- 0:13Hello you guys, and welcome back to another episode of the Howgral Energy podcast.
- 0:17I'm your host, Kaylee, and this is your weekly reminder that it's
- 0:20a new day, a new week, a new mindset, and another day
- 0:23for you to become the Hawkgral Energy want to attract. Hello you guys,
- 0:27Happy Tuesday, and welcome back to the podcast. I am currently dealing with
- 0:35an injury and I'm so upset about it because it's literally something that I did
- 0:40in my sleep. I went to Spinco yesterday and felt a little sore in
- 0:45my neck, and then I went to bed last night and woke up this
- 0:48morning and I literally can't move my neck, which sucks. I freaking hate
- 0:53getting notts on my necks, specifically whenever I get injured, just from the
- 0:57way I'm sleeping, and I thought it was pillow, but I don't know
- 1:00if it's that. But yeah, I've just been like icing, heating,
- 1:06trying to massage the not trying to stretch it out all that. So it
- 1:10kind of impacts me doing workouts obviously, because I don't obviously want to push
- 1:15myself and injure myself even more so that's been a kind of a crappy way
- 1:21to start the week, but I'm trying to just focus on healing it by
- 1:25like telling my body to rest. I'm gonna wait a few more days to
- 1:29see how it goes. I mean, it's kind of typical some people wake
- 1:30up with knots in their neck, but I'm just concerned that it's gonna last
- 1:34a few days. And I just, yeah, obviously hate feeling uncomfortable,
- 1:38and especially with my job, I'm constantly on my phone, so it's using
- 1:42my neck, and yeah, I just feel like I'm overusing it right now,
- 1:46not purposely, but I just need to try and force myself to relax
- 1:52and all that. So that's how my week is starting out. But I
- 1:55hope you guys are starting off a good week. We are talking about how
- 1:59to have this sccessful week this week, which I'm very excited about because I
- 2:02feel like this is something I haven't really touched on recently. I may have
- 2:07touched on this in the past, just on tips on what you can do
- 2:10to change your lifestyle in terms of like weekly habits to really set yourself up
- 2:15for success for the week. At least my personal opinion on how to have
- 2:21a successful week like these are the things that I strive to do every single
- 2:24week to make me feel like I'm going to have a good week this week,
- 2:27I'm going to be productive. So that is what we're going to be
- 2:30touching on this week. But I have really exciting news that I've obviously talked
- 2:37about on the podcast before. It's just a little bit of a personal update.
- 2:40If you guys know my best friend, she got married back in July
- 2:45and I was re made of honor, and I've talked about, you know
- 2:49her a lot on the podcast, and she actually was pregnant on her wedding
- 2:53day. And she was I think only eight weeks pregnant, so I knew
- 2:58about it. She let me know like really really early, so obviously I
- 3:01couldn't tell anyone. And then when she announced she was pregnant, obviously I
- 3:05was like, oh my god, my best friend's pregnant, So exciting.
- 3:07And her due date was in February, and the last month she's been going
- 3:13through some complications with her pregnancy. The baby was actually pushing against her liver
- 3:17and kidneys, so they were concerned that it was going to impact Lissa.
- 3:23So they actually had to induce her this weekend, meaning she was giving birth
- 3:29this weekend, so she texted me on Thursday. Actually, sorry, I
- 3:32texted her on Thursday because I was like, okay, you know what,
- 3:36like she's getting close to her due day. I'm going to start checking up
- 3:38on her every week, just for the next few weeks until you know the
- 3:42baby is due. Because her husband is a firefighter as well, so he
- 3:46works twenty four hour shifts, so sometimes when she's home alone, I'm just
- 3:49like, okay, you know, I just want to text make sure you're
- 3:52good. And I texted her on Thursday and she was like, uh,
- 3:54yeah, actually I might be having the baby this weekend. I was like
- 3:58what, She's like, yeah, yeah, you know, the baby's you
- 4:01know, kind of impacting my body personally, like they may have to induce
- 4:06me. So they ended up inducing her and she had a beautiful baby boy.
