- 0:03Speaker 1: This is a podcast called twenty five I was talking.
- 0:08Speaker 2: Sports. I just said, oh my god, before we hit record,
- 0:13Speaker 2: I just I just said, we're gonna do the version
- 0:17Speaker 2: with the singing in it, and then we were just
- 0:18Speaker 2: gonna do sport, and that's why we went sports. And
- 0:20Speaker 2: then it started and you started yelling over it.
- 0:22Speaker 3: Hey, I got it.
- 0:23Speaker 2: Now you just want to sing it ourselves?
- 0:25Speaker 3: No, no, no, no, that's okay, let's go with your origin.
- 0:27Speaker 2: One of the singers here that scared me a little bit.
- 0:30Speaker 2: It's almost like he was having a seizure, like he
- 0:32Speaker 2: just yells, okay, go ahead. We're just doing sports in
- 0:37Speaker 2: the blank spot. Ready, go ahead.
- 0:43Speaker 1: This is a podcast called twenty five Wist talking sports
- 0:48Speaker 1: and they are wearing a whist. So, yeah, it's too bad.
- 0:51Speaker 3: But what did you expect.
- 0:52Speaker 2: It's a podcast called twenty five Whist Souls. Hello, Eddy,
- 0:58Speaker 2: welcome to the show.
- 0:59Speaker 3: Thank you.
- 1:00Speaker 4: That was so good.
- 1:02Speaker 2: All right, John Middlecoff coming up a little bit. We
- 1:04Speaker 2: talked a lot of football, made some notes from over
- 1:06Speaker 2: the weekend, and there's a lot to talk about. But
- 1:10Speaker 2: I want to start with Caylen Clark. I've watched all
- 1:12Speaker 2: three games.
- 1:13Speaker 3: Dang, really, that's crazy.
- 1:16Speaker 2: I would, I would get a jersey. I've watched all
- 1:17Speaker 2: three games I've got, I've got a lot to say.
- 1:19Speaker 2: He's piss me off.
- 1:21Speaker 3: So what's going on? Man? Is it the coach?
- 1:25Speaker 2: No, the brisket ball? She was drafted to the worst
- 1:28Speaker 2: team in the league.
- 1:29Speaker 3: Right, Sure, they got the first pick.
- 1:31Speaker 2: Right. She's making passes that I don't know. I guess
- 1:34Speaker 2: they don't play basket. The other girls in her play basketball.
- 1:36Speaker 2: I mean, she's dropping dimes and they just aren't catching
- 1:39Speaker 2: the ball. It's crazy some of the she's getting turned
- 1:42Speaker 2: over some of these plays. Okay, so here's here's here
- 1:45Speaker 2: you go. I'm gonna give you guys some numbers here
- 1:47Speaker 2: because they're acting like that she's not any good. She's
- 1:52Speaker 2: really struggled through three games. Let me just do a
- 1:54Speaker 2: little comparison for you guys, and then you'll see where
- 1:55Speaker 2: I'm going.
- 1:56Speaker 3: Uh.
- 1:56Speaker 2: The NBA Rookie of the Year this year was.
- 1:58Speaker 1: Who is when Kaitlan Clark is wimby NBAA Clark played
- 2:03Speaker 1: three games.
- 2:04Speaker 3: I missed the w part of this.
- 2:05Speaker 2: Whm bin Yama got it? Okay, so game one when
- 2:09Speaker 2: beIN Yama NBA, he's a rookie of the year right.
- 2:11Speaker 2: He had fifteen points, five rebounds to assists. Game one.
- 2:15Speaker 2: Nobody was crying Wimby sucks. We can't believe Wimby's Whimby's terrible.
- 2:19Speaker 2: He only scored fifteen. He only went fifteen to five
- 2:21Speaker 2: and two. Caitlyn Clark's first game twenty points, three assists,
- 2:26Speaker 2: no rebounds. Okay, I would say those are pretty comparable.
- 2:29Speaker 2: Game two Wimby twenty one points, twelve rebounds, one assist.
- 2:33Speaker 2: Game two for Kaitlyn Clark uh seven rebounds from zero,
- 2:39Speaker 2: so she had a nine to seven to six line,
- 2:40Speaker 2: not as many points, but went up in rebounds and assists.
- 2:44Speaker 2: Game three Wimby eleven points, five rebounds to assist. Game
- 2:47Speaker 2: three for Kaitlin Clark twenty two points, eight rebounds, eight
- 2:49Speaker 2: assists on a terrible team.
- 2:53Speaker 3: Different position, though.
- 2:54Speaker 2: Doesn't matter. They weren't screaming Wimby sucks. There's all this
- 2:59Speaker 2: pressure on Kaitlyn Clark to like own the league in
- 3:05Speaker 2: such a way that like Diana Trosso whatever was like
- 3:10Speaker 2: she's she's gonna have to meet real women when she
- 3:12Speaker 2: plays at WNBA. She's still better than all of them.
- 3:16Speaker 2: They have to take their entire defense and focus on
- 3:19Speaker 2: Kaitlin Clark, and that's what they do. They blitz her
- 3:23Speaker 2: eighty percent of time when she gets the ball and
- 3:25Speaker 2: she's still scoring twenty twenty two and nine.
- 3:31Speaker 3: I was gonna talk to you for saying hold.
- 3:32Speaker 2: On, I got more to say. She played the Liberty
- 3:34Speaker 2: in game three. Watch the whole game they got to
- 3:36Speaker 2: beat Liberty are good. And the press conference afterward, the
- 3:39Speaker 2: Liberty were talking about how they sold the game out
- 3:42Speaker 2: and they made two million dollars in tickets. And it's
- 3:44Speaker 2: because people are loving the product of the WNBA. Check
- 3:47Speaker 2: back the next WNBA game when Kaitlin Clark's not there.
- 3:50Speaker 2: Not once did they say it was because Kaitlin Clark was.
- 3:53Speaker 2: They not one time gave her any sort of her
- 3:56Speaker 2: deserve flowers, any sort of shine. It was because Katelyn
- 4:00Speaker 2: Clark was their It's not because THEWBA generally kind of sucks.
- 4:05Speaker 2: There are some good players, but the Indiana Fever, they're awful.
- 4:09Speaker 3: They're terrible.
- 4:11Speaker 2: And the fact that Kateln Clark can average eighteen through
- 4:13Speaker 2: her first three games whenever the entire defense they're building
- 4:18Speaker 2: their entire defense around her, they're blitzeeing her. It is
- 4:22Speaker 2: wild to see these people still hate on her, people
- 4:25Speaker 2: subtweeting her whenever. The reason that the numbers are up
- 4:31Speaker 2: butts in seats highest WNBA games. It's like the Old
- 4:35Speaker 2: West was one. Are Kaitlyn Clark games that ref the
- 4:40Speaker 2: first game they call two fouls super quick on her ticket,
- 4:43Speaker 2: tack fouls that had had to sit at the bench, Like,
- 4:45Speaker 2: what are they doing? And the fact that these other
- 4:48Speaker 2: women are hating on her, They're costing themselves money. Why
- 4:51Speaker 2: do you think they're getting a fly private now because
- 4:54Speaker 2: there's a transcendent star that is now in the league.
- 4:56Speaker 2: That league loses so much money. The WAA makes no money.
- 4:59Speaker 2: They lose money. They lose money hand over fist that
- 5:01Speaker 2: NBA pays for the WNBA to do anything. That's why
- 5:04Speaker 2: they don't make high salaries. Hopefully that's not always the case.
- 5:06Speaker 2: Hopefully Kittlin Clark is able to transcend into people like
- 5:12Speaker 2: me watching games and following along. I watched three games.
- 5:14Speaker 2: I've never seen three w big games in my life. Never.
- 5:17Speaker 3: It's crazy, you're watching all this.
- 5:19Speaker 2: Can't wait, can't wait for the next one. I'm trying
- 5:20Speaker 2: to find where the ion channel is. I don't even
- 5:22Speaker 2: know it was a channel.
- 5:24Speaker 3: They have one Ion Cosby show we run now it's
- 5:26Speaker 3: like forensic files, a lot of forensic files.
- 5:29Speaker 2: But it's all these other players constantly too, like just
- 5:33Speaker 2: chirping about how and it's not always Kittlet Clark isn't good,
- 5:36Speaker 2: but it's about, well, this player deserves to be the
- 5:41Speaker 2: rocket ship. You need to make sure that you're not
- 5:43Speaker 2: taking a dump on the rocket ship. You know, you
- 5:45Speaker 2: can put to shine on other people too, but she
- 5:48Speaker 2: is what's going to get people that haven't been fans
- 5:49Speaker 2: of that league to look at the league. And so
- 5:52Speaker 2: the fact that they're not like embracing that is wild
- 5:55Speaker 2: to me. The Liberty had a press conference like we
- 5:58Speaker 2: had two million, No, Kaitlin Clark had two million dollars,
- 6:02Speaker 2: And even the announcers during the game they were like, well,
- 6:05Speaker 2: we got to tell you, it's like eighty percent Liberty
- 6:07Speaker 2: and twenty percent Kaitlin Clark fans here. So it's a
- 6:09Speaker 2: Liberty who made the players. Even Liberty fans wanted to
- 6:12Speaker 2: see Kaitlin Clark. Jason sadeikis, who's like part of the
- 6:14Speaker 2: Liberty group, he admitted he had a Kaytlin Clark shirt
- 6:17Speaker 2: underneath his hoodie, like when you finally get that Michael
- 6:21Speaker 2: Jordan or Tiger Woods, or you don't do everything possible
- 6:26Speaker 2: to minimize them. It's what I've never seen a company,
- 6:32Speaker 2: well I haven't been on the interworkings of many companies,
- 6:35Speaker 2: but try to shoot themselves in the foot. So that's
- 6:40Speaker 2: my point.
- 6:40Speaker 1: Do you think they're not realizing they're doing this or
- 6:42Speaker 1: what do you think they're in They're jealous, They're jealous,
- 6:45Speaker 1: but well, what's the jealousy. She's helping everyone around her.
- 6:48Speaker 2: But again, they're jealous because they think there are better
- 6:51Speaker 2: players that she just came from college. She doesn't deserve
- 6:54Speaker 2: abcdefg all the eyes on her, she never won a
- 6:59Speaker 2: national championship whatever. Of course it's all jealousy.
- 7:02Speaker 5: You would think that the front office would be like, hey, guys,
- 7:05Speaker 5: cool down, like this.
- 7:06Speaker 2: Is really good for us. If I were the WNBA
- 7:08Speaker 2: commissioner after that first game where that stupid ref gives
- 7:11Speaker 2: her two tiki tak fouls at the beginning of her
- 7:12Speaker 2: first game ever and she had to go sit the bench. Yeah,
- 7:16Speaker 2: you need those fans. And I'm not saying if she fouls,
- 7:18Speaker 2: don't call them. You think those fans or like that's
- 7:21Speaker 2: a good call. Ref. We enjoy a good, fair, honest game,
- 7:24Speaker 2: and we're on your side if it's if we got
- 7:26Speaker 2: to put no NBA. There's a reason the NBA is
- 7:29Speaker 2: such a star. Lebron gets Lebron calls.
- 7:32Speaker 6: That is a thing.
- 7:33Speaker 2: Yes, yeh, people, it's a business. It's not the freaking Olympics,
- 7:37Speaker 2: and you want it to maintain. Uh, it's honesty and
- 7:42Speaker 2: you wanted to, but at the same time, you got
- 7:45Speaker 2: to find that line of it. It's also a business.
- 7:47Speaker 2: It's why every team doesn't get put in primetime games
- 7:49Speaker 2: an equal amount. It's not We're not Russia, it's not communists.
- 7:53Speaker 2: Everybody doesn't get equal So I was just watching the
- 7:58Speaker 2: ESPN people just go to town on on how the
- 8:00Speaker 2: Liberty have just built their fan base. I'm like, you
- 8:02Speaker 2: guys are out of your mind this. If Kaitlin Clark
- 8:04Speaker 2: wasn't there, this would not have happened.
- 8:05Speaker 5: See I saw that story. I had no idea they
- 8:07Speaker 5: even played Kaitlin Clark exactly. I didn't know fl for
- 8:12Speaker 5: the headline.
- 8:12Speaker 2: They need to protect the franchise. Ye And also again, people,
- 8:16Speaker 2: I guess Kaylin Clark's not that good. You're out of
- 8:18Speaker 2: your mind. They're scheming their entire defense to stop just
- 8:23Speaker 2: her because the other four like us four.
- 8:27Speaker 6: What are you saying?
- 8:29Speaker 3: Now you know exactly what he's saying.
- 8:32Speaker 2: So anyway, that's my Caitlin Clark monologue.
- 8:36Speaker 3: You're really in this. I'm ready to do.
- 8:38Speaker 2: I told you I'll look for Eyeon. Yeah, and now
- 8:41Speaker 2: all that's doing is making me route for her even more.
- 8:42Speaker 2: I don't even care about I don't I have no
- 8:44Speaker 2: allegiance to Iowa. I don't know anything about. I mean,
- 8:47Speaker 2: I watched Caitlin Clark play in college a few times.
- 8:50Speaker 2: She changed that. I never went to watch unless it
- 8:52Speaker 2: was an Arkansas Raised By women's basketball game or like
- 8:55Speaker 2: once South Carolina.
- 8:57Speaker 1: Is Sadikas the one that was there in all the
- 8:59Speaker 1: Iowa game. I was getting him and Bateman mixed up.
