- Lucas: Welcome back to Learn Malay with Fexingo. I'm Lucas. Luna: And I'm Luna. Episode 142. Can you believe it? Lucas: I know. And we've got a fun little topic today. We've already covered yellow and green in our last episode. Luna: Right, kuning and hijau. I still remember those. Lucas: Great. Today we're adding two more colours to your palette: biru and putih. Luna: Biru and putih. That's blue and white, right? Lucas: Exactly. Let's start with biru. Say it with me: biru. Luna: Biru. Lucas: Good. Biru means blue. Now, a common thing that's blue — the sky. Langit biru. Luna: Langit biru. Blue sky. Lucas: Yes. So if you look up and see a clear sky, you can say 'Langit biru'. Luna: Langit biru. I like that. It's simple. Lucas: Now let's move to putih. Say it: putih. Luna: Putih. Lucas: Perfect. Putih is white. For example, a white shirt — baju putih. Luna: Baju putih. White shirt. Lucas: Right. So if you're wearing a white shirt, you can say 'Saya pakai baju putih'. Luna: Saya pakai baju putih. That means 'I wear a white shirt'. Lucas: Exactly. Good connection. Now, let's practice both colours together. Luna: Okay. So langit biru — blue sky. And baju putih — white shirt. Lucas: Yes. Now, you know how we always keep things ad-free here at Fexingo? Luna: Yeah, I love that. No annoying ads interrupting our learning. Lucas: If Fexingo has been helping you make progress with your Malay, and you like that we don't run ads, you can support that choice. Luna: Absolutely. It's a small way to keep the show going. Lucas: The link is simple: buy me a coffee dot com slash fexingo. All lower case. Luna: Cool. Anyway, back to colours. Lucas: Right. So let's do a quick drill. I'll say a colour in English, you say it in Malay. Luna: Okay, hit me. Lucas: Blue. Luna: Biru. Lucas: White. Luna: Putih. Lucas: Great. Now, let's combine them with nouns. Sky. Luna: Langit biru. Lucas: Shirt. Luna: Baju putih. Lucas: Excellent. Now, let's make a sentence. 'The sky is blue.' In Malay, we say 'Langit biru.' No 'is' needed. Luna: Langit biru. That's easy. Lucas: And 'The shirt is white.' — 'Baju putih.' Luna: Baju putih. Lucas: Perfect. Now, think of something blue you see around you. Luna: Hmm. My water bottle is blue. So, botol air biru. Lucas: Exactly. Botol air biru. Blue water bottle. Good example. Luna: And my phone case is white. Sarung telefon putih. Lucas: Sarung telefon putih. White phone case. You're getting it. Luna: This is fun. I can describe things around me now. Lucas: That's the goal. Let's do a little review. What's blue? Luna: Biru. Lucas: White? Luna: Putih. Lucas: Blue sky? Luna: Langit biru. Lucas: White shirt? Luna: Baju putih. Lucas: Perfect. You've got it. Now, try saying 'I have a blue pen.' Luna: Saya ada pen biru. Lucas: Yes. And 'I have a white bag.' Luna: Saya ada beg putih. Lucas: Great. See how you can use these colours right away. Luna: Yeah, I feel like I can start describing things. Lucas: That's the idea. Keep practicing with objects around you. Look at something and say its colour in Malay. Luna: Like my notebook — buku nota biru. Lucas: Exactly. And my coffee mug — cawan putih. Luna: Cawan putih. White cup. I'll remember that. Lucas: Alright, that's it for today. You now know biru and putih. Luna: And you can use them to describe things around you. Lucas: Practice these until we meet again. Jumpa lagi. Luna: Jumpa lagi. Bye!