- 4:11His name is Hayden. She had him on January fourteenth, so that
- 4:15was Sunday morning, and he is absolutely perfect. He's healthy. She is
- 4:21healthy. That is all that's important. And oh my goodness, I have
- 4:26not met him yet, but I am meeting him tonight and I am so
- 4:30freaking excited to meet him and just being able to see my best friend become
- 4:35a mom is so exciting and I just can't believe that. Yeah, my
- 4:41best friends have a little human and another bestie to include into our friend group.
- 4:46All the girls are aunties now, and I'm just so excited to yeah,
- 4:50have girls' nights and have the baby with us, and yeah, it's
- 4:54so exciting. So her baby, Hayden, he's actually going to be part
- 4:58of our wedding because my best friend, she's my maid of honor and I
- 5:01obviously want her to be there for my wedding. And because the baby's going
- 5:05to be so young, I think he's only like, he's only going to
- 5:09be eight months around that. Yeah, he'll be eight months actually because he
- 5:13was just born, So he'll be around eight months when we have our wedding.
- 5:16From stories I've heard, sometimes traveling with a newborn can be a lot.
- 5:20So her and her husband are only coming for a week and they're strictly
- 5:24just coming for the wedding week, which is great. So yeah, I'm
- 5:28an aunt and I can't wait to meet him. So I just thought I
- 5:30would announce that because obviously I'm very excited about it. I'm over the moon
- 5:34about it. Just being able to see my best friend become a mom is
- 5:40so exciting. And she's actually the first person with my friend group to become
- 5:44his mom as well, so I feel like it's such a big deal.
- 5:46She's like the older sister that I never had. She truly is so mature.
- 5:50I'm actually older than her, which is kind of funny. I'm actually
- 5:53older than her by a month, but she's always been more mature than me.
- 5:57I've always looked up to her, So it's yeah, yeah, so
- 6:00cute that I get to look up to her and get her advice on everything
- 6:03when it comes to pregnancy and babies and all that whenever I do have my
- 6:06time, which will be hopefully within the next few years. But yeah,
- 6:13I'm very, very excited for her. Okay, so now that that good
- 6:15news is out of the way, let's talk about how we're going to have
- 6:17a successful week. So let's pretend it's Sunday. We are doing a complete
- 6:23reset. We're tiding up our home. We're prepping for the week, whether
- 6:27it's you know, meal prepping or just prepping things that you need done for
- 6:30the week. This is what you're going to do on your Sundays in order
- 6:32to prep for your week. So we're first off, going to plan out
- 6:38our entire week on the Sunday. The reason why I say Sunday is because
- 6:43I feel like when you wake up on the Monday morning, whether you work
- 6:46in an office or you go to school or any kind of job that you
- 6:48have starting your Monday off, it's always busy. It's always chaotic. It's
- 6:51your first day back at work since the weekend. You know, you have
- 6:55a bunch of emails that you have to follow up on, or you have
- 6:57a bunch of work that you need to get done. So let's be honest,
- 7:00you don't really have the time to plan out things that you need for
- 7:03the week on the Monday. Monday is just two chaotic. So this is
- 7:06what you're gonna do on Sunday night. You're gonna take out a planner or
- 7:10you're gonna take out an iPad with notes or anything like that, and you're
- 7:13gonna write down Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday,
- 7:17and Sunday, and under each of those things, you're gonna write down everything
- 7:20that you need to get done for each day. So for an example for
- 7:24me, for my job, I personally structure out my content based off of
- 7:28that, So I'm like, Okay, on Monday, I'm gonna film a
- 7:30weekly reset, I'm gonna go to a workout class, gonna get some groceries,
- 7:33gonna do some food prep. I'm gonna film all that and edit all
- 7:35that, okay, And then on Tuesday I have to do my podcast.
- 7:39So I got to edit my podcast, post my podcast, edit my YouTube
- 7:42video, and then on Wednesday, I need to post my YouTube video.
- 7:45Like the list goes on, so I personally love to do that before I
- 7:48start my week. That way, I know, okay, these are the
- 7:51things that I need to prioritize this week. This is everything that I need
- 7:54to get done, and it's visually there and it's already input in my brain.
- 7:59That way, when I wake up Monday morning, I know what I
- 8:01need to get done. And then Monday night I can look back on my
- 8:03notes or look back at my planner and see, okay, for tomorrow,
- 8:07I have the podcast that I need to edit and post and my YouTube video.
