- 0:22SPEAKER_01: Hello, everybody, and welcome back to the Tortured Fans Department Podcast.
- 0:26SPEAKER_01: I'm Sean Boyle, and I am joined by my good friend, my right hand man, Mr.
- 0:30SPEAKER_01: Michael Blum.
- 0:30SPEAKER_01: Blum, how are you?
- 0:32SPEAKER_00: Sean, I'm doing well.
- 0:33SPEAKER_00: Happy to be back on the pod, and uh, feel like it's been a while since this has been us, so excited to uh get into all the sports.
- 0:39SPEAKER_01: It has been a while, yes.
- 0:40SPEAKER_01: You came on the replay room pretty recently, but it's been a while since you've been on this channel.
- 0:44SPEAKER_01: I'm excited to have you back.
- 0:46SPEAKER_01: We've got a lot to get to, and as listeners will know, you're the guy who wears a ton of different hats around here.
- 0:51SPEAKER_01: Kind of a jack of all trades.
- 0:53SPEAKER_01: I would say master of all trades, too.
- 0:54SPEAKER_01: I'm not gonna disparage you.
- 0:55SPEAKER_01: So we've got to talk a little bit of college football.
- 0:58SPEAKER_01: We'll dive more into college football next week.
- 1:01SPEAKER_01: Um I think Jake Myers is gonna come back on.
- 1:03SPEAKER_01: He's our college football expert.
- 1:04SPEAKER_01: We'll just dip our toes in that water.
- 1:06SPEAKER_01: We've got NFL to catch up on, we've got an NBA preview, which is the main reason Michael Blum is here.
- 1:12SPEAKER_01: He's an NBA enthusiast, especially the Philadelphia 76ers.
- 1:15SPEAKER_01: And then we've got a couple of wrap-up topics that I think are pretty interesting.
- 1:19SPEAKER_01: A lot to get to and not a lot of time to do it.
- 1:21SPEAKER_01: Blum, are you ready to dive in?
- 1:23SPEAKER_00: Let's do it.
- 1:24SPEAKER_01: We'll start in college football.
- 1:26SPEAKER_01: Last weekend we saw the big game that everybody was talking about was Alabama versus Georgia.
- 1:32SPEAKER_01: My biggest takeaway from this one was both of these teams are really, really good.
- 1:37SPEAKER_01: Yes, Georgia won in Alabama, but the weather was kind of shitty.
- 1:40SPEAKER_01: The refs were kind of on Georgia's side, I would say.
- 1:43SPEAKER_01: There's some questionable calls.
- 1:44SPEAKER_01: I don't want to say that too loud, so cousin Jeremy gets all riled up, but I feel like Alabama is at least equal with Georgia, and those are two of the best teams in the country.
- 1:53SPEAKER_01: The biggest story for me last week, though, was the Kentucky Wildcats.
- 1:58SPEAKER_01: Will Stein, first year head coach in Kentucky, has not only changed the vibe around the program, which was always considered near the bottom of the SEC, it's been termed a basketball school, with a ceiling on the football program, he has changed the culture and expectations around Kentucky as well.
- 2:14SPEAKER_01: They upset LSU at Kroger Field.
- 2:17SPEAKER_01: And I think the metaphorical ceiling doesn't exist anymore.
- 2:21SPEAKER_01: And fans are starting to dream, which is the best part of being a fan.
- 2:24SPEAKER_01: I think that's when I'm at my happiest as a fan is when I live in La La Land.
- 2:29SPEAKER_01: And perhaps not reality, because reality there's some torture that comes with it.
- 2:33SPEAKER_01: But Kentucky's in a really good place right now.
- 2:35SPEAKER_01: Will Stein's smart, he works hard, he loves Kentucky, which is rare.
- 2:39SPEAKER_01: He grew up a big Kentucky fan, so that's a real, real good thing for the cats in terms of keeping him around.
- 2:45SPEAKER_01: And then the moment on the field after the game, the fans rush the field, of course.
- 2:50SPEAKER_01: And then the local boy, Tyler Childers, a Kentuckian himself, his song All Yorn comes on, and the fans took over the chorus, and it was really cool to see.
- 2:59SPEAKER_01: A good moment for Big Blue.
- 3:01SPEAKER_01: It's rare in sports that you're on the right side of these kind of special moments.
- 3:05SPEAKER_01: There's only one or two a weekend.
- 3:07SPEAKER_01: Usually it's not your team.
- 3:08SPEAKER_01: I was happy for the people of Kentucky that it was them this weekend.
- 3:11SPEAKER_00: So, Sean, you mentioned there's no ceiling right now.
- 3:15SPEAKER_00: So as we sit here after week six, what Kentucky football result at the end of the season would happen?
- 3:23SPEAKER_00: Like how their season ends, whether it be college football playoff, SCC championship, where you would be like, I am happy with this season at this current point.
- 3:30SPEAKER_01: I don't want to sound like I'm covering, but I think if they win two or three more games this season's a Smashing C, they their win total before the year blum was three and a half or four and a half, according to Vegas.
- 3:43SPEAKER_01: They had a tough schedule.
- 3:44SPEAKER_01: They were predicted to win four games basically, if you take the average of those.
- 3:48SPEAKER_01: They've already won five.
- 3:49SPEAKER_01: They're five and one.
- 3:50SPEAKER_01: They Will Stein started his career on the road with two road wins in the SEC.
- 3:54SPEAKER_01: He's now beaten LSU at home, so the fans have had that kind of moment.
- 3:57SPEAKER_01: Now, sitting here at this point, you're you're right.
- 4:00SPEAKER_01: I don't know that I would be thrilled if we lost five of the last six when you say it like that.
- 4:06SPEAKER_01: But I think if they can win two or three more games and get to eight or nine wins, that's a really, really great season.
- 4:13SPEAKER_01: I'm comfortable though with fans letting their imaginations run wild.
- 4:16SPEAKER_01: Picture yourself in that playoff.
- 4:17SPEAKER_01: I think if Kentucky continues to play well, it's definitely out there, it's doable.
- 4:21SPEAKER_01: It's just going to be tough sledding because their schedule doesn't really relent anytime soon.
- 4:25SPEAKER_00: Yeah, and we'll get into it with the you know week seven preview, but SEC is just a complete gauntlet and teams are just falling left and right.
- 4:34SPEAKER_00: And we can get into like how many losses may an SEC team have and still get in.
- 4:41SPEAKER_00: So I'd be curious to get your thoughts on that.
- 4:43SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I think that's a good point you make about the SEC.
- 4:46SPEAKER_01: It's honestly like the NFL, where they call it a week-to-week league and each team could beat anybody on any given Sunday.
- 4:52SPEAKER_01: Well, the SEC's kind of like that now.
- 4:53SPEAKER_01: There's a couple of teams that aren't at the level, I would say Vanderbilt's definitely one that you think you should beat, at least this year.
- 5:00SPEAKER_01: They've been good the last couple years, but the SEC is brutal.
- 5:03SPEAKER_01: And you can really lose to anybody at any time, especially if you're a team like Kentucky who doesn't have the depth of an Alabama or a Georgia yet.
- 5:12SPEAKER_01: I think they'll get there under Will Stein, but this first year, they don't have that depth yet.
- 5:16SPEAKER_01: So it's a quick turnaround.
- 5:18SPEAKER_01: They go to Oklahoma this week, which we'll talk about.
- 5:19SPEAKER_01: But I think we're at least gonna see a couple of three loss teams in the playoff.
- 5:23SPEAKER_01: The only problem is that team could, in theory, come from the Big Ten as well.
- 5:28SPEAKER_01: So out of 12 teams, if two only have three losses, it's gonna be tough to be one of those.
- 5:33SPEAKER_01: So it's it's really brutal, it's grueling, there's a lot still to play for, and every week matters.
- 5:39SPEAKER_01: We'll take our attention to this slate this coming Saturday, bomb.
- 5:44SPEAKER_01: I often refer to some weekends in October when the schedule's bad as apple picking weekends.
- 5:48SPEAKER_01: You don't have to be by your TV, the NFL slate might look bad, college is whatever, there's a game at night.
- 5:53SPEAKER_01: This is not one of those weekends.
- 5:54SPEAKER_01: This is the best Saturday of college football, at least on paper that we've had all year.
- 5:58SPEAKER_01: And it starts at noon.
- 5:59SPEAKER_01: We have OSU Indiana, Florida, Texas, and Mississippi State at LSU all at noon.
- 6:05SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I want to say we have at least, what, six or seven matchups between ranked teams.
- 6:09SPEAKER_00: But yeah, on the noon front, I think the one that I'm probably most looking forward to is in the Big Ten with Ohio State, Indiana.
- 6:16SPEAKER_00: I mean, the big noon kick, I know it's a Fox thing, it's a Big Ten thing, but like I just wish we could go away from that.
- 6:23SPEAKER_00: Like some people, like I'm a morning person, so I'm awake.
- 6:26SPEAKER_00: Some people aren't maybe fully awake, some people are still at brunch.
- 6:30SPEAKER_00: I think that the big noon should be, you know, you whet the appetite.
- 6:34SPEAKER_00: Give me like uh a Michigan State Ruckers, and then we build up to the main event.
- 6:38SPEAKER_00: Um, I don't know if you agree with that, Sean, but uh not a fan of the Big Noon.
- 6:42SPEAKER_01: Uh I completely agree.
- 6:44SPEAKER_01: I've never been a fan of the biggest game on the Big Ten calendar that weekend being or taking place at noon.
- 6:50SPEAKER_01: I just feel like, like you said, people you need to ease into the day a little bit.
- 6:54SPEAKER_01: Give me a couple of powder puff games before we get the heavy, heavy meal, the the main entree.
- 7:00SPEAKER_01: I think also the West Coast, I mean, that's 9 a.m.
- 7:03SPEAKER_01: for people in California.
- 7:05SPEAKER_01: So now that the Big Ten has teams throughout California and Oregon and Washington, I don't know that it's a good idea to keep this big noon kick a thing.
- 7:14SPEAKER_01: They keep trying to shove it down our throats.
- 7:15SPEAKER_01: It's not going away, it seems like it's oh, it's our version of game day.
- 7:19SPEAKER_01: Well, yeah, game day doesn't necessarily force feed their biggest game at noon each week.
- 7:24SPEAKER_01: They just do a nice show in the morning and then they let the games play out in their big games at night.
- 7:28SPEAKER_01: So I agree with you on that front.
- 7:30SPEAKER_01: The Ohio State Indiana game is going to be the one I'm watching as well.
- 7:33SPEAKER_01: It's four vs five in the country.
- 7:36SPEAKER_01: It's Signetti trying to do it again in Ohio State, a team that already has one of those losses.
- 7:41SPEAKER_01: So I think I would pick Ohio State just on paper because I don't see them taking another loss at this point in the season, but it's certainly an interesting one with a lot at stake.
- 7:50SPEAKER_01: And then at 3.30, the SEC takes over center stage one with two big games.
- 7:55SPEAKER_00: Yeah, so Bama, Tennessee, Missouri all miss will have my attention during this hour.
- 8:01SPEAKER_00: And then I know we mentioned again Mac at noon, the Mississippi State LSU game.
- 8:06SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 8:07SPEAKER_00: Uh you mentioned your Wildcats, a big win against them last weekend.
- 8:11SPEAKER_00: Lane has two losses already, right?
- 8:13SPEAKER_00: So again, if we get the three losses, not only just in general, but in mid-October.
- 8:19SPEAKER_00: I am not a lane guy.
- 8:20SPEAKER_00: I like him for the sport.
- 8:22SPEAKER_00: I think he is the type of coach that you need.
- 8:25SPEAKER_00: And again, he's just very entertaining and how he goes about things.
- 8:29SPEAKER_00: He makes himself bigger than the team in the program.
- 8:32SPEAKER_00: So curious to see if we get a three-loss lane this early in the season and then how that could affect potentially their playoff hopes.
- 8:39SPEAKER_01: Yeah, this is certainly a must-win for LSU because their schedule gets brutal as well.
- 8:44SPEAKER_01: This is a home game against Mississippi State with a questionable Camario Taylor.
- 8:48SPEAKER_01: So if he doesn't play, I would expect LSU to win, and it's certainly a must-win in that situation.
- 8:53SPEAKER_01: And if he does play, then they have the work cut out for them, and they're going to need to figure out a way to get it done because there's a lot of expectations for immediate success with Lane Kiffin of LSU, especially the manner in which he took over.
- 9:05SPEAKER_01: You're right about how he makes it all about him and not the team.
- 9:08SPEAKER_01: It's great for college football.
- 9:10SPEAKER_01: I'm just glad he's not my coach, is how I would frame that.
- 9:12SPEAKER_01: He was at Kroger Field last weekend, they kept cutting to him, and he just has this absolute snivel on his face at all times.
- 9:19SPEAKER_01: I can't stand looking at him.
- 9:21SPEAKER_01: It's all it's the lame show, and we're all just happy to be there, is what he thinks.
- 9:25SPEAKER_01: I'm glad he kind of got outcoached and outclassed by Will Stein in that matchup.
