Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: Hello and welcome to the Brain's Body Podcast.
- 0:03Speaker 1: I am Dr Christopher Kevin Slayton, your host, and I want to explain why I talk about the brain.
- 0:13Speaker 1: Because in my practice I work with a lot of people who are in the workplace, who have a sense of, and they don't know how to feel their way through the experience of hurt, pain and sadness because they feel trapped in a job.
- 0:35Speaker 1: And so that's why I want to talk about the brain's body, because I want you to understand there's a difference between a state of mind and the brain that leads the body, and the difference is that a state of mind is a trained state of being in the system, so you look at social constraints and that's why you're sad, because you feel trapped, controlled, as though you really can't release your energy flow.
- 1:10Speaker 1: And so when I talk to you about the brain's body, I'm trying to synthesize the experience of self and I'm saying you got to feel this, because if you can feel what I'm talking about, that's the first step to regaining your sense of feel for caring about the experience, because when you're in program, what you have to learn how to do is process the program, move through the negative energy moving through you and let your brain experience it, with you beginning to brain talk.
- 1:47Speaker 1: Talk to the brain, not the body, understand what forward feed means and understand the difference between self-talk and the inner voice.
- 1:58Speaker 1: We're talking about mental health.
- 2:00Speaker 1: We're talking about how do you get yourself in the right gear.
- 2:04Speaker 1: You begin to digest that information flow that's holding you back.
- 2:08Speaker 1: I'm talking about the sense, feel and focus process cycle that allows you to understand that you're grounded, because to sense means to observe, see, experience, to feel.
- 2:24Speaker 1: And that's you, because you have a brain inside your body.
- 2:29Speaker 1: That's neurologic and when you feel something, those nerve impulses are moving it to the brain and the practice has to be not to program yourself but to process that energy.
- 2:52Speaker 1: So there's a difference between being programmed and being a processor.
- 2:54Speaker 1: And I'm saying to you you have to learn how to live inside society.
- 2:56Speaker 1: So it's okay that you accept socialization and programming, but the problem is you have to transition to understand that the program is not you.
- 3:04Speaker 1: That's what you have to do to survive, to live inside the system.
- 3:08Speaker 1: But brain talk is what's bothering you, because your brain is saying well, we're not really getting to exercise our true sense of feel for what and who we are, from the inside to the outside.
- 3:24Speaker 1: Instead, we're being heavily influenced by the external environment.
- 3:27Speaker 1: And so I'm saying to you that's why you want to be a processor of that information flow.
- 3:34Speaker 1: And that's forward feed.
- 3:36Speaker 1: Forward feed is brain talk.
- 3:38Speaker 1: That's when it's being processed.
- 3:39Speaker 1: That experience, that pain, that hurt and sadness.
- 3:42Speaker 1: You want your joy back.
- 3:44Speaker 1: You got to process that negative energy in the forward feed.
- 3:48Speaker 1: Now self-talk is just that talk.
- 3:50Speaker 1: That's just spiraling inside your head and that's what you do.
- 3:55Speaker 1: It's like paralysis analysis.
- 3:57Speaker 1: It's just on and on and on dialogue about what you could have, should have, would have done if it was.
- 4:01Speaker 1: No, you have to process that negative energy.
- 4:04Speaker 1: That's what's meant by body-mind versus the brain-body, because the brain's body wants to perform and the mind state is predictable.
- 4:17Speaker 1: You reach that level.
- 4:19Speaker 1: That's your role.
- 4:20Speaker 1: Stop, no, you don't get to do that.
- 4:23Speaker 1: That's above your state of being, that's above your pay grade.
- 4:27Speaker 1: That's programmed.
- 4:28Speaker 1: That's a role.
- 4:29Speaker 1: Stop, no, you don't get to do that.
- 4:29Speaker 1: That's above your state of being.
- 4:31Speaker 1: That's above your pay grade.
- 4:32Speaker 1: That's programmed.
- 4:33Speaker 1: That's a social constraint.
- 4:38Speaker 1: And I'm saying to you when you're processing that energy, you move through the experience and you accept program and that's the goal line.
- 4:42Speaker 1: But your brain recreates within your sense of feel for self, recreate within your sense of feel for self, your insight is what's emerging as you begin to experience these influences, whether it's inner voice, self-talk.
- 4:52Speaker 1: You want brain talk forward, feed Into the environment to practice.
- 4:56Speaker 1: Now your job becomes a place to practice, learning how to move beyond the job.
- 5:01Speaker 1: Now you set those parameters For me.
- 5:05Speaker 1: That's my practice.
- 5:06Speaker 1: I'm an entrepreneur, so what I say is I went to work as, let's say, a Marine and I wanted more.
