Drivers on SR-79 between Tarrant and Center Point, brace yourself—big changes are coming. Starting Sunday, July 26, ALDOT kicks off nightly resurfacing work from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m., stretching from the Five Mile Creek Bridge to Winewood Road. This isn’t the end; it’s the beginning. Over the next few years, ALDOT plans to resurface the entire SR-79 corridor, with major phases hitting Alabama Street to Five Mile Creek Bridge by 2026, and extending further to Old Bradford Road by late 2026 or early 2027.
