- 0:03Speaker 1: All right, we're back. I can't call him an insider.
- 0:06Speaker 1: I'm gonna call hi an outsider. Uh, he should be
- 0:08Speaker 1: outside because he's too comfortable in Texas's indoor ballpark. Evan
- 0:12Speaker 1: Grant with a what are you? Who are you at
- 0:14Speaker 1: the Dallas Morning Post?
- 0:15Speaker 2: What is it Dallas Morning News? Thanks for your love
- 0:19Speaker 2: of journalism, a Jane, I.
- 0:21Speaker 1: Mean, from one journalist to another, Evan, You're welcome.
- 0:26Speaker 2: What do you got from me? Before we get into
- 0:28Speaker 2: pope talk?
- 0:30Speaker 3: Uh?
- 0:30Speaker 1: I mean, first of all, I Ken has to call
- 0:32Speaker 1: me the eminence, your eminence, so I don't know, we
- 0:34Speaker 1: have to come up with something for you to call me.
- 0:35Speaker 1: That's that's even better because you've actually bought me food before.
- 0:40Speaker 1: I'm like Ken, So I can't be I can't be
- 0:44Speaker 1: as you know, harsh on you as I am on Ken.
- 0:47Speaker 2: You can be. Yeah, you can be much harder on
- 0:49Speaker 2: Ken than me. True. True.
- 0:51Speaker 1: Plus you're bigger than Ken, so you might actually be
- 0:54Speaker 1: able to get a punch in. So I gotta I
- 0:55Speaker 1: gotta be careful.
- 0:57Speaker 2: Yeah, me and you, I will. It'd be just like
- 0:59Speaker 2: Odor and Tista. I'd be the Batista in that.
- 1:04Speaker 1: Wow. Okay, okay, that's fair that's fair. I got the
- 1:07Speaker 1: reach advantage, that's for sure. So yes, by the way,
- 1:11Speaker 1: I was in Italy. I know you love food, so
- 1:14Speaker 1: I love Italy.
- 1:15Speaker 2: Let me just let me say this. Look before we
- 1:17Speaker 2: get into anybs. That was awesome that you got to
- 1:22Speaker 2: meet the post that you got to present them the
- 1:24Speaker 2: ball from from two thousand and five, absolutely awesome. And
- 1:28Speaker 2: Italy is a it's a magical place. Was that your
- 1:30Speaker 2: first trip.
- 1:32Speaker 1: No, I've been over there a couple of times. That's why. Chrats.
- 1:34Speaker 1: Have you ever been to Italy?
- 1:36Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 1:37Speaker 1: Okay, so I just want to say this. I know
- 1:38Speaker 1: Evan's been over there multiple times. I've been over there
- 1:40Speaker 1: multiple times. The food in Rome is the most overrated
- 1:44Speaker 1: thing in the world. Now, other cities besides Rome, like Milan, Venice, Florence,
- 1:50Speaker 1: a lot of the other cities are the food is great.
- 1:53Speaker 1: But I have to say the food in Rome it
- 1:56Speaker 1: kind of sucks. Evan.
- 1:58Speaker 2: Well, I mean, I'm a fan of Taverna Trylosa, been
- 2:02Speaker 2: there several times. I know Mark Kanna was just there.
- 2:04Speaker 2: He was posting from all over Europe on his trip.
- 2:08Speaker 2: It's a big hit with the baseball crowd. But there's
- 2:11Speaker 2: great food all over Italy. There's no shortage of great
- 2:14Speaker 2: food in Italy. There's more touristy places in Rome for sure.
- 2:18Speaker 1: Yeah. And by the way, why can we not cook
- 2:20Speaker 1: pasta right like crowds? I don't know. Crowds probably is
- 2:24Speaker 1: gluten free and pasta free. But why can we not
- 2:28Speaker 1: cook pasta the way they cook pasta in Italy? It
- 2:31Speaker 1: is like perfect every time, it's like the perfect pasta cooked.
- 2:35Speaker 1: It's soft but hard, it's like perfect. I don't know,
- 2:38Speaker 1: it's aldente. I don't know.