- 9:04Speaker 2: Yeah, it's pretty.
- 9:05Speaker 6: Yeah, that's fair.
- 9:06Speaker 2: I was for good both white guys.
- 9:08Speaker 1: Ted laslu is the only way I can know it's Sadekas.
- 9:10Speaker 2: I never thought Sadaka's was that funny until ted lasts.
- 9:12Speaker 2: So he's just so generic looking, but I never assigned
- 9:15Speaker 2: him with being like somebody that's super funny. He is
- 9:17Speaker 2: super funny, but he's so generically just a white dude
- 9:21Speaker 2: that you're like, yeah, I know, you're kind of good looking,
- 9:24Speaker 2: you shouldn't be that funny. And he's not so good
- 9:26Speaker 2: looking that you're like, like, for example, Matt Rife, when
- 9:28Speaker 2: people start to love Hi, matt yf he's a really
- 9:30Speaker 2: good looking guy, and you're like, and he's funny, that's weird.
- 9:32Speaker 2: A good look, really good looking guy's funny. Good Looking
- 9:34Speaker 2: people are either really ugly or really funny, rarely in
- 9:37Speaker 2: the middle, and when they are, you kind of lose them.
- 9:40Speaker 2: Who are other middle looking funny dudes.
- 9:42Speaker 6: You think it's because it's unrelatable.
- 9:44Speaker 2: No, I think you just get lost in the mix.
- 9:46Speaker 3: I think Ryan Goslin's kind of funny.
- 9:48Speaker 2: Ryan Goslin's great looking.
- 9:49Speaker 3: He's great looking, but he's.
- 9:52Speaker 2: Also not a comedian.
- 9:54Speaker 3: But it's just weird.
- 9:56Speaker 2: Is really funny. But also but he's not even known
- 9:58Speaker 2: for that, but yes, he's really good looking. Think about
- 10:01Speaker 2: people that are known for being funny. It's there are
- 10:03Speaker 2: a lot a lot of six sevens and seven and
- 10:05Speaker 2: a half. So it's either like Tues yeah, or like
- 10:08Speaker 2: eight or nine.
- 10:09Speaker 3: Like Adam Sandler really funny, he's not good looking.
- 10:13Speaker 5: Yeah, you know, speaking of comedians, I saw Bobby Lee
- 10:18Speaker 5: out the other night in California.
- 10:20Speaker 2: I love that in California.
- 10:22Speaker 6: Yeah, and he was that he was at my hometown bar.
- 10:24Speaker 3: Dude. Really, Kelly's the one that I was.
- 10:26Speaker 2: Yeah, that's fun. You say anything too now he talk
- 10:30Speaker 2: to him. No, it was that something else I want
- 10:32Speaker 2: to say.
- 10:32Speaker 3: Oh boy, Caitlyn Clark.
- 10:34Speaker 2: No similar though. I'm watching the Knicks and the Pacers yesterday.
- 10:38Speaker 2: But the Pacers even there, according to the ESPN, for
- 10:41Speaker 2: the Pacers even there, they even exist, Like, yeah, it
- 10:45Speaker 2: sucks everybody in the next they've been hurt. Everybody's been
- 10:48Speaker 2: hurt on the Knicks. They've they walk to the game,
- 10:50Speaker 2: they get shot in the foot. I mean everybody. Car
- 10:53Speaker 2: wreck for every player has been in a car rock.
- 10:55Speaker 3: We've been shot.
- 10:55Speaker 2: In the last couple of weeks for sure, Brunton breaks
- 10:58Speaker 2: his hand or fractures his hand. Uh during the game,
- 11:01Speaker 2: that's when you knew it just was over over. Although
- 11:03Speaker 2: for a second, oh, DC Jingjo is his name, like
- 11:07Speaker 2: he was going crazy man and so. But according to ESPN,
- 11:12Speaker 2: the Pacers didn't exist. It was all Knicks. It was
- 11:17Speaker 2: they had a Stephen a Smith like Pep talk to
- 11:20Speaker 2: the Knicks before the game.
- 11:21Speaker 6: Oh my gosh, it's wild.
- 11:24Speaker 2: They did not want the next one. And I get it.
- 11:25Speaker 2: You want New York and Boston. You liked the old rivalry.
- 11:28Speaker 2: You like the Boston and New York both major markets.
- 11:31Speaker 3: You like.
- 11:31Speaker 2: But at some point it was gonna be us playing them,
- 11:35Speaker 2: and the game was it was gonna be us playing
- 11:38Speaker 2: the Celtics. Yeah, the game was never closed when d
- 11:41Speaker 2: vidden Joe later on when he starts going because he
- 11:45Speaker 2: was playing. But the Pacer shot almost seventy percent yesterday.
- 11:49Speaker 2: They were They weren't missing.
- 11:50Speaker 3: A So we like that.
- 11:51Speaker 2: We're a pacer a pacer show always.
- 11:55Speaker 3: No, that's true always.
- 11:57Speaker 2: But did you go to the Pacers with us?
- 11:59Speaker 3: Yeah? What do you mean you don't remember Havin be.
- 12:02Speaker 1: I don't we all we're all together having a great time.
- 12:06Speaker 2: Well remember he didn't go to the very first first ones.
- 12:09Speaker 6: Oh yeah that was lastly.
- 12:11Speaker 2: Yeah, very very But he's such a hater. I thought
- 12:14Speaker 2: if he actually did go, he'd have a little bit
- 12:15Speaker 2: of like, I like the Pacers, but I'm root for
- 12:17Speaker 2: the Celtics. Now, he's just a jerk.
- 12:19Speaker 3: Interesting.
- 12:19Speaker 1: Both of your gripes today are new York teams taking
- 12:23Speaker 1: all the credit for Indiana teams.
- 12:25Speaker 6: You're in New York cater.
- 12:26Speaker 7: I like that.
- 12:27Speaker 2: I'm a New York cater for sure. Nice just because
- 12:30Speaker 2: they think they own everything. But mostly it's about all
- 12:33Speaker 2: the players around the league that I keep trying to
- 12:37Speaker 2: like it, like like smear their boopy wan Kaitlyn Clark.
- 12:40Speaker 2: I'm not even a Kaitlyn Clark person.
- 12:42Speaker 3: Interesting imagery there.
- 12:44Speaker 2: She don't deserve it.
- 12:46Speaker 3: Justice for Kaitlyn, yea justice for Kaitlyn.
- 12:49Speaker 1: I haven't seen a game yet, though, I'll admit, hey,
- 12:51Speaker 1: don't no, you know what, I'll probably tonight I'm not
- 12:54Speaker 1: doing anything. No, I am doing something brick And then
- 12:58Speaker 1: Tuesday you got a starting back up, so probably not.
- 13:01Speaker 2: Also Game seven the Denver Minnesota.
- 13:05Speaker 3: We're back, baby out.
- 13:09Speaker 2: I'm happy for you because because you're still in the
- 13:12Speaker 2: mix for your bet yes my future. I kind of
- 13:14Speaker 2: I had hedged a bit because I bought two Aunt
- 13:16Speaker 2: rookie cards before the playoffs, so if they kept winning,
- 13:20Speaker 2: the value of those were going to go up. But
- 13:22Speaker 2: if they lost, I'd bet on Denver to come back
- 13:25Speaker 2: and win the series. So I'm I'm happy. I was
- 13:27Speaker 2: happy either way. It's cool to see that, but they
- 13:29Speaker 2: were down twenty at the half. It's it's two different games.
- 13:33Speaker 2: So but even going to the Oka see Dallas like
- 13:36Speaker 2: that ended sadly, I kind of wanted to see Oklahoma
- 13:38Speaker 2: City move on there.
- 13:39Speaker 3: I'm sorry. I'm sorry about that. Yeah, big Oklahoma City fan.
- 13:43Speaker 2: Well, I would say if I had to pick a team,
- 13:44Speaker 2: that would bet I. I'm not a big fan. I'm
- 13:47Speaker 2: a fan.
- 13:47Speaker 3: It's family.
- 13:49Speaker 2: I'm a fan. It's Caitlyn's favorite team I have. I
- 13:51Speaker 2: have a friend over there the place for them.
- 13:54Speaker 3: But he played great too, by the way, Yeah, he
- 13:56Speaker 3: did play well.
- 13:57Speaker 2: The other Janla Williams, the one who gets most of
- 13:59Speaker 2: the care he didn't play.
- 13:59Speaker 3: That have a very good series. Not that serious.
- 14:02Speaker 1: No, no, hey, can you explain something to me though,
- 14:05Speaker 1: Just help me understand a little bit, Like how does
- 14:07Speaker 1: like Denver look so awesome and then Denver not look
- 14:10Speaker 1: so awesome, and then like Timberwolves like look awesome and
- 14:13Speaker 1: then not look awesome and then come back and look awesome.
- 14:15Speaker 1: How does this happen? Because when my kids play their teams,
- 14:18Speaker 1: they always like we suck, like we always looked bad.
- 14:21Speaker 1: And then the teams that we play like they're always good.
- 14:24Speaker 2: And that's a funny question to ask, because there really
- 14:25Speaker 2: wasn't a good game all series. In Game seven, it
- 14:30Speaker 2: was like two different games, so it wasn't they weren't
- 14:32Speaker 2: even consistent in the game, Like they went at halftime
- 14:35Speaker 2: and Minnesota made their changes and it so happened to
- 14:38Speaker 2: be exactly right, and Denver made theirs and it turned
- 14:40Speaker 2: out to be exactly wrong.
- 14:42Speaker 1: Exactly, So I don't know, like Jamal Murray can shoot
- 14:46Speaker 1: forty points two games in a row, He's awesome and
- 14:48Speaker 1: then like not not scored like more than ten points.
- 14:50Speaker 2: And how lucky was he not to get kicked out
- 14:51Speaker 2: of a game for throwing the stuff away they heat
- 14:53Speaker 2: back pay. Yeah, it's kind of So those were my notes.
- 14:57Speaker 2: I have a Scottie Scheffler note that I wrote when
- 15:01Speaker 2: he goes he goes to the big House.
- 15:03Speaker 3: He like it's not over for him, right, like it's over.
- 15:06Speaker 2: They're gonna drop charges.
- 15:07Speaker 3: Oh they are?
- 15:07Speaker 2: I think, Yeah, I knew they were announcing they were
- 15:10Speaker 2: going to.
- 15:11Speaker 1: Did they ever explain exactly what happened, Like did somebody
- 15:15Speaker 1: wave them through or did he big time them and say,
- 15:18Speaker 1: like what I Scheffler going in.
- 15:20Speaker 2: He never said that. As a matter of fact, he
- 15:22Speaker 2: and the one time he should have name dropped himself,
- 15:24Speaker 2: he never said that.
- 15:25Speaker 1: Yeah, I saw him say that in the press conference.
- 15:26Speaker 1: Never said he was Scotti Sheffler.
- 15:28Speaker 2: Where I think the confusion was there was that accident
- 15:30Speaker 2: where the person was killed. Yes, right, it was one
- 15:32Speaker 2: of the volunteer workers, and so it was bigger than
- 15:35Speaker 2: just a normal security deal with Like there were other
- 15:38Speaker 2: cops there and it was dark, and the police officer
- 15:42Speaker 2: that ended up riding the car whatever that means, was
- 15:46Speaker 2: in an all yellow jacket. Didn't look like because I
- 15:50Speaker 2: would look at other pictures of other cops if I
- 15:52Speaker 2: were Scotty Scheffler, and people were always coming up to
- 15:54Speaker 2: my car. Anyway, you gotta think he's a massive star.
- 15:56Speaker 1: But the way they described is he was dragging the
- 15:59Speaker 1: cops Like that to me is like cowing.
- 16:01Speaker 3: What stop? Like it is?
- 16:03Speaker 2: I know, a drag feels weird because what they kept
- 16:05Speaker 2: say they said dragged fifteen yards. Yeah, Like I feel
- 16:08Speaker 2: like it's got to be like forty yards for a
- 16:09Speaker 2: real drag and something's got a scrape.
- 16:12Speaker 4: Yeah, I feel like.
- 16:13Speaker 2: The cops just like yo yo, yo yo, hold on
- 16:15Speaker 2: because you can do that in a quick ten to
- 16:16Speaker 2: fifteen years. So I think it was a big misunderstanding.
- 16:21Speaker 2: I think the police officer did not look like a
- 16:23Speaker 2: police officer in a full yellow jacket at night when
- 16:26Speaker 2: you have a really high profile figure. It's probably just
- 16:27Speaker 2: people coming up to him all the time. And he
- 16:29Speaker 2: was also told to go around, but they didn't know
- 16:32Speaker 2: the situation was going to be that uh, that intense.
- 16:37Speaker 2: So I think it was a really bad misunderstanding. But
- 16:40Speaker 2: he was like I went and stretched in prison. He
- 16:42Speaker 2: did sorry jail different different.
- 16:46Speaker 1: I mean, dude goes to jail, makes his tea time,
- 16:48Speaker 1: shoots a sixty six, like he's my hero.
- 16:51Speaker 2: Probably got to on that next day though. You know
- 16:53Speaker 2: some days you don't get any sleep jet lag. Well
- 16:55Speaker 2: you'll get like one hour sleep. I will sometimes and
- 16:57Speaker 2: I'll come and I'll do this show or have a
- 16:59Speaker 2: comedy shit, and I'm like, I'm on one. I only
- 17:02Speaker 2: go one hour sleep, but I'm on. But it's that
- 17:03Speaker 2: next day where it kind of all hits you.
