- 12:02[SPEAKER_02]: I'm gonna say, you can get a, you just don't get a tan, dude.
- 12:06[SPEAKER_02]: Go get your tan on, right?
- 12:08[SPEAKER_00]: These kids, they love getting tan.
- 12:10[SPEAKER_00]: Go ahead.
- 12:11[SPEAKER_00]: And this sign.
- 12:13[SPEAKER_00]: I'd like to go outside with my beans on my toast and get it nice, tan, there's thing in there.
- 12:19[SPEAKER_00]: No, it does not appear on this list.
- 12:21[SPEAKER_00]: Get my onions.
- 12:22[SPEAKER_00]: Not something that you can do across the pond.
- 12:25[SPEAKER_00]: That's a strike.
- 12:26[SPEAKER_00]: Strike two.
- 12:27[SPEAKER_01]: There's something in June that we haven't cracked at the top three yet, have we, like, as far as it's high as we've gone.
- 12:34[SPEAKER_01]: For as the highest we've gone.
- 12:37[SPEAKER_00]: So there's some major June stuff.
- 12:38[SPEAKER_00]: You've, you've danced around one and two.
- 12:41[SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
- 12:42[SPEAKER_00]: Um, but, but have not, have not made it inside the bulls.
- 12:46[SPEAKER_00]: I enough for me to count them as a point.
- 12:48[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
- 12:49[SPEAKER_01]: We're so close to crack in the top three.
- 12:51[SPEAKER_01]: There's some major June stuff that we're forgetting, that we're not, we're not capturing the heart of.
- 12:59[SPEAKER_01]: And I would assume, I would have assumed that June was all about school being done.
- 13:07[SPEAKER_01]: School's out.
- 13:08[SPEAKER_03]: School's out and they love it.
- 13:12[SPEAKER_01]: And so, that's what I'm struggling.
- 13:15[SPEAKER_00]: I would say that's not a bad arena to continue speaking in gray.
- 13:20[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, but you gave me 15 straight seconds and I got one bear.
- 13:23[SPEAKER_02]: I never went for it when a gray school's out for the summer.
- 13:27[SPEAKER_01]: I wonder if he's, that is such his pace.
- 13:30[SPEAKER_01]: Is it feel like a missed opportunity for him?
- 13:31[SPEAKER_01]: Is he like, they took the first hit?
- 13:38[SPEAKER_02]: ever that feels so randy.
- 13:40[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, it kind of does.
- 13:41[SPEAKER_01]: You've, you've, you've, you've, you've, you've, you've, you've, you've, you've, you've, you've, you've, you've, you've, you've, you've, you've, you've, you've, you've, you've, you've, you've, you've, you've, you've, you've, you've, you've, you've, you've, you've, you've, you've, you've, you've, you've, you've, you've, you've, you've, you've, you've, you've, you've, you've, you've, you've, you've, you've, you've, you've, you've, you've, you've, you've, you've, you've, you've, you've, you've, you've, you've, you've, you've, you've, you've,
- 14:09[SPEAKER_00]: There is a specific, you're gonna be upset that I didn't give you the point for number one, but I have a good reason.
- 14:17[SPEAKER_00]: Whatever, man.
- 14:19[SPEAKER_00]: Shorts?
- 14:21[SPEAKER_00]: I like that.
- 14:23[SPEAKER_00]: Shorts?
- 14:23[SPEAKER_00]: Are those legal in the UK?
- 14:27[SPEAKER_03]: They can see my knees.
- 14:29[SPEAKER_01]: I think they can see my knees.
- 14:33[SPEAKER_03]: Jason's state, them.
- 14:35[SPEAKER_03]: Oh my god, they can see my knees.
- 14:36[SPEAKER_03]: I think they can see my knees.
- 14:40[SPEAKER_03]: I think they can see my name, like they can see my nephew.
- 14:44[SPEAKER_03]: That's what I call my scrote.
- 14:46[SPEAKER_03]: My name is my nephew.
- 14:48[SPEAKER_02]: Um, as an ex, I guess?
- 14:52[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, that's a strike for you, that's a strike for you.
- 14:54[SPEAKER_02]: That's a strike for you, yeah.
- 14:56[SPEAKER_02]: You get to sleep in more often.
- 14:59[SPEAKER_02]: We're sleeping in.
- 15:01[SPEAKER_02]: I did say that in my 15 second free rant.
- 15:05[SPEAKER_00]: And then he didn't give it to me.
- 15:06[SPEAKER_00]: That's another strike.
- 15:08[SPEAKER_00]: That's another strike.
- 15:11[SPEAKER_02]: What can we look for, too?
- 15:12[SPEAKER_00]: That's it.
- 15:13[SPEAKER_00]: You guys are out.
- 15:13[SPEAKER_02]: No, he's been in there.
- 15:14[SPEAKER_02]: All right.
- 15:15[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, is that your third?
- 15:15[SPEAKER_00]: No.
- 15:16[SPEAKER_00]: That's my third one.
- 15:17[SPEAKER_00]: Give us the test.
- 15:18[SPEAKER_00]: I'm going to start with 14 because there's some interesting ones down here.
- 15:21[SPEAKER_00]: Number 14 is family fun.
- 15:26[SPEAKER_00]: You can have fun as it's been time with your family.
- 15:28[SPEAKER_00]: You could.
- 15:28[SPEAKER_00]: Number 13 is summer fest and I am going to Halsey's concert there on June 29, 2018.
- 15:35[SPEAKER_00]: Number 12 is Morgan Freeman's birthday.
- 15:38[SPEAKER_00]: Number 11.
- 15:39[SPEAKER_00]: Barbecue's.
- 15:40[SPEAKER_02]: Way, that's so funny.
- 15:42[SPEAKER_00]: Number 10, air conditioners.
- 15:45[SPEAKER_00]: The one thing that takes me away from the many pains of a hot summer month.
- 15:51[SPEAKER_00]: Number nine, the, number nine, the beautiful animals come back.
- 15:57[SPEAKER_00]: Why did they harm some of my students?
- 15:59[SPEAKER_00]: Why did they think this?
- 16:00[SPEAKER_00]: Beautiful animals come back, you know?
- 16:04[SPEAKER_02]: Now I'm gonna remember.
- 16:05[SPEAKER_02]: I will see the dog.
- 16:08[SPEAKER_02]: Who knows how.
- 16:09[SPEAKER_03]: Hey, it's June now, everyone, come back.
- 16:14[SPEAKER_03]: Every one, coming back.
- 16:17[SPEAKER_00]: He's not you.
- 16:21[SPEAKER_00]: Number eight is swimming.
- 16:22[SPEAKER_00]: Number seven, the flowers and the leaves on trees.
- 16:25[SPEAKER_00]: Let's start to grow.
- 16:28[SPEAKER_00]: Number six is traveling.
- 16:30[SPEAKER_00]: Number five, this is interesting.
- 16:32[SPEAKER_00]: Father's Day.
- 16:34[SPEAKER_00]: And the US, certainly, in the UK, that's in November.
- 16:37[SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
- 16:38[SPEAKER_00]: All right, yeah, I'm going to be tension on this list.
- 16:41[SPEAKER_01]: And yet it's so high.
- 16:43[SPEAKER_00]: Number four, you don't have to worry about homework.
- 16:47[SPEAKER_00]: Number three, one of the top 10 best things about June is that the weather gets hot.
- 16:52[SPEAKER_03]: Mm-hmm.
- 16:54[SPEAKER_00]: Number two, summer begins.
- 16:58[SPEAKER_00]: Mm-hmm.
- 17:03[SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
- 17:04[SPEAKER_00]: There is no comments about school in this.
- 17:06[SPEAKER_00]: I believe summer begins.
- 17:07[SPEAKER_00]: We're referring to it is summer time, not it is summer break, because number one says summer vacation, I was looking for the word summer vacation or summer break, they also don't say anything about school in the comments of this one.
- 17:34[SPEAKER_00]: You said go on vacation, and I gave you traveling.
- 17:37[SPEAKER_00]: Summer vacation here, I probably should have given you an extra point, but I think we both know that when I said schools out, that should account it.
- 17:47[SPEAKER_00]: I think he's all the five of the top 10.
- 17:49[SPEAKER_00]: Sometimes the way the game works.
- 17:52[SPEAKER_00]: You go hand with it well.
- 17:53[SPEAKER_00]: You feel better?
- 17:54[SPEAKER_00]: Well, we're tied now if that's the case.
- 17:57[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, sure.
- 17:58[SPEAKER_00]: And they made one of the newcomers, some newcomer.
- 18:01[SPEAKER_00]: Whoever can name the other newcomer besides Pride Month.
