- 1:48Speaker 1: activity around one Veronica not plas. Yeah she's self combusting.
- 1:55Speaker 1: Yeah she's showing us who she really is. But we
- 1:58Speaker 1: have been knowing who Veronica is. We've been calling it out,
- 2:01Speaker 1: but like, she doesn't like that, and so we're going

- 2:34Speaker 1: wanted this world, and I just feel like maybe you
- 2:37Speaker 1: could co manifest with us, says. We both envision a
- 2:42Speaker 1: world where we have six thousand.
- 2:44Speaker 2: It would be great.
- 2:45Speaker 1: Six thousands awsome. So if you could do all that,
- 2:49Speaker 1: that'd be awesome. Thank you in.
- 2:53Speaker 2: Thinks.
- 2:55Speaker 1: Now, before we get into it, I do have to
- 2:56Speaker 1: ask you, my sweet baby, what is is your main
- 3:00Speaker 1: takeaway from this latest episode of Welcome to Ancient plath Ville.
- 3:06Speaker 2: Dude, Ethan, this episode, wow, is absolutely insane, like so
- 3:12Speaker 2: fucking rude, so beyond socially inappropriate. I'm like wondering if
- 3:18Speaker 2: he's drinking in that coffee cup that he keeps holding.
- 3:20Speaker 1: Well, why are you wondering?
- 3:22Speaker 2: I mean, it's gonna be It's a sad thing.
- 3:23Speaker 1: Jack.
- 3:24Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm just like, dude, what are you doing? You're
- 3:27Speaker 2: making such an ass out of yourself. I just I
- 3:30Speaker 2: really don't like it.
- 3:31Speaker 1: No, it's terrible. Yeah, it's homophobic.
- 3:34Speaker 2: Yeah, it's awful, definitely.
- 3:36Speaker 1: And I'm just wondering what's going on in that peaceized
- 3:40Speaker 1: brain of yours, Ethan, that would give you the impression
- 3:44Speaker 1: that it would be okay to do and say the
- 3:46Speaker 1: things that you have done. It's wild in this season.
- 3:50Speaker 1: My takeaway is I just want to send up the
- 3:53Speaker 1: flare again. It's going up? Can everybody see it? Something's
- 3:56Speaker 1: wrong with Mariah Plath Oh yeah, Now Obviously there's been
- 4:01Speaker 1: something wrong a little bit with Mariah Plath, and she's
- 4:04Speaker 1: got her own issues, but like, I feel that all
- 4:07Speaker 1: of that has been amplified over the last year. I
- 4:11Speaker 1: don't know if it's because of her weird relationship with
- 4:14Speaker 1: that married guy with a kid. I don't know if
- 4:16Speaker 1: it's because of the alopecia and everything, which is I
- 4:20Speaker 1: can't even imagine. It's got to be terribly, terribly hard.
- 4:24Speaker 1: But we see her drinking in this episode, which I
- 4:26Speaker 1: don't know if we've ever I know she's been in
- 4:29Speaker 1: a bar.
- 4:30Speaker 2: Yeah, I think she'd drink a little bit last season,
- 4:33Speaker 2: but we didn't see much of it. But this time
- 4:35Speaker 2: it's like you're drinking a whole big old glass of.
- 4:36Speaker 1: Wine and she's asking for more wine. We also see
- 4:40Speaker 1: her with kind of a busted wig, like her wig
- 4:43Speaker 1: is looking weird. Is it her hair?
- 4:44Speaker 2: I don't know if that's her wig yet. I think
- 4:46Speaker 2: she still has her hair because she still has her
- 4:48Speaker 2: eyelashes on one eye. Oh so I don't think she's
- 4:51Speaker 2: lost her hair yet.
- 4:52Speaker 1: Okay, and I don't want to really even talk about that,
- 4:54Speaker 1: but like, whatever she's doing with her hair, like she's
- 4:56Speaker 1: not necessarily taking care of it or herself. She seems
- 5:00Speaker 1: really thin. I don't want to comment on her body
- 5:02Speaker 1: because I don't know if there's anything else going. But
- 5:03Speaker 1: there's just like all of these things together plus her
- 5:06Speaker 1: very morose affect. I know, the way she speaks, the
- 5:10Speaker 1: way she's so timid, the way she's got a little
- 5:12Speaker 1: girl voice, I know is very concerning to a mommy
- 5:17Speaker 1: like me. Like, I'm like, what's going on with you?
- 5:20Speaker 1: It's giving trauma response, It's giving somebody has abused you,
- 5:24Speaker 1: and I don't know that it's potato head. I'm wondering
- 5:26Speaker 1: how far back we go into your childhood to get
- 5:29Speaker 1: to that abuse. I'm just concerned for her, and she's
- 5:33Speaker 1: just she doesn't want to be around these people. And
- 5:35Speaker 1: I don't blame her, Yeah, I literally don't blame her.
- 5:38Speaker 1: But and I'm just gonna say this and call me
- 5:42Speaker 1: out if you want to. I get it. But we
- 5:44Speaker 1: don't sensor here. But like, I just wondered if there
- 5:46Speaker 1: was something a little bit more than alcohol happening with her. Yeah,
- 5:50Speaker 1: just a little bit around the edges. There was some slurring,
- 5:54Speaker 1: there was a certain way of speaking and moving. I'm
- 5:57Speaker 1: just like, honey, Is there something else going on with
- 5:59Speaker 1: you besides the depression? Are you self medicating? What's happening?
- 6:03Speaker 1: Somebody helped Mariah Plath and she talks in this episode
- 6:07Speaker 1: about moving to Montana.
- 6:09Speaker 2: I know where did that come from?
- 6:10Speaker 1: Which then I went to her Instagram and she does
- 6:12Speaker 1: indeed have pictures of herself in what looks to be Montana.
- 6:15Speaker 1: I assume. So I feel like she's maybe relocated to
- 6:19Speaker 1: this strange, beautiful place, but by herself.
- 6:22Speaker 2: She's running away. She's running away from her problems. I
- 6:24Speaker 2: think she's running away from herself.
- 6:26Speaker 1: From her family or wack mass family.
- 6:28Speaker 2: Well, it's like it's weird because she moved in with
- 6:30Speaker 2: her family. I think she's just dealing with a lot.
- 6:33Speaker 2: I think mister Potato had sucked her up bad because
- 6:36Speaker 2: her brothers keep mentioning it.
- 6:38Speaker 1: I messed up, Like there is lacking a foundation inside
- 6:44Speaker 1: of her that she would be so wrecked after six
- 6:47Speaker 1: months with a married guy, Like, yeah, that sucks. Yeah,
- 6:51Speaker 1: you know a lot of us have had terrible relationships,
- 6:53Speaker 1: but like, are are we really this broken? Just because
- 6:56Speaker 1: of that? I feel like there's more going on. And
- 6:58Speaker 1: then when you compound that with abstances and I'm just
- 7:00Speaker 1: gonna say, I think there's substances, mainly alcohol, but like
- 7:04Speaker 1: substances flowing through the plath Clanya. I think they're all
- 7:09Speaker 1: them kids, well well not the little miners, but like
- 7:12Speaker 1: I think Ethan and Micah and Mariah, not Lydia, but
- 7:16Speaker 1: I think all of them are drinking, if not more Isaac,
- 7:20Speaker 1: even as well as we learn from the weddings, there's
- 7:22Speaker 1: just there's just it's just very concerning all the way around.
- 7:25Speaker 1: I'll shut up now, but I just want everybody. I know,
- 7:28Speaker 1: not everybody likes Mariah, I get it, but like, this
- 7:31Speaker 1: is a young woman who has a whole host of problems,
- 7:34Speaker 1: who comes out of a really troubled family structure, and
- 7:38Speaker 1: I just worry about this girl, I really do. I worry.
- 7:41Speaker 1: I worry about her.
- 7:42Speaker 2: I've always liked Mariah. I've always like rooted for her.
- 7:45Speaker 2: I'm definitely worried for her. I would not be surprised
- 7:47Speaker 2: if she's like doing drugs or something, because I mean,
- 7:51Speaker 2: the way she's acting, it's troubling. I'm worried for her.
- 7:55Speaker 1: Why is she taking all the blame with regard to Veronica,
- 7:57Speaker 1: who's truly a trash bag of a person. Okay, never mind,
- 8:00Speaker 1: never mind, let's get into the episode. We'll talk about
- 8:02Speaker 1: it when we get to it without further ado. Start
- 8:05Speaker 1: us off, Beatrice. We are on Welcome to plat Pill
- 8:08Speaker 1: season seven, episode four, entitled The Proposal.
- 8:13Speaker 2: This whole episode is about Lydia's proposal and leading up
- 8:16Speaker 2: to it. We start off with Lydia and Barry at
- 8:21Speaker 2: the Plath family home. Because Barry has concocted a little
- 8:24Speaker 2: storyline He's going to pretend like he's taking Lydia out
- 8:27Speaker 2: for dinner, like just a daddy daughter date type of
- 8:30Speaker 2: a thing. Lydia is completely oblidious because she's so naive. Interesting,
- 8:35Speaker 2: there's a lot of people wearing burgundy and black. I
- 8:37Speaker 2: just felt like, well, maybe people knew this could have
- 8:41Speaker 2: been like the producer version of the proposal, but I
- 8:44Speaker 2: don't know. Okay, they're pretending like Lydia is, you know,
- 8:49Speaker 2: completely oblivious to the real plan. She's getting ready to
- 8:53Speaker 2: go to dinner with her dad, and Lydia thinks that
- 8:58Speaker 2: Zach currently is in Colorado or like some going away
- 9:01Speaker 2: party for one of his friends or something. And this
- 9:03Speaker 2: is where Lydia kind of talks about like it's good
- 9:05Speaker 2: to spend time with my dad because I'm not going
- 9:07Speaker 2: to have much time left after I get married, because
- 9:10Speaker 2: she's planning to move to Colorado and uproot her life
- 9:14Speaker 2: and go live with Zach up there once they get hitched.
- 9:18Speaker 2: So they're getting ready for dinner, and then we head
- 9:21Speaker 2: over to the cabin that booty ass vacation rental cabin
- 9:26Speaker 2: and some weird forest haunted forest and kro.
- 9:29Speaker 1: I would love to own it.
- 9:30Speaker 2: Sorry, that freaking cabin though.
- 9:32Speaker 1: Well but yeah, but Barry and Kim have a lot
- 9:35Speaker 1: of property. They do. One of them is like a
- 9:37Speaker 1: little beautiful woodsy cabin they do. Yeah, I think it's great.
- 9:40Speaker 2: They own a lot of properties. That's great. But they're
- 9:42Speaker 2: at this cabin and everybody's there, like the whole family's there.
- 9:46Speaker 2: Zach had flown in from Colorado because he's gathering everybody up,
- 9:50Speaker 2: all of Lydia's family and some of her friends and
- 9:53Speaker 2: everything for this surprise proposal. And this is where shit
- 9:58Speaker 2: starts getting ten, like right off the bat, because Zach
- 10:04Speaker 2: is meeting Micah for the first time at this proposal,
- 10:09Speaker 2: which I have thoughts about that, but we'll get to
- 10:11Speaker 2: it in a little while. And it's awkward because Mike's like,
- 10:14Speaker 2: this is my first impression to this guy. Him and
- 10:17Speaker 2: Veronica both aren't really liking him at first. They're both
- 10:21Speaker 2: hardcore judging him, saying that he's not making a good
- 10:24Speaker 2: first impression at all because he's kind of like Boston
- 10:27Speaker 2: people around. I mean, it's his proposal day, so of
- 10:30Speaker 2: course he's directing people where to.
