- 5:49he is, the Man of the Hour, the Man of the Year.
- 5:54Oh, not too much about you. Yeah, I'm I'm I'm stoked about
- 6:00wrapping up season four this year.
- 6:02I'm stoked to have you here to to kind of sign everybody off,
- 6:06you know, sign us off sign the sign the, the podcast off for
- 6:09the year. I was thinking about this
- 6:12earlier, how it seems like it was just this past week that
- 6:16season four started and here we are already, you know, end of
- 6:20the month well middle of the month end of the year.
- 6:24Wrapping it up for for this season.
- 6:27It's it's like where is where's the time gone?
- 6:29You know, it's it always boggles my mind just how seemingly like
- 6:33quicker things tend to to pass here these days.
- 6:37Exactly. It's a tricky that knowing that
- 6:41Christmas and New Year's and all the other celebrations are just
- 6:44running around the corner and we have the winter solstice
- 6:47occurring. And how many days was it?
- 6:48Like three or three days. Well, it's the 18th, I think
- 6:52it's it starts on the 21st, right?
- 6:56Yeah. Is that the?
- 6:57Is that the official date of the of the winter?
- 7:01So, so I think it starts like 10 something at night, local time
- 7:04or whatever. Yeah, Marissa.
- 7:06Yeah, Papa made a post about that.
- 7:08Yep, Yep. And then the day after that,
- 7:12we've got our Fire on the Mountain live stream like Q&A
- 7:18panel thing here. It'll be streaming here on,
- 7:22well, it'll be streaming on Facebook.
- 7:23It'll be streaming on YouTube I guess.
- 7:26It might go to your group too, I hope.
- 7:28Yeah, I'm sure it will. Because I got, I know I got it
- 7:31set to my page in the in the YouTube channel and you know Sid
- 7:37will be there so he'll probably be sending it to to his groups
- 7:41and you can send it to your groups and we'll get hopefully
- 7:44get a nice turn out. So yeah, for everybody listening
- 7:46today, you know when you guys are listening to this, you know
- 7:51Thursday, tomorrow, the 22nd, right.
- 7:55That's the yeah, 22nd, 7:00 PM Central Time.
- 8:00Come join me and Patrick and Papa, Olufsen and Zeb from
- 8:06Skoger Mayor and my my, my Go the Wolf and and Sid from Inner
- 8:15Demon Media. What about Patrick?
- 8:18Yeah I you know he he didn't confirm or reject the attendance
- 8:26but you know it'll it'll go out the invite will go out and and
- 8:30if he can come I'm sure he'll be there but I don't know you I
- 8:34don't know if you saw but he's he's got he's he's he's got a
- 8:36quite a a lifestyle change coming up.
- 8:40His hands are a little full right now.
- 8:42Yeah, yeah, you know and and then we've got our, we've got
- 8:45our Yule thing coming up, you know just next month and a
- 8:50little over a month now. So, yeah, you looking forward
- 8:54to. That, oh, absolutely.
- 8:55I was just about to say that right now plans are still
- 8:58somewhat up in the air. There's some really good ideas
- 9:01floating about and just trying to, you know, go from there.
- 9:06Nice how how how is it how's it well for us you know we we we
- 9:14you know we we keep it small for for us.
- 9:16You know, I was, I was scrolling through Facebook and I saw some
- 9:19like another local heathen witchy kind of group.
- 9:25It's called every Witch Way. But witch is spelled like the
- 9:30witch not not a every which way. Every which way.
- 9:34Every which way. And it's like in East Tennessee,
- 9:37about an hour or so I used to hear, but somebody was posted in
- 9:40there like, yeah, I haven't seen anything going on for people you
- 9:43know like a public Yule event. And I thought, well, that's that
- 9:51kind of tracks because I know for a lot of folks when it comes
- 9:54to the Yule time of year, whether you're starting your
- 9:58Yule festivities in December during, you know, when, when the
- 10:03moon cycles, you know start and and end right.
- 10:08I think we can. We know that like the historical
- 10:10heathen Yule doesn't happen until the first full moon, which
- 10:18is the first full moon after the first new moon following the
- 10:21winter solstice. But December like this time of
- 10:26year still is is the Yuletide right like it we're we're we're
- 10:30kind of entering into that mid winter cycle of of the months
- 10:35and so for a lot of people this is a you know a time of year
- 10:37around the solstice and hereafter when when things start
- 10:40kicking in form. But as far as like public Yule
- 10:43events, I I haven't. I know a lot of people tend to
- 10:47focus. They're more insular with their
- 10:50Yule celebrations. You know, very closed off in
- 10:52private versus big public to do's, you know what I mean?
- 10:59Which makes sense because I think for a lot of us when we
- 11:02are in this time of year, we're we're more focused on our inner
- 11:12tribal relationships, our family activities.
- 11:16You know, all of that energy is being spent with those people,
- 11:21right. Versus planning a big public
- 11:26attendance sort of thing, yeah, but so our our.
- 11:32Sorry, go ahead. No, no, you're good.
- 11:34I. Was going to say when I first
- 11:38started practicing as a Pagan, I was traditionally celebrating in
- 11:43December, been doing the the 12 Nights of Yule, you know,
- 11:48tradition and that didn't last very long.
- 11:50It was up until, I think, Matthew Petry, he would do the
- 11:5612 nights, if I'm not mistaken, at some point and then
- 11:59afterwards, huh? I started off that kind of way
- 12:03too. OK, yeah.
- 12:06But then gradually got into the more historical aspect and
- 12:09that's where my my bro Cliff and I for the last few years, we we
- 12:15meet up at his place and do kind of like a three nights of the
- 12:18old celebration and you know, do that kind of thing.
- 12:23That's cool. I don't know.
- 12:24I know. You know, So, like, for us, when
- 12:26when we plan around our holy tides, the weekends tend to be
- 12:35more convenient for folks to to meet and do stuff on just
- 12:39because of most people's work schedules.
- 12:41You know, like they don't have to worry about losing a day of
- 12:44work or using vacation or PTO or something like that because not
- 12:48everybody has that convenience or luxury.
- 12:52I get that. So.
- 12:55But like I think when when when we hit our Yule celebration in
- 13:00January, we're actually holding it on the last night of Yule
- 13:04instead of the first night of Yule because the three nights of
- 13:07Yule starts on like a on a Thursday or something, you know.
- 13:14Yeah. So like the full moon's on a
- 13:15Thursday and then we're not doing our thing till that
- 13:18Saturday. So we are technically starting
- 13:22on the last night of the Yule, the the three night long Yule
- 13:27celebration. But it's close enough.
- 13:31You know in in the past we've we've you know here recently
- 13:36like we've kind of it's just how it's just so happened to land a
- 13:39full moon has landed you know either the first or second night
- 13:43on a weekend so it's kind of been cool to have that happen
- 13:47where you know you're not like a week or two off the cycle from
- 13:53when the thing actually happened.
- 13:54So but in the past right we've we've done it to where you know
- 13:58we'll we'll figure out well do we want to do it a week before
- 14:00or a week after if if the the full moon lands on like a Monday
- 14:04or a Tuesday you know we'll we'll we'll we'll think around
- 14:08it or OK do we want to start our thing on that weekend before the
- 14:12full moon or or after. And typically I think we've
- 14:16we've gravitated towards starting it early, you know
- 14:20getting a little bit start on things.
- 14:22But yeah, it's just you know kind of how it works for our
- 14:29little group here and it is very closed off.
