- 0:24Sean McAllister: Also, the numbers are in for November when it comes to gaming.
- 0:28Dayna Roselli: Our Vegas tips are back for season five.
- 0:31Sean McAllister: And so are our sponsors: Hotworks, Infrared Fitness Studios, More Workout, Less Time, and the Vegas Near Me app.
- 0:40Sean McAllister: If it's fun to do or see, it's on Vegas Near Me.
- 0:44Dayna Roselli: Let's get going and spin that wheel.
- 0:52Dayna Roselli: Welcome everyone to episode 200 of Vegas Revealed as we kick off 2024 with season five.
- 1:00Dayna Roselli: Dana Roselli and Sean McAllister here, back with you again.
- 1:05Sean McAllister: Welcome to Vegas Revealed.
- 1:07Sean McAllister: Welcome to 2024.
- 1:09Sean McAllister: Uh, and welcome to uh the new listeners that we have.
- 1:12Sean McAllister: We've uh I know that we've grown over uh 2023 and we've got a lot of new ears, a lot of new listeners.
- 1:20Sean McAllister: We thank you for joining us.
- 1:21Sean McAllister: Um, thank you to our longtime listeners as well.
- 1:25Sean McAllister: Um, but for people who are just tuning in for the first time, we kind of want to reintroduce ourselves and the show.
- 1:32Dayna Roselli: That's right.
- 1:33Dayna Roselli: We actually started this podcast in 2020, and you know, it was kind of before podcasts really took off.
- 1:38Dayna Roselli: They were starting to take off, but we were kind of glad that we got on board early on.
- 1:43Dayna Roselli: Um, and we've been doing it ever since, every week.
- 1:45Dayna Roselli: I mean, I think we've taken like a week or two off each year.
- 1:49Dayna Roselli: That's about it from the podcast, anyway.
- 1:51Dayna Roselli: Um, so I mean, we have been dedicated in doing this.
- 1:54Dayna Roselli: We love it.
- 1:55Dayna Roselli: Both of us have had a long uh career in television and uh broadcasting, and a lot of that has been here in Las Vegas.
- 2:04Dayna Roselli: I'm actually going into uh, well, going into 2024, it'll be 20 years that I've lived here in Las Vegas.
- 2:09Dayna Roselli: How about you?
- 2:10Sean McAllister: And for me, it'll be 19 years.
- 2:11Sean McAllister: Yeah, I'm just behind you.
- 2:13Sean McAllister: Right.
- 2:13Sean McAllister: Um, and we've had long careers, as Dana mentioned, uh, in broadcasting, uh covering news, entertainment, lifestyle.
- 2:22Sean McAllister: Uh, and that's given us some unique perspectives, insights, and contacts across Las Vegas over the years.
- 2:29Dayna Roselli: Yeah, it's so true.
- 2:30Dayna Roselli: You know, the variety of things we've done, right?
- 2:32Dayna Roselli: You know, like I've done traffic and breaking news and and news anchoring and entertainment.
- 2:37Dayna Roselli: And I know you've done, you know, lifestyle and entertainment, and you've worked all the really big red carpets through the years for the big award shows and interviewed so many incredible people.
- 2:48Dayna Roselli: So combining all of that, you're right.
- 2:50Dayna Roselli: We know a lot of people, we we get a lot of information.
- 2:52Dayna Roselli: We love, you know, um sharing, sharing information that is useful to people who live here and also who come to visit here.
- 3:02Dayna Roselli: Or if you're just curious about Las Vegas, maybe you're not even visiting, but you have this fascination that you you you love Las Vegas and you just want to listen to a podcast about it, we're for you.
- 3:11Sean McAllister: And uh the reason that Dana has been here for 20 years and that I have been here for 19 years is because we are passionate about Las Vegas.
- 3:20Sean McAllister: And here on Vegas Revealed, we like to share that passion about the city we love.
- 3:25Sean McAllister: Right.
- 3:25Dayna Roselli: It's so true.
- 3:26Dayna Roselli: Sean and I started our own company.
- 3:28Dayna Roselli: We've been friends a long time.
- 3:29Dayna Roselli: In 2020, we also started a company called Insightful Media where we do media training and storytelling videos.
- 3:36Dayna Roselli: We get hired to host things on air in front of the camera, and we also MC events.
- 3:42Dayna Roselli: So if anyone needs some MCs for an event, we've done everything from a 70th birthday party at the Palms to, you know, the Ronald McDonald House charity gala for the year, the fundraiser.
- 3:54Dayna Roselli: Uh, we do a lot of different varieties of things, the 50th anniversary for the Hard Rock Cafe.
- 3:59Dayna Roselli: And so if you need MCs, we love doing it.
- 4:02Dayna Roselli: It's all part of our business.
- 4:03Dayna Roselli: We media consult and do a number of things like that.
- 4:06Sean McAllister: So that's a little reintroduction into ourselves and to Vegas Reveal.
- 4:10Sean McAllister: Then coming up uh a little later in the show, uh, we have some exciting opportunities that have come our way in 2024, and we'll get into that.
- 4:19Dayna Roselli: Yes.
- 4:20Dayna Roselli: All right, Sean, let's talk about what you did for New Year's Eve.
- 4:24Sean McAllister: So uh I went with uh a couple friends uh to the Bootlegger Bistro, which is on South Las Vegas Boulevard.
- 4:32Sean McAllister: It's a total old school Las Vegas vibe.
- 4:35Sean McAllister: Live entertainment.
- 4:36Sean McAllister: There was a harpist who was in there playing for New Year's Eve.
- 4:40Sean McAllister: Their uh their regular musician was off on holiday, so they brought in a harpist who was playing some good music during dinner.
- 4:49Sean McAllister: We had some good classic uh Italian dishes for dinner, uh, an incredible server named uh Mark Z.
- 5:00Sean McAllister: If you go to Bootlegger Bistro, ask for Mark Z.
- 5:04Sean McAllister: They have a lot of great servers, but Mark really made our uh experience very enjoyable and memorable, and we're going back and we're requesting him again.
- 5:14Sean McAllister: Um, but it's a great spot.
- 5:15Sean McAllister: I haven't been there in so long, and it was great to be back.
- 5:18Dayna Roselli: Yeah, the old school vibe is always good, right?
- 5:20Dayna Roselli: When you know you go to Vegas.
- 5:22Dayna Roselli: We have such new up-and-coming restaurants and you know, celebrity chefs own restaurants here and all sorts of glamour on the strip.
- 5:29Dayna Roselli: But every now and then it's good to go to one of the old school spots because that is part of Las Vegas as well.
- 5:34Sean McAllister: It is.
- 5:35Sean McAllister: Yeah, it is.
- 5:36Sean McAllister: Lorraine Huntbono, who was a um uh strip entertainer for years and then became lieutenant governor of the state of Nevada, uh, she runs the place.
- 5:47Dayna Roselli: She does.
- 5:48Dayna Roselli: I've seen her there before, too.
- 5:49Dayna Roselli: Yeah, she makes her little appearances, she's there often.
- 5:51Sean McAllister: Yeah, the whole family is.
- 5:53Dayna Roselli: Yeah.
- 5:53Sean McAllister: And so, yeah, there's always live music, always events happening.
- 5:56Sean McAllister: It's a great spot.
- 5:57Sean McAllister: Check out bootlegger bistro.
- 5:59Dayna Roselli: Yeah, and it's uh just like near Town Square, if you know where that is, if you ever come into Vegas.
- 6:04Dayna Roselli: It's somewhat near there, closer to Town Square than it is, you know, up toward the strip.
- 6:08Sean McAllister: Yeah, yeah.
- 6:08Sean McAllister: Uh, what did you do for New Year's Eve?
- 6:10Dayna Roselli: So I went to the Fountain Blue, which is great because it's right around the corner.
- 6:13Dayna Roselli: You know, I told you I'm probably gonna frequent there a lot because it's simple.
- 6:17Dayna Roselli: And when I was thinking the strip's closed, we were gonna go somewhere else, and we thought I just don't want to be in the heart of it because if I can stick closer to home, that's always good.
- 6:25Dayna Roselli: So uh me and my friend who live in my building as well, I live in a high rise.
