- 0:14Speaker 1: Batman and Maman, Maman and bad Man Betweening and Madman,
- 0:56Speaker 1: Betweening and Mathman.
- 1:36Speaker 2: All right, good morning, gang, it is yes, just like
- 1:41Speaker 2: Linda just said, a snowy, snowy morning. We have a
- 1:44Speaker 2: winter weather advisory until ten pm tonight for another two
- 1:51Speaker 2: to four inches falling today, blowing and drifting snow. They're
- 1:55Speaker 2: saying after four o'clock mainly that's when the winds are
- 1:58Speaker 2: going to be picking up, so be careful, Please be
- 2:02Speaker 2: careful driving. They're saying six inches total snowfall between what
- 2:08Speaker 2: we got last night and by late tonight, so just
- 2:11Speaker 2: be careful out on the roads. Eighty nine northbound and
- 2:14Speaker 2: southbound both this morning near Milton, got a couple of
- 2:18Speaker 2: pretty good crashes and some slow moving traffic in that area.
- 2:22Speaker 2: Please avoid it if you can. Eighty nine southbound in
- 2:25Speaker 2: West leb The right lane is closed because of a
- 2:30Speaker 2: crash in that area. I think that's kind of right
- 2:32Speaker 2: near the right near the line there, right near the bridge.
- 2:35Speaker 2: And then Route sixty six in Randolph, just off Exit four.
- 2:40Speaker 2: I'm not sure if they've cleared that one up yet.
- 2:42Speaker 2: That was quite a while ago, right near McDonald's. So again,
- 2:46Speaker 2: go easy. We're looking at thirty two degrees later on
- 2:49Speaker 2: today for the daytime high. Some clouds, some snow, and
- 2:53Speaker 2: again the wind's going to be picking up late this afternoon,
- 2:56Speaker 2: blown around anywhere from twenty to forty miles per hour,
- 3:00Speaker 2: so blowing and drifting snow, poor visibility, and some of
- 3:04Speaker 2: these snow cells, for lack of a better term, I
- 3:08Speaker 2: don't know what the hell I'm talking about, snow cells.
- 3:10Speaker 2: I'm not a meteorologist. Whatever. These bursts of heavy snow,
- 3:14Speaker 2: snow squalls, whatever you want to call them, isolated, so
- 3:18Speaker 2: kind of depends on where the hell you are. It
- 3:22Speaker 2: could be pretty intense for a short period of times.
- 3:24Speaker 2: So just go easy, drive carefully today and be careful.
- 3:30Speaker 2: JT is with us live over at du Priests. What's
- 3:34Speaker 2: going on, Buddy?
- 3:36Speaker 3: Going on?
- 3:36Speaker 4: Brother?
- 3:37Speaker 5: Man?
- 3:37Speaker 4: How you doing today?
- 3:38Speaker 6: Uh?
- 3:38Speaker 2: I can only imagine how busy you are? Man? What's
- 3:41Speaker 2: going on?
- 3:42Speaker 4: I mean, it's not too crazy. I've definitely had worse days.
- 3:46Speaker 4: I've only been out of since about four point thirty this.
- 3:48Speaker 7: Morning, so nothing too intense. A couple accidents here and there,
- 3:53Speaker 7: you know there others slimy and people aren't slowing down,
- 3:55Speaker 7: so that's good for business.
- 3:56Speaker 2: I suppose yeah, over near your area. Just heard exit
- 4:01Speaker 2: four RIDD sixty six there in Randolph'm not sure if
- 4:05Speaker 2: that one's cleared up yet. You have any ideas on that.
- 4:09Speaker 7: I mean, it really depends on which accident because there's
- 4:12Speaker 7: been a few.
- 4:13Speaker 4: There's been a few there this morning. Okay, so it
- 4:16Speaker 4: could be cleared up, but I'm not sure.
- 4:18Speaker 7: I know, I've done a couple of racks down in
- 4:21Speaker 7: White River, a couple of Sharon, I'm actually headed to
- 4:24Speaker 7: one over in Palm for it right now.
- 4:26Speaker 2: All right, eighty nine southbound near West Lab The right
- 4:32Speaker 2: lane is closed there. I guess that's right near the bridge.
- 4:35Speaker 4: Yeah, that should be cleared now.
- 4:37Speaker 7: Car's ounce bounced off the guardrails, but yeah, that should
- 4:41Speaker 7: be clear by now.
- 4:42Speaker 2: All right. Are you seeing everybody driving super responsibly this morning?
- 4:49Speaker 4: Absolutely not. Yeah, of course, you know everybody thinks.
- 4:53Speaker 7: Everybody thinks that when we get baxed no storms, oh
- 4:55Speaker 7: to companies love it when we get biged those storms.
- 4:57Speaker 4: He's like two steet of snow that.
- 4:58Speaker 7: No, everybody to two feet snowstorm because it's all everybody
- 5:02Speaker 7: talks about. So when we get hit with a big storm,
- 5:04Speaker 7: everybody's home, schools, closed, some.
- 5:06Speaker 4: Jobs closed for the day.
- 5:08Speaker 7: You know it's these little storms where nobody really believes
- 5:12Speaker 7: the weather, or you know, we only get a dusting
- 5:16Speaker 7: and it goes.
- 5:16Speaker 4: Oh you know, I'm gonna do one hundred miles an hour.
- 5:18Speaker 7: I've got all wheel drive, my all season tires, and
- 5:22Speaker 7: you know everybody always wrecks.
- 5:24Speaker 4: I mean it's just yeah, yeah.
- 5:27Speaker 2: Would you rather have two wheel drive with snow tires
- 5:30Speaker 2: or would you have rather have all wheel drive with uh,
- 5:35Speaker 2: with all season.
- 5:36Speaker 4: Tires, oh winter tires.
- 5:37Speaker 7: A two wheel drive is way better than all will
- 5:40Speaker 7: drive with all season tires.
