Transcript
- 0:02Welcome to Bible Chat, where we have devotional conversations
- 0:06rooted in Scripture and relevant for today, January 3rd.
- 0:11Wise up or wipe out. Every day is filled with
- 0:13choices, and some of them seem small, almost insignificant.
- 0:18But over time, those choices shape the direction of your
- 0:20life. Proverbs chapter 2, verses 1 to
- 0:2322, reminds us that wisdom isn't automatic.
- 0:27It's something we actively pursue, like hidden treasure.
- 0:30And at the end of that chapter, verses 21 to 22 draw a clear
- 0:34contrast. Those who walk with integrity
- 0:36remain, while those who choose crooked paths eventually lose
- 0:40their footing. Psalm 3 gives us comfort when
- 0:43the pressure feels heavy. David wrote this Psalm while
- 0:46running for his life surrounded by enemies and fear.
- 0:49Yet he declares in verse three, You, O Lord, are a shield about
- 0:53me, my glory, and the lifter of my head.
- 0:55That means God doesn't just protect you from a distance, He
- 0:59surrounds you. He restores your confidence.
- 1:01He lifts your head when shame, fear, or failure tries to pull
- 1:05it down. Choosing wisdom doesn't mean
- 1:07you'll never struggle. It means you're choosing
- 1:09protection, clarity, and peace over shortcuts that lead to
- 1:12regret. When you seek God's wisdom,
- 1:15you're not limiting your life, you're securing it, even when
- 1:18temptation whispers that everyone else is doing it.
- 1:21Wisdom reminds you that God sees the whole picture, not just the
- 1:25moment. Let's pray, Heavenly Father,
- 1:27teach me to seek your wisdom with my whole heart.
- 1:30Help me choose integrity even when it's hard or unpopular.
- 1:34Thank you for being my shield and the one who lifts my head
- 1:36when I feel overwhelmed. Lead me on the path that brings
- 1:39life and peace in Jesus name, Amen.

- 3:02Bible reading plan, Proverbs chapter 2, verses 1 to 22 World
- 3:08English Bible. My son, if you will receive my
- 3:11words and store up my commandments within you so as to
- 3:14turn your ear to wisdom and apply your heart to
- 3:17understanding. Yes, if you call out for
- 3:19discernment and lift up your voice for understanding, if you
- 3:23seek her as silver and search for her As for hidden treasures,
- 3:26then you will understand the fear of Yahweh and find the
- 3:29knowledge of God. For Yahweh gives wisdom.
- 3:32Out of His mouth comes knowledge and understanding.
- 3:35He lays up sound wisdom for the upright.
- 3:38He is a shield to those who walk in integrity, that he may guard
- 3:41the paths of justice and preserve the way of His Saints.
- 3:44Then you will understand righteousness and justice,
- 3:47equity, and every good path for wisdom will enter into your
- 3:50heart. Knowledge will be pleasant to
- 3:52your soul. Discretion will watch over you.
- 3:55Understanding will keep you to deliver you from the way of
- 3:58evil, from the men who speak perverse things, who forsake the
- 4:01paths of uprightness to walk in the ways of darkness, who
- 4:05rejoice to do evil and delight in the perverseness of evil, who
- 4:09are crooked in their ways and wayward in their paths.
- 4:12To deliver you from the strange woman, even from the foreigner
- 4:15who flatters with her words, who forsakes the friend of her youth
- 4:18and forgets the covenant of her God.
- 4:20For her house leads down to death her paths to the departed
- 4:23spirits. None who go to her return again,
- 4:26neither do they attain to the paths of life.
- 4:29Therefore walk in the way of good men and keep the paths of
- 4:32the righteous. For the upright will dwell in
- 4:34the land, the perfect will remain in it, but the wicked
- 4:37will be cut off from the land, the treacherous will be rooted
- 4:40out of it. Psalm Chapter 3.
- 4:42World English Bible A Psalm by David when he fled from Absalom,
- 4:46his son Yahweh. How my adversaries have
- 4:49increased. Many are those who rise up
- 4:51against me, many there are who say of my soul there is no help
- 4:55for him in God. Selah.
- 4:57But you Yahweh are a shield around me, my glory, and the one
- 5:00who lifts up my head. I cry to Yahweh with my voice,
- 5:03and he answers me out of his holy hill.
- 5:06Selah. I laid myself down and slept.
- 5:09I awakened, for Yahweh sustains me.
- 5:12I will not be afraid of 10s of thousands of people who have set
- 5:14themselves against me on every side.
- 5:17Arise Yahweh, save me my God, for you have struck all of my
- 5:20enemies on the cheekbone. You have broken the teeth of the
- 5:23wicked. Salvation belongs to Yahweh.
- 5:26May your blessing be on your people.
- 5:27Selah. Thanks for joining us on Bible
