- 1:45we'll be joined by Stephanie Katarina Whisman from the American Petroleum Institute. She is
- 1:48in Charleston today. We're gonna kind of get to take on some things going
- 1:51on in the enmy energy industry, not only in West Virginia, button around
- 1:55the country as well. And Chris Walters, who is a form legislator of
- 1:59course, he's also a candidate for Kanaw County Commission. It'll be stopping by
- 2:01a little bit later on as well. I want to get into some things
- 2:04going on if a legislature later on in the show. And I didn't get
- 2:07a chance yesterday because we had all these mayors in here and I, by
- 2:09the way, thank you so much to all those mayors that we had from
- 2:13all around the state yesterday and Travis Blosser from the Municipal League. I didn't

- 2:32the show, they want to turn things over to Jeff Jenkins in the news
- 2:35room. There were some areas Jeff, as we say in the business normal
- 2:38low lying areas and had some high water issues. Well you know, the
- 2:42good thing is it stopped raining, but it rained really hard, as folks
- 2:45know here in Kanaugh County and we set a one day record for that day.
- 2:52So like you know for February twelfth, there was a one day record
- 2:55for rainfall here in Kanak County. Yeah, so it rained really hard.
- 3:00And if you look at, you know, overnight in the notifications that came
- 3:05into Knaw County Metro nine one one, it's just like every stream that you
- 3:09could almost think of. It wasn't every stream, but it was a lot
- 3:13of the streams that might be familiar to people were high and they got into
- 3:16the road. And so you had your traditional areas like the underpass at DuPont,
- 3:22at the DuPont Plant, DuPont Plant. I mean, you know that
- 3:23floods when you get some of this. So you had that Witcher Creek got
- 3:28some water up in the road, Lynch Creek got some water up in the
- 3:30road. You had parts of Green Brier up in the upper into Green Briar
- 3:36Street. Also had some backwater flooding at Rock Creek there not far off of
- 3:40the Nitro exit. Hurricane got some backwater flooding in some of those areas.
- 3:46So you know, there's definitely some flooding. But the good thing was is
- 3:52that it quit raining. No, we don't have any word of anything getting
- 3:58in the homes or anything like that. Be some basements, it got shirt
- 4:00water, and there's some trees down. There's a mud slade on quarter Gee.
- 4:05Power outage just say some power outages too, but not of the major
- 4:09variety. And the sun's out now. And yeah, what'll be a Sunday
- 4:12day. Yeah, what we're gonna do with today is a windy is gonna
- 4:14be kind of windy, but the rain is gone and so this will this
- 4:17will go down pretty quickly, all right, Jeff, I appreciate it,
- 4:20man, thanks a lot. It is eleven minutes after nin have a day
- 4:24aland show and five Adieline brought to you apart by your hometown baseball team.

- 4:44for all Kids Club members. Stephanie Katerino Wizman. It's from the American Patrol.
- 4:49You missed Toute and she is in Charleston today and she joins U.
- 4:53Stephanie, Good morning, welcome to the show. Good morning, Dave,
- 4:55thanks so much for having me. Thank you for being here. First of
- 4:58all, what is the American Patrol you institute, what do you do there?
- 5:00Absolutely so. API is the only national trade organization that represents all segments
- 5:05of America's natural gas and oil industry. So that's the producers, that's the
- 5:11pipeline folks, whether it's pipeline, rail, barge to get that product to
- 5:15where it needs to go, to the refining segment to service and supply companies
- 5:19as well as petrochemical complexes that you see cropping up around the country as well.
- 5:24So we represent around six hundred members and we were founded over one hundred
- 5:28years ago, our national trade organization, and we were actually founded as a
- 5:31standard setting organization to the industry, and we maintain eight hundred industry standards and
- 5:38recommended practices by which the industry follows. And you're at West Virginia and Charles
- 5:42new you today. For Yes, I'm here making the rounds visiting with various
- 5:46legislators and have a few media opportunities here to talk about the importance of West
- 5:51Virginia's natural gas and oil industry. And along those lines, there's a lot
- 5:57of things Stephanie making the news in the world of energy lately. I want
- 6:00to talk about gas for a moment. The Biden administration has run a file
- 6:04of many of those in the natural gas industry as of late. Imagine that
- 6:08what is the latest thing that you're taking a look at with your group.
- 6:10Yes, well, there are there are many as you as you referenced,
- 6:14but I think right now top of mind would be the Biden Administration's pause un
- 6:18liquefied natural gas export terminal approvals permits extremely problematic as the US is seen as
- 6:27the country that not only produces so much natural gas that we can take care
- 6:30of our domestic needs, but also to help our allies abroad so they don't
- 6:34have to be beholden to those unstable regions of the world for their energy needs.