- 14:32We keep our, we keep our ceremonies and stuff private.
- 14:35I think what we're planning on doing this year is is inviting
- 14:41some folks that aren't part of the group to partake of our
- 14:45feast, right come over and have a have a bite to eat with us.
- 14:48But we're going to keep like the ritual part of things just for
- 14:52us kind of protect that that luck, you know what I mean?
- 14:59Yeah, the inner guard in our inner yard.
- 15:02Outer yard. Yeah, yeah, exactly.
- 15:07In and guard Uttongard. You know, we want to we want to
- 15:11have, you know, we want people to know that this is a place
- 15:14that they're welcome. You know, that clearly folk the
- 15:16tribe, right? Like that.
- 15:17It's a welcoming sort of thing. And at the same time, we also
- 15:21want to keep our gates guarded and and make sure that we're not
- 15:25just letting anybody and everybody, you know, partake of
- 15:28things like ritual with us without having them first, First
- 15:35of all established that they want to be a part of something
- 15:37like that. And hadn't gone through the
- 15:40Worthing process to establish that they're that that that it's
- 15:45a safe and a good thing for them to be a part of it, you know?
- 15:49Absolutely. But.
- 15:51It's like anytime when I was celebrating by myself, I was
- 15:54always, you know, doing it, solitary, practitioning, just,
- 15:56you know, I'd always do it privately though, you know, I'd
- 15:59always make sure that was either home alone or just, you know,
- 16:02wouldn't be disturbed for that duration of time.
- 16:05Yeah, yeah. So you think you're going to to
- 16:09Cliffs, you guys talked about that or?
- 16:11Oh yeah, like I said, you know, it's all up in there.
- 16:14There's some things floating around, so trying to figure
- 16:17those things out. Be here before we know it.
- 16:21Yeah, I know. It's crazy.
- 16:22Yeah. That'd be nice just to get past
- 16:24Christmas and all that stuff too, because, you know, it could
- 16:27be a depressing and difficult time for anybody.
- 16:32Like, for example, like, I'm not sure what the real pity party
- 16:35but basically is. So Christmas Eve is when I'll
- 16:38have the opportunity to spend time with my family and actually
- 16:42get this, you know, hang out with them, whereas Christmas
- 16:45Day, there's really nothing going on.
- 16:47So I'm more than likely be by myself or maybe visit my mom and
- 16:51stepdad, but it's just not as traditional, as wholesome as it
- 16:56used to be. Is like, especially when we're
- 16:57younger and kids add a whole new element to it, a whole new
- 17:01energy that this minute, you know, really bad ass.
- 17:05But you know that this typically happens, especially when it
- 17:08first knew into the Pagan path. Everything is just very fresh,
- 17:11very, you know, invigorating. Whereas over time, it's like you
- 17:16go to that burnout phase where sometimes one ULE sees better
- 17:20than the other, ule or whatever celebration or tie that you know
- 17:23you're participating in. Yeah, I always look forward to
- 17:28the the Yule time though because first of all it's like probably
- 17:34one of our of one of our like holiest of tides.
- 17:37You know what I mean it it's it's kind of out of all three of
- 17:41the historical holy tides like Yule is the big one.
- 17:44And and regardless of things that you know have happened
- 17:49leading up to it, it's kind of like one of those moments where
- 17:53you feel refreshed to be around you know your loved ones and eat
- 17:59good food and and exchange gifts.
- 18:03Like we we've we what we've done in the past is like we'll do
- 18:09like like a dirty Santa kind of game you know what I mean?
- 18:12Where everybody buys something and and we we do that whole you
- 18:17know I think last last year we called it something like naughty
- 18:25naughty Nisa, like the Nisa or like the like the the the gnome
- 18:30folk or whatever. You know like the Veytir kind of
- 18:33like the the Norwegian little like that's a name for the
- 18:37they're like again it's Nisa but it means like a gnome or a
- 18:41spirit of the home you know sort of thing.
- 18:43So we called instead of it calling it like Dirty Santa we
- 18:46called it Naughty Nisa. But then we started.
- 18:49I started thinking about, I'm like, that sounds too much like
- 18:51my wife's name, like Nessa. Oh, Nessa, yeah.
- 18:54And then we're like, no, no, no, no.
- 18:56We don't want to call that that again and get people the wrong
- 18:57idea, you know? Isn't there a high lung song
- 19:02called Nessa, if I'm not mistaken or on Mesa?
- 19:05You're asking the wrong one, but you would know I was going.
- 19:08To say, yeah, I think there is, yeah, it's the new, IT sounds
- 19:10like. There's, yeah.
- 19:12Or nesso or. Nesso, I think is the one.
- 19:14Yeah. I think that's.
- 19:15Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah.
- 19:16I got those two confused. Close, close.
- 19:19Yeah, very. Close.
- 19:21Yeah. Speaking of which, they're they
- 19:22they're coming back to do the Red Rocks thing next year, huh?
- 19:25That is correct. You going?
- 19:28Yes, most certainly. I I'll tell you what that was.
- 19:33That was quite the story. So I saw that there's going to
- 19:37pre a pre sale available. So I'm like well obviously I'm
- 19:40going to seek that opportunity the second I get it.
- 19:43Well, during that day I just kind of you know, slipped my
- 19:46mind strangely enough. But then I was later in the day,
- 19:49I saw a post, I went on high loan groups and I guess somebody
- 19:55said it wrong or just confused me, but it basically sounded
- 20:00like they're sold out. I'm like, that's insane because
- 20:04officially the tickets were going to be released the day
- 20:07after, obviously. So I'm just like freaking out.
- 20:11I'm talking to my my friend. I'm like, Oh my God, this is
- 20:14this is this can't be right. So I looked on the website.
- 20:18And they figured out that the tickets were still on sale.
- 20:20But now here's the strange thing about pre sale tickets and how
- 20:23this works. I think this is my my first time
- 20:28doing a pre sale, but I got on there and there's like
- 20:32reservation 1-2 and I think 1/3 which is general mission and the
- 20:38top tier was no longer available.
- 20:41Go figure. And then the second one was kind
- 20:43of like rows like, I don't know, like 8 to like 20 or something
- 20:47like that or 25. And then it just randomly
- 20:51assigned you the best seat available.
- 20:55I'm like, huh, 'cause I was hoping to at least have some
- 20:58kind of like chill or choice as to what where I'm going to sit.
- 21:02So then I got it randomly assigned row 21, which isn't
- 21:07terrible. It's not bad.
- 21:08I mean, last year, last time I was at Rd.
- 21:10Rocks, I was at Row 8, which is a phenomenal spot.
- 21:13But yeah, so then then I think it's like the day after or two
- 21:18days afterwards I went back on the website to figure out, you
- 21:21know, how the selection went and you could choose your seats.
- 21:25But some of it was kind of tricky because like for example,
- 21:28I went back to look for a closer spot and I see that there's one
- 21:33spot I want to be had to buy. Two tickets, not one you
- 21:38couldn't buy. Just one ticket for the area
- 21:39that you want to be in. No, you couldn't.
- 21:42Now if you go higher up until like, General Mission, then yes,
- 21:45you could probably more than likely be able to choose one
- 21:48specific spot. But when he got down further
- 21:51closer to the stage, it wasn't like that.
- 21:54It was just like stupid as shit. Wasn't happy about that, buddy.