- 18:04[SPEAKER_00]: Wait, this is supposed to be this route.
- 18:06[SPEAKER_02]: But we don't have any time.
- 18:07[SPEAKER_00]: One more newcomer besides Pride Month.
- 18:09[SPEAKER_02]: We'll have time for this.
- 18:11[SPEAKER_00]: Well, Scott.
- 18:12[SPEAKER_00]: Socker, football, summer Olympics, sports.
- 18:17[SPEAKER_00]: Jordan, give me one guess.
- 18:20[SPEAKER_00]: newcomer.
- 18:22[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 18:23[SPEAKER_00]: Doesn't have enough votes yet to make it on this list.
- 18:26[SPEAKER_00]: And it's a new color.
- 18:28[SPEAKER_00]: It's a newcomer.
- 18:29[SPEAKER_00]: It's newly arrived here.
- 18:30[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 18:32[SPEAKER_00]: It has, it has just become here.
- 18:36[SPEAKER_00]: See, all my favorite birds again?
- 18:40[SPEAKER_00]: Birds are legal.
- 18:41[SPEAKER_00]: Summer solstice was the newcomer, so you guys ended a tie.
- 18:46[SPEAKER_02]: Fair, fair, you know something that's coming in June is my child, that's something, you know?
- 18:52[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 18:53[SPEAKER_02]: I think that's why I had such a hard time here because all I could think of was, oh, you have a kid.
- 18:56[SPEAKER_02]: I was like, that's not going to be on the list.
- 18:58[SPEAKER_00]: That's the best thing about June.
- 18:59[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 19:00[SPEAKER_02]: Something interesting that happens because it is an, and I am always fascinated with a unique seasons of life, new seasons of life.
- 19:08[SPEAKER_02]: new people, newness, and just kind of try to be conscious in those moments, just soak all of that in.
- 19:15[SPEAKER_02]: Like, what does this even feel like?
- 19:16[SPEAKER_02]: Where am I right now?
- 19:18[SPEAKER_02]: Sometimes events can be this, like I never thought that I would be at this.
- 19:22[SPEAKER_02]: I remember one time I delivered a big door to Ash Order to a massive lobby in the Marriott downtown of Dallas, and it was all people that had just gotten out of WrestleMania.
- 19:32[SPEAKER_02]: And I was just like, how long can I stay here, right?
- 19:35[SPEAKER_02]: Like, how long can I just be here?
- 19:37[SPEAKER_02]: So in this season, in these few weeks before my wife has our daughter, we've kind of been like, okay.
- 19:47[SPEAKER_02]: This is fascinating.
- 19:48[SPEAKER_02]: This is the last time that we have together, just us, of course, you know, she'll be 18 someday and then we have us again, but it's still different because she exists all that.
- 19:57[SPEAKER_02]: In that zeitgeist or in that season, we were kind of like, what can we watch?
- 20:02[SPEAKER_02]: Like, what do we need to watch now?
- 20:04[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 20:05[SPEAKER_02]: And so we did a bunch of heavy hitters.
- 20:06[SPEAKER_02]: And so I want to talk a little bit what you stream in and go through my personal list.
- 20:12[SPEAKER_02]: Um, and my experiences of these things, I watched all of he did rivalry.
- 20:16[SPEAKER_02]: It's actually not long.
- 20:18[SPEAKER_02]: Six or six or six episodes.
- 20:19[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 20:20[SPEAKER_02]: Have you all seen that?
- 20:21[SPEAKER_02]: I haven't, but it's on my list.
- 20:22[SPEAKER_02]: Can I really love it?
- 20:23[SPEAKER_02]: She said I would love it.
- 20:24[SPEAKER_02]: It's, it's really, really, really, really good.
- 20:27[SPEAKER_01]: I, but also the third very charming.
- 20:29[SPEAKER_01]: So I think it was, I think they're great.
- 20:30[SPEAKER_02]: And I thought that that was just going to be it.
- 20:32[SPEAKER_02]: Like that's all the umami of why this was a big deal.
- 20:34[SPEAKER_02]: And it's a very popular,
- 20:37[SPEAKER_02]: you know, uh, gay romance hockey sport.
- 20:41[SPEAKER_02]: So it's doing all of these cross sections that are in normal, but it's the guy that made Letterkitty.
- 20:46[SPEAKER_02]: Letterkitty, you know, and stuff like that.
- 20:48[SPEAKER_01]: And so, uh, I didn't know that.
- 20:50[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, he's the youth passaries.
- 20:52[SPEAKER_01]: Glenn, the youth pastor.
- 20:53[SPEAKER_02]: He's Glenn, but uh, yeah, funny character.
- 20:56[SPEAKER_02]: Um, but it's brilliant.
- 20:58[SPEAKER_02]: It's actually written really well.
- 20:59[SPEAKER_02]: It's, it's fun because you can tell the budget wasn't crazy.
- 21:02[SPEAKER_02]: Because these guys, these kiddos are supposed to be in the NHL.
- 21:05[SPEAKER_02]: And so you see these NHL games like whatever.
- 21:06[SPEAKER_01]: But it's, it's so, it is a beautiful love story.
- 21:11[SPEAKER_02]: It is, uh, I cannot remember the last time I was rooting for leads to get together more.
- 21:17[SPEAKER_02]: Wow.
- 21:17[SPEAKER_02]: than I was and he don't drive or he.
- 21:19[SPEAKER_02]: Because it is, it is, well, it's just wonderful.
- 21:21[SPEAKER_02]: It's really, really good.
- 21:22[SPEAKER_02]: And it's not, I don't think it's like, for many reasons, like,
- 21:26[SPEAKER_02]: things that we haven't seen because I also saw off campus.
- 21:30[SPEAKER_01]: If you've been hearing about this, it's a big deal kind of.
- 21:33[SPEAKER_02]: I think they're trying to play a little bit with that high school college vibe.
- 21:40[SPEAKER_02]: It's a college show, and it's this girl that has to fake that she's with this guy.
- 21:46[SPEAKER_02]: So it can get with another guy, the guy that she's faking with right now.
- 21:51[SPEAKER_02]: He's a hockey player too.
- 21:53[SPEAKER_02]: It has some pretty deep things real big right now.
- 22:00[SPEAKER_02]: Gen Z levels of, we're not afraid to talk about traumatic things and what it's like to process through those things.
- 22:08[SPEAKER_02]: It's okay.
- 22:09[SPEAKER_02]: I think if he did rebel for me was like a nine or a nine and a half out of 10, off campus is like a six or a five.
- 22:16[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 22:17[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 22:18[SPEAKER_02]: Also finally started the pit.
- 22:21[SPEAKER_02]: Okay, absolutely.
- 22:23[SPEAKER_02]: Okay, I can't watch it.
- 22:25[SPEAKER_02]: But I am jealous.
- 22:27[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 22:30[SPEAKER_01]: I've just, I'm in a place in my life right now, where every episode of Bill, I have that.
- 22:33[SPEAKER_01]: I'm gonna die.
- 22:34[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I mean, of course I'm running the risk of when they're doing CPR on a little girl that just drown.
- 22:41[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 22:42[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 22:43[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 22:43[SPEAKER_00]: You should run there.
- 22:44[SPEAKER_00]: That's probably good for your brain.
- 22:45[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 22:47[SPEAKER_02]: Is it training for labor into the way?
- 22:49[SPEAKER_02]: Probably not actually.
- 22:51[SPEAKER_02]: Could be, though.
- 22:51[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 22:52[SPEAKER_02]: Nobody's going to take a cockroach out of my life here.
- 22:55[SPEAKER_02]: Um, but the paint is really good.
- 22:58[SPEAKER_02]: It's really, really good.
- 22:59[SPEAKER_02]: Sorry if you can't watch it.
- 23:00[SPEAKER_00]: It's fantastic.
- 23:01[SPEAKER_02]: No, I've heard it's amazing.
- 23:02[SPEAKER_01]: I'm jealous.
- 23:02[SPEAKER_02]: But it was so hyped, you know?
- 23:06[SPEAKER_00]: And I think it's, is that the one where he's like really, really sarcastic and kind of start on it, and he has a cane and it's always loopous.
- 23:12[SPEAKER_00]: No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no.
- 23:16[SPEAKER_00]: That's the, uh, it's really nice.
- 23:19[SPEAKER_00]: House?
- 23:19[SPEAKER_00]: I thought that was all of them.
- 23:20[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 23:20[SPEAKER_00]: I thought that was all of them.
- 23:23[SPEAKER_00]: You know, Chelsea and everybody on any medical show has lived.
- 23:26[SPEAKER_02]: We've watched enough Shonda Rime shows, like Gray's Anatomy, that we watched this show.
