- 0:00Speaker 1: The Twins were done, buried. It was over desperate times
- 0:04Speaker 1: after a heartbreaking, deflating sweep at the hands of the
- 0:08Speaker 1: Philadelphia Phillies these last few days. But then, of course,
- 0:11Speaker 1: what do they do Monday night? They come out and
- 0:13Speaker 1: beat an even better team in the National League, the
- 0:15Speaker 1: Atlanta Braves, four to two the final. In the opener,
- 0:18Speaker 1: the Twins got to sixty one and sixty five and
- 0:22Speaker 1: ended that that little losing streak. Just when you think
- 0:25Speaker 1: you've got it all figured out, baseball is just a
- 0:28Speaker 1: funny game. They come back and get that win. It's
- 0:30Speaker 1: just one win, just one win, but surely needed Dan I.
- 0:34Speaker 2: Would say, yeah, and look it took the words of
- 0:37Speaker 2: JFK to inspire that did.
- 0:39Speaker 1: That's really the truth.
- 0:43Speaker 2: I mean, they knew it as they went through and
- 0:45Speaker 2: loaded the bases in the eighth inning with no outs
- 0:48Speaker 2: and didn't score, even though their top three hitters in
- 0:51Speaker 2: the lineup were up and popped out twice in a row.
- 0:53Speaker 2: And did Jeffers strikeout or did he ground out? I
- 0:56Speaker 2: can't remember. Anyways, it was they challenged themselves and yet
- 1:01Speaker 2: they pulled it off. Great play by Cody Clemens defensively,
- 1:05Speaker 2: really good first inning rally. You know, Josh Bell got
- 1:07Speaker 2: that hit that we saw the Phillies get the day before,
- 1:11Speaker 2: the blooper down the right field line, off the opposite
- 1:13Speaker 2: the opposite way and it bounced into the stands for
- 1:15Speaker 2: a two run double. And then the pitching staff came
- 1:18Speaker 2: through Bailey over. They fouled off a lot of pitches.
- 1:21Speaker 2: They made him work. Caught up with them a little
- 1:23Speaker 2: bit in the fifth, but the bullpen really came through.
- 1:26Speaker 2: Four and two thirds scoreless from the bullpen combined. Travis
- 1:29Speaker 2: Adams looked awesome. He's he's had his moments at times,
- 1:32Speaker 2: and he was six up, six down, to the point
- 1:34Speaker 2: where they were thinking of three batters for him, but
- 1:37Speaker 2: he was so efficient in the first thing. They brought
- 1:38Speaker 2: him back for a second and really extended the bullpen
- 1:42Speaker 2: took gave guys the night off. That kind of thing.
- 1:45Speaker 2: It was a very good win and one of those
- 1:48Speaker 2: things they needed. And you know, they talk about it
- 1:51Speaker 2: all the time. They like each other and that's why
- 1:54Speaker 2: they can bounce back. They like coming to work, they
- 1:57Speaker 2: like trying to figure it out with each other. They
- 1:59Speaker 2: don't get down on each other. I think that's what's
- 2:01Speaker 2: helped them rebound. From numerous tough losses like gut punch,
- 2:06Speaker 2: body blow kind of losses that they've suffered throughout this
- 2:09Speaker 2: season and keeps them going. That's refreshing. I know that's
- 2:13Speaker 2: a word to describe this season. Is one of our
- 2:16Speaker 2: fan mail bag questions, but it's a refreshing aspect of
- 2:20Speaker 2: this team to see them handle you know, I don't know,
- 2:26Speaker 2: they just they seem to run into issues all the
- 2:29Speaker 2: time and they just kind of handle it very well.
- 2:33Speaker 2: And I know we're talking about middling team, a sixty one,
- 2:35Speaker 2: sixty five team, but it's still they definitely.
- 2:40Speaker 3: Gritty they are.
- 2:41Speaker 1: Yeah, this is a mail bag show. We will get
- 2:45Speaker 1: to that shortly. We just want to address Monday's game
- 2:47Speaker 1: as we take this here on this Tuesday afternoon, And
- 2:50Speaker 1: we spent part of the last show critiquing the decisions
- 2:53Speaker 1: to leave Connor Prelip and Dean Kramer in their games
- 2:58Speaker 1: against Philadelphia tigh. And then yesterday we saw Derek Shelton
- 3:02Speaker 1: get Bailey over out of there at the first sign
- 3:04Speaker 1: of trouble. Yeah, to Dan's point, he had worked up
- 3:06Speaker 1: a high pitch count of course.
- 3:08Speaker 4: Yeah, you know, Corey mentioned on the broadcast too. You know,
- 3:11Speaker 4: Bailey even when he first came up, it was it's
- 3:14Speaker 4: always been in the background of like injury stuff, things
- 3:16Speaker 4: like that. You know, the villa has been what it is.
- 3:19Speaker 4: It's it's who he's become at this point. And so
- 3:23Speaker 4: you know, to his defense and to Shelty's credit, like
- 3:26Speaker 4: you got to know your guy that you're working with.
- 3:28Speaker 4: You know, they probably have a great plan in place.
- 3:30Speaker 4: You know, they go into these games and Bailey knows that.
- 3:32Speaker 4: He's like, I'm third time through. I meant ninety ish pitches,
- 3:35Speaker 4: like that's kind of his runway, you know, but he's
- 3:39Speaker 4: he's pitching, and that's the beauty of it is it
- 3:42Speaker 4: didn't matter that he was thrown four seamers at eighty six.
- 3:45Speaker 4: Guys weren't squaring it up, and that's the only thing
- 3:47Speaker 4: that matters. And I think to that point too, Shelty
- 3:51Speaker 4: had those two games against Philly on the back of
- 3:53Speaker 4: his mind and he said, you know what, it's not
- 3:56Speaker 4: going to happen this time. You know, maybe that was
- 3:58Speaker 4: the thing, Maybe it wasn't. It was the right time
- 4:00Speaker 4: to get him out of there. They brought in the
- 4:02Speaker 4: right pieces and the bullpen bridged the gap, and that's
- 4:05Speaker 4: you know, the gonna be the name of the game.
- 4:06Speaker 4: But you know, as long as Joe's out, you're gonna
- 4:09Speaker 4: have to kind of make this thing.
- 4:11Speaker 3: Work any way possible. You know, it's.
- 4:14Speaker 4: Getting depth hasn't been happening a ton lately out of
- 4:17Speaker 4: the rotation, and so it's just one where I mean,
- 4:20Speaker 4: it always seems like it's all you're you're in the bullpen,
- 4:22Speaker 4: like you're always kind of gassed. It's never simple, but
- 4:25Speaker 4: it's one where they may have to lean on those
- 4:27Speaker 4: guys for a little bit. And once we get to
- 4:29Speaker 4: these series against teams that aren't so hot or such
- 4:32Speaker 4: high caliber, the starters can give the bullpen a rest.
