- PAC'd 12: Welcome back to another episode of the Pact Twelve, your favorite podcast for all things, Pact Twelve. I'm Salman Nash, and joining me as usual to my left, Brett Beerman, and to my right, Caden Bessant. It's Sunday, October fourth. First October episode, I believe. So it's pink awareness, breast awareness. A lot of pink being showed not in the NFL 'cause the NFL sucks. It is breast awareness month. Thank you, so yes. But how are we feeling? Breast awareness. I'm doing good, man. It's been a been a good weekend. The weather's starting to take a big, big shift and it's nice. I can throw in my max sweater, so I'm wearing it right now. First time. It's been dusted off since the win last winter, so happy to have it out and happy that we're in like the best time of the year 'cause now we have like sixty something straight days of football where we're gonna have a football game on every single day. College hoops starts in less than thirty days. We're ready. How about UK? How you doing, bro? Don't get better than this dude. Come on. Don't get better college sports conference play? Be exact in all Pac 12 sports, the weather, that's a big factor. Like I think we're done with ninety degrees here in Texas. The it's seventy-four right now. Come on. It's been seventies all day. Standing at the soccer game, it was really nice. The breeze was it's just gray. A little bit of light rain. Breeze. yeah. man, I was looking scared it was gonna rain, but then just stopped and like, that's perfect. But moving on to like I guess more housekeeping things, shout out To the support we've gotten from like everywhere, basically. Especially on YouTube. Since we've been telling y'all to subscribe, by the way, 50% of y'all, if you're watching this, I'll be recommended probably still aren't subscribed, so please do that. But ever since we started doing that, a lot of subscribers we've been seeing, I believe we got like plus twenty in just the last couple videos, so that's huge. A lot of covets on the last video as well. We'll get to those later. So yes, please drop a comment as well. We just want to interact with y'all. We a really good thing about this podcast in particular is that At the moment, it's eight teams. So there's eight different fan bases that could potentially watch these episodes. So if you got opinions or anything, even hate, bro. Bring it on, man. Brett loves to hate comments. I love it. Yeah. I I'll I'll sit there like Jon Snow in front of the army, man. So like like, comment, subscribe, just do it all. And if you're listening on Spotify or Apple, give like five stars, four stars, just be honest. But like thank you so much for the support that we've received. Nah, just give us five stars. Yeah, just go and go and hit the five. It's not gonna hurt you. god. But yeah, thank you so much for that. And then if we got anything else actually, yeah, we're gonna go over briefly because it's been we gotta advertise that we cover all sports here, not just football. And it is conference play, like Kay said, everywhere in the Pac twelve, including volleyball and soccer. So real quick rundown of the standing so far at the one spot as predicted by almost everyone in the volleyball world. Colorado State. Comfortably Eleven and three overall, four and in the conference, followed by Oregon State three in the conference, eight and six, and then right behind them at eight and six, but three and one in the pack twelve is San Diego State. And you see Boise State at ten and six, two and one at that four spot, then at the five is Utah State three and eleven, but two and two in conference. You know, that's all that matters in the grand scheme of thing. So if you could get it done, you get you could get it done. Washington State six and seven. One and two in conference, Texas State six and nine, one and three, and then the last two teams in conference play. The O and three Gonzaga, five and ten overall, and then Fresno State O and four five and ten. So it's not pretty good if you like volleyball out of California at the moment. I think I previewed those last three teams as well. Yeah. I guess I know volleyball. Same thing about the Zags, they're not good at all either. But yeah, that is your updated volleyball standings at the moment. Not really any much surprises. Colorado State on a five game win streak. They're they're really good. they should run away with it. Yeah, that's a well oiled machine. Yeah, that conference title basically has their name on it already. We're gonna shift over now to women's soccer. Boise State, surprisingly. At the moment, holds the number one spot. Best record overall at the conference have what eight in a row and their ten one and one two and in conference play. Their most recent win was I believe against San Diego State, knocked them off four and one. Utah State coming off a heated ranked matchup against Texas State. They got the better of the Bobcats and the proof to their conference record two and and being nine two and two overall, two game winning streak for the Aggies. Then Washington State Also, one of the few undefeated teams in conference. 2-0, 5-3-3 overall. Not the best record on paper, but conference is all that matters at this point in the season. So shout out to them. Three in a row. Then we just talked about San Diego State, 7-3-1. They just picked up a huge win today, upsetting the Texas State Bobcats to get their first win in conference. Then Colorado State right behind them. Two wins, I believe that's eight losses and two draws. But they're one and one in conference play, so they're above a couple other teams with better records, including Texas State, who were hot coming into conference play, but have quickly fell down the slippery slope. O and two in conference and seven three and two overall, losing their last two games. Haven't won since Louisiana Tech, I believe. Then Gonzaga five five and two. Owen one plays their second conference game tonight, I believe. Alongside Oregon State. Wouldn't be surprised if they played each other with how that schedule looks. Oregon State one nine and two, looking for their first second win overall, first win in conference, and Fresno State routed it out one ten and two, and two. So what a similar you know pattern there in the bottom. Really putting it all into football. I will say though, it at the very least, the soccer division is still incredibly competitive. Yeah. I know Texas State just lost to San Diego State. I know the conference play has been the best, but they're still in all these games. Utah State obviously very dom dominant still. St. Diego State kind of surprising me a little bit. And Boise being at the top, very cool. So still a lot of soccer to play. Been a very good season so far though. And then Washington State's won three in a row. So it it's on the up. Yeah. Up and up. Yeah, Washington State's probably the most interesting team there. Just they're pretty mid overall, but two and no in conferences like Don't matter now. I mean you see Colorado State, they're two eight and two and they're at five hundred in conference play. Anything can happen there, honestly. Quick little updated standings. And so I guess now we can go over to what you are probably here for football. Believe it was week five. Week five. Week five. So week five. We're almost at the halfway mark, man. Yeah, man. You w we only got three we only got three games this week 'cause of bye weeks. We're getting to that area of the season where teams are genuine on buys now. I think September flew by so fast. It did. Like genuinely. It's kinda crazy. But we gotta just appreciate it while it's here before it's completely gone. And week five was probably one of the most interesting weeks to begin. I mean, obviously conference plays does start. We got a couple of interesting games, good games, a lot of a couple of high scoring ones as well, and then a low scoring affair as well. So we can just get right into it. First game of the slate for the conference started at five o'clock, and it was Oregon State taking on Colorado State in Fort Collins. This was projected to be a high scoring game. The over, I believe, was like sixty and a half. Oregon State basically almost did that themselves. They beat the Rams 56 to 26 in dominating fashion. No Haas Haney again for the Rams, but didn't seem to matter because their defense couldn't stop a thing. And the biggest story to come out of this game was that their defensive coordinator was relieved of duties mid-game. And as Jim Moore said at his press conference, the Tyson Summers, DC, left the field. on his own accord after being relieved of display calling duties, but big win for the Beaves. Great game for the Beaves. Again started in the same story as Colorado State last week, started off the game fourteen fourteen and then just gave up a a lot of points thereafter. it offense starts out incredible. Case on Ferrar, I think he's gonna be I think he's gonna make a lot of money in the portal. next year. If if if Os Henny stays at Colorado State, I think he'll be he'll be just fine. and it was fun watching I love I love watching Jim Moore yell at people on the sideline every week. It's so mad. It's so entertaining. I I love him. let me s so I had a I had a stat real quick. Colorado State very interesting considering that they can like their defense can capitalize sorry their offense can capitalize off defensive turnovers so minus thirty five points off turnovers plus eight and then and they lead the nation in that stat. So I think that's very interesting for a defense that's pretty bad. Pretty bad, man. Yeah. It gave up like seven hundred over seven hundred total yards of offense. Yeah, and then and I think like over a hundred and some over a hundred and what, thirty, forty points in the past three games. So it's it's I I don't I don't know if there's been a game in these past few weeks where a team hasn't scored on them. 