- 0:01Speaker 1: Let's dive into this week's matchup in the Coordinator's Corner
- 0:04Speaker 1: of the Sean O'Connell Show. OC chats with the coordinators
- 0:08Speaker 1: every week of the Utah football season. On your home
- 0:12Speaker 1: of the Utes and your home for football, ESPN 792.1 FM.
- 0:20Speaker 2: Coordinator's Corner time here on the Sean O'Connell Show, and
- 0:23Speaker 2: this week we get to talk about the mastermind, of
- 0:26Speaker 2: the Utah offense. Kevin McGiven more affectionately referred to as
- 0:31Speaker 2: Mac G joins us once again here on your home
- 0:34Speaker 2: of the use coach.
- 0:36Speaker 1: Welcome.
- 0:36Speaker 3: How are you? Good, good. How's things going, man? Great.
- 0:41Speaker 2: You got a three and oh football team that makes
- 0:43Speaker 2: my job pretty easy. 33, zero victory over the Utah
- 0:48Speaker 2: state Aggies, obviously a program, a team, a coaching staff. that,
- 0:52Speaker 2: you know, well, uh, just, you know, your initial thoughts on,
- 0:56Speaker 2: on that performance from your offense. And then we'll get
- 1:00Speaker 2: to some more of the details here, but 33, zero,
- 1:03Speaker 2: not much for us to complain about.
- 1:05Speaker 3: Yeah. Um, no, obviously, um, just coming out with when, and,
- 1:10Speaker 3: and the, the three and oh, start always, always difficult
- 1:14Speaker 3: to play against, um, you know, former team and coaching
- 1:18Speaker 3: staff just with, with player players, you know, and, um,
- 1:21Speaker 3: and coaches that you want to see successful and, you know, the, uh,
- 1:26Speaker 3: I think probably helpful in terms of our understanding going
- 1:28Speaker 3: into that game of, of what that battle was going
- 1:31Speaker 3: to be like in terms of, um, the culture that
- 1:33Speaker 3: I know they have up there. Bronco is to me,
- 1:36Speaker 3: one of the best in the, in the profession, um,
- 1:39Speaker 3: at establishing that just a great leader of men and
- 1:42Speaker 3: was fortunate enough to work with him for a year.
- 1:44Speaker 3: And then, and then even understanding, um, Nick how a
- 1:47Speaker 3: little bit, you know, never game plan for when, um, necessarily, but, uh,
- 1:52Speaker 3: Got to see how he runs his defense and just
- 1:54Speaker 3: can't say enough about Nick Howell. He's an unbelievable defense
- 1:59Speaker 3: coordinator and had those guys ready to play. I knew
- 2:04Speaker 3: they would be, but had a good plan for us
- 2:07Speaker 3: that made some things happen. difficult as, as, as we
- 2:10Speaker 3: went along, they were making a certain everything, but, but
- 2:12Speaker 3: glad we were able to come out of it with
- 2:14Speaker 3: a win.
- 2:15Speaker 2: You did come out of it with a win and
- 2:16Speaker 2: obviously you had a nice, a good, strong start to
- 2:19Speaker 2: this game. Got on the board early and, you know,
- 2:22Speaker 2: 16 points in the first quarter, 10 in the second quarter.
- 2:25Speaker 2: We'll get to the second half here in just a second,
- 2:27Speaker 2: but the sort of hot start, a successful first drive,
- 2:31Speaker 2: the scoring drive and all that, did you feel like
- 2:35Speaker 2: it went sort of according to plan? Were you getting
- 2:38Speaker 2: any looks that you didn't expect, and did you have
- 2:39Speaker 2: to adjust on the fly, or was that early script
- 2:43Speaker 2: kind of according to what you hoped it would be?
