- 0:33Speaker 1: Zarbonicki here. Happy Friday, everyone. Game day eve for the
- 0:40Speaker 1: North Dakota Fighting Hawks. We talked about them yesterday in
- 0:45Speaker 1: our preview episode. Today, I am going to do a
- 0:49Speaker 1: little fun game here. There's going to be nine squares,
- 0:54Speaker 1: a bingo card, with 20 possible points. I know these
- 0:59Speaker 1: are not like random prop bets. These are squares that
- 1:03Speaker 1: are tied to something that I think that we need
- 1:05Speaker 1: to prove and continue to do as we head into
- 1:09Speaker 1: Big Ten play. So picture a 3x3 bingo card here.
- 1:13Speaker 1: Our criteria here, there's going to be either 2 or
- 1:19Speaker 1: 3 points for each card. Some are a little more worthy,
- 1:22Speaker 1: I think, just to get to the 20 points. And
- 1:25Speaker 1: the way we're going to, I guess, evaluate or measure
- 1:27Speaker 1: this is... If we have 0-6 points, something definitely went
- 1:35Speaker 1: wrong in the game. 7-11, we probably won, but there's
- 1:40Speaker 1: a lot of questions, and we took a step back
- 1:43Speaker 1: here so far through the first three games. 12-15, pretty good, solid.
- 1:51Speaker 1: Nothing to get super excited about, but we're satisfied. 16-19,
- 1:56Speaker 1: we're ready for Big Ten play. Conference ready, and then
- 2:00Speaker 1: If we hit everything and we go 20 for 20, well,
- 2:03Speaker 1: we're probably winning the national title. Square one, top left
- 2:09Speaker 1: corner here. Anthony Calandria hits three total touchdowns. Not necessarily
- 2:19Speaker 1: meaning all passing or running, just three total. Just means
- 2:24Speaker 1: that he's still being Anthony Calandria. And yeah, I guess
- 2:28Speaker 1: touchdowns should come from wherever and we could run all
- 2:31Speaker 1: of them in if we all get to the one
- 2:32Speaker 1: yard line. But I think this factors into maybe a
- 2:34Speaker 1: couple of explosive plays. Just continuing what Anthony Calandria has
- 2:38Speaker 1: done through the first two games. This has worked two points.
- 2:44Speaker 1: And if Calandria stays efficient and we finish drives off
- 2:47Speaker 1: the way we have been, this should be a very
- 2:48Speaker 1: easy square to knock off. Square number two, we go
- 2:52Speaker 1: top middle. 200 rushing yards. North Dakota's defended the rush
- 2:58Speaker 1: extremely well, not allowing averaging over 100 yards, giving up
- 3:02Speaker 1: against their opponents. I think with this starting offensive line
- 3:07Speaker 1: and the way that things have gone, we should be
- 3:09Speaker 1: able to hit this one as well. This is also
- 3:10Speaker 1: worth two points. Again, this is not like a miracle
- 3:16Speaker 1: if we hit a lot of these. It's just things
- 3:18Speaker 1: that I think that we should do. And if these
- 3:20Speaker 1: things happen, we should feel pretty good about where we're sitting.
- 3:23Speaker 1: So 200 rushing yards total. Against the Fighting Hawks. Against
- 3:30Speaker 1: a team that has defended the run well. Against their opponents.
- 3:33Speaker 1: Worth two points. Square three. And this is probably the
- 3:38Speaker 1: hardest one. That we can do. And given North Dakota's offense.
- 3:43Speaker 1: I think it's doable. But it's going to be tough.
- 3:48Speaker 1: Hold North Dakota under five yards per play. They've shown
- 3:54Speaker 1: some explosiveness. We talked about. Jerry Kaminsky, their quarterback, being
- 3:57Speaker 1: a very solid and potential NFL prospect. Well, let's see
- 4:01Speaker 1: if this defense can take a step forwards again this
- 4:04Speaker 1: week and play structurally sound football and not allowing any
- 4:10Speaker 1: busted explosive plays. That's what's obviously going to raise this
- 4:14Speaker 1: average here per play. Obviously, they could put together a
- 4:17Speaker 1: couple of drives, but if you keep them under five
- 4:19Speaker 1: yards per play, this is worth three points, a bigger
- 4:22Speaker 1: one here. So... Square four, moving to the second row.