- 2:40Speaker 2: I know it is the ad thing and I know
- 2:42Speaker 2: this is this is cooking with Aj and Evan. This
- 2:44Speaker 2: is a great episode. But yeah, the pasta in Italy
- 2:47Speaker 2: just tastes differently. The wheat is. The wheat is a
- 2:50Speaker 2: better quality I think, and it is cooked perfectly. And
- 2:55Speaker 2: when you get a perfectly cooked pasta, when you get
- 2:57Speaker 2: that little snap and it's still chewy but softs, it
- 3:03Speaker 2: adds a whole different layer to the experience.
- 3:06Speaker 1: That's great.
- 3:06Speaker 4: It's great.
- 3:06Speaker 1: Crats one day. I hope you get to get over
- 3:08Speaker 1: there because it is a different by the way, and
- 3:10Speaker 1: by the way, speaking of places that people love, I
- 3:12Speaker 1: went to the place that invented alf feta chini Alfredo.
- 3:15Speaker 1: Not this trip. My last trip is the worst alfredo
- 3:17Speaker 1: I ever had. I don't know what it's called. Anyways,
- 3:19Speaker 1: We're gonna go back to baseball now because I'm getting
- 3:21Speaker 1: yelled at by producer Lady for talking about things that
- 3:23Speaker 1: are not baseball. And this is like the second or
- 3:25Speaker 1: third thing we've gotten off of baseball. So let's talk Rangers.
- 3:29Speaker 1: The Rangers are in this thing. If they can only
- 3:31Speaker 1: play outside of Globe life all the time, they can
- 3:33Speaker 1: score some runs. So what is going on in Ranger world?
- 3:38Speaker 2: Well, I mean, I think the biggest issue is if
- 3:41Speaker 2: you look at their record, they're five hundred on the road,
- 3:44Speaker 2: which is great, They're five hundred at home, which is terrible.
- 3:47Speaker 2: And they have a lot more home games the rest
- 3:49Speaker 2: of the way that they can hopefully make up some
- 3:53Speaker 2: ground for themselves. They're in a stretch right now with
- 3:55Speaker 2: sixteen and nineteen at home at Globalive Field. It is
- 3:59Speaker 2: time for this offense to go. It is time for
- 4:02Speaker 2: them to find a way to score runs now. The
- 4:05Speaker 2: big obstacle in all of this is that your two
- 4:07Speaker 2: best players are Corey Seeger and Wyatt Langford, and both
- 4:10Speaker 2: of them have missed at least half of the season,
- 4:13Speaker 2: in Langford's case, more than half the season, and both
- 4:16Speaker 2: are currently on the IL. So it's hard to really
- 4:18Speaker 2: get a feel for what your offense is when you're
- 4:20Speaker 2: missing your two best offensive players.
- 4:24Speaker 4: But what is wrong with the stadium? What is the
- 4:28Speaker 4: issue that a team? When you look across the league,
- 4:30Speaker 4: it is home and road splits goalore not for the Rangers.
- 4:35Speaker 4: What are they What are they doing to try to
- 4:37Speaker 4: combat this issue? That's been an issue for a little
- 4:41Speaker 4: while now.
- 4:42Speaker 2: It's been really an issue since the start at twenty
- 4:44Speaker 2: four And the only thing that really sticks out is
- 4:48Speaker 2: if you hit a ball to center field, you have
- 4:50Speaker 2: got to hit it one hundred and seven miles an
- 4:52Speaker 2: hour or harder to get it out. It is a
- 4:55Speaker 2: bigger center field and for some reason, balls tend to
- 4:59Speaker 2: die there. But we just went through a June and
- 5:01Speaker 2: they weren't home all that much in June, but when
- 5:04Speaker 2: they were home, balls were flying out of there. So
- 5:07Speaker 2: it's inconsistent, and that leads me to think that there's
- 5:09Speaker 2: some degree of weather involved, even though it's an indoor stadium.