- 2:46Speaker 3: Yeah, I think early on kind of going as planned,
- 2:49Speaker 3: but there were some things in there that were even
- 2:52Speaker 3: within the first drive and subsequent drives in the first
- 2:56Speaker 3: half where we had gotten off schedule a little bit,
- 2:58Speaker 3: because I think even that first score might've been on
- 3:00Speaker 3: the third down, like a third and long. And so,
- 3:03Speaker 3: you know, that part of it where you're able to
- 3:05Speaker 3: capitalize in the third down situation, but even getting to
- 3:09Speaker 3: that point and kind of been atypical thus far because
- 3:13Speaker 3: we were in third down a lot more in this
- 3:16Speaker 3: game than we had been in the previous games. And
- 3:19Speaker 3: so there were some things in there definitely that we
- 3:20Speaker 3: had to earn and getting off schedule a little bit
- 3:23Speaker 3: where that's not typically where, you know, now you're going
- 3:26Speaker 3: to the situational menu and it's not necessarily on schedule
- 3:29Speaker 3: or on script, you know, when things are going really,
- 3:33Speaker 3: really well and it's just– First down, second down, first down,
- 3:36Speaker 3: you know, and not getting to those situations, then it's
- 3:39Speaker 3: a little bit easier for the game plan to unfold.
- 3:43Speaker 2: Braden Pagan had a monster game as he's shown us.
- 3:46Speaker 2: He's very capable of doing eight catches, 122 yards, a
- 3:49Speaker 2: couple of touchdowns. And of course it's against his former
- 3:53Speaker 2: team and, you know, former teammates and things like that.
- 3:56Speaker 2: And it seemed like there was mostly friendly banter going
- 3:58Speaker 2: back and forth, but was this, you know, was that
- 4:03Speaker 2: part of the game plan coming in? I, I, I don't,
- 4:05Speaker 2: I don't picture like, Oh, let's go out and make
- 4:07Speaker 2: sure Braden Pagan gets extra work against the Aggies.
- 4:11Speaker 4: But man, he really went off.
- 4:13Speaker 3: Yeah, no, I, I think, I think you said it,
- 4:15Speaker 3: you know, BP is a, is a focal point of
- 4:19Speaker 3: the offense, you know, but it, it's kind of one
- 4:21Speaker 3: of those things where you can get off track with,
- 4:24Speaker 3: with a lot of the guys we have, you can
- 4:25Speaker 3: get off track a little bit in, in terms of
- 4:28Speaker 3: who is getting touches and opportunities. You, you, you really
- 4:31Speaker 3: like to see the distribution and I've been pleased with
- 4:33Speaker 3: that up to this point that a lot of guys
- 4:35Speaker 3: have gotten opportunities, you know, either receivers getting targets or
- 4:39Speaker 3: guys getting carries in different ways. And, and things like that. But,
- 4:43Speaker 3: you know, and so in the last game, you know,
- 4:45Speaker 3: there weren't as many that went deep his way. And,
- 4:48Speaker 3: and so, you know, it wasn't, it was nice to
- 4:51Speaker 3: see him get in some isolated situations. There was, there
- 4:54Speaker 3: was an intent there, I think, based on some of,
- 4:58Speaker 3: some of the looks that we were seeing in terms
- 5:00Speaker 3: of getting him access throws that, you know, we could
- 5:02Speaker 3: throw underneath them and kind of buy our time a
- 5:04Speaker 3: little bit to, to be able to create some opportunities
- 5:06Speaker 3: for him to, you know, throw the ball, push the
- 5:09Speaker 3: ball down the field on some verticals and things like that.
- 5:11Speaker 3: But we're able to get him involved in some ways with,
- 5:14Speaker 3: with access throws off, off of different looks that they
- 5:18Speaker 3: got him involved early. So, and I know he was,
- 5:20Speaker 3: he was very motivated to do so.
- 5:23Speaker 2: The, your defense obviously played incredibly well. Also when you
- 5:28Speaker 2: blank an opponent, it hasn't happened against an FBS opponent
- 5:31Speaker 2: at the university of Utah or since 2019, and you
- 5:34Speaker 2: guys were able to pull that off. When the defense
- 5:37Speaker 2: is humming that way and stopping the opposition for putting
- 5:40Speaker 2: any points on the board or even getting across midfield
- 5:43Speaker 2: in a couple of situations, how much does it do
- 5:46Speaker 2: for you in play calling?
