- 0:00It's time to lay down our weapons.
- 0:01Listen, even. It's time to lay down.
- 0:13Hey Gaspers, welcome back to GASP the Pod, the podcast for
- 0:19the gays, the girls, and especially the gay girls.
- 0:22This week we're talking about what all the bisexuals and all
- 0:25the sapphics and all the lesbians are talking about and
- 0:28fighting over. Thought I would bring on one of
- 0:31my really good friends from college, fellow sapphic and huge
- 0:34Fletcher fan, because I felt like she's the source and what
- 0:38we need. We needed her today.
- 0:40I brought props also. OK, hold on.
- 0:42I'm gonna pull. Props.
- 0:44My sign Fletcher, OH. My God.
- 0:47She. Is a super fan we needed I
- 0:50needed someone from the Fletcher community to give me like their
- 0:54two cents anyways, as we all know it's pride.
- 0:57What does that mean the bisexuals the lesbians are
- 0:59fighting yet again literally on day 2 of pride as if to increase
- 1:03the tensions even more and Fletcher saw us all arguing on
- 1:06the Internet. She was like let me drop just a
- 1:10perfect song for this moment. And in a really brave, brave
- 1:14thing, she released a song called Boy.
- 1:17She actually came out, I put that in quotes as having a
- 1:21boyfriend much the aghast of love lesbians and everyone
- 1:24around the world. Also her song was accompanied
- 1:26with boy merch and just kind of like what's it called?
- 1:29Put salt in the wound. Honestly, that was it for me
- 1:32when I saw the boy merch. Lesbians have called out
- 1:35Fletcher for her trad wife marketing and poorly timed
- 1:38announcement during Pride. Bisexuals are calling out
- 1:40lesbians for their reaction saying a lot of this reaction is
- 1:45biphobic. Today we are going to discuss
- 1:49all of this. Give our two cents, give our
- 1:52opinions on it. Yeah, that's why I brought Lexi
- 1:55need to talk about it also. Like she had to just come in the
- 1:58pod at some point. Like, like inevitable.
- 2:01Literally, I'm so excited to be here.
- 2:04I. Feel like we're equally online
- 2:06as well. Oh, chronically online.
- 2:09I've heard every take. I'm very excited to just share
- 2:11my opinions. I am the number one Fletcher fan
- 2:16and I still might. I don't.
- 2:17OK, controversial. I still might be after this, I'm
- 2:20gonna be honest. But we're gonna and I.
- 2:22Understand. But here's the thing.
- 2:24I understand. I've read everything and I
- 2:26understand, but I'm we're gonna go back and forth.
- 2:29I'm excited to have a productive discussion 'cause.
- 2:31I is it gonna be productive? Tell me how you got into
- 2:35Fletcher. Yeah, absolutely.
- 2:38So COVID was a dark time for everyone, as we know, and I was
- 2:43just going through a really hard time and I actually saw.
- 2:49Figuring out your sexuality. And may I just add that was like
- 2:52the time that me and Lexi got like really close was like when
- 2:55college was ending and I felt like, and I won't, you know, put
- 3:00any specific details in here, but you definitely were like
- 3:05testing the waters with your questions.
- 3:07Like I could tell, yes, that you were trying to figure out if you
- 3:11were gay in some way. Yeah, no, absolutely.
- 3:15Perfect time to start listening to Fletcher.
- 3:17Perfect time. Literally kismet.
- 3:19So I saw a TikTok of hers and I was like, oh, it was like a duet
- 3:25of a TikTok. And this song bitter was and I
- 3:27was like, wait, this is good. And I was like going through it
- 3:30and I was like, wait, this is eating?
- 3:31And it kind of like I kind of relate to the lyrics a little
- 3:34bit because I'm feeling bitter. And so I just like went down a
- 3:37TikTok rabbit hole as everybody does.
- 3:38Like I listened to one song. Then I listened to her EP and I
- 3:42was like, I just really like the music and like the lyrics really
- 3:46resonated with me at the time. And I just became like,
- 3:50obsessed. Like I was watching music
- 3:51videos, like I just really latched on.
- 3:55And then once like COVID was like a little bit like we were
- 3:59able to like gather in groups. I like went to two of her
- 4:01concerts and I actually like have made so many friends
- 4:06through Fletcher randomly. Like I like would go to the
- 4:08concerts by myself randomly because like if my friends
- 4:11didn't want to go, I was like, I'm going by myself, 'cause I
- 4:12love her music. That's.
- 4:13So impressive, like I've always been so impressed.
- 4:16You can just like go to concerts by yourself.
- 4:18Sometimes, like I go to concerts and I don't want to talk to
- 4:20anybody, but with Fletcher I was like, I was just so excited to
- 4:23be there. And I've actually like made like
- 4:25lifelong friends that I still talk to all the time.
- 4:27How many shows do you think you've?
- 4:29Been there. Wait, wait, wait, wait.
- 4:30It's I think I've been to 9 total.
- 4:32That's a pretty significant amount.
- 4:34Yes, yes. Is there a Fletcher?
- 4:37Fanbase name Yes, we are the Fletch fam.
- 4:41Fletch, Fam. I feel like.
- 4:43The Fletchys. The Fletchy I know.
- 4:45Well, now we might be the Carey Colts or.
- 4:48Something wait really it's that OK, wait pin so important to
- 4:54have you on because the things that I don't know.
- 4:57I got it. Yeah, I don't even think, I
- 4:59said, but welcome to the pod. Thank you.
- 5:02I'm excited to be here. I just want to say some

- 5:44you get a shout out. So shout out to Patreon member
- 5:47Ren. Thank you so much for listening,
- 5:50and yeah, happy pride, Lexi, since I've seen you, I feel like
- 5:54I've so many little things have like come up in my life.
- 5:57Like, I don't know if Mercury's in retrograde or something, but
- 6:01I told you about how my car got towed.
- 6:04My car got towed yesterday. Homophobic.
- 6:07It's homophobic. I am so bad at misplacing
- 6:10things. I came home from the store and I
- 6:14was going to throw away some trash in the trash chute of my
- 6:16apartment building. I have the car keys.
- 6:18Remember of the car that was just towed yesterday?
- 6:21What happened? I had accidentally thrown my car
- 6:24keys down the trash chute. Wait, Oh my God.
- 6:27Wait. What do they do?
- 6:29What do you? Do on my apartment building and
- 6:31I literally had a freak out alone.
- 6:33I panicked. How did I just do that like how
- 6:35did I even just do that like I threw it away with my trash down
- 6:38the trash shoot. How am I gonna get another key?
- 6:40I can't tell Sophia because, like I we I just had our car
- 6:44towed yesterday like I can't have something wrong again.
- 6:47So I went down the front desk and me and four other people
- 6:50went through the trash. Like this huge trash thing.
