It's still up. Welcome everybody. Welcome. So this week's Editionisto Realta Show
0:21
Episode number seven, eleven September twenty eight T Doctor twenty three, Welcome to
0:28
your NXT no mercy in eight and w rest three preview and prediction edition of
0:33
ass r T with You. I am one after show. I am Jeff
0:39
Peck. Typically joined every single week on my cost one only doctor Trey Franklin.
0:44
I typically asked Doctor Trey, what is up, my friend? But
0:48
no Doctor Trey right now. This is just a solo show with yours truly
0:53
here on this week's edition of s r T. You for those of you
0:59
that have been long time I'm fans of this podcast. From time to time
1:02
we do a solo show. It's it's kind of like an old school sports
1:06
radio type edition of SRTU where I just talk to myself and y'all listen.
1:11
I give my thoughts while we're recording, obviously duh. And then at the
1:17
end of the show, I say thanks for listening, I hang up the
1:19
podcast I stopped recording, and you guys go on your merry way with the
1:26
rest of your day and listen to whatever podcasts that come your way next,
1:30
So solo edition of SRTU seven eleven. Of course September twenty eight, twenty
1:36
twenty three, no Mercy preview predictions, aw Wressell Dream preview and predictions.
1:41
So yeah, we'll cover professional wresting as best we can here on a one
1:44
man solo show edition of SRTU, and of course we we kick things off
1:49
with what I deem to be the biggest story, one of the biggest stories
1:53
this week, as MWe officially has signed former AW TBS champions and Jade Cargill
2:01
to a contract. It was announced on ESPN. ESPN broke the news that
2:07
Jade card Gill had signed with WWW on a multi year deal. They broke
2:12
it on Tuesday morning around ten am or so. Mark Rimaldi from ESPN broke
2:19
the story, and uh, you know, we had heard rumors that Jade
2:23
was going to be heading to WWE from AW. That she wrapped up that
2:28
loss that she had with Chris Statlander on Rampage and rematch from the TBS Championship
2:31
match, The Hug, the Goodbye, that that was her swansong in AW
2:37
and that ended a little over a two year run in All Elite wrestling.
2:44
She has always come off as someone that was like a WWE talent in all
2:50
elite wrestling, So I don't think it's it's too surprising that she has officially
2:54
landed in WWW. You know, Jade card Gill is a star. Like
3:02
visually you can see like, this is someone that can be in professional wrestling
3:07
in five for five years, and then after those five years could hit Hollywood
3:12
and become one of the biggest action stars, movie stars, what have you
3:16
in the world of entertainment. If Jade card Gill wanted to host a daytime
3:23
talk show, I could see it. If she wanted to compete in a
3:28
reality TV show like Survivor, I could see it. If she was the
3:32
co leading lady in some badass action movie that hits the summer months, I
3:38
could totally see it. Jade Cardgill is an absolute star. The professional wrestling
3:46
has definitely had our critiques as a wrestling fan. It's always difficult for me
3:53
in a chair that does a podcast and be like, yeah, you know,
3:54
you could tell that she's a little bit green because I've never wrestled in
3:57
my life and she has more athleticism her pinky than I do in my entire
4:00
body. But it's obviously visible for a long time wrestling fans that from an
4:05
in ring standpoint, she's not a fully complete package, but from an outside
4:12
visual standpoint, she is. As a character. She's great when she gets
4:16
on the microphone, cuts a damn good promos. She's phenomenal, and she
4:21
has been a figurehead for all elite wrestling in these last two years, especially
4:26
in the Win's division. I mean, it was just always poised that when
4:30
they gave her the undefeated streak, when they gave her the TBS championship,
4:34
when she held it as long as she did, it was like, all
4:36
right, how are they going to get this title off of versea that she
4:39
gets a run as the ad AW Women's World Champion. That was always the
4:44
vibe that I got. I thought that she would be an AW for a
4:46
longer period of time than she was and then would potentially make the switch over
4:53
to WWW. I think the timelines happened a lot faster than any of us
4:58
would expect, and WWW is getting a talent that maybe under their umbrella working
5:06
out at the performance center, working at with some of the producers or some
5:14
of the other women in the on the roster, could become a finished phenomenal
5:19
talent when her current WE contract comes to an end. This to me,
5:29
has really big ramifications in the w w E, AW battle for supremacy and
5:35
professional wrestling that we don't really talk about or want to talk about. Both
5:41
promotions say they don't want to talk about, even though sometimes each of them
5:44
do. But this is a huge get for WE from AW because this is
5:51
the first homegrown AW talent that has jumped over to the w E side,
6:00
and to me, the biggest thing in this all. And we talked about
6:03
this several years ago when Cody made the jump to WE was our Cody's quote,
6:11
guys, are his people? Are they going to be starting to come
6:15
over to w w WE once they see how successful Cody Rhodes has been,
6:19
or is there are other talents that may not be quote Cody's people that are
6:23
looking and saying, man, he's been so successful AW, I've maybe hit
6:28
a ceiling or I've only reached a certain amount of money that I can make
6:32
and some many eyes that I can that can see me. Do I go
6:35
over to the competition? Do I go over to w WE? And will
6:38
I have the same success or do I get buried? I think Cody showed
6:42
that you won't be buried. Instead, you will be pushed up the chain
6:47
as is maybe the number one guy in the company right now on the baby
6:50
face side, and that's very appealing. So Jade Cargill, who is close
6:59
with Cody Rhodes, saw what was going on and made that jump, she
7:03
said in an interview with The Ringer via Wrestling Inc. Cargill Quote. Cargill
7:09
then confirmed that Cody Rhodes, who was instrumental in bringing her to aw in
7:12
twenty twenty, played an equally vital role in persuading her to leave Tony CON's
7:15
promotion for WE. Cargill believes Rhodes laid out the blueprint for others looking to
7:20
jump from AWWE. Following his return at Wrestling thirty eight, twenty twenty two,
7:27
Jade said, he's a phenomenal man. I've seen what the business did
7:30
for him. I've seen him just be the stellt athlete that he is.