- 17:05Speaker 6: It's almost like when you're sore after workout.
- 17:07Speaker 2: The second day is what got him. The fourth day,
- 17:09Speaker 2: okay was him just like all of the adrenaline from
- 17:13Speaker 2: that day is now gone and just and.
- 17:16Speaker 1: Never did I ever think the Scottie Shuffler is a tough,
- 17:18Speaker 1: tough manly dude, right, but I still don't. He kind
- 17:21Speaker 1: of seemed like a little like a little bee, you know,
- 17:23Speaker 1: the way he's like. I was shaking in jail, and
- 17:24Speaker 1: I asked the cop.
- 17:25Speaker 3: Oh, you thought, so, will you come sit with me
- 17:27Speaker 3: and talk to her? Like, bro, you're just that I
- 17:31Speaker 3: heard him say that.
- 17:31Speaker 2: I didn't feel like he was like that.
- 17:32Speaker 3: I felt like he was just like, don't say that.
- 17:34Speaker 3: Don't say that trying.
- 17:36Speaker 2: To tell your wife.
- 17:37Speaker 6: Don't don't tell the world that, dude.
- 17:40Speaker 3: I asked the cop to come, will you come talk
- 17:41Speaker 3: to me?
- 17:42Speaker 2: Just impression. I asked the cop to come sit with me.
- 17:47Speaker 1: No, No, like I would make up stories like yeah, man,
- 17:52Speaker 1: you know I was running up. I made a knife
- 17:54Speaker 1: out of a stick. I was ready to go, you know.
- 17:56Speaker 2: Built a shank in like six minutes and like community
- 18:00Speaker 2: lock up.
- 18:01Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 18:02Speaker 2: Weird story though, Uh yeah. And you saw like TikTok
- 18:05Speaker 2: get all political on both sides, and it's like it's
- 18:07Speaker 2: obviously just misunderstanding by everybody. Nobody did anything with any
- 18:13Speaker 2: malicious intent either side to like be like, I'll show you.
- 18:17Speaker 3: Did they get you with the headline when it all started.
- 18:20Speaker 2: No, because I slept in because we flew into back
- 18:24Speaker 2: from the ACMs. Was that Friday morning. Friday morning, Okay,
- 18:28Speaker 2: So we flew in and got in like one in
- 18:32Speaker 2: the morning. So by the time I got to sleep,
- 18:34Speaker 2: it was two, slept until eleven or something. So by
- 18:37Speaker 2: the it had the whole story had kind of happened,
- 18:41Speaker 2: and he was already back on the course.
- 18:44Speaker 1: Due the morning headline was Scottie Scheffler arrested one dead.
- 18:50Speaker 2: No way before you knew what they did that purpose.
- 18:55Speaker 2: That's so stupid.
- 18:56Speaker 3: One dead, unbelievable. That's a stupid They gotta not do that.
- 19:00Speaker 2: I would have clicked. That's a pretty good one. Yeah,
- 19:03Speaker 2: all right, coming up, we have a John Middlecoff. I
- 19:07Speaker 2: think we're good there. Let's let's do it. Take a
- 19:08Speaker 2: little break, we'll come back. All right now, We're gonna
- 19:12Speaker 2: talk with John Middlecoff. Love the guy. I'm a big
- 19:15Speaker 2: fan of his podcast. John's a former NFL scout who
- 19:18Speaker 2: worked under how I Roseman and Andy Reid and Philadelphia
- 19:20Speaker 2: back in the day. He has a podcast called Three
- 19:22Speaker 2: and out, which I hope you check it out. It's
- 19:25Speaker 2: also on Collin Cowhart's podcast network, A Super Smart Football Guy.
- 19:28Speaker 2: I listened to a show all the time on Twitter
- 19:30Speaker 2: and Instagram at John Middlecoff. Here he is on Right
- 19:34Speaker 2: Now with John Middlecoff, who does one of my favorite podcasts,
- 19:37Speaker 2: the Three and Out Podcast. I've listened to you talk
- 19:41Speaker 2: about the draft many times, but I haven't been able
- 19:44Speaker 2: to ask these specific questions for our audience. So I
- 19:46Speaker 2: do want to start John with the Falcons and how
- 19:49Speaker 2: do you feel now just weeks out instead of the
- 19:52Speaker 2: day out after they go and they take Panics in
- 19:54Speaker 2: the first round.
- 19:56Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean, I it's hard to get over, to
- 19:58Speaker 4: be honest with you, because part of the a front office,
- 20:01Speaker 4: and you know a GM a coach is balancing the
- 20:07Speaker 4: near and the far right. So you always got to
- 20:09Speaker 4: be thinking about the future. And Cousins is thirty six
- 20:12Speaker 4: years old and or his achilles last year against the Packers.
- 20:16Speaker 4: But you only have so many resources. This is not baseball, right,
- 20:20Speaker 4: This is everyone is on an even playing field. Everyone
- 20:24Speaker 4: has the same amount of money, and everyone has the
- 20:26Speaker 4: same amount of draft picks, and then you just get
- 20:28Speaker 4: to choose how you allocate them. Like, think about the Browns.
- 20:32Speaker 4: They haven't had first round picks because they chose to
- 20:34Speaker 4: trade for Deshaun Watson and then give him a huge
- 20:37Speaker 4: amount of money. So the moment you invest in Kirk Cousins,
- 20:41Speaker 4: you are living in the present for the next couple
- 20:45Speaker 4: of years. So to use that pick on a quarterback,
- 20:49Speaker 4: it'd be one thing if he was a major project
- 20:51Speaker 4: and a guy that needed a lot of work. He's
- 20:54Speaker 4: a twenty three to twenty four year old, basically six
- 20:57Speaker 4: year starter who's kind of ready made. So I just
- 21:01Speaker 4: I can't fathom the logic behind it. And the other
- 21:04Speaker 4: thing is they are locker room dynamics at play, right.
- 21:08Speaker 4: So if if someone hired the next DJ podcaster who
- 21:15Speaker 4: was way younger, to a lot of money, not as
- 21:17Speaker 4: much money as you're making, but a lot of money,
- 21:19Speaker 4: and told this guy's the next guy, well, your crew
- 21:23Speaker 4: and people, it just it would not facilitate I would
- 21:30Speaker 4: say healthy locker room dynamics. And the kirk Cousins can't
- 21:34Speaker 4: practice during OTAs, so who is out there taking all
- 21:37Speaker 4: the reps? Michael Pennox, Well, they don't have a veteran
- 21:40Speaker 4: leadent team. They have a bunch of young guys, So
- 21:43Speaker 4: I just think it's going to be weird. Now, winning
- 21:46Speaker 4: cures all so if they win, no one will care.
- 21:50Speaker 4: But they didn't exactly just sign Tom Brady, right, this
- 21:52Speaker 4: guy doesn't have a long track record of winning at
- 21:55Speaker 4: a high level. So it's just very weird. It really is.
- 22:00Speaker 4: I don't want to say unprecedented, because we've seen teams
- 22:02Speaker 4: draft quarterbacks, but when Patrick Mahomes was he was going
- 22:06Speaker 4: to get a red shirt year and then if it
- 22:08Speaker 4: went well, they were going to transition. And they did
- 22:11Speaker 4: it right. JJ McCarthy, the Michigan quarterback drafted to Minnesota.
- 22:16Speaker 4: They have a bridge quarterback in Sam Darnold, and then
- 22:18Speaker 4: you can transition Drake May with the Patriots Jacoby Brissett
- 22:23Speaker 4: bridge transition. That one hundred million dollars for multiple seasons
- 22:27Speaker 4: is not exactly a bridge situation. So to me, these
- 22:32Speaker 4: are not robots. These are human beings. And I don't
- 22:35Speaker 4: care what business or industry you're in when you kind
- 22:39Speaker 4: of like, I don't want to say they set up
- 22:42Speaker 4: for a divide, but the divide is very very possible,
- 22:46Speaker 4: especially with young influential people, which they have a lot
- 22:50Speaker 4: of young influential players So.
- 22:53Speaker 2: A couple thoughts off of that. With Atlanta, you have
- 22:55Speaker 2: a coach that's that's been caught without a quarterback, right,
- 22:58Speaker 2: and so a little bit is you just trying to
- 23:00Speaker 2: make sure that he has at least a quarterback? And
- 23:02Speaker 2: then two is there maybe do we not know how
- 23:04Speaker 2: that injury is healing with Kirk Cousins. I mean, could
- 23:09Speaker 2: that be a factor as well?
- 23:11Speaker 4: I mean Cousins says he's fine and he'll be ready
- 23:13Speaker 4: to go week one. Obviously, I would say when we
- 23:18Speaker 4: were younger, an Achilles injury in sports would derail your career.
- 23:22Speaker 4: I think with modern medicine in twenty twenty four, it's
- 23:24Speaker 4: pretty clear this is not a Dan Marino situation. And Cousins,
- 23:29Speaker 4: unlike Rodgers, is a player that never had to scramble around,
- 23:32Speaker 4: so he, in theory, should transition better. But to me,
- 23:37Speaker 4: the moment you signed him to that contract, you do
- 23:39Speaker 4: a pretty intensive physical and would have a pretty good
- 23:42Speaker 4: idea of where he stood in terms of the injury
- 23:47Speaker 4: trajectory of the return. And yeah, I hear what you're
- 23:51Speaker 4: saying about Raheem Morris, but I also think it I
- 23:55Speaker 4: think it would be easier with a older veteran coach
- 23:58Speaker 4: that has a long tenure as running the show back
- 24:01Speaker 4: to the locker room dynamics, and I know Rahiem's a
- 24:04Speaker 4: good guy and everyone loves him. I just think things
- 24:06Speaker 4: could get weird fast.
- 24:09Speaker 2: Bo Knicks has been getting very positive reports coming from practice,
- 24:12Speaker 2: but who doesn't but bo Knicks in that system. Listen,
- 24:16Speaker 2: we were hearing about even before the draft that he
- 24:19Speaker 2: would be perfect for Denver and what he wanted in
- 24:22Speaker 2: a quarterback, and it turns out that's where he ends
- 24:24Speaker 2: up going. Are we just is it normal to get
- 24:27Speaker 2: such positive reports back about any quarterback at this point?
- 24:30Speaker 2: And do you feel like Bonnicks could just kind of
- 24:31Speaker 2: pop in and be the next JV Drew Brees Well.
- 24:36Speaker 4: I think there's two things. I don't think you can
- 24:38Speaker 4: put too much stock into shorts and T shirts in
- 24:41Speaker 4: the spring. If it's negative, you got a problem. And
- 24:45Speaker 4: even if it's negative, it doesn't mean that much. If
- 24:48Speaker 4: you remember back when Jamar Chase was drafted by the Bengals,
- 24:50Speaker 4: he dropped everything in practice, I would say that worked
- 24:53Speaker 4: out pretty well. Jamar Chase can catch, so one element
- 24:58Speaker 4: of this is his the biggest proponent in backer in
- 25:01Speaker 4: the building is the head coach who's on a ninety
- 25:04Speaker 4: million dollar contract, so it's going to be very positive.
- 25:07Speaker 4: I would say this. I went back after he was
- 25:10Speaker 4: drafted and just kind of spent like a five minute
- 25:13Speaker 4: YouTube page just looking at his some of his throws,
- 25:16Speaker 4: and he kind of reminded me of Derek Carr and
- 25:18Speaker 4: Jimmy Garoppolo when they were coming out. Now, they were
- 25:21Speaker 4: small school guys. Derek went to Fresdent State and Jimmy
- 25:24Speaker 4: went to Southern, Northern, Western Eastern Illinois one of those schools,
- 25:29Speaker 4: and both those guys have had very you know, productive
- 25:32Speaker 4: careers when they've been with a good coach. So I
- 25:35Speaker 4: would say that Bo Nix gets to go with a
- 25:37Speaker 4: guy that has a lot of success calling offenses. His
- 25:39Speaker 4: head coach is the offensive coordinator, and his offense is
- 25:43Speaker 4: predicated on getting rid of the ball fast and it's
- 25:46Speaker 4: not really a you know, bomb at down the field
- 25:48Speaker 4: Andy Reid offense. So I would say, yeah, it has
- 25:52Speaker 4: a chance to be much more successful, I think than
- 25:56Speaker 4: people said because historically a guy like Bo Knicks, Derek Carr,
- 26:01Speaker 4: Jimmy Garoppolo goes somewhere thirty five to fifty five range. Well,
- 26:07Speaker 4: like society, inflation with quarterbacks is a real thing. And
- 26:12Speaker 4: I would say ever since the Josh Allen, the Patrick Mahomes,
- 26:16Speaker 4: those type got Herbert have hit. Herbert was a better
- 26:20Speaker 4: prospect coming out of college than the other two. But
- 26:23Speaker 4: teams swing for the fences, and if you want to
- 26:25Speaker 4: get these guys, you have to quote unquote overpay. It's
- 26:29Speaker 4: just the reality of life. And you know, they didn't
- 26:33Speaker 4: have a second round pick. You know, I think most
- 26:36Speaker 4: people around the NFL would say that's pretty high to
- 26:38Speaker 4: draft bo Nicks. But I think when you look at
- 26:40Speaker 4: what John Payton's looking for, I think when you factor in,
- 26:44Speaker 4: it's like, hey, I didn't love paying that much for
- 26:46Speaker 4: that house, but I needed a place to live. Like,
- 26:48Speaker 4: they don't have a quarterback, so they had to get
- 26:51Speaker 4: a quarterback. And I think they were lucky enough to know,
- 26:54Speaker 4: you know, Michael Pennix was definitely a curve ball, but
- 26:56Speaker 4: other than that, bow Knicks was going to be sitting
- 26:59Speaker 4: there for him, like he was now going to be
- 27:00Speaker 4: off the board when they picked, so they didn't have
- 27:02Speaker 4: to trade up. They got a quarterback their coach likes,
- 27:05Speaker 4: and like Pennix, like Caleb Williams, you know bo Nix
- 27:09Speaker 4: has been starting for twenty five years in college. You
- 27:11Speaker 4: just put, I don't know if he's going to be
- 27:13Speaker 4: good in the pros or not, but he's not some
- 27:16Speaker 4: project and you can just play him right away. And
- 27:19Speaker 4: I think the way we talk about Denver, and I'm
- 27:21Speaker 4: probably guilty of this too, we act like they won
- 27:24Speaker 4: two games. I mean, they were pretty much more competitive
- 27:28Speaker 4: down the stretch than we give them credit for. I
- 27:30Speaker 4: think either. I think they won seven, maybe eight games,
- 27:33Speaker 4: So it's not like they are some awful operation. And
- 27:38Speaker 4: they clearly were ready to transition out of the Russell
- 27:41Speaker 4: Wilson situation. The only way you can transition out of
- 27:43Speaker 4: that because they had to eat. I mean, it's well
- 27:46Speaker 4: documented now A ton of money by cutting him is
- 27:50Speaker 4: to get a guy on a rookie contract. It helps
- 27:52Speaker 4: make the transition pretty I guess, much easier, especially if
- 27:56Speaker 4: he turns out to be a solid starter. So I'm
- 27:58Speaker 4: actually pretty bullish on bo Nicks and Sean Payton. Not
- 28:03Speaker 4: like they're gonna make the playoffs next year, but I
- 28:06Speaker 4: wonder if it's gonna work. I actually think it's gonna
- 28:08Speaker 4: work a lot better than just your average person that
- 28:11Speaker 4: talks about sports is like, oh, that's a terrible draft pick.
