- 1:20Speaker 1: listening to. I had a new podcast I was super
- 1:24Speaker 1: excited about, and a new book that I just finished
- 1:27Speaker 1: and that I put in the unput downable category, So
- 1:31Speaker 1: give that episode a listen. You can find it at
- 1:33Speaker 1: patreon dot com, slash Megan and Wendy, and it is
- 1:37Speaker 1: linked in our show notes. Let's talk Home Turf with
- 1:41Speaker 1: a synopsis. Cassidy is the president of a small college
- 1:46Speaker 1: whose life is thrown for loop when freshmen on the
- 1:49Speaker 1: football team move into her home. Can Logan, the handsome coach,
- 1:53Speaker 1: helps smooth things over. Home Turf is directed by a
- 1:56Speaker 1: homemark favorite, McLean Nelson, marking his eighteenth time I'm in
- 2:00Speaker 1: the director's chair and he's not done yet. Nelson is
- 2:02Speaker 1: also calling the shots on next week's premiere, Haul Out
- 2:06Speaker 1: the Halloween. Are you excited for that movie? So excited?
- 2:10Speaker 1: Are you? Yeah? I love the Hallo Out the movies,
- 2:13Speaker 1: and I know you do, But you don't love Halloween.
- 2:16Speaker 1: So no, But I'm okay with observing Halloween. It's not
- 2:22Speaker 1: gonna be scary Halloween. No. I know, I don't like
- 2:26Speaker 1: putting on a costume. Okay, Well I would be concerned
- 2:31Speaker 1: if you were putting on a costume and watching this movie,
- 2:33Speaker 1: as you should be. Okay. This script for Home Turf
- 2:37Speaker 1: comes from longtime writing duo Greg Rawson and Brian Sawyer.
- 2:42Speaker 1: Hallmark fans will recognize their names from favorites like Three Bid,
- 2:45Speaker 1: two Bath, One Ghost, The Santa Steak Out, The Perfect Catch,
- 2:50Speaker 1: and dozens more. Nikki Deloche plays Cassidy. This movie marks
- 2:54Speaker 1: Nikki's seventy sixth acting credit. She will start in the
- 2:57Speaker 1: upcoming A Grandual Opry Christmas, as well as two more
- 3:01Speaker 1: True Justice mysteries likely to premiere in twenty twenty six.
- 3:06Speaker 1: Warren Christie plays Coach Logan. Warren has seventy acting credits
- 3:10Speaker 1: and last appeared on Hallmark opposite Nikki in last year's
- 3:14Speaker 1: Our Holiday Story. Warren will start in the upcoming A
- 3:19Speaker 1: Royal Montana Christmas, which kicks off the twenty twenty five
- 3:23Speaker 1: Countdown to Christmas season. Also noteworthy, Warren will play John
- 3:28Speaker 1: Edwards in the forthcoming reboot of Little House on the
- 3:32Speaker 1: Prairie coming soon to Netflix. Did you know anything about
- 3:35Speaker 1: this series? Nothing? Me neither until I was like digging in.
- 3:38Speaker 1: I was like, I might be interested in watching that.
- 3:42Speaker 1: Were you an original Little House on the Prairie watcher?
- 3:45Speaker 1: I did? I did enjoy it, yes, I mean I
- 3:48Speaker 1: couldn't tell you anything about it now. I just remember
- 3:51Speaker 1: watching it kind of like in reruns. I think, sure, yes,
- 3:56Speaker 1: I just remember like when sister Mary went blind. I
- 3:59Speaker 1: remember I remember that, and I think, like the mom
- 4:03Speaker 1: got attacked one time. I think, oh that I don't know. Yeah,
- 4:07Speaker 1: I liked a little house in the prairie. I mean,
- 4:09Speaker 1: I'm definitely watch a reboot at Me too. Timothy Thrillthhall
- 4:14Speaker 1: plays Donor Leo Farnsworth. According to IMDb, this is his
- 4:18Speaker 1: one and only acting credit. Are you surprised by that? Yes?
- 4:23Speaker 1: Did too? He looked familiar. I thought so too. And
- 4:27Speaker 1: then I'm putting the notes together, I was like, wait,
- 4:30Speaker 1: he has nothing. There's not one thing this is.
- 4:33Speaker 2: This is it?
- 4:34Speaker 1: That's bizarre. They mass they must have miscredited him. Don't
- 4:38Speaker 1: you think something is not right? Well, this is him.
- 4:42Speaker 1: I'm gonna hold I'm gonna text you tell me if
- 4:44Speaker 1: you think this is him. This person that I'm looking
- 4:46Speaker 1: at with the same name. He is a professor at
- 4:49Speaker 1: BYU and he was the artistic director of the Seattle
- 4:52Speaker 1: Civic Light Opera before coming to BYU. So I wonder
- 4:56Speaker 1: was he somehow partnering with I see what you're putting down.