- 6:53Yes, this happened an hour ago girl in the basement of my
- 6:58apartment building and I fucking found it.
- 7:01Oh my God, I can't believe you found it.
- 7:03I'm. Shocked that I found it.
- 7:05I literally was like starting to pray to God for the first time.
- 7:08While Saint Anthony, literally. Was like, thank you Saint
- 7:10Anthony, like. Classic Haley story.
- 7:13I'm glad you found them because something is in the air,
- 7:15something is not right. What is going on, you know?
- 7:18I think it's pride in Trump's America.
- 7:21No, and that was never supposed to happen.
- 7:23That wasn't something that should be happening.
- 7:26It's just everything's amiss. That's why all of the queer
- 7:30celebrities have lost their minds this month.
- 7:33Dude, OK, And now great segue. We can get it.
- 7:37I do think that that's a reason why a lot of people are more
- 7:40upset about a lot of we need to call it something.
- 7:44I know that it was like the lesbian apocalypse like 2 years
- 7:46ago. Maybe we need to bring back
- 7:48lesbian apocalypse. Boy gay like.
- 7:50Billy, it's Clairo. JoJo Siwa.
- 7:54And I know it's not all the same because like, not all of them
- 7:57identified as lesbians. They're not necessarily like,
- 8:00coming out as straight. We are losing lesbian
- 8:03representation. Yeah, and it's hard because I
- 8:07see both sides of it, like they're obviously so valid, but
- 8:11it's hard when it was like such a big moment and then now it's
- 8:16not that moment anymore. And it just feels like they're
- 8:18maybe not as open about being queer because of the current
- 8:22climate we're in. And it just like it just feels
- 8:24stifling, even if it's not necessarily what exactly is
- 8:28happening. It's just the context just makes
- 8:30it. Yeah, right.
- 8:32And it's like, yes, I and no, I guess, like specifically with
- 8:35Fletcher, that this is Fletcher's personal journey.
- 8:39Yeah. But she has to realize that
- 8:42like, she's she was only one of the few, like, singer
- 8:45songwriters that, I don't know, people associated with, like,
- 8:49lesbianism. Yes.
- 8:51And was only in that in the Sapphic world, like, not in the
- 8:54same way that, like Miley Cyrus, like everyone knows is like,
- 8:57queer, bisexual. But yeah, like, she was like,
- 9:00even if she wasn't a lesbian, has never identified as a
- 9:03lesbian, she still was associated like as a lesbian.
- 9:07And when you were unveiling that you're dating a guy and she knew
- 9:11it was, it's going to be an interesting thing to announce to
- 9:15people. Think about your marketing.
- 9:17I don't know. You know, I know it's hard
- 9:20because on the one hand, it's obviously like bad timing.
- 9:24I feel like announcing like that you're dating a man during Pride
- 9:28month is like, she knew it was going to be bad.
- 9:31That's the thing. She knew it was going to be bad.
- 9:33Some people are like, she should have released it in a different
- 9:35month. I feel like she would have
- 9:37gotten the same backlash no matter what month it was, to be
- 9:40honest. People would be upset and just
- 9:42critique her for dating a man, you know, having a sapphic
- 9:45audience, like, you know. And she's never said she's a
- 9:48lesbian, right? And like, I think her real fans,
- 9:51like, not Well, yeah, her real fans like the people who like,
- 9:53care about her, I think that they know that they're not.
- 9:57You think so? Did you like know that she
- 10:00wasn't like necessarily like a lesbian?
- 10:02So this. Is good context.
- 10:03So in a interview that she did with a magazine, it might have
- 10:07been like Gay Times or Them. She is like, has this quote of
- 10:11how she's always felt queer and that a specific label has not
- 10:15defined her and that she feels much like broader and bigger
- 10:18than to be defined by any label in her sexuality.
- 10:21And she got a lot of critique and hate for that.
- 10:24People were ripping her apart. Yeah.
- 10:27And like it was a smaller conversation because I think it
- 10:30was more kind of like internal discussion that my other thing
- 10:34too is I think that everyone is like always gonna like critique
- 10:38Fletcher. Like a lot of people just
- 10:39straight up don't like her. And you know what?
- 10:41Like if that's your MO, like that's fine.
- 10:44So all that's to say is I think that like, she knows that she's
- 10:48going to get critiqued. But was Pride Month the best
- 10:51month to do it? Maybe not.
- 10:52But also like, I don't know, like obviously bisexuals and
- 10:56pansexuals and queer people still belong at Pride.
- 11:00So I like see both sides of it. I'm like, OK, well, she's
- 11:03obviously still queer and like it's still Pride month for her
- 11:06too. But it's also like the song was
- 11:08so male centric. Yes.
- 11:13Totally. OK, So a few things you said
- 11:15there. First of all, I had no idea that
- 11:17she did that interview. And like, I remember people
- 11:20pointing out that like, she had maybe written a song about a
- 11:23guy. Or did you tell me that?
- 11:25Interesting like in her songs she has like 2 or 3 songs and I
- 11:29could probably like regurgitate the lyrics where she talks about
- 11:33formerly falling in love with guys.
- 11:35So like girl of my dreams, she opens it with with like there
- 11:38was a boy who had the greenest eyes.
- 11:41I think is the lyrics. She another song where she's
- 11:44talking about like I've broken girls hearts and boys hearts
- 11:47too. So but it's none of her like big
- 11:49singles or songs that are really popular.
- 11:51So she's like referenced men before, but like in her past.
- 11:55So I feel like in my head, I was, I was like, kind of biased
- 11:59too. I was like, oh, she's like, just
- 12:00gay. And like her writing about those
- 12:02men. Like in her past, it wasn't just
- 12:04her being, like, heteronormative or hadn't realized she's gay
- 12:07yet. Like, I think that she really
- 12:08does look at this equally. And I think for me and a lot of
- 12:10other fans too, it was like, no, she's really bisexual,
- 12:13pansexual, queer, however you want to label it.
- 12:15And like, yeah. But.
- 12:17You know, it's just hard. It's hard because people assume
- 12:20it is. Hard.
- 12:21And I feel like I didn't think that she was necessarily a
- 12:23lesbian, but I guess I just didn't think that dating men was
- 12:27ever on her horizon. Like, yeah.
- 12:29And like, maybe she didn't choose it because like in the
- 12:32lyrics it says like, oh, like, should we read the lyrics of boy
- 12:35I don't. Know if I could read the lyrics
- 12:39like I I'm gonna make the and I love so much I tried to.
- 12:44Play the song for Sophia and she literally wouldn't listen to it,
- 12:48not 'cause she was like, oh, whatever, but she was just like,
- 12:50it's so bad. Like it's like his lips were
- 12:53soft. Oh, I his lips were soft.
