  So I enjoy video games. But as I got older and mature and technology has advanced,

  we have gyno through to poria i i think i'm saying it wrong if i am i'm not

  gonna edit this but you know what i'm saying we got a lot of good games have come out as developing,

  playstation 2 playstation 3 xbox 360 you know xbox one and so on and i'm one

  that i'm very specific on certain games that i enjoyed you know it used to be

  sports but then all sports games these days how can i say they don't make them

  as the same i'm you know i'm watching you madden i I got the two eyes.

  I'm watching you maddening.

  So I got to find something. And, you know, because of technology and the internet

  and because of the high-speed internet, you already know, we got the fiber optics.

  You know, we do a lot of gaming online. We do the first-person shooter.

  You know, I got my eyes on Call of Duty, but nah.

  Call of Duty, yeah, I ain't playing that game.

  I need a little bit of fixing. I am one that I'm OG for most of the SoCalm days.

  What a game so we got the socom shooter third person you know where i'm going

  with this so for some reason i feel like there are games i love you know i enjoy

  the gears the third person so on but sometimes there are games that i feel like i'm missing something,

  and then there are games that have hit the

  little spot and for some reason there's a

  game that i've enjoyed a couple years ago independent game

  that i for some reason i enjoy and and i'm

  gonna tell you why i'm saying that because it's gonna lead to arc raiders and

  i'll tell you about arc raiders as well because that's what the podcast is but

  i'm just giving you the little introduction walking in walking out to arc raiders

  generation zero so generation is a co-op game with robots And it has like,
• 5:29
  I'm not going to say it has,

  it is a 1980s kind of theme, kind of vibe, coming off the heels of Stranger
• 5:36
  Things and Stranger Things being as popular as is and as a finish as was,
• 5:42
  where it's a show you already know, but just to make a long story short on Stranger Things,
• 5:47
  It takes place in the 80s, and if you're an 80s baby, or at least you took a
• 5:53
  whiff throughout the 80s, you understand what I'm talking about.

  So Generation Zero is a co-op game. You can play by yourself.
• 5:59
  You can play with other people, and it has robots. They have looting,
• 6:03
  and they have shooting, and they have this.
• 6:07
  So it gives you a vibe, but it also gives you a 1980s vibe because I believe
• 6:11
  the game took place in the 80s somewhere in Norway, if I'm not mistaken.

  You know I wonder if Embark studio and

  that studio you know maybe because of the
• 6:20
  vicinity because Embark I believe is Sweden but I'm

  mistaken correct me if I'm wrong somewhere somewhere there

  fact that you know Generation Zero

  was giving me like a good vibe because you could play with other people teamwork

  is you versus the machine basically but then

  I felt like there was something lacking and then you try

  to kind of like get that sense kind of like the fall i i

  love the fallout series i fall out four i did

  fallout 76 fallout three fallout for

  las vegas you know i love exploring and all that i love that

  i love to be in a world that immersed me but once.

  Again with fallout 76 i feel like

  i was missing something and then here

  comes our greatest and i'm be the first

  one to say i'm not a person to download betas

  or anything to that effect no but the

  fact that arc raiders it took me

  a while so my thing is this and my story real quick when it

  comes to why i decided to start playing arc raiders and then i'll

  tell you my thoughts and we make it happen i started seeing people on you know

  that streaming online once arc raiders the full game came out having fun and
• 7:31
  i know a couple of my peoples a couple of my you know brothers out there they
• 7:34
  love they were communicating if there's one thing that I've played.
• 7:39
  Especially with the game SOCOM.
• 7:41
  For those Navy SEALS SOCOM.
• 7:43
  Multiplayer game. You know, you need communications. You need comms to be talking
• 7:47
  to your buddy like, yo, they there, yo, sniper, boom. You need all that good stuff.

  Arc Raiders is you and robots. So that's where the Generation Zero came in.