- 6:29Dayna Roselli: Um, we decided to go to Fountain Blue for dinner, and then we figured we would just kind of hang out there for a while and then maybe step out and watch the fireworks.
- 6:37Dayna Roselli: So I did.
- 6:37Dayna Roselli: I went to Fountain Blue and I went to Komodo, which is amazing.
- 6:41Dayna Roselli: I had gone there for a drink and like on a little snack one night, like a weekend before, and I really loved one of the dishes that we had just sitting at the bar.
- 6:48Dayna Roselli: So I was like, we need to eat here.
- 6:50Dayna Roselli: So it was great.
- 6:51Dayna Roselli: The general manager Nick was helpful.
- 6:52Dayna Roselli: He got us a seat and a table right in the front area.
- 6:56Dayna Roselli: They play great music.
- 6:57Dayna Roselli: I love the playlist there.
- 6:59Dayna Roselli: If you love a little Michael Jackson, Prince, Whitney Houston, Gloria Estefan, they have that kind of music there, which I love because I don't like places that play like house music and all that kind of thing.
- 7:12Dayna Roselli: So it is a little elevated, like you'll hear the music's up there, but you can still have conversation.
- 7:17Dayna Roselli: It's darker, it's a beautiful restaurant.
- 7:19Dayna Roselli: Um, I highly recommend the spicy filet was delicious.
- 7:26Dayna Roselli: The crispy eggplant was out of this world.
- 7:28Dayna Roselli: It was a side dish.
- 7:29Dayna Roselli: It was amazing.
- 7:31Dayna Roselli: And the mushroom lomain was incredible as well.
- 7:34Dayna Roselli: Um, those were just like three of my favorites, but really everything was good.
- 7:38Dayna Roselli: I loved it.
- 7:38Dayna Roselli: We had such a great time.
- 7:39Dayna Roselli: We actually ended up like sitting there for like three hours.
- 7:42Dayna Roselli: We also went for a drink at the bar because my friend Denise Valdez met us there to begin with, because she was eating with other friends in the room.
- 7:48Dayna Roselli: So it was a, and I've gone there before.
- 7:50Dayna Roselli: I've seen the Raiders coach there dining.
- 7:52Dayna Roselli: Like it's a who's who uh at Komodo.
- 7:55Dayna Roselli: It's it's popular in Miami and one other place too, and I can't think of where Chicago.
- 7:58Dayna Roselli: I don't know, can't remember.
- 7:59Sean McAllister: Well, in Komodo, that's one of the restaurants that's not down just off of the casino floor.
- 8:04Sean McAllister: It's actually up on the second level, right?
- 8:07Dayna Roselli: Right, and it's right near the, and I don't want to call it a food court.
- 8:09Dayna Roselli: What do they call them now?
- 8:10Dayna Roselli: Food halls.
- 8:11Sean McAllister: A food hall.
- 8:11Dayna Roselli: Food, it's right near the food hall.
- 8:13Sean McAllister: But they call it like the promenade.
- 8:15Dayna Roselli: Canteen.
- 8:15Dayna Roselli: Oh, yeah, promenade.
- 8:16Dayna Roselli: You're right.
- 8:17Dayna Roselli: Oh gosh, we're gonna get in trouble there.
- 8:18Dayna Roselli: But hey, we're we're still learning the fountain blue lingo.
- 8:21Dayna Roselli: But it's new.
- 8:22Dayna Roselli: Yeah, you literally go to the top of the escalator and turn right, and it's right there.
- 8:26Dayna Roselli: So I really enjoyed it.
- 8:28Dayna Roselli: After that, we stepped out, we watched the fireworks, and I must say the stratosphere fireworks were gorgeous this year.
- 8:33Dayna Roselli: Really cool.
- 8:34Dayna Roselli: Um, they usually are, but it kind of looks like this big sparkler, you know, it's just really cool.
- 8:38Dayna Roselli: We were standing at the bottom of the fountain blue, so I was looking up, and it was cool to see fireworks coming off the fountain blue, but I was, you know, when you're when you're at the property, you can't really see the property's fireworks.
- 8:50Dayna Roselli: So I was looking across the street to Resorts World and then back toward the strat.
- 8:54Sean McAllister: But the good news is that Vegas Revealed gave you a prime view of uh Fountain Blue's inaugural New Year's Eve firework display on our Vegas Revealed YouTube channel.
- 9:07Sean McAllister: It was a live look from the Vegas Revealed Sky Deck.
- 9:10Sean McAllister: That's right.
- 9:12Dayna Roselli: We set her all up before we went out, and um it was great because we just live streamed for like five hours until midnight.
- 9:19Dayna Roselli: And then when midnight hit, I actually was standing at the Fountain Blue and I clicked and looked at our YouTube link and I was like, darn, that's a good shot.
- 9:27Dayna Roselli: Like it was great.
- 9:28Dayna Roselli: And then you actually cut off just that portion when the fireworks um took off and put it on our YouTube as well.
- 9:34Dayna Roselli: So you can either watch the live stream if you want to go back and see, or we have just the video of the fireworks portion, the eight-minute display off the Fountain Blue, and it's a big deal because it was the first time the Fountain Blue was part of the Las Vegas New Year's Eve fireworks.
- 9:47Sean McAllister: And people were commenting that uh at the end of the fireworks show, you know, when the smoke is lingering in the sky, uh that it looked really cool.
- 9:57Sean McAllister: Yeah.
- 9:57Sean McAllister: Uh the lights that go across the top of Fountain Blue, they're you know, this nice rich blue, yeah, kind of color, and it just kind of reflected off those clouds and the smoke.
- 10:10Sean McAllister: And it did it looked really it looked neat.
- 10:15Dayna Roselli: It did, it did, it looked really neat.
- 10:16Dayna Roselli: So I love that.
- 10:18Dayna Roselli: You don't realize those things until the first happens, right?
- 10:20Dayna Roselli: Yeah, it's like never thought of it, you know.
- 10:23Dayna Roselli: And that'll be interesting too, like when we had that first low ceiling cloudy day, which could be today when we're recording at night, because we always see like the Luxor light hit or the MGM grand, the green hue of the clouds.
- 10:35Dayna Roselli: So I'm wondering now if the clouds will be that fountain blue, blue.
- 10:38Sean McAllister: Yeah, and where where I live, I look down toward the look down the street toward the strip, and I see uh the sphere, the colors of the sphere lighting up the clouds when we have a low cloud ceiling here in Las Vegas.
- 10:52Dayna Roselli: Yeah, it's a year of first, let me tell you.
- 10:54Dayna Roselli: We have a lot of new things to look at, right?
- 10:56Dayna Roselli: On depending on the weather.
- 10:57Dayna Roselli: So that was cool.
- 10:58Dayna Roselli: I had a great New Year's Eve.
- 10:59Dayna Roselli: I thought it was good.
- 11:00Dayna Roselli: It seems like everything was safe and sound and strip, uh, everything went off, you know, just just fine.
- 11:06Dayna Roselli: It was great.
- 11:07Sean McAllister: And uh as we look forward to uh 2024 here throughout this episode, we want to quickly do a little rewind because one of the big events at the end of 2023, of course, was Formula One.
- 11:22Sean McAllister: And people were wondering when the numbers come out, will F one have been worth it for the city of Las Vegas?
- 11:30Sean McAllister: And we have those numbers now, and we know.
- 11:34Sean McAllister: Right.
- 11:34Dayna Roselli: We know, finally, right?
- 11:37Dayna Roselli: Um, yeah, so you know, I mean, obviously the strip, you know, portion, people were during the week of F1 or the weekend saying, Oh, the the hotels are empty, and oh look, I've never seen the casino floor so empty, and look, the slot machines are dead.
- 11:52Dayna Roselli: Well, yeah, it looks like the slot machines um were not as busy as normal, but it looks like the high roller rooms were where it was at.
- 12:01Sean McAllister: That's where the action was.
- 12:02Dayna Roselli: This was the second highest gaming month in well, the history of Las Vegas.
- 12:08Dayna Roselli: Yeah.
- 12:08Dayna Roselli: Um, you know, Las Vegas and the strips in the county.