- 6:40So what the Biden administration has said is that they are taking a pause,
- 6:44that's the word they're using on any new or future if you will,
- 6:48or pending applications for LNG export terminals to be built in this country. And
- 6:55I do have an interesting factoid in that area, just to show you how
- 6:58big this really is. There are four pending applications right now the Department of
- 7:02Energy. If those four are approved, it would be enough natural gas to
- 7:08power the entire country of India for one year for their energy needs. So,
- 7:13and this is something that West Virginia leaders have really caught onto and have
- 7:16been extremely critical of the President in his move to restrict energy export terminals being
- 7:23built in this country. And to cite a couple of examples, West Virginia
- 7:27was one of twenty two states that signed a letter urging the Biden administration to
- 7:30reverse course and reverse this decision on this pause on LG exports. Senate President
- 7:35Craig Blair last week had a press conference on the issue and he stood there
- 7:41under his leadership with twenty of his colleagues right there outside the Senate chambers to
- 7:46urge the Biden administration to reverse course on this because it will have a detrimental
- 7:49impact on West Virginia. So you take a look at those things. And
- 7:54also US Senator Manchion I cannot forget him as well, he is extremely critical
- 7:58of this policy change. Had a hearing last week with the Senate Committee pushing
- 8:03back and bringing in the experts to say, please tell us by an administration,
- 8:07why this is a good idea. What is the reason Stephanie that they
- 8:11give for the pause. Yes, well, they say that they need to
- 8:15take a look at the climate impacts of liquified natural gas. Well, right
- 8:18there, I have an argument with that, because it's because of natural gas
- 8:22that we've been able to reduce our carbon emissions footprint here in the country to
- 8:26the lowest level in two decades. We are leading the world in carbon emissions
- 8:30reductions, So that does not carry any weight. But this is the most
- 8:35frustrating part of this, and the President has acknowledged this himself in social media
- 8:39that he listened to an environmental activist influencer, social media influencer on this issue.
- 8:46They asked, they implored the president to do this pause, and he
- 8:50listened to somebody has no scientific background at all in this area, only because
- 8:56it's purely political. Because he feels, the president feel that he is losing
- 9:01that age segment, the young segment support with the upcoming elections. So he
- 9:05listened to a social media influence. Does somebody explain to him what social media
- 9:11was good question. Good question. Stephanie Gatarino Wismond for the American Patrolly Institute
- 9:16is here. Your group recently released something called the State of Energy Report.
- 9:20What was the report and what were the findings? Yes, that was our
- 9:22State of American Energy Report. Our president and CEO Mike Summers, every year
- 9:26in January gives a state of the State, if you will, on the
- 9:30energy industry in the country and focusing of course on natural gas and oil.
- 9:35And while we are the number one producer of energy in the entire world,
- 9:39which is an enviable position to be in, we are as we just talked
- 9:43about one of several issues that the Biden administration is pushing back on major headwinds
- 9:48that's really putting our energy future at risk. So the message was, yes,
- 9:54we are in a great position today. However, we need to change
- 9:58course, and policy makers need to push on the administration and change course and
- 10:01focus on three core pillars on how we can reverse this change. And we
- 10:05need a long term energy strategy, which to include permitting reform. We need
- 10:09permitting reform desperately to get energy infrastructure permitted in a timely fashion. Energy security,
- 10:16like I've talked about, you know, we are energy secure in this
- 10:20country. We want to share that with the world so they don't have to
- 10:22be beholden too unstable regions of the world. And access. We need more
- 10:26access to development of natural gas and oil, and this administration has pushed back
- 10:31on that. This administration has shut off areas of the country saying no,
- 10:35no, with no real justification that we cannot develop these areas. Our industry
- 10:41develops these safely and responsibly, and so we are putting our energy future at
- 10:46risk with these bad policies that are coming down. So those are the three
- 10:50issues that we need to focus on to get back on track nine to eighteen.
- 10:54But eight Alan show and five eight line broad to a part by a
- 10:56General Hardware and number of wind Field comes through the New Tractors showroom one were
- 11:01yarded more that deliver service and quality right to your door. Don't buy it
- 11:03till you get a quote from General Hardware and number of Windfield seventy. What
- 11:07is the biggest conception in your opinion about the energy industry as a whole in
- 11:11America? You mentioned the carbon emissions. We're at our lowest car carbon emission
- 11:16rate and I think you said two decades. What are some of the other
- 11:18misconceptions about the energy policies or the energy industry I should say in America today.