- 21:59I'm just happy I got a ticket. So you know, it's going to be
- 22:02one for the books for sure. This is ever since people saw
- 22:06the footage and you know, stuff from the first Red Rocks
- 22:10rituals. It's incredible.
- 22:11I mean, it's the perfect time of year is in October and this time
- 22:15around it's going to be in April, which is badass because
- 22:17it's like literally days away from my birthday.
- 22:19I'm like, that's crazy as hell. So I'll be happy.
- 22:22It's like my little early birthday gift myself.
- 22:26Is, and that's an the Red Rocks venue.
- 22:29It's outdoors, isn't it? Yes, it's probably the best
- 22:33venue I'll ever visit. Go there bump.
- 22:35Make sure you dress appropriately because April can
- 22:39be, can be still really cold in Colorado.
- 22:44Yeah, like you can. I mean, I remember being in
- 22:47Colorado for work and it was June and it was in the higher
- 22:54elevations, like up in the mountains, but it was snowing
- 22:58like not, not a little bit like it was, it was, it was a
- 23:00Blizzard in June and then you came down the mountain and it
- 23:04would be like, you know, in the 60s or something, you know.
- 23:06But yeah, you never know. April can still be pretty.
- 23:11It can still be pretty. Are you going to be driving or
- 23:13are you going to fly in there? I'm going to be flying.
- 23:15I I thought about drive before, but just anytime I had to drive
- 23:18a long distance. I mean, you know, this first
- 23:20hand, you know? Yeah, I'd be a hell of a drive.
- 23:23It by car wouldn't be able to survive it.
- 23:25It can't even survive like an hour or three hours to like
- 23:28Indiana or wherever else they choose to go.
- 23:30So, well, fortunately for now, if I want to travel far, I have
- 23:33to rent a car, which isn't bad because when I went to go visit
- 23:36you and fire the mountain and I was just like, Oh my God, like
- 23:39this car is amazing, but right. But yeah, I'm going to be
- 23:43staying with one of my friends that lives out there and she's
- 23:46really cool. I got the hang out with her and
- 23:47her husband back in 2021 when I went through Red Rocks my first
- 23:52time. And yeah.
- 23:54Did you meet them through the Facebook group?
- 23:57Yeah, the highly exhaust spiritual group, yes.
- 24:01I mean. I actually get a lot of great
- 24:02people. Yeah, a lot of great people I've
- 24:04met on that website. And Flip is exactly an example
- 24:07of one of those people, as well as countless other friends I
- 24:10have on Facebook. You know, odds are a lot of them
- 24:13are probably watching this you know podcast.
- 24:15So. Hell yeah, I love that.
- 24:18You know the thing about social media, because I've talked you
- 24:22know, a number of times just how toxic it can be and what what a,
- 24:27you know, a cesspool social media can turn into.
- 24:30But stuff like this is, is what I love to see.
- 24:33You know, the the benefits of of social media shining through.
- 24:37You know, people that connect over long distance and then when
- 24:41they go to travel, they're not having to worry about spending
- 24:46extra money if they don't want to on lodging.
- 24:49You know there's there's kind hearted people that are like no,
- 24:52you you can stay with me or us, you know what I mean?
- 24:55And and that's a relief 'cause, you know, hotels ain't cheap
- 24:58either and it's already, you know, I don't know what the Red
- 25:01Rocks tickets cost but I know what I spent this year to see
- 25:04high lung with my wife and I and I don't know like I'm I've, I
- 25:11can't think of a time that I've dropped that much money to see a
- 25:14performance. You know what I mean?
- 25:16So I know like as big of a of a of a crowd that high lung can
- 25:22can draw, you know Red Rocks is going to sell out if it hasn't
- 25:27already it's. Just a matter of time, Yeah, I I
- 25:31every now and again when I'm bored, I'll just look at what
- 25:33seats are available. And it's just like one day I saw
- 25:36a really good spot that I was talking about and literally the
- 25:39next day was gone. Now there's plenty of resales,
- 25:42but those sell for like, they're scalpers.
- 25:45They're just selling like obnoxiously expensive and. $1000
- 25:49a ticket or some. Stupid.
- 25:50Oh yeah. Oh yeah.
- 25:51Over. Yeah, yeah.
- 25:52Actually, right around 1001 of my friends sent me a a
- 25:55screenshot. He was just entertaining the
- 25:57idea of getting a really good seat.
- 25:59And that's the thing about the presale too, is I feel like a
- 26:01lot of the scalpers were oh, I know for all the scalpers were
- 26:04there for that, like the second they released that, you know,
- 26:08presale and then they just hopped on that and just those
- 26:11are the not so great people. I mean especially people who go
- 26:16ahead. Well, no, I didn't.
- 26:19I was gonna say I wish there was a way to, like, stop that or
- 26:24outlaw it, make it illegal or something, 'cause that's, that's
- 26:26terrible. You know that, 'cause you know,
- 26:28that ain't the ban. That ain't the production, That
- 26:30ain't the ban. You know, you know what I mean?
- 26:32Like, they're not gonna charge people $1000 to come see them,
- 26:35you know what I mean? Like, they got to make, they got
- 26:38to make their money. Obviously, they got to earn
- 26:40their living. And I'm not saying it isn't
- 26:42worth it, but at the same time, when you know that you know a
- 26:46ticket that should only be, you know, a hundred, $200, whatever,
- 26:50even if it's right there in front of.
- 26:51Them it's. Going for like 8 times that
- 26:54amount or 10 you know whatever the OK, you know like come.
- 26:57On oh, it's insane. Yeah.
- 26:59And there are people in the Senate.
- 27:02Well, that's just it. They the the the scalpers.
- 27:04Like they, the band's, not the band's making what they make
- 27:09from the sales. And then the scalpers are
- 27:10turning around and and and taking advantage of people
- 27:17'cause like you said, they know that people will pay it.
- 27:22I remember one time this wasn't a it wasn't a High Lung concert,
- 27:26it was Tool. And Tool was coming to Nashville
- 27:32and they were playing the Bridgestone Arena.
- 27:36And the night that the tickets went on sale, they were like the
- 27:44the web, like Ticketmaster or Live Nation or whatever.
- 27:47The the thing was like the website crashed like you
- 27:52couldn't, you couldn't get to the and then when you like
- 27:54finally got to refresh the, the show was sold out within like
- 28:00minutes. That's crazy.
- 28:02And what it ended up happening was obviously scalpers got in
- 28:06there and and cleared the whole thing out.
- 28:09And I mean, Bridgestone Arena is, I forget how many 10s of
- 28:14thousands of of it might be like AI don't know, somewhere between
- 28:1810 to 20,000 seat capacity. You know what I mean?
- 28:22It's a it's it's a big place and they sold out.
- 28:25Clearly the the scalpers got in there and I knew I knew a lady
- 28:29who like ended up buying. I forget if it was 2 tickets,
- 28:36she got charged for four. It was something like $5000 that
- 28:39she ended up getting hit for it like incorrectly, you know, it
- 28:46was, it was it was terrible. He was like, I I can't even
- 28:49resell these now. No, there's.
- 28:52Nobody in their right mind that's going to spend, you know,
- 28:54$1500 for a ticket in the nosebleeds.
- 28:59And the next naturally the nosebleeds.
- 29:01If it was something more up close and meet the band
- 29:03afterwards kind of thing, I could see that maybe panning
- 29:05out, but. Yeah, but you know, to see a
- 29:09little speck, you know, a quarter mile away for $1500,
- 29:14give me a break. Yeah, I'd rather sit in my house
- 29:17and watch it on YouTube because you got cameras and stuff, you
- 29:20know what I mean? Like.