- 5:01Speaker 1: That's interesting. Yes, I absolutely think this is him. Yeah,
- 5:05Speaker 1: he's a BYU. Professor. That is bizarre, Yes, very interesting,
- 5:11Speaker 1: huh he but he teaches that BYU. He teaches Yeah,
- 5:16Speaker 1: in the theater and Media arts department. I don't know.
- 5:20Speaker 1: I don't know how the connection was made, but you
- 5:22Speaker 1: can see that there is a connection. Yeah, for sure.
- 5:26Speaker 1: Hurry interesting, very very interesting. Jess del Vizzo plays Zoeess
- 5:32Speaker 1: has just ten acting credits, but did appear in both
- 5:35Speaker 1: sister swap movies back in twenty twenty one. Leith Wallschluger
- 5:39Speaker 1: plays Teddy fun Fact, this isn't his first football movie.
- 5:42Speaker 1: He appeared as Rob Gronkowski in three episodes of a
- 5:44Speaker 1: series called American Sports Story. Lewis Boki plays Nick. He
- 5:49Speaker 1: has fifteen acting credits and ten wa upcoming projects. This
- 5:53Speaker 1: was his first time on Hallmark. Holme Turf was filmed
- 5:56Speaker 1: in Utah during the first part of twenty twenty five.
- 5:59Speaker 1: I add here for a second, there were a lot
- 6:02Speaker 1: of people in this cast. Oh yeah, I did include everybody.
- 6:07Speaker 1: I just kind of included the ones who had like
- 6:09Speaker 1: bigger roles, sure other ones. So we're gonna take a
- 6:12Speaker 1: quick break and come right back with our first impressions. Hey, Wendy,
- 6:23Speaker 1: what was your first impression of Home Turf. Well, did
- 6:26Speaker 1: Oat Milk sponsor this movie? Because if not, somebody at
- 6:30Speaker 1: Hallmark missed a great opportunity. They were using that Kirkland
- 6:34Speaker 1: branded Oat Milk in this movie. I didn't notice that
- 6:39Speaker 1: they blocked out the Kirkland logo, but I'd recognize it anywhere.
- 6:44Speaker 1: I'd recognize comes in a box of six. Oh my god,
- 6:49Speaker 1: I'm an oat Milk girl, but that's not my preferred brand.
- 6:52Speaker 1: The only reason I like it is it becomes as mentioned,
- 6:54Speaker 1: comes in a box of six, and they are shelf stable,
- 6:57Speaker 1: so you can stuck up and not need refrigerator space.
- 7:00Speaker 1: Got it? Well, again, missed opportunity. My first impression is
- 7:05Speaker 1: who needs touchdowns? When Nicky's wardrobe is a ten out
- 7:07Speaker 1: of ten, I have some thought, Okay, we'll get to it. Okay,
- 7:16Speaker 1: it didn't. It didn't actually make my official notes, but
- 7:19Speaker 1: since you brought it up, I'm just there was this.
- 7:22Speaker 1: I agree with you. I thought all her outfits are great.
- 7:25Speaker 1: There was one shoe that I thought was like a
- 7:27Speaker 1: misstep intended there. I just was like, what, I don't
- 7:30Speaker 1: like that shoe? And now I've seen it like several
- 7:33Speaker 1: times throughout the movie. It was like a cream colored
- 7:36Speaker 1: like I don't know, I just I didn't like it. Okay,
- 7:40Speaker 1: I have more to say about her wardrobe in a minute,
- 7:43Speaker 1: but let's talk about all you legs for me. Look.
- 7:47Speaker 1: I like the premise. I like when Hallmark takes a
- 7:51Speaker 1: you know, an opposites attract familiar setup. We all know
- 7:55Speaker 1: how it's going to end up, but it gave us
- 7:57Speaker 1: in a fresh environment. I liked the college small town
- 8:02Speaker 1: college setting. Loved it. I thought it was believable. I
- 8:06Speaker 1: just it was. It worked for me. Maybe it's the
- 8:11Speaker 1: season of life we're in. Yeah, well, because like you
- 8:16Speaker 1: have a college student, I have like a soon to
- 8:19Speaker 1: be a college student. College football is on my TV
- 8:22Speaker 1: every weekend. Like it's just you know, it conjured up
- 8:27Speaker 1: in like the best feelings in the very best way.
- 8:31Speaker 1: I thought. I always love a college set story. Give
- 8:34Speaker 1: me a college or a boarding school and I am
- 8:35Speaker 1: in like sold And I think the vibes were vibing
- 8:40Speaker 1: like strong college vibes, the campus setting. I was trying
- 8:43Speaker 1: to figure out where they filmed it. I couldn't really
- 8:46Speaker 1: figure that out. Oh I saw something on Reddit. I
- 8:50Speaker 1: think they showed it is like a real school in
- 8:54Speaker 1: the Utah area. I will look for it and I
- 8:58Speaker 1: will add it to our show notes if anybody is interested.