- 12:10Dayna Roselli: We have the city of Las Vegas and downtown, but um, it's you know, southern Nevada.
- 12:16Dayna Roselli: That's really where most of the gaming, and then we have, you know, casinos off the strip as well.
- 12:19Dayna Roselli: But all that we took in, uh we took in a lot of money on the strip, and a lot of it was table games.
- 12:26Dayna Roselli: And what was the total here?
- 12:28Dayna Roselli: Uh 821 million in gaming revenue for the strip during the month.
- 12:34Sean McAllister: And I believe it was uh it was well over a billion dollars, 1.3 billion, I believe.
- 12:42Sean McAllister: Yes.
- 12:42Sean McAllister: Uh, and that was I believe the 33rd consecutive month of statewide gambling revenue over one billion dollars.
- 12:55Sean McAllister: Yeah, isn't it crazy?
- 12:56Sean McAllister: Incredible.
- 12:57Dayna Roselli: Yeah, it really is.
- 12:58Dayna Roselli: And this$821 million in gaming revenue for the strip was a 22.6% increase from November of 2022.
- 13:08Dayna Roselli: So you can see how much, what's normally like a slower month, how much F1 helped boost that gaming number.
- 13:14Sean McAllister: Yeah, and I know uh tourism, the number of travelers who came here to Las Vegas was also up because not only did we have F1 in November, but the CEMA uh car convention, that's an auto, like an aftermarket auto uh convention that we have here every year in Las Vegas.
- 13:32Sean McAllister: That was also in November.
- 13:33Sean McAllister: So those two events together kind of really jacked up the number of people who came to visit Las Vegas in a month that is historically one of the slowest months of the year.
- 13:47Dayna Roselli: Yeah, for so true.
- 13:48Dayna Roselli: And there were a lot of people at SEMA this year.
- 13:50Dayna Roselli: I don't know, I felt like there were more than normal.
- 13:52Dayna Roselli: I and they added like that whole thing at the festival grounds.
- 13:55Dayna Roselli: Remember, I was kind of complaining that it was loud, people were spinning out and burning out tires and stuff.
- 14:00Dayna Roselli: It was part of it, but I was like, all right, I had had enough by like, you know, 11 p.m.
- 14:05Dayna Roselli: on one of the nights.
- 14:06Dayna Roselli: Uh but you know, I was happy that everyone was in town.
- 14:08Dayna Roselli: I'd just never seen that before.
- 14:10Dayna Roselli: And so I feel like they added some things, and yeah, it would that was packed too.
- 14:13Dayna Roselli: So that's really cool.
- 14:14Sean McAllister: And I know that uh with these numbers coming out, there are going to be people who say, yeah, that's great for those high-end properties that catered to the high-end visitors who came in for Formula One.
- 14:26Sean McAllister: But what about everybody else?
- 14:28Sean McAllister: What about the local shop owners who had business that was just dead?
- 14:33Sean McAllister: And what about these mid-level hotels that were just empty?
- 14:38Sean McAllister: Well, those are the things that are going to be addressed in future years because that is something that needs to be fixed.
- 14:46Sean McAllister: But overall, we did have that influx of money and business on the Las Vegas strip.
- 14:52Dayna Roselli: Right.
- 14:53Dayna Roselli: And we say you live and you learn, right?
- 14:54Dayna Roselli: You try it and then you learn from it.
- 14:56Dayna Roselli: And it's just like a lot of shows that we have open for a couple months and they close or retool.
- 15:01Dayna Roselli: I mean, we we you know, we're based on we're never saying like we're 100% perfect in Las Vegas.
- 15:06Dayna Roselli: We are the entertainment capital of the world now.
- 15:08Dayna Roselli: We're number one up there in in sports and and wedding capital of the world and all that.
- 15:13Dayna Roselli: But I think we always learn from things when they're new and we fix it.
- 15:17Sean McAllister: Well, and when you look at the history of Las Vegas, this is a city that is constantly evolving, and you don't evolve without looking at what works, what doesn't, fixing it and moving forward.
- 15:28Sean McAllister: Right.
- 15:29Sean McAllister: So uh one of the things, yeah, one of the things that uh kind of was talked about during F1 uh was the fact that uh they didn't want people uh using the pedestrian overpasses as a viewing location for the race.
- 15:45Sean McAllister: They put film up on the windows, they made sure that traffic kept moving, uh pedestrian traffic, and that's something that's going to continue.
- 15:52Sean McAllister: Just this week, uh there was an ordinance passed by the Clark County Commission that has uh essentially banned the stoppage of pedestrian traffic on those uh overpass bridges, the pedestrian bridges that get people from one side of Las Vegas Boulevard to the other.
- 16:13Sean McAllister: Uh and what this means is that if you uh clog up the pedestrian traffic, the foot traffic, then the police can cite you and you can get up to six months in jail and or a thousand dollar fine.
- 16:29Sean McAllister: Okay.
- 16:30Sean McAllister: So this is really aimed at keeping the foot traffic moving.
- 16:35Sean McAllister: If you want to stop and take a picture while you're up there, because there are good views, you're still able to do that.
- 16:41Sean McAllister: You're not gonna get arrested for that.
- 16:42Sean McAllister: You're not gonna get a ticket for that.
- 16:45Dayna Roselli: But if you're up there, let's say playing guitar with your guitar case open, wanting tips and people to stand around and listen to you for a little while, that's not gonna be allowed.
- 16:54Sean McAllister: Exactly.
- 16:54Dayna Roselli: Or you're you can't bring a cooler and sell bottled water where it gets people to gather around and and have to dig out their cash and try and pay you, and the line gets long and all that kind of thing.
- 17:04Dayna Roselli: Those kinds of things.
- 17:05Sean McAllister: A hundred percent.
- 17:06Sean McAllister: And people have said they're like, Well, this is cracking down on street performers, blah, blah, blah.
- 17:10Sean McAllister: And they say the county commission uh said, Well, street performers are still welcome on the overpasses as long as they keep walking.
- 17:18Dayna Roselli: Yeah, so there you go.
- 17:20Dayna Roselli: Get your perform and walk.
- 17:22Dayna Roselli: Right, perform and walk, keep walking.
- 17:24Dayna Roselli: I love that.
- 17:25Dayna Roselli: Well, you know what?
- 17:25Dayna Roselli: I mean, they know best when it comes to safety.
- 17:27Dayna Roselli: Um, we have actually, you know, the strip is is a really safe place if you think about how many people visit every single day.
- 17:35Dayna Roselli: Um, and if this is gonna add to that, cool.
- 17:38Dayna Roselli: Let me know what we need to do to keep things safe and and we'll follow the rules.
- 17:42Dayna Roselli: I mean, everyone won't, and I'm sure we'll hear a lot about it, but we'll see.
- 17:46Sean McAllister: Yeah, so that is one of the things uh that is new on the Las Vegas strip in 2024.
- 17:52Sean McAllister: And uh we have a bunch of stuff to go over that is also new, and I feel like this is a year's worth of new stuff.
- 18:01Dayna Roselli: It is, and actually the the list is not complete, but this is like kind of off the top of our head, right?
- 18:06Dayna Roselli: Like, but we just want to run down real quick and let you know what's coming up for the year, some highlights that we think you might want to pay attention to, and we're definitely gonna be paying attention to.
- 18:16Sean McAllister: Uh, starting with Super Bowl 58 coming up February 11th over at Allegiance Stadium, there's going to really be an entire week's worth of festivities leading up to Super Bowl.
- 18:28Sean McAllister: And uh we're gonna be covering all that stuff for you, so you'll want to tune in for that.
- 18:34Dayna Roselli: Yeah, and then they have the opening, the opening night uh is gonna be at Allegiance Stadium, and they're selling tickets for like 30 bucks.
- 18:40Dayna Roselli: They had a little sale.
- 18:41Dayna Roselli: I already bought mine because I bought$15 tickets.
- 18:44Dayna Roselli: They had a half off sale.
- 18:45Sean McAllister: That's I wonder if I bought I I feel like I meant to buy them, and I don't remember if I did.
- 18:50Sean McAllister: I have to go back and look.
- 18:53Dayna Roselli: Well, I got you a ticket if if you need it.
