- 0:00Speaker 1: That's going on everybody. We made it to Thursday and
- 0:02Speaker 1: we talked a lot. Man. We talked a little bit
- 0:04Speaker 1: about who gets a foul ball at a ball game
- 0:08Speaker 1: when who has the right to the ball when it
- 0:10Speaker 1: flies into the stands. We also talked to George Lopez,
- 0:13Speaker 1: and of course relationships. Michael Bean was on, and then
- 0:16Speaker 1: we talked a lot about relationships. Let's see what happened.
- 0:19Speaker 1: I had been waiting to talk to you guys about
- 0:22Speaker 1: this for a couple of weeks. Now I wanted it
- 0:25Speaker 1: to cool off a little bit because some of my
- 0:26Speaker 1: friends that I grew up with still listen to the
- 0:29Speaker 1: show online. So I had to let it cool off
- 0:33Speaker 1: a little bit before I tell. Okay, a good friend
- 0:37Speaker 1: of mine, and he is a good friend of mine,
- 0:41Speaker 1: his wife got some photos of him messing with another woman,
- 0:49Speaker 1: So he was cheating on his wife. The woman he
- 0:52Speaker 1: was messing around with her husband, I guess, caught them
- 0:56Speaker 1: together and sent the kotos that he took of them
- 1:01Speaker 1: together to his wife. Now, she confronted him with this right,
- 1:08Speaker 1: and this idiot he I shouldn't call him an idiot
- 1:16Speaker 1: because she believes him. But this idiot told his wife
- 1:21Speaker 1: that they were AI photos. He said they were doctor photos.
- 1:27Speaker 1: He's not messing around on her, and that the guy
- 1:31Speaker 1: who sent them just has beef with him for another reason.
- 1:36Speaker 1: I didn't I didn't get what the other reason is.
- 1:40Speaker 1: But she believed him. Now, I this idiot. He got
- 1:49Speaker 1: away with it so far up to this point. His
- 1:53Speaker 1: wife believes that the photos of him with this other
- 1:57Speaker 1: women woman are AI artificial intelligence, their doctor. They're not real.
- 2:03Speaker 1: Now AI is going to change the world in a
- 2:08Speaker 1: way that will never It's gonna be tough, right to
- 2:11Speaker 1: understand if something's real or not. We already see it,
- 2:17Speaker 1: I mean in in social media posts. We already see
- 2:20Speaker 1: it online. They make movies AI movies now that are
- 2:26Speaker 1: tough to understand if they're real or not. Right, I don't.
- 2:29Speaker 1: I don't really pay that close attention to it because
- 2:32Speaker 1: it's not uh to me. I don't I don't know.
- 2:36Speaker 1: To me, I don't care. But can you tell if
- 2:42Speaker 1: it's AI or not?
- 2:43Speaker 2: Now?
- 2:43Speaker 1: I do pay attention to AI when it comes to
- 2:46Speaker 1: how it's gonna change the world. You know, is AI
- 2:49Speaker 1: going to take over you know, take over the planet
- 2:51Speaker 1: like a Terminator movie and then kill off all the humans,
- 2:55Speaker 1: or is aar going to destroy uh, you know, human life,
- 2:58Speaker 1: which I think is stupid. I don't believe that. But
- 3:02Speaker 1: are you guys scared of AI? I mean, I don't
- 3:03Speaker 1: even know. The conversation about AI is the one I
- 3:06Speaker 1: wanted to have. But I think it's just funny that
- 3:09Speaker 1: my friend of mine used AI as an excuse to
- 3:15Speaker 1: get away with cheating, and so far it's working for them.
- 3:19Speaker 1: What do you guys think about AI? What do you guys?
- 3:22Speaker 1: Do you think it's really going to be detrimental to society?
- 3:26Speaker 1: I mean, my buddy used it to get out of
- 3:28Speaker 1: a cheating scandal with his wife. Already four two pot
- 3:32Speaker 1: four or seven to seven? Good morning? That what's going on?
- 3:36Speaker 3: Yeah, you're talking about AI?
- 3:38Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 3:38Speaker 4: What do you go?
- 3:38Speaker 2: Bro?
- 3:40Speaker 5: So I was just talking.
- 3:40Speaker 3: About this with my buddies the other day. I think
- 3:42Speaker 3: it's making everybody incredibly lazy, like stupid lazy. An example
- 3:49Speaker 3: I have is like at work, a lot of my
- 3:51Speaker 3: coworkers they like to use AI to draft their emails.
- 3:58Speaker 3: I understand, like it's mundane, you know, having to do
- 4:01Speaker 3: our having to do our job, get a little foreign. Yeah,
- 4:04Speaker 3: But what it does is like whenever we're in like
- 4:07Speaker 3: a big meeting with HR or we're having meeting with
- 4:10Speaker 3: our union. Okay, their critical thinking is just gone.
- 4:14Speaker 2: You know.
- 4:16Speaker 1: It's funny that you say that, because I was talking
- 4:18Speaker 1: to somebody and that's what they were saying. They were saying,
- 4:20Speaker 1: people are becoming stupider because of AI. The generations are
- 4:25Speaker 1: becoming dumber because AI does the work for them. And
- 4:28Speaker 1: like you just said, no critical thinking, no problem solving skills,
- 4:32Speaker 1: they're losing all that. But that's so yeah, I agree
- 4:38Speaker 1: with you.
- 4:39Speaker 3: All right, people haven't watched Terminator enough. Man, I grew up.
- 4:43Speaker 3: Derek Connor would be shaking her head at a be embarrassed.
- 4:47Speaker 3: You guys need to watch those movies again.
- 4:51Speaker 1: All right, man, thanks for calling. You know, and I
- 4:57Speaker 1: will say this. This is what I want to say
- 4:59Speaker 1: that along with that is, you know, we talk about
- 5:04Speaker 1: computers taking over and like he just said, the Terminator, right,
- 5:08Speaker 1: we watch movies where computers take over the world and
- 5:15Speaker 1: humans are fighting for survival. But and that's gonna sound
- 5:21Speaker 1: nutty and be a little bit might be over your head,
- 5:23Speaker 1: a little bit, but the computers have already taken us over.
- 5:27Speaker 1: The iPhones, the cell phones are so much like a
- 5:32Speaker 1: drug that people actually lose it if they can't get
- 5:36Speaker 1: on their phones or they can't get on social media.
- 5:39Speaker 1: The computers have already brainwashed the human race and have
- 5:43Speaker 1: taken over, even though it's not in the same way
- 5:46Speaker 1: that you see in the movies. It's not in the
- 5:49Speaker 1: same way that you see where the computers are just
- 5:53Speaker 1: running everything and they got their own little robot army,
- 5:56Speaker 1: and the and the and the and the humans are,
- 5:59Speaker 1: you know, fighting for revival in a military way like
- 6:02Speaker 1: they do in the Sarah Connors or the Whatevers. But
- 6:05Speaker 1: you're already been taken over. I mean, you guys are
- 6:08Speaker 1: already controlled by by a robot, by a by technology
- 6:12Speaker 1: with your phones. And if you think you're not, you're stupid,
- 6:15Speaker 1: because you are. You're just in denial in the same
- 6:18Speaker 1: way that a person who's hooked on a drugs or
- 6:21Speaker 1: alcohol would say, I'm not a drug here, I'm not
- 6:23Speaker 1: an alcoholic, because you are. You're you're hooked on your
- 6:27Speaker 1: phones and there's it's the world that we live in
- 6:29Speaker 1: right now. So I would argue that you've all the
- 6:32Speaker 1: computers have already taken over. The problem is are they
- 6:35Speaker 1: going to wipe you out? Like in these terminator movies, right,
- 6:39Speaker 1: I don't know. Are you afraid of AI? I don't
- 6:41Speaker 1: know if you should do or not. But it is
- 6:46Speaker 1: making you dumber. AI is definitely making you dumber. Yeah,
- 6:53Speaker 1: but I But then again, you have to make the
- 6:55Speaker 1: other argument for AI. If I can just look something
- 6:59Speaker 1: up on how to do it and then do it,
- 7:02Speaker 1: why do I need to solve the problem on my own?
- 7:06Speaker 1: You know, if if and I do this, I still
- 7:09Speaker 1: do this, right. I have conversations about certain things like, oh,
- 7:13Speaker 1: how many super Bowls did you know Tom Brady win?
- 7:17Speaker 1: Or whatever? A question like that. I don't go to
- 7:19Speaker 1: AI to look at the answer. If I don't know it,
- 7:21Speaker 1: I try to figure it out. But I'll be sitting
- 7:25Speaker 1: next to a friend who would just go right to
- 7:27Speaker 1: I mean, I had that conversation this morning.
- 7:29Speaker 2: Now.
- 7:29Speaker 1: We were talking about something for music, how old. Oh
- 7:32Speaker 1: we were talking about how old Lisa Lisa was, and
- 7:37Speaker 1: I was trying to do the math in my head
- 7:39Speaker 1: about last time you know, blah blah blah. A guy
- 7:41Speaker 1: next to me he just looked it up. Oh, she's
- 7:43Speaker 1: this age, you know what I'm saying. So I don't
- 7:46Speaker 1: know necessarily what's uh. I guess I can stand on
- 7:52Speaker 1: both sides of the fence. But I do I do believe.
- 7:55Speaker 1: I don't believe AI is going to take me over.
- 7:57Speaker 1: I don't think it's going to take over the world,
- 8:00Speaker 1: you know, in the way that you see in Terminator.
- 8:02Speaker 1: Let's see here, you send me something about my buddy.
- 8:07Speaker 1: Uh good morning, Rome. I really hope that lady's not
- 8:10Speaker 1: listening to the radio because now she gonna know her
- 8:12Speaker 1: husband was cheating. She's not listening to my show. Hold on,
- 8:16Speaker 1: let me get this phone call and I'll explain. Good morning,
- 8:18Speaker 1: how what's going on?
- 8:20Speaker 2: Bro?
- 8:20Speaker 6: The only people that have to fear AI is the
- 8:24Speaker 6: smart people to geep, so the nerds.
- 8:28Speaker 1: Why is that?
- 8:29Speaker 6: Because I mean before they had they You know, I
- 8:31Speaker 6: got a friend that went to school four years for
- 8:34Speaker 6: computer tech. He can design stuff, and he's been replaced
- 8:39Speaker 6: by AI. Uhh, No, these people that thought they were smart,
- 8:43Speaker 6: I can just use AI and be just as smart
- 8:46Speaker 6: of them, right to Dave got the advantage now on
- 8:49Speaker 6: all these smart guys. Okay, I have nothing to fear.
- 8:52Speaker 6: It's made me smart, it's made me more advanced.
- 8:55Speaker 1: So but you all for AI, But you don't think
- 8:57Speaker 1: AI is gonna take O take control of the world
- 8:59Speaker 1: that becomes some some crazy thing that runs us, right.
- 9:04Speaker 6: I don't think so, only because there, even though it
- 9:07Speaker 6: is smart technology, they don't have that gut, it's instinct.
- 9:11Speaker 6: They don't know how to you know, what about all
- 9:13Speaker 6: the jobs.
- 9:14Speaker 1: Their word's gonna take over all the jobs, and nobody's
- 9:16Speaker 1: gonna have, nobody's gonna be able to I.
- 9:19Speaker 7: Don't think so.
- 9:19Speaker 2: I don't think so.
- 9:20Speaker 6: It's gonna take over the smart and the nerds. The
- 9:22Speaker 6: nerds are gonna be out of business. But thus hard
- 9:25Speaker 6: workers are still changed hired and still work, you know,
- 9:29Speaker 6: labor jobs.
- 9:29Speaker 5: We're we're all right about.
- 9:31Speaker 1: What about robot eyes? They got robots now to do
- 9:34Speaker 1: that stuff.
- 9:35Speaker 5: Yeah, but it's not gonna work. It's not gonna be
- 9:37Speaker 5: the same, Okay.
- 9:39Speaker 1: I'm just I'm just asking. I'm not scared of AI either.
- 9:41Speaker 2: I'm not.
- 9:42Speaker 1: It doesn't scare me at all.
- 9:43Speaker 6: Because I don't think AI it could be as twenty
- 9:45Speaker 6: as you.
- 9:46Speaker 1: Or you know, oh, not even close, not even there.
- 9:49Speaker 6: It is there, and they can't be as annoying as
- 9:51Speaker 6: great a days so.
- 9:56Speaker 1: And it can definitely can't be as dumb as glues.
- 9:59Speaker 5: So we are good. We are us street are guaranteed.
- 10:03Speaker 1: All right. Anyway, Oh my god, So back to what
- 10:10Speaker 1: I was. Somebody said that he hopes the ladies not listed.
- 10:13Speaker 1: What happened was a friend of mine and he's in Atlanta.
- 10:15Speaker 1: He lives in Atlanta with his wife. So he was
- 10:20Speaker 1: cheating on his wife. And I believe he was cheating.
- 10:23Speaker 1: But anyway, the husband of the woman he was cheating
- 10:25Speaker 1: with took photos and sent them to my friend's wife,
- 10:29Speaker 1: and he just told his wife it was AI. Those
- 10:31Speaker 1: are AI photos. They're not real. Somebody's this guy doesn't
- 10:34Speaker 1: like me. He's trying to get even with me for
- 10:36Speaker 1: some reason. And she believed them.
- 10:37Speaker 8: So but AI.
- 10:39Speaker 1: A lot of people are afraid of AI losing their jobs.
- 10:42Speaker 1: They're afraid they're going to turn into terminators and take
- 10:44Speaker 1: over the world. And I doubt And you guys got
- 10:47Speaker 1: to stop listening to these idiots who think AI, because
- 10:50Speaker 1: we could still just unplug it, just like a computer.
- 10:54Speaker 1: Just we're back to business, right all righty four two five,
- 10:58Speaker 1: four seven to seven. So it's Romeo, Oh, tending you
- 11:03Speaker 1: about a buddy of mine. He got uh, I think
- 11:05Speaker 1: he got caught his wife. His wife believes him though,
- 11:09Speaker 1: but he was messing around with some lady. The lady's
- 11:12Speaker 1: husband caught him, caught pictures of him, sent it to
- 11:18Speaker 1: his wife. My friend's wife. He just told her it
- 11:21Speaker 1: was Ai, and she believed him. She believed him. It's crazy,
- 11:26Speaker 1: alrighty four two five, four seven to seven A roam.
- 11:29Speaker 1: You don't think AI is going to take your job?
- 11:31Speaker 2: Now?
- 11:31Speaker 1: AI can have my job? You know what it's like,
- 11:34Speaker 1: dealing with two fools all the day, all this all
- 11:36Speaker 1: this time. Hey, I could have my job, but no,
- 11:39Speaker 1: he has not taken my job. I mean, come on, now,
- 11:43Speaker 1: you guys worried about AI?
- 11:44Speaker 9: And uh?
- 11:46Speaker 1: I mean, there's a couple of different ways to look
- 11:48Speaker 1: at it. Are you worried about the fact that it's
- 11:50Speaker 1: gonna take your job? Are you worried about the fact
- 11:53Speaker 1: that it's going to take over the world. Oh, it's
- 11:56Speaker 1: smarter than a so what, It's still just a machine. Okay,
- 12:00Speaker 1: you guys got to stop watching Terminator and all these
- 12:02Speaker 1: ridiculous movies that make it seem if anything, if anything
- 12:06Speaker 1: AI is going to do, it's already have done. And
- 12:10Speaker 1: that's with your cell phones. Your cell phones control you.