- 5:42Speaker 2: Interesting, I think, uh, you know, drive carefully, slow the
- 5:46Speaker 2: hell down, stay the hell off your cell phone too, right.
- 5:50Speaker 7: I mean, nlets you want to support your local to
- 5:51Speaker 7: company by all means, this is true.
- 5:55Speaker 4: To say no the money.
- 5:57Speaker 2: Yeah listen, I appreciate you checking the US so much. Man,
- 6:01Speaker 2: Thanks buddy, Yeah yeah, all right, love you too. Over
- 6:04Speaker 2: and out JT Over at Duprees Towing. Hey. Today is
- 6:09Speaker 2: Vermont's tenth annual Mental Health Advocacy Day. It started at
- 6:16Speaker 2: eight o'clock this morning, goes to four o'clock this afternoon.
- 6:19Speaker 2: Morning sessions taking place virtually or in person at the
- 6:22Speaker 2: Vermont Supreme Courthouse, auditorium panels, awards, inspiring recovery stories, and
- 6:28Speaker 2: so much more. The afternoon continues at the State House
- 6:31Speaker 2: with legislative meetings, testimony recognition by the House of Representatives,
- 6:38Speaker 2: and it is going to be a big discussion about
- 6:43Speaker 2: Medicaid rates, enhancing crisis services, and strengthening support for children, families,
- 6:50Speaker 2: and older Vermonors. A lot to be said in that department,
- 6:56Speaker 2: which brings me into the FBQ this morning. The Facebook
- 6:58Speaker 2: question of the today, what did you think of the
- 7:00Speaker 2: governor's budget address yesterday? Were you surprised that healthcare wasn't
- 7:05Speaker 2: brought into it? So please weigh in. We want to
- 7:07Speaker 2: hear what you have to say. Birthdays this morning. Little
- 7:12Speaker 2: Henry turned four years old yesterday. Happy birthday from your dad,
- 7:20Speaker 2: James Farnham, Little Henry four years old. Cody Blake also
- 7:24Speaker 2: in the list today sunset of McAllister, Jim Condos, Happy
- 7:28Speaker 2: birthday Jim, Samantha Donahue, Betsy Stanford, Kelsey Bourne and Jane
- 7:35Speaker 2: Tremblee Sequest all in the birthday list today. Wow, do
- 7:40Speaker 2: we have a lot to talk about? Why do we
- 7:42Speaker 2: have a lot to get to this morning I'll say
- 7:46Speaker 2: it again, and I know I've already said it, but
- 7:48Speaker 2: please exercise as much caution as possible this morning. If
- 7:53Speaker 2: you are out on the roads, it is greasy in
- 7:56Speaker 2: some spots and greasy error in others. So go easy,
- 8:01Speaker 2: take it, take it slow, and even if you're running
- 8:04Speaker 2: a few minutes late, it's better to be late and safe.
- 8:11Speaker 2: I don't even know where to begin this morning. This
- 8:14Speaker 2: lady that is sitting right across from me right now,
- 8:16Speaker 2: Brandy Carlton, the staff performance analyst with the VT Coyotes,
- 8:21Speaker 2: Good morning and welcome.
- 8:23Speaker 6: Good morning, Thank you. I'm so excited to be here.
- 8:25Speaker 2: I'm thrilled to have you here. Anthony was running a
- 8:29Speaker 2: little late, by the way, I will be picking on
- 8:33Speaker 2: Anthony a little bit this morning.
- 8:34Speaker 6: I will enjoy that so much.
- 8:36Speaker 2: Will you? Will you?
- 8:36Speaker 6: Yes?
- 8:37Speaker 2: Will will you help me bang that drump right too?
- 8:41Speaker 2: You know that sounds good. We have a lot to
- 8:45Speaker 2: talk about, a lot to get to, but before too
- 8:49Speaker 2: much more time slips by, I want to get to
- 8:54Speaker 2: a guy that is standing by and would I would
- 8:58Speaker 2: love to have him on the air with us. The
- 9:02Speaker 2: Milton High School basketball player Dominic Barcombe, who suffered a
- 9:11Speaker 2: cardiac arrest right here in Barry, uh not too long ago,
- 9:17Speaker 2: and he is with us live right now. Good morning, buddy,
- 9:21Speaker 2: How are.
- 9:21Speaker 8: You, Marian? I'm good man.
- 9:24Speaker 2: How are you? How are you feeling?
- 9:26Speaker 3: Talk to me, Man, I'm feeling good. It's yeah, I'm
- 9:34Speaker 3: feeling good. It's definitely.
- 9:39Speaker 8: Definitely we are not being used like my left arm
- 9:44Speaker 8: as much, but definitely.
- 9:48Speaker 2: What what happened up at the at the Berry Auditorium?
- 9:52Speaker 2: Tell me, tell me what what the experience was for you.
- 10:00Speaker 3: Well, we got to school and the game started like
- 10:05Speaker 3: fifteen minutes, like as we got there started, we had
- 10:08Speaker 3: like fifteen minutes warm up and whatever and change. So
- 10:13Speaker 3: we're warming up everything. I feel fine. I feel perfectly fine.
- 10:19Speaker 3: Then I get subbed in four minutes into the game
- 10:26Speaker 3: and I still feel fine. I get the ball from
- 10:31Speaker 3: a from my teammate. I bring it down the court.
- 10:36Speaker 3: I make a pass and my visions went blurry, like
- 10:41Speaker 3: everything went blurry.
- 10:44Speaker 8: So I'm thinking like maybe I'm dehydrated or something. And
- 10:49Speaker 8: then like once it all goes.
- 10:53Speaker 3: Blurry, I turn around run to my bench and tell
- 10:57Speaker 3: coach to give me a sub I mean sit down
- 11:00Speaker 3: for a minute.