- 28:15Speaker 2: Speaking of Sean Payton. And you know, Russ had a
- 28:17Speaker 2: pretty good year last year considering what he had come
- 28:20Speaker 2: from previously. How's he gonna do in Pittsburgh and what's
- 28:24Speaker 2: up with justin fields like his? Field's gonna be a
- 28:26Speaker 2: package player at all?
- 28:29Speaker 4: I think the hard part about once you move as
- 28:34Speaker 4: a player. And Cousins is a little like this too,
- 28:36Speaker 4: But he's they've invested so much money into you, you
- 28:39Speaker 4: know in pro sports, how much money I'm paying you
- 28:42Speaker 4: when you're not my drafted player kind of buys my loyalty.
- 28:47Speaker 4: He has no loyalty there, just on the simple fact
- 28:49Speaker 4: that they're giving him a million dollars a year. They
- 28:52Speaker 4: didn't have to pay him any money. So Russell Wilson
- 28:56Speaker 4: hasn't been good for a while now and at a
- 28:59Speaker 4: million dollar threshold for what he has to do to
- 29:03Speaker 4: make it worth you playing him. But Pittsburgh schedule is hard,
- 29:07Speaker 4: their divisions hard. The AFC is difficult if he's dinking
- 29:11Speaker 4: and dunking it. To me, his equity in that franchise
- 29:15Speaker 4: and with Mike Tomlin is very very small. In the
- 29:18Speaker 4: NFL is a place where the fan base has a
- 29:21Speaker 4: lot of juice because the owners watch the shows, and
- 29:24Speaker 4: they listen to the radio and the podcast, and they
- 29:27Speaker 4: know what's going on. And the Rooney family has watched
- 29:29Speaker 4: this long enough to know if you're not winning with
- 29:33Speaker 4: this guy early on, like you don't have you can't
- 29:37Speaker 4: start two and four and feel good about your playoff
- 29:39Speaker 4: chances that there's an extra team now with the expanded playoffs.
- 29:43Speaker 4: But still it's they got a little lucky last year,
- 29:45Speaker 4: you know, sneaking in at the end. Sure, I just
- 29:48Speaker 4: think people are going to be clamoring for just Hey,
- 29:51Speaker 4: I don't know if this guy's good or not, but
- 29:53Speaker 4: can we just see what Justin Fields has. Can we
- 29:56Speaker 4: put them with our offensive weapons and this new kind
- 29:59Speaker 4: of add two offensive line and see if we can
- 30:02Speaker 4: make him a good player? We just Arthur Smith, the
- 30:04Speaker 4: former Titans coach, is now their offensive or offensive coordinator,
- 30:09Speaker 4: is their new offensive coordinator. And while it didn't go
- 30:12Speaker 4: well for him in Atlanta, I mean you were there.
- 30:14Speaker 4: I mean it was what he did with Ryan Tannehill,
- 30:17Speaker 4: like he worked wonders. He deserved to get a shot
- 30:20Speaker 4: as a head coach. So I think if it starts slow,
- 30:24Speaker 4: for Russell Wilson, people are gonna want to see justin fields.
- 30:27Speaker 4: The other thing with the justin fields playing a different
- 30:30Speaker 4: position the new kickoff rule, because everyone is like five
- 30:35Speaker 4: yards apart. It's actually much more like an offensive play,
- 30:41Speaker 4: but even easier because if you bust a big run.
- 30:45Speaker 4: Let's say, if he's the quarterback and busts a forty
- 30:47Speaker 4: yard run, there are people at multiple levels. Right, you
- 30:50Speaker 4: have a defensive line, then you have linebackers behind them,
- 30:53Speaker 4: and then you have like safeties and dbs behind them.
- 30:55Speaker 4: This new kickoff rule, beside the kicker who's way back,
- 30:58Speaker 4: everyone is kind of at the same line, so you
- 31:02Speaker 4: don't need to make everyone miss. You might just have
- 31:06Speaker 4: to make a couple guys miss. So I think one
- 31:08Speaker 4: of their players, Jalen Warren, the running back, mentioned on
- 31:11Speaker 4: a podcast that you know, our special teams coach made
- 31:14Speaker 4: a joke about putting him back there, which would be
- 31:16Speaker 4: absurd in the normal kickoff because of injury and stuff.
- 31:20Speaker 4: But I don't know if you're gonna take these crazy shots,
- 31:24Speaker 4: and I wonder if actually he'd be pretty Taylor may
- 31:27Speaker 4: just like a lot of sweet offensive players, uh are
- 31:30Speaker 4: really fast, Like if you put Lamar Jackson back there.
- 31:33Speaker 4: You can't do it because of injury. You don't need
- 31:36Speaker 4: to make seven guys miss. You might just need to
- 31:38Speaker 4: hit a whole, break one tackle or juke one guy
- 31:42Speaker 4: and you're off to the races.
- 31:43Speaker 2: Have you watched much of the XFL or you know,
- 31:46Speaker 2: when they took the new kickoff rules that they're gonna
- 31:50Speaker 2: put in the NFL next year. Do they ever drop
- 31:52Speaker 2: back and have layers? Because you know, we just picture
- 31:54Speaker 2: like on side kick version, everybody rushes, But do they
- 31:57Speaker 2: do some of the guys drop back, like linebackers and
- 31:59Speaker 2: safeties just to make sure in case that first level's broken.
- 32:01Speaker 4: I've just seen a couple of clips online and it
- 32:04Speaker 4: was all basically guys going forward. I do think in
- 32:06Speaker 4: the NFL you are going to have to have two
- 32:09Speaker 4: or three guys immediately kind of go to the hash
- 32:12Speaker 4: marks or go outside to the numbers to be a
- 32:15Speaker 4: safety valve. And if you don't do that immediately and
- 32:19Speaker 4: someone breaks a big run, I think that will change quickly.
- 32:22Speaker 4: I've watched a lot of press conferences, you know, the
- 32:25Speaker 4: first couple of weeks of rookie mini camps, and you know,
- 32:29Speaker 4: the coordinators talk and I think they all say the
- 32:32Speaker 4: same thing. They're all just messing with this. They're all
- 32:34Speaker 4: just trying different things. And the hard part about football,
- 32:38Speaker 4: unlike all these other sports, is you can't really manipulate
- 32:42Speaker 4: it until pads come on, and in the spring, pads
- 32:45Speaker 4: don't come on. So I'm sure all these teams are
- 32:47Speaker 4: doing different walkthroughs and you know, kind of fifty percent setups,
- 32:52Speaker 4: But until even training camp, do you want to tackle
- 32:55Speaker 4: your own guys? I would say these preseason games, which
- 32:59Speaker 4: have never meant less because no one plays their starters.
- 33:03Speaker 4: The number one thing, beside like evaluating young players on
- 33:08Speaker 4: your own team, teams are going to be kind of
- 33:10Speaker 4: locking into is trying different things out with this kickoff rule.
- 33:13Speaker 4: For sure, it.
- 33:14Speaker 2: Feels a bit like stand up, Like I can't practice
- 33:16Speaker 2: a joke to myself. If I'm touring doing stand up,
- 33:19Speaker 2: I can't practice joke to myself. I can't practice a
- 33:21Speaker 2: joke to really one person. If I'm doing music, I
- 33:23Speaker 2: can practice playing guitar, I can do the muscle memory,
- 33:26Speaker 2: but I don't know if a joke works until I
- 33:28Speaker 2: get it out in front of actual people and feel
- 33:31Speaker 2: what happens when I NOTT. It feels a bit like
- 33:33Speaker 2: what this kickoff rule is going to be? Like, We're
- 33:35Speaker 2: really not gonna know until we have to really see
- 33:38Speaker 2: it happen live and in real time.
- 33:41Speaker 4: That's the thing with football. It's a lot like going
- 33:43Speaker 4: to the driving range. There's nothing like being on the
- 33:46Speaker 4: course and being like, Okay, this is not working. You
- 33:49Speaker 4: can practice it, you can rep it in preseason games,
- 33:52Speaker 4: but we all know the regular season feels dramatically different.
- 33:56Speaker 4: The level of talent on the field is dramatically different.
- 33:59Speaker 4: Sean Payton a couple of weeks ago, he thinks they
- 34:01Speaker 4: are going to be some crazy explosive place that he
- 34:04Speaker 4: thinks they're definitely going to be, you know, touchdowns and
- 34:06Speaker 4: plays that just weren't happening. I mean, part of the
- 34:08Speaker 4: reason they changed the rule is because you didn't need
- 34:11Speaker 4: to watch the kickoff anymore because teams, you know, I
- 34:15Speaker 4: think in the Super Bowl every kick went out of
- 34:17Speaker 4: bounce there there wasn't a return. I think it was
- 34:18Speaker 4: like twelve or twelve or thirteen for thirteen. And you know,
- 34:22Speaker 4: it's one thing years ago Belichick fought for with the
- 34:26Speaker 4: pat that like kicking snapping the ball from the two
- 34:30Speaker 4: yard line on a pat it was I mean close
- 34:33Speaker 4: to one hundred percent. When someone missed the old pat,
- 34:36Speaker 4: it was like, oh, Mike, what an awful kick. Now
- 34:40Speaker 4: it's still not you know, it's not fifty to fifty,
- 34:42Speaker 4: but it's closer to ninety percent, where there is just
- 34:45Speaker 4: a variable if your kickers, you know, kind of in
- 34:48Speaker 4: shambles or had missed some field goals. You're kind of
- 34:51Speaker 4: holding your breath after you score a touchdown, you know,
- 34:55Speaker 4: on the PAT. So I think the NFL, let's face it,
- 34:59Speaker 4: they had to change the rules because they got sued
- 35:01Speaker 4: for the CT and the concussion. So they've made the
- 35:04Speaker 4: violence of the game a lot different, which I grew up,
- 35:08Speaker 4: you know, in the nineties when it was a really
- 35:11Speaker 4: violent game, and there are aspects of that I definitely miss.
- 35:14Speaker 4: But they have tried to add some elements to make
- 35:17Speaker 4: the game a little more entertaining. And I do think
- 35:22Speaker 4: this is going to add a high level of entertainment.
- 35:26Speaker 4: And like you said, I don't think you can practice
- 35:30Speaker 4: it nearly well enough because of the rules in practice
- 35:36Speaker 4: to simulate what you're gonna see, not just in a
- 35:38Speaker 4: preseason game, but in again, let's say you're playing the
- 35:41Speaker 4: forty nine ers and they put Christian McCaffrey back there,
- 35:45Speaker 4: you know, or you're playing the Miami Dolphins and they
- 35:47Speaker 4: put Tyreek Hill back there. Right, it's not some practice
- 35:51Speaker 4: squad guy that you've been repping against in practice, So
- 35:55Speaker 4: it's very very It'd be like doing stand up comedy
- 35:58Speaker 4: and following like, hey, Dave Chappelle just played, Now is
- 36:01Speaker 4: up Bobby Bumps? Like good luck?
- 36:04Speaker 2: The Netflix is you're gonna have Christmas Day games? Do
- 36:07Speaker 2: we know the cruise are going to be? Like what
- 36:08Speaker 2: are they gonna do for that?