7:34
I didn't see it any different for myself, but yes, he was one
7:38
of the guys that led me to a great decision. So here's Jade Cargill
7:42
flat out saying I saw the success that Cody Rhodes had leaving AW the competition
7:46
and going to w E, and it's something that I want to do.
7:49
It's something that I want to sink my teeth into and have the same success.
7:54
And if there's anybody that was in AW on September one, including Jade
7:58
Cargill, that could have that same equal success in WI, there's only handful
8:03
of them. Jade Cargill is one of them, and I fully believe that
8:07
her time in w will be very successful. I think you could already pencil
8:13
her in as someone that will be in a top WrestleMania spotlight in six months
8:20
from now in Philadelphia. Unless she herself holds herself back, I think the
8:26
sky's the limit for Jade Cargill. But again, the big news here is
8:31
Cody Rhodes. Cody helped bring her into WWE. Jade saw Cody success like
8:41
AW has made so many major signings away from w whether the releases or people
8:46
that their contracts rolled off, whether b Adam Cole Moxley, Brian Danielson,
8:50
They've made a lot, and those people have made just as equal of an
8:54
impact. Cody is the one name that came from AW to WWE, and
9:00
I thought that was a really big played move by awor excuse me, WA
9:07
to take him because they wanted to show that what you may think in AW
9:13
about w E has changed. You can be a star over in AW and
9:18
when you come over here, look at what happened with Cody. It was
9:20
a very calculated signing, a very calculated move, and the creative behind Cody
9:26
has been very calculated because it's it's opening the door to potential, not only
9:31
Jade Cargill, but others. And we could talk about some of those others
9:33
here in just a second. So I thought that move was very telling.
9:37
And now here's the first domino effect. Jade Cargill, one of Cody's people,
9:43
jumped from AW to w A. Somebody who's been a homegrown talent in
9:48
AW did not know about her pre AW and I actually had a tryout,
9:52
did not get signed by w A, and here she is successful in AW.
9:58
Karen then over to w E and we rolled out literally the red carpet
10:01
for her signing, something we have not seen them do for any signings in
10:07
quite some time. Cargill an interview with ESPN once again via Wrestling Ink,
10:11
on Cody being one of her top three reasons to join WWE, She said,
10:16
quote top three reasons, and Cody Rhodes was top two. Cargill said,
10:20
Cody is a phenomenal wrestler, He's a phenomenal father. He's very honest,
10:24
even when he has to get brutal with it. I respect Cody,
10:26
I respect him trusting the system, and when I first came into AW was
10:31
one of the few people that sat me down and was honest with me about
10:33
this entire industry. And I appreciated that. So one thing I'm not going
10:37
to do is let him down. I'm a come in here and do the
10:39
work and show them why I'm a great pick. Again. Jade Cargill is
10:43
flat out saying Cody Rhodes is one of the reasons why I'm there. I
10:48
don't know what the top three other reasons were that she listed. Maybe it's
10:52
the ceiling, the doors that open up by coming to w E put her
10:56
top three reasons. At least the top two. One of them was Cody
11:00
being there, So here we are again the domino effect. Cody's people.
11:05
Who are some of those others that that stick out? I think if you
11:07
go back to his farewell speech in AW, he mentions Jade. Who else
11:11
is in there? Maxwell Jacob Freban MJF the current AW World champion. Where
11:16
will he go come January? I think how I feel right now in September,
11:22
the way that he's being booked, in the way that he has talked
11:24
about and carried that company, it would lead me to believe that he has
11:28
either resigned or is planning on resigning with AW, because it's like, why
11:31
would you talk about that engine that could and not stick with the company.