- 10:32Speaker 1: Go, and how he stays so kind of gives me
- 10:35Speaker 1: anxious attachment. And I think with anxious people there is
- 10:40Speaker 1: a deep seated need to try and control the environment
- 10:44Speaker 1: to make sure that things are stable and they can
- 10:47Speaker 1: navigate it. And so it just kind of seems to
- 10:49Speaker 1: me he was nervous, he was anxious. He was obviously
- 10:53Speaker 1: out in front of everybody doing this thing. And while
- 10:57Speaker 1: I can see how I guess some people might think
- 11:00Speaker 1: he was controlling, I didn't really think so. I thought
- 11:02Speaker 1: he just wanted everything to be perfect for his honey.
- 11:06Speaker 2: Sure, yeah I did.
- 11:08Speaker 1: I mean I would you have taken as much offense
- 11:11Speaker 1: as Ethan and Micah and Veronica did, Absolutely the fuck not.
- 11:15Speaker 2: I would have been socially appropriate. I would have been
- 11:17Speaker 2: totally happy. I would have done whatever Zach wanted me
- 11:20Speaker 2: to do, because what should have mattered to everybody here,
- 11:24Speaker 2: was that it's Lydia's big day. Yes, but no, we
- 11:26Speaker 2: have fucking Ethan. We have Ethan and Micah just immediately
- 11:32Speaker 2: trying to give Zach shit. You have Micah like rolling
- 11:35Speaker 2: down the hill trying to trip Zach and he just
- 11:38Speaker 2: jumps over him, like what the fuck are you doing?
- 11:40Speaker 2: Like you're older than me, let's act a little bit
- 11:43Speaker 2: more mature. Here. You have Kim trying to justify Ethan
- 11:47Speaker 2: and Micah's behavior as like, oh, they're just boys. Haha.
- 11:50Speaker 2: It's just like welcome to the Plath family and not
- 11:52Speaker 2: doing anything to try and control the situation or rein in.
- 11:58Speaker 1: Well, she doesn't really have that position anymore. She forfeited
- 12:02Speaker 1: the position of mother with any kind of authority. That's
- 12:05Speaker 1: a problem at the altar of her adultery and her
- 12:08Speaker 1: alcoholism and her sugar in the barn. So she really
- 12:11Speaker 1: doesn't have, you know, any room to tell anybody else
- 12:14Speaker 1: how to act. But like in that moment, nonetheless, as
- 12:17Speaker 1: a mom, you should have told your boys, hey, whyse up,
- 12:20Speaker 1: like get over here, stand in line, let's help, let's
- 12:23Speaker 1: get this together. This is for Lydia act right.
- 12:26Speaker 2: Yeah, And she's not doing any of that. She's just
- 12:28Speaker 2: stomping around in her mini skirt.
- 12:30Speaker 1: Oh, just like sidebar, side, please, sidebar, and please stop.
- 12:34Speaker 1: I'm gonna be I'm gonna be careful because I but
- 12:39Speaker 1: I just don't understand.
- 12:40Speaker 2: It's not flattering.
- 12:42Speaker 1: What's happening are we doing skirts? They're like athletic skirts,
- 12:48Speaker 1: they're like as leisure as it a squort. I mean,
- 12:51Speaker 1: what's happening? Are wed aware of the actual shape of
- 12:57Speaker 1: our body? What are we doing it?
- 13:00Speaker 2: I'm like, Kim, put some pants on for.
- 13:03Speaker 1: Your daughter Lydia's engagement.
- 13:05Speaker 2: I don't want to see you.
- 13:07Speaker 1: I want to I want to see your seriously, and
- 13:11Speaker 1: neither is Barry.
- 13:12Speaker 2: No, nobody wants to see that. I kind of wonder
- 13:15Speaker 2: if she's wearing it for Barry, and I'm like, Barry
- 13:17Speaker 2: ain't interested.
- 13:18Speaker 1: I was wondering too, when like they were speaking to
- 13:20Speaker 1: the camera together about the upcoming wedding and I was
- 13:23Speaker 1: checking Barry and he was being like, you know, very friendly.
- 13:26Speaker 1: But then there was Kim that she was kind of
- 13:28Speaker 1: giving an energy like Barry, I'm wearing the short skirt.
- 13:31Speaker 1: I mean, do you remember when he's like, way back
- 13:34Speaker 1: in the day we were in the gazebo and you
- 13:37Speaker 1: were French kissing me and it was so passionate. Barry's
- 13:40Speaker 1: like absolutely.
- 13:41Speaker 2: Not, no, we're done.
- 13:42Speaker 1: I don't really see you the sax moment.
- 13:44Speaker 2: That you went and left me and fucked Ken motherfucking Palmer.
- 13:48Speaker 2: I mean, Barry is so done, and I honestly love
- 13:52Speaker 2: it so much and not trying to like praise on
- 13:55Speaker 2: Barry because he's got his fucking problems, and I'm kind
- 13:57Speaker 2: of pissed off at him honestly for this whole like
- 14:01Speaker 2: giving lydeo way thing. I'm like, you're not being a
- 14:04Speaker 2: good dad, but like whatever, but like the fact that
- 14:08Speaker 2: Barry got jacked as fuck grew a beard, and Kim went.
- 14:14Speaker 1: The other way, went the other way, that's.
- 14:18Speaker 2: What we'll say, went the other way. And she's walking
- 14:21Speaker 2: around in these mini skirts. Then if you like just
- 14:24Speaker 2: bent over a little bit, we'd see your whole children.
- 14:27Speaker 1: She really doesn't need to bend over, I know, it's
- 14:29Speaker 1: just needs to lean a little bit against a tree.
- 14:33Speaker 1: And I'm seeing her uter stop it. K literally after
- 14:38Speaker 1: You're like you've been doing this for a few seasons now,
- 14:41Speaker 1: but like it's worse than ever.
- 14:43Speaker 2: Yeah, no, I wonder if she's like also like trying
- 14:46Speaker 2: to live vicariously through like some of the younger daughters,
- 14:49Speaker 2: because all of her daughters are so funny.
- 14:52Speaker 1: They are gorgeous, the absolute most beatific young ladies, like.
- 14:57Speaker 2: Legs, the days they can pull off mini booties and
- 15:01Speaker 2: everything out.
- 15:02Speaker 1: I know, I'm like, the fuck, Kim, you are not
- 15:06Speaker 1: there anymore. Well, I mean, I just it was a
- 15:10Speaker 1: bit of a midlife spectacle, yeah, that none of us
- 15:14Speaker 1: needed to see. No, no, not at all.
- 15:17Speaker 2: But anyway, so Zach is trying to direct everybody to
- 15:22Speaker 2: get into their places. He's trying to explain the whole
- 15:25Speaker 2: proposal and like what he wants to plan out, what
- 15:27Speaker 2: he wants to implement, and nobody seems to give a fuck.
- 15:31Speaker 2: Nobody seems to listen. I kind of felt bad for
- 15:34Speaker 2: him there because I'm just like you guys, like this
- 15:37Speaker 2: is for your sister.
- 15:37Speaker 1: Though it's one day, it's literally one half of an
- 15:40Speaker 1: hour out of a day, like where you can help
- 15:44Speaker 1: and you can create this moment that he wants to
- 15:46Speaker 1: have with your sister who's totally in love with this
- 15:49Speaker 1: young man for whatever reason, for.
- 15:51Speaker 2: Some reason, and it's like you cannot like the guy.
- 15:53Speaker 2: And that's fine because I'm gonna be honest, I don't
- 15:56Speaker 2: really like Zach myself, but we'll get into it later.
- 15:59Speaker 2: But you can set that shit aside for this like
- 16:03Speaker 2: one hour thing that you just need to literally stand
- 16:06Speaker 2: there for, like you don't have to do anything, Like
- 16:08Speaker 2: he's just telling you what he wants to do, and
- 16:10Speaker 2: nobody's taking it, especially Ethan, who gets visibly mad at
- 16:16Speaker 2: the fact that Zach is trying to coordinate everything. He
- 16:20Speaker 2: calls him bossy, calls him pushy. We've talked about how
- 16:24Speaker 2: Ethan is the immovable tourist last week. He doesn't like
- 16:27Speaker 2: to be told what to do. But I'm like, Ethan,
- 16:30Speaker 2: you need to grow the fuck up, dude.
- 16:32Speaker 1: Yes, but I mean also Veronica, like Veronica is right
- 16:37Speaker 1: there instigating the bullying of Zach and this just and
- 16:42Speaker 1: we'll talk about this in the after show, but it's
- 16:44Speaker 1: like really rich because she has spent literally weeks, if
- 16:48Speaker 1: not months, on this campaign to paint Ethan and Mica
- 16:52Speaker 1: out to be these homophobic a holes who bullied Zach.
- 16:56Speaker 1: And now we get to the actual episodes and I'm
- 16:58Speaker 1: loving the producers for this. I am loving the producers,
- 17:01Speaker 1: but we get to the episode, and it's actually Veronica
- 17:05Speaker 1: who's out here doing majority of the instigation to bully Zach.
- 17:10Speaker 1: It's crazy. She's an awful person. And I know we're
- 17:12Speaker 1: not on that part, and I know we're still talking
- 17:13Speaker 1: about Ethan. Ethan also an awful person. Like so disappointed
- 17:18Speaker 1: in you as a person. I thought you were like
- 17:20Speaker 1: and I said this last week. I won't labor this.
- 17:23Speaker 1: I thought you were a Christian, Like I thought that
- 17:24Speaker 1: was a value that you held. And maybe you're not
- 17:26Speaker 1: as much of a Christian as you were before in
- 17:29Speaker 1: terms of practicing, but like, I thought the values were
- 17:31Speaker 1: something that you held. Dear, I thought that's why you
- 17:34Speaker 1: wouldn't want to stay with Olivia, because she didn't hold
- 17:37Speaker 1: the same values and that was important to you. But like,
- 17:39Speaker 1: now here we are in twenty twenty five, and this
- 17:42Speaker 1: is how you treat people. I don't mind Zach. He's different.
- 17:46Speaker 1: I've seen a lot of people in my many years
- 17:48Speaker 1: on this planet. He seems like a kind young man
- 17:51Speaker 1: who's doing the very best that he can. Keeping in mind,
- 17:53Speaker 1: he's twenty three years old. Lydia's twenty Zach is twenty three.
- 17:57Speaker 1: Are they too young? Absolutely? Is it gonna work. Probably not,
- 18:01Speaker 1: but he's a good boy and he deserves the benefit
- 18:06Speaker 1: of the doubt. He's done nothing to Ethan, He's done
- 18:09Speaker 1: nothing to Michael or anybody else that would call for
- 18:13Speaker 1: them to treat him this way. Now, if you show
- 18:14Speaker 1: me who you are and you're an a hole to
- 18:16Speaker 1: my sister, that's different. Sure, then I'm going to come
- 18:18Speaker 1: out the gate. We're going to have a problem. But
- 18:20Speaker 1: like you're you're treating my sister well, my sister seems
- 18:23Speaker 1: to love you. I'm not gonna come at you like this.
- 18:26Speaker 2: Well, And like, here's the thing is, like I can
- 18:30Speaker 2: understand why the brothers would be cautious of him and
- 18:34Speaker 2: would be skeptical of him because they don't fucking know him.
- 18:38Speaker 2: This is Micah's first time meeting this guy, and you're
- 18:40Speaker 2: gonna propose to my sister. I don't know, dick all
- 18:43Speaker 2: about you. I don't know your character. You haven't like
- 18:46Speaker 2: asked me anything about myself.
- 18:48Speaker 1: Like, but does it bother you when you look at
- 18:50Speaker 1: Micah's character? This man is a cheat, or this man
- 18:52Speaker 1: is somebody who gave me Roonica a RTD. This is
- 18:55Speaker 1: a person who is a liar, So why are you
- 18:57Speaker 1: seeing there in judgment of this young Christian man who
- 18:59Speaker 1: just and hiked with your sister and they went up
- 19:04Speaker 1: five mountains and they're deeply in love. Like, who are
- 19:06Speaker 1: you to sit in judgment? Plus you Ethan with your
- 19:09Speaker 1: fly fucking open.