- 12:55I had no choice. Girl, you sound like me writing
- 12:59a song in 6th grade. Yeah, that's the other hard
- 13:03truth that I don't want to contribute to like her negative
- 13:07and and I'm not hating, but it's not her Best Song.
- 13:10It's not her most well written song and she's not known for
- 13:13like her song. I've seen a lot of discourse
- 13:18about like her other songs that are more tongue in cheek.
- 13:21They're they use kind of Internet language of like flame
- 13:24emoji. Wow.
- 13:25It like that kind of stuff where it's like fun and silly because
- 13:30the song isn't necessarily serious.
- 13:31Like all of her songs are fun or toxic or like.
- 13:34Right in. This song, she's still trying to
- 13:38use that social media language, but the song is supposed to be
- 13:41serious and vulnerable and it just, it doesn't really strike
- 13:45the right tone. That's.
- 13:47Such a good point because like when she uses those lyrics like
- 13:51like the lyric in boy, is it called boy or is it called the
- 13:54boy? No.
- 13:55It's called boy. It's called Boy Girl.
- 13:57I mean that's the issue. It's like if she had released a
- 13:59song during Pride Being and like, the whole thing was like,
- 14:04I kiss girls, I kiss guys. I'm still gay, happy Pride.
- 14:07Like, no one would care. OK, That's not true.
- 14:10I'm sure there were still people that would care.
- 14:12I wouldn't care. Yeah.
- 14:14And it's like. I kissed a boy.
- 14:16It's like the whole thing is about, boy, I don't care what
- 14:19your identity is, I don't want to hear about a street man
- 14:21during pride. And I'm like, I don't even want
- 14:24to. Like the flame emoji wow thing I
- 14:27thought was always a little cringy, but it was OK because
- 14:29the song was so fucking fire and Becky's so hot.
- 14:32The I know it wasn't on your bingo card saying in like a soft
- 14:36way. I was just like, Oh my God,
- 14:39yeah, it. It didn't, it didn't resonate as
- 14:42well and it wasn't. And I completely agree about the
- 14:46song being so male centric. And I think I've seen a lot of
- 14:49that conversation online too, exactly what you said of like if
- 14:52it was more about her attraction to both men and women and
- 14:56whoever else. Like it's just all about the
- 14:59guy. Very like male centric kind of
- 15:02like what it's just like. So yeah.
- 15:05And then another thing too that I always think about is like, is
- 15:09this all just payback for Becky so hot?
- 15:11Like, is she just like I'm so like, I just, I can't with her.
- 15:16I don't know, like, I love her so much, but she stirs up this
- 15:21controversy and she. Absolutely does, and it's.
- 15:24A part of her marketing and it's like, I don't know, I think
- 15:27we're all getting kind of tired. I don't know.
- 15:29I don't want to see her like getting hated online, but it's
- 15:32like, girl, this is what you want, I guess.
- 15:34I don't know it's. So weird too, because her
- 15:39attitude during Becky's So Hot and like during her tweets and
- 15:42everything was like standing firm with what she was doing.
- 15:45And honestly, even though it was like kind of toxic behaviour,
- 15:48what she was doing with Becky's So Hot and we talked about this,
- 15:51at the time, I didn't really feel like it was that
- 15:53problematic. But obviously it was in order to
- 15:56stir up drama because it's something that I would do.
- 16:00Of course, of course, like. Write a song about like my ex's
- 16:03new girlfriend or something. Like I feel like I would do
- 16:05that. She was just like leaning into
- 16:07it and like she obviously wanted the drama, but it's weird that
- 16:10now she knew that this was going to cause drama.
- 16:14But her reaction is not like, no, I'm going to stand firm on
- 16:17this. It's kind of like, if you I hope
- 16:19you guys still like me. And it's like the reason why
- 16:24that's frustrating is because she's not really doing something
- 16:28that outside of this very specific community would be
- 16:33considered groundbreaking, right?
- 16:36Right, you're completely right of how her persona used to be
- 16:39like unapologetic and like a little like fierce.
- 16:43I don't know what's like, I want to say bitchy.
- 16:45I don't know if I could call someone else bitchy, but it
- 16:48means. Some energy.
- 16:50Yes, me and fem, like I don't give a fuck and you're going to
- 16:54deal with it. And I think that like it's so
- 16:57interesting. I think a lot of people
- 16:58obviously are critiquing that like being in a heteronormative
- 17:02relationship is like not a big deal.
- 17:05But it is hard because I think that she does know that her fans
- 17:09are going to be pissed and like everyone's going to be upset.
- 17:12And I do like empathize with her in the way of she knew what the
- 17:17reaction was going to be and everyone is kind of proving her
- 17:19point. It's also hard because she is
- 17:21taking such like a a sad. What is that like just sad and
- 17:26like. So it's like difficult because I
- 17:29think that two things can be true at once, like if another.
- 17:33Fletcher song. Sorry, had to say yeah.
- 17:35Yeah, I feel like she absolutely knew that she was going to get
- 17:39hate. And I feel bad that, like, you
- 17:43know, she has to lose fans like, based on who she's dating
- 17:46because I don't think, like, who she's dating is the problem.
- 17:49However, like, if she was my friend, I would be like, EW, why
- 17:53are you dating a man? So.
- 17:55So I think like, she's getting backlash.
- 17:57She's also getting like, really mean backlash.
- 18:01The question is, I mean, we can get into this like, a little bit
- 18:03later. What is biphobic and what is
- 18:07just hate? Yeah, yeah.
- 18:11Well, and we are the. Ones to solve it we.
- 18:13Me and you, we're going to solve it right here, right now.
- 18:15Time. Call the human rights.
- 18:18Yeah, no. Send give us a call, we'll go
- 18:20through the comment and we'll decide is that biphopic or not?
- 18:23And what we say is law, actually.
- 18:25So I we've never been wrong, ever.
- 18:28I actually have correct opinions about everything.
- 18:30Absolutely. Name a time.
- 18:33I can't. I personally can't.
- 18:34No. I was just gonna say I think
- 18:36that the only. I feel like it's a little
- 18:39biphobic for all of us. I don't know.
- 18:42Maybe. I don't know.
- 18:43I don't know. OK, OK, here's the thing.
- 18:46Is it kind of biphobic just to assume that Fletcher is just
- 18:50going to date women? I don't know, Like, do you know
- 18:52what I mean? It's like, if we're just going
- 18:54to, because in the same way that it's biphobic of like assuming
- 18:57that someone's only going to date a man, like, I don't know.
- 19:00I just feel like we're women. We have to wrestle with the fact
- 19:03that we just all assumed something.
- 19:06And then Fletcher kind of subverted that expectation.
- 19:09And I feel like a lot of this is like internal disappointment.