11:37
Ricky Starks is another Cody Rhodes person. He was backstage at the Rumble twenty
11:43
twenty three. We saw the mostly probably saw the security cambradge footage. He
11:48
was there support Cody Rhodes. Wardlow is another guy that is someone that is
11:52
under that Cody Rhodes banner. If you will you know, and I think
11:58
from a behind the scene standpoint, I was kind of surprised that QTM Marshall,
12:01
who is one of Tony Kahn's right hand men behind the scenes, was
12:07
not in line for potentially joining W. I know he just signed a short
12:11
term extension. I don't know if that leads to a long term extension,
12:16
but I wouldn't be surprised if QT Marshall from a behind the scene standpoint,
12:20
who still co runs the Nightmare Factory with Cody Rhodes, could end up in
12:24
WW at some point. So, you know, I think those are some
12:28
of the big names right there, Ricky Stark's MJF. Wardlow as folks that
12:33
could be jumping over from AW to WE. Next year's contracts is already being
12:39
shaped up as one of the biggest contract years ever in professional wrestling. W
12:46
RE signed a ton of people five years ago in twenty nineteen when AW launched
12:50
to prevent them from going to AW. So now that aw A is a
12:52
formable competition to them that offers equal, if not more money to WW,
12:58
folks are going to start potentially make in that jump. I think I saw
13:00
the names of like Becky Lynch, Shamus, we all know about Edge,
13:05
Drew McIntyre, who's getting a little bit of a push lately. These are
13:07
folks that could be available on the w E side, we'll WWE sign them
13:11
up, or will AW swoop in and take some shots at the Armor of
13:18
w E as well, And then on the AW side, obviously the big
13:20
one is m JF. To me, that would be a crushing blow,
13:28
but I don't think it's out of the remo possibility because to me, Jade
13:31
Cargill, for the longest time, sans maybe Britt Baker was always positioned that
13:37
company as the number one A or one B woman on the roster. She
13:41
was a homegrown talent. She's someone that you did not know about pre aw
13:46
again and here she is two years later, a superstar signed with w E
13:50
and the sky is the absolute limit for her. So it's an exciting move
13:56
for WWE. It's former aw star. To me, that felt like a
14:01
WE talent in that in all elite wrestling, and I think this is a
14:07
good fit for her. I think this is a great fit for WWE,
14:11
and if all the only thing really is if she can fine tune that in
14:18
ring ability. I think Jade Cardial is going to be an absolute star for
14:22
World Wrestling Entertainment going forward. So big signing by WWE obviously a blow to
14:26
a w but they'll recover. I mean they always do, just like WWE
14:31
always recovers when they lose a big name as well. But being that WWE
14:35
has only had so few many top aw names come over to their way,
14:39
this is this is a big blow. You know, Cody and Jade are
14:45
are in the WWE banner and that's that's why all to think about it,
14:48
especially three years ago when this all started. I think she made her debut
14:52
probably like November twenty twenty to set up that match in February twenty twenty one,
14:56
Mark twenty twenty one where it was Cody and Brand versus Shack and Jay.
15:01
That was her introduction. So great run so far for Jade Cargill.
15:07
Again, if she could just fine tune that in ring ability, Uh,
15:11
nobody is going to stop that ceiling. I think sky's the absolute limit for
15:15
Jade Cargill. It's funny because we've often compared her to Tiffany Stratton over an
15:20
NXT, who is starting to pick things up lately as well and is not
15:24
looking as green as she has as of late. So it's the while that
15:30
that women's roster and rold wrest Entertainment is top down an absolute all star roster
15:37
from SmackDown a Raw to NXT. They're they're really putting it together and hopefully
15:41
that pushes AW to do the same because there's a lot of great women wrestlers
15:46
in AW and we just hope that they can give us this equal entertainment and
15:50
entering product that we see from the w w E side as well. One
15:56
thing that was obviously big last week, I think it was announced last Friday,
16:02
so post recording, of course, w WE had one of those days
16:06
where it's always unfortunate where talent have been released and cut from their contract.
16:12
W made several cuts through the main roster in the NXC system. Did not
16:18
hear of any producers that were let go. It just seemed like it was
16:22
basically main roster and NXC talent. Those names, and we'll go through the
16:27
list here, starting with Matt Riddle, Dolf Siegler, Shelton, Benjamin,
16:33
Elias, Mussafa Al Lee, Emma Riddick, moss A, Leah Topdala,
16:38
Rick Boogs, Mace Monsour, Dana Brook, Dobacado, Shanky, Ikey Manjiro
16:45
Louisa, leon Quincy, Elliott Bryson, Mantana, Montana, Kevin Ventura,
16:49
Cortez, Daniel MacArthur, Alexis Gray, Brooklyn Barlow, and Abaduel Abadie Fitzgerald
16:56
were all released from World Rest of Entertainment Week. I think the ones where
17:02
you start here is the most surprising obviously looking at this list, it's surprising,
17:07
but almost not surprising because of the stuff that goes on behind the scenes
17:11
around the news, one being Matt Riddle. WWE has given Matt Riddle the
17:18
keys to the car a lot to be very successful. I remember listening too.
17:23
I think it was something to wrestle with and it may be the ones
17:26
that were on the WE network. And Conrad Thompson asked Bruce Pritchard, who
17:33
heads creative or is one of the creative heads in WE, who can you
17:37
see on the current roster right now that could be the next John Sena for
17:41
the next fifteen twenty years something along those lines. It was it was definitely
17:45
like who's the next Sena? And he said, without question, Matt Riddle.
17:49
He saw Matt Riddle being the next face of the company, which is
17:57
an absolute huge thing to be said by someone who is literally writing the creative
18:03
books for w WE and lead you to believe since Bruce got back involved,
18:10
that he felt that same way because of the storylines that Matt Riddle was given
18:14
Riddle when he came over from NXT to the main roster. I think it
18:17
was the SmackDown side during the beginning stages of the pandemic. It was like
18:22
this big touted debut over he kind of floundered a little bit on that brief
18:29
period of time it SmackDown. I think once he was moved to raw,
18:30
things started to pick up, and obviously we know where things went for him
18:34
with r K Brow. RK Brow was one of the best odd couple pairing
18:38
tag teams that we've seen since since Team hell Now. They were extremely over,
18:44
extremely fun, got a lot of great stuff out of Randy Ornt that
18:47
we hadn't seen in some time, got a lot of great stuff out of
18:49
Matt Riddle, and it just felt like that the eventual lead to all this
18:56
was going to be pre or before Randy Orton got hurt, was to lead
19:00
to a Matt Riddle Randy Warn't match. I would believe it would happen at
19:06
something like a Summer Slam or a Wrestlemanian. I'd believe there had been pitches
19:10
it sometimes that they wanted to turn on Matt Riddle and Riddle would be the
19:15
bayface or it would be the heel. They'd have a great, let's say,
19:18
three to four month feud and that would help elevate Matt Riddle up as
19:22
as a main event talent. That obviously didn't happen because Randy Warton got hurt.