- 23:31[SPEAKER_02]: And I told Chelsea, I was like, if this was Shonda, after this dude dies, that pregnant lady with Mary Wittaker, she would marry this doctor.
- 23:40[SPEAKER_02]: They would get in there.
- 23:41[SPEAKER_01]: And you'd find out that her baby was a nuke in that the hospital was going to be a killer.
- 23:47[SPEAKER_00]: He's just too crazy in that show.
- 23:49[SPEAKER_00]: But it's like a little while.
- 23:50[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 23:51[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 23:51[SPEAKER_00]: I tend to think he's very good.
- 23:53[SPEAKER_00]: He's very good.
- 23:55[SPEAKER_00]: So he did a series that was, I think it was FX.
- 24:00[SPEAKER_00]: that I was like momentarily fully obsessed with.
- 24:04[SPEAKER_00]: Spielberg executive produced, called Falling Skies, or a lot of things up in the aftermath.
- 24:09[SPEAKER_00]: Is it aliens alien invasion?
- 24:12[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, yeah, it's like, it takes place.
- 24:14[SPEAKER_00]: The show starts like nine months after alien invasion.
- 24:17[SPEAKER_00]: And the first season is,
- 24:19[SPEAKER_00]: Like, honestly, extremely, extremely good.
- 24:22[SPEAKER_00]: And then it kind of did the heroes thing where it's like, that was all our ideas.
- 24:25[SPEAKER_00]: And now we don't have any more ideas.
- 24:26[SPEAKER_00]: I never done.
- 24:27[SPEAKER_00]: But the first season, I own on Blu-ray because of how good it is.
- 24:31[SPEAKER_00]: Watch the first season.
- 24:32[SPEAKER_00]: It's a ton of fun.
- 24:33[SPEAKER_02]: This is the pits creators, the same guy that created ER.
- 24:36[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, cool.
- 24:38[SPEAKER_02]: And that's how Noah got the gig, I'm a student.
- 24:40[SPEAKER_02]: That's how he got the gig.
- 24:41[SPEAKER_02]: And it was a meant to be
- 24:43[SPEAKER_02]: a sequel.
- 24:44[SPEAKER_02]: Like a direct sequel to ER because we're going to use the same doctor, which by the way, Noah Wilde's character in ER is Dr. John Carter.
- 24:52[SPEAKER_02]: Never knew that.
- 24:53[SPEAKER_02]: That's funny.
- 24:53[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, cool.
- 24:54[SPEAKER_02]: That's me.
- 24:55[SPEAKER_00]: Actually, it's crazy because you're named after him.
- 24:57[SPEAKER_00]: That's me, actually.
- 24:58[SPEAKER_00]: Love ER so much.
- 24:58[SPEAKER_02]: It's actually you, dude.
- 25:00[SPEAKER_02]: I'll finally get to lived up.
- 25:01[SPEAKER_02]: It's lived up, lived up, live up to the doctor of it all.
- 25:04[SPEAKER_00]: My first name, Dr.
- 25:06[SPEAKER_02]: And Dr. Dr. John Carter, there we go.
- 25:10[SPEAKER_02]: But they were like, no, we don't want to go straight from that.
- 25:12[SPEAKER_02]: It'll be spiritual sequel to that.
- 25:15[SPEAKER_02]: And then lastly, in terms of, you know, we've got the following skies of it all, where you do one season, you run out of ideas.
- 25:22[SPEAKER_02]: Hacks feels complete.
- 25:23[SPEAKER_02]: We're in its final season, we have the finale left of Hacks.
- 25:28[SPEAKER_02]: And it is just,
- 25:30[SPEAKER_02]: I think the friendship between our two leads in Hacks is going to be considered like an all-timeer.
- 25:37[SPEAKER_01]: I think next time my list order, Gene's the first any of Hacks.
- 25:41[SPEAKER_02]: Gene has won every single year for female lead in a comedy, Emmy, and that's four years and she'll very like to get her fifth.
- 25:49[SPEAKER_01]: Have a clean sweep of this.
- 25:51[SPEAKER_02]: You know, it's on the, it feels like it's got the,
- 25:56[SPEAKER_02]: Comic a claim of like what we would do for the drama of Breaking Bad.
- 25:59[SPEAKER_02]: How it would just be like, yeah, it felt like they had a plan.
- 26:02[SPEAKER_02]: And even when they had new ones, they fit in perfectly, you know, just was like, everything is working for these writers.
- 26:09[SPEAKER_02]: And if you have not watched Hacks, what a what a joy that is.
- 26:12[SPEAKER_02]: It's so fun.
- 26:13[SPEAKER_02]: Cool.
- 26:13[SPEAKER_02]: There's enough stakes that make it dramatic in some ways, but really the center is our relationship between our two leads.
- 26:19[SPEAKER_01]: I've been seeing some of this.
- 26:23[SPEAKER_01]: Um, I'm, I'm, I'm Binder Hannah, I'm Binder.
- 26:26[SPEAKER_01]: Is that how we pronounce her last name?
- 26:27[SPEAKER_01]: I've been seeing her everywhere recently.
- 26:29[SPEAKER_01]: She's like big Eagles fan all over the place.
- 26:31[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, I have seen that cover.
- 26:32[SPEAKER_01]: That's the California.
- 26:33[SPEAKER_01]: And, um, yeah, so that's, that's our next like real show that's on our list is love acts.
- 26:40[SPEAKER_00]: Cool.
- 26:40[SPEAKER_01]: I'm excited for that.
- 26:42[SPEAKER_00]: Love, I think it's got some rewatchability too, which is great.
- 26:45[SPEAKER_00]: Carter, you were, you were watching the final season of the boys, yeah?
- 26:48[SPEAKER_00]: I watched it all.
- 26:50[SPEAKER_00]: Finish that.
- 26:50[SPEAKER_00]: You watched it all.
- 26:51[SPEAKER_00]: I've heard, I've heard that it was not very good.
- 26:56[SPEAKER_00]: Folks didn't enjoy the way that it ended.
- 26:58[SPEAKER_02]: I did not.
- 27:00[SPEAKER_02]: Now, I think there was a pretty, like, uh,
- 27:04[SPEAKER_02]: Because homelander, what made that show so good, was homelander was so bad, and he was just so real in how unreal he was.
- 27:13[SPEAKER_02]: And yeah, the way that he reaches his demise, I think is what people have the most issue with.
- 27:19[SPEAKER_02]: I thought the actor didn't incredible job with what he was given.
- 27:22[SPEAKER_02]: Sure, he's always fantastic.
- 27:24[SPEAKER_02]: But with how bombastic this show is, it just felt like it ended on a,
- 27:31[SPEAKER_02]: somber note, which was not the point.
- 27:33[SPEAKER_02]: It didn't feel like that's what you do.
- 27:35[SPEAKER_00]: You know, that's a bummer.
- 27:37[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I kind of am feeling a stranger thing's feeling about that, where it's like, I may not ever watch that last season.
- 27:43[SPEAKER_00]: I liked it, and then I think it's done what I needed it to do for me.
- 27:47[SPEAKER_01]: I feel the same.
- 27:47[SPEAKER_01]: I think I got out of the boys and stranger things what I needed, and I don't really feel the inclination to finish either journey.
- 27:54[SPEAKER_02]: I don't think, but yeah, it was, it felt rushed.
- 27:58[SPEAKER_02]: I hate when movie business has emphasis on the business, and I know that's what they have to do sometimes, especially in such competition with streaming.
- 28:06[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, there's really not, we love company competitive reality shows.
- 28:14[SPEAKER_02]: We literally just spent the last three months talking about one specific one, and that feels like that's about everything that,
- 28:21[SPEAKER_02]: that our major networks in like cable quote-unquote has for broad strokes of like trying to get people to watch outside of that and supporting events.
- 28:28[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 28:30[SPEAKER_02]: Extremious stuff, but that's why things like hack stand out.
- 28:33[SPEAKER_02]: I like I can't believe it.
- 28:34[SPEAKER_02]: You know, it's one of those to where you need to feel sad that it's done You need to be like, man, I feel like they could have done one more.
- 28:40[SPEAKER_02]: Right.
- 28:41[SPEAKER_02]: I appreciate you.
- 28:41[SPEAKER_02]: I ended it here.
- 28:42[SPEAKER_02]: You know That's how bad was that.
- 28:45[SPEAKER_02]: I'm so sure.
- 28:46[SPEAKER_02]: I flee back some amazing isn't it just two seasons two seasons.
- 28:49[SPEAKER_01]: That's it Isn't Batman the animated series only like two seasons two?
- 28:54[SPEAKER_02]: I think, yeah, it is.
- 28:55[SPEAKER_02]: I remember being so surprised when I found that out.