- 5:14Speaker 2: But you've got these the thing I want I would
- 5:17Speaker 2: like to look at, and I've heard some rumbles. I
- 5:19Speaker 2: haven't gotten my real sit down from the Rangers on this,
- 5:21Speaker 2: but at the top of the stadium, you guys have
- 5:23Speaker 2: both been in there. You know you've got those kind
- 5:25Speaker 2: of translucent panels, and I think there's somewhat permeable, and
- 5:29Speaker 2: I think the air around the stadium actually has an
- 5:33Speaker 2: impact on that, and that may have some impact on
- 5:36Speaker 2: how the ball flies. But the Rangers will tell you
- 5:39Speaker 2: that last year they started off awful at home, and
- 5:42Speaker 2: as the season progressed, they saw that effect where the
- 5:47Speaker 2: balls weren't as negatively impacted kind of take place. I
- 5:52Speaker 2: don't have any definitive answers. They clearly don't have any
- 5:55Speaker 2: definitive answers, but there's certainly a difference in how this
- 5:58Speaker 2: team plays at home versus on the road.
- 6:04Speaker 4: Kip, I've been looking for the best deals for the
- 6:06Speaker 4: All Star Game tickets in Philly. Where are you gonna
- 6:09Speaker 4: get some tickets from?
- 6:11Speaker 5: I'm going straight out to Rife Field. If Harper and
- 6:13Speaker 5: Schwarber both joined the home run derby, I want to
- 6:16Speaker 5: be catching the hometown guys hating them, So I'm going
- 6:18Speaker 5: out to the Rife Field kind of where I think
- 6:19Speaker 5: I could get the best chance of catching one of
- 6:21Speaker 5: those home runs.
- 6:22Speaker 4: Maybe in the second deck. You can go on the
- 6:24Speaker 4: app and you can look to see what your view
- 6:25Speaker 4: is going to because the boys are going to be
- 6:27Speaker 4: launching them Johns And with over thirty five million downloads,
- 6:30Speaker 4: see Geek is the number one rated ticketing app. There
- 6:33Speaker 4: are more than seventy thousand events listed at seekik, including concerts, sports, festivals,
- 6:39Speaker 4: and more. And of course I have a code for
- 6:41Speaker 4: you all. You can use the code territory ten for
- 6:44Speaker 4: ten percent off your next set of MLB tickets at seakeeek.
- 6:48Speaker 4: That's ten percent off MLB tickets with promo code territory ten.
- 6:52Speaker 4: Make sure you click the link in the description to
- 6:55Speaker 4: download the app and have the code automatically added to
- 6:57Speaker 4: your account so you could use it later thanking to
- 7:00Speaker 4: see kick and we'll see at the game.
- 7:03Speaker 1: Is if travel better when it's hot? Is that kind
- 7:05Speaker 1: of what you're saying? It has to be hot, warmer
- 7:07Speaker 1: and it's always hot in June, July and August of Texas, Like.
- 7:09Speaker 2: Yeah, I think that would be my general That would
- 7:12Speaker 2: be my general take is that it seems like if
- 7:15Speaker 2: you get a little bit more humid air, a little
- 7:17Speaker 2: bit hotter, maybe the ball does travel a little bit better.
- 7:20Speaker 1: And they never play with the roof open. They never
- 7:22Speaker 1: play with it open ever.
- 7:24Speaker 2: Play about six games a year with the roof open
- 7:26Speaker 2: in April, May and then a couple games in September,
- 7:29Speaker 2: particularly like Sunday afternoon games in September. It's a beautiful
- 7:33Speaker 2: stadium when it's open. It's a completely different stadium to
- 7:35Speaker 2: me when it's open versus when it's closed.
- 7:38Speaker 4: Uh.
- 7:38Speaker 2: But yeah, I mean it's just too hot most of
- 7:40Speaker 2: the year to play with the roof open.
- 7:45Speaker 1: Hold on, cutch. They need to make them play with
- 7:46Speaker 1: the roof open. We played in that old stadium. It
- 7:49Speaker 1: was one hundred and twenty. We take the field. No
- 7:50Speaker 1: one complain.
- 7:54Speaker 2: Nobody's worried about you, Aja, They're worried about the fans.
- 7:56Speaker 2: They don't want the fans to pass. Oh, the fans
- 7:58Speaker 2: are fine.