- 11:02Speaker 8: And then before I even got to the bench like
- 11:08Speaker 8: I could, like I was, that's my collapse. I didn't
- 11:12Speaker 8: even get to the bench and that I collapsed.
- 11:15Speaker 2: And yeah, like I don't know, that's crazy, crazy stuff,
- 11:28Speaker 2: especially a young guy like you. How old are you?
- 11:34Speaker 2: I'm sixteen, sixteen years old? What what what happened after that?
- 11:41Speaker 2: You you blacked out?
- 11:46Speaker 8: After I blacked out?
- 11:48Speaker 3: Uh, they the athletic trainer came over and gave me
- 11:54Speaker 3: a CPR, trying to get me back that way, And
- 11:59Speaker 3: they got me back for a few seconds, is what
- 12:02Speaker 3: I was told, and then I went out again. And
- 12:08Speaker 3: then that's when they actually get the defibrillator and shock me.
- 12:15Speaker 2: But what do you remember after that?
- 12:20Speaker 8: I remember almost like I remember everything after that, but like.
- 12:26Speaker 3: Other than yeah, I kind of m from a right
- 12:30Speaker 3: like everything I wasn't like I wasn't a delusional or
- 12:36Speaker 3: like hallucinating or anything.
- 12:41Speaker 2: Were they doing CPR on you?
- 12:44Speaker 8: Yeah?
- 12:45Speaker 3: And then once they once they got me, once they
- 12:48Speaker 3: got me back from the defibrillator, they like I was fine,
- 12:52Speaker 3: I was perfectly fine, but once I like originally collapsed,
- 12:58Speaker 3: they did CPR.
- 13:03Speaker 2: Wow. Yeah, every year, about one hundred to one hundred
- 13:08Speaker 2: and fifty young athletes in the United States die from
- 13:11Speaker 2: sudden cardiac arrest. Really yeah, really undiagnosed hard conditions. What
- 13:20Speaker 2: did they What did they tell you? Do you have?
- 13:24Speaker 2: Do you have? Do you have something going on? Are
- 13:27Speaker 2: you going to be able to continue to play hoop?
- 13:30Speaker 3: I yeah, they said I'll be able to play basketball and.
- 13:37Speaker 8: Frisbee, which is my other sport I like to play.
- 13:40Speaker 8: But they said I they said, I have like my
- 13:44Speaker 8: tomic dish refigue.
- 13:46Speaker 2: Okay, this, uh you said, you're sixteen years old. Yeah,
- 13:56Speaker 2: this is obviously going to be something that is going
- 14:00Speaker 2: to shape the rest of your life, buddy. Yeah, I
- 14:09Speaker 2: mean especially for you know, you've got your whole life
- 14:13Speaker 2: ahead of you, my man, and I'm sure this is
- 14:17Speaker 2: your You're going to be not only a great athlete,
- 14:22Speaker 2: but also a great spokesperson for promoting the importance of
- 14:30Speaker 2: learning CPR and eating well, taking good care of yourself,
- 14:35Speaker 2: but also, you know, just being prepared. You never know
- 14:40Speaker 2: who's walking around with a heart issue. I mean, we
- 14:42Speaker 2: certainly didn't know that it was a young sixteen year
- 14:46Speaker 2: old athlete who's in great shape playing high school hoop
- 14:49Speaker 2: for Milton.
- 14:51Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 14:54Speaker 2: How's your mom dealing with this? How are your parents coping.
- 15:02Speaker 3: My dad's deathitly, my dad is like he's dealing with
- 15:08Speaker 3: it with it better than you know he was before,
- 15:11Speaker 3: but he's.
- 15:12Speaker 9: Still like, like, I don't know, he's trying not to
- 15:18Speaker 9: be baby me, I guess, but he's just really nervous,
- 15:22Speaker 9: and because he always says like I'm the only thing
- 15:25Speaker 9: that like.
- 15:27Speaker 3: Really matters to him in life, like he did if
- 15:29Speaker 3: anything bad happens to me, he doesn't like like he says,
- 15:35Speaker 3: he says, if anything were to happened to me, like
- 15:38Speaker 3: if I were to passed away, he said, he doesn't know,
- 15:41Speaker 3: like how how his life would have, like you know,
- 15:47Speaker 3: and then Mom it's like treating me how she normally
- 15:54Speaker 3: would because I mean, I'm fine with how.
- 15:57Speaker 9: They both treat me, but I'm streaming like trying not
- 16:01Speaker 9: to baby me as much as dad is.
- 16:03Speaker 2: But man, I got a little ten year old girl
- 16:07Speaker 2: at home, so I can certainly relate to your dad's
- 16:11Speaker 2: sentiment there big time. Ah, what are you I mean,
- 16:18Speaker 2: I'm assuming that you're going to be playing hoop. I'm
- 16:23Speaker 2: assuming that you're going to have a great rest of
- 16:26Speaker 2: your school year. I'm assuming that you're going to be
- 16:30Speaker 2: recognized with the Vermont Coyotes. Yeah, when they get when
- 16:36Speaker 2: they get their season started.
- 16:39Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 16:42Speaker 2: There's a lot of heroes, man, that that have given
- 16:45Speaker 2: you your life back.
- 16:47Speaker 8: Yeah, it is. There's a lot.
- 16:52Speaker 2: And you know, I see that Invisible Productions came over
- 16:59Speaker 2: and shot a little uh documentary on you that is
- 17:03Speaker 2: going to be released February third, if I'm not mistaken,
- 17:10Speaker 2: What did you think of that experience with with Anthony
- 17:13Speaker 2: getting over there and getting a camera and telling you
- 17:15Speaker 2: to do this and do that.
- 17:20Speaker 3: I thought it was I thought it was really cool
- 17:23Speaker 3: and it's I really appreciate that, and they're trying to
- 17:33Speaker 3: still do more for me. I didn't I didn't think
- 17:39Speaker 3: this happened to me with like all this would happen.
