- 0:05Speaker 1: Welcome to Just the Cats with Michael Bennett.
- 0:13Speaker 2: Hello, Big Blue Nation. Welcome to Just the Cats. My
- 0:16Speaker 2: name is Michael Bennett on this Wednesday, August 26th. Hope
- 0:21Speaker 2: everybody's ready for a big day. As Justin reminded me,
- 0:26Speaker 2: this is my Friday because I'm going to take a
- 0:29Speaker 2: few days off. I know the timing's bad, but I
- 0:32Speaker 2: didn't have a choice. Anyway. Promise is a promise. Promise
- 0:37Speaker 2: is a promise. Listen, if I've been married 32 years
- 0:41Speaker 2: for a reason, when my wife asks for something, I
- 0:43Speaker 2: do it. You know? How do you say no to that?
- 0:46Speaker 2: She's like, Michael, you need to take some time off.
- 0:49Speaker 2: I'm taking time off. I'd like you to be with me.
- 0:52Speaker 2: What would you say? Yes, ma'am. Exactly. And that's exactly
- 0:56Speaker 2: what I did. Happy life, happy life. Exactly. In fact,
- 1:01Speaker 2: she told me last night. as she was driving back
- 1:04Speaker 2: from Nashville, Tennessee at 10 o'clock in the evening, that
- 1:09Speaker 2: she's looking forward to this and said, thank you. And
- 1:13Speaker 2: I'm like, how could I ever not? I mean, that
- 1:16Speaker 2: was really, that made me feel good. So that's what
- 1:18Speaker 2: we're doing. And I'm sorry that it's right before the
- 1:22Speaker 2: football season starts, but. And I think she understands that
- 1:25Speaker 2: and feels a little guilty. But on the other hand,
- 1:27Speaker 2: it's like, no, it's Youngstown State. Exactly. Come on. Exactly. Well,
- 1:31Speaker 2: but she knows it's Will Stein's first game. She knows
- 1:34Speaker 2: all the big deals about this. But we're going to
- 1:36Speaker 2: head down to the Keys, which I'm looking forward to it.
- 1:39Speaker 2: See some friends down there. And I always love going
- 1:42Speaker 2: to Key West. Key West is a place. Have you
- 1:46Speaker 2: ever been to Key West? I haven't. You haven't? Do
- 1:49Speaker 2: you want to go?
- 1:50Speaker 3: Yes.
- 1:52Speaker 2: Badly. Why? I mean, it feels like such a fun place. Yes.
- 1:59Speaker 4: Everybody's in the same mindset of like, heck yeah, we're
- 2:02Speaker 4: on vacation. Let's just have fun and live it up.
- 2:04Speaker 2: Yeah. Just enjoy life. Yeah. Oh, they're living it up
- 2:07Speaker 2: down there. Now, because it's a very alternative lifestyle down there.
- 2:12Speaker 2: And listen, I love it. And there's no in between.
- 2:17Speaker 2: I feel like you either love Key West or you
- 2:20Speaker 2: hate it. And we happen to love it. We have
- 2:23Speaker 2: a ball down there. Every time we go there, we
- 2:25Speaker 2: have a ball. There's a place called Mallory Square. If
- 2:29Speaker 2: you've never been, you go there to watch the sunset.
- 2:31Speaker 2: You got little people that do little carnival-type shows, which
- 2:35Speaker 2: is interesting. But, no, I look forward to it. It'll
- 2:39Speaker 2: be a lot of fun. Little people doing carnival shows?
- 2:41Speaker 2: Sounds like I'd fit right in. Did I say little people?
- 2:45Speaker 2: You did. There's a few people. I didn't mean to
- 2:49Speaker 2: say little people. I was just curious. No, no, no.
- 2:52Speaker 2: I'm sorry about that. I meant to say a few people,
- 2:55Speaker 2: not a little people. But not literally little people. Oh,
- 3:00Speaker 2: my gosh, man. I am really digging a hole here.
- 3:03Speaker 2: But see, I'm already tired. But it'll be fun. It'll
- 3:07Speaker 2: be fun. And here's the crazy part. Are you ready
- 3:09Speaker 2: for this? She used AI. to plan the entire trip.
- 3:16Speaker 2: So in other words, she asked AI, what are some
- 3:19Speaker 2: restaurants we've never been to that you can help us
- 3:21Speaker 2: and suggest? And she is so excited because that we
- 3:25Speaker 2: have an entire list of places we've never been to.
- 3:28Speaker 2: Cause we had some really close friends. Uh, my dad,
- 3:30Speaker 2: best friend lived there for many years and we would
- 3:34Speaker 2: always tend to go to the same places that we
- 3:36Speaker 2: grew up going to, which is fine. I mean, Louie's backyard, uh,
- 3:40Speaker 2: there's a place called Latida, which I really like. Uh,
- 3:44Speaker 2: Blue Heaven. Well, exactly. And Blue Heaven Rendezvous, which is
- 3:50Speaker 2: another one. But anyway, Blue Heaven Rendezvous is one of
- 3:53Speaker 2: my favorite spots. Louie's Backyard is phenomenal, but it's a
- 3:59Speaker 2: five-star restaurant. No joke in Key West. And I don't
- 4:03Speaker 2: want to do fancy this time. I just want to
- 4:05Speaker 2: go there, relax, eat food. Uh, that's probably more on
- 4:09Speaker 2: the substandard side and enjoy myself. That's it.
- 4:12Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 4:12Speaker 4: I don't need fancy either. When I'm, when I'm down
- 4:14Speaker 4: on vacation, just give me all the seafood.
- 4:18Speaker 1: Right.
- 4:18Speaker 2: I don't care. Oh yeah. I don't care where it's from,
- 4:20Speaker 2: what it looks like. I just want all the seafood.
- 4:23Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 4:23Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 4:23Speaker 2: Well, that's what we're going to do. We're going to
- 4:25Speaker 2: stay at our favorite resort. And the nice part is
- 4:31Speaker 2: my dad's best friend, he passed away, but his wife's
- 4:35Speaker 2: going to be there. So we're going to have dinner
- 4:36Speaker 2: with her a few nights and spend some time with her.
- 4:40Speaker 2: And part of her family is going to be there.
- 4:42Speaker 2: So I'm looking forward to that. We're going to spend
- 4:43Speaker 2: some time with them. And so we'll talk about the
- 4:47Speaker 2: good old days. So anyway, yeah, I'm sure we'll be
- 4:49Speaker 2: talking about my dad quite a bit, which is fun
- 4:52Speaker 2: because my boys love hearing those stories. And his best
- 4:58Speaker 2: friend's wife, who's still very much alive, has all kinds
- 5:02Speaker 2: of stories and loves to talk about my mom and dad.
- 5:04Speaker 2: So I know my boys look forward to that. But anyway,
- 5:07Speaker 2: we're going to be doing that. So I'll be back.
- 5:10Speaker 2: A week from tomorrow. And then so I'll be back
- 5:13Speaker 2: on the air that Friday. We'll have a big day
- 5:15Speaker 2: Friday because it'll be the day before. There's no more
- 5:19Speaker 2: counting down of the jerseys. How many days are left
- 5:22Speaker 2: for UK football? Because we'll be ready then.
- 5:24Speaker 4: That's why you're going now. You just you're sick and
- 5:27Speaker 4: tired of the wait. And you think if you just
- 5:29Speaker 4: go out and have fun, time's going to fly. Next
- 5:32Speaker 4: thing you know, it'll be football. That's a great point.
- 5:34Speaker 4: I agree with you. Yes, I'm to the point where, okay,
- 5:39Speaker 4: enough of the jerseys. I just wanted to start.
- 5:41Speaker 2: No offense. Listen, I love it. My buddy or our buddy,
- 5:45Speaker 2: Corey Price, does. But it's like I wanted to start now.
- 5:48Speaker 2: I mean, I believe it's this weekend. That's week zero.
- 5:52Speaker 2: So we've got a few games. We'll talk about those
- 5:55Speaker 2: in a few minutes. But we got that. We got
- 5:59Speaker 2: all kinds of announcement on what UK is doing on
- 6:03Speaker 2: game day. Which is, listen, I love the effort. Will
- 6:09Speaker 2: it work? Don't know. But you won't have traditions unless
- 6:14Speaker 2: you start somewhere. And quite honestly, that's the thing that
- 6:17Speaker 2: frustrates me the most about UK. We don't have any
- 6:21Speaker 2: kind of fan experience tradition. Other than the big blue wall. Yeah,
- 6:28Speaker 2: but that's not anything. When I think of Florida, I
- 6:32Speaker 2: think of them playing Tom Petty and lighting their cell
- 6:35Speaker 2: phones up. When I think of South Carolina, I think
- 6:38Speaker 2: of that ridiculous song that they play before the game starts.
- 6:44Speaker 2: What is it called? Man, it's a weird song. Sandstorm.
- 6:49Speaker 2: They play that. When I think of, like, Virginia Tech,
- 6:53Speaker 2: they play heavy metal, which is Metallica, which I love that. And,
- 6:59Speaker 2: you know, you got Georgia. They got their whole barking
- 7:02Speaker 2: thing with the dogs. That's lame. You got Mississippi State.
- 7:07Speaker 2: They have the cowbells. And, of course, Alabama, they play
- 7:13Speaker 2: a band that's actually from North Florida, not even from Alabama.
- 7:17Speaker 2: But they play Sweet Home Alabama, right? I would imagine.
- 7:22Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 7:23Speaker 2: So that's what they play. That's their tradition. If I
- 7:26Speaker 2: said Kentucky, I mean, you might say Grove Street Party,
- 7:32Speaker 2: but I don't know. I mean, can't we do something
- 7:36Speaker 2: better than that? Or am I barking up the wrong tree?
- 7:40Speaker 4: You need to get on your guy, JD, to write
- 7:42Speaker 4: a UK football anthem.
- 7:46Speaker 3: Oh. Oh.
- 7:47Speaker 2: They challenged him on Kentucky Roll Call last week, and
- 7:49Speaker 2: I texted him.
- 7:50Speaker 4: Did they really? I was like, hey, you just got
- 7:52Speaker 4: challenged on Roll Call to come up with a UK
- 7:54Speaker 4: football anthem.
- 7:55Speaker 2: Did he respond? He laughed. He laughed?
- 7:58Speaker 4: Yeah, it wasn't like a response that I was hoping
- 8:00Speaker 4: he'd be like, oh, yeah, that's a good challenge.
- 8:02Speaker 2: I'll try to do that. But no, he just laughed. Like,
- 8:05Speaker 2: that's not happening. Oh, come on. Yeah, okay. I'll tell
- 8:09Speaker 2: you what. During break, I'm texting him. You know what?
- 8:12Speaker 2: Who came up with the idea? Was it Steven? I
- 8:14Speaker 2: think it was Peek. All right, Steven Peek. I'm going
- 8:17Speaker 2: to take that challenge, and I'm going to escalate it.
- 8:19Speaker 2: How's that? Because, you know, he wrote the... I am
- 8:23Speaker 2: from Kentucky or whatever that song is.
- 8:26Speaker 3: Huh?
- 8:27Speaker 2: Straight from Kentucky. Straight from Kentucky. Unbelievable song. Love that song.
- 8:32Speaker 2: And he's talking about Louisville Slugger. He's talking about Bardstown
- 8:35Speaker 2: and the bourbon. He's talking about everything Kentucky. We're at
- 8:39Speaker 2: Churchill Downs. Uh, he's talking about, I mean, everything. I
- 8:44Speaker 2: love that song straight from Kentucky. We need straight from
- 8:48Speaker 2: university of Kentucky. Okay. That's what we need from Rupp arena.
- 8:53Speaker 2: If he says Kroger, I'm going to shoot him, but
- 8:55Speaker 2: he's got to say Commonwealth stadium to Kentucky proud historic
- 9:02Speaker 2: Memorial Coliseum. Come on. What are you laughing at me for?
- 9:05Speaker 2: Because it's a great idea. It needs to be just
- 9:07Speaker 2: a UK football anthem. Not include everything else.
- 9:12Speaker 3: All right.
- 9:12Speaker 2: Because basketball's got the tradition. From Tim Couch to hefty
- 9:16Speaker 2: lefty Jared Lorenzen to Wesley Woodyard, Rich Brooks, Hal Mommy.
- 9:22Speaker 3: Oh, yeah.
- 9:23Speaker 2: Now you're on a good mindset. Stevie got loose. I mean, yeah.
- 9:26Speaker 2: Tom Leach yelling and Carl Nathie saying first down Kentucky.
- 9:31Speaker 2: That's it right there.
- 9:32Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 9:33Speaker 4: And you got to give a nod to Corey Price, too,
- 9:35Speaker 4: on the stats.
- 9:36Speaker 2: Oh really we have to give him really we gotta
- 9:38Speaker 2: give come on now i love cory but no we
- 9:40Speaker 2: don't need we gotta give no we don't need to
- 9:43Speaker 2: give him a nod okay he's a valuable part of
- 9:46Speaker 2: the broadcasting crew yeah i don't know if you realize
- 9:49Speaker 2: but yesterday was his birthday it was yeah it was
- 9:52Speaker 2: by the way happy birthday to him he thanked me
- 9:55Speaker 2: i can't tell you how many times Oh, me too.
