- 0:00Speaker 1: Oh wait, I need my opening line.
- 0:20Speaker 2: Hey, everybody, welcome to Girls Gone Hallmark, a Hallmark review podcast.

- 0:28Speaker 1: And I'm Wendy, and I need to know is this
- 0:30Speaker 1: really new Year, new movies? If we're five movies into
- 0:33Speaker 1: a series.
- 0:34Speaker 2: Hot take kay, we're discussing the wedding veil inspiration movie
- 0:40Speaker 2: five or movie two, depending on how you're counting. If
- 0:44Speaker 2: you want to connect with us outside of the podcast,
- 0:46Speaker 2: we would love for you to follow us in all
- 0:48Speaker 2: the places you can find us on Instagram. We are
- 0:51Speaker 2: both at Girls Gone Hallmark and at Megan and Wendy,
- 0:56Speaker 2: depending on if you're feeling Hallmark or you just want
- 0:58Speaker 2: to like peek into our lives.
- 1:01Speaker 1: I gotta say, like, I love the dms on Girls
- 1:05Speaker 1: Gone Hallmark on Instagram. I'm just chatted up with like
- 1:08Speaker 1: so many people, and for listeners, you're talking to Wendy over.
- 1:13Speaker 2: There in the no. I don't even have the login.
- 1:16Speaker 2: I couldn't get enough. I tried somebody send a message.
- 1:20Speaker 1: They're like, oh, they sent a picture of a beautiful
- 1:23Speaker 1: woman with long hair, and she goes, oh, I thought
- 1:25Speaker 1: this was you, and I was like, well, that's actually
- 1:27Speaker 1: you thought that was Megan. This is Wendy at the
- 1:29Speaker 1: short Hair. Just just for reference. If anybody was wondering
- 1:35Speaker 1: who you're talking to in the DMS, it's me Wendy.
- 1:39Speaker 2: Where else can they find us?
- 1:41Speaker 1: You can jump into our Girls Gone Hallmark Facebook group.
- 1:45Speaker 1: It's been pretty interesting over there lately. We have a
- 1:48Speaker 1: couple of new members who have been actually really make
- 1:55Speaker 1: me laugh. They have been sharing what their TVO is
- 1:59Speaker 1: so them like Tyler Hines movies and Paul Campbell anyway,
- 2:03Speaker 1: it's just fun. And his name's Mike and he shares
- 2:06Speaker 1: all these like screenshots and stuff. I think it's quite funny.
- 2:09Speaker 2: Super entertaining, like all these deep cuts of these Hallmark actors.
- 2:14Speaker 1: Dude, that picture of Tyler Hines, I was like, that
- 2:16Speaker 1: doesn't even look like him, like not twenty twenty two
- 2:19Speaker 1: Tyler Hins. Tyler Hines was so funny. It was so funny.
- 2:25Speaker 1: So come on over there, we will. You'll have to
- 2:28Speaker 1: request to come in and we'll let you in.
- 2:31Speaker 2: You can also send us your emails at Megan and
- 2:34Speaker 2: Wendy at gmail dot com. And I have an email
- 2:37Speaker 2: that we would like to read. Oh okay, this email
- 2:40Speaker 2: is from Paula, who says, I just finished listening to
- 2:44Speaker 2: the Wedding Veil Expectations review and I need to chime
- 2:47Speaker 2: in on your Boston accent discussion. While I now live
- 2:51Speaker 2: in Philly, I'm a native Bostonian, and I thought the
- 2:53Speaker 2: accent was rather irritating. He wasn't doing a Boston accent
- 2:56Speaker 2: as much as a Kennedy Brahman accent, which is somewhat different.
- 3:00Speaker 2: People with the thickest accents tend to be from working
- 3:03Speaker 2: class areas, like Mark Wahlberg from Oh It says Dorchester.
- 3:07Speaker 2: But I that's like the you know, the phonetic pronunciation doorster.
- 3:12Speaker 2: I don't know a Boston neighborhood. I still have a
- 3:16Speaker 2: fairly distinct accent. I think the best maybe for accents
- 3:20Speaker 2: is the fighter. Every non Bostonian actor does well. The
- 3:23Speaker 2: departed are the worst. I don't know what Jack Nicholson
- 3:27Speaker 2: was doing.
- 3:28Speaker 1: So okay, that's so interesting because she says that those
- 3:33Speaker 1: with the heaviest accent are from usually from like the
- 3:36Speaker 1: working class neighborhoods, right, yes, yes, yes, And Kevin McGarry's
- 3:40Speaker 1: character grew up rich, so he would not be from
- 3:46Speaker 1: the working class neighborhood.
- 3:48Speaker 2: Yeah, it's almost like he's doing a caricature of a
- 3:50Speaker 2: Boston act for sure. For sure.
- 3:51Speaker 1: Hey again, I didn't hate it. I like it. So
- 3:55Speaker 1: it's I just I like that insider information there. Thank you, Paula.
- 3:59Speaker 1: I have a voice memo. We made a call to
- 4:03Speaker 1: the masses. Send us your voice memos on how to
- 4:06Speaker 1: pronounce mister Nile Mader's name and do you want to
- 4:12Speaker 1: hear it?
- 4:13Speaker 2: I do?
- 4:13Speaker 1: Okay, ready, this comes from this comes from peebe And
- 4:17Speaker 1: then I just adore this person.
- 4:20Speaker 2: His name is Nile Major. You know how happy that
- 4:23Speaker 2: makes me that we were saying it correctly throughout all
- 4:26Speaker 2: of last week's episode. Mm hmm yeah, although we've definitely
- 4:30Speaker 2: said it incorrectly part for.
- 4:32Speaker 1: Sure, he's been me all matter. Poor poor guy. Sorry,
- 4:38Speaker 1: I'm sorry.