19:26
He's been out since. And then you know, Riddle that point was
19:30
had matches with Roman Reigns. It was one of the most more recent Roman
19:34
Reigns title defenses on network television on SmackDown Great Match. Then he went on
19:41
to feud with Seth Rollins for a little bit, and again there you go.
19:47
I mean, you're in the ring with Roman Rains, You're in the
19:49
ring with Seth Rollins. Obviously the company thinks highly of you, and they
19:53
ran with that feud for a while and it was a very personal, intense
19:57
feud, you know. And then he was brought back recently and did some
20:03
stuff with Drew MacIntyre before obviously being released. The stuff that's on the opposite
20:10
side of this end of this is same time during the pandemic, during the
20:15
Me Too movement, Matt Riddle was accused of sexual assault. It went to
20:18
court by a former co worker at Evolve Wrestling, Candy Cartwright, a fellow
20:25
wrestler. They had an affair and she was claiming sexual assault. That went
20:30
to a court case or was in litigation. All of that led to eventually,
20:38
I presume Matt Riddle's personal life taking the same hit where his wife had
20:45
divorced him. They had about three or four kids together and they went their
20:49
separate ways. Riddle also had some drug test failures that harpened him from coming
20:57
back. He was in rehab for a little bit, and then most recently,
21:02
the belief is that he may have been somewhat inebrad intoxicated during an incident
21:07
in JFK where he accused a TSA agent or Port Authority police officer belief for
21:15
sexually assaulting him, and that seems to have been the final straw. And
21:19
w WE had given Matt Riddle so many chances, and I think the reports
21:22
that were out there recently was he went through all of his chances. So
21:27
this is one of those cases that you see from time to time in WE
21:32
where it's like someone has given the keys to the city and they don't know
21:37
what to do with it, and they kind of self destruct. They lose
21:41
that opportunity. Sometimes they regain it and get a second chance, and sometimes
21:47
they don't. I immediately think of folks out there like Rye Back. Right
21:52
Back was given the Keys to the City at one point, and he's gone
21:55
with the company and has never been brought back. But here we are Matt
21:59
Riddle, and what happens next with him is pretty important. I don't think
22:04
AW would sign him. I know that there are some MMA promotions, according
22:10
to Dave Meltzer, that are interested in him, but I don't know where
22:14
he goes from here. I think he's kind of damaged goods at this point
22:18
and he needs to kind of self reflect, get his stuff together and see
22:22
if professional wrestling is the direction he wants to go. It really goes one
22:26
or both ways for me, in my opinion, I think either Riddle ends
22:30
up in wween cleans up his act and cleans up his image is or morseful
22:36
for his previous sins, or he just leaves professional war wrestling all together,
22:40
and maybe he does a couple of matches here and there, but we never
22:44
really see Matt Riddle again, and then like ten fifteen years from now,
22:47
he's doing some sort of shoot interview or signing autographs at some sort of comic
22:51
book con or wrestling function. But in the meantime it was surprising, but
22:57
also not surprising. Was surprising was Dolf Sigler being released. But again,
23:03
also you can make the case not surprising. He is one of the most,
23:07
if not the most underutilized professional wrestling talents we've ever seen. This is
23:12
a world champion quality wrestler who for whatever reason, could not get the time
23:19
of day, the light of day to ever be a consistent main event player.
23:25
There were times that he had gone up the card, had a World
23:27
Championship run and Matt was it and nothing ever came of it. One of
23:32
the best money in the bank moments of all time, the Cash in the
23:34
Night After Wrestling Mane twenty nine. He was a beloved superstar from a lot
23:41
of wrestling fan standpoints, but he just couldn't crack it in the creative side
23:48
of w W. WE all knew if they gave him the ball, he'd
23:51
knock it out of the park. So such a joy to watch and a
23:55
damn shaman he's in WWE. But if there's one talent on this list who
23:59
would really benefit from AW, it is without adult Dolf Sigler. I would
24:03
also throw in Shelton Benjamin is someone I would love to see an AW.
24:07
I think he'd be great, even at his age He's still kicking ass a
24:10
ton of fun to watch. Elias was somebody that I think was a big
24:14
w w wheat or excuse me, a bit sick man type talent, big
24:18
guy, great gimmick, cut a good promo, had a really cool air
24:23
about him. Decent ent ring performer as well, but in the new regime
24:29
he just couldn't catch on. And it's kind of similar to what happened with
24:33
Rick Boogs as well, which I believe Boogs basically insinuated in the YouTube video.
24:37
Another big surprise was Mustafa Ali. I mean he's was slated for a
24:42
title match at NXC No Mercy this Saturday against Dirty Domastereo. Had been really
24:48
enjoying his run on NXT. He was starting to do the character that I
24:52
guess he was pushing to do when he just before he had asked for his
24:56
release. Mustaf Ali is a highly coveted town that I think if AW snatches
25:00
up and hope that they snatch up, can be very, very very successful.