- 9:02Speaker 1: There's not enough like Hallmark movies with college settings, are there? No?
- 9:07Speaker 1: They could use more. I would watch them all. I
- 9:09Speaker 1: think so too. There's that one movie where we reviewed
- 9:13Speaker 1: years ago, and I had Cameron Matheson in it, and
- 9:16Speaker 1: I had like the single mom who moved her daughter
- 9:19Speaker 1: into college, and he was like, I don't know a
- 9:21Speaker 1: professor or something, Kelly Wagner. I don't think that's her
- 9:26Speaker 1: last Kelly Rutherford. Oh why do I think her name's Wagner?
- 9:30Speaker 1: You're Yeah? We reviewed that movie with Eric from Hallmark
- 9:34Speaker 1: Mysteries and More. Yeah, exactly. I can't remember the name
- 9:37Speaker 1: of the movie right now, but neither can I. But yes,
- 9:40Speaker 1: that was a good one. Only that's the only movie
- 9:43Speaker 1: I can remember outside of Misery one on one that's
- 9:46Speaker 1: at a college setting. Yeah, and I love the college
- 9:49Speaker 1: setting of Mystery one on one too. Give us more
- 9:50Speaker 1: college movies, give us a whole college series. Oh yeah,
- 9:55Speaker 1: i'd be great. How great would it be if you did?
- 9:58Speaker 2: Well?
- 9:58Speaker 1: Didn't they have that college one with the trivia last
- 10:01Speaker 1: year where she had to stick around? But that really
- 10:03Speaker 1: wasn't college set. Uh, but yeah, give us like stuck
- 10:08Speaker 1: on campus during which is what that story was, but
- 10:11Speaker 1: like lean into the college piece of it. Yeah, I agree, Okay, agree?
- 10:16Speaker 1: What else did you like? I really enjoyed Niki Deloche
- 10:20Speaker 1: and Warren Christie together. I thought they were a perfect match.
- 10:23Speaker 1: We talked about this last week too, because we had
- 10:26Speaker 1: an Andrew Walker movie last week, right, did we? Yes?
- 10:29Speaker 1: In the Brooding movie? Yes, and I was and I
- 10:32Speaker 1: was like, oh, it's so great to see Andrew working
- 10:34Speaker 1: with somebody who's not Nicki de Loche. Again this week,
- 10:38Speaker 1: It's so great to see Niaki Deloche working with somebody
- 10:40Speaker 1: who's not Andrew Walker. Like it, just like I liked
- 10:43Speaker 1: them together of course as Tom and Goldie, but I
- 10:46Speaker 1: liked them apart as well, Like I really liked her
- 10:49Speaker 1: with Warren Christy. I think she and Warren Christy have
- 10:51Speaker 1: a great chemistry. I think they have such like a
- 10:54Speaker 1: natural They feel such a great match. To me. I
- 10:58Speaker 1: thought so too. They had great cam machine. Now let
- 11:00Speaker 1: me ask you this. I was putting my notes together
- 11:03Speaker 1: this morning, and I was like, huh, was there ever
- 11:06Speaker 1: any mention for either of these two mature adults that
- 11:11Speaker 1: there was like they were divorced or they were anything.
- 11:16Speaker 1: I don't think so chronically single, nothing like that. Right, Well,
- 11:19Speaker 1: she was she was divorced because she had been. I'm
- 11:23Speaker 1: pretty sure she was divorced. She had been with that guy.
- 11:25Speaker 1: I thought. She said they got married at the end
- 11:26Speaker 1: of college, and their deal was like, that's right, that's right,
- 11:29Speaker 1: I'll support you through grad school and you'll support me.
- 11:32Speaker 1: And then he bounced, that's right. But it wasn't like, oh,
- 11:36Speaker 1: I'm single and sad. There was none of that, right.
- 11:40Speaker 1: I appreciated that. I liked it. I don't think it
- 11:42Speaker 1: needs to be part of every narrative, especially when we
- 11:46Speaker 1: have our leads are kind of, let's say, mature. I
- 11:52Speaker 1: kind of like the chaos in the house like a
- 11:55Speaker 1: little bit. I was like, you know, when there's uniforms
- 11:58Speaker 1: falling out of the pantry. Maybe we went like a
- 12:00Speaker 1: little bit too far, but you know, it's like front
- 12:03Speaker 1: House would make it Hallmark chaos were kind of fun,
- 12:08Speaker 1: over the top. But I thought also Nikki's golf heart
- 12:12Speaker 1: joy ride was a particular highlight. I mean, her just
- 12:16Speaker 1: running over people left and right. It was fun. I
- 12:19Speaker 1: enjoyed it. Okay, So I was worried. I was like,
- 12:22Speaker 1: this is gonna go to hygieninx for me. Yeah, but
- 12:25Speaker 1: they rained it in. It didn't. It got rained in.