- 5:48Speaker 3: Yeah, I think there is a comfortability when your defense
- 5:55Speaker 3: is playing that well, and it's so fun to, even
- 5:58Speaker 3: sometimes between series, I catch myself just kind of looking
- 6:03Speaker 3: up at the defense and watching them when I probably
- 6:05Speaker 3: should be like planning, planning the next drive, but just, um,
- 6:10Speaker 3: you know, the, the culture that we, that we have
- 6:12Speaker 3: and the way, the way our, our defense plays, the
- 6:14Speaker 3: way coach Swanee calls it and the aggressiveness it's, it's really,
- 6:19Speaker 3: really fun to watch. Um, and there is a comfort
- 6:22Speaker 3: level there. I don't ever want to put myself in
- 6:24Speaker 3: a position where you feel like you're having to rely
- 6:25Speaker 3: on the defense, but But knowing that the defense is
- 6:28Speaker 3: playing well and if you get into a situation where
- 6:31Speaker 3: now you're playing a little bit of field position battle,
- 6:35Speaker 3: things like that. But I think there's always an intent
- 6:37Speaker 3: to play complementary football based on... what's happening with the
- 6:43Speaker 3: defense and, and, and what you got to do offensively
- 6:45Speaker 3: just to ensure wins, you know, sometimes to ensure situations
- 6:50Speaker 3: where they can, they can stay off the field a
- 6:52Speaker 3: little bit, but you know, when they're out there and,
- 6:54Speaker 3: you know, they're getting on and off early, you feel
- 6:56Speaker 3: like you can be pretty aggressive.
- 6:59Speaker 2: You were able to bust a couple of big runs,
- 7:01Speaker 2: obviously Daniel Bray's long one stands way. Sean Parker gets
- 7:06Speaker 2: called back, which what a heartbreaker. But then, you know,
- 7:09Speaker 2: it was like it was some tough work to gain
- 7:11Speaker 2: yards on the ground as we thought it might be
- 7:13Speaker 2: against this Utah State defense. Now that you've had a
- 7:15Speaker 2: chance to look back at the film, what do you
- 7:18Speaker 2: guys need to do to be a little bit more
- 7:20Speaker 2: efficient running the ball, especially between the tackles? And maybe
- 7:24Speaker 2: what what is the plan moving forward against an Iowa
- 7:27Speaker 2: State defense that is obviously going to have watched this
- 7:30Speaker 2: film also?
- 7:31Speaker 3: Yeah, I think it was I think it was good
- 7:34Speaker 3: preparation in terms of the again, I had mentioned it
- 7:37Speaker 3: the the culture that I know Utah state has and
- 7:40Speaker 3: the physicality that they play with. And especially those, those guys.
- 7:44Speaker 3: up front and in the box, but they, but even
- 7:46Speaker 3: their back end, I thought they did a good job,
- 7:47Speaker 3: really good job coming downhill and, and, and making open
- 7:50Speaker 3: field tackles. I thought they tackled really, really well. So,
- 7:53Speaker 3: so even when we caught a crease and got loose, um,
- 7:57Speaker 3: it wasn't necessarily going very far when it, when it
- 7:59Speaker 3: got to the third level, because these guys were, were
- 8:01Speaker 3: tackling really well. But, um, you know, I think a
- 8:03Speaker 3: lot of the issues just, um, you know, some, some
- 8:06Speaker 3: communication may be coming off late on some, some combinations, but, um,
- 8:10Speaker 3: you know, some communication on, on targeting that we've got
- 8:13Speaker 3: to get cleaned up a little bit where there were
- 8:14Speaker 3: some opportunities there were, you know, when, when you're, when
- 8:17Speaker 3: you're looking at it, just structurally where you have a,
- 8:21Speaker 3: at least an efficient run, potentially explosive runs. And, and
- 8:25Speaker 3: because of some of the communication that didn't, it didn't
- 8:27Speaker 3: go anywhere. Um, so a little bit disheartening, but things
- 8:31Speaker 3: that we got to get cleaned up that way with
- 8:32Speaker 3: our communication upfront. And then, and then just, um, you know,
- 8:36Speaker 3: I think we were physical at the point of attack
- 8:39Speaker 3: in that game. We got to finish a little bit better,
- 8:42Speaker 3: you know, cause that again, Utah state did a really
- 8:44Speaker 3: good job, you know, just shedding initial contact and then,
- 8:48Speaker 3: and then playing to the football. So we just got
- 8:50Speaker 3: to get stickier on some of those blocks.