- 17:45Speaker 8: Something. It's just crazy, Like I don't know how to
- 17:53Speaker 8: explain it.
- 17:54Speaker 2: Well, it it rattled you, it rattled your family, it
- 17:59Speaker 2: rattled your community. But it also brought about some great
- 18:05Speaker 2: awareness of thinking quickly, responding quickly, reacting quickly, and having
- 18:12Speaker 2: the knowledge of what to do and what to do fast.
- 18:18Speaker 2: And there's there's a good number of heroes that jumped
- 18:22Speaker 2: into action and literally saved your life buddy, right out
- 18:25Speaker 2: there on the on the court. I mean, this is uh,
- 18:29Speaker 2: this is this was quite a story. I mean this
- 18:32Speaker 2: reverberated throughout the whole state and beyond quickly. You're a hero,
- 18:38Speaker 2: my man. And listen, I can't wait to meet you.
- 18:42Speaker 2: I look forward to it. We're gonna get you out
- 18:45Speaker 2: on the on the hardwood up at the Burry Auditorium
- 18:48Speaker 2: again on a very special occasion when the VT Coyotes
- 18:53Speaker 2: are out there and that team's gonna throw some big
- 18:56Speaker 2: love your way, my man.
- 18:59Speaker 8: Yeah, look for me and you and.
- 19:03Speaker 3: Hopefully winning that game and all and meeting the eachdies.
- 19:09Speaker 2: Yeah, can't wait. Brother. Let me tell you that whole
- 19:12Speaker 2: entire team is going to know your story, trust me. Yeah, listen,
- 19:20Speaker 2: you get back, get back to school, kick some ass,
- 19:25Speaker 2: get some good grades, and make sure you keep throwing
- 19:28Speaker 2: that ball around. All right, you got it, all right, brother,
- 19:32Speaker 2: I look forward to meeting you. All right, all right,
- 19:36Speaker 2: bud Over and now Dominic bark home. What a what
- 19:41Speaker 2: a kid? Sixteen years old? And Anthony? All right to
- 19:49Speaker 2: uh to drop this this preview here, I'm going to
- 19:52Speaker 2: show you just a little teaser of what's coming.
- 19:57Speaker 6: Would have happened, it would would have just been me
- 19:59Speaker 6: and or I just I wouldn't have been able to
- 20:03Speaker 6: see and I wouldn't have been able to live with myself.
- 20:08Speaker 2: And I just want people to just learn CPR.
- 20:15Speaker 8: My dad called me like eight times.
- 20:16Speaker 3: My mom called me a few times, and I was
- 20:18Speaker 3: in shock, like I got messages from my dad saying,
- 20:21Speaker 3: don't collapse like this.
- 20:23Speaker 8: That and the third his heart stopped, he stayed. He
- 20:26Speaker 8: pretty much told me he was dead, like he was dead.
- 20:29Speaker 8: His heart stopped.
- 20:30Speaker 10: The whole room has just like gone silent at that point,
- 20:32Speaker 10: and it's just down to like, you know, what happened
- 20:36Speaker 10: to him, and uh so they started giving him CPR
- 20:40Speaker 10: and we all just had to have a moment of
- 20:43Speaker 10: silence for him, stay there for a second.
- 20:46Speaker 8: Afterwards, we did go to the locker.
- 20:47Speaker 1: Room, though.
- 20:49Speaker 8: Very then.
- 20:51Speaker 2: I think every everybody should.
- 20:56Speaker 6: Betrayed regardless because I would.
- 20:59Speaker 1: I would.
- 21:01Speaker 2: I wouldn't have been able to save it if it
- 21:03Speaker 2: was just myself.
- 21:05Speaker 8: Everyone has to have fundraisers. The person I give a CPR,
- 21:10Speaker 8: all the doctors that were there to help me, all
- 21:13Speaker 8: the everybody that was there. All right, I can make
- 21:20Speaker 8: more payment.
- 21:36Speaker 2: And that's just a quick snippet of the full length
- 21:42Speaker 2: documentary that is going to be released on Monday this
- 21:46Speaker 2: coming Monday, February third, with Invisible Productions behind it. So
- 21:52Speaker 2: please keep watch of the VT Coyotes Facebook page and
- 21:56Speaker 2: social media for that. Of course, I'm going to be
- 22:02Speaker 2: watching and paying attention to this as well and making
- 22:05Speaker 2: sure that this is all over aired out so that
- 22:08Speaker 2: you get a chance to see the full length. That's
- 22:10Speaker 2: just kind of the trailer. But what a what an honor,
- 22:14Speaker 2: what a privilege it is to not only chat with
- 22:21Speaker 2: Dominic this morning, but also to be part of this
- 22:26Speaker 2: whole experience with the VT Coyotes and the I gotta
- 22:31Speaker 2: tell you the fact that that Anthony and Invisible Productions
- 22:40Speaker 2: jumped on that right away and said, we gotta, we
- 22:43Speaker 2: got to bring this this story of Dominic into our
- 22:47Speaker 2: story of the Coyotes. The fact that he did that
- 22:50Speaker 2: so quickly didn't surprise me at all, Brandy at all.
- 22:54Speaker 5: He's very quick, Yeah, very quick. But you know, that
- 22:57Speaker 5: is an amazing story. It's huge, which Dominic is a hero.
- 23:02Speaker 5: I couldn't imagine at sixteen what he was feeling, and
- 23:05Speaker 5: then as a mother myself, I could not even imagine
- 23:07Speaker 5: watching my son drop like that, very very emotional. It's
- 23:12Speaker 5: just he is a brave, brave, brave child.