- 4:40Speaker 2: We know better and we shall do better.
- 4:43Speaker 1: Yes, yes, And lots of people are really into our
- 4:46Speaker 1: inclusion of mister mad into the Wowie Zowie club.
- 4:50Speaker 2: Oh good, welcome, we gotta. I don't know.
- 4:55Speaker 1: I'm feeling like a something's gonna come in the merch
- 4:59Speaker 1: department from the Wowie Zowie line of things. I'm working
- 5:05Speaker 1: at it. It's mullying in my brain right now.
- 5:07Speaker 2: But I'm okay, okay. I saw a preview while I
- 5:11Speaker 2: was watching this movie for Love and Glacier National Park,
- 5:14Speaker 2: and Wendy has not shown any enthusiasm for this movie
- 5:17Speaker 2: A zero zero super excited about it. Why just from
- 5:21Speaker 2: just from the description, I'm like, give me that, like
- 5:25Speaker 2: they have to like save people, I think from an
- 5:27Speaker 2: avalanche or something. But here's what I really like. I
- 5:30Speaker 2: saw the preview and there's two things about this movie
- 5:33Speaker 2: that have me pumped and have cemented my enthusiasm for
- 5:37Speaker 2: this movie. One is it's actually a winter movie. I
- 5:41Speaker 2: have been missing that a lot. I kind of want
- 5:45Speaker 2: to see some movie. I want an autumn movie in autumn.
- 5:48Speaker 2: I want a winter movie in winter, and this is
- 5:50Speaker 2: very snowy and seasonal. I'm very excited about that. The
- 5:53Speaker 2: other thing I'm excited about is it stars Ashley Newbrow.
- 5:57Speaker 2: She's the lead actress. She most recently on Hallmark was
- 6:01Speaker 2: in Christmas for Keeps, which is a twenty twenty one
- 6:03Speaker 2: countdown to Christmas movie, not one that we watched, but
- 6:06Speaker 2: one that my husband and I watched during this past
- 6:09Speaker 2: holiday season. And I actually watched several of her older
- 6:12Speaker 2: movies during this past season, my husband was on a
- 6:14Speaker 2: real Hallmark deep dive. He wasn't super into the new
- 6:16Speaker 2: stuff Hallmark was bringing, and she was new to me.
- 6:21Speaker 2: But she's not new to Hallmark at all, and I
- 6:23Speaker 2: love her. So the fact that she is starring in
- 6:26Speaker 2: this movie, I'm super excited. Look forward to that review.
- 6:30Speaker 1: I'm still not sold on it.
- 6:32Speaker 2: It's gonna be great, It's.
- 6:33Speaker 1: Gonna be gready.
- 6:34Speaker 2: I'm sorry, although I will tell you that the actor
- 6:37Speaker 2: who stars, I apologize for interrupting you, but alongside her
- 6:40Speaker 2: gives me Trevor Donovan vibes. Oh so he's gonna have
- 6:44Speaker 2: to he has a mountain to climb in this movie.
- 6:49Speaker 1: I just feel like I can't help but think of
- 6:52Speaker 1: like the Cindy Busby and Christopher Russell.
- 6:56Speaker 2: No no, no, no, no, no no. I'm declaring it right now.
- 6:59Speaker 2: It is not going to be.
- 7:00Speaker 1: That okay, And how impressed are you that I pulled
- 7:04Speaker 1: out Christopher Russell and Cindy Busby from the Brain from
- 7:09Speaker 1: the files, way back in the Brain.
- 7:11Speaker 2: Very and also, Christopher Russell needs to be in the
- 7:15Speaker 2: Wawie Zowie Club.
- 7:17Speaker 1: Give me a good movie with Christopher Russell. Christopher Well
- 7:21Speaker 1: I gotta tell you, Christopher Russell gives me real Peter
- 7:24Speaker 1: Horton vibes. And that's a real throwback for those who
- 7:28Speaker 1: might remember. Peter Horton played Gary on the show thirty something.
- 7:34Speaker 1: So we're talking. Yeah, I'm sure a show you never watched.
- 7:37Speaker 1: But he's like long hair, scruffy face. I'm gonna show
- 7:40Speaker 1: us side by side picture in the show notes.
- 7:42Speaker 2: Okay, I'm putting a call out to the listeners because
- 7:45Speaker 2: someone's gonna know what I'm talking about. He was in
- 7:48Speaker 2: a movie where he played a single dad. I believe
- 7:53Speaker 2: his wife had passed away. There's a pretty blonde in
- 7:57Speaker 2: the movie. They make a connection.
- 8:00Speaker 1: You guys, send us your emails. Magn' gonna be at
- 8:02Speaker 1: gmail dot com or jump into the dms in.
- 8:04Speaker 2: Hobbit Rolls spacebook somewhere ry Act unlast Hallmark note, you
- 8:11Speaker 2: received a DM with some follow up about Lovely Overland Park, Kansas.
- 8:15Speaker 1: I did. This comes from friend of the show Cozy
- 8:19Speaker 1: Hallmark SIPs. She sent me the following. I live outside
- 8:24Speaker 1: of Kansas City. If you're coming this way for Christmas Con,
- 8:26Speaker 1: it would be so fun to meet you. Plus, Hallmark
- 8:29Speaker 1: headquarters is in Kansas City, Missouri. You will have to
- 8:33Speaker 1: add an extra day to explore because why not so fun?
- 8:36Speaker 1: And Kansas in early June is hot, not horrible, but
- 8:41Speaker 1: not great, So plan accordingly. And then she says she
- 8:44Speaker 1: hopes she can meet us.
- 8:46Speaker 2: That is so lovely. The fact that she threw that in.
