• 1:47
Speaker 1: What a weekend? Where do we even start? Because I'm curious.
• 1:51
Speaker 1: I know you put out a video. I'm curious to
• 1:52
Speaker 1: also dive into some some Michigan talk about what even
• 1:55
Speaker 1: the hell you guys are going to do because it
• 1:56
Speaker 1: seems like the entire operation and plan some of the
• 2:00
Speaker 1: strategy had in place just all went to ship within
• 2:04
Speaker 1: a total of like an hour to the public.
• 2:07
Speaker 3: Eye, I one hundred percent agree, and I am the
• 2:09
Speaker 3: public eye, So I like to believe that Michigan has
• 2:15
Speaker 3: a better game plan than hey. Hopefully Kilin Debor loses
• 2:18
Speaker 3: to Oklahoma and we'll get him and if not killing
• 2:20
Speaker 3: Dillingham's chomping at the bit to leave his alma mater
• 2:23
Speaker 3: in a place he loves more than anything to come
• 2:25
Speaker 3: to Michigan. I'm hoping the thought process will went a
• 2:28
Speaker 3: little more farther than that. If you and we talked
• 2:31
Speaker 3: about this on the bus, if you're a top five program,
• 2:33
Speaker 3: you want to sit there and like we hear with
• 2:36
Speaker 3: ed EDDIEO when he's with LSU getting an interim head
• 2:39
Speaker 3: coach job, he's meeting somebody at a gas station. There's
• 2:41
Speaker 3: burner phones involved, like we have to cover all bases.
• 2:44
Speaker 3: If you're the ad, if this happens, this happens, you're
• 2:46
Speaker 3: always ready for every circumstance. So if something happens that
• 2:49
Speaker 3: seems catastrophic, got your answers. My thought process in the
• 2:55
Speaker 3: Michigan thing is this if sorry, sorry, I just I
• 2:59
Speaker 3: know last week you had this strategy and I was
• 3:02
  Speaker 3: bought into it.
• 3:02
Speaker 1: Like there's a strategy out there, and now the strategy
• 3:05
Speaker 1: is just pure hope, like you're just hoping everything's okay.
• 3:07
Speaker 3: Strategies Pio, I'm gonna play. I'm gonna talk as if
• 3:10
Speaker 3: the only game Pan was Kailin de Borg Kenydingham. Because
• 3:13
Speaker 3: if your thought process, if you're Michigan, is those are
• 3:16
Speaker 3: two guys, then it's everybody else, which there's great coaches
• 3:18
Speaker 3: out there that could take this job and be very successful.
• 3:20
Speaker 3: I have no doubt in that. But if thats the
• 3:22
Speaker 3: Michigan thought process, why would you in your mind settle
• 3:26
Speaker 3: them for somebody else and just kick the can down
• 3:29
Speaker 3: the road of the issues you already have, hoping that
• 3:31
Speaker 3: this person's be successful when there's other two you know
• 3:34
Speaker 3: would be successful. So for me, it's Biff Pogi. The
• 3:39
Speaker 3: thought process is twenty twenty six. Say hey, we're gonna
• 3:43
Speaker 3: go a bit for the year. You frame it as
• 3:46
Speaker 3: we have a lot more issues than just to the
• 3:47
Speaker 3: head coaches. Be the person Michigan. It's great for PR
• 3:50
Speaker 3: You get your president in place who knows what happens
• 3:52
Speaker 3: to the ward manual, whether he is the guy he
• 3:54
Speaker 3: is not the guy. Clearly seems like the ball has
• 3:56
Speaker 3: been fumbled with football, But if you look at every
• 3:59
Speaker 3: other sport at Michigan, which is the athletic director, not
• 4:01
Speaker 3: the football director. They're doing a very good job on
• 4:03
Speaker 3: mat and so maybe he stays he doesn't, but foundationally
• 4:06
Speaker 3: Michigan needs a whole lot more than just we have
• 4:08
Speaker 3: a head coach. Now we ever answer, cause the last
• 4:12
Speaker 3: five years have not been ideal other than a national championship.
• 4:15
Speaker 4: Yeah, so you would think in a I'm not going
• 4:18
Speaker 4: to say a perfect world, within the framework of this situation.
• 4:22
Speaker 4: In a perfect world, you knew that the Sharon fire
• 4:25
Speaker 4: firing was coming from a long way away, so you
• 4:27
Speaker 4: had your ducks in a row. They didn't know the
• 4:29
Speaker 4: Sharon firing was coming.
• 4:31
Speaker 5: There were rumors I heard him, You heard him.
• 4:33
Speaker 4: We talked about him a dozen times during the season,
• 4:36
Speaker 4: but we never knew, like, are we sure they're going
• 4:38
Speaker 4: to fire him? As it turns out, because they went
• 4:40
Speaker 4: what nine to three regular season, I don't think they
• 4:43
Speaker 4: were going to fire him until it all hit the
• 4:45
Speaker 4: fan the week after the Ohio State game, and then
• 4:48
Speaker 4: you've got an entire investigation and then they are firing him.
• 4:52
Speaker 4: But the thing about it is, I'm convinced that Michigan
• 4:54
Speaker 4: folks woke up the Sunday of that week, not expecting
• 4:58
Speaker 4: to conduct a coaching search. Because of that, they had
• 5:01
Speaker 4: to scramble a plan together. And because they had to
• 5:04
Speaker 4: scramble a plan together, just like Penn State a few
• 5:06
Speaker 4: months earlier, there were a certain number of candidates that
• 5:10
Speaker 4: would be obvious, yes, don't even need to get approval
• 5:14
Speaker 4: for type guys. In Penn State's case, that was Marcus Freeman,
• 5:18
  Speaker 4: that was Kaylin.
• 5:19
  Speaker 5: Guys like that.
• 5:20
Speaker 4: And then once they quickly Mike Elko was another one.
• 5:22
Speaker 4: Once they realized we're not getting those guys. Okay, those
• 5:24
Speaker 4: are like the peak of the mountain. Then the mountain
• 5:26
Speaker 4: gets really really wide, really really quick towards the base.
• 5:29
Speaker 4: More people get involved, more voices, more sign offs, more
• 5:33
Speaker 4: checks and balances. So with Michigan, once you realize, like
• 5:36
Speaker 4: you said, this happened in like an eight hour span,
• 5:38
Speaker 4: once you realize it's probably not Kaylan. I don't think
• 5:41
Speaker 4: it ever was. But once you firmly realize it's not Kaylin,
• 5:44
Speaker 4: then Kenny says, no, I'm staying home. You're kind of
• 5:47
Speaker 4: back to square one. You always like to think somewhere
• 5:50
Speaker 4: behind that curtain, they're just a bunch of mad scientists
• 5:53
Speaker 4: and they're five steps ahead of us, and they've got
• 5:55
Speaker 4: a master plan, and if that master plan doesn't work out,
• 5:57
Speaker 4: it's got several side roads of contingency plans and will
• 6:01
Speaker 4: be good. It's just a bunch of people who have
• 6:03
Speaker 4: very very little idea of what tomorrow may bring trying
• 6:06
Speaker 4: to conduct a coaching search.
• 6:07
Speaker 3: Yeah, here's the problem. Is based on the reports that
• 6:10
Speaker 3: have come out since Sharon got fired, is apparently allegedly
• 6:13
Speaker 3: this was brought to the athletic department in the summertime.
• 6:17
Speaker 3: Those are the reports that are being set on Twitter.
• 6:19
Speaker 3: Whether it's true or it's not, let's just say it
• 6:21
Speaker 3: is true. If you are the people making decisions at
• 6:24
Speaker 3: the top and you're like, hey, where to conduct this search,
• 6:27
Speaker 3: a piece of you, an alarm has to go off
• 6:29
Speaker 3: of if there's validity to this, and the road would
• 6:31
Speaker 3: be to fire him. What is our contingency plan.
• 6:33
Speaker 4: That would be if you are the athletic director in
• 6:37
Speaker 4: this case, we don't know that the AD is the
• 6:38
  Speaker 4: one running.
• 6:39
Speaker 3: The search, right because it seems like there's multiple camps
• 6:42
Speaker 3: buying for the top spot to make the decision at
• 6:44
Speaker 3: the University of Michigan. That's where I sit there and
• 6:46
Speaker 3: I'm like, yeah, Biff is. If Biff's sat here right now,
• 6:50
Speaker 3: he would say, I'm not the long term answer for Michigan.
• 6:52
Speaker 3: What do you take the job? Yes, absolutely, he knows
• 6:55
Speaker 3: he's not the long term answer. Michigan knows and the
• 6:57
Speaker 3: fan base knows. But if you're in the position you
• 6:59
Speaker 3: are in now with the coaching cycle, it's pretty much
• 7:01
Speaker 3: all the way gone through, and the two guys you
• 7:03
Speaker 3: thought you had a real shot with that you believed
• 7:05
Speaker 3: was of Michigan caliber, which is debatable at this point,
• 7:09
Speaker 3: they're no long on the table. It's like, well, there's
• 7:12
Speaker 3: gonna be a whole new coaching cycle next year. There's
• 7:13
Speaker 3: gonna be job availabilities that we didn't see coming, just
• 7:17
Speaker 3: like we saw this year. There's gona be big names
• 7:19
Speaker 3: that are back in there, and why not be in
• 7:20
Speaker 3: the front of the line for next year as opposed
• 7:22
Speaker 3: to back the line you have a year of uncertainty.
• 7:25
Speaker 3: Who knows? Like how boosters get behind a donors because
• 7:28
Speaker 3: there's a level of Michigan arrogance in the donor category
• 7:32
Speaker 3: where it's like, regardless of who the head coaches, we
• 7:34
Speaker 3: want to be competitive. They're willing to put money in
• 7:37
Speaker 3: and be like, hey, if you're the guy, get the
• 7:40
Speaker 3: players you want the players you can get, and let's
• 7:42
Speaker 3: be as competitive possible against a gautlet of a schedule.
• 7:44
Speaker 3: And now you're in the middle of October, you're seeing
• 7:46
Speaker 3: the board more clearly. You have a better foundation for
• 7:48
Speaker 3: Michigan and you're able to go this is our guy
• 7:51
Speaker 3: as opposed to a Russian because today is December twenty
• 7:55
Speaker 3: second when we're shooting this, I got a Christmas shot
• 7:58
Speaker 3: the same. The players either today, tomorrow, yesterday, are going
• 8:03
Speaker 3: to go on Christmas break. You are absolutely foolish if
• 8:06
Speaker 3: you think these kids are going to go home open
• 8:08
Speaker 3: presence with their family and not here and have a
• 8:11
Speaker 3: million conversations about what's revolved around them in the football building.
• 8:14
Speaker 3: And guys are going to get in their air. You
• 8:16
Speaker 3: can go here, you can go there. Tampering period is
• 8:18
Speaker 3: crazy right now, but now you're away from your main
• 8:21
Speaker 3: storyline and you're talking.