- 28:58[SPEAKER_02]: I was like, but I feel like I have watched an episode of this.
- 29:01[SPEAKER_02]: There is eight years of my life straight every day.
- 29:04[SPEAKER_00]: So Defunct Land has like a little short mini documentaries on YouTube called Defunct TV about like TV shows that we grew up watching as kids.
- 29:13[SPEAKER_00]: So like any any cartoon from when we were a child, I can guarantee you has one third the number of episodes that you think it does.
- 29:21[SPEAKER_01]: Same with Disney Channel like live action shows.
- 29:24[SPEAKER_01]: It feels like they'd all have 11 seasons like friends, but they'll have a three or two or three.
- 29:29[SPEAKER_00]: Well, it's because there was that deal, like they most of them only had two seasons because the rule was by the third season.
- 29:34[SPEAKER_00]: The like the child actors had to be paid more or promote like paid it for a different way.
- 29:40[SPEAKER_00]: Which is why you have things like the sweet life of Zach and Cody turned into sweet life on deck.
- 29:45[SPEAKER_00]: So yeah, we're going to reach it.
- 29:47[SPEAKER_00]: That's actually a new show.
- 29:48[SPEAKER_02]: Sweet life on deck down under.
- 29:50[SPEAKER_02]: Sweet life on deck manager.
- 29:51[SPEAKER_02]: Right.
- 29:53[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 29:53[SPEAKER_02]: Very fun.
- 29:55[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, another year at the pit is it's a 15 15 episode season and that's because the entire season is a singular shift What's really I didn't know that it is an hour and 24 but it won't be sport or
- 30:10[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, cool.
- 30:11[SPEAKER_02]: So we're on episode 10 and so as they're walking around the ER, like you kind of are getting, you know everybody that's in there.
- 30:20[SPEAKER_02]: Like even the patient, like, oh yeah, they gotta go check up on her.
- 30:22[SPEAKER_02]: Like, it's not interesting.
- 30:25[SPEAKER_02]: Crazy.
- 30:26[SPEAKER_02]: Brian Cranson's daughter is my favorite character on that show.
- 30:29[SPEAKER_02]: She's wonderful.
- 30:31[SPEAKER_02]: Interesting, Brenda, Brenda Kranston, Brianna, which is a place Dr. Keane.
- 30:38[SPEAKER_02]: Brianna, Brianna is a very charming person.
- 30:41[SPEAKER_02]: You know, I don't think there's gonna be too many things that would surprise you, like you could do a look away.
- 30:48[SPEAKER_02]: But I guess Jordan, you're just talking about like any symptom.
- 30:52[SPEAKER_02]: You're going to be like, yeah, what's going to happen is you're going to come in and be like pain.
- 30:55[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, exactly.
- 30:57[SPEAKER_01]: So he's going to come in and be like, I have a headache.
- 30:59[SPEAKER_01]: And they're going to be like, it's a tumor.
- 31:00[SPEAKER_01]: And the next time I get a headache, I'm going to be like, it's like that guy's a tumor.
- 31:03[SPEAKER_01]: Dude.
- 31:03[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 31:04[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 31:04[SPEAKER_00]: Taylor, dear to you.
- 31:06[SPEAKER_02]: I'm from the pit.
- 31:06[SPEAKER_02]: It's her and true.
- 31:08[SPEAKER_02]: She's wonderful.
- 31:10[SPEAKER_02]: She had a very small role in breaking bad, actually, as a sad, faced girl.
- 31:14[SPEAKER_02]: Sure.
- 31:16[SPEAKER_02]: In 2010, dad was like, come on, babe.
- 31:18[SPEAKER_02]: Sheptism, I love it.
- 31:19[SPEAKER_00]: Your face is so sad, you'd be perfect for this role.
- 31:24[SPEAKER_00]: We are not streaming a whole lot right now.
- 31:26[SPEAKER_00]: We just moved, we're unpacking boxes in most of our spare time.
- 31:31[SPEAKER_00]: But when we do sit down in front of the television, it is Taskmaster currently, the current season of Taskmaster.
- 31:38[SPEAKER_00]: He's very, very good.
- 31:39[SPEAKER_00]: One, Mr. Kumail Nangiani, representing the United States of America, very brilliantly.
- 31:45[SPEAKER_00]: I think he's fantastic on the season of Taskmaster.
- 31:48[SPEAKER_00]: We've also just finished.
- 31:50[SPEAKER_00]: One of our, it would be on our personal top 10s list.
- 31:52[SPEAKER_00]: One of our top 10 best things about June about the summertime is that we get bit by the true crime documentary bug.
- 31:58[SPEAKER_00]: Oh wow.
- 31:59[SPEAKER_00]: We just are like, let's watch some true crime stuff.
- 32:02[SPEAKER_00]: We've just finished two on Netflix.
- 32:05[SPEAKER_00]: The first that we finished was Should I marry a murderer?
- 32:08[SPEAKER_00]: Which was very fun since a woman's very simple.
- 32:11[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 32:12[SPEAKER_00]: a woman who gets engaged and then discovers that her fiance is the, uh, the key to a missing person's case, a cyclist who has killed, uh, who's been missing turns out was killed in a hidden run, and his body was buried in her fiance did it, and so she has to gather evidence for the scholars.
- 32:31[SPEAKER_00]: that's the first episode.
- 32:33[SPEAKER_00]: And then the second documentary we watched is a follow-up to keep sweet prey in Obey, the FLDS, plural marriage, polygamous documentary, the Warren Jeffs cult.
- 32:47[SPEAKER_00]: A woman who also embeds herself in this cult with the premise of I'm making a documentary and she's there for like a year and a half and the whole time is feeding video and audio to the police to try and Catch the leader the new leader of this cult.
- 33:02[SPEAKER_00]: It's extremely intense.
- 33:04[SPEAKER_02]: Do you find something kind of relaxing about shows like that?
- 33:09[SPEAKER_00]: Um, it feels for me so that I don't watch summer house, but the way that you boys have talked to me about summer house and the drama in summer house of like, I can't believe this is really happening.
- 33:20[SPEAKER_00]: That's what I get from these true crime documentaries.
- 33:22[SPEAKER_00]: It is not relaxing, but there is, especially on how they end, there is a sense of like cosmic justice.
- 33:29[SPEAKER_00]: I'm glad that I got what was coming to him.
- 33:30[SPEAKER_00]: I think the truth, it's the moment in the dark night when Gordon is undercover and then grabs the Joker.
- 33:38[SPEAKER_00]: And it's like, we gotcha.
- 33:39[SPEAKER_00]: You son of a bitch, we gotcha.
- 33:40[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 33:41[SPEAKER_00]: That's what I feel in a true crime documentary.
- 33:43[SPEAKER_02]: Amazing.
- 33:44[SPEAKER_02]: True crime for me is I do think there is something relaxing about it and like a man that will never touch me.
- 33:50[SPEAKER_02]: Like I'm so glad.
- 33:51[SPEAKER_02]: That's like when I watch Jeff.
- 33:52[SPEAKER_02]: My last time pretty good and never.
- 33:54[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I'm not in that pain.
- 33:56[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 33:58[SPEAKER_02]: But Jordan, you're right, there is a uniqueness on the heels of talking about the pit.
- 34:02[SPEAKER_02]: It's like good though.
- 34:03[SPEAKER_02]: That's that's very real.
- 34:04[SPEAKER_02]: That could happen.
- 34:05[SPEAKER_02]: It's like when people aren't scared of horror movies with monsters, but when it's demonic, they're like, okay, well,
- 34:16[SPEAKER_02]: I do believe in spirits.
- 34:17[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I have no fear of the blob, but I don't like spiders.
- 34:20[SPEAKER_01]: You know what I mean?
- 34:21[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 34:21[SPEAKER_01]: Sort of, yeah.
- 34:23[SPEAKER_01]: Sort of where I'm at with it.
- 34:25[SPEAKER_01]: Makes sense.
- 34:26[SPEAKER_01]: Um, does that, was that it for you?
- 34:29[SPEAKER_01]: That's all we're streaming.
- 34:30[SPEAKER_01]: I run through mine real quick.
- 34:32[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, summer house, the drama is unbelievable.
- 34:36[SPEAKER_01]: I watched the entire first reunion episode curled up like a bug that got that stepped on best aside.
- 34:43[SPEAKER_01]: I was just on my couch with like every limb curled up and tense, just watching.
- 34:48[SPEAKER_01]: with Bay, I would say Bay to Breath, but it was really just Bay to everything.
- 34:51[SPEAKER_01]: My blood stopped, everything, it was horrible and amazing.
- 34:56[SPEAKER_01]: So we've been watching that also task master.
