- 0:19Speaker 3: in Brazil wants to know where else can I listen
- 0:22Speaker 3: to Paul Parrillo talk if you're a local any library.
- 0:26Speaker 4: I was there a couple of years ago and Christmas,
- 0:28Speaker 4: and I was like, fine, I mean, granted, like I'm
- 0:31Speaker 4: not playing in the game, but I'm not.
- 0:33Speaker 3: Tired of all.
- 0:34Speaker 2: But as I don't know, this altitude thing doesn't really
- 0:37Speaker 2: bother me.
- 0:37Speaker 3: Good stuff. AFC East Patriots.
- 0:39Speaker 2: Run the East. Josh Allen at six touchdowns though, so
- 0:42Speaker 2: get ready in a few.
- 0:43Speaker 3: Oh you guys, and you're get ready be here. I
- 0:46Speaker 3: don't want any piece of Mahomes. A lot of people
- 0:48Speaker 3: had pieces of him and they're beaten them.
- 0:51Speaker 4: You want to play Mahomes in a wildcard game? I
- 0:53Speaker 4: don't know, Like just like that, you're one and done
- 0:55Speaker 4: in all this great juju that we have this season.
- 0:58Speaker 2: So you've already lost the game.
- 1:00Speaker 3: Now you want the number one scene, right, and you
- 1:01Speaker 3: guys are afraid who's wanting to All of.
- 1:05Speaker 4: A sudden Baltimore sneaks in or Kansas City sneaks in,
- 1:09Speaker 4: and now you're playing one of those teams, and.
- 1:10Speaker 3: Now we're going to lose. All season. We're being told
- 1:13Speaker 3: you got an easy schedule, easy schedule. Then you get
- 1:15Speaker 3: to the playoffs and you want more easy schedule. Yes,
- 1:18Speaker 3: you know who taught me that, Fred Kurk, not me,
- 1:22Speaker 3: not me. I take on all comers. Oh yeah, this
- 1:25Speaker 3: is Patriots Unfiltered.
- 1:26Speaker 2: Presented by Toyota's official website.
- 1:28Speaker 3: For deals, buy a Toyota dot com. All right, welcome
- 1:33Speaker 3: the Patriots Unfiltered. It is Wednesday here at Jillese Stadium,
- 1:38Speaker 3: and it's Evan, it's Paul. No, wow, not Paul. It's
- 1:41Speaker 3: deuced to me Alex and Matt and the booth. Paul
- 1:44Speaker 3: is out. He actually traveled to New York today to
- 1:47Speaker 3: appeal the Jamar Chase uh non appeal. He wants to
- 1:51Speaker 3: Chase to be able to play. He can't believe that
- 1:54Speaker 3: the league upheld this.
- 1:55Speaker 4: Well, I know that it wasn't. Actually that's not the
- 1:59Speaker 4: president wasn't yet.
- 2:00Speaker 5: Right, so right, you were saying that actually sneezed, and
- 2:03Speaker 5: it was it was snots not spits.
- 2:05Speaker 4: But he's they're setting a real precedent with Jaen Carter.
- 2:09Speaker 3: So now I guess this if according to Paul, now
- 2:13Speaker 3: this is the precedent, so the next time they have
- 2:16Speaker 3: to do it right because the precedent has been set. Anyway,
- 2:20Speaker 3: we kid. Paul is out though he's got some stuff
- 2:22Speaker 3: to take care of today, So it's the three of us.
- 2:25Speaker 5: I think Alex might be joining us a little later.
- 2:27Speaker 5: I'm going to stay with you, Fred, I'm not going
- 2:29Speaker 5: to go to the locker room. We don't want to
- 2:30Speaker 5: leave leave you alone for you wouldn't.
- 2:32Speaker 3: Be the first time I've done solo before.
- 2:35Speaker 2: Everyone loves f you.
- 2:36Speaker 3: I've done so low before.
- 2:38Speaker 2: Have you thought what do you do?
- 2:39Speaker 5: I was thinking about Nicetuff Christian ar can't have me
- 2:42Speaker 5: on last night, and I just wonderedim, like, how does
- 2:44Speaker 5: how do you do a solo?
- 2:45Speaker 2: And Joe Murray does it? How do you do a solo?
- 2:47Speaker 3: It's just stream of consciousness and like you're just sitting
- 2:49Speaker 3: there all day thinking about like I could talk about that.
- 2:51Speaker 3: You repeat yourself a lot.
- 2:53Speaker 4: You need a good producer so that you can talk
- 2:56Speaker 4: at least have the producer talk a little bit. Yeah,
- 2:58Speaker 4: you know, So it's not completely.
- 3:00Speaker 2: Just overwhelming to me.
- 3:02Speaker 3: Well, and our show, it's not too bad because you know,
- 3:06Speaker 3: you've got the callers and you've got the emailers, so
- 3:08Speaker 3: they keep you company. Sure, but I've done solo before. Yeah,
- 3:12Speaker 3: that's at it's tough though, like you know, especially when
- 3:16Speaker 3: you're doing a four hour show every night.
- 3:19Speaker 4: Yeah, it's tough with the you know, the state of radio. Unfortunately,
- 3:22Speaker 4: like they don't they don't have the budget for a
- 3:25Speaker 4: second chair on these night shows. So now all these
- 3:28Speaker 4: night shows are so.
- 3:30Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, yeah, anyway, Okay, so today is our turn
- 3:34Speaker 3: the page day and Rabel what time is he today?
- 3:38Speaker 3: One ten? So we'll go to Mike Rabel Live when
- 3:42Speaker 3: he does his thing at one ten a little Lakes.
- 3:45Speaker 3: Every week, it's a little later, a little later practice
- 3:48Speaker 3: getting ready for that Monday night football game.
- 3:50Speaker 5: I think pulling back a little bit on the schedule generally,
- 3:53Speaker 5: I think you're trying to make the most of it.
- 3:55Speaker 2: Late by a week.
- 3:57Speaker 4: I think the team is feeling the late by, and
- 4:00Speaker 4: I think they're trying to shorten practice but still have
- 4:05Speaker 4: the ability to be you know, full speed in practice,
- 4:08Speaker 4: but maybe just not for as long because I don't
- 4:10Speaker 4: think they want to lose the speed periods as they
- 4:13Speaker 4: call them.
- 4:14Speaker 6: Yep.
- 4:14Speaker 3: So so we do turn the page on Wednesday, and
- 4:18Speaker 3: this week when we turn the page, we are looking
- 4:23Speaker 3: at the Cincinnati Bengals.
- 4:24Speaker 2: Let me just cross off.
- 4:26Speaker 3: And according to Evans' game plan that I just read
- 4:32Speaker 3: that you haven't posted, Look, you're posting it tomorrow, little
- 4:36Speaker 3: sneak preview. You're not very high on their defense.
- 4:39Speaker 2: It's hard to be.
- 4:40Speaker 4: We were just talking about this on Catch twenty two
- 4:43Speaker 4: because Alex and I normally try to come up with
- 4:46Speaker 4: some things that the opponent could do that would give
- 4:49Speaker 4: the Patriots problems and be somewhat balanced. But with this
- 4:52Speaker 4: Bengals defense, especially without Trey Hendrickson, it's it's hard. Like
- 4:56Speaker 4: there's really they got nothing. They according to Devo, they
- 5:00Speaker 4: might be the worst defense in the history of football,
- 5:03Speaker 4: and that's not an exaggeration.
- 5:04Speaker 3: So why did they get rid of Amorano or whatever
- 5:07Speaker 3: his name is, lou Anarumo?
- 5:10Speaker 2: So I'm a rusting it was close.
- 5:13Speaker 4: So they were bad last year on defense, but they've
- 5:15Speaker 4: gone from bad to worst, right, So they were on
- 5:17Speaker 4: twenty seventh in Dvoa, I want to say, last year,
- 5:20Speaker 4: and now they're dead last this year. So he got
- 5:23Speaker 4: scapegoaded last year for attrition talent attrition that was already
- 5:28Speaker 4: starting on that roster. And then they hired Golden who's
- 5:32Speaker 4: from the college ranks and he's come from Notre Dame
- 5:34Speaker 4: to be their defensive coordinator now, and now their defense
- 5:37Speaker 4: is even worse and the close defense pretty good.
- 5:39Speaker 2: Yeah, with lou.
- 5:42Speaker 3: So good news for the Patriots. Trey Hendrickson isn't going
- 5:46Speaker 3: to be playing. He hasn't played in a few games,
- 5:49Speaker 3: but he's not going to be playing. So I mean,
- 5:53Speaker 3: if if the Bengals do score some points, there's a
- 5:57Speaker 3: possibility that even if it's a shootout, we could even
- 5:59Speaker 3: win that.
- 6:00Speaker 2: But no, I think that's what he do. You don't
- 6:01Speaker 2: want to happen. You just don't want to get into
- 6:03Speaker 2: a shootout with these guys. That's why, you know. To me,
- 6:05Speaker 2: it's it's about.
- 6:06Speaker 5: Stopping t Higgins now and Chase Brown and those elements.
- 6:10Speaker 5: But look, Joe Flacco has been around a while, and
- 6:12Speaker 5: if you make it easy on him, he's gonna he's
- 6:14Speaker 5: gonna carve me out.
- 6:15Speaker 3: I just got a feeling that, you know, like Paul
- 6:17Speaker 3: said yesterday, he is the kind of guy that later
- 6:19Speaker 3: in his career, he'd have these like stretches where oh,
- 6:22Speaker 3: he's the old Joe Flacco again, and then he falls off.
- 6:25Speaker 3: We might have seen first signs of that last week
- 6:29Speaker 3: and hopefully this week, because it's not like you can't
- 6:32Speaker 3: game plan against him because he can only hurt you
- 6:35Speaker 3: one way, and that's vertically really right and.
- 6:38Speaker 2: Well, and they don't run the ball either.
- 6:40Speaker 4: Yeah, so like traditionally, like with Chase Brown, so as
- 6:43Speaker 4: it's been the biggest kind of confusing part to me
- 6:47Speaker 4: about this Bengals team is that they actually have a
- 6:50Speaker 4: pretty good running back and Chase Brown, and their efficiency
- 6:53Speaker 4: numbers are pretty good running the ball. They just don't
- 6:55Speaker 4: run the ball. So they throw the ball almost seventy
- 6:58Speaker 4: percent of the time. It's number one in the league
- 7:00Speaker 4: in terms of pass rate number, you know, thirty second
- 7:03Speaker 4: in the league in terms of run rate. So they
- 7:05Speaker 4: don't really run the ball at all, which is surprising,
- 7:08Speaker 4: just because I think that with Flacco, you would think
- 7:11Speaker 4: they'd go under center more, they'd run the ball more.
- 7:14Speaker 4: They take a little bit off of them. His biggest
- 7:16Speaker 4: issues right now are just when he gets under pressure.
- 7:20Speaker 4: He's been one of the worst quarterbacks in the league
- 7:22Speaker 4: under pressure, probably because he can't get away from it.
- 7:25Speaker 2: But if you put.
- 7:26Speaker 4: Pressure on him, it has been ugly. Yeah, if he's
- 7:30Speaker 4: kept clean though, he's been a top ten passer in
- 7:32Speaker 4: the league with the with the Bengals, not with the Browns.
- 7:34Speaker 5: With the Bengals, and that's what sets it up interesting
- 7:36Speaker 5: to me. But Williams out how do they generate some
- 7:39Speaker 5: pass rush? Did a little bit of a dive earlier
- 7:42Speaker 5: today about just some of their pass rush stats. But
- 7:45Speaker 5: I think the hits are starting to pile up on
- 7:46Speaker 5: Joe Flacco. Last week he got really drilled. And you know,
- 7:50Speaker 5: anyone who's over forty knows it takes a while for
- 7:52Speaker 5: your body to heal, and you know, just one week
- 7:55Speaker 5: to get ready.
- 7:56Speaker 2: We'll see.
- 7:56Speaker 5: But I think it's like you said, Fred, I think
- 7:59Speaker 5: it's easy just when your hey drop back to Jamar,
- 8:01Speaker 5: Chase Thorth, to t Higgins, you know those that those
- 8:03Speaker 5: are great players, and you know some of the catches
- 8:05Speaker 5: that you've seen from t Higgins over this that's just been.
- 8:07Speaker 3: Like right, So, in the games that the Bengals have
- 8:12Speaker 3: been able to produce offensively, is it just because of
- 8:16Speaker 3: pure talent?
- 8:17Speaker 4: Kind of I've kind of thought that way for a
- 8:20Speaker 4: couple of years now. Honestly, you know, they they run
- 8:23Speaker 4: a lot of three receiver, they run a lot of shotgun,
- 8:26Speaker 4: they don't run a lot of motion, they don't put
- 8:28Speaker 4: the quarterback under center, they don't run the ball. So
- 8:30Speaker 4: like they they really get away with the fact that
- 8:33Speaker 4: they have that three headed monster Burrow, Chase Higgins, and
- 8:36Speaker 4: how two out of the three aren't there. And I
- 8:38Speaker 4: actually like Chase Brown's a good player, Like I'd probably
- 8:41Speaker 4: put him as like at least three and a half
- 8:43Speaker 4: if not four in that offense, and so they've have
- 8:47Speaker 4: a lot of talent. I've never been blown away by
- 8:50Speaker 4: Zach Taylor's scheme, Like I've never thought that they come
- 8:52Speaker 4: in and throw a lot atches schematically and confuse the
- 8:55Speaker 4: crap out of you. I don't think it's that kind
- 8:57Speaker 4: of offense. But t Higgins a really good player still
- 9:00Speaker 4: even without Jamar Chase and Yoshivahs is like sneaky, and
- 9:04Speaker 4: I think that he's the biggest thing with Yoshivas is
- 9:06Speaker 4: he's a big slot. So if you know they line
- 9:09Speaker 4: him up inside against Marcus Jones, that's going to be
- 9:11Speaker 4: a size mismatch in the favor of the Bengals. So
- 9:14Speaker 4: that's the one thing when I look at this matchup
- 9:16Speaker 4: from the Bengals offense perspective, is I think it is
- 9:19Speaker 4: important to shadow receivers in this game and make sure
- 9:23Speaker 4: that you keep Higgins in Yoshiva's away from Marcus.
- 9:26Speaker 3: Put Carlton Davis on on Yeshivas and and Gonzales on Higgins,
- 9:31Speaker 3: and you know, try try Man on Man and I mean,
- 9:35Speaker 3: and put the pressure on Flaco might.
- 9:36Speaker 2: I mean, I might flip it.
- 9:37Speaker 5: I mean, I think both those guys are capable of
- 9:39Speaker 5: covering those guys. But I just I think with the
- 9:42Speaker 5: type of player vertically, the t Higgins is double double
- 9:46Speaker 5: him with Davis double him necessarily. But Davis, you know,
- 9:48Speaker 5: has the size and you know, the downfield ability, whereas
- 9:51Speaker 5: Yoshivas is an athletic guy and having Gonzalez's athleticism, maybe
- 9:55Speaker 5: to match that.
- 9:56Speaker 2: A little bit but a.
- 9:57Speaker 3: Little bit more swivel Hills to play the slot a
- 10:00Speaker 3: little bit.
- 10:00Speaker 2: Loose hips and flip the hips and and but it's uh,
- 10:04Speaker 2: I mean, no Jamar Chase is just it changes everything.
- 10:06Speaker 3: So no Jamar Chase, no Hendrickson, no Burrow, but no
- 10:10Speaker 3: Milton Williams for the Patriots, what this is going to be. Well,
- 10:13Speaker 3: I mean they got through last game pretty much without him,
- 10:17Speaker 3: but what does it mean in this game without Milton Williams.
- 10:22Speaker 2: I mean pressure on Flacco.
- 10:23Speaker 5: That's you know, you want to get pressure on Flacco
- 10:25Speaker 5: and Milt Williams Christian Barmore are.
- 10:27Speaker 2: Right there one two.
- 10:28Speaker 5: You know something interesting though, I thought was Barmore I
- 10:31Speaker 5: think leads the league and pressures, but get the Patriots
- 10:33Speaker 5: are pretty average their eighteenth and four man pressure, so
- 10:37Speaker 5: you know, there's just some disconnects with the defense. But
- 10:39Speaker 5: good opportunity for them, I think to to you know,
- 10:41Speaker 5: maybe tee off a little bit, Maybe give Elijah Ponder
- 10:43Speaker 5: some some opportunities off the edge, see what he can do.
- 10:46Speaker 5: You'd love to get an edge or you know, get
- 10:48Speaker 5: a little bit of a lead and allow some of
- 10:50Speaker 5: those younger guys to play.
- 10:51Speaker 2: Maybe you can.
- 10:52Speaker 5: Protect Barmore a little bit because he's even more vital
- 10:55Speaker 5: now without Milton Williams in there.
- 10:57Speaker 2: And you know, one other thing on the other side
- 10:59Speaker 2: of the ball.
- 11:00Speaker 5: Tom Pellisara reporting that Stevenson might be back this week's
- 11:03Speaker 5: targeting with his toe injury. So okay, I think that
- 11:05Speaker 5: would be huge you know, I just I can't help
- 11:08Speaker 5: but look at the Bengals with Burrow and how set
- 11:10Speaker 5: up they were when they went to the Super Bowl
- 11:12Speaker 5: and felt like our windows open. And you know, now
- 11:15Speaker 5: Levin is talking about I mean, I don't even think
- 11:17Speaker 5: there's really an injury at running back. This is like
- 11:19Speaker 5: kind of how they want to do it and what
- 11:21Speaker 5: are they doing wrong? Because I feel like they are
- 11:23Speaker 5: a few years ahead of the Patriots in terms of
- 11:25Speaker 5: I know they're different teams, but having the quarterback and
- 11:27Speaker 5: feeling like, all right, we've got something going here. It
- 11:30Speaker 5: feels like they spent so much time trying to solidify
- 11:32Speaker 5: the offensive line that they kind of let the rest
- 11:35Speaker 5: of it go to crap.
- 11:36Speaker 3: Well that's the thing. You know, the Bengals have been
- 11:39Speaker 3: notoriously I don't want to say cheap, because you know,
- 11:43Speaker 3: you don't want to call any team that, but I don't.
- 11:45Speaker 3: I think that they're at a disadvantage because of their
- 11:47Speaker 3: market and their owner or the r owner doesn't have
- 11:50Speaker 3: deep pockets. He's not like an oil man like Jerry Jones.
- 11:54Speaker 3: And you know, I think that you kind of touched
- 11:58Speaker 3: on it right there. A lot of people never thought
- 12:00Speaker 3: they were going to be able to keep t Higgins,
- 12:02Speaker 3: let alone Jamar Chase, but they kept both of them. Yeah,
- 12:05Speaker 3: and did they do that to the detriment of the defense?
- 12:07Speaker 3: Where And I don't like, I'm not an expert on
- 12:10Speaker 3: their talent, but is is there other than Hendrickson? Are
- 12:13Speaker 3: they just really talent deficient on defense?
- 12:16Speaker 4: And they have been for a couple of years now.
- 12:18Speaker 4: Dj Turner is like a solid corner. He's having a
- 12:20Speaker 4: good year for them. But there's really nothing else to
- 12:24Speaker 4: the right home about. You know, just texting this week
- 12:26Speaker 4: with our buddy Trags who's now covering the Bengals in Cincinnati,
- 12:30Speaker 4: Like he was talking about their linebackers and how bad
- 12:32Speaker 4: their linebackers have been all year. So they just don't
- 12:35Speaker 4: have a ton of talent on defense. They've drafted high
- 12:38Speaker 4: on defense. You know, Jamar Stewart was a first round pick.
- 12:41Speaker 4: He's now on ir and he wasn't playing well before that.
- 12:44Speaker 4: He also had that weird holdout. Yeah, so they I
- 12:49Speaker 4: think the way that the Bengals have been built they
- 12:52Speaker 4: is a draft and developed team. And the drafting after
- 12:56Speaker 4: the Borough Chase Higgins, you know, home runs three in
- 13:00Speaker 4: a row there, their drafting has kind of fallen off.
- 13:03Speaker 4: And if you're not going to go out and spend
- 13:05Speaker 4: big in free agency like the Patriots did this past
- 13:08Speaker 4: offseason to you know, up the floor of the team again,
- 13:12Speaker 4: then it's going to be really hard. And so defensively,
- 13:14Speaker 4: they've just kind of fallen apart.
- 13:15Speaker 3: I mean, I had a relative that used to be
- 13:18Speaker 3: a coach at the Bengals and he said, you know,
- 13:20Speaker 3: this is years ago, but the end of the season,
- 13:22Speaker 3: they'd hand the coaches clipboards they go scout. Yeah, they
- 13:26Speaker 3: barely had a personnel. Now that's changed, but they, like
- 13:31Speaker 3: I said, they don't have the liquidity that a lot
- 13:34Speaker 3: of these other teams have.
- 13:35Speaker 4: But I think that they've drafted well outside of this pocket.
- 13:39Speaker 4: You know, this has been a rougher stretch for them,
- 13:43Speaker 4: but you know, you can't do much better than Burrow,
- 13:45Speaker 4: Higgins and Chase like that. Those three picks are home
- 13:48Speaker 4: runs and they just haven't really been able to build
- 13:52Speaker 4: on that. And I think most importantly, you know, D's
- 13:55Speaker 4: talking about the offensive line, like they haven't really fixed
- 13:58Speaker 4: the offensive line. Burrow's constantly hurt playing behind that offensive line. Yeah,
- 14:02Speaker 4: and you know that's that's a big part of it,
- 14:04Speaker 4: is the trenches and what they've been able to do
- 14:06Speaker 4: is I get.
- 14:07Speaker 3: That, but the kind of injuries that Burrows had, one
- 14:10Speaker 3: of them happened in preseason last year. The other turf
- 14:13Speaker 3: tow doesn't happen because of your line.
- 14:15Speaker 4: Really, I mean, but he's dropping back to pass a
- 14:17Speaker 4: million times, I know, and there's a lot on him,
- 14:20Speaker 4: and he's under siege, and it just I think it's
- 14:23Speaker 4: just adds up. Like I don't know if it's like, oh,
- 14:26Speaker 4: there is this Drew Bledsoe like hit where he got
- 14:28Speaker 4: cleaned out and and you know that sidelined him. But
- 14:31Speaker 4: over the course of this of a career, you know,
- 14:34Speaker 4: when you're behind a bad offensive line, it's what happened
- 14:37Speaker 4: to Andrew Luck right.
- 14:38Speaker 3: Like, and you just came he was, he got pounded.