- 4:35Speaker 4: But right now, it's all hands on deck from you know,
- 4:38Speaker 4: fourth inning on, and then that's baseball sometimes.
- 4:42Speaker 1: Zebi Matthews and Tyler Mally tonight and then Wednesday afternoon,
- 4:46Speaker 1: Taj Bradley. Uh did they scratch Chris Sale?
- 4:52Speaker 3: Did they really?
- 4:53Speaker 1: It's it's now Smith shaver On at least according to ESPN,
- 4:58Speaker 1: as the start.
- 4:59Speaker 4: I saw the idea if they Kenley, so maybe they're
- 5:02Speaker 4: just keeping him on a regular schedule.
- 5:06Speaker 2: That is an interesting I talked to Chris Sale.
- 5:09Speaker 3: Yeah, that's big for the boys.
- 5:10Speaker 1: That's what it is. Yeah, they they pushed him back
- 5:19Speaker 1: the I l Yeah. Okay, well that's a break for
- 5:21Speaker 1: the Twins.
- 5:22Speaker 3: There's a plus silver linings.
- 5:24Speaker 1: Not that any Braves game is easy, but Chris Sale
- 5:28Speaker 1: obviously having a fantastic gear the All Star.
- 5:31Speaker 3: Uh.
- 5:31Speaker 1: We'll be back with you on Thursday for a normal show,
- 5:33Speaker 1: will break down whatever happens the rest of the way
- 5:36Speaker 1: in this Brave series, but today is a mail bag show.
- 5:39Speaker 1: Thank you to everybody who submitted questions on x or
- 5:42Speaker 1: on our YouTube. We got to most of them, well hopefully,
- 5:45Speaker 1: hopefully we'll get through most of them today. But let's
- 5:48Speaker 1: get started now. Keep in mind, uh these were submitted
- 5:52Speaker 1: in the aftermath of the sweep, so some of them
- 5:54Speaker 1: are a little salty sounding. Uh So we'll start with
- 5:57Speaker 1: this one from jbs by fun season but it's over
- 6:02Speaker 1: right now, perhaps tongue in cheek at least to some extent.
- 6:09Speaker 1: I will lob this one to you Tyler to start.
- 6:12Speaker 1: This is a nice softball to get its going. Is
- 6:13Speaker 1: the season over?
- 6:16Speaker 2: It's not?
- 6:16Speaker 3: I mean no, it's not.
- 6:18Speaker 4: It is literally never over until you know you're mathematically out.
- 6:21Speaker 4: But with you know, Joe Ryan being out, you know, X,
- 6:27Speaker 4: Y and Z, you know, guys. Byron's kind of getting
- 6:29Speaker 4: go on, trying to get going again, like some of
- 6:32Speaker 4: your big pieces are not there right now, which is
- 6:34Speaker 4: what you need to make these pushes. You know, I'm
- 6:39Speaker 4: smiling because I'm like, you try to stay positive as
- 6:42Speaker 4: you can. But at the same time, we're playing teams
- 6:45Speaker 4: right now that are contenders, and if you can't hold
- 6:49Speaker 4: your owne against them, it's not a good sign for
- 6:52Speaker 4: what's to come. But at the same time, we've got
- 6:55Speaker 4: all these games against our own division that are stacked up,
- 6:59Speaker 4: and that's on a s at the end of the day,
- 7:00Speaker 4: what matters because if you beat the guys that are
- 7:02Speaker 4: ahead of you, it's it's that much better. And so
- 7:05Speaker 4: I think, you know, try to take these games with
- 7:08Speaker 4: the grain of salt because they are just these high
- 7:10Speaker 4: caliber NL teams. But it's a good test. It's good
- 7:14Speaker 4: to see kind of how you stack up. You know,
- 7:16Speaker 4: some of these games have been ugly, but like you
- 7:18Speaker 4: said last night, like they can hang. So it's just
- 7:22Speaker 4: try to keep positive mindset. But you know, a few
- 7:25Speaker 4: weeks from now, if this stuff's still happening, then yeah,
- 7:28Speaker 4: different conversation yeah.
- 7:30Speaker 2: This, here'sh I was just here. I'm gonna give a
- 7:33Speaker 2: quick answer, go for it very quick.
- 7:35Speaker 3: Yep.
- 7:37Speaker 2: Like it should be. It should have been a thousand times.
- 7:41Speaker 2: But the AL sucks. They are a half game out
- 7:44Speaker 2: in the wildcard.
- 7:44Speaker 1: Here's why it's not over. Here's why it's not over
- 7:48Speaker 1: because there is currently a three way tie for the
- 7:52Speaker 1: final wildcard in the American League at sixty one and
- 7:55Speaker 1: sixty four, Orioles, Rangers, Tigers, Twins half game back with
- 7:59Speaker 1: the Blue Guardians and a half game back of that
- 8:02Speaker 1: Mariners one game back of that. You have seven teams
- 8:04Speaker 1: within two games of that final wildcard spot, and every
- 8:08Speaker 1: team on that list, including the Yankees and Red Socks
- 8:10Speaker 1: except for the Blue Jays, has had a losing record
- 8:12Speaker 1: in the last ten days. So it's it's it's not
- 8:18Speaker 1: great in the American League. For that reason why it's
- 8:21Speaker 1: not over, And like, the Twins have some tough games
- 8:24Speaker 1: on the schedule for sure, but so to all the
- 8:26Speaker 1: rest of those teams. There's a lot of games against
- 8:28Speaker 1: each other in there. Obviously there's division rivalries. The Blue
- 8:32Speaker 1: Jays and the Orioles have to play in the AL East,
- 8:34Speaker 1: so a lot of tough games for them. The Twins
- 8:37Speaker 1: will play Texas still, so there's there's a lot of
- 8:41Speaker 1: direct opportunity to influence those standings. Obviously, the Twins will
- 8:44Speaker 1: play Tigers and Guardians as well coming up, so there
- 8:48Speaker 1: are there are going to be some interesting games from
- 8:54Speaker 1: teams who are under five hundred right now. And like
- 8:57Speaker 1: I think we've kind of been this whole season, the
- 9:00Speaker 1: Twins has been hanging around that area and we've been
- 9:02Speaker 1: like someone's going to win it, and maybe someone will
- 9:06Speaker 1: make a move, but really the bar has only dropped.
- 9:10Speaker 1: Like the we're now three games under five hundred is
- 9:12Speaker 1: a playoff team in the American League. There's still time
- 9:15Speaker 1: for somebody to make a run in a good couple
- 9:17Speaker 1: of weeks could change everything. And there's again seven teams
- 9:20Speaker 1: that might do it, so it's a lot of competition.