- 23:15Speaker 2: Yeah yeah, I mean, you know what with the stats
- 23:20Speaker 2: one hundred to one hundred and fifty athletes, the young
- 23:24Speaker 2: athletes that this happens to without any warning, and you know,
- 23:29Speaker 2: there's there's such a I guess misconception that just because
- 23:35Speaker 2: you're in your teens and you're running around and you're
- 23:37Speaker 2: in the best shape in your life doesn't necessarily mean
- 23:41Speaker 2: that you don't have some underlying health issues.
- 23:45Speaker 5: Exactly you never know, you're not aware of. And the
- 23:48Speaker 5: passion of the game to drive alive. Yeah, so I
- 23:52Speaker 5: don't believe anything's going to stop him. He will continue
- 23:55Speaker 5: to play and that's that's his passion.
- 23:57Speaker 2: I can't wait to see him meet the VT.
- 24:00Speaker 6: So exciting, very exciting.
- 24:04Speaker 2: Really something else. Again, We'll make sure that everybody gets
- 24:09Speaker 2: their eyes in their ears on this mini documentary when
- 24:13Speaker 2: it comes out on Monday. This is coming Monday. And again,
- 24:17Speaker 2: keep watch VT coyotes on social media because that's where
- 24:22Speaker 2: that's the hub. That's where you're going to get all
- 24:24Speaker 2: the information.
- 24:24Speaker 6: Stuff that's coming from follow like it.
- 24:26Speaker 5: That's where all everything is announced is through that page.
- 24:34Speaker 2: Thank you so much for schlupping through the snow and
- 24:38Speaker 2: coming down here this morning.
- 24:40Speaker 6: Thank you for having me.
- 24:41Speaker 2: It came a long way. Tell us a little bit
- 24:43Speaker 2: about you. This is a Brandy Carlton, by the way,
- 24:46Speaker 2: the staff performance analyst with the VT Coyotes. Where are
- 24:50Speaker 2: you from? What tell us about you.
- 24:52Speaker 5: I'm from Worseville and I pretty much am ubermana. I've
- 24:55Speaker 5: been here since I was seven and the Moyle County
- 24:58Speaker 5: is where I've pretty much resided my whole life. I
- 25:02Speaker 5: have four children and we just hang out in more
- 25:06Speaker 5: sil Vermont.
- 25:07Speaker 2: Wow, how did you so? Tell us how you got
- 25:13Speaker 2: into into the VT Coyotes.
- 25:16Speaker 5: And yeah, So my boyfriend was on the Revolution League
- 25:23Speaker 5: for years and when I first met him, he's like, oh,
- 25:25Speaker 5: I'm on a basketball team.
- 25:26Speaker 6: I'm like, oh, that's cool.
- 25:28Speaker 5: And then I went to one of the games, like
- 25:30Speaker 5: six months into it, and I was like, oh, my goodness,
- 25:33Speaker 5: I need more. I need to know about this guy, Andy.
- 25:36Speaker 5: I need to know about how he did this, why
- 25:39Speaker 5: he did this.
- 25:40Speaker 6: It's very inspiring.
- 25:43Speaker 5: Just the Revolution League, right, And so you know, I
- 25:46Speaker 5: went in as a quiet watcher and then by the
- 25:48Speaker 5: third game, I'm like screaming because I'm such a huge
- 25:52Speaker 5: supporter of pretty much everything it does. And then on
- 25:56Speaker 5: Facebook it was announced that Andy was the president of
- 26:00Speaker 5: the Vermont Coyotes, and.
- 26:01Speaker 6: I was like, I wonder what this is.
- 26:03Speaker 5: The next game, I saw there was a gentleman there
- 26:06Speaker 5: with a camera and I'm watching him like I wonder
- 26:08Speaker 5: what he's doing because I'm a people watcher. I like
- 26:10Speaker 5: to see what people are doing. And then I was like,
- 26:13Speaker 5: I'm going to talk to him. So I did and
- 26:15Speaker 5: I was like, what are you doing and he's like, oh,
- 26:17Speaker 5: I'm filming. I said, okay, that's cool. So then it
- 26:20Speaker 5: went a little A couple days later I saw his
- 26:22Speaker 5: film and then he was at the next Revolution game.
- 26:25Speaker 6: I'm like, oh my god, you are amazing. He's like, oh,
- 26:28Speaker 6: thank you. So then the.
- 26:32Speaker 5: Tryouts, the community dinner, I was like, you have to
- 26:35Speaker 5: go to this, you know, this is an amazing opportunity.
- 26:38Speaker 6: So we went and I heard.
- 26:40Speaker 5: Anthony's story and I got chills and like tears in
- 26:43Speaker 5: my eyes, and I.
- 26:45Speaker 6: Was like, this guy is so fascinating.
- 26:48Speaker 5: I must know more. So I went up to him.
- 26:51Speaker 5: I said, Hey, if you ever need any help, I'm here.
- 26:53Speaker 6: And he's like yeah, it's great.
- 26:55Speaker 5: And then you know, we just talking every once in
- 26:59Speaker 5: a while. And then the next time I saw him,
- 27:00Speaker 5: I'm like, just to let you know I'm here to
- 27:03Speaker 5: help if you need it.
- 27:04Speaker 6: And then he hit me up and was.
- 27:05Speaker 5: Like, hey, how do you want to join a zoom
- 27:08Speaker 5: meeting and be at the table And I'm like absolutely.
- 27:11Speaker 2: So here we are. Isn't it remarkable how you you
- 27:16Speaker 2: don't have to necessary I don't know anything about basketball.
- 27:21Speaker 2: I shouldn't say that. I'm starting to know a little
- 27:23Speaker 2: bit more because my daughter is starting to play. I
- 27:26Speaker 2: know what the difference between offense and defenses. That's about it.
- 27:29Speaker 2: And I know that the ball is orange, right, think
- 27:32Speaker 2: is it? I think it's orange. I'm making fun of myself,
- 27:36Speaker 2: but well.
- 27:37Speaker 6: In the ABA it's white red and yet not ye blue. Sorry. Yeah,
- 27:42Speaker 6: so there you go. You learned something new today.