- 29:21That's why I will say that anyone who were to go to Red
- 29:24Rocks, I well, it's too late to say it now, but I'd say, you
- 29:28know, get there as soon as possible.
- 29:30We'll buy the tickets as soon as you can because, you know, I
- 29:33it's honestly worth the extra money for, you know, without the
- 29:37resale, obviously, but like the actual ticket prices are well
- 29:41worth it. It's just, you know, because
- 29:44I've seen pictures of people way back at the at the venue and
- 29:49it's just like, it's crazy because you can still see high
- 29:51Long pretty decently, but like overall they're like, God damn
- 29:55like I can't barely see them like this big.
- 29:57Yeah, yeah. Well, the nice thing about
- 30:00Amphitheatre type venues and I think that's what Red Rocks is,
- 30:06but it's an Amphitheatre, right, Is that you've got that seating
- 30:11arrangement where it isn't like flat straight back it it it goes
- 30:15up and back. So even though you're even
- 30:19though you're far back, like you're, you're more up in a way
- 30:22and so like yeah, you may be far in the back but you've got a a
- 30:28vantage point view almost like an aerial overhead view sort of
- 30:32thing. And so it's it's it's not like
- 30:35the worst. Oh no.
- 30:37It'll give you a lot worse if you get general mission.
- 30:41Yeah. Those schools, like during the
- 30:43day when I went there at the morning before, the ritual is,
- 30:47my friend and I, we went up there and then we can actually
- 30:50see them send up the stage from the very top.
- 30:52And then if you look right on the horizon, you can actually
- 30:55see the city of Denver in the distance.
- 30:57Yeah, yeah, did. You get you.
- 31:01You should if you get a chance, like I can't remember where in
- 31:06proximity it is, 'cause I used to go out there for work in
- 31:10Colorado, I mean, but I used to go everywhere.
- 31:11But we used to stay up. This it was, it was above
- 31:16Colorado Springs and I don't remember.
- 31:20No, it was Divide was the name of the place that I used to go.
- 31:23Oh. The Continental Divide.
- 31:27No, the name of the city itself was called Divide.
- 31:29Oh Oh yeah. Yeah.
- 31:31It was like if you go into Colorado Springs and then go up
- 31:35the mountain like 15 miles, you hit this little podunk town
- 31:39called Divide. They got to like a Walmart.
- 31:46And like, it's like this little podunk town.
- 31:49They got to jail, you know, some stores, a couple of restaurants.
- 31:53But it's so pretty up there. And, you know, I love Colorado
- 32:00anyway. Like, Oh yeah, used to travel
- 32:02all over the place. And you know, Colorado, Wyoming,
- 32:05Utah, Utah is a beautiful state. If you ever get a chance to go,
- 32:11there's like the southern part, the southeastern part of Utah.
- 32:17You've seen the movie Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade.
- 32:20Yes, of course. So the canyons that they are at,
- 32:26you know, going out, that's that's Moab, Utah.
- 32:30I've been to Moab, Utah. Yeah, those canyons are in Moab,
- 32:33UT that's where they filmed Indiana Jones and the Last
- 32:36Crusades. That's crazy.
- 32:38Our last crusade, yeah. I would never have guessed that
- 32:40would be somewhere like in the United States or something.
- 32:43Like, yeah, exactly like it looks.
- 32:44Like Iraq or something. Right.
- 32:46It does, yeah. It definitely has that, that
- 32:48that feel when you're out there and man, the canyons like you
- 32:52know it. It doesn't.
- 32:54It's not on the same scale as like say the Grand Canyon in
- 32:57Arizona, but it's still and when you go up some of these
- 33:00mountains and drive some of these areas and you start just
- 33:04looking around and you think that you're closer to something
- 33:08than what you are. But the the more you walk and
- 33:10you get to like the edge and you realize I'm looking down and
- 33:15like these little bushes are actually like full grown, like
- 33:19full size trees. You know, it's like 1000 feet
- 33:23drop, but it looks like it's like 50 or 100 feet because
- 33:25everything is like the the the proportion and the scale of
- 33:28things, it's it's skewed from just the sheer, massive size of
- 33:32where you are. So like you're standing at the
- 33:35top of this Canyon looking down, you're thinking you're looking
- 33:37at bushes, but they're like they're they're they're actual
- 33:40like 30-40 foot tall trees that look like little bushes.
- 33:43It's it's surreal. You take 11 wrong step and
- 33:47you're you're you're toast. But yeah, yeah.
- 33:51The Colorado I I had nothing but great things to say about the
- 33:55state. I've been there.
- 33:57Jeez, 123123. Yeah, I've been there about no,
- 34:06three or four times. I want to say, hold on, hold on.
- 34:10I want to say, yeah, at least three or four.
- 34:12But the first two of my brothers traveled nursing and it was
- 34:16three times and I could get to go visit him.
- 34:20Now, the first time, it was all about medical marijuana.
- 34:22I was like, Oh yeah, cool, you know?
- 34:26But then the next time, and then the time after was Red Rocks.
- 34:29It was more about the actual state of Colorado and the scenic
- 34:32beauty and the mountains and just really being able to
- 34:34appreciate it. One of my goals is whether it be
- 34:39spring, summer, I don't care what season I want to rent out,
- 34:41like a little cabin out there. They just spend like at least
- 34:44two weeks out. There's just by myself, one
- 34:47other person, and just, you know, get out.
- 34:50I would. Love.
- 34:53To be that always been one of my pipe trees, I guess her bucket
- 34:56list kind of thing. I'd love to take my wife out
- 35:00there because she's never been farther W than I think like like
- 35:06Memphis TN like she's not gone any further W than that.
- 35:15And so, like, there's there's so much out there like, you know,
- 35:20the the, the that particular area that like the Rockies, you
- 35:24know what I mean? Like it's it's it's breathtaking
- 35:27and I would love it. And you know, the winter time up
- 35:30there is like next level, you know, 'cause they get so much
- 35:35snow and they get it early on, you know, so like you get up
- 35:38into those mountains and it's like just a a whole different.
- 35:43It's like another world. Oh.
- 35:45Yeah. And I would love to do that
- 35:47thing like you mentioned, you know, like get it either an
- 35:49Airbnb or, you know, exactly. That's the way to go.
- 35:51You know for like a week or two and just get all your supplies
- 35:56and get everything you need and just chill up in the mountains
- 35:59for for a bit. Kind of like, you know, like on
- 36:02a, on a on a smaller scale, but like how we did with Fire on the
- 36:05Mountain this year. You know, you know, you get, you
- 36:07bring what you need and you know hang out up there for for a
- 36:12period of time. Yeah, go off the grid.
- 36:15Just kind of stay away from social media and just, you know,
- 36:19just kind of recommute with, you know, nature and just, you know
- 36:22all that. Yeah, I think that's what I'm
- 36:28going to work on, you know, next year, you know, 2024.
- 36:35And I can't. It's just blowing my mind.
- 36:36It feels like we just got into 2023, man, like.
- 36:39Well, it's insane, but there are things happening this year.
- 36:41Like, a lot of great things, but it's just like, yeah, yeah,
- 36:46yeah. What is what are some highlights
- 36:49of 2023 that that that you have to to reflect on?
- 36:54Oh, geez. On into next year.