- 36:10Speaker 4: My guess is they are going to try to like
- 36:15Speaker 4: outsource it to one of the main networks because anyone,
- 36:21Speaker 4: you know, I guess the average fan might not know this,
- 36:23Speaker 4: but like when these teams or when these Fox or
- 36:26Speaker 4: CBS or NBC, it's ten trucks, So do they have
- 36:31Speaker 4: the infrastructure? Now? Financially, Netflix can easily purchase that. But
- 36:36Speaker 4: my gut would say it has not been announced, is
- 36:39Speaker 4: they would just outsource it to one of the major
- 36:42Speaker 4: networks and pay for their crews. But who knows. You know,
- 36:47Speaker 4: by by December, all the buys are done, so everyone's playing.
- 36:51Speaker 4: They might not have extra guys. I guess you could
- 36:53Speaker 4: use some college crews, but I'd be a little stunned.
- 36:57Speaker 4: Stunned would be strong. I guess I'd be a little
- 37:00Speaker 4: surprised if they're just two random guys that don't typically
- 37:04Speaker 4: do NFL games, Because part of this is, I don't
- 37:08Speaker 4: know where you stand on this, like this is the future,
- 37:11Speaker 4: Like this is not They're not just doing this to
- 37:14Speaker 4: try to get richer, even though they technically are because
- 37:16Speaker 4: Netflix is buying this. Think how much times have changed
- 37:20Speaker 4: in ten years with what we you know, consume watching,
- 37:24Speaker 4: the way we listen to stuff. You know, I just
- 37:27Speaker 4: went for a walk. I didn't bring my walkman, I
- 37:29Speaker 4: listened to a podcast, you know. So like it's no
- 37:33Speaker 4: different with streaming and Peacock with the NFL. Everyone pushes
- 37:37Speaker 4: back on that, like, guys, you know, the NBC as
- 37:40Speaker 4: we knew it in the nineties and the eighties and
- 37:43Speaker 4: the two thousand, like that's not going to exist as
- 37:46Speaker 4: currently constructed now. So the NFL is just looking forward
- 37:49Speaker 4: and guess what if this goes well, which I'm sure
- 37:52Speaker 4: it will on Netflix in five years, there might just
- 37:57Speaker 4: be oh, every Sunday at one o'clock, one of the
- 38:00Speaker 4: games is on Netflix, and the natural reaction on social
- 38:04Speaker 4: media will be like, this is crazy. I don't know
- 38:06Speaker 4: about you. When I get in bed, usually the first thing,
- 38:09Speaker 4: you know, especially if she has the remote she clicks on,
- 38:11Speaker 4: is Netflix, so it's not very difficult to access. And
- 38:16Speaker 4: I just think that this is not like where we're headed.
- 38:19Speaker 4: We're kind of already there. It's just within five years,
- 38:23Speaker 4: I think most of these games are going to be
- 38:25Speaker 4: on some sort of streaming platform.
- 38:27Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 38:27Speaker 2: I can't tell you the last time I watched either
- 38:28Speaker 2: linear television or listen to something that wasn't on demand,
- 38:32Speaker 2: like a podcast.
- 38:33Speaker 3: No.
- 38:33Speaker 2: I mean that's just if you're forty years below, I'm
- 38:40Speaker 2: assuming that's pretty much all you do. And so what
- 38:43Speaker 2: was your first year in radio seventeen? So we're looking
- 38:48Speaker 2: at like ninety seven.
- 38:51Speaker 4: And the power of that platform. There was nothing like it.
- 38:54Speaker 2: It was a monster and it was the only and
- 38:56Speaker 2: now it's like it's so split into Sure, there's the
- 39:01Speaker 2: live version, but if everything I do is not available
- 39:03Speaker 2: on demand all the time for everybody in nine different places,
- 39:06Speaker 2: then you know there's a massive part of my audience
- 39:08Speaker 2: that only lives there. I have people that only know
- 39:10Speaker 2: this show through watching it on TikTok videos. So the
- 39:14Speaker 2: medium whatever that is, is completely different, and yeah, it's
- 39:19Speaker 2: gonna happen to sports too.
- 39:20Speaker 4: Well, you know how I consume you is when you
- 39:24Speaker 4: have big country artists in studio. I don't know where
- 39:28Speaker 4: else to find it but YouTube. That's where I just
- 39:30Speaker 4: watched you had a Luke Combs interview I think last
- 39:32Speaker 4: week or I saw it on YouTube for the first
- 39:34Speaker 4: time last week, and I can assume you on YouTube.
- 39:38Speaker 4: Well YouTube's exist for a while, but let's face it,
- 39:41Speaker 4: the power of it, I would say, over the last
- 39:44Speaker 4: five years, has dramatically jumped. And I watch sports for
- 39:49Speaker 4: a living and I'm someone that cut the cord. Yeah,
- 39:52Speaker 4: me too, and I have YouTube TV, And obviously it's
- 39:56Speaker 4: a lot different than having whatever your local cable company is,
- 40:00Speaker 4: Cox or whatever, because you don't you know before you
- 40:04Speaker 4: would get on the guide, right, and at least I would,
- 40:07Speaker 4: and you would stumble upon movies and stuff like I
- 40:09Speaker 4: don't really stumble upon anything anymore. I know what I'm
- 40:13Speaker 4: looking for, and it has the algorithm of the things
- 40:16Speaker 4: I watch, whether it's ESPN or the main channels during
- 40:20Speaker 4: football season and the Food Network and CNBC, like it's
- 40:24Speaker 4: I basically just watched the same six or seven channels.
- 40:27Speaker 4: So the consumer changed with these companies changed, and it's
- 40:33Speaker 4: and you know, I mean, we're just not going back.
- 40:36Speaker 4: You have to look forward. In the NFL, I think
- 40:39Speaker 4: it's trying to strike that balance. But you know, forever
- 40:44Speaker 4: these owners, most of their wealth obviously has come from
- 40:49Speaker 4: the growth of the equity in their team, but the
- 40:53Speaker 4: money that they received, the large percentage of it is
- 40:55Speaker 4: from the TV networks. So Jerry Jones, the Marral family,
- 40:59Speaker 4: Rooney Family, like, a large percentage of their revenue and
- 41:02Speaker 4: cash flow comes from the loyalty of the money CBS, Box,
- 41:07Speaker 4: NBC and ABC has paid them well. Now, a lot
- 41:10Speaker 4: of those guys are super old, either in their late
- 41:13Speaker 4: seventies or their eighties or dying off, and their children,
- 41:17Speaker 4: like my parents were very, very loyal. If you were
- 41:20Speaker 4: doing like they had the same person landscaper for thirty
- 41:24Speaker 4: five years, and whether they did a bad job or
- 41:25Speaker 4: a good job, he was never going away. If someone
- 41:28Speaker 4: was gonna do if we were gonna redo tile in
- 41:31Speaker 4: a bathroom, it was gonna be the same family friend.
- 41:34Speaker 4: I'm just not the same. I'll just go I'll have
- 41:36Speaker 4: seven quotes I'll get the lowest price, and if it's
- 41:38Speaker 4: not working out, I'll change. And I think their children
- 41:41Speaker 4: represent that, and they are just realizing, like, let's face it,
- 41:45Speaker 4: Amazon and Netflix and if Apple TV wanted to get involved,
- 41:49Speaker 4: they just have way more money than these broadcast partners.
- 41:53Speaker 4: And these broadcast partners have a lot of money. I
- 41:54Speaker 4: mean they're paying billions of dollars every year. But if
- 41:57Speaker 4: Netflix wants to five x in a bit just to
- 42:00Speaker 4: be like, we'll just take the entire NFL, they can.
- 42:03Speaker 4: Like if them in Amazon were just like, hey, we'll
- 42:06Speaker 4: take it all. What's the NFL gonna say?
- 42:09Speaker 2: No?
- 42:09Speaker 3: Right?
- 42:10Speaker 2: Three final questions? Eddie gets your Cowboys question, and I'm
- 42:12Speaker 2: sure you have one.
- 42:13Speaker 1: Go ahead, Yeah, John, Let's talk about my Dallas Cowboys
- 42:16Speaker 1: and the running back situation. Obviously, I was shocked that
- 42:20Speaker 1: they didn't draft a running back, and then now I
- 42:22Speaker 1: realize why they didn't draft a running back because they
- 42:24Speaker 1: had old Zeko Elliott in mind to come back.
- 42:26Speaker 3: What's your whole thought on that, I would sit.
- 42:30Speaker 4: In general, when you need a running back, it is
- 42:34Speaker 4: the one position. Now if you draft a guy super
- 42:36Speaker 4: high like Zeke when he was young and in his prime,
- 42:39Speaker 4: or Saquan they're clearly big time players. But if you
- 42:44Speaker 4: don't have that guy, you usually can find them. They
- 42:47Speaker 4: are guys off the scrap heap. There are practice squad guys.
- 42:50Speaker 4: It is the one position I would put, like guard
- 42:53Speaker 4: and center, Like you can find sometimes a guard or
- 42:56Speaker 4: center that no one's ever heard of that was drafted
- 42:59Speaker 4: this seventh round, that's been on three practice squads and
- 43:02Speaker 4: then he starts for you for a couple of years,
- 43:04Speaker 4: so you can manipulate that position from a cheaper standpoint.
- 43:10Speaker 4: And this was not a good running back draft. And
- 43:12Speaker 4: he can't really force a need, like he can't just
- 43:14Speaker 4: take a running back to take a running back if
- 43:16Speaker 4: you don't really like the guy. Obviously not an ideal situation.
- 43:20Speaker 4: I think the tough part about the Cowboys is the Eagles,
- 43:23Speaker 4: who had one of the biggest implosions we've ever seen
- 43:25Speaker 4: last year. They lost, like felt like they lost like
- 43:27Speaker 4: twenty games in a road end of the season and
- 43:29Speaker 4: they just flamed out. Their roster is good and they've
- 43:33Speaker 4: added good players this offseason, and you just if you
- 43:36Speaker 4: just look at the two rosters, the Eagles are better.
- 43:38Speaker 2: I mean, the.
- 43:38Speaker 4: Cowboys technically won the division because the Eagles fell apart
- 43:41Speaker 4: so bad, but they were kind of neck and neck.
- 43:44Speaker 4: Maybe the Eagles for the last year and a half
- 43:46Speaker 4: before the last month of the season were a little better.
- 43:49Speaker 4: Now it feels like it's switched and the Eagles are
- 43:52Speaker 4: clearly better. And I also think the kind of elephant
- 43:56Speaker 4: in the room is, you know, Jerry didn't extend Mike McCarthy,
- 44:01Speaker 4: so he's on the last year of his contract, and
- 44:03Speaker 4: unlike college football, there's no recruiting, so technically it doesn't matter,
- 44:07Speaker 4: but that adds to the conversation. If they, you know,
- 44:10Speaker 4: are two and three or they're five and five and
- 44:13Speaker 4: kind of on the it's like, is what's going to
- 44:15Speaker 4: happen here? And the other eulephant in the room is
- 44:18Speaker 4: Dakota Prescott, who is probably one of the more polarizing
- 44:23Speaker 4: players in the league. He's well established, he's a good quarterback.
- 44:26Speaker 4: He's had three straight years playing pretty well. But there
- 44:29Speaker 4: is no debating and listen, I'm a Niner guy. I've
- 44:31Speaker 4: seen him two of the last three years play the
- 44:34Speaker 4: forty nine Ers in the playoffs, once at home and
- 44:36Speaker 4: once on the road, and he throws interceptions and last
- 44:40Speaker 4: year the defense in that playoff game was it looked
- 44:43Speaker 4: like US six were out there, but he was bad.
- 44:47Speaker 4: And I do wonder if you just if Jerry plans
- 44:50Speaker 4: on playing both of them out, which is fine, But
- 44:54Speaker 4: when you're the Dallas Cowboys, when you're the Lakers, you know,
- 44:57Speaker 4: when you're the Yankees, you know in your music, when
- 45:00Speaker 4: you're Morgan Walling, like, there are more eyeballs on you.
- 45:03Speaker 4: So when things get weird, it's it's gonna be the
- 45:06Speaker 4: biggest conversation if you win whatever. But I think we
- 45:10Speaker 4: all agree that, like, are we sure Dallas is gonna
- 45:13Speaker 4: be a twelve win team anymore? And if you're not
- 45:15Speaker 4: a twelve win team, you're more of a nine to
- 45:17Speaker 4: ten win team. There are a lot of points in
- 45:19Speaker 4: the season where it can kind of break you because
- 45:22Speaker 4: the difference of a nine to ten win team and
- 45:24Speaker 4: a seven to eight win team might be like an
- 45:26Speaker 4: interception and a fumble. Right that the margins in the
- 45:30Speaker 4: nf this is not college football. The margins are really small.
- 45:33Speaker 4: So I think the Cowboys are on a slippery slope.
- 45:36Speaker 4: Now they bring back Mike Zimmer, who you know, old
- 45:39Speaker 4: school cowboy guy from the nineties. Dion loved him. Dan
- 45:43Speaker 4: Quinn is like a happy, uplifting, positive backwards hat. Mike
- 45:50Speaker 4: Zimmer's the opposite. This guy is like a throwback sixties seventies.
- 45:54Speaker 4: He could have been like Bear Bryant, staff f wards
- 45:57Speaker 4: every other word, just angry all the time. That now
- 46:01Speaker 4: he's good, he's a good defensive coordinator. But the vibes
- 46:07Speaker 4: with him and Dan Quinn and let's face it, the
- 46:09Speaker 4: defense has been pretty good for removing the playoff game
- 46:14Speaker 4: for a while. That that that's something to keep an
- 46:17Speaker 4: eye on, because Mike Zimmer's not mister happy.