- 34:58[SPEAKER_01]: Recently though, we started to, we ramped back up, we watched the rewatch, the first season of shrinking, and then carried that into season two, which we finished the other day.
- 35:07[SPEAKER_01]: And we've officially started, we're three or four episodes into season three now.
- 35:11[SPEAKER_01]: It's really so good.
- 35:13[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, do you want to take it just to move on, please?
- 35:15[SPEAKER_02]: Please do.
- 35:16[SPEAKER_02]: We were between shrinking in the pit, and we weren't going to do them simultaneously.
- 35:20[SPEAKER_02]: Sure.
- 35:20[SPEAKER_02]: So it was like, you know what, I haven't watched any of shrinking.
- 35:24[SPEAKER_02]: So it's like a so good man.
- 35:26[SPEAKER_02]: It felt like you know what, I think we'll need shrinking after we finish the pit.
- 35:30[SPEAKER_01]: That's probably true to seeing the praises of shrinking for just a moment, obviously with no spoilers.
- 35:35[SPEAKER_01]: I want to say that I think Bill Lawrence has proven through so much of my life, you know, I got into scrubs when I was like 13.
- 35:43[SPEAKER_01]: And so I've been on the Bill Lawrence train for like a pretty long time at this point, and I think I can pretty safely say,
- 35:50[SPEAKER_01]: that whatever he, whatever his writing process is and whatever he cares about seems to really click with me and obviously in enormous audience, I think that he does such a good job of like making characters that you can kind of see through to the core of and start to understand their motivations more than their action.
- 36:09[SPEAKER_01]: For sure.
- 36:10[SPEAKER_01]: And that was true in Scrubs.
- 36:11[SPEAKER_01]: That's true in Ted Lassau.
- 36:11[SPEAKER_01]: That's true here.
- 36:13[SPEAKER_01]: And I think that shrinking, also shrinking is sort of like
- 36:18[SPEAKER_01]: I'm sure it's like the pit or scrubs where any real therapist would tell you that this is not what therapy is like and it's over the top, but there are enough actual therapy ideas in the show that it feels very thoughtful in the way that they approach particularly
- 36:35[SPEAKER_01]: You know, I think that one of the bravest stories that you can tell in a TV show is a story of forgiveness, and I think that the exploration of depression and forgiveness and happiness and contentment, like the show really doesn't shy away from.
- 36:52[SPEAKER_01]: hard conversations.
- 36:53[SPEAKER_01]: It doesn't shy away from hard confrontations, but also like Jason Seagulls just so likable.
- 37:00[SPEAKER_01]: And Harrison Ford, this is the best work he's ever done.
- 37:02[SPEAKER_00]: I think Jayne I would say like career best performance from Harrison Ford.
- 37:06[SPEAKER_00]: That's so crazy.
- 37:08[SPEAKER_01]: He's what a career.
- 37:09[SPEAKER_01]: And genuinely, I have cried four times at shrinking in three of them or because of him.
- 37:15[SPEAKER_01]: Uh, wow.
- 37:15[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 37:16[SPEAKER_01]: It's, he's just phenomenal.
- 37:19[SPEAKER_00]: Everybody's a moment in the season.
- 37:20[SPEAKER_00]: He's a finale that is like a top five moment in any show for.
- 37:25[SPEAKER_00]: It's really good because of Harrison Ford.
- 37:27[SPEAKER_01]: It's really good.
- 37:27[SPEAKER_01]: Season three has started really strong.
- 37:30[SPEAKER_01]: It's fun.
- 37:30[SPEAKER_01]: And I just, I'm, I'm also, I'm a huge, I think her name is Kristen Miller.
- 37:34[SPEAKER_01]: It's Bill Lawrence's wife.
- 37:36[SPEAKER_01]: She plays Jordan, Jordan Cox in Scrubs.
- 37:39[SPEAKER_01]: And she plays Liz in shrinking.
- 37:43[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, again, because I've watched Scrubs for so long, it feels like she's been there for me for so long, and I just find her so likable, and she just kind of always plays the same character, but it works for me.
- 37:55[SPEAKER_01]: Anyway, shrinking is really great.
- 37:57[SPEAKER_01]: Also playing 007 first light, which is really fun.
- 38:01[SPEAKER_01]: We'll talk a little bit outside of that in the back half.
- 38:05[SPEAKER_01]: as well as just started the will of the many and a few chapters in.
- 38:08[SPEAKER_01]: It's very interesting.
- 38:09[SPEAKER_01]: It hasn't quite hooked me yet, but I'm slow burning it.
- 38:12[SPEAKER_01]: So, you know, I just probably haven't gotten to the real crux of the story at this point, but I heard good slow burning it.
- 38:20[SPEAKER_01]: It's very interesting.
- 38:23[SPEAKER_01]: It's very, it's one of those books that
- 38:26[SPEAKER_01]: You have to want to read it because it doesn't ever stop down and be like, and this word means this.
- 38:31[SPEAKER_01]: Like, it just jumps you straight into like world jargon, and you just kind of have to piece it together.
- 38:37[SPEAKER_01]: So, I'll keep you posted on that one.
- 38:40[SPEAKER_01]: But anyway, let's take a break.
- 38:41[SPEAKER_01]: Let's jump to shout announcements before we do, it's not a back half.
- 38:44[SPEAKER_01]: Let's call it a back quarter.
- 38:45[SPEAKER_01]: Let's be honest.
- 38:46[SPEAKER_02]: Let's do a quarter.
- 38:49[SPEAKER_02]: Let's backward.
- 39:07[SPEAKER_00]: It sounded like a Gandalf surprise, it's a little bit.
- 39:09[SPEAKER_02]: Surprise, it's Doge, that was a dead-on Jordan.
- 39:12[SPEAKER_02]: And then they're like, what?
- 39:13[SPEAKER_02]: This is perfect.
- 39:14[SPEAKER_02]: Surprise, it's Doge.
- 39:14[SPEAKER_02]: It's perfect.
- 39:15[SPEAKER_00]: There's like Gandalf doing what?
- 39:17[SPEAKER_00]: What he's whistling for Shadowfax?
- 39:18[SPEAKER_00]: Calling, calling Shadowfax.
- 39:19[SPEAKER_00]: Sweet Shadowfax?
- 39:21[SPEAKER_00]: Sweet Shadowfax, the King of all Mary's and every night.
- 39:23[SPEAKER_00]: I could listen to like that.
- 39:25[SPEAKER_00]: Come on.
- 39:39[SPEAKER_00]: If you, if, if you want to hear Carter whistle, you can support us on Patreon and Gandy's exclusive access to our official two chunks discord server where Carter does upload his whistle of the day every day.
- 39:52[SPEAKER_00]: It's a, it's a wave.
- 39:54[SPEAKER_00]: And in P3 he uploads every single day, Carter's whistle of the day.
- 39:57[SPEAKER_00]: I look forward to it.
- 39:58[SPEAKER_00]: I can't start my day without it.
- 40:01[SPEAKER_00]: And that could be yours, if you support us on page for you on Instagram.
- 40:04[SPEAKER_02]: Just support us over there, and if that individual that we're missing from this podcast, this episode who was talking with us about Survivor, we're still not gonna mention his name because it is kind of no.
- 40:14[SPEAKER_02]: Uh, it's a tough game right now.
- 40:16[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, it's a little bit tense.
- 40:17[SPEAKER_02]: He DMs imagined Dungeons for us, which is another podcast that we're on.
- 40:21[SPEAKER_02]: So if you look at more of like, uh, this is kind of like a sit down and hang out with your friends vibe, this podcast, if you're looking more of a like, I need a, I need a, I need a story, I need an epic, uh, uh, many part story with magic and turtles and heists.
- 40:37[SPEAKER_02]: We've got that for you over in a magic Dungeons, give it a loss and we're not mad at him over on
- 40:44[SPEAKER_02]: No, at that one, he's great.
- 40:45[SPEAKER_02]: We can't follow things that you can over it.
- 40:47[SPEAKER_02]: As much as you can be mad at God, which you can.
- 40:50[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, I actually do, I do spend some portion of every episode frustrated with him.
- 40:55[SPEAKER_02]: Sure.
- 40:56[SPEAKER_02]: That is true.
- 40:57[SPEAKER_00]: When he makes my opinion, he does like this.
- 40:58[SPEAKER_00]: That's true.
- 40:58[SPEAKER_00]: He doesn't recognize me.
- 41:00[SPEAKER_00]: He does.
- 41:00[SPEAKER_00]: He does.
- 41:00[SPEAKER_00]: He's such a valuable order, too.
- 41:03[SPEAKER_00]: He can bet numbers not big enough to do what you want to do.