- 8:02Speaker 1: No, it makes sense. Okay, go ahead, Cratzy, thank you.
- 8:05Speaker 4: There's not a lot of shade there when you open
- 8:08Speaker 4: the roof. But one of the things, one of the
- 8:12Speaker 4: things we have to look at is the two guys
- 8:14Speaker 4: that are leading the team in home runs, two guys
- 8:17Speaker 4: that were brought in last year to lead the team
- 8:20Speaker 4: in home runs because they couldn't hit the four seam fastball.
- 8:23Speaker 4: As a team, Berger and Petersenberger even spent a few
- 8:26Speaker 4: days in the bushes last year both of them were
- 8:28Speaker 4: brought in. Now this year they're leading the team in
- 8:31Speaker 4: home runs. Is that a credit to see why saying Okay,
- 8:36Speaker 4: we saw these were guys that were gonna be value
- 8:38Speaker 4: for this team, it just took us two years. Or
- 8:41Speaker 4: is that really a regression from the rest of the team.
- 8:46Speaker 2: No, I mean, I think more of it is that
- 8:48Speaker 2: these two guys have have found their footing, and I
- 8:50Speaker 2: think that you know, in Jake's case, I can point
- 8:52Speaker 2: to a pretty distinct mechanical change that I think has
- 8:55Speaker 2: taking place. He's he's striding much more to the pitcher
- 8:58Speaker 2: than he is, you know, pulling off balls, and I
- 9:01Speaker 2: think that has given him much more impact. In Jock's case, look,
- 9:07Speaker 2: he got off to a bad start last year, then
- 9:10Speaker 2: he got hurt, missed like two months of the season,
- 9:13Speaker 2: and I think he struggled with the dynamics of the
- 9:17Speaker 2: team last year. I think the whatever dysfunction existed between
- 9:21Speaker 2: Seeger and Simeon, I think probably impacted Jock Moore because
- 9:24Speaker 2: he comes from that background of it's all about winning.
- 9:27Speaker 2: It's all about winning, and so credit to both those players.
- 9:32Speaker 2: I mean, that's where I think the credit lieses Both
- 9:34Speaker 2: those players realized that last year was a subpar year
- 9:37Speaker 2: and that they needed to make some changes and do
- 9:40Speaker 2: some things differently. And I've seen Jock, I mean, since
- 9:44Speaker 2: he's been moved into the leadoff spot. You know, he's
- 9:47Speaker 2: not your prototypical leadoff hitter in any way, but he's
- 9:50Speaker 2: hit a lot of leadoff in his career. He knows
- 9:52Speaker 2: how to taken it bat there, he knows what the
- 9:54Speaker 2: mission is there, and he's got the ability to hit
- 9:56Speaker 2: with power there. And that's what we're saying. He had
- 9:58Speaker 2: a in Toronto. You know, you guys were talking about
- 10:01Speaker 2: torn and the Rangers just went up there and won
- 10:02Speaker 2: four straight. But he had an eleven pitch at bat
- 10:06Speaker 2: and the lead off the game ended it with a homer,
- 10:09Speaker 2: and you could just tell at that point in time
- 10:11Speaker 2: that that was a kind of a bat that changed that.
- 10:13Speaker 2: I don't want to say it's the tempo sitter. I
- 10:15Speaker 2: felt like that was a game a game changer.
- 10:19Speaker 1: Okay, that's fair. Let's talk about some other guys, though.
- 10:22Speaker 1: You mentioned Cory Seger earlier. Now Michael Berre, a resident
- 10:25Speaker 1: ranger expert who works for US here at foul Territory,
- 10:29Speaker 1: said that there's some fans growing a little bit weary. Levy,
- 10:32Speaker 1: I'm not a journalist like you, but I'm not exactly
- 10:35Speaker 1: the right word of Corey Seeger him being injured all
- 10:37Speaker 1: the time, saying he doesn't care. I know Cory Seger,
- 10:40Speaker 1: he cares okay, and he wants to be out there.
- 10:42Speaker 1: But what do you make of the fans I hate
- 10:45Speaker 1: to even say that, getting a little tired of him
- 10:49Speaker 1: not being on the field.