- 8:49Speaker 2: I did mention this to my husband. I said, hey,
- 8:52Speaker 2: you want to go to Kansas and he was like, well,
- 8:54Speaker 2: we could catch a Royals game while we're there. So
- 8:57Speaker 2: we need to see if the Royal schedule overlaps with
- 8:59Speaker 2: Chris is gone exciting. Let's move on. Do you have
- 9:02Speaker 2: a synopsis for the wedding veil inspiration?
- 9:05Speaker 1: I assure do you the wedding veil inspiration. Emma's life
- 9:09Speaker 1: plan is thrown off course when polo am I saying
- 9:14Speaker 1: that right, Pollo pallos? Okay, I don't want to do that.
- 9:20Speaker 1: Don't send me your emails p O w l O powlo.
- 9:25Speaker 1: Isn't that what I said? Pow? Oh my god, please,
- 9:31Speaker 1: I'm gonna get in trouble. Okay.
- 9:34Speaker 3: Uh.
- 9:34Speaker 1: Her husband must written no, no, I don't want to
- 9:36Speaker 1: do that either, because we just had this whole conversation
- 9:38Speaker 1: about not putting my effort into saying Paolo. Yes, is
- 9:43Speaker 1: that right, Paolo? And it's his real name too, so
- 9:46Speaker 1: I don't want to okay. Emma's life plan is thrown
- 9:50Speaker 1: off course when Pallo must return to Italy to take
- 9:55Speaker 1: care of his father, and she discovers a new passion
- 9:58Speaker 1: for making art accessible to all, which, yeah, I have
- 10:03Speaker 1: a real problem about.
- 10:04Speaker 2: It's like, did she I remember reading the synopsis of thinking, oh,
- 10:10Speaker 2: I wonder what this is about, and then forgot until
- 10:13Speaker 2: you just read it and they, eh, okay, yeah, some
- 10:18Speaker 2: news and notes for the Wedding Veil Inspiration. I'd like
- 10:21Speaker 2: to cute slimshady Guess who's bad?
- 10:24Speaker 1: Oh yeah, Terry Ingram.
- 10:27Speaker 2: Terry Ingram back in the saddle as director of the
- 10:31Speaker 2: Wedding Veil Inspiration. Now, what's interesting to me is the
- 10:36Speaker 2: IMDb page for The Wedding Veil Journey. Next week's movie
- 10:40Speaker 2: is is sparse at this point. It's not fully completed
- 10:43Speaker 2: and doesn't list a director, and Hallmark has not put
- 10:46Speaker 2: out their press release about this movie, so we don't
- 10:50Speaker 2: know who's directing next week's movie.
- 10:52Speaker 1: Hold that thought, hang on a second, because I think
- 10:54Speaker 1: somebody in our Facebook group had mentioned it. So let
- 10:58Speaker 1: me go back and.
- 11:00Speaker 2: Pull it apick, you know what you're talking about? That
- 11:02Speaker 2: is ringing a bell for me.
- 11:05Speaker 1: Our Facebook group member Michaels had posted something that says
- 11:10Speaker 1: director Ron Oliver on location in Greece.
- 11:14Speaker 2: Yeah, good, good job pulling that one for the memory banks,
- 11:16Speaker 2: because I do recall reading that. Okay, So that answers
- 11:19Speaker 2: that question.
- 11:20Speaker 1: Yes, how did you feel about you know, give me
- 11:25Speaker 1: your movie by movie comparison on how Terry Ingram did
- 11:31Speaker 1: compare to Peter Benson last week?
- 11:33Speaker 2: Can we wait for my first impression because it addresses
- 11:36Speaker 2: that very Oh okay?
- 11:38Speaker 1: Then this movie was filmed in Victoria, Canada during November
- 11:41Speaker 1: twenty twenty two.
- 11:43Speaker 2: Talk about a fast turnaround liggety split. This was written
- 11:46Speaker 2: by Betsy Morris, who also wrote A Kids Met Christmas
- 11:49Speaker 2: from twenty twenty two's Countdown to Christmas lineup, which coincidentally
- 11:55Speaker 2: starred Carla Marx, who plays Mateo in this movie.
- 12:00Speaker 1: I know, isn't that funny? I I am not familiar
- 12:03Speaker 1: with Carlo Marx. I did watch A Kisnt Christmas too,
- 12:07Speaker 1: I don't remember him in it well.
- 12:10Speaker 2: In our Hallmark deep dive that my husband and I
- 12:13Speaker 2: did during the Christmas season. One of the movies we
- 12:16Speaker 2: watched was Angel Falls and novel Holiday. And what is
- 12:18Speaker 2: funny about that movie is I swear I have referenced
- 12:21Speaker 2: that eight hundred times since then. Jen Lilly is in
- 12:24Speaker 2: that movie. It's actually a sweet movie. But Carla Marx
- 12:26Speaker 2: is in that movie as well.
- 12:28Speaker 1: He's also in thirty four episodes of Chesapeake Shores. He
- 12:31Speaker 1: plays David Peck.
- 12:33Speaker 2: This movie also stars Casey Role as Lily And on
- 12:37Speaker 2: the Hallmark actor resume, Bingo mark yours squares for Once
- 12:42Speaker 2: upon a Time.
- 12:43Speaker 1: I saw that. I saw that, but but wait for it.
- 12:49Speaker 1: Her dad. She comes from a showbized family and her
- 12:51Speaker 1: dad is named Mike Roll, who has a pretty extensive
- 12:55Speaker 1: directing resume, including tons of Hallmark movies, Chesapeake Shores and
- 13:00Speaker 1: and Date My Dad.
- 13:03Speaker 2: Oh no, sang, that's another deep cut Hallmark resume, Bingo get.
- 13:12Speaker 1: Yeah, totally. He did five episodes of Date My Dad,
- 13:14Speaker 1: which was only on for one season, so.
