- 0:40Speaker 4: And it continues to burn out of control.
- 0:43Speaker 1: It has been regular.
- 0:44Speaker 7: Every five to ten minutes, there has been another convoy

- 1:06Speaker 9: of the Killers soundtrack.
- 1:08Speaker 1: The live transmission has begun, and we're into the final
- 1:12Speaker 1: hour of hell.
- 1:32Speaker 10: What's up, and welcome to Movie Meltdown's Attack on the
- 1:35Speaker 10: Killers soundtrack. I'm Brian, and I'm here once again to
- 1:37Speaker 10: build you a Frankenstein-like soundtrack that is both interesting and eclectic.
- 1:42Speaker 10: And this week, I'll get a little help from our
- 1:44Speaker 10: iconic special guest. But before we get to that, this
- 1:47Speaker 10: past week, I, like most geeks out there, went to
- 1:50Speaker 10: see the new Godzilla movie. And regardless of your feelings
- 1:55Speaker 10: on it as a movie, and in fact, come back
- 1:58Speaker 10: to us in a couple weeks, we're planning a full
- 2:01Speaker 10: movie episode on the original recipe show. So give us
- 2:04Speaker 10: a couple weeks and we've got a special guest lined
- 2:07Speaker 10: up to sit in for the Godzilla discussion. But aside
- 2:11Speaker 10: from your thoughts about the movie, as I sat there
- 2:14Speaker 10: watching the credits roll at the end, I was listening
- 2:16Speaker 10: to the score and I was like, there's one word
- 2:20Speaker 10: that kept coming through. bombastic like it was so impressive
- 2:26Speaker 10: because it knew exactly what kind of movie it was
- 2:30Speaker 10: and so it built that score to fit it perfectly
- 2:34Speaker 10: so as i sat there i was like yeah i'm
- 2:36Speaker 10: gonna have to play some of this because it's it's
- 2:38Speaker 10: just so perfect for the type of film that they
- 2:41Speaker 10: made With that, I thought we would kick things off
- 2:43Speaker 10: this week with a destructive track from the new Godzilla score,
- 2:48Speaker 10: one that is called Last Shot. And I think it
- 2:51Speaker 10: very specifically showcases that bombastic style.
- 2:55Speaker 4: Last Shot.
- 3:18Speaker 11: Thank you.
- 4:47Speaker 10: And yes, I thought we would continue on on this
- 4:48Speaker 10: Godzilla train and head into one that is also from
- 4:51Speaker 10: that same film, but a different song, and one that
- 4:55Speaker 10: kind of caught me off guard, and yet I was
- 4:57Speaker 10: very pleased to hear it. It's its own little joke
- 5:00Speaker 10: if you've seen the movie. If not, I won't spoil it,
- 5:02Speaker 10: but you can enjoy the song either way.
- 5:05Speaker 3: Want to listen to the king? You look like an
- 5:08Speaker 3: Elvis fan.
- 5:13Speaker 1: You look like an angel.
- 5:15Speaker 11: You look like an angel.
- 5:17Speaker 4: Walk like an angel.
- 5:21Speaker 1: Talk like an angel.
- 5:24Speaker 11: But I got wise.
- 5:27Speaker 12: You're the devil in disguise.
- 5:30Speaker 13: Yes, you are the devil in disguise.
- 5:39Speaker 14: With your kisses you cheated and you.
- 5:43Speaker 15: Schemed heaven knows how you lied to.
- 5:47Speaker 16: Me you're not the way.
- 5:50Speaker 12: You seem you look like an angel.
- 5:54Speaker 4: Walk like an angel.
- 5:56Speaker 12: Talk like an angel.
- 5:58Speaker 11: But I got wise you're the day.
- 6:08Speaker 12: I was.
- 6:16Speaker 2: In heaven, but.
- 6:21Speaker 12: I was sure surprised.
- 6:23Speaker 15: Heaven helped me, I didn't see the devil in your eyes.
- 6:31Speaker 11: You look like an angel, look like an angel, walk
- 6:36Speaker 11: like an.
- 6:37Speaker 12: Angel, walk like an angel, talk like an.
- 6:40Speaker 17: Angel, but I got wild.
- 6:46Speaker 4: You're the devil in the sky, oh yes you are.
- 7:09Speaker 12: You're the devil in disguise.
- 7:11Speaker 11: Oh, yes, you are.
- 7:13Speaker 12: Devil in disguise.
- 7:14Speaker 18: Oh, yes, you are.