  It's a PvPV game, meaning that you're in a lobby,
• 8:02
  or a server with different people, different cats,
• 8:05
  you know, all over the place in the servers, you, robots
• 8:09
  looting but the fact that you know sometimes in
• 8:12
  our greatest you can get to shoot the other
• 8:15
  players as well non-teammates obviously and
• 8:18
  that's another topic but i just want to tell you that there's this
• 8:21
  nostalgic feeling about our
• 8:24
  greatest and i started to see the communication was like wow
• 8:27
  you really communicate even with people like strangers even in
• 8:30
  the same service what they call proxy chat
• 8:33
  where you have someone else a stranger someone that is not your teammate but
• 8:37
  not say server and if they're closer you can have a conversation you can help
• 8:41
  each other no shooting you already know Raiders you already know what you're
• 8:45
  talking about I'll be like that 95% of the time don't shoot I'm just trying
• 8:49
  to do something here but the fact that our Raiders,
• 8:53
  it brings the sense that there's always something going on and it gives you
• 8:57
  like five different maps if I'm not mistaken.

  And each time, it feels like you're playing a different game because it's something
• 9:04
  different. Now, the object you do looting, let's say, I'll give an example.

  I got this gun. This is weapon A. In order to make weapon A,
• 9:13
  weapon A1, weapon A2, I need to do, you know, some looting.
• 9:16
  Need to find this, random items, whatever it is.
• 9:20
  Crafting. I love crafting. In the Fallout series, I was a crafter.
• 9:24
  That I enjoy grabbing different parts of things, of recycling or whatever it
• 9:29
  is, doing my thing to make my weapon better.
• 9:32
  So next time around, I jump in and boom.
• 9:35
  But the fact that the aspect of communication, the way it feels,
• 9:39
  because you're fighting these robots, and I'll be honest, the game is crazy
• 9:42
  because the graphics of the game, and someone in YouTube said this,
• 9:47
  that the game, it feels like an experimental, psychological game.
• 9:52
  And it's true. I feel the same way. That's crazy because there's times I'm playing, right?
• 9:57
  You know, for those people who played Ark Raiders, you already know what I'm
• 10:01
  talking about. For those who haven't and they still thinking about it, do your thing.
• 10:05
  So I'm out there in the daylight. I got the sun and I see the sun rays and so on.
• 10:11
  Now that you got these robots with light and there are times where I'm running
• 10:16
  to, let's say, a building because I need to find something there.
• 10:19
  Or I'm gonna think that, hey, listen, let me see what Blue Aquifer,
• 10:24
  And you see those sunlights and they basically beaming and you'll be like,
• 10:27
  ah, that's the sun. The next thing you hear a robot like, I'm like, oh, my goodness.
• 10:32
  Or sometimes you look at the glare of the sun or whatnot in your screen on the
• 10:37
  top right or on the top left. And you think it's a robot and you just run.
• 10:41
  That's why I got my stamina up there. I got to run. But there's nobody there.
• 10:44
  You see how the psychological thing of how this game and the sound and the music and the robots.
• 10:50
  Sometimes you hear a robot like goon goon and i'm like okay this robot is mad close
• 10:57
  but then you look at the map the robot is mad fault but because of
• 11:00
  the sound it it messes up your mind and
• 11:03
  that's why i'm like you know what i think it's true i believe that there are
• 11:07
  people that sit down it's like a psychologist or it's like you know whatever
• 11:11
  sit down and says you know what uh let's mess around with people's mind and
• 11:16
  fear and sometimes you get that fear factor that you buy yourself in this building.
• 11:21
  And sometimes that's when you get the other Raiders. Don't shoot.
• 11:25
  I'm friendly. Who might start helping you. And it's that sense of community as well.