- 9:57Speaker 2: And I will say, I had a lot of fun
- 10:00Speaker 2: yesterday with him. That's probably the most personality, and this
- 10:04Speaker 2: is not a knock on Corey. If you know Corey,
- 10:07Speaker 2: Corey kind of, every now and then doesn't have much personality.
- 10:10Speaker 2: A little dry. But yesterday is the most personality I've
- 10:14Speaker 2: ever seen him have.
- 10:14Speaker 3: Mm-hmm.
- 10:15Speaker 2: And it was a lot of fun. I liked that
- 10:17Speaker 2: side of Corey Price right there. It was fun.
- 10:19Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 10:20Speaker 2: I would consider Corey a good friend, but I don't know.
- 10:23Speaker 2: I probably wouldn't consider me a good friend. But anyway,
- 10:26Speaker 2: I just, I loved it. I enjoyed it. I enjoyed
- 10:29Speaker 2: the smile on his face and the recognition that he
- 10:31Speaker 2: got yesterday because that guy deserves it. I mean, every
- 10:34Speaker 2: time he turned around, I haven't seen it today, but
- 10:37Speaker 2: it's always happy birthday. Somebody else. Every Thanksgiving, every Christmas,
- 10:42Speaker 2: he sends me a personal text. And I really appreciate that.
- 10:46Speaker 2: So anyway, but yeah, we got to, we got to
- 10:48Speaker 2: give several nods out there. Rich Brooks, how mommy needs
- 10:52Speaker 2: to be included. I don't know if you'd say Bill Curry, Fran, Kersey,
- 10:55Speaker 2: you would, you got to put in there. I think
- 10:59Speaker 2: the recognitions should go to the bear. Oh, I know
- 11:04Speaker 2: Bill Curry. Cause he sucked. He was terrible. Yeah. And
- 11:08Speaker 2: probably not even Joker Phillips. Yeah. The, the, They were–
- 11:14Speaker 2: Joker was not good at all. Bill Curry was okay
- 11:18Speaker 2: at best. But, yeah, if I had to put the
- 11:20Speaker 2: rankings down of best coaches to worst coaches, I'd probably
- 11:25Speaker 2: put Bill Curry second to last and Joker Phillips as
- 11:29Speaker 2: the worst football coach at UK. Yeah. And I hate
- 11:32Speaker 2: to do that because I always like Joker. Sure. Who
- 11:35Speaker 2: is the greatest football coach to coach at UK? Do
- 11:37Speaker 2: you give the nod to Mark Stoops?
- 11:39Speaker 3: No.
- 11:40Speaker 2: Why not? I mean, he is the winningest coach at
- 11:43Speaker 2: the University of Kentucky. Yeah, but he was there longer
- 11:44Speaker 2: than anybody else. Okay, but he is the winningest coach.
- 11:47Speaker 2: You have to say Bear. Just because. You have to
- 11:49Speaker 2: say who? You have to say Bear. You do? Okay,
- 11:52Speaker 2: so Bear Bryant will be... Considered the greatest coach, yet
- 11:57Speaker 2: everybody doesn't even– I would bet 95% of the people
- 12:00Speaker 2: out there outside of Kentucky didn't even realize he coached
- 12:03Speaker 2: at UK. I mean, I didn't until I started doing
- 12:05Speaker 2: Sports Talk Radio, so. Yeah, see, exactly. My entire point
- 12:09Speaker 2: right there. Let me ask you this. We had an
- 12:11Speaker 2: interesting question come up on my show this morning. All right,
- 12:14Speaker 2: I'm ready for it.
- 12:15Speaker 4: If you had to cut– or let's just say the
- 12:17Speaker 4: SEC had to give the boot to one team, who
- 12:20Speaker 4: would that be?
- 12:21Speaker 2: Oh, that's easy, Missouri. Okay, yeah. Yeah. That's very simple.
- 12:26Speaker 2: Were you listening when we were talking about that? No,
- 12:27Speaker 2: I was not.
- 12:28Speaker 3: Okay.
- 12:28Speaker 2: Because that was, yeah, that was the easy answer. Really? Yeah.
- 12:31Speaker 2: I did the whole thing where I didn't have the
- 12:33Speaker 2: radio on again today. I don't know why. I've gotten
- 12:36Speaker 2: into that habit. I kind of like it. But I
- 12:39Speaker 2: need to listen to you because, well, first of all,
- 12:40Speaker 2: I love your show. And second of all, I want
- 12:42Speaker 2: to hear what you're talking about. But no, I didn't. No,
- 12:45Speaker 2: today was just a bunch of dolly. Who was your
- 12:49Speaker 2: pick for the SEC? I mean, it would have to
- 12:51Speaker 2: be Missouri. It's the only one that makes sense. Who
- 12:55Speaker 2: would be the second pick?
- 12:58Speaker 4: Probably Oklahoma.
- 13:05Speaker 3: Ooh.
- 13:07Speaker 2: Or maybe South Carolina. Only reason I say South Carolina
- 13:13Speaker 2: is because geographically it makes sense that they're in the SEC. Yeah,
- 13:17Speaker 2: but they could also make sense in the ACC. True.
- 13:20Speaker 3: True.
- 13:21Speaker 2: Yeah, but there's going to come a time when the
- 13:24Speaker 2: ACC falls apart, and it might not disintegrate where it's
- 13:29Speaker 2: no longer. I think it'll survive, but I think that
- 13:33Speaker 2: the mainstays, the staples of the ACC will be gone.
- 13:36Speaker 2: I think there will come a time Florida State, Miami, Duke,
- 13:41Speaker 2: North Carolina will all be gone. And maybe you can
- 13:45Speaker 2: make an argument for Virginia and Virginia Tech. And then
- 13:48Speaker 2: the ACC will be a shell of what it once was.
- 13:52Speaker 2: And where those schools go, I don't know. I really
- 13:56Speaker 2: firmly believe Florida State and Miami will be headed towards
- 13:59Speaker 2: the Big Ten. I firmly believe that. Because I think
- 14:03Speaker 2: Florida's really fighting to not allow Florida State into the SEC.
- 14:08Speaker 2: And I get that. Big Ten wouldn't really make sense
- 14:10Speaker 2: for them. Why not? Yeah, it would.
- 14:11Speaker 4: Sure it would. There's nobody else geographically around them.
- 14:16Speaker 3: Huh?
- 14:17Speaker 2: Yeah, but did UCLA and USC make sense? I mean,
- 14:21Speaker 2: at least they got Oregon and Washington too. At least
- 14:23Speaker 2: those four teams are out there together. Yeah, I guess so.
- 14:26Speaker 2: Whereas if you brought in a Miami, they're just kind
- 14:29Speaker 2: of on an island. No, but you'd bring in Florida
- 14:31Speaker 2: State along with them. So you got Miami and Florida
- 14:33Speaker 2: State down there. And the Big Ten would love to
- 14:36Speaker 2: have those eyes in Florida now have eyes on the
- 14:40Speaker 2: Big Ten Conference. Sure. So that's why I say it'll
- 14:43Speaker 2: be a package deal. It'll definitely be a package deal.
- 14:46Speaker 2: Just like with Duke and North Carolina. It'll be a
- 14:49Speaker 2: package deal. And I predict one day they'll be a
- 14:52Speaker 2: part of the SEC. Now, Virginia and Virginia Tech are
- 14:56Speaker 2: the lone ones because there aren't as many as in Virginia.
- 15:03Speaker 2: Because I've had a number of people ask me, don't
- 15:05Speaker 2: you think the state of Virginia would be next for
- 15:08Speaker 2: the SEC? And I'm like, no, there's not as many people.
- 15:10Speaker 2: It's not as big of a fan base.
- 15:12Speaker 4: But is that what it's about, or is it about
- 15:14Speaker 4: bringing in competent athletic programs that have a pretty good
- 15:17Speaker 4: history across the board of all the sports?
- 15:20Speaker 2: Partially. And it's a small portion of it. I would
- 15:23Speaker 2: say that's 20% of the reasoning. The vast majority of
- 15:27Speaker 2: the reasoning, Justin, is because money. What's going to bring
- 15:32Speaker 2: us the most money and what that money equates to
- 15:35Speaker 2: his eyeballs? Viewership. That's what it comes down to right there.
- 15:39Speaker 2: So that's where I think Virginia, Virginia Tech, they'll probably
- 15:43Speaker 2: stay in the ACC. I just don't foresee them coming over.
- 15:47Speaker 2: That's why I was kind of surprised Maryland going to
- 15:49Speaker 2: the Big Ten. Was that really a big deal for
- 15:52Speaker 2: the Big Ten?
- 15:53Speaker 3: No.
- 15:53Speaker 2: I don't know. You need to get Rutgers at the
- 15:55Speaker 2: same time. Yeah, but is that a big fan base?
- 15:59Speaker 2: I don't consider Maryland and Rutgers really that big of
- 16:02Speaker 2: a fan base. Oh, God, no.
- 16:04Speaker 4: I mean, Rutgers is– like, if I were to flip
- 16:06Speaker 4: that question to who's the first team you get rid
- 16:08Speaker 4: of in the Big Ten, Rutgers is the.
- 16:10Speaker 2: Oh, is it really? Absolutely. All right, if there was
- 16:12Speaker 2: a random team– let's forget all the teams I just mentioned.
- 16:16Speaker 2: If there was a random team that you would like
- 16:18Speaker 2: to see join the SEC– I have one team I've
- 16:23Speaker 2: always wanted to join the SEC. Is there one out
- 16:26Speaker 2: there that you think? Not Duke, North Carolina, nobody in
- 16:31Speaker 2: the ACC. Is there anybody out there you can think of?
- 16:36Speaker 2: They would get killed in football. Yes. But I would
- 16:40Speaker 2: like to see Kansas. Oh, really? Yeah. That's a wild
- 16:44Speaker 2: one because that's way out there. I've always said I
- 16:49Speaker 2: would love to see Tulane come back. You know, Tulane
- 16:52Speaker 2: was originally a part of the original SEC. I'd love
- 16:55Speaker 2: to see them come back. But bring Georgia Tech back
- 16:57Speaker 2: to them. Well, exactly. I think that would be great.
- 17:00Speaker 2: I don't think LSU would ever let it happen. I
- 17:02Speaker 2: don't know if Georgia would ever let Georgia Tech come
- 17:05Speaker 2: back yet. You know who would be really good in
- 17:06Speaker 2: the SEC? Who? Across the board. I think Texas Tech
- 17:10Speaker 2: would be really good. Ooh. Yeah. If the chance ever comes,
- 17:16Speaker 2: which I don't think in my lifetime it's going to happen,
- 17:19Speaker 2: if Notre Dame ever joins a conference, do you think
- 17:23Speaker 2: it's the Big Ten or the SEC? ACC. If it
- 17:29Speaker 2: wasn't the ACC? Big Ten. Yeah. They won't ever join
- 17:33Speaker 2: a conference. They won't, will they?
- 17:34Speaker 3: No.
- 17:34Speaker 2: Yeah, we're going to talk about them a little bit, so.
- 17:36Speaker 2: All right, let's go ahead and take our first break.
- 17:38Speaker 2: 502-384-1450 if you want to call in. 502-414-1450. You want
- 17:42Speaker 2: to text us on the Whiskey Thief text line. You
- 17:45Speaker 2: can also watch us on YouTube at Big X Sports
- 17:48Speaker 2: Radio Louisville. And we'd appreciate that. Do we have many
- 17:52Speaker 2: people on there right now? I don't know. I can't tell.
- 17:54Speaker 2: That's okay. So that means none. And that's okay. That
- 17:57Speaker 2: doesn't mean none. Oh, it doesn't? I'm sure there's a few.
- 17:59Speaker 2: I'm just not logged in to see. Okay. All right, then.
- 18:01Speaker 2: So do I look good? Eh, you look okay. Yeah,
- 18:04Speaker 2: that's exactly me. I had somebody yesterday tell me, you
- 18:08Speaker 2: look tired. It's like, wow, what a compliment. No joke.
- 18:12Speaker 2: It was Dale Roman's assistant trainer, Baltimore Bahena. Great guy.
- 18:20Speaker 2: Great name. Yeah, Baltimore. And everybody calls him Baltimore. And
- 18:24Speaker 2: it's like, it's not Baltimore. And he just puts up
- 18:27Speaker 2: with it. Would it irritate you if somebody called you
- 18:31Speaker 2: Justine or just mispronounced your first name and never said
- 18:35Speaker 2: it correctly? I mean, I don't know how you could
- 18:37Speaker 2: say it incorrectly. I don't either, but if you had
- 18:40Speaker 2: a name that said your last name then, how about your,
- 18:45Speaker 2: because your last name could be mispronounced.
- 18:47Speaker 4: So I went to pick up food from somewhere yesterday.
- 18:50Speaker 4: I had placed the order ahead of time, was picking
- 18:53Speaker 4: it up for me and my boss over at the
- 18:54Speaker 4: other station. And I walk in and she's like, you
- 18:57Speaker 4: have a pickup? And I was like, yep. And she goes, Keelan?
- 19:02Speaker 2: No way.
- 19:03Speaker 4: And I was like, I wanted to be like, I
- 19:05Speaker 4: almost told her, no, that wasn't me. And then I
- 19:07Speaker 4: had to look at the receipt and I saw my
- 19:09Speaker 4: name on it. I was like, yeah, that's me. But
- 19:11Speaker 4: it's Kalen.