- 9:22Speaker 2: But like eighty one wins may snag that spot, really
- 9:27Speaker 2: eighty one wins might be enough to do it. That
- 9:30Speaker 2: might even be high. Like both you're talking about three
- 9:34Speaker 2: teams or three games under five hundred. If you get
- 9:37Speaker 2: to five hundred, you got a shot, so hey, and
- 9:41Speaker 2: would it'd be interesting and you know, you want to
- 9:45Speaker 2: know that matchup but man in is in. It does
- 9:48Speaker 2: not matter.
- 9:49Speaker 1: It's definitely not over. If you like what you hear,
- 9:52Speaker 1: please toss us alike or subscribe however you watch or listen.
- 9:55Speaker 1: If you're on YouTube right now, there's a QR code
- 9:58Speaker 1: on your screen to make it nice and easy. We're
- 10:01Speaker 1: going to take a quick break. Get back to your
- 10:02Speaker 1: questions right after this.

- 11:07Speaker 1: Got my daughter's lunch on the table. Feeling like a.
- 11:10Speaker 2: Better Dasker alien, sir.
- 11:14Speaker 1: I went to tell her I was gonna record and
- 11:16Speaker 1: you know, if she needed to she needed me to
- 11:17Speaker 1: come get me. She very sadly, was like, well, can
- 11:20Speaker 1: I have lunch? I'm like, I haven't made you lunch yet. Goodness,
- 11:23Speaker 1: so crisis averted. Anyway, that's not what you're here for.
- 11:27Speaker 1: More questions from the mail bag from you guys. The
- 11:30Speaker 1: next one on our list here is from Derek, ironically
- 11:35Speaker 1: asking is Shelton Derek Shelton the manager on the hot seat?
- 11:38Speaker 1: What are the terms of his deal? I'll kick that
- 11:41Speaker 1: one to you, Dan.
- 11:43Speaker 2: We never got terms of his deal. I will say that,
- 11:46Speaker 2: and the answer is no, he's not on.
- 11:48Speaker 3: The hot seat. Absolutely not.
- 11:50Speaker 2: No, no, no, I know who asked the question. No,
- 11:55Speaker 2: leave it alone. No's he's getting the most out of
- 11:58Speaker 2: this team. This is a team with like functionally had
- 12:01Speaker 2: a seventy one million dollar payroll after Pablo Lopez went down.
- 12:04Speaker 2: Thirty million of their payroll was Carlos Korea and Pablo
- 12:08Speaker 2: Lopez of the one hundred and one million dollars. They're
- 12:11Speaker 2: in the playoff race. No, Derek Shelton has done a
- 12:13Speaker 2: good job. This team is like this team was, has
- 12:17Speaker 2: dealt with so much stuff. No, he is not on
- 12:19Speaker 2: the hot seat. Let's just move on.
- 12:23Speaker 3: No, I'm going to help you out on that.
- 12:25Speaker 4: And the fact that he said we said postgame doubles
- 12:28Speaker 4: down the fact that absolutely not. He's like now putting
- 12:31Speaker 4: his own guys, like, hey guys, this is on y'all
- 12:33Speaker 4: because I'm doing my job.
- 12:35Speaker 3: You got to do more. Let's let's go.
- 12:37Speaker 2: Yeah, yes, let's go to the very last question. Can
- 12:41Speaker 2: you pull up the very last one? Because I loved
- 12:43Speaker 2: that question.
- 12:44Speaker 1: Yeah, it's it's it's related because mister Shelton was a
- 12:47Speaker 1: little frustrated after the sweep, and Drew Lyon on YouTube asked, Hey, Dan,
- 12:53Speaker 1: as a reporter, how do you navigate engaging with a
- 12:56Speaker 1: manager who's obviously upset and doesn't want to talk like
- 12:59Speaker 1: Shelton Yet today that postgame press are clocked in at
- 13:02Speaker 1: sixty nine seconds.
- 13:05Speaker 2: Nice, that wasn't his shortest press conference this year. We're
- 13:09Speaker 2: you kind of get used to it, like it is tricky,
- 13:12Speaker 2: you know on the days when he's going to be
- 13:16Speaker 2: frustrated and terse, and so look, short questions, don't go
- 13:21Speaker 2: too long, don't grandstand ask just be direct, be honest,
- 13:26Speaker 2: go right at it. On the road. I have like
- 13:29Speaker 2: there's times when I'm the only one on the road
- 13:31Speaker 2: in the clubhouse for the postgame session, or maybe me
- 13:35Speaker 2: and a rookie reporter from MLB if Matthew Leech isn't there,
- 13:39Speaker 2: and you just know that you ask short questions and losses,
- 13:45Speaker 2: and you can ask about the tough moments, but because
- 13:48Speaker 2: he does know to expect them. But just don't go
- 13:51Speaker 2: long winded. And that's why the press conferences are so short.
- 13:55Speaker 2: Our questions are short too, and they generate short answers.
- 13:59Speaker 2: But also they the key thing is, don't take it personal,
- 14:02Speaker 2: because you know it isn't really you. I mean, like
- 14:05Speaker 2: maybe it's your position in general in life. You should
- 14:07Speaker 2: be questioning that because he's like the media scum except
- 14:11Speaker 2: he doesn't he's but but but like it's not anything
- 14:16Speaker 2: to take personal. It's just you're gonna get snapped at
- 14:19Speaker 2: at times. It comes with territory. So not no, not
- 14:26Speaker 2: just from Shelta oh Man.
- 14:29Speaker 1: Good or bad. Time to ask him if he's on
- 14:30Speaker 1: the hot seat when he's in that moody.
- 14:36Speaker 3: Try it tonight, let us know it goes Yeah, okay, yeah.
- 14:41Speaker 2: All right.
- 14:41Speaker 1: Moving on a couple emphatic answers from Dan' see how
- 14:45Speaker 1: we can follow that up. Brian Parlan asks why are
- 14:48Speaker 1: the Twins keeping their best overall player in the minors,
- 14:53Speaker 1: of course, referring to I'm assuming Walker Jenkins. Dan, you've
- 14:57Speaker 1: answered this before. I think you feel free to repeat
- 15:02Speaker 1: it because it's always worth hearing again. But it does
- 15:04Speaker 1: seem like are are there are there roster manipulation factors
- 15:11Speaker 1: at play beyond just the thing you've said before.
