- 0:06Hello. What's your least favorite scary
- 0:08movie? Welcome to What's Your Least
- 0:12Favorite Scary Movie? The podcast where we talk about
- 0:15the good, the bad, the ugly and the absurd, and all of our
- 0:18favorite and least favorite scary movies.
- 0:20Because we believe every horror movie rifely has is fanbase.
- 0:23Even if we don't always get it. My name is Travis.
- 0:25My name is Jessie. And welcome, everybody.
- 0:27We are continuing our Texas Chainsaw Massacre franchise
- 0:31coverage and we're going to be talking about Part 2 today.
- 0:34Yes. And everybody welcome Jessie
- 0:37back to the show. Yeah, Yeah, She had a bout of
- 0:41being unable to talk. Yes, if you didn't listen to our
- 0:45TB or not to be episode. Basically what happened is I was
- 0:49having like a very severe muscle spasm that I had to get several
- 0:52medications for from the doctor and the irritation and like all
- 0:56the neck muscles and stuff caused irritation in my vocal
- 0:59cords and I just couldn't talk until 2 days ago.
- 1:02No, a day ago even 2 days ago was still a little iffy.
- 1:05My voice might crack some today, but we're doing a lot better,
- 1:09you know, more confident. It's nice, like you're the one
- 1:12that gets hurt or sick in this marriage and you know it's cool
- 1:18that you keep finding new and entertaining ways to do this to
- 1:21yourself. Cool, thank.
- 1:22You it's not gotten still I. Didn't do anything to myself, I
- 1:25just woke up in misery. Well, OK, yeah, well, your
- 1:29muscles started freaking the fuck out.
- 1:31Yeah. And I was like, I mean, you felt
- 1:33it this morning even. It's still like a little tense
- 1:36there. It's a lot better than what it
- 1:37was like a solid rock a week ago.
- 1:40Yeah. It's it's nice being able to
- 1:42actually hear your normal voice. Yes, Jesse was not hamming it up
- 1:45when we recorded. That no, there's.
- 1:47I couldn't redo that if I tried. Yeah, it was.
- 1:52It was that rough for a full week.
- 1:54Yeah, it was pretty bad. Yeah, but we don't have to worry
- 1:56about that Now. We have Texas chance on Massacre
- 1:59Two. We're going to talk about it,
- 2:00but before we do, do you have anything you want to announce?
- 2:03Yes, our budget tier Patreon bubbies.
- 2:06We released our March Patreon bonus episode this past weekend,
- 2:11and they're not Patreon bubbies. They are doing a new feature
- 2:17that we're going to try out where you can purchase an
- 2:20individual bonus episode if you would like to without the like
- 2:25commitment of subscribing to it. So we're going to set that at
- 2:28$5, which if you will notice the budget here is $6.
- 2:31And you get a bunch of other added benefits from that, like
- 2:36stickers from our franchise episodes.
- 2:38You can vote, you get a shout out on the show, you get our
- 2:42notes. So there's, you know, but if you
- 2:44just want to sample the bonus episodes, you can do that.
- 2:47Yeah, yeah. It's pretty, you know, it's
- 2:49there for people who want that. So yeah, check it out if you
- 2:52want to. It's March Madness theme this
- 2:54month. Yes.
- 2:56So we did the tournament of horror sequels.
- 2:57We did sequeasels. Sequeasels, as they called it.
- 3:01Yes, as they called it. Also this past Sunday our two
- 3:04year not to be from March came out.
- 3:06We talked about Demon Island AKA Survival Island AKA Pinata AKA
- 3:10Pinata Survival Island AKA Pinata Demon Island, but we just
- 3:14called it Demon Island because that's how it was listed on TV.
- 3:16Yeah, if you want to watch it, that's how you search for it
- 3:18right there. But check that out and watch
- 3:20that movie. Let us know your thoughts on it
- 3:22because I'm curious. If you like aggressively early
- 3:252000s horror movies, you will enjoy that.
- 3:29That that move, that's one for the Joe evolution, right?
- 3:31There. Yeah, that movie right there.
- 3:33Yes, that. 'D be part of that, yes.
- 3:35OK, well, we got that out of the way.
- 3:37Yes, I have poll results from. Last forever.
- 3:40Last episode, yeah, my reminder went off to post, like where to
- 3:43watch? And I was like, oh, I already
- 3:45did. Yeah, a week ago, yeah.
- 3:46We've we've had this shoot waiting for a while.
- 3:49OK, so the long legs poll, I just came up with this one on my
- 3:53own because we had, it was a little bit busy that week
- 3:55before. Yeah.
- 3:56And really I just, I think it's a valid question.
- 3:59Did long legs live up to the hype?
- 4:02So I got everybody's answers and it is 73% of the people do say
- 4:09it lived up to the hype. OK, 27 said no.
- 4:12OK, for me it it lived up to the hype the first time I watched it
- 4:17and it continues to live up to the hype.
- 4:19OK I it didn't initially second watch I liked it more but still
- 4:28don't think it lived up to the hype.
- 4:29OK, so you still you're still firmly in the over hyped camp.
- 4:33It was one of those, I mean, it it was just like a victim of its
- 4:36own marketing, OK? It got hyped up really big, and
- 4:39that's cool. And they got money for it, but
- 4:42it didn't live up to it. OK?
- 4:44Yeah. All right, so we got that.
- 4:47Let's get into Texas Chainsaw Massacre Part 2.
- 4:50All righty. This movie released August 24th,
- 4:551986. We watched it on our Blu-ray,
- 4:58but if you want to stream it you can find it on Fubo TV, MGM
- 5:03plus, Philo TV and Pluto. Written by LM Kit Carson and
- 5:07Toby Hooper, directed by Toby Hooper, music by Jerry Lambert
- 5:11and Toby Hooper, special effects makeup.
- 5:13Tom Savini, OK, did not remember that and so we started watching
- 5:19when his name came up. Yeah, and we're like, oh, that's
- 5:21it. Stan Veeny lives again.
- 5:23Yeah, good for him. Always a good sign.
- 5:26Starring Caroline Williams is Stretch Dennis Hopper as Lutina
- 5:31Enright. Lou Perryman is LOGI.
- 5:34Didn't realize that was Dennis Hopper.
- 5:35You didn't realize that was him, do you?
- 5:38I know Dennis Hopper mostly from his voice work in Ants so.
- 5:43Or maybe it's A Bug's Life. One of those They're very.
- 5:45Do you not remember his probably best role ever as Bowser in the
- 5:51Super Mario Bros Movie? I actively block out a lot of
- 5:55that movie. He.
- 5:55Does too. This is OK.
- 5:59This is one of my favorite things about the Texas Chainsaw
- 6:01Massacre series. This is where we start getting
- 6:04future stars in the movies. We start with Dennis Hopper.
- 6:10We're going to get some fucking A listers all throughout this
- 6:13entire series. Not too long now before we talk
- 6:16about Renee Zellweger and Matthew McConaughey, yeah.
- 6:19And then next the one even has somebody too.
- 6:22We'll talk about that then. Yeah, that's this month.
- 6:25Yeah, yeah. You don't have to wait too long.
- 6:27We're we're doing a Texas chance 3 weeks.
- 6:29From now. Yeah, yeah, Bill Mosley is
- 6:31chopped top. Jim Sedow is the cook and Bill
- 6:36Johnson has a little other face. OK, all right, time for our
- 6:40favorite game on the show. Budget or bucked head?
- 6:44I played along this week because you played along on TV so I
- 6:49didn't have to do my petty revenge.
- 6:50Yeah. We did pretty good.
- 6:51Yeah, I feel like this. I feel like this is probably
- 6:57still bugged head. Like clearly almost a decade and
- 7:02a half later they decided they wanted to do a sequel.
- 7:06But I I don't think that that screams were going to give you a
- 7:09ton of money if it took that long to yeah, to decide to do
- 7:13it. It made a It made this mark in
- 7:16that decade. Yeah.
- 7:18But this is 12 years later. It's insane it took 12 years to
- 7:21get a sequel. 13, right? I thought it was 73.
- 7:23Was it 74? OK.
- 7:25All right, you are correct. It's Baghdad.
- 7:28It's a $4.7 million budget. It's honestly though, not bad.
- 7:32No, it's really not opening box office. 2.8 million Worldwide
- 7:37Gross 8 million. OK, not fantastic.
- 7:40This is kind of in line with a lot of movies.
- 7:42At this time, yeah. The whole media is where it got
- 7:45it's it's dinner. BHS.
- 7:49It's a 5.6 out of 10 on IMDb. Wow.
- 7:52Yeah, right. That's kind of rude.
- 7:53It's kind of surprising, honestly.
- 7:55I thought a lot of people love this one, but I don't think
- 7:57that's the case actually. I feel like you're about to just
- 8:02get your feelings hurt month after month for the next.
- 8:05Year. I know I'm I'm surprised on this
- 8:10one, not the other. I know exactly what's going to
- 8:13happen. I'm ready to be heard.
- 8:16I have 3 movies that also released in 1986 to compare it
- 8:20to. OK, I have a theme.
- 8:22The theme is surprisingly campy and surprisingly fun at the same
- 8:26time. Didn't expect the camp.
- 8:28Didn't expect the fun. OK, OK.
- 8:30I'd argue camp is fun, but that's fine.