- 46:21Speaker 2: All right, Two final questions that answer, well, hey, you're
- 46:24Speaker 2: not mister happy. Who got the favor of the NFL
- 46:28Speaker 2: When the schedule came out you looked at and said, oh, dang,
- 46:30Speaker 2: that schedule, according to what we know now, does not
- 46:32Speaker 2: look to me that hard.
- 46:33Speaker 4: I think the hard part about schedules is think about
- 46:38Speaker 4: if you have the Jets on your schedule last year,
- 46:40Speaker 4: you're like, that's gonna be a tough game, and then
- 46:41Speaker 4: he tears his achilles whatever five plays into the season. Injuries.
- 46:46Speaker 4: How often you know if you had the Bengals last year, like, oh,
- 46:49Speaker 4: the Bengals have been one of the best teams in
- 46:50Speaker 4: the league and then all of a sudden you're playing
- 46:52Speaker 4: the backup quarterback. So injuries changed so much. I think
- 46:56Speaker 4: the one thing the NFL has done, and this goes
- 46:58Speaker 4: back to what we were talking about streaming, is because
- 47:01Speaker 4: Amazon is so important to them moving forward, is they
- 47:04Speaker 4: don't put crappy teams on Thursday night football anymore. So
- 47:09Speaker 4: a lot of teams, especially the bigger brands like the
- 47:11Speaker 4: forty nine Ers, I think the Rams last year, the Steelers.
- 47:14Speaker 4: A lot of these teams get multiple Thursday night games,
- 47:17Speaker 4: and if you have multiple Thursday night games, that's really hard.
- 47:22Speaker 4: So to me, that's one that just is not something
- 47:26Speaker 4: that used to happen because basically every team got a
- 47:28Speaker 4: Thursday night game, and Amazon was like, we don't want
- 47:32Speaker 4: to play Panthers Falcons, Can you give us Niners Rams.
- 47:36Speaker 4: It's like, well, they've already both had a Thursday night game, Like, yeah,
- 47:39Speaker 4: we don't care. Can we get Packers, Cowboys? Can we
- 47:42Speaker 4: get whatever. I'm not saying that's a Thursday night game,
- 47:44Speaker 4: but that's an element that exists now. It happened last
- 47:48Speaker 4: year for the first time, and it's clearly something moving forward.
- 47:51Speaker 4: The other thing is for example, the Jets, I think
- 47:54Speaker 4: their schedule is pretty manage a manageable early. But to
- 47:59Speaker 4: open up up on the West coast on Monday night football, well,
- 48:03Speaker 4: if the game ends in San Francisco at like eight thirty,
- 48:07Speaker 4: by the time you shower, eat, get on the bus,
- 48:11Speaker 4: get back to the plane, you're not even leaving there
- 48:14Speaker 4: till probably closer to eleven thirty midnight, and then you
- 48:18Speaker 4: fly home. There's a three hour time difference. I mean,
- 48:21Speaker 4: the Jets are gonna get in probably when the sun
- 48:23Speaker 4: is coming up on the East coast, and then they
- 48:25Speaker 4: play again on Sunday. That's just a very very hard travel.
- 48:29Speaker 4: You know, it's much easier to do Monday night football
- 48:32Speaker 4: east back to West because you gain the hours. It's
- 48:35Speaker 4: way harder to do it on the flip side. So
- 48:38Speaker 4: that's that's tough first game for the old Aaron Rodgers
- 48:41Speaker 4: led Jets.
- 48:42Speaker 2: All right, Final question, Joe Burrow, if he gets heard
- 48:44Speaker 2: of geting this year, do they have to look for
- 48:45Speaker 2: another quarterback?
- 48:46Speaker 4: Have you seen there was a story out a couple
- 48:48Speaker 4: weeks ago that like the average surgery like on an
- 48:52Speaker 4: acl orn achilles or shoulder surgery, you know, is ninety
- 48:57Speaker 4: to ninety five percent success rate. That's like the going
- 49:00Speaker 4: rate in the medical community. I'm not a doctor, but
- 49:04Speaker 4: read it on Twitter that on this surgery with like
- 49:07Speaker 4: the hand wrist, it's actually much lower. It's like seventy
- 49:11Speaker 4: to seventy five percent, and there's like guaranteed inflation that
- 49:17Speaker 4: comes with it with your muscles and your wrist area.
- 49:20Speaker 4: So it's just now. I know, he kind of went
- 49:23Speaker 4: viral that he was throwing and felt good, but the
- 49:26Speaker 4: doctor said that it's gonna they're gonna have to be
- 49:28Speaker 4: careful with it. It's just something to keep an eye on.
- 49:31Speaker 4: I don't know where you stand. To me, he's one
- 49:34Speaker 4: of my favorite players since that year at LSU because
- 49:37Speaker 4: when he's on, he's as good as any and obviously
- 49:40Speaker 4: their receivers are sweet, and he's just a fun player
- 49:42Speaker 4: to watch. But that's pretty concerning, Like if, in a
- 49:46Speaker 4: weird way, you would rather pour your acl again than
- 49:49Speaker 4: have this kind of It's just not a normal injury,
- 49:53Speaker 4: I mean, when that ever happens. So reading that kind
- 49:56Speaker 4: of scares me a little bit. But I don't know.
- 50:00Speaker 4: I mean, they're so all their chips are in the
- 50:03Speaker 4: middle of the table because of the amount of money
- 50:05Speaker 4: they gave them and rightfully, so why would you not
- 50:07Speaker 4: have given him that money? And then he has this injury.
- 50:11Speaker 4: I would say it's pretty scary if you're a Bengal fan,
- 50:14Speaker 4: Like every time you're kind of holding your breath. It's
- 50:17Speaker 4: no different with Anthony Richardson who had a shoulder injury.
- 50:21Speaker 4: I think, similar to the one Cam had years ago,
- 50:24Speaker 4: that every time he plays until you prove that, like
- 50:28Speaker 4: you just when you get when you're laying on the
- 50:30Speaker 4: ground or when you get tackled that you're going to
- 50:32Speaker 4: get up, everyone's going to be holding their breath. And
- 50:36Speaker 4: that's the you know. The one crappy part about the
- 50:39Speaker 4: NFL is injuries just happen a lot more in these
- 50:44Speaker 4: other sports because of the violent nature. And it does feel,
- 50:47Speaker 4: I know that everyone acts like the quarterbacks are off
- 50:50Speaker 4: limits and they can't get touched. And relative to what
- 50:53Speaker 4: the league used to be one, I mean, you see
- 50:56Speaker 4: some of these like eighties or nineties mashups of seal
- 51:00Speaker 4: on the quarterback, You're like, how did Steve Young not
- 51:02Speaker 4: die right there? These quarterbacks still get injured a lot.
- 51:05Speaker 4: I think last year the number of quarterbacks that played
- 51:08Speaker 4: was close to seventy, so some I mean some of
- 51:11Speaker 4: these teams are and maybe some of this is like fighting,
- 51:16Speaker 4: like UFC or boxing. Part of getting ready for a
- 51:20Speaker 4: fight is building up the calluses getting hit, getting used
- 51:23Speaker 4: to it, and now no one's ever touched, and then
- 51:26Speaker 4: all of a sudden you go to a game where
- 51:29Speaker 4: you see these times coming out of the combine. Guys
- 51:32Speaker 4: aren't as big as they were. You know, Levon Kirklin
- 51:36Speaker 4: type players don't exist in football anymore. They're smaller and faster,
- 51:40Speaker 4: So yeah, they might not be as big. But the
- 51:44Speaker 4: speed in which all these guys run, I mean, all
- 51:46Speaker 4: these defensive linemen over the last three or four years,
- 51:48Speaker 4: some of them are running like four eight forties.
- 51:51Speaker 3: You're like, how do.
- 51:52Speaker 4: These human beings move this quickly? So it's just something
- 51:55Speaker 4: concerning in general with these quarterbacks because they're just not
- 51:58Speaker 4: used to getting hurt. It's it's honestly one of Lamar
- 52:01Speaker 4: Jackson's best attributes for being a running quarterback. He's great
- 52:05Speaker 4: at just like hitting the ground or running out of bounds.
- 52:08Speaker 4: It's it's a skill that I don't think he gets
- 52:10Speaker 4: enough credit for because he kind of scrambles around a lot.
- 52:13Speaker 4: But for the most part, he avoids massive, massive hits.
- 52:16Speaker 4: And you know it's not all Burrow's fault, but Burrow
- 52:20Speaker 4: has just taken a lot of big shots in a
- 52:21Speaker 4: short NFL career.
- 52:23Speaker 2: John Middlecoff, you guys can follow him on Instagram at

- 52:54Speaker 2: Thanks to John Middlecoff.
- 52:56Speaker 3: I do want it to know as a forty nine
- 52:57Speaker 3: Ers fan, well he.
- 52:58Speaker 2: Lived, grew up out there.
- 53:00Speaker 3: When I've asked my Cowboys question.
- 53:02Speaker 2: Well you are a big Joe Montana fan.
- 53:04Speaker 3: Yeah, well I was as a kid.
- 53:06Speaker 1: I love Joe Montana of course, and then he retired
- 53:09Speaker 1: and then your favorite all time.
- 53:10Speaker 3: Player ooh, all time.
- 53:16Speaker 2: Don't not say it, man Smith.
- 53:19Speaker 3: It's it's hard to say that because, like, I don't
- 53:20Speaker 3: know my childhood. Joe Montana was Yeah.
- 53:22Speaker 2: Read, That's what I'm trying to get is Joe Montana
- 53:25Speaker 2: is his favorite player, but he acts like he hates
- 53:27Speaker 2: the forty nine I do have.
- 53:28Speaker 1: But but Joe Montana is not a forty nine er.
- 53:30Speaker 1: He's just a great quarterback.
- 53:31Speaker 2: What okay, sorry, you know what I mean? He's a
- 53:33Speaker 2: chief to Eddie. Yeah, I was like, yeah, the can't
- 53:37Speaker 2: city chief. I love him, the legendary dude, the legendary chief.
- 53:42Speaker 3: That's right, number nineteen.
- 53:44Speaker 2: So we have somebody new that started with us today.
- 53:47Speaker 2: Uh can did you meet everybody here? Do you meet
- 53:49Speaker 2: all those guys? Pull up? Hi?
- 53:51Speaker 3: Katie?
- 53:51Speaker 6: Hi Katie.
- 53:52Speaker 2: So Katie and I met when I went to talk
- 53:56Speaker 2: at the University of Arkansas. She was in your class
- 53:59Speaker 2: and the and then like the adult class. There were
- 54:01Speaker 2: like classes of freshman year, I mean an adult class. Well,
- 54:03Speaker 2: she was like in the older class, like people that
- 54:06Speaker 2: were about to graduate.
- 54:07Speaker 1: Guts, you're not like an adult topic class? No, okay
- 54:10Speaker 1: class where you teach?
- 54:11Speaker 2: No, No, there were like freshman classes. I just didn't care.
- 54:15Speaker 2: But so I met her there and I told everybody.
- 54:17Speaker 2: I was like, hey, here's my email address. Just email
- 54:18Speaker 2: me whatever you need. And so she emailed me. It
- 54:20Speaker 2: was like can I intern? It? Tell me if my
- 54:22Speaker 2: story is wrong? Can I intern? And I was like, well,
- 54:24Speaker 2: we can't take interns, but you can just come here
- 54:27Speaker 2: for three months and I'll just pay you and you
- 54:29Speaker 2: can just work with us. That way, it's a real job.
- 54:32Speaker 2: It's like a freelance job. And so but she's not
- 54:35Speaker 2: done with school. So you just graduated.
- 54:37Speaker 7: Yeah, I just graduated with my Bachelors of Journalism and
- 54:40Speaker 7: I've technically done with one year of grad school already
- 54:42Speaker 7: because i looped it with my senior year, so I've
- 54:44Speaker 7: got one year left and then i'll beat down with
- 54:46Speaker 7: my master's in May of twive.
- 54:48Speaker 2: So what's the goal?
- 54:50Speaker 8: The goal kind of just a wide range of things.
- 54:53Speaker 7: That class that you came and spoke to actually opened
- 54:55Speaker 7: me up to a lot of different.
- 54:56Speaker 8: Media jobs that they're out there.
- 54:58Speaker 7: Originally I was thinking sideline broad casting, sideline reporting and
- 55:01Speaker 7: that kind of thing, which I'm still interested in that,
- 55:03Speaker 7: but honestly, just kind of anything in the multi media space,
- 55:06Speaker 7: storytelling of all different types.
- 55:08Speaker 2: So that's multi media, not like you idiots, you gotta
- 55:12Speaker 2: do monomedia.
- 55:13Speaker 6: What is multi media?
- 55:17Speaker 2: Mono media? She came to the wrong place, so I
- 55:21Speaker 2: met her. I was like, hey, why don't you come?
- 55:22Speaker 2: You can work, just it's a job three months before
- 55:26Speaker 2: you go back to school. So she's going to be
- 55:28Speaker 2: here just doing all kinds basically what we all do,
- 55:31Speaker 2: all kinds of crap.
- 55:32Speaker 1: So Katie, you like, just packed your bags and I'm
- 55:35Speaker 1: moving to Nashville pretty much.
- 55:36Speaker 3: Do you know anyone here?
- 55:38Speaker 7: I have one friend that I went to school with
- 55:40Speaker 7: that lives here and she moved back after she graduated,
- 55:42Speaker 7: and so she's here. Other than that, just got one
- 55:45Speaker 7: friend who just moved to town for work. But yeah,
- 55:47Speaker 7: I have never been to Nashville before. And whenever we
- 55:50Speaker 7: were on that Zoom call, it was a Wednesday, and Bobby.