- 19:12Speaker 2: See, exactly. So did it irritate you? Yeah. So Baltimore,
- 19:16Speaker 2: I don't think it frustrates him. He doesn't correct anybody.
- 19:20Speaker 2: All these other guys are out there calling Baltimore. And
- 19:23Speaker 2: it is hard to not say Baltimore, but it's Baltimore.
- 19:28Speaker 2: B-A-L-D as in dog. A-M-A-R. Baltimore. But people call him Baltimore.
- 19:34Speaker 2: Sounds like a name from Harry Potter. Oh, it does? Baltimore.
- 19:38Speaker 2: There's a name of a character in Harry Potter named Baltimore? Voldemort. Oh,
- 19:42Speaker 2: but with a V as in Victor?
- 19:44Speaker 3: Yeah. Ah.
- 19:45Speaker 2: He's the bad guy. Oh, he is? You're not supposed
- 19:46Speaker 2: to say his name. He might actually show up now. So,
- 19:49Speaker 2: I'm screwed. Okay, good. I've never read the book, so
- 19:53Speaker 2: it doesn't count for me, so I'm out. But, uh, it's... Voldemort,
- 19:58Speaker 2: if you want to come see Justin, he's right over
- 19:59Speaker 2: there in the next room. So, if you want to
- 20:01Speaker 2: come say hello to me, I'd appreciate it. You can
- 20:03Speaker 2: text me, 502-414-1450. You think Voldemort will text me?
- 20:06Speaker 3: No. No.
- 20:07Speaker 2: Alright, then. Let's take a break. A lot more. We're
- 20:10Speaker 2: going to talk about UK football when we come back
- 20:11Speaker 2: because I tell you what, these changes they're making, yeah,
- 20:15Speaker 2: there's some really good ones on here. Stay right there.
- 20:18Speaker 2: A lot more of Just the Cats coming right up.
- 20:21Speaker 3: We'll be right back. So far, so good.
- 20:57Speaker 2: You only say you love me when you're high. It's
- 21:01Speaker 2: like we go through the same every night. Oh, wow. 502-384-1450.
- 21:15Speaker 2: You want to call in 502-414-1450. If you want to
- 21:19Speaker 2: text in on the Whiskey Thief text line, I'll get
- 21:21Speaker 2: your text in just a couple of minutes. But everybody knows.
- 21:26Speaker 2: I mean, I know you talked about it extensively on
- 21:29Speaker 2: your show, but the passing of Dolly Parton at the
- 21:34Speaker 2: age of 80. Now, I had heard she had had
- 21:38Speaker 2: some bouts with illness over the last year, I guess.
- 21:42Speaker 2: And they said it was due to cancer, and it
- 21:44Speaker 2: was a short battle with cancer. Which is really sad.
- 21:48Speaker 2: Have you heard any more reports? I haven't read anything
- 21:51Speaker 2: as the specifics about it.
- 21:55Speaker 4: To me, that's one of those things where anytime you've
- 21:58Speaker 4: got a celebrity pass or somebody that's a well-known pass,
- 22:02Speaker 4: I'm always shocked by the initial announcement and kind of
- 22:05Speaker 4: saddened by it, but I never, ever have the desire
- 22:09Speaker 4: to go back and figure out exactly what happened.
- 22:11Speaker 2: Oh, really? You don't?
- 22:12Speaker 4: Like with the whole Hayden Panettiere thing last week, there's
- 22:15Speaker 4: been all kinds of reports coming out about that. I
- 22:18Speaker 4: haven't looked into them because I like to remember the
- 22:20Speaker 4: people for what I thought they were and the way
- 22:23Speaker 4: that I perceived them to be, and I'm always just
- 22:25Speaker 4: afraid that if I delve into what actually happened, maybe
- 22:29Speaker 4: I'll see something that I didn't really know about that
- 22:32Speaker 4: person or I didn't. They were involved in activities. I
- 22:35Speaker 4: didn't think they were something like that. So now I
- 22:37Speaker 4: always avoid trying to go back and look what actually happened.
- 22:40Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 22:41Speaker 2: Well, you know, I as far as movie now, I
- 22:44Speaker 2: don't know much about her music. I know she wrote
- 22:47Speaker 2: a song for and Whitney Houston covered it. I will
- 22:51Speaker 2: always love you. That's it right there. Yes. Which I
- 22:55Speaker 2: always thought, I don't know whose version I like more. Oh, Whitney,
- 22:58Speaker 2: for sure. You think so? Yeah.
- 23:01Speaker 4: So I went down a Dolly Parton rabbit hole last
- 23:03Speaker 4: night listening to a bunch of her music.
- 23:05Speaker 2: Yeah. And that song's really, really good, but it pales
- 23:10Speaker 2: in comparison to Whitney's version.
- 23:12Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 23:12Speaker 2: And I hate saying that. Yeah, yeah. Well, I love
- 23:16Speaker 2: both versions, but Whitney Houston, yeah.
- 23:17Speaker 3: She.
- 23:18Speaker 2: She was one of my favorite lady singers. I loved her.
- 23:22Speaker 2: But I probably remember Dolly more from, she was in
- 23:26Speaker 2: a movie back in the 80s called 9 to 5.
- 23:31Speaker 2: And one of my all-time favorite character actors was in
- 23:35Speaker 2: it named Dabney Coleman. He is hilarious. If you ever,
- 23:40Speaker 2: did you ever watch the movie You've Got Mail? With
- 23:43Speaker 2: Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan? I mean, yeah, probably a
- 23:46Speaker 2: long time. Okay, he plays Tom Hanks' dad. It's a great,
- 23:51Speaker 2: he's a great actor. So he was in that and
- 23:54Speaker 2: played a major role in it. But yeah, I'm sorry.
- 23:56Speaker 2: You asked me a little earlier, am I saddened by it? Absolutely.
- 24:01Speaker 2: What are my thoughts of Dolly Parton? She just seemed
- 24:03Speaker 2: like a person that was as genuine as they come.
- 24:07Speaker 2: She really did. And I always admired her because she
- 24:13Speaker 2: came from simple backgrounds. And I always got the feeling
- 24:17Speaker 2: she treated everybody the exact same. Doesn't matter where you
- 24:21Speaker 2: were from. Doesn't matter if you were a celebrity, had
- 24:24Speaker 2: tons of money, or you barely had anything and nobody
- 24:27Speaker 2: knew who you were. She treated you the exact same way.
- 24:30Speaker 2: And I love that. Now, I saw something where somebody
- 24:35Speaker 2: posted a state-by-state approval rating for Dolly Parton. You like this? Okay.
- 24:41Speaker 2: And they're all color-coded. The entire United States. So if
- 24:45Speaker 2: you got a red, you revered statewide Dolly Parton. If
- 24:52Speaker 2: you were a blue state, beloved by nearly all. If
- 24:56Speaker 2: you got a green state, deeply cherished. If you got
- 25:00Speaker 2: an orange, warmly adored. And then if you got a purple,
- 25:04Speaker 2: above all human beings, above all other human beings. Now,
- 25:11Speaker 2: I was kind of surprised they picked Kentucky. Hang on.
- 25:14Speaker 2: Let me guess. Okay. All right. I'm ready. All right.
- 25:16Speaker 2: Let me go through the choices again. I don't need
- 25:18Speaker 2: the first one. It's not the first. Revered statewide. Beloved
- 25:21Speaker 2: by nearly all. Deeply cherished. Warmly adored. Above all other
- 25:25Speaker 2: human beings. What do you think Kentucky is? I'm going
- 25:29Speaker 2: to go green. Are you? Deeply cherished. They chose blue. Okay.
- 25:34Speaker 2: Beloved by nearly all. That was going to be my
- 25:36Speaker 2: first guess. Really? I changed. I would have figured they
- 25:40Speaker 2: would have said deeply cherished. I would have said green.
- 25:44Speaker 2: I think she was beloved by everybody in Kentucky. Am
- 25:48Speaker 2: I wrong about that? What would anybody have against Dolly Parton? Yeah,
- 25:52Speaker 2: that's a great question. Really? I mean, I don't know. Again,
- 25:56Speaker 2: I'm not a country music fan. I don't know much
- 25:59Speaker 2: about her music, but I certainly know who she was.
- 26:02Speaker 2: And would I say I admired her? Absolutely. Did I
- 26:08Speaker 2: adore her? Absolutely. And I would cherish her. And it just,
- 26:14Speaker 2: it is sad. But I'm just kind of surprised by it. Obviously,
- 26:17Speaker 2: Tennessee got the purple. I should have called my mom
- 26:19Speaker 2: last night. Why?
- 26:21Speaker 4: Because she's, so my mom's a big country music fan,
- 26:24Speaker 4: always has been. But there's a certain sound with country
- 26:28Speaker 4: music that she doesn't really much care for.
- 26:30Speaker 2: Which is?
- 26:32Speaker 4: Very much Dolly Parton. Like, just that slower, like, high-pitched voice.
- 26:37Speaker 4: She doesn't much care for that sound. So I'm curious
- 26:41Speaker 4: what her thought was when she heard that news yesterday.
- 26:43Speaker 2: Oh, I'm sure she's saddened by it. I mean, anytime
- 26:46Speaker 2: you lose somebody, because I've known Dolly Parton all my life.
- 26:52Speaker 2: And when you see these celebrities start passing away, it's
- 26:55Speaker 2: kind of sad. Like, she had that iconic laugh, that
- 26:59Speaker 2: really high-pitched, iconic laugh. And I loved that. Anyway, anytime
- 27:03Speaker 2: she would be on one of the late night shows,
- 27:06Speaker 2: I'd love to watch it. Now, did I go seek
- 27:07Speaker 2: it out?
- 27:08Speaker 3: No.
- 27:08Speaker 2: But if she was on, I certainly would pay attention.
- 27:10Speaker 2: I loved her. Just kind of like, I'll tell you
- 27:14Speaker 2: another guy that I just loved and I hate. I
- 27:17Speaker 2: went down a rabbit hole a couple of days ago
- 27:19Speaker 2: on YouTube. It just came up. Regis Philbin. I always
- 27:23Speaker 2: thought he was just unbelievably funny. Do you even know
- 27:27Speaker 2: who I'm talking about?
- 27:27Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 27:28Speaker 2: Who wants to be a millionaire? Exactly. And he was
- 27:31Speaker 2: the original host. Yesterday would have been his birthday. Oh, really? Yep.
- 27:35Speaker 2: That's interesting. I bring him up. He shared the same.
- 27:39Speaker 2: Did Corey bring him up? No, he was brought up
- 27:41Speaker 2: on Spears on Sports. Oh, interesting. I loved Regis Feldman.
- 27:45Speaker 2: I just thought he was unbelievably funny. But the whole,
- 27:49Speaker 2: I'm sorry to see these people pass away. Now, when
- 27:54Speaker 2: I see singers that I've loved all my life, You know,
- 27:57Speaker 2: Jimmy Buffett, when he passed away, that was just so
- 28:00Speaker 2: sad for me because I loved his music. When I
- 28:03Speaker 2: see one day it's going to come when Tom Selleck,
- 28:07Speaker 2: who is my favorite show on TV, Magnum Pia, that'll
- 28:11Speaker 2: be sad for me. So, yeah, I'm sad for Dolly Parton.
- 28:15Speaker 2: But anyway, what was the song that you would consider
- 28:20Speaker 2: Dolly Parton's biggest, most noticeable song?
- 28:27Speaker 4: I mean, it probably is Jolene, but like I said
- 28:30Speaker 4: on my show this morning, that song probably doesn't even
- 28:33Speaker 4: crack my top five of.
- 28:35Speaker 2: My favorite personal ones. You know that many, really? Oh, yeah. Michael,
- 28:39Speaker 2: I work at a country music store. Oh, that's fair. Okay,
- 28:41Speaker 2: sorry about that. I know all kinds of dollars. I'm sorry.
- 28:43Speaker 2: I forgot about that. Yeah, you're exactly correct. What an idiot.
- 28:46Speaker 2: But no, I mean, my personal favorite would be 9
- 28:49Speaker 2: to 5. Oh, really? It's so upbeat and fun and
- 28:53Speaker 2: just gets you excited.
- 28:54Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 28:54Speaker 2: Yeah. Even though it's a song about work, it's still
- 28:57Speaker 2: a fun song. Yeah. I think Larry bought the other
- 29:02Speaker 2: part because he's always going down to Dollywood and posting
- 29:08Speaker 2: his time at Dollywood. Have you ever been to Dollywood,
- 29:10Speaker 2: by the way? I've never been to Dollywood. I haven't either.
- 29:12Speaker 2: Did you know that she covered college tuition and books
- 29:18Speaker 2: and housing for all of her employees at Dollywood? No,
- 29:21Speaker 2: I did not. Isn't that insane? Yeah. Yeah. Have you
- 29:24Speaker 2: ever heard of a more giving person? No, absolutely not.
- 29:27Speaker 2: I mean, that's just, that's unbelievable. I had no idea
- 29:30Speaker 2: she did something like that, but good for her. So
- 29:34Speaker 2: one person texted in, I feel like the conference says, well,
- 29:37Speaker 2: let's get to that in a minute. But anyways, one
- 29:41Speaker 2: person said, sad to hear about Ms. Pardon when I
- 29:43Speaker 2: was younger. One of my favorite movies was The Little Rascals.