- 12:14Speaker 1: And if you don't think they do, you're just in denial,
- 12:17Speaker 1: but your cell phones control you. So technology is already winning.
- 12:23Speaker 2: You know.
- 12:24Speaker 1: The one thing it is doing is it's making people stupider, dumber.
- 12:28Speaker 1: And it did say that. I saw a story the
- 12:31Speaker 1: other day that said women are the ones that are
- 12:35Speaker 1: going to be affected the most the effects of AI
- 12:40Speaker 1: on working lives of women. It's women. I guess they're
- 12:43Speaker 1: going to be affected the most when it comes to AI.
- 12:48Speaker 1: Women face higher workplace risks when it comes to AI.
- 12:53Speaker 1: So it's interesting. Hey, rom I've caught AI lying numerous times,
- 12:58Speaker 1: which makes me wonder how many times have I believe
- 13:00Speaker 1: something it told me that I didn't know. Well, the
- 13:04Speaker 1: thing about AI you have to understand is it depends
- 13:07Speaker 1: on who programs it. I know exactly what you're talking about.
- 13:10Speaker 1: There are different AIS that will tell you different things
- 13:14Speaker 1: because of the beliefs of the human that programmed it.
- 13:19Speaker 1: So that's what you think human air. You think AI
- 13:22Speaker 1: is gonna take over humans? No, no, no, no, no, no,
- 13:25Speaker 1: you gotta be you can't be that stupid. It's not
- 13:29Speaker 1: gonna kill all the human beings. It's not gonna take
- 13:32Speaker 1: over the human race. It's just it's just gonna be
- 13:36Speaker 1: there in the same way. It's just gonna make you dumber,
- 13:40Speaker 1: is what it's gonna do.
- 13:42Speaker 2: Hey, what's the lou.
- 13:45Speaker 4: I gotta disagree with you on the AI stuff.
- 13:47Speaker 1: Well, that's because you're a moron, and no is because
- 13:51Speaker 1: I got proof.
- 13:52Speaker 2: Man.
- 13:52Speaker 4: I was now Ley a couple of weeks ago and
- 13:55Speaker 4: I ordered a ride and it was one of those
- 13:57Speaker 4: cars that drive them. Oh well mo away moo, yeah
- 14:03Speaker 4: yeah away morey AI.
- 14:06Speaker 1: I get it, but it's still the technology. Those things
- 14:09Speaker 1: just blocked up a street in Texas for like fifteen
- 14:12Speaker 1: hours because all they all came to the same spot
- 14:14Speaker 1: at the same time. There's they're not they're not perfected
- 14:17Speaker 1: nowhere near enough to take over the world. And I'm
- 14:21Speaker 1: they probably won't be.
- 14:23Speaker 4: Yeah, probably not the world, but the majority of like
- 14:28Speaker 4: big cities, maybe Bakersfield, not Watcoat, definitely not Walcot.
- 14:35Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 14:35Speaker 4: And then also a I ordered some food on door
- 14:38Speaker 4: dash and it was like a little a little robot
- 14:41Speaker 4: came to the door.
- 14:42Speaker 1: I seen that clown.
- 14:44Speaker 2: I was in Uh.
- 14:45Speaker 1: I was in La a couple of weeks ago, and
- 14:49Speaker 1: I saw that thing going down the street and it
- 14:51Speaker 1: got stuck. So give me a break, you guys. You
- 14:56Speaker 1: know what, all right, all right, right, all right. I
- 15:01Speaker 1: mean I think AI is gonna do some things, but
- 15:04Speaker 1: it's not gonna control the world like you guys see
- 15:07Speaker 1: in some sort of silly movie. You know, Hey, what
- 15:11Speaker 1: I'm wrong. All I can say is that my job, can't,
- 15:14Speaker 1: my co can't my coworker's job, for sure, because AI
- 15:18Speaker 1: definitely isn't gonna kiss my boss's ass. Oh yeah, AI
- 15:27Speaker 1: will take over some jobs, but it's not gonna control
- 15:31Speaker 1: the world. There are people that think the end of
- 15:33Speaker 1: the world is coming because of AI, and that these
- 15:37Speaker 1: robots are gonna it's gonna become what sentient? Is that
- 15:40Speaker 1: what it means gonna think for yourself. It's gonna become
- 15:43Speaker 1: its own No, it won't, you know, it's not. It's
- 15:48Speaker 1: still just a machine, that's all it is.
- 15:52Speaker 2: Now.
- 15:52Speaker 1: It may be able to scour the Internet faster, but
- 15:56Speaker 1: it's not finding anything that hasn't already programmed. That's the thing.
- 16:03Speaker 1: It's not gonna become some sort of its own thing
- 16:06Speaker 1: and take over the world like you see in the movies.
- 16:09Speaker 1: It's just it's not what you need to What you
- 16:13Speaker 1: need to be afraid of more than AI is the
- 16:17Speaker 1: cell phones and how all of you cannot get off
- 16:19Speaker 1: your freaking phone. I would be more worried about that. Oh,
- 16:24Speaker 1: we got George Lopez with us this morning. He is
- 16:26Speaker 1: a legend in comedy, in television and movies. He's gonna
- 16:30Speaker 1: be at the Fox Theater Saturday, May sixteenth. Good morning, George,
- 16:34Speaker 1: good morning.
- 16:35Speaker 2: You know it's always when I see people, they always go, hey,
- 16:39Speaker 2: George Lopez. It's never just just George. I think from
- 16:43Speaker 2: the show. I think the first show. Hey, hey, get
- 16:46Speaker 2: out of the way.
- 16:49Speaker 1: You know, well, it's funny. I know you you won't
- 16:51Speaker 1: remember because you've met thousands of millions of people. We
- 16:55Speaker 1: met in Sacramento a long time ago when I first
- 16:58Speaker 1: got into radio on kas FM, and it's been a
- 17:01Speaker 1: long time, and your career is just it's incredible, how
- 17:06Speaker 1: much you bet.
- 17:07Speaker 8: I mean, you know, even at the beginning, man, like
- 17:10Speaker 8: you know, there was no kind of.
- 17:12Speaker 2: Template for uh, you know, for us. You know, so
- 17:17Speaker 2: as as you kept going, you would be like, oh,
- 17:19Speaker 2: you could do that. Like I didn't ever think about
- 17:22Speaker 2: having one show, much less like five. Man.
- 17:25Speaker 8: I mean, it's just it was every day. Every day
- 17:27Speaker 8: I chewed out on.
- 17:28Speaker 2: It, man, because it's like I'd never imagined it would
- 17:31Speaker 2: go like this, you know, I was gonna and.
- 17:33Speaker 1: What are you most proud of? Georgia? I mean, you've
- 17:34Speaker 1: done it all. You've done that the TV show with
- 17:37Speaker 1: your latest one with with your daughter, I believe, if
- 17:39Speaker 1: I remember correctly, then you had the one before that,
- 17:43Speaker 1: which was Oh my god, that one was so funny.
- 17:46Speaker 1: It was more it was what was the one before that.
- 17:48Speaker 2: Like like the TV Yeah, it was more.
- 17:54Speaker 1: It was more like a cur Yes, that one was great,
- 17:58Speaker 1: Oh my gosh, that one was so So what are
- 18:01Speaker 1: you most proud? I mean, you've been doing stand up forever.
- 18:04Speaker 1: You're a leg next. I don't want to pigeonhole you,
- 18:07Speaker 1: but as a Mexican comedian, you are one of the greatest.
- 18:11Speaker 1: If not, I won't even know who's who's accomplished more
- 18:15Speaker 1: than you.
- 18:16Speaker 2: Thank you. You know what. I think there's two asses.
- 18:19Speaker 2: I think doing the show with Mayan was pretty much
- 18:23Speaker 2: beyond uh my imagination, you know. And it's funny that
- 18:27Speaker 2: being you know, working with your daughter that when I
- 18:30Speaker 2: would see her every day, I would I would my
- 18:32Speaker 2: mind would.
- 18:33Speaker 8: See her being born, and see her at two, here
- 18:36Speaker 8: at five.
- 18:37Speaker 2: And then see her as this woman. So I would say,
- 18:39Speaker 2: because it's hard enough to get a show on your own.
- 18:42Speaker 2: Let's let's bring your kid with. Everybody takes your kids everywhere.
- 18:46Speaker 2: But like, you know, and then I think, personally on
- 18:49Speaker 2: the on the other side of it, I think the
- 18:52Speaker 2: start on the Walk of Fame in two thousand and
- 18:54Speaker 2: six was pretty big.
- 18:55Speaker 1: Oh that's so impressive. I mean, it's just it's just
- 18:58Speaker 1: and it's the thing is I me know, I saw
- 19:01Speaker 1: you when you were first starting in the comedy clubs,
- 19:04Speaker 1: and now all these years later, it's just it's incredible
- 19:08Speaker 1: to be there in the beginning and see.
- 19:10Speaker 2: It all of you know, you know back then, you know,
- 19:13Speaker 2: Sacramento was awesome.
- 19:14Speaker 8: Man, it was just you know those things too, you know,
- 19:16Speaker 8: like all the all the.
- 19:18Speaker 2: Radio relationships you made and all the clubs and stuff.
- 19:21Speaker 2: It's like, if you're fortunate enough to have people come
- 19:24Speaker 2: and see you, you know, it's easy to get to
- 19:27Speaker 2: get better. Man. But you know, sometimes when I when
- 19:30Speaker 2: I think about things, and I'll tell somebody that I
- 19:32Speaker 2: don't know if I would have had the heart for it,
- 19:34Speaker 2: if I hadn't have become successful, Like how much do
- 19:37Speaker 2: you take before you say, you know, I think I
- 19:40Speaker 2: wrapped this up well.
- 19:41Speaker 1: How how did you do it though, Georgia, With this
- 19:43Speaker 1: I did. These comedians coming out today, they go put
- 19:45Speaker 1: a little clip on YouTube or and then their Instagram
- 19:48Speaker 1: or TikTok, and all of a sudden they get a
- 19:50Speaker 1: show you were you were fighting for a space that
- 19:53Speaker 1: just wasn't there when you start.
- 19:55Speaker 2: Yeah, it's definitely way it's way different. You know.
- 19:57Speaker 8: One time I was doing the view and they had
- 20:00Speaker 8: some influencers.
- 20:02Speaker 2: Goal before me, and they're like, they're gonna go. They're
- 20:05Speaker 2: gonna go before yous, with maybe three of them, And
- 20:07Speaker 2: I said, then you'll be the second. Guess that I said,
- 20:10Speaker 2: all right, But then as they were on, they had
- 20:14Speaker 2: nothing to really contribute other than whatever video they showed. Yeah,
- 20:19Speaker 2: so they kind of ran out of like seam there.
- 20:23Speaker 2: And then when I went out there, you know, all prepared,
- 20:25Speaker 2: you know, and they were like, man, that's the eye
- 20:28Speaker 2: opening you know that that you put three of them
- 20:31Speaker 2: out there at all they are about is what they video.
- 20:34Speaker 1: Yeah, all right, so hold on, Georgia. Second, we got
- 20:37Speaker 1: more with George Lopez. He's gonna be at the Fox
- 20:39Speaker 1: Theater May sixteenth. They get your tickets. Now, that's a
- 20:42Speaker 1: Saturday for George Lopez is here. He's got to be
- 20:45Speaker 1: the Fox Theater Saturday, May sixteenth. And you were, I
- 20:48Speaker 1: mean you were, you were fighting. When you were there
- 20:50Speaker 1: were only well a couple of comedians, a couple of
- 20:52Speaker 1: top comedians. Back in the eighties and nineties when there
- 20:55Speaker 1: was there wasn't room for everybody. Everybody nobody got a
- 20:58Speaker 1: TV show like you did.
- 21:00Speaker 2: Yeah, you know. The the craziest thing is, you know,
- 21:02Speaker 2: I saw a picture of Led Zeppelin, you know, walking
- 21:05Speaker 2: you know, down this hall the way backstage, and I said,
- 21:08Speaker 2: it looks a little bit now because it's been so long, man,
- 21:11Speaker 2: like fifty years.
- 21:12Speaker 8: Like those dudes walk there and you're like you should.
- 21:16Speaker 2: Be dinosaurs or even fed around. And then and then
- 21:20Speaker 2: you see these guys and you're like, man, like I
- 21:22Speaker 2: was alive. I knew Richard Pryor, you know, I saw
- 21:25Speaker 2: Ride the Danger Fields. I saw all these old dudes
- 21:28Speaker 2: that aren't around anymore. But when I was growing up,
- 21:30Speaker 2: like those were the those were the guys that everybody
- 21:33Speaker 2: tried to be. You know, those guys have been trying
- 21:34Speaker 2: to look at them.
- 21:35Speaker 1: But now you're one of those guys. If you put
- 21:37Speaker 1: in the context moving forward, you're now one of those guys,
- 21:40Speaker 1: one of those iconic comedians now that are that are
- 21:44Speaker 1: still around.
- 21:45Speaker 2: And you know, I think I think in all the
- 21:48Speaker 2: things that I've done, I think, you know, in movies,
- 21:51Speaker 2: you they you Robert Rodriguez, I did movies with Sharp
- 21:54Speaker 2: Boy with him, and when every time I messed up,
- 21:56Speaker 2: he goes, come over here, let me show you. So
- 21:58Speaker 2: you can show me in the monitor where I messed up.
- 22:01Speaker 2: And he'd be like, all right, don't do that. And
- 22:03Speaker 2: I'd be like, oh dude, it's like a like a
- 22:05Speaker 2: dog man. They bring you to the don't ever do
- 22:08Speaker 2: this again. And I was like, man, I gotta go away.
- 22:11Speaker 2: I just want to show you real quickly, like oh
- 22:12Speaker 2: my god. Like so, so, I think stand up is
- 22:15Speaker 2: the is the freest form of I think that's why
- 22:18Speaker 2: I think it's it's elevated comedians and there's a lot
- 22:21Speaker 2: of you know, there's a Netflix Festival when the comedians
- 22:24Speaker 2: do the Hollywood Bowl.
- 22:25Speaker 8: Now, you know, I did Me and Me in Tantana did.
- 22:28Speaker 2: The Hollywood Bowl in two in two thousand and nine,
- 22:31Speaker 2: which does not even sound like it's almost twenty years ago.
- 22:34Speaker 1: Oh wow, what hey, what do you think about comedy
- 22:36Speaker 1: today now? What do you think about it after all
- 22:40Speaker 1: these years of being in it and being you know,
- 22:43Speaker 1: a pioneer to an extent of some of it. What
- 22:45Speaker 1: do you what do you think about comedy today?
- 22:47Speaker 2: You know, I wish one thing. I wish the times
- 22:50Speaker 2: were different. I wish there wasn't so much like division
- 22:54Speaker 2: and so much.
- 22:56Speaker 8: Like people hating on each other man and and all
- 23:00Speaker 8: things that people you.
- 23:01Speaker 2: Know, get doied on the internet and you know, you
- 23:03Speaker 2: know they're they're not prepared for it. But I just
- 23:05Speaker 2: think that I just hope, I just wish the times
- 23:07Speaker 2: were different, like we were living in a more in
- 23:09Speaker 2: a halfier time. And you do it all these years
- 23:12Speaker 2: and then when you want to kind of wrap it up,
- 23:14Speaker 2: it's crazier than it was than it was and any
- 23:17Speaker 2: other time in your career, it's almost like you're almost
- 23:19Speaker 2: forced to go out there.
- 23:20Speaker 1: Oh yeah, what so what do you so?