- 8:11Okay, got it. Then I wake up Tuesday morning, I know
- 8:13what I'm doing. So being able to reflect back on your notes and have
- 8:16everything done on that Sunday night is so essential planning out your days will also
- 8:22alleviate any stress that you might have. Finding ways to de stress yourself is
- 8:26so important, and I personally find planning everything out and having everything in one
- 8:31place will allow you to be so much less stress. I am a very
- 8:35stressed person. I have to be honest, like I get stressed about so
- 8:37many things. But planning out my days truly has changed my life when it
- 8:41comes to my stress levels and all that. I just find having everything done
- 8:46in a one place and like essentially prepped the night before in terms of everything
- 8:50that I've planned, just really helps me have a successful Monday and a successful
- 8:54week because I'm able to have everything done on that Sunday night. If you're
- 8:58the kind of person that likes to do meal prepping, this is also a
- 9:01really good time to do it. Whether it's Sunday afternoon or Sunday night,
- 9:03if you like to prep your protein, if you want to cook some chicken,
- 9:07or if you want to make overnight out so maybe something for breakfast.
- 9:11Doing it all on the Sunday and having it all done is the perfect way
- 9:15to start the week. Another way to have a successful week is starting early.
- 9:18I know not everybody loves early mornings. But I truly, truly believe
- 9:24that starting your morning off on the early side has truly been the biggest game
- 9:30changer for me. I love waking up at six am and being able to
- 9:33have my workout done by eight am. I have the whole day to do
- 9:37whatever I need to do for work. Everything is all set up for success.
- 9:43So as soon as I'm done my workout at seven point fifty and I'm
- 9:46home by eight am and i have my breakfast, i do my morning rituals,
- 9:48and I'm at my laptop by like nine point thirty, that is my
- 9:52perfect way to start my day is doing all that, waking up early,
- 9:56getting a workout done, doing all my morning rituals, and being in my
- 9:58laptop like that, to me is the perfect way to have a success will
- 10:03start to my day. And then I have that in my mindset where I'm
- 10:05like, Okay, I'm ready to conquer this day. I'm ready to get
- 10:09shipped done, and I'm just feeling so much more prepped and ready to take
- 10:13on the day. So trust me, even if it's just waking up twenty
- 10:16minutes earlier, thirty minutes earlier, like push yourself out of your comfort zone,
- 10:20and allow yourself to wake up early, because I'm telling you right now,
- 10:24you will be obsessed with waking up early. I also feel like whenever
- 10:28I do wake up early, I want to be productive, Like I feel
- 10:31more productive. I want to take on everything I can in the day.
- 10:35Obviously, I know I can't take on everything during one day, but I
- 10:39just have this motivation that is very undescribable that makes me want to just yeah,
- 10:45take on the day and just focus on everything that I need to get
- 10:48done to the day. So, if you're the kind of person that lacks
- 10:52motivation, try and wake up early. Try and plan out your days on
- 10:56Sunday. As I said, that way you know what you're getting into on
- 10:58the Monday morning. And I really feel like that's a good way to set
- 11:03yourself up for success. Okay, so we've planned out our day, we're
- 11:05waking up early. Another thing that I find is really really beneficial that could
- 11:09also be done on Sunday or on Monday. Whatever works for you, is
- 11:13just a brain dump. So, like I said, whether it's in your
- 11:16notes or on a piece of paper, write down a list of activities or
- 11:20events or appointments that you need to accomplish. For the week. So knowing
- 11:24what appointments you have during the week, I think is obviously essential. Also
- 11:30activities. I think this is a really key point because I feel like some
- 11:33people are always like, how do you make your life exciting? Like,
- 11:37how can I, you know, look forward to something each week? And
- 11:41I think it's important to make exciting plans. Plan things with your girlfriends.
- 11:46Okay, Wednesday night, let's have a little wine night, Let's you know,
- 11:50watch a movie together, Let's start a book club, like, figure
- 11:52out something that you can do with your girlfriends, going out for drinks.
