January 3 - Wisdom for the Hidden Places · Bible Chat Devotional

• 0:02
Welcome to Bible Chat, where we have devotional conversations
• 0:06
rooted in Scripture and relevant for today, January 3rd.
• 0:11
Wise up or wipe out. Every day is filled with
• 0:13
choices, and some of them seem small, almost insignificant.
• 0:18
But over time, those choices shape the direction of your
• 0:20
life. Proverbs chapter 2, verses 1 to
• 0:23
22, reminds us that wisdom isn't automatic.
• 0:27
It's something we actively pursue, like hidden treasure.
• 0:30
And at the end of that chapter, verses 21 to 22 draw a clear
• 0:34
contrast. Those who walk with integrity
• 0:36
remain, while those who choose crooked paths eventually lose
• 0:40
their footing. Psalm 3 gives us comfort when
• 0:43
the pressure feels heavy. David wrote this Psalm while
• 0:46
running for his life surrounded by enemies and fear.
• 0:49
Yet he declares in verse three, You, O Lord, are a shield about
• 0:53
me, my glory, and the lifter of my head.
• 0:55
That means God doesn't just protect you from a distance, He
• 0:59
surrounds you. He restores your confidence.
• 1:01
He lifts your head when shame, fear, or failure tries to pull
• 1:05
it down. Choosing wisdom doesn't mean
• 1:07
you'll never struggle. It means you're choosing
• 1:09
protection, clarity, and peace over shortcuts that lead to
• 1:12
regret. When you seek God's wisdom,
• 1:15
you're not limiting your life, you're securing it, even when
• 1:18
temptation whispers that everyone else is doing it.
• 1:21
Wisdom reminds you that God sees the whole picture, not just the
• 1:25
  moment. Let's pray, Heavenly Father,
• 1:27
teach me to seek your wisdom with my whole heart.
• 1:30
Help me choose integrity even when it's hard or unpopular.
• 1:34
Thank you for being my shield and the one who lifts my head
• 1:36
when I feel overwhelmed. Lead me on the path that brings
• 1:39
life and peace in Jesus name, Amen.
• 1:43

• 3:02
Bible reading plan, Proverbs chapter 2, verses 1 to 22 World
• 3:08
English Bible. My son, if you will receive my
• 3:11
words and store up my commandments within you so as to
• 3:14
turn your ear to wisdom and apply your heart to
• 3:17
understanding. Yes, if you call out for
• 3:19
discernment and lift up your voice for understanding, if you
• 3:23
seek her as silver and search for her As for hidden treasures,
• 3:26
then you will understand the fear of Yahweh and find the
• 3:29
knowledge of God. For Yahweh gives wisdom.
• 3:32
Out of His mouth comes knowledge and understanding.
• 3:35
He lays up sound wisdom for the upright.
• 3:38
He is a shield to those who walk in integrity, that he may guard
• 3:41
the paths of justice and preserve the way of His Saints.
• 3:44
Then you will understand righteousness and justice,
• 3:47
equity, and every good path for wisdom will enter into your
• 3:50
heart. Knowledge will be pleasant to
• 3:52
your soul. Discretion will watch over you.
• 3:55
Understanding will keep you to deliver you from the way of
• 3:58
evil, from the men who speak perverse things, who forsake the
• 4:01
paths of uprightness to walk in the ways of darkness, who
• 4:05
rejoice to do evil and delight in the perverseness of evil, who
• 4:09
are crooked in their ways and wayward in their paths.
• 4:12
To deliver you from the strange woman, even from the foreigner
• 4:15
who flatters with her words, who forsakes the friend of her youth
• 4:18
and forgets the covenant of her God.
• 4:20
For her house leads down to death her paths to the departed
• 4:23
spirits. None who go to her return again,
• 4:26
neither do they attain to the paths of life.
• 4:29
Therefore walk in the way of good men and keep the paths of
• 4:32
the righteous. For the upright will dwell in
• 4:34
the land, the perfect will remain in it, but the wicked
• 4:37
will be cut off from the land, the treacherous will be rooted
• 4:40
out of it. Psalm Chapter 3.
• 4:42
World English Bible A Psalm by David when he fled from Absalom,
• 4:46
his son Yahweh. How my adversaries have
• 4:49
increased. Many are those who rise up
• 4:51
against me, many there are who say of my soul there is no help
• 4:55
  for him in God. Selah.
• 4:57
But you Yahweh are a shield around me, my glory, and the one
• 5:00
who lifts up my head. I cry to Yahweh with my voice,
• 5:03
and he answers me out of his holy hill.
• 5:06
Selah. I laid myself down and slept.
• 5:09
I awakened, for Yahweh sustains me.
• 5:12
I will not be afraid of 10s of thousands of people who have set
• 5:14
themselves against me on every side.
• 5:17
Arise Yahweh, save me my God, for you have struck all of my
• 5:20
enemies on the cheekbone. You have broken the teeth of the
• 5:23
  wicked. Salvation belongs to Yahweh.
• 5:26
May your blessing be on your people.
• 5:27