- 27:45Speaker 2: You know. Isn't it incredible though, that, even if you
- 27:50Speaker 2: are not a die hard basketball person, that when you
- 27:55Speaker 2: step into an auditorium or or a gym and there's
- 28:00Speaker 2: a basketball game going on, the energy is infectious. It
- 28:07Speaker 2: is very much, and it just pushes through the crowd
- 28:11Speaker 2: and people that don't even necessarily know anything about basketball
- 28:15Speaker 2: or have a favorite team are on the sidelines acting
- 28:19Speaker 2: like a buffum. Get I got, But that's basketball.
- 28:24Speaker 6: It is, it is.
- 28:25Speaker 5: It brings people together and in a very positive way.
- 28:28Speaker 5: And like you said, you don't have to know all
- 28:30Speaker 5: the ins and outs of it, but if you know
- 28:32Speaker 5: the basics, then you're then you're fine.
- 28:35Speaker 2: And next fall, when the VT Coyotes step on to
- 28:39Speaker 2: the hardwood at the Berry Auditorium, our hometown basketball team,
- 28:46Speaker 2: there's going to be plenty of people in the audience
- 28:48Speaker 2: that just simply and I think this is probably one
- 28:53Speaker 2: of the biggest messages of the VT Coyotes just simply
- 28:57Speaker 2: need to get out of the monotony of their lives,
- 29:04Speaker 2: of the routines that they get into. Get out of
- 29:08Speaker 2: that house, get off of that couch, come out to
- 29:13Speaker 2: a VT Coyotes game, and just experience it.
- 29:17Speaker 5: Absolutely experience it. And then once you experience it, you
- 29:20Speaker 5: get excited. And once you get excited, you get to
- 29:22Speaker 5: see you know, you mingle with other people. You're not
- 29:24Speaker 5: on social media, you're out there, you're screaming, you're getting
- 29:27Speaker 5: that dopamine. I mean, it's huge. And me for me, myself,
- 29:32Speaker 5: I get so excited about the littlest things. But it
- 29:35Speaker 5: starts when I wake up on game day, I'm like,
- 29:37Speaker 5: oh my god, this is it.
- 29:39Speaker 6: It's game day. And then when you step into the
- 29:41Speaker 6: auditorium it's like wow, wow, yeah, just electric.
- 29:46Speaker 2: It is electric. Yeah that's the word right there.
- 29:49Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 29:49Speaker 2: I already got a comment. Do I get front row seats?
- 29:53Speaker 2: So you know, obviously we want to know at some
- 29:57Speaker 2: point here, maybe not today if you don't have the information,
- 30:00Speaker 2: but how to get tickets and how to get maybe
- 30:03Speaker 2: seasoned tickets.
- 30:05Speaker 5: Absolutely, and that is not something I can speak on today.
- 30:08Speaker 5: But again, like and follow the Vermont Coyotes because that's
- 30:11Speaker 5: where it's all going to come out. Also the website
- 30:14Speaker 5: also not just Facebook or Instagram, but the website, the
- 30:17Speaker 5: Vermont Coyotes website.
- 30:19Speaker 6: That is where everything is going to be announced.
- 30:21Speaker 2: Yeah, this is happening in the fall.
- 30:25Speaker 6: It is, yes, of this year.
- 30:27Speaker 5: That's crazy, it is because it seems so far away,
- 30:30Speaker 5: but it really is not that far away.
- 30:32Speaker 2: I texted Anthony I think a New Year's Eve saying
- 30:40Speaker 2: this is your year. Yeah, twenty twenty five is the
- 30:44Speaker 2: year that man, a lot of stuff's going to change.
- 30:48Speaker 6: It really is in so many good ways.
- 30:51Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 30:52Speaker 6: Yeah, we have fun.
- 30:53Speaker 2: We have needed this for a long time.
- 30:56Speaker 6: Yeah. Absolutely, the people need this.
- 30:59Speaker 2: I just want to I just want to make sure
- 31:04Speaker 2: that you're aware that I am wearing a Boston Celtics
- 31:09Speaker 2: hat this morning.
- 31:11Speaker 6: I did notice that one, did you a little swag? Yeah?
- 31:14Speaker 2: Did you notice that I'm wearing it? Just a regular
- 31:16Speaker 2: plane black shirt?
- 31:19Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 31:19Speaker 2: Okay, all right, so you've noticed it. So you've Yeah,
- 31:24Speaker 2: so you've noticed that that I'm not wearing VT Coyotes
- 31:29Speaker 2: swag hat shirt, but you are, yes, very much. So
- 31:36Speaker 2: when the hell is Anthony gonna get me a sweatshirt
- 31:41Speaker 2: and maybe a ball cap? I mean, I'm on camera.
- 31:44Speaker 6: It's got to happen soon. Yeah, I feel you.
- 31:49Speaker 5: I just barely got my sweatshirt today, so please don't
- 31:51Speaker 5: feel bad.
- 31:56Speaker 6: And I'm be ready for over this.
- 31:58Speaker 5: Literally it's the Thanksgiving I didn't get that twenty five
- 32:02Speaker 5: And I said to Anthony.
- 32:03Speaker 6: I hit him up. I said, I'm waiting for my sweatshirt.
- 32:05Speaker 6: He's like, don't worry, and here we are. I got my.
- 32:07Speaker 2: Sweatshirt last night. How about those spawling high school girls
- 32:14Speaker 2: beaten People's Academy fifty four thirty five and then you
- 32:18Speaker 2: thirty two destroyed Montpelier last night too.
- 32:21Speaker 6: Yes, I did.
- 32:22Speaker 5: I did watch that virtually. And one of our staff
- 32:25Speaker 5: members in Nashonda.
- 32:27Speaker 2: She's listening right now.
- 32:28Speaker 6: Oh hello, Nashonda. She is the coach.