  The last time I felt like this sense of community with other players that were strangers.
• 11:37
  With Warframe, and Warframe, that's another beautiful game. But the fact that
• 11:41
  you get into this server by yourself, you're on a mission, you know what you
• 11:46
  need to do, you need to collect, you need to find.
• 11:48
  Listen, it's 50-50, you know, I'm looking for this light bulb that I need to
• 11:53
  complete some mission there.
• 11:54
  And I got two, and all I need is one. It's hard to find.
• 11:58
  I'm like, and if I find, and let's say if I don't extract, because it is to

  extract and shoot, if I did not mention that,
• 12:06
  oh then i'm gonna lose it unless you know there's a

  pocket but i'm just i don't i don't want to go in details details

  it was on little special even though the game is forty

  dollars it was on special you know christmas 32 decided

  you know what let me get it let me cop the game and boy

  i love it as an og who enjoys communications who
• 12:41
  enjoy community who don't mind not
• 12:45
  killing people but still be able to do something with other plays no funny stuff
• 12:50
  and help each other out new whatever it is and to give you that sense the other
• 12:57
  things too this game for some reason i don't know what it is if it's a script
• 13:01
  the The algorithm, the AI.
• 13:05
  This game creates moments that I'll be like, I can't make this up.
• 13:11
  And for those Raiders out there who have played this game, let me tell you this
• 13:15
  story. What happened to me? That's a lot of stuff that happened.
• 13:18
  So there's this extract, and there's this play that's down.
• 13:22
  Sadly, when you're down, you already know that you're crawling in the floor,
• 13:25
  and you're trying to press the button so you can crawl the elevator, so you can extract.
• 13:29
  Now, the player was down because he was shot by a robot.
• 13:33
  And I'm minding my own business. I'm, like, making moves, whatever it is.
• 13:37
  And I see that person crawling down, and I'm like, ah.
• 13:40
  Now, I don't have, and you already know what I'm talking about,
• 13:43
  what is it, re-fibrillator to revive the person? I don't have that.
• 13:48
  And I'm over here communicating with the player On the mic, push the talk Type
• 13:52
  of deal, like, hey, listen, bud I'm sorry, I can't help you,
• 13:55
  you know I'm almost running out of life, I opened the door I'm like,
• 13:58
  okay, I'm gonna open the door,
• 13:59
  But, you know, if you're running out of life And I'm over here I had that person's life in my hand,
• 14:06
  And if I knock you out, you're done. You're going to lose everything.
• 14:10
  And I say, if I find you lose, I'm good. But, you know, it's kind of sadly.
• 14:14
  And I was just like, damn, I'm sorry. I think I'm going to have to do that.
• 14:18
  Then the next thing I see two players come in. Because once you press that extract
• 14:22
  button, it makes it sound like, woo, woo.
• 14:25
  So it alerts other players that are looking to extract. So it'd be like, oh, okay, good.
• 14:31
  You know, the elevator is about to open and so on. And I'm about to be out.
• 14:36
  And, you know, what's interesting is that those two players come in and one
• 14:40
  says, oh, I got you, but let me know how's your health because I'm not going to try to lose this.
• 14:44
  And then I'm like, yeah, man. And I'm looking at this scene like,
• 14:47
  all right, it's in your hands. It's out of my hands. I have no responsibility for that player.
• 14:52
  And I see the other player and I'm thinking, oh, man, the other player is going to knock him down.
• 14:57
  It's going to kill him and take his loo. And I'm like in my mind,
• 14:59
  damn it, I should have done that. But the next thing, hey, he revived the player
• 15:03
  because he asked the player, do you have enough life?
• 15:05
  Because if you don't, then I'm just going to kill you. If you do,
• 15:08
  and then, yeah, yeah, I got to do it. And he revived. He's like,
• 15:11
  you know what? Whatever.
• 15:13
  And that was a wholesome moment. And those Raiders, they extracted. I continued playing.
• 15:18
  And it's funny because we were like, all right, good luck, Raiders.
• 15:20
  You know what? Appreciate you, Raiders.
• 15:22
  That sense and that moment of wholesomeness.
• 15:26
  It's something that this game,
• 15:29
  I don't even know if the game creates it forcibly or anything like that.
• 15:34
  It's just generally, it just comes very organic.