- 5:13Speaker 1: And I accepted the fact that I was inside a Marine Corps and that those social constraints inhibited me from becoming anything close to what I wanted to do or be.
- 5:23Speaker 1: But I accepted it and my brain took me to a whole other level.
- 5:26Speaker 1: So when I came out of Rain Corps, I fed it forward to college new opportunities I was creating for myself because I understood the social system.
- 5:40Speaker 1: That's what I'm saying to you.
- 5:41Speaker 1: Understand the social constraints because they're okay, the program is okay, the job is okay.
- 5:47Speaker 1: Now, how do you recreate your own from that context?
- 5:51Speaker 1: That's what we're talking about.
- 5:52Speaker 1: Brain talk, but you're grounded, because when you pick up the literature, the literature is telling you.
- 5:58Speaker 1: You're grounding yourself in understanding home, school, neighborhood, workplace, bam.
- 6:02Speaker 1: Family education, government, business systems.
- 6:05Speaker 1: Bam.
- 6:05Speaker 1: That grounds you in understanding that you're not.
- 6:08Speaker 1: We're not talking about artificial domains, we're not talking about non-real events and activities.
- 6:16Speaker 1: We're talking about ground yourself in social, cultural variables that you have to move through every single day your home, your school, your neighborhood, your workplace, family, education, government, business system and your brain.
- 6:29Speaker 1: Talk is about how do I perform at the highest level as a family leader, as a school leader, as a school leader, as a government-involved participant, as a business leader.
- 6:47Speaker 1: You see what I'm saying Home, school, neighborhood.
- 6:50Speaker 1: How do I improve my home economically?
- 6:52Speaker 1: I need to advance from apartment to a home, to land.
- 6:56Speaker 1: I need to own my own piece of land.
- 6:58Speaker 1: No see, we're talking about brain talk.
- 7:00Speaker 1: But you got to get grounded and understand what the social system is and what those social constraints are.
- 7:04Speaker 1: You're predictable because that's what they call the role being and accepting your role within the context of the job.
- 7:15Speaker 1: But that doesn't mean you can't continue to process that information flow and understand that that's not the be-all to you or for you.
- 7:25Speaker 1: And over here is the insight that's coming from your forward feed, because you're processing the experience of self in relation to other people and the environment.
- 7:36Speaker 1: You're grounded, because who are you competing against?
- 7:39Speaker 1: First, you want to motivate you in relation to other people, and then you want to be able to use that environment to develop practices that allow you to advance from where you are to where you're dreaming of ending up.
- 7:55Speaker 1: So I'm saying to you don't lose your joy.
- 7:59Speaker 1: Find your joy within the context of competing inside the social system, understanding that when you reach that goal line, you already are in your practice Because you're already in the job, but you're practicing moving beyond the job to this opportunity that no one else understands, because you're creating it.
- 8:19Speaker 1: That's what the brain does.
- 8:21Speaker 1: So we talk about creativity of the brain.
- 8:24Speaker 1: It's how you process that negative energy.
- 8:28Speaker 1: It's how you process that pain, hurt and sadness.
- 8:31Speaker 1: It's how you gain your sense of feel for happiness, joy, pleasure.
- 8:38Speaker 1: Excitement because you are actively participating in your own growth and development beyond fixed systems, beyond the program, and it's okay because that's the deal.
- 8:51Speaker 1: You're learning how to develop your occupational skill sets from where you are within the context, so it travels to anywhere else you go and you stay grounded because everywhere you go family, educated, government, business systems, home, school, name, workplace, networks and you're building your practice around those eight variables you're grounded.
- 9:14Speaker 1: But what's not grounded is when you're in the pain, hurt and sadness and you don't feel you can get out of it and just suffering as though paralysis analysis is all inside your head.
- 9:26Speaker 1: And I'm saying to you practice means you release that negative energy.
- 9:30Speaker 1: You accept the fact yeah, it bothers me to be in this job making less than $75,000 a year.
- 9:38Speaker 1: And what I got to do is I got to understand how to manage that and control my emotion long enough, my brain to kick in with the passion of understanding, the comprehension and the steps required for me to begin to move beyond the negative experience where I can sense and feel myself at the higher level because I'm there.
- 10:02Speaker 1: And it's not that I'm waiting on someone else to push the button to give me the place.
- 10:05Speaker 1: I'm already doing it because I've invested in me.
- 10:09Speaker 1: Now I'm planting my seeds externally so I can go to work if I want to, or now I can go to my own practice and enjoy what I do because I made that workplace.
- 10:21Speaker 1: That's what I'm talking about.
- 10:22Speaker 1: This is capitalism and I'm saying to you a lot of people are mentally upset because they have locked themselves in the jobs, because they thought well, all I got to do is learn this job and go there every day and I'll be able to take care of myself.
