yeah, we had a problem with this motor.
• 5:42
Speaker 2: We took it out on a Tuesday night, rebuilt it Wednesday, had it back in the car Wednesday night, tuned it Thursday night and Friday night after work and drove it to our Bayer Volkswagen car show that Saturday morning after rebuilding the engine on Wednesday.
• 5:59
Speaker 1: No pipes, no doubt.
• 5:59
Speaker 1: Yes, yeah, of course that's what we do.
• 6:02
Speaker 1: Did you wake up the neighbors?
• 6:05
Speaker 2: I kind of do, but I always apologize to my neighbors ahead of time.
• 6:08
Speaker 1: I just got to say never apologize ahead of time.
• 6:10
Speaker 1: It's always better to say, oh, did I do that?
• 6:14
Speaker 1: I am so sorry I forgot those darn mufflers again.
• 6:17
Speaker 1: What am I going to do?
• 6:21
  Speaker 2: My neighbors.
• 6:21
Speaker 2: They're really good neighbors, I mean, they've helped me out a lot.
• 6:25
Speaker 1: Yeah, I just had knee surgery.
• 6:27
Speaker 1: They put up with you is what they've done, yeah.
• 6:28
Speaker 2: I had knee surgery not too long ago and he's been coming over and helping me a lot.
• 6:32
Speaker 1: Yeah, but you didn't have any problem driving it here.
• 6:35
  Speaker 2: No.
• 6:36
Speaker 1: How's the clutch knee?
• 6:38
Speaker 2: That's the one I had surgery on.
• 6:39
Speaker 1: You know it's funny how that works, isn't it?
• 6:41
Speaker 1: Yeah, all of us that drive a stick shift that left knee cap just doesn't quite work the way it used to, that's true, but the clutch is really easy on this.
• 6:52
Speaker 2: Oh yeah, it's a Volkswagen Get in it and drive it down the street if you want.
• 6:55
Speaker 1: Yeah, oh, I know I've driven a bug before.
• 6:57
Speaker 1: The shifter is like butter it is.
• 7:03
Speaker 1: I mean, everything about it is so easy.
• 7:05
Speaker 2: This one shifts real good and the gas pedal is very sensitive.
• 7:09
Speaker 1: So I guess you don't have a water temperature gauge in there, do you?
• 7:13
Speaker 2: No, you got a head temperature gauge.
• 7:16
Speaker 2: You got a head temperature gauge.
• 7:18
Speaker 2: Oil pressure, oil temperature.
• 7:19
Speaker 1: Do you know if the fan's running?
• 7:22
Speaker 2: Well, there's only one fan on it, so yes, it's got to be running.
• 7:24
Speaker 2: If the alternator's spinning the fan better be turning.
• 7:30
  Speaker 1: You hope.
• 7:31
Speaker 2: In other words, it should be overheating real quick.
• 7:33
Speaker 2: Yeah exactly Because I got all the tens on there.
• 7:36
Speaker 1: So let me ask you does everybody and their mother go?
• 7:40
  Speaker 1: What is that?
• 7:42
Speaker 1: Basically yes yeah because you can't take it anywhere.
• 7:45
Speaker 1: When I saw you pull in, I thought what the hell was that?
• 7:49
Speaker 1: I had no clue, Because I think that this is the only one I've ever seen.
• 7:56
Speaker 2: Well, supposedly it's the only one in Texas.
• 7:59
Speaker 1: Oh, there you go, bragging again.
• 8:01
Speaker 4: And it was over in Beaumont.
• 8:02
Speaker 1: You don't get over that way in my part of the world very often, oh hell, no, that's in his neck of the woods.
• 8:08
Speaker 2: We don't go there.
• 8:09
Speaker 2: Yes, we was at the Gatorfish show.
• 8:10
Speaker 4: Ah, there you go.
• 8:12
Speaker 2: And then we were doing the harvest Do you live over there.
• 8:16
Speaker 2: No, I live in Pastino.
• 8:18
  Speaker 1: That's past a get-down.