- 11:24Yeah, I mean the fact of the matter is, I mean,
- 11:26we are very capital intensive industry, and we put in billions and billions of
- 11:31dollars into new technologies and innovations, and we are making our product cleaner,
- 11:37the clean It just produced the cleanest as anywhere in the world. So I
- 11:41say that's a misconception to say that, you know, this is a dirty
- 11:43fossil fuel industry. Absolutely not. I mean, we lead the way in
- 11:46technological advancements, and we have reduced our environmental footprint, as I've said,
- 11:50so, really, the United States is a leader in reducing carbon emissions and
- 11:56people should take notice to that, and we should you scream that from the
- 11:58rooftops. That's not something we should be ashamed of. That is a good
- 12:01thing. And our industry is very mindful and wants to reduce our environmental footprint
- 12:07and is doing so. I mean that it's critical, it's the right thing
- 12:09to do, and it's good business. So you take a look at that.
- 12:11Also, I think some people don't realize that our modern way of life
- 12:16is really contingent upon a healthy natural gas and oil industry. And what I
- 12:20mean by that is the derivatives of oil and natural gas that go to all
- 12:24the electronics that I see in this room right here make it possible, whether
- 12:28it's you know, pharmaceuticals, the eyeglasses you wear, the clothes you wear,
- 12:31the cars you drive, even with renewable energies, you know, those
- 12:33those blades on wind turbines and those panels on the solar panels are all made
- 12:37possible because of the derivatives of oil and natural gas. So without if you
- 12:41cut out our industry, you are looking at, you know, sacrificing your
- 12:46modern way of life that we've enjoyed now for decades upon decades. Where can
- 12:50people learn more, Stephanie, about to your organization in the America Patrollingmissitude or
- 12:54some of the work you're doing. You have a websiting throughout there for its
- 12:56true www dot a PI dot org. You can learn about all of the
- 13:01issues that are before us right now. And Dave, if we do have
- 13:05time, one thing I did want to do another shout out to Senate President
- 13:07Craig Blair. In addition to the press conference he did last week on LNG,
- 13:11he also spearheaded a move to pass a concurrent resolution back in January that
- 13:16we'll go to the federal government saying, hey, this is important, Congress.
- 13:20You need to pass permitting reform for energy infrastructure as soon as possible.
- 13:24And again, that's forward thinking, that is leadership, and quite frankly,
- 13:28Washington, DC could take some lessons from West Virginia on how we feel about
- 13:33natural gas and oil and what it plays in our energy future. All right,
- 13:35well, appreciate you stopping by. I tho you're very, very busy,
- 13:39said, you got a big day here in Charleston today and you're out

- 16:44you have with you today. I have my daughter. I have Aubrey with
- 16:47me today. Her school's on a two hour delay, and my wife volunteering
- 16:51at my son's school. So she gets to come with me and we're dropping
- 16:53in here before I take her to Jay. All Right, how are you,
- 16:56Aubrey? I'm good and go ahead. You and you go to what
- 17:00school I go to? J? Okay John Adams? Yes, okay,
- 17:03I just started there. Okay, transferred in like November. Okay, all
- 17:07right, So what grade are you? I'm in eighth grade? Okay?
- 17:11What's your favorite subject? I kind of like I like math a lot because
- 17:18really the math I'm learning about is like I know a lot of it,
- 17:23So I have pretty good grades in there. Okay. All right, Well,
- 17:26well we wish you the best in your in your academic career. What
- 17:30do you want to be when you grow up? I want to learn about
- 17:33animals a lot, and like learn about animal biology and see if I can
- 17:37work in the field that involves that. I like her, Chris, She's
- 17:40a lot better than me. Well let me just say that. When she
- 17:44had me with animals, that's what you see. I don't really like people
- 17:47that much, but I love animals. I mean, they can't talk crap
- 17:49about you. I like it. I like her, Chris. You can
- 17:52leave. Uh, so you're running for You're running for Reckinon County Commission.
- 17:57Now you announced several months ago, came on the show and talked about that.
- 18:00But why are you running for Knaw County Commission? Absolutely? I mean,
- 18:03as you all can see, I live here. I raised my family
- 18:06here, I own my small business here. I grew up in Kanall County,
- 18:10and over the time that I've been in Kanall County, I've seen population
- 18:14leave, businesses close, The mall is a shell of what it once was,
- 18:18and I feel like there's a lot more we can do to bring this
- 18:19back to turn Kanall County around, and I have the passion and the energy
- 18:23to do so for our citizens and give us your background. Yeah, absolutely,
- 18:27Well, as I said, born and raised here in Cross Lanes,
- 18:30actually went to school at West Virginia University. I was fortunate enough to serve
- 18:37in the Senate from twenty twelve to twenty sixteen representing this area. And you
- 18:41got to do a lot for West Virginia. Whyles in the Senate focused on
- 18:45broadband? The reason why we have companies like Cast Cable coming in here to
- 18:49compete is because of opening the door to allow that to happen. While I
- 18:52was in the Senate focused a lot on taking care of our citizens, with
- 18:57bringing uber to West Virginia against drunk driving. I opened up an insurance industry.
- 19:03I owned my own agency, employ people right here on Capitol Street.