- 13:17Speaker 2: I think maybe he did eight episodes.
- 13:19Speaker 1: He did five of them.
- 13:20Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 13:21Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 13:22Speaker 2: Wow, she's a nepo baby, she is, but incredibly talented
- 13:28Speaker 2: in her own right.
- 13:30Speaker 1: Yeah. She I saw that. She has forty six acting credits.
- 13:33Speaker 1: She was also in The Good Doctor Wayward Pines.
- 13:37Speaker 2: Lots did you watch?
- 13:38Speaker 3: Lots?
- 13:38Speaker 2: No?
- 13:39Speaker 1: Did you know?
- 13:41Speaker 2: But I've read two of the books in the series.
- 13:44Speaker 2: I'm not totally sure that I knew there was a series.
- 13:47Speaker 2: Maybe I did. Anyway, I would be interested to watch
- 13:50Speaker 2: it having read the books. You might not like it,
- 13:54Speaker 2: Little Fi.
- 13:55Speaker 1: Oh god, no no, no, no, no, no, no, no,
- 13:58Speaker 1: its not I think.
- 14:00Speaker 2: Think we need to issue a challenge to you if
- 14:04Speaker 2: you listen to our other podcast, Long Story Short with
- 14:06Speaker 2: Megan and Wendy. We monthly talk about pop culture, and
- 14:09Speaker 2: Wendy is famously anti science fiction. But I feel like
- 14:12Speaker 2: in your mind, you're like, I don't want to watch Star.
- 14:15Speaker 1: Trek one hundred percent.
- 14:18Speaker 2: But I think so much science fiction is very subtly
- 14:23Speaker 2: science fiction. I'm gonna come up with a good example
- 14:26Speaker 2: that I'm going to challenge you to watch, and you
- 14:28Speaker 2: can issue me a similar challenge of something that I'm
- 14:31Speaker 2: famously like, I'll watch a scary movie. Okay, I'm telling
- 14:36Speaker 2: you it's not all Star Trek. Well, okay, I might
- 14:42Speaker 2: be open to it. Just consider.
- 14:44Speaker 1: I read an article that there was some real snow
- 14:47Speaker 1: during the wedding scene at the very end. I guess
- 14:51Speaker 1: they're in an area that hasn't snowed in like forever,
- 14:55Speaker 1: and then it's magically snowed, real snow during the scene.
- 15:00Speaker 2: That's exciting. They it was also snowing. Or there's a
- 15:03Speaker 2: restaurant scene with the ladies and they show a pullback
- 15:07Speaker 2: shot where they all have like jackets wrapped around their body.
- 15:11Speaker 2: But the shot was shot really tight, so they were
- 15:13Speaker 2: allowed to keep them on. I could see you were
- 15:15Speaker 2: like the necklines of their dresses. Oh, that's funny. That's
- 15:19Speaker 2: really funny.
- 15:20Speaker 1: I mean, I'm guessing in November and Victoria it's pretty cold,
- 15:25Speaker 1: right again.
- 15:26Speaker 2: It's kind of the opposite of filming a Christmas movie
- 15:29Speaker 2: in the middle of summer.
- 15:31Speaker 1: I'm not great with the Canadian geography, so I have
- 15:34Speaker 1: no clue where Victoria.
- 15:35Speaker 2: Canada is. It is off the west coast of Canada. Okay,
- 15:40Speaker 2: it's an island.
- 15:41Speaker 1: I did graduate college. Guys, I just don't know anything
- 15:44Speaker 1: about Canada.
- 15:45Speaker 2: Sorry, I only know I've been there. That's the only reason.
- 15:49Speaker 1: Of course you've been there. You've been every freaking where.
- 15:51Speaker 1: I have not.
- 15:52Speaker 2: But I have been on an Alaskan cruise or two,
- 15:56Speaker 2: and that is often a stop on an Alaskan cruise.
- 16:00Speaker 3: When we are we talking about, oh, in the Dating
- 16:03Speaker 3: The Dog's Guide to Dating or whatever, we're talking about
- 16:06Speaker 3: the small little like area where it's called Labrador and Newfoundland,
- 16:12Speaker 3: and there was Saint John and you're liking, I've been there,
- 16:15Speaker 3: and I.
- 16:15Speaker 2: Was like, also on a cruise, you've been everywhere. I
- 16:20Speaker 2: really haven't. There's many many places I haven't been. Just
- 16:22Speaker 2: I've been to obscure Hallmark movie filming locations. Are you
- 16:27Speaker 2: ready for first impressions? I am Mine Is, and once
- 16:30Speaker 2: again the wedding Veil franchise has my heart.
- 16:33Speaker 1: Oh that's sweet, Okay, Mine Is. I don't want to
- 16:36Speaker 1: be accused of woman on woman crime, so I'm going
- 16:39Speaker 1: to abstain from my first impression. Oh no, wait, tell me.
- 16:56Speaker 2: Let's talk about what we liked about this movie.
- 16:59Speaker 1: Yeah, would you like to kill first?
- 17:01Speaker 2: Sure? Big picture. I felt like everything was leveled up
- 17:06Speaker 2: in this movie. The friendship between the ladies felt really
- 17:11Speaker 2: genuine and real. I think it does in all of
- 17:13Speaker 2: these movies, but it just felt like something special, Like
- 17:15Speaker 2: when they're all sitting in bed talking, when there's a
- 17:19Speaker 2: specific scene I'll talk about it in a minute, but
- 17:21Speaker 2: they just felt like a real friendship between people who
- 17:24Speaker 2: were actually friends, and that came across un scene. I
- 17:27Speaker 2: also think the romantic relationship is was more enjoyable for
- 17:34Speaker 2: me to watch in this movie. Oh really, I didn't.