- 7:16Speaker 11: Devil in disguise.
- 7:17Speaker 14: Oh, yes, you are.
- 7:19Speaker 9: Devil in disguise.
- 7:20Speaker 1: Oh, yes, you.
- 7:24Speaker 11: Are.
- 7:24Speaker 6: Elvis Presley movies.
- 7:26Speaker 9: He was the king.
- 7:26Speaker 10: And yes, with that reference to the 98 abomination, I
- 7:30Speaker 10: thought we would continue this little run with what might
- 7:32Speaker 10: be the best thing to come out of that Roland
- 7:34Speaker 10: Emmerich mess. Well, with the exception of those awesome Taco
- 7:37Speaker 10: Bell commercials.
- 8:04Speaker 4: I wish you could swim like the dolphins, like dolphins
- 8:10Speaker 4: can swim.
- 8:11Speaker 19: No, nothing, nothing will keep us together.
- 8:15Speaker 18: We can be them.
- 8:34Speaker 4: We can make it worse Just for one day I,
- 8:37Speaker 4: I will.
- 8:38Speaker 11: Be king We'll be right back.
- 9:56Speaker 12: Shut up.
- 10:01Speaker 4: And we kissed as though nothing could fall.
- 11:23Speaker 10: Yes, that was Jacob and the Wallflowers bringing down the
- 11:25Speaker 10: horse with their cover of Bowie's Heroes. I always kind
- 11:28Speaker 10: of liked that version. It's no Bowie, but then no
- 11:31Speaker 10: one can be Bowie, but I thought it was an
- 11:33Speaker 10: interesting take on the song, and again, an odd movie
- 11:36Speaker 10: for it to turn up in, but whatever.
- 11:38Speaker 9: Tweaked Audio, your source for high-performance, noise-reducing earbuds. Available in

- 12:09Speaker 20: We was hitchhiking down a long.
- 12:13Speaker 4: And lonesome road.
- 12:17Speaker 15: All of a sudden, there shined a shiny demon on me.
- 12:23Speaker 9: In the middle of the road.
- 12:26Speaker 1: And he said.
- 12:27Speaker 7: Hey, this is KG of Tenacious D, and you're listening
- 12:29Speaker 7: to Movie Meltdown with Brian.
- 12:33Speaker 11: Oh, yeah. Fuck!
- 12:53Speaker 9: It's time for some blaxploitation appreciation. You're damn right.
- 13:01Speaker 10: So now as we continue on with this giant fighting
- 13:04Speaker 10: monster theme we've got going here, I thought we would
- 13:06Speaker 10: move into one of those, you know, as you know,
- 13:09Speaker 10: one of my favorite segments and keep that going with
- 13:12Speaker 10: a song entitled Fight Back, which is actually by Solomon
- 13:15Speaker 10: Burke from the 1972 film Cool Breeze.
- 13:44Speaker 18: Thank you.
- 14:45Speaker 12: Meet the Lord.
- 15:13Speaker 21: Sidney Lord Jones.
- 15:16Speaker 9: He's Cool Breeze. And Cool Breeze is cold business.
- 15:21Speaker 12: Three million bucks worth, maybe more.
- 15:24Speaker 9: Von Keefe's the biggest.
- 15:25Speaker 12: Diamond broker on the coast.
- 15:26Speaker 9: What's in it for me? The money we make will
- 15:29Speaker 9: be used to set up.
- 15:30Speaker 12: A black people's bank.
- 15:31Speaker 21: You'll be into legitimate business and you'll be doing something
- 15:34Speaker 21: to help Soul.
- 15:35Speaker 2: Brothers for once.
- 15:36Speaker 9: You'd have to be white not to recognize him. What
- 15:39Speaker 9: about him? He's in San Quentin.
- 15:40Speaker 1: Was, Lieutenant.
- 15:41Speaker 8: Was.
- 15:43Speaker 6: Hey.
- 15:44Speaker 17: Where you going, man?
- 15:46Speaker 19: Funny looking dick, all right.
- 15:50Speaker 3: You go tell Mr.
- 15:52Speaker 6: Finney and Sidney Lord-Jones who's here to see you.
- 15:55Speaker 9: Everything's keyed to go at midnight tomorrow. The soft spot's here,
- 15:58Speaker 9: through the old steam tunnel. Any questions? Travis, the muscle.
- 16:03Speaker 11: Roy, the boxman.
- 16:06Speaker 9: Mercer.
- 16:06Speaker 12: Cheeky baby.
- 16:08Speaker 9: The money man. Johnny, the driver.