'Cause when you when you start hitting those that fifty range it's Like that's a mistake for your football, man. Like you're scoring on every drive, it seems like. Yeah. my biggest takeaway is just the same thing it always has been. Jesse Legree is so impressive, man. To think I found out this week on interview he had, found it on Exit that he didn't even play a receiver until his senior year high school. I saw that. And that kinda why is he i that is why he got underlooked and then boom, Jamarcus Shepherd flips him from across the country and gets him at Oregon State and Man, if you watch that postgame interview that they did on USA Sports after the game, like those dudes like love each other. And I think that is kind of the identity for Oregon State and what Jamarca Shepherd has built. Like everybody wants to play for him and he makes it really fun. Like I wish he was my coach. You know what I mean? Yeah. Watching him run off the field with Jesse Legree and fire up the Beaver fans that that are waiting at the tunnel. Like I mean, that dude is very, very passionate. And I think that goes back to what Nate Gatter said when we interviewed him what a couple of weeks ago. he said, you know, Jamarcus Shepherd kind of brings the attention to him, but it's almost on purpose to take the pressure off his players. And it looks like they're just going out there and playing freely. I mean, Braden Atkinson, 31 of 34, 427 yards, five touchdowns. Like they you could put a grandma in a wheelchair and Colorado State would not be able to guard her. Like honestly. Like that's what I'm seeing when I look at that. And I remember them throwing that drag route, I believe, in the third quarter to Jesse Legree. And the second he caught it, I was like, Watch, he's probably gone. Boom, he was. And he was gone. I I'm I know exactly where he is is is that where he like cross field and broke like three tackles on his way there? And he spun at the end. Yep. That dude's unreal. If Oregon State is able to keep him and Jamarcus Shepherd and Braden Atkinson, I I that's awesome. I have a feeling that they're gonna they're gonna be able to keep them. They have the money to do it. And there's actually a saw this week that Jamarcus Shepherd was talking about on the interview. He's like, We're working behind the scenes and people are literally creating like a fund to keep that core around. And that's a huge thing. That is a that is a way to buy in from two and ten last year to they actually haven't even done that much this year. They've won one conference game. I mean, they haven't done much, but they've shown that they can do a lot. You know what I mean? Like there's still stuff to prove for Oregon State, but you know that they are a legit football team. And even then, they're really exciting. That I think they are the most exciting football team to watch in the Pac twelve, even if you are a defensive guy. Watching that offense is unreal level of fun. And and right now they're the only team that can that can really, I think, compete with Boise. I think a lot of people are looking for like that with that number two team. Yeah. Yeah. Chesse LeGree will just have a field day against everybody. Like I genuinely think that he he should be in a Heisman conversation right now. I I don't think that's crazy as well. I don't think that's crazy at all to say. I don't think it's crazy. Either I'm not to cut you off, Brown's. No, you're fine no, I was just gonna say I have the I have numbers over their last few games. Colorado State's defense. My apologies. Against Oregon State, six hundred and thirty-nine yards, fifty-six points allowed. UTSA, five hundred and forty two yards, fifty nine points allowed. Against BYU, five hundred and fifty nine yards, forty one points. That's three games in a row where they give over four over five hundred, sorry. Against Southern Miss. Four hundred and forty two yards and twenty four points. Against Wyoming two hundred and seventy three thirteen. So that's obviously a little better, but that's the outline. It's only gotten worse. Like much, much worse for them. And it is to be noted too that they lost Mel Brown, their starting running back in the third quarter to a concussion. So not like it would have made a difference, but when injuries happen, it sucks. And Braden Atkinson actually this is through the games on Saturday, leads the nation in passing yards. He really is at one thousand eight hundred and fifty one. That is Hundred and seven more yards than the guy in second, Jaden Maiava at USC and sixteen touchdowns, two interceptions. That's also pretty good. He's almost almost a leader in the FBS for passing touchdowns. I believe Camario Taylor's the only guy that's got him beat with seventeen. So I'm about to look at receiving yards too, because I I Jesse Legree's. I think he's two. He's either one or two. He he was in the top five to start the week, so I think it's either. It's him and Jeremiah, I believe. Yep. Jeremiah Smith has him edged by seventy nine yards, I think. I mean when you're in talks with and he's gonna win the Heisman. I'm about to say when you're in talks with the other Heisman contender, I'm like the favorite Heisman. Same amount of touchdowns, by the way, too, nine. I mean, that's just insane. I mean, come on, if he's in a power four team, he's usually getting Heisman shouts. I th I think he's become what Ryan Ryan Williams was supposed to be. I saw someone say that Jamarcus this is what he does 'cause I believe Jamarcus Shepherd had Rondo Moore at Purdue and he had another guy, I can't remember his name, but he's just such a great wide receiver developer. And like we saw that before. And him getting Justin Legree, like you said, could come out all the way to the country, have him believe in him and immediately follow it up with just like we're gonna get you those stats and we're gonna get you paid in this league. He y he he obviously knew When you're bringing a guy in of that caliber that like you knew what you were bringing in and you knew he was gonna come in and make an impact right away. I just wonder how nobody else well, Caden well, I think Caden already said he didn't play until his senior year. Yeah. That's again. But a diamond in the rough, man, can congrats to them, man. They're fun to watch. I think it'd be not even just huge for Oregon State, but it is probably important to the Pac twelve that Jamarcus Shepherd, Brayden Atkinson, and Jesse Legree stay in the conference. That is gonna be huge because they are very exciting to watch. I mean, I literally just saw a tweet, even though I'm not crazy about him, but Barstool Big Cat, he has a very big platform. He just tweeted about how much he loves watching that core and and Oregon State play football. So it's one of the back twelve teams that yeah, it is a new conference that'll get more attention than probably usual that these kind of schools would have, because it is a brand new thing. But the fact that like nationally people are talking about this Oregon State team, that is a very, very good thing. Absolutely. I wanna kinda flip it over to the Rams 'cause like we talk about their struggles. Not sure if they have not sure if they play next week. They're they're on a bye. They're on a bye. So their next game will be against Texas State in like a w week and a half in San Marcus. But what where do they go from here? 'Cause obviously New D C I s one funny th Jim Moore's really funny guy. 'Cause the moment in that press conference he said when they put in the interim guy in, first play they got was a strip fumble sack. So, you know He's obviously doing some great work. I I was off to a great start. Yeah, that's basically what he said. I loved the way Jim Moore just so bluntly answered the first question he got about that too. He said, Yeah, no, he was relieved of his duties mid game. He's no longer with the program. He wanted to move on from that. And then he was like, Is this a future thing? He's like, it's a permit. It's a damn permit. But like, where does where does Colorado State go from here? They need Haas Haney back, and not I mean, not that that's gonna stop the bleeding much, but they They gotta figure out some on that defense. That's really the only thing that I think is really hindering them from getting any further in this conference. Ferrar's a good quarterback, but he's he's not Haas Haney, right? I mean, he's the guy and he he just has been and that's kind of the guy that they need out there to lead that offense 'cause I think they also will score more points with Haas Haney. And yeah, I I think it's similar to not to do this, but like Texas State last year. Like that offense was gonna score points. It was just a matter of how much the defense was gonna allow, you know. Could the offense score more than the defense allowed? That sounds so simple in football because that is how it works. But like literally that you you were playing against your own defense. Right. Anytime they allowed a score, you had to go score. Otherwise the game was over. that's kind of where Colorado State is right now. And I think for them, th they they just gotta try to get six wins and find themselves in a bowl game right now. I hate to say it because I really thought It was gonna be a little bit better, but I it's year one of Jim Moore, so I wouldn't freak out. A lot of these teams are in year one, so it's a a lot of excitement to to be having this conference in the years to come. And I still think Jim Moore is a great coach. I saw people say a thousand percent yeah. I saw people saying that they didn't really think he was all that because, you know, him firing a guy mid game, all that. No, he he's turned that program around very quickly. It's just he you can't build a really good offense and a really good defense and then have the culture and then everything work all at once. It's a lot harder to do that. he he's trending in the right direction for the Rams. They also broke a program record for highest attendance ever. Yeah, sold out. Forty one thousand. That's awesome. So that's awesome. People are showing up to games that we'll talk about some attendance around some other games, wasn't as good, but they show up in Fort Collins. Just want to say as well too, his first year at UConn Jimmore, they started off the year one four and they made a bowl game. So hey, it's it's it's still early on. I mean, I know we're almost halfway. There's still a lot of football to be played. There's still a lot of Lot of ways this can go. Props