- 9:29SPEAKER_01: And I hope it happens again with Mississippi.
- 9:32SPEAKER_01: I just think that's a tough ask to go into Death Valley and win.
- 9:35SPEAKER_01: The other two games you mentioned, Bama, Tennessee, you would expect Bama to bounce back and take care of business, but going on the road to Tennessee is not going to be easy.
- 9:42SPEAKER_01: And then Missouri will miss is another shootout where Austin Simmons, Missouri's quarterback against Trinidad Chambliss, two good quarterbacks with some NFL prospects.
- 9:50SPEAKER_01: I think that's an interesting game as well.
- 9:52SPEAKER_01: The SEC, like we talked about, you just can't look away.
- 9:55SPEAKER_01: There's a big game everywhere.
- 9:57SPEAKER_01: And Saturday's a huge day for the conference.
- 9:59SPEAKER_01: Finally, we get to the Night Slate, which another top 10 matchup bomb.
- 10:03SPEAKER_01: Notre Dame is finally being tested.
- 10:05SPEAKER_01: They go to BYU, which is one of only two tests on Notre Dame's entire schedule.
- 10:10SPEAKER_01: And then in the SEC again, we have my cats going to Oklahoma, two teams coming off of massive wins, and it's going to be one of those situations where one of the groups of 19, 20, 21-year-olds is going to respond well after celebrating a big win and one isn't.
- 10:23SPEAKER_01: And I hope I'm on the right side of that.
- 10:25SPEAKER_00: Yeah, two more or so uh things to note.
- 10:28SPEAKER_00: I'm a casual college football fan, had no idea BYU was not only good this year, but in the top 10.
- 10:34SPEAKER_00: So good for them.
- 10:35SPEAKER_00: And we can put a ball on this segment with one question, Sean.
- 10:41SPEAKER_00: Um, I want to know gun to your head, who's the best team in the SEC right now?
- 10:44SPEAKER_01: That's a great one.
- 10:45SPEAKER_01: I'll say Georgia.
- 10:46SPEAKER_01: I'll say Georgia.
- 10:47SPEAKER_01: Just because they beat Bama, I think at the end of the season it could be Alabama, but I think it's between those two.
- 10:54SPEAKER_01: I don't think Texas is in that conversation anymore.
- 10:57SPEAKER_01: And I know they've beaten Ohio State, but Arch just hasn't grown at all.
- 11:02SPEAKER_01: And I hate, like, I feel like we're beating a dead horse here.
- 11:04SPEAKER_01: Talk about Arch all the time, and it's because of his name.
- 11:07SPEAKER_01: But their offense is not good enough, I don't think.
- 11:09SPEAKER_01: Their defense has carried them throughout this season.
- 11:11SPEAKER_01: So I would go Georgia, but I think maybe five weeks from now I'd switch to Bama.
- 11:17SPEAKER_00: Yeah, Arch, not the guy.
- 11:18SPEAKER_01: No.
- 11:19SPEAKER_01: We need to start talking about some other guys that are having great years and just let Arch do his thing for a while.
- 11:23SPEAKER_01: Because it seems like Arch is coming back to school too.
- 11:25SPEAKER_01: Eli Manning kind of let one slip when he was talking about him.
- 11:28SPEAKER_01: He was saying next year when he referred to something, so maybe he knows the plan.
- 11:32SPEAKER_01: But it seems like Arch is nowhere near a finished product yet.
- 11:35SPEAKER_00: Well, I would assume if they're not getting, I would say, a top 10 guarantee, I could see that just because obviously the NIL money like that, and you can't go from, you know, a guy first overall projected, and now you're sliding into like, you know, day two of the draft.
- 11:49SPEAKER_00: That's just not a big look.
- 11:50SPEAKER_01: That's that's a good point.
- 11:51SPEAKER_01: That's a good point.
- 11:52SPEAKER_01: Because once you fall outside that top 10, there's not necessarily a lot of teams that need a quarterback or are going to be spending a first-round pick on a quarterback.
- 11:59SPEAKER_01: So that's a good point by you.
- 12:00SPEAKER_01: We just mentioned the NFL draft.
- 12:02SPEAKER_01: Let's move into the NFL.
- 12:03SPEAKER_01: We've got a lot to discuss here, Blum.
- 12:06SPEAKER_01: There's still a lot of uncertainty in the league, I would say.
- 12:08SPEAKER_01: There's a lot of teams sitting at 3-2 or 2-3.
- 12:11SPEAKER_01: I think there's some chameleons kind of hiding with false records, I would say.
- 12:16SPEAKER_01: Maybe overinflated, maybe a team that started really poorly and is looking to bounce back.
- 12:21SPEAKER_01: I kind of just want to do a check-in and answer some questions.
- 12:25SPEAKER_01: Let's start with a pretty simple one.
- 12:27SPEAKER_01: Which teams do we know are good?
- 12:31SPEAKER_00: So and there's two categories here, Sean.
- 12:33SPEAKER_00: We'll start with the first one.
- 12:35SPEAKER_00: We'll call this one the obvious good, where I'm not second guessing anything about these teams.
- 12:41SPEAKER_00: Can safely say that they will be playoff teams.
- 12:44SPEAKER_00: Uh, I have six of them for you.
- 12:45SPEAKER_00: The Bills just had a very impressive Monday night win on the road against the Rams.
- 12:50SPEAKER_00: Uh, the Jags look very solid on both sides of the ball.
- 12:54SPEAKER_00: They have a stranglehold on that division in the AFC South.
- 12:57SPEAKER_00: Uh Ravens, who hopefully will get their quarterback quarterback back this week, Lamar Jackson.
- 13:02SPEAKER_00: Uh Chiefs, undefeated.
- 13:04SPEAKER_00: Mahomes looks like himself.
- 13:05SPEAKER_00: 49ers, who I could argue the best team in football, just had a very impressive win in Seattle.
- 13:12SPEAKER_00: I think I would say Brock Purdy, MVP, if we're calling the season after five weeks.
- 13:18SPEAKER_00: And I'll put the Seahawks in this category.
- 13:20SPEAKER_00: They're three and two.
- 13:22SPEAKER_00: You know, tough loss this week, but I don't think there's any doubting that, you know, this team is going to be in contention for a Super Bowl.
- 13:29SPEAKER_00: Defense is very strong.
- 13:31SPEAKER_00: Sam Darnold hasn't been the most encouraging watch this year, but I think overall as a team, I will feel comfortable putting them into this category.
- 13:39SPEAKER_01: First of all, I love that you broke down the question.
- 13:41SPEAKER_01: That's what they ask you to do too.
- 13:43SPEAKER_01: If you don't know the direct answer, you break it down step by step.
- 13:46SPEAKER_01: I like that you did the obvious good teams, and then we'll get to the benefit of the doubt good teams in a second.
- 13:51SPEAKER_01: But going over the ones you listed there, you went through six, and I have to say I do agree with all six.
- 13:56SPEAKER_01: I wouldn't poke any holes in any of the six you mentioned.
- 13:59SPEAKER_01: I'm with you on the Seahawks.
- 14:00SPEAKER_01: I still think they're a very good team, even if Darnold is not looking his best.
- 14:05SPEAKER_01: He does that from time to time.
- 14:06SPEAKER_01: You know what I mean?
- 14:07SPEAKER_01: They won a Super Bowl with this guy.
- 14:09SPEAKER_01: He didn't necessarily set the world on fire last year either, but he does enough.
- 14:12SPEAKER_01: And in the big moments, I do still trust him.
- 14:15SPEAKER_01: I think you mentioned Brock Purdy MVP, and I have to agree, at this point of the season, he is the favorite for MVP.
- 14:20SPEAKER_01: In part because of how good the Niners have been, but also because of how good he's been.
- 14:25SPEAKER_01: And he's got a little flash to him, bum.
- 14:27SPEAKER_01: He's run, he runs around well, he's got a little swagger to him.
- 14:30SPEAKER_01: He's little, but he moves quick.
- 14:32SPEAKER_01: I will warn you though, and this is a running bit that myself and Michael Collins have been doing for years.
- 14:38SPEAKER_01: Pumpkin Purdy is a thing.
- 14:40SPEAKER_01: When pumpkins are still out and about, it's uh it's Halloween, even up to Thanksgiving.
- 14:45SPEAKER_01: Pumpkin patch season is Brock Purdy season.
- 14:48SPEAKER_01: When the frost starts rolling in bum and the games get a little colder, he does wilt away, and those gourds go bad pretty quick.
- 14:57SPEAKER_01: I want to see if Brock could actually do it for a full season.
- 15:00SPEAKER_01: So I'm a little bit skeptical of how sustainable this is for the Niners because they always seem to be injured too.
- 15:06SPEAKER_01: It all adds up at once, it seems like for them, but they have been the best team in football.
- 15:10SPEAKER_01: And with Kyle Shanahan, I think you could slot one of us in at quarterback and we do it at least a decent job.
- 15:16SPEAKER_01: But that's not to take away from Brock either, because he's looked excellent.
- 15:19SPEAKER_01: So I think the Niners are the best team.
- 15:21SPEAKER_01: I think the teams you mentioned are really good.
- 15:23SPEAKER_01: Now, what teams do you think are benefit of the doubt good, but maybe not in that same tier?
- 15:27SPEAKER_00: Yeah, so I have four teams for you.
- 15:30SPEAKER_00: First team is the Patriots, who have done a complete 180 the last two weeks.
- 15:36SPEAKER_00: Uh very good win in Buffalo two weeks ago.
- 15:39SPEAKER_00: Then they manhandled the Raiders um in Foxville this past weekend.
- 15:43SPEAKER_00: Uh Drake May looks to be back to normal.
- 15:46SPEAKER_00: Uh the Broncos, I they teeter in this category and just, you know, an average team.
- 15:52SPEAKER_00: We'll get into the offense in a bit, but I'm willing to trust Sean Payton and what they showed me last year, and I think we'll turn it around, give them the benefit of the doubt after a rough start.
- 16:02SPEAKER_00: Lions as well, they're three and two, one of the worst defenses in the league.
- 16:06SPEAKER_00: But if we're talking MVPs, I would put Jared Goff up there as well.
- 16:10SPEAKER_00: I know the team record isn't there, but he has been lights out at quarterback for them, and a big reason I'm still putting them in this category.
- 16:18SPEAKER_00: And then the only team that is under 500, uh, the Rams, three and two in this category.
- 16:24SPEAKER_00: Again, Stafford, McVay, Puka, Devonta, they'll figure it out.
- 16:27SPEAKER_00: They've had a tough schedule.
- 16:28SPEAKER_00: Uh, I'm not worried about the Bills loss, just two good teams, and it came down to you know kicking field goals at the end.
- 16:33SPEAKER_00: So definitely want to give the Rams the benefit of the benefit of the doubt here as well.
- 16:37SPEAKER_01: Yeah, rest in peace, my guy Meavis.
- 16:40SPEAKER_01: Tough, tough, unfortunate turn of events for him.
- 16:42SPEAKER_01: He's cut, he's off the team after getting his game tying.
- 16:46SPEAKER_01: Was it game tying or game winning field goal blocked?
- 16:48SPEAKER_01: It was game winning because it was after Chamber Cook's fumble.
- 16:50SPEAKER_01: Yeah, so that was a heavyweight bout.
- 16:53SPEAKER_01: And it was in such a good fight bomb that I almost put the Rams in the teams we know are good, even though they're two and three.
- 17:00SPEAKER_01: I ended up not doing it because of their record, but they basically gave the Niners a win in Australia with how they decided to travel over there.
- 17:07SPEAKER_01: They just wrote that one off in week one.
- 17:09SPEAKER_01: And then in this game against the Bills, I mean, you just saw what could be a Super Bowl matchup, in my opinion.
- 17:14SPEAKER_01: It looked the part of a high-quality NFL game, and they still don't have Miles Garrett playing.
- 17:20SPEAKER_01: So I think once they get him healthy, their schedule eases up a bit these next few weeks.
- 17:25SPEAKER_01: Their record's gonna look a lot different.
- 17:27SPEAKER_01: They do need to figure out special teams.
- 17:28SPEAKER_01: It feels like Sean McVay's been plagued by special teams for the last five years.
- 17:32SPEAKER_01: So that would be my main concern with the Rams and why they may ultimately be not in that elite tier right now.
- 17:38SPEAKER_01: But I do agree with the rest of these.
- 17:40SPEAKER_01: It's teams that we're giving the benefit of the doubt to because you have to assume some of these teams in the NFL are good, but they all have holes.
- 17:46SPEAKER_01: The Broncos are kind of the opposite of the Lions, where boy, does their offense look bad.
- 17:50SPEAKER_01: Bo Nicks looks hammered every possession.
- 17:53SPEAKER_01: He's he's running out there, he's yelling at Sean Payton now because Sean Payton took over play calling duty.
- 17:58SPEAKER_01: The Lions are the opposite.
- 17:59SPEAKER_01: They can't stop anybody, but their offense looks amazing.