- 8:33Yeah, that's fine. Yeah, well.
- 8:34That's that's the thing, I didn't expect the camp.
- 8:37And then it became like surprisingly extra fun as a
- 8:39result. OK so the first movie Friday the
- 8:4213th part 6 Jason lives. Wow, yeah.
- 8:46Now that one is camped to the core that.
- 8:49One's great. It's good.
- 8:50It's really, really good. That's the one that has the :)
- 8:53whenever a person gets their face bashed.
- 8:55In Tammy, Tommy Jarvis flirting his way out of jail with the
- 9:00sheriff's daughter. Yeah, and.
- 9:02Alice Cooper all up in that soundtrack.
- 9:05Yeah, he also resurrects Jason just straight up with like, it's
- 9:10like freaking. Signs.
- 9:11Yeah, and he also taunts him to death.
- 9:14Yeah, so that movie came out August 1st, 1986.
- 9:19Three $1,000,000 budget, $19 million gross.
- 9:22OK, so it did twice as well as actually more than twice as well
- 9:26as Texas Chainsaw Massacre. 26 outs in on 90 B OK, not bad.
- 9:31Yeah, that's OK. Next movie Maximum OverDrive.
- 9:36Wow, OK. Did not expect a Stephen King
- 9:39movie to be as campy as it was, especially when directed by
- 9:42Stephen King. Yeah.
- 9:44But this movie goes hard. We watched it for the first time
- 9:47last year. Yeah, love the ACDC soundtrack
- 9:51that happened here. I mean, so far your list just
- 9:53also seems like movies with awesome soundtracks.
- 9:55You know, that's actually true. I don't know if that's really
- 9:58going to track what the. 3rd would be.
- 10:00It might. So.
- 10:03Maximum OverDrive came out July 25th, 1980.
- 10:06Six $10 million budget. God damn.
- 10:09That is a budget movie. Yeah.
- 10:11Worldwide gross 7 point. Four.
- 10:13Yeah, yeah. 5.4 on IMDb. Surprising.
- 10:18I know, right? You know it's a fun movie.
- 10:21It is. A fun movie and I like that the
- 10:23resolution is just gasses up. Yeah.
- 10:28Fill us up, buddy. All right, Final Movie shopping
- 10:32mall. Yeah, no, that's still it's not
- 10:36a banging soundtrack in the same way, but yeah, yeah.
- 10:41Also, what is it? St.
- 10:43Walking? Oh yeah, you.
- 10:44Know what? OK, we got some in there.
- 10:46Yeah, so shopping mall released March 14th 1986.
- 10:50Eight $100,000 budget. Don't have a gross 5.6 on IMDb
- 10:55that movie gets. Blow up I see a lot.
- 10:57Of people like it for the right reasons.
- 11:00Is a movie called Chopping Mall really surprisingly campy
- 11:04though? I think the surprising part is
- 11:06that there's no chopping, so that the surprise camp comes
- 11:10from it being robots shooting lasers.
- 11:12That's that's a fair, fair assessment, OK.
- 11:15All right, so I have one tag line.
- 11:17Just one, yeah. After a decade of silence, the
- 11:21buzz is back. That's not.
- 11:25Bad. Yeah, I thought it was going to
- 11:26be more like the saw his family. You know, that feels like a
- 11:30fitting tagline for this movie. The saw is the law.
- 11:34Saw that might be our tagline. At the end of this movie.
- 11:38I love that. Can we draw a leather face with
- 11:41like a White claw logo on this chainsaw?
- 11:45That'll be a separate one. You'll have to do that
- 11:48separately, OK? Oh yeah, you already did the
- 11:52art. I've already drawn it.
- 11:53Yeah, it's done. OK, so have fun Facts.
- 11:58Yeah. Production started after a
- 12:00successful theatrical run in 1981 for the original Texas
- 12:04Chainsaw Massacre. Hooper was originally only going
- 12:07to be the producer of the movie. However, they could not find a
- 12:10director in the budget that they had, so he eventually just caved
- 12:14and stepped in did it himself. Originally they were going to
- 12:18have Gunnar Hansen do the role of Leatherface again, however,
- 12:23he declined due to a low offer which was, According to him,
- 12:27just scale. He felt offended by that.
- 12:31However, there are two sides to the story because they say he
- 12:37was indecisive about the whole thing.
- 12:40So they rescinded the offer and went with Bill Johnson and
- 12:45stuff. OK, so there's two sides of it.
- 12:48I don't know which one's right. I tend to believe Gunner in this
- 12:51case that tracks that they would try to fuck them over with the.
- 12:54Pay, I mean, and that could be why he was indecisive.
- 12:57Well he they got fucked over in the original 1 so he knows his
- 13:00worth now and stick to. It buddy.
- 13:02You know, I, I respect that. There's three sides to every
- 13:05story. Their side, that side, and the
- 13:07truth. Right, Right.
- 13:08Right, Right. Yeah, I'm happy that we got Bill
- 13:11Johnson. He we saw him at Scare Fest this
- 13:15past year. He is hilarious.
- 13:17Dude, the Leatherface panel was amazing.
- 13:20It was. Really, really good.
- 13:21It's probably my favorite. You know what I should probably
- 13:24throw out? We also have Tom Morga as
- 13:26Leatherface in this movie too, so we have two leather faces.
- 13:28He was there a part of that panel, which was amazing because
- 13:32he was also part of the Michael Meyer Meyers panel and the Jason
- 13:36Voorhees panel because he's played all of them.
- 13:37Yeah, he's he's been everywhere, man, I.
- 13:40Liked it. Yeah.
- 13:41Like he just, like, he just kept coming to the panel.
- 13:43He just kept seeing them. And he's like, Yep, that was
- 13:45them, too. Yeah.
- 13:46He was really cool. He's one of the only ones to do
- 13:48that. So chopped top.
- 13:51This is a surprise me. I never knew this a little bit
- 13:53before. He's the Hitchhiker's twin
- 13:55brother. All right, fraternal twins.
- 13:59Yeah, I can tell he was channeling that performance
- 14:03whenever he was doing the voice of.
- 14:04Chocolate, yes, I I could hear. Yeah, it had like similar
- 14:08mannerisms and like vocal tics, but yeah, clearly not the same
- 14:12person. And another thing that I wasn't
- 14:14aware of, you know, the little like body that they have around
- 14:19that they're using like at the start and then that he's
- 14:22carrying around the entire time dancing around with.
- 14:24That's the hitchhiker. His name is Nubbins.
- 14:28Nubbins, Sawyer. OK.
- 14:31And they took his body parts and just reattached him, and now
- 14:35he's just still part of the family.
- 14:37I'm going to be really honest, at the beginning I thought they
- 14:39were holding Grandpa up so that way he could be part of the
- 14:42chase. Really.
- 14:43Yeah. You know that would track.
- 14:45That's what's in my notes. They mean that would, yeah, that
- 14:48would go along with like how they usually operate, but no.
- 14:52OK nubbins. So then that explains why
- 14:53chopped top was like so attached to the body.
- 14:57Yeah, it makes sense. Yeah.
- 14:58Speaking of Chop Top and Bill Mosley, Bill Mosley actually got
- 15:01the part because he made a short of his own called The Texas
- 15:05Chainsaw Manicure, where he he played the hitchhiker in that
- 15:11movie and Toby Hooper happened to see it.
- 15:14And then he kept in the back of his mind, if I ever do another
- 15:17Texas Chainsaw movie, I'm going to cast him as a part.
- 15:20And then here we go. We got the second one and he
- 15:23cast him stuck true to it. I.
- 15:24Love that. There were a lot of extra scenes
- 15:28in the movie that were deleted. They cited pacing issues as a
- 15:31result of that. The stuff that we got caught is
- 15:33actually sounds like it could have been cool stuff.
- 15:36It's a lot of special Savini effects stuff that got caught
- 15:41because apparently there's a scene where after the chili
- 15:46competition, they go to a movie theater, I think it is, and they
- 15:52just take a bunch of, like, people leaving and they, like,
- 15:55use them and kill them for their meat for the chili.
- 15:58OK, Yeah, that's the scene. I think that has Joe Bob in it.
- 16:02And it would be cool to see some of that stuff and see those
- 16:05effects. But I do think that this movie
- 16:06generally is very well paced, so I think adding in stuff would
- 16:10probably kind of bog it down. It's also surprisingly long.
- 16:13It's like 30 minutes longer than the original.
- 16:16Yeah, and I don't think it, I don't think this is a movie that
- 16:19needs a 2 hour runtime. No, it's a.
- 16:21It's 1:45, I think. Yeah.
- 16:25So, yeah, that's pretty much the stuff that I got right there for
- 16:29fun facts. There's surprisingly not a whole
- 16:31lot of stuff out there, but I hope we had fun along the way.
- 16:34So we should be getting into our good, bad, ugly and absurd.
- 16:37Jesse, you kick it off what you like.
- 16:39I think this is another Texas Chainsaw that has a really
- 16:43fantastic Leatherface jump scare.
- 16:45You know, we talked about that in the first one and that's
- 16:47iconic, but we get so engrossed watching stretch and chop top
- 16:54their interaction and then all of a sudden we just have
- 16:57Leatherface like running out of the record vault.
- 17:01It's so fucking good. Yeah.