- 14:41Speaker 4: You keep getting hit and hit and hit then eventually
- 14:44Speaker 4: catches up to you.
- 14:44Speaker 2: I wonder what they're going to do this offseason.
- 14:46Speaker 5: I mean, this is you know, Burrow might come back
- 14:48Speaker 5: at the end and maybe he gives them a little
- 14:49Speaker 5: bit of a spark. But I think the bigger picture,
- 14:52Speaker 5: you're looking at the Bengals team that doesn't really still
- 14:54Speaker 5: seem like they're going to be in the conversation of
- 14:57Speaker 5: the favorite.
- 14:58Speaker 3: I mean, we talked about it a couple of weeks
- 15:01Speaker 3: ago about what would it take to get Burrow out
- 15:03Speaker 3: of Cincinnati, and I said, you know, get him, you know,
- 15:06Speaker 3: get Joe Cool to New York. But they were talking
- 15:09Speaker 3: about it yesterday on the radio, like what would it
- 15:11Speaker 3: take to get him out? And where would he go?
- 15:13Speaker 3: Would he go to.
- 15:14Speaker 2: LA in terms of like trade compensation.
- 15:18Speaker 3: And would it ever? Could it ever happen? I mean,
- 15:20Speaker 3: you say, oh no, the Bengals would never do it,
- 15:22Speaker 3: But we've seen bigger trades happen, whether it's the NBA
- 15:25Speaker 3: or you know, all over the place. So in these days,
- 15:28Speaker 3: I wouldn't rule anything out.
- 15:29Speaker 2: I'd have to ask out. Yeah, yeah, well he's from Ohio.
- 15:34Speaker 6: And you're not.
- 15:36Speaker 4: They're not going to willingly trade him. But if he
- 15:38Speaker 4: asks out, he asks out.
- 15:39Speaker 2: And everybody knows what the Bengals are.
- 15:41Speaker 5: And to your point, Fred, it felt like they had
- 15:44Speaker 5: some rookie contract guys and then they kind of reached
- 15:46Speaker 5: critical mass. They had to pay a few guys and
- 15:48Speaker 5: now they're like, all right, well that's kind of it for.
- 15:50Speaker 2: A little while. They I mean, the running game is
- 15:52Speaker 2: is that to me?
- 15:53Speaker 5: When you've got you can't really pass block and you're
- 15:55Speaker 5: getting your quarterback killed, like really investing in the run
- 15:58Speaker 5: game and really trying to fix that and give having
- 16:00Speaker 5: him some support, you know, And I just I look
- 16:02Speaker 5: at now, I look at teams like this and say,
- 16:04Speaker 5: you know, what can the Patriots learn from how this
- 16:06Speaker 5: is unfolded for them?
- 16:07Speaker 2: Of course, any team that loses a guy like Joe Burrow, it's.
- 16:10Speaker 5: Going to be bad, but right now it just feels
- 16:12Speaker 5: like it's beyond bad. And when you look at worst
- 16:14Speaker 5: defense of all time, I mean they got they got
- 16:16Speaker 5: a lot of work to do.
- 16:17Speaker 4: Yeah, I think it's you know, you have to continuously
- 16:20Speaker 4: add like you can't just get complacent and say, oh, well,
- 16:24Speaker 4: we have this ten year window because we have this
- 16:26Speaker 4: franchise quarterback, and no matter what we do, we're just
- 16:29Speaker 4: always going to have a chance if we have Joe Burrow,
- 16:32Speaker 4: because things happen, He gets hurt, his playmakers get hurt,
- 16:35Speaker 4: like whatever, Like you know, things kind of fall apart,
- 16:38Speaker 4: and Burrow.
- 16:38Speaker 3: Doesn't strike me as the kind of person who's complacent,
- 16:42Speaker 3: Like I think he wants he wants a ring.
- 16:44Speaker 2: Right well, And that's what I mean.
- 16:45Speaker 5: I mean He's probably looking at this defense feeling like
- 16:47Speaker 5: Christ like I'm.
- 16:48Speaker 3: Years aa he was lobbying hard for Jamar Chase and
- 16:53Speaker 3: he hes right, you know, I.
- 16:55Speaker 5: Mean there's an element too of those three kis are awesome,
- 16:58Speaker 5: and so they're gonna get you to a certain level
- 17:00Speaker 5: of competence on offense, but protecting the quarterback, building the
- 17:04Speaker 5: team for the long haul.
- 17:05Speaker 2: For a playoff push, being able to you know, do
- 17:08Speaker 2: numerous things.
- 17:08Speaker 5: It's it's you know, I mean, yeah, they'll they'll win
- 17:11Speaker 5: some games chucking it up to chasing Higgins, but is
- 17:14Speaker 5: it going to be enough when they get against the
- 17:15Speaker 5: good teams down the stretch. I mean, I look back
- 17:18Speaker 5: at their defense, went to Jesse Bates was there so right,
- 17:20Speaker 5: he was one of their guys, Hendrickson and who was
- 17:22Speaker 5: the other the other bookend defensive end that they had
- 17:26Speaker 5: that was good for a while, Sam Hubbard, Yeah, he
- 17:29Speaker 5: you know, I think he retired, Logan Wilson got traded.
- 17:32Speaker 5: I mean they did have some pieces. It felt like
- 17:34Speaker 5: they had a moment where it was yeah, I mean.
- 17:37Speaker 4: Those drafts right like the twenty you know when it
- 17:40Speaker 4: Burrows think was twenty twenty, So like from my twenty
- 17:43Speaker 4: to twenty twenty two. I think they drafted Higgins a
- 17:46Speaker 4: year before they drafted Burrow, and they drafted Burrow and
- 17:48Speaker 4: then they drafted Chase. Yeah, and I think the one
- 17:51Speaker 4: day now that you could say about the Bengals and
- 17:53Speaker 4: not to do this whole thing again, but they're probably
- 17:56Speaker 4: gonna have a top ten pick in the draft next year.
- 17:58Speaker 2: Right, so, like why receiver?
- 18:00Speaker 4: You know they'll be a it's a great defense draft
- 18:03Speaker 4: this year. There's a lot of pass rush in this draft, Like,
- 18:06Speaker 4: so maybe they have a home run draft. They get
- 18:09Speaker 4: Burrow back healthy, and then all of a sudden, it's
- 18:12Speaker 4: you know, they're back in the mix. Because I do
- 18:14Speaker 4: think with Burrow is healthy, they're a contender in the
- 18:16Speaker 4: AFC until he's not.
- 18:17Speaker 3: Oh yeah, so if they.
- 18:20Speaker 4: Can hit on some talent on defense and get him back,
- 18:23Speaker 4: you know upright in twenty six and they're gonna be
- 18:26Speaker 4: in the mix.
- 18:26Speaker 2: I mean, I don't know how Demetrius Night's been to him.
- 18:28Speaker 2: I kind of liked him coming out second round linebacker pick.
- 18:31Speaker 2: Not great.
- 18:31Speaker 4: Yeah, him and Barrett Carter have really struggled. Barret Carter
- 18:34Speaker 4: in particular has rookies.
- 18:37Speaker 5: Yeah, it's if you if you swapped out the Patriots
- 18:39Speaker 5: linebackers with two rookies.
- 18:40Speaker 2: You probably see similar comment.
- 18:42Speaker 4: Yeah, and Logan Wilson was already losing time to those
- 18:44Speaker 4: guys and that's why he got traded. And then those
- 18:47Speaker 4: guys are not any better, but they're younger, so they're
- 18:49Speaker 4: trying to develop them so they're playing. Like I just
- 18:52Speaker 4: I think the other thing with the Bengals is like,
- 18:53Speaker 4: would why would you bring Burrow back? And I know
- 18:56Speaker 4: he wants to play, and I know he's a competitor
- 18:58Speaker 4: and all that kind of stuff, but like you're going
- 19:01Speaker 4: to bring him back at like three and eight or
- 19:03Speaker 4: three and nine to do what to win games?
- 19:06Speaker 2: That's going to hurt your draft pick.
- 19:08Speaker 3: Yeah, But and like it just I think it's good
- 19:10Speaker 3: for the culture.
- 19:12Speaker 2: I guess. I mean, I don't know.
- 19:13Speaker 3: I mean, your best player wants to play.
- 19:15Speaker 4: I think I think I think there's everybody knows that
- 19:20Speaker 4: he wants.
- 19:20Speaker 3: To But but and he's going to play like like
- 19:23Speaker 3: nothing's holding him back. I think that's that's good for
- 19:26Speaker 3: the culture. I if I was a fan, i'd like
- 19:28Speaker 3: to see.
- 19:29Speaker 5: If I was in the front office, I would totally
- 19:31Speaker 5: agree with Evan if like, you know, don't. But as
- 19:33Speaker 5: a coach and wanting to understand where this team's mentality is,
- 19:37Speaker 5: there is some value to me as a coach. Not
- 19:39Speaker 5: looking forward to the draft or playoffs or any of that,
- 19:41Speaker 5: but you know, getting a chance to see what's this
- 19:43Speaker 5: team look like when our guy is back under center.
- 19:46Speaker 2: If I was Duke Tobin and he comes back and
- 19:48Speaker 2: they win, Like, do.
- 19:49Speaker 3: They play any teams down the road that are factors
- 19:52Speaker 3: with us? Like, I mean they love him to play
- 19:54Speaker 3: spoiler for us.
- 19:55Speaker 2: I mean, they probably played Baltimore and Pittsburgh.
- 19:57Speaker 3: There you go, look real quick.
- 19:58Speaker 2: But I mean, I'm sure, so maybe maybe we should.
- 20:00Speaker 3: Be right exactly going to the Patriots side of the ball.
- 20:05Speaker 3: You mentioned Stevenson as a possibility. What about who?
- 20:08Speaker 2: Yeah, no word on who. We don't know.
- 20:10Speaker 4: Ye well yeah, Raybel wasn't asked about him. He sounded
- 20:13Speaker 4: optimistic about Booty and Stevenson. Yeah, or at least that
- 20:17Speaker 4: they're going to practice and and we'll see.
- 20:19Speaker 3: Because I'm just thinking, you know, you when as soon
- 20:22Speaker 3: as somebody says, oh, the linebackers aren't good, I think
- 20:25Speaker 3: tight ends, Yeah, tight ends over the middle.
- 20:27Speaker 4: Well, I would say the biggest thing is running backs
- 20:29Speaker 4: with them. They've had absolutely terrible time covering running backs.
- 20:32Speaker 4: Ganewell had a big game against them.
- 20:35Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 20:35Speaker 4: So you know, if Henderson can get loose a little
- 20:38Speaker 4: bit in this game, sure, Jack.
- 20:41Speaker 5: West, uhje, but it would be nicely walking from I'm
- 20:45Speaker 5: not going to pick on Jack West.
- 20:47Speaker 4: Yeah, Travon Henderson is the type of player that has
- 20:51Speaker 4: given them problems. You know, Gan Will had two touchdowns
- 20:54Speaker 4: last week and like eighty eighty receiving yards, so that
- 20:57Speaker 4: that backs out of the backfield have been a big
- 21:00Speaker 4: issue for them.
- 21:00Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 21:01Speaker 3: Josh McDaniels licking his chops this week.
- 21:03Speaker 2: I hope, So, I hope.
- 21:04Speaker 4: So this is the type of game that I feel
- 21:06Speaker 4: like is the most fun for him because like you
- 21:08Speaker 4: can just put this defense into a pretzel.
- 21:10Speaker 2: Right. They have a lot of young players playing.
- 21:13Speaker 4: You watch their film and there's coverage bus left and
- 21:15Speaker 4: right because they don't know how to handle things, like
- 21:17Speaker 4: you know, we're gonna motion here, We're going to release
- 21:20Speaker 4: out of a bunch there, We're gonna go three by
- 21:22Speaker 4: one and then we're gonna distribute it like this, and
- 21:24Speaker 4: like the Bengals are just like running all over the place.
- 21:27Speaker 5: Held always get a sense when some goods coming when
- 21:30Speaker 5: the defense is all looking at Yeah.
- 21:31Speaker 4: Yeah, you know the amount of times I almost like
- 21:34Speaker 4: screenshot the amount of times I saw palms up on
- 21:37Speaker 4: the film from the Bengals defense, being like I thought you.
- 21:39Speaker 2: Had them, you know, and real quick.
- 21:41Speaker 5: Fred, to your point, I mean, I think Patriot fans
- 21:43Speaker 5: should should want Burrough to come back and play well
- 21:45Speaker 5: because their remaining schedu will be at Ravens at Bill's
- 21:49Speaker 5: versus Ravens at Dolphins, to Cardinals and Browns.
- 21:52Speaker 3: But yeah, three of those games are huge for us.
- 21:56Speaker 5: They're gonna have some impact on the Let's go, Joe,
- 21:59Speaker 5: Let's go, come on, Joe.
- 22:01Speaker 4: It's also like you know, long game, like I would
- 22:03Speaker 4: not like the Bengals to have a great draft pick.
- 22:05Speaker 4: So you know, as a Patriots fan, it's it's double trouble. Like, right,
- 22:09Speaker 4: if I'm Duke Tobin and Joe Burrow comes back and
- 22:11Speaker 4: wins like three games at the end of the year,
- 22:13Speaker 4: now I'm picking eleventh instead of third, I'm gonna lose
- 22:16Speaker 4: my mind.
- 22:16Speaker 5: There's gonna be a lot of jockeying at that, like
- 22:18Speaker 5: top ten picks this year. I mean, Patriots have been
- 22:21Speaker 5: in that mix the last couple of years and we
- 22:23Speaker 5: play that game of like.
- 22:24Speaker 2: Where are they going to end up? What's it going
- 22:25Speaker 2: to look like?
- 22:26Speaker 5: But yeah, this year there's quite a few teams with one,
- 22:29Speaker 5: two wins, three wins that probably gonna be in that
- 22:31Speaker 5: mix for that those top picks.
- 22:33Speaker 3: All right, if five pass five hundred is the hotline
- 22:37Speaker 3: podcast at Patriots dot com is the email address again,
- 22:40Speaker 3: we'll have Mike Rable at about one ten today. Evan
- 22:44Speaker 3: will be going to the locker room. Dude will be
- 22:46Speaker 3: hanging around. Alex might be coming in a little later.
- 22:49Speaker 3: Paul is out for the day. He's got some things
- 22:51Speaker 3: to attend to. So we'll we'll just have to, you know,
- 22:55Speaker 3: carry on without him, carry on or carry car.
- 22:58Speaker 2: We'll just have to carry on, not carry on, carry on.
- 23:01Speaker 2: One last stat this was chupped out.
- 23:02Speaker 5: They given up six hundred and fifty rushing yards in
- 23:04Speaker 5: the last three years, and most of it was the
- 23:06Speaker 5: previous two.
- 23:06Speaker 2: Last week, I think they gave up one hundred and ten.
- 23:08Speaker 5: But like they can't tackle ramondra Stevenson coming back at
- 23:12Speaker 5: a good time to work him in, and you know,
- 23:14Speaker 5: I'm just excited to get him back. Now that Henderson
- 23:17Speaker 5: has some juice and just to see if they can
- 23:19Speaker 5: kind of figure out how do how do we manage
- 23:21Speaker 5: these two guys, how can it work?
- 23:23Speaker 2: Well, what's the rotation that's going to be best for
- 23:25Speaker 2: this team?
- 23:25Speaker 5: Because you know, I continue to believe that the Patriots
- 23:27Speaker 5: are really going to make a push here in December
- 23:30Speaker 5: into the playoffs. They need ramondros Stevenson and Henderson to
- 23:33Speaker 5: be playing well and to support drake Man.
- 23:35Speaker 3: And it would be nice to have a game where,
- 23:37Speaker 3: like the running game is consistent. Yeah you know, I'm
- 23:41Speaker 3: talking about explosives. I'm talking about over four yards to carry, yeah,
- 23:46Speaker 3: you know.
- 23:46Speaker 5: And that's what's like kind of it's a little frustrating
- 23:48Speaker 5: because you see, you know, people on social media will
- 23:50Speaker 5: post like, you know, Trayvon Henderson's average running averages up
- 23:53Speaker 5: to this now, and it's like, well.
- 23:54Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, he had two humongous runs.
- 23:57Speaker 5: Like can we really you know, can we all acknowledge
- 23:59Speaker 5: like averages and that stuff, Like, yes, he had.
- 24:01Speaker 2: Some explosive plays, but there's.
- 24:03Speaker 5: Still a lot to be desired from this running game
- 24:06Speaker 5: and you know, finding that consistency.
- 24:08Speaker 3: That being able to run when they know you want.
- 24:10Speaker 4: To run, Yeah, I thought doubt you know they did
- 24:12Speaker 4: that a little bit against the Jets, which was encouraging.
- 24:15Speaker 4: You know, the end of the game situation where they
- 24:17Speaker 4: ran the ball on third and three and goal line,
- 24:21Speaker 4: you know, things like that. But you know, I keep
- 24:23Speaker 4: going back with Henderson and Stevenson to Montgomery and Gibbs
- 24:26Speaker 4: in Detroit, Like that's the I don't know if that
- 24:29Speaker 4: they are that both that good, yeah, but like that's
- 24:32Speaker 4: the vision of like how to use both of them together.
- 24:35Speaker 4: Is that one is you know, you play about fifty
- 24:37Speaker 4: to fifty percent of the snaps and once kind of
- 24:40Speaker 4: year between the tackles guy and one's sort of your
- 24:42Speaker 4: home run hitter, and you mix and match it and
- 24:45Speaker 4: you go that direction, and you know, Detroit. I don't
- 24:48Speaker 4: think Detroit is at all disappointed that Montgomery plays a
- 24:51Speaker 4: little bit. Like he's a good player for them, and
- 24:54Speaker 4: I you know, Gibbs is awesome. And I think Gibbs
- 24:57Speaker 4: not having the whole workload on his shoulders helps give
- 25:00Speaker 4: in the long run because I think he's fresh more often.
- 25:02Speaker 2: That's where I always end up in all this you
- 25:04Speaker 2: know debate, is Henderson overtaking it? He's the number one.
- 25:07Speaker 5: I'm like, guys like you need two guys and that's
- 25:10Speaker 5: the ideal thing. It's you know, it's not in a
- 25:12Speaker 5: perfect world that Trayon Henderson is going to carry the
- 25:14Speaker 5: ball every single time for the rest of the season,
- 25:16Speaker 5: like he's great, But I think the offense as a
- 25:18Speaker 5: hole and both of those players will be better, including
- 25:20Speaker 5: Drake May if they find some balance and they what.
- 25:24Speaker 3: If you have some packages where both of them are
- 25:26Speaker 3: they feel the same time you have like split them
- 25:28Speaker 3: out a pony or whatever. Yeah, the pony, why not?
- 25:32Speaker 3: You know, you know, two tight ends sets, you have
- 25:35Speaker 3: two running back sets.
- 25:36Speaker 2: Let's go sets very much back pony sets down down.
- 25:42Speaker 5: I just I and part of me is and this
- 25:44Speaker 5: is probably the wishy washy fan of like Hope, but
- 25:47Speaker 5: like there's part of me that's like, man, is c J.
- 25:49Speaker 5: Dupre gonna come in and be like a real legit
- 25:51Speaker 5: blocking tight end to help maybe unlock some of this
- 25:54Speaker 5: running game. I mean that might just be. It might
- 25:56Speaker 5: be as simple as someone wanted to sign him and
- 25:58Speaker 5: they didn't, and they promoted him and they wanted to
- 25:59Speaker 5: keep which I do think is a sign that this
- 26:02Speaker 5: place wants to save guys that they That.
- 26:04Speaker 3: Reminds me about what's the deal with Swinson?
- 26:07Speaker 5: Yeah, that's the same That was the same thing. That
- 26:09Speaker 5: was what Mike re kind of intimated. I don't know
- 26:11Speaker 5: if there's ever a firm of h Yeah, it seems
- 26:12Speaker 5: like to sign him.
- 26:13Speaker 2: Both him and did Pre were in the same boat
- 26:15Speaker 2: that there was.
- 26:15Speaker 5: Somebody either had eva I mean, either one could have
- 26:18Speaker 5: been elevated, right they still Yeah, it.
- 26:20Speaker 4: Sounded like it was fifty three man roster poaching going
- 26:23Speaker 4: on that bullet both those guys. I I don't really
- 26:27Speaker 4: see a path for Swinson to get playing time because
- 26:29Speaker 4: you have Landry and Chase on aren't going anywhere. Those
- 26:32Speaker 4: guys are going to play Ponders already trying to like
- 26:34Speaker 4: knock on the door and they can't really find him
- 26:36Speaker 4: snaps very consistently. They already don't play, and Ferny Jennings,
- 26:41Speaker 4: they already don't really play Tavai on the edge. So
- 26:43Speaker 4: like Swinson's kind of like your sixth guy right now
- 26:46Speaker 4: at that position. Do Pre I think there's more of
- 26:48Speaker 4: a path, Yeah, because their tight ends have been in blocking.
- 26:51Speaker 4: It's been up and down for both Henry and Hooper.
- 26:54Speaker 4: Hooper's a little bit better, uh, you know, going into
- 26:58Speaker 4: draft season all that stuff, like getting like a really
- 27:02Speaker 4: good all around tight end to kind of replenish that position,
- 27:07Speaker 4: but also just somebody that is a little bit of
- 27:10Speaker 4: a better blocker as well. I mean that I think
- 27:14Speaker 4: I think Drake May likes throwing the tight ends, and
- 27:16Speaker 4: I think that the tight end is a huge, huge
- 27:18Speaker 4: part of how teams are drawing up schemes these days.
- 27:21Speaker 4: So I would love to see the Patriots do that.
- 27:23Speaker 5: I mean, those kind of thoughts going through my head
- 27:26Speaker 5: just watching some of the Bengals are playing all three
- 27:27Speaker 5: tight ends.
- 27:28Speaker 2: Yeah, they're playing a.
- 27:31Speaker 4: Team tight ends, but you know, guys like you know,
- 27:35Speaker 4: I know, obviously he's a hell of a player, but
- 27:37Speaker 4: somebody like Tyler Warren is like now becoming one of
- 27:40Speaker 4: the more valuable chess pieces because of how well he
- 27:42Speaker 4: blocks and how he can flex out and catch the
- 27:45Speaker 4: football too. And so everybody's going to tight end. They're
- 27:48Speaker 4: going big, uh, And if you have an inline tight
- 27:51Speaker 4: end that can block and catch passes from that spot,
- 27:55Speaker 4: it's a really really like it might even be equal
- 27:58Speaker 4: to like having like a great outside receiver.