- 29:49Speaker 2: For some reason, I would always get confused with Dolly
- 29:52Speaker 2: and Reba McIntyre when Reba was in the film. There
- 29:55Speaker 2: couldn't be any more opposite. Yeah, exactly. How do you
- 30:00Speaker 2: confuse Reba McIntyre with Dolly Parton? Good gosh. I mean,
- 30:06Speaker 2: there's three definite big differences right there, okay? But probably
- 30:11Speaker 2: because they were both Southern Belles with fake. Wait a minute.
- 30:15Speaker 2: Did Reba McIntyre have fake boobs? No. I didn't think so.
- 30:19Speaker 2: And if she did, they're not dolly size. Yeah, fake
- 30:22Speaker 2: bosoms as big as the Smoky Mountains. Jokes aside, what
- 30:26Speaker 2: she did outside of music, she was an incredible woman
- 30:30Speaker 2: with a pure heart. Rest in peace, Queen. Did you
- 30:33Speaker 2: see what Empire State Building did last night? I saw
- 30:37Speaker 2: you posted something about it, but no, I didn't look
- 30:40Speaker 2: into it. I think it was at 925, to honor her,
- 30:45Speaker 2: they had the building lights go pink and sparkly, and
- 30:51Speaker 2: they would sparkle.
- 30:51Speaker 3: Oh, yeah.
- 30:52Speaker 2: And I thought, okay, when you're an icon, that is
- 30:55Speaker 2: what happens. Here's a little lady from eastern Tennessee, and she's,
- 31:02Speaker 2: Created this unbelievable mega personality and firm that she had
- 31:08Speaker 2: for herself. Unbelievable acting and recording career. And the lights
- 31:15Speaker 2: go up just for her in New York City. That's
- 31:17Speaker 2: pretty cool. That is cool. You can say whatever you want.
- 31:20Speaker 2: That's pretty stinking cool. By the way, Texter was right.
- 31:22Speaker 2: Reba did get a boob job. She did?
- 31:25Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 31:26Speaker 2: But it still pales in comparison to Dolly. Huh. Okay.
- 31:31Speaker 2: All right, then. Well, there you go. $ 35, 000.
- 31:36Speaker 3: What?
- 31:36Speaker 2: Yeah. So much it cost her. How did they know this?
- 31:42Speaker 2: I don't know. There's kind of like a thing called HIPAA.
- 31:46Speaker 2: And somebody released the fact that they. Wow. Okay. Well,
- 31:51Speaker 2: there you go. I used to think she was really pretty. Reba? No,
- 31:55Speaker 2: I've never been into Reba. Yeah. I thought she was
- 31:57Speaker 2: really pretty. Yeah. I mean, I love her music, but
- 31:59Speaker 2: I've never been. been attracted to her old crooked mouth
- 32:02Speaker 2: yeah oh yeah back in the day i thought she
- 32:04Speaker 2: was you know somewhat attractive come on now uh but
- 32:07Speaker 2: anyway uh all right let's get to a couple of
- 32:10Speaker 2: these um one person said i think jennifer lawrence has
- 32:15Speaker 2: a pretty good sense of humor even if michael doesn't
- 32:18Speaker 2: know who she is hey oh yeah why are we
- 32:22Speaker 2: talking about that i don't know i don't either okay
- 32:24Speaker 2: well i'm gonna give you crap for not knowing who
- 32:26Speaker 2: she was I know who she is now. Yeah, I
- 32:29Speaker 2: did not know who she was. Man, her mom didn't let...
- 32:32Speaker 2: A year later, she's like, yeah, I remember you, Michael.
- 32:35Speaker 2: You're an idiot. And that made me laugh. One person said,
- 32:39Speaker 2: Jerry Klaber needs mentioning for football in the 80s. Yes,
- 32:43Speaker 2: he does. Could not agree more. Because he took a
- 32:46Speaker 2: team that was 0-10-1, I think is what it was.
- 32:50Speaker 2: At least he got a tie. Yeah. He took over
- 32:52Speaker 2: for Fran Kersey. And had a horrible scene. He was
- 32:56Speaker 2: begging players to try out for him. And turned the
- 33:01Speaker 2: whole program around. And I remember watching Paul Calhoun play
- 33:07Speaker 2: DB and punter from Bishop David. Wow, that's pretty cool.
- 33:11Speaker 2: I remember Paul Calhoun. It's my football, and I want
- 33:15Speaker 2: it now. Call J.J. Winworth 877-FOOTBALL-NOW. 877-FOOTBALL-NOW. Those are good
- 33:26Speaker 2: commercials right there. J.J. Whitworth, I don't mind plugging him.
- 33:30Speaker 2: Nobody's going to use him after me saying it. But
- 33:33Speaker 2: I Believe Blue is probably the most Kentucky-centric song by
- 33:38Speaker 2: Ryan Parker. I've never heard that song. Never heard of
- 33:42Speaker 2: Ryan Parker. Have you? Yeah, I know back in the
- 33:46Speaker 2: Rich Brooks era, there were a few players that made
- 33:50Speaker 2: a video and a song. I saw it, I think
- 33:54Speaker 2: it was last week. That was unbelievable. I loved it,
- 33:58Speaker 2: and they started playing it before the games. And I
- 34:00Speaker 2: missed that. I think they should do an updated version
- 34:03Speaker 2: of that song. Because that was kind of the time,
- 34:06Speaker 2: why not Kentucky? And I loved it. So I don't
- 34:10Speaker 2: know if you can find that or not. Maybe play that.
- 34:12Speaker 2: But it had Wesley Woodyard. Kenan Burton was in it.
- 34:17Speaker 2: trying to think who else but it was it was
- 34:20Speaker 2: a really good video that and they used it as
- 34:23Speaker 2: pump up uh another good movie that i really had
- 34:26Speaker 2: no business watching when i was young the best little
- 34:29Speaker 2: whorehouse in texas with dolly and burt reynolds yeah you
- 34:33Speaker 2: know that's funny you mentioned that texas scandalous exactly because
- 34:38Speaker 2: i asked my mom what what is a whorehouse She
- 34:41Speaker 2: didn't like me asking. It's like, what did I do?
- 34:44Speaker 2: I have no idea what it is. And she's like, Michael,
- 34:46Speaker 2: don't ask that question. Please don't use that word again.
- 34:48Speaker 2: So I never knew what a whorehouse was until later
- 34:50Speaker 2: in life. It's like, oops, maybe I shouldn't have said that.
- 34:52Speaker 2: Ask the 49ers owner. Oh, that's it. Thank you, Texas. Oh,
- 34:56Speaker 2: my gosh. You didn't just say that. Ask the 149ers.
- 34:59Speaker 2: That made me laugh. I mean, this should be the 149ers.
- 35:11Speaker 2: Don't you think? All the kids out there listening, please
- 35:15Speaker 2: don't ask your mom or dad right now what we're
- 35:17Speaker 2: talking about. Okay, good. Yeah. Are people really going to
- 35:21Speaker 2: go crazy with this this year? Yeah, they are, just
- 35:25Speaker 2: to let you know. One person said the Believe rap.
- 35:28Speaker 2: That's it. Look it up. Don't play it as a comeback,
- 35:32Speaker 2: but I want you to. We're going to play that
- 35:35Speaker 2: for a second, and you tell me what you think
- 35:36Speaker 2: of it. I thought it was fantastic. We're going to
- 35:39Speaker 2: play that. So anyway, oh, we got to take a break.
- 35:42Speaker 2: We're going to talk about UK and what Greg Sankey
- 35:44Speaker 2: said when we come back. And plus, I'll get back
- 35:47Speaker 2: to your text as well. Stay right there. More of
- 35:49Speaker 2: Just the Cats is coming up on this Wednesday.
- 36:33Speaker 4: Two jumps in a week, I bet you think that's
- 36:36Speaker 4: pretty clever, don't.
- 36:39Speaker 3: You, boy? Flying on your motorcycle, watching all the.
- 36:47Speaker 2: Ground beneath you drop.
- 36:51Speaker 4: You give yourself a record.
- 36:57Speaker 2: That kind of brings the mood down just a touch.
- 37:00Speaker 2: I like this song. Well done. Good selection. Really? Why?
- 37:04Speaker 2: Bringing the mood down. Okay, I thought you were being
- 37:07Speaker 2: sincere for a minute, but don't leave me high, don't
- 37:10Speaker 2: leave me dry. Come on. When am I ever sincere,
- 37:13Speaker 2: Michael Bennett? Never. I mean, I could be over here
- 37:16Speaker 2: pouring my heart out and you'd make fun of me.
- 37:18Speaker 2: Kind of like the last guy I worked with, by
- 37:21Speaker 2: the way. Josh texted out, I feel like the conference's
- 37:24Speaker 2: hands were forced. Everything is off the rails. Granted, it
- 37:27Speaker 2: hurts UK, but this has to be done going forward
- 37:33Speaker 2: to have some regulation. Got to get back to this
- 37:36Speaker 2: nine to five. How many people you know that pass
- 37:40Speaker 2: away that none has a crossword about? Legendary. Her husband, Carl,
- 37:48Speaker 2: still ran an asphalt company for years while he She
- 37:52Speaker 2: did her thing. What a humble life. Many blessings to her. Yeah.
- 37:55Speaker 2: It is so true.
- 37:57Speaker 4: You never hear of somebody passing and there's not a
- 38:00Speaker 4: bad word being said about them.
- 38:03Speaker 2: That's very, very rare. It is. But, you know, even
- 38:08Speaker 2: if there were some sticky moments in the past of
- 38:11Speaker 2: that person and they passed away, I wouldn't say anything
- 38:14Speaker 2: bad about them. I would have a hard time. Saying
- 38:19Speaker 2: anything bad about them. But you're right. There was nothing
- 38:21Speaker 2: bad about that lady. I mean, you can't say anything
- 38:23Speaker 2: bad about Dolly. No, not at all. Is there anybody
- 38:26Speaker 2: else out there still living that you feel like you
- 38:29Speaker 2: could never, even alive, couldn't say anything bad about? The Pope. Oh,
- 38:33Speaker 2: my gosh. Ask the Cubs fans. I don't know if
- 38:37Speaker 2: that's true. The Cubs fans might have something bad to
- 38:40Speaker 2: say about him. That's a good point. Is there anybody
- 38:44Speaker 2: else besides the Pope? Cause I think that is a
- 38:47Speaker 2: good one.
- 38:47Speaker 4: I mean, there's probably lots of like Warren Buffett. He's
- 38:51Speaker 4: still with us, right?
- 38:52Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 38:53Speaker 2: You could probably say that. Yeah. I don't know if
- 38:56Speaker 2: some of his former business partners would agree. Cause you know,
- 38:59Speaker 2: business wise, he was cutthroat and he made tough decisions,
- 39:02Speaker 2: but that's what, what made him a wealthy person. Uh,
- 39:06Speaker 2: I'm trying to think if there's anybody else. I see.
- 39:08Speaker 2: I would have said like Jack lemon, famous old actor
- 39:12Speaker 2: that I loved. Uh, Uh, shucks, man. What about Clint Eastwood? Ooh,
- 39:18Speaker 2: that's a great one. I don't know if his former
- 39:21Speaker 2: wives would say anything good about him. Wives plural. Oh yeah.
- 39:25Speaker 2: He's been married multiple times. I mean, he is 112.
- 39:28Speaker 2: I know there is. Come on. He's, He's probably, besides
- 39:32Speaker 2: Bill Murray, my second favorite all-time actor. I loved him.
- 39:38Speaker 2: He's 96. Is he really? That's crazy. Wow. Okay. I mean...
- 39:50Speaker 2: There's got to be more people out there that I'm
- 39:52Speaker 2: just completely blanking on. Oh, I'm sure. That you would
- 39:55Speaker 2: have a hard time saying anything negative about. I mean,
- 39:59Speaker 2: Robin Williams. I don't think anybody could say anything bad
- 40:03Speaker 2: about him other than he was married multiple times too.
- 40:07Speaker 2: What is it about celebrities that get married a bunch?
- 40:10Speaker 2: Dolly Parton was married just to one guy, right? I
- 40:12Speaker 2: believe so. But they never had kids. Is that fair
- 40:15Speaker 2: to say? I don't think they had kids. I don't
- 40:17Speaker 2: think so either. Yeah.
- 40:18Speaker 3: Anyway.
- 40:19Speaker 2: I feel like that Josh texted out. I feel like
- 40:21Speaker 2: the conference hands were forced. Did I just read this? Yeah,
- 40:24Speaker 2: I did. I'm sorry about that. All right. Let's talk
- 40:27Speaker 2: about the conference because Greg Sankey released a statement yesterday
- 40:30Speaker 2: that the SEC will enforce the following policy. All right.
- 40:35Speaker 2: Let's talk about the following policy. The policy said that
- 40:39Speaker 2: an institution is not permitted to have an athlete on
- 40:42Speaker 2: its roster who has, number one, previously declared for the NFL, NBA,
- 40:47Speaker 2: or WNBA draft and did not appropriately withdraw. Number two,
- 40:52Speaker 2: signed a contract with an NFL or other professional football league,
- 40:56Speaker 2: NBA G League, or WNBA or affiliate team. Or, been
- 41:03Speaker 2: listed on an NFL or other professional football league, NBA
- 41:08Speaker 2: G League or WNBA or affiliate roster. The commissioner is
- 41:12Speaker 2: authorized to enforce this expectation with penalties against member institutions. Now,
- 41:20Speaker 2: how does this affect Mark Mitchell? I don't think it does.