- 19:10Speaker 2: Yeah, well, I mean, nobody is in place to judge anybody.
- 19:14Speaker 2: We're two raccoons on a podcast judging these people too,
- 19:16Speaker 2: that's sure, when we've got our own bullshit on our
- 19:19Speaker 2: own site. I'm not justifying Micah's behavior, I'm not justifying
- 19:22Speaker 2: his actions. I'm not justifying Ethan's I think both of
- 19:24Speaker 2: them and Veronica are fucking out of pocket. The way
- 19:27Speaker 2: that they are acting is so unbelievably immature. And you
- 19:30Speaker 2: guys are supposed to be the eldest siblings. You're supposed
- 19:33Speaker 2: to be the ones that are offering advice, and you're
- 19:37Speaker 2: trying to be protective of Lydia, But you're calling him
- 19:39Speaker 2: an asshole, You're calling him an idiot. Ethan mutters fuck
- 19:43Speaker 2: off under his breath, like that is inexcusable. It's so ridiculous.
- 19:47Speaker 2: What I'm saying is I think it's a little audacious
- 19:50Speaker 2: for Zach to come into this family that is patriarchal
- 19:54Speaker 2: that is Southern Baptist Christian, small town country bumpkin uneducated
- 19:59Speaker 2: because Plath home schooled them and didn't do a good job. Like,
- 20:02Speaker 2: he's coming into this family expecting them to accept him
- 20:06Speaker 2: just because Lydia is happy. He hasn't got to know anybody.
- 20:09Speaker 1: Why do you say, disagree? Why do you think that
- 20:11Speaker 1: he's expecting them to accept him. It seems to me
- 20:14Speaker 1: that he's hoping that they will. He's showing up at dinner,
- 20:17Speaker 1: he's being respectful, he's not causing any conflicts. Why do
- 20:20Speaker 1: you think he's coming in here with an entitled attitude
- 20:22Speaker 1: that everyone's going to accept him. I don't see that
- 20:24Speaker 1: at all.
- 20:24Speaker 2: I don't think he's entitled. I just think he expects
- 20:26Speaker 2: them to just be fine with it, and they're not
- 20:29Speaker 2: because they don't know him.
- 20:30Speaker 1: Well, maybe he has like a human expectation that he
- 20:32Speaker 1: won't be treated like shit people who doesn't know or
- 20:35Speaker 1: he is, Yes, irrespective of the fact that he loves
- 20:38Speaker 1: Lydia and treats her well, maybe he has that expectation,
- 20:41Speaker 1: But like, shouldn't he It's not his fault that they
- 20:44Speaker 1: didn't do that.
- 20:45Speaker 2: Well, no, I'm not saying it is. I'm saying, like,
- 20:48Speaker 2: Ethan and Micah should not be laughing at him and
- 20:50Speaker 2: bullying him and treating him like absolution shit.
- 20:53Speaker 1: In what way did he conduct himself as if he
- 20:55Speaker 1: were expecting something that he shouldn't have.
- 20:57Speaker 2: Well, I'm not like, I'm not saying that he is
- 20:59Speaker 2: entire he's acting entitled. I'm just saying that you can't
- 21:03Speaker 2: expect anybody to like be warm to you if you've
- 21:07Speaker 2: only known Lydia for three months and like the first
- 21:10Speaker 2: time you meet Ethan, for example, is when you say, yeah,
- 21:13Speaker 2: I'm going to propose to your sister and we're gonna
- 21:16Speaker 2: get married in like two months.
- 21:17Speaker 1: Yeah, but there's something very guileless about that and innocent
- 21:20Speaker 1: to me, this is just something that somebody who doesn't
- 21:23Speaker 1: have life experience wouldn't know it could be. But it
- 21:26Speaker 1: doesn't mean that that he should have expected them to
- 21:29Speaker 1: be as aggressive an antagonists as they were.
- 21:32Speaker 2: I'm not saying that.
- 21:33Speaker 1: Well, but so he expected a modicum of human decent, sure,
- 21:36Speaker 1: and they did not give that to him. That he
- 21:38Speaker 1: deserved it, Yeah, he deserved it. He may be weird,
- 21:41Speaker 1: he may be quirky, he may be strange, but he
- 21:43Speaker 1: deserves a modicum of human decency, and those people did
- 21:47Speaker 1: not give that to him.
- 21:48Speaker 2: No, for sure, And like Ethan should be mature enough
- 21:51Speaker 2: at this point because he's like twenty six, he should
- 21:54Speaker 2: be mature enough to articulate his feelings in a better
- 21:57Speaker 2: way instead of bullying him and calling him nis and
- 22:00Speaker 2: being fucking mean. Same thing with Micah. They should be
- 22:03Speaker 2: able to articulate like, hey, we're her older brothers. We're
- 22:06Speaker 2: protective of Lydia. We saw how Mariah got fundamentally changed
- 22:11Speaker 2: and broken because of some random men that she went
- 22:15Speaker 2: and ran off with. We're worried about Lydia because she's
- 22:17Speaker 2: way more impressionable and way more innocent, way more naive,
- 22:20Speaker 2: and she's pure. And we don't know you. You come out
- 22:24Speaker 2: here from Colorado and you meet us one time, and
- 22:27Speaker 2: then you say you're gonna propose to her. Like That's
- 22:29Speaker 2: what I'm saying. I can understand like the underlying like skepticism,
- 22:33Speaker 2: But yes, Ethan and Micah should one hundred percent have
- 22:36Speaker 2: been way more respectful and.
- 22:38Speaker 1: Way more I just want to say, I don't think
- 22:40Speaker 1: Zach has done anything wrong that I've seen. I think
- 22:42Speaker 1: that he's been a pleasant young man, he's different. He's excited,
- 22:46Speaker 1: he is obviously he's got heart in his hearts in
- 22:50Speaker 1: his eyes. But he's done absolutely nothing to warrant even
- 22:55Speaker 1: one percent of what he is getting. And I feel really,
- 22:59Speaker 1: so terribly bad for him. And I was actually watching
- 23:02Speaker 1: this and I'm like, are they doing this for the cameras?
- 23:05Speaker 1: Are they like, are they like trying to play it
- 23:07Speaker 1: up to like have this storyline that they're gonna haze
- 23:10Speaker 1: this Zach guy. But you know, my vibe was like, no,
- 23:14Speaker 1: I think Ethan's actually legitimately pissed off because we've got
- 23:18Speaker 1: Zach trying to coordinate this engagement and this proposal with
- 23:22Speaker 1: the rose pedals and down by the river bed or whatever,
- 23:25Speaker 1: and then you have Ethan like setting fire to the grass,
- 23:29Speaker 1: And I thought it took some big balls of Zach
- 23:32Speaker 1: to walk up to Ethan and say like, can you
- 23:33Speaker 1: put the fire out? Can you actually I would prefer
- 23:37Speaker 1: that you do that, And of course Ethan's like, well,
- 23:39Speaker 1: then you do it, and so then Zach did that.
- 23:42Speaker 1: But like I was like, at that point, I'm like, Ethan,
- 23:44Speaker 1: I think you mean this. And this just further demonstrate
- 23:49Speaker 1: demonstrates what an emotional immature cripple. You are, yeah, like
- 23:53Speaker 1: you cannot fucking read a room. You don't know how
- 23:56Speaker 1: to act decent. And on the one hand, I don't
- 23:59Speaker 1: necessarily blame you because of the way that you were
- 24:01Speaker 1: brought up by these two broken robot asshole culty people.
- 24:05Speaker 1: But on the other hand, is Beatrice, You've said, you're
- 24:07Speaker 1: twenty six years old, you've been out in life, you've
- 24:09Speaker 1: got on your high harley, and you've driven around the
- 24:12Speaker 1: nation like you should know better than to treat people
- 24:15Speaker 1: like this, and so you get no pass from me,
- 24:19Speaker 1: you asshole. And Whenika you're no better, just because you've
- 24:22Speaker 1: got a sweeter disposition. But you rolling down the hill
- 24:26Speaker 1: and on purpose trying to knock Zach over in a suit,
- 24:30Speaker 1: I'm like, oh god, you fucking suck.
- 24:32Speaker 2: Yeah, And that's why I was like mad at Kim
- 24:34Speaker 2: and mad at Barry, because I'm just like, what are
- 24:36Speaker 2: you doing? You raise these men to act like fucking children.
- 24:40Speaker 2: I mean, they are grown ass men at this point
- 24:42Speaker 2: in time, and they are acting like this. The fire
- 24:45Speaker 2: thing was so ridiculous, the way that Ethan was like
- 24:49Speaker 2: not looking at him, he was red in the face,
- 24:52Speaker 2: he was pissed off, because Zach is asking him kindly, Hey, yeah,
- 24:56Speaker 2: I don't really want the brush right here where I'm
- 24:59Speaker 2: gonna propose, like we're gonna have photos taken to be
- 25:01Speaker 2: burnt in fucking squirts, So can you like stop? And
- 25:04Speaker 2: Ethan's like, no, I want to start a fire. And
- 25:06Speaker 2: then Teagan tries to justify it, and it's like, well,
- 25:10Speaker 2: I don't think he meant anything wrong by it. He
- 25:12Speaker 2: was just trying to blow off steam. And I'm like, girl,
- 25:14Speaker 2: I know that you're in love, but like we can
- 25:16Speaker 2: call out when our partners are doing things wrong.
- 25:18Speaker 1: You know, sometimes it takes a bit of time to
- 25:21Speaker 1: be able to do that. But yeah, Teagan was pretty
- 25:24Speaker 1: weak in that moment. She was, But there was Veronica
- 25:26Speaker 1: on the sidelines just laughing and saying, well, anything that
- 25:30Speaker 1: Zach asks us to do, let's do the very opposite
- 25:33Speaker 1: of that. Let's just poke Zach. Even though this is
- 25:36Speaker 1: about Lydia and this is Lydia's special day, and even
- 25:39Speaker 1: though you Ethan, when Lydia was talking about all the
- 25:42Speaker 1: mischief you all could get into, you're the one who said, well,
- 25:44Speaker 1: but I really want this to be special for Lydia. Well,
- 25:47Speaker 1: if that were true, you wouldn't have set fire to
- 25:50Speaker 1: the ground upon which he was going to propose, right,
- 25:53Speaker 1: Just very shameful behavior. And I have to wonder, Ethan,
- 25:57Speaker 1: as you watch this back, like, are you embarrassed yourself?
- 26:01Speaker 1: Are you embarrassed of the man that you're showing yourself
- 26:03Speaker 1: to be? What kind of fucking man are you? I know,
- 26:06Speaker 1: I'm like, I'm so upset.
- 26:08Speaker 2: When did you turn into such a bitter, fucking callous drunk.
- 26:12Speaker 1: I think it's because of his marriage to Olivia. Yeah,
- 26:15Speaker 1: it's not because of Olivia, right, it's because of his
- 26:18Speaker 1: relationship with Olivia. And I kind of touched upon it
- 26:20Speaker 1: last week where I said, well, maybe Ethan is still
- 26:23Speaker 1: low key in love with Olivia, and as much as
- 26:26Speaker 1: he's protesting and he's calling her out and he's trying
- 26:29Speaker 1: to drag her like, there's a part of him that
- 26:31Speaker 1: is still very much in love with her and misses her.