- 28:01Speaker 3: At this point, the defense is, you know it, they're
- 28:04Speaker 3: so reactionary and cyclical in this league, you know, offense
- 28:09Speaker 3: makes an adjustment and then defense suggests you know, I'm
- 28:12Speaker 3: talking about league wide. Yeah, and right now, like you said,
- 28:16Speaker 3: you know, uh, teams are you know, starting to get
- 28:19Speaker 3: bigger on offense and trying to play a little bit
- 28:22Speaker 3: more bullyball, and defenses are having to adjust.
- 28:26Speaker 5: It was a good point of conversation on NFL Live
- 28:28Speaker 5: yesterday with Orlowsky. They were going through some of the
- 28:31Speaker 5: contenders and saying what might their flaw be, and Orlosky
- 28:34Speaker 5: is point out that the Patriots play a ton of nickel,
- 28:36Speaker 5: and his flawed for the Patriots was if a team
- 28:39Speaker 5: really commits to running the ball, And it goes back
- 28:41Speaker 5: to a little bit what Evan was saying, you know
- 28:43Speaker 5: yesterday that you know, that could be a flaw where
- 28:46Speaker 5: they're not they don't really have the heavy personne I
- 28:48Speaker 5: mean they're a huge nickel team.
- 28:49Speaker 2: That was part of the research.
- 28:50Speaker 5: I mean their third and amount of nickel twenty eighth
- 28:53Speaker 5: and base twenty first in dimes.
- 28:54Speaker 3: Okay, so the third and nickel, but what is the gap?
- 28:57Speaker 3: Because most teams play majority of nickel these days, don't they? Yes, yeah, yeah, I.
- 29:03Speaker 4: Think that Seattle plays like the most I said this
- 29:06Speaker 4: on cash point two. I like Dan. I think I
- 29:09Speaker 4: respect his opinion a lot. I think it's the total
- 29:11Speaker 4: opposite of what he said.
- 29:12Speaker 2: Yeah, because that's what I realized I was saying, because
- 29:14Speaker 2: you said on second time.
- 29:15Speaker 4: I would be so much more paranoid about a team
- 29:17Speaker 4: that's throwing the ball on first and second down to
- 29:19Speaker 4: the Patriots then running the ball. Right, If you want
- 29:21Speaker 4: to come in here in a playoff game in the
- 29:23Speaker 4: wildcard round and try to beat the Patriots running the football,
- 29:26Speaker 4: I say, be my guest, because what you're going to
- 29:28Speaker 4: do two things. You're running into a strength of their
- 29:30Speaker 4: defense one and two you're going to keep the score down.
- 29:33Speaker 2: Right, So like you're telling me that.
- 29:35Speaker 4: Drake Ma can win the playoff game scoring twenty four points,
- 29:37Speaker 4: Like I would take that all day, every day.
- 29:39Speaker 2: So it just but that's the league right now. The
- 29:42Speaker 2: league is a.
- 29:43Speaker 4: It's a game of chicken, Like can you stop the
- 29:47Speaker 4: run well enough out of Nickel that you don't need
- 29:49Speaker 4: to put an extra linebacker on the field. And if
- 29:52Speaker 4: you do put an extra linebacker on the field, can
- 29:54Speaker 4: we throw out of twelve against your linebackers?
- 29:58Speaker 2: Like that?
- 29:58Speaker 4: That's the chess match, right now that's happening. Which is
- 30:01Speaker 4: why it's making the tight end so valuable. Is because
- 30:04Speaker 4: if you get teams into base, well now they're going
- 30:07Speaker 4: to throw against base, but you still need to put
- 30:09Speaker 4: the twelve personnel on the field to get them to
- 30:11Speaker 4: put base on the field. So like if you don't,
- 30:14Speaker 4: if you can't run the ball against nickel and run
- 30:16Speaker 4: them out of nickel, then why would they put the
- 30:19Speaker 4: extra linebacker on the field. And to this point, at
- 30:23Speaker 4: least the Patriots, they're not a great nickel run defense,
- 30:27Speaker 4: but they're good enough that they don't need to overreact
- 30:30Speaker 4: to putting the linebacker on the field. And I think
- 30:32Speaker 4: that that's the whole thing. Like if you get them
- 30:35Speaker 4: to blink and then now you have Taviay, Gibbons and
- 30:39Speaker 4: Splaine all on the field because they can't stop the run,
- 30:42Speaker 4: well now they're going to throw against you.
- 30:45Speaker 3: Speaking of trends, Barton Poland writes in on May and
- 30:48Speaker 3: the lack of three hundred yard passing games. Passing numbers
- 30:51Speaker 3: are down across the entire league in recent years. It's
- 30:54Speaker 3: partly the way defenses play now, but also the kickoff
- 30:57Speaker 3: rule changes the average starting field position based jumped from
- 31:00Speaker 3: around the twenty to around the thirty in the last
- 31:03Speaker 3: ten to fifteen years. Naturally, it's much harder to reach
- 31:06Speaker 3: three hundred yards when offenses face consistent short fields. I
- 31:09Speaker 3: honestly don't even know if we'll have a forty five
- 31:12Speaker 3: hundred yard pass of this season in seventeen games, where
- 31:16Speaker 3: when there were seasons with sixteen games where multiple qbs
- 31:20Speaker 3: hit five thousand, and obviously we are often leading in
- 31:23Speaker 3: the fourth quarter, so we don't have to pass the ball.
- 31:25Speaker 3: So he's kind of justifying why Drake hasn't had any
- 31:29Speaker 3: three hundred yard passing games.
- 31:31Speaker 2: Played some good defenses too.
- 31:32Speaker 5: I mean, I think you look at the records of
- 31:33Speaker 5: the team they played, that's pretty bad, but the quality
- 31:36Speaker 5: of the defenses he played have not been terrible.
- 31:38Speaker 3: Well. He brings up a good point though, I mean,
- 31:40Speaker 3: the average starting drive it's about the thirty, about the thirty.
- 31:46Speaker 3: If that's like five more yards than it was before
- 31:49Speaker 3: the new kickoff rule, then do the math that's five
- 31:53Speaker 3: yards less, you know, eight nine yard you'll multiply that. Yeah, yeah, I.
- 31:58Speaker 2: Mean Drake's on pace.
- 31:59Speaker 4: He leased the league right now passing yards on pace
- 32:01Speaker 4: for about forty three hundred, so it's not to Bart's point,
- 32:04Speaker 4: it's not. You know, you're not going to see a
- 32:06Speaker 4: five thousand yard passer in the league. But I think
- 32:09Speaker 4: the kickoff thing, not to get on a whole tangent
- 32:11Speaker 4: about the kickoff thing, I think this is a problem
- 32:14Speaker 4: that the field is shortened because the offenses are too good.
- 32:19Speaker 3: So like now you know they have to go like
- 32:21Speaker 3: twenty five yards and you're in field goal.
- 32:23Speaker 4: Right, because it's not only are the offenses better, but
- 32:25Speaker 4: the kickers are a lot better too. So like if
- 32:27Speaker 4: you're the Cowboys, you could start in field goal range
- 32:30Speaker 4: for Brandon Aubrey on a lot of these drives because
- 32:33Speaker 4: you're starting at like you're thirty five, you know, and
- 32:36Speaker 4: like you so, what do they need fifteen yards to
- 32:38Speaker 4: put Aubrey in field goal range? Especially inside? So I
- 32:42Speaker 4: think that as much as I liked at the kickoffs
- 32:44Speaker 4: are back in the game and they're getting these returns,
- 32:47Speaker 4: it is a little bit problematic in terms of like
- 32:50Speaker 4: there's a lot easier to go on a scoring drive,
- 32:53Speaker 4: not necessarily a touchdown drive, but just to get into
- 32:55Speaker 4: field goal range at the end of the game or
- 32:58Speaker 4: in a two minute scenario, you need like two first
- 33:00Speaker 4: downs to be in field goal range, like the game
- 33:03Speaker 4: winning drive that Drake mayled in Buffalo. I think he
- 33:05Speaker 4: had two. There was two first downs, and it's like
- 33:08Speaker 4: it should be harder than that, right, Like it should
- 33:10Speaker 4: be a little bit harder.
- 33:12Speaker 3: Let's see what Michael in Texas has to say on
- 33:16Speaker 3: the hotline. What's up, Michael, Hey, thanks.
- 33:20Speaker 7: For taking my call. It So, I've got a bit
- 33:23Speaker 7: of a concern with the offensive play, and I'm really
- 33:26Speaker 7: just curious if it justified concern or if it's just pessimism.
- 33:32Speaker 7: I did hear it brought up once before by Christian
- 33:35Speaker 7: in La, but maybe his insufferable nature led to more
- 33:40Speaker 7: animated responses from everybody and it was more of a
- 33:43Speaker 7: response to Christian himself than a concern. But it does
- 33:48Speaker 7: feel like throughout the game, the other team's scoring, then
- 33:52Speaker 7: they come in hot, they stay hot, and then I
- 33:54Speaker 7: don't want to say that they let off the gas,
- 33:58Speaker 7: but maybe it is more of Maybe it was Evan
- 34:01Speaker 7: who coined it as them being cute and that lending
- 34:05Speaker 7: itself to them not just closing out a game, you know,
- 34:08Speaker 7: for example, the Jets game. I feel like that game
- 34:11Speaker 7: should have been closed out before it hit halftime, but
- 34:14Speaker 7: it wasn't because something was happening. Maybe they were getting cute.
- 34:18Speaker 7: Things just weren't clicking right.
- 34:19Speaker 8: But do you guys feel that that's justified at all,
- 34:22Speaker 8: that they are getting hot at a point and then
- 34:24Speaker 8: throughout the game they're starting to kind of teeter off
- 34:27Speaker 8: and letting the other game come in or is it
- 34:29Speaker 8: more pessimism.
- 34:32Speaker 3: Thanks Mike.
- 34:33Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, I think there's a lot going on.
- 34:36Speaker 5: I think part of it is you've had one running
- 34:37Speaker 5: back really the last few weeks that you you know,
- 34:39Speaker 5: it's kind of all on Drake, and it's also a
- 34:41Speaker 5: young team.
- 34:42Speaker 2: Like I just I think there's going to be some incase.
- 34:45Speaker 3: But I think there were a few games where they
- 34:46Speaker 3: did take their foot off the gas. But I mean,
- 34:50Speaker 3: teams have adjusted in the second half, and that's been
- 34:53Speaker 3: a kind of a mile concern.
- 34:55Speaker 4: There's anecdotally, there's evidence of that. You know, the Atlanta game,
- 34:59Speaker 4: they'd score three points after halftime. Now they lost Kishan
- 35:02Speaker 4: Booty at halftime basically, and then they were down Stevenson
- 35:06Speaker 4: and Booty the rest of the way and that was
- 35:08Speaker 4: in game. Like it's one thing to practice all week
- 35:10Speaker 4: like that, it's another thing to lose your starting X
- 35:13Speaker 4: receiver in game and then have to recover from that
- 35:16Speaker 4: against a good defense in Atlanta. I just and maybe
- 35:19Speaker 4: this is just optimism to his pestimism, Like if they
- 35:23Speaker 4: have to keep scoring, I have confidence that they're going
- 35:25Speaker 4: to find a way to keep scoring. And like I
- 35:27Speaker 4: don't know if they have to keep scoring against the Jets,
- 35:30Speaker 4: Like I know we would all love to see them
- 35:31Speaker 4: blow doors on the against the Jets and score fifty.
- 35:34Speaker 4: I get that, but like they didn't really need to,
- 35:37Speaker 4: so like when they when if they have to, if
- 35:40Speaker 4: they get pushed and they have to score into the
- 35:43Speaker 4: thirties to win a game, like I still think that
- 35:46Speaker 4: they could do it.
- 35:46Speaker 3: Yeah, I it'd be interesting to see it, because what
- 35:50Speaker 3: we are seeing this year is like on these third
- 35:52Speaker 3: and gotta have it plays. This is a different team
- 35:55Speaker 3: than we've the one we've seen the last three years,
- 35:57Speaker 3: or like they're making deals plays those they're making those
- 36:00Speaker 3: big plays. So if pushed, if they had to rev
- 36:04Speaker 3: it up in the third and fourth quarter, yeah, you know,
- 36:07Speaker 3: could they do it. I think they've got what it
- 36:09Speaker 3: takes to do it.
- 36:10Speaker 2: Yeah, that's what I mean.
- 36:11Speaker 5: That's what I'm watching for down the stretch and into
- 36:13Speaker 5: the playoffs. Is you know, Drake may and got to
- 36:16Speaker 5: have it back and forth late in the game. You know,
- 36:19Speaker 5: need a drive those You know, we've had a few
- 36:21Speaker 5: of those moments this year, but but not a lot really.
- 36:23Speaker 5: I mean, it's been kind of like the Patriots have
- 36:25Speaker 5: been a couple of steps ahead and they've been able
- 36:27Speaker 5: to stay a couple of steps ahead, but they haven't
- 36:29Speaker 5: had that.
- 36:30Speaker 2: Right you're down in the fourth quarter, here we go.
- 36:32Speaker 5: I mean, then it goes back to what I said
- 36:34Speaker 5: going into the season, like, is Drake clutch? That's you know,
- 36:36Speaker 5: I mean for all the MVP and everything. I mean,
- 36:38Speaker 5: he's had some clutch moments. But you know, we'll see.
- 36:41Speaker 5: I think they're really gonna have to get the best
- 36:43Speaker 5: out of him against these best teams down the stretch.
- 36:45Speaker 3: Nick writes in from Ohio, and by the way, if
- 36:47Speaker 3: you need dry wall in Ohio, Fayette Drywall one of
- 36:51Speaker 3: the area's longest lasting contractor since nineteen eighty four, celebrating
- 36:54Speaker 3: forty years. I can say that because they're not a
- 36:56Speaker 3: competitor in Ohio. Just give Nick a little shout out. Uh,
- 37:00Speaker 3: he says, I'm sure this has been mentioned, but I'm
- 37:02Speaker 3: also an Ohio native, and I'd say leadership is the
- 37:05Speaker 3: biggest issue in the Bengals room. Not to say they
- 37:08Speaker 3: can't remember the Titans themselves and pull it all together,
- 37:11Speaker 3: but they have something similar happen as what happened with
- 37:15Speaker 3: Diggs in the sake of the humility we have seen
- 37:17Speaker 3: come into our team from a fan perspective, not saying
- 37:21Speaker 3: someone needs to get injured. I don't even know what
- 37:24Speaker 3: he's talking about. Don't use this drywall the emails, like
- 37:27Speaker 3: the dry I thought he was. I thought he was
- 37:30Speaker 3: going somewhere, but he kind.
- 37:31Speaker 2: Of lost I see what he's saying.
- 37:32Speaker 5: I thought he was a culture problem and they don't
- 37:34Speaker 5: really have leadership, and without I thought.
- 37:37Speaker 3: It was a good leader.
- 37:38Speaker 4: I wouldn't say that like I thought he was going
- 37:40Speaker 4: front office because I know that right now the Duke
- 37:43Speaker 4: Tobin in their front office is taking a lot of
- 37:45Speaker 4: heat in Cincinnati for you know, the attrition of the roster.
- 37:49Speaker 4: I thought that when he said leadership that he meant
- 37:51Speaker 4: like organizational leadership, you know, like GM president level leadership.
- 37:57Speaker 4: I don't know what he's talking about with the roster,
- 37:59Speaker 4: Like I guess Chase spit on a guy so like
- 38:01Speaker 4: that's not great, but like, right, you know, in general, Kay,
- 38:04Speaker 4: Like I don't know, Yeah, Teddy Kay is like the
- 38:06Speaker 4: vice president of the Players Association, So I think that
- 38:09Speaker 4: he's a I've got a pretty good head on his shoulders.
- 38:11Speaker 4: But I think that they're GM. They have a president
- 38:16Speaker 4: and then they have ownership, and the president she's like
- 38:19Speaker 4: under fire a lot too about the roster and just
- 38:22Speaker 4: like about the state of the team.
- 38:23Speaker 2: Yeah, you just.
- 38:24Speaker 5: Hope that they're not just saying, well, we got Earl,
- 38:28Speaker 5: Chase and Higgins like nothing else matters, you know. I mean,
- 38:30Speaker 5: I think that's what that team looks like to me,
- 38:33Speaker 5: and as soon as you pull one or two of
- 38:34Speaker 5: those pieces out, it's pretty dreadful.
- 38:36Speaker 3: Jake and fort Rucker, Alabama. This is on the playoffs.
- 38:41Speaker 3: I was listening to yesterday's show just a bit ago,
- 38:43Speaker 3: and I was thinking on Paul's confidence in the Chiefs
- 38:46Speaker 3: making the playoffs. Originally I agreed, However, upon further review,
- 38:50Speaker 3: I'm not so sure. At five and five, the Chiefs
- 38:52Speaker 3: will still have to play the Colts, Cowboys, Charges, and
- 38:55Speaker 3: Broncos again. While I wouldn't be shocked if the Chiefs
- 38:58Speaker 3: won all four of those games. I think they absolutely
- 39:01Speaker 3: must win at least two, possibly three, and that's just
- 39:04Speaker 3: no guarantee this year. I think the Bills are a
- 39:07Speaker 3: near lock. The remaining teams that charges Jags, Ravens, and Chiefs.
- 39:11Speaker 3: I think that of those teams, the Jags getting knocked
- 39:14Speaker 3: out makes sense, But my guess is only one of
- 39:17Speaker 3: the Ravens or Chiefs will make it. And think the
- 39:19Speaker 3: Ravens are more likely.
- 39:21Speaker 2: So I think the Ravens. The Ravens might win the division.
- 39:24Speaker 4: So I think that could like send like a whole
- 39:27Speaker 4: kind of ripple effect into this as if the Ravens
- 39:30Speaker 4: come back and actually win the North and now the
- 39:32Speaker 4: Steelers become a wild card team.
- 39:34Speaker 2: And Mason Rudolph, Yeah, like that all kind.
- 39:36Speaker 4: Of gets cluttered, you know. With Kansas City. Yeah, I mean,
- 39:41Speaker 4: I think most of the metrics right now would say
- 39:43Speaker 4: that they're probably gonna miss the playoffs. But it's Patrick Mahomes,
- 39:48Speaker 4: Andy Reid so great.
- 39:49Speaker 2: It's just a great challenge.
- 39:50Speaker 5: I mean that the Colts are what they are this season,
- 39:52Speaker 5: They're really earned a lot of the respect of around
- 39:55Speaker 5: the league that you know that they deserve, and now
- 39:57Speaker 5: to have to go into Kansas City where you feel
- 39:59Speaker 5: like you've got a dea sprit Kansas City team playing
- 40:01Speaker 5: at home against the team that's kind of a dome team.
- 40:04Speaker 2: I just it's gonna be interesting to see what the
- 40:06Speaker 2: result is.
- 40:07Speaker 5: Is this an indie team that can travel and knock
- 40:10Speaker 5: off a team that, like everybody feels the same way.
- 40:13Speaker 5: They're like Jason boordees, like you got to kill him
- 40:15Speaker 5: till he's dead, and then you got to kill him again.
- 40:17Speaker 5: That's how it's got to be, is Daniel Jones and
- 40:20Speaker 5: you know that running game. Ready to go in there
- 40:21Speaker 5: to arrowhead and do it.
- 40:23Speaker 3: Jordan and Tampa writes in follow up question on yesterday's
- 40:27Speaker 3: discussion on worst playoff opponents. My opinion, the worst opponent
- 40:30Speaker 3: to face in the playoffs would be Buffalo. We've already
- 40:33Speaker 3: beat them in Buffalo. I have confidence that, given the
- 40:36Speaker 3: state of their team, will beat them at home as well.
- 40:39Speaker 3: But I've heard it said many times that's so hard
- 40:41Speaker 3: to beat a team three times in one year when
- 40:43Speaker 3: they are so familiar with each other. I would be
- 40:46Speaker 3: afraid that we beat them twice in the regular season,
- 40:49Speaker 3: but they learn from the losses and get us in
- 40:51Speaker 3: the playoffs.
- 40:52Speaker 4: So I agree with his premise. But if we assume
- 40:56Speaker 4: that the Patriots win the East and the Bills are
- 40:59Speaker 4: a wildcard, the Bills are going to be the five
- 41:01Speaker 4: seed most definitely. And so like we're talking about the
- 41:07Speaker 4: AFC Championship game, and like, if that's if that's what
- 41:10Speaker 4: it is like, you're going to play a great team
- 41:12Speaker 4: at that point, and it is what it is like,
- 41:15Speaker 4: you take your chances and see what happens. It'd be
- 41:18Speaker 4: very unlikely that they would draw the Bills in the
- 41:21Speaker 4: divisional or the wildcard round, just because the Bills are
- 41:25Speaker 4: probably going to be the top wildcard team.
- 41:27Speaker 5: I if they get to buy, the Patriots get to buy,
- 41:29Speaker 5: and they're one game away from the AFC Championship.
- 41:31Speaker 2: Like I don't know I've told you guys, but like
- 41:32Speaker 2: my dream is to go to an AFC championship game.
- 41:34Speaker 5: I have never been to one. Like that to me
- 41:36Speaker 5: is you've never been to one? No, no, no, not
- 41:37Speaker 5: even a Super Bowl either. I know it's crazy, I know,
- 41:41Speaker 5: but I just think that's the ultimate football game. It's
- 41:43Speaker 5: a home crowd, it's a real football game. Super Bowl
- 41:45Speaker 5: is like an exhibition. I mean, you guys know more
- 41:47Speaker 5: than me. You've been to Super Bowl, at least on TV,
- 41:49Speaker 5: it feels like.
- 41:50Speaker 3: The weekends and sports. The Championship. You get those two home.
- 41:55Speaker 5: Games and the home crowd is into it and probably
- 41:58Speaker 5: a little bit of a weather game depending on where is.
- 42:00Speaker 5: But I just to me, the chance to see this
- 42:03Speaker 5: team playing in an AFC Championship, that would be you know,
- 42:05Speaker 5: deuce on cloud not. I would like to me just
- 42:07Speaker 5: whatever happens happens, but I would be really happy.