- 8:52Speaker 2: The communication aspect, as you, you guys have been rotating
- 8:56Speaker 2: on the offensive line and that can make it difficult,
- 8:59Speaker 2: but also you want five, six, seven, eight guys to
- 9:01Speaker 2: be able to have like true starter reps and before
- 9:04Speaker 2: you solidify whatever this final five is going to be. And,
- 9:07Speaker 2: you know, there's, there's flux throughout a season based on
- 9:10Speaker 2: health and whatever else. But if you had to like
- 9:14Speaker 2: weigh out what their, the physical ability, the, you know,
- 9:17Speaker 2: like the actual gameplay and the, the smoothness in which
- 9:22Speaker 2: these guys are able to communicate the cohesiveness and in
- 9:25Speaker 2: which an individual fits into the overall group, how much
- 9:28Speaker 2: will that play into people earning a spot and maintaining
- 9:32Speaker 2: a spot on the starting offensive line?
- 9:35Speaker 3: Yeah, I think that's been a little bit of a
- 9:37Speaker 3: focal point going into this week, going into conference play,
- 9:41Speaker 3: going on the road, things like that, as opposed to
- 9:47Speaker 3: having a, having a constant rotation, you know, kind of
- 9:50Speaker 3: trying to get settled on the, the first five this
- 9:52Speaker 3: week and, and roll with those roll with those guys. But, um,
- 9:56Speaker 3: you know, it does, does make it trickier when you
- 9:59Speaker 3: have a couple guys out that you had planned on
- 10:01Speaker 3: early and then, you know, and so... you may have
- 10:05Speaker 3: a backup in there, and then you've got a backup
- 10:06Speaker 3: playing pretty well, and then all of a sudden you've
- 10:08Speaker 3: got a battle on your hands. You have someone getting healthy,
- 10:10Speaker 3: and so that's been a little bit tricky in terms
- 10:13Speaker 3: of being a little bit of a revolving door, but
- 10:16Speaker 3: I think we're working toward getting that stabilized a little bit,
- 10:19Speaker 3: and I think as we do that, seeing more chemistry
- 10:25Speaker 3: up there with guys that are giving us both physical play,
- 10:28Speaker 3: dynamic play, and and being able to communicate and gel
- 10:33Speaker 3: and have chemistry.
- 10:35Speaker 2: How is Kelvin Obot grading out, Coach, in the first
- 10:38Speaker 2: three games? Obviously, true freshman, offensive line is one of
- 10:42Speaker 2: the tougher spots to come in and be an immediate
- 10:44Speaker 2: contributor for obvious reasons. And we've seen him at guard
- 10:48Speaker 2: and also at tackle. How is he adapting to the
- 10:52Speaker 2: college game, and how is he grading out, especially in
- 10:55Speaker 2: those reps with the ones?
- 10:57Speaker 3: I think Kelvin is on a really good trajectory. Having
- 11:03Speaker 3: to be a swing guy early on as a true freshman,
- 11:09Speaker 3: that can be a little bit tricky. Even playing one
- 11:13Speaker 3: spot as a true freshman, getting in there can be difficult.