25:06
He is a great creative mind from what I've seen, great and ring
25:10
worker, and I just really always enjoyed watching Mustafa Ali. I felt bad
25:15
for Emma and top Dollah, who recently came back to the company, especially
25:21
Emma, who is a high quality female talent female wrestler. No idea why
25:26
they brought her back for like maybe two three months and then took her off
25:30
television. Riddick Moss had had some run in there that I think could have
25:34
been good, but again I think with the way that Triple H does some
25:37
booking that maybe Riddick Moss fell off a little bit as well. And then
25:42
on the NXC side of things, where if there was any type of shock,
25:51
I mean, they had danham Brooke on television recently and she had a
25:53
little bit of a bit more of an edge of her on her characters,
25:56
So that's kind of shocking when it's somebody that's frequently on television like Mustafa Ali.
26:02
Most of these names were not on television recently, so it wasn't too
26:06
much of a shock. But I would also say Quincy Elliott was being pushed
26:10
in NXC for a while. I had a good connection with the fans.
26:12
It was a gold Desk esque type character that I guess did not translate over
26:19
the last couple of months. If there was one thing about Quincy Elliot was
26:22
obviously the in ring work was not fully there from my perspective as a fan,
26:26
so no longer employed by w E. And then I think, really,
26:33
who is going to be the most successful post WE? I would say,
26:41
I'll give you three names. I'm gonna go with Dolf Siegler for everything
26:45
that I mentioned before. I think he goes to AW and as an upper
26:48
card top talent, mustaf Ali because he is highly creative and a great in
26:56
ring worker. And then I'm going to say Emma because I think her addition
27:00
to the female roster of an AW would be very, very very beneficial.
27:07
So I'm gonna say Ziggler, Emma, and mustaf Ali will be the most
27:12
successful post WWE fall on their release. Always a shame when when folks lose
27:18
their jobs, But I think the bright side here is is that several of
27:23
them can be very successful post World rest Entertainment. I think Zach Ryder Matt
27:29
Cardona has shown that you could be very successful post ww release, and I
27:34
don't see why they can either. I think to me, mustaf Ali is
27:41
like the most comparable to Matt Cardona on the success that he could face post
27:47
WWE release. I think I think he can go into any promotion and uses
27:52
social media and be very very uber popular depending where he where he picks up.
27:57
So why did these releases take place? Dave Meltzer wrote in the wrest
28:03
Of Observer newsletter via Wrestling and Inc. That it was quote well known there
28:07
would be massive cuts end quote with plants who cut back on fifty two one
28:11
hundred million expenses on the W side of TKO Group holdings. He also noted
28:15
that most of the cuts have been made due to quote duplication of work on
28:18
the endeavor side of things, an issue more commonly referred to as redundancy.
28:22
Employees were poorly told that all major cuts made were related to the merger,
28:29
So there you go. They wanted to cut some money. There were some
28:34
folks that weren't being utilized in WW felt it was best to instead of writing
28:41
out a paycheck or finding ways to use them, to let them go.
28:47
And I know this has been a topic of discussion. I know Tony con
28:49
addressed it recently in his media call I believe with for Wrestle Dream that there
28:57
were folks that are on again the tribalism and wrestling folks that are on the
29:03
W side, saying it's great that de wit releases them because they can go
29:07
out and be on their merry way and carry on their career have a little
29:10
bit of buzz behind them, versus the AW side where they continue to pay
29:14
you, don't use you and let your contract expire, where there is no
29:17
buzz coming off of entering the free agency. I don't know where I sit
29:22
there. I think I kind of agree with the W side of things.
29:26
There's no easy way to fire a talent, especially those that are extremely talented,
29:29
like the names I said. But I guess give them a little bit
29:33
of a buzz. You give them ninety day pay. You know, now
29:36
people are counting down the days and the hours until Dolphs can become a free
29:41
agent, mussaf Ali can be a free agent, and they could use these
29:45
next three months to kind of reboot themselves and get ready for the next chapter
29:48
in their careers. That I hope they're very, very successful in so W
29:52
we made in a recent round of talent cuts. Hopefully that is the end
29:56
of it for the rest of this year. Some surprise, some not surprising,
30:02
and always some shout outs to to see who can be the most successful
30:06
post of we feel free to chime in at SRTU podcast on Twitter slash x
30:11
or Facebook dot com Slash the realt Still Real to Us Show. With that
30:15
said, let's get some preview predictions in. If we get doctor Treys,
30:22
we'll post it up on our Facebook page, Facebook dot com slashes the realto
30:25
Show and maybe throw them up on Twitter as well. Then on next week's
30:29
podcast, the first podcast for the month of October. October the fifth,
30:33
we will recap and review everything from Nxcino Mercy and aw Russell Dream. So
30:40
let's start with the Saturday show. N Xtino Mercy Preview Predictions is Saturday from
30:42
the Mechanics Bank Arena and Bakerville, Bakersfield, California. The first match here
30:48
is a fatal four way match for the NXC Tag Team Championships. Did d'angela