- 17:37Speaker 2: I didn't dislike Lacey and Kevin, and I really I
- 17:42Speaker 2: don't know something about Emma and Powella. I was like, oh,
- 17:44Speaker 2: like that feels like the house that they live in
- 17:46Speaker 2: and the coffee maker that they can't get to work
- 17:48Speaker 2: and all of these other things she's making mac and
- 17:50Speaker 2: cheese and hot dogs.
- 17:52Speaker 1: Oh my god, that was so funny.
- 17:54Speaker 2: I loved it.
- 17:55Speaker 1: See, I have to credit like the writer of this movie,
- 17:58Speaker 1: because obviously she hasn't done any of the other wedding
- 18:01Speaker 1: film movies. There were some great lines in this movie. Yes,
- 18:05Speaker 1: so I want to shout out Betsy Morris because I
- 18:09Speaker 1: just think that there were timely and relevant and more
- 18:16Speaker 1: more youthful. I think conversations in this movie that I
- 18:21Speaker 1: enjoyed quite a bit. Yeah. Yeah, I thought the story
- 18:25Speaker 1: too big picture. I thought this story was so much
- 18:29Speaker 1: better than Expectations, a movie I still really liked. But
- 18:33Speaker 1: comparing the two movies, that movie I said like it
- 18:37Speaker 1: needed more meat. I just and this one was layered
- 18:42Speaker 1: better for me. I don't really know how to articulate it,
- 18:46Speaker 1: but I just thought, like you said, was leveled up.
- 18:49Speaker 1: There was I cared more about the characters. Yeah, it
- 18:55Speaker 1: just was executed better for me.
- 18:57Speaker 2: I like your comment about it being layered better because
- 18:59Speaker 2: I know last week we talked about there being too
- 19:01Speaker 2: many pieces, but like you said, not enough substance in
- 19:05Speaker 2: all of those pieces. And I think the different storylines,
- 19:08Speaker 2: there are a number of them happening here. You're right,
- 19:11Speaker 2: they do play well together, right, to create one big
- 19:17Speaker 2: picture instead of five different little paths.
- 19:19Speaker 3: Right.
- 19:19Speaker 1: And I think we are given this same formula for
- 19:22Speaker 1: each movie, like career, marriage, Family, Right, those are the
- 19:26Speaker 1: three like pinnacles that we're dealing with. It just was
- 19:30Speaker 1: a better It was just a better story for me.
- 19:33Speaker 2: I think so too for me. I have several scenes
- 19:38Speaker 2: that I loved in this movie. The ladies have a
- 19:41Speaker 2: conversation about what's keeping Emma in Chicago and they get
- 19:46Speaker 2: real with her. You know, she's saying, like, well, my
- 19:49Speaker 2: job's so important to me, but Paolo is putting his
- 19:52Speaker 2: job above me, and they give her the look like, girl,
- 19:55Speaker 2: that is what you are doing too. And I liked
- 19:58Speaker 2: that they held her accountable while still supporting her and
- 20:01Speaker 2: being there for her. That was a real friendship moment
- 20:06Speaker 2: for me.
- 20:06Speaker 1: Yeah, you know, because me, I would be selfish. I'd
- 20:09Speaker 1: be like, yeah, you're not leaving, You're not moving to Italy,
- 20:13Speaker 1: You're my best friend, Like I knew you here, you know.
- 20:16Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 20:17Speaker 1: So I really liked that they were supportive of her.
- 20:22Speaker 1: They're like, yes, like, go be with your husband. You know.
- 20:25Speaker 2: Does it help that they already don't live in the
- 20:28Speaker 2: same location, so they're already not able to just get
- 20:31Speaker 2: together for brunch on a Sunday. It's they had to
- 20:34Speaker 2: hop on a plane.
- 20:35Speaker 1: Yeah, probably, probably.
- 20:37Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 20:37Speaker 1: I really really loved Casey role in this movie.
- 20:41Speaker 2: Uh huh.
- 20:42Speaker 1: I she played Lily. I just thought she was I
- 20:46Speaker 1: enjoyed her so much as an actor, but her character
- 20:50Speaker 1: was like fun and just was a breath of fresh air,
- 20:53Speaker 1: and I just adored her.
- 20:57Speaker 2: How much did you love her wedding dress?
- 21:00Speaker 1: I don't even know. It was short, right, yes, yeah,
- 21:03Speaker 1: it was very like her, right yes.
- 21:06Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 21:07Speaker 1: And it's kind of funny because the whole like magic
- 21:12Speaker 1: of the wedding veil was like a through line in
- 21:15Speaker 1: this movie. But it wasn't again, not a you know,
- 21:19Speaker 1: it wasn't the it wasn't the main character was Okay, sorry,
- 21:23Speaker 1: yeah exactly. So I mean, did I need them to
- 21:26Speaker 1: get married at the end, No, But we're not going
- 21:30Speaker 1: to probably see them again unless there's some sort of
- 21:32Speaker 1: spin off, but we're not going to see them again.
- 21:35Speaker 1: So like, yeah, I guess, I guess having them get
- 21:38Speaker 1: married was the resolution that we would expect from this movie,
- 21:43Speaker 1: from this trilogy.
- 21:45Speaker 2: Wonder to that point of not seeing them again, are
- 21:48Speaker 2: they setting these movies up with these additional love stories
- 21:53Speaker 2: to have their own you know, the wedding veil extension.
- 21:57Speaker 1: I mean, if Lacy's sher bab subet there it is.
- 22:01Speaker 1: I haven't done that so long. If Lacy Sharbert is smart,
- 22:05Speaker 1: because she's the one of the executive producers in this movie,
- 22:08Speaker 1: I think that's the way to go. You just franchise, franchise,
- 22:13Speaker 1: franchise off, and then make make that money and money
- 22:16Speaker 1: and money, you know, and people keep coming back because
- 22:18Speaker 1: it's familiar. Quick side note, Yeah, someone was calling out
- 22:23Speaker 1: CCB on Twitter for something wholly unrelated.