- 15:14Speaker 2: Take no, and I would say on that their best
- 15:19Speaker 2: overall prospect is being kept in the miners, not their
- 15:22Speaker 2: best overall player. Like there's this, there's Luke Keishall is
- 15:26Speaker 2: a better player than Walker Jenkins is right now, He's
- 15:28Speaker 2: accomplished at the major league level. Barn Buckston. They're like, look,
- 15:32Speaker 2: I get the frustration over Walker Jenkins not being here,
- 15:34Speaker 2: but like, Okay, look, Trevor Lawrence can play against righty's
- 15:38Speaker 2: all the time. Right, that's just a fact. He hits
- 15:41Speaker 2: well against righteyes. Byron Buckson is going to play every day,
- 15:44Speaker 2: Luke Keishall is going to play every day. Where is
- 15:46Speaker 2: Walker Jenkins going to play? You can to displace any
- 15:49Speaker 2: of those guys for a rookie, and the goal is
- 15:53Speaker 2: to keep Walker Jenkins playing every day. He has so
- 15:57Speaker 2: little experience because of injuries over the last couple of
- 15:59Speaker 2: years that he needs to be on the field and learning.
- 16:04Speaker 2: He's doing a very good job since he's come back
- 16:06Speaker 2: this last time from the injury. His ops is good.
- 16:09Speaker 2: It's he's stacking at bats. It's good. He's had some power.
- 16:13Speaker 2: That's good. They need him to keep doing that and
- 16:16Speaker 2: force the issue. But there's just not like they don't
- 16:19Speaker 2: want to bring him up to sit and have him
- 16:22Speaker 2: sit three times a week because they think that wouldn't
- 16:24Speaker 2: be beneficial. And you're not taking Josh Bell out of
- 16:27Speaker 2: the h spot. And if you are, it's because you're
- 16:29Speaker 2: putting Byron bucks in there for a day or you're
- 16:31Speaker 2: putting Ryan Jeffers there for a day. It's it's hard
- 16:36Speaker 2: to function in this lineup the way it's built, and
- 16:39Speaker 2: so I get why you want Walker Jenkins here. He's
- 16:43Speaker 2: looks like he's going to be a stud. But also
- 16:45Speaker 2: I do think the other part of it is is
- 16:47Speaker 2: trying to manage two rookies at once can be challenging.
- 16:50Speaker 2: Like Kevin Culpeper's going to play five days out of
- 16:52Speaker 2: seven and you've got to kind of keep an eye
- 16:55Speaker 2: on him and make sure he is developing as you
- 16:58Speaker 2: keep going. Like Kennel, I end up function with two
- 17:01Speaker 2: rookies learning their way in a Pennant race. That's a
- 17:04Speaker 2: real big ask. It's not saying it couldn't be done.
- 17:06Speaker 2: They're both talented enough to do it, there's no question.
- 17:09Speaker 2: But I think just given how it is, and I
- 17:11Speaker 2: know the reason why it gets to ask this because
- 17:14Speaker 2: Alex Jackson, the fit doesn't look great and the roster
- 17:18Speaker 2: Alex Jackson's now played an eight of thirty games. He's
- 17:21Speaker 2: been on the roster since Ryan Jeffers came off the aisle.
- 17:24Speaker 2: They're not going to use him in the outfield, so
- 17:25Speaker 2: he's strictly a right handed bat and basically insurance to
- 17:29Speaker 2: use Jeffers more liberally however you want to and carroteeny
- 17:33Speaker 2: at first, but like they were in a weird spot.
- 17:37Speaker 2: Gabby Gonzalez and Alex Jackson were the only two real
- 17:40Speaker 2: guys on the forty man with right handed bat potential,
- 17:44Speaker 2: and you lose Austin Martin. I just don't think they
- 17:46Speaker 2: think Austin Martin's could be gone that long. So when
- 17:48Speaker 2: he comes back, like you really bring a Walker Jenkins
- 17:51Speaker 2: up for ten days to play four times or five times.
- 17:54Speaker 2: It's challenging and it's not an easy puzzle. So it's
- 17:59Speaker 2: understandable why people want to see him. He's a stud, uh,
- 18:02Speaker 2: but also you know it just it's not a cut
- 18:06Speaker 2: and dried answer.
- 18:08Speaker 1: Forgot to address that at the top of the show.
- 18:09Speaker 1: Alex Jackson back on the team and the Austin Martin injury.
- 18:13Speaker 1: But yes, ten day, I l like he never left
- 18:15Speaker 1: for Austin Mark like he never left, never left. Well,
- 18:20Speaker 1: how about we move on from Walker Jenkins. Stephen b
- 18:23Speaker 1: wants to know what prospects besides him would you like
- 18:26Speaker 1: to see get a chance on the main roster before
- 18:29Speaker 1: the end of the season, Tyler, anyone catching your eye?
- 18:33Speaker 3: I don't know, I mean the one I don't know
- 18:35Speaker 3: what he's been doing.
- 18:36Speaker 4: Now, and I know he's not a prospect at this point,
- 18:39Speaker 4: but kind of following up the previous question, Walner's been
- 18:43Speaker 4: down there, he's about to set a home run record
- 18:45Speaker 4: for Saint Paul, and like for the International League, I think.
- 18:48Speaker 3: Like he's he's doing his job as well.
- 18:51Speaker 4: And so to that point about Jenkins, it's like, you know,
- 18:55Speaker 4: all right, we have the guy who's been here, who's
- 18:57Speaker 4: tearing the cover off the ball and triple light, right,
- 18:59Speaker 4: we have the young kid who might not handle it well,
- 19:03Speaker 4: might not get to play every day. He's going to
- 19:05Speaker 4: lose the momentum that he has there. You know, there's
- 19:08Speaker 4: just it's hard. It's so hard to know who's the
- 19:10Speaker 4: right or wrong piece at the time because it's often
- 19:13Speaker 4: so much injury based. Like you know, I've told so
- 19:16Speaker 4: many people my first call ups were it's all luck
- 19:18Speaker 4: and timing. It's not necessarily where their team needs to
- 19:22Speaker 4: or wants to. It's because they have to when they
- 19:24Speaker 4: make these moves with with prospects especially, you know, it's
- 19:28Speaker 4: it's either a guy who just can't play anymore and
- 19:30Speaker 4: they got to get them out of there, things like that.
- 19:32Speaker 4: So it's right now they have a great group in place.
- 19:37Speaker 4: You know, everybody wants more production. Who doesn't You know,
- 19:39Speaker 4: the Yankees and Dodgers are still trying to get there too.
- 19:42Speaker 4: Like it's that every team is trying to get better.
- 19:44Speaker 4: But is that worth risking, you know, calling up a
- 19:48Speaker 4: second rookie to force them into a game and then
- 19:51Speaker 4: have it go horribly and then you have to option them.
- 19:53Speaker 4: It just it can get really bad quickly. You know,
- 19:56Speaker 4: it's a fast paced game, and you know it's just fun.
- 19:59Speaker 4: It's like I said, there, you've got good options, but
- 20:02Speaker 4: unless you have to make a move, you just don't
- 20:04Speaker 4: want to.