- 18:03SPEAKER_01: I don't know what to make of either of those teams, and there's another team that is 5-0 that I don't know if either of us know what to do with in the Minnesota Vikings.
- 18:12SPEAKER_00: They have, I would say, the best defense in the league and one of the worst offenses in the league.
- 18:18SPEAKER_00: I think Kevin O'Connell has finally met his match on a quarterback he can't fix, and that being Kyler Murray.
- 18:26SPEAKER_00: You know, they had some injuries.
- 18:27SPEAKER_00: Justin Jefferson has been out of the lineup.
- 18:29SPEAKER_00: Um, Jordan Mason's on IR.
- 18:31SPEAKER_00: But again, they're five and a like we're not discrediting that at all.
- 18:36SPEAKER_00: They have beaten some teams.
- 18:39SPEAKER_00: Um, you know, I wouldn't say any Super Bowl contenders, but they've had some impressive wins.
- 18:43SPEAKER_00: Well, my bear is.
- 18:44SPEAKER_01: But this is not Super Bowl contender.
- 18:47SPEAKER_01: So once Caleb's healthy, we're right back in this conversation.
- 18:50SPEAKER_00: Well, Tyson Bajent, if we want to put them out there.
- 18:54SPEAKER_01: Yeah, that's that's fair.
- 18:56SPEAKER_00: But yeah, this is a team that I am not taking seriously.
- 19:00SPEAKER_00: Like they could very well finish this season 14-3 and win the North, and I can't trust them to win a playoff game.
- 19:08SPEAKER_00: So, Minnesota, I hope you enjoy this team because it seems like it's like basically a carbon copy of the Sam Darnold Vikings from a few years ago, just with a better quarterback.
- 19:18SPEAKER_01: Yeah, that's actually a good point.
- 19:19SPEAKER_01: I hadn't thought about that, and I almost forgot about the Sam Darnold in Minnesota era, but it's it's a real testament to the coaching there because at least Brian Flores.
- 19:28SPEAKER_01: I'm not gonna say too much about Kevin O'Connell because you're right, he really hasn't broken through with either JJ McCarthy, who they just shipped out of town, or Kyler Murray, and he's supposed to be this quarterback whisperer.
- 19:38SPEAKER_01: I'm waiting to see what quarterbacks he's whispering to, because Sam Darnold's actually just pretty good if he's not in New York.
- 19:44SPEAKER_01: But Brian Flores, are there common household names on that defense that I'm unaware of?
- 19:49SPEAKER_01: Because I don't know that I can name you more than two or three defenders on that team, and you're right, they're probably the best defense in football.
- 19:55SPEAKER_00: They have uh Dallas Turner, who is a good player, becoming one of the best edge rushers in the league.
- 20:02SPEAKER_00: But outside of that, secondary linebacking core, I not a name comes to the top of my mind right now.
- 20:08SPEAKER_01: They have a Wilson that got in the little fight with the ref.
- 20:11SPEAKER_01: I don't know anything about how good he is.
- 20:13SPEAKER_01: And I think they have a Van Ginkle.
- 20:15SPEAKER_01: I think they might have Van Ginkle running around, but I can't confirm.
- 20:18SPEAKER_01: And that's just that shows you what they're doing.
- 20:20SPEAKER_01: I mean, they they have nameless gray faces and they're unbelievable defensively.
- 20:25SPEAKER_00: And after every game, the quarterback almost always goes up the floors and goes, like, hey buddy, like great work.
- 20:31SPEAKER_00: I've never seen anything like that.
- 20:32SPEAKER_00: You just made my life hell.
- 20:33SPEAKER_00: It's like every game, the handshake is some type of interaction like that.
- 20:37SPEAKER_00: So that just speaks to how incredible he is.
- 20:39SPEAKER_01: That's so sick.
- 20:40SPEAKER_01: I love that because that really speaks to just the chess match of football.
- 20:43SPEAKER_01: And if you're good enough at your craft, you could create such an advantage for your team, even if you're underskilled in the talent department.
- 20:50SPEAKER_01: So credit to the Vikings, but neither of us are buying what you're selling.
- 20:54SPEAKER_01: I think we should flip the script now, Bloom.
- 20:57SPEAKER_01: Let's take care of the bottom of the barrel.
- 20:59SPEAKER_01: What teams do we know are bad?
- 21:01SPEAKER_00: Yep.
- 21:01SPEAKER_00: So I have four teams here.
- 21:03SPEAKER_00: We call them the obvious bad teams.
- 21:05SPEAKER_00: Uh, first off, the Miami Dolphins.
- 21:08SPEAKER_00: 0-5.
- 21:10SPEAKER_00: They've been more competitive in games than I thought they would be, but um, Malik Willis, clearly not the guy.
- 21:18SPEAKER_00: Uh losing H hand to a you know ACL doesn't help the cause.
- 21:22SPEAKER_00: Defense isn't great.
- 21:23SPEAKER_00: Um, I get to loop them in with the Titans as well.
- 21:26SPEAKER_00: Don't want to spend too much time on my team, but just the disaster all around both sides of the ball.
- 21:32SPEAKER_00: You can't bench Cam Ward because you need to figure out what you have in him.
- 21:36SPEAKER_00: So just have to hope we see something, or else it might be, you know, another quarterback coming in next year.
- 21:43SPEAKER_00: Uh the Chargers, which we'll get into the biggest negative surprises in a bit, so I won't spend too much time on them, but that's just been a dumpster fire over there in LA.
- 21:54SPEAKER_00: And then the Cardinals, I mean, they play in the toughest division in the sport.
- 21:58SPEAKER_00: Chico Weaver said's fun.
- 22:00SPEAKER_00: He was fun for fantasy, he'll put up some points, but ultimately they're just going to lose every game, you know, 45 to 20 because that defense is just as helpless.
- 22:08SPEAKER_01: I didn't realize quite how bad their defense was to pick up just on the Cardinals front.
- 22:13SPEAKER_01: Yeah, it's not a great sign for me as you were reading these teams off, and I agree with you on all of them.
- 22:19SPEAKER_01: The three quarterbacks I have on my dynasty roster do fall on these three of these four teams.
- 22:23SPEAKER_01: So I have Cam Ward, who, like you said, he's a disaster.
- 22:27SPEAKER_01: I don't know if we should bench him.
- 22:28SPEAKER_01: We should bench Bob Salah.
- 22:30SPEAKER_01: This guy cannot be a head coach.
- 22:32SPEAKER_01: I don't know what we were thinking hiring him.
- 22:34SPEAKER_01: A defensive-minded coach with a quarterback that you just invested a first overall pick in is crazy.
- 22:41SPEAKER_01: He stinks.
- 22:41SPEAKER_01: The Titans stink.
- 22:42SPEAKER_01: I do I hate to see that for you.
- 22:45SPEAKER_01: The Chargers, Justin Herbert and Jim Harbaugh.
- 22:48SPEAKER_01: Oh my god, is it a disaster?
- 22:50SPEAKER_01: It gets worse and worse each week.
- 22:52SPEAKER_01: Just when you think they've hit a new low, it gets lower.
- 22:55SPEAKER_01: And I don't think they're done yet.
- 22:57SPEAKER_01: I think they go to Kansas City this week.
- 22:59SPEAKER_01: Have fun there.
- 23:00SPEAKER_01: I mean, they might not win a game before Harbaugh leaves town.
- 23:04SPEAKER_01: And the Dolphins, oh, when you look at their coaching staff, I was unfamiliar with the guy that they hired as their head coach, Hafley, Hapley, whatever his name is.
- 23:12SPEAKER_01: But he has a staff.
- 23:13SPEAKER_01: He has Kevin Patulo on staff, the guy that the Eagles ran out of town as maybe the worst coordinator ever.
- 23:19SPEAKER_01: He has Bush Hamden as his quarterback coach.
- 23:21SPEAKER_01: Let me tell you something about Bush Hamden.
- 23:23SPEAKER_01: He was the Kentucky offensive coordinator.
- 23:24SPEAKER_01: He almost set the sport of football back decades.
- 23:27SPEAKER_01: He was basically running a wing T with a non-running quarterback.
- 23:31SPEAKER_01: He's atrocious.
- 23:32SPEAKER_01: So that's just a bad staff, a bad football team.
- 23:35SPEAKER_01: Those teams definitely stink.
- 23:36SPEAKER_01: What about teams that we think are bad, or at least we don't have much faith in?
- 23:40SPEAKER_00: Yeah, so these are teams that either have an okay record right now, or I would say maybe have some talent to be better that I'm just not buying.
- 23:49SPEAKER_00: So the first team is the Jets.
- 23:51SPEAKER_00: They've had a couple impressive wins.
- 23:53SPEAKER_00: They took down the Browns last week, but again, a Geno Smith ball club, Brees Hall hurt right now.
- 24:01SPEAKER_00: Defense is much better than I thought.
- 24:02SPEAKER_00: They're staying in the games with their defense, but in terms of, you know, when we see the first playoff picture graphic in week 10, you won't see the Jets there.
- 24:11SPEAKER_00: The Browns, listen, this could be the Browns Super Bowl.
- 24:15SPEAKER_00: They were 3-1, they're now 3-2.
- 24:17SPEAKER_00: The Sean Watson does not look terrible, but I'm not buying them at all.
- 24:23SPEAKER_00: They will slowly fade into obscurity.
- 24:26SPEAKER_00: I think uh a six-win season is not out of the question, which is big for them, but in terms of playoff hopes, writing them off.
- 24:33SPEAKER_00: Other Raiders, they had a very fun first three weeks, but two rough losses the last two weeks.
- 24:40SPEAKER_00: Uh Kirk Cousins has maybe you know revived his career a little bit.
- 24:45SPEAKER_00: He's been great.
- 24:46SPEAKER_00: Uh they gotten Brock Bowers back, but again, not a team I'm buying to compete with the Chiefs with the Broncos in that division.
- 24:52SPEAKER_00: And then uh two NFC South teams, the Falcons and the Bucks.
- 24:56SPEAKER_00: I went on this program and said the Falcons will have the worst record in football this year.
- 25:02SPEAKER_00: That is probably the wrong take in this moment, but not buying them at all.
- 25:06SPEAKER_00: Michael Penix has been good.
- 25:08SPEAKER_00: He's you know made Drake London relevant.
- 25:10SPEAKER_00: Uh, some Kyle Pitts sightings here and there.
- 25:13SPEAKER_00: Uh Bijan has just been incredible.
- 25:16SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 25:16SPEAKER_00: But not buying them.
- 25:17SPEAKER_00: Um and then the Bucs as well, they're really banged up.
- 25:20SPEAKER_00: Don't know when Bike Baker will be back.
- 25:22SPEAKER_00: They're I think one and four right now.
- 25:24SPEAKER_00: So, you know, as a team that going into the year, I think was you know one of the favorites to win that division.
- 25:29SPEAKER_00: Through five weeks, I would you know confidently write them off in terms of um you know competing for that division crown.
- 25:37SPEAKER_01: I've got to say, I think you smashed it out of the park with how you've labeled each of these teams.
- 25:41SPEAKER_01: I haven't found anything really to disagree with yet.
- 25:44SPEAKER_01: I think out of this bunch of five that I do, I don't think any of these teams are playoff teams.
- 25:48SPEAKER_01: If I had to pick one or two that could prove to be a playoff team, I think the Falcons could just because that division, but I don't think they're the best team.
- 25:57SPEAKER_01: I think I would go with the Panthers.
- 25:58SPEAKER_01: And then the Raiders, they're definitely not in the top two in the AFC West, but that is a good division.
- 26:03SPEAKER_01: I could see them hanging around and being a little bit frisky, but I'm with you on the Jets and the Browns.
- 26:08SPEAKER_01: They're just not going to win more than six games.
- 26:10SPEAKER_01: If they do, it'll be barely six, which uh as a Browns fan, it's kind of funny that you're Super Bowl, you're three and one, and now we're saying you'd be lucky to get to six wins.
- 26:18SPEAKER_01: That's it's just they the the Torture fans of the week award should be just named after the Cleveland Browns because nobody has it worse than them.
- 26:24SPEAKER_01: And the Jets are a close runner-up.
- 26:26SPEAKER_01: Now, we went through all these teams, Blum, but we didn't have one team from the NFC East in any of these categories.
- 26:34SPEAKER_01: What on earth do you make of this division and who are you picking to win it?
- 26:40SPEAKER_00: Yeah, this is just the messiest division, I would say.
- 26:44SPEAKER_00: The team that leads it, they're three, one-on-one with I mean, Jameis Winston, he's very fun, but they don't have a quarterback.
- 26:51SPEAKER_00: They don't really have a running game.
- 26:52SPEAKER_00: Um Malik Neighbors is fun, but like I'm not buying this team at all to win the division.
- 26:58SPEAKER_00: You have the Cowboys who probably have the most talent.
- 27:02SPEAKER_00: I would maybe even argue by far out of any of these teams, but I'm just not trusting them when the calendar turns into December and they need to win games.
- 27:12SPEAKER_00: They lost just in embarrassing fashion at home to at the time the winless Buccaneers on Thursday night football.