- 22:26Speaker 2: I don't even remember what they were calling her. It
- 22:28Speaker 2: was something I don't it had nothing to do with Hallmark,
- 22:31Speaker 2: but I clicked through to her Twitter profile and in
- 22:34Speaker 2: her bio it says, Queen of Christmas, get out hand
- 22:39Speaker 2: to God.
- 22:40Speaker 1: Oh my good.
- 22:41Speaker 2: Okay to your comment about this being really the dialogue
- 22:45Speaker 2: being really fresh and funny. When the ladies meet Mateo,
- 22:50Speaker 2: it's his first winter in Chicago and he's like, I
- 22:53Speaker 2: got sacks in the jacket and Tracy looks him, she goes,
- 22:56Speaker 2: You're gonna die, and it totally the delivery was impact.
- 23:00Speaker 2: I laughed out loud me too. I did too.
- 23:03Speaker 1: I very much feel like a kindred spirit with her.
- 23:08Speaker 1: Total Yeah, that was funny. That was funny. I have
- 23:14Speaker 1: a note here about Carlo Marx. I I liked him
- 23:17Speaker 1: a lot. Yeah, I got a lot of laughs from him.
- 23:19Speaker 1: I loved like when, oh that scene between him and
- 23:23Speaker 1: Lily and he's like telling her, like's for today, let's
- 23:27Speaker 1: just you know, see where we are today, you know,
- 23:31Speaker 1: not thinking in bead in the future. I just was like, oh, swoon,
- 23:35Speaker 1: Like yes, why can't all.
- 23:38Speaker 2: Men be like that, you know whatever. One tiny little
- 23:42Speaker 2: moment when they set up the video call between Emma
- 23:47Speaker 2: and Paolo and they put a baby pool with boats
- 23:50Speaker 2: in it.
- 23:52Speaker 1: I don't remember seeing what what does that have to
- 23:55Speaker 1: do with anything? A baby pool with boats because he is.
- 23:59Speaker 2: In Italy and he's I guess in Venice on the water,
- 24:03Speaker 2: and so they put like a little baby pool next.
- 24:06Speaker 1: All listen that whole scene. First of all, I've watched
- 24:11Speaker 1: way too much true crime. If I would have come
- 24:14Speaker 1: home and saw like music candles, I wouldn't be like, hello,
- 24:19Speaker 1: who's here? I would have run out the front door
- 24:22Speaker 1: and no way sleeping.
- 24:27Speaker 2: With the enemy. Conversation we had on our other podcast recently,
- 24:31Speaker 2: there's just no way a thousand percent. Let's move on
- 24:34Speaker 2: to what we wished for.
- 24:36Speaker 1: Okay, can I go first? Please wake up Emma. This
- 24:40Speaker 1: is not the job for you. So there's so many
- 24:46Speaker 1: I'm sorry to interrupt you. There's so many like problems
- 24:48Speaker 1: with that whole storyline for me, because the boss was terrible,
- 24:55Speaker 1: the we're horrible, terrible, awful boss. Like, first of all,
- 24:59Speaker 1: you don't make somebody feels bad about who they are, Like,
- 25:02Speaker 1: that's a terrible like she was trying to get Emma
- 25:04Speaker 1: to quit the job. A real boss, a real leader,
- 25:07Speaker 1: would have sat down with her and been like, you're
- 25:10Speaker 1: not cut out for this job or this is not
- 25:12Speaker 1: a fit for you or whatever, and I have to
- 25:15Speaker 1: go back to a show that we watched on free
- 25:19Speaker 1: Form called The Bold Type and Malaura Harden played Jacqueline Carlyle,
- 25:25Speaker 1: and she was a great boss. She had hard conversations,
- 25:30Speaker 1: she was a great leader. Like it just felt like
- 25:35Speaker 1: a huge disservice, like why are you making this person
- 25:39Speaker 1: who's in charge so terrible because Emma is clearly good
- 25:42Speaker 1: at her job, like she's but she's not made to
- 25:45Speaker 1: be like this, you know, manager type or whatever. Ugh,
- 25:50Speaker 1: it was so frustrating to watch.
- 25:53Speaker 2: Yeah, Nancy was like the boyfriend who's mean to you
- 25:56Speaker 2: so you'll break up with him so he doesn't have
- 25:58Speaker 2: to break up with you. And I hated it so much.
- 26:05Speaker 2: When the reveal is I was just trying to make
- 26:07Speaker 2: you realize that you don't want this job. I mean,
- 26:10Speaker 2: have the tiniest bit of backbone and have the conversation
- 26:14Speaker 2: and say to her, is this really the job you want?
- 26:17Speaker 2: Because what I see in you as someone who's been
- 26:20Speaker 2: doing this forever is well, now you've wasted all of
- 26:24Speaker 2: this time because now he's gonna come take that job,
- 26:26Speaker 2: and you've put her in this horrible position. That was
- 26:30Speaker 2: the weak point in this movie for me.
- 26:34Speaker 1: I agree. Now let me go back because back in
- 26:36Speaker 1: our synopsis it says Emma discovers a new passion for
- 26:39Speaker 1: making aren't accessible to all. I'm guessing she's talking about
- 26:44Speaker 1: or that's talking about the videos she was making.
- 26:48Speaker 2: I think the point is she's saying like, art is
- 26:51Speaker 2: everywhere if you know where to look for it, and
- 26:53Speaker 2: so by creating these videos, she's showing you that I
- 26:57Speaker 2: guess you don't have to be standing in a museum
- 27:00Speaker 2: to find and appreciate art.