- 42:10Speaker 4: I agree with the email in terms of it. It would
- 42:12Speaker 4: be hard to beat Buffalo again. Yeah, me too, but
- 42:14Speaker 4: I don't know when they would really see Buffalo like
- 42:18Speaker 4: the way that it goes. But the two thousand AFC
- 42:21Speaker 4: Championship Game twenty eight teen in Kansas City is the
- 42:24Speaker 4: best football game I've ever been to, and I don't
- 42:26Speaker 4: think it's going to be topped like Mahomes and Brady
- 42:29Speaker 4: in overtime of the AFC Championship Game. To go to
- 42:31Speaker 4: the Super Bowl is also in that atmosphere or two
- 42:35Speaker 4: like that fan base is awesome game. I don't know
- 42:39Speaker 4: if that will ever be that post game my first
- 42:42Speaker 4: year on the Beat and came out and that was
- 42:44Speaker 4: my first year was covering that team.
- 42:47Speaker 5: So there's also that my closest is the the AFC
- 42:50Speaker 5: Divisional against San Diego in two.
- 42:51Speaker 2: Thousand and six.
- 42:52Speaker 5: But there's nothing quite like the experience of going into
- 42:55Speaker 5: a hostile stadium in the playoffs a team that has
- 42:57Speaker 5: Super Bowl aspirations and ending their season in their home.
- 43:00Speaker 5: I mean that that feeling, and I mean the Patriots
- 43:03Speaker 5: had it happened a couple of times here to them,
- 43:04Speaker 5: but that was pretty cool.
- 43:06Speaker 2: I mean the celebration after that San Diego game, all
- 43:08Speaker 2: the Patriots fans all came down. Everybody was just so excited.
- 43:11Speaker 5: I'm sure it was the same thing there at Sports City.
- 43:15Speaker 4: No, because there weren't, like Kansas City was not letting
- 43:18Speaker 4: any Patriots fans in the building. You know, you they
- 43:21Speaker 4: have like this like sea of red, and like when
- 43:24Speaker 4: you look out from the press box over the parking lot,
- 43:27Speaker 4: it's like a college atmosphere where like it's just a
- 43:29Speaker 4: whole parking lot's tailgaters and like that that was literally
- 43:33Speaker 4: going That was rocky for Like, that was literally going
- 43:36Speaker 4: into the most hostile environment that you could possibly go into.
- 43:40Speaker 4: And you know, Brady winning that game was one of
- 43:43Speaker 4: his best.
- 43:44Speaker 3: Yeah, he was, I mean, helmet off and it was
- 43:47Speaker 3: bitter cold too. Yeah, helmet off, jumping in people's arms
- 43:50Speaker 3: and the mccordy twins hugging each other, you know, in
- 43:55Speaker 3: Devin telling Jason, this is why you came to do this,
- 43:58Speaker 3: David Andrews way, goodbye to the crowd.
- 44:03Speaker 2: Brady masterclass. Yeah, good'd down.
- 44:07Speaker 3: I mean so many plays, talk about got to have
- 44:09Speaker 3: it plays and then you know, thank you Kansas City
- 44:12Speaker 3: for jumping off sides.
- 44:13Speaker 5: That's probably the stress for a video. Like the greatest
- 44:16Speaker 5: third downs of the Dynasty. Just third downs. I mean
- 44:20Speaker 5: that Edelman probably have four or five of them.
- 44:22Speaker 4: They just kept they kept on playing middle of the field,
- 44:25Speaker 4: They kept on playing two high safeties, and Edelman just
- 44:27Speaker 4: kept running crossers right into the middle of the field
- 44:30Speaker 4: and they just didn't cover them. And then the one
- 44:31Speaker 4: time that they did, they threw the backside slant to
- 44:34Speaker 4: Gronk and they're like they just had all the answers,
- 44:36Speaker 4: like third down. They just completely out fox the Chiefs
- 44:39Speaker 4: in that game.
- 44:40Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 44:40Speaker 5: I love hearing what Brady said about that game too,
- 44:42Speaker 5: just saying I knew what they were going to do
- 44:43Speaker 5: before they did it, like I studied them so much,
- 44:45Speaker 5: Like I just I knew exactly what they were doing everything, yep.
- 44:48Speaker 2: And they got spags and then they won three Super Bowls.
- 44:51Speaker 3: Willem and philam, what's up? William's? All right?
- 44:57Speaker 5: All right?
- 44:59Speaker 2: Were you doing?
- 45:00Speaker 9: All right? Just two questions? So I know about the
- 45:06Speaker 9: robbery jerseys, which those those new ones which it looks
- 45:10Speaker 9: they look so sick. Anyway, do you see the picture
- 45:14Speaker 9: is getting some new like a new home jersey for
- 45:17Speaker 9: next season, you know, something something different, I mean from
- 45:21Speaker 9: the blue ones that they have already. And also what
- 45:24Speaker 9: you having with the draft coming up? Basically, what do
- 45:29Speaker 9: you think the pictures would do with the first round pick?
- 45:32Speaker 9: You know what? You think they should charge it down
- 45:33Speaker 9: and Ye'll have a good day, Okay.
- 45:35Speaker 10: All right?
- 45:35Speaker 3: Well two questions there. One is new uniform in the works,
- 45:39Speaker 3: and what would they do with the pick that they'll have,
- 45:43Speaker 3: probably hopefully low.
- 45:44Speaker 4: In the thirty two? I think is where the super
- 45:47Speaker 4: Bowl champ? There you go, ed Rusher?
- 45:50Speaker 2: Yeah, I think that that will be at the top
- 45:52Speaker 2: of the list.
- 45:53Speaker 3: You know, I think they I think best player available
- 45:56Speaker 3: that's not a quarterback.
- 45:56Speaker 4: They're gonna need some things to fill in, you know,
- 46:00Speaker 4: depth wise and other spots. But I think the cool
- 46:02Speaker 4: part about this draft, to Fred's point, is like you
- 46:05Speaker 4: kind of already have the foundation, so now you're kind
- 46:08Speaker 4: of just adding like on top of it. This is
- 46:10Speaker 4: where we used to be, right, and so now you
- 46:12Speaker 4: can really you know, the Lions had that draft where
- 46:15Speaker 4: they go Gibbs Campbell, Brian branch Laporta, and after the
- 46:19Speaker 4: draft everybody made fun of them because they picked non
- 46:22Speaker 4: premium positions with all their picks, but they picked the
- 46:25Speaker 4: best players available and it ended up all of them
- 46:27Speaker 4: ended up being good. So I think there's an element
- 46:30Speaker 4: to that that you can kind of just whatever falls
- 46:33Speaker 4: to you and you pick that guy.
- 46:34Speaker 2: That's what I'm excited about next year. And not to
- 46:37Speaker 2: get ahead of ourselves, but like this.
- 46:39Speaker 5: Isn't the team yet, you know, and everybody's pretty much
- 46:41Speaker 5: coming back. There are honeywise either Yeah, I mean there's
- 46:44Speaker 5: you know, there are some holes to film and you
- 46:45Speaker 5: got to figure out you know, it's Chason going to
- 46:47Speaker 5: come come back, Tonga, you know, Jalen Hawkins starting safety.
- 46:50Speaker 5: So I mean there could be some starting holes, but
- 46:53Speaker 5: generally you're bringing back just about everybody in the core
- 46:55Speaker 5: and you just can build from there and you don't
- 46:57Speaker 5: have to be totally, you know, held to the needs.
- 47:01Speaker 5: And when you're held to those needs, like you end
- 47:02Speaker 5: up reaching on guys that maybe you shouldn't where it's
- 47:05Speaker 5: like to your point, Fred, it's like, yeah, we kind
- 47:07Speaker 5: of need this position, but we know that this guy
- 47:09Speaker 5: is going to be a superstar.
- 47:10Speaker 2: And it's not a top the list, but let's just
- 47:13Speaker 2: take this.
- 47:13Speaker 4: Yeah, I just put out a edge rusher because it's
- 47:15Speaker 4: a good it's a good class. There's gonna be like
- 47:17Speaker 4: five or six of them that go early, and you know,
- 47:19Speaker 4: people are really high on the.
- 47:21Speaker 2: Class place and start.
- 47:22Speaker 3: It looks like they'll have cash to spend too, so
- 47:25Speaker 3: it doesn't all have to come from the draft. If
- 47:27Speaker 3: you know you can get an immediate impact guy on
- 47:29Speaker 3: a rusher, do it that way.
- 47:30Speaker 4: Yeah, And I think that that's probably what will happen,
- 47:36Speaker 4: is like you won't have the spending spree like they
- 47:38Speaker 4: did this last offseason, but you might have like one splash,
- 47:41Speaker 4: you know, whether it's a free agent or a trade
- 47:43Speaker 4: or something like that where they go out and try
- 47:45Speaker 4: to add again, like just that extra piece to put
- 47:48Speaker 4: you over the top, whether it's you know, another receiver
- 47:51Speaker 4: or it's an edge rusher or whatever. The case may be,
- 47:53Speaker 4: but they're gonna need you know, pass rush, They're gonna
- 47:56Speaker 4: need you know, offensive line still, you know, right tackle Morgan.
- 48:00Speaker 4: This is not a spring chicken.
- 48:02Speaker 2: You know.
- 48:02Speaker 4: How do they sort out the interior with Wilson and
- 48:05Speaker 4: brad Bury? Bradbury, do you bring him back?
- 48:08Speaker 2: You know?
- 48:08Speaker 4: Do you kick Wilson to center? Then you need a
- 48:10Speaker 4: left guard. What's on win?
- 48:11Speaker 2: Who's future? Yep, So there's still.
- 48:13Speaker 3: There's going to be a really really interesting off season.
- 48:17Speaker 2: Tight end Seana Vancouver.
- 48:19Speaker 3: I predict that Drake May will have his first NFL
- 48:21Speaker 3: game with over three hundred yards passing. That's not based
- 48:24Speaker 3: in my gut or a feeling. It's more this trend
- 48:27Speaker 3: of thought. Drake may leaves the NFL in passing yards.
- 48:29Speaker 3: The Bengals, how the worst defense in the history of
- 48:31Speaker 3: the NFL. When push comes to shove, it's a big
- 48:33Speaker 3: game for the Patriots.
- 48:34Speaker 2: Offense, it should line up that way.
- 48:38Speaker 3: They could also have two hundred yards rushing.
- 48:40Speaker 5: That to me would be what would prevent Drake from
- 48:43Speaker 5: doing it is that they get the lead and then
- 48:45Speaker 5: it's reminder Stevenson, Trevion Henderson time to just do what
- 48:47Speaker 5: they've kind of done, you know, bleed the clock out
- 48:49Speaker 5: and you know, get out of Dodge with a win,
- 48:52Speaker 5: you get into December November.
- 48:53Speaker 2: I think those things are you know, you gotta protect
- 48:55Speaker 2: yourselves a little bit.
- 48:57Speaker 4: Yeah, I think there's there's a piece of me that
- 48:59Speaker 4: things the Patriots could you know, really blow doors in
- 49:02Speaker 4: Cincinnati because of the state of the Bengals, Like Chase
- 49:06Speaker 4: is suspended, He's beIN on a guy that's not great,
- 49:09Speaker 4: like just in general for the whole vibe, right, Joe
- 49:12Speaker 4: Burrow's not playing, Trey Hendrickson's not playing. But at the
- 49:16Speaker 4: same time, like it's been a little bit of a
- 49:18Speaker 4: grind here for the Patriots and they still don't know
- 49:20Speaker 4: there's still two weeks away from their bye. I do
- 49:24Speaker 4: think that there's an element of, you know, are they
- 49:27Speaker 4: fully operational right now to really like blow a team out?
- 49:32Speaker 4: You know, it might be one of those like ho hum.
- 49:34Speaker 2: I think it's a great observation, Evan.
- 49:36Speaker 5: It's what like kind of concerns me small seat concern
- 49:39Speaker 5: of just you know, managing getting to the buy and
- 49:41Speaker 5: then and look, we're all kind of scarred from how
- 49:44Speaker 5: things went downhill after the bye going back. I mean
- 49:46Speaker 5: a significant amount of years. But what is the team
- 49:50Speaker 5: like post by with Rabel, What does that look like?
- 49:52Speaker 5: Do they come out and really look like they're starting
- 49:54Speaker 5: to peek because I don't. I don't really think this
- 49:56Speaker 5: team is is peak yet. I don't think we've seen
- 49:58Speaker 5: their best with Drake and Ramandre and Keisham Bouti and
- 50:03Speaker 5: Austin Hooper and all those different pieces.
- 50:04Speaker 2: So I still see where they can get to.
- 50:07Speaker 5: But I just I really wonder how they're going to
- 50:09Speaker 5: manage these next few weeks with another primetime night game,
- 50:11Speaker 5: a bye week, and then some really tough matchups right
- 50:14Speaker 5: out of the buy.
- 50:15Speaker 2: Well that's the thing, is like you you have Buffalo
- 50:17Speaker 2: Baltimore back to back right out of the by, be
- 50:19Speaker 2: ready to go?
- 50:20Speaker 4: So these games, like I'm not saying you don't put
- 50:23Speaker 4: it all in, you know, to these games, but are
- 50:25Speaker 4: you really going, you know, is this more like let's
- 50:28Speaker 4: just take care of business and get the heck out
- 50:30Speaker 4: of Cincinnati, or is this like let's beat up on
- 50:33Speaker 4: the Bangles, you know.
- 50:35Speaker 3: Mark and fall River. He says yesterday, I felt there
- 50:37Speaker 3: was a certain amount of disrespect being handed to Stefan
- 50:41Speaker 3: Diggs when the discussion came up about Drake ma and
- 50:44Speaker 3: his performance. You harped on how little talent he has
- 50:47Speaker 3: around him. I don't know about that, but there wasn't
- 50:50Speaker 3: even a cursory mention of Diggs and the impact he's had.
- 50:53Speaker 3: I'm not saying he's a top five wide receiver, which
- 50:55Speaker 3: is specifically what you mentioned, but he has a huge
- 50:58Speaker 3: impact on this team and still playing at a high level.
- 51:01Speaker 3: I just want to make sure he gets mentioned because
- 51:04Speaker 3: in my opinion, he's been a main part of the
- 51:06Speaker 3: offensive turnaround. Good point.
- 51:07Speaker 2: No, that's a good point.
- 51:08Speaker 5: And I absolutely I got asked that last time on
- 51:10Speaker 5: the radio, who's your offensive MVP after Drake May and
- 51:13Speaker 5: I said Stefan Diggs and he mentioned he's.
- 51:15Speaker 3: Been solid all year.
- 51:17Speaker 2: I mean come back player of the yards already.
- 51:21Speaker 4: I don't think think he's around seven hundred, yes, but
- 51:24Speaker 4: he's on pace for about over one thousand, you know,
- 51:27Speaker 4: ninety catches thousand yards. You know, really strong candidate for
- 51:33Speaker 4: comeback Player of the Year in the league, you know,
- 51:35Speaker 4: coming back from the ACL and having this year, and
- 51:38Speaker 4: there's a real chance to the Patriots could have all,
- 51:41Speaker 4: you know, coach of the Year, Assistant coach of the
- 51:43Speaker 4: year m VP Comeback Player of the Year, like they
- 51:46Speaker 4: could have some some awards. You know, in this offseason.
- 51:50Speaker 5: You don't get to be an MVP candidate if your
- 51:52Speaker 5: team around you really sucks. I mean, the Patriots might
- 51:55Speaker 5: not have Jamar Chase, but still Stefan diak is a
- 51:58Speaker 5: very good player, and I mean the cupboard is not
- 52:01Speaker 5: bear right now.
- 52:02Speaker 2: There are solid players.
- 52:03Speaker 5: I think the point though, generally is just May is
- 52:05Speaker 5: elevating everybody. But they wouldn't be where they are right
- 52:08Speaker 5: now without Stefan Digs. It's a good shout.
- 52:10Speaker 3: Out Chris with a T I A N rights in
- 52:14Speaker 3: will this final stretch of games tell you more about
- 52:16Speaker 3: this team than the first eleven games. While the three
- 52:19Speaker 3: game road wins streak and winning in Miami, Tampa and
- 52:21Speaker 3: Buffalo are the marquee wins, I think wins against the
- 52:25Speaker 3: Ravens potentially sweeping the Bills will tell us a lot
- 52:28Speaker 3: about how far they'll go in January.
- 52:30Speaker 2: Yep, absolutely that is a good point.
- 52:33Speaker 4: But I'm kind of not saying that the rest of
- 52:36Speaker 4: the season. Regular season doesn't matter. But until we get
- 52:39Speaker 4: to the playoffs, like, you're not really going to find
- 52:41Speaker 4: out what this team is really made of. And I
- 52:43Speaker 4: just go back to twenty one, where they had a
- 52:45Speaker 4: good regular season and it looked like the arrow was
- 52:47Speaker 4: pointing up and then they got absolutely destroyed in Buffalo.
- 52:50Speaker 4: And I remember Belichick coming on the next day and
- 52:52Speaker 4: being like, is that who we are or do we
- 52:55Speaker 4: just have a bad night?
- 52:56Speaker 2: Well, and I doubt that that's who they were.
- 52:59Speaker 3: You know, I'll say this about twenty one. Some of
- 53:01Speaker 3: us who are paying attention, we saw it coming the
- 53:04Speaker 3: second half of the season.
- 53:06Speaker 2: Was from the Indian game.
- 53:07Speaker 4: Oh everybody, Yeah, I mean everybody saw that, But like
- 53:10Speaker 4: you still came out of that season.
- 53:13Speaker 2: Until the Buffalo game.
- 53:14Speaker 4: I think you could have still said, well, yeah, if
- 53:17Speaker 4: you keep building on this, then like you're going someplace here.
- 53:21Speaker 4: And they got their doors blowing off in Buffalo, and
- 53:23Speaker 4: now I think was a real like kind of friction
- 53:27Speaker 4: point of like, okay, maybe they the second half of
- 53:30Speaker 4: the year really was what they were and then Buffalo
- 53:33Speaker 4: was really what they were. And I think that that
- 53:35Speaker 4: that's when that kind of gets decided. Like if they
- 53:37Speaker 4: go this Patriots team stumbles a little bit down the
- 53:40Speaker 4: stretch but then wins a playoff game, then you're not
- 53:43Speaker 4: thinking about twenty You know, but I.
- 53:46Speaker 3: Think this stretch is important. It is important. No, I
- 53:49Speaker 3: think that you're not going to have Milton Williams. It's
- 53:52Speaker 3: been a grind. You haven't had a buy, so it's tough.
- 53:56Speaker 3: Even though you had this little mini buy. You're a
- 54:00Speaker 3: little banged up right now. So it's going to tell
- 54:03Speaker 3: you a lot about this team.
- 54:04Speaker 5: I kind of think about the comparison between the two
- 54:07Speaker 5: thousand and nine team and how they went out.
- 54:09Speaker 2: I mean, they got.
- 54:10Speaker 5: Beat pretty thoroughly here by Joe Flacco and the Ravens.
- 54:14Speaker 5: I mean, I think they were in like you know
- 54:15Speaker 5: now it's in the sound Battle twenty one points down,
- 54:18Speaker 5: like how could they come.
- 54:18Speaker 2: Back from that?
- 54:19Speaker 5: But you know that that team was, you know, been reconstituted.
- 54:23Speaker 5: It had a rookie quarterback, but they couldn't do anything.
- 54:27Speaker 2: And so you know, it's like the oh. Nine team
- 54:28Speaker 2: felt like it needed just a couple of tweaks.
- 54:31Speaker 5: Maybe that's understating it a little bit, but you know,
- 54:33Speaker 5: you got Gronka mccordy the next year and you really
- 54:35Speaker 5: started to rebuild. But to me, after that Oh one game,
- 54:38Speaker 5: it was like I don't know where to go, Like
- 54:39Speaker 5: they just spent everything on free agency.
- 54:42Speaker 2: I think Max is going to be kind of limited,
- 54:43Speaker 2: and you know, you were.
- 54:44Speaker 5: Kind of crossing your fingers and then the offensive coordinator
- 54:46Speaker 5: stuff happened.
- 54:47Speaker 4: Yeah, I just think it's hard with this this team
- 54:49Speaker 4: right now because they already had nine wins, and let's
- 54:53Speaker 4: face it, they have four very very winnable games. So like,
- 54:57Speaker 4: even if they lose to Buffalo and Baltimore, they're still
- 54:59Speaker 4: going to be twelve or thirteen wins because they have
- 55:02Speaker 4: this Bengals game, they have the Giants, they have the Dolphins,
- 55:04Speaker 4: and they.
- 55:04Speaker 2: Have the Jets. That's at least three.
- 55:06Speaker 4: Like, I don't know, the Dolphins are a little frisky,
- 55:08Speaker 4: we'll see, but like that, that's Dolphins hair late in
- 55:11Speaker 4: the season, right, And so like you could lose to
- 55:15Speaker 4: Buffalo and Baltimore and you're still going to win the division.
- 55:18Speaker 4: You're still going to have a high seed. In that way,
- 55:20Speaker 4: you could still go four and two, right, and you
- 55:22Speaker 4: can still be thirteen win team, right.
- 55:24Speaker 3: But I'd rather go four and two and have one
- 55:27Speaker 3: of the losses not be Buffalo or Ravens. I'd rather
- 55:32Speaker 3: lose to the Jets in Miami than lose to those guys.
- 55:36Speaker 4: Well, I guess it depends on, you know, how meaningful
- 55:38Speaker 4: the those Jets and Dolphins games are.
- 55:40Speaker 3: I understand, I understand, But in terms of like knowing
- 55:42Speaker 3: who we are, I wouldn't want to go four and
- 55:45Speaker 3: two and have our two losses against the two best teams.
- 55:48Speaker 2: Yeah, he's fair. It's a good question for Paul.
- 55:50Speaker 5: I feel like, of which of those four teams that
- 55:52Speaker 5: right now seem very winnable down the stretch, which ones
- 55:55Speaker 5: are those concerning?
- 55:56Speaker 4: I mean said Miami, Well, they're just playing a little
- 55:58Speaker 4: bit better. Yeah, I think they on three out of four.
- 56:00Speaker 4: And but Miami coming up here in late December, early
- 56:04Speaker 4: January and the freezing cold with really and probably still
- 56:08Speaker 4: nothing to play for. Like maybe they're like in play
- 56:11Speaker 4: for the seven seed, but I doubt it.