- 41:27Speaker 2: How does this affect Alex Afari? To my knowledge, I
- 41:32Speaker 2: don't think it does. See, exactly. I mean, Afari was
- 41:37Speaker 2: undrafted and was not invited to an NFL training camp.
- 41:42Speaker 2: Mitchell went undrafted and only signed an Exhibit 10 contract
- 41:49Speaker 2: that allowed him to play in Summer League with the Nuggets.
- 41:54Speaker 2: Mitchell has not agreed to any deal with the NBA
- 41:57Speaker 2: team for the 26-27 season. And Big Ten's language stated
- 42:04Speaker 2: that Afari would be eligible. So you look at this, man,
- 42:09Speaker 2: I feel kind of good about it as far as
- 42:12Speaker 2: I'm concerned. Now, what is a Exhibit 10 contract? Let
- 42:19Speaker 2: me define that for you. A one-year non-guaranteed minimum salary
- 42:24Speaker 2: NBA deal that allows a team to secure a player's
- 42:27Speaker 2: G League rights if they are cut before the season.
- 42:32Speaker 2: As far as I'm concerned, I see Alex Safari playing
- 42:35Speaker 2: football this year for Kentucky and Mark Mitchell playing basketball
- 42:38Speaker 2: for Kentucky. How do you feel? The exact same way.
- 42:43Speaker 4: By everything I've read, and there's still a lot in
- 42:46Speaker 4: these things that are going to be confusing, but to me,
- 42:50Speaker 4: from everything I've read, it feels like they're both going
- 42:52Speaker 4: to be eligible.
- 42:53Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 42:54Speaker 2: I kind of feel the same way. So I don't
- 42:58Speaker 2: see it any other way. Now, the part that concerns
- 43:01Speaker 2: me the most, is this starting a whole new level
- 43:04Speaker 2: of lawsuits? I mean, it will for this year. But
- 43:09Speaker 2: not next year.
- 43:10Speaker 4: It's like Josh said, you have to make these regulations now.
- 43:12Speaker 4: So moving forward, you're going to be good to go.
- 43:14Speaker 4: And you kind of just got to deal with the
- 43:17Speaker 4: consequences of this year now. And then moving forward, you'll
- 43:20Speaker 4: be fine.
- 43:22Speaker 2: Yeah, but, you know, if they do allow some of
- 43:26Speaker 2: these players to play, then they're setting a precedent. And
- 43:29Speaker 2: then that allows for all these lawsuits to start next year.
- 43:32Speaker 2: It's like, well, wait a minute. You let those players. No,
- 43:34Speaker 2: because moving forward, the five for five is a thing. Yeah.
- 43:38Speaker 2: So there should be. Oh, that's right. That's right. In theory,
- 43:41Speaker 2: there should not be any lawsuits moving forward.
- 43:44Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 43:45Speaker 2: But I don't know. I mean, I've heard all the
- 43:48Speaker 2: NFL talk. Coaches out there saying, listen, you're professional. If
- 43:52Speaker 2: you play in the NFL, you can't go back to college.
- 43:56Speaker 2: I feel like that should be the way, but there's
- 43:57Speaker 2: still professional players in college. And how do you stop that?
- 44:02Speaker 2: You just can't stop it. But, I mean, this is just,
- 44:04Speaker 2: it's gotten crazy. All I want to do is watch
- 44:06Speaker 2: college sports. And I feel like it's just been such
- 44:09Speaker 2: a negative distraction for college athletics. I wonder if it'll
- 44:13Speaker 2: hurt the NIL because people, the big donors is like,
- 44:16Speaker 2: I've had enough. I don't want to be a part
- 44:19Speaker 2: of any of this. Do you think it will have
- 44:21Speaker 2: an effect?
- 44:23Speaker 4: Maybe a little bit, but I mean, people with a
- 44:25Speaker 4: lot of money more times than not want people to
- 44:27Speaker 4: know they have a lot of money. So if their
- 44:29Speaker 4: names associated with the donation going towards NIL, then they're,
- 44:33Speaker 4: they're not going.
- 44:34Speaker 2: To stop doing. Yeah. Well, We'll see. Michael, I believe
- 44:38Speaker 2: this is from John. I still believe Mitchell will play
- 44:42Speaker 2: this season for Coach Pope in Kentucky basketball. Also, just
- 44:45Speaker 2: wanted to say you've got gold segments and some really
- 44:49Speaker 2: funny lines on the radio. While talking to Justin on Crosstalk,
- 44:55Speaker 2: the Dolly comment, and then you saying someone would probably
- 44:58Speaker 2: have to pay you to show them your chest had
- 45:01Speaker 2: me spit out my toothpaste and toothbrush. You're awesome, my friend.
- 45:06Speaker 2: Safe travels. There you go.
- 45:08Speaker 4: By the way, John just did send me a tweet
- 45:11Speaker 4: from Jack Pilgrim last night as well. Apparently, Mark Mitchell
- 45:14Speaker 4: did not sign an Exhibit 10 contract.
- 45:16Speaker 2: Exactly. That's what I said. Didn't I say that? No,
- 45:19Speaker 2: he didn't sign one. I thought you had said he
- 45:21Speaker 2: signed one. No, no, no, no, no, no. He didn't sign.
- 45:23Speaker 2: If I did, then that was a mistake. No, he
- 45:25Speaker 2: never signed one. I was just saying that I wanted
- 45:28Speaker 2: to define it, which Mark Mitchell never signed one. Is
- 45:33Speaker 2: what they're saying. So that wasn't just that guy that
- 45:37Speaker 2: had that out there. There were multiple sources that said
- 45:40Speaker 2: he did not time one.
- 45:41Speaker 4: I could not get past it on Twitter last night.
- 45:44Speaker 4: That's all my timeline was. Actually, to the point, Nick
- 45:48Speaker 4: Rouse tweeted out. He said, I need less of this
- 45:50Speaker 4: stuff and more Dolly Parton.
- 45:51Speaker 2: Oh, I saw that tweet. I was like, that's a
- 45:53Speaker 2: great tweet. Hey, Michael and Justin, I was just thinking
- 45:57Speaker 2: of this question. If you could put together some of
- 45:59Speaker 2: the all-time greats for Kentucky football, including the coaching staff,
- 46:03Speaker 2: and have them play a three-game series against each other,
- 46:07Speaker 2: who would win? Of course, I'm taking the Wildcats. Well done, John.
- 46:14Speaker 4: I think I would go Wildcats as well, for what
- 46:16Speaker 4: it's worth.
- 46:17Speaker 2: Yeah, exactly. Well, I mean, anybody, well, we can't talk
- 46:21Speaker 2: about it right now because we've got to go to
- 46:22Speaker 2: hour two. All right, we'll talk about that next hour.
- 46:24Speaker 2: How's that? Plus, we got to talk about what's going
- 46:29Speaker 2: on with football. I mean, I kind of like these
- 46:32Speaker 2: things they're trying to do. So stay right there. Hour
- 46:34Speaker 2: 2 coming right up.
- 46:55Speaker 1: Welcome to Just the Cats with Michael Bennett.
- 47:02Speaker 3: 502-384-1450.
- 47:03Speaker 2: You want to call 502-414-1450. You want to text in.
- 47:07Speaker 2: So University of Kentucky football revealed yesterday what the fan
- 47:12Speaker 2: experience enhancements are going to be for the upcoming season.
- 47:18Speaker 2: And listen, I like the effort. They're going to have
- 47:22Speaker 2: a new host out there. I don't know how that's
- 47:24Speaker 2: going to work out. But the host thing is always
- 47:26Speaker 2: dumb to me. I hate to say that. I don't know.
- 47:30Speaker 2: Are you a host? Do you like those people that
- 47:31Speaker 2: come out there and try to? I mean, if they're
- 47:34Speaker 2: good enough. If they're good enough. We'll see. The last lady,
- 47:39Speaker 2: I'm sure she was very nice. She didn't get the
- 47:42Speaker 2: crowd riled up. And I don't know. We'll see how
- 47:46Speaker 2: this works out. But I do like what they're doing.
- 47:51Speaker 2: Lower prices on select concession items. We'll talk about that
- 47:54Speaker 2: in a minute. New UK intros, team intros, as part
- 47:59Speaker 2: of expanded pregame experience. I have no idea what that means,
- 48:05Speaker 2: but I like it. even though it's not clearly defined,
- 48:09Speaker 2: but listen, they're making an effort. The intro is expected
- 48:13Speaker 2: to include some band and spirit interaction with the crowd.
- 48:17Speaker 2: I like that. Don't know what it means, but I
- 48:21Speaker 2: like it. And there'll be game by game fan themes
- 48:25Speaker 2: and more in stadium engagements. I mean, again, I like this,
- 48:32Speaker 2: but it has to come down to where it's not
- 48:34Speaker 2: a hodgepodge. We're not doing something different every game. We
- 48:37Speaker 2: need to pick something and try and stick with it
- 48:40Speaker 2: for the entire season. I mean, if you see midway
- 48:44Speaker 2: through the season, it's just not going well. Come up
- 48:47Speaker 2: with something else. But I like the fact that they
- 48:50Speaker 2: are trying to do something at UK for the football
- 48:52Speaker 2: and get the crowd involved because we got to get
- 48:55Speaker 2: the crowd involved. Huh? It's just yet another instance of
- 48:58Speaker 2: the athletic department doing something what they feel is necessary. Yeah, exactly. Yeah.
- 49:04Speaker 2: They are hitting home runs every single time. And I
- 49:07Speaker 2: love this. I wish they would defining a little more.
- 49:11Speaker 2: So the fact that we're prepared as a fan base,
- 49:14Speaker 2: knowing what's going to happen, not just, Oh, Hey, let's
- 49:17Speaker 2: introduce this. The first game. No, we want to be prepared.
- 49:20Speaker 2: for Youngstown State. So Youngstown State's offense can't call it.
- 49:24Speaker 2: They got to do hand signals because the crowd is
- 49:27Speaker 2: so loud. Do you think there will be a big crowd?
- 49:30Speaker 2: Will it be a sellout? Will it be a completely
- 49:34Speaker 2: full stadium at Commonwealth for the very first game of
- 49:38Speaker 2: Will Stein?
- 49:39Speaker 4: I don't think so. I think it'll be pretty dang close,
- 49:43Speaker 4: but I don't think it gets to sell out.
- 49:44Speaker 2: You don't think so?
- 49:45Speaker 3: No.
- 49:46Speaker 2: Yeah. Alabama will be. For sure. Without a doubt. Yeah. But, yeah,
- 49:51Speaker 2: I'm kind of with you. I think the corners, it's
- 49:53Speaker 2: usually on the visitor side, the upper deck corners that
- 49:58Speaker 2: are kind of empty. I think the student section will
- 50:00Speaker 2: be full. I think the students are real excited about
- 50:03Speaker 2: a brand new team. But I like what they're doing here. So, listen,
- 50:08Speaker 2: no complaints. Athletic department is doing a phenomenal job. J-Bet,
- 50:12Speaker 2: all kudos to you. UK football for refreshing everything. And
- 50:16Speaker 2: it's great. Now, here's the other part. Hot dogs. They're
- 50:22Speaker 2: going from $ 5 to $ 3. Pretzels, $ 5 to $ 3. Nachos,
- 50:23Speaker 2: $ 6 to $ 4. Popcorn, $ 4 to $ 3. A chicken basket
- 50:34Speaker 2: going from $ 13 to $ 10 and a soda or a
- 50:41Speaker 2: water is going from $ 7 to $ 4. Here is the
- 50:44Speaker 2: part that is shocking to me. Beer. I worry about this.
- 50:49Speaker 2: I don't. You don't? No, because that's going to have
- 50:51Speaker 2: the stadium loud as all get out. Are you ready
- 50:54Speaker 2: for how much they decrease the price of beer or
- 50:57Speaker 2: do you know?
- 50:57Speaker 1: I know.
- 50:58Speaker 2: $ 10 to $ 5. They cut it in half, which everything
- 51:05Speaker 2: else wasn't cut in half, but beer is going from
- 51:10Speaker 2: $ 10 to $ 5. Well, everything else doesn't get cut in
- 51:14Speaker 2: half because it doesn't have the same effect on the crowd.
- 51:18Speaker 2: Sugar them up!
- 51:19Speaker 4: What are you talking about? No, you give people cheap beer,
- 51:22Speaker 4: they're going to be loud, they're going to be cheering.
- 51:24Speaker 2: And they're going to be fighting, too, is what scares me. No.
- 51:28Speaker 2: You don't think so? Okay, good. I hope not. I
- 51:31Speaker 2: worry about a game like Tennessee and UofL. I mean,
- 51:37Speaker 2: you're going to get fights in those games regardless. You
- 51:40Speaker 2: think so? Whether beer's a thing or not. Yeah. Well,
- 51:45Speaker 2: I'm somewhat concerned about that one. But listen, all kudos.
- 51:50Speaker 2: More power to you. If you're going there and you're
- 51:51Speaker 2: going to spend... $ 5 a beer, that's pretty good. I just,
- 51:55Speaker 2: I don't know. Can you imagine spending $ 10 a beer?