- 19:07I bought the old Ernie's Esquire building, which had been vacant since nineteen ninety
- 19:11seven, completely redid the building and reshaped that area of downtown Capitol Street.
- 19:17So I've invested here, grow my family here, my business is here.
- 19:21I just want to keep on working for Kannall County. What do you you
- 19:23kind of touch on this a little bit, Chris, some of the biggest
- 19:26needs of Knaw County that you want to get accomplished as as County Commissary.
- 19:30You talked about population loss and things of that nature, But what are some
- 19:33other things? Infrastructure is always a big one, But what are some of
- 19:37the things that you want to work at? If I like, then you
- 19:38know we need to work together in Knall County. Whenever I was in the
- 19:44Senate, I saw the Route sixty committee where the mayors of PoCA, Bancroft,
- 19:48and Buffalo and all those areas got together once a month, shared equipment
- 19:52and worked together. We don't do that in Kannall County. We don't have
- 19:55it where the mayors come together, share equipment, make sure they have what
- 19:59they need so we don't have to stretch our budgets to try to own something
- 20:03of our own. You know, we have so many vacant dilapidated houses.
- 20:07I met with the mayor of Dunbar. He does something fascinating. He takes
- 20:11one hundred grand every year, goes to the tax lien cell and buys vacant
- 20:15properties on tax liens in Dunbar. He's tore down over forty five houses in
- 20:19Dunbar in his time there. That is a great way that we can acquire
- 20:23these vacant dilapidated houses and then tear them down to get rid of that.
- 20:27And when we get rid of that, we get rid of the homeless coming
- 20:30in there, We get rid of house fires, we get rid of a
- 20:33lot of the drug problem. We really fight the issue right at its heart
- 20:37and it improves the values of people's homes in their neighborhood. Talking to Chris
- 20:41Walters again Republican Canada for Canawah County Commission at a valanchow on five eighty line
- 20:44brought to part by Morgan and Morgan if you're injured, hired Morgan to Morgan,
- 20:48America's largest injury law firm. You know, Christakhala Valley has seen a
- 20:51lot of positive things happen over the last few years, and there are a
- 20:53lot of challenges here. We've touched on some of those already. What are
- 20:56some of the more positive things that you talked about this situation that's going on
- 21:00in Donebar with what the mayor is doing there, But what are some other
- 21:03of the more positive things that you'd like to continue. Yeah, I want
- 21:07to continue seeing broadband come in through the area of giving our businesses a chance
- 21:11to compete. You know, we've seen local taxes increase on businesses, but
- 21:15we haven't seen businesses get the help they need. I don't know if you
- 21:18know this, Dave, but it is incredibly tough to get a loan as
- 21:22a small business these days. It's incredibly tough to get money to grow your
- 21:26ideas. And I think the County Commission should be looking at that and helping
- 21:30with that. I think that we should be assisting business owners in our city
- 21:34any way we can. I mean, we saw the doors of a business
- 21:37close at the beginning of Capitol Street just recently, and instead of coming to
- 21:41him seeing how we can help to keep his doors open, the city put
- 21:45the stage in a way that no one could go to his business during regatta.
- 21:48I mean, we aren't talking to our business owners and we're kind of
- 21:51shutting them out in a way that that it's not right. And those are
- 21:53the people. The small businesses are the people that create the employment, that
- 21:57drive economic development. And it's time that we, as a county commission and
- 22:02we is the cities that are around Kennall County work with our small businesses even
- 22:06more. As you said in some of your advertising and whatever. You know,
- 22:10you're from here and you've been in public service in one way or another,
- 22:14either through your insurance company or the legislature for some time. What's your
- 22:18campaign strategy? Like you still outdoor knocking doing that sort of thing. Oh
- 22:21yeah, I'm gonna be out knocking doors, going to do that. You
- 22:22know, my campaign is gonna be positive. You know, I've got a
- 22:26TV ad that's coming out. It's a positive TV ad and we even have
- 22:30a warning warning this is a positive ad right before the ad starts, because
- 22:34people don't do that these days. I'm not about tearing someone down to get
- 22:37the seat. If people are gonna elect me, I want them to elect
- 22:41me on what I stand for and what I'm going to do. I don't
- 22:42want them to elect me just because of some negative ad against an opponent.
- 22:47So I really I'm gonna run by that. I'm gonna do the best I
- 22:49can to talk up my ideas and to put a positive message out. And
- 22:53if the people of Canall County see that and feel like they want to support
- 22:56me, I'm blessed to have your support. Speaking of your opponents, we
- 23:02recently had another Republican who filed announced who was running for county commission on the
- 23:04Republican side. We had him on the show, Dwayne Duncan you know and
- 23:07I know you said you don't want to get into negativity and I respect you
- 23:11for that. Neither did he, by the way, But what makes you
- 23:12the better candidate on the Republican side? You know Kennall County, you know
- 23:17me, you know my record, you know what I've done. You know
- 23:19that I've fought for broadband, I've fought for outdoor dining that we have.