- 12:27Speaker 1: There was that really funny scene where like the pantry
- 12:31Speaker 1: is stocked with protein powder. Yes, this is very relatable.
- 12:34Speaker 1: That was so funny. I don't know whoever thought about that,
- 12:37Speaker 1: but that was really really clever. I loved that. I
- 12:41Speaker 1: agree with you that Nikki's kind of like spinning out stuff.
- 12:46Speaker 1: I found enjoyable. But I am going to talk about
- 12:49Speaker 1: it in my wishes as well. We'll get there. I
- 12:53Speaker 1: want to talk about Nicki for a second. Yeah, in particular,
- 12:57Speaker 1: I think she deserves a lot of credit here for
- 13:00Speaker 1: delivering some of the dialogue. I thought the dialogue was
- 13:03Speaker 1: really good in this movie. Now I have seen on
- 13:07Speaker 1: Reddit some people were some people were not very kind
- 13:13Speaker 1: about the dialogue, like that it was very dry. I
- 13:17Speaker 1: thought it was fine and enjoyable, and there were several
- 13:20Speaker 1: times I thought Nikki like really like gave like certain
- 13:22Speaker 1: inflection or she did emoted with her face like that
- 13:25Speaker 1: really worked with the dialogue. There's one scene, it's a
- 13:30Speaker 1: total throwaway scene at the very top of the movie
- 13:33Speaker 1: and when she was she like sees the security guy
- 13:35Speaker 1: and she's like, oh, thanks for taking care of that
- 13:37Speaker 1: frat party last night, and he's like, oh, they were
- 13:38Speaker 1: playing Gaga, And I was just like, that's so cute.
- 13:42Speaker 1: This like total throwaway moment, but it was. It worked
- 13:46Speaker 1: for me. It felt very kind of pop cultury and relevant,
- 13:50Speaker 1: which I love when our Hallmark movies have a sprinkle
- 13:53Speaker 1: of that in it too. It worked for me. This
- 13:57Speaker 1: movie worked for me. It worked for me too. And
- 14:00Speaker 1: one thing I was paying attention. There's a moment where
- 14:04Speaker 1: she and Warren Christie's character are bantering back and forth.
- 14:08Speaker 1: And I think it's a combination of good acting and
- 14:10Speaker 1: good editing, because sometimes those edits where the cuts between
- 14:15Speaker 1: camera shots are going back and forth between dual perspectives,
- 14:19Speaker 1: sometimes those are shot in two takes right, like you'll
- 14:22Speaker 1: get a shot like looking over Nikki's shoulder while Warren
- 14:24Speaker 1: is speaking, and then you'll get another shot. And so
- 14:27Speaker 1: sometimes I find I used to think it was like
- 14:31Speaker 1: an issue with delivery of dialogue, but I actually think
- 14:34Speaker 1: it's an editing issue where the edits aren't made tight
- 14:37Speaker 1: enough to make that conversation pace feel natural. And it
- 14:42Speaker 1: was well done here where the edits were as quick
- 14:46Speaker 1: as the equipping back and forth. I really appreciated that.
- 14:49Speaker 1: You know, you and I love a rapid fire conversation,
- 14:52Speaker 1: and I like it when the dialogue keeps up. Did
- 14:56Speaker 1: that scene happen to be when they went out for
- 14:58Speaker 1: breakfast and he used his meal point to pay no?
- 15:01Speaker 1: But that was very funny? Yes, Oh my god, the
- 15:04Speaker 1: way I laughed, the way I laughed, and she just
- 15:07Speaker 1: was like, oh, like super like kind of annoyed by it. Yes,
- 15:11Speaker 1: that's where you took her. It was just it was
- 15:14Speaker 1: executed so nicely, I thought. I thought it was great too.
- 15:17Speaker 1: I loved the found family element that they put into this,
- 15:24Speaker 1: you know, like she just cares for these kids, which
- 15:27Speaker 1: I'm not surprised she's a college president. I'm sure any
- 15:31Speaker 1: any person in like a college administration or a professor
- 15:35Speaker 1: or whatever you see these kids as like your own, right,
- 15:40Speaker 1: I would hope that's the case. Say you think thea
- 15:42Speaker 1: at least care about them and their well being. Yeah,
- 15:45Speaker 1: it was nice to see her being maternal towards them, right,
- 15:48Speaker 1: And I like that she had this kind of arc
- 15:51Speaker 1: of like these kids are destroying my house too, Like
- 15:53Speaker 1: I love them, and we're going to get together every
- 15:56Speaker 1: Sunday night or whatever. Yeah, and fly in that kid's
- 15:59Speaker 1: family because he's homesick. Yes, I loved it, loved it,
- 16:02Speaker 1: loved it. The last thing I liked, I enjoyed. And
- 16:07Speaker 1: we talked about their Warren Christy and Nikki delicious chemistry.