- 26:34Speaker 1: And so this is how he is acting out in
- 26:37Speaker 1: reaction to that. Because you know, I've got honey, I
- 26:40Speaker 1: got mad hoodie who were married to be when I
- 26:43Speaker 1: was eighteen years old, still riding me, still still writing
- 26:47Speaker 1: me still, and I got other men still reaching out
- 26:51Speaker 1: to me. Okay, I'm a hard habit to break, beatrise,
- 26:54Speaker 1: I'm a hard habit to break like And after you
- 26:57Speaker 1: get a divorce, and we've talked about this before, typically
- 27:00Speaker 1: it takes half fifty percent of the time that you
- 27:02Speaker 1: were actually in the long term relationship or marriage for
- 27:05Speaker 1: you to begin to get over it. Right, So ethan,
- 27:07Speaker 1: if you were married for eight years or in a
- 27:09Speaker 1: long term relationship for aight, it's gonna take you four
- 27:11Speaker 1: full years before you should even try to date somebody else.
- 27:14Speaker 2: And again, like go to fucking therapy, Like your anger
- 27:17Speaker 2: is so ridiculous, like the fact that you can't articulate
- 27:20Speaker 2: it and you can't funnel it into like a into
- 27:23Speaker 2: a mature like conversation, because again, you could sit there
- 27:27Speaker 2: and have a mature conversation with Zach. I look like,
- 27:30Speaker 2: I'm glad that you make my sister happy, but I
- 27:32Speaker 2: don't trust you. I'm a little trepidacious. It's gonna take
- 27:36Speaker 2: me time to warm up to you because I only
- 27:37Speaker 2: met you, like yesterday, and I just would appreciate some
- 27:41Speaker 2: grace in that, and I will try to be kind
- 27:43Speaker 2: to you.
- 27:43Speaker 3: But you can't even do that.
- 27:45Speaker 2: You're laughing at him, You're making fun of him, You're
- 27:47Speaker 2: calling him names. It's ridiculous. I'm like so mad at
- 27:50Speaker 2: him because from season one Ethan to now, I'm like,
- 27:55Speaker 2: you suck a piece of shit.
- 27:57Speaker 1: We remember you as a Johnny Appleseed, didn't know how
- 28:00Speaker 1: to do anything, completely naive to everything, arrogant, not arrogant,
- 28:05Speaker 1: but ignorant to how to live a life. And here
- 28:07Speaker 1: you are picking on this person for being different, and
- 28:12Speaker 1: that really is a testimony to Kim and Barry. And
- 28:17Speaker 1: Kim and Barry you can put on this facade of
- 28:20Speaker 1: reasonableness and you know, trying to co parent. We're good people,
- 28:24Speaker 1: we love God. But like, these are the kids that
- 28:27Speaker 1: you have literally raised. They are assholes, or else they
- 28:31Speaker 1: are addicts, or else they are depressed, or else they
- 28:33Speaker 1: are broken, or else they're indoctrinated, like Lydia. Like Lydia
- 28:37Speaker 1: literally had to turn to a heavenly father because she
- 28:40Speaker 1: didn't have a present father to take care of her
- 28:42Speaker 1: and save her from Kim fucking Plath.
- 28:45Speaker 2: Well, and that's the thing with Barry is that he's
- 28:47Speaker 2: just like so willing to give away his daughter. And like,
- 28:50Speaker 2: look like I'm not advocating for like traditional values, like
- 28:53Speaker 2: the father needs permission to give away his daughter anything
- 28:56Speaker 2: like that. But like he's just like so happy to
- 28:59Speaker 2: like let her be with this guy that he barely
- 29:01Speaker 2: knows as well, and she's only known him for like
- 29:04Speaker 2: four months. They've only spent like really a week together
- 29:06Speaker 2: because they've been long distance for the majority of their
- 29:09Speaker 2: time together. And Barry's like, yeah, I think it's great.
- 29:12Speaker 2: I think it's awesome that she's gonna get married in
- 29:14Speaker 2: like five months and it'll be totally fine. And you know,
- 29:16Speaker 2: she's doing the exact same thing that me and Kim did,
- 29:19Speaker 2: and like, you know, it didn't work out for us,
- 29:20Speaker 2: but hopefully it'll be better for Lydia. I just I
- 29:24Speaker 2: just don't like it.
- 29:24Speaker 1: Yeah, it's a thorough abdication of your parental responsibilities and
- 29:29Speaker 1: it's not cute. No, And anybody with like even a
- 29:32Speaker 1: minor ability to think and cogitate can see what's happening here,
- 29:37Speaker 1: and it's a tragedy. And I feel bad for Lydia.
- 29:39Speaker 1: And she's so sweet, Oh my god, she's so pretty,
- 29:43Speaker 1: so sweet, so perfect, so kind, so good. I hope
- 29:47Speaker 1: that Zach treats her well.
- 29:48Speaker 2: Me too.
- 29:49Speaker 1: I hope that she did move to Colorado and got
- 29:52Speaker 1: away from these contaminated, poisonous people who don't have her
- 29:56Speaker 1: best interest. Well maybe they do. Maybe Ethan does have
- 29:59Speaker 1: her best interest at heart, but he doesn't have the
- 30:01Speaker 1: humanity to know how to take care of her or
- 30:05Speaker 1: conduct himself exactly. And it's embarrassing. I mean, imagine Lydia
- 30:09Speaker 1: watching this. She did not know that her brothers and
- 30:13Speaker 1: Veronica and her family was doing this shit. She thought
- 30:16Speaker 1: it was perfect, it was magical, but no, they were
- 30:19Speaker 1: actively trying to ruin it, well specifically Veronica.
- 30:23Speaker 2: Yes, I just I hated this whole thing. I felt
- 30:26Speaker 2: embarrassed for Lydia because she's gonna have to watch this
- 30:28Speaker 2: back and she is so innocent and naive and sweet
- 30:31Speaker 2: and loving, and now you get to see your family
- 30:33Speaker 2: make asses of themselves because they don't like your new boyfriend.
- 30:37Speaker 2: But then I was thinking, like, you know, this whole
- 30:39Speaker 2: timeline is very very fast. I mean, we as the
- 30:43Speaker 2: viewers are just getting to know Zach, like we didn't
- 30:46Speaker 2: know him last year, Like nobody knows this dude. And
- 30:49Speaker 2: I wondered if, like, so, there's a couple different ways.
- 30:53Speaker 2: It's like either Zach has some bad intentions and he's
- 30:57Speaker 2: trying to pull her away from her family and everything
- 31:00Speaker 2: she knows and bring her to Colorado and everything. Or
- 31:03Speaker 2: I wondered, maybe there's some shit going on between Lydia
- 31:06Speaker 2: and the family. Maybe she confided in Zach on one
- 31:09Speaker 2: of their hikes, and I was like, yeah, like I'm parentified,
- 31:12Speaker 2: I'm so unhappy at my home. I don't know what
- 31:14Speaker 2: to fucking do. And Zach's like, Okay, let's speed track
- 31:17Speaker 2: this and let's take you out away from your family
- 31:19Speaker 2: and move you to Colorado. I wondered that I hope
- 31:21Speaker 2: that Zach has good intentions. I'm not saying that he's
- 31:24Speaker 2: a bad guy. He doesn't deserve this treatment whatsoever. I'm
- 31:28Speaker 2: just a little suss of him because of the timeline,
- 31:31Speaker 2: because of the lack of the physical intimacy. I'm worried.
- 31:35Speaker 2: I'm not like homophobic Ethan sitting there being like are
- 31:38Speaker 2: you queer? I'm not like that. I just am wondering
- 31:42Speaker 2: what his intentions are with my sweet Lydia because I'm
- 31:45Speaker 2: feeling protective over her too. Well.
- 31:47Speaker 1: I just have to say that as a former teenage missionary,
- 31:53Speaker 1: and I apologize for that, but like I was a missionary,
- 31:56Speaker 1: I was somebody who went to other nations, and I
- 31:59Speaker 1: spent time with other young people. I've been sold out
- 32:02Speaker 1: and radical for Jesus Christ in my youth. I've met
- 32:05Speaker 1: a million Zachs. I've met a million young men and
- 32:08Speaker 1: women who really loved God and then met other people
- 32:11Speaker 1: who also loved God and they fell in love, like
- 32:14Speaker 1: I've met people like Zach, and I just personally, I
- 32:18Speaker 1: want to give people the benefit of the doubt, especially
- 32:23Speaker 1: if they're showing themselves to be earnest. Maybe it's not
- 32:26Speaker 1: the way I would do it, maybe it's not necessarily
- 32:28Speaker 1: what I would want to be done for me, But
- 32:30Speaker 1: like Lydia seems to love it, and Zach seems to
- 32:35Speaker 1: be earnest, and so I'm okay with it, and I
- 32:39Speaker 1: support it, and I think he's a nice boy, and
- 32:41Speaker 1: I think she's a lovely girl. And that's just like
- 32:43Speaker 1: where I feel like we should start and finish it
- 32:45Speaker 1: with a situation. But with broken people like the Plaths,
- 32:49Speaker 1: it never works out to be that way, and then
- 32:51Speaker 1: they attract all of them attract other broken people who
- 32:55Speaker 1: just compound and amplify the existing problem in the relationships.
- 33:00Speaker 2: And that's what I worry about. Hopefully, though they have
- 33:02Speaker 2: a great marriage. Hopefully they're banging each other out and
- 33:04Speaker 2: they are happily ever after. That's what I hope. And
- 33:07Speaker 2: then we shift gears from proposal preparation to Mariah because
- 33:12Speaker 2: she's the only one that's not at the proposal yet.
- 33:16Speaker 2: She's at some diner or something getting drunk from off
- 33:19Speaker 2: of wine and we see her. We haven't really like
- 33:22Speaker 2: seen her much the last couple episodes, and she's looking troubled.
- 33:27Speaker 1: Dude, I've seen better days from Mariah.
- 33:31Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm worried about her.
- 33:33Speaker 1: Clouds in the eyes again, just like something around the
- 33:37Speaker 1: edges of her speech and her affect that is a
- 33:40Speaker 1: little bit slower, a little bit more cloudy. And you know,
- 33:47Speaker 1: it's not lost on me that, like the entire family
- 33:50Speaker 1: is there preparing and helping, but she's sitting at this
- 33:53Speaker 1: diner and so I think she is consciously choosing to
- 33:56Speaker 1: separate herself from the rest of her family, even though
- 33:59Speaker 1: she like them. But like, what she's saying throughout these
- 34:03Speaker 1: scenes is very interesting to me because she's putting a
- 34:05Speaker 1: lot of blame on herself. Yeah, Like, I don't want
- 34:08Speaker 1: to be a burden to anybody, and I definitely screwed
- 34:12Speaker 1: things up. I've hurt people. I don't want to continue
- 34:14Speaker 1: to hurt people. So it's better that I'm not around
- 34:18Speaker 1: that kind of languaging, that kind of stuff. It's depression,
- 34:22Speaker 1: it's but it's also very worrying. Yeah, it's really very
- 34:25Speaker 1: it's very worrying that it makes me wonder, like, do
- 34:29Speaker 1: you have somebody in your life, Mariah, who's telling you
- 34:31Speaker 1: that you're beautiful, that you're worthwhile, that you're talented, that
- 34:34Speaker 1: you're creative, that you've got a lot going for you
- 34:36Speaker 1: in your life, that you're at the very beginning of
- 34:38Speaker 1: your life. I just worry that she doesn't have that,
- 34:42Speaker 1: based on how she's presenting herself, at least in this episode.
- 34:46Speaker 2: Yeah, I felt really bad for her. And she's like
- 34:49Speaker 2: really worried about going to the proposal because she doesn't
- 34:52Speaker 2: want to be around Mariah and Namara, Veronica and Mica
- 34:56Speaker 2: because of the tension that's there between them all, and
- 34:59Speaker 2: she's worried about potential conflict, and so that's why she's
- 35:02Speaker 2: getting drunk and a diner before she drives over there, apparently,
- 35:06Speaker 2: and then she's talking about moving to Montana, which I
- 35:09Speaker 2: was shocked to hear because I'm just like that's a
- 35:12Speaker 2: drastic move. I mean hopefully, like spending some time in
- 35:16Speaker 2: the mountains in the forest will help reset.