- 17:02That is one of the best ones in the entire series actually in
- 17:05like I would say in the genre. And then I also just think Bill
- 17:10Mosley and Carolyn Williams, both of them, their characters
- 17:14are just so well realized and so engaging to watch on screen.
- 17:19Yeah. And I think that that's not
- 17:21something that we get a ton of in these movies.
- 17:24Like when you think about the first one, Yeah, like, we've got
- 17:27Sally, but what do we really know about?
- 17:29Yeah, the characters themselves don't really say that.
- 17:32It's the family that really does.
- 17:33Yeah. Yeah, I agree with that.
- 17:36It's kind of interesting. I think I was reading about her.
- 17:39She has played that character in like two or three other separate
- 17:43movies. She would be hired for the role
- 17:46and like, this is Stretch. So play Stretch.
- 17:48And then she created her own head cannon for why Stretch
- 17:51would be in these scenarios. Like she escaped from the place
- 17:54and she changed her name, you know, stuff like that.
- 17:56Part of me feels like it. It's stretch light in Hatchet 3.
- 18:01That's another one, she said. That's.
- 18:03That is stretch OK. She said Stretch went on to
- 18:06become a reporter. I mean, you know, that makes
- 18:08sense. She said she wanted to be more
- 18:10than just a schlocky radio DJ. It tracks with the character,
- 18:13Yeah, she, she in her head can and that is stretch in that
- 18:17series right there. I just figured that, you know,
- 18:19Adam Green wanted her A because horror icon.
- 18:22B Believable Southern accent. True.
- 18:25Yeah, she, she knows that. She's really good.
- 18:27Yeah, yeah. So those are those are my main
- 18:30goods with it. I think also like the world
- 18:33building of their their restaurant now it's not just a
- 18:36restaurant, but they're also like entering chili cook offs
- 18:39and they relocated to I this movie is also helpful for
- 18:44reminding me of how big Texas is.
- 18:48Like, Oh yeah, they relocated because it got too suspicious of
- 18:51all the chainsaw deaths. Like, and to me, I'm like, well,
- 18:54if you like, you just keep having chainsaw deaths.
- 18:56Like in some place like Kentucky.
- 18:59I mean, we're all gonna hear about it, but I guess in Texas,
- 19:03cuz how many Kentuckys can fit in Texas?
- 19:05More than two. Yeah, a lot of countries can fit
- 19:08in that state. Yeah, The biggest though, Texas,
- 19:11get over yourself. So there's bigger states out
- 19:13there. Alaska.
- 19:17OK, the good for me. I love the opening to this
- 19:21movie. It is so effective.
- 19:24This is a movie that I remember renting with my cousins and
- 19:27going over to their house and watching whenever I was a kid
- 19:30and it scared the shit out of me.
- 19:31That opening especially. I didn't know what was happening
- 19:34when they got on top of the truck and he's got the chainsaw
- 19:37behind the body. Like who the fuck is this guy?
- 19:40What is this thing? What is happening?
- 19:42He just chainsaws his head in half.
- 19:44Tokyo Gore police ruined the opening for me.
- 19:46How? Just thinking about the man with
- 19:48the chainsaw on the roof. Oh, really?
- 19:50Yeah. OK, yeah, it's one of my
- 19:53favorite openings though it this movie.
- 19:56It balances the camp with the horror better than the first one
- 20:00I think. Yeah, absolutely.
- 20:02That Toby Hooper is adamant that the first one is like, it has
- 20:07black comedy in there. Yeah, I don't think it lands and
- 20:13I don't like. Clearly people don't see it that
- 20:16way either because nobody thinks of it as a comedy.
- 20:18I. Forget where it was.
- 20:19I either heard or read it somewhere.
- 20:21But it was like Toby Hooper's like, yeah, no, the first one's
- 20:23a black comedy and nobody believed him.
- 20:25So when he did Texas Chainsaw too, he was like, it's a fucking
- 20:29comedy. That's exactly what he did.
- 20:31He leaned into it more as a result.
- 20:33I mean, the poster has The Breakfast Club.
- 20:36Yes. Mock up.
- 20:37You know, they are trying to tell you don't take the Yeah.
- 20:41But I like that they I feel like they handle that balance really
- 20:44well because we have those crazy moments with Dennis Hopper,
- 20:46especially whenever he has the chainsaw.
- 20:47I was like testing on the the stump outside the chainsaw
- 20:51store. And there's just so much about
- 20:54it. The cast is really fun.
- 20:57I think that they all have a good chemistry.
- 20:59They're all funny together, too. Especially Bill Mosley.
- 21:02He, like, really shines in this movie.
- 21:04And Chop Top is his favorite character.
- 21:06And you can tell explain that kind of character.
- 21:09It stands apart from the sequel. It's not a total rehash,
- 21:14although they rehash some moments, especially the ending,
- 21:18but I feel like it stands apart on its own.
- 21:21I OK is. That that's a good transition in
- 21:24the past, yes. OK, let's do it.
- 21:26I think the third act is basically a rehash of the first.
- 21:29It is maybe it's rehash. It is third act and it it.
- 21:31Suffers because of that, Yes, because I that's my least
- 21:34favorite part of the first one. Because we get to it and I'm
- 21:37like, oh, OK, so we're gonna tie her up and she's gonna be at
- 21:40family dinner and then grandpa's gonna try and hit her and then
- 21:42she's gonna manage to run away. It's drawn out still and I I,
- 21:47it's like, but guys, this was the joke.
- 21:49The 1st movie, remember? Here it is again.
- 21:50Well, you were able. You're allowed to laugh this
- 21:52time. It's like Toby, this wasn't the
- 21:54thing that really was. Yeah, it wasn't that great the
- 21:56first time. Yeah, it yeah, it just it that
- 21:59didn't land with me. Also like the first one, there
- 22:03was a lot of like undertones with it, like politically.
- 22:07Yeah. You know, and I think that's
- 22:10part of what makes it like so long lasting and effective and
- 22:13what makes it resonate. You can tell that's not the same
- 22:17in this one. Yeah, yeah.
- 22:20I mean, it doesn't have a message.
- 22:21It just wants to be wacky. Yeah, and not every movie has to
- 22:24have a message. It's just it's it makes it feel
- 22:28cheaper. Well, you come off the first one
- 22:31where you have the and then you go into this one and it like, I
- 22:34mean, it's a serious movie and then it's a not serious movie.
- 22:38So there's like a, I don't know, like you hold it to a different
- 22:43standard than like a sequel to like, Scream or something.
- 22:46You know what? I mean, yeah, Whereas Scream is
- 22:47always like trying to look at something current with its
- 22:50sequel. But it's always got that.
- 22:52It's clearly got like the wink nudge, yeah, where it's like,
- 22:55you know, with the audience is in on a lot of stuff.
- 22:57Yeah. So this one is just, I don't
- 23:00know it that's a big part of the tonal shift.
- 23:02And I don't think it's necessarily like I'm happy for
- 23:06it to be much more comedic and much campier, but like that
- 23:10aspect of the tonal shift is a little off for me.
- 23:13It was a. Little bit part of what made it
- 23:15a fun. Movie.
- 23:15Yeah, it takes away something like the cleverness behind it.
- 23:18Yeah, yeah. The very first thing I had
- 23:20written down was dinner scene in parentheses again, like, yeah,
- 23:23it happened again. I will argue that they did punch
- 23:26it up a little bit because we do have Dennis Hopper coming in
- 23:29battling Texas or not battling Texas chainsaw battering,
- 23:32battling Leatherface with a chainsaw.
- 23:35It's a shame that Texas battle is not in a Texas Chainsaw
- 23:38Massacre movie. Now, I won't say that will never
- 23:41happen because they are still going both both parties.
- 23:45But yeah, it it just lacks the grit of the first one.
- 23:50And the grit was one is like half of the charm of the first
- 23:53one of what made it so good. Yeah.
- 23:56And like, I know that they're going for comedy and I know that
- 23:59they're going for wacky, but a lot of the humor this time still
- 24:02doesn't land for me. OK?
- 24:04It's still not like, super funny in my eyes.
- 24:06OK, all right, time for ugly. My ugly is all of them making
- 24:12fun of N, right? They know that there has been
- 24:16various chainsaw massacres throughout Texas.
- 24:20Are you talking about the cops? Yeah, and the and the newspapers
- 24:25and everybody's just making fun of this man who's like, hey, my
- 24:29family disappeared 12 years ago, y'all haven't done shit and
- 24:34people continue to be killed by chainsaw as this is SUS.
- 24:37What? Let me ask you, what was his
- 24:39relation to them? I think he said he was like
- 24:41their uncle. That's what I thought too, but
- 24:44then I saw where some people are confused and think that they're
- 24:47like brother or sister, but I didn't.
- 24:50They said uncle. I thought they said uncle I
- 24:53wrote Ken in my notes cuz I mean.
- 24:55Yeah, I mean that that fits. But yeah, I I feel like I heard
- 25:00him say uncle. I'm pretty sure he did, yeah.
- 25:03OK, but. Yeah, I just like this man is.
- 25:07It's not like he's given some grand conspiracy theory, you
- 25:11know what I mean? I mean, there are like
- 25:12verifiably Chainsaw Massacre is happening throughout Texas.