• 8:22
Speaker 5: To now your parents are tampering with you exactly.
• 8:25
Speaker 3: They know all the money could possibly Yet this is
• 8:28
Speaker 3: going to be a very tough Christmas break for Michigan fans,
• 8:30
  Speaker 3: myself included.
• 8:32
Speaker 1: Ah, losing is not that bad, Wow, losers not that
• 8:38
Speaker 1: bad like you'll have to deal with weight loss, you
• 8:40
Speaker 1: have to deal with muscle turning into fat, you have
• 8:43
Speaker 1: to deal with some short term pains that you'll have
• 8:47
Speaker 1: to deal with shaved heads. But then you can direct
• 8:53
Speaker 1: your anger toward other teams and other fan bases and
• 8:56
Speaker 1: other chaos, and then you just sit back and realize
• 8:58
Speaker 1: this is just a game. It's just a game at
• 9:02
Speaker 1: the end of the day. And then you just you
• 9:05
Speaker 1: gear up for next season. Can you give me one?
• 9:08
Speaker 1: Can you give me one second gear for next season?
• 9:09
Speaker 1: But we're gonna take it all.
• 9:10
Speaker 3: Can you give me a time out? We're gonna put
• 9:12
Speaker 3: you in the little old box real quick as soundproof.
• 9:15
Speaker 3: I don't want to end up like that. Yeah, I
• 9:17
Speaker 3: do not want to become Oh that is you can't
• 9:20
Speaker 3: hear us, so you can see.
• 9:21
Speaker 5: Tell you something that used to be Will Compton?
• 9:23
Speaker 3: Yeah, that used to Did you see his eyes?
• 9:27
Speaker 2: I got bags under my eyes right now.
• 9:28
Speaker 3: He's got bags under his eyes right And it's like
• 9:32
  Speaker 3: it's like a doll's eyes, like a shark size.
• 9:34
Speaker 4: They're just they're just glassed over. They're looking off into space.
• 9:37
Speaker 4: What is he looking at me?
• 9:38
  Speaker 2: Or Jupiter?
• 9:39
Speaker 3: What is he looking at exactly he was talking to me,
• 9:42
Speaker 3: but seeing through me, I do not want to become that.
• 9:47
Speaker 3: His silver lining to me was, you can direct your
• 9:50
  Speaker 3: anger somewhere else.
• 9:52
Speaker 5: Do you remember the fall? Do you remember week zero,
• 9:57
  Speaker 5: week one?
• 9:58
Speaker 3: And you know what's fucked up? Josh Is. I'm so
• 10:00
Speaker 3: glad I can't hear us. When we get on the
• 10:02
Speaker 3: bus in March, he's gonna pull up the schedule and
• 10:05
Speaker 3: he's gonna tell me. He's gonna look me in the eyes.
• 10:07
Speaker 3: You're gonna say ten and two. He's gonna say ten
• 10:09
Speaker 3: and two again. And being his friend, I'm gonna say, yeah,
• 10:13
Speaker 3: you're right, I'm riding with you, and if I ever
• 10:15
Speaker 3: go against it, all, all of a sudden, the bad
• 10:16
Speaker 3: guy m in the trenches. The anger is getting directed
• 10:18
Speaker 3: at me when I'm just trying to look at my boy.
• 10:20
Speaker 3: But hey, all the things you just said, I've kind
• 10:23
Speaker 3: of said to you. But anyway, I'm worried about him.
• 10:28
Speaker 3: I don't come that. So let's let him. Should we
• 10:32
Speaker 3: let him back out of the box.
• 10:33
  Speaker 5: I am.
• 10:34
Speaker 4: I'm gonna do everything I can for you, Okay, I
• 10:39
Speaker 4: need that. I'm gonna do everything I can for you.
• 10:41
Speaker 3: My only hope, my only wish is we can go
• 10:44
Speaker 3: back in time and when Will was starting this journey
• 10:47
Speaker 3: with Nebraska, you were there to be there the way
• 10:50
Speaker 3: you're gonna be there for me.
• 10:51
Speaker 4: I stayed in the Foxhold as long as I could,
• 10:53
Speaker 4: as long as because.
• 10:55
Speaker 3: It's not built for everybody, because there's a lot of
• 10:57
Speaker 3: question marks are revolving around Michigan. But like your three,
• 11:01
  Speaker 3: Matt Ruhle.
• 11:03
Speaker 5: Like even Dylan left.
• 11:06
Speaker 3: Yeah, what happened that man?
• 11:08
Speaker 2: We're building the program?
• 11:09
Speaker 5: Is he reading our lips? He's talking in there. I
• 11:12
Speaker 5: see him talking in.
• 11:13
  Speaker 2: There, doing something.
• 11:14
Speaker 3: Anyway, let's get him out of it. I'm sure he's
• 11:16
Speaker 3: running out of air. You're back.
• 11:18
Speaker 2: I'm not runn out of air.
• 11:19
Speaker 1: I'm just I'm running off a strictly caffeine and Greek yogurt.
• 11:22
Speaker 1: I found out about sixteen ounces of it. It's all
• 11:24
Speaker 1: I'm running on. I got a kid at home right
• 11:26
Speaker 1: now with one hundred and three fever.
• 11:27
Speaker 5: You gotta scratch on your neck.
• 11:29
Speaker 2: I gotta stretch scratch on my neck for my one
• 11:31
Speaker 2: year old. It's just a game.
• 11:32
  Speaker 5: It's just a.
• 11:35
Speaker 3: I don't want to become. I'm excited. You have to
• 11:39
Speaker 3: hear that, because we weren't just talking about you. We
• 11:40
Speaker 3: had a couple of other things, But I really don't
• 11:42
Speaker 3: want to become what you're doing right now.
• 11:43
Speaker 4: This this this went from we're going in tonight and
• 11:47
Speaker 4: someone's not coming back alive.
• 11:49
  Speaker 5: It's just a game.
• 11:52
Speaker 3: We would have if we die, We died. Why are
• 11:54
Speaker 3: we taking so serious? That's that's that's me. Soon if
• 12:01
  Speaker 3: Michigan can't figure.
• 12:02
Speaker 5: It out, you're one or two more no's away from him.
• 12:05
Speaker 3: And if I could just go back in time and
• 12:08
Speaker 3: talk to somebody that's making a decision, be like, just
• 12:10
Speaker 3: call Kenny right now and offer him the job. Because
• 12:12
Speaker 3: him being a press conference saying they never offered me
• 12:15
Speaker 3: the job. We knew that, but why not?
• 12:19
Speaker 5: Yeah, that was what was funny.
• 12:20
Speaker 2: The whole time he was playing everybody.
• 12:22
  Speaker 5: I don't do you know why? I don't think he
• 12:24
Speaker 5: want to address that. My eyes or watering. Well. So
• 12:27
Speaker 5: a lot of people are saying what you just said.
• 12:30
Speaker 4: A lot of people think, oh, man, Kenny and his
• 12:32
Speaker 4: agent just played Michigan.
• 12:34
  Speaker 5: No they didn't.
• 12:35
Speaker 4: We were like you, now that this is over, you
• 12:38
Speaker 4: talk with Kenny several times throughout this, did you not?
• 12:40
  Speaker 2: Yes?
• 12:40
Speaker 4: I talked with Kenny Dillingham like five or six times
• 12:42
Speaker 4: throughout this. I know Kenny's agent very well. When most
• 12:46
Speaker 4: people were speculating that they already had an offer and
• 12:50
Speaker 4: they were negotiating with Michigan, he had never even talked
• 12:52
  Speaker 4: to him.
• 12:53
  Speaker 5: And I don't mean that.
• 12:54
Speaker 4: Thing where your agent is talking so you can have
• 12:56
Speaker 4: plausible deniability. I mean, there was nothing in front of him.
• 12:59
Speaker 4: They really were waiting for Kaylin de Boor and Kenny's
• 13:02
Speaker 4: just like hanging out there in multiple press conferences at
• 13:05
Speaker 4: Arizona State saying yeah, I haven't talked to Michigan. This
• 13:08
Speaker 4: because he hadn't talked to Michigan, he had no idea.
• 13:10
Speaker 4: You assume the offer is gonna come. You don't know
• 13:12
Speaker 4: if the offer is gonna come or not, just because
• 13:14
Speaker 4: the Internet says so, you don't know if the offer's
• 13:16
Speaker 4: gonna come. So no one played anybody. He was brutally
• 13:20
Speaker 4: honest this whole time. That's why last week on the show,
• 13:23
Speaker 4: I said, hey, I don't think just if he gets
• 13:25
Speaker 4: the offer, it's a slam dunk that he's going to
• 13:27
Speaker 4: take agree because he actually is truthful when he says
• 13:29
Speaker 4: I love Arizona State. Now, if you're if you're living
• 13:32
Speaker 4: in Missoula, Montana, and you say, hey, if you could
• 13:35
Speaker 4: add the Arizona State job or the Michigan job, which
• 13:37
Speaker 4: would you take. Well, that guy's taking Michigan. But that
• 13:39
Speaker 4: guy's not Kenny Dillingham. So it was always going to
• 13:42
Speaker 4: be a tough pull in the best of circumstances, and
• 13:44
Speaker 4: Michigan search is not being handled in the best of
• 13:47
  Speaker 4: ways right now.
• 13:48
Speaker 3: No, it feels that way. We could get a week
• 13:50
Speaker 3: down the road, it could completely change, but it seems
• 13:52
Speaker 3: like to me the deadline has kind of is we're
• 13:56
Speaker 3: at or starting to pass the deadlines where these kids
• 13:58
Speaker 3: are going to get impatient. Yeah, because they've done a
• 14:00
Speaker 3: great job of staying in. I think we've had two
• 14:03
Speaker 3: guys transfer out, both guys you hope for the best
• 14:06
Speaker 3: for them. And when these kids do leave a lot
• 14:08
Speaker 3: of Michigan fans are going to be mad. But how
• 14:10
Speaker 3: can you blame them if they leave and there's no
• 14:13
Speaker 3: structure or nothing around them to where they go. I
• 14:15
Speaker 3: feel confident about the growth of my football career hoping
• 14:18
Speaker 3: to meet to the NFL. That's the shitty part. You
• 14:22
Speaker 3: sit there and you just go name a guy, and
• 14:24
Speaker 3: the name you have right now is Biff and you
• 14:26
Speaker 3: can get all the answers you want, and twenty six
• 14:29
Speaker 3: and just hope a lot of these kids that say
• 14:31
Speaker 3: they love Biff, that want Biff, Like Marlon Klein is
• 14:34
Speaker 3: the was a captain this year, tight end. He said
• 14:38
Speaker 3: to the press, I want Biff PODi to have be
• 14:40
Speaker 3: the head coach of Michigan. So if a captain's saying that,
• 14:42
Speaker 3: and guys are aligned and it feels like dudes are
• 14:44
Speaker 3: knocking at the door of the ad saying, Biff, we're leaving,
• 14:48
Speaker 3: then call them on their bluff. Hire Biff. They're probably
• 14:52
Speaker 3: going to leave. But at the end of the day, man,
• 14:55
Speaker 3: it's like you can't expect them all to stay anyway.