- 11:56Just find something that you could look forward to to do with your friends or
- 12:00with your partner. It makes you excited for the week. So doing a
- 12:03brain dump, brainstorm ideas as to what you could do this week that can
- 12:07make you look forward to the week. It could also just be something that
- 12:09you want to do for yourself. Maybe you want to plan a solo date
- 12:13day where you go to a coffee shop, you get some work done,
- 12:16maybe you book a facial, Maybe you go just on a long walk in
- 12:20a certain area of your town that you love to walk in, Like for
- 12:24me, I love to go downtown and walk in like the Westboro areas like
- 12:28this really nice area that is just very like homey and yeah, I don't
- 12:33know. So being able to set time other for yourself or mingling and socializing
- 12:39with your friends, that is something to look forward to. That is something
- 12:41to get you excited to take on the day when it comes to being productive
- 12:46and staying focused on your work. I think one thing that truly has helped
- 12:50me is putting my phone on do not to serve. I obviously get a
- 12:54lot of notifications, and I'm sure you guys get a lot of text from
- 12:58your friends or your family or your partner. Maybe a lot of phone calls.
- 13:01I don't know about you, guys, but I feel like my mom
- 13:03and my sister always FaceTime me, which I love, but sometimes I'm like,
- 13:07hey, I actually need to get work done, Like I can't be
- 13:09facetiming for, you know, thirty minutes with my sister, Like I don't
- 13:13have the time to do that. I have to get work done. So
- 13:16I find putting your phone on do not disturb when you are really focused on
- 13:20getting a task done for the day that you need done for the day.
- 13:22It allows you to stay away from the phone not feel the urge to look
- 13:28at your phone or look at the notifications. It allows you to just focus
- 13:31on what you need to get done. So what I love about this is
- 13:35that you could also create focus modes. So one thing that I've done is
- 13:39that I can select apps to turn off notifications. So if I don't want
- 13:41to see notifications from Instagram and TikTok, I can completely turn that off.
- 13:46That way, I don't feel the urge to look at my phone to see,
- 13:50Okay, what are people commenting? What are people you know liking on
- 13:54my social media posts? Like in that moment, if I really need to
- 13:58get shit done, like it doesn't matter what the notifications are saying. Or
- 14:01if you know people want to text me, if you want to maybe keep
- 14:05just your mom, your sister, and you know Zach for an example,
- 14:09if I want to just keep their notifications on that way, you know,
- 14:11if they text me, I can see that, but anything else I can't
- 14:16see. So that is something that I recently learned this month, is just
- 14:18being able to only allow certain apps to go off and then everything else is
- 14:24on do not disturb, or you can fully just put your phone on do
- 14:28not Disturb completely and not get anything and just allow yourself to completely focus on
- 14:31what you're doing. So that is something that I truly think is a game
- 14:35changer. So if you've never used the do not Disturb option on your phone,
- 14:39try it out. I do find it helps a lot, especially for
- 14:41someone like me who I always gravitate towards my phone. I'm always checking it,
- 14:46I'm always looking at it. If there's times where it's like, Okay,
- 14:48Kelly, you need to spend an hour and actually focus on editing something,
- 14:52you need to put your phone aside and just focus on editing it because
- 14:56you know it's due today, you need to submit it whatever. Or if
- 14:58I need to go through my email answer all my emails again, let's put
- 15:01the phone aside, put it on doing a disturb and as I said,
- 15:03it just allows you not to feel the urge to look at your phone.
- 15:07Another thing that I'm currently still trying to work on because these are things that
- 15:11I wouldn't say I'm perfect at, and I feel like nobody's perfect at at
- 15:15the end of the day. Everybody has things that they can improve on,
- 15:18and this is something that I, yeah, needs to be better at.
- 15:20And this is spacing things out when you're cramming too much in one week.
- 15:26You're just going to overwhelm yourself. And I am a victim to this.
- 15:31I don't have a good concept of time when it comes to certain tasks,
- 15:35Like I think, Okay, this is only going to take me an hour,
- 15:37but the reality is it's going to take me at least two hours.