- 35:20Speaker 1: Meet you at rancher and a cowboy, meet you a cowboy.
- 35:23Speaker 1: If I could do life over again, and knowing what
- 35:27Speaker 1: I know now, when I was young at her age,
- 35:30Speaker 1: before I got hauled off into the corral and branded
- 35:34Speaker 1: as the cow that I am to some man or
- 35:36Speaker 1: the other, Like if I had my drothers, I would
- 35:38Speaker 1: go to a place like Montana or to some beautiful
- 35:43Speaker 1: location and just insert myself into the local economy and
- 35:46Speaker 1: see what's going on.
- 35:47Speaker 2: Yeah, And like, I really do hope that that's the
- 35:49Speaker 2: change that she needs. But I do worry about the
- 35:53Speaker 2: fact that she's doing it to run away and run
- 35:56Speaker 2: away from her problems, because that does seem to be
- 35:58Speaker 2: Mariah's m O. People online are very critical of that
- 36:02Speaker 2: and think that she's a shitty person for that. I'm
- 36:05Speaker 2: the kind of person that relates to that, because when
- 36:07Speaker 2: I was going through my shit at her age, I
- 36:10Speaker 2: would run away. I would disassociate, I would cut off
- 36:14Speaker 2: from people and everything because I didn't want to deal
- 36:16Speaker 2: with conflict. Because I was so tenderhearted at the time
- 36:19Speaker 2: and I didn't know how to articulate my feelings and everything,
- 36:23Speaker 2: so I relate to her. I'm worried about her, I'm
- 36:26Speaker 2: sad for her. I hope she's okay, and I wish
- 36:29Speaker 2: her nothing but the best.
- 36:30Speaker 1: Same.
- 36:31Speaker 2: And then we have Barry driving Lydia to the cabin,
- 36:34Speaker 2: and this is where he concox his little story. He
- 36:36Speaker 2: had Kim text to him saying that the cabin needed
- 36:39Speaker 2: some towels, and so Barry's like, well, we're gonna go
- 36:42Speaker 2: to dinner, but we got to make a stub at
- 36:43Speaker 2: the cabin first, and Lydia is like, okay, she looks.
- 36:47Speaker 1: Gorgeous, She's so pretty. My god, that dress, her eyes.
- 36:51Speaker 2: Oh god, these Plath girls beautiful, gorgeous. And so they're
- 36:57Speaker 2: driving over, and then we have people getting prepared for
- 37:00Speaker 2: the proposal. Zach has everybody lined up in an aisle
- 37:05Speaker 2: leading down to the little peninsula that Ethan tried to
- 37:09Speaker 2: burn down, where Zach is standing there in his Sunday best,
- 37:13Speaker 2: and we have everybody else wearing whatever the fuck they're wearing.
- 37:17Speaker 1: I guess, including Veronica. Yes, do we want to talk
- 37:20Speaker 1: about that? Yes? Because once everybody is lined.
- 37:24Speaker 2: Up, like Mariah shows up and everything.
- 37:26Speaker 1: Waiting for Lydia to get there. Momentarily, that's when Veronica,
- 37:32Speaker 1: heretofore dressed in sweats for an engagement proposal, takes off
- 37:37Speaker 1: her sweats to reveal a forever twenty one glitter dress
- 37:41Speaker 1: that you would go clubbing in when you were eighteen
- 37:43Speaker 1: or whatever. Uh huh, and it is taki af. She's
- 37:47Speaker 1: wearing it with ten of shoes, which is also taky af.
- 37:50Speaker 2: How are we doing?
- 37:51Speaker 1: And it was absolutely ludicrous, and you had to love
- 37:54Speaker 1: little Amber, a little beautiful ray of light, Amber who
- 37:58Speaker 1: says to the camera like, I don't know why she
- 38:00Speaker 1: did that. I think she was looking for attention, but
- 38:03Speaker 1: nobody really noticed.
- 38:04Speaker 2: She called that out. Amber has been like that since
- 38:08Speaker 2: she was fourteen, calling out Kim Plath in the earlier season.
- 38:11Speaker 1: Why should dad move out when you're the one who
- 38:13Speaker 1: wants the divorce? I little truth killer.
- 38:16Speaker 2: I love Amber so much, and also she's fucking gorgeous.
- 38:19Speaker 2: It's ridiculous, But Amber calling Veronica out was amazing. I
- 38:24Speaker 2: thought Veronica was stupid. She looked daggy as fuck.
- 38:27Speaker 1: And nobody gave her any attention at all. She looked
- 38:31Speaker 1: silly and ridiculous, and I think she felt that way
- 38:34Speaker 1: because it didn't garner the reaction that she wanted, which
- 38:38Speaker 1: then leads to her subsequent scene with Olivia, which we'll
- 38:40Speaker 1: get to. But she just looked like a fool. She
- 38:42Speaker 1: acted like a fool, She acted like a mean girl.
- 38:45Speaker 1: Like what kind of person do you have to be
- 38:48Speaker 1: to go out of your way to upstage somebody who's
- 38:51Speaker 1: about to get engaged to the love of their life
- 38:53Speaker 1: where you were invited into a sacred circle of family
- 38:57Speaker 1: in order to witness that, And this is your first
- 38:59Speaker 1: impulse is to upstage and be basically a twat.
- 39:03Speaker 2: And it's like she talks all of this shit online
- 39:06Speaker 2: about how the Plath boys like tried to literally set
- 39:09Speaker 2: Zach on fire because of some hate crime or whatever
- 39:12Speaker 2: because they think that he's gay. And then you have
- 39:16Speaker 2: Veronica changing into this bedazzled Forever twenty one dress and
- 39:20Speaker 2: she says, yeah, Zach told us what to wear. He
- 39:22Speaker 2: told us to wear church clothes. And I said, I'm
- 39:25Speaker 2: not gonna do that. I'm gonna do whatever, because I
- 39:27Speaker 2: don't listen to anybody, no man, no one, especially not
- 39:32Speaker 2: this guy that I've just met. I'm like, so you're rude.
- 39:35Speaker 1: Oh, she's awful.
- 39:36Speaker 2: You're so disrespectful. Something's wrong with her, something.
- 39:38Speaker 1: Is she's unhinged, dude. And she was right there when
- 39:42Speaker 1: Ethan and Micah were setting that grass on fire. Yeah,
- 39:45Speaker 1: so all of these weeks where she was trying to
- 39:48Speaker 1: say that that there was a hate crime against Zach
- 39:51Speaker 1: for being gay, well, then you were right there doing it.
- 39:53Speaker 1: Was that when it was happening, because I didn't hear
- 39:56Speaker 1: that from Ethan, I didn't hear that from Micah. And
- 39:57Speaker 1: yes they're assholes, and yes they're potentially home. You were
- 40:00Speaker 1: right there instigating it and doing it as well, which
- 40:03Speaker 1: means you ain't shit and you've lost credibility with just
- 40:06Speaker 1: about everything. And we're going to talk about that in
- 40:08Speaker 1: the after.
- 40:08Speaker 2: Show most definitely we are. And then sweet Lydia arrives
- 40:13Speaker 2: and she sees Micah's truck and she's like, what's going on?
- 40:16Speaker 2: And then Barry escorts her down to where everybody's lined up,
- 40:20Speaker 2: and Lydia realizes, OMG, I'm getting proposed to and everybody's
- 40:26Speaker 2: lined up. She hugs every single person, just like Zach
- 40:30Speaker 2: knew she would, although he kind of makes a comment
- 40:32Speaker 2: about it, He's like, she hugged every single person. Zach's
- 40:35Speaker 2: already kind of annoyed at this point because of all
- 40:37Speaker 2: the plaths Megan a ruckus and bullying him before the proposal,
- 40:42Speaker 2: so I think he was just like, come on, Lydia,
- 40:44Speaker 2: let me propose to you so we can kiss and
- 40:46Speaker 2: get the fuck out of here. I think he was
- 40:48Speaker 2: over it. But then Lydia hugs everybody, she goes down
- 40:52Speaker 2: and Zack proposes and I'm cringing a little bit, but
- 40:55Speaker 2: it's sweet, I guess, and they obviously she says yes.
- 41:00Speaker 2: And then we have Kim and Barry saying now we
- 41:03Speaker 2: have to deal with the wedding and if the proposal
- 41:05Speaker 2: is this much work, oh my god, the wedding's going
- 41:07Speaker 2: to be so much work. And this is where we
- 41:08Speaker 2: learn that they're going to get married in like two
- 41:10Speaker 2: months mm hm, which is crazy to me. I'm sending
- 41:13Speaker 2: up the red flag a little bit. I'm just like,
- 41:15Speaker 2: this is crazy. But like whatever, Lydia is happy.
- 41:17Speaker 1: The whole thing is ill advised and it's not going
- 41:19Speaker 1: to work out statistically, like they have a very low
- 41:22Speaker 1: chance of success, probably one to two percent. But God
- 41:25Speaker 1: can do anything. God can make a way where there
- 41:27Speaker 1: seems to be no way.
- 41:29Speaker 2: Yes, and then we have Lydia asking everybody for their
- 41:33Speaker 2: involvement in the wedding, and she asks Amber to be
- 41:36Speaker 2: her maid of honor. And I thought this interaction was
- 41:38Speaker 2: a little weird because Amber's like, well, I don't know, like,
- 41:42Speaker 2: are you sure I could just be a flower girl?
- 41:44Speaker 2: And Lydia's like, no, you've been there for me, and
- 41:46Speaker 2: Amber's like, but I haven't really, but like, okay, if
- 41:49Speaker 2: you want.
- 41:49Speaker 1: Me to be the main of honor, well, what did
- 41:50Speaker 1: you make of that? I don't know.
- 41:52Speaker 2: I thought it was odd that she didn't ask Mariah
- 41:54Speaker 2: because Mariah and them seemed kind of close, kind of closer,
- 41:58Speaker 2: especially when they were younger. And I don't know if
- 42:00Speaker 2: there's like tension between Lydia and Mariah.
- 42:03Speaker 1: Had Mariah already left at that point, though.
- 42:05Speaker 2: I think she was still there in the background, really
- 42:08Speaker 2: all right, But like Mariah, I guess because she's been
- 42:11Speaker 2: doing her own thing, maybe Lydia doesn't approve of what
- 42:15Speaker 2: Mariah's doing in her life. I don't know. I just
- 42:18Speaker 2: thought it was odd that she didn't ask Mariah.
- 42:20Speaker 1: Agreed.
- 42:21Speaker 2: I thought it was odd that she asked Amber, and
- 42:22Speaker 2: Amber seemed like it was weird and like she hasn't
- 42:25Speaker 2: really been involved with Lydia. And this is why I
- 42:28Speaker 2: was saying earlier, I'm wondering if there's some weird relationship
- 42:31Speaker 2: dynamics going on that we don't know about. Maybe Lydia's
- 42:35Speaker 2: not as close with the family as we thought, or
- 42:37Speaker 2: maybe she's trying to be close with them and they
- 42:39Speaker 2: don't want anything to do with her. I don't thou get. No,
- 42:41Speaker 2: there's some weird stuff going on.
- 42:42Speaker 1: Well, Mike's been gone, Mariah's been gone, Ethan's been gone.
- 42:45Speaker 1: It's only really been the three littles that have been
- 42:48Speaker 1: around and Isaac who have been around Lydia.
- 42:50Speaker 2: Yeah, so that Amber's living in Florida right now with
- 42:53Speaker 2: Micah and Veronica. God, so that's why I'm like.