- 25:16People should be concerned. Yeah, like, if nothing else,
- 25:19it's an unsolved murder of his family.
- 25:21Of course he's going to be upset.
- 25:23You know what I mean? Like it's just weird that
- 25:24they're all like, look at this idiot.
- 25:26Yeah, it's a little bit strange. My ugly is the fact that Drayton
- 25:31Sawyer is feeding people to people who are unaware that they
- 25:35are eating people. Yeah.
- 25:37Just making them participate in cannibalism is kind of nasty,
- 25:42yeah. Pretty shitty yeah.
- 25:43You know what? Non consenting cannibalism I'd
- 25:46also agree is ugly. I will admit though, that is one
- 25:48of the funny things in this movie that I do think is funny.
- 25:52Like when you cut to him winning the trophy for like best
- 25:54showing, it's pretty good I. Think it's really gross that
- 25:58they poured the chili on the top of the trophy.
- 26:01Yeah, it is really. Gross.
- 26:02Yeah. And.
- 26:03Then they find like a bone, like a finger or something in one of
- 26:06them too. It's nasty.
- 26:09OK, absurd. I got several.
- 26:12Let's roll. So the first one is the
- 26:15Leatherface does a little dance and he looks like one of those
- 26:18little solar powered hula figures every time he dances.
- 26:21Yeah, because he's like. That's like the iconic thing.
- 26:26It started in this movie. Yeah, it just, that's all I can
- 26:29see every single time. So we've got that.
- 26:32We've got Stretch keeping L GS face on until he dies.
- 26:38Like like they're talking and they're yeah, and they're
- 26:43interacting the whole time. And then after he dashes like I
- 26:47guess I should take off his face and like it back.
- 26:49It's like now it's. Disrespectful.
- 26:51Yeah. It was cool before.
- 26:53Yeah, it was. It was kind of funny for him to
- 26:56see his own face, so I'm sure it comforted him in his final
- 26:59moments. And then finally is, oh God,
- 27:04what is his fucking name? The cook Dead Drayton when he's
- 27:09driving back to their like homestead and he's got the radio
- 27:15on in the RV, but it's literally like a box radio.
- 27:20It's not the RV's radio. Yeah, I didn't even catch.
- 27:23Yeah. So those are my absurd several,
- 27:28as you can see. OK, I one of them ones that I
- 27:33had was in right choosing to fight fire with fire in the way
- 27:36that he did. Like he was like OK, chainsaw
- 27:40massacres. Go to the chainsaw store, get 3
- 27:42chainsaws. That'll beat their one chainsaw
- 27:45surely? I like that he put them on his
- 27:47little like holster instead of like blitz.
- 27:50I like it, too. Yeah, it's a cool setup.
- 27:52And I love that scene of him just going out there and just
- 27:55going at this tree while the store owner is just like
- 27:59laughing maniacally to the side over there.
- 28:02It's kind of weird. It's a little strange.
- 28:04Dude, if you were the store owner and you saw that guy doing
- 28:07that, he had a chance on his hands.
- 28:10I wouldn't do anything to provoke him.
- 28:12No, Fuck no. But would I laugh?
- 28:14Would I think it's funny? Would I be like, into it?
- 28:18He seemed into it. Maybe he seemed really into it.
- 28:22I could see you having that reaction.
- 28:24No, I'm not gonna say I wouldn't.
- 28:26It's definitely possible. OK, so let's go on and raid it.
- 28:32I think this is, it's a really solid follow up.
- 28:34I think it's a lot of fun. I think it changes up the tone.
- 28:38You know, despite my bads, I think overall it's a really good
- 28:41sequel and I think I'm gonna give it a 7.
- 28:44OK, I'm right there with you. In terms of like, I think it's a
- 28:48good sequel. It's a good follow up it.
- 28:54Yeah, I like this one. I'd give it an 8.
- 28:57OK. I like the introduction of some
- 28:58of the characters they have like chopped up.
- 29:01All right, So we've got a 7.5 out of 10 as our starting
- 29:04average. All righty, so let's get on into
- 29:07this thing. All right, we start off with a
- 29:09recap of Part 1. Sally did survive, and she told
- 29:14her story before she went into a catatonia.
- 29:17No evidence was ever found, but in the past thirteen years,
- 29:19reports of chainsaw incidents have continued to come in
- 29:22throughout Texas. Yeah, they can never locate the
- 29:24family and they deemed everything fake.
- 29:28Which is wild considering the four other people that she was
- 29:32with are gone. Yeah.
- 29:34I mean, people died, yeah. And people are saying.
- 29:38People are talking and people are dying.
- 29:40There's people with chainsaw deaths that the cops are finding
- 29:45all right, so we cut to some hooligans.
- 29:48Yes, these are high school seniors.
- 29:50They're driving to big game. Yeah, it's Oklahoma versus
- 29:54Texas. Big, big rivalry.
- 29:56Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Boom sounder what that's what
- 30:00dude, it's one of there's a clip of that's what they that's the
- 30:05Oklahoma. What did you?
- 30:07Say boomer sooner, OK. Yeah, I just heard sounds.
- 30:11Because like King of the Hill, Boomhauer talks.
- 30:16That is how a lot of people, they actually talk.
- 30:18And there was a video of a bunch of Ohio, Oklahoma fans.
- 30:24People are getting their reaction to the game and there
- 30:27we go, Boomhauer. You know, you can't hear a
- 30:29single word that they're saying, but like people had to like
- 30:32break it down and comments like they're saying boomer sooner.
- 30:34Wow. That's the thing, yeah.
- 30:36It's a big thing. OK.
- 30:38Yeah. Anyways, I like the guy's
- 30:39glasses. He's got like those, like
- 30:41holographic glasses. I don't know.
- 30:44Those always stood out to me for some reason.
- 30:46But they're just like shooting signs with their guns and stuff
- 30:48like that. They are drunk little rascals,
- 30:51which is bad. Don't drink and drive.
- 30:54Do not. And yeah, like you said, they're
- 30:57shooting mailboxes and they decide they're gonna call into
- 30:59stretch at Red River Rock and they refuse to make a request,
- 31:02but they also refuse to hang up. And so they're just being
- 31:05menaces. They're being menaces, yeah, and
- 31:07there's a truck coming and they decide they're gonna play
- 31:10chicken. Also, I would like to point out
- 31:12that the truck does a little, yeah, it's like it's a short
- 31:16one, but it's a very definitive. I think it's fitting that that
- 31:19family has an Olga truck. Yeah, I mean, they're obviously
- 31:22if anybody's going to have an Olga horn in their truck, it's
- 31:26going to be the Sawyers. Yeah, the truck.
- 31:30Yeah, my God, you're about to laugh at me.
- 31:35But I just realized that Sawyer is felt with Saw.
- 31:39I've never noticed that you think that's intentional.
- 31:42Yeah. Were they?
- 31:45Was Sawyer ever mentioned in the first movie?
- 31:48I don't think so. I don't think it was either.
- 31:50OK, that fits with this here. That we didn't even get first
- 31:52names for the people in the first movie.
- 31:56Yeah, you're right, We didn't. Sawyer.
- 31:59Yeah, you got Sawyer, we got fucking Drayton, we got Bubba.
- 32:03Toby Hoover said. It's a fucking joke, you guys.
- 32:07Nubbins Yeah, yeah, yeah, we got some good people here.
- 32:11All right, so it is now sundown and.
- 32:14They call back again. Yeah, it's 8:11 PM and they are
- 32:19still on the phone with Stretch. She's trying to hang up on them
- 32:22but they can't for whatever reason.
- 32:24I don't know why they are unable to hang up a call.
- 32:27Yeah, I don't know what's happening.
- 32:28She's trying to get LG to handle it on his end of things.
- 32:32The truck is back and it's messing with them while they're
- 32:35on a bridge. And this is where I wrote that
- 32:38Grandpa was being held up with a chainsaw.
- 32:39Clearly this is Nubbins now that we know and Stretch and LG hear
- 32:45what is happening and they try to get them to hang out this
- 32:48time because they want to be able to call the cops because
- 32:50it's clearly something bad is happening.
- 32:52But instead they just hear a miniature massacre.
- 32:55This is, I believe, the one scene with Tom Morguez.
- 33:00My other face, yes. And this is the scene that
- 33:02Child's Play 20/19 showed as happening near the end of the
- 33:06movie. Yeah.
- 33:06Which is why we were like, no iconically opening scene.
- 33:10Yeah, it's a really good one too.
- 33:12I love this kill. I love cuz he just chainsaws
- 33:15right through the hood of the car and it like it saws the
- 33:18guy's head naff. Yeah, it like right, Yeah, right
- 33:21through. It is really, really well done.
- 33:23And then obviously the car is gonna crash after that.
- 33:25Yeah, so the Rangers are investigating the crash and we
- 33:29got in right there He is in the Sparrow.
- 33:32He's just kidding to the kids in Part 1 there.
- 33:36He's saying, you know, Dallas is always busy for this game every
- 33:39year and and right wants any and all information he can get about
- 33:45this crash. And the Rangers are like kind of
- 33:48making fun of him. And they're like, clearly this
- 33:50is just like drunk kids, like being stupid.
- 33:53And he's like, Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, I'm sure this kid just cut
- 33:56his own head open for fun. Yeah, you don't.