- 36:57At the top of my head it was one of my close friends got to be
- 37:01part of his wedding and then obviously my brother's wedding,
- 37:04marrying him and his wife. That was a true, true honor.
- 37:08And then good to see Gozira my second time.
- 37:11That was incredible. And then obviously the next part
- 37:16is very obvious, but saying hi, long and hang out.
- 37:19Then again, November 1st, you know this.
- 37:23That was just absolutely incredible.
- 37:25Anytime I get to share company with these great people, this is
- 37:28truly fucking amazing. And then I also got to meet some
- 37:30special people there as well, some for the first time, some
- 37:34for the second or third time, and then the next day I got to
- 37:38spend some time with a really cool person and had a blast.
- 37:41So we went down to the arch, which I hadn't been there since
- 37:45I was a kid, which that was a trip.
- 37:47I'm like, Oh my God, wow. And just everything just seems
- 37:51so much smaller now. But and then other than that,
- 37:55I'd say fire on the mountain. Obviously it has to be one of
- 37:59the crowning jewels of this era, too.
- 38:01I mean, good to see you again. And then meet Papa for the first
- 38:04time and Alf and Zeb and, you know, Sid and just absolutely
- 38:09incredible. How about you?
- 38:14I mean, yeah, like of course you know Fire on the Mountain ranks
- 38:18up there as a, as a as a pinnacle point of the year, you
- 38:23know something we look forward to, you know soon after it ends.
- 38:28We're like looking forward to the next one kind of thing and
- 38:32and then just, you know having those people part of it this
- 38:35year like you and and Wolf, that was a big deal.
- 38:39Having OLF in in our lives, you know is is is another highlight
- 38:43of the year 'cause you know this our, our this coming Yule, right
- 38:49next month is his one year anniversary of being a full
- 38:56member of Clarity folk. He was oathed in to the tribe
- 39:00last you know this this Yule this 2023 because we were like
- 39:06well we can't we want, you know we want you to kind of lead our
- 39:09ritual and well you can't do that unless you're fully part of
- 39:14the tribe and you've you've spent a lot of time you know
- 39:17Worthing yourself and and us proving our worth to you and you
- 39:20know that whole thing. So a big highlight of 2023 was
- 39:25to make it official, you know, and have him, you know, oathed
- 39:31into us and us to him. And you know that was that was a
- 39:39big step for for the tribe. I think you know probably
- 39:44another big one for me was fulfilling an oath for you know
- 39:51doing something with myself and and Greg you remember Greg you
- 39:56know Greg Strong from Raven Moon Hearth we we we we we tied our
- 40:02Weir together at the beginning of the year and at at UUL Samuel
- 40:05that OLF was was kind of sworn in to his position.
- 40:10But you know, Greg and I took an oath that we, you know, would do
- 40:14certain things for the community, not just our
- 40:17respective tribes, but our overall community.
- 40:20You know, host get togethers, host gatherings, do classes,
- 40:24bring knowledge and education for free to people and and.
- 40:29You know welcome people to know who we are and what we are about
- 40:32here in this area of Tennessee. And it was met well, you know
- 40:37and and you know getting that kind of connection with people
- 40:42and and establishing friendships which have grown into the you
- 40:46know bonds of kind of family sort sort of things.
- 40:49You know talked earlier I think offline or maybe it was when you
- 40:53came on here but about you know my, my, my fool Patrick the
- 40:56other Patrick GAC. You know some of the things that
- 40:59have happened in that are happening in his life.
- 41:02You know changes lifestyle changes, you know none of that.
- 41:07I don't want to say none of it would have happened if it
- 41:09weren't for the work that was put into you know people getting
- 41:16together with you know public gatherings park moots, all of
- 41:22that. But I think that those those
- 41:25actions were very influential in getting him to a point where
- 41:29he's at now and transitioning into the to the life that he's
- 41:34about to be faced with, you know, the responsibilities that
- 41:38he's going to be faced with. So I don't know, like, it's a
- 41:42very proud feeling, you know what I mean?
- 41:44Like I, I look back on this year and I and I see some of the
- 41:47things that have happened with not just myself but with others
- 41:51who mean a lot to me, you know, and I go, man, none of this
- 41:57would have happened had we not taken that first step, whenever
- 42:02it was, you know what I mean? Started that conversation,
- 42:07planted that seed, nourished that thing that was growing at
- 42:14its very early stages. Had we abandoned it?
- 42:16Had we, had we given up? You know it would have withered
- 42:20and died, you know and it wouldn't have become something
- 42:23you know and and what it is becoming or what it has become
- 42:27is is like it's you can't help but take some pride in that.
- 42:30You know what I mean? Probably like I think maybe for
- 42:33you with like the the the Highland group.
- 42:36You know what I mean? Like the?
- 42:38The. Challenges, the dips, the the,
- 42:41you know, the UPS, the down, you know what I mean?
- 42:42But like you have things that you can look back and reflect on
- 42:45and go, I'm proud of that. You know, I'm proud to have been
- 42:49a part of that, that thing. That's something that I'm very,
- 42:53very happy and very honored to look back on that and still have
- 42:58it being an ongoing thing. I mean, granted, like I told you
- 43:01and a few others, you know, it's not like we talk like me, you,
- 43:04me and me and you do or a couple of my other friends.
- 43:07But you know, every now and again I'll share a message or,
- 43:09you know, something like that. They just have it reciprocated.
- 43:12And you know, again, like when I was hanging out, then this time
- 43:15around I really had the distinct feeling of being treated like a
- 43:21friend and not so much a fan, which is something I found those
- 43:26very, you know, very special. Now granted some members I got
- 43:30along with her, not really got along with more, but just, you
- 43:32know, got more in depth with, you know, more, you know,
- 43:35one-on-one time, for example, like Mira and I, that was a
- 43:40really special part of that night.
- 43:41Just we talked for like about 30 or 40 minutes and then you know
- 43:46Alex Cabot, he's a great guy too.
- 43:49You know, he was great. You know, getting them talk with
- 43:53him and share my drawings with them that I drew for them.
- 43:55That was a real, real pleasure too And they really liked it and
- 43:58appreciate it and just, you know, and everything else that
- 44:02went with that experience too. But yeah, but also I was also
- 44:04thinking about me and you and like we mentioned this a few
- 44:07times through our podcast, but just you know that one Fateful
- 44:10day actually I think it might have been around this time of
- 44:12year it seems, you know some of the cross you and on YouTube and
- 44:19you'll see, you know, I really hate what happened with you on
- 44:22YouTube, but in a lot of ways I still appreciate YouTube a lot
- 44:25and how you know, they made a lot of things possible as well,
- 44:29you know and just you know having our our connection and
- 44:33building upon that and look where we are today.
- 44:36Yeah, exactly. You know, that was a seed that
- 44:38got planted. And you know the the interesting
- 44:41thing about growth is you know sometimes you got to sometimes
- 44:45you got to do some really heavy wedding and and kind of like you
- 44:50know you know cut it all cut it all down sometimes, sometimes
- 44:56you got to go in there and just say fuck it and start from
- 45:01scratch a bit you know what I mean?
- 45:03And that was kind of that was that was a that was a step that
- 45:06took place this year too for me. You know, there was some, there
- 45:09were definitely things that in reflection I I realized were
- 45:15necessary to happen for like the, you know, wiping it out,
- 45:20cleaning it out, resetting, doing a hard reset on a lot of
- 45:26things. You know, I'm going to do a
- 45:30quick add real quick. It's only going to be like a 30
- 45:32second thing. But for those of you listening

- 46:30description and show notes. Excellent work.