- 23:23Speaker 2: What?
- 23:24Speaker 1: You're back on tour? Are you back on tour now?
- 23:25Speaker 9: Georgia?
- 23:26Speaker 1: And you're and what's next for You're still looking at
- 23:28Speaker 1: more shows, You're still looking at more movies or what you.
- 23:31Speaker 5: Don't know about?
- 23:32Speaker 2: You know, you know, I have podcasts, just like a
- 23:34Speaker 2: smaller one. So I think we're looking at one legitimately,
- 23:38Speaker 2: like larger in scale, you know, with an executive producer
- 23:41Speaker 2: and and everything, because they become almost they're shows now,
- 23:46Speaker 2: they're not even podcasts anymore. They're larger than shows. You know,
- 23:50Speaker 2: they tour with podcasts and stuff like that. So I
- 23:52Speaker 2: think maybe maybe less road and maybe if that thing
- 23:56Speaker 2: works out, which everybody you know has done so many things,
- 23:59Speaker 2: I would say, you know, you get an opportunity that
- 24:02Speaker 2: that might be a mixture of both of them, because
- 24:04Speaker 2: you know, I like to be home a little bit more.
- 24:05Speaker 2: I think making Field in the Fox always been one
- 24:08Speaker 2: of my favorite places. But I mean, you know, as
- 24:10Speaker 2: you're as you're older, man, you're out here.
- 24:13Speaker 1: Yeah, I think. I think the last time you were
- 24:14Speaker 1: at the Fox, I actually was walking in and you
- 24:17Speaker 1: were just standing on the sidewalk. You're just standing right
- 24:20Speaker 1: out front of the Foxes. I don't know, he's just
- 24:22Speaker 1: hanging out.
- 24:23Speaker 2: I think, I remember, what are you doing? It's funny
- 24:27Speaker 2: because you know, you never you never think that anybody
- 24:30Speaker 2: would recognize you man and and beg In the beginning,
- 24:33Speaker 2: I went to Chicago was really cool to me. So
- 24:35Speaker 2: I went over there for this lady the general manager
- 24:37Speaker 2: because I called all the general managers the summer before
- 24:40Speaker 2: my show went on, because I heard that Drew Carrey
- 24:42Speaker 2: did it, and you know, it helped him. You make
- 24:44Speaker 2: a relationship with all the general men. And I sat
- 24:46Speaker 2: there and called all the general matters. So when I
- 24:48Speaker 2: was in Chicago, you know, I look up and there's
- 24:50Speaker 2: an Indian family, you know, for India, you know, the
- 24:54Speaker 2: husband and a wife and a son and daughter. And
- 24:56Speaker 2: I see him on the movie Escalator and then I'm
- 24:58Speaker 2: kind of looking down. It's early sudden in the morning,
- 25:00Speaker 2: and I see their feet, you know, and I look
- 25:04Speaker 2: up and the and the husband says, my.
- 25:07Speaker 8: Son said that you're you are the man.
- 25:09Speaker 2: And I said, I said, I'm one of them. I'm
- 25:12Speaker 2: one of them.
- 25:12Speaker 8: And he's like, oh, that you have a television.
- 25:15Speaker 2: I said, yeah, I said I do. I do, because yeah,
- 25:18Speaker 2: he saw he said, we took a picture of my family.
- 25:20Speaker 2: And I was like, wow, man, I mean that's like
- 25:22Speaker 2: that was in the beginning. That was the beginning of
- 25:24Speaker 2: the beginning.
- 25:25Speaker 1: Yeah, you've You've always been very accessible though. I think
- 25:28Speaker 1: over the years you've always been very accessible to the
- 25:30Speaker 1: fans and been around we know.
- 25:33Speaker 2: I think the thing you know, I think and you
- 25:35Speaker 2: know this because you know, there's a personality for radio,
- 25:39Speaker 2: there's there's things, you know, and and the fact that
- 25:41Speaker 2: everything I've done has my name. I think people think
- 25:45Speaker 2: that when I do something like, that's who I am,
- 25:47Speaker 2: but it's not. It's not.
- 25:49Speaker 8: It's like an actor goes, oh, man, that guy, that
- 25:52Speaker 8: guy's means to his mom.
- 25:53Speaker 2: It's like, no, no, no, it's not.
- 25:55Speaker 1: It's not being well, that's incredible. Well, George Lopez, I'm
- 25:59Speaker 1: so glad you spent time with that's this morning. We
- 26:01Speaker 1: can't wait to see you May sixteenth. He's gonna be
- 26:04Speaker 1: over at the Fox Theater. Make sure you guys get
- 26:06Speaker 1: your tickets now. You don't want to miss out. I'd ask,
- 26:09Speaker 1: what's new, George, but I'm guessing whatever you're gonna bring
- 26:13Speaker 1: is gonna be funny no matter what.
- 26:14Speaker 2: So it's great. It's really great to happen out there
- 26:16Speaker 2: working on it. You know, actually a considering maybe even
- 26:18Speaker 2: potentially looking at like a one man show. So this
- 26:21Speaker 2: is a little more personal, but it's still got some
- 26:23Speaker 2: it's still got some bang. Jes you don't know.
- 26:25Speaker 1: That's great. Thanks for spending time with us this morning.
- 26:27Speaker 1: George George. Was he at the Fox Theater on the sixteenth.
- 26:30Speaker 1: That's a Saturday. Thanks George, again, I really appreciate appreciate it.
- 26:35Speaker 1: How was that the ball game? The Dodgers? The Dodger
- 26:39Speaker 1: game and the what is the deal with these foul balls?
- 26:43Speaker 1: What is the deal with home runs and foul balls
- 26:46Speaker 1: when they go into the stands. My understanding was it
- 26:50Speaker 1: was just a free for all. You know, you're not
- 26:53Speaker 1: supposed to knock over a little kid or an old
- 26:57Speaker 1: lady to get the ball. But is everything else spare game?
- 27:02Speaker 1: When I was a kid, everything was spare game at
- 27:05Speaker 1: the ball game? Okay, I don't know what it is now, Well,
- 27:09Speaker 1: what's the rules?
- 27:10Speaker 2: You know?
- 27:11Speaker 1: I mean, you know you would you would be sitting
- 27:14Speaker 1: there at the game the other night I was at.
- 27:17Speaker 1: You would be sitting there and a ball would fly
- 27:20Speaker 1: right at your face, and if somebody stuck their hand
- 27:24Speaker 1: up and grabbed it before you did, that was their
- 27:28Speaker 1: ball and there was nothing wrong with it. There was
- 27:31Speaker 1: no problem. They didn't do anything wrong. Or if a
- 27:34Speaker 1: guy stuck a glove up or a girl stuck a
- 27:36Speaker 1: glove up and normal, but normally what would happen is this,
- 27:40Speaker 1: here's the other thing that would happen the ball. Okay,
- 27:43Speaker 1: so just an example, right, a kid sitting there, ball's
- 27:48Speaker 1: coming straight at his face. Guy stops it, you know,
- 27:51Speaker 1: a girl stops whoever, pick whoever stops it and catches
- 27:54Speaker 1: it right. Normally, whether they were the kid's mom or
- 27:58Speaker 1: dad or not, they would give the kid the ball.
- 28:00Speaker 1: That's normally that was kind of how it worked. Okay.
- 28:03Speaker 1: Kids were the ones that always were the more important
- 28:07Speaker 1: factor at the ballgame. Now it seems like you got
- 28:11Speaker 1: these dumb ass human adults, men and women who were
- 28:15Speaker 1: either just so damn selfish or so damn something that
- 28:19Speaker 1: they gotta have. It's a freaking baseball unless though Tani
- 28:23Speaker 1: just hit it out to win the World Series. Okay,
- 28:26Speaker 1: I get it. Now we got more complications for these
- 28:29Speaker 1: for these balls that actually mean something, uh, in the
- 28:33Speaker 1: sports industry, in the in the in the in the
- 28:35Speaker 1: sports memorabilial world. Now that does change this idea of
- 28:40Speaker 1: things happening but just a ridiculous foul ball. The way
- 28:45Speaker 1: that these people fight over them, it's kind of silly.
- 28:52Speaker 1: But on top of that, it's not. But it's not
- 28:54Speaker 1: even to me growing up, it wasn't even fighting over it.
- 28:58Speaker 1: You were just whoever got a first It was a
- 29:00Speaker 1: mad dash for the ball. Whoever got it got it.
- 29:04Speaker 1: I mean, as long as you weren't elbowing and punching
- 29:07Speaker 1: somebody to get a ball. It was whoever got it
- 29:10Speaker 1: got it. I mean, have the rules changed?
- 29:16Speaker 2: I don't.
- 29:17Speaker 1: I don't understand it. What do you what's going on here?
- 29:20Speaker 1: I mean, you guys are baseball fans. You guys go
- 29:22Speaker 1: to a lot of Dodger games. You guys go to
- 29:24Speaker 1: a lot of ball games. You know, what do you
- 29:26Speaker 1: do when a ball come to me? It was when
- 29:29Speaker 1: it used to be back in the day. Actually, when
- 29:31Speaker 1: I was a kid went to more baseball games. It
- 29:34Speaker 1: was more of self preservation, the ball coming straight at you.
- 29:38Speaker 1: Now it's a trophy, I guess, a meaningless trophy for
- 29:43Speaker 1: the most part, unless you, like I said, unless you
- 29:44Speaker 1: catch Otani's you know, home run breaking ball that's worth
- 29:49Speaker 1: a million dollars or something silly like that. But I
- 29:53Speaker 1: don't get it. I don't. I don't. I don't get
- 29:56Speaker 1: what I guess. I just don't get the rules today
- 30:00Speaker 1: when it comes to a ball out of play at
- 30:03Speaker 1: a baseball game, I don't get the rules. I mean,
- 30:06Speaker 1: what are you supposed to do? Everybody gets mad if
- 30:09Speaker 1: I catch a ball. If a ball is coming at
- 30:12Speaker 1: you and I stick my hand out and grab it,
- 30:14Speaker 1: you're the bad guy. I'm the bad guy because you
- 30:17Speaker 1: didn't stick your hand out to grab it faster than me.
- 30:21Speaker 1: I don't get that, because that's I always thought it
- 30:25Speaker 1: was fair play. Once the ball and don't let the
- 30:27Speaker 1: ball hit the bleachers, then it's everybody is It's a
- 30:31Speaker 1: man's mad dash on the ground, right, It's like when
- 30:34Speaker 1: it pinalla breaks. Hey, it's all fair game. At least
- 30:38Speaker 1: that's what I thought. Did you see all these people
- 30:40Speaker 1: crying on social media or crying on the internet, Oh
- 30:43Speaker 1: my god, they took my felt ball? Oh did they really?
- 30:47Speaker 1: Or were you just not quick enough to get it?
- 30:49Speaker 1: I mean, what are the rules? P? Four two five
- 30:52Speaker 1: four seven is seven? So when it comes to the
- 30:54Speaker 1: baseball games, or that whenever they're throwing stuff into the crowd,
- 30:57Speaker 1: what are the rules? Man? It seems like everybody if
- 31:00Speaker 1: they don't get one or if somebody gets it before them.
- 31:02Speaker 1: But I always thought it was a free for all.
- 31:04Speaker 1: I mean, outside of shoving a little kid or an
- 31:06Speaker 1: old lady. You know, I thought it was always a
- 31:09Speaker 1: free for all. But I was at the Dodger game.
- 31:12Speaker 1: I was at the Dodger game, and yeah, they were fighting.
- 31:15Speaker 1: They were even mad at each other, yelling at each other,
- 31:19Speaker 1: although it was the Dodger game already four two or
- 31:22Speaker 1: seven seven row. I feel like it's the first one
- 31:25Speaker 1: to get it. Unless it's with a kid, then the
- 31:28Speaker 1: kid deserves that ball. I've thrown them back. May mean nothing, Yeah,
- 31:33Speaker 1: they really do. Foul balls mean nothing. I mean maybe
- 31:35Speaker 1: if you catch that one, you know, one home run
- 31:38Speaker 1: ball that sets the record for home runs or wins
- 31:41Speaker 1: a World Series or something to that effect, that has
- 31:44Speaker 1: some memorabilia status. I get that, I guess, but I
- 31:50Speaker 1: just they're stupid. I mean, they're ridiculous. It's just a baseball.
- 31:57Speaker 2: So but what the rules?
- 32:01Speaker 1: I mean, if you catch it, I mean, here's the question.
- 32:05Speaker 1: If it's about to hit somebody in the face because
- 32:07Speaker 1: they don't have the reflexes to stop it or move
- 32:10Speaker 1: or they don't see it, then you've done a good deed, right.
- 32:14Speaker 1: But if everybody's going for it and you reach your
- 32:17Speaker 1: hand out and their hand they don't reach out at
- 32:20Speaker 1: all for it, it's supposed to be theirs. I don't
- 32:25Speaker 1: know what the rules are. I really don't, and I
- 32:28Speaker 1: think it's funny when I see people arguing about it,
- 32:31Speaker 1: or when I see people, you know, yelling at somebody
- 32:35Speaker 1: else because well, maybe you should have been quicker. Isn't
- 32:38Speaker 1: that the game you throw a T shirt in the crowd?
- 32:42Speaker 1: Or when the thing drops the ticket from the what
- 32:49Speaker 1: is the thing? I think the condors have something that
- 32:51Speaker 1: drops the ticket. If they still do that, I don't
- 32:52Speaker 1: know if they do that anymore. Blimp flies around the
- 32:55Speaker 1: arena and drops a ticket, isn't it whoever grabs it first?
- 33:00Speaker 1: In any situation? I mean, unless you're physically harming somebody,
- 33:05Speaker 1: I don't understand. So if I put my hand in
- 33:07Speaker 1: front of yours and you don't put your hand out
- 33:10Speaker 1: at all, that's wrong already? Four two to five, four
- 33:14Speaker 1: or seven to seven? What are the rules? What are
- 33:16Speaker 1: the rules when it comes to that? Hey, Romeo, I
- 33:18Speaker 1: got to tell you this one. I took the wife
- 33:21Speaker 1: and kids out to a Dodger game one time, and
- 33:24Speaker 1: we were paying attention. A ball came right at one
- 33:29Speaker 1: of my kids, and I was talking to my wife
- 33:32Speaker 1: over here looking the other way, and luckily the guy
- 33:36Speaker 1: behind me or behind my kid reached his hand over
- 33:41Speaker 1: grabbed the ball. My kid would have got straight clocked
- 33:45Speaker 1: had this guy not been trying to go for that ball.
- 33:47Speaker 1: So I think that anyone who can get the ball first,
- 33:51Speaker 1: especially if you're gonna catch it, deserves it. The great
- 33:55Speaker 1: thing about the guy was he gave the ball to
- 33:57Speaker 1: my son, So I guess it really worked out out
- 34:00Speaker 1: for everybody. But yeah, that's what I'm saying. Usually when
- 34:02Speaker 1: it comes to kids, right, you guys are so worried
- 34:04Speaker 1: about a ball As an adult. I mean, what kind
- 34:07Speaker 1: of selfish, pathetic adult do you got to be that
- 34:10Speaker 1: you got to get this foul ball at a baseball game?
- 34:14Speaker 1: And that's what that's just your pathetic Give it to
- 34:19Speaker 1: the kid, you know. I mean, that was good that
- 34:21Speaker 1: he gave it to the kid. But I agree with you.