- 51:59Speaker 2: It's not me. I mean, I'm not spending that much
- 52:01Speaker 2: to have a beer when I can walk out to
- 52:03Speaker 2: the parking lot and I brought a whole six pack
- 52:05Speaker 2: for myself and guess what? I paid a lot less
- 52:07Speaker 2: for it than $ 5, $ 10. Get you some Troy Palmolive here.
- 52:10Speaker 2: Have I ever told you that story? What? No.
- 52:13Speaker 4: So the first time we ever went to a Pittsburgh
- 52:15Speaker 4: Steelers game, it was super cold. Like, I don't even
- 52:19Speaker 4: remember what the temperature was, but it was freezing.
- 52:21Speaker 2: Yeah. And my dad had a troy palomalu jersey oh
- 52:25Speaker 2: really but he also had the troy palomalu hair oh
- 52:28Speaker 2: the wig the wig that he really he would throw
- 52:31Speaker 2: on his head that's awesome he was wearing a hoodie
- 52:35Speaker 2: yeah underneath his palomalu jersey and hiding beer behind and
- 52:39Speaker 2: we just threw probably eight beers are you kidding me
- 52:43Speaker 2: in the hood of his hoodie and it was covered
- 52:46Speaker 2: up by the hair so they never even knew They
- 52:48Speaker 2: never even tried to touch it or anything. Nope. See,
- 52:51Speaker 2: do you have to go through metal detectors today? Yeah,
- 52:53Speaker 2: but it didn't pick it up. It didn't pick it up?
- 52:56Speaker 2: Because it's aluminum. But it's still a metal. I don't know.
- 53:01Speaker 2: Maybe we didn't have to go through metal detectors. But, yeah.
- 53:05Speaker 2: That's awesome. I'll never forget that, bringing in six, eight beers,
- 53:08Speaker 2: whatever it was. What brand was it? In my dad's hoodie.
- 53:11Speaker 2: What brand was it? Knowing us, it was probably Yingling. Oh, really?
- 53:14Speaker 2: Why Yingling? Anytime we go up to Pittsburgh, that's the
- 53:17Speaker 2: beer we're drinking. Why? Because it's made there. I didn't
- 53:20Speaker 2: know that. It's a Pennsylvania thing. Yingling? I mean, it
- 53:24Speaker 2: sounds Asian. I mean, if I were to guess, it
- 53:26Speaker 2: would be Japanese. And yet it's made in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania?
- 53:31Speaker 2: Of all places?
- 53:32Speaker 3: Yep.
- 53:32Speaker 2: Yingling? Yep. Okay. There you go. That's another thing I
- 53:38Speaker 2: have learned on this show I never thought I would
- 53:40Speaker 2: be learning. I don't think it's Pittsburgh, but it is
- 53:42Speaker 2: a Pennsylvania beer. Is it really? Okay. Do the Amish
- 53:47Speaker 2: drink beer? That is a random-ass question. I know. Well,
- 53:52Speaker 2: the Amish are up there, and I'm like, well, maybe
- 53:54Speaker 2: it's an Amish beer. I don't know.
- 53:56Speaker 4: I don't see why they wouldn't drink beer. Maybe it's
- 53:58Speaker 4: against what their beliefs are, but... Maybe so.
- 54:01Speaker 2: I don't know. They don't believe in electricity. I don't
- 54:03Speaker 2: know anything about the Amish. Yeah, yeah. I don't either,
- 54:07Speaker 2: other than they cook some of the greatest food in
- 54:09Speaker 2: the world. All I know is now, they're... all of
- 54:13Speaker 2: a sudden driving vans everywhere. They're driving them or riding
- 54:17Speaker 2: in them. Uh, yeah, maybe they're not driving, but yeah,
- 54:20Speaker 2: they're riding it. They're getting rides everywhere now, which is
- 54:24Speaker 2: pretty incredible.
- 54:24Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 54:25Speaker 2: Good for them. Uh, cause they build a barn. Oh,
- 54:29Speaker 2: they build it fast. Good one.
- 54:31Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 54:31Speaker 2: That's the one thing I've always learned about. I remember
- 54:35Speaker 2: years ago of, uh, a friend of mine's barn burned
- 54:38Speaker 2: down a horse barn. Thank goodness. No horses were, uh,
- 54:41Speaker 2: hurt in it, but, She hired the Amish to come there.
- 54:45Speaker 2: They would have a guy drive a van that was
- 54:47Speaker 2: not Amish. Or were they Mennonites? They might have been
- 54:51Speaker 2: Mennonites because they were from Kentucky. Because there's more Mennonites
- 54:54Speaker 2: in Kentucky, right? You're asking me entirely too many questions
- 54:58Speaker 2: about the Amish. I think they were Mennonites. And so
- 55:01Speaker 2: they would drive here in the van. And then they
- 55:05Speaker 2: had that barn built in the wheat. I mean, it
- 55:08Speaker 2: was fast. I believe it. They're quick. They should build houses.
- 55:12Speaker 2: They should go develop neighborhoods and have those houses built
- 55:15Speaker 2: in a couple of weeks. I mean, they do. I
- 55:17Speaker 2: don't know if they build. I'm sure they build whole houses.
- 55:20Speaker 4: But, like, I know my dad, he'll, like, if they're
- 55:24Speaker 4: building a house and he doesn't want to do the
- 55:25Speaker 4: roof or whatever, he'll just hire them to come in and.
- 55:28Speaker 2: Do the roof. What's wrong doing a roof? It can
- 55:31Speaker 2: be quite scary. Oh, because of the pitch? Pitch or
- 55:34Speaker 2: height or, yeah. Is your dad scared of heights? No.
- 55:37Speaker 3: No.
- 55:38Speaker 4: No, but I mean, it also saves him a lot
- 55:41Speaker 4: of time if he just can have them come in
- 55:42Speaker 4: and do the roof and they can be doing other
- 55:45Speaker 4: things in the meantime.
- 55:46Speaker 2: All right, good. Forte Hanley texted in, thumbs up to
- 55:50Speaker 2: the Bee Gees wrote islands in the stream. I didn't
- 55:55Speaker 2: know that. Did you? I learned that this morning. Oh,
- 55:57Speaker 2: you did? Okay. Dolly produced I'll Always Love You from
- 56:01Speaker 2: her heart and soul that she didn't have Whitney Houston's
- 56:06Speaker 2: voice should take nothing away from that. No one in
- 56:09Speaker 2: the world could match Whitney's powerful voice. That's so true.
- 56:14Speaker 2: Are you that big of a fan of Whitney Houston?
- 56:18Speaker 2: I'm a massive Whitney Houston fan.
- 56:19Speaker 3: Are you? Yeah.
- 56:20Speaker 2: Back in the day, I thought she was absolutely beautiful. Oh,
- 56:22Speaker 2: she was. Yeah. One person said, another good movie that
- 56:27Speaker 2: I really had no business watching. Oh, I already read
- 56:29Speaker 2: that one. The Believe Rap. All right, so I want
- 56:32Speaker 2: to– can you pull– I texted it to you. I
- 56:34Speaker 2: got it pulled up. Oh, you do? Okay. I want–
- 56:36Speaker 2: this is something that they did during the Rich Brooks era.
- 56:39Speaker 2: Do you remember this at all?
- 56:41Speaker 3: No.
- 56:41Speaker 2: You do not? I don't. So this is– all right, well,
- 56:44Speaker 2: go ahead and play it.
- 56:48Speaker 3: What time is it game time, man?
- 56:51Speaker 2: What time is it.
- 56:52Speaker 1: Game time, man?
- 56:54Speaker 2: What time is it game.
- 56:56Speaker 3: Time, man? Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 56:59Speaker 2: Now everybody stand up on your feet. The time is here.
- 57:05Speaker 3: Either we gonna rise or we gonna fall.
- 57:07Speaker 2: Either we gonna show up or we gonna fold up.
- 57:10Speaker 2: Now I know everybody in this room got heart. And
- 57:14Speaker 2: it's gonna have to show for the doing. Isn't that good?
- 57:18Speaker 2: And I think the video is equally as good.
- 57:20Speaker 3: That's okay. Let's go to war.
- 57:27Speaker 4: A little too much repetitive for me.
- 57:31Speaker 2: Well, wait till they get to the rap yet. Here
- 57:35Speaker 2: it comes. I'm tired of losing.
- 57:38Speaker 1: I want to win.
- 57:39Speaker 2: I'm tired of being close, man. I want to finish.
- 57:42Speaker 2: Forget the naysayers and all the haters. Forget the reporters
- 57:47Speaker 2: and all the newspapers. There you go.
- 57:49Speaker 3: See?
- 57:50Speaker 2: Forget them all. It's awesome. Protect the commonwealth, because this.
- 57:54Speaker 3: Is our house.
- 57:55Speaker 2: In that Kentucky blue, hot in Jersey field.
- 57:58Speaker 3: We ain't come here.
- 57:59Speaker 2: To play you. See, I love this. I don't know how.
- 58:02Speaker 2: I guess because you're an IU fan. You look at
- 58:05Speaker 2: this and think, eh, it's fine. I mean, that's probably
- 58:07Speaker 2: how you would look at This Is Indiana. Probably so. Well,
- 58:11Speaker 2: I'd say it's dumb. So, just to let you know.
- 58:13Speaker 2: My ex-girlfriend's in that video.
- 58:15Speaker 3: What?
- 58:16Speaker 2: Yeah. Have you seen that video for This Is Indiana? Oh, no.
- 58:21Speaker 2: I thought you were going to say in the... We
- 58:23Speaker 2: believe it is Marcus McClinton, Keenan Burton. And I think
- 58:27Speaker 2: it's Raphael little and Wesley Woodyard that are all in that.
- 58:31Speaker 2: And I love it. The end where they're trying to
- 58:33Speaker 2: be real serious. And they all start breaking laughing. I
- 58:35Speaker 2: thought that was funny. So that's something UK needs to
- 58:38Speaker 2: do right there. Okay. I want UK to do something
- 58:42Speaker 2: similar to that, to get the crowd all riled up
- 58:44Speaker 2: and see, they dropped it. They, they were, they were
- 58:46Speaker 2: playing it before every game, the crowd would get into it.
- 58:48Speaker 2: And then they just stopped. It's like, that would have
- 58:50Speaker 2: been a great tradition. Just, updated every single year so
- 58:54Speaker 2: i got two texts two personal texts to the whiskey
- 58:57Speaker 2: thief text line all right one of them's from josh
- 59:00Speaker 2: who's a big time kentucky fan he says don't ever
- 59:03Speaker 2: play this garbage again oh my god and then 48
- 59:06Speaker 2: handle he said that's painful oh my god so they're
- 59:09Speaker 2: on Man. I can't believe that. Okay. I loved it personally.
- 59:15Speaker 2: I thought it was awesome. I just, I love it. So,
- 59:18Speaker 2: all right. Your girlfriend, your former girlfriend is in the
- 59:22Speaker 2: Indiana hype video.
- 59:25Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 59:25Speaker 2: From when? From what was it? 2011. Yes. I want
- 59:29Speaker 2: to say. Okay. And what hype video is this? It's
- 59:33Speaker 2: like an Indiana fight, like a song like that. Really? Yeah.
- 59:38Speaker 2: She's throwing a chair in the music video.
- 59:40Speaker 4: She's throwing a chair at you? No, so it's super iconic.
- 59:44Speaker 4: She's throwing it at the camera, but it's supposed to
- 59:46Speaker 4: replicate the Bobby Knight thing.
- 59:48Speaker 1: Yes.
- 59:48Speaker 2: Yeah. Is that the first thing people think of when
- 59:52Speaker 2: they think of Bobby Knight? Is that one thing? It's
- 59:54Speaker 2: not going to be his national titles coach of the
- 59:57Speaker 2: year going undefeated, which has never happened again. It's going
- 1:00:01Speaker 2: to be throwing a chair, isn't it? Disagree. Really?
- 1:00:04Speaker 4: If you ask 15 different people, their best memory of
- 1:00:08Speaker 4: Bobby Knight, you're likely to get 15 different answers.
- 1:00:11Speaker 2: Are you really? To me, it's throwing a chair. And
- 1:00:14Speaker 2: I think the second one is, and this is a
- 1:00:16Speaker 2: story Coach Hall loved to tell. I mean, I was getting,
- 1:00:20Speaker 2: I'll never forget today. I'm at his home and I'm getting, Coach,
- 1:00:23Speaker 2: I got to get out of you. I've been here
- 1:00:24Speaker 2: a long time. He goes, Michael, sit down. I was
- 1:00:26Speaker 2: getting ready to tell you about the coach when Bobby
- 1:00:28Speaker 2: Knight hit me on the head with a program. That
- 1:00:30Speaker 2: was the other one. Maybe it's because Coach Hall told
- 1:00:34Speaker 2: it to me. But he told it with just such pride.