- 33:58And that shit doesn't just happen from a wreck, that kind
- 34:01of wreck at least. Yeah, you would see more
- 34:02evidence of something that would slice the head down like they
- 34:04would. Have they would have like close
- 34:06lines something it would. Have happened to the buddy also,
- 34:08yes. Yep.
- 34:10So Yep, they kind of just laugh him off, but then he puts his
- 34:13foot down and he like asks for them to keep them in the loop.
- 34:17Of everything. And he puts a call on the paper,
- 34:19which search sees, and she responds to his call for
- 34:22witnesses. And she's like, I got this tape.
- 34:25It's definitely sounds like what was happening when those kids
- 34:28died. I think you need to listen to
- 34:30it. I want to be a part of it.
- 34:33And, you know, maybe we can play it on air and get people to
- 34:36respond if they have any more information or we can even draw
- 34:39out the killers that way. It's like, I want to do
- 34:42something real. I want to be more than just like
- 34:45a schlocky radio DJ. And then Enright, who said he
- 34:48wants any and all witnesses to come forward, said get the fuck
- 34:51out of my hotel room. No, not this one though.
- 34:55Nah, Nah. Yeah, I have to go back out
- 34:59there with Toby Hooper. Who's out there, Wally gagging
- 35:01around in the hallways. He has a little cameo.
- 35:04Yeah, yeah, he's, he's a junk college kid ready for the game.
- 35:09So it's the Texas Oklahoma chili cooked off Drayton Sawyer.
- 35:14The cook wins the whole thing and they award him with the
- 35:17trophy and they put chili in it. And it's kind of upsetting,
- 35:20Yeah, he said. That his his trick, his secret
- 35:24to a word running chili is that you can't skimp on the meat.
- 35:28Too many people these days, they skimp on the meat.
- 35:30The meat is the key. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 35:33And LG and Stretch are covering it and I just like this moment
- 35:37cuz LG built Stretch a house made of fries.
- 35:39Yes. I like their, I like their
- 35:43relationship that they have. It's it.
- 35:48It feels real. Yeah, it really does.
- 35:51They have good chemistry. There feels like that's the type
- 35:52of stupid shit I could see, like do it for one of my friends and
- 35:55like, I built you a fry house. Yeah.
- 35:58So we now see Enright. He has arrived at Cut, right.
- 36:02It's a chainsaw shop and he goes in there and he weighs down $700
- 36:08in cash on a stump and then he goes.
- 36:11Over. That's how you know he means
- 36:13business. He.
- 36:14Is talking dude. OK, that's $700 in 80s money.
- 36:19I feel like $700 in 2025 money could buy us more than three
- 36:24chainsaws. OK, I really do feel like that.
- 36:28Inflation calculator. All right, let's let's find this
- 36:32out here. We're doing math on air, people.
- 36:35We can even choose the month. All right, so 1986, this is
- 36:40August. Yeah, I was gonna say it would
- 36:41be August or September. Yep, and this ain't February no
- 36:44more. This is March y'all.
- 36:47It's March when we're recording it, guys, yeah.
- 36:49Seven, that's right. No data available for months.
- 36:53I guess we got to go to February since that's the first complete
- 36:56month. That'd be 2000, just over $2000.
- 37:00All right, 2300 or $2000 and 30 shit $2036.07.
- 37:07I'm gonna open up my Lowe's app and I'm gonna type in chainsaws
- 37:10and I'm gonna tell you the price of the first 3 chainsaws I see.
- 37:13Chainsaw technology has advanced.
- 37:15It's quite a bit. Jesse.
- 37:16I feel like you can get maybe 3 chainsaws for 2000 bucks. 200
- 37:20dollars 479 dollars $189. OK, you can.
- 37:26We can get several more. But you know what?
- 37:28He went with quality over quantity.
- 37:31He could have charged in there with 10 different chainsaws, but
- 37:34he wanted to get three. Really good.
- 37:35Chainsaws, yeah, he got different lengths too.
- 37:37Like he was prepared. He got the one that he could jab
- 37:40at from a distance and then he got a short like pairing
- 37:44chainsaw. I I like it because he really
- 37:47does just go in there and test them out like with all the.
- 37:49Motions and the owner's like, do you want to miss the
- 37:53functionality? And he goes out and I don't feel
- 37:56like this is how you're supposed to use a chainsaw.
- 37:59He already bought him at that point, yeah.
- 38:02He's just whacking it against the law.
- 38:05Also, why do they have gas in them?
- 38:08That's a good idea. How?
- 38:10Like how high do you get walking into this store?
- 38:13Oh God. It's such a tiny and clustering.
- 38:15I think he walked in there wanting to have a reasonable
- 38:18normal transaction, but he got high and he's like, oh.
- 38:23You started attacking the log you.
- 38:24Just like 1 moment you walk into the store and next moment you're
- 38:27arrested because you blacked out and chainsawed 5 dead trees.
- 38:31Yeah, OK. That's why do people frequently
- 38:33get arrested for chainsawing dead trees.
- 38:35They. Should.
- 38:37OK, yeah. And if you disagree with that, I
- 38:40speak for the trees. Yeah, exactly.
- 38:42Yeah. Come on, people.
- 38:44All right. So, yeah, Stretch finds in right
- 38:48outside the studio. He was out there chilling,
- 38:50waiting for her. And then she's she's like, oh, I
- 38:54thought you didn't want to do the thing.
- 38:57You didn't want to play the tape.
- 38:58And then he's like, I need you. Yeah, he's like I, I I came to
- 39:02my senses after blacking out. I woke up and an epiphany.
- 39:06Yeah, I near death experience will do that to you.
- 39:10So just play the tape on air and we're gonna see if we can draw
- 39:13these people out. And she's like, I don't know
- 39:15that the FCC will let me do that.
- 39:18Yeah, he's like, well, the killers are in this area, OK,
- 39:21Based off of all the evidence where the things have happened,
- 39:24I've got it like in a triangle. They are here somewhere, so play
- 39:28the tape. Yeah.
- 39:29And so he's, you know, that's what they're going to run with.
- 39:33So she plays it as a request. That's how she kind of works
- 39:36around it. And I think that's interesting.
- 39:37And she says she's playing at the top of each hour for a lefty
- 39:41because he said that's his his nickname, what she can call him.
- 39:46Yeah, and then we see Drayton or the cook.
- 39:49He is driving home with this trophy and he gets a call.
- 39:53Surprised he has a car phone, doesn't seem like the type.
- 39:56Yeah, I mean, he's got the radio is just a boom box.
- 40:01Yeah, so. But it's, I assume Chop Top, who
- 40:05has called and told him that, hey, they're playing the
- 40:10recording of that on the air right now.
- 40:12So he tunes on and he ears it and he just swerves off the road
- 40:16into like somewhere to stop and collect the stats.
- 40:20It's midnight, which means it's time for Stretch to sign off.
- 40:24LG says that there have been a lot of angry callers about the
- 40:27tape. And she says, you know what,
- 40:29People complain about all the requests we play on a daily
- 40:31basis. So I mean, are we really going
- 40:34to specifically talk about this one?
- 40:37And he's like, how about we go get some food?
- 40:38And she's like, I got to wait for Lefty.
- 40:40And he was like, all right, well, I'm going to go get some
- 40:42coffee. She gets a call with no talking,
- 40:47which is always creepy. Somehow able to hang up.
- 40:51Yeah, yes. Wasn't able to figure that one
- 40:54out before. Yeah, I can figure out how to
- 40:55hang up before she can hang up now and then she hears some
- 40:58banging around in the office. And so she goes looking around
- 41:02and she finds someone who is who's ready to request to buy
- 41:06some airtime. That's what he wants to do.
- 41:08Man this is such a good reveal. This is a good introduction for
- 41:10a character. Chop top is great.
- 41:12Yeah, and he's like, yeah, me and Bubba, we listen to you
- 41:15every night. You're my.
- 41:16Favorite. He's like, music is my life,
- 41:19yeah. The peace sign he's got the
- 41:20little I, I think it's like a coat hanger.
- 41:22Yeah, it's a coat hanger that he keeps like lighting with his
- 41:26lighter and scratching his head with.
- 41:29Yeah, he's like peeling off a little bits of skin so he can
- 41:31see it. Yep, Yep, Yep, Yep.
- 41:34And he's like, boy, I sure would love a tour.
- 41:37And she's like, you want a tour? You want a tour?
- 41:39OK, we'll do a real quick tour. And inside the exit.
- 41:42And she's like, this is foam fax machine lamp exit sign.
- 41:46Yeah. EXIT.
- 41:50MOON that spells exit. I just like this interaction
- 41:56between them here. And then she's like, all right,
- 41:58goodbye, goodbye. She's like bye, and he's like
- 42:03bye and he goes. I really like what Lefties
- 42:06request earlier. That was that was real nice.
- 42:09That was musical. It was fascinating.
- 42:13And then that's when Leatherface burst out of the record.
- 42:17He hits chop top. Knocks his wig off.
- 42:19Knocks his wig off, dents his plate.
- 42:21Yep. As Stretch runs and she locks
- 42:22herself in a room and she's freaking out and she's just
- 42:27repeating what left. She told her earlier that they
- 42:28live on fear. They live on fear and she is
- 42:30trying to come up with a plan. The soft stalls as Leatherface
- 42:36is trying to get in the room and then we see LG has come back
- 42:39with his coffee and he sees chop top down there.