- 18:54Dayna Roselli: Oh, thank you.
- 18:55Dayna Roselli: Um yeah, and uh yeah, they want everyone to come out to that.
- 18:58Dayna Roselli: They're really embracing, you know, the locals and the community coming out and joining a lot of the Super Bowl festivities, and they are affordable.
- 19:04Dayna Roselli: So good to know.
- 19:05Dayna Roselli: And the NHL draft, I don't think I even knew this, is gonna be at the sphere June 28th and 29th.
- 19:11Sean McAllister: Yeah, which is very exciting.
- 19:12Sean McAllister: We've had the NFL draft here.
- 19:14Sean McAllister: I believe this is the first time the NHL draft has been held here in Las Vegas.
- 19:20Sean McAllister: Cool.
- 19:20Sean McAllister: Uh, and the first time certainly at uh the sphere.
- 19:25Sean McAllister: Yeah.
- 19:25Sean McAllister: And that's gonna be the first major like sporting uh event or sports-related event that's that's being held there.
- 19:33Sean McAllister: We've only seen concerts and the uh postcard from Earth uh film shown there so far.
- 19:40Sean McAllister: So that's gonna be exciting.
- 19:41Dayna Roselli: Yeah, it really is.
- 19:42Dayna Roselli: I mean, I'm sure the outside, the exosphere will have things going for Super Bowl, but we haven't heard of anything happening inside the sphere yet.
- 19:49Dayna Roselli: So yeah, you're right.
- 19:50Dayna Roselli: This could be the first.
- 19:50Dayna Roselli: And then UFC's gonna do something at the sphere on September 14th.
- 19:54Dayna Roselli: I know Dana White was talking about that and excited that he kind of coaxed him to to allow him to do this.
- 20:00Dayna Roselli: He had a vision.
- 20:01Sean McAllister: Yes.
- 20:02Sean McAllister: Uh also tying in with uh Super Bowl weekend, live golf.
- 20:07Sean McAllister: That is the um uh tournament, the the uh golf uh group that kind of competes with PGA.
- 20:16Sean McAllister: Okay, it's a Saudi-backed golf got it.
- 20:19Sean McAllister: Never heard of League.
- 20:20Sean McAllister: The golf league.
- 20:22Sean McAllister: Anyway, uh they're having uh their first US tournament of 2024 Super Bowl weekend at the Las Vegas Country Club.
- 20:30Dayna Roselli: Oh, cool.
- 20:31Dayna Roselli: I love that.
- 20:32Sean McAllister: That will uh bring in a whole other sports crowd as well.
- 20:37Dayna Roselli: And speaking of golf, a lot of golf attractions are opening in Las Vegas in the upcoming year.
- 20:43Dayna Roselli: Atomic golf at the Stratosphere.
- 20:45Dayna Roselli: I know they're they're pushing hiring and filling, you know, with employees and doing interviews and stuff off site right now.
- 20:52Dayna Roselli: Uh swingers, we've talked about this at Mandalay Bay, adult golf, um, adult only, yeah, mini golf, and then pop stroke over at Town Square, and that's kind of backed by Tiger Woods.
- 21:05Dayna Roselli: So um that'll be opening as well.
- 21:08Dayna Roselli: So we got a lot of like golf's gonna be the thing, and then we already have top golf that is so popular, and it'll be interesting to see with all these different attractions if they'll all stay busy or they'll spread the love or what.
- 21:20Sean McAllister: Yeah, it will.
- 21:21Sean McAllister: And I know that they're even off the strip, there's some other um golf facilities that are gonna be opening up as well.
- 21:28Sean McAllister: So a big year for golf in Las Vegas.
- 21:31Sean McAllister: Yeah, definitely.
- 21:33Dayna Roselli: Hey, some shows that are coming that are new.
- 21:36Dayna Roselli: Disco show by Spiegel World.
- 21:37Dayna Roselli: And you know Spiegel World, they they have Absinthe at Caesars Palace, they had OPM at Cosmopolitan, which just recently closed to make some room, I think, for disco show, or it was just it's it's it was time to end the show.
- 21:50Dayna Roselli: And then Atomic Saloon over at uh the Palazzo, but now they're adding disco show.
- 21:55Dayna Roselli: I look forward to seeing what that will be like.
- 21:57Dayna Roselli: I'm sure it will be outrageous in many ways.
- 22:00Sean McAllister: And this is over at the Link, the disco show.
- 22:03Sean McAllister: It's taking over the space.
- 22:04Sean McAllister: You know, before the link was the link, it was Imperial Palace.
- 22:07Sean McAllister: Oh, yeah.
- 22:08Sean McAllister: And Imperial Palace had a a sports book over at that property, which has been walled off and not accessible to uh casino visitors since it turned into the link.
- 22:21Sean McAllister: Um and they've kind of gutted that entire space and turned it into a venue for our disco show.
- 22:28Sean McAllister: So it'll be interesting to see what this is all about.
- 22:31Sean McAllister: I'm guessing strong 70s vibes.
- 22:34Dayna Roselli: Probably.
- 22:35Dayna Roselli: Yeah.
- 22:35Dayna Roselli: I think they showed their little uh teaser video and it seemed to go in that in that direction.
- 22:39Sean McAllister: Studio 54-esque.
- 22:41Dayna Roselli: Oh my gosh.
- 22:42Dayna Roselli: I went to the Luau at Imperial Palace.
- 22:44Dayna Roselli: Did you ever go to the Luau?
- 22:45Dayna Roselli: No.
- 22:45Dayna Roselli: Oh.
- 22:46Dayna Roselli: It was when I was visiting once, and it was interesting.
- 22:52Sean McAllister: Well, there's lots of stories tied to Imperial Palace.
- 22:54Dayna Roselli: Yeah, that was interesting.
- 22:56Dayna Roselli: Um, but I thought it was like a thing you had to do, like go to Imperial Palace to the Luau, but after it was over, I kind of wished I didn't see it.
- 23:04Sean McAllister: I did go, although before Imperial Palace closed and turned into the link, they did have, I believe, a Mai Thai bar.
- 23:13Sean McAllister: There was a tiny little Mai Thai bar kind of stuck in the back.
- 23:17Sean McAllister: Okay.
- 23:18Sean McAllister: And they had great Mai Thai's.
- 23:19Sean McAllister: I did stop there.
- 23:21Dayna Roselli: Okay, okay.
- 23:22Dayna Roselli: Yeah, it was an iconic spot, that's for sure.
- 23:25Dayna Roselli: Hey, another show that's opening uh just off the strip.
- 23:27Dayna Roselli: I don't know if you guys have any of our listeners ever been to the Orleans, but it's a popular hotel casino off the strip, just to the west of the strip, down Tropicana.
- 23:38Dayna Roselli: And I go to the movies there often.
- 23:40Dayna Roselli: I like the movie theater there.
- 23:41Dayna Roselli: But anyway, they are actually gonna have their own residency show and they're bringing back Jersey Boys.
- 23:46Dayna Roselli: So I thought that was cool.
- 23:48Sean McAllister: And I I think this is the first residency show that they're staging at the Orleans.
- 23:53Dayna Roselli: I think so.
- 23:53Dayna Roselli: And so they're trying something new.
- 23:55Dayna Roselli: And what I love is, you know, uh Jersey Boys, they were over at the Paris for a long time, started at the Palazzo, closed, and it's been years now.
- 24:02Dayna Roselli: Um, and it's such a you know, a staple show that people go and they love and they've seen it over and over.
- 24:08Dayna Roselli: But I love also that they're bringing in this large cast, so it's like jobs for you know, all these people to come have a show at the Orleans and and you know, stay here for a while, not just swing into town and then leave.
- 24:21Dayna Roselli: So I look forward to I think that's gonna do pretty well at the Orleans, actually.
- 24:24Dayna Roselli: I think it's a good crowd for the Jersey boys.
- 24:26Sean McAllister: Yeah, and it's the music and the story of Frankie Valley and the four seasons.
- 24:30Sean McAllister: They've got VIP packages available.
- 24:33Sean McAllister: They sure do.
- 24:34Sean McAllister: Bottle service, the whole nine.
- 24:36Dayna Roselli: I was going looking through.