- 34:23Speaker 1: I would just think whoever can catch the ball first,
- 34:26Speaker 1: gets the ball regardless. I mean, as long as you're
- 34:29Speaker 1: not shoving somebody aside to grab it, right. I don't know,
- 34:33Speaker 1: it just seems like it just seems like there's too
- 34:36Speaker 1: much controversy over a foul ball in baseball nowadays, and
- 34:40Speaker 1: people are fighting about it online at the stands. Well,
- 34:44Speaker 1: it was the Giants and the Dodgers, so people are
- 34:46Speaker 1: fighting in the stands now. Anyways, Hey, Romeo, one time
- 34:49Speaker 1: at a Dodger game. What happened one time at a
- 34:52Speaker 1: Dodger game. One time at a Dodger game, my younger
- 34:55Speaker 1: brother was going for a foul ball and this woman
- 34:58Speaker 1: side checked him. He went is hat and sunglasses went
- 35:01Speaker 1: another way and knocked him to the ground. Mind you,
- 35:04Speaker 1: my younger brother was an adult in his twenties. She
- 35:07Speaker 1: got the ball, all right, but she also realized what
- 35:09Speaker 1: she did as she turned around and apologized to my brother.
- 35:13Speaker 1: Bottom of beer and bottom of beer. She really wanted
- 35:17Speaker 1: the ball though. I mean, that was nice of her
- 35:19Speaker 1: to at least, you know, buy him the beer. I
- 35:22Speaker 1: mean that was something that was something. Michael Bean is
- 35:26Speaker 1: here from the Marriage and Family Center.
- 35:27Speaker 5: Good morning, Michael, Well, good morning.
- 35:30Speaker 1: Are you I am great? How are you doing?
- 35:33Speaker 2: Oh?
- 35:33Speaker 5: I'm doing okay?
- 35:34Speaker 2: Thanks?
- 35:34Speaker 5: All right?
- 35:35Speaker 1: We got Marriage Family Center six six three two seven,
- 35:39Speaker 1: five to one. That zero zero is the number. Michael.
- 35:43Speaker 1: I don't even know what to jump into this morning.
- 35:45Speaker 1: I know I was supposed to. I always tell Michael
- 35:47Speaker 1: Ivan to write something down and then I get caught
- 35:50Speaker 1: up over the week talking about all this nonsense with
- 35:53Speaker 1: all you people about different relationship problems that you have,
- 35:57Speaker 1: and then I forget what I wanted to talk to
- 35:59Speaker 1: Michael about. And I always I always do Michael. Unlet's
- 36:05Speaker 1: just break down relationships real quick. I mean, just the
- 36:07Speaker 1: idea that.
- 36:10Speaker 4: We're not.
- 36:10Speaker 1: We don't seem to be fixing our problems. I mean,
- 36:13Speaker 1: we seem to be having the same issues in our
- 36:15Speaker 1: relationships for decades. It doesn't seem like one thing has
- 36:20Speaker 1: anything really ever gotten solved completely to where we go, Okay,
- 36:24Speaker 1: we finally fixed one thing in relationships, and now we
- 36:27Speaker 1: can move on to the other things that we have.
- 36:32Speaker 2: No.
- 36:33Speaker 5: We watch, uh, we watch communication technology and information technology
- 36:38Speaker 5: and transportation technology.
- 36:40Speaker 8: The stupid steep.
- 36:42Speaker 5: Curves as it builds on itself. Yeah, and then we
- 36:44Speaker 5: see this flat line of relationship technology. We're just and
- 36:50Speaker 5: it surprises us. You know, as individuals, we get surprised
- 36:53Speaker 5: us as much every time. But man, I was so
- 36:55Speaker 5: attracted to this person and now we can't stand each other.
- 36:59Speaker 2: What is that? You know?
- 37:01Speaker 1: It's funny that you say that because you remember before
- 37:04Speaker 1: before the internet, before cell phones, when people would get
- 37:09Speaker 1: up in the morning and go to work. Honey, I'll
- 37:11Speaker 1: see you at four or five or whatever. They wouldn't
- 37:13Speaker 1: talk to each other all day. There was no there
- 37:15Speaker 1: was no easy access. I mean, but you might make
- 37:18Speaker 1: a phone call from your office to her office or
- 37:21Speaker 1: his whatever, or sometimes they're just too busy. And we
- 37:25Speaker 1: all thought that, oh my gosh, if we just had
- 37:28Speaker 1: more time with each other to communicate, we would be
- 37:31Speaker 1: better off. And now we cannot go a second without
- 37:36Speaker 1: communicating with somebody if we want to. And it hasn't
- 37:40Speaker 1: really made anything better.
- 37:43Speaker 5: You're absolutely right, and it hasn't helped anything and everything
- 37:49Speaker 5: we kind of think is going to kind of it doesn't. Yeah,
- 37:52Speaker 5: but yeah, it's just somehow when we have that really
- 37:57Speaker 5: strong attachment in the beginning of relationships, we kind of
- 38:00Speaker 5: we're on our best behavior, We're doing our very best
- 38:03Speaker 5: to the other person. We're still kind of trying to
- 38:05Speaker 5: prove to them that we like them and that we
- 38:07Speaker 5: should be like the back, you know, that we're worthy
- 38:10Speaker 5: of their flow, and so we just we do we
- 38:14Speaker 5: kind of just and then and then when that initial
- 38:18Speaker 5: attraction starts to kind of fade, which it always does,
- 38:20Speaker 5: you know, that honeymoon period starts to kind of our
- 38:23Speaker 5: horror moon start to kind of level out a little bit,
- 38:25Speaker 5: and then we start kind of taking them for granted
- 38:28Speaker 5: a little bit. And it's really sad. Couples that kind
- 38:32Speaker 5: of maintain that sort of just mistique and thinking about
- 38:36Speaker 5: each other for more than a couple of years a
- 38:40Speaker 5: pretty rare that you can see it sometimes, but it's
- 38:43Speaker 5: pretty rare.
- 38:44Speaker 1: Let me ask you this, Michael, And now you said
- 38:46Speaker 1: something very interesting. Once every once the newness kind of
- 38:51Speaker 1: wears off, we kind of get complacent, or we kind
- 38:53Speaker 1: of take for granted we do human beings.
- 38:57Speaker 4: Just do we do?
- 38:57Speaker 1: I was trying to think of every as fast as
- 39:00Speaker 1: I can, of all factors of my life. Do we
- 39:04Speaker 1: take everything for granted? Is that just human nature for us,
- 39:07Speaker 1: no matter what?
- 39:08Speaker 2: Not?
- 39:08Speaker 1: Just a person? Do we take our jobs for granted?
- 39:11Speaker 1: Do we take our friends for granted? We don't take
- 39:13Speaker 1: our friends for granted in the same way for some
- 39:15Speaker 1: reason that we take our spouse for granted or our partner.
- 39:20Speaker 1: That seems a little odd or in my miss am
- 39:22Speaker 1: I wrong about that?
- 39:23Speaker 2: Michael?
- 39:25Speaker 5: Well? I mean, we do end up treating our prisons
- 39:29Speaker 5: better than our partners sometimes, which is kind of blows
- 39:33Speaker 5: my mind a little bit. But when you sort of
- 39:36Speaker 5: think about this expectation that your partner's going to just
- 39:41Speaker 5: be there, you have this kind of arrangement. Okay, well
- 39:44Speaker 5: we're sharing a house. It's not like they're going anywhere,
- 39:47Speaker 5: and there's almost a I don't have to be nice, yeah,
- 39:53Speaker 5: because they're gonna I know that makes us sound terrible,
- 39:57Speaker 5: but I just think, yeah, sometimes we we just sometimes
- 40:01Speaker 5: feel but we get entitled. But you're right about the other.
- 40:06Speaker 2: You get it.
- 40:07Speaker 5: You get a new car, and you know, for the
- 40:09Speaker 5: first while, it's just like, man, I'm gonna wash this
- 40:11Speaker 5: car every other day, and you know I'm gonna then
- 40:16Speaker 5: sure enough, here you are six months later, and well,
- 40:19Speaker 5: not everything every day. I watch your current week. What
- 40:25Speaker 5: are you talking about that every day?
- 40:26Speaker 2: You know? And that's just yeah, we do. We do.
- 40:29Speaker 5: We get used to what was once just really cool
- 40:32Speaker 5: and precious and neat to us, and it just becomes
- 40:35Speaker 5: ordinary over time.
- 40:36Speaker 1: All right, Michael, I want you to think about this.
- 40:38Speaker 1: I gotta play a song, but I want you to
- 40:40Speaker 1: think about this. The idea that if we didn't take
- 40:43Speaker 1: our partner for granted, if we actually spent more time
- 40:50Speaker 1: being involved in our relationships, how much happier we'd be
- 40:55Speaker 1: as human beings. I want you to think about that
- 40:57Speaker 1: for a second. Michael Bean is here for the Marriaging
- 40:59Speaker 1: Family Center. Good morning, Michael, Good morning, Marriage a Family
- 41:03Speaker 1: Center six six, one three two seven of fifty one hundred. Now, Michael,
- 41:07Speaker 1: I want to ask you about this, and I know
- 41:09Speaker 1: it's going to sound like a crazy idea, but extending
- 41:13Speaker 1: the honeymoon phase into or a version of the honeymoon
- 41:18Speaker 1: phase into the rest of our lives and actually being
- 41:21Speaker 1: in a relationship where you can get to do you
- 41:24Speaker 1: get what you want, they get what they want, and
- 41:28Speaker 1: everybody seems to be happy, and you're not really coming
- 41:31Speaker 1: home to a negative house. That just seems like a
- 41:35Speaker 1: crazy idea. Huh.
- 41:39Speaker 5: Well, I've seen people extend the honeymoon period for sure,
- 41:44Speaker 5: and then there's something that can approach what you're talking
- 41:47Speaker 5: about that we should discuss extending it. I just watched people.
- 41:52Speaker 5: They'll go, oh, you know what, Look, we're starting to
- 41:55Speaker 5: kind of like mitpick each other. It's starting to get
- 41:57Speaker 5: kind of negative a little bit. Let's not do that
- 42:00Speaker 5: the way things were just you know, a couple of
- 42:01Speaker 5: weeks ago.
- 42:02Speaker 2: Let's let's get back.
- 42:03Speaker 5: To that than they do, and they're able to kind
- 42:06Speaker 5: of sustain that and keep it going. Sometimes we're up
- 42:09Speaker 5: to another year and you don't think about that. Just
- 42:12Speaker 5: having that new love closeness for a whole extra year
- 42:17Speaker 5: of your life, that's just awesome. So I highly recommend
- 42:20Speaker 5: that I have, you know, help people and counsel people
- 42:25Speaker 5: and coach people to get to there. But the thing
- 42:29Speaker 5: that kind of gets close to what you're talking about
- 42:31Speaker 5: is is rekindling it periodically. So yes, you know, we
- 42:37Speaker 5: have been together a long time, we know each other's
- 42:39Speaker 5: strengths and weaknesses, and we we you know, it's just
- 42:43Speaker 5: that a lot of that newness is gone. But let's
- 42:47Speaker 5: go on a weird vacation just the two of us.
- 42:50Speaker 5: That is going to kind of help us sort of
- 42:53Speaker 5: just rediscover some of that because we're going to go
- 42:55Speaker 5: do this thing together that we kind of haven't done,
- 42:59Speaker 5: and we'll kind of remember what it was like when
- 43:02Speaker 5: we were just back there, and you can you can
- 43:05Speaker 5: go revisit that and have those moments.
- 43:07Speaker 1: Well let me, now, let me take it a step
- 43:09Speaker 1: further and say, when we start relationships have moved on. Now,
- 43:14Speaker 1: we have kids, now we got jobs, now we've got
- 43:17Speaker 1: responsibilities and accountabilities to things, and maybe the time we
- 43:21Speaker 1: have together is a little bit different. Maybe we got
- 43:23Speaker 1: a you know, maybe we're not happy in certain aspects
- 43:26Speaker 1: of our life. And now we start nitpicking, we start
- 43:30Speaker 1: taking it out, we start not wanting to. I mean,
- 43:33Speaker 1: there is something as stupid as you know, going and
- 43:36Speaker 1: running errands together, going to the grocery store, you know,
- 43:39Speaker 1: doing maybe doing the chores together. I mean, these are
- 43:42Speaker 1: things that all have to get done anyways, but at
- 43:45Speaker 1: some point, you whoever it is, goes no, I'm too
- 43:48Speaker 1: tired from work, I don't want to do it. And
- 43:50Speaker 1: those things compile into a well, he doesn't love me,
- 43:54Speaker 1: she doesn't love me, there's no respect. He keeps leaving
- 43:57Speaker 1: his shoes on the floor, and that I keep telling
- 44:00Speaker 1: them not to, and now we're we're in this run
- 44:03Speaker 1: of nitpicking or arguing or getting you know, not really
- 44:07Speaker 1: thinking that the one cares about this. To me, those
- 44:10Speaker 1: are all very little things that can add up to
- 44:13Speaker 1: a bigger issue. And I don't know why it is
- 44:17Speaker 1: so difficult for us to go you know what, I'm tired,
- 44:20Speaker 1: I had a hard day, but damn it, we're just
- 44:22Speaker 1: going to go to the store for twenty minutes or
- 44:24Speaker 1: a half hour to get groceries. I just suck it
- 44:26Speaker 1: up for the betterment of the relationship for both parties.
- 44:31Speaker 5: That is a really good idea. It really is say
- 44:35Speaker 5: yes to your partner. If your partner said yes, you
- 44:37Speaker 5: do something together unless you have because that's what you
- 44:40Speaker 5: would do with a friend. If a friend asked you
- 44:42Speaker 5: over to go play cards or something, yeah, you'd make
- 44:45Speaker 5: sure you have a really good reason before you tell
- 44:48Speaker 5: told them no, because you want to keep a friendship.
- 44:50Speaker 5: So you know, hey, you know I got to go
- 44:53Speaker 5: with my wife to go to this shower thing and
- 44:55Speaker 5: I'm sure sorry, I'd love to come. Boy cards, I
- 44:57Speaker 5: can't do it. If you don't have that thing that
- 45:00Speaker 5: you have to go, do you gotta go play cards? Well,
- 45:02Speaker 5: same thing in your relationship. Yes, they'll do it without you,
- 45:07Speaker 5: but don't make them. Just don't make them do it
- 45:09Speaker 5: if they invited you because they wanted you to go alone,
- 45:12Speaker 5: to say yes and the absolutely.
- 45:14Speaker 1: But that's something I think that could those little things
- 45:20Speaker 1: can add up to make a better relationship. Right and
- 45:22Speaker 1: then when you when you look at some of that
- 45:25Speaker 1: and then then the time you don't you go, oh
- 45:28Speaker 1: my god, I just I can't. Today's the day I
- 45:30Speaker 1: can't do it. Well, yeah, you said yes the other
- 45:33Speaker 1: ninety five times, so I'm gonna yeah, I get it.
- 45:36Speaker 1: This is the one time you can't.
- 45:38Speaker 5: So I just I don't know.
- 45:39Speaker 1: I don't understand why what people miss in that, Why
- 45:45Speaker 1: people miss that, because sometimes the little things are more
- 45:48Speaker 1: important than the bigger things. The everyday things seem to
- 45:50Speaker 1: be more important than the bigger things. Are the ones
- 45:54Speaker 1: the you know, the date night every night, Well, you
- 45:57Speaker 1: went out date night every week, so we can keep
- 45:59Speaker 1: it fresh, or you can do little things every single
- 46:02Speaker 1: day that keep keep you let him or her know
- 46:06Speaker 1: how much, how interested and how much you still care.