- 41:05[SPEAKER_00]: It's just like, it sucks.
- 41:07[SPEAKER_00]: It makes me feel really small.
- 41:16[SPEAKER_01]: I just, I was curious, I stepped away for shout-and-ouncements.
- 41:18[SPEAKER_01]: Did you guys talk about Carter's whistle?
- 41:20[SPEAKER_01]: I didn't catch it.
- 41:21[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 41:23[SPEAKER_00]: I was hoping that you, it's on the, it's on the Google doc of what we have to talk about today.
- 41:27[SPEAKER_00]: When it's time, Carter's whistle of the day.
- 41:28[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it's so timely to bring it up because I know that Flow Ride did just, uh, back out of the 250 year celebration of America.
- 41:35[SPEAKER_01]: I'm here for a bit being, uh, another email for some
- 41:39[SPEAKER_01]: to sing whistle specifically and see what I think that's really probably cool for you especially but
- 41:47[SPEAKER_01]: Anyway, I wanted to talk a little bit in the back half.
- 41:50[SPEAKER_01]: Double a seven first life.
- 41:51[SPEAKER_01]: It's cool for you, given your beliefs.
- 41:53[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, given all your beliefs and morals, I think you'll really enjoy being at that concert.
- 41:57[SPEAKER_01]: I think that'll be cool for you.
- 41:58[SPEAKER_01]: It's gonna be a big one.
- 41:59[SPEAKER_01]: I've been playing Double a seven first life, which is a game made by the same creators that made a series called Hitman.
- 42:06[SPEAKER_01]: And they really haven't heard of it.
- 42:09[SPEAKER_01]: I think they, I remember when Double a seven first life.
- 42:12[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 42:13[SPEAKER_01]: I remember when Double a seven first life was announced.
- 42:16[SPEAKER_01]: that, yeah, it was like, oh, this makes sense.
- 42:19[SPEAKER_01]: This is a perfect one to one shift.
- 42:21[SPEAKER_01]: But the closer we got, I was kind of like, wondering how they were going to make it work.
- 42:25[SPEAKER_01]: And they've done a really great job.
- 42:26[SPEAKER_01]: It's sort of unchartered, meets hitman.
- 42:29[SPEAKER_01]: It's got a lot of the charm in the humor of Bond.
- 42:33[SPEAKER_01]: He's very flirty.
- 42:34[SPEAKER_01]: He's very, it's a young Bond.
- 42:36[SPEAKER_01]: It's like a Bond origin story, basically.
- 42:38[SPEAKER_01]: And so he's very,
- 42:40[SPEAKER_01]: It's got a chip on a shoulder.
- 42:41[SPEAKER_01]: He's trying to prove something.
- 42:42[SPEAKER_01]: He's restless.
- 42:43[SPEAKER_01]: It's really fun.
- 42:44[SPEAKER_01]: It's really well done.
- 42:44[SPEAKER_01]: I'm thoroughly enjoying it.
- 42:46[SPEAKER_01]: And it's got me thinking a lot about kind of where we're at when it comes to video games and movies and TV shows.
- 42:53[SPEAKER_01]: I think something like the last of us on HBO, which is the first season's really good.
- 42:58[SPEAKER_01]: The second season didn't really work for me as well as the first season did.
- 43:02[SPEAKER_01]: But I don't really feel offended by it because
- 43:08[SPEAKER_01]: I would say there's no reason, there's no reason to watch the show if you play the only reason to rely on the show, I guess, is what I mean.
- 43:16[SPEAKER_01]: Is if you don't play video games at all, I would say, yeah, it'll probably still land for you then.
- 43:21[SPEAKER_01]: But if you play video games, I'd say go to the source, play the game.
- 43:25[SPEAKER_01]: What's interesting is we're starting to enter what I would probably say we will look back on as like the golden age of video game movies.
- 43:32[SPEAKER_01]: We're starting to take these pretty seriously.
- 43:33[SPEAKER_01]: We've got the Elden Ring movie from Alex Garland coming soon.
- 43:37[SPEAKER_01]: We've got a piece of the chef photos.
- 43:38[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it looks pretty awesome.
- 43:40[SPEAKER_01]: looks great.
- 43:41[SPEAKER_01]: And I, he's an actual fan.
- 43:43[SPEAKER_01]: I like his movies.
- 43:44[SPEAKER_01]: I think he's going to do some pretty awesome stuff with it.
- 43:46[SPEAKER_01]: I think it'll be cool.
- 43:47[SPEAKER_00]: Especially if it's, you know, he got used to it.
- 43:49[SPEAKER_00]: I like, he, like, submitted that here's my old and ring.
- 43:52[SPEAKER_00]: I know.
- 43:52[SPEAKER_00]: I can't fake essentially.
- 43:54[SPEAKER_00]: And they're like, this is great.
- 43:55[SPEAKER_00]: You're allowed to make this movie.
- 43:56[SPEAKER_01]: I know.
- 43:57[SPEAKER_01]: I'm actually curious.
- 43:58[SPEAKER_01]: This is sort of a sidebar, I guess, but I'm really curious if he has tapped.
- 44:03[SPEAKER_01]: There's a, and there's a
- 44:07[SPEAKER_01]: YouTuber that covers the lore of Souls games who's been weirdly quiet recently.
- 44:12[SPEAKER_01]: And I kind of have wondered if he's been tapped at all to release that question.
- 44:16[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, but because he was working on the book, Grace given.
- 44:19[SPEAKER_01]: He's done another book before and wasn't nearly as radio silent during that time.
- 44:23[SPEAKER_01]: I'm just curious if he's going to announce at some point that he's been tapped for some of the lore study of Elden Ring for this movie.
- 44:29[SPEAKER_01]: That's what I would do.
- 44:31[SPEAKER_01]: If Alex Garland is a big fan, there's no way he doesn't know.
- 44:35[SPEAKER_01]: And so I feel like, you know, it's who I would tap for sure.
- 44:38[SPEAKER_01]: But anyway, we've got like, you know, the Super Mario move brothers movies, Super Mario Galaxy movie, the Sonic the Hedgehog movies, we've got the new Mortal Kombat coming out.
- 44:48[SPEAKER_01]: I just think that street we are.
- 44:50[SPEAKER_01]: Street Fighter.
- 44:50[SPEAKER_01]: There's a god of war show.
- 44:52[SPEAKER_01]: Is it Street Fighter not mortal cup?
- 44:53[SPEAKER_01]: No, both, both are good.
- 44:54[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, there's two.
- 44:57[SPEAKER_01]: The new god of war show, fallouts great.
- 44:59[SPEAKER_01]: So like, we're starting to tap into some of the great Zelda movie.
- 45:03[SPEAKER_01]: I would assume we are T-minus two years from a bio-shock show.
- 45:07[SPEAKER_01]: You know, I think like
- 45:08[SPEAKER_01]: a lot of the great stories in gaming have where we're at a point where modern directors are young enough to where they grew up probably playing those with friends or playing them themselves and so I think what I'm curious about is like so my understanding of the Elden Ring movie is that it is likely to be
- 45:29[SPEAKER_01]: And outside of the game story, probably a prequel, I would assume to the game itself.
- 45:37[SPEAKER_01]: I think that approach is very interesting.
- 45:39[SPEAKER_01]: I think what I was hoping for.
- 45:40[SPEAKER_01]: A lot of approach too, right.
- 45:42[SPEAKER_01]: And Fallout works great because there are hundreds of those shelters, those Fallout shelters, the vaults.
- 45:49[SPEAKER_01]: And so you can tell so many stories with the Fallout universe.
- 45:53[SPEAKER_01]: My guess is if they do something like a bio-shock, they're going to just tell the story of the first bio-shock game.
- 45:58[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, with Zelda what I'm hoping it is.
- 46:00[SPEAKER_01]: We don't know anything yet, but what I'm hoping it is is it is just a new Zelda story Like how every game is sort of like a Fresh reset on Zelda just telling a new story with those characters I'm kind of hoping that's what the movie is and not like Ocarina of time the movie or something like that.
- 46:18[SPEAKER_00]: No, I think it's loosely inspired by breath of the wild The costumes would be something like
- 46:25[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, the costumes and then like the crew hats that the crew has have the like kind of decayed looking like overgrown wild Legend of Zelda logo.
- 46:35[SPEAKER_00]: So my guess that's it's something that realm we're picking up and like yeah, the kingdom they're used to be a kingdom here called high rule kind of vibes, which is great.