- 27:18SPEAKER_00: You have the Washington Commanders who don't know you know either how much time's left in the game or how many timeouts they have or how to spike the ball, which we can maybe get into a little bit later.
- 27:28SPEAKER_00: So, Sean, for that reason, I think you have to pick the Eagles as the favorites right now to win that division.
- 27:33SPEAKER_00: I don't care how banged up they are, how low the vibes are around Siriani and Hertz, but I would buy all my Eagles stock right now to win that division if I was a betting man.
- 27:44SPEAKER_01: Well, that's perfect.
- 27:45SPEAKER_01: We're gonna do a little stock exchange segment in just a minute.
- 27:48SPEAKER_01: And I'm still holding a ton of Eagles stock, so I don't know that I'm gonna buy more pre-preseason.
- 27:54SPEAKER_01: The two teams I took first and second round in our wins pool were the Texans and Eagles.
- 27:58SPEAKER_01: And boy, I wish I didn't have as much stock in those two, but I'm with you in terms of who I think will win this division.
- 28:04SPEAKER_01: I'm still taking the Eagles.
- 28:06SPEAKER_01: I don't trust the Cowboys as far as I could throw them.
- 28:08SPEAKER_01: I think we probably could have lumped the Giants in to the teams we know are bad, but we don't have faith in, but they have a good record.
- 28:14SPEAKER_01: You know what I mean?
- 28:15SPEAKER_01: They're they're kind of like the Falcons.
- 28:17SPEAKER_01: You don't trust them at all, and I think they're gonna end up being bad, but they're 3-1-1.
- 28:22SPEAKER_01: The commanders, their record reflects kind of who they are.
- 28:24SPEAKER_01: Dan Quinn.
- 28:25SPEAKER_01: Oh, I know it wasn't necessarily his fault, but it does lie on his shoulders.
- 28:30SPEAKER_01: He didn't call that play, and he wasn't the one who executed it, but boy oh boy, does he seem to be on the wrong side of some clock management bullshit, time and time again, this guy.
- 28:40SPEAKER_01: And that's part of being a head coach, Dan.
- 28:41SPEAKER_01: You know, at some point you gotta figure that out.
- 28:43SPEAKER_01: You're a veteran head coach, you've been around the league a long time.
- 28:45SPEAKER_01: I I'm sick of seeing you throw your headset.
- 28:47SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I don't know whose fault that should be, but or whose fault it was, but it should be just everyone that's associated with that organization, from Jaden to Dan to the, you know, who selling popcorn to the ticket scanners, like it's everyone's fault because that was as embarrassing as it gets.
- 29:07SPEAKER_01: We might need to do a segment, like, oh, he's still coaching, and Dan Quinn is right up there for that award because how is he still in a job?
- 29:15SPEAKER_01: I I don't I don't get it.
- 29:16SPEAKER_01: I don't obviously buy any commander stock.
- 29:20SPEAKER_01: The Cowboys and Eagles, it's gonna come down to them, and it's fascinating.
- 29:23SPEAKER_01: I think the Eagles are also very talented, especially defensively.
- 29:27SPEAKER_01: They've battled a lot of injuries, at least on the offensive end.
- 29:30SPEAKER_01: Wayne Johnson retires.
- 29:33SPEAKER_01: They're being ravaged in the offensive department, but their defense is young.
- 29:36SPEAKER_01: It's it's guys on team-friendly contracts for the most part.
- 29:40SPEAKER_01: They've got Bond who flies around and makes plays.
- 29:42SPEAKER_01: Jalen Carter is an absolute game wrecker, Quinyon Mitchell's elite, Reed, or not Reed, the other white, uh, Cooper DeGene, good player.
- 29:51SPEAKER_01: So you look at them defensively and you're like, oh, they're pretty good, but then they just don't do anything offensively.
- 29:55SPEAKER_01: They're they're horrible to watch offensively.
- 29:57SPEAKER_01: And that's gonna lead to some questions about Jalen Hurts.
- 30:00SPEAKER_01: I actually want to, this is on the spot here.
- 30:02SPEAKER_01: I like Jalen Hurts, but at what point does Jalen Hurts need to step up and elevate a team that isn't as good to being good?
- 30:09SPEAKER_01: Because Jalen Hurts can play the role in a winning team of being a winner.
- 30:13SPEAKER_01: But the best quarterbacks in the league are able to elevate those around them, and Jalen Hurts, they don't score in the second half.
- 30:19SPEAKER_01: So once a team figures out what they're doing, they don't score points.
- 30:22SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I feel like the term system quarterback is thrown around a lot.
- 30:27SPEAKER_00: And with Jalen as well, I don't think he's a system quarterback by any means because I am a Jalen Hurts guy.
- 30:33SPEAKER_00: He is a winner, he knows how to win.
- 30:36SPEAKER_00: He I feel like he knows his limitations very well in terms of he doesn't throw the ball downfield that much.
- 30:43SPEAKER_00: You know, he's very much like he knows who he is as a quarterback and his skills, and he sometimes can limit him, or appears like he's limiting himself because of it.
- 30:53SPEAKER_00: I think that he's fine.
- 30:55SPEAKER_00: Like Eagles fans should not be calling for Jalen Hurts, they should not be thinking, you know, rookie quarterbacks, like he is the guy like we see with quarterbacks all the time, like Justin Herbert, like the downfall of Tua.
- 31:07SPEAKER_00: Like these guys, it's just roller coasters, just depending on who's calling plays, the scheme, who's healthy.
- 31:13SPEAKER_00: So, Eagles fans, if you're listening, do not lose faith in Jalen Hurts because he is fine, he is your franchise quarterback.
- 31:20SPEAKER_01: I'm with you.
- 31:21SPEAKER_01: I've always been a Jalen guy just because I honestly, from the moment at Alabama when he got benched and gave the speech after the game, I thought that was the coolest thing ever, and I've never seen a young kid handle it like that.
- 31:29SPEAKER_01: So I've been in on Jalen.
- 31:31SPEAKER_01: I'll continue to be in on Jalen, but at a certain point, I think it falls on Sirianni's shoulders.
- 31:37SPEAKER_01: Somebody needs to be the adult in the room and elevate this team because they are too good to be losing games in the manner in which they just lost the London game.
- 31:43SPEAKER_01: How they lost to the Rams is unacceptable.
- 31:46SPEAKER_01: They should be a team that's competing for Super Bowls.
- 31:48SPEAKER_01: I know maybe not this year, but if you look around the NFC, who is this world-beating team outside of the NFC West that you should be scared of?
- 31:55SPEAKER_01: That division's really good.
- 31:57SPEAKER_01: The rest of the conference is kind of up for grabs.
- 31:59SPEAKER_01: So the Eagles need to get it right.
- 32:01SPEAKER_01: I think it falls on that Bozo Siriani's shoulders.
- 32:03SPEAKER_01: And as long as he wears that visor with the Italian flag on it, I will continue to just detest him.
- 32:08SPEAKER_01: But we'll move on, Bum, to some of the biggest surprises so far in a positive manner.
- 32:14SPEAKER_01: So give me it could be a team, a coach, a player.
- 32:16SPEAKER_01: Who has surprised you positively so far?
- 32:18SPEAKER_00: Yeah, so I have three for you all offensive related on the offensive side of the ball.
- 32:23SPEAKER_00: The Panthers, they're just five power offense.
- 32:26SPEAKER_00: Dave Canales, Bryce Young.
- 32:29SPEAKER_00: They're putting up points.
- 32:30SPEAKER_00: Uh, I mean, Jalen Coker, Tet McMillan, Chuba Hubbard has been great.
- 32:35SPEAKER_00: Did not see this coming at all.
- 32:37SPEAKER_00: I think a lot of us wrote off Bryce Young early on in his career.
- 32:41SPEAKER_00: And uh he found something here.
- 32:42SPEAKER_00: He's playing confidently.
- 32:44SPEAKER_00: He is using his legs, good pocket awareness, getting the ball downfield.
- 32:48SPEAKER_00: Parker Washington, I'll call that as well.
- 32:51SPEAKER_00: If he wasn't 5'10, I think he would be considered one of the best receivers in the NFL.
- 32:58SPEAKER_00: He gets open with ease, he has great hands, he catches everything.
- 33:03SPEAKER_00: I would call him even, you know, he's what, 5'10?
- 33:06SPEAKER_00: He's a top 15 receivers in the NFL today.
- 33:09SPEAKER_00: I think he's that good.
- 33:10SPEAKER_00: And a late bloomer, he was, I think, a fifth-round pick out of Penn State, is in his fourth year.
- 33:15SPEAKER_00: And I just I can't say enough good things about him.
- 33:19SPEAKER_00: And then the Packers as well.
- 33:20SPEAKER_00: They have absolutely zero run game, which has allowed Jordan Love to just air the ball out.
- 33:28SPEAKER_00: Uh Christian Watson, huge fan of him coming into the year.
- 33:31SPEAKER_00: Matthew Golden looked like a bust his rookie year.
- 33:34SPEAKER_00: He's had been great as well.
- 33:36SPEAKER_00: So you know, those three, I think, from an offensive perspective, big surprises as well.
- 33:42SPEAKER_00: And I think all of those points will be you know carried on throughout the year.
- 33:47SPEAKER_00: I don't see any of those Panthers, Packers, or Parker Washington, you know, falling off at all.
- 33:51SPEAKER_01: Three P's.
- 33:52SPEAKER_01: I like the East State on FIBA.
- 33:54SPEAKER_01: The I would the first of all, I'll start on the Bryce Young point.
- 33:57SPEAKER_01: I'm I've I will say I'm not right on a lot of stocks.
- 34:01SPEAKER_01: I have never sold my Bryce Young's shares.
- 34:03SPEAKER_01: I love Bryce Young.
- 34:04SPEAKER_01: He's another one.
- 34:05SPEAKER_01: I just really liked how he spoke when he was in the Heisman race and being the quarterback at Alabama, and he's undersized.
- 34:12SPEAKER_01: And it was it was certainly bumpy his first few NFL seasons, but he finally has a good offensive-minded head coach, and he they look great, especially on that side of the ball.
- 34:22SPEAKER_01: Tet McMillan, he absolutely ravaged me in a fantasy matchup.
- 34:26SPEAKER_01: I just need him to score like under 27.
- 34:28SPEAKER_01: He scored 47.
- 34:30SPEAKER_01: And they they're just they're they're a fun team to root for, the Panthers, because of those guys.
- 34:35SPEAKER_01: So I'm with you there.
- 34:36SPEAKER_01: Parker Washington, I had all these Penn State fans tell me they haven't had a receiver in like eight years, and that's why the quarterbacks are bad.
- 34:41SPEAKER_01: This guy's a stud.
- 34:42SPEAKER_01: He's unbelievable.
- 34:43SPEAKER_01: You would never know based on his college performance, but he is great in the NFL.
- 34:47SPEAKER_01: The catch he made in the London game was spectacular, basically won them the game.
- 34:51SPEAKER_01: I'm with you there.
- 34:52SPEAKER_01: The Packers offense, I need to watch a little bit more of the Packers.
- 34:54SPEAKER_01: I haven't seen too much of them this year, but every time you pick your head up, it's a deep bomb to one of those receivers you talked about.
- 34:59SPEAKER_01: Mostly Christian Watson, but Golden's been good this year too.
- 35:02SPEAKER_01: And they've been doing it without really getting Tucker Kraft too involved.
- 35:05SPEAKER_01: So the Packers are certainly a dynamic offense if they could figure out that run game, which you would think has to get a little bit better.
- 35:12SPEAKER_01: I know they just reshuffled their offensive line.
- 35:14SPEAKER_01: I don't have too many positive surprises.
- 35:17SPEAKER_01: We already talked about the Vikings.
- 35:18SPEAKER_01: That was my big one, especially them on the defensive side of the ball.
- 35:21SPEAKER_01: The other one I will bring up, and it's where Parker Washington plays, it's the Jaguars and Liam Cohen.
- 35:26SPEAKER_01: I have been a skeptic.
- 35:28SPEAKER_01: I was out on them last year, I was out on them again this year.
- 35:31SPEAKER_01: He continues to prove me wrong.
- 35:33SPEAKER_01: He seems to be a pretty good coach.
- 35:37SPEAKER_01: That was part of the reason I was out on him.
- 35:39SPEAKER_01: Honestly, yeah, he was too corny to succeed, but he keeps finding a way.
- 35:43SPEAKER_01: And I don't even want to give him credit for that win in London against the Eagles because it was truly just incompetence from Siriani, how they won that game, but he his record speaks for itself.
- 35:53SPEAKER_01: In a place where they're not used to winning, he has won a lot in two seasons.
- 35:56SPEAKER_01: So credit to Liam Cohen and the Jaguars.
- 35:59SPEAKER_01: Let's flip it once again.
- 36:01SPEAKER_01: Who are some of the most disappointing surprises?
- 36:04SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I think there's I'll give you three answers, but I think the the main headliner is the Chargers.
- 36:10SPEAKER_00: I get the injuries, which I feel like Justin Herbert has never had a fully healthy offensive line in his career.