- 46:09Speaker 5: And what you just described is exactly the answer to
- 46:13Speaker 5: you know, what happened to us? How did we drift apart? Uh?
- 46:16Speaker 5: You missed that, you missed that thing that you just
- 46:18Speaker 5: talked about where it's just kind of like I'm not
- 46:20Speaker 5: really feeling it. You go ahead and you go, yeah, okay, yeah,
- 46:24Speaker 5: you know, I'll do that, and then you do it again,
- 46:26Speaker 5: and it starts to become normal that you're just not
- 46:28Speaker 5: yea things together.
- 46:29Speaker 1: Yeah, and then we get where we get. I just
- 46:32Speaker 1: don't understand how. I guess I understand how we get there.
- 46:35Speaker 1: I don't know, Michael. The people are stupid. I don't
- 46:38Speaker 1: get it. I don't get it. All right, Michael Being
- 46:40Speaker 1: is here for Family Center. Michael Being is here for
- 46:44Speaker 1: the Marriage and Family Center. Good morning, Michael, Good morning.
- 46:47Speaker 1: All right, So we're what does it?
- 46:49Speaker 2: Six?
- 46:50Speaker 1: Six, one three two seven fifty one hundred is Michael's number?
- 46:53Speaker 1: Follow the prompts when you go through it. What were
- 46:56Speaker 1: we just talking?
- 46:57Speaker 10: Oh?
- 46:57Speaker 2: I know what.
- 46:57Speaker 1: I was just gonna ask you, Michael, about the complacency entitlement?
- 47:03Speaker 1: How we get there? This idea that all you know,
- 47:07Speaker 1: if you just keep doing some of the little things
- 47:10Speaker 1: that your partner wants, you may get more out of
- 47:12Speaker 1: the relationship like you want. And is it just human nature?
- 47:17Speaker 1: Who do we blame Michael for? And I'll use the
- 47:20Speaker 1: example that we were talking about out there, the sex.
- 47:23Speaker 1: We're having sex every day? Now I have to beg
- 47:26Speaker 1: for sex? I mean, is that the person's fault who's
- 47:30Speaker 1: begging of the person who's not wanted? How do we
- 47:32Speaker 1: get to that point? How do we get to that
- 47:34Speaker 1: point in any situation?
- 47:37Speaker 5: Yeah? Yeah, yeah, you did you kind of want We'll
- 47:40Speaker 5: wait a minute. If if you're the one that's wanting
- 47:43Speaker 5: it and you're not kind of getting it, isn't it
- 47:45Speaker 5: your fault somehow not showing up to the relationship, maybe
- 47:50Speaker 5: the way you're used to it, whatever. And honestly, if
- 47:52Speaker 5: you are that person, there may be some sort of
- 47:56Speaker 5: attitude shifts you can make about uh, you know what
- 48:01Speaker 5: you attribute that to to make it better. But really,
- 48:05Speaker 5: if you're going to solve that as a couple, if
- 48:07Speaker 5: you're going to actually put your two heads together and go, okay,
- 48:09Speaker 5: wait a minute, this is a problem for you, So
- 48:11Speaker 5: it's a problem in our relationship, so let's uh, let's
- 48:14Speaker 5: go to work on it. You've got to get away
- 48:16Speaker 5: from the whole blame thing. And in fact, I don't
- 48:19Speaker 5: think it's anybody's fault really. I think it's something that
- 48:22Speaker 5: happened to the relationship where that passion kind of went to,
- 48:28Speaker 5: you know, down, and then the couple didn't sort of
- 48:30Speaker 5: figure out how to deal with that fault. I don't
- 48:34Speaker 5: know if that's going to be really helpful. But how
- 48:37Speaker 5: about what just what happened.
- 48:39Speaker 1: How we got there? Michael, you do most people? I mean,
- 48:46Speaker 1: I'm just going to be a crazy question to ask you,
- 48:49Speaker 1: But do most couples know what their partner wants? Like
- 48:56Speaker 1: I Like on Valentine's Day, the chilly store tells me,
- 48:59Speaker 1: I gotta go get our a diamond ring, and a
- 49:01Speaker 1: flower company tells me, I go get our flowers, or
- 49:04Speaker 1: I got to get him a drill, or I got
- 49:06Speaker 1: to get him a gift. Or do we even know
- 49:09Speaker 1: what our partners want, really want, what really makes them?
- 49:16Speaker 2: We do, and.
- 49:19Speaker 5: Sometimes we don't feel like we don't feel like we
- 49:25Speaker 5: need to give them what they want what they want.
- 49:31Speaker 5: I mean, we can't give them everything they want, of
- 49:34Speaker 5: course not. And so therefore that word want is already loaded.
- 49:40Speaker 5: It's like I know they want this thing, but you
- 49:43Speaker 5: know I want a million dollars. So you know, okay,
- 49:50Speaker 5: what is that expression they used to say? How does
- 49:53Speaker 5: it feel to want?
- 49:54Speaker 9: Yeah?
- 49:55Speaker 5: Okay, but I want this thing.
- 49:58Speaker 1: I'm talking about things that out of our relationship. You know,
- 50:00Speaker 1: you go into a relationship, you know all I all
- 50:03Speaker 1: I really want is you know a wife who will
- 50:08Speaker 1: you know, go play play cards with me. Let's just
- 50:11Speaker 1: play Luno with me once a week, okay? And if
- 50:15Speaker 1: your wife says, well no, I'm not gonna do that
- 50:17Speaker 1: because I think it's stupid. Well, all I really want
- 50:19Speaker 1: is a husband who's gonna, you know, spend a little
- 50:22Speaker 1: time with me when I go run some errands, be
- 50:24Speaker 1: there with me in the car to talk, hold my
- 50:26Speaker 1: purse when i'm when I'm trying something on. And I
- 50:29Speaker 1: know those are way antiquated stereotypes, but the idea that
- 50:33Speaker 1: if that's what they really want as opposed well, I'm
- 50:36Speaker 1: gonna go buy her a new handbag so that she
- 50:38Speaker 1: feels better about me, and she's going, well, that's not
- 50:41Speaker 1: what I really want. I really wanted you just to
- 50:44Speaker 1: do this for me. I really wanted you to just
- 50:47Speaker 1: spend a little time with me. Or I really just
- 50:49Speaker 1: want to you know, I want to watch the game.
- 50:52Speaker 1: I'm a big sportsman, so really I just want to
- 50:54Speaker 1: watch this game. You can have every other, every other
- 50:57Speaker 1: hour out of me to do whatever it is. I
- 51:00Speaker 1: want this three hours to watch the Dodgers play, or
- 51:02Speaker 1: whatever the case may be. So when you look at
- 51:05Speaker 1: things like that, that's why I asked that question. Do
- 51:07Speaker 1: we really know what people want that's really gonna make
- 51:10Speaker 1: them feel good about who they're with.
- 51:14Speaker 5: I mean, sometimes sometimes we do. Other times they'll tell
- 51:18Speaker 5: us directly, and we kind of like hear the words
- 51:23Speaker 5: and we know what each of the words mean, but
- 51:27Speaker 5: it sort of doesn't kind of make sense to it.
- 51:30Speaker 5: Why would that be so important? I don't I hear
- 51:32Speaker 5: what you're saying to me, but I just kind of
- 51:35Speaker 5: don't understand how that's so important to you. And then
- 51:39Speaker 5: you go to a therapist and then the therapist says
- 51:43Speaker 5: it and you're like, oh, yeah, that's what she's been
- 51:47Speaker 5: telling me. They're telling me all this time. But when
- 51:50Speaker 5: you hear it from another person, all of a sudden,
- 51:52Speaker 5: it kind of like clicks. It's just like, oh, I
- 51:55Speaker 5: needed it from a different perspective. When she tells it
- 51:58Speaker 5: to me, I kind of have to disco my head.
- 52:00Speaker 5: But when you say it, I kind of go, yeah,
- 52:03Speaker 5: that is really what she's really been wanting. And then
- 52:06Speaker 5: she's standing there kind of just going, I've been saying that.
- 52:10Speaker 1: Now I got to go back to humans are are humans?
- 52:14Speaker 2: Just?
- 52:14Speaker 1: Are we selfish? By nature? Because you could sit there
- 52:18Speaker 1: and go, she can tell you what she wants from you,
- 52:22Speaker 1: and you go, nah, she don't really want that. This
- 52:23Speaker 1: is what she wants because society told me this is
- 52:26Speaker 1: what women want, and you're going. So that's why I
- 52:29Speaker 1: asked the question. I just I think that happens a lot.
- 52:33Speaker 1: I just I do in relationships.
- 52:37Speaker 5: Well, I mean we are selfish, we're also generous. So
- 52:40Speaker 5: that doesn't really answer that question, you know, it doesn't
- 52:43Speaker 5: really Just saying that we're selfish kind of doesn't need it.
- 52:46Speaker 5: But but yeah, it is, for some really weird reason
- 52:50Speaker 5: easy for us to hear the words and kind of
- 52:52Speaker 5: dismiss them, even though that other person just speaking right
- 52:55Speaker 5: from their heart and gotcha. Of course, that other person
- 52:58Speaker 5: doesn't feel very loved when that happened.
- 53:00Speaker 1: So Michael being is here for the Marriage and Family
- 53:02Speaker 1: Center six six one, three two seven fifty fifty one hundred, right, Michael,
- 53:08Speaker 1: that's right, three two seven a five to one zero zero.
- 53:12Speaker 1: All right, Michael. One last thing before I get you
- 53:14Speaker 1: out of here, And I want to talk about people
- 53:16Speaker 1: that are in relationships that don't realize well maybe that's it.
- 53:19Speaker 1: They don't realize how much better it can be. It's
- 53:23Speaker 1: just okay, she nags me all the time, he doesn't
- 53:26Speaker 1: talk to me, he's always but you know, we're all right.
- 53:29Speaker 1: I'm like, well it could be better?
- 53:32Speaker 2: Are we just?
- 53:33Speaker 1: Are we just I don't. I just don't understand why
- 53:36Speaker 1: people are okay with mediocrity and or unhappiness. Is it
- 53:43Speaker 1: that's worse than being alone, or that's better than being
- 53:45Speaker 1: alone happy and alone?
- 53:47Speaker 5: Maybe for some maybe for others, they just never really
- 53:51Speaker 5: you know, their parents didn't emphasize their relationship a lot,
- 53:54Speaker 5: so they don't mean. There's probably a ton of reasons. Okay,
- 53:57Speaker 5: But you asked me during the break a really interesting question.
- 53:59Speaker 5: You were like, how better could life be for people
- 54:03Speaker 5: if their relationship was great? Absolutely, I'm not sure people
- 54:08Speaker 5: really consider that and really go deep into that question.
- 54:11Speaker 5: Wait a minute, what if I was really looking forward
- 54:15Speaker 5: to going home? What if my partner was really looking
- 54:18Speaker 5: forward to me coming home?
- 54:21Speaker 1: Especially if you don't care for your job. You know,
- 54:25Speaker 1: you got a tough job, a stressful job. Maybe your
- 54:27Speaker 1: coworker sucked, maybe you you know, maybe you had a
- 54:30Speaker 1: bad day, you spilt a cup of coffee on yourself,
- 54:32Speaker 1: and all of a sudden, you know, and but you're
- 54:35Speaker 1: just sitting there going you're right, Michael, like you just said,
- 54:37Speaker 1: I can't wait to get home. She's waiting for me,
- 54:39Speaker 1: He's waiting. It's going to be great. She's got to
- 54:42Speaker 1: make everything better.
- 54:45Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 54:45Speaker 1: Yeah, that's a good dog man.
- 54:48Speaker 5: You can well at least wagons sailing.
- 54:52Speaker 1: Always excited when that's always say dogs are always excited
- 54:55Speaker 1: when you know nobody should ever mistreat their dog because
- 54:57Speaker 1: that's the one one living thing in your house that
- 55:00Speaker 1: is waiting for you to come home every single day.
- 55:02Speaker 5: Yeah, thank scarning get better, they absolutely do. I've seen
- 55:07Speaker 5: it happen in just hundreds of lives. They's been an
- 55:10Speaker 5: amazing career for me, and I just have really appreciated
- 55:13Speaker 5: that moment where a couple kind of turns to the
- 55:15Speaker 5: corner and realize, oh, wait a minute, it doesn't have
- 55:18Speaker 5: to be like that. It doesn't have to be We
- 55:20Speaker 5: don't have to be at each other's throat, arguing on
- 55:23Speaker 5: on pising. People are like walking on eggshells. They're like,
- 55:26Speaker 5: as soon as I say the wrong thing, yea terribly,
- 55:29Speaker 5: that's a horrible way to live and it's not necessary.
- 55:32Speaker 1: Now I will say this that I want to say
- 55:33Speaker 1: this before you get out of here, Michael. When people
- 55:36Speaker 1: are listening to this and they're thinking, you know what,
- 55:38Speaker 1: that's kind of my relationship and my marriage right now.
- 55:41Speaker 5: It can be fixed.
- 55:42Speaker 1: If you were happy once.
- 55:44Speaker 4: I believe.
- 55:45Speaker 1: I believe if you are happy at one point, you
- 55:47Speaker 1: can get back there with a little bit of work.
- 55:49Speaker 1: Would you agree to that, Michael or disagree with that?
- 55:53Speaker 5: Well, with two caveats, and one is we both know
- 55:55Speaker 5: people who never should have gotten together in the first.
- 55:57Speaker 1: Place, right, yeah, you too, thinking.
- 56:01Speaker 5: And the other one is, like we talked about, also,
- 56:04Speaker 5: people change, and sometimes you know, people really do make
- 56:08Speaker 5: real changes.
- 56:09Speaker 1: In their desires, values.
- 56:11Speaker 5: Personalities in a way that just like makes them like, well,
- 56:15Speaker 5: we're not really a fit anymore. So those two possibilities
- 56:18Speaker 5: can happen. But if the change is you know, they're
- 56:21Speaker 5: just not really into me anymore. I just don't really
- 56:23Speaker 5: feel loved by them, and I'm not really feeling super connected.
- 56:26Speaker 5: If that's the change, almost always that can be fixed.
- 56:30Speaker 1: Okay, all right, Michael being a Marriage of Family Center
- 56:34Speaker 1: The Marriage of Family Center six three two seven of
- 56:36Speaker 1: fifty one hundred. Michael, we'll talk to you next week.
- 56:39Speaker 5: Okay, we'll talk to you then, take care.
- 56:41Speaker 1: All right? Eight four to two, pop or seven to seven, Ruben?
- 56:44Speaker 1: What'd you say? Ruben? And Ruben says, hey, rom our
- 56:47Speaker 1: washer broke, waiting for them to repair it. So we
- 56:50Speaker 1: had to go. Can I just tell you a funny
- 56:52Speaker 1: story about a washer though I had? So how stupid
- 56:55Speaker 1: I am? The washer broke and I never wanted to
- 57:02Speaker 1: get rid of My washer was an old school washer,
- 57:04Speaker 1: was great. And when I went to buy one, the
- 57:10Speaker 1: guy goes, well, what size do you need? I said size?