- 55:53Speaker 8: Was saying, can you be here on Monday?
- 55:55Speaker 3: And so Bobby, well, I was.
- 55:57Speaker 2: Like, if you want to work? And school was ending?
- 55:59Speaker 8: Yeah, school was ending.
- 56:00Speaker 2: Second, you only got a short window, so can you
- 56:01Speaker 2: be If you can be here, I can start paying you.
- 56:03Speaker 2: That's kind of what it wasn't like be here?
- 56:05Speaker 8: Yeah, yeah, I just know.
- 56:07Speaker 3: Bobby is very like we don't have a lot of
- 56:09Speaker 3: time away, so we're gonna do it.
- 56:10Speaker 2: Let's go.
- 56:10Speaker 7: I was excited whenever he said that, because I was
- 56:12Speaker 7: eager to start as soon as possible. But so packed
- 56:15Speaker 7: my bags and I was on the road Tuesday morning
- 56:17Speaker 7: by eight am.
- 56:18Speaker 8: Never been to Nashville before, and here I am.
- 56:20Speaker 2: So, So, what do you do journalism wise at University
- 56:25Speaker 2: of Arkansas?
- 56:26Speaker 7: Yeah, so back there, I'm the sports director for our
- 56:28Speaker 7: campus news station. It's called UA TV, and with that,
- 56:32Speaker 7: I have a staff of about eight anchors that.
- 56:34Speaker 8: Go on every week.
- 56:36Speaker 7: They go on Monday through Thursday, and then we also
- 56:38Speaker 7: have a sports specialty show called The Sports Advantage, which
- 56:41Speaker 7: that's my favorite thing that we do.
- 56:42Speaker 8: We do a whole lot of different content there. We do.
- 56:46Speaker 7: I just kind of tell people it's just a mixing
- 56:48Speaker 7: bowl of all different things. We've got a girl who
- 56:49Speaker 7: covers rodeo. We've got some guys who do NFL stuff regularly.
- 56:52Speaker 7: We've got hockey, you've got f one racing, and there's
- 56:55Speaker 7: lots of roundtables and just kind of anything people want
- 56:57Speaker 7: to talk about, whether it's a solo segment or a
- 57:00Speaker 7: combo roundtable thing.
- 57:01Speaker 8: We just get creative with it, and that's my favorite part.
- 57:03Speaker 2: Did you play sports going out?
- 57:05Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 57:06Speaker 7: So I always joked that the only recognition I ever
- 57:08Speaker 7: got from my athletic ability was for academics. You know,
- 57:10Speaker 7: you get those all academic.
- 57:12Speaker 2: So like Walter Payton, Yeah.
- 57:17Speaker 8: Go ahead, pretty much. Yeah.
- 57:18Speaker 7: So I played basketball and volleyball all the way up
- 57:20Speaker 7: into high school and then a little bit of track,
- 57:23Speaker 7: which I always laugh at that story because I think
- 57:27Speaker 7: they the coaches kind of got a kick out of
- 57:29Speaker 7: me just being a track athlete in general, because I'm
- 57:31Speaker 7: definitely not made.
- 57:32Speaker 8: For that, and they didn't have a spot for me
- 57:34Speaker 8: in track.
- 57:35Speaker 7: And one day they sent me over to shot put,
- 57:37Speaker 7: and I mean, I don't have the physique for shotput,
- 57:39Speaker 7: but I was out there with the O line and
- 57:41Speaker 7: throwing that as hard as I could, and just let's
- 57:45Speaker 7: just say I didn't get any recognition for that.
- 57:48Speaker 3: Pretty tall though, Yeah, I'm five to eleven, I'm six.
- 57:52Speaker 2: Ft And what is your favorite sport to watch?
- 57:59Speaker 3: Or cup?
- 58:00Speaker 8: Or basketball? For sure? If I could pick a specific area.
- 58:04Speaker 7: Of basketball, it'd be the eighties to nineties basketball era.
- 58:06Speaker 7: But you know, we can't get back to that right
- 58:08Speaker 7: now with.
- 58:09Speaker 2: All the fouling and fifty. That's the end of the game.
- 58:14Speaker 2: Sean Kemp had six points and let all scores.
- 58:16Speaker 8: It was grittier, it was grittier. I liked it. I
- 58:19Speaker 8: liked the hustle back then, do you play two k No?
- 58:22Speaker 8: I don't. I don't play any video games. Actually so smart.
- 58:25Speaker 2: So what about now do you watch?
- 58:29Speaker 3: Like?
- 58:29Speaker 7: What?
- 58:29Speaker 2: What's your favorite thing to focus on? Sports wise? Now?
- 58:32Speaker 8: College basketball? I'm a big college basketball fan.
- 58:34Speaker 7: And then, like you guys were talking about earlier women's basketball,
- 58:37Speaker 7: you know, gotten more into that watching Angel Reese and
- 58:40Speaker 7: Caitlyn Clark.
- 58:41Speaker 8: And all them kind of create a new narrative for it.
- 58:43Speaker 2: So I've been don't get me started.
- 58:45Speaker 8: I won't.
- 58:46Speaker 3: Yeah, she was here, as you heard, Hey, I.
- 58:50Speaker 8: Agree with you, she was here.
- 58:51Speaker 2: Listen, there are a lot of great people. There may
- 58:53Speaker 2: be better players, but don't take the person who's actually
- 58:56Speaker 2: changing the league and getting people to watch and try
- 58:58Speaker 2: to minimize her because it make because your ego hurts anyway.
- 59:03Speaker 7: That's actually something that me and my friends were talking
- 59:04Speaker 7: about with Kaitlyn Clark specifically, is that the media will
- 59:07Speaker 7: build someone up just so that they can tear them
- 59:09Speaker 7: down again and.
- 59:10Speaker 2: We saw all the time.
- 59:12Speaker 3: Yeah, sometimes we saw that a.
- 59:13Speaker 7: Lot with Kaitlyn Clark, especially in her college gameplay. I mean,
- 59:16Speaker 7: because it was she was getting a lot of attention,
- 59:18Speaker 7: and then it was oh, she's dramatic out there on
- 59:20Speaker 7: the court, Oh she's got a bad attitude, or oh
- 59:22Speaker 7: she thinks she deserves every foul call. And it was like, well,
- 59:24Speaker 7: I mean, you guys, she was playing like that before
- 59:26Speaker 7: you started giving our attention.
- 59:27Speaker 2: So game three, when I was watching her play the Liberty,
- 59:30Speaker 2: she was dropping a bunch more f bombs. Could tell
- 59:31Speaker 2: she was getting more comfortable. Yeah, like being a leader
- 59:33Speaker 2: on the floor girl. Yeah, well no different dropping. Did
- 59:36Speaker 2: you have you watched any of her games? Not in
- 59:38Speaker 2: the w you're not a fan like me a w BA.
- 59:41Speaker 4: I watched.
- 59:41Speaker 2: I watched all three of the games. All of them.
- 59:43Speaker 4: Like she would throw.
- 59:46Speaker 2: Like bounce passes through people as someone was cutting and
- 59:48Speaker 2: it would hit them in the knee and they'd miss it.
- 59:50Speaker 2: She'd be like f half look, not yelling at them,
- 59:53Speaker 2: but just like frustration that nothing was working. And I
- 59:55Speaker 2: was like, oh, you can tell she's starting to feel
- 59:57Speaker 2: it now, like she's she's starting to kind of understand
- 59:59Speaker 2: her role which is it's probably hard to go in
- 1:00:02Speaker 2: as you're a college junior last year on the worst team,
- 1:00:07Speaker 2: and I think the year before the fever. So I've
- 1:00:10Speaker 2: heard also had a high maybe the number one and
- 1:00:13Speaker 2: number two. No, maybe the number two pick. They took
- 1:00:14Speaker 2: the girl from South Carolina. But she has to be
- 1:00:19Speaker 2: the leader on this team now, and it's gonna be
- 1:00:20Speaker 2: a weird spot to be young two three games in
- 1:00:24Speaker 2: have all this pressure and be like, screw it. It's
- 1:00:26Speaker 2: not for me to just do what I do. And
- 1:00:27Speaker 2: you can see her start to do that now. So
- 1:00:31Speaker 2: I'm not even a fan that much.
- 1:00:32Speaker 3: It sounds like you are.
- 1:00:34Speaker 2: No, I'm I'm not a fan of how unfairly one
- 1:00:38Speaker 2: that she's being traded in. Two I'd like to see
- 1:00:41Speaker 2: the league actually do well. But it's like they're they're
- 1:00:44Speaker 2: cutting off the nose despite the face whatever.
- 1:00:46Speaker 3: My grandma used to say, Yeah, it sounds that kind
- 1:00:48Speaker 3: of sounds right.
- 1:00:48Speaker 2: Yeah, something like that. Well, we're glad you're here.
- 1:00:51Speaker 8: Yeah, I'm glad to be here.
- 1:00:52Speaker 2: There is there is no we don't there's really no
- 1:00:56Speaker 2: process to well, there's just a lot of stuff. What
- 1:00:59Speaker 2: we do, Yeah, yeah we do. But I'm gonna have
- 1:01:01Speaker 2: her working on a lot of stuff. Okay, cool, anything
- 1:01:04Speaker 2: before we go? Read how you been, buddy?
- 1:01:06Speaker 6: I've been great?
- 1:01:07Speaker 7: Man.
- 1:01:07Speaker 4: Did you bet on any of the w NBA games? Yeah?
- 1:01:10Speaker 2: And I hit Caitlin Clark covering and he's Game three?
- 1:01:12Speaker 3: Are you betting on that? Read?
- 1:01:14Speaker 4: No, dude, I'm retarding.
- 1:01:15Speaker 3: That's right, that's right.
- 1:01:16Speaker 2: I did try to log in yesterday and it still
- 1:01:18Speaker 2: said it was blocked. So you blocked yourself?
- 1:01:20Speaker 3: Why would you know?
- 1:01:23Speaker 6: I was just making straight?
- 1:01:24Speaker 3: We are you trying to relapse?
- 1:01:25Speaker 2: Was that that was called You're trying to fall off
- 1:01:28Speaker 2: the wagon, but no, get back on it? Well, falling
- 1:01:31Speaker 2: off the wagon would mean.
- 1:01:33Speaker 1: That means you you're you're drinking again, But that means
- 1:01:35Speaker 1: he's trying to fall off the wagon, right, Oh yeah, yeah, okay,
- 1:01:38Speaker 1: so you're on the wagon and you're trying to jump off,
- 1:01:40Speaker 1: but he's trying to.
- 1:01:41Speaker 3: Yeah, but I didn't let him.
- 1:01:42Speaker 2: For those that don't know, Reid was winning exactly a lot,
- 1:01:47Speaker 2: was gambling on DraftKings responsibly, and he was winning like
- 1:01:53Speaker 2: stupid amount. So he calls the eight hundred number to say,
- 1:01:56Speaker 2: please cut me off because I'm afraid of what I
- 1:01:58Speaker 2: can do it's very responsible, thank you. But the fact
- 1:02:01Speaker 2: that you're like just like putting your toes in the
- 1:02:03Speaker 2: water going, I wonder if I give back, I know,
- 1:02:05Speaker 2: but I'm like, you should be blocked off then, I know,
- 1:02:08Speaker 2: because I'm not going to contact them to open it again.
- 1:02:10Speaker 2: I was just gonna be like, I'm just gonna test
- 1:02:12Speaker 2: this out see if they actually did block it. I
- 1:02:14Speaker 2: was gonna ask you guys, if you if you don't mind,
- 1:02:17Speaker 2: I was gonna ask, do you have any tickets eddie anything?
- 1:02:24Speaker 4: Oh?
- 1:02:24Speaker 1: Man, just I'm just glad that basketball is over for
- 1:02:27Speaker 1: a little bit of youth basketball because my kids are
- 1:02:29Speaker 1: all done. However, we did do tryouts last night for
- 1:02:32Speaker 1: another team, and tryouts is tough, man Like. There must
- 1:02:36Speaker 1: have been fifty kids there and I bet they were probably.
- 1:02:40Speaker 2: What the about something? My gay dude, this is what
- 1:02:43Speaker 2: you do.
- 1:02:43Speaker 3: When I'm telling a story. No, you're not allowed to get.
- 1:02:50Speaker 2: Out go ahead, bad back.
- 1:02:52Speaker 1: No. I just you know, my kids are like nine
- 1:02:54Speaker 1: and ten, and it's cool. I like taking them through
- 1:02:56Speaker 1: these tryouts just to kind of get the tryout.
- 1:03:00Speaker 3: But it's brutal, man like.
- 1:03:02Speaker 1: Sometimes these teams, like the team last night, they're only
- 1:03:04Speaker 1: gonna do two teams of ten, so that's twenty kids
- 1:03:07Speaker 1: that they're gonna accept. There's fifty kids there, and there's
- 1:03:10Speaker 1: already a group of kids that have already been on
- 1:03:12Speaker 1: the team. So when you go to a tryout, there's
- 1:03:14Speaker 1: probably only two slots for thirty kids. Yeah, and it's
- 1:03:18Speaker 1: just tough because like they're really putting a lot of
- 1:03:21Speaker 1: pressure on themselves, like, oh am I gonna make the team,
- 1:03:23Speaker 1: but probably not. There's two slots and there's fifty kids,
- 1:03:25Speaker 1: You're probably not gonna make the team.