- 36:18SPEAKER_00: But man, like he just looks terrible.
- 36:21SPEAKER_00: He's making awful decisions.
- 36:23SPEAKER_00: I know you brought up Harbaugh earlier, Sean.
- 36:26SPEAKER_00: Just the game has passed him by.
- 36:28SPEAKER_00: I think we can confidently say that.
- 36:30SPEAKER_00: He is by no means any sort of offensive mind.
- 36:34SPEAKER_00: I know they brought in McDaniel for that.
- 36:36SPEAKER_00: Uh clearly that's not working at all.
- 36:38SPEAKER_00: They haven't been able to figure out on Marion Hampton.
- 36:41SPEAKER_00: He's been a disappointment as well.
- 36:43SPEAKER_00: Lad's been in and out of the lineup.
- 36:45SPEAKER_00: They don't have much next to him outside of weapons.
- 36:49SPEAKER_00: So I mean, listen, Sean, I'll come on here and be hand up.
- 36:52SPEAKER_00: I don't know if you remember this, but the last time I was on this program in my bold prediction segment, I said that Justin Herbert would be a dark horse MVP candidate.
- 37:02SPEAKER_00: So I would just like to, you know, be the bigger man here and say, I own that take, and I could not have been more bum, that's all we ask.
- 37:12SPEAKER_01: Just toss your hand up when you're wrong.
- 37:14SPEAKER_01: I do it every week, basically.
- 37:16SPEAKER_01: That's very accountable of you.
- 37:17SPEAKER_01: I didn't even remember you said that.
- 37:19SPEAKER_01: I knew we were all pretty bullish on the chargers and have some apologies to issue.
- 37:23SPEAKER_01: But the MVP, that one's not aging well.
- 37:26SPEAKER_01: It's not aging well.
- 37:27SPEAKER_01: He truly does look like a robot whose coating is off and wrong.
- 37:31SPEAKER_01: He looks broken.
- 37:32SPEAKER_01: He he is he looks possessed, broken.
- 37:35SPEAKER_01: It's bad.
- 37:36SPEAKER_01: I compared last week to him in Shudder Island.
- 37:38SPEAKER_01: I said he looked like Leo in Shudder Island, just like a true crazy person on the sidelines.
- 37:42SPEAKER_01: I've never seen anything quite like it because he has everything.
- 37:45SPEAKER_01: When you just look at him, the 6'6 flowing hair, the chargers uniform, how he throws a ball, he has to be good, right?
- 37:53SPEAKER_01: And he's just not, and they're not.
- 37:54SPEAKER_01: And the Harbaugh experiment needs to end ASAP.
- 37:58SPEAKER_01: You're right, the game's passed him by.
- 37:59SPEAKER_01: I have a couple of big disappointments.
- 38:02SPEAKER_01: My biggest disappointment so far is the Texans' defense.
- 38:06SPEAKER_01: I actually think CJ Stroud's been pretty good.
- 38:08SPEAKER_01: And it's been about once again a bad offensive line.
- 38:11SPEAKER_01: So he does still make some mistakes that bother you.
- 38:15SPEAKER_01: But overall, the defense has been the problem for the Texans.
- 38:17SPEAKER_01: In two of their losses, they scored 30 points and lost.
- 38:21SPEAKER_01: And that's not something you would predict for a D'Amico Ryan's coach team.
- 38:25SPEAKER_01: They make a trade to improve the offense with Marvin Harrison, but I think the big takeaway for me was the defense actually stinks.
- 38:31SPEAKER_01: And then the other one is the Rams just being two and three.
- 38:33SPEAKER_01: I know we didn't see the Miles Garrett injury coming, and I think we're still bullish on them the rest of the season, but that record's pretty shocking for a team that was dubbed the Super Team and the Super Bowl favorites to start the year.
- 38:43SPEAKER_00: Yeah, the Texans, too, I think they basically just ran like they have the same defense as last year, so things are just aren't clicking for them for whatever reason.
- 38:50SPEAKER_00: Still a lot of season left.
- 38:52SPEAKER_00: And then the Rams, we mentioned as well.
- 38:54SPEAKER_00: You know, I think they'll be fine, but again, two and three start is surprising.
- 38:57SPEAKER_00: Two more, I know I mentioned the Broncos offense as well, was one of the best last year.
- 39:01SPEAKER_00: Bo Nicks has just, you know, I wouldn't group him in the Justin Herbert category, but he's been awful as well.
- 39:08SPEAKER_00: And then um a fantasy football note if you drafted any rookies this year, I apologize.
- 39:14SPEAKER_00: It has not been pretty.
- 39:15SPEAKER_00: Running backs, Jeremiah Legendarian Price, nothing for you.
- 39:19SPEAKER_00: Uh Makai Lemon, uh Carnell Tate, uh Jordan Tyson hasn't played yet.
- 39:24SPEAKER_00: Some flashes from Denzel Boston, but overall just a disaster for rookies so far.
- 39:29SPEAKER_01: Yeah, Carnell Lemon is what I'm gonna call him because he's a Lemon.
- 39:32SPEAKER_01: And I don't think it's his fault.
- 39:34SPEAKER_01: I think it's back to Cam Ward and Bobby Solomon.
- 39:36SPEAKER_01: But you're right, the rookies have stunk, and I'm very surprised at how bad the Notre Dame running backs have been.
- 39:43SPEAKER_01: I I know the Cardinals' offense, at least running the football and protecting, is not their strong suit.
- 39:48SPEAKER_01: So I could have expected some growing pains there, but I thought he'd be more involved in the pass game.
- 39:52SPEAKER_01: He's not at all, he doesn't catch any balls out of the backfield.
- 39:54SPEAKER_01: And then Price in Seattle, he had a couple of fumbles, he got benched, and now he's on IR, and it looks like he he has a hard route back to just getting carries this season.
- 40:04SPEAKER_01: So that's not encouraging at all.
- 40:06SPEAKER_01: There's not many rookies doing much of anything that would inspire you.
- 40:09SPEAKER_01: So I think that's a good point as well.
- 40:12SPEAKER_01: The only thing we have left to do in the NFL bomb is a little bit of a stock exchange.
- 40:18SPEAKER_01: Give me some stocks you're buying or selling for the rest of the season here.
- 40:22SPEAKER_00: Yeah, so the two obvious buys for me, again, two teams we mentioned are the Texans and the Rams.
- 40:28SPEAKER_00: I am still not rolling out the Texans winning the South.
- 40:31SPEAKER_00: I think that, you know, rough start going forward, they smacking the Titans.
- 40:36SPEAKER_00: I think the defense will come into form.
- 40:38SPEAKER_00: I think the biggest you know positive sign is just like you said, how good CJ Stroud has been compared to what we saw you know the last four or five games of last year.
- 40:46SPEAKER_00: And then I think I mean the Rams are the obvious buy.
- 40:49SPEAKER_00: They were the Super Bowl favorites coming into the year.
- 40:51SPEAKER_00: A couple tough losses, but um, you know, I have no doubt that they'll be a 12-win team, 12 or 13-win team still.
- 40:59SPEAKER_00: Eagles, I know we mentioned them as well.
- 41:01SPEAKER_00: I think they're still my pick to win the NFC East.
- 41:04SPEAKER_00: And then we'll get into selling in a bit, but I mean, yeah, Vikings, Rams, and Eagles, I think are my my two buys or three buys.
- 41:12SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I I don't think you're wrong at all.
- 41:14SPEAKER_01: I think this is a perfect time to buy in on the Rams after that performance against the Bills because you saw what you needed to see, and it came down to special teams, and if they could just get that cleaned up, you trust they're going to be one of the best teams in the league.
- 41:25SPEAKER_01: I'm with you on the Texans.
- 41:26SPEAKER_01: Listen, I have I am chalk full of Texans and Eagles stock shares, and I'm in at a bad price on both of them.
- 41:33SPEAKER_01: So I don't think I'm gonna be buying any more, but I haven't sold yet.
- 41:36SPEAKER_01: And it's because of when we look at the Texans schedule, it lightened up quite a bit, starting with that Titans game last week.
- 41:42SPEAKER_01: You could see a world where they get back to 500 and a little bit above before they start really getting challenged again.
- 41:48SPEAKER_01: They do have to start winning some in-division games.
- 41:51SPEAKER_01: They lost, of course, to the Colts, which was a backbreaker, but if they could take care of business against the Jaguars and Colts a couple times, that division starts to look a lot different.
- 42:00SPEAKER_01: And I do agree, I I would still, if gun to my head, I would still probably pick them to win the South.
- 42:05SPEAKER_01: Just because I think I trust them the most over the course of the season.
- 42:09SPEAKER_01: They just need to put it all together on both sides of the ball.
- 42:11SPEAKER_01: I bought some Drake May shares a couple weeks back.
- 42:14SPEAKER_01: I thought his game against the Steelers, which was kind of sandwiched in between the roller coaster, I didn't think he looked too bad.
- 42:19SPEAKER_01: He had a couple mistakes, but then you could see the old Drake May back in there a little bit.
- 42:23SPEAKER_01: And he's been really good since.
- 42:26SPEAKER_01: So I'm glad I bought some there.
- 42:28SPEAKER_01: I do think we have to.
- 42:30SPEAKER_01: I hate doing it because I've been harping on him, but I just I just gave a compliment to Liam Cohen and the Jaguars.
- 42:36SPEAKER_01: I'm gonna go ahead and sell.
- 42:38SPEAKER_01: I think it's a good time to sell.
- 42:39SPEAKER_01: They didn't deserve to win that London game, but it goes hand in hand with my Texans prediction.
- 42:43SPEAKER_01: I'm staying steadfast with the Texans, and I'm gonna sell some Jaguar stock.
- 42:48SPEAKER_01: I'm just not super convinced that they're going to be able to do it in big games and big moments.
- 42:53SPEAKER_01: I don't know that Trevor's ever shown me.
- 42:55SPEAKER_01: And I thought the Eagles did a really good job of making them look very average for much of that football game.
- 43:01SPEAKER_01: And then the only other team I would like to buy in on, I think I'm gonna do it.
- 43:06SPEAKER_01: And it's it's a probably dumb decision because I talk about these guys a lot and they just got walloped.
- 43:14SPEAKER_01: But I'm gonna go back in on the Bears.
- 43:16SPEAKER_01: Caleb's back this week.
- 43:18SPEAKER_01: I'm already I'm already a huge owner in in Bears and Caleb's stock specifically.
- 43:23SPEAKER_01: But I think Ben Johnson's stocks at a little bit of a dip.
- 43:26SPEAKER_01: I think it's a great time to buy.
- 43:28SPEAKER_01: I think they'll win that division.
- 43:29SPEAKER_01: I don't trust the Vikings like we talked about.
- 43:31SPEAKER_01: I don't trust the Packers defense in particular, with a competent quarterback going against them.
- 43:36SPEAKER_01: I think they could be, they could, you could get at them a little bit.
- 43:39SPEAKER_01: It can't be Tyson Bajant, and I never want to see him play again.
- 43:44SPEAKER_01: But I think the Bears are going to start to figure some things out, and they're not too far in the hole.
- 43:48SPEAKER_01: Their their record's not too bad.
- 43:50SPEAKER_01: It's at a it's a manageable place.
- 43:52SPEAKER_00: Yeah, the Case Keenum win against the Eagles Monday night would might be a big one for them down the road in terms of, you know, winning that division.
- 44:00SPEAKER_00: But um I agree.
- 44:01SPEAKER_00: Bears, I think you can write off the last two weeks.
- 44:04SPEAKER_00: Um, you know, what Caleb does in that offense is something that maybe what one or two quarterbacks in the league could do.
- 44:11SPEAKER_00: I would put him in that elite category in terms of just creating on his own off of broken plays.
- 44:16SPEAKER_00: Uh so I agree, Sean.
- 44:17SPEAKER_00: I'm a Caleb guy as well, proud owner of some shares in Dynasty.
- 44:20SPEAKER_00: So high, high hopes for Caleb.
- 44:23SPEAKER_01: I was I was hoodwinked in that dynasty draft.
- 44:25SPEAKER_01: Blum set up an auction, and then Caleb was like the first or second name off the board, and I froze in the moment, and I didn't spend anywhere near enough money on my guy, and I'm stuck with that bozo Justin Herbert leading the line.
- 44:36SPEAKER_01: And it's one of the bigger regrets I have ever in fantasy sports.
- 44:40SPEAKER_01: So that's a conversation for a different day, Blum.
- 44:42SPEAKER_01: Let's move on to the NBA season, which is fastly approaching.
- 44:46SPEAKER_01: When is the first game?
- 44:47SPEAKER_01: When is when does the season actually start?
- 44:50SPEAKER_00: So the first game is October 20th.
- 44:54SPEAKER_00: So if depending on when you're listening, it's uh the third Tuesday in October.
- 44:57SPEAKER_00: We have a three-game slate that day.
- 44:59SPEAKER_01: Okay, so it's coming up.
- 45:01SPEAKER_01: It's less than five days away.