- 24:37Dayna Roselli: We were laughing, we're going, wow, look at this, it's like, you know, they have options.
- 24:41Sean McAllister: Way to go, Orleans.
- 24:42Dayna Roselli: Box seats and all sorts of stuff.
- 24:44Dayna Roselli: So um Shania's coming back to Planet Hollywood.
- 24:47Dayna Roselli: I always feel like Shania is kind of the share, like farewell tour, and then she's back again.
- 24:51Dayna Roselli: But Shania has been uh in Vegas, left Vegas, she's back, so she's come back again, and she'll be over at Planet Hollywood's backed theater.
- 24:59Sean McAllister: Uh a group that we have never seen have a residency here in Las Vegas, Wu Tang Clan is going to be launching a residency of their own over at uh Virgin Hotels.
- 25:11Sean McAllister: That's the old hard rock over there at Harmon and Paradise, just off the strip.
- 25:17Sean McAllister: Also, Jodice is going to be staging their residency at House of Blues.
- 25:21Dayna Roselli: I was at that um festival this year.
- 25:25unknown: Gosh.
- 25:26Dayna Roselli: We're really like, I feel like this whole podcast, we're like, you know, uh, remember what was the name of it?
- 25:31Dayna Roselli: Oh my gosh.
- 25:31Dayna Roselli: We're really you know what we're here older.
- 25:34Sean McAllister: Getting the brains back into the back out of holiday mode, into thinking mode.
- 25:39Dayna Roselli: What was I at?
- 25:40Dayna Roselli: Was it Forever Young?
- 25:42Sean McAllister: When we were young?
- 25:43Dayna Roselli: No, it was the one Chris Brown.
- 25:47Dayna Roselli: It was like a whole great like list of RB and oh my gosh.
- 25:53Dayna Roselli: I remember that you went to it and lovers.
- 25:56Dayna Roselli: Was that it?
- 25:57Dayna Roselli: Lovers and friends?
- 25:59Sean McAllister: That was a festival.
- 26:00Dayna Roselli: It was.
- 26:00Dayna Roselli: That's the festival I went to.
- 26:03Dayna Roselli: And I remember walking by and going, Oh, I love this song, and oh, they're good.
- 26:07Dayna Roselli: And it was Joe Dicey.
- 26:08Dayna Roselli: Oh, that's what I was trying to get to.
- 26:11Sean McAllister: Gotcha.
- 26:12Sean McAllister: We're there.
- 26:12Sean McAllister: We made it.
- 26:14Dayna Roselli: All right.
- 26:14Dayna Roselli: That was like totally, yeah.
- 26:16Dayna Roselli: The lovers and friends or friends and lovers, whatever.
- 26:18Dayna Roselli: It sells out every year over at the Las Vegas Festival grounds.
- 26:22Dayna Roselli: Um, they have like two nights.
- 26:23Dayna Roselli: Joe Dicey was there, they were fantastic.
- 26:25Dayna Roselli: So FYI.
- 26:26Sean McAllister: But again, they'll be at uh House of Blues.
- 26:29Sean McAllister: Uh Fish is the the next residency that we'll be seeing over at the sphere.
- 26:36Sean McAllister: They have, I believe, four shows that are announced so far.
- 26:39Sean McAllister: Yep.
- 26:40Sean McAllister: Uh the coming up this spring.
- 26:41Sean McAllister: April, right?
- 26:42Sean McAllister: Yeah.
- 26:42Sean McAllister: In April, yep.
- 26:43Sean McAllister: And Dana, I know you're excited about this one.
- 26:46Dayna Roselli: Well, I am, but here's the deal.
- 26:48Dayna Roselli: Uh, new edition is coming to the Encore Theater at the Wind, but uh, they're like sold out.
- 26:53Dayna Roselli: Like the first day, I went on the next day, I went on day two to look at tickets, and there was like nothing available that I could find except on resale sites.
- 27:05Dayna Roselli: And then I had a friend, my friend Gina, was tweeting me going, um, what the heck?
- 27:09Dayna Roselli: Like new edition, trying to get tickets, can't get it.
- 27:12Dayna Roselli: So, like, I don't know.
- 27:12Dayna Roselli: I haven't looked today when we're recording to see what's available, but as far as I know, I think they might be sold out or close to sold out, very few tickets available.
- 27:22Sean McAllister: So, what you're saying is we need to talk to Win and AEG and new edition and to add more dates.
- 27:29Dayna Roselli: Add more dates.
- 27:30Dayna Roselli: I think they're gonna, I mean, if if they sold out that quick, I wonder if they'll, you know, add more and become a little bit more of a residency.
- 27:37Dayna Roselli: I'm not sure.
- 27:37Dayna Roselli: Um, but they might need to also add a folding chair for Roselli at the end of a row so that I could fit in and see the show because I'm dying to see it.
- 27:46Sean McAllister: You really want to push the capacity of that theater, huh?
- 27:49Dayna Roselli: Yeah.
- 27:51Dayna Roselli: Oh my gosh.
- 27:51Dayna Roselli: We have celebrity bars opening up.
- 27:53Dayna Roselli: This one has been, I feel like I've watched the whole thing on Instagram.
- 27:56Dayna Roselli: Is it uh old Red by Blake Shelton?
- 27:58Dayna Roselli: Both Blake Shelton and Old Red doing a lot of updates over there at the Grand Bazaar Shops at Horse.
- 28:07Sean McAllister: Horse shoe.
- 28:08Sean McAllister: What were you gonna say?
- 28:10Sean McAllister: Horseheads.
- 28:10Sean McAllister: Horseheads.
- 28:11Dayna Roselli: My first job in Elmira, New York was on television.
- 28:14Dayna Roselli: Second job for NBC.
- 28:16Dayna Roselli: I lived in Elmira and Horseheads.
- 28:18Sean McAllister: Horseheads is right on the New York State, Pennsylvania border, down there by Painted Post.
- 28:24Dayna Roselli: So that's what I was gonna say.
- 28:25Dayna Roselli: It's over there at Horseheads.
- 28:26Dayna Roselli: No, the horseshoe.
- 28:27Sean McAllister: The horseshoe.
- 28:28Dayna Roselli: See, I told you it's wow, the brain fog is real.
- 28:32Sean McAllister: Old Red uh is a total Nashville style honky tonk, and it's taken over the entire corner of Las Vegas Boulevard and Flamingo.
- 28:42Sean McAllister: Uh, it's a multi-story building, but it looks like it's going to be a lot of fun.
- 28:49Sean McAllister: Obviously, uh we can expect live music in there.
- 28:53Sean McAllister: Um, we're actually going to be headed over for uh an early quick look in a couple weeks here, so we'll be able to report back to you on that.
- 29:02Sean McAllister: Um but I I love uh Nashville.
- 29:06Sean McAllister: I love Broadway in Nashville and just hopping from honky tongue to honky tonk.
- 29:11Sean McAllister: So I'm excited to have a place like this uh right there.
- 29:16Sean McAllister: And having the foot traffic that will just be able to go right in is gonna be, I have a feeling it's going to be a very popular place.
- 29:24Sean McAllister: And I believe I read there's gonna be a big tractor hanging from the ceiling or something.
- 29:29Dayna Roselli: Oh, really?
- 29:29Dayna Roselli: Yeah.
- 29:30Dayna Roselli: Oh, that sounds fun.
- 29:31Dayna Roselli: Yeah, I mean, people love you know those kinds of bars are so popular.
- 29:33Dayna Roselli: I mean, we have stoneies in town, you know, like two of them, and they're always just jam-packed.
- 29:39Dayna Roselli: And and then, you know, we've had so many country bars on the strip that people just love, and they've always got the live music thing going.
- 29:45Dayna Roselli: It's just so good, right?
- 29:46Sean McAllister: And uh John Rich from Big and Rich, he had Redneck Riviera over there at Grand Bazaar Shops, but it was set way in the back, like you had to go all through the shops to get there, and then I think you had to go upstairs, and so it wasn't the easiest location to get to, still an incredible space.
- 30:05Sean McAllister: Um, so I'm glad that it ended up closing, but I'm glad that um that Nashville vibe, we're gonna have Nash Vegas vibes right there at Flamingo and Las Vegas Boulevard.