- 32:32Speaker 5: And I tell you her girls were electric and I
- 32:35Speaker 5: loved watching it.
- 32:37Speaker 2: Did she put out some volume?
- 32:39Speaker 5: Oh my goodness, so much her positive energy and just
- 32:43Speaker 5: her her community outlook and everything.
- 32:46Speaker 6: It's it's amazing. We are so lucky to have her.
- 32:49Speaker 2: Yeah, yes, her team definitely knows. Yeah, she embodies this.
- 32:55Speaker 2: She's passionate.
- 32:56Speaker 6: She very much.
- 32:57Speaker 5: So.
- 33:01Speaker 2: Yeah, you know, I gotta tell you Vermont, Central Vermont.
- 33:07Speaker 2: I don't want to say Barry, but Central Vermont is
- 33:10Speaker 2: so excited about the Coyotes coming.
- 33:13Speaker 5: Yes, and we want them to be excited. We want
- 33:16Speaker 5: all of Vermont. We want that to spread to the
- 33:18Speaker 5: whole state of Vermont, up and down.
- 33:20Speaker 2: So what's do we have? The team? Is the team
- 33:24Speaker 2: getting built right now? And tell me about this tournament
- 33:27Speaker 2: Windsor High School, tell me about this.
- 33:32Speaker 5: Yes, so still recruiting, still looking for all that. That's
- 33:35Speaker 5: all I can speak to at that at this point.
- 33:38Speaker 5: And on February sixteenth, we are going to Windsor and
- 33:41Speaker 5: we are it's the next thirty two of the Revolution
- 33:45Speaker 5: basketball players start the last one, I was forty eight
- 33:48Speaker 5: and now we're down at thirty two and they're going
- 33:50Speaker 5: to it's going to be a tournament and the MVP
- 33:54Speaker 5: of that game is going to get a guaranteed spot
- 33:58Speaker 5: at the training camp this fall with the Vermont Coyotes
- 34:01Speaker 5: first ever training camp. And then yeah, it's this is exciting,
- 34:07Speaker 5: like this is where these thirty two men need to
- 34:11Speaker 5: bring their all because we're watching and not saying I
- 34:15Speaker 5: mean there will be other imitations, but you want that
- 34:18Speaker 5: guaranteed spot, so you want to go hard.
- 34:21Speaker 2: Do we have you said February sixteenth winsor high school
- 34:25Speaker 2: for this big tournament?
- 34:26Speaker 1: Yes?
- 34:26Speaker 2: Do we have a time on this?
- 34:28Speaker 6: Yes? First game starts at ten o'clock.
- 34:30Speaker 2: Ten o'clock in the morning.
- 34:31Speaker 6: Players have to be there and ready by.
- 34:33Speaker 1: Nine a m.
- 34:35Speaker 2: And who can be part of this tournament?
- 34:39Speaker 6: Like who can play or who can watch?
- 34:41Speaker 2: Who can play?
- 34:42Speaker 6: So the thirty two.
- 34:43Speaker 5: Revolution players are the ones playing, right, and then that's
- 34:47Speaker 5: where we're going to you know, each time we're going
- 34:49Speaker 5: to dwindle down.
- 34:50Speaker 2: Wow players, Yeah, what's Andy saying about all this?
- 34:56Speaker 5: Andy is so excited now, he really is excited about
- 34:59Speaker 5: the and Andy actually plays in it. So, uh, he's
- 35:04Speaker 5: part of the thirty two and we you know, we're
- 35:07Speaker 5: rooting for everybody, and we're really excited.
- 35:10Speaker 2: For this short dude.
- 35:12Speaker 6: Well, I tell you he's very competitive and very good.
- 35:17Speaker 6: I mean I've seen his trophies. He has shown us
- 35:20Speaker 6: his trophies.
- 35:21Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 35:21Speaker 5: And you know the best thing about Andy is he
- 35:24Speaker 5: thinks I'm just such a brought's of fresh air.
- 35:28Speaker 6: He tells me that all the time.
- 35:29Speaker 2: I mean, if I'm sure he does, he does. I mean,
- 35:35Speaker 2: I'm five four, what's he He's got to be right
- 35:37Speaker 2: around there? I mean five five?
- 35:40Speaker 6: Anthony said for eleven one time?
- 35:44Speaker 2: Did Anthony say that that's going to be ugly?
- 35:47Speaker 5: I don't know how Andy is, but that doesn't matter.
- 35:52Speaker 5: He is definitely showing people that.
- 35:54Speaker 6: You don't have to be tall in this game. No,
- 35:57Speaker 6: she kills it.
- 35:58Speaker 2: And did I think what Massachusetts is where he was
- 36:02Speaker 2: playing in high school?
- 36:04Speaker 6: I think that's what I arted. Yeah, Philly.
- 36:07Speaker 2: That's Philadelphia. Oh that's right, Philadelphia. Yeah. Yeah, and just
- 36:11Speaker 2: like one of the star players down there.
- 36:13Speaker 6: Yeah. Incredible. And I've seen him play on the Revolution
- 36:17Speaker 6: team and he's good.
- 36:18Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 36:18Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 36:19Speaker 2: And Joe Joe the assistant coach. I mean, everybody's so excited.
- 36:25Speaker 5: Yeah, Joe's really great. He's just his demeanor is I
- 36:30Speaker 5: can't even explain it. It's a calmness. Of course you've
- 36:32Speaker 5: met Joe, you've had him on the show. Yeah, and
- 36:35Speaker 5: just his light that just radiates from him.
- 36:38Speaker 6: He's wonderful.
- 36:40Speaker 2: Tell me about throw some love at the other staffers.
- 36:44Speaker 5: So I actually want to announce that there's been a
- 36:46Speaker 5: couple changes other than adding me.
- 36:48Speaker 6: Yeah, so we it was.