- 23:23I brought Sunday Brunch, I did the uber bill that combats drunk driving.
- 23:27If you look at what I've done and what I can do and accomplish,
- 23:32then you'll see that I'm the best candidate for this position. I reformed juvenile
- 23:36justice to where we don't send our children out of homes all the way to
- 23:38Michigan, costing our state hundreds of thousands of dollars per family. I've created
- 23:44more counselors in school to get mental health to our young children where they need
- 23:48it. I try to do all I can to help our citizens in Kenall
- 23:52County, and if elected, I want to continue to do that. On
- 23:56the Democratic ticket. We know former Secretary of State Natalie Tennant has announced that
- 23:59she'll be running for commission but current commission Commissioner or former President Kent Carper surprised
- 24:04a lot of people, Chris by announcing he was running for re election.
- 24:07Were you surprised by that announcement. I didn't know what Commissioner Carpenter was going
- 24:11to do, and it's for him to make that decision, and it's for
- 24:15the voters socide how they're going to vote whenever it comes time for it,
- 24:18in May for the primary and then in the general November. A lot's been
- 24:22said and lots have been discussed on this show in other places. I know
- 24:23the current County Commission seems to be all on board with this capital Sports Center
- 24:27complex. Where are you on that? You know? I think you know
- 24:32tourism whenever it comes to athletics is amazing. I question where we were when
- 24:38this was announced. Did we have a deal together with a bondholder? As
- 24:41my understanding was, we didn't. I'm not for eminent domain to take property
- 24:45from bondholders to be able to do this. I do want to see a
- 24:49sports complex. I think that an Olympic sized swimming pool would be amazing for
- 24:53this area, something we don't have. Swimming is a huge sport, just
- 24:56like soccer. To bring that tourism here, fill our hotels and help our
- 25:00mall. So there's positives to the sports facility. I'd love to see it
- 25:06get accomplished. I just want to make sure we're doing it in the right
- 25:07way and then we're not going crazy over budget on it either. We're talking
- 25:11about a lot of money and it's a big risk. I think it has
- 25:15a big reward. You have to take chances like that, but we also
- 25:18have to do it in as much of an economic way as possible. Where
- 25:22can people learn more about your campaign? Absolutely on my Facebook page. It
- 25:26just searched Chris Walters, you'll find me. That's where I'm doing everything off
- 25:30of and you can learn more about me what I'm doing, the meetings I'm
- 25:33out hosting, and I think you'll see a lot more coming up. I
- 25:37just put a video up talking about my plans for Saint Albans community, about
- 25:41how to increase housing values and how to get a road from the interstate to
- 25:45Saint Albans to connect that community like never before. And I want to close
- 25:48with this because there's a lot you know, Kana County is a big county.
- 25:52You know you're from here. You know this biggest in the state land
- 25:56wise, and the needs of what's going on on Cabin Creek aren't necessarily the
- 26:02needs and wants of Saint Albans. And I'll mention that because you did.
- 26:07How is a county commissioner that is covering that big of an area. How
- 26:10do you make sure no one it feels neglected? Absolutely Well, there's three
- 26:14of us, so it's kind of a situation where we need to work together
- 26:17to make sure that we have an expertise and an intelligent about all the areas
- 26:21of Kennall County, even from you know Clinton and doesn't have a building commissioner.
- 26:25They're having problems tearing down vacant houses because them is a city don't have
- 26:29the funds to be able to hire that type of person. We need to
- 26:32understand what's going on in these individual communities and find out how to help them.
- 26:36I'm going to take the time to meet with the mayors, to meet
- 26:37with the citizens, to have town halls, to go out and hear from
- 26:41the people. My ideas come from you. My great ideas come from people
- 26:45reaching out to me, telling me their thoughts and us working together to create
- 26:48a plan. And I really encourage people to reach out to me with the
- 26:52ideas they have because I'm one person. I can't be everywhere, but you
- 26:56guys are in the community and I really rely on your help to be able
- 27:00to get the needs out to the people that need them. Would you be
- 27:03open to and maybe these things are being planned I'm not aware of it to
- 27:07a forum of sorts. I don't want to call it a debate, but
- 27:11an opportunity for maybe the different candidates for county commission to get together to discuss
- 27:15ideas, maybe a debate, maybe take questions from the hones. But is
- 27:18that something that you'd be open to. I think anytime that we can get
- 27:21people together to be able to have discussions so the citizens can be more deformed,
- 27:25is a fantastic thing. So I'm available, happy to do it,
- 27:29happy to have the conversation. I think it's just I think it's the best
- 27:33thing we can do to get, you know, transparency. Whenever it comes
- 27:36to this election, final thirty, watching someone vote for Chris Walters for Cannot
- 27:40County Commission. You guys know me, You know Chris Walters. You know
- 27:42what I've done. You know you can see it. You know, there's
- 27:45few people that have been elected to the Senate, to the House that can
- 27:49point to things that we're accomplished. The outdoor Dining Bill allowing all of our
- 27:52restaurants to put the sidewalk dining out there. That wasn't allowed to happen till
- 27:57I opened that up with the ABC for Charleston and other areas throughout the county,
- 28:02bringing Uber to the state to combat drunk driving, to be able to
- 28:04give people a safe way to get home where they can see on an app
- 28:08where a vehicle's coming, if they have somebody that is in an unsafe situation,
- 28:14they can get to safety. Even more, I've sponsored our police departments
- 28:17in legislature or fire departments. I've been involved with backing them every way I
- 28:22can, because we really need to put trust back into our police force.