• 14:57
Speaker 3: It's twenty twenty six, new one. IL find your guy
• 15:01
Speaker 3: in twenty six. Don't force it right now because it's
• 15:03
  Speaker 3: too late.
• 15:05
Speaker 2: Do you want Biff?
• 15:06
Speaker 3: My call would be Biff if I mean, I think
• 15:09
Speaker 3: if like Kyle Woodingham.
• 15:10
Speaker 5: But he asked, He didn't ask who your call would be.
• 15:12
Speaker 5: He asked, if do you want Biff.
• 15:14
Speaker 3: The way it feels right now, I think the only
• 15:16
  Speaker 3: answer is bet.
• 15:17
Speaker 5: But he didn't ask what the only answer is? Do
• 15:20
  Speaker 5: you want Biff?
• 15:21
  Speaker 2: Pogi.
• 15:22
Speaker 3: I want Biff Pog for twenty six. I don't think.
• 15:27
Speaker 3: I think Biff is not the long term answer at Michigan.
• 15:30
Speaker 2: So you want a short term Do you want a
• 15:31
  Speaker 2: short term guy?
• 15:32
Speaker 3: I think you go into an interim head coach situation.
• 15:34
Speaker 3: Gary Muller, similar situation in Michigan gets fired. Who takes
• 15:36
Speaker 3: over his intern head coach for a year, Lloyd Carr.
• 15:38
Speaker 3: Lloyd Carr was there for ten years.
• 15:40
Speaker 5: But that's not the game plan.
• 15:42
Speaker 3: Probably a different situation most likely, but it's the closest
• 15:45
Speaker 3: one I can give you right now, right like I'm
• 15:49
Speaker 3: look at the situation in Michigan. I'm pulling at straws
• 15:51
  Speaker 3: right now.
• 15:52
Speaker 5: When you can rent.
• 15:53
Speaker 3: I'm just sitting in the batter's box, and.
• 15:54
Speaker 5: I'm exactly why live when you can squat.
• 15:58
Speaker 3: Exactly? Go blue, Go yeah, go blue, Don't blue anyway, man.
• 16:05
Speaker 1: And if you want to taste something good, form Energy

• 16:23
Speaker 1: somebody who wakes up in the morning, gets their hustle on,
• 16:25
Speaker 1: gets a workout in full day of work, still gives
• 16:28
Speaker 1: it their all when they come home, you are a
• 16:29
  Speaker 1: form energy guy.
• 16:30
Speaker 2: Form energy. We do the work. Back to the episode
• 16:34
Speaker 2: colleg Football Playoff, we just said the first round.
• 16:36
Speaker 5: Hey, Merry Christmas, Mary, Christmas, Mary, Chris, Merry Christmas.
• 16:40
Speaker 3: Guys, this is awesome.
• 16:42
Speaker 5: Just a game I'm gonna have.
• 16:43
Speaker 2: That's just the game. Just talk about the games that
• 16:45
Speaker 2: epen of the weekend.
• 16:47
  Speaker 3: Oklahoma.
• 16:50
Speaker 5: Tell me about Oklahoma.
• 16:51
Speaker 3: I will say this about my expaniense in Oklahoma, I
• 16:54
Speaker 3: probably won't be going back for a while. That being said,
• 16:57
Speaker 3: I thought the people in Worklahoma were great. I thought
• 16:59
Speaker 3: the coach staff was amazing. I thought the beat reporters
• 17:02
Speaker 3: were awesome. Everybody on the sideline I talked to was great.
• 17:06
Speaker 3: But there was one situation. I'm just like, I'll probably
• 17:08
Speaker 3: won't go back there for a minute. I'll let it breathe.
• 17:11
Speaker 3: And that's what it is, because it's not that I'm
• 17:13
Speaker 3: sure the players are great. Gay by Kert, great guy,
• 17:16
Speaker 3: played with him. He's a big He's big in Oklahoma.
• 17:18
Speaker 3: Probably won't go back. Environment was awesome. Cannot believe they
• 17:21
Speaker 3: blew a seventeen ol laite. I can't believe, especially with
• 17:24
Speaker 3: their defense, with their defense clump Ty Simpson. Though he
• 17:29
Speaker 3: got it back, He got it back tight, and he
• 17:32
Speaker 3: got it back between the years.
• 17:33
Speaker 4: It's really got to make you Tube feel kind of
• 17:35
Speaker 4: dumb that you doubted him, you picked against him, and
• 17:39
Speaker 4: you got called. It's got to make the two of
• 17:41
Speaker 4: you specifically really look in the mirror and ask, how
• 17:45
Speaker 4: did I doubt Ty Simpson?
• 17:47
Speaker 2: Yeah, and that's how you said.
• 17:48
Speaker 1: Then I look back in the mirror and I say, Kurt,
• 17:51
Speaker 1: big Netty, you will You're right on doubting them.
• 17:58
Speaker 2: They Oklahoma just choked the game. They blew it.
• 18:01
Speaker 3: This is not gonna say we were right. Oklahoma just
• 18:04
  Speaker 3: got it wrong.
• 18:04
Speaker 5: They screwed it up.
• 18:05
Speaker 3: They screwed it up, They screwed up.
• 18:07
Speaker 5: Welcome to my world.
• 18:08
Speaker 3: Big fan of Tie, love him, obviously loved killing seriously,
• 18:12
Speaker 3: but they fucked up. Oklahoma messed up bad. Yeah, I
• 18:17
Speaker 3: got I got nothing but love for Tye. But no
• 18:19
Speaker 3: one's gonna sit there and tell me that this is
• 18:22
  Speaker 3: the plan.
• 18:22
Speaker 1: You win the national title with r if you're two
• 18:24
Speaker 1: for twelve and third down you average one point one
• 18:26
Speaker 1: yards per rush. The punter he just drops the ball.
• 18:30
Speaker 1: He drops the ball, did you see Yeah, he drops
• 18:33
Speaker 1: the ball, and then John Matier he can talk about miscommunication. Receiver,
• 18:37
Speaker 1: you want you gifted a Christmas gift to the corner.
• 18:40
Speaker 2: He was taking it to the house, no matter what
• 18:42
  Speaker 2: the route was.
• 18:43
  Speaker 3: Yeah.
• 18:43
Speaker 4: Well, I would say if it was a quick button hook,
• 18:45
Speaker 4: which I'm pretty sure he hand signaled to him and
• 18:47
Speaker 4: he picked up on it, it wouldn't have gone to
• 18:49
Speaker 4: the house because it would have had to go through
• 18:50
Speaker 4: the receiver's body before to the house.
• 18:53
Speaker 2: I think that Sona was sitting inside. All he was
• 18:55
Speaker 2: doing is sitting in there reading the Quarterbacks Cover two.
• 18:58
Speaker 5: Yeah, but I still think. So you go back watch
• 19:00
Speaker 5: TV copy, which I assume both of you have.
• 19:02
Speaker 4: He looks out there, whatever in the world this means
• 19:04
Speaker 4: for Oklahoma, he gives it to him. I think he
• 19:07
Speaker 4: got a head nod from the receiver, but I'm not
• 19:09
Speaker 4: sure whatever he told that dude to do, I'm pretty
• 19:13
Speaker 4: sure he blindly trusted that he was going to do
• 19:15
Speaker 4: and that kid didn't do it. You're just look, I'm
• 19:17
Speaker 4: someone who held a Jammeteer Heisman ticket. I've got a
• 19:21
Speaker 4: dog in the fight here, not anymore, but I did
• 19:23
Speaker 4: have a dog in the fight. I am not gonna
• 19:25
Speaker 4: believe that John Matier took that ball. Said no receiver
• 19:27
Speaker 4: over there, Saban Brown was good enough. I'm not gonna
• 19:31
Speaker 4: believe he did that. If he throws an errant ball
• 19:34
Speaker 4: over the middle or something like that. Okay, Now, he
• 19:36
Speaker 4: could not have hit a dB in the chest any
• 19:39
Speaker 4: more effectively than he did with that ball. So I'm
• 19:41
  Speaker 4: gonna say miscommunication.
• 19:42
Speaker 3: Oh for sure, miscommunication.
• 19:43
Speaker 4: But I just want to ball use But I'm going
• 19:46
Speaker 4: to say it's all on the receiver. I just don't
• 19:48
Speaker 4: want John Matier to get any of the blank.
• 19:50
Speaker 3: Okay, hey, if that's how you want to live, absolutely,
• 19:53
Speaker 3: Team Sport eleven guys got to be in the same page.
• 19:58
Speaker 4: He was great on third down in the first half.
• 20:00
Speaker 4: I thought that was going to end up being the
• 20:01
Speaker 4: stat of the game.
• 20:02
Speaker 3: Well, you said it's.
• 20:02
Speaker 1: Funny because the stat sheet was basically flipped from the
• 20:05
  Speaker 1: last game.
• 20:07
Speaker 2: It was not like as bad as Alabama kind of
• 20:09
Speaker 2: had him in the last game.
• 20:10
Speaker 3: But the turnover margin all that stuff.
• 20:12
Speaker 4: Think about the first quarter and change of this game.
• 20:16
Speaker 4: It was like the fifth quarter of the SEC Championship game,
• 20:19
Speaker 4: how lifeless Alabama looked, how bad the feel was getting
• 20:22
Speaker 4: tilted on them, average starting field position, all that stuff
• 20:25
Speaker 4: that we talked about after Obama Georgia and to an
• 20:27
Speaker 4: extent Bama OU Round one was the first quarter of
• 20:30
Speaker 4: this game. Okay, So like I'm joking around a little
• 20:33
Speaker 4: bit about tie. But after the game, I'm on the
• 20:36
Speaker 4: field and some of the BAMA coaches they're kind of
• 20:38
Speaker 4: messing around, but like they're saying, man, you doubted us,
• 20:40
Speaker 4: You doubted us? Dude, Yes, I doubted you in this game.
• 20:44
Speaker 4: I doubted you down seventeen you. Oh in the world,
• 20:46
  Speaker 4: wasn't doubting you?
• 20:46
Speaker 2: And I doubt you.
• 20:48
Speaker 5: It's not like, okay, I don't want to go that
• 20:49
Speaker 5: part yet, I still doubt you.
• 20:52
Speaker 4: It's not personal game. It's not personal. It's definitely not personal.