him for having the guts to fire someone mid game too, 'cause there are a lot of people that would just wait till the season is over because of the drama, but he said, Or because they're friends with this now. The politics, bro. It's like some people let the coaches like that. Yeah, I do. yeah. It's straight business for Jim Moore though. That's why I like him, and I think he's gonna have Colorado State in a good position this time next year, year after that and so on. I just want to give a shout out to Darrell Robinson. One of the few bright spots for a Colorado State yesterday. He had a twenty one carries, a hundred to some yards and a touchdown, you know. Next match. I feel I feel like that op you gotta when Hoss Haney does come back, I'm sure they got the bye week, they're gonna have extra time for them to get healthy. When Haas Haney does come back for the Texas State game, having a running back that you can rely on and hopefully get your main guy back, it's gonna be a shootout, I think. That's how that game's gonna go, but it it just depends on how who gets I don't know, it could go either way. I'm so glad that he's more than likely gonna be healthy and get this buy. By the time they come to San Marcus, because I'm working that game. So I'll be in the press box watching Hoss Haney play football and I I've been dying to see it. I'm very excited, man. Yeah, I I I didn't even really think about that. Like just He should be healthy for us to watch him play. He absolutely should be there. He should have played this week, but I think it's that's I know if he could, he probably would have. I know we're a week away from even previewing that, but that's gonna be fun. We we kind of talked with Nate about like what kind of scores we like. I'm obviously the offensive shootout kind of guy. So man, yeah. Hause will give me that tree, please. Alrighty. Well, that does it for that game. We're gonna move on to the second game of the Slate. A little bit more high scoring than I anticipated. Probably we all did. Boise State and Utah State. That one ended 37 to 18. Broncos get it done as we all predicted. But Utah State showed a little bit more fight. A little it was kind of a weird game from Utah State, just because of the fact that Bronco Meneho, I swear to God, he was just switching quarterbacks every drive. He was and it was very fun. They had Utah State had a great first drive. Go ahead, Kid, sorry. He dead ass did that. He did it like the first half, I think. Yeah, the first half he was just switching everything. I was working a different a totally different high school game and I didn't get to watch this game and the Oregon State one really. But I yeah, I was 'cause I texted you guys and I was like, Grady Prosserhouse is five for five with fifty five yards in like the first quarter. And then I see Javen Jacobs, I believe, or is that the running back? That's the running back. McKay Hillstead. Yeah, McKay Hillstead. I was like, why why does he have passing attempts? Like what happened? And he also had r he also had rushing attempts. He had six rushing attempts as well. Yeah, if he if he got two quarterbacks, he got none. Before we seriously get into this game, I just want to say you guys can apologize whenever about Grady Brosterhouse. I'm not going to. I mean twelve for eighteen, hundred and twenty nine yards, two touchdowns, zone interceptions, seventy four point seven QBR. Don't even bring up QBR. You said it was a bullshit stat. Don't even bring up I'm only gonna use it when it benefits me. he was sacked five times too though, so I guess Boise's front seven, I mean, they they really ate him up, honestly. This is the longest Utah State game I've watched this year. Yeah, as you just Brady Brosterhouse is a good quarterback, man. He just he he he Utah State is bad in a lot of other places, man. They have a lot of other issues they need to worry about. I don't think Grady Brosserhouse is the least of their issues. Also, shout out Eli Wood. Learned about him this week. Dude's a dog. Yeah, no, Eli Wood. Great receiver. Yeah. Eli Wood is a great receiver. What are you gonna say? This is a team I thought was gonna be able to air it out a lot better, and they did kind of show that. I think we kind of expected them to have a good passing attack, and I mean they did play the WYSI state secondary, so Which hasn't been very good though. Yeah, that's what I'm that's what I'm saying. Right. So you're trying to praise Brady Brosserhouse. He played pretty mid secondary. You don't say. You don't say. Yeah, eat shit, Brad. I mean, I'm not gonna give any props to Greedy Boss House, but shout out to Boise for getting the job done. Even though it looked a little bit interesting at a couple of times, it's like twenty four no twenty eight to ten at one point, which is like okay, you like Utah State scored ten points. What are we doing? Hey, what what's the saying? Good teams win, great teams cover. They covered. Bang they lost by nineteen and unless that line moved right before kickoff, I remember this time last week it was twenty and a half. Mm. So they covered. You know They covered Broncos. Can we can we praise the Broncos though real quick 'cause they did end up winning this game. Yeah, no, Matt Matt Maddox Madsen did his thing. Two hundred and forty four yards, two touchdowns. We talked about Damien Jacobs on the other side. A little bit of a slower game from Boise. Dylan Riley, not a hundred yards, but still had a phenomenal game, ninety three on the ground, two touchdowns. He had some rushes when it counted though, like a long thirty three yard rush. That one was awesome. Yeah. He also leads the nation in rushing yards. He has thirty three more yards than Cam Cook out of West Virginia, so we've got two Pac-12 running backs in the top ten in rushing yards. That's Christian. So and to think about that. That's an offensive conference, man. We thought Cyre Gaines was gonna be the guy. But he has been hurt the last two games. But like Dylan Riley has kind of just pulled over and been the guy to be like, I'm gonna get you yards. That's that's a guy that's gonna be insane. That just makes it harder to defend, honestly. I think it might have been people were trying to defend Cyr Gaines and then They knew about Dylan Riley, but then he went ahead and showed them what they didn't know. Yeah. Mm-hmm. And he's getting eighteen carries a game. Like that's a that's a really good opportunity for you to show what you're made of. Also, I just want to say too that I I said this on the pregame show last night. I think Boise State can be the first group of five team to make this college football playoff and win a game. I think they're so good everywhere. It's gonna come down to who they match up against and how good is their packet. Right. Like if they're going through any of these like teams one through four, like a Georgia, Alabama, like Indiana, if they win the Big Ten Ohio State, it might be over. But like if you fall into Oregon again, if maybe you catch like Iowa somehow, like that's Iowa teams that can't throw the ball that's I mean, i i look it has to line up. The stars have to align, but I mean that would be huge for the group of five to get like a a a win in the college football playoff, especially the Pac twelve, yeah. to first year of this new look conference to go win a college football playoff game. Yeah. That's like the best you can hope for right now. And it's between Boise State and Oregon State. I was just gonna say who says it can't be Oregon State? I'm not saying it can't be. But I just I really think that like at the end of the day it will be Boise. And I I think I think they have the best chance out of all these group of five teams even outside the Pac twelve to get a win in this college football playoff. Yeah. Man, I can't wait for that Boise Oregon State game. It's not going to be to like I think the very last yeah. Like damn near the last week of the season. But that's gonna be such an elite game. Also, shout out our guy Rashawn Jones. Yeah, it is. Freshman of the year. If Jesse Legree didn't exist, probably Jesse Legree would like a word. That's tough, man. We yeah, that was just not on our radar because I believe me and you had Rashawn Jones freshman of the year, then Jesse Legree just does this. It's like Yeah. He was on nobody's radar. Besides Jamarcus Shepherds. Nah, for real. But Boise gets it done. As they should. And Utah State, you what? They didn't look too bad in this loss, though. I'll give him props for that. They've definitely looked worse. They're getting better. They are getting better. But and you what? Grady Brass is getting better. He's going from like ass to mid. I'll take that. Utah State gets better. Especially since the game Jane Denigal had this weekend. Hey, he got the window. Listen, I just look at the numbers. The QBR is really my favorite number and that's that's a mom looking up. Utah State is getting better and that's a problem for some of these for Texas State. That's a problem for actually the next four teams we're about to talk about, honestly. Yeah. Yeah, we could just go right into it. The third to last game, no second to last game on the slate, a prime time affair between Fresno and Washington in Pullman. The Bulldogs beat down the Cooks Cougs twenty six to six, and it was a s another struggle for the offense for Wazoo. And Fresno eventually just pulled away. This game at one point was six to six. And just yeah, like I said, Fresno just pulled away towards the end there and it's kinda just looking kinda over for Washington State, unfortunately. Right, you have the floor. Yeah, unless they unless they I'll say I'll talk about Wazoo first. So it's no go ahead. You want me to Yeah, yeah, no problem. We know you want to talk about that. Talk about the winning team, yeah. I do. So we'll we'll offense not or not where I would like it to be, obviously, against a team that I thought they really should have pulled away against first worst week in the pack twelve. You're facing a lot of these guys for the very first time. I'm sure Fresno and Washington State have played before, obviously, but That's actually a good question to ask. I really I honestly, man, I don't have