- 10:50Speaker 2: Well, I mean it is. Look, it's nine il triumps
- 10:53Speaker 2: in four years, and it's three this year. It was
- 10:56Speaker 2: three last year. Fans are down on the team overall
- 11:01Speaker 2: over the last two years, and they want to see
- 11:03Speaker 2: better performance, and the fact that Corey has not been
- 11:06Speaker 2: out there and won't be out there for one hundred
- 11:08Speaker 2: and twenty games this year has frustrated them. I thought
- 11:11Speaker 2: the one thing that was unfair. Fans can say whatever
- 11:13Speaker 2: they want. The one thing that I think was really
- 11:15Speaker 2: unfair was it took longer for him to get back
- 11:19Speaker 2: from a concussion than just the seven days, and fans
- 11:23Speaker 2: were accusing him of not wanting to get on the field.
- 11:26Speaker 2: We all know that the concussion Protocol is a formal process,
- 11:29Speaker 2: and we also know we're dealing with a brain injury there,
- 11:32Speaker 2: and I think it's unfair to take shots at a
- 11:35Speaker 2: player for that. I do think it's right at this
- 11:38Speaker 2: point in time to ask questions. This is a thirty
- 11:40Speaker 2: two year old going on thirty three. He's been on
- 11:43Speaker 2: the ail now twice with a back issue this year.
- 11:46Speaker 2: Does he have a back condition? And if he's got
- 11:48Speaker 2: a back condition, does that mean that if you're looking
- 11:51Speaker 2: at the future, should he move off of shortstop? Should
- 11:54Speaker 2: he move off a shortstop in general? Just because of
- 11:56Speaker 2: the amount of time he's spent on the il with
- 11:58Speaker 2: soft tissue injuries at a position that is very physically demanding.
- 12:02Speaker 2: And I think all of those are legitimate questions. I
- 12:05Speaker 2: get that fans get frustrated, and I get on Twitter
- 12:08Speaker 2: and in social media they lash out with some words
- 12:11Speaker 2: that I think are our personal attacks. I don't think
- 12:15Speaker 2: that part of it is fair, but I do think
- 12:16Speaker 2: it's it's fair to question whether or not Seger should
- 12:21Speaker 2: whether the best long term future for Cory Seger is
- 12:24Speaker 2: still a shortstop can.
- 12:27Speaker 4: You shed any more light on the Seager Simeon tiff
- 12:32Speaker 4: for whatever there was that now time has passed that
- 12:35Speaker 4: maybe more has come out about it.
- 12:38Speaker 2: I just don't think those guys really got along, you know.
- 12:41Speaker 2: And I think Marcus took a lot of pride in
- 12:43Speaker 2: being out there every day, and maybe he had some
- 12:45Speaker 2: frustration that Corey wasn't out there every day. But you
- 12:52Speaker 2: don't if that's the case, And I don't know what
- 12:55Speaker 2: took place between those two in terms of direct contact.
- 12:59Speaker 2: You go out and do your job and let the
- 13:01Speaker 2: other guy go out and do his, and we can't speak.
- 13:04Speaker 2: Just like I just said, you can't speak for what
- 13:06Speaker 2: somebody else is dealing with health wise in one way
- 13:09Speaker 2: or another. And so I think that that Marcus could
- 13:14Speaker 2: be on occasion, could be sarcastic in the clubhouse, and
- 13:17Speaker 2: I think that that riled Quarry up in some ways.
- 13:20Speaker 2: So Cory has taken the high road on all this,
- 13:22Speaker 2: and I don't think Marcus has really spoken on it,
- 13:25Speaker 2: and probably won't get a chance to ask Marcus until
- 13:28Speaker 2: the Mets come in here the last home stand of
- 13:30Speaker 2: the last home stand of the season, if he's playing
- 13:33Speaker 2: at that point in time. But they were. They were
- 13:36Speaker 2: guys who were headed in different directions and they approach
- 13:39Speaker 2: things in different ways. And look, there are guys now
- 13:43Speaker 2: like Corey. You know, I know that for a lot
- 13:45Speaker 2: of for a lot of veterans, they look at guys
- 13:47Speaker 2: who aren't on the field for batting practice or for
- 13:52Speaker 2: infield practice, and they're like, well, this is how I've
- 13:55Speaker 2: always done it. Well, it's not the way it's done
- 13:57Speaker 2: in baseball one hundred percent anymore. Brandon Nimmo has a
- 14:00Speaker 2: very detailed pregame ritual that doesn't put him on the field,
- 14:06Speaker 2: and that's not caused any problems whatsoever. Corey has a
- 14:09Speaker 2: very detailed ritual that doesn't put him on the field.