- 30:16Dayna Roselli: And I noticed that they put out a lineup of different performers, and it looks like it's a good mix of you know, some of the some of the country singers that we have living here in town mixed in with, you know, acts that are coming into town and leaving.
- 30:28Dayna Roselli: So I love I do love that.
- 30:29Dayna Roselli: I'm I'm excited that you know it'll give some folks work that live here in town and want to perform their country music as well.
- 30:36Dayna Roselli: And the and I'm sure we'll get a lot of visitors as well.
- 30:39Sean McAllister: Yeah.
- 30:39Sean McAllister: Uh also we've talked about this.
- 30:41Sean McAllister: Bruno Mars opening a lounge of his own over at Bellagio called Pinky Ring.
- 30:47Sean McAllister: Uh, we expect that uh in 2024 as well.
- 30:51Sean McAllister: And I believe I saw um our friend Johnny Katz was out at a uh music event recently and said one of the uh musicians has been in uh rehearsals to perform at uh Pinky Ring.
- 31:07Sean McAllister: Cool, yeah, that'll be yeah.
- 31:09Sean McAllister: I think they're gonna have to.
- 31:10Sean McAllister: It sounds like maybe a house band is gonna be performing in there.
- 31:14Dayna Roselli: I like that space too at the Bellagio.
- 31:16Sean McAllister: It's so good.
- 31:16Sean McAllister: It's like it right in the center.
- 31:18Dayna Roselli: Right in the center.
- 31:18Sean McAllister: It's great.
- 31:19Dayna Roselli: Anything that's in the center is good.
- 31:21Dayna Roselli: I went to the center bar, the blue bar at Fountain Blue the other day, and we sat there for like two hours.
- 31:26Dayna Roselli: I caught up with some some friends that met me there, and I just I really enjoyed it.
- 31:30Dayna Roselli: I like the center places.
- 31:32Sean McAllister: The center bars are great.
- 31:33Dayna Roselli: Yeah.
- 31:33Dayna Roselli: Um, so yeah, Pinky Ring will definitely be cool, you know.
- 31:36Dayna Roselli: I mean, Bruno's just gonna bring it.
- 31:38Dayna Roselli: And so many people went to Bruno Mars over New Year's Eve weekend.
- 31:40Dayna Roselli: They did.
- 31:41Dayna Roselli: Yeah, and J Lo and Ben were there.
- 31:43Dayna Roselli: Right.
- 31:43Dayna Roselli: Our friend Carrie that runs Teaspoon um bakery.
- 31:47Dayna Roselli: She was there and she said Ben and Jen were very cuddly and all over, and they walked right by her and her daughter, and she had like the inside look.
- 31:56Sean McAllister: Look at that.
- 31:56Sean McAllister: She could have written a whole article for some magazine.
- 32:00Dayna Roselli: She was quick to point out they looked like they were in a good mood, you know, because everyone always says they never look like they're in a good mood together.
- 32:06Dayna Roselli: They would seem to have a fabulous night.
- 32:08Dayna Roselli: But Ben is just, you know, he's not, he's not the most camera-friendly person.
- 32:12Dayna Roselli: My dad's not a fan of Ben Affleck, so he always is very vocal about it.
- 32:15Dayna Roselli: No, he thinks he's sneaky, he thinks he's too sneaky for that, Jennifer Lopez.
- 32:20Dayna Roselli: I don't know why he thinks that, but I always do a little Instagram story with him whenever I visit him, and he gives his update on Ben Affleck.
- 32:26Dayna Roselli: Too sneaky.
- 32:27Dayna Roselli: But anyway, Ben, yeah, there are opinions.
- 32:30Dayna Roselli: I like Ben.
- 32:31Dayna Roselli: I'm glad that they went and had fun.
- 32:33Dayna Roselli: I think she went over to Christina Aguilera at uh Voltaire after that with her friends or something.
- 32:37Dayna Roselli: I don't know if it was the night before or after Bruno Mars.
- 32:40Sean McAllister: That's right, because Christina kicked off her Voltaire residency, uh, New Year's Eve weekend, and man alive, did she look great?
- 32:48Sean McAllister: Oh my god, fantastic.
- 32:50Dayna Roselli: And we had one of our listeners uh and our friends on Instagram give us a whole review and send us videos.
- 32:56Dayna Roselli: And he said that uh Christina did a 75-minute performance, looked amazing.
- 33:03Dayna Roselli: Um, she did like a little New Year's Eve countdown that night.
- 33:06Dayna Roselli: Um, but he said, you know, great vibes overall.
- 33:10Dayna Roselli: He wanted more and more Christina.
- 33:12Dayna Roselli: Um, he said many folks were seated, so the general admission view was actually pretty good.
- 33:18Dayna Roselli: People stood up and then sat down for a lot of it.
- 33:20Dayna Roselli: He also said Paula Abdul was in the house.
- 33:22Dayna Roselli: He saw Paula there, too.
- 33:23Dayna Roselli: Paula?
- 33:24Dayna Roselli: So yeah, it was quite a weekend of sightings.
- 33:27Dayna Roselli: But yeah, he said A plus night overall, he had a blast.
- 33:30Sean McAllister: Do you think Paula might be a new headliner over at Voltaire down the line, too?
- 33:35Sean McAllister: Maybe could be.
- 33:36Sean McAllister: She's had a Vegas residency before.
- 33:38Dayna Roselli: Yeah, she has.
- 33:39Dayna Roselli: We'll see.
- 33:39Dayna Roselli: I don't know.
- 33:40Dayna Roselli: I uh it's interesting.
- 33:41Dayna Roselli: A lot of people are checking out that space.
- 33:43Dayna Roselli: It's got about a thousand seats, so it's a little larger than uh like a medium-sized showroom, but it's still so intimate.
- 33:50Dayna Roselli: Or potentially J Lo.
- 33:51Dayna Roselli: Yeah, possibly.
- 33:52Dayna Roselli: I know that there's a lot of talk right now that J-Lo is going to have a residency here in Las Vegas again, and she's kind of deciding where she's gonna go.
- 34:03Sean McAllister: So this could have been a scouting mission.
- 34:05Dayna Roselli: Could have been a scouting mission.
- 34:06Dayna Roselli: I don't know, J Lo.
- 34:07Dayna Roselli: I wonder she'd do a thousand room if that's too small, but it could be fun.
- 34:11Sean McAllister: I mean, I I think she first of all, she puts on an incredible show wherever she is, but that would be such a cool experience to be that up close and and personal.
- 34:22Dayna Roselli: Right.
- 34:23Dayna Roselli: It would be.
- 34:23Dayna Roselli: I mean, I know people, you know, I think any of those shows, when you come out, you look fabulous, you've got great, you dance great, you've got great dancers behind you, you know, the band, that's the perfect kind of setting for that.
- 34:34Dayna Roselli: And it is sometimes you don't always have to do stadiums and stuff, you want to get a little creative.
- 34:38Dayna Roselli: That's why I think when people go to the sphere, it only fits 17,500.
- 34:42Dayna Roselli: And a lot of people are like, well, who's gonna go there if they can do stadiums?
- 34:45Dayna Roselli: And it's like, well, maybe if they just want to get a little creative and do something new, they might.
- 34:49Sean McAllister: Yeah.
- 34:50Sean McAllister: So we'll see.
- 34:50Sean McAllister: If the paycheck is right.
- 34:52Dayna Roselli: I know.
- 34:53Dayna Roselli: We've kind of uh gone off on a tangent, so sorry about that, but there's a lot to talk about.
- 34:58Dayna Roselli: Yeah, I guess so.
- 34:59Dayna Roselli: Restaurants, um, brassery B by Bobby Flay at Caesar's Palace is now open.
- 35:03Dayna Roselli: So open table is taking reservations, it's open, um, and it's good to go.
- 35:08Dayna Roselli: And that's in that hallway that is right across from Nobu.
- 35:13Sean McAllister: Yep.
- 35:13Sean McAllister: Uh Karama by Wolfgang Puck over at Mandalay Bay.
- 35:17Sean McAllister: It's taking over the space that used to be Lupo, which uh was Wolfgang's other restaurant.