a lot of good things to say. I mean, they obviously did enough to get the win, but I just think Washington State is like just not a good team right now. And I think Fresno State could have put just about anybody on that offense and they would have probably scored more than six points. So I just think it comes down to Wazoo. I mean, Ryan Leaf was talking about on the broadcast. I kind of hinting at that Kirby Moore kind of needs to take over the play calling again. It seems like he still hasn't done that. And I think it's kinda hindering Caden Pennick a little bit, man. Cause there's I just watch him take snaps, man. And and he and even when when when he throws it, he has such a zip on the ball. He throws such a good ball. He's such a good runner. There someone he he is not the problem. He is being wrong somewhere in this coaching staff and I don't know where. Obviously something needs to change up, but really sad for the for the Cougars. I really wanted Caden Pennick to be Be lights out this year, but also shout out four and one President State Bulldogs. I thought Jaden Mandal looked pretty solid, right? He had no touchdowns, but like you know, their identity is running the ball, anyways, and that's how they scored, anyways. but they really good special teams, really good defense, and that definitely won them the game. That offense, I don't think, won them that game, honestly. Agreed. But Jaden Mandal looks consistent, right? And that's what they're gonna need out of him. He doesn't. make mistakes, right? That's that's all they need him to do. That's what Mad Ants wanted. And that's winning them football games. So that is a good thing. I'm I'm I don't hate Fresno, right? It's like to troll you. Of course, of course. It was really funny you started doing a victory laugh. And then the the offense immediately went back to factory settings. You should have seen Me and Soul while we were watching this game, like eyes were glued, even while Texas State was playing. My eyes were glued to this game because I so badly wanted the victory lap to you. Yeah, I know. I I love the the the Fresno hate watching is so funny to me. And I'm like but I'm low-key like doing the same thing with like Wazoo. So it's like we're we're we're like we're we're hate watching each other, but like but like also it's like Man. Yeah. Like man, like it neither was good to watch. Like I I'm not I can't sit here and like get on my pedestal and like talk about these Bulldogs as as much as I would like to 'cause the the rushing game was I was just gonna talk about Jade Mandal, thank god like you like you said, Caden, thank God he played consistent enough to to get them points. But yeah, man, I am I'm not worried but definitely keeping an eye on on the Bulldogs now. I think they played a bad team. I think it's time we go ahead and say Wazoo's pretty bad. Like I don't I I don't know if there's any coming back from this unless they somehow just spit off, you know, every game that they've got left on their schedule with the W and just completely flip the switch in five days, six days. I don't think it happens. I think Washington State's just not good this year. It is what it is. They went from seven and five, new coach, supposed to be really good offensively. They absolutely stink offensively. Caden Pennett got sacked five times. We know the offensive line is a problem. Nobody rushed for over thirty yards. Fact, Pennick had negative twenty three yards on eleven attempts, so he ran the ball six times, got sacked five. that certainly doesn't help. yeah, that it was bad. That was really bad offensive performance. I mean, they literally every time you got the ball, it just f you just felt like you were waiting for them to just figure it out and click on a drive. Mm-hmm. Especially in that third and fourth quarter. And it just didn't happen. It was either Caden Pennick has got pressure, he's moving around the pocket, and I think some of that is he's young playing in the FPS for the first time. He Kind of is doing a little bit too much. and I also think as much as I'm high on him and want to see him be one of the best quarterbacks in the country, he he makes young quarterback mistakes. He definitely does. And but I mean, what was it? It was in the fourth quarter, it was like a must get the first down. They were inside their own their own twenty five and that Fourth and six or something. They threw it right to the receiver, a little bit behind him, but like I mean it was on the money. It hit his chest, hit his hands, and he dropped it like easily catchable ball. I'm a big believer in if it hits your hands, you have to catch it. Yeah. And he was like wide open. So there there was no interference. He just had to worry about catching the ball hitting the ground. And it just slipped right through. Wanna read off a couple stat lines so we did talk about quarterback. Jade Mandal, twenty four out of thirty three, two hundred and fifty five, two hundred and forty five yards, no touchdowns, no picks either. Got sacked once and then K talked about a Kaden Pennick on the other side. Five sacked. And then he threw twenty-one thirty-four times, completed twenty-one of those passes, only a hundred and fifty-two yards and a pick. I believe that came towards like the fourth quarter. Wasn't that like the ice in the I think so. thirty rushing yards as a team, by the way. I know they lost twenty-three of them on those sacks, but like still. I mean, even if it's just fifty three, it's still Not good. Like I don't care how good that defense is, you should at least be able to run for like eighty yards and get some, you know, quality rushes when you need You really should be able to do that if you're gonna win football games. They can't do that. They this team stinks. Yeah, it's I hate to say it too. I think Wazoo's like the worst kind of bad team as well, just for the fact that their defense just overperforms. And they're not getting better either. Their defense overperforms and so they keep like against a struggling offense like Fresno, they keep in these games, and then you're wait like you said, you're waiting for that offense to figure it out, and they never do. So you're just wasting your time. Like if it was just a really bad team, they're gonna get blown out. You're done by halftime. Like you're not watching the rest of that game. And going into the fourth quarter was thirteen to six. That's what I'm saying. Like you have to watch that game if you're in Wazoo. If you're in Pullman or a Wazoo fan, you're watching that game cut to one score game. But you know deep down that it's nothing's gonna happen. That that might you might as well be up three scores. And as close as that game was, a lot of people left. They were booing their own team. They knew there was no faith though. They knew that it was not gonna happen. And you know, we're just innocent bystanders watching from, you know, three thousand miles away, just waiting to see it happen and it just didn't. I think I can't figure out the issue to the problem, but I know where the finger should be pointing. I don't think it's Caden Pennick, but I do think he does have some of the responsibility 'cause he is young. And then I think that goes to Kirby Moore developing him and getting him to be better and smarter. But then it goes to what Ryan Leaf said, Nate said it as well. I'm sure they probably had this conversation multiple times already. Kirby Moore was brought in to be a really good play caller and he doesn't call the plays and their offense stinks. he should probably call the plays 'cause he was with Mazoo and the SEC and they were the best offensively that they have ever. ever been up to that point when Kirby Moore was there. So that tells me if he was successful calling plays in the SEC, yeah, with SEC players, he should be able to do it with a guy like Caden Pinnock. But that offensive line does make it really hard. So does Kirby Moore take the play calling? Does he not? Because I think he should at least see what happens to try and salvage the season. Yeah. And then we'll see then if it really is you know, the offensive line or the receivers 'cause I don't think they have a really good receiver core. I was really high on Daniel Blood, but it just hasn't gotten going. And I think it might have to also do with Caden Pennick having no time to throw. Shout out to Fresno though. Yeah. I think it's the same thing for Wazoo, but the exact opposite as it is for like Colorado State. That defense is playing against their offense. That defense is like, well, if our offense doesn't score, we better not give up a touchdown or the game is over. Like their defense is just gonna and special teams are gonna have to score touchdowns. If they want to win and the offense can't do that themselves. Right. And they have and they have such a good defense and special teams. That's what like stings even more. It's such a frustrating tune to watch. It genuinely is. They should be so good. Like if they really should be. If their offense just had a pulse. Just a pulse. Just slightly like a little bit. Just like if they had like one area of the game figured out. Like if they could run in and not pass, fine. If you could pass and not run, fine. They can't do either. If this game ends twenty six twenty one, are we like like How how are you feeling about Washington State compared to twenty one? No, he's saying if it did. If it did. How are they getting that twenty one points? I'll say like Caden Pinnock has a touchdown and then like maybe like twenty more rushing yards and a touchdown by w how you say his last name, Voorhees. Yeah. Yeah. I gotta watch the drive to see how they got there and did it. 