• 8:26
Speaker 3: Dina sir, I'm sorry.
• 8:26
Speaker 3: Sorry, I'm sure respect my elders, I'm sorry.
• 8:27
Speaker 1: Thank you, that's right, that's right and you know, and you know, with age is knowledge so well, I just turned 65, so kid kids yeah today today, kids oh, happy birthday thank you well take them out to top water for lunch.

• 8:45
  Speaker 2: Got what Five?
• 8:47
  Speaker 2: What Oddball cars.
• 8:48
Speaker 1: Oddballs Is that the name of the car club?
• 8:51
Speaker 2: No, it's Bay Area Volkswagen.

• 9:13
Speaker 1: No guy that was in any kind of car group ever took minutes of anything Ever.
• 9:18
Speaker 1: He got that I'll never forget my first car club meeting way back in the dark ages.
• 9:24
Speaker 1: Well, our minute taker today is I'm going what?
• 9:28
Speaker 1: Taking minutes at a car club meeting.
• 9:31
  Speaker 1: Why?
• 9:32
Speaker 4: Yeah, they were going by how much grain the horses were eating while they were installing.
• 9:38
  Speaker 2: There's that.
• 9:39
  Speaker 1: Shut up.
• 9:40
Speaker 2: I thought it was a hammer and chisel and a stone.
• 9:43
Speaker 4: That's what took them so long.
• 9:44
Speaker 1: That's right, my first name is Fred.
• 9:45
Speaker 1: Yeah, and you got the car with the open floorboards, absolutely.
• 9:50
Speaker 1: My two feet, that's the power plant.
• 9:53
Speaker 2: Wait a couple years until you see our other ones up here.
• 9:55
Speaker 2: Okay, are they all here?
• 9:56
Speaker 2: No, we only got one up here, okay, but the other two are just as odd as this one.
• 10:03
Speaker 1: Well, can you fill me in on the oddity A?
• 10:05
Speaker 2: teaser A 1970 1969 Bremen Mini Mark II.

• 10:14
Speaker 4: Heard of the Mini Mark and a 1977 Sterling SLG 35.
• 10:19
Speaker 2: I've heard of Sterlings, of sterlings.
• 10:31
Speaker 2: Um, the question that I have for you, sir, is do you have any?
• 10:33
  Speaker 2: Uh, carmen guillas?
• 10:34
  Speaker 2: I have a 74 carmen guilla.

  Speaker 2: No, I have a 74 aquapoco thing.
• 10:39
Speaker 2: You got a thing I got it.
• 10:41
Speaker 1: It hasn't rusted away to nothing yet.
• 10:43
  Speaker 2: It's there now.
• 10:44
  Speaker 2: That's why I'm restoring it.
• 10:46
  Speaker 4: It's rusted away.
• 10:46
Speaker 4: It's working on it.
• 10:48
Speaker 2: It's found behind a garage underneath a pine tree.
• 10:54
Speaker 1: Is there a thing down there?
• 10:56
  Speaker 1: Yes, there is.
• 10:56
  Speaker 1: I thought I saw one.
• 10:57

• 11:02
Speaker 1: What in the world is that?
• 11:03
  Speaker 1: I said it's a thing.
• 11:03
  Speaker 1: A what A thing?
• 11:07
  Speaker 1: Where's the thing?
• 11:08
Speaker 4: That is the thing, Well.
• 11:13
  Speaker 1: Acapulco.
• 11:14
Speaker 1: They only made 400 of them.
• 11:19
Speaker 2: How did you become a VW?
• 11:20
  Speaker 1: fanatic.
• 11:20
Speaker 1: That thing, that, thing, the thing, that's not a thing.
• 11:22
Speaker 2: Well, no, the Bremen is a thing base.
• 11:25
  Speaker 2: It's a Volkswagen-based car.
• 11:27
Speaker 2: All of our cars are Volkswagen-based.
• 11:31
Speaker 2: And you didn't even get the accent.