• 20:56
Speaker 4: It has nothing to do with Alabama. I'm just gonna
• 20:58
Speaker 4: come out of my chair when I yelled its nothing
• 21:00
Speaker 4: to do with Alabama.
• 21:01
Speaker 3: But this is entertainment, entertainment, right and after it's just
• 21:05
  Speaker 3: it's really.
• 21:05
  Speaker 5: Just the game.
• 21:06
Speaker 2: It's just a game. The game is just the game.
• 21:08
Speaker 4: But this thing people do sometimes when you've given them
• 21:10
Speaker 4: every reason to feel a way, and then you feel
• 21:13
Speaker 4: that way, and then they act differently than the way
• 21:15
Speaker 4: that made you feel how you originally felt, and they're like,
• 21:17
Speaker 4: you had the audacity to.
• 21:18
  Speaker 5: Feel that way.
• 21:19
Speaker 4: Yes, and I'm gonna tell you why. Because you were
• 21:23
Speaker 4: terrible in Atlanta last time. I saw you, highly ineffective.
• 21:27
Speaker 4: Some people didn't even think you should be in the playoff.
• 21:31
Speaker 4: I defended you. I went to bat for you, and
• 21:33
Speaker 4: you're giving them all the ammunition that he'll ever need,
• 21:36
Speaker 4: Slash Day will ever need. So yeah, I think there
• 21:39
Speaker 4: was a little bit of reason to doubt Alabama. They overcame. Okay,
• 21:42
Speaker 4: now they get to go against Indiana, and that's a
• 21:44
Speaker 4: game we're gonna cover post Christmas.
• 21:46
Speaker 5: But that one we.
• 21:48
Speaker 4: Got, we got Miami Ohio State, we got Oregon Texas Tech.
• 21:52
Speaker 4: That's the big tense chance to flex and just knock
• 21:54
Speaker 4: everything on its on its ear.
• 21:56
Speaker 1: And Indiana can run the football. Indiana's got Fernando Mendoza
• 21:59
Speaker 1: and we talked to But the drop punt. You saw
• 22:01
  Speaker 1: the drop punt.
• 22:01
Speaker 3: Yeah, before that drop punt, he just dropped it.
• 22:04
Speaker 2: He just dropped He literally just.
• 22:06
  Speaker 3: Dropped the ball.
• 22:07
Speaker 1: He dropped it well before that on that third and
• 22:10
Speaker 1: three where Manteria kind of makes it happen. He's got
• 22:13
Speaker 1: old buddy down the field, he just drops the ball.
• 22:15
Speaker 1: Yeah like that right there would have been twenty four
• 22:17
  Speaker 1: to seven.
• 22:18
  Speaker 2: Yeah. Yeah.
• 22:20
Speaker 3: And Alabama, like their defense is pretty clear now what
• 22:23
Speaker 3: they want to do is they want to play zone
• 22:24
Speaker 3: and back up and not give up X plays And
• 22:26
Speaker 3: they're like, hey, well as you just pick us a
• 22:28
Speaker 3: part up and down the field. Who can do that?
• 22:31
Speaker 3: Indiana all day long. That's what they can do. A
• 22:34
Speaker 3: very nice way, in a very nice way, and the
• 22:37
Speaker 3: most robotic computer way you could possibly ask for.
• 22:40
Speaker 1: Yeah, they're gonna have to find some more like offensive
• 22:43
Speaker 1: just production because again, you look at him in the
• 22:45
Speaker 1: first part of the year until essentially what like November
• 22:47
Speaker 1: mid whenever they started to play South Carolina, like Alabama's
• 22:50
Speaker 1: offense and you go and if you look at box
• 22:53
Speaker 1: scores and everything else, like they're averaging well over like
• 22:56
Speaker 1: twenty first downs per game, and that kind of just
• 22:59
Speaker 1: goes away. Like when you look at their body of
• 23:01
Speaker 1: work at the late part of the year, which is
• 23:02
Speaker 1: where all the doubt crept in. Is something wrong with
• 23:04
Speaker 1: Tie is something going on with the offense. They can
• 23:06
Speaker 1: never really run the football, but they're only averaging around.
• 23:08
Speaker 1: It's like south to fifteen, like south to fifteen first down,
• 23:11
Speaker 1: So where they're just they haven't had a whole lot
• 23:13
Speaker 1: of production. You're kind of hanging on explosive plays. Like
• 23:16
Speaker 1: they scored thirty four points in that game, and you
• 23:18
Speaker 1: look everywhere else, whether it's on the box score, everywhere,
• 23:21
Speaker 1: I can't believe that there was what was the total
• 23:24
Speaker 1: in that game or fifteen and a half. Yeah, but
• 23:27
Speaker 1: they had the both teams combined scored like what over
• 23:30
Speaker 1: sixty point fifty eight points? Yeah, yeah, fifty eight points.
• 23:33
Speaker 1: And I'm just it did not feel like a game
• 23:35
Speaker 1: where both teams where you just generate fifty eight points.
• 23:38
Speaker 3: Yeah. No, it was just explosive plays and then miss
• 23:41
Speaker 3: cues on whoever's fault it was. We're gonna for this show,
• 23:44
Speaker 3: We'll say it was the wide receivers, the punter, like
• 23:47
  Speaker 3: just crazy stuff.
• 23:49
  Speaker 2: Yeah.
• 23:50
Speaker 4: But if you take if you take so that the
• 23:52
Speaker 4: pick six, that's a defensive score, just take it off
• 23:54
Speaker 4: the board. Take the three points they got from the
• 23:57
Speaker 4: muff punt or muffed handling of the punt off the board.
• 24:00
Speaker 4: Even if you shave ten points off that still forty
• 24:02
Speaker 4: eight points. It didn't even feel like a game where
• 24:04
Speaker 4: forty eight got scored, right, It's pretty crazy.
• 24:07
Speaker 1: And you had a couple missed field goals there at
• 24:08
Speaker 1: the end too, which I know that Buddy was in
• 24:10
Speaker 1: hell mentally missing those field goals.
• 24:12
Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, he had to be dying. What was your
• 24:15
Speaker 3: thought on the Miami Texa and m game?
• 24:17
  Speaker 2: Pretty boring.
• 24:18
Speaker 5: It was what I thought Bama OU was going to be.
• 24:20
Speaker 4: Yeah, it was extremely windy there. It was more windy
• 24:26
Speaker 4: than the night before. I think once Miami realized we're
• 24:29
Speaker 4: sort of sinking in our teeth a little bit and
• 24:32
Speaker 4: Marcel Rea's not running the ball on us, which mobile
• 24:35
Speaker 4: quarterbacks don't against Miami. Once they realized that, it was like,
• 24:39
Speaker 4: we're not gonna let Carson Beack lose the game, is
• 24:42
Speaker 4: how I felt they handled it.
• 24:43
Speaker 5: Fletcher. You know, they got a four quarter approach.
• 24:46
Speaker 4: They think that they can bust the game open, and
• 24:47
Speaker 4: the fourth quarter on the ground they did, so they
• 24:50
Speaker 4: were able to stick to that. But they were able
• 24:51
Speaker 4: to stick to that cause defense allowed them to. And
• 24:53
Speaker 4: so I'm sitting there the entire time thinking, Okay, rewind
• 24:57
Speaker 4: one year ago. Miami's having to score four every game
• 25:00
Speaker 4: with cam Ward doing it basically on his own, so
• 25:03
Speaker 4: they have a shot to win because defensively they're just atrocious.
• 25:06
Speaker 4: And they made a personnel change and went and got
• 25:09
Speaker 4: a new defensive coordinator, Corey Heathman out of Minnesota. They
• 25:12
Speaker 4: made a huge deal about it internally, probably went under
• 25:15
Speaker 4: the radar a little bit nationally. Well, now look at
• 25:18
Speaker 4: them and look at the ability. Imagine me telling you
• 25:20
Speaker 4: a year ago Miami a year from now is gonna
• 25:22
Speaker 4: lose cam Ward. I'm not even gonna tell you who
• 25:24
Speaker 4: they're going to get a quarterback. They're just gonna portle
• 25:26
Speaker 4: in a guy, but there's no way he's going to
• 25:28
Speaker 4: be as good as cam Ward. So you're thinking downgrade there.
• 25:31
Speaker 4: Then you're I'm gonna tell you they're going to go
• 25:33
Speaker 4: on the road in.
• 25:34
Speaker 5: A playoff game. So they are going to make the playoff.
• 25:36
  Speaker 5: That's great.
• 25:37
Speaker 4: They're gonna go on the road, They're going to score
• 25:39
Speaker 4: ten and that's going to be good enough to win
• 25:41
  Speaker 4: a game.
• 25:42
Speaker 5: Would have sounded insane, yep, and yet they did it.
• 25:45
Speaker 2: You bring a great points too, like, imagine if this
• 25:47
Speaker 2: Miami team had cam Ward on it.
• 25:48
  Speaker 5: Yep.
• 25:50
Speaker 4: Yes, imagine cam warden a fraction of this defense last year.
• 25:53
Speaker 3: Yeah, they're in it, and they're probably they have a
• 25:55
Speaker 3: good chance to win it.
• 25:56
Speaker 1: Actually, outside of just the missfield goals that was that
• 25:59
Speaker 1: was brutal kid man.
• 26:00
Speaker 3: I felt so bad for him, but.
• 26:01
Speaker 1: I was actually enjoying watching the defensive battle. I mean
• 26:04
Speaker 1: Miami and Hm too, but just flying around with their
• 26:06
Speaker 1: hair on fire, tight windows. I'm thinking, who, which quarterback
• 26:10
Speaker 1: is gonna like step up in the spotlight and really,
• 26:13
Speaker 1: you know, neither of you really leaning in the first half.
• 26:16
Speaker 3: Marcel Reid's gonna be the one to kind of like
• 26:18
Speaker 3: step up and finish, just get a deep shot down
• 26:20
Speaker 3: like he did a play action, scrambled around a little bit,
• 26:22
Speaker 3: had a guy wide open, and the left side of
• 26:25
Speaker 3: the field got that and they stalled out end up
• 26:27
Speaker 3: getting nothing on that. It kind of felt like, if
• 26:30
Speaker 3: there's a quarterback that's going to win you the game,
• 26:32
Speaker 3: it felt like Marcel Reid and moving Carson back throughout it.
• 26:35
Speaker 1: Yeah, and there's gonna be plays that. I know Marcel
• 26:37
Speaker 1: Read's watching world just like timing and rhythm. He's gonna
• 26:39
Speaker 1: want plays back where I feel like when you're going
• 26:42
Speaker 1: against Ohio State, Julian will thrive more in some many situation.
• 26:45
Speaker 1: So I'm excited to kind of watch the Miami defense
• 26:47
Speaker 1: against the Ohio State offense.
• 26:49
Speaker 5: There's one more thing that's happened right now. Landing's dealing
• 26:51
Speaker 5: with it. Elcho dealt with it.