- 27:02Speaker 1: Okay, fair, But she didn't even want to do the videos, right,
- 27:06Speaker 1: It was not a passion for her. It was no,
- 27:09Speaker 1: it was like Lily knew what she was doing because
- 27:12Speaker 1: Lily is young and knows what is popping on the internet.
- 27:18Speaker 2: I don't know. Yeah, right.
- 27:21Speaker 1: Here's something that really bugged me too, is in this
- 27:26Speaker 1: movie there's too much travel, Like, how realistic is it
- 27:29Speaker 1: for Paulo to like come back to Chicago so many
- 27:33Speaker 1: times from Italy? Yeah, I'm just gonna pop in for
- 27:36Speaker 1: the weekend and turn around and head back like what
- 27:40Speaker 1: frequent flyer miles seriously? And then the friends too, like
- 27:44Speaker 1: do they visit twice. What kind of time frame are
- 27:49Speaker 1: we talking about here? This? You know, are we talking
- 27:52Speaker 1: about a full semester? Is this three months? Like we
- 27:55Speaker 1: were never really given like a proper time frame, right,
- 27:59Speaker 1: But they just like show up. I don't know, it's
- 28:01Speaker 1: just too much, too much. I think with the friends,
- 28:05Speaker 1: I think it's okay to be on a video call
- 28:07Speaker 1: with them or FaceTime or whatever, like, they don't have
- 28:12Speaker 1: to show up everything.
- 28:13Speaker 2: So those signs pop so much when they're in the
- 28:16Speaker 2: same room together. But yeah, they visit twice and then
- 28:19Speaker 2: they're all together at the end for the wedding. I
- 28:23Speaker 2: think I'm just gonna have to let this one go
- 28:25Speaker 2: because I do like it when they're in the same room.
- 28:28Speaker 2: I think those scenes obviously are so much better than
- 28:31Speaker 2: the video calls. But who who can do that? Like
- 28:35Speaker 2: taken off for the weekend and Avery has a baby
- 28:39Speaker 2: right exactly?
- 28:40Speaker 1: Anyway, Yeah, and why would those two even come to
- 28:44Speaker 1: that wedding? Like why would they be invited because of
- 28:46Speaker 1: the veil? Was she wearing the veil like they I'm
- 28:49Speaker 1: certain she probably was, but I mean, like, why would
- 28:53Speaker 1: they go? Why would they be invited to that? They wouldn't?
- 28:56Speaker 2: Yeah, it was more believable for them to be at
- 28:58Speaker 2: Peter's mom's because that's their best friends husband's mom. Right, yes, exactly, Okay,
- 29:06Speaker 2: I like that. Are you ready for to see that?
- 29:08Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 29:09Speaker 2: I don't know how you could have missed it. I'm
- 29:11Speaker 2: sure you thought. Why the ladies are drinking Hallmark Channel wine? Oh?
- 29:15Speaker 1: I did not see it. I didn't see it.
- 29:17Speaker 2: Multiple scenes they pour Hallmark Channel wine.
- 29:21Speaker 1: Really, I didn't they pour the rose.
- 29:24Speaker 2: They pour a red. I mean they just oh yeah,
- 29:26Speaker 2: oh yeah, Oh that's funny.
- 29:28Speaker 1: I didn't have any like legitimate did you see that?
- 29:31Speaker 1: One was Emma's mirror at her house was straight out
- 29:35Speaker 1: of high school. She had like her five year plan
- 29:37Speaker 1: taped on it and then pictures of her and her
- 29:39Speaker 1: best friends. Like, I was like, welcome to my fifteen
- 29:43Speaker 1: year old bedroom. That was so weird. It was weird.
- 29:49Speaker 1: It was weird. And how about that deep dish pizza? Yeah,
- 29:53Speaker 1: somebody who's been to Chicago, Megan, Actually we've been there together.
- 29:57Speaker 1: We did not have pizza from what I recall, But
- 30:00Speaker 1: do you like a deep dish pizza?
- 30:02Speaker 2: Oh? I got a story for you.
- 30:04Speaker 1: Let me hear it.
- 30:05Speaker 2: There's a Chicago style pizzeria nearby, and a number of
- 30:10Speaker 2: years ago, we went there for a friend's birthday who's
- 30:15Speaker 2: from Chicago, and I think there was like a Cubs
- 30:17Speaker 2: game or something on at the time, and so I
- 30:21Speaker 2: was there and you know, I'm a big pain in
- 30:23Speaker 2: the neck and I don't eat dairy and another friend
- 30:25Speaker 2: of mine was there and she's vegan, and we're like, great,
- 30:27Speaker 2: we're gonna order like a small cheese less pizza for
- 30:30Speaker 2: the two of us to share. And they were like, oh,
- 30:32Speaker 2: we can't do that. And I was like, what do
- 30:34Speaker 2: you mean you can't do that. She's like, it's not
- 30:36Speaker 2: gonna it's not gonna taste good without the cheese. I'm like, yeah,
- 30:39Speaker 2: I get that it is an inferior experience without the cheese,
- 30:42Speaker 2: but like, what's the option here? And she was like, oh,
- 30:44Speaker 2: they won't make it, and they had to call the chef.
- 30:48Speaker 2: By the way, it's like a pizzeria. We're not in
- 30:50Speaker 2: like a Michelin star restaurant. I'm not saying that they
- 30:53Speaker 2: weren't good at their job, but they were very precious
- 30:55Speaker 2: about their pizza.
- 30:56Speaker 1: What's wrong with just crust some sauce. I mean, I
- 30:58Speaker 1: think that sounds good too.
- 31:00Speaker 2: But apparently it ruins the experience. Ultimately, they did agree
- 31:03Speaker 2: to tell us a pizza without cheese.