- 42:56Speaker 1: Not for long, I would imagine, I mean, right.
- 42:58Speaker 2: I would not want to live with Veronica's ass, But
- 43:00Speaker 2: I don't know. I just thought that was weird. And
- 43:02Speaker 2: then we have Veronica trotting around in the forest in
- 43:05Speaker 2: her stupid bedazzled dress, looking like a fool a party clown,
- 43:11Speaker 2: and she calls Olivia on FaceTime.
- 43:15Speaker 1: Because she feels like the family isn't treating her right
- 43:18Speaker 1: in this moment because they haven't acknowledged her, just like
- 43:21Speaker 1: you didn't acknowledge Mariah when she walked up. You didn't
- 43:23Speaker 1: say hi, you didn't even look at her, You didn't
- 43:25Speaker 1: say anything to Bury. But She's like, well, the family's
- 43:27Speaker 1: not treating me well, so I need to tramp on
- 43:29Speaker 1: over through the forest to the cow so that I
- 43:31Speaker 1: can call Olivia and do the most inappropriate thing possible
- 43:35Speaker 1: in this moment.
- 43:36Speaker 2: So ridiculous, And she talks about how the Plaths are
- 43:38Speaker 2: all cold and they're acting like they didn't treat her
- 43:41Speaker 2: and Olivia like shit, and they're acting like everything's fine.
- 43:44Speaker 1: No, they're literally just paying attention to Lydia and making
- 43:48Speaker 1: sure that Lydia is having this magical moment for herself.
- 43:52Speaker 1: You are the one that's making it all about you
- 43:55Speaker 1: and how everybody sees you and how everybody's treating you. Meanwhile,
- 43:59Speaker 1: as I'm says, nobody's noticing you, yep, and or thinking
- 44:03Speaker 1: about you.
- 44:04Speaker 2: Nobody gives a shit. And then Veronica says some things
- 44:07Speaker 2: about how the Plaths are structured like a typical high school,
- 44:11Speaker 2: but they wouldn't know because they didn't go to school,
- 44:13Speaker 2: like so mean, that's how Olivia used to talk about
- 44:17Speaker 2: their education, and like, look, we're talking about it too.
- 44:19Speaker 2: I mean, Kim Plaid educated them, and they were educated
- 44:22Speaker 2: well enough, but it's like God so mean. And then
- 44:26Speaker 2: you're trying to team up with Olivia, who I think
- 44:28Speaker 2: you're right from last week. Olivia doesn't want to interact
- 44:32Speaker 2: with God.
- 44:32Speaker 1: She's calling again, Yeah, oh God, what are we going
- 44:35Speaker 1: to talk about?
- 44:35Speaker 2: What are we going to talk about? I think Olivia
- 44:37Speaker 2: is keeping her at an arm's length.
- 44:39Speaker 1: I think Olivia, for all that we can say about her,
- 44:42Speaker 1: I think she's an intuitive young woman. I think she's
- 44:45Speaker 1: very intelligent. I think she can probably read Veronica quickly
- 44:51Speaker 1: easily and like a book. Veronica, you are making a
- 44:54Speaker 1: fool out of yourself in the world. Yeah, on social
- 44:57Speaker 1: media and certainly in this show. And it just as
- 44:59Speaker 1: a side bar, it just had me wondering. I think
- 45:02Speaker 1: somebody commented somewhere like, wouldn't it be interesting if production
- 45:06Speaker 1: just kind of threw up their hands and said, Okay,
- 45:08Speaker 1: enough covering for Kim, enough covering for Ethan, enough covering
- 45:11Speaker 1: for Olivia and Veronica. Let's just show everybody exactly who
- 45:15Speaker 1: they are without trying to edit it. And in this moment,
- 45:18Speaker 1: I thought it was really great. Production was showing exactly
- 45:21Speaker 1: how insecure, immature and downright mean Veronica is.
- 45:26Speaker 2: I love it. Are doing this, you keep doing it,
- 45:30Speaker 2: keep doing this is fucking lit.
- 45:34Speaker 1: And there are a lot of people online who are like,
- 45:35Speaker 1: I cannot continue to watch this because it is so homophobic,
- 45:39Speaker 1: It is so ridiculous and bullying and rude and mean,
- 45:42Speaker 1: and those things are true. But at the same time,
- 45:45Speaker 1: I am very entertained. I am very entertained, and I
- 45:48Speaker 1: have to see this through because previously Beatrice, we wondered
- 45:51Speaker 1: whether they would even show us the wedding, like and
- 45:53Speaker 1: everything that happened at the wedding. And again we know
- 45:56Speaker 1: that Micah and Isaac get in a huge drunken bra
- 45:58Speaker 1: Oh my god, and Isaac excuse me. Micah's nose is
- 46:01Speaker 1: almost dislodged from his face, and we've seen pictures of
- 46:04Speaker 1: him all beat up, and we thought there's no way
- 46:06Speaker 1: production is gonna show that. But it feels like everything
- 46:10Speaker 1: in this season is leading up to that point. Yeah,
- 46:13Speaker 1: I actually feel hopeful that we're gonna see it, and
- 46:16Speaker 1: I think that's going to be like the crystallized moment
- 46:20Speaker 1: where Micah and Veronica also break up and he dumps
- 46:23Speaker 1: her ass. Yeah, that's what happened. There's a reason for
- 46:26Speaker 1: Veronica is showing her ass on social media right now
- 46:29Speaker 1: is because she got dumped and she should be dumped
- 46:32Speaker 1: because it's a terrible, toxic person.
- 46:34Speaker 2: She fucking sucks, dude, and Micah sucks too.
- 46:36Speaker 1: Michah does. Sure, yes, but like.
- 46:37Speaker 2: Veronica, you are toxic af dude, and you're still you're
- 46:41Speaker 2: still on a campaign against Micah and it's embarrassing.
- 46:45Speaker 1: And you're doing it in the most despicable way. You're
- 46:47Speaker 1: calling out, embarrassing his sexual proclivities. You're alleging that he's
- 46:50Speaker 1: been sex trafficked. You are also alleging that he's had STDs,
- 46:54Speaker 1: Like you're divulging this very intimate sexual physical information about
- 46:59Speaker 1: Mike that is only his to reveal. You, in my opinion,
- 47:04Speaker 1: are a disgusting person.
- 47:06Speaker 2: Agreed. Yeah. And then after the proposal, Micah and Ethan
- 47:11Speaker 2: do a little meet and greet with Zach because he
- 47:14Speaker 2: had set up this specific time to talk with them
- 47:18Speaker 2: and get to know them. And this part was crazy
- 47:22Speaker 2: because aims because Ethan up until this point has been
- 47:27Speaker 2: saying his only grievances with Zach was the timeline and
- 47:32Speaker 2: the fact that he didn't really know him. But during
- 47:35Speaker 2: this conversation with Zach, it is apparent that Ethan thinks
- 47:39Speaker 2: he's gay and does not like the fact that he
- 47:43Speaker 2: thinks he's gay, and it's like this, it's crazy. Micah
- 47:46Speaker 2: seems to be coming at it from a perspective of
- 47:49Speaker 2: a protective older brother. He wants to kind of vet
- 47:53Speaker 2: Zach because he straight up says he doesn't think Barry
- 47:56Speaker 2: grilled him hard enough, and so he feels like a
- 47:59Speaker 2: moral response onsibility as the older brother to do that, because.
- 48:03Speaker 1: But you don't have to do it in a way
- 48:04Speaker 1: that's intimidating and threatening, like if you were my sister,
- 48:07Speaker 1: I'm going to kick your ass and it's going to
- 48:09Speaker 1: be terrible for you. Agreed, Okay, Micah.
- 48:12Speaker 2: But we're here, Okay. So we get into this little cabin.
- 48:18Speaker 2: Zach comes in. He's ready to answer questions. He's already
- 48:21Speaker 2: expecting that they're gonna as they're gonna ask hard questions
- 48:24Speaker 2: because they're her brothers, and so he's it seems like
- 48:28Speaker 2: he's a little nervous. It seems like he's a little
- 48:30Speaker 2: wouldn't you be, of course, because they were laughing at
- 48:33Speaker 2: him just an episode ago, they were.
- 48:35Speaker 1: Trying to set his proposal sight on fire. Right, he
- 48:38Speaker 1: probably heard Ethan say fuck you and call him an
- 48:41Speaker 1: idiot under his breath.
- 48:43Speaker 2: Yep. So he's coming into this, like I think, with
- 48:47Speaker 2: a guard up, rightfully, so, because Ethan and Micah have
- 48:50Speaker 2: been downright me into him.
- 48:52Speaker 1: The way I would not have taken that meeting the way.
- 48:54Speaker 1: There would not have been any Q and A, the
- 48:56Speaker 1: way I would have just given them nothing and just
- 48:59Speaker 1: left with my beautiful Lydia. Who the fuck do you
- 49:02Speaker 1: think you are?
- 49:02Speaker 2: Young men? Yeah? I agree. I I just think that
- 49:06Speaker 2: things would have been different if the timeline wasn't so short,
- 49:09Speaker 2: and if Zach got to know them before he like proposed,
- 49:14Speaker 2: and before they decided to get married. I think things
- 49:17Speaker 2: doesn't owe them that.
- 49:18Speaker 1: Yeah, that'd be great, and I think that's best case scenario.
- 49:21Speaker 1: But nobody owes them that this is between him and
- 49:24Speaker 1: Lydia and they have both agreed to be in this
- 49:26Speaker 1: relationship and to get married. So Ethan, you're not owed anything. Michaeh,
- 49:30Speaker 1: you're not owed any assurance, and they don't need anybody's permission.
- 49:33Speaker 2: I don't think they feel like owed anything. I think
- 49:35Speaker 2: that they just expected to get to know him a
- 49:38Speaker 2: little bit, so that's why they're doing this meeting.
- 49:40Speaker 1: I feel like they feel they're entitled to grill him.
- 49:42Speaker 2: They do, Yeah, they definitely feel that in this conversation.
- 49:45Speaker 2: And Ethan seems drunk to.
- 49:47Speaker 3: Me because he is everybody's string out of that coffee
- 49:50Speaker 3: cup and I'm everybody in the clubs getting tipsy. So
- 49:55Speaker 3: Ethan and Micah talk before I think Zach comes in,
- 49:59Speaker 3: and this is where Ethan says he thinks that he's
- 50:02Speaker 3: a nice guy, but Lydia wouldn't know any better otherwise,
- 50:05Speaker 3: and I think that that's true. And then we have
- 50:08Speaker 3: Michael also saying that he thinks that this whole thing
- 50:10Speaker 3: is just a crush and that they're making it a
- 50:12Speaker 3: lot bigger because they're restricting physical intimacy, which I also
- 50:16Speaker 3: think is a good point. I'm not trying to judge
- 50:19Speaker 3: the relationship, but like, I think they're making good points
- 50:21Speaker 3: right there. But then Zach comes in and they're fucking mean.
- 50:24Speaker 3: Mike's like, if you hurt Lydia, there's gonna be fucking consequences,
- 50:29Speaker 3: my guy, and then Ethan is like, why is it
- 50:32Speaker 3: so damn fast?
- 50:34Speaker 2: Though? Like he's coming off aggressive, like in his verbiage,
- 50:38Speaker 2: like he is not trying to be mature, he's not
- 50:41Speaker 2: trying to hold back his anger. He's probably drunk and
- 50:43Speaker 2: he's just going in hard. Zach says something to the
- 50:47Speaker 2: effect of, well, I don't know how much you know
- 50:51Speaker 2: about our relationship, but like we spent a week hiking
- 50:53Speaker 2: together in the mountains and so like it felt like
- 50:56Speaker 2: many months transpired in one week, and so we just
- 50:59Speaker 2: felt like I give this call by God and that's
- 51:01Speaker 2: his answer. And I'm just like sack, yikes, dude.