- 20:04Speaker 2: Sometimes when the rosters expand to twenty eight and you
- 20:09Speaker 2: get one more position player. If Emmanuel Rodriguez is healthy,
- 20:13Speaker 2: could we see him? That'd be interesting. He's on the
- 20:15Speaker 2: forty man. He is out of options after this year,
- 20:19Speaker 2: so this is the only time you'll get, like he's
- 20:21Speaker 2: going to have to be on the major league roster
- 20:23Speaker 2: on opening day next year. You cannot option him or
- 20:25Speaker 2: you'll have to dfah. So like that, it speaks to
- 20:30Speaker 2: his injury. It speaks to his injury was that he's
- 20:35Speaker 2: had over his career. He just came back from a
- 20:38Speaker 2: thumb injury, like August one. He's played eleven games since
- 20:43Speaker 2: then between Cedar Rapids and you know, maybe he came
- 20:46Speaker 2: back a little bit sorry end of July he played
- 20:49Speaker 2: at Fort Myers first, but he's played fourteen games since
- 20:53Speaker 2: basically right before the trade deadline. It's the most he's
- 20:56Speaker 2: played all season. Would he make sense? I think he
- 21:00Speaker 2: would make sense because he is on the forty man.
- 21:02Speaker 2: Walker Jenkins isn't on the forty man, which would make
- 21:05Speaker 2: him if they don't bring Walker Jenkins up, that means
- 21:08Speaker 2: he's eligible to play at Triple A again next year,
- 21:10Speaker 2: even if there's a lockout, because guys not on the
- 21:12Speaker 2: forty man can play in the minor leagues, and Walker
- 21:15Speaker 2: Jenkins needs that playing time. So that makes me think
- 21:19Speaker 2: that that's a factor in it. You know, Manu Rodriguez
- 21:23Speaker 2: is hitting well enough to strike out to walk is clean,
- 21:26Speaker 2: not a lot of power since he came back, and
- 21:27Speaker 2: it's a thumb injury and it has definitely bugged him
- 21:30Speaker 2: for a while. But that's who I would think would
- 21:33Speaker 2: be the prospect, the highest on that list we might
- 21:36Speaker 2: see would be him if he can stay on the field.
- 21:39Speaker 1: That was part of what I met with the roster
- 21:41Speaker 1: manipulation comment the whole Yeah, forty man.
- 21:45Speaker 3: Well and that makes that's the big what the fifty
- 21:47Speaker 3: thousand foot view for next year for Jenkins, it's like
- 21:51Speaker 3: you know they start as clock and then he can't
- 21:53Speaker 3: play next year, Like that's that's a huge thing.
- 21:55Speaker 2: Yeah, guys, And if Buckston, Look, if Buckston got hurt
- 21:59Speaker 2: and was out for the seas in, maybe then Walker
- 22:02Speaker 2: Jenkins that's maybe that's where you see him come up.
- 22:05Speaker 2: That would be the slot, even though they don't want
- 22:07Speaker 2: him to have to come up and save the season. Essentially,
- 22:09Speaker 2: that's what you'd be asking him to do if Bucks
- 22:11Speaker 2: then went out for the season. But they haven't gotten there,
- 22:16Speaker 2: and I think the idea of having him be able
- 22:18Speaker 2: to play next April, regardless if there's a lockout going
- 22:21Speaker 2: on or not, is a motivating factor for a guy
- 22:25Speaker 2: who has had trouble staying on the field for whatever
- 22:27Speaker 2: series of injuries. As well a few.
- 22:30Speaker 1: More questions to go or right after this.
- 22:34Speaker 6: Sea gek is the official ticket marketplace for Major League Baseball,
- 22:37Speaker 6: and anytime you want to go to a game, you
- 22:39Speaker 6: should go to Seakeek. I used to call the director
- 22:41Speaker 6: of team Travel. I used to call the traveling secretary
- 22:43Speaker 6: whatever they want to be called KP to try to
- 22:46Speaker 6: get a seat. But on sea, Geek, I can pick
- 22:48Speaker 6: my own seat, and I can pick where I want
- 22:50Speaker 6: to sit instead of being told where to sit.
- 22:53Speaker 3: Yeah, it's a great option.
- 22:55Speaker 7: And summer is coming to an end here soon. I'm
- 22:58Speaker 7: going out and finding all the day games possible, all
- 23:02Speaker 7: the warm weather cities so I could stay in this
- 23:05Speaker 7: tank top I can watch very competitive baseball as the
- 23:09Speaker 7: calendar turns in two fall. I want to make sure
- 23:11Speaker 7: that I get the most out of this tank top
- 23:15Speaker 7: and warm weather and see, geek is where I would
- 23:17Speaker 7: go and get my seats.
- 23:18Speaker 6: You can use code territory ten for ten percent off
- 23:21Speaker 6: your next set of MLB tickets at SIK. That's ten
- 23:24Speaker 6: percent off MLB tickets with promo code territory ten. Make
- 23:27Speaker 6: sure you click the link in the description to download
- 23:30Speaker 6: the app and have the code automatically added to your
- 23:32Speaker 6: account so you can use it later.
- 23:36Speaker 1: All right, we're back. Nice fun one. Next up it
- 23:40Speaker 1: is from Ed. Question is what adjectives best described this
- 23:44Speaker 1: twin season and why? And we will start because I
- 23:47Speaker 1: know he already has one qu'ed up. We'll start with
- 23:49Speaker 1: Dan and give Tyler and I an extra minute to
- 23:51Speaker 1: think about it.
- 23:52Speaker 2: I mean refreshing, Like refreshing is good, Like this was
- 23:56Speaker 2: going to be a trying season. Everybody knew it. I
- 23:59Speaker 2: still think if if you went back to the first
- 24:01Speaker 2: episodes that nobody was watching except Zach's and my dad,
- 24:07Speaker 2: we were in that seventy eight to seventy nine win
- 24:10Speaker 2: range when the over underline was like seventy two and
- 24:14Speaker 2: a half, So I think we were more optimistic. But
- 24:16Speaker 2: even so, like the way this has come about, where
- 24:18Speaker 2: the offense has been. You know, obviously last month has
- 24:21Speaker 2: been a little slower, especially with Fire and Bucks and
- 24:24Speaker 2: not performing at the level he had been before before
- 24:27Speaker 2: the injury. But that aside, this has been a fun
- 24:31Speaker 2: season and this is a team that I feel like people.
- 24:36Speaker 2: There's been a lot of frustration involved, especially with the
- 24:38Speaker 2: bullpen struggles early on, but they just keep fighting and
- 24:42Speaker 2: they keep going, and it's like it's a team that's
- 24:45Speaker 2: endearing to fans that the ones who are really paying
- 24:48Speaker 2: attention and watching I think probably enjoy this. I know
- 24:51Speaker 2: they get frustrated, because man, it would be great if
- 24:54Speaker 2: it was sixty five and sixty one instead of sixty
- 24:56Speaker 2: one and sixty five. But there's a lot to like
- 24:58Speaker 2: about this and so I'll stick with refreshing.