30:53
family take on OTM, Lucian Price and Broco Neema? The Creed brothers Brutist
30:57
Creed and Julius Creed, and I don't know if they're going by Loso Thorios
31:00
anymore. They were promoted as Carreo and Angel Garza, so on Britio Correo
31:06
and Angel Garza. I liked the D'Angelo family in this one. I could
31:11
make a play for one of these teams to steal the championship from the D'Angelo
31:14
family and become the new tag Team champions. But I feel like they're going
31:18
to keep the titles on the D'Angelo family a little bit longer. I think
31:22
that will be the best It's it's pretty good. I think it's a pretty
31:29
good opportunity for the D'Angelo family gets this runs as NXC Tag Team Champions,
31:37
So I like the D'Angelo family winning and retaining. Next match, here is
31:42
no am Dar defending the XC Heritage Cup in a British rounds rules match against
31:47
Butch. I really enjoy the Global Invitational tournament that they had, and I
31:53
thought it was a good way to develop a new number one contender. My
31:56
only drawback was, why aren't you doing the British rules rounds matches, like
32:00
if you're trying to get going for the NEXC Heritage Cup, like, do
32:05
those style matches for the right to take on the NEXC Heritage Cup winner or
32:10
trophy holder. I thought that was the only thing that was strange. Nonetheless,
32:15
I like Butch winning this one. If there was a time for an
32:19
NXT talent to defeat a main roster talent on this card. It would be
32:22
this match because I think the metaphor could help distract or interfere in this one
32:30
and help No m Dar retain, which noem Dar has been phenomenal. Metaphor
32:36
has been really good. They have found some great stuff there with great stuff
32:39
for utilizing oral mensa lash legend who had been on the roster for a little
32:44
bit really not doing much, and Jakar Jackson is very talented. So the
32:47
metaphor stuff has been very entertaining and fun. And it's read that you could
32:52
see a stable where there's equal mounts men and women. So I like what
32:55
they're doing on NXT, but I do have butch retaining this one. Next
33:00
matches for the NXC North American Championship is Dirty Domasterio Defense against Trick william with
33:04
Dragon Lee as a special guest referee. Good way by we to get things
33:10
going here after msaf Ali was let go and where they were going to move
33:15
from this point forward, and they put all together with the NXC episode this
33:20
past week. The Trick Williams character has been very compelling as of late.
33:24
I think this could be a really turning point show for Trick Williams as a
33:29
character in both wins or losses. In this instance, I do have Dirty
33:35
Dom masterial retaining. I think Dragon Lee being a special guest referee is added
33:39
to this one because it plays a big factor, whether that is accidentally costing
33:44
Trick Williams the match or you know, leading to a rekindling of the feud
33:50
between Dirty Dom and Dragon Lee. Is the way I could go, and
33:52
it just feels like Dragon Lee is the guy that is poised to win the
33:57
championship eventually from Dirty They had a great match on Raw and I just feel
34:01
like the way the things are going and that is the plan. But I
34:05
don't think it'll be the last of Trick Williams at Nxcino Mercy. Next match
34:09
here is Braun Breaker versus Baron Corbyn. This feud has kind of been met
34:13
at best. It's been lacking a lot, and it was like concerning heading
34:22
into the show of where things were headed, and then they picked it up
34:27
this past Tuesday. I really enjoyed that final sequence, that final segment on
34:31
NXEY Television that closed out the show with them battling around that car. They
34:36
did. They absolutely destroyed that car, and I thought that was a good
34:38
way to hype up their match. It saved a little bit that got my
34:42
interest and intrigued in this one. So I braun Breaker defeating Baron Corbyn on
34:46
Saturday Night, and that was just a weird feud because they're both heels right
34:51
now. I mean, they're both not well liked by the audience, so
34:53
it's rare that you see a heel versus heel feud happening. Would have figured
34:58
one of them would have been a baby face and I would have actually believed
35:00
Baron Corbyn. Next match, here's an extreme rules match for the NXEY Woman's
35:05
Championship. Is Becky Lynch defends against Tiffany Stratton. I like Becky Lynch retaining
35:09
and winning this match, but I think this has one of those really cool
35:15
instances that you see from time to time where this veteran wrestler gets the most
35:20
out of a young star in a very violent match. And I think of
35:24
two thousand and four hardcore rules match of Mick Foley and Randy Orton in their
35:30
feud, and I don't know if that has the same degree to it,
35:32
but I think Becky Lynch helps elevate Tiffany Stratton to become a bigger star following
35:37
this pay per view. In a loss, sometimes a loss does as much
35:42
as a win, So I like Tiffany Stratton putting on a good show.
35:45
I feel like this match is gonna be very physical and violent, but I
35:47
still like Becky Lynch retaining and I think she helps elevate the game of Tiffany
35:52
Stratton on Saturday Night. And then finally, Carmelo Hayes defends the NXC Championship
35:57
against Elia Dragonoff. I'm going to take dragging Off to win and become the
36:00
new NXC champion. I think this is where you see Trick Williams turn on
36:06
Carmelo Hayes cost him the championship, and we have a new NXC champion.