'Cause what if they just got lucky and busted coverage or something? There's factors into it. Listen, I still think. They don't you they don't have the ability to expose a bust to coverage. Nope. They didn't Better better better vibes for one and four teams before we move on. Washington State or Utah State. Utah State. The way that they just played Boise. At the moment, yeah, I guess. The way they played Washington the week before that, which I don't think is a great team, but still, right? Compared to Utah State, yeah. Yeah. yeah, I think I'd like to Aggie's chances. I'd really be interested to see that game, Utah State and Washington State, 'cause that is like the battle of poops. Yeah. Tiddle of poop. To your point. The poop bowl. To your point about the Kirby Moore thing, Wazoo doesn't have a buy until November. By that point the season will probably be over if it's not over already. So I just want to see just Kirby Moore just take over right now. Also I will say, I think Caden Pennick's stats and what people think of him so far through this year look completely different if he's in Brayden Atkinson's shoes. Yeah. I mean just having Jesse Legree. Even if also Braden that's not taking anything away from Brayden Atkinson. Amazing player. Sixty touchdowns, two interceptions. I agree. They they have to figure it out, though. I hate to be saying this too, because I was kind of building some wazoo fandom coming into this, and now I I have to watch them play football because I I'm just waiting for Caden Pinnock to do his thing. I have to. I have to I have to see it when it happens. Gotta be miss it. Can't miss it. Well to I guess we're just gonna round it out to the last game of the slate. The Pac twelve after dark game of the night was of the Texas State versus San Diego State. The Bobcats travel to the Mesa to go to Snapdragon Stadium and the Aztecs would come back down ten, I believe, and pull out seventeen to three, yeah. Fourteen, my fault. Came back down fourteen to get the dub. Thirty one to twenty nine. This one came down to the very final play and San Diego State ends their losing streak. And get that first dub in the conference. And Texas State, believe they're now two and three. Two and three, yep. Two and three, and one in conference. I mean, the floor is open. I we c we're just we're going to be here for a minute. I'm sorry, y'all. We try not to show our biases. We're gonna be here for a little bit. We saved this one for late, for last, so we could G give it a little bit more time. I will say I don't care Caden go ahead and start off, but I don't care which two teams were playing in this game. If it was the same type of game, we'd be talking about it for a minute because this was easy the best game yesterday. This was our first look at Pac twelve after dark. It was the best game yesterday and it delivered. Like like I was saying, if if I wasn't a Texas State alum, if y'all weren't Texas State students and I was just somebody, you know, if I was a Colorado State fan laying in bed, a freaking Georgia fan laying in bed watching this game late at night, I was easily easy. pleased and entertained because this was a great football game, even though it was kind of shitty football on both sides, it was just the best best combination of everything in this game. I don't even know where to start. I will say GJ Kenny is not great. He's okay. He's good as a coach because from what we've seen, having been here plenty of times, he does this every year. multiple times. Yep, this is right on schedule actually for for GJ. It's actually a few weeks off schedule. They usually don't fall off this fast. It's a couple weeks sooner this year. this team was getting better every week, even after the U TSA game. I mean, they looked like they were getting better and then you watched the first half, it was like, Okay, they're they're gonna win this game dominantly like they should. San Diego State missing, I believe someone said ten starters. Ten plus starters, twenty overall. They had the mumps thing going on. which was hilarious, but the all week. I didn't think it was real. I thought it was a joke whenever they said, they got the mumps. I'm like, damn tweeted and I was like, No, is it deadass? Did that say mumps? I haven't heard that since I was a like I thought we had a vaccine for that stuff, man. What the fuck? Not San Diego. Guess not. And to think Texas State let this happen when there was absolutely nobody in the stands at Snapdragon Stadium, there's really no home field advantage for San Diego Stadium. It was a decent turnout, but you really couldn't tell. No. They were way too spread out then because it it was just kind of poor attendance and they have that the official website says they had about twenty eight thousand people there. Hell no. and the Padres were playing all the way in Milwaukee last night when that game was happening. So this is true. Those people had no reason to not get cheaper entertainment and watch a really freaking good football game. Tech State lost it on special teams. Brad Jackson made some really weird mistakes that he usually doesn't make. I that very last touchdown or very last interception. My apologies. Yeah. I will say, I don't I'm not gonna lie. That one specifically, I don't think that was Brad's fault. I think that was just an extraordinary play by the defense. I think what I saw from San Diego State, 'cause I don't want to just hammer on Tech State. I think the first one was his fault. San Diego State Looked like they watched a lot of film and they knew what was coming. They made more adjustments. You watched when Brad was trying to throw. I mean, there's more than one guy there. They knew where he was going, whether it's just simple stuff like reading his eyes or just knowing from watching film and adjusting mid game as a coaching staff and a team. They did a really good job of that. I was really impressed with how their defense played and kind of flipped a switch. and yeah, Jaden Denegall still sucks. I really hate that he's got this one over me. But over Brad too, man. That was a really good game, man. Be so fruit. That was a great game. It was a fun game. shout out to San Diego State's O line as well. Backup center and two third string O line and a third string running back and zero sacks allowed. No wow. In pr in incredible. Talk about next man up. And and also too, again I wanna I wanna talk about him. Josiah Lucas, the freshman, the true freshman, the third string running back who's come in for for Lucky Sutton and Javion Kennard. Came in and played a great game for the Aztecs and and stepped up when he really needed to. And I will say one thing that I was actually really confident about this Bobcats defense, it was their rush what was their rush attack and it's what we talked about last week. You just let a freshman run all over you. And you just let a bunch of bunch of bench warmers, special teamers, like take your offense to to to dinner. Like it's it it's very disappointing, man. And and Just to like hear the same old tired excuse of I gotta watch the film, you know, I'll do b you know. See what we gotta be better. We gotta be better here, and it's like When is that gonna come? Yeah, like we're still waiting. I wanna I wanna read the stats. Yeah. I don't I don't have the stats in front of me, so I won't be able to talk about that now. These are just the team stats. one that already pops off the page. First downs, Texas State thirty four, San Diego State thirteen, passing yards. First downs? First downs. Rushing yards. Texas even though hate this team. Even though San Diego State did have a great runner, Texas State outran them one hundred and ninety three to one thirty. Passing yards. my three hundred and seventy two to one nine. my god. Total yards of offense five hundred sixty five to two forty. And Texas State punted three times to San Diego State six times. And you know the rest. But all that a time of possession, of course. Time of possession, forty. To San Diego State's twenty. I'm rounding up. I didn't even see that they doubled. Texas State doubled Texas State very many yards. Texas State very much outplayed San Diego State and San Diego State got the dub. And it's happened multiple times in the Kidney area. This is nothing new. Yeah, he he's gotta find some Jim Moore in him if he has it and find a way to fire somebody or do something. I will say the talk over here in San Marcus is if you watch a game, if you watched that game, you would see the CW broadcast, which was pretty bad by the way. Yeah, some terrible difficulties, but here to hate on them. They they put our games on national T V. We appreciate that as a conference. Yeah, Kenny, you he gets shown on on the T V all the time and when it's like these crunch situations, he's just staring. Like I don't even know what he's looking at. Like it's I I wanna know what's going through his head. You don't see him engaging with the players. You don't see him getting on somebody for making a mistake like Texas State's punter Tom Flintoff who had a very terrible game. This is this is now we we've kinda let him off the hook float by because the kicking problems just because he has a shank, I feel like, every game or a couple of Tom Flinttoff's the punter. That's what I'm saying. okay. That's why I I feel like we we haven't talked about him enough because the kicking has been so bad. He's been punting for like not even a year. He's out of Australia. It shows. Yeah. Yeah. That's just a little Was it just because he's out of Australia and that's like what we're doing in college football? They get guys recruited there. but yeah, Kenny he if you look at Jamarcus Shepherd, do the exact opposite and that's GJ Kenny. Like no personality whatsoever. He very rarely shows it. He's such a monotone coach. He doesn't really get exciting to your impressors. Every once in a while he'll crack a joke and it's funny. But like he's just so monotone, he's bland. and I think we're letting him get off the hook. This is where I thought you were going with this, just because he's having winning seasons and Texas State is not used to it. But damn, I wish I had it in front of me. He has a sub five hundred record in conference play from the Sun Belt to now, of course. he's been terrible on conference play and it's sorry, but we as much as we want you to beat U T S A, I'd rather you much beat San Diego State like you should and all the other teams in the past. he's losing games when it when it matters most and his teams are falling off big time and then he just f somehow finds a way to get him to lock in and go to a bowl game pretty much. An irrelevant bowl game at that. But yeah, yeah, nobody wants to go to the first responder bowl this