- 11:18Speaker 3: He's got the strength for it. He's got the skill
- 11:21Speaker 3: set for it. He's shown a lot of twitch and
- 11:24Speaker 3: very dynamic when he's when he's in there very explosive,
- 11:29Speaker 3: you know, when, when you see fronts that are moving
- 11:31Speaker 3: a lot. And then I think with our offense where,
- 11:33Speaker 3: you know, there's a lot of moving parts to it
- 11:35Speaker 3: where the picture can change on you a little bit,
- 11:37Speaker 3: you know, it's as, as a young player, it's a
- 11:39Speaker 3: little bit tough to, you know, be disciplined with your eyes,
- 11:42Speaker 3: just be consistent with your footwork. And, you know, you
- 11:45Speaker 3: start chasing ghosts a little bit until you have that
- 11:47Speaker 3: game experience. But I think the more and more experience
- 11:50Speaker 3: he gets with, with seeing those things, you know, cause
- 11:52Speaker 3: it's not any obvious lack of, physical capability but once
- 11:56Speaker 3: he gets used to seeing those things more and more
- 11:59Speaker 3: then he's just going to continue to get better and better.
- 12:03Speaker 2: Kevin mcgibbon is our guest here on the sean o'connell
- 12:05Speaker 2: show coordinators corner with the oc this week as they
- 12:09Speaker 2: get ready to take on iowa state in the first
- 12:11Speaker 2: conference game of the year uh you mentioned it already
- 12:14Speaker 2: it's a road game uh that changes you know the
- 12:17Speaker 2: crowd dynamic when your offense is on the field instead
- 12:20Speaker 2: of a polite silence to facilitate communication, right? There's going
- 12:24Speaker 2: to be a bunch of raucous farmers out there trying
- 12:27Speaker 2: to make it hard for Devin Dampier to communicate and
- 12:30Speaker 2: hard for the offensive line to hear claps and snap
- 12:33Speaker 2: counts and everything else.
- 12:34Speaker 4: So how do you adjust as an offensive coordinator?
- 12:38Speaker 3: You know, I think, um, There's a couple factors going
- 12:43Speaker 3: into this game. One of them could be a weather
- 12:46Speaker 3: component on Saturday that we're looking at and having to
- 12:51Speaker 3: plan for. Once you're not at home and all of
- 12:55Speaker 3: a sudden the crowd is against you, I think one
- 12:57Speaker 3: thing is, is that our, our culture has to continue
- 13:00Speaker 3: to show up, um, going on the road, but then
- 13:03Speaker 3: just your, your focus and, and, and your discipline, especially
- 13:06Speaker 3: if you get in situations where you may need to
- 13:08Speaker 3: be on a, on a silent count and things like that,
- 13:11Speaker 3: where you're working on that throughout the week. But again,
- 13:14Speaker 3: when there's a lot of pre-snap movement to your offense, um,
- 13:18Speaker 3: you know, that, you know, the, the timing elements involved
- 13:22Speaker 3: with that take, take a lot of work. And so
- 13:24Speaker 3: spending some time on those things, um, this week for,
- 13:28Speaker 3: you know, whatever we could be up against in that game.
- 13:32Speaker 2: Does the Kevin McGiven playbook change in any meaningful way
- 13:36Speaker 2: if it's a wet game?
- 13:40Speaker 3: You know, I've always kind of approached those, you know,
- 13:45Speaker 3: we're in here and we put a plan together to
- 13:49Speaker 3: attack the defense first and foremost and not necessarily attack
- 13:54Speaker 3: or compensate for the weather. You have to have that
- 13:56Speaker 3: in the back of your mind and as a, as
- 13:57Speaker 3: a plan, but I usually like to go into those
- 13:59Speaker 3: things and, and try to let the plan unfold until
- 14:03Speaker 3: the weather tells you that you can't and, and you're
- 14:06Speaker 3: having issues with that, with those things. And then, and
- 14:09Speaker 3: then start to make the adjustments, you know, to whatever,
- 14:12Speaker 3: whatever plan B is at that point. But until, until,
- 14:16Speaker 3: Until that becomes a factor, you know, going in with
- 14:19Speaker 3: the mentality that we're going to try to let the
- 14:20Speaker 3: plan unfold.