- 1:00:41Speaker 2: He wasn't mad about it or anything and held a
- 1:00:43Speaker 2: grudge with Bobby Knight because he kept telling me, Michael,
- 1:00:46Speaker 2: we were close friends at one time. In fact, we
- 1:00:50Speaker 2: were very close friends. But he got mad at me
- 1:00:53Speaker 2: one day because he was talking to the referees and
- 1:00:56Speaker 2: he walked past me and Coach Hall said, yeah, I said,
- 1:01:00Speaker 2: give him hell, Bobby. And he didn't like that. And
- 1:01:04Speaker 2: he hits me on the head with a program. I
- 1:01:05Speaker 2: just loved it. But anyway, so all right. As far
- 1:01:09Speaker 2: as memories of Bobby Knight, in your mind, what is
- 1:01:13Speaker 2: the biggest one?
- 1:01:15Speaker 4: I mean, mine are all revolved around quotes that he had. Like,
- 1:01:20Speaker 4: for instance, the brain theory quote. Have you ever heard
- 1:01:23Speaker 4: that one?
- 1:01:24Speaker 2: I don't think so.
- 1:01:24Speaker 4: So the greatest motivator in the world is your ass
- 1:01:27Speaker 4: on the bench. Ass meets bench. Bench retains ass. Ass
- 1:01:30Speaker 4: transmits signals to the brain. Brain transmits signals to the body.
- 1:01:34Speaker 4: Body gets ass off bench and plays better. It's a
- 1:01:36Speaker 4: hell of a sequence.
- 1:01:37Speaker 2: Are you reading that? I love that. Yeah, I pulled
- 1:01:40Speaker 2: that up. Oh, you did pull it up. Okay. Well,
- 1:01:41Speaker 2: credit to you for reading that. So I thought you
- 1:01:44Speaker 2: had memorized it.
- 1:01:44Speaker 4: No, I mean, just a number of his quotes. Like
- 1:01:47Speaker 4: the whole, when I'm dead, they can bury me upside down.
- 1:01:50Speaker 4: My critics can kiss my ass. Just stuff like that.
- 1:01:53Speaker 4: I don't like that. I don't.
- 1:01:56Speaker 2: To me, that's negative. It's very much.
- 1:02:00Speaker 4: Kurt Cignetti, the way he is now at the football team.
- 1:02:02Speaker 2: But I don't think Kurt Cignetti.
- 1:02:04Speaker 4: He wouldn't come out and be that brash about it. No,
- 1:02:07Speaker 4: but he's very, very similar type of mind. Matter of fact,
- 1:02:10Speaker 4: is how I would consider Kurt Cignetti.
- 1:02:13Speaker 2: If there is a. a coach from the past or
- 1:02:17Speaker 2: a president that you see as one of the more,
- 1:02:20Speaker 2: probably the most uplifting coach out there that you could
- 1:02:26Speaker 2: get fired up and play for, who would it be?
- 1:02:28Speaker 2: Kenny Brooks. I love that you say that about him.
- 1:02:35Speaker 2: And you're as serious as you can be about that. Absolutely,
- 1:02:37Speaker 2: I'm as serious as I could be. Man! Good for you.
- 1:02:44Speaker 2: Now I'm blown away that you were that. I knew
- 1:02:46Speaker 2: you loved Kenny Brooks. I just didn't know it was
- 1:02:48Speaker 2: that much. Because you said it without any hesitation whatsoever. Yeah,
- 1:02:54Speaker 2: because I believe it. Yeah, okay. He's the man. I
- 1:02:57Speaker 2: can't wait to have him on because I'm going to
- 1:02:59Speaker 2: definitely tell him this story. I'm trying to think who
- 1:03:03Speaker 2: it would be for me. Probably Rick Pitino. Is he
- 1:03:07Speaker 2: uplifting though?
- 1:03:09Speaker 4: Patino strikes me as a guy who's gonna yeah he'll
- 1:03:12Speaker 4: probably lift you up eventually but he's gonna tear you
- 1:03:14Speaker 4: down first.
- 1:03:15Speaker 2: Oh absolutely but sometimes you need that tearing down in
- 1:03:18Speaker 2: real life a lot of people including myself i need
- 1:03:21Speaker 2: to be torn down and then brought back up that's
- 1:03:24Speaker 2: hard to do as a person that is even giving
- 1:03:29Speaker 2: that speech it's hard to do telling somebody the reality
- 1:03:34Speaker 2: and then trying to bring them back up from what
- 1:03:37Speaker 2: the reality is because there's so many people out there
- 1:03:40Speaker 2: that don't realize what the reality in their life is.
- 1:03:44Speaker 2: And sometimes I don't see it.
- 1:03:47Speaker 4: When I think about coaches that I'd want to play for,
- 1:03:51Speaker 4: in my past I've had coaches that were awesome and
- 1:03:55Speaker 4: treated you with respect. I've had coaches that cussed at you.
- 1:03:59Speaker 2: I don't want to be cussed at. Yeah.
- 1:04:01Speaker 4: If there's a coach and he's screaming F-bombs at me
- 1:04:05Speaker 4: and all that, that's.
- 1:04:06Speaker 2: Not a guy I want to play for. Yeah. I'm
- 1:04:08Speaker 2: right there with you. And that's Bobby Knight. That's a
- 1:04:11Speaker 2: coach I would never want to play for. Yeah, for sure.
- 1:04:14Speaker 4: I would like to play for, like, a guy like
- 1:04:16Speaker 4: Phillip Rivers who's out there, shoot, dadgummit, come on, Kalen. Like,
- 1:04:21Speaker 4: just– you can tear me down, but don't do it
- 1:04:24Speaker 4: in a– you don't have to curse at me to
- 1:04:26Speaker 4: do so.
- 1:04:27Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:04:27Speaker 2: I don't know. I– Cussing is really something that I
- 1:04:31Speaker 2: think is overrated. I've just never been a big cusser.
- 1:04:35Speaker 2: But I look at somebody like Harbaugh. I think he
- 1:04:40Speaker 2: would be somebody that's inspirational. I know you would probably
- 1:04:44Speaker 2: hate to admit that. I think the former Notre Dame
- 1:04:48Speaker 2: coach that just passed away not too far long ago.
- 1:04:52Speaker 2: Lou Holtz. Lou Holtz, exactly. I think he was extremely inspirational.
- 1:04:58Speaker 2: Jim Valvano. Yep. I think he was unbelievably inspirational. I mean,
- 1:05:04Speaker 2: he loved his players and his players loved him. I mean,
- 1:05:08Speaker 2: just go watch the 30 for 30 on him and
- 1:05:10Speaker 2: you'll see that. I mean, it's extremely apparent. But as
- 1:05:16Speaker 2: far as UK football coaches, Hal Mommy would be up there.
- 1:05:21Speaker 2: And here's the funny part. I would want to play
- 1:05:24Speaker 2: for Rich Brooks, but then again, I would not want
- 1:05:27Speaker 2: to play for Rich Brooks. Rich Brooks is intimidating. I mean,
- 1:05:33Speaker 2: he intimidates me still to this day. But I love
- 1:05:37Speaker 2: the guy. I think he would be one of those, yeah,
- 1:05:39Speaker 2: I want to play for you, but I'm scared to
- 1:05:40Speaker 2: play for you. How's that? Is that making sense? Yeah.
- 1:05:43Speaker 2: I get that. Mark Pope, I think he would be
- 1:05:45Speaker 2: a good guy to play for.
- 1:05:47Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:05:49Speaker 2: I mean, he's probably not out there slinging cuss words around. No.
- 1:05:52Speaker 2: I mean, I'm sure he does. And I bet Will
- 1:05:54Speaker 2: Stein is one of those guys, too. Not slinging it
- 1:05:57Speaker 2: all the time. Although, I don't know. I don't know. Listen,
- 1:06:01Speaker 2: we caught Mark Pope cussing, right? Wasn't it last year? Yeah.
- 1:06:05Speaker 2: That's BS.
- 1:06:06Speaker 3: Yeah. Exactly.
- 1:06:07Speaker 2: Exactly. Do you see Will Stein as a cusser? That's
- 1:06:11Speaker 2: just dropping everything. Every bomb out there he can. I
- 1:06:16Speaker 2: actually do. So do I. And I bet it is
- 1:06:20Speaker 2: appropriate as well. But it's different with football.
- 1:06:23Speaker 3: It is?
- 1:06:23Speaker 4: I feel like football coaches are much more likely to
- 1:06:27Speaker 4: curse than basketball coaches. Just because of the nature.
- 1:06:31Speaker 2: Of the game. I don't know. Patino, I look at him,
- 1:06:36Speaker 2: and I see him as a gigantic cusser. And I
- 1:06:39Speaker 2: think he's cussing as bad as a sailor does. No,
- 1:06:43Speaker 2: I think he's out there just letting it. I think
- 1:06:46Speaker 2: Danny Hurley is out there cussing like crazy in the
- 1:06:50Speaker 2: locker room. Guaranteed.
- 1:06:51Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:06:52Speaker 2: Oh, absolutely. I don't know. Who else out there is
- 1:06:55Speaker 2: a big-time cusser? I bet Nate Oates is. I bet
- 1:07:00Speaker 2: Todd Golden is. Todd Golden, for sure. Yeah, absolutely. Who's
- 1:07:05Speaker 2: not a cusser in the SEC? Probably Dorkowitz. Man, the
- 1:07:14Speaker 2: discord you have for Drinkwitz is so funny. I don't know.
- 1:07:19Speaker 2: I bet Shane Beamer's a big cusser. I bet Kirby
- 1:07:21Speaker 2: Smart is a big cusser. I bet Josh Hypo's a
- 1:07:24Speaker 2: big cusser. I don't know. Maybe it is drink with that.
- 1:07:28Speaker 2: Doesn't cause much. I'd say majority of football coaches are
- 1:07:31Speaker 2: our customers. All right. Basketball. I bet the Vanderbilt coach.
- 1:07:34Speaker 2: I can't think of his name. I bet he's not
- 1:07:36Speaker 2: much of a cusser. Uh, Mark Byington. Yes. Yes. Thank you. Uh,
- 1:07:41Speaker 2: What about Rick Barnes? Is he much of a customer?
- 1:07:44Speaker 2: No way. See, I don't think so either. I kind
- 1:07:47Speaker 2: of look at him as, you know, he's kind of
- 1:07:48Speaker 2: the deacon in your church. And he comes across in
- 1:07:52Speaker 2: a completely different, a sly way that you get the
- 1:07:55Speaker 2: point without him using any kind of bad words. I
- 1:08:00Speaker 2: bet he is. So, I don't know. That's a fun
- 1:08:03Speaker 2: conversation to me as far as I'm concerned. All right,
- 1:08:05Speaker 2: we've got to take another break. 502-384-1450. You want to
- 1:08:08Speaker 2: call 502-414-1450. You want to text me. I'll get back
- 1:08:12Speaker 2: to your text as soon as we get back. Stay
- 1:08:14Speaker 2: right there. More Jessica's coming up. I've seen it rain
- 1:08:18Speaker 2: and fire in the sky.
- 1:08:21Speaker 3: Talk to God and listen to the casual reply.
- 1:08:32Speaker 2: Rocky Mountain High Rocky Mountain High 502-414-1450, if you want
- 1:09:00Speaker 2: to text in on this last segment. One person said,
- 1:09:03Speaker 2: Comrade Mulkey just leaning into the entire LSU as heels
- 1:09:07Speaker 2: of college sports. Not the kind she wears with leather pants. Anyway,
- 1:09:13Speaker 2: are you waving at me? No, I was waving at Tony. Okay, good.
- 1:09:17Speaker 2: He was looking for a pin.
- 1:09:19Speaker 3: Okay.
- 1:09:19Speaker 2: All right. But I can wave at you. Hi. I
- 1:09:21Speaker 2: appreciate that. So PGA, let's talk about them for a
- 1:09:24Speaker 2: couple minutes. By the way, did you see this hat
- 1:09:26Speaker 2: I got during the break? Good looking hat, right? No,
- 1:09:29Speaker 2: it's not. All right. PGA. National Chomps 2025. Yeah. Good
- 1:09:39Speaker 2: for you. I mean, you should wear that. You should
- 1:09:41Speaker 2: wear it with pride. Oh, I'm wearing it with pride.
- 1:09:44Speaker 2: Where did it come from? Tony. I just walked down
- 1:09:47Speaker 2: the hall, and he was like, I got something for you. Really? Yeah.
- 1:09:49Speaker 2: For no apparent reason? No. Just gave me a hat?
- 1:09:52Speaker 2: No reason. I'd like to walk down the hallway and
- 1:09:54Speaker 2: get something for free. PGA announced yesterday, I don't know
- 1:09:57Speaker 2: if you saw this or not, starting in 2028, the
- 1:09:59Speaker 2: top 90 players on the season-long points list advance to
- 1:10:06Speaker 2: the PGA Tour Championship Series finale. Tour championship will be
- 1:10:15Speaker 2: the toughest tournament to qualify for. All right. So we're
- 1:10:20Speaker 2: trying to shake it up here. And then it will
- 1:10:24Speaker 2: be a two week match play. Do you like the
- 1:10:27Speaker 2: sound of this? I do.
- 1:10:29Speaker 4: Initially, I wasn't big on it, but then I read
- 1:10:32Speaker 4: into it a little more and they're going to do
- 1:10:34Speaker 4: the group play.
- 1:10:35Speaker 2: I'll tell you what it is. First week. is eight groups,
- 1:10:39Speaker 2: and it's going to be played at two different venues.