- 57:12Speaker 1: I go, what do you mean? He goes, well, do
- 57:14Speaker 1: you want a washer that's big enough to wash your
- 57:16Speaker 1: comforters in your blankets? And I said, hell yeah, I
- 57:20Speaker 1: had no idea that I could buy one of those,
- 57:23Speaker 1: a washer big enough for my home. I always thought
- 57:25Speaker 1: you just had to go to the laundromat. No clue,
- 57:28Speaker 1: that's how stupid I am. All right, So I bought
- 57:31Speaker 1: one big enough so I don't have to go to
- 57:32Speaker 1: the laundery at no more. All right, Sorry, Ruby, what
- 57:36Speaker 1: are you saying here? So we had to go to
- 57:38Speaker 1: the laundromat. I ran into this guy that was pretty
- 57:40Speaker 1: upset because he had to go with his wife to
- 57:43Speaker 1: the laundromat. I told him it was no big deal.
- 57:47Speaker 1: No big deal, you said, you said, But I work
- 57:50Speaker 1: all day and I told him I did too, And
- 57:53Speaker 1: I told you, you bet if your buddies invited you
- 57:56Speaker 1: out drinking over drinking, you'd go he said, Hell, yeah,
- 57:59Speaker 1: I would. Yeah, Oh yeah, you're right, you know, going
- 58:02Speaker 1: to the laundromat. I mean, you're right, there's just things.
- 58:06Speaker 1: And this is I feel bad for you people in
- 58:08Speaker 1: these relationships where you're not you know, you're not getting
- 58:11Speaker 1: your needs met. You think your wife's a jackass, your
- 58:15Speaker 1: husband's an a hole. Well it's because of things like that.
- 58:18Speaker 1: You don't want to go to the laundromat. You don't
- 58:20Speaker 1: want to do the little things that are just you
- 58:22Speaker 1: gotta do them, you know. And I guess that makes
- 58:27Speaker 1: you stupid. And I don't know why you can't figure
- 58:30Speaker 1: it out to be happier. Alrighty four two five four
- 58:33Speaker 1: or seven to seven? Romeo, Hey, hey, rom why are
- 58:38Speaker 1: you so harsh on us when it comes to our relationships?
- 58:42Speaker 1: Relationships are tough and you talk about you talk to
- 58:45Speaker 1: Michael bean about everything, and you act like you just
- 58:48Speaker 1: know it all. Well, because you guys are stupid. Look
- 58:53Speaker 1: what Ruben just texted His wife asked him to go
- 58:57Speaker 1: to the laundromat because they're washer broke. Right, Okay, you
- 58:59Speaker 1: got to go sit the laundry mat with your wife.
- 59:01Speaker 1: So what Okay, Oh, I'm too tired. I worked all day.
- 59:05Speaker 1: Like he said, he ran into a guy who was
- 59:07Speaker 1: upset that he had to go with his wife. Now
- 59:09Speaker 1: for him. For the guy that Ruben was talking to,
- 59:13Speaker 1: he's mad at his wife for dragging him to the
- 59:17Speaker 1: laundry maat Okay, that's I can guarantee you that's what's
- 59:21Speaker 1: going on in his head. That's stupid. It's your stuff too,
- 59:25Speaker 1: It's not just her stuff. So it's stupid for you
- 59:29Speaker 1: to be upset about that. You You you dirty clothes too,
- 59:32Speaker 1: So what you work, go sit at the laundry mat.
- 59:35Speaker 1: You're gonna just sit on your phone anyways and watch something, right,
- 59:39Speaker 1: I mean, it's just that's why I say you're stupid.
- 59:42Speaker 1: It's not that complicated. And it's really not that complicated,
- 59:47Speaker 1: like Ruben just said, because if you if you just
- 59:49Speaker 1: changed the parameters. Oh, I just had a tough day
- 59:52Speaker 1: at work, a long, hard day at work. Your wife
- 59:55Speaker 1: wants you to go do something with her that's not work.
- 59:59Speaker 1: But if you're buy, he's ask you to go drink
- 1:00:01Speaker 1: some beers, which is not work. You'll go do it
- 1:00:03Speaker 1: every time, But you don't want to go with your
- 1:00:05Speaker 1: wife just to do, run a few errands, or go
- 1:00:08Speaker 1: sit at lunch. I mean, that's my point. That's why
- 1:00:11Speaker 1: I say you guys are stupid. And part of it
- 1:00:13Speaker 1: is I have been talking to Michael for a lot
- 1:00:15Speaker 1: of years about relationships, and the more and more I
- 1:00:17Speaker 1: talk to him, the more and may I realize how
- 1:00:19Speaker 1: stupid you guys are, because it's so there's there are
- 1:00:24Speaker 1: just little things that you can do to make your
- 1:00:27Speaker 1: relationships great, and you don't do them. Hey, rote MEO,
- 1:00:30Speaker 1: good morning. I have a compromise for rub and go
- 1:00:32Speaker 1: to the laundrymat and then after the laundrymat, go grab
- 1:00:35Speaker 1: some drinks with your wife. I mean, I like to
- 1:00:37Speaker 1: hang out with my wife over a couple of drinks
- 1:00:38Speaker 1: rather than some guys.
- 1:00:40Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:00:40Speaker 1: Well, Ruben's not talking about himself. Ruben doesn't mind doing
- 1:00:43Speaker 1: everything with his wife. In fact, they do do everything together.
- 1:00:47Speaker 1: But Ruben said he met some guy at the laundrymat
- 1:00:50Speaker 1: who was complaining that he had to come to the
- 1:00:53Speaker 1: laundrymat with his wife. He met another guy and that's
- 1:00:56Speaker 1: when Ruben said, why, I bet if your buddy's actually
- 1:00:57Speaker 1: to go out for drinks, you'd be down for them.
- 1:01:00Speaker 1: And she said yeah, the guy said, yeah, so it
- 1:01:03Speaker 1: was somebody Ruben had met, not Ruben himself. But I
- 1:01:06Speaker 1: agree with you. I mean, I agree with everything that
- 1:01:10Speaker 1: you're saying. We're not what's going on.
- 1:01:12Speaker 6: He should be happy that she actually wants.
- 1:01:14Speaker 5: To hang out with him. She could be at that
- 1:01:16Speaker 5: laundromat texting some other man. I'm just saying, like she
- 1:01:22Speaker 5: could be texting someone else that's going to give her
- 1:01:24Speaker 5: the attention that she's seeking.
- 1:01:25Speaker 1: You know, I just yeah, yeah, you're absolutely right. I
- 1:01:30Speaker 1: don't understand this.
- 1:01:31Speaker 2: I don't.
- 1:01:32Speaker 9: I don't understand it, but I don't Honestly, I've been
- 1:01:36Speaker 9: listening to you since I was in high school.
- 1:01:38Speaker 5: I don't think you're harsh on us.
- 1:01:40Speaker 6: I think you're honest.
- 1:01:41Speaker 1: And some people don't like honesty, and because that's the
- 1:01:43Speaker 1: narcissistic traits they have, they think.
- 1:01:45Speaker 5: They're okay, but they always play victims. So you're fine, Rome,
- 1:01:48Speaker 5: whoever that person was. Excuse me, my language comes the
- 1:01:52Speaker 5: heck down.
- 1:01:54Speaker 8: Being stop being dumb and ro won't call you out.
- 1:01:58Speaker 1: I mean, if you don't, I don't have to call
- 1:02:01Speaker 1: you stupid. Hey, thanks for calling I appreciate it. You know,
- 1:02:07Speaker 1: I wonder why some of you guys, wonder you know
- 1:02:10Speaker 1: why you don't get what you want out of a relationship.
- 1:02:13Speaker 1: You know, well, you know she don't do this, she
- 1:02:17Speaker 1: don't do that. Well, that's because you don't do a
- 1:02:19Speaker 1: damn thing. How about just how about you doing a
- 1:02:21Speaker 1: little something right? How about you putting in a little effort,
- 1:02:24Speaker 1: a little more effort. How about you putting in a
- 1:02:26Speaker 1: little effort. Remember, like we said earlier, jumping, there's some
- 1:02:29Speaker 1: hoops if the guy doesn't jump through hoops for you
- 1:02:33Speaker 1: in the honeymoon phase, when you've just dated, when you're
- 1:02:36Speaker 1: supposed when you supposedly are interested the most in somebody,
- 1:02:40Speaker 1: if they're not jumping for hoops where you, they're never
- 1:02:42Speaker 1: gonna jump through hoops for you. And I, you know,
- 1:02:46Speaker 1: I always go back to the same thing to every
- 1:02:48Speaker 1: single guy that ever says, my wife don't give me
- 1:02:52Speaker 1: no sex. Well, did you give you sex when you
- 1:02:57Speaker 1: were staying up till four in the morning when you
- 1:03:00Speaker 1: first started dating and you had to be at work
- 1:03:02Speaker 1: at six she gave it to you? Then, huh, because
- 1:03:05Speaker 1: you were going out of your way for her. And
- 1:03:09Speaker 1: now you want you want the same treatment, but you
- 1:03:11Speaker 1: don't want to go out a way out of your
- 1:03:13Speaker 1: way for her. Same thing goes for you women, So
- 1:03:14Speaker 1: don't think I'm going to exclude you out this nonsense.
- 1:03:17Speaker 1: You were more than happy to do certain things, dress
- 1:03:21Speaker 1: a certain way, act a certain way when it was
- 1:03:24Speaker 1: new and fresh, and now you don't want to act
- 1:03:28Speaker 1: that way because well, he put a ring on it,
- 1:03:31Speaker 1: so I don't have to do this anymore. And you
- 1:03:34Speaker 1: guys know what I'm talking about. I don't have to
- 1:03:36Speaker 1: do that anymore. And when you're thinking about a relationship
- 1:03:40Speaker 1: like that, you guys both deserve what you get. There's
- 1:03:44Speaker 1: no other way around it. You deserve to be miserable
- 1:03:47Speaker 1: in that relationship.
- 1:03:48Speaker 10: Good morning, Romeo, what's up?
- 1:03:50Speaker 1: Everything's that? What's going on? I'm worry.
- 1:03:54Speaker 10: I'm sitting here listening and you talk about you know
- 1:03:56Speaker 10: how men and women they stop doing certain things after
- 1:03:59Speaker 10: you know, X amount of time, and it's because, like now,
- 1:04:04Speaker 10: I'm sorry, but recently I've learned that the guys are princesses.
- 1:04:08Speaker 10: They want to be treated like princesses. They don't want
- 1:04:11Speaker 10: to do the manly manly things vice versa. Women don't
- 1:04:13Speaker 10: want to do the women things. And everyone's everyone's independent,
- 1:04:17Speaker 10: and everyone's there I'm I'm my own person, and I
- 1:04:21Speaker 10: for women, I'm my own person.
- 1:04:23Speaker 9: I could do whatever I want. I'm an alful woman.
- 1:04:26Speaker 10: And then they want to date these men who are
- 1:04:28Speaker 10: princesses and want to be treated like it. And I
- 1:04:30Speaker 10: deserve this and I deserve that, but everyone stopped doing
- 1:04:33Speaker 10: what they need to do.
- 1:04:35Speaker 9: You know what I mean.
- 1:04:36Speaker 1: I agree with you to a certain extent, but yes,
- 1:04:41Speaker 1: I think you're right. I think you're right there. Yeah,
- 1:04:43Speaker 1: you can't be with you can't be and I'm gonna
- 1:04:47Speaker 1: just as you put it, you can't be an outful
- 1:04:49Speaker 1: woman and then expects them dude to do everything for
- 1:04:52Speaker 1: you and be treated like a princess. Okay, just that's
- 1:04:54Speaker 1: not how life works. It's not those are Those two
- 1:04:57Speaker 1: things are not going to coexist in any possible way.
- 1:05:00Speaker 1: So I agree with you.
- 1:05:02Speaker 2: Yeah, right.
- 1:05:03Speaker 9: And then the men that are like, well, you act
- 1:05:06Speaker 9: too strongly, too independent, Well give her that softness.
- 1:05:10Speaker 10: I don't think you've given her that chance to be soft.
- 1:05:14Speaker 10: I mean, I'm something that I had with my husband.
- 1:05:16Speaker 9: I've been with him almost ten years, and I've i
- 1:05:19Speaker 9: came from being so independent to then being supped, and
- 1:05:22Speaker 9: then we had you know, these these hurdles that we
- 1:05:24Speaker 9: had to get through where I started that fight or flight.
- 1:05:27Speaker 10: Again and I'm like, if I can't do it, nobody's
- 1:05:29Speaker 10: going to do it for me. You know, that's not
- 1:05:31Speaker 10: how I should be being married. Like, no, even my
- 1:05:34Speaker 10: husband we had that time where I was like, ye,
- 1:05:38Speaker 10: he was like, hey, you don't do this no more.
- 1:05:39Speaker 10: And I was like, well, you don't give me the
- 1:05:41Speaker 10: need to want to do.
- 1:05:42Speaker 9: It, Like I have to want to do it, and
- 1:05:44Speaker 9: I don't because you.
- 1:05:46Speaker 10: Don't cut the damn brass or you know, like you
- 1:05:50Speaker 10: don't do this.
- 1:05:50Speaker 9: And I'm sitting here cout dinner and yeah, cleaning your
- 1:05:53Speaker 9: dirty underwear, And it's like, what about what I need?
- 1:05:56Speaker 10: You want this, but you can't give this, you know,
- 1:05:59Speaker 10: so here listen.
- 1:06:01Speaker 1: Well you're right about that that I one hundred percent
- 1:06:03Speaker 1: agree with you. There is a fine balance of this
- 1:06:07Speaker 1: whole archaic idea of he goes to work and she's
- 1:06:11Speaker 1: in the kitchen. Okay, yes that is not real. We've
- 1:06:14Speaker 1: more way past that. But there's also a balance time.
- 1:06:18Speaker 9: What's that we are so passive time and like we
- 1:06:22Speaker 9: want look at me.
- 1:06:24Speaker 10: I listen, I would love to be in the freaking
- 1:06:27Speaker 10: kitchen all day. I would love to be a sty
- 1:06:29Speaker 10: at home mommy, you know, stay at home wife and clean.
- 1:06:32Speaker 9: The house and wear high hills in the kitchen when
- 1:06:34Speaker 9: you get home.
- 1:06:35Speaker 10: I would love that, I really really would.
- 1:06:37Speaker 9: If you make the money and you can support our
- 1:06:40Speaker 9: entire family and our bills and still allow me to
- 1:06:42Speaker 9: have that freedom of Hey, I feel like going shopping today.
- 1:06:44Speaker 10: Yes, and you want to have dinner and this is
- 1:06:48Speaker 10: what you want. You want me to please give me that,
- 1:06:51Speaker 10: Give me that.
- 1:06:52Speaker 9: But we don't live in those times anymore.
- 1:06:54Speaker 10: We live in a time where the men are like,
- 1:06:56Speaker 10: it's goofty, it's gooty, fifty.
- 1:06:58Speaker 5: I'm gonna have fifty percent of that.
- 1:07:00Speaker 1: Yes, you know, you're right, You're right. I totally agree
- 1:07:02Speaker 1: with you. But there is still a balance there. I mean,
- 1:07:05Speaker 1: there is nothing wrong with with cooking. There's nothing you
- 1:07:08Speaker 1: gotta eat, there's nothing wrong with cleaning, there's nothing wrong
- 1:07:11Speaker 1: with mowing the lawn. There's all these things that cause problems.