- 28:26We really need to put trust back into our communities. And I'm the candidate
- 28:30that's going to do that. I want to bring Aubrey back in here for
- 28:33a moment. Auri why should people vote for your dad? Well? I
- 28:36believe he's a very trustworthy person, and he really does work as hard as
- 28:40he can to provide and to like help out the community. And I honestly
- 28:47believe that he is a great candidate for this election. See you got what
- 28:51way? If she could vote, you got one vote. That's the best
- 28:53endorsement I could ever have. Use that in your commercial. Yeah, all
- 28:57right, so give me something. Let's see. I don't know if I
- 29:00want to go down this road or not, but if you could change one
- 29:03thing about your dad, what would it be? Now, don't get yourself
- 29:07grounded. Okay's beard? Your beard? You don't like the beard I don't
- 29:14really like? Okay, all right, Well, then then you're a house
- 29:18divided. Yes, Aubrey, get back to school. She's on a two
- 29:22hour to La by the way, so so just you know, so you're
- 29:26on your way to school now, right, Yeah? Okay, she sounds
- 29:29like she may try to talk dad out of going to school and not a
- 29:32chance. Not a chance, Aubrey. Nice to meet you, Chris.
- 29:34Always good to see. We'll talk against suid Man. Thanks a lot.

- 33:00rest of the show. By the way is open to you, so,
- 33:04but I do have some text I want to get to Texas. Speaking of
- 33:07the Canawa a County Commissioner's race, I wonder if Natalie reference to their former
- 33:10Secretary State Natalie Tenant will go into the gutter against Carper. She has a
- 33:15real chance to get him out. Heck, I might even switch parties just
- 33:19to vote for her, says a Texter. Did the Texas start? I
- 33:23wish somebody could explain this to me. One day, gas prices are two
- 33:27seventy nine. The next day, next two days, gas prices are at
- 33:30three h nine. Two days later gas prices are at two ninety nine.
- 33:35Then the next day gas prices are a three nineteen. Become American oil production
- 33:38can't give us stable prices, and I'm aware oil is a global commodity.
- 33:45Text says if that sports complex gets built, they need a new parking garage.
- 33:50Besides being grimy and unsettling, the upper level decks have more ways in
- 33:54them than the ocean. Grimy and unsettling, Coop, I have been called
- 33:59that many times myself, Texas. Does anyone know the actual size of an
- 34:06Olympic pool? Many businesses and hotels claim Olympic sized pools, but they all
- 34:10look smaller than what I see you when I watch the actual Olympics. Cooper,
- 34:14you have an assignment, what is the size of an Olympic pool?
- 34:19And actually, Bensolango, current knag aatde Commission, is going to be on
- 34:22the show this Friday, so maybe he's one that's really touting the sports complex.
- 34:25Maybe I'll say, all right, Ben, exactly what is an Olympic
- 34:30sized swimming pool? Coop is working on it as we speak. That's well,
- 34:34he's got an answer. Yeah, I can give that too if you'd
- 34:36like, asually a COO producer job every once in a while. Let's see,
- 34:39it's fifty meters in length, which is about one hundred and sixty four
- 34:44feet. The width is twenty five meters which is about eighty two feet,
- 34:46a depth a minimum of two meters which is about six and a half feet,
- 34:50with a recommended depth of three meters which is almost ten feet. Other
- 34:53specifications. Ten lanes with each lane two point five meters which is just over
- 35:00eight feet in width, with a water capacity of about six hundred and sixty
- 35:04thousand gallons. So I have a feeling that Olympic from a casual standpoint and
- 35:09Olympic from an official standpoint have to be two different things, because that is
- 35:14that is not what you see at hotels, all right, And then you
- 35:16know the really cool thing about Coop is he didn't google that, he just
- 35:20knew that off the top of it was right off the top of my note.
- 35:23That was my AI friend. Ah Coop's all about the AI I forgot.