- 45:04SPEAKER_01: We haven't talked NBA at all since the last season ended with the Nova Knicks winning a title.
- 45:09SPEAKER_01: So Blum, he did this at the NFL and it was a fun segment.
- 45:13SPEAKER_01: He's bringing it back for the NBA.
- 45:16SPEAKER_01: Blum is much more of an NBA guy than me.
- 45:18SPEAKER_01: He he watches most, I would say, almost all Sixers games.
- 45:21SPEAKER_01: He he has a pulse on what's going on around the league.
- 45:24SPEAKER_01: I watch some Sixers games, is the extent of my NBA fandom.
- 45:27SPEAKER_01: I tune in around the playoffs.
- 45:29SPEAKER_01: I think a good way to get me and some listeners that are just trying to get their feet wet in the association back engaged is to play who do they play for.
- 45:38SPEAKER_01: So, Blum, you have five players that switch teams this year?
- 45:41SPEAKER_01: Five.
- 45:42SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 45:42SPEAKER_01: And you are going to ask me where that player plays now.
- 45:46SPEAKER_01: I'm hoping I do better than I did in the NFL.
- 45:50SPEAKER_01: I am not expecting much.
- 45:51SPEAKER_00: Yeah, so we'll shout out inside the NBA Charles Barkley, who is the main uh character I think is associated with this game.
- 45:58SPEAKER_00: So uh thank you boys for the the idea here.
- 46:02SPEAKER_00: Uh so the first one, Sean, this won't count towards the five.
- 46:04SPEAKER_00: This is a warm-up to get the vibes, right?
- 46:06SPEAKER_00: Thank you.
- 46:06SPEAKER_00: Thank you.
- 46:07SPEAKER_00: So what team does LeBron James play for?
- 46:09SPEAKER_01: Yeah, it's a great start.
- 46:10SPEAKER_01: Philadelphia 76ers long.
- 46:12SPEAKER_01: That's I love that.
- 46:13SPEAKER_01: I love that.
- 46:14SPEAKER_01: Get me in the mood.
- 46:15SPEAKER_00: One for one.
- 46:16SPEAKER_00: All right.
- 46:17SPEAKER_00: Number two, what team does LaMelle Ball play for?
- 46:21SPEAKER_01: I know this one because it was a big trade.
- 46:23SPEAKER_01: I do know this one.
- 46:25SPEAKER_01: He is with Anthony Edwards and the Minnesota Timberwolves.
- 46:28SPEAKER_00: He is a big trade indeed.
- 46:31SPEAKER_00: Um, Charlotte got, I think it was two first-round picks and Nas Reed, among other things.
- 46:37SPEAKER_00: So big deal in the offseason, and yeah, those two will be fun to watch, I think, in Minnesota.
- 46:43SPEAKER_01: And I I like Nas Reed, which I I know Lamella's probably a better player, that's what people tell me.
- 46:48SPEAKER_01: But I like Nas Reed.
- 46:49SPEAKER_01: When I was living in Minnesota, the fans of Minneapolis loved Nas Reed.
- 46:53SPEAKER_01: He was just kind of one of those energy guys, came off the bench, did a lot of good things.
- 46:57SPEAKER_01: So if I were the GM, I'm not so sure I'd be shipping him out of town for a ball brother, but I guess they tell me his upside's higher.
- 47:05SPEAKER_01: That's what they say.
- 47:05SPEAKER_01: I don't know if I if I'm into the I don't know if he's a winner.
- 47:08SPEAKER_00: I'm an anti-Lamello ball guy, and Nasreed is just seems like a championship type of player that you need on your team.
- 47:15SPEAKER_00: So I'm with you there.
- 47:16SPEAKER_01: Yeah, good, good, good, good.
- 47:18SPEAKER_01: I'm glad I wasn't alone in that.
- 47:19SPEAKER_00: All right, uh, number three.
- 47:21SPEAKER_00: What team does Kawhi Leonard play for?
- 47:24SPEAKER_01: He he's back in Toronto.
- 47:26SPEAKER_01: He's a Raptor, and it's official now after a long, a long uh saga, I guess, around his Clippers eligibility.
- 47:35SPEAKER_00: Yeah, Pablo Torre tried his best uh to kind of ruin that career in that trade, but it is back on.
- 47:42SPEAKER_00: He was traded for Brandon Ingram, uh Grady Dick, and a handful of picks.
- 47:47SPEAKER_00: So Qui is back in Toronto where he signed an extension, so he will most likely finish his career in Canada.
- 47:55SPEAKER_01: This is you could have got me with this one.
- 47:57SPEAKER_01: I didn't know Brandon Ingram was ever in Toronto, so that would have been one.
- 48:02SPEAKER_01: And I will say so far, it's a little bit insulting.
- 48:04SPEAKER_01: Some of these are a little bit insulting.
- 48:06SPEAKER_01: This is pretty remedial level so far.
- 48:08SPEAKER_00: Listen, I'm getting the vibes right, Sean.
- 48:10SPEAKER_00: We got we got two more that I think will, you know, okay, get you thinking.
- 48:14SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 48:15SPEAKER_00: All right.
- 48:16SPEAKER_00: Uh next one.
- 48:17SPEAKER_00: What team does John Morant play for?
- 48:20SPEAKER_00: Oh god.
- 48:21SPEAKER_01: I don't know.
- 48:22SPEAKER_01: Your guy.
- 48:23SPEAKER_01: Was my guy.
- 48:24SPEAKER_01: Was my guy.
- 48:26SPEAKER_01: Important to know.
- 48:26SPEAKER_01: It was.
- 48:27SPEAKER_01: We say no to gun violence, and that's when I lost him.
- 48:30SPEAKER_01: Boy, bomb.
- 48:31SPEAKER_01: God dang it.
- 48:32SPEAKER_01: I didn't know he wasn't a grizzly.
- 48:34SPEAKER_01: So, based on you asking this question in the framing of these guys switch teams this offseason, he's not a grizzly.
- 48:41SPEAKER_01: God, it can't be a it can't be a contending team.
- 48:44SPEAKER_01: Um, I'm gonna go with Utah Jazz.
- 48:48SPEAKER_01: Ship him to Utah.
- 48:50SPEAKER_01: No?
- 48:50SPEAKER_01: Portland.
- 48:51SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 48:52SPEAKER_01: Portland Trailblazers.
- 48:55SPEAKER_01: I might as well have just given that to you.
- 48:56SPEAKER_01: That was the kind of franchise I was thinking.
- 48:58SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 48:59SPEAKER_01: Yeah, god dang it.
- 49:00SPEAKER_01: No, I didn't know that.
- 49:01SPEAKER_01: I did not know that.
- 49:02SPEAKER_00: Yeah, the Grizzlies were shopping him for the longest time because of his contract.
- 49:06SPEAKER_00: He had absolutely zero trademark, and then they finally found a suitor in the Portland Trailblazers.
- 49:12SPEAKER_01: What is why who, yeah, who's acquiring John Moran at this stage?
- 49:16SPEAKER_01: That it seems like a wild choice for the Blazers, but they're kind of a wild franchise, so that makes sense.
- 49:22SPEAKER_00: They are.
- 49:22SPEAKER_00: And uh he shares a backcourt with Dame Lillard now, so another fun backcourt to watch.
- 49:28SPEAKER_01: I I do regret saying that these were remedial too, because I instantly got that shoved in my face.
- 49:33SPEAKER_01: So okay.
- 49:34SPEAKER_01: It was a good idea to go with Superstars Bloom because I'm not even 100% on those.
- 49:38SPEAKER_00: Alright, so we got I got two more for you, Sean.
- 49:40SPEAKER_00: Next one is what team does your Kentucky Wildcat Tyler Hero play for now?
- 49:46SPEAKER_00: This is a Kentucky team.
- 49:47SPEAKER_00: If you connect some dots, if you connect some dots here, yeah.
- 49:50SPEAKER_00: There's some tea, read the tea leaves.
- 49:52SPEAKER_01: I think I know it.
- 49:53SPEAKER_01: I think he's a buck, right?
- 49:55SPEAKER_00: He was in the honest trade.
- 49:57SPEAKER_01: Yes.
- 49:57SPEAKER_01: And I didn't once you said the connect the dots, I knew I was right because that's the only thing I could think of.
- 50:04SPEAKER_01: But I remember he's from Wisconsin.
- 50:06SPEAKER_01: And I remember seeing something on social media that he was coming home, and that there was like it was like a spoof parody of his highlights, but he was the prodigal son returning home to wherever he's from in Wisconsin.
- 50:17SPEAKER_00: Yeah, he is now the best player on the Bucks.
- 50:20SPEAKER_00: So we'll say some prayers for that fan base this season.
- 50:24SPEAKER_01: Yeah, that's tough.
- 50:25SPEAKER_01: Jesus.
- 50:26SPEAKER_00: Alright, the last one, Sean.
- 50:28SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 50:29SPEAKER_00: What team does D'Angelo Russell play for now?
- 50:33SPEAKER_01: Not a fucking clue on this one.
- 50:35SPEAKER_01: My God.
- 50:36SPEAKER_01: D'Angelo Russell?
- 50:38SPEAKER_01: He was why are we doing?
- 50:40SPEAKER_01: Oh my god.
- 50:41SPEAKER_01: I don't know where he's played the last five years, if we're being honest.
- 50:44SPEAKER_01: I last remember him as a Laker.
- 50:47SPEAKER_01: I don't know where he's been or what he's up to.
- 50:50SPEAKER_01: I'm gonna I'm gonna go with the Pelicans.
- 50:52SPEAKER_01: New Orleans Pelicans.
- 50:54SPEAKER_00: That's a good guess, Sean.
- 50:55SPEAKER_00: Uh, but he is actually a Shanghai shark.
- 50:58SPEAKER_00: He is taking his talents to the CBA in the Chinese Basketball Association.
- 51:03SPEAKER_01: That's sick.
- 51:04SPEAKER_01: That is so sick.
- 51:05SPEAKER_01: And also, that was mean-spirited by you to put that in there.
- 51:08SPEAKER_01: I didn't stand a chance at knowing he was a Shanghai shark.
- 51:11SPEAKER_01: But I love that he just said, I'm just gonna go hoop in China.
- 51:14SPEAKER_01: Good for me, D'Angelo.
- 51:16SPEAKER_01: That is electric Shanghai Sharks.
- 51:18SPEAKER_01: You could have given me 50 guesses, I wouldn't have guessed the Shanghai sharks.
- 51:21SPEAKER_00: I think he's teammates with uh Javel McGee.
- 51:23SPEAKER_00: I think he's over there too.
- 51:24SPEAKER_00: So those two are um you know dominating the pick and roll over in Shanghai.
- 51:28SPEAKER_01: That's perfect, and it's probably hard to stop in that league.
- 51:31SPEAKER_01: I'll tell you that.
- 51:32SPEAKER_01: Those are two, those are two pretty skilled players to be playing in Shanghai.
- 51:36SPEAKER_01: Well, Blum, thank you for hosting that.
- 51:37SPEAKER_01: That was that's always good fun.
- 51:39SPEAKER_01: We might you might be able to do that mid season too, and unless the Sixers played that team, I I still wouldn't know.
- 51:44SPEAKER_01: So I do appreciate you putting in the effort there.
- 51:48SPEAKER_01: Let's zoom out and do a little bit of a general storylines that are catching our attention heading into the year so that the casual fan or even the diehard fan knows what's at the forefront of the news cycle, I guess, in the NBA.
- 52:00SPEAKER_01: We'll start in the Eastern Conference with our team, the Philadelphia 76ers.
- 52:04SPEAKER_01: They have to be the talk of the town just because of the roster moves they've made this offseason.
- 52:09SPEAKER_01: We broke down the LeBron move a little bit when it happened, but let's spend just a little bit of time taking stock in what we have in Philadelphia and what we're expecting from this regular season.
- 52:20SPEAKER_00: Yeah, so I think, at least me specifically, I think patience is going to be a big word here.
- 52:29SPEAKER_00: They have played one preseason game together and it didn't look great, which again, it's preseason, that'll happen.
- 52:38SPEAKER_00: They're by far the most talented team on paper in the league.
- 52:41SPEAKER_00: I don't think anyone, whether you're a Sixer fan or not, can debate that.
- 52:46SPEAKER_00: It's going to come again, the durability aspect.
- 52:48SPEAKER_00: Like if we can get 45 games out of Joel on the brand, I think that's a win.
- 52:54SPEAKER_00: As long as Tyrese and VJ stay healthy, I think Jalen's an Iron Man himself.
- 52:57SPEAKER_00: He doesn't miss many games.
- 52:59SPEAKER_00: But I think again, the biggest thing is just going to be, you know, how can they play with each other?
- 53:05SPEAKER_00: I think the team's biggest weakness is rebounding.
- 53:07SPEAKER_00: I think they're going to be a very bad rebounding team.
- 53:10SPEAKER_00: Uh defensively, I think it's some question marks as well.
- 53:13SPEAKER_00: I think Jalen Brown's a bit of an overrated defender.
- 53:16SPEAKER_00: Uh, by no means is he a bad one.