- 56:13Speaker 5: And I mean, and again that goes back to like,
- 56:15Speaker 5: you know, the twenty nineteen Patriots that were kind of
- 56:18Speaker 5: flawed and did had a similar situation in the Miami
- 56:21Speaker 5: with the Miami team, you know, came up here and
- 56:23Speaker 5: with with Ryan Fitzpatrick, and you know, they lose to
- 56:25Speaker 5: the you know, lose playoff seeding because of that, you know,
- 56:28Speaker 5: and that just goes back to me of what kind
- 56:31Speaker 5: of tone are we gonna set in the Mic Verbel
- 56:33Speaker 5: era of how we finished games, how we how we
- 56:35Speaker 5: finished seasons, how we come out of the by and
- 56:37Speaker 5: go into a really big game with playoff implications.
- 56:39Speaker 2: You know, what does that look like?
- 56:42Speaker 3: James has a simple question. He says, no matter what
- 56:44Speaker 3: happens in the remainder of the season in playoffs, is
- 56:47Speaker 3: this season of success?
- 56:49Speaker 2: No, I'm gonna say pretty much.
- 56:52Speaker 5: I mean, they look it could go sideways and terrible
- 56:54Speaker 5: things could happen, and you know, they could lose every
- 56:56Speaker 5: game on here like so it's not right locked in stone,
- 56:59Speaker 5: but like.
- 56:59Speaker 2: They're gonna be the playoffs.
- 57:00Speaker 3: I think, aside from the worst, like you said, you
- 57:06Speaker 3: lose every game from here on in and it goes sideways,
- 57:08Speaker 3: I think it is a success because we went into
- 57:11Speaker 3: the season saying, if we see improvement and we see
- 57:14Speaker 3: that Drake May is the guy, then that's what you're
- 57:18Speaker 3: looking for. Well that's what we've got. So I think
- 57:21Speaker 3: it is a success. Barring something crazy like that where
- 57:26Speaker 3: you lost, we lose the last six games, everything's a mess.
- 57:30Speaker 3: Drake May has become turnover king. I don't think. I
- 57:34Speaker 3: don't see that happen.
- 57:35Speaker 2: I'm what do you need that? What do you need
- 57:39Speaker 2: a playoff win that?
- 57:41Speaker 4: I think that like winning a playoff game you just won,
- 57:45Speaker 4: I think goes such a long way to like establishing
- 57:49Speaker 4: your program, Like this is like sure proof of concept. Absolutely,
- 57:52Speaker 4: It's one thing to have a great regular season, but
- 57:54Speaker 4: when you win a playoff game, like you really feel
- 57:57Speaker 4: like okay, like our quarterbacks want a playoff game. Our
- 58:00Speaker 4: program won a playoff game, and that like now like
- 58:03Speaker 4: there's real boy.
- 58:04Speaker 3: But like you said, you move the goal post, you know,
- 58:07Speaker 3: because that's not what the you know.
- 58:09Speaker 2: And then I would hit my over my season expectation
- 58:13Speaker 2: in August.
- 58:14Speaker 5: Right, But it still pains me with it all ahead
- 58:16Speaker 5: of you to say, like now it's already good, like
- 58:18Speaker 5: you know this is obviously you want you.
- 58:20Speaker 3: Want more, and then you want more. And the good
- 58:22Speaker 3: news is from what Rabel says about his players, and
- 58:26Speaker 3: they want more to they're not satisfied.
- 58:28Speaker 2: They mean, I fully admit I'm moving the goal post.
- 58:30Speaker 4: But now that we're like if they are nine to
- 58:33Speaker 4: two and they sput her out and they lose in
- 58:35Speaker 4: the wildcard round, and it's one of like.
- 58:37Speaker 2: You'd be disappointed.
- 58:38Speaker 3: As Brady said, you know, we didn't come this far
- 58:40Speaker 3: just to get this far. Yeah, all right, we're gonna
- 58:42Speaker 3: take a quick break. Rabel will be in one ten,
- 58:46Speaker 3: so when he comes on, we'll take another break for him.
- 58:49Speaker 6: Uh.
- 58:49Speaker 3: But I have to eat and we'll be right back
- 58:52Speaker 3: after this.

- 1:06:58Speaker 3: I know everybody around here, says the pig.
- 1:07:00Speaker 18: You know, the Celtics love to make it hard on themselves,
- 1:07:01Speaker 18: and you know they're doing it again, and they're blowing
- 1:07:04Speaker 18: opportunity with like nothing to do with the other team,
- 1:07:07Speaker 18: like forcing eighteen turnovers.
- 1:07:09Speaker 3: It's the Celtics. That's what I was trying to tell
- 1:07:11Speaker 3: you all these years with the Patriots when you would
- 1:07:13Speaker 3: say the other team's take, and I say, well, maybe
- 1:07:15Speaker 3: the Patriots had something to do with it, but now
- 1:07:18Speaker 3: because not, now you have that take. Wait a minute,
- 1:07:20Speaker 3: and I'm glad you've come around.
- 1:07:21Speaker 18: Wait a minute, and I agree with your take on
- 1:07:23Speaker 18: the Patriots, and I always have in games you and
- 1:07:26Speaker 18: Andy and playoff sucks the Patriots.
- 1:07:29Speaker 3: You know you're making two different arguments.
- 1:07:31Speaker 18: The league does what happens at The league does suck
- 1:07:34Speaker 18: by and large and teams give games away. But you
- 1:07:37Speaker 18: can't tell me they won six Super Bowls because the
- 1:07:39Speaker 18: other team sucked.
- 1:07:39Speaker 3: No, that's stupid. That's what you guys used to say.
- 1:07:42Speaker 18: Never once that I asked a little super Bowl the
- 1:07:45Speaker 18: other team sucked.
- 1:07:45Speaker 3: I would I would give credit to the other team
- 1:07:47Speaker 3: and the Patriots having beaten that team. You would take
- 1:07:50Speaker 3: away from the Patriots by diminishing the other team.
- 1:07:53Speaker 18: I would take away again, it again and again when
- 1:07:55Speaker 18: when they get dominated by like the Cleveland Browns and
- 1:07:59Speaker 18: lose because Cleveland gives the ball away seventeen times.
- 1:08:01Speaker 3: Like, that's different, right, because my Patriots had nothing to
- 1:08:03Speaker 3: do with.
- 1:08:03Speaker 18: But you don't beat the like the Steelers and the
- 1:08:06Speaker 18: Colts and the Rams all because the other seem sucks.
- 1:08:09Speaker 3: Sorry theyah, the team doesn't suck. No, but they say,
- 1:08:11Speaker 3: teams come to me. That's what they just pooped themselves.
- 1:08:15Speaker 3: I just don't know what to do that Celtics.
- 1:08:18Speaker 18: It's all about the Celtics sucking, not the Golden State
- 1:08:20Speaker 18: doing anything.
- 1:08:21Speaker 3: That I agree with. And I also agree with the
- 1:08:23Speaker 3: other way too.
- 1:08:24Speaker 1: That's another great moment from.
- 1:08:28Speaker 3: All right back here on Patriots Unfiltered. It's good to
- 1:08:31Speaker 3: be having those arguments again. Why are the Patriots winning?
- 1:08:36Speaker 3: Is it because they're good or the other team's stink?
- 1:08:38Speaker 3: And uh, you know that gets to the whole easy
- 1:08:41Speaker 3: schedule thing and I was just thinking to myself, if
- 1:08:45Speaker 3: you're a bad team, there is no such thing as
- 1:08:47Speaker 3: an easy schedule. If you have an easy schedule, it's
- 1:08:51Speaker 3: because you're good.
- 1:08:53Speaker 2: You're beating the other team right right.
- 1:08:55Speaker 3: And you know, like if the Patriots were they had it.
- 1:08:58Speaker 3: I don't know, if the Patriots were the where they
- 1:09:00Speaker 3: were last year, they'd beat four a four to win
- 1:09:03Speaker 3: team regardless of the schedule. But now they're good, so
- 1:09:07Speaker 3: they're turning this easy schedule into nine and two. Yeah,
- 1:09:12Speaker 3: you don't do that unless you're a good team.
- 1:09:13Speaker 5: I mean, we knew what the schedule was coming into
- 1:09:15Speaker 5: the season, and we knew, you know, what kind of
- 1:09:17Speaker 5: team this was. I mean, the conversations we had and
- 1:09:19Speaker 5: you know, Paul leading the charge with they're probably gonna
- 1:09:22Speaker 5: go fifty to fifty. You know, that's where this team
- 1:09:24Speaker 5: is out there rebuilding. They're not going to win all
- 1:09:26Speaker 5: of these games against the bad teams. But they have
- 1:09:28Speaker 5: won all the bad teams, and now all of the
- 1:09:30Speaker 5: goalposts move and you're like, well, they haven't beaten anybody,
- 1:09:33Speaker 5: you know. I mean, and again they play take the
- 1:09:35Speaker 5: defenses and every NFL team is good, like every you know,
- 1:09:38Speaker 5: every you go around It's like I said yesterday, you
- 1:09:40Speaker 5: go around the league, all these teams that the Patriots
- 1:09:42Speaker 5: have beaten have beaten other teams. It's not like every
- 1:09:44Speaker 5: team they play haven't won a single game. You know,
- 1:09:46Speaker 5: some are better than others. But again, like they're in
- 1:09:49Speaker 5: relegation right now, like you got to get out of
- 1:09:51Speaker 5: the fourth place schedule, like I get it. None of
- 1:09:53Speaker 5: us like watching like, oh great, we gotta go play
- 1:09:55Speaker 5: the Bengals this week, Like we much rather have a
- 1:09:57Speaker 5: game with some juice to it.
- 1:09:58Speaker 2: But the schedule, you don't make it.
- 1:10:00Speaker 3: It's already I'll be perfectly happy beating up.
- 1:10:02Speaker 5: Those are special for you, Fred, you know at that scenario,
- 1:10:06Speaker 5: all right, two and oh again then in the last
- 1:10:08Speaker 5: two years, you know, it's pretty good.
- 1:10:09Speaker 3: Yeah. Eight five five Pats five hundred is the Hotline
- 1:10:12Speaker 3: podcast at Patriots dot Com. Momentarily, we'll be turning it
- 1:10:16Speaker 3: over to Mike Rabel bringing you his press conference as
- 1:10:20Speaker 3: we do every Wednesday. So as soon as that happens,
- 1:10:24Speaker 3: we'll go to him. But in the meantime, let's go
- 1:10:26Speaker 3: to Randall in Texas. What's up Randall? Randall, Randall and Texas. Well,
- 1:10:36Speaker 3: I guess I'm gonna mess with Texas. Let's go to
- 1:10:40Speaker 3: Randy in Providence. Hey Randy, Hey.
- 1:10:44Speaker 19: How's it going? Guys? Listen, I'm calling in to Usk.
- 1:10:48Speaker 19: Do you guys think that there the Patriots are getting
- 1:10:51Speaker 19: enough respect with a seven and a half points.
- 1:10:53Speaker 3: Well, we're gonna have to put you on hold and
- 1:10:55Speaker 3: we're gonna go to Mike Vrabel.
- 1:10:58Speaker 6: How are you j suspended? What you've seen?
- 1:11:03Speaker 11: Some teeth Higgins and the rest of me.
- 1:11:05Speaker 20: Again, talent, plenty of talent, it's just the opportunities probably
- 1:11:10Speaker 20: haven't been there. But when they've been given the opportunity
- 1:11:16Speaker 20: and they've gone to them, you know, whether that's Yoshi Vas,
- 1:11:19Speaker 20: that's Tinsley down the field obviously t deep threat, you know,
- 1:11:26Speaker 20: took a slant to the house against Pittsburgh, tight window,
- 1:11:30Speaker 20: you know, split the safeties, you know. So I don't
- 1:11:32Speaker 20: think that they lacking talent. I think it's just been opportunity.
- 1:11:36Speaker 20: So again we'll have to do a you know, a
- 1:11:39Speaker 20: great job, you know, trying to defend them, whether that
- 1:11:44Speaker 20: be Brown or Higgins or anybody else.
- 1:11:48Speaker 6: It's just a big challenge offensively.
- 1:11:51Speaker 10: Like a question from caring for Uh cool, I'm good, Thanks,
- 1:11:55Speaker 10: Forssing since you became a head coach, how if it all,
- 1:12:00Speaker 10: have you changed how you manage your individual relationships with
- 1:12:03Speaker 10: players over the years.
- 1:12:07Speaker 20: I mean, again, I'm my jobs have a you know,
- 1:12:10Speaker 20: a relationship or a connection with with everybody here, players
- 1:12:15Speaker 20: and staff included. Some of those relationships are stronger than others.
- 1:12:19Speaker 20: That's kind of the nature of this. But you know,
- 1:12:24Speaker 20: I think for me, it's just been having something in
- 1:12:28Speaker 20: each room or part of the game plan in each
- 1:12:31Speaker 20: phase that will at least allow me to have a
- 1:12:35Speaker 20: conversation about the game plan, about their job or technique,
- 1:12:43Speaker 20: which is the best way, you know, to be able
- 1:12:44Speaker 20: to have that connection through the week, you know, And
- 1:12:50Speaker 20: then again just try to be as genuine as I
- 1:12:52Speaker 20: possibly can.
- 1:12:54Speaker 3: You you needed, wanted gotten when you were player, and something.
- 1:12:58Speaker 6: You felt like it was important to you.
- 1:12:59Speaker 20: I don't know if it was that needed. I mean,
- 1:13:03Speaker 20: it was just kind of different. I think it was
- 1:13:05Speaker 20: just different. And I haven't coached anybody any differently from
- 1:13:08Speaker 20: the from the three years that I spent at Ohio
- 1:13:11Speaker 20: State going to Houston. They were maybe a year or
- 1:13:16Speaker 20: two older, and back then they made more money. Now
- 1:13:21Speaker 20: they're just a year or two older, and some of
- 1:13:23Speaker 20: them make about the same amount of money, So I
- 1:13:27Speaker 20: appreciate where they all come from. I appreciate their backgrounds.
- 1:13:32Speaker 20: You can see the type of people they are by
- 1:13:34Speaker 20: when you meet their families. I think that's something that
- 1:13:38Speaker 20: you know, really shows and the pride that they have.
- 1:13:41Speaker 20: And you know how you know, we we do this
- 1:13:44Speaker 20: to provide for our family, so you know, outside of winning, well,
- 1:13:49Speaker 20: that's what's let's be honest, like, that's that's why we
- 1:13:51Speaker 20: do this. So I enjoy meeting their families, and I
- 1:13:55Speaker 20: enjoy meeting the people that they care about. And we
- 1:13:58Speaker 20: always said things that are important of them should be
- 1:14:00Speaker 20: important to us.
- 1:14:01Speaker 10: As a player, you were known sort of as an enforcer,
- 1:14:06Speaker 10: and I know accountability is super important to you now.
- 1:14:09Speaker 2: So as a coach, you.
- 1:14:10Speaker 5: Know, how have you evolved in creating accountability?
- 1:14:15Speaker 20: And I think my job, I've said this is to
- 1:14:17Speaker 20: try to protect the team and stay consistent and try
- 1:14:22Speaker 20: to hold the best players the most accountable. That way,
- 1:14:25Speaker 20: it sets a clear message to everybody, you know, throughout
- 1:14:30Speaker 20: not you know, if the quarterback makes a mistake, of
- 1:14:34Speaker 20: Drake makes a mistake, doesn't really do me any good
- 1:14:37Speaker 20: to sit there and coach up Tommy you de veto
- 1:14:42Speaker 20: just go right to the source. And I think the
- 1:14:44Speaker 20: players appreciate the consistency, like.
- 1:14:46Speaker 2: The stability of the offensive line in their performance.
- 1:14:49Speaker 6: This season seems like it's like to a while team's success.
- 1:14:53Speaker 20: Can you talk about what that group and the coaching
- 1:14:56Speaker 20: staff and Dog maroone has.
- 1:14:58Speaker 3: Meant to his success?
- 1:14:59Speaker 6: Well, Dog, I mean that's a good group in there,
- 1:15:00Speaker 6: you know what I mean. Doug Doug's.
- 1:15:04Speaker 20: In charge, but but Jason otanling Hass and you know
- 1:15:08Speaker 20: Kug's I think we're lucky. I think those guys really
- 1:15:10Speaker 20: do a good job. Like I said when I talked
- 1:15:15Speaker 20: about the staff, they can all take a group and
- 1:15:18Speaker 20: coach them and pre practice individual.
- 1:15:22Speaker 6: Uh so you see a lot of that is.
- 1:15:23Speaker 20: You know, split up, and guys are getting work and
- 1:15:26Speaker 20: reps and so there's a lot of confidence there.
- 1:15:29Speaker 6: I think the players are building some confidence.
- 1:15:31Speaker 20: I think that, you know, the more that we get
- 1:15:35Speaker 20: into this thing and they understand kind of the design
- 1:15:38Speaker 20: of the play and kind of how Drake's gonna operate,
- 1:15:42Speaker 20: whether that's you know, trying to climb the pocket or
- 1:15:46Speaker 20: you know, the extension and everything else, I think it all,
- 1:15:49Speaker 20: you know, goes hand in hand I think they communicate well,
- 1:15:51Speaker 20: and you know, the more that we've been able to
- 1:15:53Speaker 20: be out there as a unit has led to you know,
- 1:15:57Speaker 20: some good results.
- 1:16:00Speaker 4: And possibly during the return you've had Trayyon kind of be.
- 1:16:04Speaker 21: That named back in the last few games.
- 1:16:06Speaker 3: Do you have a is there a plan kind of
- 1:16:08Speaker 3: to have a better balance between.
- 1:16:10Speaker 22: The two of them when they're both ready to play
- 1:16:12Speaker 22: or when Rmandre is helping.
- 1:16:14Speaker 20: I think we'll probably have to have that conversation, you know,
- 1:16:19Speaker 20: when it's you know certain that we're going to have
- 1:16:22Speaker 20: Romandre's going to work through practice today and you know,
- 1:16:25Speaker 20: we'll see where things go. So Travion's helped us, or
- 1:16:31Speaker 20: Andre has helped us, Trell's helped us, you know, disappointed
- 1:16:34Speaker 20: at dearness kind of, you know, have a couple more carries,
- 1:16:37Speaker 20: We gained some good yards on a whatever they thought
- 1:16:41Speaker 20: was a holding penalty and go from there. So we'll
- 1:16:45Speaker 20: try to have them all help us. But it's been
- 1:16:47Speaker 20: good to see Travion continue to to run hard and
- 1:16:50Speaker 20: take care the football and everything else.
- 1:16:53Speaker 10: Like what's been your impression of Joe Flacco and just
- 1:16:55Speaker 10: the way that bangled offense?
- 1:16:56Speaker 20: Good playing, uh, efficient on time, a lot of again,
- 1:17:03Speaker 20: you're not gonna trick him. You're not gonna trick him.
- 1:17:05Speaker 20: You're gonna have to cover him, beat him.
- 1:17:07Speaker 6: You know, rush on.
- 1:17:08Speaker 20: The ball comes out quick, you know, doesn't seem to
- 1:17:13Speaker 20: get rattled very easily. It's not something that's gonna happen.
- 1:17:18Speaker 20: You know, arm strength and accuracy has been great. You know,
- 1:17:22Speaker 20: he kind of knows what he wants to do and
- 1:17:25Speaker 20: where he wants to go with the ball.
- 1:17:26Speaker 6: It's a lot of command.
- 1:17:27Speaker 10: Like he's also someone you saw as a player. I
- 1:17:30Speaker 10: don't know, I know all those memories are great, but
- 1:17:32Speaker 10: what do you remember about a young Joe Blacket on
- 1:17:34Speaker 10: the other sideline?
- 1:17:35Speaker 20: I mean about the same, I mean, big, talented, strong,
- 1:17:40Speaker 20: probably ran a little bit more.
- 1:17:44Speaker 6: So.
- 1:17:44Speaker 20: Just the longevity, A lot of respect for him as
- 1:17:46Speaker 20: a as a person and as a player.
- 1:17:49Speaker 10: Will give a chance to receive them how to practice theoretically.
- 1:17:52Speaker 10: But I talked about remondering his situation, Keishawan and Christian
- 1:17:57Speaker 10: as well.
- 1:17:57Speaker 2: As any pigs.
- 1:17:58Speaker 20: Yeah, they'll all work today and we'll see, you know,
- 1:18:02Speaker 20: how they respond after today and kind of keep moving
- 1:18:05Speaker 20: from there. But no real update. They haven't done anything
- 1:18:09Speaker 20: that you know, we've pushed through other than that. So
- 1:18:14Speaker 20: hopefully they're out there and they will be and ready
- 1:18:16Speaker 20: to go, and then we'll see where they where they go.
- 1:18:18Speaker 4: Decision to CG to the off the cross room less
- 1:18:22Speaker 4: similar to the situation you kind of talked about earlier
- 1:18:25Speaker 4: this week.
- 1:18:25Speaker 21: Bread and where it's someone you put time in with
- 1:18:27Speaker 21: and want.
- 1:18:29Speaker 3: To continue working with.
- 1:18:30Speaker 20: Yeah, there's a lot of things that go involved with that,
- 1:18:32Speaker 20: and you know, certainly those two players were ones that
- 1:18:36Speaker 20: kept showing up as the you know, show team players
- 1:18:39Speaker 20: or whether it's on special teams or offense or defense,
- 1:18:43Speaker 20: and so.
- 1:18:45Speaker 6: There's you know, it's just.
- 1:18:46Speaker 20: Kind of what happens when you get to this part
- 1:18:47Speaker 20: in the season, and you know, we'll see if those
- 1:18:50Speaker 20: guys can can help us. And we ask everybody to
- 1:18:53Speaker 20: prepare as a starter when they come in here. And
- 1:18:55Speaker 20: I don't think anything should change or will change for
- 1:18:57Speaker 20: those guys like you.
- 1:18:59Speaker 3: Haven't been that the quarterback of the treat concept impacted
- 1:19:02Speaker 3: back weeks all much It is from.
- 1:19:05Speaker 6: You know, having yours taught to you, running to play, simulating,
- 1:19:09Speaker 6: doing to practice versus just.
- 1:19:10Speaker 3: The players out there with high awareness.
- 1:19:13Speaker 6: I disciplined you to the game. Well, we're not gonna
- 1:19:15Speaker 6: be able to show them everything. We have a lot of.
- 1:19:19Speaker 20: Again, admiration, respect, gratitude for the players that give us
- 1:19:24Speaker 20: those looks throughout the week. I think they take great
- 1:19:27Speaker 20: pride in that we ask them to try to you know,
- 1:19:30Speaker 20: they're being evaluated and they're you know, we're trying to
- 1:19:33Speaker 20: put it in the best as we can in our
- 1:19:34Speaker 20: language and letting them play football and letting them compete
- 1:19:37Speaker 20: and you know, try to stay up and take care
- 1:19:39Speaker 20: of each other. We don't want anything that's out of control.