- 46:34I know Patrick, you've got pieces, I've got a number of
- 46:38pieces. You know, they they sit back
- 46:40here a lot of times. You guys look and see and and I
- 46:42talk about it all the time, but I'm definitely support Heathen
- 46:46businesses, support Heathen small businesses especially.
- 46:51And yeah, yeah, it's all good stuff.
- 46:53But I think, you know, when when we talk about, you know,
- 46:57reflecting, it's like we want to focus all the time or or maybe
- 47:03most of the time, especially this time of year, we want to
- 47:05focus on the things that bring us levity right, happiness.
- 47:10What were the what were the shining moments.
- 47:11What were the what were the the the things that you know, made
- 47:14us happy. And I think, you know, one of
- 47:20the things that I've personally had to, you know, battle with or
- 47:25or or struggle with this year is it's some it's some not so nice
- 47:28things, not so happy things. You know my dad passed away in
- 47:31April and you know the the the the family dynamic such as it
- 47:39such as it was my my blood family.
- 47:41I mean you know kind of being torn apart in a way.
- 47:48You know there's still points of it to to to learn from I think.
- 47:53And it's, it's it, you know, if if we don't, if we don't allow
- 47:59things like that to be a part of our progression, a part of our
- 48:02growth, I think we're probably doing ourselves a a disservice
- 48:08or an injustice, you know, not learning from those tough times,
- 48:14you know what I mean? Those those times where we felt
- 48:18like we had nowhere else to go, we were, we were beaten down and
- 48:21we were knocked down and it was where, where, where can I
- 48:25possibly go from here, you know? I know exactly what you mean.
- 48:30And in my life, you know, my struggles are no secret, you
- 48:35know, I mean struggling with depression And just, you know, I
- 48:39think one of the most frustrating things about that
- 48:41for me is just, you know, having that sense of being burned out
- 48:45and having that zest for what you're passionate about.
- 48:49You know, just kind of be drained away a little bit.
- 48:51Why, That's kind of why I partake of some of the
- 48:55substances that I do being you know, alcohol and cannabis that
- 48:59kind of just, I don't know. In some ways it opens the door.
- 49:03But also one of my goals this year is to, well, next year I
- 49:06should say, is to be more organic about ascertaining those
- 49:11kind of levels of connection on a very natural way, like brother
- 49:15just don't for nice and nice little hike or maybe just like
- 49:21meditating, you know, one of my sacred places and something like
- 49:24that, you know? Which you you actually have
- 49:30shared on on on some of your posts that really cool place in
- 49:33in the pine trees where you made that kind of like a almost like
- 49:37a teepee or lean to sort of. Yeah, a little shelter.
- 49:40Yeah, yeah. How's that holding up?
- 49:43I was actually there not that long ago at all.
- 49:46I left there probably around 5:15 this evening, but it's
- 49:50still standing. It was actually windy is all
- 49:52held today and I was hesitant to going out there today, but I'm
- 49:57like I've been spending all day inside.
- 49:59I need to get out. I can't.
- 50:01I can't do this. It was a little chilly, but I
- 50:03bundled up and I went down there and I'm very happy I did and
- 50:07just kind of like just sat back in my little space and being in
- 50:10there guarded me for the wind a lot.
- 50:13So that made it a lot more easier just to sit, sit back and
- 50:16relax and just watch the scenery and listen to some great music
- 50:19and just it was fantastic. I'm really proud of myself, the
- 50:22way it was all put together. Funny thing happened the other
- 50:26day is I went down there to see y'all hang out and then I see a
- 50:30car parked there. I'm like, OK, well there's
- 50:32someone walking around, obviously walking around, not
- 50:35seeing us all. Then I go to my shelter, I see
- 50:38three guys in there participating of a certain
- 50:43substance, and I'm like, oh, you guys got the same idea too, huh?
- 50:48And then one of the guys, like, pumped his head up and goes,
- 50:51hey, did you make this spot? I'm like, yeah, like, oh shit.
- 50:56Just kind of all gradually got out and we started talking for a
- 51:00few minutes and we're just kind of shooting the ship for a
- 51:03little bit. And then, you know, they just
- 51:05sung their praises and like, hey, can I tag you on Instagram
- 51:08and blah, blah, blah. I'm like, yeah, sure, go for it.
- 51:11And then they told me a story. I'm not sure if I told you this,
- 51:13but it was really cool when I heard it is.
- 51:17They said one of the times they were down there hanging out,
- 51:19they saw a guy with an easel painting what I built.
- 51:25Really. Yeah.
- 51:28Oh. Wow.
- 51:28Yeah, I when I heard that, I'm like, please tell me you're
- 51:31being serious because that just made my day.
- 51:33You know, like just the fact that somebody felt so inspired
- 51:36to paint something that I created, like, wow, that's a
- 51:39true honor and a true privilege. And just like, you know, make
- 51:43down the pride of saying that I made this all by myself too.
- 51:46It was really cool, too. He had this.
- 51:48It took. It's funny because one anything
- 51:50I went out there just hanging around and then something just
- 51:53sparked in me. I was actually listening to one
- 51:56of our mirrors of songs. I'm like, all right, let's do
- 52:00it. And then start gathering
- 52:01supplies. And then the day after that and
- 52:03the day after that, it just start building and building it
- 52:05just it was an addiction. I'm like, I need to keep
- 52:07building. And then finally I was like, OK,
- 52:10this looks adequate for now and I'm going to leave a beef for
- 52:14the time being. But yeah, I should have sent you
- 52:17a picture and just like post it on that video, but.
- 52:20Yeah, no, I'm I'm actually, I'm actually doing something here
- 52:24real quick while you talk about it.
- 52:26No. So that's pretty neat because
- 52:28you had somebody, you know, and it's one thing to, like, take
- 52:33photos of it, you know what I mean?
- 52:36It's a totally other thing to like, have it like memorialized
- 52:43through painting, drawing a sketch, you know, that sort of
- 52:50thing. I want to see if anybody's
- 52:52watching. Here it is.
- 52:55Oh, there she is. That's you.
- 52:59You took this. I I just stole this from your.
- 53:01From your profile, I guess this was like within the last week or
- 53:05so, right? Yeah, not that long ago at all.
- 53:08Yeah, yeah, you know, so for those of you watching, you know,
- 53:13this is the thing that obviously some other guys had found in
- 53:17their travels and they were enjoying it in their way, right?
- 53:21They weren't being disrespectful to the space.
- 53:24And then they told you that they witnessed someone out there who
- 53:30wanted to paint this picture somewhere out there.
- 53:34Dude, your work has been painted, you know what I mean?
- 53:38Yeah, it's tricky. As a whole, that's that's cool
- 53:41as hell, dude. Like to think about that.
- 53:43Like I was walking the Greenway here a few a few weeks ago and I
- 53:51had my I I I walked like out to the to some of the trails that
- 53:57go around the battlefield. The next time you come out we'll
- 54:00have to go out that way. It's a little bit further.
- 54:02It's a little bit further down than the place that I took you
- 54:08about a mile or two, maybe not even about a mile, maybe most.
- 54:12But anyway, I was walking back and I had like my poncho and
- 54:14stuff on and I didn't, I didn't look like your typical, you
- 54:17know, hiker or whatever, you know.
- 54:20But anyway there was this lady and and another guy that were
- 54:23out there and they were just like taking random photos.