- 16:14Speaker 21: He had a plan to hit the man right where
- 16:17Speaker 21: it hurts.
- 16:18Speaker 8: In the diamonds. Three million bucks worth of Whitey's Ice.
- 16:28Speaker 8: And baby, that's cold.
- 16:35Speaker 4: The dude with.
- 16:42Speaker 9: The diamonds is deadly.
- 16:44Speaker 6: Hold it, Mr.
- 16:45Speaker 5: Tinkerhead. Get him up.
- 16:48Speaker 9: Nervous, Travis? A little bit.
- 16:50Speaker 6: Now toss that over here.
- 16:59Speaker 9: Cool breeze. Did he do it for the people?
- 17:03Speaker 21: Or The Price, starring Thelmos Razalala as Sidney Lord-Jones with
- 17:09Speaker 21: three million bucks worth of ice. And baby, that's cold,
- 17:14Speaker 21: cool breeze from MGM.
- 17:18Speaker 22: ¶ ¶ ¶ ¶ ¶ ¶ ¶ ¶.
- 17:32Speaker 11: The wonder of you.
- 17:35Speaker 10: Wonderfest is coming up, and we will soon be in
- 17:38Speaker 10: the middle of it, I'm assuming, as we usually are,
- 17:40Speaker 10: with recording awesome episodes like we do.
- 17:44Speaker 9: So you should.
- 17:44Speaker 10: Plan to head over there now just for that reason alone,
- 17:47Speaker 10: but I thought.
- 17:48Speaker 9: We would let you guys tell people what you have
- 17:50Speaker 9: in store for.
- 17:50Speaker 12: Us this year.
- 17:51Speaker 2: Wonderfest, you know, it's technically a hobby show, a modeling show,
- 17:55Speaker 2: but a lot of our guests, in the 25 years
- 17:59Speaker 2: we've been in operation, I've seen their careers change Some
- 18:02Speaker 2: have ended and some have been modified drastically by CG
- 18:06Speaker 2: and film. So we're going to kind of talk about
- 18:09Speaker 2: a lot of that at the show as well. But
- 18:11Speaker 2: we brought back a lot of the old school folks.
- 18:13Speaker 20: I could be wrong, but I don't feel like there
- 18:16Speaker 20: are many other conventions to where it is like a
- 18:19Speaker 20: large family reunion for the modelers and come in, enter
- 18:22Speaker 20: the contest every single year for the crew that gets
- 18:24Speaker 20: together along with the guests.
- 18:25Speaker 9: Everyone interacts with one another.
- 18:27Speaker 16: There's no like, you know, idea of, you know, well,
- 18:31Speaker 16: just because I'm a guest, I'm more superior than you
- 18:33Speaker 16: or anything like that. It's just everybody seems to just
- 18:35Speaker 16: get along as one being.
- 18:39Speaker 2: Everybody has common, you know, childhood experience when it comes
- 18:42Speaker 2: to this stuff. So we grew up with the same
- 18:43Speaker 2: movies and building the same models and playing with the
- 18:45Speaker 2: same toys. And some people took it further and became
- 18:49Speaker 2: designers and affects people. And some people just maintained a,
- 18:53Speaker 2: you know, pretty.
- 18:55Speaker 12: Aggressive hobby.
- 18:56Speaker 2: A lot of these guys spent a lot of money
- 18:57Speaker 2: on the show.
- 18:58Speaker 10: But I guess if they haven't been sold yet, where
- 19:02Speaker 10: would they go on the old internets there to find
- 19:04Speaker 10: out more about it?
- 19:06Speaker 9: Wonderfest.com. There you go.
- 19:09Speaker 1: What weekend?
- 19:09Speaker 16: The May 31st and the 1st.
- 19:11Speaker 3: May 31st and the 1st.
- 19:33Speaker 9: It's time for the Killer Five.
- 19:42Speaker 10: Yes, that's right. It is time for the Killer Five.
- 19:45Speaker 10: And as I previously mentioned, it is with a special
- 19:48Speaker 10: guest and a pre-order. guest on the Original Recipe show.