• 26:52
Speaker 4: It's this thing with the abnormal hiring cycle where your
• 26:56
Speaker 4: staff gets new jobs, but then they're still coaching through
• 27:00
  Speaker 4: the playoffs.
• 27:02
Speaker 5: So Elko is losing both of his coordinators.
• 27:05
Speaker 4: Colin Klein took the Kansas State job like he's going
• 27:07
Speaker 4: to be a head coach, Well, he's still your offensive coordinator.
• 27:10
Speaker 4: Bateman is leaving as well. So I was talking to
• 27:13
Speaker 4: some folks about the dynamics that that creates in a building,
• 27:16
Speaker 4: And on one hand, it's really really weird for prep
• 27:18
Speaker 4: because on one hand, you're very happy that your guys
• 27:21
Speaker 4: are getting opportunities, but job's not finished, so your most
• 27:24
Speaker 4: important games are coming up, and the attention span is
• 27:27
Speaker 4: fragmented from your theoretically your second third most important guys
• 27:32
Speaker 4: in your staff. But also here's where Rubbern really meets
• 27:34
Speaker 4: the road. If I'm head coach here and you're my
• 27:37
Speaker 4: OC and you're my DC, you're getting looks because we're winning. Probably,
• 27:42
Speaker 4: so then you get hired as a head coach. And
• 27:43
Speaker 4: you get hired as a head coach. But the way
• 27:45
Speaker 4: it works is you don't just leave and say bye.
• 27:48
Speaker 4: You leave and you got to put a staff together,
• 27:50
Speaker 4: And the first instinct you have is to look right
• 27:53
Speaker 4: back in my building. Yep, because I've got a building
• 27:56
Speaker 4: full of top level people in nutrition, strength, to condition,
• 28:00
Speaker 4: your your own support staff, like, whatever the case may be.
• 28:02
Speaker 4: So I go from wishing you well, congratulate you. I
• 28:06
Speaker 4: may have even recommended you for the job too. I
• 28:08
Speaker 4: don't want you taking my staffers, and so I'm fighting
• 28:11
Speaker 4: against you and against you to keep people in my
• 28:14
Speaker 4: building who you only got an opportunity to work around
• 28:18
Speaker 4: because I gave you an opportunity and you did your job.
• 28:21
Speaker 5: So we're even there.
• 28:23
Speaker 4: Imagine sitting in a staff room where we're having to
• 28:26
Speaker 4: work together to put together game plan to try and
• 28:28
Speaker 4: get ready to go win a game, hopefully multiple games,
• 28:31
Speaker 4: and I'm also competing against you kind of to keep staffers.
• 28:35
Speaker 5: Yeah that's not an easy dynasic.
• 28:36
Speaker 2: All happened quietly too. Yeah it gets allowed.
• 28:38
Speaker 1: Then there's an argument, Yeah, yeah, throws everything football Like NFL,
• 28:42
Speaker 1: if a coach gets hired and he's trying to bring
• 28:45
Speaker 1: guys on, coaches for other teams can block guys leaving
• 28:49
Speaker 1: unless it's like a pay raise or not a pay raise,
• 28:51
Speaker 1: but like you get elevated as far.
• 28:52
Speaker 3: As your role goes.
• 28:53
Speaker 2: Great question, like they can't make a lateral move.
• 28:55
Speaker 3: They can't make a lateral move, but there's multiple time
• 28:57
Speaker 3: like a love floor. When he left, I know Vrabel
• 28:59
Speaker 3: blocked the people from leaving because like, hey, I want
• 29:01
Speaker 3: you guys here, and you're taking a lateral move, so
• 29:03
Speaker 3: he would keep those guys in the building.
• 29:05
Speaker 5: This will shock you. None of that exists in college.
• 29:08
Speaker 3: Oh man, Yeah, football is the best right now. I'm
• 29:12
Speaker 3: getting fucked up my family, my school is getting by
• 29:15
Speaker 3: the front of it right now. But it is awesome.
• 29:18
Speaker 1: Yeah, that would be tough because again, if if you're
• 29:21
Speaker 1: the head coach in the situation, you're doing everything you
• 29:24
Speaker 1: can to pour into the situation that be, which is, hey,
• 29:27
Speaker 1: we gotta we want to win the national title.
• 29:29
Speaker 2: Win the coach will playoff.
• 29:30
Speaker 1: Then whenever I know in my brain if all of
• 29:33
Speaker 1: my prep and all my stuff gets done, once I
• 29:35
Speaker 1: get moments of time where I feel like I would
• 29:38
Speaker 1: be finding whatever the creative ways are, whatever you're obsessing
• 29:41
Speaker 1: about within the team. Now that I'm going to be
• 29:43
Speaker 1: a head coach, I feel like all that free time
• 29:45
Speaker 1: now would be going into whether it be the relationships
• 29:48
Speaker 1: inside the building, hitting people up outside, like hey, what's
• 29:50
Speaker 1: your situation going on with this school? Like I'd be
• 29:52
Speaker 1: putting more toward into what my future is going to
• 29:54
Speaker 1: be at my next school, because now I'm about to
• 29:56
Speaker 1: take my first head coaching job.
• 29:57
Speaker 3: And if coaches the you know this in the building,
• 30:00
Speaker 3: like what is our actual chances of winning a national championship?
• 30:03
  Speaker 3: Like I'm sure there was a like a Texas A
• 30:06
Speaker 3: and M saw where their flaws were and then saw
• 30:08
Speaker 3: the road and realize our flaws don't match up. I
• 30:11
Speaker 3: can't be hidden through these future teams. So once you
• 30:14
Speaker 3: can make that decision, you're as an OC or DCU.
• 30:16
Speaker 3: Now as a head coaching job, it's even more of
• 30:18
Speaker 3: a reason to going, Hey, let me focus on what
• 30:20
Speaker 3: I got going on here, So maybe I could be
• 30:22
Speaker 3: the head coach here someday or somewhere else.
• 30:24
Speaker 4: And the important thing to remember now that we go
• 30:25
Speaker 4: into quartifying around is Dan Lanning's dealing with us.
• 30:28
Speaker 5: He's losing both coordinators.
• 30:30
Speaker 4: So keep that in mind as you start to think
• 30:33
Speaker 4: about the Orange Bowl.
• 30:35
Speaker 5: How do I think they match up with Texas Tech?
• 30:36
Speaker 5: Well that other factors in the room.
• 30:38
Speaker 4: I know, no way you can quantify that because it
• 30:40
Speaker 4: probably works different program to program, case by case, So
• 30:44
Speaker 4: you just never know culture by culture.
• 30:46
Speaker 1: And we're I know, Tash is going to cow where's
• 30:48
Speaker 1: the OC going Kentucky head coach of Kentucky. Yeah, it's like,
• 30:53
Speaker 1: unless you're going to I feel like I'm kind of
• 30:56
Speaker 1: zooming out. Unless you're going to like an SEC or
• 30:59
Speaker 1: Big ten, a really good job where you feel like
• 31:01
Speaker 1: there's gonna be a lot more resource help to where
• 31:03
Speaker 1: people can kind of do some of these things, some
• 31:05
Speaker 1: of these responsibilities that you deem as a priority and
• 31:08
Speaker 1: you got people that can handle it. If you're going
• 31:09
Speaker 1: to like an ACC or a Big twelve school to
• 31:11
Speaker 1: where I feel like there's gonna be more urgency there
• 31:14
Speaker 1: for you to have more responsibility because you don't have
• 31:17
Speaker 1: all the same resources and backing that like the Big ten,
• 31:19
Speaker 1: some of these prominent Big ten and SEC schools have.
• 31:22
Speaker 3: Yeah, what we interup ace episode to bring you True Classics,
• 31:27
Speaker 3: specifically the True Classic Pima T shirts. They got that
• 31:29
Speaker 3: little curve on the side, grab the shoulders, grab the
• 31:32
Speaker 3: chest a little bit. Your boy hasn't been in a
• 31:34
Speaker 3: weight room and god knows how long. But when I
• 31:36
Speaker 3: put that T shirt on, I think to myself, you
• 31:37
Speaker 3: know what, maybe you go be all right? After all.
• 31:39
Speaker 3: You can find Truelassic at Amazon and Costco, SAMs Club
• 31:42
Speaker 3: and Target nationwide online at True classic dot com for
• 31:44
Speaker 3: its last busin look good, Feel Good, Play good? Would
• 31:48
Speaker 3: you guys make a few other two games? I just
• 31:50
Speaker 3: all I did was look at the app. I learned
• 31:53
Speaker 3: that through the show you can just go on the
• 31:54
Speaker 3: opposite of googling the scores. I put out my little
• 31:58
Speaker 3: goat Jurassic Part A post photo all contexts and just
• 32:02
Speaker 3: waited for the scores to run. Seemed like Tulane got
• 32:05
Speaker 3: a whole lot better. They lost forty one to ten
• 32:07
Speaker 3: as opposed to forty five to ten, so a four
• 32:10
Speaker 3: point swing from the last time they played, and Oregon
• 32:12
Speaker 3: they refused to cover ahead. Jamil let him get back
• 32:15
  Speaker 3: into was.
• 32:16
Speaker 4: That you could really tell who did and didn't watch
• 32:18
Speaker 4: that game by the amount of people who said Oregon
• 32:21
Speaker 4: didn't even cover bro. Yeah, they gave up thirty four.
• 32:24
Speaker 4: They gave him five hundred yards of offense. And I said, well,
• 32:27
Speaker 4: the University of Oregon logo gave up thirty four. The
• 32:32
Speaker 4: guys on the field in the second half were very,
• 32:34
Speaker 4: very clean Jersey unfamiliar names because they rolled out their
• 32:38
Speaker 4: twos and threes in the second half, because you are
• 32:40
Speaker 4: so inferior. They treated the second half as like an
• 32:44
Speaker 4: FCS tune up game. Yeah, they treated it like the
• 32:47
Speaker 4: last preseason, like a preseason game before these guys got
• 32:50
Speaker 4: for next year. Yeah, so all due respect, five possession
• 32:54
Speaker 4: lead in the first half was the big takeaway. It's
• 32:56
Speaker 4: thirty four to three before the half, right, Yeah, that's
• 32:59
  Speaker 4: the takeaway.
• 33:00
Speaker 3: Yeah, and your two's score sixteen more points. So is
• 33:05
Speaker 3: it time that we now just move on from G Five's?
• 33:08
Speaker 3: What are we changing the structure in college football? Does
• 33:10
Speaker 3: something actually change going in next year?
• 33:12
  Speaker 2: I think something's got it, something's gotta change. There's been
• 33:14
  Speaker 2: so much.
• 33:14
Speaker 1: Chaos that year that I feel like the structure, I
• 33:18
Speaker 1: like to hope to believe like there's gonna be some.