- 14:23Speaker 2: Before we let you go, just another minute or two
- 14:25Speaker 2: here with Kevin McGiven. I want to talk about, you know,
- 14:27Speaker 2: when you have this embarrassment of riches and all these
- 14:29Speaker 2: potential weapons, I want to talk about what these guys
- 14:32Speaker 2: are doing for you or have to do for you
- 14:34Speaker 2: without the ball in their hand. Devin Dampier was in
- 14:38Speaker 2: here and we talked about how way Sean Parker, this
- 14:41Speaker 2: was not a game against Utah state where, you know,
- 14:44Speaker 2: he was, He was as productive on the stat sheet
- 14:47Speaker 2: as maybe he would like to be, you guys would
- 14:49Speaker 2: like him to be. But we got like this huge
- 14:52Speaker 2: highlight reel block out of him coming back across the
- 14:55Speaker 2: formation and just planting a rusher.
- 14:58Speaker 4: I mean, it was a great hit.
- 15:00Speaker 2: And Devin kept saying like, man, he does really great
- 15:03Speaker 2: things even when he doesn't have the ball in his hands.
- 15:06Speaker 2: And I imagine that's important for everyone so that they
- 15:09Speaker 2: can get the ball in their hands.
- 15:11Speaker 4: They can earn the opportunity. No block, no rock, as
- 15:14Speaker 4: you coaches like to say, right.
- 15:15Speaker 2: But I just wanted to give you a little space
- 15:17Speaker 2: to talk about guys like way, Sean, when they're not
- 15:20Speaker 2: getting 30 touches a game, how they're still contributing.
- 15:25Speaker 3: Yeah. And that, that can be a, that can be
- 15:27Speaker 3: a frustrating, frustrating part of it. And again, something that, that,
- 15:35Speaker 3: we have to pay attention to. I have to pay
- 15:36Speaker 3: attention to because when you're playing option football, like we've
- 15:42Speaker 3: talked about before, the ball can be distributed and then
- 15:44Speaker 3: you lose. Sometimes you lose track of those things based on,
- 15:47Speaker 3: you know, quarterback decision-making or what the defense is giving you.
- 15:52Speaker 3: And so, you know, you can end up taking opportunities
- 15:54Speaker 3: out of, out of guys hands where, you know, we
- 15:56Speaker 3: weren't able to get him quite as much involved in
- 15:58Speaker 3: the past game as, as we had in previous weeks.
- 16:02Speaker 3: And then, and then some of the carries, you know, we're,
- 16:05Speaker 3: we're a little more sparse, but then he took it
- 16:08Speaker 3: upon himself to make an impact. And so, you know,
- 16:10Speaker 3: as a, as a captain and a leader of our team,
- 16:13Speaker 3: you know, it's not just leading by example, but just
- 16:15Speaker 3: the fact that he immediately goes there, how, you know, how,
- 16:19Speaker 3: you know, how can I impact this team and, and,
- 16:22Speaker 3: you know, whatever my, whatever my role has to be.
- 16:25Speaker 3: And then, and so you just see him start doing
- 16:27Speaker 3: things that are, you know, quite frankly, not, I wouldn't
- 16:32Speaker 3: say they're normal unless you have a really vibrant culture.
- 16:35Speaker 3: And if you have a player that takes it upon
- 16:38Speaker 3: themselves to be unselfish like that, but, but I think
- 16:40Speaker 3: that's something that you're seeing infiltrate the program because you
- 16:44Speaker 3: see with receivers more and more down the field, the
- 16:47Speaker 3: one that Daniel Bray broke, we had multiple guys that
- 16:50Speaker 3: were sprinting to get out in front of that thing and,
- 16:52Speaker 3: and you know, just getting guys away or make, make blocks.