- 15:39So I need to limit the multitasking and really focus on how long each task
- 15:45takes and really space it out, Like, Okay, Kelly, realistically,
- 15:48you're not going to film for tiktoks in one day, Like, let's try
- 15:52one each day and then once you can figure out, Okay, this is
- 15:56how long it typically takes me to film this kind of content, Okay,
- 16:00maybe I can add a second one next week. I really need to have
- 16:02a better concept of time when it comes to how long things take, and
- 16:06I need to space it out more effectively. It also just helps you learn
- 16:10to focus on one thing at a time, because obviously there's some tasks that
- 16:15are very time consuming, and being able to focus on one thing, I
- 16:18feel like is super effective. I feel like if you're cramming too much,
- 16:22it might not be as good quality as you want it to be, Like
- 16:26quality over quantity. I feel like, that's my opinion, and personally for
- 16:30me, I do find it's a bit harder to focus when I'm trying to
- 16:33multitask too many things. I think for me, what works for me is
- 16:36focusing on one thing each day. And for me, like, there's a
- 16:38lot going on, right, So you got the podcast, you got the
- 16:41YouTube, you got the tiktoks, you got the Instagram, Like, I
- 16:45need to plant out my days on Sundays. That way I know everything that
- 16:48I have to get done for the week. So yeah, just kind of
- 16:51goes back to spacing things out properly, and it goes back to the point
- 16:53that I said about planning your schedule out on Sundays. This is kind of
- 17:00another point when it comes to scheduling, is just making sure you're prioritizing your
- 17:04task. So make it very visible on your schedule of things that are a
- 17:10priority each day. So if you had to put one thing on each day
- 17:14that's the biggest priority, highlight it, underline it, make sure it's visibly
- 17:18noticeable to you that this is the biggest task of the day that you actually
- 17:22need to complete, Like, okay, these are the deadlines that you need
- 17:26to submit. This type of stuff okay, do your priority this day is
- 17:29to get this done as soon as you wake up, submit it, and
- 17:32then move on to the next task. You need to be able to know
- 17:34what's the most important thing that you have to get done for that day before
- 17:38you take on the other stuff. So that is something I also could work
- 17:41on. I feel like I'm like, oh, like, maybe I'll work
- 17:45on this this morning. But the reality is is that this is a bigger
- 17:47priority to take on versus the other task. So I need to be better
- 17:51at making sure that the tasks that are actually a priority is the first thing
- 17:55that I get done in the morning, versus doing something that's a complete opposite,
- 17:57which is a task that isn't the big priority. This is a new
- 18:00one that I feel like I've never talked about, and this is something that
- 18:03I'm currently in the works of doing, which is my office, but is
- 18:07optimizing your work, creating a workspace for you that allows you to focus and
- 18:11allows you to have a space where you can get everything done. I currently
- 18:15have my workspace in my kitchen, like I work strictly in the kitchen area.
- 18:21I set up my laptop, I record my podcast here. It's just
- 18:23the area that I feel most comfortable getting my work done. I find sitting
- 18:27on my couch, for an example, is not the best place, or
- 18:30sitting on my bed. I feel like I'm not very productive when I'm sitting
- 18:33in something that's a little too comfortable. But I feel like once I have
- 18:37my office, it's going to allow me to really have that space that I'm
- 18:41going to feel the most effective in. So maybe find a space in your
- 18:44home or in your bedroom that is your work place where you're able to get
- 18:48shit done and be able to focus on everything that you need to get done
- 18:52for the day. As I said, I feel like working on your bed
- 18:55may work for some people, but for me, I feel like I'm not
- 18:57as effective when I'm sitting too comfortably in something. I need to be sitting
- 19:03up straight. I need to be having my laptop in a place where I
- 19:04can easily type, I can easily see everything, you know what I mean?
- 19:08Like, I just feel like you can't. You can't be too cozy.
- 19:11You want to be able to be comfortable and where you're at, But
- 19:15making sure you know that this is your designated work area and being able to
- 19:19optimize your work in this space is so important. I love this next one.
- 19:25It's taking breaks. I feel like we don't do this enough where we
- 19:30need to just put aside whatever we're focused on and step outside for like thirty
- 19:34minutes, go on a walk, put on a podcast, come back,
- 19:37and you will see how much better you actually feel when you come back.
- 19:41You need that mental break. By leaving your home or going outside, like
- 19:45doing something that allows you to stay away from the task that you're focused on,
- 19:49you will come back actually feeling more energized, more productive, and more
- 19:53motivated to get the task done. It is truly the biggest game changer.