- 1:19:41Speaker 20: But I think improvement has been made by players on
- 1:19:45Speaker 20: those units. They give us a fantastic look and all
- 1:19:50Speaker 20: you know, first second, third down, We get to the
- 1:19:52Speaker 20: red zone late in the week, so again that starts there.
- 1:19:57Speaker 20: And then we're not going to be able to show
- 1:20:00Speaker 20: them every single play that they're going to see in
- 1:20:02Speaker 20: the game. That's that's impossible. Where nobody's that good. There's
- 1:20:06Speaker 20: things that will show them you know, that they'll be
- 1:20:09Speaker 20: able to recall. But then it comes down today eleven
- 1:20:12Speaker 20: guys out there, if there's an unscouted look or there's
- 1:20:14Speaker 20: a scout you know, I mean, there's a play that
- 1:20:17Speaker 20: you know comes up that they haven't seen or they
- 1:20:19Speaker 20: haven't run this year that you know, you kind of
- 1:20:21Speaker 20: use your tools and use you know, kind of your
- 1:20:25Speaker 20: rules for the play and what your responsibility is to
- 1:20:28Speaker 20: to go and defend it.
- 1:20:32Speaker 4: Drake said on the radio the other day that one
- 1:20:34Speaker 4: of the concepts he's been focused on here is remaining
- 1:20:37Speaker 4: a passer as long as possible.
- 1:20:39Speaker 23: Everyone needs to taking off.
- 1:20:40Speaker 14: How much progress have you seen with that particular skill
- 1:20:44Speaker 14: or development for him.
- 1:20:45Speaker 20: Yeah, I mean I think that that's something that was
- 1:20:49Speaker 20: you know, talked about in the off season that we
- 1:20:51Speaker 20: wanted to try to allow him to do and let
- 1:20:54Speaker 20: him work on it. And you know, example on the
- 1:20:58Speaker 20: sidelines there with Digs the other night, is maintaining a
- 1:21:01Speaker 20: passer as long as he can still threaten the edge
- 1:21:05Speaker 20: and then if people come out of coverage, being able
- 1:21:07Speaker 20: to you know, make good decisions and great decisions with
- 1:21:10Speaker 20: the football and it leads to you know, fifteen extra yards.
- 1:21:14Speaker 20: He wasn't gonna run for fifteen yards. So again, those
- 1:21:18Speaker 20: are things that really can put stress on the defense
- 1:21:21Speaker 20: when you do them positively and you're not making bad decisions.
- 1:21:24Speaker 2: He's the treats been so accurate this year.
- 1:21:28Speaker 10: What kind of work have you seen him put in
- 1:21:31Speaker 10: to refine or improve that part of playing the position.
- 1:21:34Speaker 2: Of how much of that just might be an.
- 1:21:36Speaker 20: Eight I think probably a little bit of both. I
- 1:21:39Speaker 20: think that Josh and Ashton and have tried to work
- 1:21:44Speaker 20: hard on that. I also think Drake is talented. And
- 1:21:48Speaker 20: again it's like a pitcher, And I mean, I don't
- 1:21:50Speaker 20: know if there was a pitching coach that was really
- 1:21:55Speaker 20: taught Greg Maddox how to paint the plate and put
- 1:21:58Speaker 20: the ball wherever he wanted to.
- 1:22:00Speaker 6: So I think there's some some natural skill there.
- 1:22:02Speaker 20: But then I think that they work on those things,
- 1:22:04Speaker 20: and they work on platform and throwing off of different
- 1:22:06Speaker 20: places and still remaining accurate and climbing the pocket and
- 1:22:10Speaker 20: working with a base and all those things, and then
- 1:22:12Speaker 20: you know there's other times where it's just natural athletic
- 1:22:15Speaker 20: ability and hand eye coordination and putting the ball in
- 1:22:20Speaker 20: good spots.
- 1:22:22Speaker 3: Thank you, are you running all right? That was Mike
- 1:22:33Speaker 3: Vrabel and Paul would have been proud, Big Baseball reference
- 1:22:36Speaker 3: Greg Maddox painting the outside of the plate.
- 1:22:38Speaker 2: We go, yeah, it's good stuff.
- 1:22:40Speaker 3: You proud of them. And we pulled that one out
- 1:22:43Speaker 3: of so anything notable, you know.
- 1:22:47Speaker 5: At the end, I liked just I got to ask
- 1:22:48Speaker 5: this question last night. It really made me think, and
- 1:22:50Speaker 5: maybe I'm curious what you think, Fred was. You know,
- 1:22:53Speaker 5: when did you realize this year that Drake was taking
- 1:22:56Speaker 5: like a big leap, you know? And I said, well,
- 1:22:58Speaker 5: the first thing for me was in the spring, he
- 1:23:00Speaker 5: just looked comfortable and that was you know, but it's
- 1:23:02Speaker 5: Ota is mini camp.
- 1:23:03Speaker 2: There's nothing really going on competitively.
- 1:23:05Speaker 5: And I said, I didn't even know in the training camp,
- 1:23:08Speaker 5: like you know, we watched all those training camp practices.
- 1:23:10Speaker 5: I was in the you know, the joint practice up
- 1:23:11Speaker 5: in Minnesota, and it really to me felt like like
- 1:23:14Speaker 5: the win streak when it started, he just started to
- 1:23:16Speaker 5: string these games together. And it wasn't anything we saw
- 1:23:19Speaker 5: this summer that made me say, oh, yeah, there here
- 1:23:21Speaker 5: it is.
- 1:23:21Speaker 2: This is what it was like.
- 1:23:22Speaker 5: He has flashes throughout training camp, but never like this,
- 1:23:26Speaker 5: you know.
- 1:23:26Speaker 3: And you know, he didn't have a lot of play
- 1:23:28Speaker 3: in preseason, like you said, it wasn't until the winning
- 1:23:32Speaker 3: streak started that you said, whoa, he's This isn't just
- 1:23:36Speaker 3: one game, but I mean he's doing it again and
- 1:23:39Speaker 3: again and again. This is who he is. You know.
- 1:23:42Speaker 3: Raiders game, first game, you didn't see it.
- 1:23:44Speaker 2: Then No, No, a little bit in Miami.
- 1:23:46Speaker 5: I mean Buffalo obviously that was a huge win, and
- 1:23:49Speaker 5: you know that that throw that's still making the rounds
- 1:23:51Speaker 5: to Stefan Diggs.
- 1:23:52Speaker 2: But no, it really was a regular season thing to me,
- 1:23:55Speaker 2: which is just.
- 1:23:56Speaker 3: Absolutely you know it was anyone, that's all I saw it.
- 1:24:01Speaker 3: I saw it in mini camp, but no, there's nothing
- 1:24:04Speaker 3: that would have told you this.
- 1:24:05Speaker 5: No, it still felt like you were gonna, you know,
- 1:24:07Speaker 5: be feeling it out a little bit. I mean, it's
- 1:24:09Speaker 5: it's hard to make comparisons because I think even you know,
- 1:24:12Speaker 5: Caleb Williams a little bit, you're seeing that too, like
- 1:24:14Speaker 5: he's had some great plays, but you're still seeing a
- 1:24:16Speaker 5: second year quarterback figure it out. And there's you know,
- 1:24:18Speaker 5: some episom flows to it. But I just I continue
- 1:24:22Speaker 5: to be amazed by you know, you watch guys all summer,
- 1:24:24Speaker 5: you watch training camp, you have an impression of what
- 1:24:26Speaker 5: kind of team is this, and then you get into
- 1:24:28Speaker 5: the regular season and you know, just blows your mind
- 1:24:30Speaker 5: that this guy all of a sudden is playing at
- 1:24:32Speaker 5: this crazy level.
- 1:24:32Speaker 3: And believe it or not, Like I think this offense
- 1:24:35Speaker 3: has a lot of room for improvement because forget about
- 1:24:39Speaker 3: the running game. That's that's its own thing. But it's
- 1:24:42Speaker 3: in terms of Drake in the passing game. A lot
- 1:24:45Speaker 3: of his best plays are off platform. A lot of
- 1:24:48Speaker 3: his best plays are when he's had to extend or
- 1:24:50Speaker 3: move around in the pocket because the first option wasn't there.
- 1:24:56Speaker 3: I think, you know, obviously, we all want to get
- 1:24:59Speaker 3: to that point where that first option is there, like
- 1:25:02Speaker 3: you know, the play is run as it was drawn up.
- 1:25:05Speaker 3: And when you get to that point and the other
- 1:25:08Speaker 3: plays are are less frequent, that's when you're going to
- 1:25:12Speaker 3: see this offense really start to be a well oiled machine.
- 1:25:15Speaker 3: We're not there yet, belieh or not. Now.
- 1:25:17Speaker 2: That's and that goes to the question I think.
- 1:25:19Speaker 5: I think Megan Odolini asked about, you know, just just
- 1:25:22Speaker 5: Drake's ability to stay a passer, and I think that's
- 1:25:24Speaker 5: where for me, some of the ebbs.
- 1:25:26Speaker 2: And flows of his season have been.
- 1:25:27Speaker 5: You've seen at times and contain pockets that you will
- 1:25:31Speaker 5: see him get a little rushed and maybe quicker to
- 1:25:33Speaker 5: get out of the pocket. But I thought last week
- 1:25:35Speaker 5: the protection was better. He got comfortable in the pocket.
- 1:25:38Speaker 5: You didn't see him trying to run. He was staying
- 1:25:40Speaker 5: in there even when there was some pressure.
- 1:25:41Speaker 2: And still delivering throws.
- 1:25:43Speaker 5: So I totally agree with your point if he can
- 1:25:45Speaker 5: continue to stay at that point, and granted it's probably
- 1:25:47Speaker 5: depending a lot on the protection, but they've been better too,
- 1:25:51Speaker 5: So yeah.
- 1:25:51Speaker 3: It's Randy's been on hold. I hope he's still there.
- 1:25:54Speaker 3: What's up, Randy? Hey, Hey, thanks for holding on listening
- 1:25:59Speaker 3: to Rabel.
- 1:26:01Speaker 19: I don't know if I'm gonna be bumped for anybody,
- 1:26:03Speaker 19: I might as well be the car, right, Yeah, So yeah,
- 1:26:08Speaker 19: I just I had wanted to call it that. Ask
- 1:26:10Speaker 19: you guys if you feel like the Pats are getting
- 1:26:12Speaker 19: enough respect with the spread this week.
- 1:26:15Speaker 2: At your department?
- 1:26:16Speaker 19: Seven point five?
- 1:26:18Speaker 3: So what they're they're favored by seven and a half.
- 1:26:22Speaker 19: Yeah, and this is against a team that's losing by
- 1:26:26Speaker 19: ten and a half on average.
- 1:26:28Speaker 3: Well you get three, so that's kind of it is
- 1:26:30Speaker 3: ten and a half sort of.
- 1:26:32Speaker 2: I wish Paul is here, No, I hear it just seven,
- 1:26:35Speaker 2: So seven and a half.
- 1:26:36Speaker 3: This is eight.
- 1:26:37Speaker 5: Now I don't we'll go by DraftKings. But yeah, I
- 1:26:39Speaker 5: mean that, and.
- 1:26:40Speaker 19: I mean, now put some numbers to it. This is
- 1:26:43Speaker 19: a historically bad defense, right, the nine straight games they've
- 1:26:47Speaker 19: given up at at least twenty seven points, and their
- 1:26:51Speaker 19: defensive DVOA if you're into that sort of thing, is
- 1:26:54Speaker 19: negative twenty nine, which is thirty second in the league.
- 1:26:58Speaker 19: But it's also the worst since the inception of the
- 1:27:01Speaker 19: DVOA in nineteen seventy eight. Yeah, so's the worst defense
- 1:27:05Speaker 19: by that measurement in almost fifty years.
- 1:27:08Speaker 5: Yeah, I mean maybe, I mean, I don't know a
- 1:27:10Speaker 5: lot about gambling, but I think part of it is
- 1:27:12Speaker 5: your team still getting a feel for what this Patriots
- 1:27:15Speaker 5: team is, and do they going against the terrible defense
- 1:27:18Speaker 5: blow doors on them, because I mean I think, I mean,
- 1:27:21Speaker 5: the Jets were the Jets last week, but like I said,
- 1:27:23Speaker 5: they've had some some good defenses that it almost scares
- 1:27:26Speaker 5: me a little bit, like going into a gamer and like,
- 1:27:27Speaker 5: all right, they better just blow the you know, hanging
- 1:27:30Speaker 5: thirty forty points on this team.
- 1:27:32Speaker 3: So, Randy, when's the last time you checked the spread?
- 1:27:34Speaker 3: Was that just today?
- 1:27:36Speaker 6: Yeah?
- 1:27:36Speaker 19: This morning?
- 1:27:37Speaker 3: It was okay? Yeah, because I wonder if Jamar Chase,
- 1:27:41Speaker 3: you know, that final ruling changed anything last night, but
- 1:27:45Speaker 3: you said it's gone up to eight.
- 1:27:46Speaker 2: Yeah, that was according to eight and a half Patriots
- 1:27:49Speaker 2: now it's eight and a half.
- 1:27:50Speaker 3: It's moving, so it's moving up a little. Randy, you
- 1:27:53Speaker 3: know that some of that could be trying to get
- 1:27:54Speaker 3: some Cincinnati money in. But I you know, I'm eight
- 1:28:00Speaker 3: and a half. That's a pretty big spread in today's NFL.
- 1:28:04Speaker 3: But I hear what you're saying. You know, the Patriots
- 1:28:06Speaker 3: should be able to put up points, but aside from
- 1:28:10Speaker 3: last week, Cincinnati's been able to put up points too, right,
- 1:28:15Speaker 3: So it's not like they true and they're at home.
- 1:28:18Speaker 3: So I think seven and a half eight points is
- 1:28:20Speaker 3: probably right. It's probably right.
- 1:28:23Speaker 19: And so by the way, tagging on to what you
- 1:28:25Speaker 19: guys were saying about people knowing with May, didn't you
- 1:28:28Speaker 19: feel like it was kind of almost the opposite like
- 1:28:31Speaker 19: early in training camp, but you remember the four interception
- 1:28:34Speaker 19: practice that started things off, and it just kind of
- 1:28:37Speaker 19: felt like people were almost waiting for that again as
- 1:28:41Speaker 19: opposed to expecting some big leaps Like I don't feel
- 1:28:45Speaker 19: I feel like you guys are one hundred percent right,
- 1:28:46Speaker 19: like nobody saw this sort of leap coming.
- 1:28:49Speaker 3: Nope, thanks for Andy.
- 1:28:50Speaker 5: Now I gotta get sell my notes on that four
- 1:28:52Speaker 5: interception of practice and remember that one exactly.
- 1:28:55Speaker 2: But no, but I get the point.
- 1:28:56Speaker 5: I mean, it was you know, and even I mean
- 1:28:57Speaker 5: i'd point more towards Minnesota, where you know, there were
- 1:29:01Speaker 5: some big plays down the field.
- 1:29:02Speaker 2: I mean mac Hollins, you know, had a big play
- 1:29:04Speaker 2: down the field, and.
- 1:29:05Speaker 5: So you did see some of that, but you just
- 1:29:07Speaker 5: don't know how it's in the trans and people.
- 1:29:10Speaker 3: You know, I'm sure there's people out there saying I
- 1:29:12Speaker 3: knew he was gonna make this big leap. Okay, maybe
- 1:29:15Speaker 3: you did, but you didn't know that based off empirical evidence.
- 1:29:19Speaker 3: You were you had faith, you had hope it was
- 1:29:22Speaker 3: a big wish. Because the objective talk coming out of
- 1:29:27Speaker 3: last year into this year is who is Drake May
- 1:29:30Speaker 3: Is he this turnover guy? Is he a guy who's
- 1:29:32Speaker 3: going to turn it over? Or is he this amazing
- 1:29:36Speaker 3: athlete who's who's doing what we see him do? Now,
- 1:29:41Speaker 3: no one knew for sure either way. There was just
- 1:29:45Speaker 3: no evidence to show you either way. Now we're getting
- 1:29:48Speaker 3: a string of games that game in and game out,
- 1:29:52Speaker 3: he's doing the same thing, and so we can confidently say, yeah,
- 1:29:55Speaker 3: this guy, this is the guy.
- 1:29:57Speaker 5: Yeah looking back at you know, I right, little just
- 1:30:00Speaker 5: shot down some notes after.
- 1:30:01Speaker 2: A tuning camp practice, and I mean.
- 1:30:02Speaker 5: Just you know, kind of backs up what we're saying, like,
- 1:30:04Speaker 5: you know, second practice.
- 1:30:05Speaker 2: Another pretty efficient day for Drake.
- 1:30:07Speaker 5: May uh you know, Drake a little shaky accuracy early on,
- 1:30:10Speaker 5: but still makes some late some big late down throws
- 1:30:14Speaker 5: down the stretch.
- 1:30:15Speaker 3: You know.
- 1:30:15Speaker 2: So it's yeah, it was.
- 1:30:17Speaker 5: It was you know, up and down, and that's how
- 1:30:18Speaker 5: I thought it would be coming into the season.
- 1:30:19Speaker 2: He'd have you know, games where it all seemed to
- 1:30:21Speaker 2: click and he.
- 1:30:22Speaker 5: Did well, and then there're big game where I's throwing
- 1:30:24Speaker 5: a couple of bad interceptions and you know, looks a
- 1:30:26Speaker 5: little off. I think that's more of what a you know,
- 1:30:28Speaker 5: a trajectory for a young quarterback looks like.
- 1:30:30Speaker 2: But he's just exceeded all those.
- 1:30:32Speaker 3: Expectations and every the wins last year, like for example, Chicago,
- 1:30:36Speaker 3: they won that game in Chicago. D haven't really enough.
- 1:30:39Speaker 5: Yeah yeah, no, no, you didn't see anything like this,
- 1:30:42Speaker 5: and that's I guess.
- 1:30:43Speaker 2: I would just point to the Buffalo game. I think
- 1:30:45Speaker 2: that was where it was like, oh boy, he's going
- 1:30:48Speaker 2: to do.
- 1:30:48Speaker 5: This in front of a national audience against a division
- 1:30:50Speaker 5: rival on the road, which you know, right now talk
- 1:30:53Speaker 5: about like toughest important game to play every season at Buffalo,
- 1:30:56Speaker 5: at Miami Division games on the.
- 1:30:57Speaker 3: Road, down the stretch, getting him in field goal.
- 1:31:00Speaker 5: You win both those games within you know, and I
- 1:31:02Speaker 5: know what the Dolphins have turned out to be. But look,
- 1:31:04Speaker 5: you know they never lost the two We know what
- 1:31:06Speaker 5: the house ofholror of Miami has been. So that little
- 1:31:08Speaker 5: stretch there, you know, it was what in three weeks
- 1:31:10Speaker 5: that they played those two teams.
- 1:31:12Speaker 2: That's to me was really really.
- 1:31:13Speaker 3: Like the Miami game. You come out, you jump out
- 1:31:15Speaker 3: to a lead, and then you lose that lead and
- 1:31:18Speaker 3: it's like up here we are, yeah, right, another game
- 1:31:20Speaker 3: in Miami. Yeah, this is the way they go. But
- 1:31:22Speaker 3: it didn't know they reversed the team and Drake may
- 1:31:26Speaker 3: reverse that and you said, okay.
- 1:31:28Speaker 5: And that and that drive against Buffalo at the end
- 1:31:30Speaker 5: where you know, my big question coming in is Drake clutch.
- 1:31:32Speaker 2: I mean that was clutch I.
- 1:31:33Speaker 5: And shaking a guy off, making throws down the field,
- 1:31:35Speaker 5: setting up the game winning field goal. You know, it's
- 1:31:38Speaker 5: said that that's the stuff. I still haven't gotten a
- 1:31:40Speaker 5: point yet though I've seen him out of fred of like,
- 1:31:42Speaker 5: you know, when you got to that point, it's certain,
- 1:31:44Speaker 5: I don't know what it happened for you with Brady,
- 1:31:45Speaker 5: where you're just like, no, he's awesome. He's gonna be
- 1:31:46Speaker 5: awesome every week. You know, I haven't quite gotten there
- 1:31:49Speaker 5: with Drake yet. And I mean I don't mean that
- 1:31:50Speaker 5: as disrespectful. It's just it's all so new to me.
- 1:31:53Speaker 5: You know, there's still a part of you waiting for
- 1:31:54Speaker 5: is he going to have an off game? Is he
- 1:31:55Speaker 5: going to be a little you know, and and there
- 1:31:57Speaker 5: are been moments, but he just seems to back, you
- 1:32:00Speaker 5: bounce back when he has a bad throw and they
- 1:32:02Speaker 5: have a bad sequence, and you know it hasn't been
- 1:32:05Speaker 5: bad enough yet to really to lose them a game
- 1:32:06Speaker 5: since September.
- 1:32:07Speaker 3: So you know, Darius and Louisville rights in. He's a
- 1:32:12Speaker 3: small sea concern, he says. I understand they haven't needed
- 1:32:16Speaker 3: to put points on the board, but it would be
- 1:32:18Speaker 3: awesome to see Drake Drake may may see Drake Drake
- 1:32:23Speaker 3: may may put up some big numbers. It would also
- 1:32:27Speaker 3: benefit him for the MVP candidacy. I don't care about that.
- 1:32:30Speaker 3: When you have Josh Allen putting up six touchdowns and
- 1:32:33Speaker 3: other stuff, it just looks better for MVP. While we
- 1:32:36Speaker 3: are letting up because we can. We can. The Bills
- 1:32:39Speaker 3: are putting their foot on the oponent's next. Just my opinion.
- 1:32:42Speaker 5: Yeah, I mean I would say the Bills, you know,
- 1:32:44Speaker 5: needed that they were in a game before Josh Allen
- 1:32:46Speaker 5: pulled away. But I get the point. That's why I
- 1:32:48Speaker 5: brought it up yesterday, is that this is the time
- 1:32:51Speaker 5: of year when MVPs need to do MVP things. And
- 1:32:54Speaker 5: you know, it's great to have a great September October,
- 1:32:56Speaker 5: but the guys that really excel in November December, I mean,
- 1:33:00Speaker 5: that's that's this is MVP time and that's what clearly.
- 1:33:03Speaker 2: Josh Allen is aware of.
- 1:33:04Speaker 5: And the offensive coaches in Buffalo are saying, look, screw
- 1:33:08Speaker 5: getting cute.