year for the third time. They don't here. I can't do it anymore. I I kinda like it 'cause I can drive up there and go, but other than that I don't care. I mean that the freaking Alamo Bowl. That's what it is, right? Alamo bowl? The one in San Antonio? Yeah. Yeah. Alan Bob. Yeah, the Valero Alan Mobile. Yeah. That's for the Pac twelve. That's up for grabs for a Pac twelve team this year. That's right down the road. Yeah. So someone's probably going to be playing in and it could be Texas State have a huge crowd, but this team probably not winning six games, if I'm being honest with you right now. But Kenny needs to be more of a leader. He was that when he was in the NFL and a great quarterback at Tulsa, and he's just not that. And I kind of hate it watching it. I I want my coach to be like Jamarcus Shepherd, and I know I can't Beggars can't be choosers, but he just is boring. And everything that goes on in his mind scheme wise and all that is really great. Like he's a very brilliant coach. But I just wish he would engage more with these players. He's shown that he can recruit and bring in the talent. There's something missing. Something's missing, and I think that's what it is. I think the way you're describing him, it just seems like he's he'd be a great coordinator. Yeah. He just doesn't have the head coach Gene. Shout out to Kev Cardello for asking the hard question. We were just talking about. Yeah. Yeah. He literally brought it up in the postgame presser in San Diego last night and said, Do you delegate those hard situations to coordinators? And boy, Kenny never answered a question. So that's that's journalism like for real. Because that's a hard question to ask. You probably get nervous asking that no matter what great report. You know that's coming up. You're and you're waiting to ask You're risking your credentials, right? Exactly. Yeah. And yeah. And yeah. Kenny's just gotta be more involved vocally. I think that's really what he doesn't have to run around and pump up the crowd like Jamarcus Shepherd, but he needs to be involved vocally in those moments and he just doesn't need to delegate anything and I guess one thing we can talk about 'cause this is kind of what the focal point is is terrible two minute drive. I wanted to yeah, wanna emphasize that 'cause one on the presser specifically that Kev posted, I saw that they asked him I it was Caleb's question from the statesman. they asked him that would you Do you regret not spiking it after you get the first down? And you remember, I told you we were s right next to each other. The moment we got that first down, I told you we gotta spike that ball. You said we gotta spike that ball. Everyone in that stadium. Because then you still had a play after that before the field goal attempt. And also another thing on that is they didn't work the sidelines. They didn't at all. No timeouts by the way, either. So it's not like you kinda have to work the sidelines. Yeah, you have no choice. So Caleb asked him, would you if you could, would you go back and spike? He said Probably would go back and spike it. That's like the last thing you ever want to hear from a coach. I know I can't I can't speak on this because I am no way qualified to be a football coach at all, but it just seems so obvious that you have to do that in that situation that I wonder what happened spur of the moment that made them think otherwise. And it's I'm gonna blame for it. You should But I do know that things happen in the moment and you think something else and I just want to know what it was. Well you didn't hear well the last part of the question he said well to answer. He like went on and he said that we try to maybe catch him off guard. They they thought we were gonna spike it, so we try to run a play. That's and you know what's crazy? And it's it's wait. The decision the decision is bad at itself, but I think the really capped off and it's not Kenny's fault. This one goes on Brad Jackson. If you're gonna run a play, you have to have the awareness to know that a sack is literally ending the game. And it ended the game basically. You can't take a sack there. Brad Jackson held on to the ball for way too long and he got sacked. Try to make a play. If it's breaking down, there's nothing open, and you know you have no timeouts, you cannot get tackled on the open field. You have to throw that ball away. The play that they were gonna spike it on, too, by the way, and they ended up, you know, Brad was getting hurried and barely got it on the ground with one second left. That was a hurry by Cooper Cameron. And before we just have gone way too deep into a rabbit hole. Shout out Cooper Cran Cameron. He won San Diego State that game. He had seven total tackles. He had that thirty two yard pick six in the fourth quarter that was huge. He also blocked a field goal attempt with about three minutes left in the second quarter. that dude won them the game. He also had the hurry right there, on the second to last play of the game. That dude balled out for sure. Absolutely. But I was I was just gonna say I'm just I'm just kinda tired of just having everyone know What to do in these late game situations except the coaching stuff. Yeah, I think and it's happened too many times. I think I'm an Oregon State fan now. How about you? Wazoo is disappointing me. And it it it it's Fresno won't disappoint you, brother. All right. I don't like their colors. I like Oregon State's orange, you know. And also I hate that they call their fan section the red wave. Fresno? Yeah, I think that's kinda stupid, yeah. It's dumb. I hate that tractor thing they do too. that's pretty sick. Come on. That's That's kind of goofy. But any any other words you got on Texas State? special teams an issue. They gave up that that kick return touchdown to start the half. And Jim Moore talked about it last week, actually. So a little foreshadowing here. Most of the time it and the statistics are back this up. When you give up a kick return touchdown, it's odds are you're gonna lose the game. Yeah. So like no matter what the score is at the time, like 'cause that's just like a massive momentum shift for the other team because that's a very hard play to make and When you show that you can make those plays, that really that really gets a team going. So it's again, when you start that second half with that that kick return touchdown, man, that's just And it was it was just perfect because the offense besides like when they were in scoring position already, just hand the ball off, they weren't moving the ball. They couldn't get down and get in the scoring positions themselves. So when you let the special teams generate points for them You're just asking to lose the game. And the defense with a pick six as well. Yeah. They literally like twenty-one points were because of the defense and special teams. Kickoff return, punt sets you up on the three. Punt fumble sets you up on the three. And then the pick six. Twenty-one points right there. Shout out San Diego State. They didn't they didn't win but one quarter in this game. And that was the third quarter, and that won them the game. Offensively and special teams and all that. They scored twenty-one in the third quarter. And then of course I think defense. won them that thing in the fourth as well, but I think Texas State kinda lost it for themselves too though. That's a pretty obvious thing. That's another story we've heard before. Also win or loss. Sorry, just to get to We booze. Win or lose we booze, right? But if you're a coach, win win or lose, if you bring your kids into the press conference, I don't like that. Is that what Kenny did? No, not Kenny. Sean Lewis did that. Listen, I I understand a big win, you're excited. It's the first one the conference they're two and three. Well that's what Like like bro, like he's like it it's it's I'm not saying he did this, I'm not accusing him of doing it, but it's a way to dodge tough questions because like a reporter is most likely not gonna be like Make you mad in front of your kids. Exactly. Hey, can you talk about the mumps in front of your kids? Can you imagine Can you imagine Kev asking that question he did at Kenny when his kids are right there? That takes balls. What were you saying about it? That that was it. Yeah, I think that was it. I that that's really all I got. Shout out to Good Week in football, regardless of the loss. San Diego State and Fresno State and Boise State for their first ever Pac twelve wins. That was sick. Congrats to those fan bases. Congrats to Aztec Republic. Yeah, shout out to You were in that one, Mr. Beav. Shout out to sorry to TF C S U. Yeah, it was rough. Sorry to TFCSU. We love you, bro. But I believe I saw his tweet. I don't remember if this is exactly what it said, but it was like post game analysis beer. Real Brethren. Post analysis beer drink. All right. Well that covers up the recap for week five. Brett, out of all that, who is your player of the week? So we were a little under the influence last week. We kind of forgot to give a player of the week. Sorry about that. The player I was going to give it to last week, ironically, won it this week. So Braden Atkinson, congratulations. You just ball don't lie. Yeah, ball don't lie. Four hundred twenty seven yards, only three incompletions on thirty one for thirty four. And five touchdowns, and obviously Jesse Legree had a great game, a lot to do with that, but Jesse Legree doesn't have this kind of game without Brayden Atkinson. So he's got so many Pac-12 freshmen of the weeks already. I think he has all he don't need our award. He don't need us. He's getting real hard. I want to say it's an honorable mention for me, Cooper Cameron from San Diego State. That that dude literally won his team a football game. Also also Broco's in special teams. Also shot shout out sorry, the joke's over now. I I should have Grady Bros. All righty. Well that concludes Brad's player of the week. We're gonna go over to the football standings now. We talked about a little bit before with other sports, but after one week of conference play as it stands, Boise at the very top tied with Fresno four and one and four and one, both one and in conference. Real quick with Boise