- 19:57Sometimes when I'm focusing on editing the podcast and I'm like, this is too
- 20:00much like you know what I mean, Like this my brain is almost just
- 20:04like been staring at a screen for too long and for too many hours,
- 20:10and I'm like, I need to go take thirty minutes, walk outside with
- 20:12the dog, put on a podcast, and come back. And then I'm
- 20:15like, okay, let's get this done. And I'm actually way more effective
- 20:18because I've had that mental break. I've stepped away from my computer, I've
- 20:22stopped looking at the screen, I've taken a walk, and yeah, I
- 20:25don't know, I just feel like I'm so much more effective whenever I come
- 20:27back to doing my work. You need to just do those like little rewards
- 20:32to yourself by taking a break, right, So, okay, you just
- 20:33worked for two hours, go take thirty minutes to yourself to actually just get
- 20:37outside, remove yourself from a screen, anything like that. So yeah,
- 20:41remember to take those breaks because you will feel so much more effective coming back
- 20:45to your workstation and actually be so much more productive. Another thing you can
- 20:49do each week is making smaller goals. Of course, we always have goals
- 20:55going into the new year with our vision boards and all that, but those
- 20:57are goals for the year. Do you think it's important to set goals on
- 21:00a weekly basis? And these goals could be things that you hope to achieve
- 21:04for the week, like what is my biggest priority this week that I need
- 21:07to get done? Okay, this is the biggest goal for this week,
- 21:10and then write down little goals in order to achieve that big goal. Writing
- 21:14down weekly goals is a good way to motivate yourself and it's essentially just a
- 21:17great way to finish everything that you need to get done for the week.
- 21:21So yeah, it's important to always just set weekly goals for yourself. And
- 21:23then lastly is making sure you're scheduling downtime for the week. What is the
- 21:30cutoff time for you to just have time with yourself or with your partner.
- 21:34If you work a nine to five and you don't shut your computer off at
- 21:37five pm, you need to change that. You need to allow yourself to
- 21:41have that downtime, have that rest, be able to relax and recharge yourself
- 21:47for the next day, because if you're over working yourself and over pushing yourself
- 21:51to work you know late nights or anything like that, you're going to feel
- 21:56that energy the next day. There's going to be no energy at all.
- 21:59To be honest, You're going to feel exhausted. You're not going to feel
- 22:00prep to take on the next workday. You really need to be able to
- 22:04lock yourself out when the time is done. If your time is okay,
- 22:08I'm done at five pm every single day, you need to shut your laptop
- 22:11and you need to find ways to relax yourself at night that truly makes you
- 22:15feel relaxed, rested, and recharged to take on the next day. Personally,
- 22:18for me, I love to either you know, take a hot bath
- 22:22or take a hot shower, do a face mask. Like those just ideas
- 22:26that I do at night to just like really reset and recharge. Some people
- 22:30like to take you know, thirty minutes to yourself to read a book.
- 22:33There's so many ways that you can just truly make yourself feel the most relaxed.
- 22:37Another thing I like to do is for the last hour of the night,
- 22:40Zach and I like to watch our favorite TV show together, have no
- 22:42phones out. We completely put the phones away, and yeah, it's just
- 22:45like the perfect way to end a night. So those are some things that
- 22:49I recommend for setting yourself up for a successful week. These are just weekly
- 22:53habits that I strive to do, whether it's things that I want to do
- 22:57on the Sunday in order to prep for the week, or just things that
- 23:00I'm trying to do every single day in order to maintain my motivation, to
- 23:04maintain productivity all that. So I hope some of these tips help you guys
- 23:08if you guys struggle to really just have a good week essentially. And don't
- 23:14get me wrong, there are some of these things that I don't do every
- 23:17single time, and I know that I'm not going to have a successful week
- 23:19because I didn't do these things. So really, trying to set yourself up
- 23:23for success, I think is really important. And we all want to have
- 23:26a good week. We all want to be productive, we all want to
- 23:29be motivated. So I hope this helps you guys out and yeah, so
- 23:33I hope we all have successful weeks all throughout twenty twenty four by doing these
- 23:37small little habits. So thank you so much for listening to another episode.