• 33:19
  Speaker 2: Type of movement.
• 33:20
Speaker 1: Yeah, some type of restructuring, some type of figuring. Out
• 33:23
Speaker 1: a different process because nobody wants to see those games. No,
• 33:27
Speaker 1: you know what I mean, Like, hey, in this structure,
• 33:28
Speaker 1: they deserve that they got in. They were their conference
• 33:30
Speaker 1: championships were right, they were ranked higher than the ACCS once.
• 33:34
Speaker 1: So you know Duke or yeah, Duke doesn't get in.
• 33:36
Speaker 3: Yeah. So we were saying, is based on the structure
• 33:38
Speaker 3: of the collegewable playoff of the teams that I got
• 33:39
Speaker 3: in and should have been in.
• 33:40
Speaker 4: The playoff based on the current rules, Yeah, as they exist.
• 33:45
Speaker 4: Those two teams should have gotten in based on the
• 33:47
Speaker 4: rules as they exist. Question is do we change the rules?
• 33:51
Speaker 2: Do I agree with what what he just said?
• 33:53
Speaker 5: Well, there's no arguing it.
• 33:54
Speaker 1: It's just fact that the G five teams got in
• 33:56
Speaker 1: because of the current structure.
• 33:57
Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm not about the structure of college football. The
• 33:59
Speaker 3: team they got in our we're supposed to get in.
• 34:02
Speaker 3: Are you walking me in the summ No, I'm just
• 34:04
Speaker 3: asking you if you agree with that or not.
• 34:06
Speaker 2: Do I agree with the current structure?
• 34:07
Speaker 3: No, the way the structure was that out the teams
• 34:10
Speaker 3: that we're in were supposed to be because of the
• 34:12
Speaker 3: current ructure. Now we need to change something. Yeah, I
• 34:14
Speaker 3: mean it doesn't matter that we did welcome into something.
• 34:17
Speaker 4: I know what you were doing. I didn't know what
• 34:19
Speaker 4: you were doing at first, but you just made him
• 34:21
  Speaker 4: say roll Tide.
• 34:22
Speaker 3: That's what you made. Miami should have been in Notre Dame.
• 34:27
Speaker 3: We understand why they're out now. I don't agree with the.
• 34:30
Speaker 5: Structure something, but you do want to blow the structure up.
• 34:33
Speaker 5: YEA want to blow the structure up.
• 34:36
Speaker 3: I think we've all been aligned. Are paths to getting
• 34:39
Speaker 3: there were different, but we all believe that the College
• 34:41
Speaker 3: Football Playoff needs to be different next year.
• 34:43
Speaker 4: Most people think that. Most people believe that very few people.
• 34:46
Speaker 4: If we strawhold America college football America, very few people
• 34:50
Speaker 4: are saying I like it exactly how it is right now.
• 34:54
Speaker 3: One of the biggest things that need to change is
• 34:56
Speaker 3: the second round needs to be home home advantage.
• 35:00
Speaker 5: Yeah, I would love to see that.
• 35:01
Speaker 1: I would love to see Texas Tech having a home
• 35:04
Speaker 1: game like the teams they got buys, the teams that
• 35:05
Speaker 1: were one through four, like they get to have a
• 35:07
Speaker 1: home game to come right.
• 35:09
Speaker 3: Because what we saw last year, the team like Oregon
• 35:12
Speaker 3: who had to buy, they were not prepared. They looked
• 35:14
Speaker 3: a little rusty going into their game again by Ohio State, Like,
• 35:17
Speaker 3: now we're gonna get a little tune up game against
• 35:19
Speaker 3: JMU or missing his tune up game. Now they get
• 35:21
Speaker 3: to go in a little more fresh versus these teams
• 35:23
Speaker 3: that advice, and if it goes the same way it
• 35:25
Speaker 3: went last year, it's like they're in a much better
• 35:27
Speaker 3: position play more football.
• 35:29
Speaker 4: To go back to your your thing about the G five,
• 35:32
Speaker 4: like everyone's spoken their peace on it. Then the result
• 35:35
Speaker 4: hits you in the face again the other day and
• 35:36
Speaker 4: you got two blowout games. So I warned you last week.
• 35:40
Speaker 4: I said, if these games are close, there's gonna be
• 35:42
Speaker 4: a ton of bad faith argument out there. Well they
• 35:44
Speaker 4: weren't close, so then this is my opinion, you got
• 35:48
Speaker 4: more bad faith argument or maybe flawed argument on the
• 35:51
  Speaker 4: other side.
• 35:52
Speaker 5: So I like both of you. Don't really love.
• 35:55
Speaker 4: The idea of G five teams just being kind of
• 35:57
Speaker 4: gifted a spot in the playoff doesn't make logical sense
• 36:00
Speaker 4: to me, But I know why it does exist. An
• 36:02
Speaker 4: antig five or anything like that. But I know why
• 36:04
Speaker 4: it exists. But my take on it has never been
• 36:07
Speaker 4: they're going to get blown out. That's why they don't
• 36:09
Speaker 4: belong in. They happen to get blown out because they're
• 36:11
Speaker 4: inferior teams. But whether it was a three point game
• 36:14
Speaker 4: or a three hundred point game, I don't really care.
• 36:16
Speaker 4: I just I talked to you about last week this
• 36:18
Speaker 4: strength of schedule and how I think there's a certain
• 36:20
Speaker 4: bar you should have to clear, and most G five
• 36:22
Speaker 4: schedules do not allow you to do that. It's not
• 36:24
Speaker 4: their fault. That's why I would love a G five playoff.
• 36:26
Speaker 4: Probably what's shocked me the most about this whole era
• 36:30
Speaker 4: is I thought G five fans would be on board
• 36:33
Speaker 4: with the concept of a G five playoff if it
• 36:35
Speaker 4: had like a full financial ambilical cord attached to it,
• 36:39
Speaker 4: Because you say G five playoff, and the first thought is, oh,
• 36:42
Speaker 4: you're choking us off of the big playoff, which means
• 36:44
Speaker 4: we're going to die on the vine over here because
• 36:46
Speaker 4: we don't have enough money to survive. No, I would
• 36:48
Speaker 4: love to just pump money into that thing.
• 36:50
Speaker 2: Yeah. They see it as everybody wanted to put them
• 36:53
Speaker 2: at the kids there.
• 36:53
Speaker 4: Yeah, which that is It's brutally honest, that is what
• 36:56
Speaker 4: you're doing. The reality it is just a tier of
• 36:58
Speaker 4: college football that's beneath the like. So I mean it's
• 37:01
Speaker 4: so stupid to think Louisiana'm Monroe, Louisiana State played the
• 37:03
  Speaker 4: same sport.
• 37:04
  Speaker 5: They don't.
• 37:04
Speaker 4: They play the same sport from a rules perspective, but
• 37:07
Speaker 4: from a resource perspective, we're on opposite sides of the
• 37:10
Speaker 4: Grand Canyon looking at each other. Yeah, okay, so I'm
• 37:15
Speaker 4: always a G five playoff guy. But then I get
• 37:17
Speaker 4: pushed back on that, so like, I'm okay, I don't.
• 37:20
Speaker 4: It's not like I'm hard and fast on that. That's
• 37:22
Speaker 4: just how I'd like to see it because it makes
• 37:23
Speaker 4: sense to me. But if you're not agreeing on that,
• 37:27
Speaker 4: what is your proposal? And I had a lot of
• 37:29
Speaker 4: people say, all right, my proposal is G five teams
• 37:32
Speaker 4: should only get in if they're ranked in the top twelve.
• 37:35
Speaker 5: I'd be totally fine with that. I'd be totally fine
• 37:38
  Speaker 5: with that.
• 37:38
Speaker 4: The question becomes, if you don't give them a guaranteed
• 37:41
Speaker 4: seat at the table but there are automatic bids for
• 37:44
Speaker 4: other conference champs, do you run the risk of a lawsuit?
• 37:48
Speaker 4: And then the third thing that I started to see
• 37:50
Speaker 4: some people broach this past weekend for the first time
• 37:52
Speaker 4: is what if there is a lawsuit? What if you
• 37:55
Speaker 4: just let them, take you to court, lose the battle,
• 37:58
Speaker 4: pay the check, and then about it however you want
• 38:01
Speaker 4: to anyway. So there are a lot of different thoughts
• 38:03
  Speaker 4: out there.
• 38:03
Speaker 3: Yeah, and you're in your opinion what is the fastest
• 38:06
Speaker 3: way or the best way to fix it. And it
• 38:08
Speaker 3: has to be legally, it doesn't have to be legal.
• 38:12
Speaker 4: You got to basically just decide whatever your structure is
• 38:16
Speaker 4: going to be, twelve team, sixteen teams, whatever. I think
• 38:18
Speaker 4: they're always going to have one spot. I think they're
• 38:20
Speaker 4: always going to have one guaranteed spot at the table.
• 38:22
Speaker 4: I assume that that's probably not going anywhere unless and
• 38:27
Speaker 4: this is why I go to the G five playoff thing.
• 38:29
Speaker 4: If you created a separate playoff and there was the
• 38:32
Speaker 4: promise of a huge payday in that playoff, that's the
• 38:35
Speaker 4: only thing that I theoretically believe could convince G five
• 38:39
Speaker 4: presidents and athletic directors to look at it.
• 38:41
Speaker 5: I don't know if they would do it.
• 38:42
Speaker 4: But if you put out this not an idea, but
• 38:44
Speaker 4: like a fully formed plan, here's the media partner, here
• 38:48
Speaker 4: are the major advertisers. Here's the payoff, here's the subsidy.
• 38:52
  Speaker 4: Here's what you're gonna get if you're in it. Here's
• 38:53
Speaker 4: what you're gonna get if you win it. Everyone's going
• 38:55
Speaker 4: to get something. You're not gonna die on the vine
• 38:57
Speaker 4: over here because you got detached from the main playoff.
• 39:00
Speaker 4: Once the money part's taken care of, then you tell
• 39:03
Speaker 4: JMU or Tu Lane you're gonna compete in a tournament
• 39:06
Speaker 4: where you can actually win. Like right now, Jmu's goal
• 39:10
Speaker 4: is get to the playoffs so I can get beheaded.
• 39:12
Speaker 4: To Lane's goal, like they're north Star is we can
• 39:15
Speaker 4: get into the playoff so we can get annihilated. So
• 39:18
Speaker 4: it's never made sense to me, but g five folks,
• 39:20
Speaker 4: many of them will look you straight in the eye
• 39:22
Speaker 4: and say, Nope, would much rather have that than our
• 39:24
  Speaker 4: own separate tournament.
• 39:25
Speaker 2: Yeah, even the level of separation too.
• 39:28
Speaker 1: Like everybody on Jmu's roster or Tu Lane's roster, even
• 39:32
Speaker 1: though they're going in to get beheaded in the Costwall playoffs.