- 1:03:27Speaker 2: And also it's probably a bit like when I I
- 1:03:29Speaker 2: did American Outo for four years, we weren't always looking
- 1:03:31Speaker 2: for the best singers, or sometimes we're looking for types
- 1:03:33Speaker 2: of singers to fill the gaps. Yeah, so I'm not
- 1:03:35Speaker 2: even saying types of players in that way. But maybe
- 1:03:37Speaker 2: they need big guys or they have too many big
- 1:03:40Speaker 2: guys and they need guards. But your kid's a big guy.
- 1:03:42Speaker 2: You know, those are factors too.
- 1:03:44Speaker 1: What's funny too, is that so many kids go into
- 1:03:46Speaker 1: these tryouts and they're like, I'm gonna show them everything
- 1:03:48Speaker 1: I got.
- 1:03:48Speaker 3: They do three on three drills.
- 1:03:50Speaker 1: And so there's the kid that will never pass the ball.
- 1:03:53Speaker 1: He's holding the ball between his legs around the back,
- 1:03:55Speaker 1: little Euro step. But the coaches are like, pass the ball.
- 1:03:58Speaker 1: I want to see how you play with other kids.
- 1:04:01Speaker 1: I can see how you handle with your drills.
- 1:04:03Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:04:04Speaker 1: Like and it's funny because all these kids like, I'm
- 1:04:05Speaker 1: not going to pass the ball at all, And I
- 1:04:07Speaker 1: don't know. I just learned a lot from this. This
- 1:04:09Speaker 1: whole tryout experience pretty weird.
- 1:04:11Speaker 2: I never saw you what do you mean, well him,
- 1:04:13Speaker 2: I ever saw you on the weekends. Is when I
- 1:04:14Speaker 2: went out to watch you kids play.
- 1:04:15Speaker 1: You were Oh, dude, I've been in basketball like for
- 1:04:19Speaker 1: every weekend and even you're straight on Saturday, I woke
- 1:04:23Speaker 1: up at seven thirty to make an eight uh an
- 1:04:25Speaker 1: eight thirty game across town, and I didn't get home
- 1:04:28Speaker 1: till like seven thirty at night.
- 1:04:31Speaker 3: It's just like that. It's every weekend is like that.
- 1:04:33Speaker 3: It's crazy.
- 1:04:34Speaker 1: But I talked to other parents who are like, hey,
- 1:04:36Speaker 1: I did a travel team and we drove to like Chicago. Yeah,
- 1:04:40Speaker 1: and we got eliminated the first week, the first game,
- 1:04:42Speaker 1: the first two games, and we're like, all right, I'm
- 1:04:44Speaker 1: just head back.
- 1:04:45Speaker 3: That suck, like, so I'm like, I'm glad I'm not
- 1:04:47Speaker 3: doing that, uh.
- 1:04:49Speaker 2: Kevin, Yeah, that's rough.
- 1:04:51Speaker 6: Celtics Pacers. I'm excited, but I think.
- 1:04:54Speaker 2: The pitchers have a shot. Man.
- 1:04:55Speaker 3: I think so too.
- 1:04:56Speaker 2: Talk about a team that passes and plays well. Yeah,
- 1:04:59Speaker 2: like Miles Charged scored the least amount of points and
- 1:05:01Speaker 2: they still had seventeen.
- 1:05:03Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, that's how they play. They look good. And
- 1:05:06Speaker 5: Halliburton's playing really well again. And Celtics.
- 1:05:09Speaker 2: He looked lost for a while, didn't he.
- 1:05:10Speaker 5: Yeah, he was going through rough stretch the last half
- 1:05:12Speaker 5: of the season beginning of the playoffs.
- 1:05:14Speaker 6: But the Celtics are just so up and down. I
- 1:05:16Speaker 6: just don't know what to think.
- 1:05:18Speaker 2: Supports it's gonna play.
- 1:05:20Speaker 5: He's out in the first two games for sure, and
- 1:05:22Speaker 5: game three is still up in the air. They said
- 1:05:25Speaker 5: two first games, he's out. I know, everyone you know
- 1:05:28Speaker 5: gets on them because they don't blow all these teams out.
- 1:05:30Speaker 5: But at the end of the day, they've only.
- 1:05:31Speaker 6: Lost two games so far, which is pretty good. I
- 1:05:33Speaker 6: know they haven't really played the best teams, but I'm
- 1:05:35Speaker 6: just saying.
- 1:05:36Speaker 2: Yeah, they played us. I'm just saying, so we've played,
- 1:05:39Speaker 2: we played for the fever, we almost went the next
- 1:05:41Speaker 2: and we're basically every team that Boston's played. Yeah, but
- 1:05:44Speaker 2: I am nervous. Yeah, we're supposed to supposedly supposed to
- 1:05:48Speaker 2: go to U Saint Louis on Thursday afternoon. Go. Yeah,
- 1:05:53Speaker 2: so we're gonna go and spend some time with Jim
- 1:05:56Speaker 2: Edmonds on Thursday afternoon, and then Friday go to the
- 1:06:01Speaker 2: Cardinals and uh talk with their manager. And what's funny
- 1:06:07Speaker 2: is I have a Paul gol shmant helmet here on
- 1:06:08Speaker 2: my desk, and that's who we're gonna right supposed to
- 1:06:10Speaker 2: be working with a little bit talking with. What I'm
- 1:06:13Speaker 2: nervous about is I tore my rotator cuff. Look to
- 1:06:16Speaker 2: two minor tears. We're not concerned me telling my wife,
- 1:06:21Speaker 2: I'm like, there's those of all. That's why I never
- 1:06:23Speaker 2: like played it up. I never wanted to play it up.
- 1:06:26Speaker 2: So it'd be like, well, you probably shouldn't go to
- 1:06:27Speaker 2: Saint Louis. Actually maybe have one big rip. I just
- 1:06:30Speaker 2: didn't say anything because I so I got too easy,
- 1:06:33Speaker 2: had some rotator cuff injuries. I think I've developed some
- 1:06:36Speaker 2: tendonitis in there though now, which is normal, but it
- 1:06:38Speaker 2: sucks and it hurts. But I don't know if I
- 1:06:40Speaker 2: can throw, meaning I haven't thrown a single ball since
- 1:06:42Speaker 2: I've since you know. I think I tore it at
- 1:06:46Speaker 2: Florida State. I heard it works at Oklahoma State Softball
- 1:06:48Speaker 2: and then Arkansas it was just dead. But I haven't.
- 1:06:51Speaker 2: I haven't thrown it all.
- 1:06:52Speaker 3: Should I bring the glove over?
- 1:06:54Speaker 2: I think you should come over a little bit early. Yeah,
- 1:06:56Speaker 2: if you can, and we should throw a little bit.
- 1:06:59Speaker 2: You have a baseball though, I do. I got plenty
- 1:07:01Speaker 2: of baseball baseball. I bought two gloves. I got left gloves. Yeah, no,
- 1:07:07Speaker 2: two lefty gloves and used gonna break one. Plan have
- 1:07:12Speaker 2: to break it in smart. So we're supposed to go
- 1:07:14Speaker 2: to Saint Louis and do that. I'm very much looking
- 1:07:15Speaker 2: forward to that. Here's my problem. It's not a problem
- 1:07:17Speaker 2: because I'm not gonna let it be a problem. I'm
- 1:07:20Speaker 2: I'm been a lifelong Cubs fan and they're playing the Cubs.
- 1:07:22Speaker 2: Oh no, but i am. I'm a guest of the Cardinals.
- 1:07:30Speaker 2: That that's it the end. I'm not wearing any.
- 1:07:32Speaker 3: Cub stuff, not even underneath.
- 1:07:34Speaker 2: I don't think. So it didn't do anything for me.
- 1:07:37Speaker 2: It should be we'll go to the game, we'll fly
- 1:07:38Speaker 2: back right after the game. It'll be a ton of
- 1:07:40Speaker 2: fun and it's gonna be awesome. Yeah, it should be fun.
- 1:07:44Speaker 2: But I'm not people asking are you gonna wear a cup? No,
- 1:07:46Speaker 2: I'm there with the Cardinals. I'm not gonna wear Cardinals stuff,
- 1:07:50Speaker 2: but I'm not gonna wear Cub stuff.
- 1:07:51Speaker 1: But if you're like, say you're on the field right
- 1:07:53Speaker 1: before the game whatever, and they're like, oh god, there's
- 1:07:56Speaker 1: a Cub, you can say hi to any of them.
- 1:07:57Speaker 2: Dude, they're like twenty years old. What do I care
- 1:07:59Speaker 2: about it?
- 1:08:00Speaker 3: You wouldn't want to meet anyone.
- 1:08:02Speaker 2: I'd like to meet the older ones like that are
- 1:08:04Speaker 2: way older than me.
- 1:08:05Speaker 6: Do you have a favorite player right now on the
- 1:08:07Speaker 6: team and the Cubs.
- 1:08:08Speaker 2: Well, just depends. I got a few rookies. It's all cards.
- 1:08:11Speaker 7: Now.
- 1:08:12Speaker 2: Cards are just a little stock.
- 1:08:13Speaker 3: Oh no, you're not taking cards?
- 1:08:14Speaker 2: Are listening cards? Or I figured out why I like
- 1:08:17Speaker 2: them now again, they're just little stocks, just a little gambling.
- 1:08:19Speaker 2: You just buy a box and see what you got.
- 1:08:20Speaker 2: And some of them more, some a lot aren't, and
- 1:08:23Speaker 2: if you hold them, it's just that's all it is.
- 1:08:25Speaker 2: It's basically cardboard gambling.
- 1:08:27Speaker 3: Are you going to play golf again?
- 1:08:29Speaker 2: I've not played one time. I understand, I know you
- 1:08:31Speaker 2: and replayed. I saw it on my phone, yes, and.
- 1:08:32Speaker 3: We were waiting for your call and you never called us.
- 1:08:35Speaker 3: Oh I was asleep, remember, well, then how did you
- 1:08:37Speaker 3: see us?
- 1:08:38Speaker 2: When I woke up? I saw you guys in like
- 1:08:39Speaker 2: sixteen or something.
- 1:08:40Speaker 3: Such a stalker, dude.
- 1:08:41Speaker 2: It pops up whenever you guys are playing golf.
- 1:08:43Speaker 3: Did you see the score? I murdered him. No, you
- 1:08:46Speaker 3: didn't murder Yes I did.
- 1:08:47Speaker 2: We were tied, still alive.
- 1:08:50Speaker 1: Technically he had incredible chip though for a birdie.
- 1:08:55Speaker 3: Yeah, thank you. Yeah, dude from like way off the green.
- 1:08:59Speaker 2: I haven't played one time, and I have a club, like,
- 1:09:02Speaker 2: not a golf club, like I'm a.
- 1:09:03Speaker 3: Mayor any more than one club.
- 1:09:06Speaker 2: I still have. My shoulders been killing me.
- 1:09:07Speaker 3: Okay, but I didn't know if you were.
- 1:09:09Speaker 1: You're doing cards instead of golf because you get obsessed
- 1:09:11Speaker 1: with certain things, so that sort.
- 1:09:13Speaker 2: I told my wife. She was like, what this obsession?
- 1:09:16Speaker 2: When does it? Because it was watermelon, then it was
- 1:09:18Speaker 2: memorabilia watermelon. When I was eating watermelon like ten times a.
- 1:09:21Speaker 3: Day, where is the cereal in there?
- 1:09:24Speaker 2: Cereal all the time? But I have no cereal in
- 1:09:26Speaker 2: my house right now. So I do get obsessed with things.
- 1:09:29Speaker 2: And I told my wife I go back to being
- 1:09:30Speaker 2: obsessed with golf and be gone all the time, like
- 1:09:31Speaker 2: that was some.
- 1:09:32Speaker 3: Sort of like tactics on all the time.
- 1:09:36Speaker 2: But I supposed to go, and I'm looking forward to
- 1:09:39Speaker 2: going to work and hang out with the much hated
- 1:09:41Speaker 2: of my whole life Cardinals, because I'm an adult man
- 1:09:44Speaker 2: and that stuff's not real.
- 1:09:45Speaker 1: What rivalries they are real, they're not. You're not gonna
- 1:09:48Speaker 1: send me to Philadelphia watch the Eagles play.
- 1:09:50Speaker 2: Yes, we would, and you would go. Probably would be
- 1:09:53Speaker 2: it fun, Like I would go. This would be a
- 1:09:56Speaker 2: tough one. I would go, and we do it too much.
- 1:09:58Speaker 2: Access at Texas be tough for me. But then it's
- 1:10:01Speaker 2: like I hate the long Horns, right, I hate the
- 1:10:03Speaker 2: long Horns like the worst. But really, I'm an adult
- 1:10:06Speaker 2: and when it comes to doing work, I don't know,
- 1:10:09Speaker 2: I don't know, I don't know.
- 1:10:10Speaker 4: That's tough.
- 1:10:11Speaker 2: That's the hardest one of any of them in the
- 1:10:13Speaker 2: history of my life. That one would be tough. So
- 1:10:15Speaker 2: all right, to make it happen. Then we're done. I
- 1:10:19Speaker 2: think that's it. Good show. Thanks to John middlecoff and
- 1:10:22Speaker 2: we will see you guys. I don't know, maybe later
- 1:10:25Speaker 2: next week or something. Patty blow to whistle, all right,
- 1:10:29Speaker 2: we'll see you guys next time.