• 11:35
  Speaker 2: No, I had a Fiat.
• 11:37
Speaker 2: I don't think that counts, yeah, but it was an Auto Bianchi B&K in a Transformable.
• 11:42
  Speaker 1: Oh.
• 11:42
Speaker 2: God, which you could probably park it on this table.
• 11:45
  Speaker 2: It's that small.
• 11:47
Speaker 1: Great, and you're not a small guy.
• 11:48
Speaker 1: Could you fit in it?
• 11:50
Speaker 1: Yes, yeah, yeah, one of those monster kind of things.
• 11:57
Speaker 2: Yeah, if you saw a picture of it while I'm driving it you see, this much over the windshield Gotcha.
• 12:04
Speaker 1: Well, I will tell you that you've done a fine job there.
• 12:08
Speaker 1: What kind of wheels are those?
• 12:10
Speaker 2: Center line wheels front and back.
• 12:11
Speaker 2: Why did you choose those?
• 12:14
Speaker 1: They were on the car when I bought it.
• 12:15
Speaker 1: Oh really, they look brand new, of course, you polished them all up.
• 12:19
Speaker 1: Of course you have to polish them, yeah.
• 12:23
  Speaker 2: Okay.
• 12:24
Speaker 1: I assume that they don't make those center lines anymore.
• 12:26
  Speaker 2: They still do.
• 12:27
  Speaker 2: They do.
• 12:27
Speaker 2: It's hard to find them.
• 12:29
Speaker 2: Those are a five-bolt Chevy pattern.
• 12:34
Speaker 4: So you got the adapters.
• 12:35
Speaker 2: I got the adapters on there I just put front disc brakes on the car a couple weeks ago.
• 12:39
Speaker 1: Because originally it was all drums all around.
• 12:41
Speaker 2: Yes, sir, four-bolt drums.
• 12:44
Speaker 1: So what's underneath the tilt hood?
• 12:46
  Speaker 1: The gas tank.
• 12:48
Speaker 1: Okay, just like in a VW, 10-gallon gas tank and storage for my two chairs.
• 12:54
  Speaker 4: Where's the filler?
• 12:54
Speaker 4: Is it underneath the lid?
• 12:55
Speaker 4: Yeah, you've got to lift the hood.
• 12:58
Speaker 2: Lift the hood and the filler's up underneath it.
• 12:59
Speaker 2: Had to get a modified gas tank to make it fit underneath the low deck height of the space that's in there.
• 13:09
Speaker 2: Did it originally come with that?
• 13:11
Speaker 2: The original gas tank was modified.
• 13:13
Speaker 2: It was up in the top left-hand corner passenger side, Almost like under the dash.
• 13:21
Speaker 1: Yeah, I know they have them.
• 13:22
  Speaker 2: Not yet.
• 13:23
Speaker 2: We would love to go, but as of yet they have little.
• 13:30
Speaker 2: Every once in a while they travel to different states.
• 13:34
Speaker 2: Yeah, and they had one in Texas here a couple years ago, but we was not able to make it.
• 13:39
Speaker 1: Okay, well, hopefully next time you can, hopefully I can.
• 13:42
Speaker 1: Well, it's a pleasure to talk to you.

• 16:55
Speaker 3: Well, is it really San Leon?
• 16:57
Speaker 3: Let's talk about that.
• 16:58
Speaker 3: Well, it's spelled that way San.
• 17:00
Speaker 3: Leon has a rich and varied history and here's some highlights.
• 17:03
Speaker 3: This area was settled first settled by Amos Edwards and his family in 1928, after a Mexican government opened up the Texas Tidelands to Angelo colonization Anglo colonization.
• 17:17
  Speaker 4: Angelo, angelo and.
• 17:19
Speaker 3: Anglo Angelo and Anglo.
• 17:21
Speaker 3: During the 19th century, a pirate named Jean Lafitte Jean Lafitte, not Jean Lafitte.
• 17:25
Speaker 3: Jean Lafitte established a strongitte, not Jean Lafitte.