- 10:39Speaker 1: And and society doesn't work that way.
- 10:41Speaker 1: It caught up to you, the cost of living caught up to you.
- 10:43Speaker 1: So now you're poe, but you got money.
- 10:46Speaker 1: But you're poe because you're trying to climb that ladder but you're not thinking about the economic variables that have to associate with what you're, what the program is feeding you.
- 10:56Speaker 1: So over here is the processor that's you processing that negative energy, and so you're beginning to understand how to turn that negative state of mind into a positive brain state, a sense of feel for self in the brain and the lead of the body, brain leadership, self-leadership.
- 11:16Speaker 1: The sense of feel for self is about leading yourself beyond the experience of negative energy to where you begin to clearly envision insight and create, release that negative energy.
- 11:30Speaker 1: Breathe, relax, be cool, calm Collect.
- 11:34Speaker 1: Be cool, calm Collect.
- 11:35Speaker 1: Now you're there.
- 11:36Speaker 1: No, because that's the practice Sense, feel, focus.
- 11:39Speaker 1: You're calm to collect a sense of feel because you're cooling your sense to receive past functions.
- 11:47Speaker 1: You're not angry because you're doing something with that negative energy, because look what you're doing, whatever your job is or whatever you're trying to do, look at what you're trying to output.
- 11:57Speaker 1: What is it Now?
- 12:01Speaker 1: For me, working with children has always been how you teach a child how to read, write, talk, act, perform.
- 12:06Speaker 1: How do you do that?
- 12:07Speaker 1: By teaching them how to move through contact, teaching them how to interact, teaching them how to cooperate, teaching them how to participate.
- 12:14Speaker 1: Because teaching them how to cooperate, teaching them how to participate, because what am I doing?
- 12:16Speaker 1: I'm aligning brain, body and sense events so they can begin to deal with the inner frustrations of being displaced because everything is being predictably put in front of them.
- 12:28Speaker 1: And they think I don't have a choice, I have to do it this way.
- 12:31Speaker 1: No, you don't.
- 12:32Speaker 1: You have to move through the negative flow of that information and understand the experience of self and not be held back because it's programmed, but you're processing the program.
- 12:44Speaker 1: So, yeah, you are asked a question and they want a predictable response, but you give them that response.
- 12:51Speaker 1: But the reality is it also means this right here.
- 12:52Speaker 1: But you give them that response.
- 12:53Speaker 1: But the reality is it also means this right here.
- 12:55Speaker 1: And that's the next level.
- 12:56Speaker 1: And you keep building that process to your brain, because that's what you want your brain to always do.
- 13:02Speaker 1: Accept the program.
- 13:03Speaker 1: Now what's real Change the program.
- 13:06Speaker 1: How do you change the program without disrupting the program and putting a bullseye on your back?
- 13:10Speaker 1: By learning how to interact through the crisis of self, because the crisis is when you're in program.
- 13:18Speaker 1: You're frustrated, you're angry, you're self-destruct because you don't think there's anything you can do.
- 13:23Speaker 1: That's self-taught, just all inside your head.
- 13:26Speaker 1: Wait a minute, breathe, let it out.
- 13:29Speaker 1: Concentrate Sense to feel, to focus what your frustration, your to feel, to focus what your frustration, your disappointment, your hostility.
- 13:40Speaker 1: And why?
- 13:41Speaker 1: Because the brain is the lead of the body and what I mean is you are processing the experience forward and that reduces your anxiety because you're cooling yourself down, you're calming your intellectual sense of feel for self.
- 14:04Speaker 1: That's the side of you that's learning from the negative experience how to intellectually respond.
- 14:09Speaker 1: And then that third piece collecting the synthesis from where you work to where you are.
- 14:16Speaker 1: That information flow is cumulative and you're collecting these experiences.
- 14:23Speaker 1: So when you begin to read, write, talk, act and perform, those experiences are reality-based and that makes you the experience.
- 14:31Speaker 1: So, no matter what field you're in, you got to understand that you are the experience.
- 14:34Speaker 1: So, no matter what field you're in, you got to understand that you are the experience and that's why people want to participate with you, because you know how to organize your senses.
- 14:44Speaker 1: And you organize your senses in relation to thinking and reflecting on the consequences.
- 14:50Speaker 1: And that's the story everybody wants to hear.
- 14:53Speaker 1: Well, how did you do it?
- 14:53Speaker 1: Consequences and that's the story everybody wants to hear.
- 14:57Speaker 1: Well, how did you do it?
- 14:57Speaker 1: You know, because way back then you looked like you were so depressed, so how did you get through it?
- 15:03Speaker 1: And you could tell them I had to experience it.
- 15:05Speaker 1: No, no, no, no, no, no, no.
- 15:05Speaker 1: I'm not talking about that way.