though, we didn't mention it, ranked again Second week in a row, but they dropped a spot to twenty three. Twenty-three is because they're biased against real programs that get it out the mud, like the Broncos. That's what I'm saying. So they're gonna punish them for a gritty, hard fought win against a very scrappy Utah State team. But Boise holds it down at that one spot, one four in a row as long with Fresno. So they are the leaders. But it's not that lonely at the top. Oregon State is banging on the door. Three and two now, one three in a row, one and in conference. San Diego State is the last team to get that first winning conference play. Only team with a positive conference record with a losing record two and three overall, one and And then Colorado State is at the fifth spot. Two and three. Lost three in a row. Basically swapped with Oregon State. They're and one and one in conference play. Then Texas State they were on the winning streak. That got halted. O and one, two and three overall. Utah State not last. Second to last. One and four. O and one and it at the very bottom is Wazoo. Lost their last two games, including their first conference game, O and one, one and four overall. So the top and the bottom are very similar and everything in the middle is kinda ugly, but just as we predicted. Yeah, there's I I don't I wouldn't really change must about much about this. Obviously the the standings are what they are. As far as like the rankings would go, the only thing I would switch is probably Fresno State and Oregon State, but You have I think it's right where it's supposed to be. No, I would have Oregon State above Fresno State. Yeah, at two. And then Fresno at three. I'd probably bump Colorado State down. no. I'd say after the top three. It's just it's just questionable. You can really just kind of put it in any order. I really don't think Texas State, Colorado State, San Diego State, Utah State, Washington State. I don't think any of them are better than each other right now. Yeah, that's fair to say, man. Fair to say who's gonna get who in 60 minutes on Saturday. That's that's very true, Ken. That's a beautiful thing in football. It a beautiful thing. That's why it's why we college football. It's a beautiful thing until it happens to you at one in the morning. And you gotta be at work in three hours. I said it on my personal X account. I am officially a victim of Pac twelve after dark and it sucks. It's shout out the random Oregon State fan that's good to be back. It's good to be back though. I'm glad I'm involved in this now. Bang. I've got stock. Pac twelve's got a good fan base too, man. They're a lot of fun. They're just happy. They're really just happy to be here and When you get good football on top of that is like, man, you just gain so much good things there. I I will say that like football fans is a whole and this is any fan base, like pretty toxic online. Yeah, just pretty toxic online like you were saying. But I think we can kind of go over to next week now we could look ahead to week six. my god. Like you said, King we're basically halfway done. Boo. So now we're gonna want more football. We do want more football. Week six now, Texas State and Colorado State have the week off. They'll play on Thursday after that. But our first game of the slate is Wazoo taking on Utah State. At the moment, Utah State is the favorite. This game will be on CW Friday, eight PM. How are we feeling about this one? This is the Battle of Ass That's actually funny 'cause I literally said what like not that long ago early in the episode, I was ready for this game 'cause It's gonna be interesting. and it's pride and it's we will be seated on a Friday night. That's perfect because if I'm rem I don't have anything to do Friday night. Let's freaking go, dude. I'm gonna be seated for Caden Pinnick and Grady Brosserhouse. Can't believe I'm gonna be seated for Grady Brosserhouse for the first time this year. So who we picking then? okay, Utah State's favored. Minus four at home at Maverick Stadium in Logan. I'm actually curious to what Wazoo's record is on the road this year. Not that it really matters because they suck, but I I don't know. I just kinda want to start looking into more stuff like that. Wasn't their only win against The only one was at home against Dukeen. Dukeen. So Owen. So has it been on the road twice. Owen too, yeah. yikes. Interesting. was this is a weird one for me, honestly. I really think you can't go wrong picking either team. Who do you think sucks less? Okay, the thing about it is is that Waz Wazoo's defense could just easily just win them this game. If like Brady Grady Rosserhaus just throws a pick. That was kind of what I was thinking too. Like I think Caden Pennett can like that as well. I think Caden Pennett can scrounge together 16 points to get them like a very good thing. Okay, if we're being so for real, Grady Rosserhouse is like a Jaden Mandal or a Jade Dennigall. He's like, Coach, I'll give you sixteen, eighteen, whatever. I think Caden Pennett can give you more than that. But the offense is so freaking bad they can't They can't give you And Utah State's offense looks a little better. Like over at least just over the past week. Javin Jacobs did look really good. He could I just I just d wanna see man, is Utah State low key getting like a mid tier team ish? They're kinda getting they're showing flashbacks. I think so, man. I think they I think they're starting to figure it out. 'Cause like Eli Wood looks solid. Jamon Jacobs looks solid. Even Gregory Broadschild doesn't look like the worst quarterback in the world anymore. And it's like that Wazoo defense is just like they're just so good for no not good. But they're so like above average for no reason that it's like they can keep them in these games. So I'm interested to see how like a mid offense and a mid defense, like how does that work? Stoppable force meets a moveable object. I'll I'll go ahead and I'll go ahead and plant my flag then, and just be the first to do it. I'll pick Utah State. I was gonna go with Wazoo. again, I I I said all the reasons I think I think Kane Pennant could just edge out a little bit more points, but it would be It would be wrong of me to to bet against Grady Brassraus now. So we ride we ride till the sink the ship sinks. I think I'm gonna go Utah State as well, just 'cause I'm tired of having stock in Washington State when I pick them every week and then I have to be so glued to like see if they win. And as long as Kirby Moore's not calling the plays, I think I'm kinda just totally out on them too. Yeah. yeah, I think their offense not even Caden Pennick, I think the offensive line in the run game and they just so bad that I think Utah State's defense is good enough. But I do I do like the angle that this Washington State defense can force some turnovers and win the game that way. But I'm not gonna bank on that defense to win the game. I'm not. I think I'll also follow suit. I kinda like Javen Jenkins look really good. I I wouldn't be surprised if he just went off. They're getting better every week. They really are. I think this is probably the one to not turn around the season. But you know, give a little bit. No, I think this does. First pack twelve win definitely gets a can definitely get like the monkey off your back a little bit and definitely like kinda pave the way of the rest of the season. Because there's no expectation for them to win now. You know, it's just let's at least get to six wins so we can go to a bowl game. I'm just more on the fact that like if they beat Wazios, like it doesn't get any easier than that. It's like you you're not gonna you're probably not gonna be anyone else. But but we talked about them last week being a team that like could probably shake shake things up and get like a a steal win over maybe like Texas State State I even still to win anymore against them. Listen, I I I know I'm I'm big on the Bulldogs, but like that's that's a team that that I would be fearful of an upset for. But like you can't take the Aggies lightly when they come in. First Pac-Twelve game in Logan for football. I think that place will be rockin'. They show up and they're going be That's a good fan base too, man. They do show up. Give me the Aggies as well, then. Sweep. Sweep there. And then the next game. Five o'clock Saturday of the USA Network, Big Gatter and Ryan Leaf will be on this one. They've been excited to go to Corvallis and they're gonna go to go watch the Beaves take on the Aztecs. Not seeing a spread at the moment, but I'm sure Oregon State is favored. And this is actually the highest over under, and you know it had a thousand percent just has to do with the Oregon State. It's fifty five and a half. They're gonna do that themselves. Yeah, they're gonna get fifty two of those points just by themselves. So I guess I'm kind of stuff. Yeah, we have to really even say it? Like, yeah, it's it's it's Oregon State. And I think for all the obvious reasons, I know San Diego State just played a terrific if you want to call it a miracle win against Texas State. With I will say I'll say that just because with all the people they had out and like the the crazy circumstance with the mumps this week. Like it impressive. It was sir, maybe maybe not a miracle impressive I'll say that. that's not gonna carry over again this this offense is not going to let you crack. Like And that and the defense is still good enough that like Jaden Men Jaden Denegal, yeah, he's not gonna he's not gonna do anything. So dude, he still sucks. Give me the Beaves. Do you Yeah, yeah, no questions. Give me the Beaves and Beaves sweep. Another two more touchdowns for Jesse Legree. Go ahead and give me that as well. Yeah. I think he'll be leading the nation in receiving touchdowns after this week. I don't really care who Ohio State plays. Barring. So the Beaves sweep over there in the last game of the slate. Only three games this week, unfortunately. Boise State, number twenty three in the nation, will be going heading into Fresno to take on the Bulldogs. This is also on the CW at nine thirty Central. Pack twelve after dark man. What do you think the spread is? Four and a half boys. I think