- 14:12Speaker 2: The question that you have now is you're not going
- 14:14Speaker 2: to be out there and you don't take in field
- 14:15Speaker 2: ground balls and you're making some errors, and Corey has
- 14:18Speaker 2: made a few more errors this year. Should you be
- 14:21Speaker 2: out there taking more ground balls? But the Rangers are
- 14:23Speaker 2: paying him to hit, and whatever it takes to get
- 14:25Speaker 2: him to hit, that's what's most important. Just hasn't been healthy,
- 14:29Speaker 2: and it's a frustrat Just like you guys said, it's
- 14:33Speaker 2: a frustration for fans. I think it was a frustration
- 14:36Speaker 2: for It's certainly a frustration for Seeger, and I think
- 14:38Speaker 2: it's been a frustration maybe for some of his teammates.

- 15:43Speaker 4: All right, Evan, Where are the Rangers going right now?
- 15:46Speaker 4: Where are they going in the trade possibilities? There are
- 15:50Speaker 4: they a team? See why this is? Says quote when
- 15:53Speaker 4: we played together in twenty fifteen, I will never think
- 15:57Speaker 4: my team is out of it because I've lost too
- 15:59Speaker 4: many seasons by one game, so every game matters. And
- 16:03Speaker 4: I think he's kind of taken that into being a GM.
- 16:05Speaker 4: So what's there, What should be their outlook and what
- 16:09Speaker 4: do you think, based on cism their outlook for the
- 16:13Speaker 4: rest of the season.
- 16:15Speaker 2: He's looking for a reason to buy. He's looking for
- 16:17Speaker 2: a reason to help this team. I do think the
- 16:21Speaker 2: Rangers have to be realistic about some things in terms
- 16:24Speaker 2: of the fact that they don't have They have peeled
- 16:26Speaker 2: off a layer, maybe more than one layer of minor
- 16:29Speaker 2: league talent the last couple of years in pursuing trades
- 16:32Speaker 2: going back at twenty twenty three, so they are a
- 16:34Speaker 2: little bit thin on that front. I had him on
- 16:38Speaker 2: the Rangers The Morning News is Rangers podcast with John
- 16:41Speaker 2: Blake that we just taped this morning. It'll it'll drop
- 16:44Speaker 2: in a day or two. But we talked about whether
- 16:47Speaker 2: or not he thought he would get money from ownership
- 16:49Speaker 2: to add to the payroll if this team is in
- 16:53Speaker 2: position to go for it, and he said he was
- 16:55Speaker 2: confident based on the last few years, that Ray Davis
- 16:58Speaker 2: would add more money to the payroll. But I think
- 17:01Speaker 2: what's most important right now, Kratzy, is they've got to
- 17:06Speaker 2: play well. You know, they have been inconsistent. You guys
- 17:09Speaker 2: talked about the Blue Jays, and so much of what
- 17:11Speaker 2: you said about the blue Jays could also apply to
- 17:13Speaker 2: the Rangers. Rangers have played well on the road, they
- 17:16Speaker 2: haven't played well at home. They've played well against above
- 17:19Speaker 2: five hundred teams. They haven't played well against below five
- 17:21Speaker 2: hundred teams. They have been the You know, they have
- 17:25Speaker 2: exemplified inconsistency. And I think it is now time, with
- 17:29Speaker 2: three weeks with a favorable home schedule, for them to
- 17:32Speaker 2: give the ownership and baseball operations a reason to push forward.