- 36:50Speaker 5: Announced that our general manager, Chris he is no longer
- 36:54Speaker 5: with the Vermont Coyotes, as well as Martha and as.
- 36:58Speaker 6: Well as our head coach Jesse.
- 37:00Speaker 5: Okay, so those three are no longer with the Vermont Coyotes.
- 37:03Speaker 5: And that's about all say and speak on that. But
- 37:06Speaker 5: I will say that we are excited for potential head coaches, okay,
- 37:12Speaker 5: and that will be announced when one is secured. But
- 37:16Speaker 5: have have no fear because Anthony and Andy they are
- 37:20Speaker 5: very good at what they do and they will they will,
- 37:24Speaker 5: you know, have somebody lead the Vermont Coyotes.
- 37:26Speaker 2: Yeah. Yeah, And I mean it's it's going to be
- 37:32Speaker 2: you know, like I said to Anthony a couple of
- 37:35Speaker 2: months ago. I'm like, man, this is going to be
- 37:37Speaker 2: a fast, fast year.
- 37:40Speaker 6: It is.
- 37:40Speaker 5: It's fast track, and it's like all hands on deck.
- 37:43Speaker 5: You know, everybody has to be a part of this.
- 37:46Speaker 5: And it's just we all have careers outside of Vermont
- 37:50Speaker 5: Coyotes and so we're so passionate that, you know, when
- 37:53Speaker 5: we clock out of our other job, it's straight to
- 37:56Speaker 5: the next job or not job. Vermont Coyotes. I don't
- 37:59Speaker 5: see as a job. I see it as this passionate thing.
- 38:02Speaker 5: I view it as that, like I'm excited. The excitement
- 38:05Speaker 5: doesn't end. I'm researching, I'm looking things up. I'm like, hey,
- 38:08Speaker 5: I'm bugging Anthony all day long.
- 38:10Speaker 6: Hey, what do you think about this? What do you
- 38:11Speaker 6: think about that?
- 38:12Speaker 5: Just because it is that exciting. So yeah, it's it's
- 38:15Speaker 5: fast and it's a commitment.
- 38:16Speaker 2: Yeah yeah, you know, of course I have so many
- 38:20Speaker 2: questions about you know, tickets and the the you know
- 38:25Speaker 2: impending start date of everything, and I think it's going
- 38:29Speaker 2: to be what.
- 38:30Speaker 6: October ish, Yeah, I would say October ish, yes, all right.
- 38:37Speaker 2: In tickets, I mean it's like just just watch the page,
- 38:42Speaker 2: watch the swat.
- 38:43Speaker 5: Yes, yes, because we will announce it and it's not
- 38:46Speaker 5: that we don't announce things in a small way. When
- 38:48Speaker 5: we announce it, they go big, right, go big or
- 38:50Speaker 5: go home. Yeah, so uh and it will. It's going
- 38:54Speaker 5: to be so exciting and we'll give everybody plenty of
- 38:56Speaker 5: time to secure tickets, season tickets, whatever it is.
- 39:00Speaker 6: We want people there.
- 39:01Speaker 5: We want them there, We want the stands field, we
- 39:03Speaker 5: want them cheering, you know, we want that.
- 39:06Speaker 2: There's going to be some some theme nights, some stuff
- 39:09Speaker 2: going on where different people in our community are showcased.
- 39:14Speaker 2: Obviously Dominic Barcolm will be one of them. But there's
- 39:17Speaker 2: going to be some fun too. It's some entertainment. Then
- 39:19Speaker 2: we're going to get the kids out of the stands.
- 39:21Speaker 5: Yes, that is, that's the hope, and that's what ABA
- 39:24Speaker 5: is all about, right like, aside from the NBA. That's
- 39:27Speaker 5: why they make it exciting. They have these contests, they've
- 39:30Speaker 5: had these you know, headliners, or they have these celebrity
- 39:33Speaker 5: players come in from the community and shoot a cut
- 39:37Speaker 5: around of hoops.
- 39:38Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 39:38Speaker 5: Yeah, it's very It's going to be a hell of
- 39:41Speaker 5: a ride, I have to say. And we are not
- 39:42Speaker 5: going to disappoint the fans, No.
- 39:45Speaker 2: Not at all. February sixteenth, Winsor High School the place
- 39:49Speaker 2: to be starting at ten am, but this tournament is
- 39:52Speaker 2: going to be going on all day. The Revolution Basketball
- 39:56Speaker 2: is going to be there Andy and the rest of
- 39:59Speaker 2: his staff and players. And this is the a game, man.
- 40:04Speaker 2: I mean, this is like these players are coming out
- 40:06Speaker 2: there and they are not just doing a little bit
- 40:09Speaker 2: of Saturday afternoon fun. This is like this is serious.
- 40:13Speaker 5: Yes, And that you know about the Revolution Basketball that
- 40:16Speaker 5: I absolutely loved is that they don't practice. They come
- 40:20Speaker 5: to the court, they don't you know, they know who
- 40:21Speaker 5: their team is, but they just play. And it's incredible
- 40:24Speaker 5: to me that these men don't have to practice with
- 40:27Speaker 5: each other to come together. And that is just it
- 40:30Speaker 5: says something about the game. Sure, it really does. So yeah,
- 40:33Speaker 5: they have to go hard.
- 40:35Speaker 2: Is there anything else that we can think of or
- 40:40Speaker 2: promote for the VT Coyotes before we close out?
- 40:46Speaker 5: You know, I just say come out, have a great
- 40:50Speaker 5: time and root for our guys because it is they're
- 40:53Speaker 5: gonna They're gonna do some really good here in Vermont,
- 40:56Speaker 5: they really are. And watch our page, share, share our content,
- 41:00Speaker 5: and this is a great organization and good good people.
- 41:05Speaker 2: Yeah, and you can you can bite sweatshirts and hatchets.
- 41:08Speaker 6: You can, you can.