Boise two and a half. Dang. I thought y'all were gonna think it was bigger. It's six and a half. In favor of Boise, of course. Yeah. I thought y'all were gonna think it wasn't expected to be bigger. I mean, I just know that I just know I'm pr I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure like Boise hasn't beaten Fresno. Yes. That's why I thought like they're probably gonna lean into number one versus number two in the Pac twelve too. And listen, like Fresno State statistically does have the best defense in the conference. Like that's that's not even like that's not even my my favoritism towards them. They are the best defense in the conference. So and Matt Ents, what a time to prove that you're a really good coach then now against Spencer Danielson and a ranked Boise State squad coming into Fresno facing the red wave. Okay. You know what, just to kinda to kinda mix things up a little bit this week so we're not all sweeping, I'll go with the Bulldogs. Of course you're going to. Talked me into it. I know. You said I wasn't going to and I did. Yeah, let's just you know, let's yeah. I I I think I'm I'm gonna r I I said it with with Utah State, I'm gonna ride this ship until it sinks, so and Fresno State has done nothing but give me s make me smile this year, especially with Michigan and Texas State both sucking ass, so Go Bulldogs. I'm really curious as to if Sarah Gaines is gonna play 'cause that's like some information I want to know. That's why I hate Danielson said he should be back. That's the one thing I hate about doing this on Sunday nights because there's some stuff that comes out Thursday that we didn't know about, like the freaking mumps. Can't consider doing a second episode if we don't have a hundred subscribers on everything. So if you're watching on YouTube and you're not subscribed, stop what you're doing right now and subscribe. Give me the Bulldogs. Come on, man. Come on, man. You They have never lost to Boise, bro. I I'm sorry, bro. You mad that I'm picking Fresno. Yeah, I'm a little I'm a I'm a little piss at you right now. I'm kidding. That's I w I'm shocked. I'm I'm very shocked. I thought you were joking with me at first. No You're serious? No, yeah, like I'm not nah, I'm not taking that back. Give me give me some reasons why. Good, Kane. they've never lost to Boise. They've got him at home. It's a night game. I think they're gonna show up in Fresno. and Boise's gotta lose at some point. And I don't know that I think Fresno is gonna win the Pac twelve championship. But even though we all technically did pick them to win, which that's working out better for us than some people might have thought FYI. People were pretty thought we were people shocked by that. People thought we were a little tarded, all right. They're four and one right now. they got a good win against Wazoo, and I just like Jaden Mandal's lack of mistakes. And I it's gonna be so good to watch. Him and Maddox Madsen play, those guys don't make a lot of mistakes. Welcome to the bandwagon, man. I'm not on the bandwagon. I'm just I don't think I picked against Boise once besides the organ game. So Yeah. I don't know. I I was really thinking just to pick Boise 'cause I do feel like this could be the one time they do beat Fresno. But I also I don't know, I just like to have a wild card pick and this is gonna be it. I'm tired of making Wazoo my wild card pick 'cause they disappoint me every fucking time. So I'm just gonna go with Fresno and just be seated Saturday at nine thirty Central and just watch cinema. And we will all be seated Saturday night when we watch Fresno take down Boise in Fresno at nine thirty. I'm sorry. You said you wanted to pick Fresno to avoid the sweep. I had already had my mind made up before you had said that. I like this matchup a lot. I think Jaden Mandel's gonna piece up that secondary a lot. I didn't know he was gonna do that. I genuinely. I thought Josiah Freeman couldn't have a field day. I think that Boise gonna get hit in the mouth and I think Fresno's gonna take this one down, man. I I had the Bulldogs locked in the moment I saw this matchup. This is good for the program because people are gonna see this pit graphic come out on like Tuesday or Wednesday. Already are not in good standing with Boise fans with our preview. Like we we fucked them. Fuck No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no. No, we don't take that. People are gonna literally think like we're just straight idiots and when we're probably all wrong come this time next week. Yeah, Breast said to avoid Are you gonna change your mind right now just to avoid the sweet? Don't do that. No, but no, I he just I'm sick with my guns because this is like I I I think he's genuine he's genuinely sick that we all went. No, that was like not on his cards. That was super impulsive of me to do. I just did it. It made me sick. Yeah, like you said, so it just made me sick to my stomach. So I mean I really could flip my wazoo pick. And go for them, but you know, I think we'll just go with three sweeps this week. Three sweeps this week and so kinda like yeah, we either we riding or die with each other this week, so that'll be funny as hell. All three are on. Do you want to just say our guest picker and Yeah, and our guest picker for this week, US U the Right Blue. Shout out Dan on Twitter. Not sure if he has an Instagram, but that is his handle on X slash Twitter. USU the Right Blue. Thank you so much for Hopping on the show with us and providing your guest picks. I'll just say this, since it's it we we asked him to come on very last second. I won't be able to say his picks now 'cause we don't have it will be on the graphic. So he'll he'll still be featured on the graphic. We still want to plug his the whole point is like we wanna still plug the social, plug these fan accounts who are still like small people helping spread who are helping contribute to, you know, the the success of the show and are helping spread it out to their fan base as well. So He he will have his picks to us tonight. We'll have a graph we'll have the graphic out for you with his picks. So that'll be a nice surprise for you when you see that, hopefully like Wednesday, Thursday. But yeah, just be on the lookout. Again, shout out to him, USU the USU, the right blue, Dan, very nice. He asked us to come on his Utah State podcast as well. So I mean after this game it'd be after this Wild Zoo game, it'd be I th I'd more than happy to I I told him we'd be more than happy to and he he wants all three of us, so he so we're not just gonna we're not just gonna choose one soldier to fight the fight. So we're we're gonna all go on and and and face the Utah State fan basically. He's gonna hit you with dude, that kid sucks. He's gonna hit you with no one wants him starting. What the heck? I do wanna say like just 'cause like the community picks are always just so interesting to see, one thing I did notice the last video, every a lot of a lot of San I don't know if they were fans, but a lot of San Diego comments were like, I don't know, this team is desperate. They're one and three. They're home. This is like this is a game where they could possibly knock off Tech State. And I was reading them like that's low key not the worst thing in the world. I thought it was still kind of far fetched, but that's exactly what happened. So I just don't know why I keep believing in G J Kenney when I don't have to. It's 'cause you go to school here. I guess. But like every we do this every time where it's like when they started Owen Two, we I I mean, yeah, I had some things to say about that, but I also did talk about how respectfully how big of a bonehead he is, like sometimes them plays he like this like the stuff he calls and like the decisions he makes, but like again, we just saw it again. Like it's like we're just on this weird pendulum with him, man, and I just like I can't quit him. Like it's really bad. And it it doesn't help that when you see guys like Jamarcus Shepherd come in like in their first year in this program and just like immediately just like like Caden said, like I wish he was coaching that at my school. That's what you want. You want like guys like Jim Moore Even like Jim Moore, he's not like a crazy media guy, but you immediately just see like that's a coach. That's a head coach. He gives me like Nick Saban like seriousness about football vibes as well. But but I will say though, like even despite like having a coordinator quit mid game, giving up fifty plus. No, he got fired. He didn't quit, he got fired. Either way, he still handles press I think a lot better. And that's not saying anything bad about the way Keeney handles press. I think he does very well. I just think Jim Moore like has just like like you said solo, he just is a coach and he just has that head on his shoulders and I think he's just you know I will say he'd be a more fun guy to have around. Shout out to me. I'm like the only person I know that's ever gotten G J Kinney to tear up in a press conference. Not by asking him a question. I've done that by the way. What was the question? What? Yeah. It's just about a donor, basically. That makes no sense, but there's context behind it. wow. actually really interesting. Yeah. You got you got the robots a crack. Yeah, I did. feelings. We're no, we're here for it, man. I I'm gonna be here with you every week talking baseball. That that sport hooked me. I'm like still kind of an O B casual ish, like a super duper casual. But college baseball, that was electric. I I I can get into college baseball if I have a team to watch and is I Texas State's gonna be pretty good too. I just think it the greatest thing ever. Like on a sun there's some random day in summer. I turned it on, it's like, dude, this double elimination games. It's like I thought it was the greatest thing ever. To be honest with you, if it wasn't for the World Cup, I maybe would have got more into it, but the World Cup. Well, it it was like it like segued kinda into the World Cup. It did. I just I think I was so burnt out at the time and like not wanting to watch sports. It's because it was finals we were like, Bro, you wanna kill I remember your your beard was graying.