- 35:24Sean McAllister: This one is uh kind of modeled, inspired by uh the recipes of Wolfgang's mom.
- 35:33Sean McAllister: So it'll be it'll be nice to be back over there.
- 35:36Sean McAllister: I love that space anyway.
- 35:38Sean McAllister: I loved Lupo.
- 35:39Sean McAllister: Can't wait for uh Karama.
- 35:41Sean McAllister: Also, Canteen Food Hall over at the Rio is going to open this year.
- 35:48Sean McAllister: This is uh in the space that used to be the Carnival World Buffet, which was for years and years and years the largest and one of the most popular buffets in all of Las Vegas.
- 36:00Dayna Roselli: It really was.
- 36:01Dayna Roselli: People loved it for the seafood, right?
- 36:03Dayna Roselli: Yeah, and it was like the most talked about and written about.
- 36:05Dayna Roselli: So, I mean, it'll be interesting to see Canteen Food Hall at Rio.
- 36:08Dayna Roselli: So many food halls up and down the strip now.
- 36:11Dayna Roselli: That's the thing, you know?
- 36:12Dayna Roselli: And see, I'm gonna go off on a tangent again.
- 36:14Dayna Roselli: By the way, uh, since Durango has opened, all I'm hearing is, and I've gone there too, it is packed.
- 36:20Sean McAllister: Yeah.
- 36:21Dayna Roselli: People are, there's lines at the food hall.
- 36:23Dayna Roselli: I mean, the restaurants are busy.
- 36:25Dayna Roselli: I just talked to a friend of a friend who she waitresses or works over at Nico's steakhouse and says they are slammed every night.
- 36:31Dayna Roselli: Jeez.
- 36:32Dayna Roselli: Um, and that it's just it's just doing really well.
- 36:34Dayna Roselli: I know it's the holidays and a lot of people were off and seeing family, but you know, there really isn't a ton of stuff down in the southwest part of the valley.
- 36:41Dayna Roselli: So it seems to be doing really well.
- 36:43Dayna Roselli: But anyway, they really have a great food hall too.
- 36:46Dayna Roselli: But food halls are the thing.
- 36:48Sean McAllister: They are.
- 36:48Dayna Roselli: We need to do maybe like a podcast on just food halls.
- 36:52Sean McAllister: Just food halls.
- 36:52Dayna Roselli: Yeah, there's one at the ARIA and so many.
- 36:55Sean McAllister: Uh, and by the way, Canteen Food Hall is just one of the new uh changes and new upgrades that we're uh seeing over at Rio.
- 37:04Sean McAllister: We'll be seeing that uh revitalization of that property continue uh through the new year as well.
- 37:10Dayna Roselli: And it needed it for that for sure.
- 37:12Dayna Roselli: I had someone write us on TikTok saying she was staying in one of the new revamped rooms.
- 37:16Dayna Roselli: Oh that it was nice.
- 37:17Dayna Roselli: Good.
- 37:18Dayna Roselli: I'm glad to hear that.
- 37:19Dayna Roselli: Yeah.
- 37:19Dayna Roselli: Um, what else?
- 37:20Dayna Roselli: We've got a lot to talk about and tips.
- 37:22Dayna Roselli: I just keep thinking of more and more things, but we just wanted to also mention that you know, the Tropicana Las Vegas, it's it's been there a long time, right there at the corner of Tropicana and Las Vegas Boulevard.
- 37:33Dayna Roselli: That we're gonna say goodbye to in late 2024 because they're building a baseball stadium there.
- 37:39Sean McAllister: Yeah, so uh if you're in Las Vegas, make a point to stop in.
- 37:44Sean McAllister: Uh if you're coming to Las Vegas, make a point to stop in and say farewell to the to the trop.
- 37:50Sean McAllister: Also, um, we're hoping that construction is going to begin on that high-speed bright line train between Las Vegas and Southern California.
- 38:01Sean McAllister: Uh, late in 2023, there were federal funds that were approved that kind of essentially gave a green light to start the project, and uh it was much needed funding in order to move forward.
- 38:13Sean McAllister: So that came through.
- 38:14Sean McAllister: Um, we're hoping to see that construction begin.
- 38:16Dayna Roselli: Yeah, please, let's get that going.
- 38:18Dayna Roselli: I think we just need more ways to get back and forth to Southern California, right?
- 38:22Sean McAllister: Otherwise, Mayor Carolyn Goodman is gonna keep on tweeting.
- 38:26Dayna Roselli: I know.
- 38:27Dayna Roselli: Oh my gosh, she's about to do her last state of the city address.
- 38:30Dayna Roselli: She is, I know.
- 38:31Sean McAllister: So the Goodman era in Las Vegas.
- 38:34Dayna Roselli: Man, yeah, she's been pushing to widen I-15.
- 38:36Dayna Roselli: We've talked about that on the podcast, right uh over the California or our over the Nevada border, I should say, in California for a long time.
- 38:44Dayna Roselli: So just make it easier for everyone to come and go.
- 38:46Dayna Roselli: We love that.
- 38:47Dayna Roselli: They all come in for the weekend.
- 38:49Dayna Roselli: Um, somebody did point out on our Instagram though, like, well, why would California make it easier for their people, their residents to come to Las Vegas and leave and spend money and then come back?
- 38:59Dayna Roselli: And I'm like, I mean, good point, but you know, like the the mayor was pointing out, it also has to do with, you know, the trucks and stuff that come and go and the produce and and you know, making it just a more enjoyable experience so that they can get home.
- 39:12Sean McAllister: Exactly.
- 39:13unknown: Yeah.
- 39:13Dayna Roselli: If they come to Vegas anyway, then they're either coming on a Monday morning or, you know, the the traffic's gonna back them up so much, they're not gonna make it to work on on that day.
- 39:23Dayna Roselli: So anyway.
- 39:24Dayna Roselli: Uh, let's do some tips.
- 39:28Sean McAllister: Uh starting off our first set of tips for 2024, Dana, we're kind of we're going back to uh Fountain Blue for our first tip.
- 39:37Dayna Roselli: Yeah, and the reason is because this restaurant, Mother Wolf, opened, and all everyone is talking about is how the one in LA you can't get in.
- 39:45Dayna Roselli: You know, you've got to call months and months in advance, and you can't get a reservation.
- 39:49Dayna Roselli: And it just seems to be something that has traveled and traveled, and they're doing a good job, you know, getting the word out about that.
- 39:56Dayna Roselli: Anyway, so I did go there to eat, and so I've had so many questions that I figured I would do it as a tip.
- 40:01Dayna Roselli: Um, Mother Wolf, we did go.
- 40:03Dayna Roselli: We went to a 530 reservation, so we went early.
- 40:05Dayna Roselli: Um, it was New Year's Eve weekend, I think it was the Friday before, and it was definitely booked up, but there were some late reservations and some early.
- 40:14Dayna Roselli: Um, a couple things I wanted to mention.
- 40:16Dayna Roselli: Um, the main dining room, it can get loud when it's full.
- 40:19Dayna Roselli: It's a louder restaurant, more like just, you know, a little music and everyone's conversation.
- 40:25Dayna Roselli: But we actually sat, there is a room that fits about, I think there were like maybe six tables or five tables in there, maybe seven.
- 40:33Dayna Roselli: There was a long one, just off the bar area.
- 40:36Dayna Roselli: And that's where we were sat, and it was a little bit more quiet.
- 40:38Dayna Roselli: So that's a tip is in it.
- 40:40Dayna Roselli: If you're going to catch up with family and friends, you want to go to Mother Wolf, maybe you request the side room.
- 40:46Dayna Roselli: And it's all open and everything, it's not closed off.
- 40:48Dayna Roselli: You can still see out into the restaurant.
- 40:50Dayna Roselli: Yep.
- 40:51Dayna Roselli: But it's it's also right there next to the kitchen.
- 40:53Dayna Roselli: So there's a little glass area where you can look into the kitchen.
- 40:56Dayna Roselli: And then it's basically when you walk in, you go past the bar and it's straight ahead.
- 41:00Dayna Roselli: So maybe you want to request that.
- 41:02Dayna Roselli: Uh, the service was excellent.