- 1:07:14Speaker 1: Like you said, these traditional gender roles, they can still
- 1:07:17Speaker 1: be there. You just the attitude that you have about
- 1:07:20Speaker 1: it has to change. And that's where I say, because
- 1:07:22Speaker 1: I always say this, I I if you can cook
- 1:07:25Speaker 1: and you're a stay at home wife. And this is
- 1:07:28Speaker 1: what I argue about guys with all the time. Your
- 1:07:30Speaker 1: wife stays at home, she cooks, and then you come
- 1:07:32Speaker 1: home on Wednesday and she goes, I don't want to cook,
- 1:07:34Speaker 1: and you go, nope, you have to cook your stay
- 1:07:36Speaker 1: at home as opposed to well, let's go get some
- 1:07:38Speaker 1: deep then the guys, that attitude is what changes the
- 1:07:42Speaker 1: dynamic of those traditional gender roles and and can allow
- 1:07:46Speaker 1: people to still feel important in the relationship.
- 1:07:49Speaker 9: I mean, yeah, all right, you know my husband he'll
- 1:07:53Speaker 9: get that.
- 1:07:54Speaker 10: You know, he threw that at me one time.
- 1:07:56Speaker 9: You know, I was at work all day.
- 1:07:58Speaker 10: Normal eight to five, got off, got my daughter, stopped
- 1:08:01Speaker 10: at the grocery store.
- 1:08:03Speaker 9: Dinner wasn't ready, and he just had came home.
- 1:08:05Speaker 10: I know he had a hard day.
- 1:08:07Speaker 9: I get it. I'm an understanding person. He was upset.
- 1:08:10Speaker 10: He's like, you're still Dinner's still not done.
- 1:08:13Speaker 9: Monkey.
- 1:08:13Speaker 5: He got home at six o'clock.
- 1:08:15Speaker 10: I was off of workout five, had.
- 1:08:17Speaker 9: To take my daughter up from asking school, got home,
- 1:08:20Speaker 9: started cooking, and he was like, dinner's still not ready.
- 1:08:23Speaker 10: I looked at him and I said, excuse the s
- 1:08:26Speaker 10: out of his hand, said you want to get in
- 1:08:27Speaker 10: the kitchen and start cooking. You want to get in
- 1:08:29Speaker 10: here and start cooking.
- 1:08:30Speaker 9: Your laundry is going already, You're welcome.
- 1:08:33Speaker 8: You know, I've been here for fifteen minutes.
- 1:08:37Speaker 10: Bro, the one hasn't even started boiling.
- 1:08:39Speaker 9: What are you talking about?
- 1:08:41Speaker 2: You know? Yeah? Oh we can't.
- 1:08:44Speaker 10: I tell my husband, like, you can't expect all of
- 1:08:46Speaker 10: this from me like a superhero, Like the house is clean,
- 1:08:49Speaker 10: the dinner's.
- 1:08:50Speaker 9: Going to be ready. I'm working a full time job,
- 1:08:52Speaker 9: I'm getting our daughter. You know, I'm doing all of this.
- 1:08:54Speaker 9: You can't expect me to have dinner ready in fifteen
- 1:08:56Speaker 9: minutes unless you want some banks spaghetti, noodles and sauce.
- 1:09:00Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm You're absolutely right, totally gree with you, totally
- 1:09:04Speaker 1: you you know, and even I can't really and realistically,
- 1:09:07Speaker 1: I can't expect a lot from him either.
- 1:09:09Speaker 9: You know, he does work his long hours and he
- 1:09:12Speaker 9: gets maybe one.
- 1:09:13Speaker 5: Or two days off a week.
- 1:09:14Speaker 9: On that one day off, I have his entire day
- 1:09:16Speaker 9: pen and he'll get upset, and I'm like, you know what,
- 1:09:18Speaker 9: I'm gonna take a step back because you're right, it's
- 1:09:20Speaker 9: your only day off and I want you up at
- 1:09:22Speaker 9: seven in the morning and we're going to home depot
- 1:09:24Speaker 9: and we got to go to Walmart and I want
- 1:09:26Speaker 9: to stop at the Rocks.
- 1:09:27Speaker 10: And I can't expect that from him on his only day.
- 1:09:29Speaker 8: You know the problem.
- 1:09:30Speaker 1: But I will say this, and not to get too
- 1:09:32Speaker 1: much longer into this, but if that's the day off
- 1:09:35Speaker 1: and that's when you can get that stuff done, then
- 1:09:38Speaker 1: you got to get that stuff done. But but that's
- 1:09:40Speaker 1: my point, my point behind this whole idea of how
- 1:09:43Speaker 1: you feel about things. We can still have traditional, traditional
- 1:09:48Speaker 1: gender roles within our household, but you also have to
- 1:09:53Speaker 1: understand that sometimes it doesn't work out that way and
- 1:09:56Speaker 1: we got to do something different. And that's why I
- 1:09:59Speaker 1: have a probably laundry.
- 1:10:01Speaker 10: My husband started doing his laundry sometimes and he'll be like, hey,
- 1:10:04Speaker 10: I just put my work close to watch, don't worry
- 1:10:05Speaker 10: about eldry. And you know that's not traditional. You know
- 1:10:09Speaker 10: men men are like the laundry.
- 1:10:10Speaker 9: I'm not doing that.
- 1:10:11Speaker 10: I sit there and I brought Yes, my husband does laundry, Yes,
- 1:10:14Speaker 10: he share?
- 1:10:15Speaker 5: Does he share?
- 1:10:16Speaker 9: Does if I have to fix the vacuum, I will
- 1:10:18Speaker 9: fix the vacuum or not traditional? You know what I mean?
- 1:10:21Speaker 1: Yeah, absolutely all right, I gotta jump, Thanks for coming.
- 1:10:23Speaker 9: It's a good day.
- 1:10:25Speaker 1: But it's the idea. It's the idea of how you
- 1:10:28Speaker 1: feel about it. Some there are women out there that
- 1:10:31Speaker 1: won't cook out a spiite. I mean, they would starve
- 1:10:35Speaker 1: her and her husband out of spite because of the
- 1:10:38Speaker 1: concept of oh, a woman doesn't belong in the kitchen. Well,
- 1:10:41Speaker 1: if you, whoever can cook, belongs in the kitchen because
- 1:10:44Speaker 1: we got to eat somehow, right, whether it's a man
- 1:10:46Speaker 1: or a woman. But the idea is, if you know
- 1:10:51Speaker 1: how to cook and you want to provide for your
- 1:10:53Speaker 1: family in the kitchen, there's nothing wrong with that. It's
- 1:10:56Speaker 1: when somebody tells you you have to do it is
- 1:11:00Speaker 1: when that causes the problem. Because if you feel like
- 1:11:04Speaker 1: you're doing it because you want to do it, that's
- 1:11:06Speaker 1: different than your husband telling you to do it. Okay,
- 1:11:10Speaker 1: that's the idea of when I say we can have
- 1:11:12Speaker 1: traditional gender roles, we just have to think about them
- 1:11:15Speaker 1: differently in the way that we manage them. Hey, rom
- 1:11:17Speaker 1: I got a question. My kids are all grown up now.
- 1:11:20Speaker 1: My wife and I can't get along. I'm so ready
- 1:11:22Speaker 1: to be alone. My whole life, my whole life married
- 1:11:25Speaker 1: was everything being my fault. So I just want to
- 1:11:28Speaker 1: move to another state and start over. Is that selfish
- 1:11:31Speaker 1: of me?
- 1:11:31Speaker 9: No?
- 1:11:32Speaker 1: I mean you've done your job. I mean I don't know,
- 1:11:35Speaker 1: I don't know there's more to the story. But if
- 1:11:37Speaker 1: I'm just going to go based on what you said,
- 1:11:38Speaker 1: it's always your fault. You've done your job, your kids
- 1:11:41Speaker 1: are raised, you've met your commitment to your wife and family.
- 1:11:45Speaker 1: If you want to move to another state and start
- 1:11:47Speaker 1: over and start the second chapter in your life, yeah,
- 1:11:51Speaker 1: there's nothing wrong with that. That's not being selfish. Hey Roam,
- 1:11:55Speaker 1: Ruben's big ass drawers broke the washer. Oh my gosh,
- 1:12:02Speaker 1: you guys are too much. Hey Rome, why is the
- 1:12:05Speaker 1: bride smiling when she walks down the aisle because she
- 1:12:08Speaker 1: knows she's given her last Yeah, that's what I'm saying.
- 1:12:11Speaker 1: When you have that type of attitude, you know exactly.
- 1:12:13Speaker 1: You guys know the joke, right.
- 1:12:16Speaker 2: You.
- 1:12:19Speaker 1: There's two reasons you don't have to do certain things
- 1:12:21Speaker 1: in a relationship. One is because you make enough money,
- 1:12:24Speaker 1: and two is because you got married. And these are
- 1:12:26Speaker 1: like stereotypes that people have when they get into their marriages.
- 1:12:30Speaker 1: I don't got to do that no more. And well,
- 1:12:32Speaker 1: then I guess if things don't go the way you
- 1:12:35Speaker 1: want it, that's part of it's on you. You know
- 1:12:38Speaker 1: what I'm saying with that type of attitude that once
- 1:12:40Speaker 1: I get married, I don't have to do whatever your X,
- 1:12:43Speaker 1: Y and Z is. Then you got a problem and
- 1:12:47Speaker 1: you deserve whatever you get.
- 1:12:49Speaker 5: No Romeo, that last caller, that lady could talk, she
- 1:12:52Speaker 5: can't talk. Yeah, if she cleaned, it.
- 1:12:55Speaker 7: Could be as much as she talked. There would be
- 1:12:57Speaker 7: no argument with her and her husband there. Okay, but
- 1:13:02Speaker 7: but you know what, I don't know expect my wife
- 1:13:04Speaker 7: to do anything. You know, I know everybody's all these
- 1:13:08Speaker 7: women want to feel equal until it's time the mouldy
- 1:13:11Speaker 7: yard or changed tire. But when I got in my relationship,
- 1:13:14Speaker 7: I found out my wife couldn't cook. So I was like,
- 1:13:16Speaker 7: you know what greater days now about the star.
- 1:13:19Speaker 5: So I'll I'll cook that. I don't mind cooking.
- 1:13:22Speaker 6: And if she's too busy and I like my house clean,
- 1:13:26Speaker 6: I'll clean the house.
- 1:13:27Speaker 2: So you know, it's different.
- 1:13:31Speaker 1: Yeah, it sounds like you a little bee. What sounds
- 1:13:38Speaker 1: like you a little punk?
- 1:13:39Speaker 10: Yeah?
- 1:13:40Speaker 7: Not none at all.
- 1:13:41Speaker 5: You know I told you this once before, Happy wife,
- 1:13:44Speaker 5: Happy life, you know.
- 1:13:45Speaker 1: I'm not the stupidest thing I've ever heard, but okay,
- 1:13:48Speaker 1: all right, right today, that's the stupidest thing I've ever heard.
- 1:13:50Speaker 1: That is the stupidest thing I've ever heard. Okay, it's
- 1:13:54Speaker 1: it's no that anybody that believes that deserves to be
- 1:13:57Speaker 1: a miserable. You know what, you deserve to be miserable.
- 1:14:00Speaker 1: That's your that's your logic in life. That happy wife,
- 1:14:04Speaker 1: happy life. And you're gonna let her dictate how how
- 1:14:08Speaker 1: how You're gonna let her dictate the happiness in your marriage,
- 1:14:13Speaker 1: You're a moron. Okay, But it goes the other way too.
- 1:14:17Speaker 1: If you're gonna let your husband dictate the temperature of
- 1:14:20Speaker 1: your marriage, you're a moron. You're just stupid. People. People,
- 1:14:25Speaker 1: men and women in relationships who get married can coexist
- 1:14:29Speaker 1: happily and have great lives together. Okay, to let one
- 1:14:35Speaker 1: or the other dictate how dictate your happiness or the
- 1:14:40Speaker 1: relationship's happiness is stupid and there's no excuse for it.
- 1:14:46Speaker 1: And if that's how you want to live, you deserve
- 1:14:48Speaker 1: to be miserable. All right, eight four two five four
- 1:14:51Speaker 1: or seven to seven. I totally forgot what I was
- 1:14:53Speaker 1: going to say. Now that Raider Dave got me, got
- 1:14:55Speaker 1: me into that? Hey, Rome, who's more of the idiots?
- 1:15:01Speaker 1: Seahawk Lure Raider Dave. Wow, Yeah, they're both the same.
- 1:15:14Speaker 1: They're both the same, dumb ass. So there there's I
- 1:15:16Speaker 1: don't think one's more. I don't think one's more of
- 1:15:18Speaker 1: an idiot than the other. Good morning, Now, what's going on?
- 1:15:21Speaker 1: What's up?
- 1:15:22Speaker 9: Romeo?
- 1:15:23Speaker 6: It's me again, Reddy Dave.
- 1:15:25Speaker 5: You're dumb as hell.
- 1:15:27Speaker 9: You are dumb as hell. Okay, happy wife, happy life,
- 1:15:30Speaker 9: my big ass. Okay, I could I cleaned my husband
- 1:15:36Speaker 9: ate almost three hundred pounds for no damn reason.
- 1:15:38Speaker 4: Okay, he wants to be polked around by his wife,
- 1:15:41Speaker 4: and I'll cook and i'll clean the house.
- 1:15:43Speaker 9: You probably aren't working, raider days.
- 1:15:45Speaker 4: You probably aren't working and cooking.
- 1:15:49Speaker 6: Okay.
- 1:15:50Speaker 8: I don't know what he's up here.
- 1:15:51Speaker 10: Her husband wouldn't be mad if she cooked and clean
- 1:15:54Speaker 10: the way she said, shut up, Yeah, your wife's gonna
- 1:15:57Speaker 10: be mad if dinner's not ready by six.
- 1:15:59Speaker 4: That's what I heard.
- 1:16:04Speaker 1: Hey, Rome, So I know it's a topic about husbands
- 1:16:07Speaker 1: and wives. You know, I've been with my husband twenty
- 1:16:09Speaker 1: years and we both work full time, and we both
- 1:16:12Speaker 1: make about the same amount of money, but he expects
- 1:16:14Speaker 1: everything to be fifty to fifty all the time, and
- 1:16:17Speaker 1: when times get hard, he starts saying that I don't
- 1:16:19Speaker 1: pay the same amounts as him, just because he pays
- 1:16:23Speaker 1: mortgage and one loved sum. I pay all the other
- 1:16:25Speaker 1: bills and all the expenses food, we go, grocery shopping.
- 1:16:29Speaker 1: He does one week, I do another week. We have
- 1:16:32Speaker 1: kids and a couple of dogs. So yeah, it's okay
- 1:16:35Speaker 1: for him to expect fifty to fifty everything, fifty to
- 1:16:39Speaker 1: fifty everything, even though he's a man of the house.
- 1:16:41Speaker 1: What do you think. Also, we pay for almost for
- 1:16:44Speaker 1: almost all our trips and Dodger games. Well, at least
- 1:16:50Speaker 1: you go on trips and Dodger games together, so you
- 1:16:52Speaker 1: must love each other like each other at least I am.
- 1:16:55Speaker 1: What I think is any man who says we have
- 1:17:00Speaker 1: to go fifty to fifty is a loser. I don't
- 1:17:03Speaker 1: believe in that at all. I was not raised that way.
- 1:17:06Speaker 1: I was raised by my father to pay for everything
- 1:17:11Speaker 1: that you need to live, house, electric, water, car payments.