- 1:10:42Speaker 2: And they talked about the venues. So they've talked about
- 1:10:44Speaker 2: it's not going to be the same old course as
- 1:10:46Speaker 2: we go and schedule now. Sometimes it will be, but
- 1:10:48Speaker 2: it's going to be brand new venues. And the PGA
- 1:10:52Speaker 2: office is out looking at venues as we speak. So
- 1:10:56Speaker 2: I love this. First week is going to be eight
- 1:11:00Speaker 2: groups of four. And the top two players advance to
- 1:11:04Speaker 2: 16 players advance and then 16 players move on. All right.
- 1:11:10Speaker 2: Week two is four rounds of match play. All 16
- 1:11:14Speaker 2: players competing all four rounds. Every match impacts the final standings.
- 1:11:19Speaker 2: So I like that. The player who goes undefeated will
- 1:11:25Speaker 2: be crowned the tour winner. I like this idea. A
- 1:11:30Speaker 2: lot of people are saying they don't like the match
- 1:11:31Speaker 2: play part. What if somebody doesn't go undefeated? I think
- 1:11:36Speaker 2: you do go undefeated, though, if you keep moving forward,
- 1:11:39Speaker 2: don't you? He was saying if you go undefeated, you win.
- 1:11:42Speaker 2: I don't know. Maybe I'm wrong about that. I guess
- 1:11:47Speaker 2: in that 16, yeah, I guess you would have to
- 1:11:49Speaker 2: go undefeated. Yeah, to win it all. You're messing me up.
- 1:11:52Speaker 4: But you could theoretically, you could get to that top
- 1:11:55Speaker 4: 16 and have lost A match and group.
- 1:11:58Speaker 2: Well, whoever loses the fewest. Okay. So semantics, you're killing
- 1:12:03Speaker 2: me right now. I'm just, I've got questions. Yeah, you
- 1:12:05Speaker 2: do have questions. Do you like this idea of going
- 1:12:08Speaker 2: to match play before I go forward? Do you think
- 1:12:11Speaker 2: that's a good thing? I like that.
- 1:12:15Speaker 4: The PGA is continuously trying new things to reinvent itself. I,
- 1:12:20Speaker 4: I don't know that this was necessary at this point
- 1:12:23Speaker 4: because I do like the way that it's set up
- 1:12:25Speaker 4: now and going from, what, top 70 to 50 to 30.
- 1:12:29Speaker 4: I really like that format. But everybody loves match play.
- 1:12:33Speaker 2: Yes. Because then you are the greatest player in tournament
- 1:12:37Speaker 2: play that year because you played against the greats. And
- 1:12:40Speaker 2: if you survived that, you were the best.
- 1:12:42Speaker 4: But you could also– see, I don't necessarily believe that's
- 1:12:45Speaker 4: true because you could just have an off day and
- 1:12:48Speaker 4: the guy you're playing is– lights out that day.
- 1:12:51Speaker 2: You're right. Oh, absolutely.
- 1:12:53Speaker 4: You could get upset. And then it's like, you're, you're
- 1:12:56Speaker 4: the greatest golfer in the world, but you don't have
- 1:12:58Speaker 4: anything to show for it.
- 1:12:59Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:13:00Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:13:01Speaker 2: I liked it. Listen, I liked the fact that PJ
- 1:13:03Speaker 2: is going to try something different and I think this
- 1:13:05Speaker 2: will be fine. So, especially since it's over a two
- 1:13:08Speaker 2: week period and you're playing at two different courses, cause
- 1:13:10Speaker 2: you're right. Some players play really well at a particular
- 1:13:13Speaker 2: course and they'll like it. It suits their kind of game.
- 1:13:16Speaker 2: And then the next week, Guess what? You're playing somewhere different.
- 1:13:20Speaker 2: It might not suit your game. I think it's fun.
- 1:13:22Speaker 2: So I like the idea. I don't know if you
- 1:13:25Speaker 2: saw the whole Callaway ad. A lot of people are
- 1:13:27Speaker 2: complaining about this good, good golf and Callaway. Yeah. What's
- 1:13:30Speaker 2: going on with that? All right. So good, good. Who's
- 1:13:33Speaker 2: a big cunt. That's kind of how I feel. So
- 1:13:37Speaker 2: evidently the, the founder of good, good was making a
- 1:13:40Speaker 2: commercial about the new Callaway driver. And he sees one
- 1:13:43Speaker 2: of their content creators in good, good, trying to pull
- 1:13:47Speaker 2: out his brand new Callaway driver. And he runs and
- 1:13:51Speaker 2: shoves her to the ground. not to touch his Callaway driver.
- 1:13:54Speaker 2: Callaway didn't like it, apologized for it, and they've taken
- 1:13:58Speaker 2: the ad down. I thought it was funny. The young
- 1:14:01Speaker 2: lady that was there on the ground was smiling and
- 1:14:03Speaker 2: laughing about it. It's like, come on, man. It's just
- 1:14:06Speaker 2: a joke. Here we go. We're a soft society today.
- 1:14:12Speaker 4: I mean, I guess, but in 2026, you really can't
- 1:14:17Speaker 4: do anything of humor anymore. You shouldn't have any sort
- 1:14:20Speaker 4: of violence towards women.
- 1:14:22Speaker 2: It wasn't a violence. But, I mean, that's the way
- 1:14:24Speaker 2: people are going to view it. Yep, exactly. And that's
- 1:14:26Speaker 2: why we're a soft society today. We're just soft. We
- 1:14:32Speaker 2: complain about everything. I could make a joke about one
- 1:14:35Speaker 2: plus one equals two, and somebody out there would complain
- 1:14:39Speaker 2: about it. That's what's so sad. It's like, geez, people.
- 1:14:44Speaker 2: Patrick texted in, what has been you all's favorite Dolly
- 1:14:47Speaker 2: Parton memory? I mean, mine, after seeing it last night,
- 1:14:52Speaker 2: has to be that Johnny Carson interview. Couldn't agree with
- 1:14:54Speaker 2: you more. That would be mine, too. It's hilarious.
- 1:14:57Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:14:57Speaker 2: And the way she reacted to that. Now, that happened today.
- 1:15:00Speaker 2: Somebody will be out there, oh, we want to apologize.
- 1:15:03Speaker 2: We want him fired from his job because he did this.
- 1:15:07Speaker 2: Johnny Carson would have been fired today. It was funny.
- 1:15:12Speaker 2: One person said, now that's a good song. Let's keep
- 1:15:14Speaker 2: the good music coming, not the trash that's been playing
- 1:15:17Speaker 2: all day.
- 1:15:18Speaker 4: Wow.
- 1:15:18Speaker 2: Thanks, Illinois Texter. Wow. That was pretty hardcore. I love
- 1:15:23Speaker 2: that Notre Dame releases a statement. Did you see this?
- 1:15:26Speaker 2: That they will align with themselves with the Big Ten
- 1:15:30Speaker 2: and the SEC in prohibiting former pro athletes from returning
- 1:15:35Speaker 2: to college sports. But on the other hand, they continue
- 1:15:38Speaker 2: to not join a conference. Whatever, Notre Dame. I mean,
- 1:15:43Speaker 2: I saw that and it made me laugh. ACC and
- 1:15:47Speaker 2: Big 12 are going to do the same thing. Of
- 1:15:49Speaker 2: course they are. For what it's worth. Yeah. Uh, good for, uh,
- 1:15:53Speaker 2: the big 10 for coming out first and, uh, for
- 1:15:55Speaker 2: the sec finally agreeing with the big 10.
- 1:15:57Speaker 4: Wasn't it weird that the big 10 did come out
- 1:15:59Speaker 4: with it first because it felt like the sec was
- 1:16:02Speaker 4: all over it.
- 1:16:03Speaker 2: Yeah. I, and maybe that was intentional to, to, to
- 1:16:07Speaker 2: make the big 10 look good. I don't care. They
- 1:16:10Speaker 2: all agreeing with it and it's fine. I mean, they
- 1:16:12Speaker 2: all should just gotten together and said, okay, here's what
- 1:16:14Speaker 2: we're doing everybody. And then I think it's funny. They
- 1:16:18Speaker 2: completely left out the NCAA about this, but, uh, Anyway,
- 1:16:21Speaker 2: Washington Commanders are selling Redskins merchandise.
- 1:16:25Speaker 3: What?
- 1:16:26Speaker 2: Yeah. How do you like that? You haven't seen this? No. Yeah. Evidently,
- 1:16:33Speaker 2: it's in order to keep the trademark, which they are
- 1:16:36Speaker 2: required to do to maintain the marks in commercial usage
- 1:16:41Speaker 2: so that the marks remain under franchise control. They don't
- 1:16:48Speaker 2: want to lose the merchandise trademark of Redskins. They don't
- 1:16:54Speaker 2: want to go to anybody else. And they said they're
- 1:16:57Speaker 2: going to use it in celebration of players, for players
- 1:17:00Speaker 2: that played under Redskins jerseys.
- 1:17:03Speaker 4: That's what they're going to be doing. I still think
- 1:17:05Speaker 4: it's dumb. I mean, I like this because it's going
- 1:17:09Speaker 4: to get a lot of sales.
- 1:17:11Speaker 2: Sure. But it's still dumb that they changed the name.
- 1:17:14Speaker 2: The fact that they're no longer the Redskins, the fact
- 1:17:16Speaker 2: that Cleveland is no longer an Indian, another thing that
- 1:17:20Speaker 2: just irks me. I mean, I played Cowboys and Indians
- 1:17:24Speaker 2: as a kid. Now you can't do that. You still
- 1:17:26Speaker 2: got the Indianapolis Indians. Do you really?
- 1:17:29Speaker 3: AAA, yeah.
- 1:17:30Speaker 2: I didn't know that. I mean, you got all kinds
- 1:17:32Speaker 2: of Indians across the country. Good for them. I didn't
- 1:17:36Speaker 2: realize that. Okay. All right, then. One person texted, Notre
- 1:17:39Speaker 2: Dame needs to enter the ACC. So they can partake
- 1:17:43Speaker 2: in all that CW Gilmore Girls money. That's right. I
- 1:17:48Speaker 2: don't get that. Because they get money from the CW. Oh,
- 1:17:51Speaker 2: they do?
- 1:17:52Speaker 3: Oh.
- 1:17:52Speaker 2: Because they play all their games in the CW. Oh,
- 1:17:53Speaker 2: Gilmore Girls. Oh, now I get it. Okay. One Tree
- 1:17:56Speaker 2: Hill's on there as well. Oh, I've never heard of
- 1:17:58Speaker 2: that show. You've never heard of One Tree Hill? No,
- 1:18:01Speaker 2: I haven't. That's my go-to every time. And I've never
- 1:18:03Speaker 2: watched Gilmore Girls. I know the name Gilmore Girls, but
- 1:18:05Speaker 2: I've never watched it. What about Golden Girls? Oh, terrible show.
- 1:18:10Speaker 2: I mean, really? So there's some good games this weekend.
- 1:18:13Speaker 2: There are? No. Southern Cal hosts San Jose State. I'm
- 1:18:21Speaker 2: curious about that one. I think USC is going to
- 1:18:23Speaker 2: be a lot better. Trojans are picked to win 38
- 1:18:26Speaker 2: and a half points. That sounds about right. That sounds
- 1:18:28Speaker 2: terrible game. Good thing you'll be vacationing. Won't care. Virginia
- 1:18:32Speaker 2: is going to host North Carolina State. That's kind of cool.
- 1:18:35Speaker 2: Week zero and you were already playing in your conference.
- 1:18:38Speaker 2: I thought that was interesting. It's the first time that,
- 1:18:41Speaker 2: you know, this game was originally supposed to be in Brazil.
- 1:18:45Speaker 2: And they nixed that back in June. So North Dakota's playing.
- 1:18:50Speaker 2: their first game in FBS. Congratulations to them. They've won
- 1:18:54Speaker 2: 10 national championships since 2011 in FCS.
- 1:18:59Speaker 3: Wow.
- 1:19:00Speaker 2: They're going to host Jacksonville State, so good for them.
- 1:19:03Speaker 2: And then there's a few others, too. North Carolina TCU
- 1:19:06Speaker 2: should be fun. Florida State's a 31-and-a-half point favorite over
- 1:19:10Speaker 2: New Mexico State. It's going to be some crazy games.
- 1:19:13Speaker 2: All right. Everybody, I'm going to take a few days off.
- 1:19:16Speaker 2: I'll be back a week from tomorrow getting you ready
- 1:19:19Speaker 2: for the U.K.-Youngstown State game. I hope you understand. I
- 1:19:21Speaker 2: appreciate it. You'll be back in town a week from tomorrow.
- 1:19:23Speaker 2: You won't be back until next Friday. Oh, that's right. Oh,
- 1:19:27Speaker 2: today's Wednesday. Okay, sorry about that. Yeah, I'll be back
- 1:19:29Speaker 2: on the air a week from Friday. Yeah, yeah. Anyway,
- 1:19:32Speaker 2: but I'm looking forward to it, so I appreciate your
- 1:19:35Speaker 2: understanding of that. So I've got to take care of
- 1:19:36Speaker 2: my wife, and that's what I'm going to do. All right, Justin,
- 1:19:39Speaker 2: thank you. Of course. I'll see you all later. Have
- 1:19:41Speaker 2: a great few days. This is Michael Bennett signing off
- 1:19:45Speaker 2: for a couple of days. This is Justin Cash.