- 19:52Speaker 10: I'm very proud this week to have the Killer Five
- 19:54Speaker 10: chosen by none other than the iconic punk legend, John Doe. Now,
- 19:59Speaker 10: we sat down and talked to John recently, and as
- 20:01Speaker 10: we did, he actually goes into a lot of amazing
- 20:04Speaker 10: stories and sort of history on him coming up in
- 20:07Speaker 10: the music business and and deciding to cross over into
- 20:10Speaker 10: acting and movies. So if you haven't heard that, I
- 20:14Speaker 10: definitely recommend, especially if you're a John Doe fan, to
- 20:17Speaker 10: go back and listen to episode 263 of The Original
- 20:21Speaker 10: Recipe Show, and that will give you a good sense
- 20:24Speaker 10: of sort of where he's coming from and the awesome
- 20:27Speaker 10: guy that he is. So by the time we got
- 20:29Speaker 10: to him picking some songs, he sort of already told
- 20:33Speaker 10: so many stories and shared so much that, He really
- 20:36Speaker 10: didn't go into tons of stories about these individual picks.
- 20:39Speaker 10: He just sort of, you know, ran through them. But
- 20:41Speaker 10: I don't really have a problem with that because, you
- 20:43Speaker 10: know what? If an iconic rock star wants to come
- 20:46Speaker 10: on your show and play DJ, that's fine with me.
- 20:49Speaker 3: Feel free.
- 20:50Speaker 10: Any other rock stars out there that want to come on, just,
- 20:52Speaker 10: you know, drop.
- 20:52Speaker 20: Me an email.
- 20:53Speaker 9: It'll be cool.
- 20:54Speaker 10: So we will gladly play John's Killer Five here. And
- 20:57Speaker 10: as I said, he's just going to kind of like
- 20:58Speaker 10: knock out the ones that he really likes and he
- 21:00Speaker 10: felt were really, impressive and important songs to him over
- 21:04Speaker 10: the years. So we're just going to roll through these.
- 21:06Speaker 10: This is John's Killer Five.
- 21:09Speaker 3: Anything that Ennio Morricone did.
- 21:11Speaker 9: Definitely.
- 21:12Speaker 3: Anything that Ennio Morricone did.

- 23:43Speaker 10: As for his first pick there, I thought we would
- 23:44Speaker 10: go back once upon a time in the West with
- 23:46Speaker 10: that track entitled The Grand Massacre. Again, following suit with
- 23:50Speaker 10: sort of a very violent group of songs this time around,
- 23:53Speaker 10: but oh well. So the next one maybe will get
- 23:55Speaker 10: a much more calm and less violent movie. Oh no, wait,
- 23:59Speaker 10: that's not going to happen.
- 24:00Speaker 7: Gimme Shelter in The Departed. Somewhere, I mean, that keeps
- 24:04Speaker 7: replaying in that thing.
- 24:06Speaker 22: Yeah.
- 24:14Speaker 11: Thank you. Oh, the.
- 24:51Speaker 22: Storm is friendly My very life to serve If I
- 24:58Speaker 22: don't get some shelter Yeah, I'm gonna burn even further Oh,
- 25:07Speaker 22: dear Lord It's good to shatter It's time to shine
- 25:19Speaker 22: away It's time to shine away Ooh, see the fire
- 25:25Speaker 22: is sweeping Ah Oh, God, let it ever fly away. Oh, dear,
- 25:47Speaker 22: it's just a shot away.
- 25:51Speaker 11: It's just a shot away.
- 26:30Speaker 4: Hey, my love, it's just.
- 26:32Speaker 11: A show away, it's just a show away.
- 27:18Speaker 4: It's Wednesday, and I will die.
- 27:34Speaker 11: It's just a.
- 27:35Speaker 12: Kiss away It's just a kiss away.
- 28:26Speaker 3: Elliot Smith in Good Will Hunting.
- 28:28Speaker 12: I'll fake it through the day with some help.
- 28:34Speaker 19: Johnny Walkin' Red Send the poison rain Down the drain
- 28:44Speaker 19: To put bad thoughts in.
- 28:47Speaker 4: My head.
- 28:51Speaker 5: The two tickets torn in half And a lot of
- 28:57Speaker 5: nothing to do.
- 29:01Speaker 11: Do you miss me.
- 29:04Speaker 5: Misery, like you say you do.
- 29:14Speaker 4: The man in the park.
- 29:18Speaker 12: Read the lines.
- 29:23Speaker 4: Told me I'm strong and hardly ever wrong.
- 29:28Speaker 11: I said, man, you mean you.
- 29:31Speaker 12: Had plans for both of.
- 29:34Speaker 11: Us that involved a trip.
- 29:38Speaker 12: Out of town. to a place I'd.
- 29:43Speaker 5: Seen in a magazine that you'd.
- 29:48Speaker 12: Left lying around. Good attitude Do you miss me?