- 1:17:18Speaker 1: In his mind, those are the things you need to
- 1:17:20Speaker 1: the food. Although I think food, I think food goes
- 1:17:25Speaker 1: either way. When it comes to especially two people that
- 1:17:28Speaker 1: have incomes, food can go. I think food goes either
- 1:17:32Speaker 1: way because sometimes you want something or sometimes it's just
- 1:17:35Speaker 1: somebody has the time to go to the store and
- 1:17:36Speaker 1: somebody does it. So that's what I'm that. And I
- 1:17:42Speaker 1: think anybody who's over here trying to put fifty to
- 1:17:46Speaker 1: fifty on a relationship is it's one of the worst
- 1:17:50Speaker 1: things you can do in your relationship. Is what happens
- 1:17:53Speaker 1: when you say our relationship needs to be fifty to fifty,
- 1:17:57Speaker 1: you're keeping score. And once you're keeping score in your relationship,
- 1:18:02Speaker 1: what kind of relationship are you in? So what do
- 1:18:06Speaker 1: I think about? I think your husband's a jackass, and
- 1:18:08Speaker 1: I think he needs to step up and take care
- 1:18:10Speaker 1: of things and pay for more. And I just think,
- 1:18:15Speaker 1: but that's how I was raised. Now you can argue,
- 1:18:19Speaker 1: and I don't blame you guys. You can argue that, well,
- 1:18:21Speaker 1: it's expensive to live sometimes, you know, we need both
- 1:18:24Speaker 1: incomes to survive, which is fine. But when you're keeping
- 1:18:32Speaker 1: score in your relationship, nobody wins because one person thinks
- 1:18:37Speaker 1: they're ahead, the other person thinks they're behind. There's no
- 1:18:41Speaker 1: way to actually agree on who's doing what and when
- 1:18:48Speaker 1: you're doing that, it makes you feel like you're being
- 1:18:51Speaker 1: taken advantage of. And that's just insecurity and stupidity. You're married, Okay,
- 1:18:57Speaker 1: Now you can sit there and say all day long, Hey,
- 1:19:00Speaker 1: we're equal. We got to you know, we ought all
- 1:19:02Speaker 1: our moneys in the bank account. It's all this, it's
- 1:19:04Speaker 1: all that. But no, somebody always feels like they're getting
- 1:19:09Speaker 1: when it's fifty to fifty. So that's why I think
- 1:19:12Speaker 1: that's one of the stupidest things you can do in
- 1:19:14Speaker 1: your relationship. And we're actually going to talk about this tomorrow,
- 1:19:18Speaker 1: the cost of being in a relationship, because I think
- 1:19:21Speaker 1: that you guys feel like you being in a relationship,
- 1:19:27Speaker 1: it costs something and you're not being taken advantage of.
- 1:19:31Speaker 1: If you feel like you're being taken an advantage of
- 1:19:34Speaker 1: in a relationship, you shouldn't be in one. And people
- 1:19:38Speaker 1: who feel like they're always being taken advantage of or
- 1:19:40Speaker 1: don't want to be taken advantage of, we'll never find
- 1:19:43Speaker 1: a good relationship. You see these guys out here and
- 1:19:46Speaker 1: these girls out here going, well, I gotta find this
- 1:19:48Speaker 1: type of person to be with who's not gonna take
- 1:19:51Speaker 1: advantage of me. Well, Okay, you do, You're right, you do.
- 1:19:55Speaker 1: But when that's what you're basing everything on, you're already
- 1:19:58Speaker 1: you've already lost. Would you send me here? In part
- 1:20:02Speaker 1: two five four, seven to seven, Rome, you got to understand, Uh,
- 1:20:05Speaker 1: a dumbass raider. Dave is used to cleaning his cell
- 1:20:08Speaker 1: and his wife used to paying the bills.
- 1:20:11Speaker 2: This is uh.
- 1:20:13Speaker 1: This is uh is used to paying the bills. That's
- 1:20:18Speaker 1: why he's cooking and cleaning room. That's why he's always
- 1:20:21Speaker 1: He's always says happy wife, happy life, because she holds
- 1:20:25Speaker 1: it down. I don't see okolou probably the same way.
- 1:20:28Speaker 1: But it's just stupid. I mean, it's just stupid that
- 1:20:30Speaker 1: to live by that motto to live by happy to
- 1:20:33Speaker 1: live by that is idiotic, or vice versa. You know,
- 1:20:36Speaker 1: once again, to let your your partner determine the temperature
- 1:20:40Speaker 1: of your relationship is stupid. Who who lives like that?
- 1:20:44Speaker 1: You deserve to be miserable, that's what you believe, Just
- 1:20:47Speaker 1: like fifty to fifty, fifty to fifty is keeping score.
- 1:20:49Speaker 1: Once you're keeping score, you've already lost. Hey, Rome, Hey,
- 1:20:53Speaker 1: this is selu. I haven't even gained my input on
- 1:20:56Speaker 1: this situation and why they why they bashing me for.
- 1:21:01Speaker 1: But I do agree with happy wife, Happy life. Well
- 1:21:04Speaker 1: once again because in Seahawk Lose Life. You know, his
- 1:21:10Speaker 1: wife's the breadwinner. That fool don't got no job, so
- 1:21:12Speaker 1: he's got to do what she says. You know what
- 1:21:14Speaker 1: I'm saying. Money plays a part, it does, But when
- 1:21:18Speaker 1: you use money to control somebody, that's where the problem is.
- 1:21:22Speaker 1: You know, you think it's your money. It's not your money,
- 1:21:26Speaker 1: it's our money. And that's why I always say about
- 1:21:29Speaker 1: the fifty to fifty. Any man who doesn't pay for
- 1:21:34Speaker 1: all the bills for living okay, living expenses, house, cars, electricity, TV, water,
- 1:21:44Speaker 1: those things the man should pay for because you would
- 1:21:48Speaker 1: have to pay for those things if you lived alone anyways.
- 1:21:52Speaker 1: So why would you all of a sudden get into
- 1:21:55Speaker 1: a relationship and go, you know what, you got to
- 1:21:58Speaker 1: chip in?
- 1:21:58Speaker 2: Now?
- 1:22:00Speaker 1: That's selfish and stupid, it's insecure. It's uh, you got
- 1:22:06Speaker 1: you got some problems? Well, Rome, what if she takes
- 1:22:08Speaker 1: advantage of me? What if she moves in and then
- 1:22:10Speaker 1: two months later or a year later, she moves out. Man,
- 1:22:12Speaker 1: she took advantage of me all that time.
- 1:22:14Speaker 2: So what.
- 1:22:16Speaker 1: So what you lost? Nothing? You lost absolutely nothing because
- 1:22:20Speaker 1: you had to pay all those expenses. Anyways, that's my
- 1:22:24Speaker 1: logic behind that, And plus that's why my dad taught me.
- 1:22:26Speaker 1: You take care of your family. You pay for your family.
- 1:22:30Speaker 1: That's what you do when you go out to dinner,
- 1:22:32Speaker 1: you pay. Now, egos start to get involved, and this
- 1:22:35Speaker 1: is where women cause just as many problems in the
- 1:22:38Speaker 1: relationships because their egos can't handle the fact that, oh,
- 1:22:42Speaker 1: he just bought us all dinner. Well, he's your damn husband,
- 1:22:45Speaker 1: who cares if he bought you dinner? Oh well, he's
- 1:22:48Speaker 1: your boyfriend, who cares. He's supposed to buy you dinner.
- 1:22:53Speaker 1: You know, that's that's not what men should not need
- 1:22:57Speaker 1: a woman's money. That's just bottom line. Hey, Romeo, what
- 1:23:02Speaker 1: kind of degree do you have in relationships? Why do
- 1:23:05Speaker 1: people listen to you? Are you really the best person
- 1:23:08Speaker 1: to be telling people how to live, how to live,
- 1:23:12Speaker 1: how to live in their relationship? People are different, they
- 1:23:15Speaker 1: like different things. Why are they? Why are they asking you?
- 1:23:20Speaker 1: Because I'm smarter than you. That's why there's two reasons.
- 1:23:25Speaker 1: One I'm smarter than you, and two I don't have
- 1:23:29Speaker 1: a dog in this fight. I can tell you, guys
- 1:23:32Speaker 1: exactly what to do because I don't have to. I
- 1:23:35Speaker 1: don't have to deal with you other than you know
- 1:23:39Speaker 1: when you text me. But no, that's why. And I'm
- 1:23:42Speaker 1: just smarter than you. I know more than you. I'm
- 1:23:44Speaker 1: more experienced than all of you. It's Romo, it's not
- 1:23:47Speaker 1: to be four. And I'm happier than all of you.
- 1:23:49Speaker 1: What did you send me here? Hey, Romeo, I gotta
- 1:23:52Speaker 1: tell you a funny story about when a woman moves
- 1:23:56Speaker 1: in with a guy. My parents taught me the same way.
- 1:24:00Speaker 1: My dad was a very hard worker. Now, my mom
- 1:24:03Speaker 1: was a stay at home mom and raised three of
- 1:24:06Speaker 1: us on my dad's salary. So my mom was a
- 1:24:09Speaker 1: great mom. Took care of the house, took fed us,
- 1:24:13Speaker 1: took care of us, you know, did the house duties.
- 1:24:15Speaker 1: And that's how it worked in my house. My dad, though,
- 1:24:19Speaker 1: was never uh, my dad though, was never I don't
- 1:24:25Speaker 1: know what you're trying. Oh, it was never an overlord.
- 1:24:27Speaker 1: Is that what you're trying to say. He never threw
- 1:24:30Speaker 1: money in my mom's face. It was whatever my mom
- 1:24:34Speaker 1: wanted to take care of us kids and the house,
- 1:24:38Speaker 1: and he was happy with that. So when I moved
- 1:24:41Speaker 1: out and got into a relationship, I talked to my
- 1:24:46Speaker 1: mom and dad, and they told me, you pay for everything,
- 1:24:48Speaker 1: just like your mom and dad told you.
- 1:24:50Speaker 5: Rome.
- 1:24:51Speaker 1: Okay, when I when my girlfriend moved in, she's now
- 1:24:56Speaker 1: my wife. She was one of those indie women that
- 1:25:01Speaker 1: didn't need a man that could pay her own bills.
- 1:25:04Speaker 1: When she moved in with me, she wanted to pay
- 1:25:08Speaker 1: her portion of the household expenses. I told her that's
- 1:25:11Speaker 1: not necessary. I'm your boyfriend, I got it, don't worry
- 1:25:16Speaker 1: about it. There was a oh, there was a little
- 1:25:20Speaker 1: bit of a struggle with her, but she accepted it.
- 1:25:23Speaker 1: I told her, you just use your money for you
- 1:25:26Speaker 1: and will be fine. After a year, Rome, believe it
- 1:25:32Speaker 1: or not, this woman started buying groceries. She started cooking
- 1:25:35Speaker 1: for me when I was coming home. She changed her
- 1:25:39Speaker 1: attitude of being in a relationship.
- 1:25:41Speaker 2: Now.
- 1:25:41Speaker 1: I never asked her for any of that. I just
- 1:25:45Speaker 1: let her be herself. But after having a man who
- 1:25:49Speaker 1: was willing and wanted to take care of her, she
- 1:25:52Speaker 1: was willing and wanted to take care of me. She
- 1:25:54Speaker 1: started buying me clothes and her money was used for
- 1:25:58Speaker 1: both of us, just in a different way than basic
- 1:26:01Speaker 1: household bills. I wish more people could understand that I
- 1:26:05Speaker 1: wish more people could understand that too, because, believe it
- 1:26:08Speaker 1: or not, you guys are trying so hard to not
- 1:26:12Speaker 1: be taken advantage of, or to not put yourself out there,
- 1:26:15Speaker 1: or to keep score in your life. Suck, okay, sucks
- 1:26:20Speaker 1: for you. Hey, good morning to rome I bet that dude,
- 1:26:24Speaker 1: the dude that sent you that was crying while typing
- 1:26:27Speaker 1: because he has a happy wife, happy life tattooed on
- 1:26:31Speaker 1: his forehead and his wife left him all better about
- 1:26:35Speaker 1: down to Romeo because he's the king of the truth,
- 1:26:38Speaker 1: keeps spreading the truth. Bro, Well, you know somebody's got
- 1:26:43Speaker 1: to you. Don't want everybody, anybody lie to you, right,
- 1:26:45Speaker 1: I mean right already four two four seven. But the
- 1:26:49Speaker 1: reality is that don't get I'm not some badass. That's
- 1:26:52Speaker 1: just It's just I have no dog in your fight
- 1:26:54Speaker 1: when it comes to your relationship. You know, I can
- 1:26:57Speaker 1: tell I can tell women and men why you're stupid
- 1:27:02Speaker 1: because I'm not one. I'm not trying to sleep with
- 1:27:04Speaker 1: you in one I'm not trying. Yeah, I'm not. You know,
- 1:27:08Speaker 1: I don't have I don't have any real consequence, and
- 1:27:11Speaker 1: I'm not lying to you. I'm not telling you something crazy,
- 1:27:17Speaker 1: you know, I'm telling you how to be happier with
- 1:27:19Speaker 1: your partner, and it works both ways. Bro, I understand
- 1:27:24Speaker 1: that a man will have to pay all the bills
- 1:27:26Speaker 1: regardless if he's in a relationship or not. But don't
- 1:27:29Speaker 1: women have to pay bills regardless? Also, why in a
- 1:27:33Speaker 1: relationship does the woman get a free ride? Aren't they
- 1:27:36Speaker 1: equal or a woman or or are women less? You
- 1:27:41Speaker 1: can't tell if you are a feminist. You can't tell
- 1:27:45Speaker 1: if you are a feminist or a sexist. It's not
- 1:27:47Speaker 1: You're just you're What you're saying is stupid. Okay, you're
- 1:27:53Speaker 1: calling it a free ride. What's the free ride that
- 1:27:58Speaker 1: they don't have to pay? You're you're basing it on,
- 1:28:00Speaker 1: and you're basing it on financials. That's what you're basing
- 1:28:04Speaker 1: it on. That's the way. That's the way you've decided
- 1:28:08Speaker 1: that it's Uh, it's free right based on finances. So
- 1:28:13Speaker 1: if I make plenty of money to pay for everything,
- 1:28:16Speaker 1: and she can do whatever she wants with her money,
- 1:28:18Speaker 1: that's sexist or feminist or that's want to be able
- 1:28:22Speaker 1: to do that, And I can't because I gotta because
- 1:28:24Speaker 1: I'm already doing it, maybe because I want to, Maybe
- 1:28:30Speaker 1: because when you treat somebody like that, you'll realize that
- 1:28:34Speaker 1: they will do stuff for you because they want to.
- 1:28:38Speaker 2: You.
- 1:28:38Speaker 1: Guys want to keep score. So just because you can't
- 1:28:43Speaker 1: afford it and you need a woman's help, that's on you. Bro,
- 1:28:48Speaker 1: Maybe you should be a better man. It's not about
- 1:28:52Speaker 1: being sexist or feminist. It's about the idea that if
- 1:28:57Speaker 1: you do something for somebody because you want to do that,
- 1:29:03Speaker 1: they will do stuff for you because they want to
- 1:29:05Speaker 1: do it for you. She'll spend her money on stuff
- 1:29:13Speaker 1: for your relationship, trips, clothes, things like that. The core
- 1:29:22Speaker 1: for the house so you don't look like some you
- 1:29:24Speaker 1: don't have a sad house, don look like a frat house.
- 1:29:31Speaker 1: That's where That's where you're playing checkers and I'm playing chess.
- 1:29:35Speaker 1: Now you're in a relationship where people want to do
- 1:29:37Speaker 1: stuff for each other, not having to do stuff for
- 1:29:41Speaker 1: each other because we made rules
- 1:29:44Speaker 4: The morning every morning more