- 17:36Speaker 2: And if they do, I think there are a couple
- 17:38Speaker 2: of needs that really stand out for me. One is
- 17:41Speaker 2: I think they need a high leverage arm, a right
- 17:43Speaker 2: handed high leverage arm in the bullpen. Jacob Blatz has
- 17:46Speaker 2: done remarkable work transforming himself into a closer, and a
- 17:50Speaker 2: more than four of three out closer at that, but
- 17:52Speaker 2: I think they're a little bit short on the right
- 17:54Speaker 2: handed leverage side. Jacob Junas is on the il right now.
- 18:00Speaker 2: He has had some trouble recovering sometimes when he's pitched
- 18:03Speaker 2: and not available on back to back days. Chris Martin
- 18:05Speaker 2: is healthy right now, but he also has to be
- 18:08Speaker 2: watched very carefully at the age of forty, so I
- 18:10Speaker 2: think the Rangers could use a right handed guy in
- 18:13Speaker 2: the seventh or eighth inning to get the ball to lads.
- 18:17Speaker 2: The other thing I think they could use is they
- 18:20Speaker 2: need some insurance in the outfield, particularly a right handed
- 18:22Speaker 2: bat who can play some center field. Evan Carter is
- 18:28Speaker 2: starting to heat up a little bit, but he's still
- 18:30Speaker 2: hitting under two hundred. He doesn't play against lefties. Their backup,
- 18:35Speaker 2: their fourth outfielder when everybody's healthy, is Alejandro Asuna. He's
- 18:39Speaker 2: a lefty. They need somebody who can play some center
- 18:41Speaker 2: field and hit from the right side, and who offers
- 18:44Speaker 2: them some more protection if you do have Carter's been
- 18:46Speaker 2: on the aisle once this year. He's been on the
- 18:48Speaker 2: aisle every year since twenty four. Whyat Langford is on
- 18:51Speaker 2: the aisle for the second time. He's been on the
- 18:54Speaker 2: injured list every year since twenty four. You need some
- 18:57Speaker 2: insurance out there, and I think that would be the
- 18:59Speaker 2: other real high priority for them.
- 19:03Speaker 1: We'd be remiss without asking about Skip Schumacher. How's he been?
- 19:07Speaker 1: How's he been his first year as Rangers manager? Has
- 19:09Speaker 1: he been everything that he's been advertised to be?
- 19:12Speaker 2: To me, he has? I mean, he's been willing to
- 19:15Speaker 2: adapt to the personnel he has. His messaging seems to
- 19:18Speaker 2: be really good. I think he's very honest with how
- 19:22Speaker 2: he addresses the media, and I think he, you know,
- 19:25Speaker 2: he's done a masterful job of trying to manage a
- 19:27Speaker 2: team that has not been healthy at all at all
- 19:30Speaker 2: this season. And so the fact that the Rangers, you know,
- 19:33Speaker 2: we talk about the Blue Jays and maybe there is
- 19:35Speaker 2: a World Series hangover, maybe not. I would think for me,
- 19:39Speaker 2: you get to the World Series and first time that
- 19:41Speaker 2: team has gotten to the World Series in thirty years,
- 19:43Speaker 2: you'd think that there's more motivation to get back rather
- 19:46Speaker 2: than the hangover of having won it all. But I can't.
- 19:49Speaker 2: I can't speak of the Blue Jays. All I know
- 19:51Speaker 2: is from the Rangers perspective that I think he has
- 19:54Speaker 2: done a really good job of managing less than a
- 19:56Speaker 2: full roster, and every day he has something that he
- 20:00Speaker 2: has to deal with. They've been creative in trying to
- 20:04Speaker 2: score runs when they've been without their biggest stats. I
- 20:07Speaker 2: think you know you've seen the im well. I give
- 20:10Speaker 2: all the credit to Jake Berger for his rebound. I
- 20:15Speaker 2: do think that Skip's relationship with him and the confidence
- 20:18Speaker 2: he has in him, I think that has certainly been
- 20:21Speaker 2: an asset. I think he has shown that in how
- 20:24Speaker 2: he's used Ezekield or in and not just had him
- 20:27Speaker 2: on the bench. And I think that goes with a
- 20:29Speaker 2: number of the bench players. And you guys know Skip
- 20:31Speaker 2: was a utility guy. He loves utility guys. He loves
- 20:34Speaker 2: guys that can step in and help when a team
- 20:37Speaker 2: is down. And so I think he's been a great
- 20:40Speaker 2: asset for this team this year. I just don't know
- 20:44Speaker 2: that he's been given the full deck to work with.