- 42:43Just total mayhem in the office. Things are scattered about
- 42:46broken. Favorite moment in the entire
- 42:48movie, maybe even the entire series.
- 42:50Just chop top looking at he's like, who the fuck are you?
- 42:54Lick my plate, you dog Dick. I'm sorry.
- 42:58I got it quoted every single time.
- 42:59It's one of the best things. It's so fucking funny and the
- 43:04letter face comes in. Here's the noise of LG there.
- 43:07And then they both just attack him.
- 43:08They. Yeah, they.
- 43:09Take a hammer and they start bludgeoning him.
- 43:11And you know what? This is another difference
- 43:13between this movie and the last one.
- 43:14This one gets gory. Yeah, it is gory.
- 43:17We see like a puddle of blood underneath his head here.
- 43:20You don't bring on Savini and not show the gore.
- 43:22No, you do not. So Leatherface goes back to try
- 43:28and get into the room that stretches in and he gives up on
- 43:31trying to unlock the door and. He goes around the side and saws
- 43:35through the door, which the wall, which is really smart.
- 43:38But also, when movies and shows like, burst through a door or a
- 43:42wall like that, they need to not have the camera close up on it
- 43:45because you can always tell that it's yeah, yeah, you.
- 43:47Can always see it's yeah, it's funny.
- 43:51And he backs her into a corner. She gets into this like tub of
- 43:55ice and beard and she is like cornered and then he.
- 43:59I may have the chainsaw as PP metaphor.
- 44:02Yep. He is just kind of like rubbing
- 44:04it up against around her crotch area and it's a little
- 44:07uncomfortable. Yeah.
- 44:08And I think he actually like, ejaculates.
- 44:11Yeah, I'm pretty. I think he gets mad that he
- 44:13comes. I will say, though, I think
- 44:15there's something so, like, vulnerable about Stretch in this
- 44:22moment where she is like, are you mad at me?
- 44:25Yeah. Like something about the way she
- 44:27like, screams that every time gets to me.
- 44:30Yeah, I mean, it's like, what the fuck are you?
- 44:32Why are you doing this? I mean she was playing a clip of
- 44:35them killing people so they're probably mad.
- 44:40And so he he's mad about his own semen and he destroys the room
- 44:45but leaves stretch alone and he comes out and chop top says you
- 44:48get her, Bubba. He nods and he's like, right,
- 44:50cool. Now nobody knows.
- 44:53So stretch is a word that they're getting away.
- 44:56But she has no way to like fall after.
- 44:58I mean, she does have a way to fall after she's got her Jeep,
- 44:59but she's waiting for lefty because he is late.
- 45:02He is way, way late. So eventually she ends up
- 45:05deciding that she's just going to follow him.
- 45:08I yeah every time we have watched this, every single
- 45:11fucking time I have missed that they are in like a defunct
- 45:14amusement park. I've always just thought that
- 45:17they had a really weird like Disney esque not on mountain
- 45:23doom type of. It's layer, yeah.
- 45:26I, I kind of forgot about that myself and then see.
- 45:29Not on Bald Mountain, Jesus. Yeah, I.
- 45:32Wouldn't we can't We can't record 3 episodes in a row.
- 45:35Again, this is bad for my brain. Anyway, yeah, it explains how
- 45:38they have such like a weird layer.
- 45:40Yeah, it's a nice setting, I think.
- 45:41I think I like that they Shaq up here.
- 45:44Yes, I am into it. I'm just very glad that now I
- 45:48have an explanation because I just thought somehow they found
- 45:51a mountain. I wouldn't put it, I wouldn't
- 45:54put it past this movie to do something like that.
- 45:56Yeah. So she follows them and they
- 45:58arrive there. They somehow do not notice that
- 46:01this person is right behind them, headlights on and all.
- 46:04I don't think they're especially concerned.
- 46:06I don't. Think they are either, yeah.
- 46:08They Yeah. So she gets out and she is
- 46:12trying to like follow them on foot, but then another car comes
- 46:15after her and it's chasing her and so she's running around and
- 46:19gets into this little like awning area and it's Lefty.
- 46:23I think it's so funny that she is freaking out the entire time
- 46:25when it's so obviously lefty. Like you can see him through the
- 46:28windshield so clearly. Yeah.
- 46:30He's a big old cowboy hat. He's like, sorry, I had to use
- 46:32you for bait, which first of all, we knew you were using her
- 46:35as bait, but like, why couldn't you be at this?
- 46:38Yeah, you could have just been camping out.
- 46:40Yeah, like, and right. Like, I don't think he deserved
- 46:44to get made fun of in the newspaper.
- 46:46And I think he was unnecessarily mean to her at the beginning,
- 46:50but he's also being unnecessarily mean to her now.
- 46:52He is, yeah. So he is there.
- 46:55He's armed with his three chainsaws and he charges in.
- 46:58Oh, and also, lefty or not, Lefty Stretch has fallen through
- 47:02a trap. Yes.
- 47:05So yeah, he's got his chainsaws and holsters on him, but in the
- 47:09ammo belt instead of having bullets, he's got spare chains,
- 47:13really. And I love that detail.
- 47:15That is cool. So fucking campy and stupid and
- 47:18I love it. Yeah, yeah, I think, I think
- 47:21he's probably one of the the cooler characters in the entire
- 47:25series. Yeah, no, he's kind of a piece
- 47:27of shit in some ways, but he's also really awesome in other
- 47:31ways. So this just makes up for you.
- 47:32He's a. Complicated man.
- 47:34Yeah, yeah, he, he's armed up. I like it.
- 47:37So he is charging him now and he is mad.
- 47:41He's very mad. Yeah, he is just tearing down
- 47:44the whole thing. He wants to take them all.
- 47:45Down he sees the wall bleeding. That's true.
- 47:47Which is a creepy thing to do, especially in something that's
- 47:50like a non paranormal normal movie.
- 47:52So you see this bleeding wall and like when he kind of like
- 47:54cuts it open, like guts just fall out and it's gross.
- 47:59I forgot about that, you're right.
- 48:00And so he decides I'm going to bring the building down once
- 48:04again. Fuck Stretch, am I right?
- 48:06Like he's in this building. To be fair he's also saying fuck
- 48:09me also because I mean there's no way he's going to survive
- 48:12this whole thing collapsing. And maybe he hasn't come down
- 48:14from his gasoline, huh? I think he is still high.
- 48:17You know, you don't act like this if you're not a little bit
- 48:20high. He's either high or probably
- 48:22both. Probably both.
- 48:23Yeah. All right.
- 48:24So yeah, he starts attacking support memes with his
- 48:26chainsaws, which somehow the Sawyers do not hear.
- 48:29Yeah, maybe they're just. Maybe they're hearing's just
- 48:31fucked. It's it's a pretty deep system.
- 48:35Yeah, I, I think he's far out at the moment.
- 48:38I think once the movie goes on, it gets a little bit absurd that
- 48:41they can't hear it. Stress wakes up and she hears
- 48:45the sawyer's feuding, as per usual.
- 48:48That's just how they talk to each other.
- 48:49It's. Just the cook chewing out the
- 48:51boys. You know how it be.
- 48:53And she is surrounded by bodies and she looks over and she sees
- 49:00leather faces prepping LG to cook, thighs stripping his skin.
- 49:07And she tries to back away and she knocks over some tools.
- 49:10So a leather face comes over and obviously he finds her.
- 49:12And she is like, hey, can you help me?
- 49:15Can you help me get out? And he's like, he nods.
- 49:20And then he picks her up and puts LG safe on her.
- 49:24And then a hat. And then he dances with her.
- 49:27Yeah, it's, you know, I think he, you know, he's got his
- 49:30girlfriend in his mind here and it's a little bit weird.
- 49:34Yeah, And then the ceiling starts crumbling and he's like
- 49:37love language. Yeah.
- 49:38He's like, uh oh, gotta go deal with that.
- 49:39I'm gonna tie you up here real quick.
- 49:41No big deal. If it collapses, we die in our
- 49:44love. It's fine.
- 49:44Yeah. Yeah, it's it's all good.
- 49:47So he runs to go check on it. And that's when I wrote, oh,
- 49:51fuck. LG is alive.
- 49:53Yeah, yeah, it's a it's a little bit shocking.
- 49:58I can't believe he has no face and she doesn't even recognize
- 50:04that it's LG. Yeah.
- 50:07Until she sees his tattoo. Yeah, sees his tattoo and he
- 50:10calls it darling. Yeah.
- 50:12And I think it's kind of shitty she couldn't recognize him with
- 50:16no face, but he recognized her with his face.
- 50:19Yeah, it is kind of weird, right?
- 50:20Yeah. It's a very one sided
- 50:22relationship it's starting to feel like.
- 50:24Yeah, and he gets up, he gets like a little knife or a blade
- 50:28or something and cuts off her. Like her, the rope that's
- 50:31holding her. Yeah.
- 50:32And then he falls back on the bed and dies, and she gently
- 50:36places his face. Face and hat.
- 50:38Yeah, now that he's dead, he deserves.
- 50:41It. Yeah, yeah.
- 50:42So the cook is blaming Bubba for the beams collapse in which you
- 50:46know. Yeah, he's like, dude, you're
- 50:48always swinging around that chainsaw.