• 39:34
Speaker 1: Basically everybody's goal in that building is play well enough
• 39:39
Speaker 1: to then get picked up by from somebody bigger.
• 39:41
Speaker 5: You know what I mean.
• 39:41
Speaker 1: It's like, hey, we got into the playoff this year,
• 39:44
Speaker 1: can't wait for all of us to come back like
• 39:45
Speaker 1: strengthen this if we get an il. We're coming back
• 39:48
Speaker 1: JMU two lane, We're coming for blood next year. Yeah,
• 39:51
Speaker 1: you know what I mean. Even if they were to win,
• 39:53
Speaker 1: you know, they probably never win a game, but if
• 39:55
Speaker 1: they won a game.
• 39:56
Speaker 3: You can see them winning a game.
• 39:57
Speaker 1: Let's just say they wont a game in a simulation,
• 40:00
Speaker 1: then the mindset for everybody still on that team is
• 40:04
  Speaker 1: the exact same.
• 40:05
Speaker 5: Can kill them out.
• 40:06
Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, we're trying to level up.
• 40:07
Speaker 1: Like every coach is trying to get a bigger job,
• 40:09
Speaker 1: every player is trying to get plucked by somebody from
• 40:11
  Speaker 1: the P four.
• 40:12
Speaker 4: Now Here's what the intellectually dishonest counter argument would be. Okay,
• 40:17
Speaker 4: isn't every kid that may play for TCU trying to
• 40:20
Speaker 4: do that for Texas?
• 40:21
Speaker 5: Isn't every kid that plays.
• 40:23
Speaker 4: At I don't know, like Arkansas trying to do that
• 40:29
Speaker 4: for Alabama? Like people will say that the answer is yes.
• 40:33
Speaker 4: The difference is you've got to at some point pool
• 40:37
Speaker 4: teams based on some kind of comparability. The comparability is resource.
• 40:42
Speaker 4: That's just like when people say, well, yeah JMU got
• 40:45
Speaker 4: blown out against Oregon, but Tennessee got blown out against
• 40:48
Speaker 4: Ohio State last year. Does that mean Tennessee doesn't belong
• 40:51
Speaker 4: in the playoff, which is one reason I don't track
• 40:53
Speaker 4: in that argument because they can get you on that. No,
• 40:55
Speaker 4: it doesn't mean that. Because Tennessee has comparable resources to
• 40:59
Speaker 4: Ohio State, they have athletes that can compete on the
• 41:02
Speaker 4: field with Ohio State. Like, yes, they got blown out
• 41:04
Speaker 4: in that game. The difference is if you play that
• 41:06
Speaker 4: game one hundred times, there's some very competitive games. There's
• 41:09
Speaker 4: some Tennessee wins in there, believe it or not. There
• 41:12
Speaker 4: are no JMU wins over Oregon. And it's not because
• 41:16
Speaker 4: you don't believe in them or think they should have
• 41:18
Speaker 4: a shot. It's because there is a certain facet like
• 41:20
Speaker 4: there's a certain level in football where it's a non starter.
• 41:25
Speaker 4: Like it's I call it the freeze point. A lot
• 41:27
Speaker 4: of times water if it's thirty three degrees or one
• 41:30
Speaker 4: hundred and three degrees will not freeze. It has to
• 41:33
Speaker 4: be thirty two point four or lower thirty two six,
• 41:36
Speaker 4: whatever it is before it freezes. Those rosters don't meet
• 41:39
Speaker 4: the freeze point, they don't even get close to meeting
• 41:41
Speaker 4: the freeze point. And so like I just think that
• 41:44
Speaker 4: if you're looking at an Arkansas Alabama versus a jmu Organ,
• 41:49
Speaker 4: you're intellectually dishonest if you're making that argument, because even
• 41:51
Speaker 4: if you're making the argument, you know, Arkansas Alabama versus
• 41:55
Speaker 4: JMU Organ are totally different classifications of quote unquote separation.
• 42:01
Speaker 4: You got to classify teams and group teams. At some point,
• 42:03
Speaker 4: there's going to be a worst and a best in
• 42:06
Speaker 4: any bubble. The difference is if the bubble's thirty teams
• 42:09
Speaker 4: deep versus one hundred and thirty teams deep, that first
• 42:12
Speaker 4: bubble makes a lot more sense to me.
• 42:15
Speaker 5: Okay, which jacket does notre dame fall in?
• 42:18
Speaker 2: Which tournament did they get in?
• 42:20
Speaker 5: I would put them in the head bubble.
• 42:21
Speaker 4: I would just make them earn their way in like
• 42:22
Speaker 4: everyone else, which they didn't this last time.
• 42:26
Speaker 5: But they got a new Uh we wrote a new
• 42:28
Speaker 5: law for them right to get in. Yeah.
• 42:29
  Speaker 3: No, that's a great law. It's a great law.
• 42:33
  Speaker 5: It's interesting.
• 42:34
Speaker 2: Okay, everybody that played.
• 42:37
  Speaker 3: Yeah, let's play the game where there's a G five.
• 42:39
  Speaker 3: There's a G five tournament every single year. Ye let's
• 42:42
Speaker 3: say one school will just say JMU or two lane
• 42:46
Speaker 3: win that tournament like five or eight out of ten.
• 42:49
Speaker 4: Years, just like the FCS in North Dakota State.
• 42:51
Speaker 3: Right, and they're just over and over, always crushing it.
• 42:54
Speaker 3: And then you have like the lower SEC Big ten
• 42:57
Speaker 3: schools that are constantly at the bottle over and over again.
• 43:01
  Speaker 3: Is there a.
• 43:02
Speaker 5: Relegation promotion and relegation?
• 43:04
Speaker 3: Is there is there a world that you would want
• 43:05
  Speaker 3: to live in?
• 43:06
Speaker 4: Yeah, I'll tell you what else I would love to do.
• 43:08
Speaker 4: I would love that to exist. I would also love
• 43:10
Speaker 4: I think they do this in European soccer. I know
• 43:12
Speaker 4: nothing about European soccer. They do promotion relegation. What they
• 43:15
Speaker 4: also do is pay I forget what the term is.
• 43:18
  Speaker 5: But it's a fee.
• 43:19
Speaker 4: Basically, if you're JMU and I'm Oregon and I take
• 43:23
Speaker 4: five of your players, I am paying a penalty to
• 43:26
Speaker 4: you to take those players from you, which I've always
• 43:28
Speaker 4: thought should exist. Right now, it's a joke what P
• 43:32
Speaker 4: four does to the G five, But it's also a
• 43:34
Speaker 4: joke what the G five does to FCS. It's not
• 43:37
Speaker 4: like this is a this is a one way street
• 43:38
Speaker 4: here like the G five.
• 43:39
Speaker 5: I was talking to a guy.
• 43:40
Speaker 4: From Mercer the other day, which is just a FCS
• 43:43
Speaker 4: school in Macon, Georgia, but they're pretty good.
• 43:45
Speaker 5: They go play the.
• 43:46
Speaker 4: Big boys every year, take their check, take their beating.
• 43:48
Speaker 4: He laid out their roster and which players have been
• 43:52
Speaker 4: poached and what they're being offered. And it's like Georgia
• 43:55
Speaker 4: State came and got this kid, Troy came and got
• 43:57
Speaker 4: these kids, UAB came and got these kids.
• 43:59
Speaker 5: So the G five the same thing.
• 44:00
Speaker 4: It's just much less talked about because no one cares
• 44:02
Speaker 4: about the FCS relative to talking about P four G five.
• 44:06
Speaker 4: I would love for there to be a restitution structure
• 44:09
Speaker 4: anytime you're taking talent, because that's really what in the
• 44:13
Speaker 4: long run, could reinvest in those programs and help them
• 44:17
Speaker 4: level up to where eventually they're consistently good, they can
• 44:19
Speaker 4: retain their players, and then if they're good enough, they
• 44:22
Speaker 4: can be promoted up a level. And if you suck
• 44:25
Speaker 4: at that upper level, you're not taking advantage of your resources.
• 44:27
Speaker 4: You could fall down the ladder. Now I just said
• 44:29
Speaker 4: that in like two minutes. That's very easy. You got
• 44:32
Speaker 4: so many spider webs to untangle there with conference affiliation,
• 44:36
Speaker 4: not to name the other few, to where yeah, it's
• 44:38
Speaker 4: very difficult to make that a rule or make that
• 44:41
  Speaker 4: the new structure.
• 44:42
Speaker 5: But we're just playing perfect Unicorn world here.
• 44:45
Speaker 2: Right, Yeah, we got a blank we got a we
• 44:47
Speaker 2: got a blank sheet. Yeah I want.
• 44:52
Speaker 1: Yeah for me, it's just that everybody who loves college football,
• 44:56
Speaker 1: the sport is becoming more and more popular every year.
• 44:58
Speaker 2: A lot of people, Hey, it's my favorite sport to watch.
• 45:01
Speaker 1: Just when you're looking at the playoffs, this is the
• 45:03
Speaker 1: most you know, competitive, you want the most competitive tournament
• 45:07
Speaker 1: possible in our favorite sport that we're all watch.
• 45:09
Speaker 5: Yeah, that vibe Saturday night was bad.
• 45:11
Speaker 1: Yeah, it's like the Oregon organ JMU and then Tulane
• 45:15
  Speaker 1: O miss Like you're watching A and M Miami. You're
• 45:18
Speaker 1: watching Bama Oklahoma and then the other games, like you're
• 45:21
Speaker 1: checking into see is there even gonna be a fighting shot?
• 45:23
Speaker 1: Oh it's thirty four to three. I don't even care
• 45:26
Speaker 1: to watch the rest of this football. Oh, Jami, you
• 45:28
Speaker 1: ended up putting thirty four points on the board. I
• 45:30
Speaker 1: wonder if it wass it gets backed ups whatever it is. Yeah,
• 45:32
Speaker 1: but you're not you just you don't care to watch
• 45:34
Speaker 1: those games at all. And like, imagine the world. I know,
• 45:37
Speaker 1: obviously I spout about the Notre Dame stuff, but imagine
• 45:40
Speaker 1: Notre Dame BYU or Vaney that would have been in
• 45:42
Speaker 1: the playoff or in some of these games this year.
• 45:44
Speaker 2: Yeah, you're like tuned in, excited to see what's what's
• 45:46
  Speaker 2: gonna go down.
• 45:47
Speaker 3: Because they're watching real conferences, real independence that say hey,
• 45:50
Speaker 3: we're just as big as the big dogs. We're gonna
• 45:52
Speaker 3: go prove ourselves because everybody wants to see the power forwards,
• 45:55
Speaker 3: like who is the best at the end of this year.