- 16:13Speaker 1: They have this kiss and I was like, whoa Warren
- 16:17Speaker 1: delivers during the pop up concert? It was yeah, it
- 16:22Speaker 1: was good concert. Yes, Wow, what are we doing here?
- 16:27Speaker 1: There's nobody else here? Come on people, yeah, come on people.
- 16:31Speaker 1: But yeah, yeah, yeah, that kiss was h s GEMI
- 16:35Speaker 1: I thought, yeah, all the like face touching is perfection, perfection.
- 16:42Speaker 1: I want to circle back to my wardrobe comment before
- 16:45Speaker 1: we move on to wishes because listener Mackie, who also
- 16:48Speaker 1: happens to be Facebook group moderator. Mackie sent us an
- 16:53Speaker 1: email about the costume designer on this movie, whose name
- 16:55Speaker 1: is Audrey Nelson. She happens to be the sister of
- 16:58Speaker 1: director McLean Nelson. This is her first credit as a
- 17:03Speaker 1: lead costume designer. Mackie's comment was, Nikki looks so stylish
- 17:09Speaker 1: in the previews for this movie. I think Audrey has
- 17:11Speaker 1: great potential to fall in the footsteps of other celebrated
- 17:14Speaker 1: costume designers like Keith Nielsen. I'm nice. I thought NICKI
- 17:18Speaker 1: looked great. I loved her blazers, I loved her coats.
- 17:22Speaker 1: I'm glad this was filmed in March and Utah when
- 17:24Speaker 1: it is cold and she wasn't sweating it out in August.
- 17:28Speaker 1: I agree, I just didn't like those I didn't clock
- 17:31Speaker 1: the shoes. I did not clock the shoes. Let's stop wishes, Okay,
- 17:39Speaker 1: I have a few, and I mentioned it earlier. I
- 17:42Speaker 1: thought Cassidy's personality early on in this movie leaned too
- 17:51Speaker 1: far into this rigid, hyper controlling woman who just needs
- 17:58Speaker 1: to loosen up a little bit. I don't. This is
- 18:02Speaker 1: a stereotype I don't like or appreciate, and I think
- 18:06Speaker 1: homework leans into it a lot. Yeah. My comment was
- 18:11Speaker 1: that this college president needs to learn a little resiliency,
- 18:15Speaker 1: because that is your life is putting out fires, and
- 18:20Speaker 1: I felt like she couldn't handle even the slightest bit
- 18:24Speaker 1: of inconvenience. Now, having obviously football players moved in to
- 18:29Speaker 1: your house is the other end of that, but I
- 18:31Speaker 1: just felt like there was no give at first, and
- 18:36Speaker 1: I needed her to, you know, we were teaching our
- 18:38Speaker 1: kids to be resilient. She needed to learn the same thing. Interesting,
- 18:42Speaker 1: that's interesting. I agree with you there, I just give
- 18:47Speaker 1: me something more to understand why her character was this
- 18:53Speaker 1: type a country because she's learned that she can't count
- 18:57Speaker 1: on anybody else. Oh, you're right, it is there, it
- 19:01Speaker 1: is Okay, Well that makes sense. But I still didn't
- 19:04Speaker 1: like it. I just don't like when you know, she
- 19:08Speaker 1: looks like the bad guy. Yeah, for sure, I I
- 19:12Speaker 1: don't disagree. I didn't love a lot of the contention
- 19:14Speaker 1: that we saw between her and coach Logan, Like I
- 19:19Speaker 1: felt like in the beginning he was like, just relax,
- 19:22Speaker 1: go with the flow that vibe, which like nothing ratchets
- 19:26Speaker 1: up my blood pressure faster than someone telling me to
- 19:29Speaker 1: relax or calm down or just be cool, go with
- 19:31Speaker 1: the flow. Like you can't just go with the flow,
- 19:33Speaker 1: like somebody has to make the flow. And so I
- 19:37Speaker 1: didn't love that she was the one who had to
- 19:39Speaker 1: be like, okay, we need you need to listen to
- 19:42Speaker 1: me here, like this isn't gonna work the way you
- 19:43Speaker 1: think it's gonna work. And I think she came up
- 19:47Speaker 1: with a very reasonable yes option that they would be
- 19:53Speaker 1: like housed off off campus or whatever. Look, I want
- 19:56Speaker 1: to talk about my my obsession with TikTok. I see
- 19:59Speaker 1: lots and lots of videos of like college kids like
- 20:02Speaker 1: getting you know, broken broken pipes or whatever and being
- 20:06Speaker 1: flooded out of their dorm rooms and then the school
- 20:09Speaker 1: has to make other accommodations for them, Like it happens right,
- 20:12Speaker 1: My college had a housing shortage one year and there
- 20:15Speaker 1: were freshmen living in the hotel across the street. Like
- 20:18Speaker 1: they literally turned the hotel into dorms. This is not
- 20:21Speaker 1: all that unusual. Yeah, I don't think it's. Well, okay,
- 20:24Speaker 1: let me get to my next point then, which really
- 20:26Speaker 1: bothered me is the space that they used, that unused
- 20:31Speaker 1: space that they were going to transform into like the
- 20:34Speaker 1: formal four. Oh yeah, put some beds in there, exactly.