- 31:05Speaker 1: For me, the crest is the experience anyway, That's what
- 31:08Speaker 1: I give me the carbohydrates. I don't care about the cheese.
- 31:12Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 31:13Speaker 1: One last little like funny conversation that I enjoyed in
- 31:16Speaker 1: this movie was the conversation between Emma and Lily, and
- 31:20Speaker 1: it was about Emma's article that she had written, and
- 31:24Speaker 1: first of all, she told her it was bad, which
- 31:26Speaker 1: I thought was funny, and then she said that there
- 31:29Speaker 1: was a typo in it that she had spelled the
- 31:31Speaker 1: word veil wrong. And I got to tell you, every
- 31:36Speaker 1: time I write up our show notes for this, I
- 31:38Speaker 1: have to double check veil because I'm like, is it
- 31:41Speaker 1: I E or EI? Every single time?
- 31:45Speaker 3: Oh?
- 31:45Speaker 2: Interesting?
- 31:46Speaker 1: So I feel the pain.
- 31:48Speaker 2: Yeah, but did she misspell veil? And how did that happen?
- 31:50Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 31:51Speaker 2: They're publishing articles without proofre editor reading them.
- 31:56Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 31:57Speaker 2: Commn. Finally, one last funny did you see that moment
- 32:01Speaker 2: they're talking about Emma's video and they're like, you have
- 32:04Speaker 2: one hundred thousand views, It's been shared a lot, and
- 32:08Speaker 2: I just lost it because let me tell you, one
- 32:12Speaker 2: hundred thousand views is like throwaway. We have a dumb
- 32:15Speaker 2: video of my dog that just broke eight hundred thousand views. Yeah,
- 32:20Speaker 2: and it is our most viewed anything ever, which is
- 32:24Speaker 2: hilarious to me. But I just thought, like, that's not
- 32:28Speaker 2: the one hundred thousand is not the line for something
- 32:30Speaker 2: going viral. They needed like someone who was ten years
- 32:33Speaker 2: younger on this set to be like what we wrote
- 32:35Speaker 2: that line?
- 32:36Speaker 1: Yeah? Yeah, yeah, who'd you rate this movie three.
- 32:40Speaker 2: Point seven five stars? I gave it four stars? Yeah,
- 32:44Speaker 2: we're on a roll here, you I believe I gave
- 32:47Speaker 2: more generous.
- 32:48Speaker 1: Yeah, I that's funny.
- 32:51Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 32:51Speaker 1: I think I give Expectations four stars too. And I'm
- 32:55Speaker 1: not trying to compare both the movies. I don't want
- 32:57Speaker 1: to do that because then, of course that's going to
- 32:59Speaker 1: change my rate. But I enjoyed this movie quite a bit.
- 33:03Speaker 2: I did too. I don't think three point seventy five
- 33:06Speaker 2: stars is a band rating. I'm gonna be honest.
- 33:09Speaker 1: Yeah, I don't think so either, because I have seen
- 33:11Speaker 1: some really terrible reviews for.
- 33:12Speaker 2: This movie, oh have you? Yeah?
- 33:15Speaker 1: Yeah, I kind of think people are over it. I
- 33:19Speaker 1: have a kind of an off topic question for you,
- 33:23Speaker 1: and again, don't come for me with your emails about
- 33:26Speaker 1: woman on woman crime here. But here's a question. Autumn
- 33:29Speaker 1: Research is like forty two years old in real life.
- 33:33Speaker 1: How old are they supposed to be as these characters.
- 33:37Speaker 2: I don't think they've were giving that information.
- 33:39Speaker 1: Okay, So Lacy Sharbert and Onum Reser are in their
- 33:43Speaker 1: forties right, and here they are having babies, and it's
- 33:45Speaker 1: just like, it's hard to have a baby in your forties,
- 33:50Speaker 1: Like it's not even addressed. It kind of bothers me.
- 33:54Speaker 2: Yeah, harder to get pregnant. Yes, I think we can
- 33:58Speaker 2: safely assume using nine o two one oh age math,
- 34:02Speaker 2: they're supposed to be at least five, if not ten
- 34:05Speaker 2: years younger than their actual ages. Okay, I would guess
- 34:09Speaker 2: they're supposed to be in their mid thirties. But the
- 34:11Speaker 2: weird thing about this is so much time has passed
- 34:14Speaker 2: in this trilogy, which they don't really acknowledge. We're like
- 34:18Speaker 2: six years in at this point from the start of
- 34:20Speaker 2: the trilogy, so even though nobody's actually aging except the baby,
- 34:27Speaker 2: So how are they going to address this next week
- 34:28Speaker 2: when like, what's their faces? Haven't even taken a honeymoon, like,
- 34:31Speaker 2: how long has it been that they've been married?
- 34:33Speaker 3: Now?
- 34:34Speaker 1: Because forty eight years old and surprise exactly.
- 34:38Speaker 2: We are suspending disbelief.
- 34:42Speaker 1: I know, it just bugs me.
- 34:43Speaker 2: It bugs me.
- 34:44Speaker 1: I will suspend disbelief.
- 34:46Speaker 2: Tomorrow we kick off our recap series of The Way Home.
- 34:52Speaker 2: We hope you will come back for that, and next
- 34:54Speaker 2: week we'll be back to wrap up the Wedding Veil
- 34:56Speaker 2: series too. With the Wedding Veil, we'd love for you
- 34:59Speaker 2: to ratings and review of your five star ratings and reviews.
- 35:05Speaker 2: Four Girls Gone Hallmark. Hop into our Facebook group also
- 35:08Speaker 2: called Girls Cone Hallmark and let us know what you
- 35:11Speaker 2: thought of this movie.
- 35:14Speaker 1: Goodbye bye