- 41:04Dayna Roselli: Our waiter Jason, just really amazing how he educated us on every item, what they're known for, what the restaurant, you know, is known for, um, how to eat the dishes.
- 41:15Dayna Roselli: He was like, you know, I would recommend trying a few things and not getting, you know, all your own dish if you want to try different things.
- 41:22Sean McAllister: So do family style.
- 41:23Dayna Roselli: Family style, try each course, that kind of thing.
- 41:25Dayna Roselli: And so they were great and answering questions and helping us along.
- 41:29Dayna Roselli: A lot of people have asked me price points.
- 41:31Dayna Roselli: So we did get a pizza as an appetizer, and it was amazing, I must say.
- 41:35Dayna Roselli: The pizza was actually uh 30 bucks.
- 41:38Dayna Roselli: Okay, so$30, but three of us split it.
- 41:41Dayna Roselli: Um, and I think we even had a piece to take home.
- 41:44Dayna Roselli: So uh it was delicious.
- 41:46Dayna Roselli: I got the really spicy one.
- 41:47Dayna Roselli: I forget the name of it, but it was it was so good.
- 41:50Dayna Roselli: I'm actually gonna click over and and maybe look at the menu right now, but nope, it's not coming up.
- 41:54Dayna Roselli: Okay, so anyway, I had the spicy pizza with all the you know the salami on it and the oh, it was so good.
- 42:00Dayna Roselli: Um, that was amazing.
- 42:01Dayna Roselli: And then I had one of the spicy, I like spicy, spicy pastas as well, and that was uh$25.
- 42:08Dayna Roselli: So a lot of the pasta dishes were like$25,$30,$34,$36.
- 42:13Dayna Roselli: Not terrible.
- 42:14Dayna Roselli: Um, we decided not to share because two of us wanted the spicy pasta, and so we didn't want to get the like variety because we were like, well, I know I won't I want that.
- 42:22Dayna Roselli: Right.
- 42:23Dayna Roselli: I know I want that.
- 42:24Dayna Roselli: So um, but they have a lot of um signature dishes there that people love.
- 42:28Dayna Roselli: Anyway, that the that was some of the price point, and um, you know, there's a wide variety, it gets a little higher.
- 42:34Dayna Roselli: There's a couple things that are on there uh for a little bit lower.
- 42:37Dayna Roselli: They brought an amazing bread to the table.
- 42:39Dayna Roselli: I highly recommend it.
- 42:40Dayna Roselli: I thought it was good, and um the the pasta was it was just different.
- 42:45Dayna Roselli: It was so good.
- 42:45Dayna Roselli: It was a little dente, it just was delicious, all freshly made.
- 42:49Dayna Roselli: I recommend it.
- 42:50Dayna Roselli: If you can get into Mother Wolf at Las Vegas before it gets too hot and too hard to get in, you know, try it out soon.
- 42:57Sean McAllister: And I will say also uh that I had the best old-fashioned that I have ever had in my life at the bar at Mother Wolf.
- 43:08Sean McAllister: Okay, it was so good.
- 43:11Dayna Roselli: That's I remember you saying that it was opening night, wasn't it?
- 43:14Dayna Roselli: It was.
- 43:15Dayna Roselli: Yeah, you had mentioned that because I'm not a big old-fashioned person, but you were like, it's so good.
- 43:19Sean McAllister: It was incredible.
- 43:20Dayna Roselli: Yeah, good to know.
- 43:21Dayna Roselli: The bartenders are great over there, and you know, they're the working all the time, and like it's a lot of like you walk in and it's you see a lot of friendly faces and people you know.
- 43:28Dayna Roselli: And I I've been over there quite a bit.
- 43:31Dayna Roselli: Just because, you know, during the holidays, like so many people were off, and that for me, I didn't have family in town, so I was trying to catch up with old friends.
- 43:39Dayna Roselli: Yeah.
- 43:40Dayna Roselli: And everyone would say, I want to see the Fountain Blue.
- 43:42Dayna Roselli: And I was like, Great, it's around the corner for me.
- 43:43Sean McAllister: It's a convenient meeting spot.
- 43:45Dayna Roselli: I was there like all week long.
- 43:46Dayna Roselli: So I'm a Fountain Blue regular now.
- 43:48Dayna Roselli: Um, a couple other things along those lines that I wanted to mention.
- 43:51Dayna Roselli: I actually did meet some friends at the win one night, and we went out to eat, and we were there over three hours.
- 43:57Dayna Roselli: And I wanted to let everyone know, we've talked about this before.
- 44:00Dayna Roselli: That locals get for free four-hour parking with an ID.
- 44:04Dayna Roselli: That's now out off the table.
- 44:06Dayna Roselli: They don't do that anymore.
- 44:07Dayna Roselli: We were there more than three hours, and when we left, I was trying to scan and we buzzed the little thing, you know, and the speaker came on, and the guy was like, no, it's only three hours free for all, for everyone.
- 44:19Dayna Roselli: So it's always the first three hours are free in the South Parking Garage for everyone.
- 44:24Dayna Roselli: They're not doing the four-hour extension for Nevada locals anymore.
- 44:28Dayna Roselli: They let us go this one time because I didn't know the rules had changed.
- 44:32Dayna Roselli: I did just go look at the website and I don't see the locals thing on there anymore.
- 44:35Dayna Roselli: So I don't know if the parking garage was very busy, busier than normal.
- 44:39Dayna Roselli: And I wonder if a lot of people are parking there and walking to the sphere.
- 44:42Dayna Roselli: They're trying to eliminate some of that.
- 44:44Dayna Roselli: So I'm not sure.
- 44:45Dayna Roselli: But no more on the locals four-hour deal over there.
- 44:48Dayna Roselli: Also, Fountain Blue, I've gone to the garage several times.
- 44:51Dayna Roselli: It looks like they're not charging for parking yet because they're just want people in there and experiencing it.
- 44:56Dayna Roselli: Don't know when that's exactly going to kick off, but the gate is always up.
- 45:00Dayna Roselli: Another thing I learned when I was over having lunch with some folks at Resorts World is that I think it's approved or has one more little thing to be approved by the county, but they are building a pedestrian bridge from the Fountain Blue side to the Resorts World side.
- 45:17Dayna Roselli: So it's not right at Fountain Blue, but it's right around that area, the Walgreens and the Ross, that kind of parking uh or sorry, shopping center there.
- 45:25Dayna Roselli: And it'll go from there over to Resorts World.
- 45:27Dayna Roselli: So that'll make it easier for you to get, you know, you want to go to the wind, you want to hop to Fountain Blue, you want to take the pedestrian bridge over to Resorts World.
- 45:34Sean McAllister: Maybe Circus Circus.
- 45:35Dayna Roselli: Then you want to hit Circus Circus, right?
- 45:37Dayna Roselli: It's all gonna come together.
- 45:38Dayna Roselli: Slots of fun, any of that stuff.
- 45:41Dayna Roselli: Um, so now that will be or go to the Sahara too.
- 45:45Dayna Roselli: So it started starting to build up there at the north end, and I think the pedestrian bridge will be great.
- 45:50Sean McAllister: As long as you keep moving.
- 45:51Sean McAllister: Yes, and you don't get a ticket moving for stopping.
- 45:54Sean McAllister: Right.
- 45:55Sean McAllister: Uh that's an episode.
- 45:57Dayna Roselli: It is, but you know, I wanted to mention one more thing.
- 45:59Dayna Roselli: I don't know if you want to mention it, but you know, we're excited that possibly be moving to television soon.
- 46:04Dayna Roselli: Um, it's a little treat we got for the new year.
- 46:07Sean McAllister: How did I forget about this?
- 46:09Dayna Roselli: I don't know.
- 46:09Dayna Roselli: We have some interest though, and I'm excited.
- 46:11Dayna Roselli: We're gonna continue the audio version.
- 46:12Dayna Roselli: And and if we did this, um, which we think we are, is gonna be in February.
- 46:17Dayna Roselli: But um, here's the deal: here's a tip.
- 46:19Dayna Roselli: If you want to be part of the Vegas Revealed podcast and be a sponsor, or you want a commercial to run in our television show that we're gonna be starting, hit us up.