• 17:27
Speaker 3: Jean Lafitte established a stronghold at Eagle Point in modern San Leon.
• 17:32
Speaker 3: This area became an important shipping and trading post town.
• 17:36
Speaker 3: In 1837, william Gaines, monroe, edwards they all plotted a town site here called San Leon.
• 17:43
Speaker 3: Invited investors to develop the town.
• 17:45
Speaker 3: It's an agricultural hub.
• 17:47
Speaker 3: Invited investors to develop the town.
• 17:48
Speaker 3: It's an agricultural hub.
• 17:48
Speaker 3: In the 20th century, san Leon became known for its fig and citrus orchards.
• 17:52
Speaker 3: All that, however, the Great Depression and freezing temperatures significantly impacted the production.
• 17:57
Speaker 3: In the modern era, a Houston businessman named Joe Eagle purchased the ghost town of North Galveston and renamed it San Leon.
• 18:06
Speaker 3: He initiated several developments, including renovation of the hotel and construction of a drawbridge and school.
• 18:12
Speaker 3: Some of the points.
• 18:14
Speaker 3: The historic site was once a stronghold for the pirate, as we talked about, a popular spot for fishing and scenic views of Galveston Bay.
• 18:21
Speaker 3: So, making a long story short here, he was a pirate, he was an entrepreneur, and Jean and his brother Dick no, no, no, his brother is in here somewhere.
• 18:33
Speaker 3: And he's got a brother and he's got a sister named Sticky Lafitte.
• 18:38
Speaker 1: And he went by the nickname of Smelly Smelly.
• 18:43
Speaker 3: Pierre Lafitte is his brother's name.
• 18:44
Speaker 3: It was on the other page, so they had a profitable smuggling area around here and that's where we're at.
• 18:51
  Speaker 3: We're in San.
• 18:52
Speaker 1: Leon, we're smuggling booze down here, there you go.
• 18:58
Speaker 3: Happy smuggling, you pirates.
• 19:01
  Speaker 1: Arr, matey, arr.
• 19:05
Speaker 3: You know, this is like herding cats today.
• 19:08
Speaker 4: I don't know if I can follow Mars.
• 19:09
Speaker 4: You know every time.
• 19:12
Speaker 1: It's your time to talk all I can say is here.
• 19:15
Speaker 1: You are out here in the back doing something.
• 19:19
Speaker 3: Every time it's his turn, he's gone, he's gone.
• 19:20
Speaker 3: I'm here, I'm ready, but it's not your turn.
• 19:23
Speaker 3: Oh, it is now.
• 19:24
Speaker 3: Well, I'll be back, all right.
• 19:26
Speaker 1: Time now for this hour's car review.
• 19:27
Speaker 1: Mr Mars drove the 2024 Kia Telluride and they're sorry.
• 19:31
Speaker 4: Now let me tell you this this is the Kia Telluride SX, prestige, x-pro, v6, all-wheel drive.
• 19:40
Speaker 4: That's the official title and that's all the time you got.
• 19:42
Speaker 4: So there's actually five trim levels an LX, an S, an EX, an SX and the SX Prestige.
• 19:48
  Speaker 1: There's too much.
• 19:49
Speaker 4: But there are X-Line and Pro-Line versions, which adds three more trim levels.
• 19:54
Speaker 4: So there's a lot of choices here.
• 19:56
Speaker 4: We were driving the SX again, the Prestige, which is the top of the line with the all-wheel drive which on the Prestige trim level that's a standard feature.
• 20:05
Speaker 4: It's got gloss black trim across it, led projection headlights.
• 20:09
Speaker 4: Got distinctive X Pro grill that's different from the other tellurides.
• 20:13
Speaker 4: Got X Pro roof rails, which means they're a little bit higher, so the crossbars you can put a little more stuff up there.
• 20:19
  Speaker 4: There's a little more clearance.
• 20:20
Speaker 4: Got power folding, heated outside mirrors.