- 19:13And it's not. I'm like, is it Fletcher's
- 19:16fault? The marketing maybe her fault,
- 19:19but you know what I mean? What do you think I mean?
- 19:21OK. So I did find out this news
- 19:24before she dropped it and inside sources.
- 19:28I do think that my reaction was like, oh, that's so
- 19:34disappointing that like I can't really relate to her music
- 19:37anymore. But I wasn't really like mad at
- 19:40her, if that makes sense. But I was more like I just felt
- 19:43a little bit more removed. Like I didn't feel like I was
- 19:45like, hey, as focused on like her and what she was doing.
- 19:49And now I'm like annoyed and like, I wouldn't say angry at
- 19:53the marketing. It's hard to think about like
- 19:55what the response would be if she just like posted her
- 20:00boyfriend like on her Instagram and then like released like a
- 20:02pride song, you know what I mean?
- 20:04But I see what your point is. I do think that there's a level
- 20:06of like just assuming that she was a lesbian because she's
- 20:09like. In a sapphic space like.
- 20:12If she like like did a tell all interview or like, you know,
- 20:16worked with like, I don't know, some like publication.
- 20:20Yeah. And like, I just wonder if she
- 20:22like launched her boyfriend in a different, softer way and didn't
- 20:25make the whole song and album release about it.
- 20:28Like, I feel like it wouldn't be as big of a deal.
- 20:31But the the song is really where I like I can.
- 20:35I like the music. I like need to face the music,
- 20:37like literally and figuratively. I'm like, I can't get, I passed
- 20:41that because I just don't enjoy the song and it I feel very
- 20:43removed, you know? Yeah.
- 20:45It's like clouding my judgement like genuinely like I'm kind of
- 20:48forgetting who she is. Like if she was wearing like a
- 20:51hot outfit and like post it genuinely, if she released a
- 20:55great album that was like she can mention him, I don't care.
- 20:59But it's like good music and it's not like soft baking bread,
- 21:03whatever. And then like released an
- 21:04Instagram and she's wearing like a normal outfit that she would
- 21:07wear and like she looks hot like behind the stage, like kissing a
- 21:11guy or something. I genuinely don't think I would
- 21:14be as pissed. Yeah, exactly that would seem.
- 21:17Like something she would do. Like it just feels like she's
- 21:19like not who she is. And maybe we can go into the
- 21:22cult allegations. Wait.
- 21:24Let's get into this because all compounded by the carry of it
- 21:29all the like the song almost sounds country her.
- 21:34She's in a field. It is such a tone shift from why
- 21:37I love Fletcher. I love her being unapologetic
- 21:40and a little messy and a little dramatic, right.
- 21:43And none of this is that. And so I'm just like, on top of
- 21:46her dating a man, which is, you know, fine, all good love
- 21:49bisexuals. But then this whole tone shift,
- 21:52like what? I just, that's where I'm like,
- 21:55is the album even gonna be good now?
- 21:58OK, that she's dating this guy, that she's, it's like this soft
- 22:02love. Yeah, and I and I can see, I
- 22:05actually genuinely don't think she went into it with like super
- 22:09bad intent, but I also think she knew that there was going to be
- 22:13some drama. And I bet her marketing team was
- 22:15like, let's just send it, don't shy away from it.
- 22:19Just like make it your whole new thing.
- 22:21Lean into it song. That's boy merch, that's boy bam
- 22:26bam bam. And like, I think she felt like
- 22:27she had to do this whole rebrand in order to like make sense of
- 22:30it, but. The B.
- 22:32Brand is what's the really the problem?
- 22:35Yes. I completely agree with you, she
- 22:38did not mean to have bad intentions but it is hard.
- 22:42The compounding of everything, the boy, the heteronormativeness
- 22:46of the relationship, the soft girl era, her name, her being
- 22:51Carrie instead of Fletcher and then kind of the the outfit her
- 22:55out in nature. It just feels like a 180 from
- 22:58literally this. Like great.
- 23:01Yeah, I think this could have been the same album cover with
- 23:04her dating a man. Yep.
- 23:06And she could have put, she could have put a boy boy on this
- 23:08album because it it like, you know, I just don't.
- 23:11Yeah. Honestly, genuinely, if she
- 23:13should have called me boy on that it would have been almost
- 23:16OK is. It my favorite Fletcher song.
- 23:19No. Even said like she had her own
- 23:21questions when she fell in love with this guy.
- 23:23But then have you heard that maybe that this isn't her first
- 23:26boyfriend? Have you heard that?
- 23:27Yeah. Let's talk about that.
- 23:30The theory is that the first guy was like this band member guy
- 23:35from some band. I looked him up.
- 23:37He's not cute enough for Fletcher to be dating him.
- 23:39And honestly, and I'm I'm not even gonna shy away from this.
- 23:43I don't want anyone to date a man.
- 23:45And I think it's just more like for me, man hating behavior.
- 23:51The second guy is like a finance guy, OK?
- 23:55Apparently he's the CEO of Liquid Ivy.
- 23:58I like this is not confirmed. I'm really just I'm very like
- 24:02good for her to get that back. I don't know.
- 24:04I just don't know. I.
- 24:06Also hate that there was a man out there and not just one, two
- 24:09that felt like, oh, I can get, I can get it.
- 24:13I can get her. Yeah.
- 24:15Yeah. Changing her because she's
- 24:16queer, but just like, why do you think that she would?
- 24:20Oh, I hate that. Did you?
- 24:23See so the first guy is named Jaguar Twin, I think is his
- 24:27name. OK yes.
- 24:29So he was going to open for her on her Australian leg of her
- 24:33tour because I think he's Australian 1 + 1.
- 24:36So he was associated with a like yoga spiritual group that some
- 24:44would compared to a cult. I don't know much about this.
- 24:51Yes. So this organization, a
- 24:54spiritual organization that does like lots of yoga practices and
- 24:58things they had like mis sexual misconduct allegations when he
- 25:05was her opener on tour, everyone was like up in arms like why is
- 25:09this guy that's associated with this organization that does not
- 25:12respect women? Like why are you even
- 25:14entertaining that? So he was then removed as her
- 25:18tour opener. Then everyone found out that
- 25:21Carrie Fletcher is also on that cult website, right?
- 25:26So, but then and then she was like, I think that she like
- 25:29removed herself and she kind of explained like I think what kind
- 25:32of happened was like, I don't think she fully realized like
- 25:35what that organization was. And I think she took like a
- 25:37entry level yoga class or like did like went to like a workshop
- 25:41or something. And then they kind of attached
- 25:43her name to the organization. This is all like speculation.
- 25:46Obviously, I don't know the truth, but I that's what I feel
- 25:50probably happened is that she didn't really know what she was
- 25:52getting herself into then. Now everyone is kind of piercing
- 25:58together that maybe Jaguar twin and her like dated or they were
- 26:02probably in a situationship or something.