- 46:45[SPEAKER_01]: I'm sort of doing the way every close there does as exactly as a fan, you're doing all the research, zoom and zoom and zoom and zoom and zoom in and hands hands hands hands hands hands hands hands hands hands hands hands hands hands hands hands hands hands hands hands hands hands hands hands hands hands hands hands hands hands hands hands hands hands hands hands hands hands hands hands hands hands hands hands hands hands hands hands hands hands hands hands hands hands hands hands hands hands hands hands hands hands hands hands hands hands hands hands hands hands hands hands hands hands hands hands hands hands hands hands hands hands hands hands hands hands hands hands hands hands hands hands hands hands hands hands hands hands hands hands hands hands hands hands hands hands hands hands hands hands hands hands hands hands hands hands hands hands hands hands hands hands hands hands hands hands hands hands hands hands hands hands hands hands hands hands hands hands hands hands hands hands hands hands hands hands hands hands hands hands hands hands hands hands hands hands hands hands hands hands hands hands hands hands hands hands hands hands hands hands hands hands hands hands hands hands hands hands hands hands hands hands hands hands hands hands hands hands
- 47:15[SPEAKER_01]: What are we thinking in terms of like, what do we feel like are some either some games that deserve a real earnest chance to be made into a movie?
- 47:25[SPEAKER_01]: Not necessarily a one to one.
- 47:26[SPEAKER_01]: You know, I think Zach Craigner's resident evil is kind of following that sort of, hey, we're taking the universe of these games but we're doing our own story there.
- 47:35[SPEAKER_01]: I think that's the way to do it for a game like resident evil.
- 47:38[SPEAKER_01]: I think it would be tough to cast like a live action on Kennedy.
- 47:41[SPEAKER_01]: I think everybody would be unhappy with it.
- 47:44[SPEAKER_01]: Um, so like whether it's something like that or just a one to one like last of a situation are there any games that we feel like are still on the table that we haven't heard news about that would work really well on screen?
- 47:54[SPEAKER_02]: I'll say this too because I think we talked about earnestness and you said earlier too that people are taking something seriously.
- 48:00[SPEAKER_02]: I think a lot of the times one of the biggest pieces to that is the director.
- 48:05[SPEAKER_02]: I feel like when you see sure is in charge.
- 48:07[SPEAKER_02]: Love.
- 48:08[SPEAKER_02]: telling this story.
- 48:09[SPEAKER_02]: Like when we found out that Brandon Sanderson was working with Apple, we were like, okay, think goodness.
- 48:14[SPEAKER_02]: Well, this is great.
- 48:16[SPEAKER_02]: This feels better than yeah, Lou, or Fox, right, or something like that.
- 48:21[SPEAKER_02]: Um, I,
- 48:23[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know how much it's deserved.
- 48:25[SPEAKER_02]: I love that in the midst of these things too, because sometimes I think one of the reasons we first talked about this was the Witcher, and how well the Witcher was doing early on with Henry Cavill.
- 48:35[SPEAKER_02]: But I think a fun thing would be, I like when in the midst of trying to do this realism, usually it's the high fantasy that feels like where it's going, or the post-apocalyptic, if somebody did something completely different.
- 48:48[SPEAKER_02]: I went Seth Rogan in his crew like with what they did with the Ninja Turtles franchise to grab something like Earthworm Jim.
- 48:56[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, that would be fun, and just just be like, hey, video games, are that also they are this, like can we get some of this vibe back?
- 49:05[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, this is for sure fully ridiculous.
- 49:08[SPEAKER_02]: So I don't think it's that kind of.
- 49:09[SPEAKER_01]: I would call that an earnest, no, no, it is.
- 49:11[SPEAKER_01]: I think I would call that, when I say earnest, I mean, like an earnest attempt to do right by the source material.
- 49:17[SPEAKER_01]: Like, I think in that same vein, like a Sly Cooper heist film done with the same earnestness is like a fantastic Mr. Fox would go with it.
- 49:23[SPEAKER_00]: Yes, yes.
- 49:25[SPEAKER_00]: Me, I think something like that would be us for I loved those games
- 49:29[SPEAKER_01]: But like I think there's gonna be a lot of temptation to do like a Call of Duty movie or something like that.
- 49:35[SPEAKER_01]: And I think that'll be probably- That's so similar.
- 49:38[SPEAKER_01]: Because that's flooring.
- 49:39[SPEAKER_02]: Band of brothers, like what do you need?
- 49:41[SPEAKER_02]: Like that's, we've already got that.
- 49:42[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, that movie already exists.
- 49:44[SPEAKER_01]: 100%.
- 49:44[SPEAKER_01]: That's when we'll know.
- 49:45[SPEAKER_01]: I will say the modern warfare to campaign is so good that they could probably make a pretty interesting movie of it.
- 49:50[SPEAKER_01]: But whatever, I think something like,
- 49:56[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, I just, I just had it and it has now escaped me.
- 49:59[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, no, no, no, no.
- 50:00[SPEAKER_01]: I think doing something fun in that same vein as like an earthworm gym or something like that, but doing it with like smash brothers.
- 50:06[SPEAKER_01]: Like, you know, there's that internment.
- 50:09[SPEAKER_01]: Doing it almost like blood sport.
- 50:10[SPEAKER_01]: Like, there's some sort of tournament.
- 50:12[SPEAKER_01]: And, you know, make Kirby the main character and everybody's like this little pink blob is gonna beat everybody and then he swallows and we'll get there if you remember.
- 50:19[SPEAKER_01]: Especially, yeah.
- 50:20[SPEAKER_00]: I didn't see Super Mario Bros. Galaxy, but I haven't used to hear it told that it was a cameo fast.
- 50:25[SPEAKER_00]: I'm like, OK, yeah.
- 50:27[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, Fox McLeod isn't like this in that movie.
- 50:29[SPEAKER_00]: I'm pretty wow.
- 50:32[SPEAKER_01]: He's a really weird choice.
- 50:34[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 50:34[SPEAKER_01]: I didn't know that.
- 50:35[SPEAKER_01]: That's fun.
- 50:36[SPEAKER_00]: Yep.
- 50:36[SPEAKER_00]: I don't want you to star fun.
- 50:37[SPEAKER_00]: I think.
- 50:39[SPEAKER_00]: So I think the games that I'm super drawn to are games that feel like what if you play to Prestige TV show or like a really good movie, you know what I mean?
- 50:49[SPEAKER_00]: And so like, I think it is ultimately uninteresting to do a ghost of Sushima movie because that story already exists in a game.
- 50:56[SPEAKER_00]: I think it's much harder to uncharted red-edredemption to like this is one of like the best narratives in gaming.
- 51:04[SPEAKER_01]: Well, I already exist.
- 51:05[SPEAKER_01]: Like I would almost guarantee that's happening at some point.
- 51:08[SPEAKER_00]: I think this issue to be is in the works Red Dead Redemption 2.
- 51:12[SPEAKER_00]: I'm sure will be a movie.
- 51:15[SPEAKER_00]: There are things that are interesting to me.
- 51:16[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, there is a kind of taking for God.
- 51:19[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, Tom Holland.
- 51:22[SPEAKER_00]: There are things that are interesting to me that are kind of saying in the fallout approach.
- 51:28[SPEAKER_00]: Amazon, a while back, Greenlit, a Mass Effect TV show that is an original story taking place in the continuity of the first three games, which I think Mass Effect 1 2 3 is one of the best, like our Prajji experiences in gaming.
- 51:42[SPEAKER_00]: It was foundational for me.
- 51:45[SPEAKER_00]: Netflix, GreenLit, and then UngreenLit, and then ReGreenLit, I think.
- 51:51[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know if it's Green or RedLit right now.
- 51:53[SPEAKER_00]: I was like, a prequel series to Horizon, zeroed on, like taking place at the time of the extinction event.
- 52:02[SPEAKER_00]: I love those games in a way that I know Jordan absolutely despises.
- 52:06[SPEAKER_01]: No, no, no, no, I like to first game quite a bit.
- 52:09[SPEAKER_00]: I think the world building in those games is fantastic.
- 52:12[SPEAKER_00]: The gameplay is not awesome.
- 52:14[SPEAKER_00]: And the second game is a bit of a disappointment.
- 52:16[SPEAKER_00]: But the world building was like a fetch quest that the show would focus on.
- 52:20[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I don't know why that fresh is really disappointing.
- 52:23[SPEAKER_00]: But the world building was really cool.
- 52:25[SPEAKER_00]: And that's by all accounts with the Netflix show would focus on.
- 52:28[SPEAKER_00]: But I think that we're kind of,
- 52:32[SPEAKER_00]: In the same way that the Golden Age of Comic Book movies was marked by those hall-h presentations, where it's like, we're gonna announce 20 movies, and six of them are gonna actually come out.
- 52:42[SPEAKER_00]: Disney Star Wars has been especially plagued by this.
- 52:44[SPEAKER_00]: They've announced like, 30 movies and have made seven.