- 35:28Yeah, AI told him that. So there you go. There's your
- 35:30answer, Texter. Let me get some other things here that to public hearing
- 35:35to discuss the fate of the postal facility at South Ridge is going to be
- 35:37held tomorrow night. Chris Lawrence story posted about a WV metronews dot com.
- 35:42The Union Rep. Tim Holstein quoted in the story as saying the fact that
- 35:46the hearing night was falling on Valentine's Night, he wanted it known in the
- 35:53story and again you can read it on the website that that was not a
- 35:57night that was picked by the Union, he says. Mister Holdstein says the
- 36:01Coddal Seem and Convention Center were available both last night, Monday night, and
- 36:07tonight as well. He says the Postal Service could have chosen either day,
- 36:12but chose to have it on Wednesday night, which is Valentine's night. A
- 36:16lot of people may be going out to dinner, and of course a lot
- 36:19of people go to church and so on, and so forth. But that's
- 36:22the date that they picked, according to the Union rep. And he says
- 36:27he thinks that day was chosen simply because they simply don't want the public there.
- 36:30Now there's going to be a demonstration and an informational gathering this evening at
- 36:35the downtown Charleston Post Office. Dave Allen Show and five Vinta I brought to

- 37:02I'll admit I've never seen a pool of that size in real life, says
- 37:07a texture. All right, So let's go lock up some librarians because they
- 37:12are the true costs causes of evil in America. Today, the Full House
- 37:17in the legislature will consider opening up public and school libraries and their staffs to
- 37:24felony charges for the display or distribution of obscene materials to miners. Now,
- 37:31the sponsor of the bill is Delegate Brandon Steel out of Roleigh County. And
- 37:36he said, and we'll just take bits and pieces of what he said.
- 37:37You can. It's all posted on the website, our website. I hope
- 37:43the chilling effect of this legislation is to remove the sanctuary for pedophilia that exists
- 37:50in our code. Went on to say, if it's a crime in a
- 37:52parking lot, it's a crime in the building. In quote, he also
- 37:58paraphrase announced it no matter what your job is, you do not get to
- 38:00show pornography to minors. Now it's house built forty six to fifty four if
- 38:06you'd like to read it for yourself. As of now, public schools and
- 38:10libraries have exemptions to the law against displaying or disseminating obscene material to miners.
- 38:20And look, you know I've said this before. No one wants kids looking
- 38:24at obscene material, which, by the way, they are looking at and
- 38:28they always have and always will. Only now it's easier for them to do
- 38:34that because it's all free on the internet and with zero age verification needed.
- 38:42It's available on their phones, it's available on their other devices, And if
- 38:45you think your kids aren't looking at it, then you probably are mistaken,
- 38:51especially if you got teenage boys. I just don't know. And look again,
- 38:55let me just state for the record, I do not want kids young
- 39:00people see materials like this either. However, I don't know that jaleen librarians
- 39:07and their staff is the way to go about that. It may be well
- 39:14intended, maybe not. I don't have an issue with it. I just
- 39:16don't know that this is the way to do this. And I don't know
- 39:21a heck of a lot of kids that are going to the library to look
- 39:24at obscene materials when they have a device that parents readily give them when they're
- 39:31like what seven eight years old, They put a phone and a device in
- 39:35their hand that they can literally see anything they want on. I don't think
- 39:37they have to waste their time going to a library when it's available on their
- 39:42phone. So that's and then you get into this whole thing about what is
- 39:47obscenity, you know the old Well, I don't know what obscenity is,
- 39:50but I don't want to see it. Kind of a thing and how far
- 39:52it does it go again. No, I'm not saying I'm necessarily against pulling
- 39:55these things off. I just I just don't know that this is the the
- 40:00right way to do it in my opinion. And speaking of priorities, of
- 40:05bill was moving Friday in the Senate to replace the Robert Bird statue at the
- 40:12Capitol. Senate Bill seven point thirty three lead sponsoringer sponsor that is Asinger out
- 40:16of Wood County, co sponsors Mike Stewart of Canawa County, J Taylor of
- 40:22Taylor County, and Jack Woodrim of Summers County. If it passes, and
- 40:27this was on Friday, and I did not do my due diligence to get
- 40:30an update on it. But if it passes, the Bird statue would come
- 40:35down at the Capitol. Statues of Washington, Lincoln Madison and Governor Arthur Borman
- 40:42would go up in their places. Now again priorities. As someone commented to
- 40:50me on X the artist woman on the Twitter about this, isn't it conservatives
- 40:53that hated removing and erasing history? I guess, I guess not. But
- 41:01it is a form of retribution, I guess. And when you are in
- 41:06power, whether the Democrats or Republicans. You can do a lot of stuff.
- 41:09As silly as it may seem, you can do it anyway. Texas,
- 41:15the debate on HB forty six to fifty four in House Judiciary was fascinating.