- 30:01Speaker 11: Miss, miss me Like you say to me I know.
- 30:04Speaker 12: You'd rather see me gone Than to see me.
- 30:24Speaker 5: The way that I am when I am in the
- 30:30Speaker 5: life anyway. Next door, the TV's flashing blue.
- 30:41Speaker 12: Frames on the wall.
- 30:44Speaker 5: It's a comedy of errors you see.
- 30:50Speaker 12: It's about taking.
- 30:53Speaker 4: A fall To vanish.
- 30:59Speaker 5: Into oblivion It's easy to do And I try to
- 31:08Speaker 5: be But you know me I come back when you
- 31:16Speaker 5: want me.
- 31:17Speaker 12: To Do you miss me?
- 31:22Speaker 11: Miss misery like you say you do?
- 31:31Speaker 10: Yes, that was Elliot Smith's Miss Misery from the Good
- 31:34Speaker 10: Will Hunting soundtrack.
- 31:36Speaker 9: Want some music for your ears? Doo-Wop Shop makes it
- 31:38Speaker 9: easy to rent for any event, business meeting, or special occasion.

- 31:58Speaker 9: Doo-Wop Shop. We're serious about music.
- 32:03Speaker 7: Even though I don't like Simon and Garfunkel that much,
- 32:06Speaker 7: they're great. You know, what they did in The Graduate
- 32:10Speaker 7: was totally radical.
- 32:14Speaker 23: Does your group have more calories than theirs?
- 32:30Speaker 12: Do all the hippies seem to get the job on you?
- 32:35Speaker 12: Deep sleep alone's another stupid mess. But there's no need
- 32:41Speaker 12: to blame.
- 32:43Speaker 15: We'll eliminate your pain.
- 32:47Speaker 22: We can neutralize your brain.
- 32:54Speaker 12: You'll feel just fine now.
- 32:56Speaker 4: By a big, bright.

- 33:05Speaker 15: The figures of authority just chills you down. There's a
- 33:11Speaker 15: lot within the business world to drive. A huge box
- 33:16Speaker 15: just mentioned that you'd better shop around to find yourself.
- 33:22Speaker 12: A more productive bag. Are you worried and distressed? Can't
- 33:29Speaker 12: seem to.
- 33:30Speaker 1: Get no rest.
- 33:31Speaker 12: Put our product to the test.
- 33:34Speaker 11: It feels just fine.
- 33:40Speaker 1: Now.
- 33:40Speaker 12: By a big bright dream.
- 33:44Speaker 11: You better hurry up and.

- 33:51Speaker 12: In the gong Let's see.
- 33:53Speaker 22: Your wave, the blows of cruel fate Do your jets
- 34:00Speaker 22: bounce high.
- 34:02Speaker 11: On the banner of the bomb?
- 34:07Speaker 15: I'm worried cause your girlfriend's just a little late.
- 34:11Speaker 11: Are you looking.
- 34:13Speaker 15: Far away to Chuck the Dog? We can end your
- 34:19Speaker 15: day in the sky at a reasonable price.
- 34:23Speaker 12: You've seen it appetize the life.
- 34:25Speaker 11: You'll feel just fine.
- 34:28Speaker 12: If I don't be right with you. Pleasure Machine.
- 34:52Speaker 10: Yes, one of the faster and more upbeat songs off
- 34:54Speaker 10: the Graduate soundtrack. That is called The Big Bright Green
- 34:57Speaker 10: Pleasure Machine. Probably one of the lesser known tracks on
- 35:00Speaker 10: that album for most people.
- 35:01Speaker 12: This whole idea sounds pretty half-baked.
- 35:04Speaker 21: No, it's not.
- 35:05Speaker 9: It's completely fake.
- 35:06Speaker 3: And what's his name from Radiohead? Johnny Greenwood?
- 35:09Speaker 11: Oh, yeah.
- 35:10Speaker 3: And There Will Be Blood? Holy shit. I had no
- 35:15Speaker 3: idea that he was capable of that kind of orchestration.
- 35:18Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 35:19Speaker 10: It's interesting when you get these people that work in bands,
- 35:22Speaker 10: and then they hand them a score, and you hear
- 35:25Speaker 10: Free Rain, do whatever you want, and they just nail it.
- 35:28Speaker 11: It's amazing.
- 35:29Speaker 18: Yeah.
- 35:29Speaker 4: © transcript Emily Beynon Thank you.
- 36:26Speaker 12: Thank you.
- 36:28Speaker 18: © transcript Emily.