- 51:06Speaker 1: But it's valid for him, he's a religious person. It's
- 51:11Speaker 1: valid for Lydia, sure, And we don't need to infantilize
- 51:14Speaker 1: Lydia and tell her the kind of physical intimacy she
- 51:17Speaker 1: should and needs to have. Like no, other people have
- 51:21Speaker 1: different ideas for themselves and their lives and their marriage
- 51:24Speaker 1: and their bodies, and that's okay. And just because it's
- 51:26Speaker 1: not the same as we would do. And just because
- 51:28Speaker 1: I think we know better does not mean that we
- 51:30Speaker 1: get to judge other people. I'm just so offended and
- 51:34Speaker 1: I see what you're saying. I really do. I get it, Like, yes,
- 51:37Speaker 1: I wish Lydia would test out the dick before she
- 51:40Speaker 1: married this guy. Yeah, because watch this guy have a
- 51:42Speaker 1: micro penis or a pamper penis, and she has no
- 51:44Speaker 1: idea and she's never had section, she has nothing to
- 51:46Speaker 1: compare it to. Yes, do I wish that, But nonetheless
- 51:49Speaker 1: I also very much respect her religious views, her faith,
- 51:54Speaker 1: and her ideas about her own body and her own life.
- 51:56Speaker 1: And so shot the fuck up, Ethan, And who to
- 52:00Speaker 1: be some kind of arbiter of what is right, a
- 52:03Speaker 1: good what a good marriage is, what a good relationship is.
- 52:05Speaker 1: What would you know about that, you fool. You don't
- 52:08Speaker 1: know how to be a husband, you don't know how
- 52:09Speaker 1: to be a partner. You don't even know how to talk.
- 52:11Speaker 1: You don't even know how to open your mouth to
- 52:13Speaker 1: metal face and talk to people. And you're gonna sit
- 52:16Speaker 1: in judgment of this young man who's doing his very
- 52:18Speaker 1: best to express himself in the way that he knows.
- 52:20Speaker 1: It just bothers me. I'm gonna shut up for the
- 52:22Speaker 1: rest of this whole thing. I hate them so much.
- 52:24Speaker 2: And that's what I hate about Ethan is that he's
- 52:26Speaker 2: coming off like he's this expert in marriage because he
- 52:30Speaker 2: just got out of a nasty divorce with somebody who
- 52:32Speaker 2: fucking hated him at the end, and I'm just like you,
- 52:34Speaker 2: then shut the fuck up.
- 52:35Speaker 1: He's not even divorced.
- 52:36Speaker 2: Well no, yeah, not even legally yet. But like when
- 52:39Speaker 2: your daughter and I were getting married and we were
- 52:41Speaker 2: talking about it and everything, like I had people from
- 52:44Speaker 2: my family telling me that I was making the biggest
- 52:47Speaker 2: mistake of my life, that I should get an annulment,
- 52:50Speaker 2: that I should not do this, and blah blah blah,
- 52:52Speaker 2: because they got married young and ended up in a
- 52:54Speaker 2: terrible divorce, and it offended me at the time because
- 52:56Speaker 2: I'm like, fuck you, dude, if it's a mistake, let
- 52:59Speaker 2: me make the mistake, then let me make the choice.
- 53:02Speaker 2: And that's like, I agree with you. I think that
- 53:05Speaker 2: Lydia is an adult and she should make the choice
- 53:07Speaker 2: and everything. I am concerned because she is naive and innocent,
- 53:10Speaker 2: and I'm worried because she's in this fundamentalist religion and
- 53:15Speaker 2: I don't know of Zach's intentions. I don't know the guy.
- 53:18Speaker 2: I hope that he's great. I hope that he treats.
- 53:20Speaker 1: Her very I think we should give him the benefit
- 53:22Speaker 1: of the doubt. He's never shown us anything to indicate
- 53:25Speaker 1: other worses.
- 53:25Speaker 2: That's fine. I'm just saying that's my vibe. I'm just like,
- 53:28Speaker 2: I'm just a little I'm a little suss. But I
- 53:31Speaker 2: wish for the best. I really hope that it's great,
- 53:33Speaker 2: and I hope that they fucking prove all of them wrong.
- 53:35Speaker 2: Wouldn't that be awesome? Yes, that they're down twenty years
- 53:38Speaker 2: down the line, they have the best relationship ever, they're
- 53:40Speaker 2: super healthy. They never see the Blaths ever again because
- 53:43Speaker 2: they're living their best life up in the mountains of Colorado.
- 53:45Speaker 2: I wish that for them. But the way Ethan and
- 53:49Speaker 2: Micah are trying to grill him is so gross. It's
- 53:53Speaker 2: so gross because he asks him like I think it
- 53:57Speaker 2: was Micah asking him what about work? Because I hope
- 54:01Speaker 2: that you're breaking your back for Lydia and I hope
- 54:03Speaker 2: that you provide for her. And Zach's like, well, I
- 54:06Speaker 2: coached tennis for a year, so I have a passion
- 54:08Speaker 2: for that. And then I also want to like own
- 54:09Speaker 2: a coffee shop. And then Ethan and Micah like laugh
- 54:12Speaker 2: about that.
- 54:13Speaker 1: Okay, Michaeh, what is your job? I'm sorry I said
- 54:16Speaker 1: I would shut up, but you build fences when you
- 54:18Speaker 1: can get the work, and it's probably thrown to you
- 54:20Speaker 1: by your girlfriend. You don't have a job, you don't
- 54:22Speaker 1: have a degree, you don't have an education, do you
- 54:24Speaker 1: even have a ged, And you're gonna judge this young
- 54:26Speaker 1: man for having a dream to have a coffee shop. Okay?
- 54:28Speaker 2: Well, and Micah does say in his talking head, he's like,
- 54:31Speaker 2: it's not necessarily about the work that you do. It's
- 54:33Speaker 2: about the hustle. And so he's just like, I'm just
- 54:35Speaker 2: making sure and I'm looking out for Lydia.
- 54:37Speaker 1: It thanks for the life lessons, the life lessons from
- 54:40Speaker 1: the Plath I know that makes a lot of sense.
- 54:42Speaker 2: And then Ethan asks him, well what do you feel
- 54:45Speaker 2: when you're around Lydia? And Zach kind of stammers and
- 54:50Speaker 2: he's like, well, I feel confident, And both the Plath
- 54:52Speaker 2: boys like don't like this answer for some reason. And
- 54:56Speaker 2: I'm wondering if it's because they think like like I want,
- 55:00Speaker 2: or if they're trying to sniff him out, like as
- 55:01Speaker 2: men of like, well, what do you mean by confident?
- 55:04Speaker 2: Like confident because she's naive, Confident because she makes you
- 55:10Speaker 2: feel good about yourself or makes you feel powerful. I
- 55:13Speaker 2: don't know but I think Zach is so nervous in
- 55:18Speaker 2: this point. I think he is dealing with these aggressive
- 55:23Speaker 2: Southern men who are coming hard on him about his
- 55:28Speaker 2: relationship with Lydia, and I think he just doesn't know
- 55:30Speaker 2: what to say here, and he stammers, and Ethan and
- 55:33Speaker 2: Micah don't like this answer, and then they get into
- 55:36Speaker 2: the physical intimacy portion, and this is where Ethan just
- 55:40Speaker 2: doesn't understand in his caveman brain how a man, a
- 55:45Speaker 2: young man could withhold or willingly withhold physical intimacy with
- 55:50Speaker 2: such a beautiful young woman. And so he asks him,
- 55:53Speaker 2: why are you waiting until marriage? And Zach says something like, well,
- 55:58Speaker 2: it was not something that I intend to commit to,
- 56:01Speaker 2: but because of who Lydia is, I decided to make
- 56:04Speaker 2: that commitment. And I thought that was a little weird,
- 56:07Speaker 2: because Lydia and Zach now are going on like Gingerduggers
- 56:12Speaker 2: podcast and they are saying the reason why, Well, Lydia
- 56:15Speaker 2: is saying for Zack that Zach was the one that
- 56:18Speaker 2: came up with the idea because he wanted to protect
- 56:21Speaker 2: Lydia's purity and he saw how, you know, beautiful and
- 56:26Speaker 2: young and innocent of a woman she was and he
- 56:28Speaker 2: didn't want to what's the word like ruin that because
- 56:34Speaker 2: just because he wanted to get his pencil wet, he
- 56:36Speaker 2: wanted to make sure that he had the holy commitment
- 56:39Speaker 2: with her before they did anything. And that's fine, that's great.
- 56:43Speaker 2: I just wondered why he didn't say that right here.
- 56:45Speaker 2: I wonder why he said it wasn't something I intended to.
- 56:48Speaker 1: Because he's being interrogated by a couple of assholes who
- 56:51Speaker 1: just ruined his engagement. Yeah, like, how is he supposed
- 56:53Speaker 1: to be comfortable and share with him what's on his
- 56:56Speaker 1: heart and feel very natural about that? They set this
- 56:59Speaker 1: up in such a way that he would be intimidated
- 57:01Speaker 1: and even threatened by them, and that is what they wanted.
- 57:04Speaker 1: They're continuing to haze him. I felt bad for him.
- 57:07Speaker 1: I personally saw probably the highest version of his answer
- 57:11Speaker 1: when he said she makes me feel confident. I just
- 57:13Speaker 1: took that to me. And she makes me feel like
- 57:15Speaker 1: strong and who I am. She makes me feel like
- 57:17Speaker 1: I've got a vision for my life. She makes me
- 57:19Speaker 1: feel like I know what I want and she gives
- 57:21Speaker 1: that to me. I give that to her, Like that's
- 57:23Speaker 1: what I heard him say. But like maybe that's just
- 57:25Speaker 1: me like trying to see the very best in him. Yeah,
- 57:29Speaker 1: I didn't know why that was so confusing for Ethan
- 57:31Speaker 1: to hear, other than maybe he's attaching masculinity to confidence,
- 57:37Speaker 1: like maybe a confident man would be somebody who presents
- 57:39Speaker 1: differently than Zach does, which I think leads to Ethan's
- 57:43Speaker 1: ultimate question, which is how we end this episode, which
- 57:46Speaker 1: is basically, so are you gay?
- 57:48Speaker 2: Dude? I cannot believe we're still doing.
- 57:50Speaker 1: This because you haven't kissed Lydia. You don't seem to
- 57:53Speaker 1: want to bang my sister, which is so weird because
- 57:56Speaker 1: real men would want that. So are you gay?
- 58:00Speaker 2: Girl?
- 58:00Speaker 1: I'm just like, listen, dude, I think in the first episode,
- 58:04Speaker 1: and I'm sorry, I'm moving my mic because we can
- 58:06Speaker 1: hear that. I apologize that. But I think in the
- 58:08Speaker 1: first episode I said I could see my brother if
- 58:11Speaker 1: I was with a guy like Zach, I could see
- 58:12Speaker 1: my brother saying, well, over it, you know, are you
- 58:16Speaker 1: sure he's like? I could see my brother doing something
- 58:19Speaker 1: like that. I mean, I see a world where that exists,
- 58:22Speaker 1: and my brother is not a homophobe. But the way
- 58:26Speaker 1: that Ethan did this and the the path he led
- 58:30Speaker 1: Zach down in order to get there, like by judging
- 58:34Speaker 1: and being critical of the not kissing and not wanting
- 58:37Speaker 1: to be intimate and all of these other things. The
- 58:40Speaker 1: way that he led him down that path was so insulting,
- 58:43Speaker 1: so homophobic, and so homophobic. Yeah, you know, and I'm
- 58:48Speaker 1: just gonna I'm gonna cop to the fact that I
- 58:52Speaker 1: have been giving Ethan a lot of grace over the
- 58:55Speaker 1: seasons because I am very sympathetic toward all the kids
- 59:00Speaker 1: for what they came up through. Because I was indoctrinated
- 59:03Speaker 1: as a young age. I think a lot of us
- 59:05Speaker 1: have that shared experience, and we know how stunted we were,
- 59:08Speaker 1: and so I get I get a lot of that.