- 26:04Because. And this is all backed up
- 26:06because on his Twitter he released like a demo of a song
- 26:10that was like, hope you find your antidote.
- 26:12And that's obviously the name of her most recent album in search
- 26:15of the antidote, which is crazy. And I'm like, like, did she lead
- 26:23him on? Or maybe they were in a
- 26:25relationship? Or maybe he felt like maybe she
- 26:28didn't want him? I don't know.
- 26:29I could weave stories and stories, but it's right.
- 26:32And maybe she was like, I can't be associated with this cult
- 26:35anymore. So he was.
- 26:37Promoting it on social media. And I think he had perhaps like
- 26:41a smaller position in the organization.
- 26:44I think him being associated in any way with that organization
- 26:47was like, you know, enough to, yeah, problematic.
- 26:51So I've also heard conversations that some people are worried
- 26:55that she still might be associated with that
- 26:57organization, but I don't really know if that's true.
- 27:00But I think just with this whole context of everything going on
- 27:04of like Carrie, the natural, it just it's all kind of giving
- 27:07that same like yeah, full healing like vibe and you're.
- 27:12Like running through the fields and you are suddenly Carrie and
- 27:18you're like, this is like, would you still love me if you knew
- 27:20who I really was? Like, this is more like who she
- 27:22really is. And she unveils the boyfriend.
- 27:26It's just like, from a fan's perspective, you know, you're
- 27:29seeing a lot of change. And even if it's not actually
- 27:32change, it like is outward marketing change of her persona?
- 27:38Yes, I have so many thoughts about this.
- 27:41So Carrie Fletcher is her name OK?
- 27:43And she is always talked about in her interview since her debut
- 27:47album, before the debut album, she's always talked about how
- 27:52Fletcher is kind of her Sasha Fierce, her stage persona,
- 27:56right? And how she kind of like, cuz
- 27:58Fletcher in real life is very like more like soft spoken, very
- 28:02chill. And you would know.
- 28:05Lexi spent a whole day with Fletcher when you met up with
- 28:09her. Was this before or after she was
- 28:11dating a guy based on the timeline we know now?
- 28:14It was before when I've met Fletcher in meet and greets and
- 28:18other things, she's like very shy, very reserved.
- 28:22Like she's not super outgoing or crazy.
- 28:25So she's always associated Fletcher as this like bigger
- 28:29than life persona that she puts on and embodies when she's on
- 28:32stage. Then as her career has evolved
- 28:35and progressed, she's always talked about the reconciliation
- 28:39between Carrie and Fletcher and how she is trying to find
- 28:42balance between them. And I think that as she's gotten
- 28:46older and evolved and gone through life, like I think that
- 28:49she almost was trying to blend Carrie and Fletcher.
- 28:53And that's what she talked about in In Search of the Antidote is
- 28:55how she wants to find the balance of Carrie, Carrie and
- 28:58Fletcher. Now I'm a little bit worried
- 29:01because she's like, no, it's all Carrie and me and I feel like
- 29:06maybe the spin is like she wants to, you know, reveal the like
- 29:09more softer side of herself. But again, with the context of
- 29:13boy, it's just concerning. Even if this is like true,
- 29:18nothing to do with being, you know, in this relationship or
- 29:21being associated with XY and Z. It's still like, it's all just
- 29:25bad timing and we haven't heard the album.
- 29:27So maybe it is still like some Fletcher and there's some
- 29:30craziness, some dramatics, but this is it's just poor timing
- 29:34because she has been talking about this, but I don't think
- 29:36many, like, people have been paying as deep of attention as I
- 29:40have. And her fans have, you know?
- 29:41So yeah. Totally.
- 29:43OK, that's very good insight. Because right.
- 29:46Like even if she is still trying to figure out the balance
- 29:49between the two from a fans perspective, it's like Fletcher
- 29:53was abandoned. Yes, is now Carrie.
- 29:58And but as much as she's been queer this entire time and has
- 30:01never identified as a lesbian, like even though, you know,
- 30:06maybe we shouldn't assume that everyone who's like been dating
- 30:09women for a long time is a lesbian.
- 30:11She is associated and referred to as a lesbian.
- 30:16She has to know that that was happening.
- 30:18And now Fletcher, the persona has now been associated with,
- 30:22like, lesbian, whether or not that's like, her fault.
- 30:25And now Carrie is the one that dates boys, like, and even
- 30:30though she's like been queer the entire time, it's just now
- 30:34that's kind of the album we're like, sitting with, you know?
- 30:37Yeah, absolutely. And it's hard.
- 30:40It's hard because this new lead single for her next album isn't
- 30:44gonna resonate with the majority of her audience, right?
- 30:47Yeah. It genuinely feels like I work
- 30:51in marketing. It just feels like a bad
- 30:53marketing move. Like, why are you gonna give a
- 30:54product to your audience that does not resonate with?
- 30:58It's not gonna enjoy. But that's the thing, She
- 31:00doesn't. She.
- 31:01Doesn't owe her fans like it. It's like this has been a whole
- 31:04other back and forth. What does she owe her fans?
- 31:07Her fans like, you know, what are they entitled to know?
- 31:10Like, right, they're not entitled to know everything.
- 31:13Or I don't know, is is Fletcher in service of her fans?
- 31:16Or I mean, she really, because she kind of really just did this
- 31:18for herself, right? And like, right, like.
- 31:20Yes, like, you can do this for yourself, but also just be aware
- 31:23that, like, you're probably gonna lose people that won't
- 31:25resonate with your music anymore.
- 31:27Hi, Leslie. Hi.
- 31:28Sophia, she just came back from work.
- 31:31This is kind of the conversation me and my friends who are fans
- 31:34of Fletcher I've been having is like, can she even recover from
- 31:37this? It's going to be, I think it's
- 31:39going to be more challenging than her other controversies,
- 31:42totally. Is it a marketing move in order
- 31:45to just find a whole new group of fans?
- 31:48I think she's going to lose a lot of fans.
- 31:50And I think a lot of the people that she's losing aren't
- 31:52necessarily being like, oh, fuck you, but maybe just like can't
- 31:59relate. Because like, from my
- 32:00perspective, I wouldn't never say like, oh, I'm a Fletcher
- 32:03fan. Like, I've listened to a lot of
- 32:05her songs, but I'm not like, seeking out her music, you know?
- 32:10And so I feel a lot of the reason why I was listening to it
- 32:12is because it was like, Sapphic. And will I be inclined to listen
- 32:16to her? Probably not, because the whole
- 32:17reason I was listening to her is because she was like, talking
- 32:20about women in her songs. Yeah.
- 32:22It's going to be really interesting, and I'm interested
- 32:24to see what the album consists of.