- 37:31Speaker 11: Beynon so so Thank you.
- 38:28Speaker 4: © transcript Emily Beynon © transcript Emily Beynon.
- 39:51Speaker 10: Yes, as he said, that was Johnny Greenwood from There
- 39:54Speaker 10: Will Be Blood, and the song was titled... Prospectors arrive.
- 39:58Speaker 10: So once again, I'd like to say thank you to
- 39:59Speaker 10: John Doe for providing us with The Killer Five this week.
- 40:02Speaker 10: He had some great picks and we loved having him
- 40:05Speaker 10: on the show in general. Would love to have him
- 40:06Speaker 10: come back. He's a great guest and has some interesting
- 40:10Speaker 10: stories and has a very distinct perspective into the music industry,
- 40:14Speaker 10: the film industry. So he's just really great to have on.
- 40:17Speaker 10: And I wanted to say thank you to him once again.
- 40:19Speaker 18: Thank you, sir.
- 40:20Speaker 10: May I have another? So with that, I thought we
- 40:21Speaker 10: would spiral off down another road here. And having John on,
- 40:25Speaker 10: I thought we would pay tribute to him and take
- 40:27Speaker 10: a look at something else in his career. But we
- 40:29Speaker 10: would go back quite a ways into the early days.
- 40:32Speaker 10: And as you cross over into the world of film,
- 40:35Speaker 10: you come across a very strange movie called Erg.
- 40:39Speaker 22: Erg.
- 40:40Speaker 10: Yes, that's what I said. It is called Erg, A
- 40:42Speaker 10: Music War. And it's actually a British film that was
- 40:46Speaker 10: a concert film, more or less, but it grouped together
- 40:49Speaker 10: a whole lot of sort of weird bands at the time,
- 40:52Speaker 10: and some pretty impressive ones as well. So you get
- 40:55Speaker 10: sort of this compilation of punk rock and new wave
- 40:58Speaker 10: and everything that was sort of breaking at that point
- 41:01Speaker 10: or right at the pinnacle of that pop culture moment.
- 41:04Speaker 10: So it is a really interesting look at all these
- 41:06Speaker 10: different bands. And it was filmed in 1980 and then
- 41:11Speaker 10: eventually released in 1982. And of course, among those amazing
- 41:14Speaker 10: bands on hand is X. So we will kick things
- 41:17Speaker 10: off here with Beyond and Back from X.
- 41:31Speaker 4: Now you're somewhere else I'll move to the couch and
- 41:34Speaker 4: start my.
- 42:10Speaker 12: This is no place. This is no place. You need
- 42:15Speaker 12: to control all the pain.
- 42:17Speaker 4: Never let go. Thoughts you wanted. I don't just want to.
- 42:42Speaker 4: This is no place. This is no place. You can't
- 42:49Speaker 4: take it to another level. Give me some rhythm!
- 43:58Speaker 12: I need some rhythm!
- 44:00Speaker 15: Hey, man.
- 44:01Speaker 9: What is this place?
- 44:03Speaker 12: It's the rhythm I need!
- 44:05Speaker 1: Suppose they gave a music war.
- 44:08Speaker 11: I need this!
- 44:10Speaker 1: And everybody came. And this one is full of moral fiber.
- 44:21Speaker 6: And they kept on coming It's frustrating.
- 44:51Speaker 24: Welcome to the Ritz.
- 45:11Speaker 22: Welcome to the Ritz.
- 45:20Speaker 1: Thirty-four bands that will never play the bronze. Thirty-five songs
- 45:35Speaker 1: that you'll never hear in an elevator hall. a music
- 45:58Speaker 1: war this.
- 46:00Speaker 4: Time they've gone too far a movie maybe maybe.
- 46:09Speaker 10: This time they've gone too far Yes, Erg, it's such
- 46:12Speaker 10: a fascinating grouping of bands that I thought we would
- 46:15Speaker 10: continue on this run, and we already had X sort
- 46:18Speaker 10: of representing the Los Angeles end of it, so we
- 46:20Speaker 10: will continue on with two more bands that were sort
- 46:22Speaker 10: of making the L.A. scene at the time. First up
- 46:25Speaker 10: will be Oingo Boingo with Ain't This the Life.
- 46:27Speaker 11: Oingo Boingo We're all up in the penthouse high.
- 46:56Speaker 25: Our states are in a martini stride. Folks below, they
- 47:00Speaker 25: say it ain't fair.
- 47:02Speaker 26: Hell with them, I really don't care.