- 15:06Speaker 1: I had to experience it myself.
- 15:07Speaker 1: I had to accept it.
- 15:09Speaker 1: And when you accept it, you're accepting what you did wrong.
- 15:12Speaker 1: What was your role in that anxiety?
- 15:16Speaker 1: And that's what you're correcting.
- 15:18Speaker 1: That's the mental health piece.
- 15:19Speaker 1: That's what you're correcting, see, and you're creating that new space.
- 15:23Speaker 1: And that new space is intelligent because you know where you were and the things you had to do to get into that appropriate state of mind.
- 15:35Speaker 1: That's completely changing.
- 15:37Speaker 1: It's not a program state, it's a processing state, processing the experience of the experience, of experiencing these experiences.
- 15:45Speaker 1: So what are you doing?
- 15:47Speaker 1: You're a performer.
- 15:48Speaker 1: Why?
- 15:48Speaker 1: Because you've learned how to move through the negative experience of self.
- 15:52Speaker 1: That's the mental health piece.
- 15:53Speaker 1: That's the crisis of self.
- 15:54Speaker 1: Read it in my book.
- 15:54Speaker 1: That's the mental health piece.
- 15:54Speaker 1: That's the crisis of self.
- 15:55Speaker 1: Read it in my book.
- 15:56Speaker 1: That's the crisis of self.
- 15:58Speaker 1: You move through the crisis of self.
- 15:59Speaker 1: What's on the other side?
- 16:01Speaker 1: You define yourself Because I just told you, you're not just a sense of, a sense of is like a behavior Predictable.
- 16:11Speaker 1: You're more than that.
- 16:12Speaker 1: You're a sense of feel, see, and that's the interaction.
- 16:18Speaker 1: When you interact with other people, you feel them and don't be afraid to feel them, because that's the brain connecting to the experience, brain-body connection.
- 16:27Speaker 1: So now the information flow is moving into a physical context, because the body is physical.
- 16:35Speaker 1: So when you look back at their body, your body, you look in the mirror, you can feel aware of what's happening where you are right now, as you begin to continue to inform yourself.
- 16:48Speaker 1: In the end, all I'm talking about the brain's body progressively investing in self, brain, body, sensory organization, by living each day to become more informed about what it's going to take for you to improve your position in home, school, neighborhood, workplace, workplace building.
- 17:12Speaker 1: I just said it Building, because how many times in your life have you already seen new homes, new schools, new neighborhoods and new workplaces being constructed, and that's what the brain does.
- 17:27Speaker 1: You take the information flow that I'm talking to you about and don't be afraid of it, because it's real.
- 17:32Speaker 1: You're experiencing it.
- 17:33Speaker 1: And don't be afraid of it because it's real.
- 17:38Speaker 1: You're experiencing it Now how you transcend it so that it begins to become a part of your approach to understanding what happened and why it's taking you so long to realize what the economy is.
- 17:50Speaker 1: It's a business system, it's a capitalistic system, and if you stay in the road, you're power.
- 17:58Speaker 1: But if you move beyond the road, because you're thinking and reflecting on the experience, then the consequences don't hurt as bad because you know what you're doing, you're accepting the consequences.
- 18:09Speaker 1: That's self-motivation To lead yourself to the unknown.
- 18:14Speaker 1: Because you have a vision, you have insight and you're disciplined.
- 18:18Speaker 1: Because you sense the field of focus, the body, with the brain in the lead, because when you're focused, the brain is managing that emotion.
- 18:30Speaker 1: And this is the context of our talk about the brain's body.
- 18:35Speaker 1: I want to make it clear that I'm talking about the experience, because you have to be the experience, and so when you tune in the brain's body podcast, the ultimate experience is you Now, when you translate that, go to those physical places and test it in your home, in your school, in your neighborhood, in your workplace, in your family, in your education system, in your government, in your business system.
- 19:07Speaker 1: Now you're grounded.
- 19:10Speaker 1: So when you begin to do brain talk, you have specific action, learning variables to move the information flow through and build from there, move out of the crisis itself, upset from the inside out, because the outside in is influencing and you feel so socially constrained as though you can't breathe because that that's not.
- 19:43Speaker 1: That's not, that's not all.
- 19:44Speaker 1: That can't be.
- 19:45Speaker 1: It's more to me than than this job is, more to listen.
- 19:49Speaker 1: I'll stay in line, keeping alive, subscribe, tuning out.
- 19:53Speaker 1: Thank you for listening, my pleasure in now.
- 19:55Speaker 1: Thank you for listening, my pleasure, your pleasure.
- 19:58Speaker 1: Thank you very much.
- 19:59Speaker 1: Looking forward to the next time.
- 20:01Speaker 1: Hope you subscribe.