- 20:38Speaker 1: I was like, why didn't we use this space? Yeah?
- 20:41Speaker 1: Uh huh yeah, and maybe they didn't have like showers,
- 20:45Speaker 1: but these are also student athletes who probably have access
- 20:48Speaker 1: to gyms with for sure a locker room, locker rooms,
- 20:52Speaker 1: yeah exactly, Yes, but there was your solution, but no
- 20:57Speaker 1: had to move into the president's house. Yeah exactly. I
- 21:01Speaker 1: was wondering, like this time exists in this because there's
- 21:06Speaker 1: all these deadlines, right, it's football season. They're also trying
- 21:11Speaker 1: to pitch this donor and also have this formal dance.
- 21:16Speaker 1: But like their days are so long. I'm like, how
- 21:20Speaker 1: many hours are in a day? Yeah, this the timing
- 21:22Speaker 1: was weird to me. And then like she'd be in
- 21:24Speaker 1: the office, and then she'd be at her home office,
- 21:27Speaker 1: and then she would be you know, she had to
- 21:28Speaker 1: walk to school all the time at yes, very same clothes,
- 21:32Speaker 1: all in the same clothes. And then in the beginning
- 21:34Speaker 1: they're like, well, we only have they're only living here
- 21:36Speaker 1: for three days, which to me, I was like three
- 21:38Speaker 1: days or five days or whatever, Like they can go
- 21:41Speaker 1: stay in a hotel for five days, it's not the
- 21:42Speaker 1: entire season, Like we're being ridiculous here. Two other wishes
- 21:47Speaker 1: that I had was I didn't love I didn't love
- 21:50Speaker 1: the conflict that happened. You know, Cassidy's mad that Logan
- 21:55Speaker 1: doesn't make it back in time for the donor pitch, right,
- 21:58Speaker 1: and I thought that she was overreact in a little
- 22:00Speaker 1: bit because life happens. He wasn't being careless or disrespectful.
- 22:04Speaker 1: He went to like his dad's like thing got caught
- 22:08Speaker 1: up with like something didn't pick up the model in time,
- 22:12Speaker 1: did not get back to the school in time, and
- 22:15Speaker 1: I felt like, oh, this would have been like a
- 22:17Speaker 1: good moment to realize, Okay, these are two like professionals
- 22:20Speaker 1: who are both have crazy demands on them. But it
- 22:24Speaker 1: was all this manufacturer like you have to get back
- 22:26Speaker 1: in time and do this pitch or it's all going
- 22:28Speaker 1: to fall apart. And he doesn't, and she's pissed, and
- 22:31Speaker 1: I'm like, what this is? This is easily talked through. Yeah,
- 22:35Speaker 1: So my feeling about that is I kind of liked
- 22:39Speaker 1: the idea of you know, she makes that final speech
- 22:42Speaker 1: in the end about not being a lone wolf but
- 22:44Speaker 1: being part of a wolf pack, and I like that
- 22:46Speaker 1: she brought it full circle because she had originally talked about,
- 22:50Speaker 1: you know, like I learned when my husband left, like
- 22:53Speaker 1: I can't haunt on anybody but myself. I thought it
- 22:56Speaker 1: fell apart in the exact moment that you did when
- 22:58Speaker 1: he doesn't make it back in time, and that one
- 23:00Speaker 1: little slight is her realizing like I can't count on anybody,
- 23:04Speaker 1: instead of her like backtracking to be like it was
- 23:08Speaker 1: such a slim margin of era that we were going
- 23:09Speaker 1: to be able to make this happen anyway, Like, dude
- 23:12Speaker 1: built a model in forty eight hours, and this guy's
- 23:15Speaker 1: maybe going to make it back in time to make
- 23:17Speaker 1: it to the presentation, Like there was no build in
- 23:21Speaker 1: for like a only in the best case scenario does
- 23:24Speaker 1: this work out. She just went straight to like, you
- 23:26Speaker 1: have failed me. I cannot count on anybody ever. Again,
- 23:30Speaker 1: here's another problem I have, just a small one. It
- 23:33Speaker 1: is such a bad idea for the president of the
- 23:35Speaker 1: school to be romantically involved with the football coach, especially
- 23:39Speaker 1: with all like the budgetary issues. Yes, exactly, this is
- 23:43Speaker 1: a nightmareage. Yes, Oh this is bad. This is a
- 23:46Speaker 1: bad idea. Uh huh uh huh. I don't disagree with
- 23:49Speaker 1: you at all. The last wish I had is I
- 23:54Speaker 1: don't understand. Explain to me, like I'm a child. How
- 23:58Speaker 1: do they save the arts program by building a football stadium?