- 1:33:08Speaker 2: We got a really good quarterback who's a battering ram.
- 1:33:11Speaker 2: Let's let him do it all.
- 1:33:12Speaker 5: But I love to see, you know, It's just it's
- 1:33:14Speaker 5: going to be really exciting to see Drake get into
- 1:33:17Speaker 5: a big game, back and forth, toe to toe, down
- 1:33:20Speaker 5: to the end, you know. And I mean I do
- 1:33:22Speaker 5: have confidence, but it's you know, I'm just not the
- 1:33:23Speaker 5: Tom Brady like.
- 1:33:24Speaker 2: No, he's just awesome.
- 1:33:25Speaker 5: He's gonna, you know, if there's one minute left, he's
- 1:33:27Speaker 5: gonna score a touchdown. I don't know that yet about Drake,
- 1:33:29Speaker 5: but I feel really good about him.
- 1:33:31Speaker 3: Stre Carrie writes in She's from New Hampshire and she
- 1:33:35Speaker 3: says I am a she because we were wondering, okay
- 1:33:37Speaker 3: last time she wrote in, h do you have any
- 1:33:40Speaker 3: updates on Booty and if he has a chance to
- 1:33:42Speaker 3: play this week? Well, was Rabel asked about that?
- 1:33:45Speaker 5: Well, he wasn't today, but he did say I think
- 1:33:47Speaker 5: on on Monday that that Booty be out there today.
- 1:33:50Speaker 5: So we'll get a full practice report from from Evan
- 1:33:52Speaker 5: once he gets back from Well, I guess not here
- 1:33:54Speaker 5: on the show, but later today we'll see who's out there.
- 1:33:57Speaker 2: But yeah, I got an eye out for all those guys.
- 1:33:59Speaker 5: You heard very able say, get Stevenson out there, see
- 1:34:02Speaker 5: how he feels and be it'd just be great to
- 1:34:04Speaker 5: get him back. I think that's an element that they
- 1:34:06Speaker 5: that they really need.
- 1:34:08Speaker 3: Yeah, Hooper too, Hoop. I mean he's coming, He's come
- 1:34:11Speaker 3: up big in some moments they all, you know, being
- 1:34:14Speaker 3: full strength offensively down the stretch would be really key.
- 1:34:20Speaker 5: And then you know they've had really good injury luck
- 1:34:22Speaker 5: generally speaking, and mil Williams.
- 1:34:24Speaker 2: Is the first really big blow. But this is what
- 1:34:27Speaker 2: every team goes through. You got to handle it.
- 1:34:29Speaker 3: Chris writes, saying, why does Josh McDaniels refuse to use
- 1:34:33Speaker 3: Kyle Williams Correctly, he should be running slants, cross or screens,
- 1:34:37Speaker 3: et cetera, and use his yards after catchability. Joking of course,
- 1:34:40Speaker 3: but excited to hear what.
- 1:34:43Speaker 2: Yeah, just it.
- 1:34:44Speaker 5: Hasn't as Paul and I mean, we looked at it
- 1:34:46Speaker 5: a couple of times in the game on Thursday night,
- 1:34:48Speaker 5: you know, look at each other like it just doesn't
- 1:34:50Speaker 5: look right.
- 1:34:50Speaker 2: It doesn't, you know, you can tell.
- 1:34:52Speaker 5: That's another thing I'm getting a sense of as you
- 1:34:54Speaker 5: kind of watch it more and more in practice, is
- 1:34:55Speaker 5: like I think Mike Vrabel said it this summer, quarterbacks
- 1:34:58Speaker 5: will let you know what receivers like, that's who they
- 1:35:00Speaker 5: throw the ball to the most. And sometimes, you know,
- 1:35:03Speaker 5: Williams has happened a bunch of times where it's over
- 1:35:05Speaker 5: the wrong shoulder, it's a little to the left, he
- 1:35:07Speaker 5: stops here. They just haven't seemed to get that chemistry yet.
- 1:35:11Speaker 5: And I wonder if it's just because Kyle Williams is
- 1:35:14Speaker 5: down the depth chart a little bit. He hasn't been
- 1:35:15Speaker 5: getting a lot of reps with Drake. We didn't see
- 1:35:17Speaker 5: a ton of him this summer, and that's okay, Like
- 1:35:20Speaker 5: I'm not going to rule him out, but no question,
- 1:35:23Speaker 5: he's got some explosive to this.
- 1:35:24Speaker 2: They could use something.
- 1:35:26Speaker 5: Something's not clicking well in the season where let's everything's
- 1:35:31Speaker 5: kind of click with the Josh offense this year, with
- 1:35:33Speaker 5: Drake understanding it, with you know, Boody coming on, with
- 1:35:35Speaker 5: with Digs slipping right in and knowing exactly where to
- 1:35:38Speaker 5: be and what to do in the key moments. And
- 1:35:40Speaker 5: you know, but I just I continue to hold out
- 1:35:42Speaker 5: hope for Kyle Williams.
- 1:35:43Speaker 3: You know it's got the ability, but I mentally he's
- 1:35:47Speaker 3: got to get it to you.
- 1:35:48Speaker 5: Yes, that's what That's what you just wonder is is
- 1:35:49Speaker 5: he not quite grasping exactly, you know, the subtleties of
- 1:35:53Speaker 5: being a wide receiver in the NFL and how every
- 1:35:55Speaker 5: step counts and every inch counts, and you know he's going.
- 1:35:58Speaker 2: To put the ball here, don't be over there, you
- 1:36:00Speaker 2: know those kind of things.
- 1:36:01Speaker 3: I mean, there's a lot of if then in Josh
- 1:36:02Speaker 3: McDaniel's offense, if this happens, then you do this and
- 1:36:06Speaker 3: you have to be mentally aware. It's not just simply
- 1:36:09Speaker 3: ten yards and cut in.
- 1:36:10Speaker 2: Yeah, I look at it.
- 1:36:11Speaker 5: I think a little bit about Malcolm Mitchell, who's similar
- 1:36:14Speaker 5: outside receiver that you saw come in and he just
- 1:36:17Speaker 5: seemed to get it. I mean in that Super Bowl,
- 1:36:19Speaker 5: he caught a bunch of passes. You know, you could
- 1:36:21Speaker 5: tell Brady had the trust for him. He was in
- 1:36:23Speaker 5: the right spot. So you know, he's one that that
- 1:36:25Speaker 5: it clicked for. But but I mean it was kind
- 1:36:27Speaker 5: of late for him too, So I haven't ruled it
- 1:36:29Speaker 5: out yet. I think they need that, they need that
- 1:36:31Speaker 5: element of him, and it's also just got a fantastic personality.
- 1:36:35Speaker 3: I still my ja just still in the ground when
- 1:36:37Speaker 3: I saw him catch that ball and just hammered down.
- 1:36:40Speaker 3: Oh my god. Bub buy zero to sixty. Anthony from
- 1:36:45Speaker 3: Toledo love the show listening since twenty twenty one. Maybe
- 1:36:50Speaker 3: I'll call in someday. Go ahead, please, random question, what
- 1:36:53Speaker 3: do you think of us using Drake May's locker room
- 1:36:56Speaker 3: chant as our fan chant? The Eagles have one and
- 1:36:59Speaker 3: the Jets have one, why not us? The chant is
- 1:37:02Speaker 3: pats on me, pats on three one two three, pets.
- 1:37:05Speaker 2: Pats on men.
- 1:37:06Speaker 3: I haven't heard that yet, that's what he says, pets
- 1:37:09Speaker 3: On me, pets On three one two three. I mean
- 1:37:11Speaker 3: that's good. What about the one Diggs is doing, the
- 1:37:15Speaker 3: uh we all we got, we all we need.
- 1:37:17Speaker 2: Yeah, it seems like they've kind of rallied around.
- 1:37:19Speaker 3: I like that one because it's a it's a question
- 1:37:21Speaker 3: and answer or not a question, but.
- 1:37:23Speaker 2: Call and response, call and response, thank you right right.
- 1:37:26Speaker 2: You know you could do it in the whole stadium too.
- 1:37:28Speaker 3: Yeah, the whole stadium could be doing we always got
- 1:37:30Speaker 3: and and And it kind of lines up with you know,
- 1:37:33Speaker 3: Patriots fans you know, uh, thinking of themselves, like you know,
- 1:37:38Speaker 3: it's everybody against us, they all hate us. We don't need.
- 1:37:41Speaker 1: Them, you know.
- 1:37:43Speaker 3: I like it. Yeah, we all we got, we all
- 1:37:45Speaker 3: we need.
- 1:37:45Speaker 2: Yeah. I got Paul with a good one.
- 1:37:47Speaker 6: We did.
- 1:37:47Speaker 11: Uh.
- 1:37:48Speaker 5: We were shooting PU one TV and we always do
- 1:37:50Speaker 5: a little debate segment and we had to talk about
- 1:37:52Speaker 5: their lack of inactivity at the trade deadline, and I
- 1:37:54Speaker 5: was like say with me, Paul, we all we got,
- 1:37:56Speaker 5: we all we need.
- 1:37:57Speaker 6: Uh.
- 1:37:58Speaker 5: But now it's a good it's a it's a good
- 1:38:00Speaker 5: little slogan that Diggs has come up with and people
- 1:38:02Speaker 5: continue to like where did you get it?
- 1:38:03Speaker 2: He's like, I don't know.
- 1:38:04Speaker 3: I think maybe other teams have used it in the past,
- 1:38:06Speaker 3: but it's ours now. Yeah, we're gonna we're gonna take it.
- 1:38:11Speaker 2: We're gonna copyright Nowreymark.
- 1:38:13Speaker 3: David, Wisconsin. With regards to the first possession defense, do
- 1:38:18Speaker 3: you think there's a method to the madness. I'm wondering
- 1:38:20Speaker 3: if Rabel is almost baiting teams to take the ball first,
- 1:38:23Speaker 3: knowing that they always let up a score on that
- 1:38:25Speaker 3: first possession because he wants to double dip at the
- 1:38:28Speaker 3: end of the half in beginning of the third quarter.
- 1:38:30Speaker 3: You think that's at all possible.
- 1:38:33Speaker 2: No, I mean, I think that's funny. It's a good joke.
- 1:38:37Speaker 5: But was asked about it on Monday and said he
- 1:38:39Speaker 5: had I think he had four third downs on that drive,
- 1:38:42Speaker 5: Like yeah, just.
- 1:38:42Speaker 2: Just get to stop.
- 1:38:43Speaker 3: Just got to get off the field, get off the field.
- 1:38:45Speaker 5: But it is hilarious, and I mean over the last
- 1:38:48Speaker 5: like two three weeks, I'm just I don't even flinch anymore,
- 1:38:50Speaker 5: Like I would be so frustrated, you know, like again,
- 1:38:52Speaker 5: here we go and now it happens, and I'm like, yep,
- 1:38:54Speaker 5: there it.
- 1:38:54Speaker 2: Is Okay, there, they're gonna be putting the next four
- 1:38:57Speaker 2: or five times.
- 1:38:57Speaker 5: But I mean, but as we get in to games
- 1:39:00Speaker 5: where every possession matters, they've got to they've got to
- 1:39:04Speaker 5: be better.
- 1:39:04Speaker 3: Yeah, Franklin and Baltimore. I partially agree that the increased
- 1:39:09Speaker 3: starting position starting field position with the new kickoff rule
- 1:39:13Speaker 3: has played some role in a decreased passing yardage across
- 1:39:16Speaker 3: the league. But I think the bigger factor is that
- 1:39:19Speaker 3: we're leaving what was quite possibly the best generation of
- 1:39:22Speaker 3: passers in history. When you have a prime Brady Peyton, Breeze, Rogers, Rivers,
- 1:39:26Speaker 3: luck for Time and Stafford all playing at the same time,
- 1:39:30Speaker 3: of course, that's going to skew the numbers in favor
- 1:39:33Speaker 3: of prolific passing attacks.
- 1:39:35Speaker 2: That's a great point. That's a great point.
- 1:39:36Speaker 5: I mean really felt like that, you know, twenty twenty,
- 1:39:38Speaker 5: twenty twenty one, you moved on from that era of
- 1:39:41Speaker 5: Brady Roethlisberger, Rivers, Peyton Man, you know, that little five
- 1:39:44Speaker 5: year stretch. But I think that's a that's a good
- 1:39:47Speaker 5: that's a good point. I mean, it's all, you know,
- 1:39:48Speaker 5: it all kind of adds into it. There's all kinds
- 1:39:50Speaker 5: of factors with it, but yeah, like it.
- 1:39:53Speaker 3: It'll probably next year it'll be you know, they'll be
- 1:39:57Speaker 3: passing all over the place.
- 1:39:58Speaker 5: Well, you know, Jayden Daniels comes back and he has
- 1:40:00Speaker 5: some you know, passing yards. Caleb Williams continues to develop
- 1:40:03Speaker 5: Drake Obviously, this I just I think it's a great
- 1:40:06Speaker 5: thing for the league whenever these young quarterbacks can develop.
- 1:40:08Speaker 5: I just I don't root individually four teams, and I
- 1:40:11Speaker 5: always want the Patriots to win. But at the same time,
- 1:40:13Speaker 5: when you see an organization doing it right, developing talent,
- 1:40:17Speaker 5: finding really you know, good quarterbacks or you know, even
- 1:40:20Speaker 5: saving guys from the scrap heap, like Sam Donald and
- 1:40:22Speaker 5: Baker Mayfield, it's just it's great for the league. You
- 1:40:25Speaker 5: need as many good quarterbacks as you can have. I mean,
- 1:40:27Speaker 5: in a perfect way, you have thirty two of them.
- 1:40:28Speaker 5: It's never going to work out that way, but yeah,
- 1:40:31Speaker 5: we'll see next year if it bounces back.
- 1:40:33Speaker 3: Ally's bond from Connecticut rights in. He says, they had
- 1:40:37Speaker 3: a thought this morning, oh, one that I could see
- 1:40:40Speaker 3: happening that could benefit the future years. Let's say the
- 1:40:43Speaker 3: Patriots go far in the playoffs, maybe even win a
- 1:40:45Speaker 3: Super Bowl this year. Trying not to get ahead of myself,
- 1:40:48Speaker 3: but it's becoming real. What I would love to see
- 1:40:51Speaker 3: happen is let's be aggressive and trade up in the
- 1:40:54Speaker 3: first round of the draft for the offense. Let's face it,
- 1:40:57Speaker 3: we don't have a long term right tackle or center.
- 1:41:00Speaker 3: With an aging Digs, we could even snag a wide receiver.
- 1:41:03Speaker 3: I know it's a defensive class, but I think we
- 1:41:05Speaker 3: need to strike and continue to become an aggressive football team.
- 1:41:08Speaker 3: On another note, I think Drake throws four touchdowns and
- 1:41:12Speaker 3: three hundred and twenty nine yards for the first time
- 1:41:14Speaker 3: in his career Sunday.
- 1:41:16Speaker 2: Okay, it's a great question.
- 1:41:18Speaker 3: Straight up, get aggressive and go offense in this draft.
- 1:41:21Speaker 5: I mean it sounds, you know, fine in theory. You
- 1:41:23Speaker 5: got to have the actual like nip put a name
- 1:41:25Speaker 5: to the player, I think as Adam as Evan likes
- 1:41:28Speaker 5: to say.
- 1:41:28Speaker 2: But it's a good question. I wish the group was
- 1:41:31Speaker 2: here because how would you approach the offseason at wide receiver?
- 1:41:34Speaker 5: You know, as all these guys are going to come back,
- 1:41:36Speaker 5: are you you know who are you trying to upgrade
- 1:41:38Speaker 5: or replace?
- 1:41:39Speaker 2: Are you you know?
- 1:41:40Speaker 5: Are you trying to upgrade or replace Kaisham Boudi? Who's
- 1:41:42Speaker 5: you know, continues to get better every single year who's
- 1:41:45Speaker 5: on a rookie contract has another year on a rookie contract.
- 1:41:47Speaker 2: You know, are you I mean, you have.
- 1:41:49Speaker 5: To think to the future and you can't, you know,
- 1:41:51Speaker 5: imagine Stefan Diggs is gonna play forever. At some point,
- 1:41:53Speaker 5: You're going to have to develop a guy that can
- 1:41:56Speaker 5: have that kind of chemistry with Drake on the guy
- 1:41:57Speaker 5: to have a moments. But it's it's no easy thing
- 1:42:01Speaker 5: to you know, if you go out and you sign
- 1:42:02Speaker 5: a high price price wide receiver, you draft the first
- 1:42:04Speaker 5: pick like it's going to come at the expense of
- 1:42:06Speaker 5: one of these guys. And I'm not saying that there
- 1:42:07Speaker 5: aren't better players potentially available than some of the guys
- 1:42:10Speaker 5: on the roster, but right now it's all kind of
- 1:42:13Speaker 5: clicking and you're seeing how it all feeds into each other.
- 1:42:15Speaker 5: Who are you targeting to get rid of? Who would
- 1:42:18Speaker 5: you you know, what spot would you be looking to upgrade?
- 1:42:20Speaker 5: I mean, or you're gonna do it a Kyle Williams
- 1:42:22Speaker 5: expense to another guy who's going to come back in
- 1:42:24Speaker 5: year two that you hope has an offseason with Drake
- 1:42:26Speaker 5: and you know, has a better understanding the offense and
- 1:42:29Speaker 5: maybe a little bit more chemistry.
- 1:42:30Speaker 2: So it's just it's an interesting position.
- 1:42:32Speaker 5: I know everybody's desperate for wide receivers, and it makes
- 1:42:34Speaker 5: sense to always try to keep.
- 1:42:36Speaker 2: Targeting great players.
- 1:42:37Speaker 5: But at the same time, this is a kind of
- 1:42:39Speaker 5: tough answers, you know, tough, tough, tough way to figure
- 1:42:41Speaker 5: it out.
- 1:42:42Speaker 3: Todd's in North Carolina. What's up, Todd?
- 1:42:46Speaker 23: Hey, guys, big conversation with just two of you going on.
- 1:42:50Speaker 2: No thanks Tod.
- 1:42:51Speaker 3: Now three of us got two takes for.
- 1:42:53Speaker 13: You, guys.
- 1:42:54Speaker 23: My first point is I agree with Evan. I think
- 1:42:57Speaker 23: the goal posts need to be moved. I think that's
- 1:43:00Speaker 23: due to Drake May and of course Mike Rabell. I
- 1:43:03Speaker 23: think they've made it well. And let's put McDaniel's in
- 1:43:05Speaker 23: there too, because they've they've done it, they've worked it out,
- 1:43:08Speaker 23: they've got a formula there. I think we need to
- 1:43:10Speaker 23: I think we need to win at least one playoff
- 1:43:12Speaker 23: game this year to be count the sixth year as
- 1:43:15Speaker 23: a success. And my second point is with Williams. I
- 1:43:19Speaker 23: feel like he to me, he looks like Booty. When
- 1:43:22Speaker 23: Booty was first year as a rookie, Booty just would
- 1:43:24Speaker 23: get lost on a rout. He just didn't know it.
- 1:43:26Speaker 23: He didn't get it. And maybe some guys that takes
- 1:43:29Speaker 23: the year or to get into it. I think Booty's
- 1:43:32Speaker 23: what in his third year now, yeah, yeah, yeah, so
- 1:43:36Speaker 23: maybe it takes a lot because Booty, like his first year.
- 1:43:38Speaker 23: You wouldn't put him out there and be dependent on
- 1:43:40Speaker 23: him for anything, would you.
- 1:43:42Speaker 3: No, No, He's He's an amazing turnaround for Booty, and
- 1:43:46Speaker 3: I think a lot of it was growing up a
- 1:43:48Speaker 3: little bit.
- 1:43:48Speaker 2: Yeah, and he admits that's what he said too.
- 1:43:50Speaker 23: Yeah, So maybe we need to wait for Williams and
- 1:43:53Speaker 23: get him to do something similar. So those are my
- 1:43:55Speaker 23: two thoughts. I'll let you guys talk creat you guys,
- 1:43:57Speaker 23: all right.
- 1:43:57Speaker 3: Thanks tot.
- 1:43:58Speaker 5: I know you guys have you If they don't bite
- 1:43:59Speaker 5: his puppies, they're not going to debite his dogs. But
- 1:44:01Speaker 5: I still think you can have a guy bounce back
- 1:44:05Speaker 5: after a subpar rookie year, especially when he's not getting
- 1:44:08Speaker 5: a lot of opportunities.
- 1:44:10Speaker 2: But with Kyle Williams' speed, that's just continues to intrigue me.
- 1:44:13Speaker 5: And as I've said many times before, I think it's
- 1:44:15Speaker 5: an element that this offense misses a little bit.
- 1:44:17Speaker 2: With their receives.
- 1:44:18Speaker 3: And it's not like he's dropping balls. It's that he's
- 1:44:21Speaker 3: not in the right place.
- 1:44:22Speaker 2: It just doesn't look right, like that's what me and
- 1:44:23Speaker 2: Paulky say. Just doesn't look right. It doesn't like, you know.
- 1:44:26Speaker 5: And otherwise you see Drake putting the ball like you know,
- 1:44:28Speaker 5: pinpoint accuracy into a guy's hands. And then when he's
- 1:44:31Speaker 5: starting to Kyle Williams, it's like over here, I mean,
- 1:44:33Speaker 5: it's not Drake's accuracy. They're clearly just isn't that chemistry yet?
- 1:44:37Speaker 5: And hopefully when we see you know, this offseason, oh,
- 1:44:40Speaker 5: Drake and everybody's down in Georgia, you know, pontooning or whatever.
- 1:44:43Speaker 5: You know, you see Kyle Williams there and he's you know,
- 1:44:45Speaker 5: helping him and running plays and getting in the playbook.
- 1:44:48Speaker 3: Robert and Portland, Maine right sin. Everyone keeps repeating that
- 1:44:54Speaker 3: the Patriots are only good because of our week's schedule,
- 1:44:57Speaker 3: but no one acknowledges that the Patriots are supposed to
- 1:45:00Speaker 3: be one of those weak teams on the schedule. Paul
- 1:45:03Speaker 3: said himself when the season started that the Patriots should
- 1:45:07Speaker 3: win most of the games early in their lineup, but
- 1:45:09Speaker 3: he estimated they would lose fifty percent of them, that's
- 1:45:12Speaker 3: just how the statistics work. Then we won them instead.