- 50:49This was bound to happen. Dude like he's exposed.
- 50:52You so many times you got to chill.
- 50:54It's like in the 1st place it's like, OK fine, I chainsawed the
- 50:56door one time and now I'm responsible for everything.
- 50:59It's you with Talia when she gets real excited with her toys,
- 51:03and she almost always knocks over your Coke.
- 51:06Yeah, and you're like Coca-Cola. Did you really?
- 51:17They're very different kinds of messes that you have to clean
- 51:19out. OK, OK.
- 51:24Yeah, It's not cocaine, people. It's Coca-Cola.
- 51:28The Bever. So yeah, it's it's a similar
- 51:33kind of energy. Yeah, it is.
- 51:35Yeah. So the beams are like the
- 51:39damage, they're starting to notice that there's like some
- 51:41shaking going on. They sick leather on Leatherface
- 51:45on them. So they're like, OK, go
- 51:46investigate. Go figure out what the hell is
- 51:48happening out here. Drain's also really mad because
- 51:51apparently they've had some bad meat lately, so that's a whole
- 51:56other thing that they have going on.
- 51:57Stretch is trying to run out and she's running between tunnels
- 52:00and they spot her, and so that's when Leatherface is told to go
- 52:06follow her. I like.
- 52:07The reaction to that? And like, what the hell was
- 52:09that? They're like that felt genuine,
- 52:12was like and they're in the middle of they're like family
- 52:14squabble, blaming each other for the house falling down.
- 52:16And then they see just like a person run through and they're
- 52:19like, what? And then this is where we see
- 52:22Lefty. He's like wandering around, and
- 52:25for some reason the Sawyers have brought Franklin skeleton and
- 52:30wheelchair with the like flashlight still in his little
- 52:34delete old hand. I don't.
- 52:35Think they ate them. I think they just killed him for
- 52:38sport. Yeah, I would think.
- 52:41I think Bubba killed him because it was convenient for him as he
- 52:45was like chasing the kids. He was scary.
- 52:46Yeah. He was left alone.
- 52:47Yeah, it was in the. Middle of the night.
- 52:49It was scary. He's protecting his own.
- 52:50Yeah, but I think it's really funny that like, he sees that
- 52:54and he's in me like Franklin, but the next shot we see
- 52:59somebody else in a wheelchair. It could have been anybody.
- 53:04Maybe that was their heirloom flashlight in Franklin's hand.
- 53:08It. Could have been, it could have
- 53:09been, you know, who knows? It says like S harvesty on it
- 53:15so. Yeah, yeah.
- 53:16Instead of, you know, for them, it's not the Sauce family, the
- 53:19widest family. Yeah.
- 53:20And it has like a little engraving on there too.
- 53:22Yeah, cuz it's like a battle of like dark versus light.
- 53:25Oh. Yeah, there we go.
- 53:27We're getting some meaning in this after all.
- 53:28All right, right, so stretch season, right?
- 53:32Chainsawing his way through the place and Weather Face manages
- 53:36to catch up to her. Yeah, and she breaks up with
- 53:39him. She was like, you know what?
- 53:41It's not working out. Cuz like in right, like he was
- 53:44right there on the other side and he chainsawed a part where
- 53:46like it caused the collapse and it separated them.
- 53:50So she's trapped there when her face catches up and yeah, they
- 53:54have that interaction. The rest of the gang shows up.
- 53:57They're like, go ahead, finish her, finish her.
- 54:00And then that's when they realized that Bubba's got a
- 54:03crush on Stretch. And then this is where the cook
- 54:06says sex as well. Nobody knows but the saw.
- 54:10The saw is family, Yeah. Yeah, this is a strange scene.
- 54:15I don't know why I have in here sex spelled SC.
- 54:18Oh, because that's. How SCE?
- 54:21XX I'll tell you all about it. How does this family go on when
- 54:26they're all obviously virgins? They had skex together.
- 54:33They don't teach you all about Skex.
- 54:35Talk about you and me. Let's talk about skecks, baby.
- 54:40My God. Yeah, we're getting loopy here.
- 54:49Have we been huffing gasoline fumes?
- 54:51I think so. All right, so they order him to
- 54:56finish her and he refuses. And then, yeah.
- 54:59That's true. They knock her out and she wakes
- 55:01up and she's tied up to a table. Again at the ending.
- 55:04Of the 1st movie Grandpa joins again and then they say
- 55:07grandpa's the best in the business so. 37 years old.
- 55:10Yeah. And so they got to have him hit
- 55:14her over the bucket and they didn't learn anything from Sally
- 55:18because she's same shit. Yeah, it's the same shit.
- 55:21And so obviously she ends up getting free.
- 55:23I'd. Argue that the grandpa's better
- 55:25this time. Yeah, it takes fewer trials, it
- 55:28seems. And then they hear Lefty, he
- 55:32comes out, he saws Drayton's butt a little bit.
- 55:37You know, I think that's funny because he does that and then
- 55:40like he later, he's like, you know what?
- 55:42That fixed something. I don't have to go to the doctor
- 55:44anymore. He free stretch who then is like
- 55:48fighting chopped top and then lefty fights Leatherface.
- 55:54I I like his intro too because like you can hear him in the
- 55:56distance, like going, bringing in the sheaves, bringing in the
- 56:00sheaves. And so he gets Leatherface in
- 56:05the gut. Yeah, straight up, Yeah.
- 56:09The cook is like under the table this whole time, and he's like,
- 56:11all right, well, this is all fucked.
- 56:12It's over with. He's like, where's the Nubbins?
- 56:14He grabs the Nubbins and he Nubbins has a grenade on him.
- 56:19Yeah, which OK, I guess. That tracks with what the
- 56:22hitchhiker would have had. He probably had that grenade in
- 56:24his bag the 1st. Movie.
- 56:26How? Much more intense of the 1st
- 56:28movie be if he pulled out a grenade instead of the knife.
- 56:31Yeah, that would have been amazing, but he pulls the pin.
- 56:36Stretch is climbing out of the like attraction or whatever it
- 56:40is, and Chop top is following her and she gets to the very,
- 56:43very top of this stair. Yeah, I don't, I don't know what
- 56:48it is. And she finds Grandma, Grandma
- 56:52skeleton is up there with a chainsaw and chop top comes in
- 56:56and he is like threatening her. And he like does like small
- 56:59shallow cuts to his neck just to be like, I'm unhinged and I'm
- 57:02fine with taking you out with me.
- 57:04And then stretch takes the chainsaw from Grandma.
- 57:06And he's like for you now. He's like you leave Grandma
- 57:08alone. Apparently that kills her.
- 57:10Like I think grandma was alive still technically by their
- 57:13standards. She was cobwebbed.
- 57:15But he says you killed her right here.
- 57:18I don't know, like the other dudes, 137 years old and he's
- 57:21someone I think grandma might be alive.
- 57:25Not anymore, obviously. Yeah, so she ends up cutting him
- 57:29and he falls out of The Cave entrance.
- 57:31And then she kind of mirroring the ending of the first one.
- 57:34She's out on the edge and she's screaming and swinging around
- 57:37with the chainsaw, and then there's an explosion.
- 57:40Yeah, yeah. And then that's where the movie
- 57:43ends right there. You know, I they I feel like the
- 57:47ending was still really good, like when things start, like
- 57:50when in right showed up. But I did have that wall there
- 57:57again. But I'm going to keep this at
- 57:59Nate. I still think it's a really good
- 58:01sequel. It's great.
- 58:02I will bump mine up to 7.5 and I'll.
- 58:07I'll say I feel like the humor actually did weigh in a little
- 58:09bit more than I remembered because I find myself laughing
- 58:12at some parts talking about it. Yeah, I think so.
- 58:16I think that made the right call cutting scenes, because I think
- 58:19if you added anything else to this, this movie would be just a
- 58:21soup of nonsense. If you're gonna cut anything,
- 58:23cut the dinner scene. Yeah, cut that down.
- 58:26That's the main thing is I wish the ending was different.
- 58:28Yeah, just like, just cut the dinner.
- 58:30Scene Yeah, we do not need the dinner scene.
- 58:32Just entirely cut that part. Yeah.
- 58:34Just have Inrite show up and then that's.
- 58:36Yeah, Inrite shows up. They're running through the
- 58:38tunnels. They eventually make their way
- 58:39like that's all we needed. Yeah, so and then you didn't
- 58:43even have to have the grenade like the thing just collapses
- 58:46because then, right, it's been cutting this 4 beams.
- 58:48Yeah, it all makes sense. Yeah.
- 58:50And that's our change right there.
- 58:50I guess, yeah. Yeah, OK, cool.
- 58:53All right. Who did you relate to?
- 58:57No, we got to do Italia's thing. Yeah.
- 58:59What's how you think of this? Well, Talia was sleepy, but then
- 59:04she was also showing her tummy, and then at the end she built a
- 59:06wall. I think she also didn't like she
- 59:08was like, we've seen the ending of this before.
- 59:11Like I don't want any of this. I think Talia, All in all, I
- 59:16think she had a good time up until the end.
- 59:18So 2 thirds 6 1/2 out of 10. OK, that's not bad.
- 59:24Yeah, yeah, Zoe's ultimate warrior.