- 47:04Speaker 11: Try to be more of a man. This is the life.
- 47:12Speaker 12: I'm everybody on a big jet plane.
- 47:14Speaker 11: I got so drunk that I can feel no pain.
- 47:17Speaker 11: The thing is, I'm not the worker.
- 47:19Speaker 26: You can't promise that the gold's at $ 50.
- 47:25Speaker 9: It's a toothy night, everything's all right, woman.
- 47:27Speaker 1: And a wife, oh, ain't this the life?
- 47:28Speaker 4: Oh, ain't this the life?
- 47:30Speaker 14: Oh, baby, baby, baby, ain't this the life?
- 47:34Speaker 12: Oh, ain't this the life?
- 47:37Speaker 4: Oh, baby, baby, baby, ain't this the life?
- 47:39Speaker 11: Oh, ain't this the life? The natives are better than
- 47:58Speaker 11: the lobsters.
- 48:00Speaker 26: It's a plain cone that's like a French king.
- 48:04Speaker 22: It takes a few minutes to hold it.
- 48:08Speaker 11: It's the life. They could go out on.
- 48:12Speaker 26: A
- 48:26Speaker 26: .
- 48:33Speaker 22: .
- 48:34Speaker 11: .

- 49:10Speaker 12: I have to think of.
- 49:13Speaker 4: Some life I.
- 49:24Speaker 25: Have to think of some life I have to think of.
- 49:28Speaker 22: Some life Well, come on, little mama, let's tear this
- 49:31Speaker 22: damn place up Ah, little mama, let's tear this.
- 49:34Speaker 25: Damn place up Ah, little mama, let me see you
- 49:36Speaker 25: do your stuff.
- 49:42Speaker 11: I believe.

- 49:52Speaker 26: Long, long time.
- 49:54Speaker 22: I believe a little baby gonna be gone in a long,
- 50:02Speaker 22: long time.
- 50:12Speaker 19: Come on, Lily Mama, let me show you a really
- 50:14Speaker 19: good time.
- 50:15Speaker 4: Oh, Lily Mama, take that place down.
- 50:24Speaker 11: Oh, oh, oh.
- 50:39Speaker 17: That's that, that's that.

- 52:46Speaker 4: .
- 52:56Speaker 9: .
- 53:03Speaker 4: .
- 53:12Speaker 10: Yes, that was the always intense and amazing The Cramps
- 53:16Speaker 10: with Tear It Up.
- 53:25Speaker 27: He was the wizard of a thousand kings. And I
- 53:32Speaker 27: chance to meet him one night wandering.
- 53:37Speaker 10: So as I said, we've been to the Chicago Wizard
- 53:40Speaker 10: World before, so they've got quite a few. They've got
- 53:44Speaker 10: a lot.
- 53:45Speaker 4: They're all over the country.
- 53:46Speaker 13: That's what I was going to say.
- 53:47Speaker 10: Since they're inviting us to hang around here, I thought
- 53:50Speaker 10: we would go ahead and give the rundown. That's the
- 53:53Speaker 10: difference with this one is it's not just in one city.
- 53:55Speaker 10: It's something they've done kind of everywhere now. They've sort
- 53:58Speaker 10: of taken over. So you can go to WizardWorld.com and
- 54:02Speaker 10: find out where they are in the near future. The
- 54:04Speaker 10: rundown of the upcoming ones, end of May into June.
- 54:07Speaker 3: Is Atlanta.
- 54:08Speaker 10: You've got Philadelphia after that, San Antonio, back to Chicago, Richmond.
- 54:13Speaker 10: So it's like anywhere in this general part of the country,
- 54:16Speaker 10: you know, the United States. Are you stopping at Richmond
- 54:18Speaker 10: because we've got more to go?
- 54:20Speaker 4: Oh, there's plenty.
- 54:20Speaker 3: That's what I'm saying.
- 54:21Speaker 10: Nashville, Austin, Ohio.
- 54:24Speaker 6: I thought Ohio was just generalized.
- 54:26Speaker 3: You know, that state.
- 54:27Speaker 10: But anyway, yes, you can go to wizardworld.com and find
- 54:30Speaker 10: out where the next show will.
- 54:31Speaker 22: Be near you.
- 54:31Speaker 10: You should definitely go. Come hang out. That's what we're doing.