• 20:22
Speaker 4: Got a power liftgate, dual sunroof not moon roofs but sunroofs, not moonroofs but sunroofs.
• 20:28
Speaker 4: It had the X-Pro specific to the X-Pro trim level, 18-inch black alloy wheels.
• 20:33
Speaker 4: So we got a lot of black trim on the exterior of this vehicle, black trim.
• 20:36
Speaker 4: Now we go to the interior.
• 20:37
Speaker 4: We're looking at Napa leather seating.
• 20:39
Speaker 4: The front seats are heated and ventilated.
• 20:40
Speaker 4: The second row captain's chairs on this particular vehicle are also heated and ventilated.
• 20:45
Speaker 4: Got some dual 12.3 inch displays.
• 20:48
Speaker 4: Got a heads-up display to go along with that, so there's driver.
• 20:50
Speaker 4: Got plenty of information on convenience controls, what the car is doing, what the highway is doing, all kinds of stuff.
• 20:56
Speaker 4: Now for tech it's got in addition to these it's got a wireless phone charger.
• 21:02
Speaker 4: It's got a digital rear view mirror.
• 21:04
Speaker 4: It's got a surround view monitor.
• 21:05
Speaker 4: It got apple carplay and android auto.
• 21:06
Speaker 4: So it's got a digital rear view mirror.
• 21:07
Speaker 4: It's got a surround view monitor.
• 21:07
Speaker 4: It's got Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
• 21:09
Speaker 1: You were talking about monitors.
• 21:10
Speaker 1: I think we saw an ankle monitor go by a minute ago, just saying.
• 21:17
  Speaker 4: I missed it.
• 21:18
Speaker 1: Well, I'm going to go try to find it.
• 21:19
Speaker 4: It wasn't mine was it.
• 21:20
Speaker 4: So it also had the Harman Kardon Premium Auto, which is a really nice setup and the thing I liked about it with all this tech, it had easy to reach controls.
• 21:34
Speaker 4: You could reach it easily from where I was sitting and it was easy to find, and I really liked that part of it.
• 21:36
Speaker 4: Now, up under the hood we had a 3.8 liter v6, 291 horsepower, 262 pound-feet of torque with a eight-speed automatic.
• 21:42
Speaker 4: This is not a race, but this is a nice got plenty of power for the family vehicle that it is.
• 21:48
Speaker 4: It will tow 5,500 pounds.
• 21:50
Speaker 4: As we were driving it, 5,000 pounds is on the standard vehicle, so we picked up a little extra with the package we had.
• 21:56
Speaker 4: Epa says you should get 18 in the city, you should get 24 on the highway and 20 combined.
• 22:03
Speaker 4: Now I actually got the 18 combined across the week that I had it, so we had a little bit more driving in town, but it was a I didn't have a problem with.
• 22:15
Speaker 4: I thought it was great actually, for the size of vehicle I was driving.
• 22:17
Speaker 4: It does have a firm ride.
• 22:19
Speaker 4: Due to the expo off-road suspension that we had the tuning on.
• 22:22
Speaker 4: It's a little bit different, but it also firms it up a little bit more for cornering it doesn't.
• 22:27
Speaker 4: It's not quite as soft going in the corner.
• 22:29
Speaker 4: Again, this is not a race car by any means, but it does also have a very quiet cabin space.
• 22:35
Speaker 4: You know there's there's not a lot of road noise, a lot of tire noise, and so it makes the audio sound really cool.
• 22:41
  Speaker 4: Now, this vehicle.
• 22:43
Speaker 4: The base model price on this vehicle is $37,355.
• 22:46
Speaker 4: Base trim trim price again top of the line $53,185.
• 22:52
Speaker 4: A couple of little options and delivery charges $55,540 is the MSRP Wow.
• 22:59
Speaker 4: And it does have the 10-year 100,000-mile warranty on it.
• 23:02
Speaker 4: Now, if you're looking for something to compare it to a Honda Pilot $37,090 is the starting point on it.