- 32:26The other thing is that the album comes out in July, So why
- 32:32did she feel the need to release it during Pride?
- 32:35It's obviously on purpose and obviously she's queer.
- 32:39She can only say anything on pride.
- 32:40But like, I don't know, it's just like even when you are by
- 32:44and dating a man during pride, is that the focus of your pride?
- 32:49The man? It's fine, but like maybe your
- 32:54sapphic listeners like won't. I don't see that being a good
- 32:58marketing decision. It's.
- 32:59Just hard because the whole thing is heteronormative, even
- 33:04if she herself is queer. And I just struggle with like,
- 33:07she obviously still has a place at Pride and like and she's able
- 33:10to do whatever she wants. It's just, it was weird.
- 33:13It was just weird timing, weird, weird timing.
- 33:16I. Understand the merch was like
- 33:18donated. Wait, what are you going to say?
- 33:20That the merch has is all donated to Trans Life, which is
- 33:23good, but I'm not buying it. No.
- 33:26Why would I buy that? I'm sorry, I'm sorry.
- 33:30Like I would buy it. Like like it's not even like her
- 33:32face is on it. It's just boy.
- 33:35And so it's like yes, like it's not even like it's like queer
- 33:38proud. Like that's you're releasing
- 33:40stuff during Pride that doesn't feel pride focused or about her
- 33:44identity. Boy, it's just boy.
- 33:47It's like literally so bad camp I can't even explain it.
- 33:51But like a shirt with boy on it when you're pitching it to a
- 33:55mostly sapphic lesbian fan base, it's not going to go over well.
- 34:00And not because people are like fuck you, but it's more like
- 34:03what? What?
- 34:04I know I agree. I Fletcher's merch has can have
- 34:08some improvements, I will say, and not just this era, every era
- 34:11I'm like some of it we could have hit harder.
- 34:13Even if the donations do go to Trans Life Organization, like
- 34:16obviously that's amazing, but I think it was the least she could
- 34:19do after this whole controversy. It is the.
- 34:23Least that she can do branding of boy, it's soft girl, but it's
- 34:28also trad wife baking bread vibes.
- 34:32And that's like, and not even that she's that she would be a
- 34:36trad wife, but that's just the aesthetic that look we're seeing
- 34:39coming around and like as a recession indicator.
- 34:43And like with just like the culture getting so conservative,
- 34:46like even influencers are like, Oh my God, something that like
- 34:49you want to lean into and it's like triad wife, like even the
- 34:51ones you don't even think would like give that.
- 34:54It's like all soft girl country getting more modest and
- 34:57conservative. And I understand that probably
- 35:01wasn't her intention to give off trap wife.
- 35:03Hopefully I don't think it was. But it's like you have to think
- 35:07about how something's going to come off in the current culture,
- 35:10even though it was your personal decision.
- 35:12And same thing with the JoJo Siwa and less kind of with the
- 35:15Billie Eilish and Clara, because they didn't really do any
- 35:17marketing or like fucking anything around that or like any
- 35:20press or anything. But same thing with like JoJo
- 35:23Siwa saying like, Oh, sexuality is fluid.
- 35:25You have to be careful about what you say because, like,
- 35:28unfortunately, there are only so many, like, queer celebrities.
- 35:32There's crazy conservatives being like Oh my God, look, a
- 35:34man can turn Fletcher straight. Yeah, it's just so interesting
- 35:39that parallels like with JoJo, because she wants to go by
- 35:44Joelle. It's very similar to Carrie and
- 35:47Fletcher. Keep your.
- 35:50Name, keep your name and be queer and keep your stage name.
- 35:56Like I don't get like why you're a soft girl because you're
- 35:59fucking a man. Yeah, have you seen that thing
- 36:03on TikTok of girls are wearing like milk maid dresses in the
- 36:06club and the shorts, the skirts are getting long.
- 36:09Exactly. I don't know how to explain it,
- 36:12but it's like this fashion thing that's changing, too.
- 36:16Yeah, Yeah. And it's like soft girl
- 36:18feminine, like, lean into your feminine energy and oh, you're
- 36:22like, submissive, like, let him like lead you.
- 36:24And that's not something Fletcher's pushing, but like in
- 36:27intentionally. What would have been so Fletcher
- 36:29is if she was, like, saying a song about having a boyfriend
- 36:32then being like, I top him or some fucking shit.
- 36:36Like, I don't know, like, oh, like I peg like, yeah, like, I
- 36:40feel like that sounds like something Fletcher would do and
- 36:42everyone be like, OK for like, I don't know, like, no, no.
- 36:46No, no, no, I agree. But The thing is it's like I she
- 36:49wants to lean into this Carrie side of her, which isn't like
- 36:53that. I guess we don't know.
- 36:55I guess we're going to find out. But I'm also just like, that's
- 36:57not the Fletcher that we have known and how she grew her fan
- 37:02base. And I feel like the music is
- 37:05going to totally shift as well. I'm nervous, I'm nervous, I'm
- 37:10nervous. It's very weird.
- 37:12The opposite of folklore it got. In the wait, is that what she's
- 37:17doing? Is she trying to like, have her
- 37:19folklore? I think.
- 37:20She's trying to have a folklore moment, but here's the thing,
- 37:22you have to have good lyrics. And the reason why folklore is
- 37:27good is because he was so fucking gay too.
- 37:30So it was like the opposite, like Taylor Swift, like suddenly
- 37:32like getting more gay and folklore is like the opposite of
- 37:37Carrie Fletcher getting straighter and more actually.
- 37:42I never thought about it being her folklore, but that's what
- 37:46exactly what it's maybe giving is like she wants to have this
- 37:49vibe shift. She wants to unlock this new
- 37:51audience with this new music. But I just it feels a little
- 37:56early. I feel like she could still
- 37:58continue to establish herself, but I don't know.
- 38:01But here's the thing, right? Right.
- 38:02She hasn't like fully gotten to. I think she needed one more
- 38:05album of being like Fletcher. Yeah.
- 38:08And also just don't align that with your boy drop.
- 38:13Yeah, yeah, it's, it's like, here's the thing, all of the
- 38:17aesthetic, the vibe ship, everything could have been fine.
- 38:19But it's also coinciding with this boy era that is making it a
- 38:25little bit more uncomfortable. It's hard because she's a
- 38:28person, but it's also her job and her business.
- 38:31But people aren't like, marketable products.
- 38:34But it's, I'm trying to go back and forth on like, my, like,
- 38:37capitalistic, like marketing view.
- 38:39And then it's like, no, she's a human being with experiences,
- 38:42right. So it's like, who are we to say
- 38:44that she can't, you know? Yeah.
- 38:46Produce art about her own experiences, even if it's not
- 38:49what we want to hear or what she formerly was.
- 38:51I don't know. It's hard.