- 54:25They had a picture. They had a picture taker.
- 54:28They had a camera. It's called the camera, damn it,
- 54:32like a professional camera. You know what I mean?
- 54:34That they were taking pictures for.
- 54:36And she's like, I'm an amateur photographer.
- 54:37She stopped me. She's like, I'm sorry, but you
- 54:39got this look. She's like, do you mind if I
- 54:41take your picture? And I was like, Nah, yeah,
- 54:44that's fine. And so told her who, you know
- 54:47what my page was and she sent it to me.
- 54:49And I was pretty cool. But yeah, you know, like when
- 54:52you, you never know just what, you know, the thing that we do,
- 54:56the things that we do for ourselves, you never know just
- 54:59how they might touch someone. You know, they, they they, they
- 55:03see something and it sparked something for them, you know?
- 55:07And maybe that's all it was for those guys.
- 55:10Like maybe it was just a cool spot for them to kind of
- 55:12privately do what they wanted to do without being hassled about
- 55:15it. But you never know what it could
- 55:18have left in their hearts and in their minds on a, on a, on a
- 55:24more long term sort of deal, you know what I mean?
- 55:27And I think that's an important, I think, I think it's an, I
- 55:32think it's an important thing to to remember too, you know, that
- 55:35the kind of responsibilities that we have at times to, you
- 55:41know, the influence that we can have on people.
- 55:45You know what I mean? Good and bad.
- 55:47Yeah. You know we can leave bad
- 55:51influence, bad impressions or or or be a bad influence.
- 55:54But man, for those times like I I'm so proud of you, man, for
- 55:57for having gone through that work and done that work and then
- 56:00have the opportunity for others to enjoy it and want to capture
- 56:05it, want to immortalize it in a way you know through a painting.
- 56:11That's so cool, man. I'm.
- 56:13Really hoping one day, Yeah. I was going to say one day.
- 56:15I want to see maybe, you know the Doors will deem it worthy
- 56:19for me to come across it someday.
- 56:21I mean, I'm not sure where I may be on Facebook or honestly, I
- 56:25think Instagram might be the best way to go for that one.
- 56:27Just because maybe. Who knows but.
- 56:32Yeah, you never know, right? I mean, where your stuff might
- 56:36end, like where it could have ended up like who?
- 56:38Who was that even, right? Why did they like, is it hanging
- 56:43in their garage or did it like, get sold?
- 56:45Like, who knows, man. Like, that's cool.
- 56:48Watching it worth like $2,000,000 like like 50 years an
- 56:52hour or some shit. Too right?
- 56:55Oh. My God, we're gonna have that.
- 56:56But can I can I buy this? But I I got a funny story.
- 56:59I I kind of created this and. Right.
- 57:03I'm gonna, you know, need need royalties now intellectual
- 57:07property. Yeah, I need a cupboard or
- 57:09whatever you're making right now.
- 57:10I got proof too. I got my phone and you know,
- 57:13here's me step by step making it and I'm kind of glad I did that
- 57:17too. It was fun just to watch or look
- 57:19at my pictures when I start off, just like, you know, three, like
- 57:22you have the tree here. And then what I did is I took
- 57:24two long like logs or branches and sent them right there and
- 57:29just got kind of built from side to side and stacking insulation
- 57:34and building again. And that's the Long story short
- 57:36version of what I did, but yeah. Yeah, well, he did some great
- 57:42things this year, man. Seriously.
- 57:46Oh thank you. Thank you and that and that's
- 57:48always cool thing to like you know to just reflect back and
- 57:53then it kind of gives you inspiration on what do I do now
- 57:57going forward. Right.
- 57:58Because it's not you know it's not you just you know do this
- 58:02one thing and then walk away from it.
- 58:05It's it's like you know you you're constantly tending to it
- 58:08and it's a it's it's always, I think I posted something not too
- 58:11long ago where you know goodness is not a it's not a destination
- 58:17that you reach. It's a process that we go
- 58:21through talking about goodness, right.
- 58:23Things that are good. Right.
- 58:24So it's it's not that you you reach the destination and then
- 58:28that's it, it's it's it's always happening you know and sure
- 58:34you're going to reach those points in those times where it's
- 58:39you know, didn't feel so good or you know.
- 58:44Like a dry spell. Yeah, yeah, you like, you know,
- 58:46you talk about like I forget the word you use, but like that the.
- 58:52Burnout. Burnout, yeah.
- 58:54Yeah, yeah. And that's the thing too.
- 58:57That's also very important to know.
- 58:59Anyone who might be watching relating to this is like, that
- 59:02goes with any like relationship or friendship or any kind of
- 59:07like established connection you've made.
- 59:09There's going to be days where that connection just isn't
- 59:13there. But in my opinion, I think
- 59:16that's a challenge Well accepted.
- 59:18It's like, OK, well fine, if you can get through those days of
- 59:22like the burnout phase or get to the days of just your just no
- 59:26rapport. You know, there's times like
- 59:28multiple times me and you were talking on Messenger and I'm
- 59:31like, man, there's just nights. I just not feeling anything at
- 59:33all. And then there's nights that you
- 59:34completely don't expect anything at all to happen and it just,
- 59:37bam, happens right then and there.
- 59:39You know, completely unscripted. You know the way it should
- 59:43happen rather than being something you, you know, split
- 59:47hairs and just kind of like, you know, make it the best way
- 59:50possible, just needs to play out the need the way it needs to
- 59:52play out. Yeah, I I think, you know I
- 59:58think that when we do feel that that that feeling of of burnout,
- 1:00:03I think it I think it's ourselves trying to tell us what
- 1:00:07we actually need. You know what I mean?
- 1:00:11I don't, I don't necessarily think that we're burnt out from
- 1:00:14the experience. I think we just need to shift
- 1:00:16our focus because when we put, when we're putting all of our
- 1:00:20effort or putting all of our energy into.
- 1:00:24Connections and doing for you know doing things that we want
- 1:00:30you know to to to to be as like a lead by deed, you know sort of
- 1:00:34thing. It's not that it's not that we
- 1:00:35ever turned it off. It's just that at that I think
- 1:00:38at some points in in our existence and in our experiences
- 1:00:43as as beings, as what we are, that we reach certain points
- 1:00:48that in order for our health to be kept, well, you know, we need
- 1:00:54it. That that that focus needs to be
- 1:00:56shifted, right. We're not turning it off
- 1:00:58completely. We just like, hey, we we need to
- 1:01:00turn our gaze elsewhere. I'm putting too much into this
- 1:01:04thing right now and it's and it's you know, taking maybe too
- 1:01:09much out of me. I need to, I need to refocus.
- 1:01:11I need to, I need to shift my focus into into other areas,
- 1:01:15whatever that might be, whether it's ourselves or whatever,
- 1:01:20right. Whatever the whatever the
- 1:01:21circumstances might be. I think, you know, I think we
- 1:01:26are, I think we're, I think we're really in tune with
- 1:01:30ourselves more than we give ourselves credit for, right.
- 1:01:34If you're feeling burnt out about doing something and it's
- 1:01:40probably because you're just putting you know putting more
- 1:01:42into it than what needs to be put into it at the time and now
- 1:01:46you need to shift focus into into other things And that's the
- 1:01:50beauty of it. You know we're not.
- 1:01:52You know we're not we're not stationary creatures.
- 1:01:58You know what I mean? You know we're we're we're not
- 1:02:00trees in that aspect. You know, we can move.