- 41:21There's those who want obse material available to children, and there are those
- 41:24who want to protect children from obseeing material. Protecting children will always be on
- 41:28the right side of history. Again, I don't necessarily disagree with that.
- 41:32I'm just saying I just don't know that jailing and making it a felony for
- 41:37the librarians who are just there trying to protect is the way to go about
- 41:40that. That's all I'm saying on this. I'm not for, you know,
- 41:45I'm not for the distribution of adult materials, so to speak. But
- 41:51I just I just don't know that it's the biggest priority that's facing this right
- 41:54now. But that's just me to Dave Alan showing five any librights who barked

- 45:36going national for a couple of things. Here, did you see where
- 45:40former President Trump is going? After Nicki Hayley's husband questioning him as to why
- 45:47he has not been on the campaign trail with her quote from the President's Saturday
- 45:52in Conway, South Carolina, what happened to her husband? Where is he
- 45:57he's gone? He knew, he knew? Question mark. That was the
- 46:02statement from President Trump, well to the former president, Michael Haley is deployed
- 46:14serving his country, something that the former president would know absolutely nothing about.
- 46:22In fact, that's exactly what Nikki Haley said about her husband Michael. So
- 46:29from talking crap about John McCain and others, the former president continues to disparage
- 46:34military people, but yet a majority, an overwhelming majority of Republicans fall all
- 46:43over themselves to curry favor from this guy and again voted for him twice.
- 46:46Just don't get it. How many times does he have to Does he have
- 46:50to disparage the military for people to get it? I don't know. But
- 46:58in the meantime, the current president continues to embarrass himself on the Democratic Party
- 47:02on an almost daily basis, with the gaps in public and bumbling and stumbling
- 47:07and so on. So these are our choices come November, folks, These
- 47:12are our choices, all right. I want to mention a couple of things
- 47:15about the Super Bowl here. Numbers came out yesterday that this year's Super Bowl
- 47:19between the Niners and the Chiefs was the most watched television program in television history,
- 47:23not sports history, in history period, the most watched between television and
- 47:29streaming, the most watched program in history. And if we didn't have the
- 47:34Super Bowl, I don't know what people would argue about on social media other
- 47:37than politics, of course. So every year, from the halftime show to
- 47:43the commercials, Christians were upset about that he gets me TV spot because they
- 47:47say it glamorizes the LGBTQ and trans community. I read one debate. I
- 47:53don't know why I do this. I just they always say don't read the
- 47:55comments. Read one debate that if you don't like to have Time show,
- 48:00if you didn't like the Usher halftime show, that makes you a racist.
- 48:04I actually read that locally from somebody. If you didn't like it, then
- 48:07you're a racist. If you don't like the cameras showing Taylor Swift, that
- 48:13makes you anti woman. And then the whole thing with Travis Kelsey pushing his
- 48:17cood. Now, I will admit I did do a little post on my
- 48:21personal Facebook page because I thought it was classless what Travis Kelsey did to go
- 48:25up and yell at a sixty five seventy year old man and push him and
- 48:29so on and so forth. And I had people say, well, you
- 48:31didn't play sports. Well I did, but just not well and you just
- 48:36don't understand. And coach Read apparently didn't have a problem with it because they
- 48:39were all embracing and so on and so forth. But here's an interesting question.
- 48:45And sometimes just to stir it up, as I get accused of stirring
- 48:49things up at the end of the show. It just keeps you coming back
- 48:51tomorrow. Interesting question. I'm gonna play a little game here. What if
- 48:58just say, what if Travis Kelsey were a black player, would all the
- 49:05people rushing to defend Travis Kelcey say that that black player is playing with passion
- 49:15as they get people applauded, they said, look, he's passionate guy.
- 49:19Or would he be considered will he be given the term thug or something like
- 49:22that? Just something to think about. What if instead of being the jolly,
- 49:30chubby guy that Andy Reid is, what if he were a black coach
- 49:36Tony Dungee Herm Edwards that Travis Kelsey pushed and yelled at could be a different
- 49:44story, then, don't you think? I don't know. I just I
- 49:49can't take credit for that thought. I actually read that somewhere on Twitter on
- 49:52x and I thought it is an interesting It is an interesting question. I
- 49:59think that have been totally I think would have been totally different. Texais,
- 50:02did you see the evil eyes pictures that Joe Biden tweeted out? What a
- 50:07weird thing to do for the most powerful man in the world, says attack.
- 50:10I did not did not see that. Uh. Tex says it's funny
- 50:17Christians are upset about the commercials because they glamorize LGBTQ and not that a church
- 50:24organization spent one hundred million dollars on Super Bowl commercials. I'm sure Jesus would
- 50:30be cool with that, Texas Dave. Danny Jones commented on the Trump quote
- 50:36yesterday when speaking about Haley, he said something about her cutting a wide swath.