- 52:50[SPEAKER_00]: I kind of feel that way about video game stuff.
- 52:51[SPEAKER_00]: We're like, we're studios are just grabbing up these IPs and we're gonna make this, we're gonna make this, and then don't, they're just camping on it, so nobody else can.
- 53:00[SPEAKER_00]: Right.
- 53:01[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, and I think that we are likely to see quite a few great ideas go unexplored because of that, you know, I think it's it's also hard to say like what should or shouldn't become a movie from a game, because while I agree that like God of War has already been done, and if you want to see a really good God of War movie, just play the God of War and Ragnarok, but at the same time like,
- 53:26[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, is there an argument to be made?
- 53:28[SPEAKER_01]: And I don't know that I land one way or the other necessarily on this, is there an argument to be made for like the last of us is such a good story that making the show broadens the audience.
- 53:38[SPEAKER_00]: You know, like it broadens the audience.
- 53:41[SPEAKER_00]: And I think it is worthwhile if you do something that is meaningfully different and you need to be adaptation.
- 53:47[SPEAKER_00]: Like I think the last of us, the first season of the show, is great Pedro Pascal, Bella Ramsey, both great performances.
- 53:55[SPEAKER_00]: The thing I think about when I think about season one of the last of us is the Frank and Bill episode.
- 54:00[SPEAKER_00]: That's man up for sure.
- 54:01[SPEAKER_00]: We're Nick Offron, one in Amy for it.
- 54:03[SPEAKER_00]: Like, you can't do that like game, right?
- 54:07[SPEAKER_00]: Like, I think if you're going to adapt it for a television show, you have to do things that you cannot do in a game.
- 54:11[SPEAKER_00]: Yep.
- 54:12[SPEAKER_00]: You could not have done that episode in a game because you don't, there's no fights and you don't, your main character is not in it.
- 54:20[SPEAKER_00]: Which to me means that was worthwhile choice to make for the TV show.
- 54:25[SPEAKER_00]: I think as long as these things like the ghosts of Sushima movie, like, show me things that I couldn't do in the game.
- 54:31[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, understand that this is a different medium and use the strengths of that medium.
- 54:35[SPEAKER_01]: I think there's an argument to be made that the Bioshock movie or show could actually be stronger than the game because I won't spoil it, but like the act three twist of Bioshock might work better on film than, yeah, in a game.
- 54:52[SPEAKER_01]: And I think that could be very interesting.
- 54:55[SPEAKER_00]: So God of War is an interesting example to bring up because I think something you could do in a show that you couldn't in a game is tell the story of God of War 1 through 3 in flashback flashback.
- 55:05[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, 100%.
- 55:05[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 55:06[SPEAKER_00]: Like every episode has a cold open of Kratos and then at his most.
- 55:12[SPEAKER_00]: That is most bloodthirsty and then we kind of like cross narratives when we go back to get the blades.
- 55:16[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 55:18[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 55:19[SPEAKER_01]: How cool would a Haiti show be?
- 55:21[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, my God, dude.
- 55:22[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 55:23[SPEAKER_01]: That would be fantastic to animate it.
- 55:25[SPEAKER_01]: If they try and go live action with it, I'm not interested.
- 55:27[SPEAKER_01]: But if they tap super giant to make, to, you know, can we have the character designs that you've made and can we go?
- 55:33[SPEAKER_01]: It's just so fine animation.
- 55:35[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, my gosh.
- 55:36[SPEAKER_01]: It's so happy.
- 55:37[SPEAKER_01]: You could care if there was great.
- 55:38[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 55:40[SPEAKER_02]: I think so Nintendo, they're working hard.
- 55:43[SPEAKER_02]: And Nintendo, it feels like as a production company,
- 55:48[SPEAKER_02]: is feeling almost, it's no production company is as thoughtful with their IP as Nintendo as it feels like with like video games.
- 55:59[SPEAKER_02]: Definitely not so good.
- 56:00[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe for sure.
- 56:00[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, maybe they're kind of doing that with, but I was looking this up because I thought it would be so good, but like a Metroid Prime, like you could just follow Samus around for seasons of a show.
- 56:09[SPEAKER_02]: Metroid really fun.
- 56:11[SPEAKER_02]: And Bree Larson has said that she's a huge fan of the franchise.
- 56:16[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, man.
- 56:17[SPEAKER_02]: Huge fan of the franchise.
- 56:18[SPEAKER_02]: And she said she would love to play Samus.
- 56:21[SPEAKER_02]: Like she's like, yeah, I would never have anything I'm doing right now.
- 56:25[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 56:25[SPEAKER_01]: Bree, I would love that, too.
- 56:27[SPEAKER_01]: I'm going to kill her.
- 56:27[SPEAKER_01]: She feels like she feels good.
- 56:29[SPEAKER_01]: And it gives such a, you know, it's a Ellen Ripley kind of vibe.
- 56:34[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, it feels like such a bad ass sci-fi.
- 56:38[SPEAKER_02]: So I think that would be so fun.
- 56:39[SPEAKER_02]: I think that would be really popular, too, if they could do a show out of it.
- 56:43[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, for sure.
- 56:45[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, Metroid has a rabid fan base.
- 56:50[SPEAKER_01]: And it's fun because like turning Castlevania into a TV show, they're the genre people refer to it as a Metroidvania because they're both cut from the same cloth.
- 57:01[SPEAKER_01]: So I think it would be fun to give.
- 57:03[SPEAKER_01]: But Metroid is one that I would say, I would actually want it to be live action, I think.
- 57:08[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I think they could do it.
- 57:09[SPEAKER_02]: I think that would be, even with the attempts at Halo, there's some people that like that Halo series.
- 57:13[SPEAKER_02]: I just didn't give it any thought, but it feels like it's not too far off from anything that you would need for a show like Halo.
- 57:19[SPEAKER_02]: You could do with Metro Prime, because it's not going too crazy.
- 57:24[SPEAKER_02]: I think Mega Man could be fun, I don't know.
- 57:27[SPEAKER_02]: There's a lot of take the singular, it feels like a one piece or like an anime type vibe of like here's this person that discovers new powers
- 57:38[SPEAKER_02]: just follow them from season to season, should be pretty easy.
- 57:41[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, to end today's episode, what I'd like for me to us is our name.
- 57:45[SPEAKER_01]: And then tell me the video game you'd really like to see made into a movie or TV show, but the stunt casting that you think would ruin it.
- 57:59[SPEAKER_01]: For two chunks and also a hunk.
- 58:04[SPEAKER_01]: My name's Jordan, and I think for me,
- 58:09[SPEAKER_01]: What I would really like to see is I'd like to see a hitman TV show and I would like it to sort of be the silliness of the hitman games.
- 58:23[SPEAKER_01]: I'd like Agent 47 to be terrifying but also kill people by like hooking them up to blimps and sending them to space and like do all the crazy stuff that he does in the game.
- 58:36[SPEAKER_01]: But
- 58:37[SPEAKER_01]: I do think that in order to kind of bring in a silly audience and make sure that people know it's going to be a comedy.
- 58:42[SPEAKER_01]: I do think 47 would be Danny DeVido.
- 58:45[SPEAKER_02]: Hmm.
- 58:46[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 58:47[SPEAKER_01]: And then also, as I said it, fine.
- 58:51[SPEAKER_01]: I would watch it though, is the thing.
- 58:53[SPEAKER_01]: I'm into it.
- 58:54[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I would do it for sure.
- 58:55[SPEAKER_01]: I'd watch that.
- 58:55[SPEAKER_01]: I would watch it.
- 58:57[SPEAKER_01]: It should be statement.
- 58:58[SPEAKER_00]: I'm does.
- 59:00[SPEAKER_00]: Hot off the heels of its runaway success, Expedition 33 is being adapted into a future-length film.
- 59:07[SPEAKER_00]: Good, general audiences are not as familiar with this, so thankfully I, as your studio executive, have come to you with a full-proof plan to get butts and seats and Chris Pratt, is going to be good stuff.
- 59:18[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it's always good, friend.
- 59:21[SPEAKER_00]: Damn.
- 59:23[SPEAKER_00]: For those who come after you, right?
- 59:27[SPEAKER_02]: I, uh, the most terrified I've ever been, maybe in my life, uh, was playing a game called Outlast.
- 59:35[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, yeah.
- 59:37[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I do.
- 59:37[SPEAKER_02]: That'll get you.
- 59:39[SPEAKER_02]: And I think it's a great IP.
- 59:44[SPEAKER_02]: I think we can make it a show.
- 59:47[SPEAKER_02]: I think we can have one season.
- 59:48[SPEAKER_02]: We can make it a limited series.