  And there are moments where I saw that when I'm extracting and I'm saying to
• 15:43
  myself, you know, like, there's a robot coming.
• 15:47
  And the next thing, I kid you not, there was like three other people that jumped
• 15:51
  in the elevator. And you're like, oh, thank you.
• 15:54
  Thank you, sir. You know, some English language, you know, you could tell they were not Americans.

  Oh, let's just say maybe they play in another country. But it was just truly
• 16:03
  wholesome things like this that makes art creators so much fun,
• 16:08
  so addictive, so organically pure.

  And again, the way that this game functions is that it hit those things that
• 16:17
  if you an OG like me, who enjoys the comms and who enjoys that, you know what?

  Let me do something productive without being
• 16:26
  sweaty or playing with sweaty players unless you start killing plays
• 16:29
  they'll put you in the lobby with other sweaty plays that
• 16:32
  they love killing or if you just like me that 95
• 16:35
  of the time i'm just want to loot grab stuff and build
• 16:40
  myself to it and whatever it is that i got to do
• 16:42
  but just the fact that that this art creator games
• 16:45
  bring those vibes it hit those buttons it
• 16:49
  hits it sometimes you might say well you know let's just say I find 100 fans
• 16:53
  because there's a mission you need to find 100 fans you're like don't you think
• 16:57
  that's tedious the fact is that you might not find 100 fans each time that you

  play and the fact that maybe one out of every five maps that you play you find
• 17:06
  like two fans I'm just giving a sample,
• 17:09
  but just to get those two fans is like a an adventure in itself you gotta love it.

  That's what makes the game more different because you just don't go to a place
• 17:17
  to say, oh, I'm going to farm for this and I'm going to find it.

  Go back to the same thing. That's, you know, Warframe. I know it kind of suffers
• 17:25
  from that, but that's fine. I get it.

  That's part of farming. But the farming here is a little bit different.

  There are spots that you can find certain things that you can farm. And I love farming.

  And for those, you know, you already know that farming is a thing where you
• 17:38
  need certain things or you're looking for something and you just go to the same
• 17:42
  spot over and over and over to find until you find it. Right.

  And this game you could do farming but again there's
• 17:49
  no guarantee that if you are looking for 100 fans
• 17:52
  that each time that you play you're gonna find 100 fans now
• 17:54
  you know might sound crazy but it could be like those light bulbs i need three
• 17:58
  light bulbs and i played a game too i put in work for a week and a half i put
• 18:03
  in work i only find two light bulbs and the event's about to be over you know
• 18:07
  what i'm talking about that event one with the candles whatever it is but You
• 18:11
  got to love ArcGRAD. ArcGRAD is very different.

  I'm going to say that it's definitely not for everybody.

  But those people who have not played the game out there, take a crack at it.

  You know what I'm saying?

  Take a crack at it because you might find something there that you might like.

  And I hope, I hope, I hope maybe that the powers that be in Embark,

  or maybe I don't know if it's Microsoft or whoever, you know,

  Do either a free weekend soon or something where you download it and you try it.

  I mean, I prefer, I think, the weekend, free weekend to try it out because,

  you know, you'll get more plays.

  For those people who are kind of not into the extraction, you'd be surprised.

  Definitely very surprised.

  It exceeded my expectations. I said, like, I could one day give it an eight.

  There's one day give it an eight and a half.

  The fact that when you succeed at extracting is the fun stuff that makes you keep going.

  I ain't gonna lie. There's a couple of times where I die.

  I lost all my loot, even some good loopings you already know.

  Big robots, you know, the leaper, the hooper, the whatever it is.
• 19:22
  The one with one eye, the one with lasers, all that. And I got discouraged. I'm like, you know what?

  And it's not discouraged that I don't like the game. It was just like,

  damn, it gets emotional.

  And when you get your burst, your bubble burst, trying to extract with something
• 19:40
  good, Lou, and then you just get, you know, it deflates you. It breaks your heart.

  You'll be like, you know, and then you lock on like an hour later.