- 20:48Speaker 2: That's fair.
- 20:48Speaker 1: That's fair. Well, Skip is great. We all know that
- 20:51Speaker 1: right that Skip is great. We've had him on the show.
- 20:54Speaker 1: He's an awesome guy to talk to Evan before we
- 20:56Speaker 1: let you go. What's the best burger in Texas? You
- 20:59Speaker 1: just are and why did you say McDonald's.
- 21:02Speaker 2: I did not say McDonald's, and you know that, but
- 21:06Speaker 2: I just did. You just did another project with our
- 21:09Speaker 2: great food editor Sarah Blaskovitch where we tried to find
- 21:12Speaker 2: the best burger in Dallas. We ran we we had
- 21:17Speaker 2: fifteen on our final list, and we've got a lot
- 21:19Speaker 2: more that we'll probably have to update it with. But
- 21:21Speaker 2: it was an incredibly fun topic project to get into.
- 21:26Speaker 2: Three burgers for me that stand out in Dallas if
- 21:28Speaker 2: you've never been here too are sit down restaurants, neighborhood
- 21:31Speaker 2: services and goodwins. Just fantastic, well made burgers that everything
- 21:38Speaker 2: is fresh and everything just tastes like it was artfully constructed.
- 21:42Speaker 2: And then if you're not have you if you haven't
- 21:46Speaker 2: gone into the smash burger craze, you've got to go
- 21:50Speaker 2: to Burger Schmerger and have their smash burger.
- 21:53Speaker 3: Uh.
- 21:53Speaker 2: It is the entry drug to loving smash burgers. So
- 21:58Speaker 2: I'll leave it at that.
- 21:59Speaker 1: Great by the way, I'll be there in about two weeks, Evan,
- 22:02Speaker 1: so I'm expecting all the burgers laid out in the
- 22:05Speaker 1: booth like every one of them, including four US and
- 22:08Speaker 1: the Urbs. I just went the whole table when I
- 22:10Speaker 1: walk in to be Burgers and let me try them.
- 22:13Speaker 2: All you here for the Seattle series.
- 22:16Speaker 1: July twenty fifth. Is that Seattle? I think it is.
- 22:19Speaker 2: Yeah, that's Seattle. Okay, Yeah, we'll take carey. So just
- 22:24Speaker 2: about it's all about free stuff with you. You're learning.
- 22:28Speaker 1: You you're learning. See you're you're you're learning. It's not
- 22:32Speaker 1: that hard to make me happy.
- 22:33Speaker 2: Maybe I'll learn to get a chance to say hillo
- 22:36Speaker 2: to you in Philadelphia. I don't know if I'll be
- 22:38Speaker 2: allowed here, but we didn't even talk about Jacob Latz.
- 22:44Speaker 2: By the way, we.
- 22:46Speaker 1: Don't have Yeah. By the way, I'll have the Swiss
- 22:49Speaker 1: guard around me, so it might be tough for you
- 22:51Speaker 1: to get through them. I'm just saying. I'm just saying, Evan,
- 22:54Speaker 1: all right, emigrant, thank you Dallas Dallas Evening Post, uh,
- 22:58Speaker 1: Dallas Morning News, Morning News.
- 23:00Speaker 2: For Dallasnews dot com, whichever you prefer.
- 23:03Speaker 1: Thank you, Evan. We'll see you in a couple of weeks.
- 23:06Speaker 1: Enjoy the All Star Game. Make sure you don't say
- 23:07Speaker 1: hi to me in Philly. We'll be right back with
- 23:09Speaker 1: Mike Rizzo, another guy that kind of looks like Evan Grant. Sorry, Mike, I.
- 23:13Speaker 2: Don't do that to Mike. He's a good exactly you
- 23:17Speaker 4: Can say hi to me, Evan