- 24:01Speaker 1: Oh my gosh, it makes no sense to me. They're like,
- 24:05Speaker 1: we can offer naming rights. You already named it after
- 24:07Speaker 1: the Farnsworth Dude, Like we're calling it, yeah, Farnsworth Field. Okay,
- 24:11Speaker 1: well now you can't call it State Farms Stadium. Like
- 24:13Speaker 1: when we get to do there? Wow, how does this
- 24:18Speaker 1: news stadium make money for the arts program? I don't understand. Yeah,
- 24:23Speaker 1: I didn't understand it. But I also hated that, let's
- 24:28Speaker 1: go down this road again, that the arts are you know, underfunded.
- 24:35Speaker 1: What movie was it? It was those? It was those,
- 24:39Speaker 1: the four movies. They had the same thing that arts
- 24:43Speaker 1: were being cut from their school. Do you know what
- 24:45Speaker 1: I'm talking about? The table movies? Yeah, around the table hearts,
- 24:49Speaker 1: around the table movies. Yeah, exactly. Like part of me
- 24:53Speaker 1: like gets it. I'm like, Okay, it does need to
- 24:56Speaker 1: be talked about, but also like I oh, I can't
- 25:01Speaker 1: get like that excited over it. Like I'm not getting
- 25:03Speaker 1: that worked up over it. And they have this like
- 25:06Speaker 1: whole scene where they have this sort of like pop
- 25:10Speaker 1: up on campus and arts pop up. They have like
- 25:14Speaker 1: two home service gosh, embarrassing, welcome everybody. I was like,
- 25:18Speaker 1: there's nobody there, what's happening? What is this thing that
- 25:20Speaker 1: they have going on? There's like eight people standing around.
- 25:24Speaker 1: So silly, so silly, so silly. But that's all I have.
- 25:27Speaker 1: Her wishes. Let's talk to you. Just see that. I
- 25:30Speaker 1: have a few. God, I have so many things to say.
- 25:32Speaker 1: Let's hear it. Oh my gosh, I'm excited to hear yours.
- 25:36Speaker 1: One is there is a September calendar in the kitchen,
- 25:39Speaker 1: hanging in Cassidy's kitchen, And I hate it when, like
- 25:44Speaker 1: Hallmark time stamps, they're like that, first of all, this
- 25:47Speaker 1: is October. Like I know, I know when they made
- 25:50Speaker 1: this movie they didn't know exactly when was going to
- 25:52Speaker 1: come out. It just needs it to be fall. It's okay, Yeah,
- 25:54Speaker 1: I don't need it. I don't need a September calendar
- 25:57Speaker 1: to tell me it's fall. Sure, I know it's fall
- 25:59Speaker 1: because college football is happening. Yes, anyway, that's one of mine.
- 26:03Speaker 1: Tell me one of yours. Oh my god, I have
- 26:04Speaker 1: so many. Uh, I have a couple. Did you hear that's? Oh?
- 26:07Speaker 1: First up, open up, rip Van Wilder when she's banging
- 26:10Speaker 1: on the door, Rip Van Wilder's a great line, laughed
- 26:13Speaker 1: out loud. Huh, I did not catch it, so funny,
- 26:17Speaker 1: Like do you understand the joke? I don't. Rip Van
- 26:20Speaker 1: Winkle is like Sleeps Forever. And then Van Wilder is
- 26:24Speaker 1: that movie with Ryan Reynolds where he's like the college bozo.
- 26:28Speaker 1: I loved it, a movie my husband loves, which is
- 26:31Speaker 1: why I have seen it. Wait with Ryan Reynolds, you
- 26:34Speaker 1: mean you mean wait the guy that was in he
- 26:37Speaker 1: just recently passed Val Kilmer. Val Kilmer in Van Wilder.
- 26:42Speaker 1: He was in a movie similar to that, which feels
- 26:45Speaker 1: like a movie your husband would watch. Hold on, real genius.
- 26:48Speaker 1: I don't know what that is. I don't know why
- 26:50Speaker 1: am I thinking? Like, man, okay, whatever, all right, never mind. Yeah,
- 26:54Speaker 1: Van Wilder is Ryan Reynolds and Tara Reid. He's like
- 26:57Speaker 1: a the eighth year senior. Anyway, it was a funny line,
- 27:00Speaker 1: quick throwaway. Also one of the football players as he's
- 27:04Speaker 1: like excusing himself, He's like, I'm gonna go pop and
- 27:06Speaker 1: lock it with the guys. Yeah, I got that here
- 27:08Speaker 1: of that and another, did you hear that there's a
- 27:11Speaker 1: discussion of the college transfer portal, which I wondered if
- 27:14Speaker 1: you clocked because I only know about because of you,
- 27:17Speaker 1: and then our friend who is a college basketball coach didn't.