- 53:18SPEAKER_00: But I think, you know, how does he guard the opposing team's best wing?
- 53:23SPEAKER_00: But uh with all that being said, I know that was a lot of negativity, Sean, as uh a Sixer fan is trained to do.
- 53:30SPEAKER_00: They'll be a top four seed in the East.
- 53:33SPEAKER_00: I don't think I'm not skeptical of that at all.
- 53:36SPEAKER_00: Uh I think the talent is just too much, even with you know, LeBron and Joel playing half the year.
- 53:41SPEAKER_00: I think their bench is about as good of a bench as they had in arguably since the process era.
- 53:48SPEAKER_00: Dean Wade, Anthony Simons, Contavius Caldwell Pope, uh LeBaron Phyllon, who might play some minutes as a backup point guard his rookie year.
- 53:57SPEAKER_00: Uh the backup five is a question mark, I would say, off the bench.
- 54:00SPEAKER_00: But other than that, I think this is a pretty well-constructed team from a depth perspective.
- 54:05SPEAKER_00: So I think top four seed is where I'm putting my money on for the regular season.
- 54:10SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 54:11SPEAKER_01: So a couple things to unpack.
- 54:12SPEAKER_01: I'm with you on the bench.
- 54:13SPEAKER_01: That's one thing that I was really encouraged by was how they were able to add some depth to a team that usually does not have any.
- 54:20SPEAKER_01: It always has seemed like, at least through Embiid's tenure with the Sixers, when he comes off the court, they're doomed.
- 54:25SPEAKER_01: Or in recent years, when Maxi comes off the court, we can't even get good shots up.
- 54:29SPEAKER_01: So I like that we have a couple creative guys like Anthony Simons and Liberian Phylon.
- 54:35SPEAKER_01: I think they're both going to be able to run the bench unit well.
- 54:38SPEAKER_01: Dean Wade will be a guy who plays a lot with the starters, but then also with that bench unit, he's a really good player.
- 54:43SPEAKER_01: I I like where we're at from just a roster building standpoint.
- 54:47SPEAKER_01: I think it makes sense.
- 54:48SPEAKER_01: I think it's really good.
- 54:49SPEAKER_01: I I'm all positive there.
- 54:51SPEAKER_01: And I'm with you on the top four expectation, I guess.
- 54:55SPEAKER_01: My question would be: does it matter if they're not in the play-in?
- 54:59SPEAKER_01: As long as they avoid the play-in, does it really matter what seed they are?
- 55:03SPEAKER_00: I mean, short answer, no.
- 55:04SPEAKER_00: Like, obviously, you would like home court advantage for as long as you can get it, but I don't think with this team, like getting or not getting home court isn't going to decide the season.
- 55:15SPEAKER_00: It's just going to be health.
- 55:16SPEAKER_00: So, yeah, obviously, like avoiding the plane, I think, is for sure you have to do that.
- 55:21SPEAKER_00: But again, a five or six seed, like the conference is loaded, which we'll get into, like, regardless of what seed you're on, like, it will be a tough matchup round one.
- 55:30SPEAKER_00: Like, there's no gimme's out there.
- 55:32SPEAKER_00: So I think, yeah, just avoiding the plane is would be fine.
- 55:35SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 55:36SPEAKER_01: That that makes sense.
- 55:37SPEAKER_01: Now, you mentioned the conference being loaded, and that was kind of one of the notes I had just doing a little bit of prep on where does the east stand compared to the west?
- 55:45SPEAKER_01: It kind of seemed like in recent years everybody talked about how good the west was, and the east was weak, and it was easier to come out of the east.
- 55:51SPEAKER_01: And that might still be the case because of the two teams at the top of the west, but if you look at the teams in the Eastern Conference, it appears to be a pretty loaded conference.
- 56:00SPEAKER_01: How would you rank, I guess, the teams in the East for the regular season?
- 56:05SPEAKER_01: Not necessarily how you think they do in the playoffs, but who are going to be the best teams in the East for the regular season?
- 56:09SPEAKER_00: So for the regular season, I mean you have to put the Knicks one uh defending champs, you have to give them their due.
- 56:15SPEAKER_00: They're obviously running back, basically the same team.
- 56:18SPEAKER_00: Just replaced Metro Robinson with Andre Drummond, uh, but the core guys are all there.
- 56:23SPEAKER_00: So I'd put them one.
- 56:24SPEAKER_01: I can't believe it's a team that's kind of sorry, I can't believe Drummond's a Nick.
- 56:28SPEAKER_01: I I I love the Andre Corner three renaissance last year in Philly.
- 56:33SPEAKER_01: I can't believe he turned sides and is now playing for that scum team.
- 56:36SPEAKER_00: Listen, we'll just pick and roll him to death defensively and he'll be off the court, Sean.
- 56:40SPEAKER_01: That's a good point.
- 56:41SPEAKER_01: He can't guard near you.
- 56:43SPEAKER_00: And then in terms of two, three, four, I would put I would give it the in no particular order, I would say the Heat, the Sixers, and then I'll throw the Celtics in there.
- 56:54SPEAKER_00: I just Joe Mazzula is very much a try-hard regular season coach.
- 56:59SPEAKER_00: And again, they lost Jalen Brown for Paul George, but I still think they're going to be a solid regular season team.
- 57:06SPEAKER_00: And then you have teams like these are all very good teams.
- 57:08SPEAKER_00: You have the Raptors with Kawhi, you have the Pistons who were the one seed last year.
- 57:14SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 57:14SPEAKER_00: You have the Cavaliers with you know Donovan Mitchell, Mobley, like Peyton Watson from the Nuggets, who is a good young two-way player.
- 57:24SPEAKER_00: So we'll slide into the three-spot.
- 57:26SPEAKER_00: You have the Pacers with Halliburton back this year.
- 57:29SPEAKER_00: They play a thousand miles an hour.
- 57:30SPEAKER_00: I think they're a terrible matchup for the Sixers.
- 57:33SPEAKER_00: So that's four teams right there.
- 57:34SPEAKER_00: So two of these those teams will be playing teams.
- 57:37SPEAKER_00: And then you have the wild cards like the Hawks, who I think will be one of the best offensive teams in the league this year.
- 57:43SPEAKER_00: Uh the Wizards, we mentioned with you know AJ DeBanza, uh Anthony Davis, Trey Young, a lot of talent, but they're a wild card.
- 57:52SPEAKER_00: So those are what I name, like 11 or 12 teams that none of those teams would surprise me if they even got a top six seed.
- 58:01SPEAKER_00: So this is, I think, as loaded as I can remember an Eastern Conference uh being going into the year.
- 58:07SPEAKER_01: Yeah, that's what's fascinating.
- 58:09SPEAKER_01: I'm I'm actually engaged in the regular season heading into it, and maybe that is because LeBron's in Philadelphia, and that's made me just way more excited for the NBA than I've been.
- 58:19SPEAKER_01: But you kind of look up and down the Eastern Conference, and there's just not a ton of bad teams.
- 58:23SPEAKER_01: And there's teams that are all trying to win, and a lot of the teams are pretty loaded.
- 58:27SPEAKER_01: Like you said, you could kind of see any of those 12 that you mentioned finishing in the top six.
- 58:33SPEAKER_01: And there's certain teams like the Pistons, and I would say the Cavs, who they're also regular season try-hard teams, where it wouldn't surprise me much if they were the one, two, or three seed.
- 58:43SPEAKER_01: And yeah, you're not scared of them in a playoff series necessarily, but they're going to be winning a lot of games in the regular season, which makes for an interesting storyline for the teams that are projected to be the playoff teams trying to avoid the play-in.
- 58:54SPEAKER_00: And the magic.
- 58:55SPEAKER_00: I didn't mention the magic.
- 58:56SPEAKER_00: Hollow, Franz Wagner, Desmond Bing, like they almost upset the Pistons last year in the 1-8 matchup.
- 59:03SPEAKER_00: So they're right in that category, I think, with like the that second tier that we mentioned.
- 59:08SPEAKER_01: Yeah, so there's a lot of depth in the Eastern Conference, which is going to be fun.
- 59:12SPEAKER_01: I think that creates a fun regular season.
- 59:14SPEAKER_01: So that's exciting.
- 59:15SPEAKER_01: I think if we flip it to the West Bum, we should just spend a little bit of time on the Thunder and the Spurs.
- 59:21SPEAKER_01: I guess the the Spurs clearly got the better of them last year.
- 59:25SPEAKER_01: I think they won the season series 8-4, and they obviously beat them in the playoffs.
- 59:29SPEAKER_01: Is it still Thunder number two for you, or do you think that they're actually the better team?
- 59:35SPEAKER_00: I would I would put the Thunder, I think, over the Spurs.
- 59:38SPEAKER_00: I think how deep they are.
- 59:40SPEAKER_00: They drafted Mara, the Michigan center.
- 59:44SPEAKER_00: He has looked like a world beater in the preseason.
- 59:48SPEAKER_01: Dude, he's so good.
- 59:50SPEAKER_01: He he was so good at Michigan.
- 59:51SPEAKER_01: I thought he should be a top five pick.
- 59:53SPEAKER_01: And I I don't I don't I haven't seen him once in the preseason, but knowing he went to Oklahoma City, where they're just great at maximizing players' talents, he's going to be very good there.
- 1:00:04SPEAKER_01: And it wouldn't surprise me at all if he plays like meaningful minutes there because he's skilled as shit and he's 7'4.
- 1:00:09SPEAKER_00: And uh Bennett Sturch as well.
- 1:00:12SPEAKER_00: I think he had like a 30-point preseason game as well, another great role player.
- 1:00:16SPEAKER_00: So, I mean, yeah, we know Chet can stop Bembi, so I'll be curious to see what they do with Mara on him in those head-to-head matchups.
- 1:00:22SPEAKER_00: But I think just in terms of the depth, you have to put the thunder over the Spurs.
- 1:00:25SPEAKER_00: I don't want to run off the nuggets.
- 1:00:27SPEAKER_00: I think they may take a minor step back, but they have the best player in the league.
- 1:00:32SPEAKER_00: So that means something.
- 1:00:34SPEAKER_00: But outside of those three teams, like none other, like no other West team is getting me excited.
- 1:00:39SPEAKER_00: Like you could talk me into the Timberwolves.
- 1:00:41SPEAKER_00: I just can't get behind a Lamello Ball-led team as a serious title contender.
- 1:00:47SPEAKER_01: So I guess what I'm reading the tea leaves of what you just said there, would you still put the two most likely teams to win the title to be those two Western Conference teams, the Thunder or Spurs?
- 1:00:57SPEAKER_01: Or do you think the Knicks are in that conversation as well?
- 1:01:00SPEAKER_00: I would I would, yeah.
- 1:01:02SPEAKER_00: I think my top two would be but the gap is not far from them from like the three versus three through like five teams all coming from the east.
- 1:01:12SPEAKER_00: So it's I think a five-team race, I would say, for the championship.
- 1:01:16SPEAKER_00: But the Thunder and Spurs, I think, would would lead the pack.
- 1:01:19SPEAKER_01: Yeah, okay.
- 1:01:20SPEAKER_01: So yeah, it seems like that the top two best teams in the league would probably be the Thunder and Spurs.
- 1:01:26SPEAKER_01: And I'm with you.
- 1:01:27SPEAKER_01: I think the Thunder are a slightly deeper, better team.
- 1:01:29SPEAKER_01: They need to figure out how to beat the Spurs, but just who will win more games in the regular season?
- 1:01:34SPEAKER_01: I would bet it would be the Thunder.
- 1:01:36SPEAKER_01: Now, it seems like one and two come from the West, but then maybe seven of the next eight or nine teams might be from the East in terms of just who best on best.
- 1:01:45SPEAKER_01: I would probably go, I think you're with me.
- 1:01:47SPEAKER_01: You're gonna lump in the Celtics, Sixers, Knicks, Raptors, teams like that, and then the Nuggets, all before you get to that next real team in the West, which could be maybe the Timberwolves or Lakers or whoever that ends up being.
- 1:01:59SPEAKER_00: Yeah, like I would say after the Thunderspurs, I would go like Knicks, Sixers, Heat, and then maybe put the Nuggets in there, and then go, you know, your Celtics, your Pistons, your Cavs, your Pacers, your maybe not magic, but like that tier of Eastern Conference team.
- 1:02:14SPEAKER_00: So I would say, yeah, like seven of the top ten I would put in the Eastern Conference in terms of title contenders.
- 1:02:21SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 1:02:22SPEAKER_01: So should be for an exciting regular season.
- 1:02:24SPEAKER_01: I want to see if the Thunder could start finding out ways to beat Spurs in the regular season.
- 1:02:28SPEAKER_01: I'll try to tune into those matchups when they play.
- 1:02:30SPEAKER_01: That's gonna be good basketball.
- 1:02:31SPEAKER_01: I think the Eastern Conference, there's gonna be just a lot of good games because we talked about there's a lot of good teams.
- 1:02:36SPEAKER_01: So it it's shaping up to be one of the more exciting NBA regular seasons I can remember.