36:10
I can't see a world right now where Elie Draggonoff leaves nxcy No Mercy without
36:15
the title. I think his character has been on the rise and it would
36:19
be a slight to him if he doesn't win the championship. I think the
36:22
time is now to pull that trigger, and then that would also add to
36:25
a Trick Williams Carmelo Hayes feud where if Trick Williams cost Carmelo the loss and
36:30
the championship, Trick can come out and say that the only time he ever
36:34
won was because of me, and now you can't win without me. And
36:38
there's been this little seeds planted over the last couple of weeks. We sound
36:43
it kind of saw it going a little bit more of an overdrive on Tuesday's
36:45
edition of NXT where Trick Williams was talking to Carmelo Hayes and he was very
36:50
into his phone and reading whatever notes or maybe the contract heading into the contract
36:54
signing with Eli Draggonoff and then Carmelo Hayes talking about all the opponents that could
37:00
not stop Elia Dragonoff that he is no Wesley, he is no Trick Williams,
37:07
which got an O from the crowd and got a little bit of a
37:09
reaction. I thought that was a nice little sea that was planted, and
37:13
I think we fully see it executed on Saturday show where a Trick Williams turn
37:17
on Carmelo Hayes takes place. Because if not now same thing with the only
37:22
dragon Off with the championship, then when like when do you pull the trigger
37:25
on this? And I think you've got to do this at a big event
37:28
like a PLA. So I fully expect that Eli Draggonoff will walk out of
37:32
nxcn No Mercy as the new NXC champion, all thanks to Carmelo Hayes excuming
37:38
Trick Williams for costing Carmelo Hayes the title and the match all right, then,
37:45
shifting gears to AW Wressell Dream Preview and Predictions is Sunday from the Climate
37:49
Pledge Arena in Seattle, Washington. The first match he's a four way tag
37:52
team match for a future AW World Tag Team Championship match whenever they want.
37:57
The Young Bucks taken on the Guns Luch Brothers and Orange Cassidy and Hook.
38:02
FTR has been down the road with the Young Bucks for a little bit,
38:06
so I don't think we get another FTR Young Bucks match. They've done their
38:09
stuff with the Guns as well, though, I feel like the Guns could
38:13
be the winners of this one. Luca Bros. We've seen them take on
38:16
I believe as well, not recently though. To me, the outlier here's
38:21
Orange Cassidy and Hook. I would not be shocked if they go with Orange
38:25
Cassidy and Hook and what's going on with them? Maybe that odd couple weird
38:30
pairing tag team playing out that we talked about earlier in the show with like
38:32
an RK bro playing out on Ali Wrestling Television. So I'm gonna go with
38:37
Orange Cassidy Hook to win this one and to have an eventual aw ROLD Tag
38:40
Team Championship match. Next match Here's for the AWTBS Championship is Chris Statlaner takes
38:46
on Julia Hart. Let me first by saying that I've watched the last couple
38:51
Julia Hart match. I think she had a match on Rampage and Collision recently.
38:53
I think back to back nights, she has really come a long way.
38:57
I really like her submission finisher. A lot of times in submission finishers
39:01
they don't look like they actually hurt the person hers does, and it looks
39:07
really really legit. Got a figure that maybe Maliki Black played a little bit
39:12
of a role in there behind the scenes to help give her a really cool
39:14
submission finisher, and her in ring work has really really improved. With that
39:19
said, I do like christ Atlanta retaining, but I think this match surprises
39:22
us on Sunday Night. Next match here's for the ROH World Championship in New
39:28
Japan. Strong Open Weight Championship. He has Eddie Kingston defense against Katiora Shabata,
39:32
the current ROH Pure champion. I'm really looking forward to this one big
39:37
Shabbata fan, but I don't think you put the championship on Kingston ten days
39:42
ago for him to lose the Shavada on the very first pay per view.
39:45
So I have Eddie Kingston retaining, but I think this is gonna be a
39:47
really, really fun match. Shabata is so much fun to watch, one
39:52
of my favorites, Like I just wish he got more praise and opportunity to
40:00
to be out there as much easy is. But that's probably a lot to
40:02
do with his his injury that nearly cost him his life. But thankfully he's
40:08
he's still with us and it's a miracle that he's wrestling today. Next match,
40:15
here's two out of three falls. Match for the AWT and T Championship
40:16
is Christian Cage defense against Darby Allen. I went back and forth on this
40:21
one. I was like, man, I can see Darby Allen, but
40:23
they just put the T and T Championship on Christian Cage in a really good
40:28
triple threat match. Really enjoyed the booking where Cage pins Lucasaurus of all people.
40:32
Following the Coffin drop, Lucasaurus is starting and like you know, he
40:37
held the championship for the first time. He's starting to realize that, like,
40:39
hey, that was a lot of fun. That was cool. Maybe
40:42
I'm being used by this guy. So I don't think they want to execute
40:45
that storyline just yet. I think it plays out somewhere. Lucasaurus obviously plays
40:51
roles here and helps Christian Cage retain, but we're starting to see the ground
40:55
crack a little bit where Lucasaurus will eventually turn Christian Cage. So I got
41:00
Christian Cage retaining. Next match, here's christ Jericho and the Golden Elite of
41:05
Kenny Omegan, Cody a Bushi taking up members of the Don Callis family,
41:07
Kenosk Takeshka, Sammy Cavarr and Will Losprey. I've got the Don Callis family
41:13
winning this match. I just think that the Kenny Omega Coda Jericho els are
41:19
adding to this feud a lot more and it's getting the booze from Don Callis's
41:24
family and Don Callis to be even louder, and I think that could should
41:28
continue. So I've got the don callis family winning this match. And I
41:31
should also say that we are recording this just before AW Dynamite on Wednesday night,
41:36
so if there's any new matches, which I'm sure there will be.