- 25:02Speaker 3: Yeah, I kind of said it earlier.
- 25:04Speaker 4: I think the gritty description fits really well between I mean,
- 25:10Speaker 4: starting with the spring training, you know, guys getting injured,
- 25:13Speaker 4: you know, had Able go down early. You've had Pablo,
- 25:16Speaker 4: you know he's out for the year. You've had guys
- 25:18Speaker 4: off and on the deal all season. It's been the
- 25:21Speaker 4: next man up mentality pretty much out of the gate,
- 25:24Speaker 4: and they've had all to come from behind, wins, you know,
- 25:28Speaker 4: go through the bad stretches, come out of it. It's
- 25:30Speaker 4: just it's been a never ending kind of cycle of like,
- 25:33Speaker 4: all right, how are we going to get this done?
- 25:35Speaker 4: And they've done it, and they've gotten better. The rookies
- 25:38Speaker 4: that were settling in, they're they're getting tougher and tougher
- 25:41Speaker 4: and learning themselves in the big leagues and learning how
- 25:45Speaker 4: to excel and place seventeen different positions and all this stuff.
- 25:49Speaker 4: It's just they've they've had all the trials you could
- 25:51Speaker 4: have to this point, and you know it's it's going
- 25:54Speaker 4: to come together here in the last stretch for the
- 25:57Speaker 4: end of the season, and you know it's just and there.
- 26:00Speaker 4: It's been grit all year. I mean, just somebody find out,
- 26:03Speaker 4: find a way, step up, do your job today and win.
- 26:07Speaker 2: You know.
- 26:07Speaker 3: And like Dan's point, it's endearing to fans.
- 26:10Speaker 4: It's a team that they can't quit on because you
- 26:12Speaker 4: go take a shower, they're going to score some runs
- 26:14Speaker 4: and win.
- 26:15Speaker 1: Who would do that?
- 26:16Speaker 2: Speaking, Yeah, no, Zach, have you do you know what
- 26:18Speaker 2: that fan with that fan he might describe it as
- 26:22Speaker 2: like the guy that said they should trade everybody and
- 26:25Speaker 2: the guy that took a shower.
- 26:27Speaker 1: I don't have that kind of insight into his mind.
- 26:29Speaker 1: How I would describe it. I've been having trouble with
- 26:31Speaker 1: this question.
- 26:31Speaker 3: Actually, mh.
- 26:33Speaker 1: I'm trying to find the right word roller coaster contradictory.
- 26:38Speaker 1: It's like it's like two things are true at the
- 26:42Speaker 1: same time. Always with this team like that, I think
- 26:46Speaker 1: everything this guy said is spot on, Like they were
- 26:48Speaker 1: not supposed to be competitive and they are, but they're
- 26:51Speaker 1: competitive because the league stinks because and just and despite that,
- 26:57Speaker 1: there's still a lot of angst out there in the
- 26:58Speaker 1: fan base, and obviously the field still isn't getting filled up,
- 27:02Speaker 1: and you know, there's they didn't trade people the way
- 27:05Speaker 1: at this time, but also didn't really do much and
- 27:09Speaker 1: are they going to do more or not? There's just
- 27:10Speaker 1: sort of this limbo maybe that's more the right word.
- 27:14Speaker 1: They're just they're in this weird in between phase where
- 27:16Speaker 1: like it seems like there's promising things being teased that,
- 27:21Speaker 1: but no one seems to trust that it's actually going
- 27:24Speaker 1: to get there, which given the history of pro sport
- 27:27Speaker 1: in this state since nineteen ninety one, at least on
- 27:29Speaker 1: the men's side, you can't really blame them for So
- 27:33Speaker 1: that was not a good answer at all, But that's
- 27:34Speaker 1: the answer.
- 27:35Speaker 2: No, that was great. That's yeah, that was actually summed
- 27:39Speaker 2: it up perfectly.
- 27:40Speaker 1: Thank you, better than that guy took a shower could
- 27:43Speaker 1: ever come up with. I'm sure. Yeah, I guess that's
- 27:47Speaker 1: a good segue into this one from Brock. Do you
- 27:51Speaker 1: think they might spend some money in this offseason with
- 27:53Speaker 1: Tom Pohlad taking over? That obviously is the next big question.
- 28:00Speaker 1: Said all the right things, Dan, it certainly seems like
- 28:02Speaker 1: he's poised to do that, and I think we'd all
- 28:04Speaker 1: agree that he should probably follow up on those words
- 28:08Speaker 1: if he's going to be out there and seeing him.
- 28:10Speaker 1: But yeah, it seems like all science points to yes,
- 28:12Speaker 1: that they intend to look to do that.
- 28:15Speaker 2: That's the indications I've gotten also though, I mean, and
- 28:19Speaker 2: I don't think we'll have a salary cap. I just
- 28:21Speaker 2: there's no way that's happening. But is there gonna be
- 28:23Speaker 2: a salary floor potentially? Yeah, so that might force them
- 28:27Speaker 2: into spending more as it is, But I think the
- 28:30Speaker 2: goal for him is he said it. We had that
- 28:34Speaker 2: breakfast with him a little more than a month ago,
- 28:37Speaker 2: and he said at it that the Padres are maybe,
- 28:41Speaker 2: and the Padres are I think the version that's like
- 28:47Speaker 2: pumped up a little too much, maybe like the steroid
- 28:49Speaker 2: version of what they see themselves as. But the Padres
- 28:53Speaker 2: are certainly a model. They've seen the way that fans
- 28:56Speaker 2: are responding. I mean, we're going there on Friday and
- 28:59Speaker 2: there will be fourty thousand people all weekend for all
- 29:02Speaker 2: three games. I used to cover the Padres back in
- 29:05Speaker 2: two thousand and seven to twenty twelve, the Dodgers were
- 29:08Speaker 2: the only team that would draw forty thousand, and the
- 29:10Speaker 2: Giants when the Giants were good, those are the only
- 29:13Speaker 2: teams that would draw forty thousand. When we were there
- 29:16Speaker 2: two years ago, the Twins were in on a Monday night,
- 29:19Speaker 2: and look, I enjoy covering the Twins. I like, I
- 29:24Speaker 2: very much enjoy the product. The Twins are not a
- 29:26Speaker 2: draw all right. The Twins are the team where when
- 29:29Speaker 2: you come to town, the opposing team gives away a
- 29:32Speaker 2: bunch of gives away, a bunch of like good giveaways.