- 38:52I I grapple with both sides of it.
- 38:54Yeah. I think that's so fair.
- 38:55I think like she can release whatever she wants and it just
- 39:00may not work out to be the best thing for your brand and
- 39:05business. Yes, exactly, exactly.
- 39:08And that's OK. And maybe she's fine with that.
- 39:09Honestly, she's so that. Maybe she's cancelling herself.
- 39:14Like the level of fame that some artists want to have, Like I
- 39:18think Chapel Rhone, I don't think she expected to be as
- 39:21popular as she is. And then I think an artist like
- 39:25Renee Rapp maybe wants to be bigger and it's still kind of
- 39:28growing on that journey. And then like Fletcher, I would
- 39:32say is on par or maybe not as popular as Renee Rapp, but I I
- 39:37just like and I just wonder like what goes through these greatest
- 39:40heads? Like do they want to be mega
- 39:42stars and ultra famous? Do they just want to be gay,
- 39:45famous and just, you know, make money and read the good?
- 39:48Point. You know, like Fletcher is kind
- 39:51of the same thing with Renee. Maybe she's using this to
- 39:53catapult her into like, mainstream pop music.
- 39:57Maybe, and that's what I'm wondering, I'm like, is she
- 39:59going to find a new audience that because her music is more
- 40:03from the mass appeal, like will she maybe find a new audience?
- 40:07I was just thinking. About Sabrina Carpenter and like
- 40:09releasing a man child and like how almost opposite it is.
- 40:13I hate you men, you're dumb and I blame your mom and like she
- 40:17says that and we're all like yes, like it's just pretty funny
- 40:22that like of all celebrities, she's and she's like technically
- 40:25straight. She's appearing the most man
- 40:28hating pardon people survive the bangers era today.
- 40:33No, no, they would never. They would never survive the
- 40:37Today. They wouldn't.
- 40:39Be able to handle it OK. That's the other thing too.
- 40:41It's like, is this just going to be another controversy that we
- 40:44talked about for two weeks and then Fletcher's going to release
- 40:46the album and then like the fans are going to come out and be
- 40:50like, guys, it's not that bad. Like that's what I also wonder
- 40:53is if like if this is a flash in the pan or is this like a
- 40:56permanent stain on her reputation, right?
- 41:00I feel like we won't we won't know until yeah, the album comes
- 41:04out. OK, let's talk about the
- 41:06different POV's, what we think. I think that there's very good
- 41:11points on both sides. Bisexuals are such a huge and
- 41:15like queer people, queer people that aren't like firmly I am gay
- 41:19or I'm a lesbian. There's so many ways to be
- 41:23bisexual. And so I feel like when we talk
- 41:26about bisexuals as a monolith and bisexuals is like only
- 41:29dating men, like we almost need to like narrow it down when
- 41:32we're talking about certain people.
- 41:33There are a lot of bisexuals. A lot.
- 41:35I think this is coming from like the lesbian point of view that
- 41:38are like not fully ingrained in like queer spaces, which it's
- 41:43like, maybe you're just talking about baby gays.
- 41:45Like when we talk about bisexuals, you can't just say
- 41:48bisexuals are like gay light. And like, that's totally
- 41:51biphobia that we're seeing like on the Internet.
- 41:53And I think that there is something to be said for people
- 41:58recognizing their, I don't know, privilege when you're in a
- 42:02relationship. That's what the opposite sex,
- 42:06right? It's hard.
- 42:09It's hard and it's like there can, I think like there can be
- 42:12valid criticism from both acts. Yeah, like, you're obviously
- 42:16still bisexual, but you'd be remiss not to, like, understand
- 42:21that you still, like, if you're in a heteronormative
- 42:23relationship, like, you don't have to be worried about, you
- 42:27know, harassment on the street or people treating you
- 42:29differently. And I feel like Fletcher's kind
- 42:32of point of view with this song doesn't really acknowledge that.
- 42:37Not that it has to, but it's it's interesting that she's kind
- 42:41of not acknowledging any sort of privilege that she has.
- 42:44She's very worried about the fan reaction, which is also
- 42:47obviously valid, but this is. Like the same lesbian point of
- 42:50view. And when I say like lesbian
- 42:51point of view and bisexual point of view doesn't mean like it is
- 42:54the point of view, but just like the overwhelming Internet
- 42:58opinions from largely this identity, yeah.
- 43:03Absolutely, yeah. And so it's like the lesbian
- 43:05point of view is like this self pitying of her song being like,
- 43:10I'm so scared to tell you guys this.
- 43:13Right. And it's, I don't think she was
- 43:15actually saying this is the same experience as like, dating a
- 43:18woman. And like, I am facing the same
- 43:21experience. But I can see that that feels
- 43:24like a quitting coming out as dating a guy is like, the same
- 43:28thing as, like coming out as dating a girl.
- 43:30Yeah. It's very, yeah, it's not, it's
- 43:32obviously not the same thing, but maybe to her fanbase it, it
- 43:36feels like that it's the same nerves, it's the same
- 43:39anticipating a reaction. But it is hard cuz she's kind of
- 43:43looking at it at this like micro level of like her fanbase and
- 43:46their reaction. But it's like, OK, when you pull
- 43:48back at the macro lens, it's like, obviously you know you're
- 43:53going to be fine in Northern California and regular society.
- 43:56So. Yeah, yeah.
- 43:58When you zoom in, in your very specific experience, Fletcher,
- 44:04this is going to have backlash like, and she's scared to do
- 44:10something. But that is not necessarily the
- 44:12same fear. If you're like most people,
- 44:16aren't pop stars trying to tell their fans something.
- 44:20And I think that a lot of like lesbians and gay people almost
- 44:24feel like just offended that she would even equate like a
- 44:28heteronormative relationship to like a coming out or like that
- 44:31kind of same fear. Even if that is Fletcher's
- 44:34experience. I think that it almost feels
- 44:36insensitive to the, like the weight of LGBTQ people in
- 44:40America right now, right? It's like feels a little just
- 44:45all color like not really aware of her like eco political,
- 44:51social. It's.
- 44:53Just like, is this really the time to?
- 44:55Yeah. Right, like the very crazy time
- 45:00in politics right now. Like, what are most vulnerable
- 45:02members? Is it Fletcher telling her fans
- 45:04that she's dating a boy? She can still speak and she
- 45:08feelings. But like when I was not dating a
- 45:13girl, like I couldn't even imagine how different it would
- 45:17feel. Like it's just completely
- 45:20different. The experience of like dating a
- 45:23girl and not dating a girl or like being in like an outward
- 45:27gay relationship, like you, it's just not even close to the same
- 45:32thing. And so like the privileges are
- 45:34very different. So I feel like a lot of the
- 45:36times that discourse is like missed online or not given
- 45:40enough credit. And not everything is biphobia
- 45:43when it's like honestly valid criticism of like people
- 45:46recognizing their privilege. And I would say that to like
- 45:49someone who's like them passing like both me.