- 16:55Speaker 3: You had Ricky Johnson spring him. You had, Braden Payton's
- 17:00Speaker 3: friend down the field, he had bird off of a
- 17:04Speaker 3: jet action over the top that was sprinting downfield and
- 17:07Speaker 3: got to the party. And so that was a really
- 17:09Speaker 3: good picture as well. But you're seeing that continually with
- 17:12Speaker 3: receivers blocking downfield, with the offensive line breaking the stack
- 17:15Speaker 3: to get to the pile. And so that's one of
- 17:18Speaker 3: the things I've been really pleased with in the first
- 17:20Speaker 3: three games is just seeing that culture show up and
- 17:22Speaker 3: guys take it upon themselves to do that and play
- 17:25Speaker 3: without the football.
- 17:26Speaker 2: The last thing before we let you go, we're trying
- 17:28Speaker 2: to come up with a clever name for your two
- 17:30Speaker 2: quarterback system. And McDouble was one of the options because
- 17:35Speaker 2: it's McGiven's two quarterback system.
- 17:37Speaker 4: What do you think of McDouble?
- 17:40Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 17:40Speaker 3: Take, take, take that and run and run with it. Whatever,
- 17:45Speaker 3: whatever you want to do. I mean, when I think
- 17:46Speaker 3: of McDouble, I, you know, think of going to get
- 17:48Speaker 3: the double cheeseburger.
- 17:50Speaker 4: Well, yeah, I think it evokes that for all of us.
- 17:52Speaker 2: So it's like, Maybe not appropriate for two premium athletes,
- 17:57Speaker 2: but they don't have to sign off on it.
- 17:59Speaker 3: You do. Yeah, we haven't quite named it yet. We
- 18:04Speaker 3: have our different personnel package names and stuff like that,
- 18:07Speaker 3: but they haven't really quite named that yet. But it's
- 18:10Speaker 3: been fun to try to come up with stuff.
- 18:13Speaker 2: So there's not one name for it in the playbook, like, hey,
- 18:16Speaker 2: Bird and Devin are both on the field. It's not
- 18:18Speaker 2: like Jumbo or the equivalent thereof.
- 18:22Speaker 3: You know, so, so, um, I, so I will give
- 18:24Speaker 3: you the, I mean, just because of bird, you know,
- 18:26Speaker 3: and then there's those, there's a hawk group and there's
- 18:28Speaker 3: the talent group and, and, you know, so it's based
- 18:31Speaker 3: on the other people that are on the field with them. Um,
- 18:34Speaker 3: you know, but kind of those bird terms when he's
- 18:36Speaker 3: out there on the field that, um, that we've adopted
- 18:39Speaker 3: a little bit. All right.
- 18:40Speaker 4: I like it.
- 18:41Speaker 2: We were brainstorming last week and there was a lot of,
- 18:43Speaker 2: what do we call this thing? There was a lot of, Hey,
- 18:45Speaker 2: we'll call it, let's call it the spider Hawk because
- 18:47Speaker 2: of Let's call it, you know, we can't, someone came on.
- 18:51Speaker 2: This one was, I think my favorite, someone came in
- 18:53Speaker 2: and they said, well, call it the 50 cent or
- 18:55Speaker 2: the half dollar offense.
- 18:56Speaker 4: Cause it's two quarters. It's two quarterbacks, you know?
- 18:58Speaker 3: Oh yeah.
- 18:59Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 18:59Speaker 3: People are getting creative with that. But yeah, it's, but,
- 19:06Speaker 3: but it is interesting. Cause I think a lot of times,
- 19:08Speaker 3: even when we go into a game plan, we don't
- 19:09Speaker 3: even have a name for something. And so it's just
- 19:11Speaker 3: like created. And so all of a sudden we have
- 19:13Speaker 3: to just come up with a name. Yeah.
- 19:16Speaker 2: Well, we're not good at calling the plays, but we're
- 19:19Speaker 2: going to help you brainstorm with what to call stuff
- 19:21Speaker 2: if you need.
- 19:22Speaker 4: Any help on that, all right?
- 19:23Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, absolutely. I'll call in next time I'm searching
- 19:26Speaker 3: for sure.
- 19:27Speaker 4: Coach, appreciate your time. Good luck on the road. We'll
- 19:30Speaker 4: chat again soon.
- 19:30Speaker 3: Okay, sounds good. I appreciate it.