- 27:20Speaker 1: But now get me started on it. I know the
- 27:22Speaker 1: coach is like, now call it. Kids can transfer schools
- 27:26Speaker 1: at any point and that messes up my program. So
- 27:29Speaker 1: I thought it was a timely mention. What other did
- 27:32Speaker 1: you see that? You have just some inconsistencies. During the
- 27:36Speaker 1: breakfast scene that I talked about earlier, where he takes
- 27:39Speaker 1: her out to the student cafe or whatever, I couldn't
- 27:43Speaker 1: stop noticing Nikki has her fork in one hand and
- 27:46Speaker 1: then it's gone, and then it's there again and it's gone.
- 27:49Speaker 1: It's not like I mean, these are like rapid fire
- 27:50Speaker 1: back and forth. Yeah, she's holding it, she's not. She's
- 27:53Speaker 1: holding it, she's not. That's just one of those things
- 27:57Speaker 1: that drives me crazy. Not everybody catches it. And the
- 28:01Speaker 1: other is towards the end where they're making smoothies in
- 28:04Speaker 1: the kitchen and they blend up the smoothie and then
- 28:07Speaker 1: the next scene it's not blended. Yes, I did notice that,
- 28:11Speaker 1: did you? Yeah? I love it. You can still see
- 28:14Speaker 1: like the fruit sticking up out of the top yep. Yes.
- 28:16Speaker 1: So on the way out of the locker room, there's
- 28:18Speaker 1: a sign that says trust and it is very much
- 28:20Speaker 1: written in the style of the Ted Lasso Believes sign
- 28:22Speaker 1: with straight up blue tape around it on the wall.
- 28:25Speaker 1: When they make the apology meals or like everybody made
- 28:28Speaker 1: a meal from their hometown except one of the Dude's
- 28:31Speaker 1: contribution to the apology meal is simply to say Antonio
- 28:34Speaker 1: made flyun which, okay, there are no other cars on
- 28:38Speaker 1: the road, but the Kappa Beta's parking her driveway every
- 28:40Speaker 1: single day while not a single car is parked on
- 28:43Speaker 1: the street. And finally, when they go grocery shopping in
- 28:48Speaker 1: that tiny store, it makes no sense. First of all,
- 28:51Speaker 1: the store is about the size of my living room.
- 28:54Speaker 1: They talk about how the dudes eat a lot, but
- 28:55Speaker 1: he buys like four single apples and places them loosely
- 28:58Speaker 1: in the cart. I mean, it's like they staged a
- 29:01Speaker 1: grocery store. There is no way that's either. Like maybe
- 29:05Speaker 1: it's like a college mini mart. I could see it
- 29:07Speaker 1: being that where they have like, you know, little things
- 29:10Speaker 1: that you can grab and go, but it was not
- 29:13Speaker 1: a full grocery store. I didn't even really clock that.
- 29:17Speaker 1: I mean, you'd have it, you probably don't even need to.
- 29:21Speaker 1: But he's like they eat so much, and then he's
- 29:23Speaker 1: like apple, Apple, Apple. I'm like, there's five of them,
- 29:26Speaker 1: and you bought three apples and you put them loosely
- 29:28Speaker 1: in the cart, and there's eight things on the shelves
- 29:31Speaker 1: in this store. What I also thought was funny too,
- 29:34Speaker 1: is like these same five guys like kept showing up.
- 29:36Speaker 1: I was like, this is not your whole football team, Like,
- 29:38Speaker 1: where's the other forty five Yes, guys that play on
- 29:42Speaker 1: your team and the other coaches you coach with. Yes,
- 29:46Speaker 1: football practice was very small. Also, when they were like
- 29:50Speaker 1: we gotta we gotta have a chorch ar I'm like,
- 29:52Speaker 1: they're here for five days? How often? Like you don't
- 29:55Speaker 1: need to meal plan and grocery shop. These dudes are athletes,
- 29:58Speaker 1: go eat on campus, they have a meal plan totally. Yeah,
- 30:01Speaker 1: I'm like, why are they eating at her home? Yeah?
- 30:03Speaker 1: What did you rate Home Turf? Well, it might surprise you,
- 30:08Speaker 1: but I actually really liked it. I gave it four stars.
- 30:10Speaker 1: I gave it four stars too that I feel like
- 30:13Speaker 1: my list of wishes is pretty long, Like there are
- 30:16Speaker 1: like a lot of things that I found wrong with it,
- 30:18Speaker 1: but I enjoyed the vibe of it the most. Yeah,
- 30:22Speaker 1: I agree. So, yeah, it was great. I didn't think
- 30:25Speaker 1: it felt very like Fall, unless you're like football is
- 30:28Speaker 1: synonymous with fall. But I did enjoy the movie. Yeah. Hey,