- 1:02:03We don't like something. You know, I saw something not
- 1:02:06too long ago. It's like if you don't like
- 1:02:09where you are, then fucking move, You know what I mean?
- 1:02:13You don't like where you're at, at A at a particular stage of
- 1:02:16things, like then move. You're not a tree.
- 1:02:17You don't have to sit here and take it, get up and move like
- 1:02:22and. And I think part of the
- 1:02:23experiences that we feel with burnout is is ourselves telling
- 1:02:27ourselves that like, I got to get away from this particular
- 1:02:30thing. And I think it's also important
- 1:02:33to to realize that if we get to that point, then maybe that's a
- 1:02:38lesson for ourselves to put more attention to the process and not
- 1:02:47allow ourselves to get to that point of burnout.
- 1:02:50I mean, it's going to happen. You know what I mean?
- 1:02:53Like, I'm going to be burnt out from doing podcasts at any given
- 1:02:58point in time. I mean, I felt it number of
- 1:02:59times this year. And I've been like, sorry guys,
- 1:03:02I need a week. You know, I need to take a week.
- 1:03:04And then in advance of that, I thought, well, let me plan when
- 1:03:07I'm going to tie this season off and then let people know, like
- 1:03:10I'm, I'm not going to be doing the podcast for, you know, the
- 1:03:13next week or two or however long it's going to be.
- 1:03:15I'm taking this time off and realize that that is a necessary
- 1:03:20part of all of this. We can't be on 100% of the time
- 1:03:26with what we're doing right. We've got to.
- 1:03:31We've got to be sensitive to our our feelings of things and know
- 1:03:35that if we feel burnt out, then it's probably because we've
- 1:03:41exhausted all we can with that particular thing and we need to
- 1:03:45shift our focus. I don't know what you think
- 1:03:46about it, but through it, you know, relationships too.
- 1:03:54I mean, I love my wife. She loves me, you know, been
- 1:03:58together for eight years, and there's plenty of times where
- 1:04:02it's just like, I need a break from you.
- 1:04:08You know what I mean? Like, I love the hell out of
- 1:04:10you. But I just like, I got to get
- 1:04:11away from you for this duration, for this moment, for this time,
- 1:04:14whatever. Like, I need AI, need my space.
- 1:04:18And that's fair. That's a fair thing to expect of
- 1:04:21people, you know. You know, I wouldn't want
- 1:04:25somebody up my butt 24/7. You probably don't either.
- 1:04:28I mean, the the the idea, the notion of that probably sounds
- 1:04:32better than what the reality of it is to a lot of people.
- 1:04:35But I'm telling you, you know, like the novelty will wear off
- 1:04:39really quick. If you have somebody just up
- 1:04:42your butt 24/7, you know you're going to get burnt out.
- 1:04:47They're going to be just going to.
- 1:04:50Yeah, she's going to carry it away sometimes, but.
- 1:04:53Yeah, it is. You know, And it's such a weird
- 1:04:55place to be. And you know to to to crave
- 1:04:58something, to want something, to work hard for something that you
- 1:05:04crave. And then when you get it, you're
- 1:05:06like, why do I hate this thing now all of a sudden?
- 1:05:09Why am I why? Why?
- 1:05:10Why is this the last thing that I even want, having, you know,
- 1:05:15busted my butt to get it? It's weird, man.
- 1:05:19It's it's strange how that can go, you know, working hard for
- 1:05:28something and then almost abhorring the idea of it once
- 1:05:33you get there. Weird, you know?
- 1:05:38That's how it wasn't my job too. I mean good God.
- 1:05:41Yeah, I'm, I'm, I'm sure you know, like you, you know, you
- 1:05:44want, you think, you know, generally speaking that you
- 1:05:47know, you work hard for something because you know,
- 1:05:50that's what we're supposed to do.
- 1:05:51Where we have this, I guess, preconceived idea or notion
- 1:05:55that, you know, you work hard, you get a raise, you get a
- 1:05:57promotion, you get a better life or at least the means to provide
- 1:06:01for a better life. You know, and all these types of
- 1:06:04this, this very, you know, western concept of of society
- 1:06:10and and all this types of things.
- 1:06:11And then when you get there, it's like, well, where is it?
- 1:06:17You know, well, you had it. You you, you got it and and now
- 1:06:22the work comes into to to keep it and to maintain it.
- 1:06:24It's it's it doesn't get easier the more that you, when you
- 1:06:29strive for a greatness, you know, like it, it doesn't get
- 1:06:32easier now that you've got there.
- 1:06:33If anything it becomes even more of a task to to maintain and
- 1:06:39keep it, you know and I think that's what a lot of people
- 1:06:43reach with burnout is that they they they like the idea or the
- 1:06:49notion of achieving something. They just they don't they don't
- 1:06:53fully grasp the responsibility of what that thing is once they
- 1:06:57get it, when they get a taste of it.
- 1:07:01The the real work comes in when when you you get to that point
- 1:07:06you know you can't just you can't just sit back and coast
- 1:07:11it's because it it now at that point it's it's much more you
- 1:07:15know liable to to to blow away like you got to hold on even
- 1:07:18harder you got to work even harder now at that point to keep
- 1:07:21it but it's a tactical sort of thing you know what I mean it's
- 1:07:24it's it's not you know nose to the grindstone 24/7.
- 1:07:28I mean you got to take care of ourselves.
- 1:07:30It's and I think that's I think that's where I want to be.
- 1:07:36You know going into to to the new year, preparing for Season 5
- 1:07:41for the podcast, You know, I've got a lot of responses from a
- 1:07:47lot of different people that want to come on to the show next
- 1:07:50year, next season as guests, you know what I mean?
- 1:07:53And that's that's a lot to to maintain and I'm excited for it
- 1:07:59because there's there's you know people that are eager and
- 1:08:01wanting to hear you know to to have their voices heard and and
- 1:08:05and talk about things and I'm really, really excited for that.
- 1:08:08But it's it's going to be an even it's going to be a much
- 1:08:12different thing than this past season you know.
- 1:08:19So I'm looking forward to it. I hope everybody that listening
- 1:08:23and watching is is looking forward to it as well.
- 1:08:26But and I'm looking forward to Friday, man.
- 1:08:30I don't know about you. I'm looking forward to.
- 1:08:31That I'm very soaked. I can't wait to hear and see
- 1:08:34what people are asking and and and and us to get together sort
- 1:08:37of in again that virtual space, you know, sit around that
- 1:08:41virtual fire, as it were. I might make my own.
- 1:08:43I'm actually able to make my own fire that evening.
- 1:08:46Yeah, yeah. Well, I can't do it here.
- 1:08:48I mean, I can't. I can have, like, the candles,
- 1:08:50but I think, I think my wife would get mad if I'd lit a fire
- 1:08:55in my office. Yeah, mine.
- 1:08:56To go too well. You know what I mean?
- 1:08:59It'd get a little smoky. I raised some attention here.
- 1:09:02Yeah, yeah, you know, smoke billowing out from the doors is
- 1:09:06generally not a good sign. It's just part of the podcast.
- 1:09:09Don't worry about it. Right, right.
- 1:09:12But anywho man, anything else you wanted to to add to this
- 1:09:19Anything else on your mind that you want to weigh in on before
- 1:09:23we wrap this up? I.
- 1:09:25Think I'm all set. All right.
- 1:09:29Well, I definitely appreciate you coming on here and talking