- 59:10Speaker 1: But like he lost me. Yeah tonight, like like the
- 59:14Speaker 1: first episode or whatever, when he first questioned it about Zach,
- 59:18Speaker 1: I'm like, Okay, I can see my brother maybe saying okay,
- 59:21Speaker 1: well we.
- 59:21Speaker 2: Were questioning it too on the podcast.
- 59:23Speaker 1: Yes, But now dude using that as a weapon and
- 59:29Speaker 1: a way to be insulting. And you know that's how
- 59:32Speaker 1: he intended, because you see Zach's face immediately fall and
- 59:36Speaker 1: his mouth shut and he like receives the meaning of
- 59:40Speaker 1: what they're doing and what they're saying. He's like, Oh,
- 59:42Speaker 1: this is what we're gonna do, and we know next
- 59:44Speaker 1: week we're going to come back to it and Zach's
- 59:46Speaker 1: going to have an answer, but like that's what he
- 59:48Speaker 1: felt in this moment, like, Oh, is this what you
- 59:50Speaker 1: guys are doing to me? You're painting me out to
- 59:54Speaker 1: be gay and there's nothing there's nothing wrong with that.
- 59:57Speaker 1: Obviously we don't have it, but this is what you're
- 1:00:00Speaker 1: trying to do to me and Lydia after everything else
- 1:00:03Speaker 1: that you've already done. If Zach doesn't hate them, Like,
- 1:00:06Speaker 1: why are you following them?
- 1:00:08Speaker 2: Zach?
- 1:00:09Speaker 1: Why are you following them?
- 1:00:11Speaker 2: I know? And that's what I wondered too, because I'm like,
- 1:00:13Speaker 2: is this exactly? Is this actually how Ethan is feeling?
- 1:00:17Speaker 2: Is this for the producers like you mentioned? But I'm
- 1:00:19Speaker 2: like this is when he said that, and he had
- 1:00:22Speaker 2: a smile on his face, I was kind of nervous,
- 1:00:25Speaker 2: Like as a resident gay, I'm like that is threatening,
- 1:00:28Speaker 2: especially in the Deep South too, and like with this
- 1:00:32Speaker 2: very Christian family, I'm just like, yikes, Ethan, not a
- 1:00:36Speaker 2: good fucking look. I don't know who the fuck you
- 1:00:38Speaker 2: think you are? You again, like I said at the
- 1:00:41Speaker 2: top of the episode. You cannot like him, and that's fine,
- 1:00:45Speaker 2: but this behavior towards him unacceptable. The way you're talking
- 1:00:49Speaker 2: to him absolutely horrible. I'm like mad at Ethan.
- 1:00:53Speaker 1: Have you ever heard of the concept of a walk in?
- 1:00:56Speaker 1: It's like this metaphysical idea of that at some point
- 1:01:00Speaker 1: in your life, like you just decide you don't want
- 1:01:03Speaker 1: to be here anymore, and you give up your vessel,
- 1:01:04Speaker 1: your human being body, and then you allow some spirit
- 1:01:07Speaker 1: or alien to just walk in and continue your life,
- 1:01:10Speaker 1: but like with a different personality. Anyways, this whole thing,
- 1:01:13Speaker 1: I was hoping that Zach could be a walk in
- 1:01:17Speaker 1: and I could just step in to that moment, like,
- 1:01:19Speaker 1: just give me ten seconds with these Aryan Nation hitler
- 1:01:24Speaker 1: youth assholes, Just give me ten fucking seconds, because I
- 1:01:28Speaker 1: believe if Zach had shown any ancher and said, who
- 1:01:31Speaker 1: do you think you are questioning me? Did your marriage succeed?
- 1:01:35Speaker 1: How about you? Micah? I heard you're a cheater and
- 1:01:38Speaker 1: you're gonna sit there in judgment of me and try
- 1:01:40Speaker 1: to call me gig? What are you a home of phoe?
- 1:01:42Speaker 1: Like if you could just if Zach could have just
- 1:01:45Speaker 1: done that, but he's too young, he's too innocent, he
- 1:01:47Speaker 1: doesn't have the life experience. Just let me walk in,
- 1:01:50Speaker 1: tag me in for ten seconds, and let me take
- 1:01:53Speaker 1: care of these assholes.
- 1:01:54Speaker 2: Dude, dude, honestly, I'm rage so shocked at their behavior,
- 1:01:59Speaker 2: and like, this is what I was trying to get
- 1:02:00Speaker 2: out earlier in this episode, is that we could have
- 1:02:04Speaker 2: had like a genuine, maturesh conversation with the older brothers
- 1:02:10Speaker 2: stating that they are genuinely concerned because they've seen what
- 1:02:14Speaker 2: happened to Mariah. They saw that she's fundamentally broken. They're
- 1:02:18Speaker 2: worried about lydia because they don't know this guy and
- 1:02:20Speaker 2: they don't know his intentions. We could have had an actual,
- 1:02:24Speaker 2: like a nice conversation where we could have had Zach
- 1:02:27Speaker 2: easing their concerns and all this stuff. But no, we
- 1:02:30Speaker 2: have Ethan and Micah being complete fucking bigoted assholes, treating
- 1:02:36Speaker 2: Zach like shit, making fools of themselves on TV, and
- 1:02:41Speaker 2: being straight up homophobic, asking him if it's kay. I
- 1:02:44Speaker 2: hope that in the next episode we don't even see
- 1:02:46Speaker 2: Zach say no. I hope he gets up and is
- 1:02:48Speaker 2: like we're done here, bye, fuck you, We're done. I'm
- 1:02:52Speaker 2: not answering that question.
- 1:02:54Speaker 1: I hope for that. I don't think we're gonna get that,
- 1:02:56Speaker 1: but I really hope for that.
- 1:02:57Speaker 2: Yeah, I hope so too. But that's how we end
- 1:03:00Speaker 2: the episode. Shame, shame, I'm real. And then we have
- 1:03:04Speaker 2: the preview where we have Veronica talking shit to Amber
- 1:03:08Speaker 2: again about Mariah, and we see Amber.
- 1:03:12Speaker 1: Let me walk in, let me walk in ten seconds,
- 1:03:14Speaker 1: let me I got my brass knuckles in my purse. Veronica, dude,
- 1:03:19Speaker 1: you are you are not? You ain't shit. We're doing
- 1:03:23Speaker 1: this to a minor child who is then put in
- 1:03:25Speaker 1: the position of having to defend the family that she loves.
- 1:03:28Speaker 1: You toxic ass bitch.
- 1:03:31Speaker 2: And Amber, being based as always, straight up calls Veronica
- 1:03:34Speaker 2: out and is like, yeah, actually, I think you overexaggerate
- 1:03:37Speaker 2: like literally everything, so maybe you should chill out. Thank
- 1:03:40Speaker 2: you stop talking about thanks. And then we have Micah
- 1:03:45Speaker 2: talking to Ethan about the fact that Veronica has been
- 1:03:49Speaker 2: talking to Olibya and I can't wait to see Ethan
- 1:03:53Speaker 2: just pop off and his little cavement uga but gone mad.
- 1:03:57Speaker 1: I can't wait well, because he's been strange, so supportive
- 1:04:01Speaker 1: of Veronica, who is a weird o and has been
- 1:04:04Speaker 1: a weird do from day one. But for whatever reason,
- 1:04:07Speaker 1: Ethan's been supportive, but he's not supporting Zach, and then
- 1:04:11Speaker 1: it's gonna come back to bite him because this entire time,
- 1:04:15Speaker 1: Veronica has been talking to your arch nemesis.
- 1:04:17Speaker 2: Oh my God, a thing of beauty.
- 1:04:20Speaker 1: It's a beautiful thing.
- 1:04:21Speaker 3: So good.
- 1:04:22Speaker 2: I am most excited though, about the wedding because I
- 1:04:25Speaker 2: am wondering how all of this shit, all of this
- 1:04:28Speaker 2: tension between Ethan and Zach like escalates at the wedding.
- 1:04:32Speaker 2: Because I'm because I think Veronica said on Reddit that
- 1:04:37Speaker 2: the reason why the fight broke out was something to
- 1:04:39Speaker 2: do with Ethan being homophobic or whatever, or like calling Zach.
- 1:04:44Speaker 1: I don't believe her.
- 1:04:44Speaker 2: I don't believe her either, But with Ethan's behavior in
- 1:04:48Speaker 2: the last couple episodes, I'm like, I'm wondering, well, does
- 1:04:50Speaker 2: he object at the wedding and it starts a fight.
- 1:04:54Speaker 1: My prediction is by the time we get to the wedding,
- 1:04:57Speaker 1: everybody accepts Zach and it's not a problem. I think
- 1:05:01Speaker 1: the drama at the wedding is going to center around Veronica.
- 1:05:05Speaker 1: We know that Veronica leaves the wedding before Micah does
- 1:05:09Speaker 1: for whatever reason. Micah stays on gets super drunk, so
- 1:05:13Speaker 1: does Isaac, I imagine so does Ethan and Mariah, and
- 1:05:16Speaker 1: then there's a fight that breaks out and Veronica hears
- 1:05:19Speaker 1: about it after the fact. By the time that Micah
- 1:05:21Speaker 1: goes to the hospital because my boy Isaac took him out,
- 1:05:25Speaker 1: took him down, and that is the precursor to whatever
- 1:05:30Speaker 1: caused their breakup. I think I'm hoping that's the drama.
- 1:05:33Speaker 1: I'm hoping by the time we get to the wedding
- 1:05:36Speaker 1: we're not still doing this to Zach because I don't
- 1:05:39Speaker 1: like watching reality TV, for example, The Valley with everybody
- 1:05:43Speaker 1: just ganging up on Danny and Nia the entire and
- 1:05:46Speaker 1: it's so unwarranted, Like if this whole season is going
- 1:05:49Speaker 1: to be bullying this young man, like I'm going to
- 1:05:52Speaker 1: very quickly want to tap out. Yeah, but we'll see
- 1:05:54Speaker 1: what happens.
- 1:05:55Speaker 2: We'll definitely see what happens. This season is crazy. We're
- 1:05:58Speaker 2: only on episode.
- 1:05:58Speaker 1: Four, I know, and I'm very much liking it, so
- 1:06:01Speaker 1: I am excited me too to keep watching. I do
- 1:06:05Speaker 1: want to say that I don't think we gave Veronica
- 1:06:09Speaker 1: as much criticism and grief as she deserved from this episode.
- 1:06:12Speaker 2: Alone.
- 1:06:13Speaker 1: But I do acknowledge that we're going into an after
- 1:06:16Speaker 1: show and she's going to get it from me, She's
- 1:06:18Speaker 1: going to get it from social media, she's going to
- 1:06:21Speaker 1: get it from us, and she deserves it.
- 1:06:24Speaker 3: She does.
- 1:06:25Speaker 1: So is there anything else before we head on over
- 1:06:27Speaker 1: to the after show that we should be saying to
- 1:06:30Speaker 1: these raccoons before we get up on at a here.
- 1:06:33Speaker 2: Beatrice, Well, if you love our podcast, please be sure

- 1:06:48Speaker 1: it over.
- 1:06:48Speaker 2: Should we read it in the after show?
- 1:06:50Speaker 1: Maybe we should read it in the after show, but
- 1:06:52Speaker 1: I was just like, oh my god, this person is
- 1:06:54Speaker 1: so wonderful and lovely and she gets us.