- 1:02:42SPEAKER_01: And again, that might be rose-colored glasses because LeBron James is a Philadelphia 76er, but who cares?
- 1:02:47SPEAKER_01: I'm gonna be tuning in for the first time in a while.
- 1:02:49SPEAKER_01: Now, quickly, Bum, if we if I just had to ask you, who do you think will win the MVP?
- 1:02:55SPEAKER_01: Is it Wemby?
- 1:02:57SPEAKER_01: Is it a guy like Luca?
- 1:02:59SPEAKER_01: Is it Shay again?
- 1:03:00SPEAKER_01: Who who would you go for for MVP?
- 1:03:04SPEAKER_00: I would I think Wemby's the Wemby's the safe bet, I would say.
- 1:03:08SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I think he is my favorite right now.
- 1:03:11SPEAKER_00: I would love to say Tyrese, but it's gonna be hard to on that team.
- 1:03:15SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 1:03:16SPEAKER_00: If I had to throw a dark horse out there for you, I would say I think Giannis is going to have a lot to prove this year, and I'm very high on them in the Eastern Conference.
- 1:03:24SPEAKER_00: I think they'll be a top four seed.
- 1:03:26SPEAKER_00: So yeah, Wemby's the safe pick, and if I wanted to get a little um, you know, spicy on you, I would go Giannis.
- 1:03:32SPEAKER_01: That's interesting because Giannis is kind of in a prove-it situation with a really good basketball coach in Spoolstrust.
- 1:03:38SPEAKER_01: That's kind of a good match in the heat in Miami.
- 1:03:40SPEAKER_01: And I don't think a ton of people are talking about them because of the fact that the Knicks are defending champs and the Sixers got LeBron and the Celtics, even they they shake things up.
- 1:03:48SPEAKER_01: I think the Heat might be flying under the radar a little bit.
- 1:03:50SPEAKER_01: That's a good place to lead the NBA Blum.
- 1:03:52SPEAKER_01: I'm excited for it to start, but next time we we have an episode, it will have tipped off.
- 1:03:57SPEAKER_01: So NBA is back.
- 1:03:59SPEAKER_01: We talked about college, we talked about pro.
- 1:04:02SPEAKER_01: We are now gonna wrap up the show with just a couple of things we have to get off our mind.
- 1:04:07SPEAKER_01: Blum, I have one for you that it's been dominating my TikTok.
- 1:04:11SPEAKER_01: I would say in the past week, I've seen probably 10 of them.
- 1:04:15SPEAKER_01: And it's this trend where it's the song, I got guns in my head and they won't go.
- 1:04:21SPEAKER_01: Spirits in my head and they won't go.
- 1:04:24SPEAKER_01: And it's these high school yearbook photos where they're doing the first part of the video with the yearbook photo, and then they're jumping like 10 years later to what that person looks like now.
- 1:04:35SPEAKER_01: Typically at a wedding, they're all dressed up, they're dressed to the nines.
- 1:04:39SPEAKER_01: And I think I've got to be getting AI'd, but it doesn't seem like AI.
- 1:04:42SPEAKER_01: They seem so real.
- 1:04:44SPEAKER_01: But these people are aging like a fine noir.
- 1:04:48SPEAKER_01: The girls are all rockets, the guys are all beefcakes.
- 1:04:52SPEAKER_01: If they did this with my high school class bomb, we'd be rolling mugshots out.
- 1:04:56SPEAKER_01: It would be it would be the oh, here's live shot behind bars.
- 1:05:00SPEAKER_01: I don't know what is going on.
- 1:05:02SPEAKER_01: And do you have you seen this?
- 1:05:04SPEAKER_01: And do you think it's real?
- 1:05:06SPEAKER_00: So, as a non-social media guy, Sean, I'm shocked this is just coming across your desk because I've been seeing these for it feels like over a year now.
- 1:05:14SPEAKER_00: Okay, here's the song and everything.
- 1:05:16SPEAKER_01: I'm not the only reason I have social media is to post podcast content.
- 1:05:20SPEAKER_01: I try my best to really go on for that and then shut it off.
- 1:05:24SPEAKER_01: Like I don't like it myself.
- 1:05:25SPEAKER_01: Obviously, I slip into some wormholes from time to time, but I do a pretty decent job of not seeing a lot of content.
- 1:05:32SPEAKER_01: I have not been seeing these until very recently.
- 1:05:35SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I actually I enjoy watching them.
- 1:05:37SPEAKER_00: It's one of the few trends I weirdly, which is why I keep seeing them, I think.
- 1:05:42SPEAKER_00: It's like the perfect song for it, too.
- 1:05:44SPEAKER_00: And I just say that because that's like the only song I know that's associated with this trend.
- 1:05:48SPEAKER_00: But yeah, I mean, I did see this, and I'm assuming like they only choose people and they only post it if they've gotten, you know, much hotter than they were in high school.
- 1:05:59SPEAKER_00: But what I'm Am looking forward to and want to see is the reverse of this where you find people that have gained like 200 pounds since high school with the same song and then you cut a VM.
- 1:06:10SPEAKER_00: Like I'm waiting for someone to make like a parody of that, and I think that's the evolution of this trend.
- 1:06:16SPEAKER_01: I want that too, because everyone, everyone looks great in in the in the look ahead.
- 1:06:22SPEAKER_01: It's I've not seen anything like it, which is why I thought it might be fake, but I guess you're saying it's not fake.
- 1:06:27SPEAKER_01: This is not AI.
- 1:06:28SPEAKER_00: No, this is real.
- 1:06:29SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 1:06:30SPEAKER_01: Well, all right.
- 1:06:31SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I I would like to see some other case studies.
- 1:06:35SPEAKER_01: I don't want to just see the hits, I want to see the missus as well.
- 1:06:38SPEAKER_01: So that's the one thing I just wanted to talk about.
- 1:06:41SPEAKER_01: Do you have anything as we wrap up?
- 1:06:43SPEAKER_00: So did you see the the Kelly Clarkson was in the news recently, Sean?
- 1:06:47SPEAKER_01: I did uh okay, I did see that she was in the news, and I know this is what I know.
- 1:06:50SPEAKER_01: I know it had to do with a store, and she was trying to buy something, but I don't know what happened.
- 1:06:55SPEAKER_00: Yeah, so she walked into a store.
- 1:06:57SPEAKER_00: It was called the Art of Play store, I think somewhere in might have been Brooklyn or somewhere in New York, and she saw it was like a type of bird, I think, that she thought was on sale.
- 1:07:11SPEAKER_00: And she asked the person, like, hey, like, can I buy this basically?
- 1:07:15SPEAKER_00: And it was a$15,000 mechanical bird, and the staffer basically just laughed at her, saying, like, oh, like, maybe didn't know who she was.
- 1:07:25SPEAKER_00: It was like, oh, you can't afford this.
- 1:07:27SPEAKER_00: Like, maybe you should find something cheaper.
- 1:07:29SPEAKER_00: And our girl Kelly just lost her mind, called the employee an idiot, went to X and tweeted about it.
- 1:07:38SPEAKER_00: Apparently, the store like put out a statement as well, like apologizing, saying, Hey, this thing was like never for sale.
- 1:07:44SPEAKER_00: I don't know what she was talking about, but this thing like blew up.
- 1:07:48SPEAKER_00: Um, Poblatory did an investigation on it.
- 1:07:51SPEAKER_00: He's now going out of sports and going into the pop culture.
- 1:07:54SPEAKER_00: I haven't watched or read any of that yet, but that got his attention.
- 1:07:58SPEAKER_00: So again, just like a random news story that I wouldn't never thought I would, you know, see Kelly Clarkson in the news for this reason.
- 1:08:07SPEAKER_01: Yeah, that's wild.
- 1:08:09SPEAKER_01: I did not know that the store basically said no, you you're you're not gonna be able to uh afford this, honey.
- 1:08:16SPEAKER_01: So you keep it moving.
- 1:08:17SPEAKER_01: Maybe maybe we can interest you in the the plastic model.
- 1:08:20SPEAKER_01: That's interesting to me.
- 1:08:22SPEAKER_01: I I feel like that's gotta be on the store.
- 1:08:25SPEAKER_01: That's their fault.
- 1:08:26SPEAKER_01: You can't you can't treat customers like that.
- 1:08:28SPEAKER_01: You have to assume everybody's equal.
- 1:08:30SPEAKER_01: You know, you can't just look at somebody and what they're wearing and be like, oh, little do you know she's Miss American Idol, she's the first ever winner.
- 1:08:37SPEAKER_01: I think that's on the store.
- 1:08:39SPEAKER_01: From these details, I'd be interested to hear what Pablo Torre has to say.
- 1:08:42SPEAKER_01: I'm sure he's gone to the ends of the earth to figure this one out.
- 1:08:45SPEAKER_00: And like she claimed there was a price tag on it, they claimed there wasn't.
- 1:08:49SPEAKER_00: So now it's just like a he said, she said situation.
- 1:08:52SPEAKER_00: So it's it seems like it's a mess.
- 1:08:54SPEAKER_01: I did see this is making national news though.
- 1:08:56SPEAKER_01: I'm I'm glad you brought it up because I did see people talking about this and I just didn't know what exactly happened.
- 1:09:01SPEAKER_01: But we'll report back on the findings of the bird fiasco.
- 1:09:04SPEAKER_01: So thank you for bringing that to the listeners' attention, Blum.
- 1:09:07SPEAKER_01: Anything on the way out, what are you doing in these fall weekends?
- 1:09:10SPEAKER_01: Are you watching any spooky season shows or movies, any activities lined up?
- 1:09:13SPEAKER_00: So I'm we are in the market for any type of Halloween shows.
- 1:09:17SPEAKER_00: Uh yeah, could be the classics, could be new stuff, always on Netflix, things like that.
- 1:09:23SPEAKER_00: So uh I'm all ears.
- 1:09:25SPEAKER_00: So if you, Sean, or any listeners have any ideas, uh you know, I'm open to anything.
- 1:09:29SPEAKER_01: I'm pretty bad with having time to consume contents hard when sports are on.
- 1:09:33SPEAKER_01: I feel like I try not to watch too much TV, and then when I do, it's usually sports at this point.
- 1:09:37SPEAKER_01: But I did watch the movie Obsession.
- 1:09:39SPEAKER_01: Have you seen that?
- 1:09:40SPEAKER_00: No, I've not.
- 1:09:41SPEAKER_01: It's on Peacock.
- 1:09:42SPEAKER_01: So if you're interested for a movie, it's a spooky one.
- 1:09:46SPEAKER_01: I just watched it recently.
- 1:09:47SPEAKER_01: I'd been saving it for this time of year.
- 1:09:48SPEAKER_01: It's I think it's up for awards.
- 1:09:50SPEAKER_01: It came out in June or July, maybe.
- 1:09:52SPEAKER_01: Uh it's it's an interesting it's an interesting movie and it fits the time of year.
- 1:09:55SPEAKER_01: So maybe I would recommend that.
- 1:09:57SPEAKER_01: It I'm not a horror movie guy and it's not super scary, but it is creepy and eerie.
- 1:10:02SPEAKER_01: So that's the extent of where I'll go in the horror realm.
- 1:10:05SPEAKER_01: I don't really like being sitting on the edge of my seat for an hour and a half waiting for something to about scare the piss out of me.
- 1:10:10SPEAKER_01: So this is like as far as I'll go in that direction, and it was pretty good, and I will say the lead actress.
- 1:10:16SPEAKER_01: Poof.
- 1:10:17SPEAKER_01: She breaks the Barney Stinson crazy hot scale.
- 1:10:19SPEAKER_01: She breaks it.
- 1:10:20SPEAKER_01: She is insanely hot and equally insanely crazy.
- 1:10:24SPEAKER_01: Who is it?
- 1:10:25SPEAKER_01: Indy Navaretti.
- 1:10:26SPEAKER_01: I think it was her first big role.
- 1:10:28SPEAKER_01: She's uh she's not a gummer.
- 1:10:29SPEAKER_01: If we want to talk about stocks that we're buying, I fucking bought some shares of Indy Navaretti.
- 1:10:34SPEAKER_00: I'll have to uh do some research.
- 1:10:36SPEAKER_01: Yeah, give that one a watch, report back next time.
- 1:10:38SPEAKER_01: But other than that, Blum, I appreciate you hopping on.
- 1:10:40SPEAKER_01: This was a fun episode as always.
- 1:10:42SPEAKER_00: Yeah, thanks for having me, Sean.
- 1:10:43SPEAKER_00: Uh big weekend of sports ahead, so looking forward to it.
- 1:10:47SPEAKER_01: Big weekend of sports, sixers starting soon, a lot on our calendars.
- 1:10:51SPEAKER_01: We'll talk about it all here with you next week.
- 1:10:53SPEAKER_01: Listeners, thank you all for tuning in.
- 1:10:56SPEAKER_01: We appreciate your support.
- 1:10:57SPEAKER_01: Like and subscribe on the way out.
- 1:10:59SPEAKER_01: And until next time, take care of the video.