- 54:35Speaker 10: Definitely check out wizardworld.com for all of your wizard world
- 54:39Speaker 10: type needs. So now I wanted to continue on with
- 54:46Speaker 10: a segment that I kicked off recently and get back
- 54:49Speaker 10: into those epic 80s songs. There's some amazing stuff out
- 54:54Speaker 10: there that kicked in. You know, 80s movies are sort
- 54:57Speaker 10: of amazing in their own right, but then when you
- 54:59Speaker 10: look at some of the music that gets worked into them,
- 55:02Speaker 10: and especially you get into the big action stuff and
- 55:05Speaker 10: the odd songs that get paired with these action movies, like,
- 55:10Speaker 10: I don't know, maybe Iron Eagle and Queen? Who saw
- 55:14Speaker 10: that coming? I mean, yes, they did a lot of
- 55:16Speaker 10: soundtracks at that point. They'd become very popular and were
- 55:19Speaker 10: sort of cashing in along the way.
- 55:20Speaker 9: You can blame them.
- 55:22Speaker 10: But that's still, it's such a weird mixture there. But
- 55:26Speaker 10: in a way, those two are the perfect pairing. So
- 55:29Speaker 10: now we'll play Queen's One Vision from the Iron Eagle soundtrack.
- 55:33Speaker 10: And maybe we'll do a little intro here from a
- 55:35Speaker 10: very special guest.
- 55:37Speaker 6: 80s epic.
- 55:39Speaker 1: Hi, this is Louis Gossett Jr.
- 55:40Speaker 3: This is Movie Meltdown.
- 55:43Speaker 11: Thank you.
- 56:09Speaker 4: One man, one goal.
- 56:21Speaker 14: One mission, one heart, one soul Just one solution, one flash.
- 56:38Speaker 6: Of light.
- 56:39Speaker 11: Yeah, one God, one vision, one flesh, one vote.
- 56:43Speaker 12: One true religion, one voice, one hope, one real decision.
- 56:47Speaker 11: Oh, no.
- 56:55Speaker 25: No wrong, no right I'm gonna tell you there's no
- 57:00Speaker 25: black and no white No blood, no state One world,
- 57:10Speaker 25: one vision One flesh, one bone, one true religion.
- 57:15Speaker 22: One race, one hope, one real decision.
- 57:20Speaker 11: I had a dream.
- 57:29Speaker 14: When I was young A dream of sweet illusion, a
- 57:35Speaker 14: glimpse of hope and unity, and visions of one sweet union.
- 57:42Speaker 12: And in my heart it shows, look what they've done
- 57:48Speaker 12: to my.
- 57:50Speaker 11: Dream.
- 57:58Speaker 4: One vision.
- 57:59Speaker 12: Give me your head.
- 58:01Speaker 11: Give me your heart. I'm ready.
- 58:04Speaker 25: There's only one direction.
- 58:11Speaker 4: One world.
- 58:12Speaker 11: One.
- 58:17Speaker 12: It's a celebration. Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa.
- 58:25Speaker 11: Whoa, yeah!
- 59:09Speaker 4: You just watch the hood.
- 59:11Speaker 11: That's what it's there for.
- 59:37Speaker 1: Try cutting out that music.
- 59:38Speaker 10: All right, we're rounding things out on this episode. Again,
- 59:41Speaker 10: I wanted to say thank you to John Doe for
- 59:43Speaker 10: his Killer 5 picks, so I thought with that we
- 59:45Speaker 10: would let him send you off with a song from
- 59:48Speaker 10: the Black Snake Moans soundtrack. This is The Losing Kind
- 59:52Speaker 10: from John Doe. Thank you once again for listening, and
- 59:55Speaker 10: with that I will remind you, get a life and
- 59:56Speaker 10: we'll provide the soundtrack.
- 59:58Speaker 17: I don't know that I ever knew you I don't
- 1:00:08Speaker 17: know that I ever knew you But you say you
- 1:00:19Speaker 17: can see right through.
- 1:00:21Speaker 4: Me The moon.
- 1:00:27Speaker 13: Is bright and the road is clear The moon is
- 1:00:37Speaker 13: bright and the road is clear.
- 1:00:40Speaker 4: Did you just say.
- 1:00:44Speaker 11: The end is near?
- 1:01:00Speaker 4: You said you.
- 1:01:03Speaker 13: Gave me all your kisses.
- 1:01:08Speaker 4: You said you.
- 1:01:13Speaker 13: Gave me all your kisses.
- 1:01:22Speaker 14: Now you're fed up cause you feel kissed.
- 1:01:51Speaker 4: I wish we were the losing kind I wish we
- 1:01:54Speaker 4: were the losing kind guitar.