- 29:36Speaker 2: That's bubblehead night, right. I have stacks full of babbleheads
- 29:40Speaker 2: because of nights where we got them too. And the
- 29:45Speaker 2: Twins came in Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday night last time and
- 29:47Speaker 2: sold out every night. The Padres like, it's hard not
- 29:51Speaker 2: to look at that situation, go, yes, that's what we
- 29:53Speaker 2: would like to be. Padres have drawn three million fans
- 29:55Speaker 2: a couple times in a row, and the Twins see
- 29:58Speaker 2: that as a spot where they'd like to. Now three million,
- 30:01Speaker 2: that's very optimistic. The Twins have hit three million either
- 30:06Speaker 2: three or four times in their history. But two point
- 30:09Speaker 2: five million, that's a sweet spot. That's where you're looking good.
- 30:13Speaker 2: How do you get there? You get there through spending,
- 30:15Speaker 2: You get there by being aggressive. You get there by
- 30:18Speaker 2: making your fans believe that you have a chance. And
- 30:21Speaker 2: I think that's what the ideal is. And there are
- 30:24Speaker 2: enough players that are cheap on the roster right now
- 30:27Speaker 2: that are early in their careers, the brooks Leaves, the
- 30:30Speaker 2: Luke Keyshaws, the Connor prelipse. Everywhere you look there's affordable
- 30:34Speaker 2: young talent where you can spend around it and augment
- 30:38Speaker 2: that roster and not have to break the bank. But
- 30:40Speaker 2: still if you can spend responsibly, and I think he
- 30:43Speaker 2: sees that. I think he looks at that this would
- 30:45Speaker 2: not be a thin team with the amount of young
- 30:48Speaker 2: talent that they have where they could go out and
- 30:50Speaker 2: spend on four or five guys that good. You know,
- 30:54Speaker 2: just how many times have we seen it where it's like, oh,
- 30:56Speaker 2: Sunny Gray is making twenty five million, and that's actually
- 30:59Speaker 2: about what a really good starter shouldn't make. But that's
- 31:03Speaker 2: way out of their price range, and that needs to
- 31:05Speaker 2: start being more in their price range where they take
- 31:07Speaker 2: shots occasionally on those guys, but they have to be
- 31:09Speaker 2: right when they spend, and they know they have to
- 31:12Speaker 2: be right, So it's tricky. You also have to convince
- 31:15Speaker 2: those guys to want to come here. That's tricky. It's
- 31:19Speaker 2: not the easiest thing. Just throwing money out there is
- 31:21Speaker 2: not the easiest thing, and so you know, maybe it's
- 31:25Speaker 2: trading for guys that have big contracts and bringing them in,
- 31:29Speaker 2: but I do think there will be more spending.
- 31:32Speaker 1: To be fair, I would watch, I'd go to the
- 31:34Speaker 1: Padres Park to watch, like Paint Dry. I mean, it's
- 31:37Speaker 1: just always.
- 31:38Speaker 2: Perfect, amazing, right, it's beautiful.
- 31:39Speaker 3: Yeah, well it's.
- 31:40Speaker 2: Way better now. It's so much better now with all
- 31:43Speaker 2: those fans. I got to tell you, it was pretty
- 31:45Speaker 2: boring at times in twenty seventy tw twelve because it
- 31:48Speaker 2: was a run prevention ballpark at the time, and it's
- 31:50Speaker 2: still is pretty pitcher friendly. But like the alphase, yeah, o,
- 31:57Speaker 2: the brown dress are amazing. But the balls went to
- 32:00Speaker 2: die in that outfield. But and the crowds were just stale.
- 32:04Speaker 2: It was so boring, my goodness, not the same.
- 32:08Speaker 1: It was easy to get in and get a good
- 32:10Speaker 1: seat though, so that part was good for those of
- 32:12Speaker 1: that was great.
- 32:13Speaker 2: And their beer list is amazing and their foodless is
- 32:15Speaker 2: even better, like fish tacas at the ball shrimp tacos
- 32:18Speaker 2: at the ballpark. Oh give me that.
- 32:21Speaker 3: Some fresh Minnetonka shrimp.
- 32:23Speaker 1: Yes, the last question on here you kind of already
- 32:28Speaker 1: addressed it, Dan, but it's from Wyatt asking h if
- 32:32Speaker 1: with the recent proposal of the salary floor, if we
- 32:34Speaker 1: think the twins would basically just spend to the floor
- 32:37Speaker 1: or if they would try to go above and how
- 32:40Speaker 1: they'd get there? I think you you pretty well answered that,
- 32:42Speaker 1: but I just wanted to throw it up on the screen.
- 32:44Speaker 1: So whyatt knows we did address this question? Does does
- 32:48Speaker 1: educate me? How DoD Does the lockout play a role
- 32:50Speaker 1: in this? Do you is it? Is it a built
- 32:52Speaker 1: in excuse to not spend if if things are not.
- 32:56Speaker 2: No, I think they need I think I directly asked
- 32:59Speaker 2: uh Tom pull of that at the breakfast. I was like, hey,
- 33:01Speaker 2: look if the like what if the business sucks? What
- 33:04Speaker 2: if people don't come out? What if the TV ratings
- 33:06Speaker 2: are not good? And does that impact where you guys
- 33:10Speaker 2: want to head? And he said you can't. He said
- 33:12Speaker 2: it's in if you. He thinks it's a build it
- 33:15Speaker 2: and they will come situation not a He does not
- 33:18Speaker 2: see it as something where the business, the winning has
- 33:21Speaker 2: to happen first and bring the fans on board. It's
- 33:24Speaker 2: more they you have to go after it and prove
- 33:27Speaker 2: to those fans. And look, this is all stuff that
- 33:31Speaker 2: really they've never said before on the record, and so
- 33:33Speaker 2: it's it's new, and it is understandably the skepticism from
- 33:40Speaker 2: Twins fans who are seeing forty years this ownership group
- 33:44Speaker 2: should be high, Like I, Zach, I'm guessing you hear it,
- 33:47Speaker 2: and you're like, okay, it's words. Back those words up right,
- 33:51Speaker 2: Like otherwise it's just hollow words from a group that's
- 33:55Speaker 2: tried to move them, con track them, you know, moving
- 33:59Speaker 2: the ballpark and and things will be better. And you know,
- 34:03Speaker 2: I understand that. So they got to look.
- 34:06Speaker 1: There's also there's also the problem that when they have
- 34:09Speaker 1: done it, when they have spent big, it usually hasn't
- 34:11Speaker 1: worked out super great.