• 23:09
Speaker 4: A Hyundai Palisade $36,650 for the starting point.
• 23:15
Speaker 4: Again, these are baseline numbers.
• 23:17
Speaker 4: Mazda CX-90 starts at $37,845 for the base trim.
• 23:22
Speaker 4: So they're all right there in that trim level, in that sweet spot, depending on what kind of features you want and what your expectation is in regard to it.
• 23:29
Speaker 4: But if you're looking for that particular level of vehicle in that segment, then you absolutely should look at this as one of your considerations, particularly considering the warranty that comes along with it.
• 23:41
  Speaker 3: Yeah, that's a plus.
• 23:43
Speaker 1: That isn't the only thing you should be looking at today.
• 23:46
Speaker 4: Well, I was trying to look, but I couldn't see where your ankle monitor went.
• 23:53
  Speaker 1: Well, I can't.
• 23:58
  Speaker 4: All right.
• 23:59
Speaker 4: So, Jeff, how are you?
• 24:02
  Speaker 3: I'm good sir.
• 24:04
Speaker 4: Good, good, good, so all right?
• 24:09
Speaker 1: Did you want me to do something?
• 24:11
Speaker 4: No, I did not want you to do anything.
• 24:14
Speaker 1: You want me to shut up and move on.
• 24:15
Speaker 3: Well, we're coming up on a break here in about two minutes.
• 24:18
Speaker 4: Yeah well, whatever AJ's there, we can slip AJ in here.
• 24:21
Speaker 1: Well, here let me do this story because that may be fitting Lower income households had the largest increase in monthly, maybe not what?
• 24:42
Speaker 4: Take his bottle of water away from him.
• 24:48
Speaker 4: Let's go to break.
• 24:48
Speaker 4: I can only do so much editing.
• 24:50
Speaker 1: Let's go to break, no you're not going to do any editing.
• 24:52
Speaker 1: No, this is all going to stay in there.
• 24:54
Speaker 1: Because, I want to play it back and I want to enjoy this all over again.
• 25:00
Speaker 4: Yeah, you're going to.
• 25:01
Speaker 1: From the very top of the show, because it's been a disaster from the very get-go.
• 25:07
Speaker 3: Videos, mixed up, all kinds of stuff.
• 25:09
  Speaker 3: It's great.
• 25:11
Speaker 4: Nowhere else Do you have a tissue for my tears.
• 25:13
Speaker 1: I mean, I'm really laughing Crocodile tears.
• 25:16
  Speaker 1: Yeah, that's it.
• 25:17
Speaker 1: I was going to start this story and I think that let's see, I'm going to do it.
• 25:24
Speaker 1: Lower income households had the largest increase in monthly auto loan payments after years of high car prices and interest rates.
• 25:30
Speaker 1: According to a new report from the Bank of America Institute, new and used car prices rose significantly in 2021 and 2022.
• 25:38
Speaker 1: And the average 60-month auto loan interest rate has increased since early 2022.
• 25:45
Speaker 1: Both have begun to normalize, but customers who purchase vehicles during the height of inventory shortages are still feeling the strain.
• 25:51
Speaker 1: Lower-income households seem to be feeling the strain the most.
• 25:55
Speaker 1: In 2019, 63% of those car owners paid less than $500 a month for their car, but since then, the group's median auto loan payment increased by 34%.
• 26:05
  Speaker 1: Wow.
• 26:06
Speaker 1: In the first eight months of 2024, roughly 60% of lower-income households paid more than $500 a month.
• 26:15
  Speaker 1: So there's that.
• 26:16
  Speaker 3: Oh boy.
• 26:17
Speaker 1: All right Now that I've regained my composure.
• 26:22
Speaker 4: Before we go too far.
• 26:22
  Speaker 4: What is it?
• 26:22
Speaker 4: I told him, he my composure.
• 26:23
Speaker 4: Before we go too far.
• 26:23
  Speaker 1: What is it?
• 26:24
Speaker 4: I told him he better sit down here before we get too far carried away.