- 45:52And we're not going to get harassed on the street because
- 45:54we don't look gay. No.
- 45:56And that doesn't mean we're not gay.
- 45:58But yeah. But it's like, obviously there's
- 46:00a privilege in that and it's and I and it's like, can Fletcher
- 46:03say all of that in a song? No, that's.
- 46:06That's true. Right, but and she's trying in
- 46:09interviews, right, She well, I mean, I'm reading the bottoms of
- 46:12the articles, right, Not everyone is, but you know, she's
- 46:17trying to direct like she has said that she goes, obviously my
- 46:20love life is not the biggest point of conversation right now.
- 46:23Trans lives are at stake, like we need to be advocating and
- 46:25protecting them. And she's trying to get the at
- 46:28that in the press. It's just hard because not
- 46:30everybody's going to take the time to do that deep dive on her
- 46:34and this great. Song isn't good.
- 46:37What? I say it's her best, no.
- 46:41You can say that, right? Feel.
- 46:45Bad I heard that not not my favorite Fletcher song.
- 46:48I love her so much. I love all of her other songs.
- 46:52Don't say it. It's very underrated.
- 46:54I. Love that song.
- 46:55I was. In Atlanta at her last tour and
- 46:57she was trying to get everybody to jump and I was the only one
- 47:00in the crowd. I was like, hey.
- 47:02You're probably towering over people because you're like 6
- 47:05feet tall, yes. I'm 6 feet tall and anyway it's
- 47:10just not my favorite song. I want to hear more.
- 47:12I want to know what this country folklore esque vibe is.
- 47:16And here's the thing, aren't pop celebrities artists?
- 47:20Aren't they allowed to have a flop album?
- 47:23Are they allowed? I think.
- 47:24They're allowed is. This going to be her like Casey
- 47:26Musgrave star crossed like where it's like the fans are like is
- 47:30it going to be her Joanne where it's not the fan favorite?
- 47:37Comparing Joanne to Kacey Musgraves star crossed is crazy.
- 47:44Here's the. Thing I don't think Taylor Swift
- 47:46has one of those. Some people would say love her,
- 47:48but that's my favorite album so I was.
- 47:49Just going to say I feel like people would say love her but
- 47:52her version of a flop is not a flop.
- 47:55Anyway, so maybe this is just Fletcher's Blop era.
- 47:59I don't wanna say it, I don't wanna say it, but maybe it is.
- 48:02Maybe it's just an era that we're just gonna move past.
- 48:04I'm hoping that Never. Mind we forgot, we just erase.
- 48:08The narrative, honestly. I think she's never gonna
- 48:10recover. With some people.
- 48:11I agree. I mean.
- 48:13Some people, they didn't want to like, listen to her, entertain
- 48:17her after Becky's so hot. Like a lot of people were like,
- 48:20Becky was wronged, like it, this is awful.
- 48:23Fletcher is so awful for doing this.
- 48:25I don't respect her. This was like, you know,
- 48:28tasteless, etcetera, etcetera. Some people didn't want to be
- 48:31her friends. Other people critiqued her and
- 48:33still kept going to the shows and supporting her.
- 48:35And I think that this might be one of those make or break
- 48:37points for some people. And then if this doesn't
- 48:40resonate, will she go back to a more Fletcher, badass,
- 48:42unapologetic persona to try to kind of garner that audience and
- 48:46lean back into Yeah. That's interesting.
- 48:48I feel like though, the people that were criticizing her for
- 48:51the back, he's so hot. We're still lesbians though.
- 48:53Yeah. And I feel like just cuz it's
- 48:55like a different type of flop this feels.
- 48:59Really more alienate not it's not alienating, but a lot of her
- 49:04fans are just straight up not gonna be entertained by or enjoy
- 49:07it. I was sorry.
- 49:09Another thing I was doing some research, this song it's like it
- 49:12is not doing well on Spotify. It has like barely any listens.
- 49:16Like all of her other songs even from her most recent album have
- 49:19millions of streams and boys has not Boy sorry hasn't even hit a
- 49:24million streams. It only has no.
- 49:26Way it hasn't hit a million streams, no.
- 49:29And all her other songs have hit like, and obviously they've been
- 49:31out longer, but like, it's I'm like girl.
- 49:34Because that's actually. Crazy, yeah.
- 49:38And I'm like, girl, the, the few people that we're tuned in,
- 49:42like, I don't know if anyone's listening to boy on repeat, you
- 49:45know what I mean? I they're listening.
- 49:46To it once, I guess I would, I honestly would have thought it
- 49:49would be a little bit higher because people would like listen
- 49:52just to like hear what all the thoughts was about.
- 49:55But I guess everyone's like, there's no need.
- 49:58It's also. Just like for it to come at this
- 50:00time, right after JoJo Siwa, literally at the peak of
- 50:06Internet bisexuals, lesbians sparring at each other.
- 50:11He's just like, she just threw a bomb and then like ran away.
- 50:15I do think that the bisexuals and the lesbians need to just go
- 50:20to the same bar, make out with each other, be friends with each
- 50:24other. Most of the fighting is
- 50:26definitely online. Yes, there's valid biphobia,
- 50:30but. But let's all stop fighting and
- 50:32start kissing. Let's all stop.
- 50:34Fighting. Let's start kissing and also,
- 50:38who are we focused on most during Pride?
- 50:41Trans people and people that like look visibly queer and are
- 50:43being targeted like on the street.
- 50:45It's. Time to lay down our weapons.
- 50:46Listen, even it's. Time to lay down our weapons
- 50:49Lay. Down our weapon and let's all
- 50:52just come together. We still have some time in June
- 50:55we can work on, we can work through this.
- 50:56So I think we need it through it.
- 50:59We, we can and we need to fight the real enemy, which is, I
- 51:02don't know who the real enemy is.
- 51:04Trump. Trump, obviously.
- 51:07Obviously the real enemy. Who's the real enemy, Fletch?
- 51:11I'm just gonna feel like, OK, I feel like we solved every issue.
- 51:17And I think if anyone's wondering if something's
- 51:20biphobic and like what the right answer is on something, just
- 51:22come to this video. Yeah, I think so, yeah.
- 51:26OK, well thanks so much for joining the pod, Lexi.
- 51:30We had to make this happen. If Fletcher does anything else,
- 51:32we might have to bring you back on so we can discuss the album
- 51:35drop. Yes.
- 51:36I'm, I'm ready to come back for Fletcher.
- 51:38I'm ready to talk about Gaylor. I'm ready, yes.
- 51:41That we can. Talk about so have me back
- 51:43whenever, OK? Well thanks everyone for