- 34:12Speaker 2: Like maybe yeah, Joe Mauer and Justin Moore, No, like
- 34:16Speaker 2: a couple of years into target Field really screwed up
- 34:19Speaker 2: the when you lose your franchise, guys, that that really
- 34:22Speaker 2: kills the plan, especially with the money Joe Mauer was
- 34:25Speaker 2: making with compared with the rest of the roster. But
- 34:29Speaker 2: their their payrolls in those three years. The first three
- 34:32Speaker 2: years of target Field were ninth, tenth, and eleventh in
- 34:35Speaker 2: the majors, and they drew three million fans in two
- 34:38Speaker 2: of those years. They need to get back there. They
- 34:40Speaker 2: need to figure out a way to you know, not
- 34:43Speaker 2: not ninth, tenth and eleventh, that would they can't afford that.
- 34:46Speaker 2: But I mean, but get back to where it's spending.
- 34:49Speaker 2: And yeah, well the Padres, the Padres had that two
- 34:53Speaker 2: everybody looked at that two twenty four and the Patres
- 34:55Speaker 2: had two undred forty eight or in twenty twenty three,
- 34:57Speaker 2: the Potter's had two hundred forty eight million dollars payroll. Uh,
- 35:01Speaker 2: it got quickly trimmed and they're around two hundred and
- 35:04Speaker 2: two million. Now that's that fifty million is says a lot.
- 35:08Speaker 2: They were one eighty four after that too, like the
- 35:11Speaker 2: Potters were one eighty four to two oh one, and
- 35:14Speaker 2: two oh nine in the three years after they spent
- 35:16Speaker 2: two hundred and forty eight million. So clearly they were
- 35:19Speaker 2: spending at high, high levels. And you know, look they
- 35:24Speaker 2: sold for three point nine billion in the stadium when
- 35:27Speaker 2: when when I covered the Padres, they could not sell.
- 35:30Speaker 2: They were they were not a good franchise. And now
- 35:33Speaker 2: their value is three point nine billion, So they clearly
- 35:36Speaker 2: they figured out something.
- 35:39Speaker 1: They got Donaldson after the twenty nineteen so after one
- 35:43Speaker 1: hundred and one win season, right, didn't get back anywhere
- 35:48Speaker 1: close to that got Korea twenty two and finally ended
- 35:51Speaker 1: the playoff streak, but asterisk because that round didn't exist
- 35:55Speaker 1: prior to twenty twenty, and then they got bounced in.
- 36:00Speaker 1: So it's like it's always exciting to get to get
- 36:03Speaker 1: a big name player, but like it just historically has
- 36:06Speaker 1: not necessarily helped to get the Twins over the line either.
- 36:09Speaker 1: So I'm not saying don't do it, of course, it's
- 36:11Speaker 1: just I think maybe to why it's point, like, what
- 36:14Speaker 1: what is the best approach the Twins know they have
- 36:16Speaker 1: to be right when they do these things. Is it
- 36:18Speaker 1: a big is it a big name or is it
- 36:20Speaker 1: more sort of complimentary pieces? And Tyler, I like Dan
- 36:23Speaker 1: you said, the player has to want to come here too,
- 36:26Speaker 1: which I still think is an overlooked factor that people
- 36:29Speaker 1: don't realize. Is like maybe they are willing to pay
- 36:32Speaker 1: certain people and they just say no, I don't want to.
- 36:34Speaker 1: In my head, Tyler, I assume every player wants to
- 36:37Speaker 1: either play in New York, the West Coast, or some
- 36:39Speaker 1: area that they have a special connection to like where
- 36:41Speaker 1: they or they grew up or.
- 36:42Speaker 3: Yeah it's and it's unique. You know, there's the big
- 36:45Speaker 3: the big clubs.
- 36:46Speaker 4: You know, there's always the you know, as Rick and
- 36:49Speaker 4: Alaska I think said, you know he was playing for
- 36:51Speaker 4: he had come from the Marlins and he's like, you
- 36:53Speaker 4: know that's you know, there's the show and then there's
- 36:56Speaker 4: like that next level, which is definitely a fact or
- 37:00Speaker 4: you know, if you're one of the top tiered guys,
- 37:03Speaker 4: like you get to pick where you want to go,
- 37:05Speaker 4: like odds are it's not gonna be Minnesota unless you've
- 37:08Speaker 4: got a tie. You know, it's and it's one you know,
- 37:12Speaker 4: guys come in like Jason cashtro came and you know others,
- 37:15Speaker 4: and you know you talk to them because it's they're
- 37:17Speaker 4: going through their experiences. It's I loved playing there. I
- 37:20Speaker 4: had no issues with it. But when everything's even and
- 37:24Speaker 4: you can tell a guy you can play for San
- 37:26Speaker 4: Diego or Minnesota for the same dollars, like I'm sorry.
- 37:30Speaker 3: You know, Minnesota is beautiful in the summertime.
- 37:33Speaker 4: It is, don't get me wrong, But they're gonna go
- 37:35Speaker 4: to San Diego every time because it's twenty eight degrees
- 37:38Speaker 4: to start the year for the first month. You know,
- 37:40Speaker 4: you're playing in the Central It's it's gritty, you know,
- 37:44Speaker 4: there's just different things. But at the same time, there's
- 37:46Speaker 4: guys who don't care and guys who want to play
- 37:49Speaker 4: baseball and compete. And if you can sell yourself as
- 37:52Speaker 4: a team who's trying to win games, that's what a
- 37:54Speaker 4: lot of guys want to do. They want to they
- 37:56Speaker 4: want a shot to win a World Series, and that's
- 37:58Speaker 4: all that really matters.
- 37:59Speaker 3: And that's what fans want to hear too, is there
- 38:01Speaker 3: guys want.
- 38:02Speaker 4: To win, you know, And so if you get those
- 38:04Speaker 4: pieces in I like Dan's point, go trade for a
- 38:07Speaker 4: guy who's maybe on a big deal that maybe is
- 38:09Speaker 4: blocking a prospect for another team like that they need
- 38:12Speaker 4: to move, like, go get somebody like that who's established.
- 38:15Speaker 3: You know it's going to be dependable.
- 38:17Speaker 4: You know that's easy to say now, but you know
- 38:19Speaker 4: when it blows up, it's always wrong. But you know
- 38:21Speaker 4: you can go make a move without going crazy. You know,
- 38:25Speaker 4: go get a piece and a free agent guy. You know,
- 38:27Speaker 4: there's there's a lot of options, and and you know,
- 38:30Speaker 4: don't don't sell yourself short, I guess is the big thing.
- 38:32Speaker 4: You know, don't don't make it where you make one
- 38:34Speaker 4: move and if that goes wrong.
- 38:36Speaker 3: You're done.
- 38:37Speaker 4: You know, that's that's not trying to get better, that's
- 38:39Speaker 4: just throwing you know here, look at we threw money
- 38:41Speaker 4: at it and then it goes wrong again, like you
- 38:44Speaker 4: can't have that happen.