• 45:57
Speaker 3: We're gonna have the conversations wherever it was the national championship, whatever,
• 46:00
Speaker 3: if it's Big ten SEC, We're all gonna sit there
• 46:02
Speaker 3: and be like, this is the best conference. Now, top
• 46:04
Speaker 3: the top of the top is the best conference. You're
• 46:06
Speaker 3: not getting that without getting like Vanderbilt to go to Oregon,
• 46:09
Speaker 3: Like that would have been a game I think we
• 46:10
Speaker 3: all tuned into. Hell, we even maybe go to because
• 46:13
Speaker 3: we have multiple dogs in that fight. And then we
• 46:16
Speaker 3: make the trip to Eugene over going to a M Miami, right,
• 46:20
Speaker 3: because you're right, there was two games this weekend. Everything
• 46:23
Speaker 3: else was, Hey, congratulations.
• 46:25
Speaker 1: If there happened to be that G five team that
• 46:27
Speaker 1: is ranked in the top fifteen, Top twelve Cincinnati from
• 46:29
Speaker 1: five years ago, Yeah, like you're still you'd be curious cycle.
• 46:32
Speaker 1: Let's see if they can they can rock with the
• 46:33
Speaker 1: big dogs. Yeah, if they do, it's much more entertaining
• 46:36
Speaker 1: and fun to watch. It's just we all knew how
• 46:38
Speaker 1: these games were going to go down.
• 46:39
  Speaker 2: Over the world.
• 46:39
Speaker 4: It's always obvious when AG five team actually belongs in
• 46:43
Speaker 4: the playoff. There have been several Bois's, a couple of ucfs,
• 46:47
Speaker 4: that Cincinnati team from just a few years back before
• 46:49
Speaker 4: they joined the Big Twelve. Those teams Cincinnati made the
• 46:53
Speaker 4: four team playoff, and I remember like vividly saying, yeah,
• 46:57
Speaker 4: I think they belong in. I didn't push back on it.
• 46:59
  Speaker 4: It's not like you're blanketly anti G five. It's you
• 47:02
  Speaker 4: want deserving teams.
• 47:03
  Speaker 5: In the playoffs.
• 47:04
Speaker 4: The other thing is I don't believe in comparing basketball
• 47:07
Speaker 4: to football at all. But for the people who do
• 47:09
Speaker 4: go down that road of comparing the NCAA tournament and
• 47:11
Speaker 4: March Madness to the college football playoff, and they're like this, man,
• 47:14
  Speaker 4: we want to.
• 47:14
Speaker 5: Cinderell lah blah blah blah.
• 47:17
Speaker 4: I enjoy watching like a George Mason go up against
• 47:21
Speaker 4: Duke in the first round. Point spread maybe twenty four
• 47:23
Speaker 4: and a half. But there is something in the back
• 47:25
Speaker 4: of my mind that tells me this could happen. It's unlikely,
• 47:28
Speaker 4: but it could happen. And also I enjoy watching the
• 47:31
Speaker 4: kids have that experience. There is nothing fun to me
• 47:35
Speaker 4: about watching JMU or Tulane be on the same field
• 47:39
Speaker 4: in any kind of competitive playoff environment with legit like
• 47:44
Speaker 4: top ten caliber Big ten and SEC teams. And the
• 47:47
Speaker 4: other dirty secret from the past. Two dirty secrets from
• 47:50
Speaker 4: the past. The first dirty secret is most of the
• 47:52
Speaker 4: great G five teams people use in these arguments to
• 47:55
Speaker 4: prop up the G five will never exist again because
• 47:58
Speaker 4: all the talent got rated in the modern acte number two.
• 48:02
Speaker 4: And this is one that gets pushed back, but I
• 48:03
Speaker 4: don't care because I know it's true. Most of the
• 48:06
Speaker 4: examples people use Utah, Alabama, UCF, Auburn, whatever the case
• 48:11
Speaker 4: may be. It was a G five team playing their
• 48:13
Speaker 4: Super Bowl against some SEC or Big ten team that
• 48:17
Speaker 4: missed out on their goal, and now they're playing a
• 48:19
Speaker 4: consolation bowl game, so you got disproportionate motivation and buy
• 48:23
Speaker 4: in this last weekend is actually what it looks like
• 48:26
Speaker 4: when a G five inferior opponent gets the full focus
• 48:29
Speaker 4: of a power program. That's what that actually looks like
• 48:33
Speaker 4: I had an Auburn kid in twenty seventeen. They beat
• 48:37
Speaker 4: Alabama and Georgia. Then they go to the SEC championship game,
• 48:40
Speaker 4: Kerrie and Johnson's hurt. They get beat by Georgia, and
• 48:45
Speaker 4: they go from thinking they're going to go to the
• 48:46
Speaker 4: playoff or whatever win the SEC to they're going to
• 48:48
Speaker 4: play in the Peach Bowl against UCF. I had one
• 48:51
Speaker 4: of the kids telling me this is not one of
• 48:53
Speaker 4: the six biggest games of our season. UCF has a
• 48:56
Speaker 4: banner in their building because they won that game. Yeah,
• 48:59
Speaker 4: just to give you a idea of how different that was, said, Yeah.
• 49:04
Speaker 3: I think we covered it. Yeah, is there anything boys
• 49:07
Speaker 3: we miss? Anything in the back here, Jared? I know
• 49:10
Speaker 3: you big colforotball guys. Everything you got. Shout out, shout
• 49:13
Speaker 3: out Alaholma, thank you for the hot dogs, Thank you
• 49:16
Speaker 3: for the hot dogs. YEP.
• 49:19
Speaker 1: As an observer of the weekend, it was like, I'm
• 49:21
Speaker 1: sitting there, I'm hearing about what happened to the boys,
• 49:23
Speaker 1: what happened to my boys. Then I see Pete's got
• 49:27
Speaker 1: his Rollerdex of content coming out where he's.
• 49:28
Speaker 2: On the field. All those things, I'm like, damn, and all.
• 49:34
Speaker 3: The things all the things that went down. I'm sitting
• 49:38
Speaker 3: there at the end, we're flying back. Jared's sleeping with
• 49:40
Speaker 3: his mouth wide open. JP and are having a good conversation,
• 49:43
Speaker 3: and I'm just thinking, the one time Will doesn't come
• 49:46
Speaker 3: with us, it all falls apart. It's where I'm gonna
• 49:49
Speaker 3: have to go and tell club what happened, tell ESPN
• 49:52
Speaker 3: what happened. And I'm gonna have to get on the
• 49:53
Speaker 3: phone with the Will and be like, this is what happened,
• 49:56
  Speaker 3: and it sucked.
• 49:57
Speaker 1: I see my boys just in the top road like
• 50:00
Speaker 1: the wind blow and eating popcorn. And then I go
• 50:02
Speaker 1: to Pet's timeline and he's in the backstage betting the dog.
• 50:06
Speaker 5: He bet it up.
• 50:07
Speaker 2: Yeah, he didn't get the red carpet rolled out.
• 50:09
Speaker 5: He's you know what, we know.
• 50:12
Speaker 3: It's good for us with the boys though, is this
• 50:14
Speaker 3: has been twenty twenty five has been an incredible year
• 50:16
Speaker 3: for us. It's been awesome. I mean our relationship, the
• 50:20
Speaker 3: locker room, the traveling, all the things doing ESPN. We
• 50:24
Speaker 3: have been like Icarus, dude. We have been flying towards
• 50:27
Speaker 3: the sun. It was about damn time we fell a
• 50:29
Speaker 3: little bit. So actually shout out Oklahoma because we needed
• 50:32
Speaker 3: a good humbling. We needed it.
• 50:35
Speaker 2: Go ahead on the on that topic. On the flight there,
• 50:38
Speaker 2: do you remember you just being like, man, everything is perfect?
• 50:42
  Speaker 3: Could yes?
• 50:43
  Speaker 2: And it was.
• 50:44
Speaker 3: It wasn't the flight to Oklahoma. It was a fight
• 50:46
Speaker 3: from Oklahoma after everything happened. And I'm thinking, dealt with
• 50:49
Speaker 3: a bad bad egg like that happens sometimes. And I'm
• 50:52
Speaker 3: like sitting there reflecting with all the boys, like how
• 50:54
Speaker 3: cool has this year been? And it feels like every
• 50:57
Speaker 3: year is its own, like whole lifetime that takes place. Yeah,
• 51:01
Speaker 3: and we're all like kind of shaking her heads and
• 51:02
Speaker 3: being like, yeah, dude, it's awesome. Go to sleep, wake up.
• 51:05
Speaker 3: Hell is taking place. And I literally have somebody from
• 51:09
Speaker 3: ESPN saying what people said about you guys in Oklahoma.
• 51:12
Speaker 3: They reference it to a terrorist attack.
• 51:15
Speaker 5: I can't believe you can even fly. You should be
• 51:17
Speaker 5: able to list right now.
• 51:19
Speaker 2: Taylor's sleeping, the boys are sleeping.
• 51:22
Speaker 3: I'm jumping my bad dude, and I'm like, oh, this
• 51:25
Speaker 3: is a good humbling for us, Like we stay in
• 51:28
Speaker 3: Ritz Carlton for this, let's get in this holiday, like, oh,
• 51:31
Speaker 3: we're everyone's great beds are actually relatively comfortable to sit there.
• 51:36
  Speaker 2: Wake up.
• 51:37
Speaker 3: Ah, decent night's sleep.
• 51:39
Speaker 5: Look at my phone.
• 51:40
Speaker 2: Hell grenade great, Hell.
• 51:44
Speaker 4: I gotta tell you. I gotta tell you. I told
• 51:46
Speaker 4: you allfare I'm gonna tell you on air. I'm at
• 51:48
Speaker 4: Oklahoma fair amount. I storm Chase in Oklahoma National Weather
• 51:52
Speaker 4: Services on the campus of the University of Oklahoma. So
• 51:55
Speaker 4: me and Oklahoma. So I vouched for Oklahoma. However I
• 52:00
Speaker 4: vouch for you as well. And so I think, probably
• 52:03
Speaker 4: from a mediator standpoint, I got work to do. Maybe
• 52:07
Speaker 4: I take this personally. Maybe this is kind of on me.
• 52:09
Speaker 4: I haven't taken responsibility for anything on the show all year,
• 52:12
Speaker 4: so maybe it's time. Maybe it's time for me to
• 52:16
Speaker 4: take my first l So I'm gonna fix this. I
• 52:19
Speaker 4: gotta find a way to fix it.
• 52:21
Speaker 3: I'm gonna tell you our game plan. We've said our peace.
• 52:23
Speaker 3: I'm not gonna sit back and pretend like it never
• 52:25
Speaker 3: happened until somebody. I'm just gonna sit in the pocket now.
• 52:28
Speaker 3: I'm be like, hopef we gets figured out. It's not
• 52:30
Speaker 3: we're stressing about Christmas shopping to do or I'm like
• 52:33
Speaker 3: kind of stressed about that.