- 1:45:16Speaker 3: If the Patriots were only winning because of their schedule,
- 1:45:19Speaker 3: we'd be losing half of our games right now. Also,
- 1:45:22Speaker 3: I didn't hear anyone acknowledged Josh Allen saying that the
- 1:45:25Speaker 3: Patriots were a lot better team than their record showed
- 1:45:28Speaker 3: during his press conference after our loss in Buffalo in
- 1:45:31Speaker 3: December last year. My question to you, how different do
- 1:45:34Speaker 3: you think our record would have been last season if
- 1:45:37Speaker 3: Rabel and McDaniels were coaching.
- 1:45:40Speaker 2: Oh geez, that's a good question. It is a good question.
- 1:45:43Speaker 5: I mean a lot to a lot of threads, you know,
- 1:45:46Speaker 5: to on pull, but I know it as was it Drake?
- 1:45:49Speaker 2: Rookie Drake?
- 1:45:50Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 1:45:50Speaker 2: And he started on the get go?
- 1:45:51Speaker 3: Yeah. First of all, I would assume if Rabel was
- 1:45:55Speaker 3: the coach in the offseason last year, he would have
- 1:45:57Speaker 3: started Drake. May I think I think everybody on the
- 1:46:01Speaker 3: show at the gate, I think we all just thought
- 1:46:04Speaker 3: that Rake should start, not Jacoby Brissette. Right, I can't
- 1:46:08Speaker 3: remember I think I did.
- 1:46:09Speaker 2: I don't think I did.
- 1:46:10Speaker 5: I think I was okay, getting getting our feet wet
- 1:46:12Speaker 5: with Jacoby a little bit I think.
- 1:46:14Speaker 3: I I mean, I wasn't like, you know, ranting and raving.
- 1:46:17Speaker 3: But if I had my choice, I would have started
- 1:46:19Speaker 3: Drake May.
- 1:46:20Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:46:20Speaker 5: I mean, you know, you know, looking at the schedule,
- 1:46:22Speaker 5: I mean at San Francisco, Houston was tough last year,
- 1:46:27Speaker 5: but you could have beat the Jaguars, the Titans, I mean,
- 1:46:29Speaker 5: the Jets.
- 1:46:32Speaker 3: I don't know, but they would have won more than
- 1:46:34Speaker 3: four games. Yeah, let's put it that way.
- 1:46:36Speaker 5: I mean, Indy, I mean there were some there were
- 1:46:37Speaker 5: definitely there were some easy schedule games last year.
- 1:46:40Speaker 7: They know.
- 1:46:40Speaker 2: Plus you didn't play Buffalo until but.
- 1:46:42Speaker 5: Twice in the last three weeks, which is just bizarre.
- 1:46:45Speaker 5: But yeah, I don't know, it's I mean, it's just
- 1:46:47Speaker 5: tough to say. With the quarterback is.
- 1:46:49Speaker 2: The biggest situation for me.
- 1:46:50Speaker 3: Oh oh boy, Hello, I feel like we should have
- 1:46:53Speaker 3: some entrance music out.
- 1:46:55Speaker 2: Look, who's back from the locker room?
- 1:47:00Speaker 3: Alex is here? Hi Alex?
- 1:47:02Speaker 2: Sorry you need a song? We don't know, I don't know.
- 1:47:04Speaker 3: You tell us where are you coming from the locker room?
- 1:47:07Speaker 22: And so where do we start? Diggs, Scrum, Evan Cam,
- 1:47:13Speaker 22: you know, the drill, Eft and Chisholm and Garrett Bradbury today.
- 1:47:17Speaker 2: Yeah, it was. He was very excited.
- 1:47:21Speaker 22: Yeah, And I saw him talking to Fton and I
- 1:47:23Speaker 22: was like, is he actually going to be talking about
- 1:47:26Speaker 22: like this community.
- 1:47:27Speaker 2: Angle or.
- 1:47:29Speaker 21: That he wasn't asking about that stuff.
- 1:47:32Speaker 22: But I definitely only heard football, but that's all I
- 1:47:34Speaker 22: could overhear a couple of lockers down.
- 1:47:38Speaker 5: Yeah, great, let's talk about your would you talk to
- 1:47:41Speaker 5: the lock I figured.
- 1:47:42Speaker 22: I would go into the digs scrum because we didn't
- 1:47:44Speaker 22: really have anyone over there.
- 1:47:46Speaker 21: So it was actually like kind of a loaded one.
- 1:47:49Speaker 21: Nobody no one farted that I know, at least not
- 1:47:52Speaker 21: on my side.
- 1:47:53Speaker 3: Thing but told us I don't know, you don't know,
- 1:47:58Speaker 3: was no, do you have it narrowed down to like
- 1:48:01Speaker 3: five people?
- 1:48:02Speaker 2: Maybe? I don't even want to, Like.
- 1:48:05Speaker 21: You have people's arms coming out of you from either end.
- 1:48:08Speaker 5: I mean, the girl farts smell different than boyfart's, depends
- 1:48:13Speaker 5: what like if it's kind of fruity or you're like that,
- 1:48:16Speaker 5: probably a girl fart.
- 1:48:18Speaker 2: It was a little fruity.
- 1:48:20Speaker 3: The soul for ones, Okay, all right, okay, anyways, interesting
- 1:48:27Speaker 3: stuff out of the Digs one.
- 1:48:29Speaker 22: He said that he was kind of asked if Drake
- 1:48:31Speaker 22: was like a big lure him for him to come here,
- 1:48:33Speaker 22: because that's what Rabel said on the Thursday Night Football Show,
- 1:48:36Speaker 22: and he said it was kind of like a conglomerate
- 1:48:39Speaker 22: between McDaniel's rabels, Drake, and Todd Downing, who he has
- 1:48:42Speaker 22: a relationship with.
- 1:48:44Speaker 21: Going back to Minnesota.
- 1:48:45Speaker 22: He talked about how he seemed he feels like he's
- 1:48:48Speaker 22: like studying more film than ever before with a receivers coach.
- 1:48:52Speaker 22: From I hope I'm not miss quoting him. It's hard
- 1:48:54Speaker 22: to hear, but from like a quarterbacks perspective. And then
- 1:48:57Speaker 22: the really interesting one was talking about how Drake throws
- 1:49:01Speaker 22: a really catchable ball and it kind of has like
- 1:49:03Speaker 22: a basketball touch on it. And then he sneaks in
- 1:49:06Speaker 22: that he had a broken finger a couple of weeks ago,
- 1:49:09Speaker 22: so he told Drake he really appreciates how he throws
- 1:49:12Speaker 22: the ball.
- 1:49:13Speaker 2: I think it was roch.
- 1:49:14Speaker 21: She was like, wait, let's go back to that. You
- 1:49:16Speaker 21: broke your finger a couple of weeks ago.
- 1:49:18Speaker 22: And stuff was like, yeah, don't worry about it, And
- 1:49:20Speaker 22: I'm not worried about it, so you don't have to.
- 1:49:22Speaker 2: Like I'm guessing he probably is still broken. It was
- 1:49:25Speaker 2: just a couple of weeks ago.
- 1:49:25Speaker 5: That's fine now thought wow, because it's continuing to impress
- 1:49:30Speaker 5: me with toughness.
- 1:49:31Speaker 3: And yeah all, I mean that's been a really great
- 1:49:35Speaker 3: development this year. Is not just Digs, you know, playing well,
- 1:49:39Speaker 3: but the leadership. Yeah yeah, I mean that's the influence
- 1:49:43Speaker 3: he's had over a wide receiver room last year that
- 1:49:47Speaker 3: was in shambles. Yeah.
- 1:49:48Speaker 2: Him and Hollins too. I just think I always mentioned
- 1:49:50Speaker 2: both those guys. I think they're kind of a good
- 1:49:53Speaker 2: twosome to you know.
- 1:49:54Speaker 5: I mean, Hollins talks a lot about him and Chisholm
- 1:49:56Speaker 5: have this funny relationship. But you know as firsthand, I
- 1:50:00Speaker 5: mean the every Wednesday Digs ready to go. You know,
- 1:50:03Speaker 5: people walk in the locker room, He's standing there ready
- 1:50:05Speaker 5: and you know, saying all the right things. And you know,
- 1:50:08Speaker 5: I just am so impressed with the player that he is.
- 1:50:10Speaker 5: When you I mean, we saw him when he was
- 1:50:12Speaker 5: a buffalo, and he would you'd see that you know,
- 1:50:14Speaker 5: four or five, six, seven, eight catches he would have
- 1:50:16Speaker 5: against you. But when you watch him week in and
- 1:50:18Speaker 5: week out, and you see the little things that he
- 1:50:21Speaker 5: does and the little moments and the little extra yards
- 1:50:24Speaker 5: that he gets here and there, or the got to
- 1:50:25Speaker 5: have it moment when you it's gonna probably go to Diggs,
- 1:50:28Speaker 5: and they still go to Digs, just like Josh Allen did.
- 1:50:30Speaker 3: Uh.
- 1:50:31Speaker 2: He's he's a he's a really remarkable player.
- 1:50:33Speaker 5: And it's you know, not all these guys, like superstars
- 1:50:36Speaker 5: don't always have like the biggest size and the fastest speed.
- 1:50:39Speaker 5: Like you wouldn't really think Stefan Diggs is all that
- 1:50:42Speaker 5: remarkable just standing there. But the way that he tempos
- 1:50:45Speaker 5: his routes and the he kind of runs like you
- 1:50:47Speaker 5: can't get a beat on his speed. He is a
- 1:50:49Speaker 5: master route meet, you know, master meet and it shows
- 1:50:52Speaker 5: like the craft of it. It's not just yeah, just
- 1:50:55Speaker 5: run fast and get open and catch the ball. There
- 1:50:56Speaker 5: is you know, real thought that goes into it. And
- 1:50:59Speaker 5: he's he's among the best in the league today of
- 1:51:01Speaker 5: being able to get open and you know, find space
- 1:51:04Speaker 5: and make catches and keep the ball, keep the.
- 1:51:06Speaker 3: Change of mean he's great with may imagine him with
- 1:51:10Speaker 3: Tom Brady. I mean, I go back to Randy Moss.
- 1:51:14Speaker 3: You know, Randy Moss had a high, high football IQ
- 1:51:17Speaker 3: and that's why right away he blended well with Brady
- 1:51:22Speaker 3: because they were just on the same page from day one.
- 1:51:25Speaker 3: And you know, Diggs is is much the same. He's
- 1:51:28Speaker 3: got a high football IQ.
- 1:51:30Speaker 5: He's bringing the best out of you know, everybody around him.
- 1:51:33Speaker 5: And yeah, I say, you know, he's such a like
- 1:51:36Speaker 5: I said, m VP offensive MVP after Drake.
- 1:51:38Speaker 2: You know, he's just he's he's been huge.
- 1:51:40Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 1:51:41Speaker 3: I put Will Campbell up there too.
- 1:51:42Speaker 2: I thought about him.
- 1:51:44Speaker 5: I mean I thought about him and Moses just because
- 1:51:46Speaker 5: what a disaster of the offensive line was.
- 1:51:47Speaker 2: I mean, he's like, just for the reason alone the
- 1:51:49Speaker 2: last two years ago, all we talked about was like.
- 1:51:52Speaker 5: The offensive line is such a disaster, like you can't
- 1:51:54Speaker 5: do anything, you know, and and and maybe to that
- 1:51:57Speaker 5: point when you talk about last year when they said, oh,
- 1:51:59Speaker 5: if Rabel was the like, is this still the same
- 1:52:01Speaker 5: offensive line from last year?
- 1:52:02Speaker 2: Because fair enough, maybe it wouldn't looked as different.
- 1:52:05Speaker 5: I mean, I think Josh is pretty smart and experienced
- 1:52:07Speaker 5: and would maybe know how to work around that, and
- 1:52:09Speaker 5: maybe with better coaching they could have gotten better play
- 1:52:12Speaker 5: out of.
- 1:52:12Speaker 3: Well that's a good one, because but if a coaching
- 1:52:16Speaker 3: staff was all the same as last year minus Rabel,
- 1:52:19Speaker 3: it may not be that much better because it was
- 1:52:22Speaker 3: a hodgepodge of coaches that Mayo had no history with.
- 1:52:27Speaker 3: You didn't know who they were. They were just trying
- 1:52:29Speaker 3: to cobble it together and it just didn't work. And yes,
- 1:52:33Speaker 3: we can talk about may and Vrabel a lot, but
- 1:52:36Speaker 3: these assistant coaches are another big reason why we're seeing
- 1:52:39Speaker 3: the turnaround we see it.
- 1:52:41Speaker 22: My lunch has been so consistent. I mean last year,
- 1:52:43Speaker 22: how many different variations did they roll out? Like what
- 1:52:47Speaker 22: group went out there? More than three times altogether?
- 1:52:49Speaker 5: Yeah, it was ridiculous, And I mean and it was
- 1:52:52Speaker 5: nice to hear Brabel credit the trio of assistant coaches
- 1:52:56Speaker 5: that are on the offensive line with Robert Kugler and
- 1:53:00Speaker 5: Jason o'tayling haas they call him, and Doug Moron, who
- 1:53:04Speaker 5: it's still like I keep reminding myself like he was
- 1:53:06Speaker 5: a head coach in the league. You forget that your
- 1:53:08Speaker 5: offensive line coach, you know, coach both in Buffalo and
- 1:53:11Speaker 5: and Jacksonville, and you know was in an AFC championship
- 1:53:14Speaker 5: here in Jacksonville.
- 1:53:15Speaker 2: I mean, they just got a lot of experience on the.
- 1:53:17Speaker 3: Alex were you Averbel?
- 1:53:19Speaker 21: I was?
- 1:53:20Speaker 3: Do you know why the line of questioning to start
- 1:53:23Speaker 3: off was all about like you know, his relationship with
- 1:53:27Speaker 3: players and culture and all that stuff. Like is there
- 1:53:30Speaker 3: something going around that people were talking about before the
- 1:53:33Speaker 3: press conference that made them ask those questions?
- 1:53:36Speaker 22: Or I wonder if it's stems from Thursday night in
- 1:53:38Speaker 22: the postgame show with the crew there for Amazon, just
- 1:53:43Speaker 22: kind of talking about how like these guys are like
- 1:53:46Speaker 22: a lot of them his kids age, so it's it's
- 1:53:48Speaker 22: kind of fun to be like coaching them.
- 1:53:50Speaker 21: And I don't know, but I don't know.
- 1:53:52Speaker 22: I think the beginning of the press conference took me
- 1:53:54Speaker 22: thrown off automatically because Karen Grigian has Jerry duty.
- 1:53:58Speaker 3: Oh I could say, R was like.
- 1:54:00Speaker 21: Okay, Karen's not here, looks for Sophie. I think Nicole
- 1:54:03Speaker 21: Yane got the first question today.
- 1:54:05Speaker 2: You were like on deck.
- 1:54:08Speaker 3: So she's still on jury because she was on Monday.
- 1:54:10Speaker 2: Maybe she got on a jury.
- 1:54:11Speaker 3: Maybe yeah, maybe she's a questered.
- 1:54:13Speaker 21: Imagine she's on serving on the Grand Turk or something.
- 1:54:16Speaker 3: You know.
- 1:54:16Speaker 5: Speaking of the Amazon crew, though, Alex keep a holiday
- 1:54:19Speaker 5: card to Paul, and I was kind of disappointed. I
- 1:54:21Speaker 5: did not receive a holiday card.
- 1:54:23Speaker 21: Always, and I printed it out as a joke.
- 1:54:25Speaker 22: You were at your desk and I have one for
- 1:54:27Speaker 22: you too, but you're grinding away and I didn't want
- 1:54:29Speaker 22: to see you.
- 1:54:30Speaker 21: Paul was not at his desk.
- 1:54:31Speaker 5: I was like, this will be you got to describe
- 1:54:33Speaker 5: it college not even at the was it a holiday
- 1:54:35Speaker 5: card of a show what he wrote?
- 1:54:37Speaker 2: You got to talk about it.
- 1:54:39Speaker 22: We've just been having a joke, like I think going
- 1:54:42Speaker 22: back to early last week about like Chris Thompson, how
- 1:54:44Speaker 22: excited we all were to see her.
- 1:54:46Speaker 2: Because some of us for some reasons, right next.
- 1:54:49Speaker 21: To us.
- 1:54:51Speaker 22: For I think more legitimate reason. Right, I had a
- 1:54:54Speaker 22: great moment with Carissa. We talked for a long time
- 1:54:56Speaker 22: after Thursday at football.
- 1:54:58Speaker 21: She followed me back on Instagram. Big deal, A nice message.
- 1:55:03Speaker 22: But I took the photo that we took together, and
- 1:55:05Speaker 22: just to be funny, I like went on Canva and
- 1:55:08Speaker 22: made myself like a Christmas card template and I just
- 1:55:11Speaker 22: said like, Merry Christmas from Alex and her.
- 1:55:13Speaker 21: Close personal friend Chrissa, and put it on Paul's desk.
- 1:55:17Speaker 2: Got a good laugh. I got in there today because.
- 1:55:19Speaker 22: He wasn't in there to see if he did anything
- 1:55:21Speaker 22: with it, it's probably in the trash.
- 1:55:22Speaker 21: It was nowhere to be found.
- 1:55:23Speaker 5: We had a lot of fun with it, like she
- 1:55:24Speaker 5: was getting you know, dressed in like a little corner
- 1:55:27Speaker 5: of where kind of outside of where we sit, and
- 1:55:29Speaker 5: like I to get to Paul's office, I kind of
- 1:55:30Speaker 5: have to walk out, and so I kept making.
- 1:55:32Speaker 3: The joke of like, oh did you get that thing?
- 1:55:35Speaker 6: You know?
- 1:55:35Speaker 3: When I'd walk out, did did you see that?
- 1:55:37Speaker 19: You know?
- 1:55:38Speaker 6: You know?
- 1:55:39Speaker 2: But that was cool. We had a good time.
- 1:55:42Speaker 21: One quick thing from the locker room.
- 1:55:43Speaker 3: I'm surprised they don't have their own makeup thing when
- 1:55:46Speaker 3: they they have to use.
- 1:55:47Speaker 2: They took that up shop they did.
- 1:55:49Speaker 22: It's like a little pop up situation. They had like
- 1:55:51Speaker 22: two director's high top directors shires, They had lighting, and
- 1:55:55Speaker 22: then one to two makeup girls.
- 1:55:57Speaker 3: You should have hopped in there like hey, get some
- 1:56:01Speaker 3: free makeup.
- 1:56:02Speaker 21: No, right, makeup artists don't like that.
- 1:56:04Speaker 22: Like if you, like are in a wedding and you
- 1:56:06Speaker 22: say you don't want your makeup done, and then at
- 1:56:08Speaker 22: the last minute you try to slide in there, They're.
- 1:56:09Speaker 5: Like, no, is it hard though as a girl when
- 1:56:11Speaker 5: you get your makeup done, because you probably have like
- 1:56:13Speaker 5: your regime that you like and then they're going to be.
- 1:56:15Speaker 2: Like, oh, I'm giving you like a shadow or I
- 1:56:18Speaker 2: don't know.
- 1:56:18Speaker 22: What totally, but you're more of like a neutral I or.
- 1:56:24Speaker 5: I was a man of honor and a wedding with
- 1:56:26Speaker 5: my was man of honor and my and my friend
- 1:56:28Speaker 5: Ashley's wedding and they had girls do makeup for all
- 1:56:31Speaker 5: the bridesmaids.
- 1:56:31Speaker 2: And they're like, you want to get your hair done?
- 1:56:33Speaker 2: I'm like, all right, I swear to god, they made
- 1:56:35Speaker 2: me look like I was on the Jersey shore, Like
- 1:56:36Speaker 2: they gave me this like weird haircut. And now, like
- 1:56:39Speaker 2: all the pictures of the wedding.
- 1:56:40Speaker 5: I'm like, what is it like Ronnie doing in They're
- 1:56:42Speaker 5: like reading the you know, reading my speech, Like this
- 1:56:45Speaker 5: does not look right on me at all.
- 1:56:47Speaker 2: It was totally different. Yeah.
- 1:56:49Speaker 22: Quickly though, Ramandre kind of was looking like he was
- 1:56:52Speaker 22: gearing up to go out to practice for sure, based
- 1:56:54Speaker 22: on his outfit. Yeah Hooper, I didn't see, but I
- 1:56:59Speaker 22: wasn't in there the whole time. I saw Christian Ellis
- 1:57:01Speaker 22: heaping up hands.
- 1:57:03Speaker 2: I feel like it's good.
- 1:57:04Speaker 22: Maybe not taping yourself up if you're not going to
- 1:57:06Speaker 22: go out and participate.
- 1:57:08Speaker 3: Be good to get him back. Yeah, I forgot about him.
- 1:57:11Speaker 2: Yeah yeah, yeah, I need some depth he can, he can,
- 1:57:14Speaker 2: he can scoot.
- 1:57:14Speaker 5: I mean, I think it's good against Chase Brown, who
- 1:57:16Speaker 5: Evan mentioned, and the Patriots have kind of struggled against
- 1:57:19Speaker 5: those kind of guys. I mean, I think if I
- 1:57:20Speaker 5: was desperate in a fantasy situation, I might like slip
- 1:57:24Speaker 5: Chase Brown in there just as a wild card, because
- 1:57:26Speaker 5: I mean, if I was Joe Flacco, I would say,
- 1:57:29Speaker 5: we're targeting you short.
- 1:57:30Speaker 2: Try to you know, keep the chains moving. We push
- 1:57:32Speaker 2: the other guys down the field.
- 1:57:33Speaker 3: Yep. All right, Well listen, it's been fun, but it's
- 1:57:38Speaker 3: time to go. But we'll be back tomorrow at noon.
- 1:57:42Speaker 3: It'll be Thursday, so we'll have the full crew for
- 1:57:45Speaker 3: a little bit. We have the picks tomorrow, so we'll
- 1:57:48Speaker 3: have to hurry and we'll be getting that much closer
- 1:57:53Speaker 3: to the Cincinnati Bungles. Let's go, all right, Thanks for listening. Hey,
- 1:57:59Speaker 3: this is out.
- 1:58:00Speaker 21: Thanks for tuning into the show.
- 1:58:01Speaker 24: If you really want to help us, make sure you
- 1:58:03Speaker 24: like us on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, or wherever you get
- 1:58:06Speaker 24: your podcasts. Also, make sure you follow us on the
- 1:58:08Speaker 24: New England Patriots YouTube channel to see this show and
- 1:58:11Speaker 24: everything else we do here at the Patriots.