- 59:29All right, we agreed we're not gonna do Texas.
- 59:31Or why don't we keep going and calling Texas Chainsaw?
- 59:34We're not gonna do Weather Face. I think, I think she kind of
- 59:42respected the wait and write attacked that log.
- 59:45That's what I'm thinking too, honestly.
- 59:47Yeah, that's her on the weed ball that I.
- 59:50Have out there. That's how she goes for that.
- 59:52Yeah, we've got a little cabinet ball.
- 59:54Yeah, it's like on its own little holder, and it gets them
- 59:58real riled up. Uh huh.
- 59:59Yeah. OK.
- 1:00:02All right. Now who's you relate to?
- 1:00:04Oh boy, I guess, I guess I relate to LG just building fry
- 1:00:11houses and going and getting coffee for people.
- 1:00:15Yeah OK. Not knowing how to hang up
- 1:00:18phones, that's. Me.
- 1:00:19That's just who I be. That's just who I am.
- 1:00:21Fry houses and get coffee. From Yeah, yeah.
- 1:00:25That's why we love you. Yeah, that's that's what makes
- 1:00:28me a good friend and life partner.
- 1:00:30That's. True, that's true.
- 1:00:31This is why I married you. Yes.
- 1:00:34All right, let's see, who did I relate to?
- 1:00:42Come. On you've had a whole extra week
- 1:00:49to think about this. I haven't really.
- 1:00:51It's not like I had extra time compared to you.
- 1:00:55I don't know, there's some weird people in this.
- 1:00:58I'll go with the the fucking guy at the beginning wearing the
- 1:01:01glasses because I like those glasses.
- 1:01:04I think I had that pair of glasses whenever I was a kid.
- 1:01:07I I find it fascinating that you had a pair of glasses like that
- 1:01:11and when I said I was going to get you ye glasses, you're like,
- 1:01:13but you wouldn't be able to see out of that.
- 1:01:15Obviously it's a similar. Jesse, I was fucking 8 whenever
- 1:01:19I had those glasses. Not the age of today, 32 for
- 1:01:26those wondering. I'm.
- 1:01:28Gone OK. Yeah, OK.
- 1:01:30We're getting we, we've been recording too long.
- 1:01:32We've first time we've done like a three for OK in a.
- 1:01:36Long time. Yeah.
- 1:01:37So we don't do dream sequels with our franchises?
- 1:01:39No. But for Texas Chainsaw, we are
- 1:01:42coming up with nicknames to help me remember which one's which.
- 1:01:46Uh huh. So I guess this one hmm what's
- 1:01:54the thing that stands out most of you?
- 1:01:56Cuz this is to help. You this is the chop top.
- 1:01:58One chop top. Yeah.
- 1:02:00So yeah, Texas Chainsaw 2 chop tops ascent.
- 1:02:08Is ascent. Yeah, OK, sure.
- 1:02:11OK, chop. Tops or the rise and fall of
- 1:02:14chop top? That sounds epic.
- 1:02:16There we go that that is an epic.
- 1:02:17Right there, the rise. And Fall of Chop Top A Texas
- 1:02:20Chainsaw Massacre story. All right tagline.
- 1:02:25I like your. The solo is the law.
- 1:02:28I really do like that, especially with him being like a
- 1:02:31like a, is he a Texas stranger? I don't.
- 1:02:34Think so. I don't know what his.
- 1:02:36Stranger. Maybe he used to be, but not
- 1:02:39now. Well, yeah, OK, Either way, I
- 1:02:41think that's a really good one. All right, so I guess it's time
- 1:02:45to do reviews. Yeah, it is.
- 1:02:46Okie, Dokie. An extra week for people to send
- 1:02:49shit in. Yeah, and we actually did get an
- 1:02:51extra 1 in that time, so that worked out.
- 1:02:55So I pulled up a review from IMDb.
- 1:02:58Yeah, yeah, yeah. I forgot.
- 1:02:59We have to do that part first. It is a three out of 10.
- 1:03:02It's titled I'm starting think the genius of the first one was
- 1:03:06an anomaly for Hooper. OK.
- 1:03:10I really wanted to get into this.
- 1:03:12I love crazy, I love the original, I love funny horror, I
- 1:03:15love Dennis Hoppery, yet I just couldn't find my way into this.
- 1:03:19I guess it's supposed to be a comedy, but I mostly just found
- 1:03:22it obnoxious. I like some of the disgusting
- 1:03:24visuals, and there were certainly some funny lines.
- 1:03:27However, in the end, it is just too much of the bright chaos of
- 1:03:31Canon productions and not enough of the dark insanity of the
- 1:03:34original. And you know what?
- 1:03:36I felt like that was like a fitting review right there
- 1:03:38because I I can see that being disappointing for.
- 1:03:41People, you know, I did say one of the things I disliked was
- 1:03:44that it didn't feel like it was telling a story, like it didn't
- 1:03:47have a deeper meaning. Yeah.
- 1:03:49And same like I didn't have the grittiness of the first one with
- 1:03:52one of my things for it too. But yeah, I mean it, it leaned
- 1:03:56too much into the comedy direction for a lot of people
- 1:03:59and I think that's what's off putting about this one.
- 1:04:01OK, and I've heard people mention Canon films before.
- 1:04:04Like I think I heard Chad and Joe talking about them.
- 1:04:08I'm not familiar with that type of movie, so I don't know if
- 1:04:11this is like the type of film they usually pump out where it's
- 1:04:16weird bananas type shit. I'm into that.
- 1:04:20But Texas Chainsaw was a weird one for it to go in that
- 1:04:22direction. Yeah, I'll agree with that.
- 1:04:26OK, all right, let's go to the listener reviews on Instagram.
- 1:04:32Kubesafe says chop top is top tier.
- 1:04:36That's a mouthful, but also correct.
- 1:04:38It is and it is correct. Yeah.
- 1:04:40Chop Top is one of the best characters in the series.
- 1:04:42I love that guy. And the final review it's Chad.
- 1:04:48Chad says. Dude, I just rewatched Texas
- 1:04:52Chainsaw Massacre 2 and holy shit is that movie wow.
- 1:04:54Seems like Rob Zombie got its own of his aesthetic for from
- 1:04:57this flick. Intense, abrasive and bonkers.
- 1:05:00I can see if folks don't dig this film, but I love it and it
- 1:05:03does what I want a sequel to do. Pays homage to what came before,
- 1:05:06doing its own thing. I do wonder what Dennis Hopper's
- 1:05:10cocaine budget was on this. 8.5 out of 10.
- 1:05:14Chad, he didn't need cocaine. He had gasoline fumes.
- 1:05:18Yeah, and I I would have always packed them as being drunk
- 1:05:21during this movie. Yeah, I just, I don't know.
- 1:05:25I do think it's fun. I do think it's a fun sequel.
- 1:05:27I do think it's a little bit different from the first one,
- 1:05:31but I'm not necessarily opposed to that.
- 1:05:34It's just it's a shift which if you don't know is coming, can be
- 1:05:38abrupt. But when you do know, then you
- 1:05:40can just enjoy it for what it is.
- 1:05:42It's just one of those ones where the first one was so good,
- 1:05:44it had a lot to live up to. Yeah.
- 1:05:47So if it's another horror movie like a Friday the 13th that went
- 1:05:51in this direction, that'd be a little bit more forgiving
- 1:05:55because Friday 13th wasn't like, as big, you know what I mean?
- 1:05:59Yeah, I mean, it was big, but like, it didn't.
- 1:06:02I don't know. It wasn't as like, serious, you
- 1:06:04know what I mean? The first one felt serious to
- 1:06:06me. Yes, yes, OK.
- 1:06:09All right, that's it for that. So that means that's it for this
- 1:06:12week's episode. Next week I don't have a wear to
- 1:06:16watch for you yet because it's still the end of March and stuff
- 1:06:19rolls over at the beginning of the month, but reduce are
- 1:06:22already real. Yeah, that that was a request
- 1:06:24that we received and we are more than happy to oblige.
- 1:06:28Yeah, it's one we've been wanting to do for a while
- 1:06:30anyway. And it's just been a matter of
- 1:06:31like, figuring out where to fit it into the schedule and because
- 1:06:34we had to shift stuff around and we both love that movie.
- 1:06:38It just it felt like the right time.
- 1:06:39Yeah, yeah, I'm into it. So if you can watch it,
- 1:06:43definitely check it out. If you haven't seen it before,
- 1:06:45it's a remake of the original. Yes, it's a remake of The House
- 1:06:49on Sorority Row. Yeah, yeah.
- 1:06:52But it's a good time. Yeah, so check it out.
- 1:06:53We're excited to talk about it. In the meantime, we would like

- 1:07:47the month. Yeah, but I've already mailed
- 1:07:48these back in March because this the cover for this has been done

- 1:09:07Production on the movie started after a successful theatrical
- 1:09:12with the theater. Well, obviously production
- 1:09:16started after a successful theatrical run in 1981 for the
- 1:09:20original Texas Chainsaw Massacre.
- 1:09:23Thank you. I I cut the original part, but
- 1:09:25you know, I'm just going to keep it on.
- 1:09:27Yeah. I mean, that's a good, good
- 1:09:28blooper at the end. That's true.
- 1:09:30OK, bye. If this makes it to the end,
- 1:09:33yeah.