41:38
It is an AW pay per view. There's only nine announced. They usually
41:42
like to have eleven or twelve. Unfortunately we can't preview here on this edition
41:45
of the podcast, but we obviously will recap review it on next week's edition
41:50
of the show on October the fifth. Next matchers for the ROH World Championship
41:55
Better than You, Baybay Adam Colin MJF defending against the Righteous of Vincent and
42:00
Dutch. Obviously, we don't know the severity of Adam Cole's injury. They
42:02
could be announcing right now that he is out for the next six months for
42:06
all I know, and this match has been canceled and it will be a
42:09
vacant ROH World Championship match instead. But I'm going on the premise that he
42:14
is good to go. I have not seen any report saying otherwise other than
42:16
he went to the hospital than came out of the hospital on crutches. Hopefully
42:20
there is no break. Hopefully there is no tear and it was just a
42:22
tweak for Adam Cole, but I tend to believe that it's probably not a
42:27
tweak. My biggest gripe in this should the match take place, is the
42:30
Righteous being in this. I'm a fan of Vincent and Dutch, but how
42:36
do you go on and on of pushing the Kingdom of Matt Tavan and Mike
42:40
Bennett, of having issues with Adam Cole and better than U Baba as they're
42:45
tied to the hip with Roderick Strong being a really fun phenomenal act on AW
42:50
television lately, and not give them this match but include them in the nor
42:52
Win Contenders match. Very very weird that they did that booking, but nonetheless
42:58
they decided to go with the Righteous and I like better than U bebe retaining
43:01
again, I just find it weird that you had that opportunity to give us
43:05
better than Ubbe and the Kingdom and a pay per view you didn't do it.
43:08
Anyway. Next match here's for the AW World Tag Team Championship is FTR
43:13
take on Assie Open, Cole Fletcher and Mark Davis. This should be a
43:16
fun one. I honestly went back and forth in this one because I think
43:20
Aussie Open deserves around with the AWU Tag Team Championship, especially when they took
43:23
the l at all in just to put over better than you babe for the
43:29
ROH World Tag Team titles. But I do think FTR continues to go a
43:32
little bit with these championship. I mean, as I'm even saying this,
43:37
I'm very tempted to pick Aussie Open, but I'm gonna go with FTR retaining.
43:40
So I'm gonna have FTR retaining a World Tag Team champiship. But I
43:44
could see a world where Aussie Opened wins Young Bucks win that fatal four way
43:47
and then that goes on and on and on. But nonetheless, I'm gonna
43:51
stick with FTR, so I'm gonna go FTR to retain. Next match is
43:54
Hangman Atam Paid Chicken on Sport Strickland. I'm really excited for this one.
43:59
Such a fun on like mid card upper mid card feud with two guys that
44:04
were our great talents and kind of flounder a little bit here and there,
44:07
could use some new stuff, and this is a fresh coat of paint for
44:10
both of them in a feud that has the poise to being very very good
44:15
talking about guys who have been released by w WE that have had success post
44:21
WWE release, Swerve Strickland is one of them. Swerve Strickland has been awesome
44:27
in All Elite Wrestling. I think he's been there now for it's almost two
44:30
years now. I mean he's been great, and he's put on some muscle,
44:36
he's put on some mass. His in ring work has always been there
44:38
as Microphone, he's even more confident than he was ever before. I know
44:43
he's always Serve confident, but he's so much more confident. His act with
44:46
a Mobile Embassy and Prince Nanah is super over. He is great. He
44:51
is a great heal and professional wrestling and a great in ring worker. I'm
44:54
so happy for him. I could see this guy next year being an All
44:58
Elite Wrestling world chan being. Even with that said, I think this is
45:01
the first match to help a rise sort of Strickling into the next level of
45:06
aw's ladder. And I'm going to take him to defeat Hangman in a page
45:09
on Sunday Night, and then that takes us to the dream match. Two
45:14
of the best technical wrestlers of all time, Brian Danielson taken on Zach Saber
45:19
Junior from New Japan Pro Wrestling. Fully expect a lot of wristlocks, a
45:23
lot of great phenomenal this is awesome chance, a lot of amazing chain wrestling,
45:30
a lot of hard kicks. This is going to be a lot of
45:32
fun, folks. This is something that wrestling fans have wanted to see for
45:36
a long time. When Brian Danielson, then known as Daniel Bryan, was
45:39
commentating during the Cruiserweight Classic and Zach Saber Junior was in the tournament for wa
45:45
all I could think of was like, man, could you imagine ZSJ taken
45:50
on the American Dragon? And it looked like at that point, obviously with
45:53
Danian Bryan and retire, that it would never happen. And then he has
45:59
come out of retire, he was in w E Zack Saber Junior tearing up
46:01
in New Japan RevPro wherever, and it seems like it could never happen.
46:07
Daniels comes to a w and I feel like this has been a dream match
46:09
in the waiting for a long time. So Danielson seems to be checking off
46:14
a lot of boxes. If this is his last run as a full time
46:17
active performer. He did Okada a couple of months ago. He's got CSJ
46:22
this Sunday, and this match is going to be a ton of fun and
46:24
I'm gonna take Brian Danielson to get the victory again. I'm tempted to pick
46:29
ZSJA, but I think Brian Danielson walks out of his hometown the winner at
46:35
Ali Wrestling wrest of Dream, the first ever Russell Dream pay per view.
46:38
So there you go. There's our preview and predictions. Again. We will
46:42
recap and review it on next week's edition of the podcast on October fifth,
46:46
and if we get doctor Trey's predictions, we will post it up on Twitter
46:52
or on our in on our Facebook page, so thenbody has caught up and
46:54
