- 0:19Speaker 1: and Christine from Light FM Radio. Good morning, how are
- 0:22Speaker 1: you guys?
- 0:23Speaker 2: Good morning, Ms. Romano. We're doing well. How about you?
- 0:25Speaker 1: I'm doing great. So... We have a question for you.
- 0:28Speaker 1: Who is Brianna Sherry? She is one of my coworkers
- 0:33Speaker 1: at Meadow Elementary where I work. All right.
- 0:36Speaker 2: Well, apparently Brianna thinks the world of you.
- 0:39Speaker 1: Yeah, I don't know if you know this or not,
- 0:40Speaker 1: but here at Light FM, we are encouraging listeners to
- 0:43Speaker 1: go to our website and nominate a teacher doing great things.
- 0:48Speaker 1: And Brianna wrote an incredible email about you, Ms. Romano.
- 0:52Speaker 1: Do you want to hear some of it or are
- 0:53Speaker 1: you going to blush? I might blush, but I would
- 0:57Speaker 1: like to.
- 0:58Speaker 2: Okay.
- 0:58Speaker 1: Well, it's amazing. It kicks off with Miss Romano is
- 1:01Speaker 1: someone who truly cares about making a difference for her students,
- 1:04Speaker 1: especially students on the autism spectrum. She has dedicated so
- 1:09Speaker 1: much of her time to helping them work through behavioral
- 1:12Speaker 1: challenges and develop social skills so they can better communicate,
- 1:16Speaker 1: express themselves. and connect with others. And that's just the
- 1:19Speaker 1: first paragraph, Christine.
- 1:20Speaker 2: Yes. She also says what stands out about Ms. Romano
- 1:24Speaker 2: is that her work goes beyond what's required of her.
- 1:27Speaker 2: She's always thinking of new ways to support her students
- 1:29Speaker 2: and making the school a better place for them. She's
- 1:32Speaker 2: worked with local businesses to collect donations and organize raffles
- 1:36Speaker 2: to raise money for a playground that better meets the
- 1:38Speaker 2: sensory needs of the students. And she has started a
- 1:42Speaker 2: buddy program to help create a more inclusive school community
- 1:44Speaker 2: that and give students more opportunities to build friendships and
- 1:48Speaker 2: connections with one another.
- 1:49Speaker 1: All right. How are you feeling? Are you holding up? Yeah,
- 1:52Speaker 1: that's very sweet. It is beautiful. And it wraps up
- 1:55Speaker 1: with this. Brianna went on to say that Ms. Romano
- 1:58Speaker 1: puts so much thought, time, and heart into the students
- 2:01Speaker 1: she works with. She sees what they need and does
- 2:04Speaker 1: everything she can to help provide it. Her dedication to
- 2:07Speaker 1: making sure every student feels included, supported, and understood is
- 2:11Speaker 1: what makes her so deserving of this recognition. Danielle Romano,
- 2:16Speaker 1: school psychologist, Meadow School, where you are right now, which
- 2:20Speaker 1: is located exactly where? In Baldwin on Long Island. Okay. Well,
- 2:25Speaker 1: any words? What do you have to say about what
- 2:27Speaker 1: Brianna wrote? It's got me tearing up. It's very sweet
- 2:30Speaker 1: because obviously, you know, you don't do this job for
- 2:33Speaker 1: the thank yous, but it is a very thankless job
- 2:35Speaker 1: when many of your students can't speak. So it's just
- 2:39Speaker 1: nice to know that somebody sees what we're doing here.
- 2:42Speaker 2: Oh, you are definitely seen, heard, and appreciated so, so much.
- 2:47Speaker 2: And Light FM has been wanting to celebrate teachers and
- 2:51Speaker 2: faculty members who are making each student's day brighter. And
- 2:55Speaker 2: this month, that is you, Ms. Romano. Oh, my goodness.
- 3:00Speaker 1: Thank you guys so much. So what we're going to
- 3:02Speaker 1: do in June, when the school year is over, we're
- 3:04Speaker 1: going to celebrate with you and a bunch of other teachers,
- 3:08Speaker 1: along with me, Christine, producer Kristen. We have an unforgettable
- 3:12Speaker 1: three-night Florida getaway for you. You're going to relax at
- 3:14Speaker 1: Margaritaville Hollywood Beach, explore the Everglades with Sawgrass Recreation Park,
- 3:19Speaker 1: and cruise Fort Lauderdale with Fort Lauderdale Water Taxi.
- 3:23Speaker 2: Oh, my goodness.
- 3:24Speaker 1: Thank you guys so much.
- 3:25Speaker 2: Thank you for all you do, and congratulations. And I
- 3:28Speaker 2: know June feels far off, but it'll be here sooner
- 3:31Speaker 2: than we know.
- 3:31Speaker 1: We said that last year.
- 3:32Speaker 2: We can celebrate together.
- 3:33Speaker 1: Boom, it came. I know.
- 3:34Speaker 2: I know. Yes.
- 3:35Speaker 1: So thank you so much. Thank you. It's genuinely an honor.
- 3:39Speaker 1: I appreciate it. Thank you. And we love helping a