- 4:30Speaker 1: Kind of a boring square, but it's one that I
- 4:33Speaker 1: think must happen. And again, if we do everything well,
- 4:36Speaker 1: we should get it. Win the turnover margin. One that's
- 4:39Speaker 1: talked about a lot in the Matt Rule era. It's
- 4:42Speaker 1: gotten a lot better in the Matt Rule era. We
- 4:45Speaker 1: are more talented than North Dakota, we think. And we
- 4:48Speaker 1: should be able to, one, not turn it over, but
- 4:51Speaker 1: then force at least one turnover. Even if we win 1-0.
- 4:55Speaker 1: You know, you get two points there. All right, the
- 4:59Speaker 1: free square right in the middle. The free square is
- 5:06Speaker 1: Dak does not watch every snap because he's not a
- 5:08Speaker 1: true fan or because he's drank way too much alcohol
- 5:12Speaker 1: or because he's going to leave the tailgate. So basically,
- 5:15Speaker 1: Dak doesn't watch every snap. That's a given. We know that.
- 5:18Speaker 1: Free square knocked off. It's not worth any points. Just
- 5:21Speaker 1: cross it off now because we know he's not going to.
- 5:24Speaker 1: Score six, worth two points. Young player scores a touchdown.
- 5:32Speaker 1: And yes, this running back room is probably going to
- 5:35Speaker 1: be able to cross this one off, you would think,
- 5:38Speaker 1: because they are all technically freshmen or sophomores. So I'm
- 5:44Speaker 1: not going to, I guess, get too detailed on this one.
- 5:46Speaker 1: This one should hit two points. Running back scores are
- 5:50Speaker 1: probably going to cross it off. But young player, freshman
- 5:52Speaker 1: or sophomore, that's the criteria here. You score, you get
- 5:58Speaker 1: two points. Square seven, bottom left corner. Another defense one.
- 6:05Speaker 1: Either three sacks or seven tackles for loss. Can the
- 6:11Speaker 1: front seven manufacture some pressure, some disruption against North Dakota?
- 6:19Speaker 1: We've seen some of it. I don't think we've been
- 6:21Speaker 1: overly impressed by it. If we see this, this is
- 6:25Speaker 1: a three-pointer. If we see this, I think we're going
- 6:27Speaker 1: to feel pretty good going into Michigan State next week.
- 6:30Speaker 1: If we don't, I think it's one not necessarily to
- 6:34Speaker 1: be overly disappointed in, but just something to continue to
- 6:38Speaker 1: watch for Square 7. Square 8 to go into special
- 6:43Speaker 1: teams here. Can we not allow North Dakota to have
- 6:48Speaker 1: a kickoff return? past the 35-yard line. Langama scored a
- 6:54Speaker 1: touchdown last week, a 99-yarder. Got another one that, if
- 6:59Speaker 1: our coverage, or if we kick it through the end zone,
- 7:02Speaker 1: I mean, either way, but not letting them get good
- 7:04Speaker 1: starting field position. Another small special teams thing that when
- 7:09Speaker 1: you add a lot of these things up, they make
- 7:10Speaker 1: a difference. Another three-pointer here. And then nine, this would
- 7:17Speaker 1: be a big one, and I think if the game
- 7:19Speaker 1: goes with the spread and, and our backup quarterback, TJ
- 7:24Speaker 1: Latif lead to touchdown drive. This requires the starters not
- 7:28Speaker 1: to be in on our last drive. And similar to
- 7:32Speaker 1: last week, I, like I said, if, if, if all
- 7:35Speaker 1: 20 of these hit or even 16 to 19, we are, we're, we're,
- 7:39Speaker 1: we're feeling really good. I, I don't, I mean, I
- 7:42Speaker 1: think I'm expecting out of these 20 points that I
- 7:45Speaker 1: just made, you know, 10 to 12, right. But, If
- 7:49Speaker 1: TJ Lateef can get in, give us a touchdown drive,
- 7:54Speaker 1: that's worth three points. So, again, the score, the outcome,
- 7:59Speaker 1: it matters, right? We should win. If we don't, we
- 8:05Speaker 1: have a lot more things to talk about. But we
- 8:08Speaker 1: should win. We want to use a game like this,
- 8:10Speaker 1: I think, to evaluate some other things, keep an eye
- 8:13Speaker 1: on some things. Again, all these things I mentioned today
- 8:15Speaker 1: are stuff that we should all have our eyes on.
- 8:18Speaker 1: as we head into Big Ten play. Hopefully we're 3-0
- 8:21Speaker 1: before we play Michigan State next week. And we take
- 8:26Speaker 1: care of the Fighting Hawks of North Dakota. We'll have
- 8:31Speaker 1: a tailgate pod tomorrow morning, released with all of our
- 8:36Speaker 1: individual predictions and takes. Go Big Red.
