Transcript
- 0:00Welcome to World View Matters, discussing controversial issues, discerning current events,
- 0:10defending biblical Christianity.
- 0:13No topic, off limits.
- 0:16And now, here's your host, David Fiorazo.
- 0:19Hey friends, welcome to the podcast.
- 0:22God bless you, brothers and sisters in Christ.
- 0:24I've got an author of a very fascinating book called The Unraveling, The American Fabric
- 0:32Undone.
- 0:33And I can't wait to talk to Dorothy Logan.
- 0:37She has been a professor, a worship leader, a performing musician, an organizational coach.
- 0:44And she's contributed to foreign policy analysis, congressional and court testimony as well
- 0:49as books on foreign policy.
- 0:52In 2020, she realized there were gaps in the prevailing societal perspectives.
- 1:01And she was struck with an urgency to fill those gaps for anyone who would listen.
- 1:06So what did she do?
- 1:07She took action.
- 1:08She founded Freedom Academy with Dorothy to prepare others and to inform others.
- 1:15And she says why Americans should embrace liberty and how to live according to principles
- 1:21instead of as slaves to their passions.
- 1:24We'll talk a little bit more about that as we talk about her book.
- 1:28She is at heart a political philosopher and lover of liberty, praise God.
- 1:34First and foremost, she's a follower of Christ and a daughter of the most high king.
- 1:39That's what we love to hear.
- 1:40Dorothy currently resides in Florida with her husband, Randy and Dorothy Logan.
- 1:46So thank you so much for coming on World View Matters.
- 1:49It's an honor to be here.
- 1:50Thank you for having me.
- 1:52Well, we got a hold of the book and I want to show this the unraveling.
- 1:56This is Jeff, you can bring it up.
- 1:58The website, by the way, is freedom academy dash Dorothy dot com.
- 2:04That's freedom academy dash Dorothy dot com.
- 2:06So let's clarify it is not affiliated with Freedom Project Academy,
- 2:11which is one of the things one of the branches that drives this podcast.
- 2:15But there's forces behind your book and your world view.
- 2:22And I want to just share a quote that you have on your website, your homepage from Ronald Reagan.
- 2:28Freedom is never more than one generation away from extinction.
- 2:33We didn't pass it on to our children in the bloodstream.
- 2:36It must be fought for, protected and handed on for them to do the same.
- 2:43Of course, that's Ronald Reagan.
- 2:44So Dorothy, tell us a little bit about your background and a little bit more detail.
- 2:49What was going on because 2020 seems like and we remember that well.
- 2:54Everything, it was, it was crazy year.
- 2:57It was the year of insanity and delusion.
- 3:00And we were really surprised at a lot of things, including how the church
- 3:04responded to government overreach and other things.
- 3:08So what opened your eyes and what led to the book, the unraveling?
- 3:12And of course, let's start with Freedom Academy first.
- 3:15Well, it's kind of all part and parcel of the same thing.
- 3:18In 2020, I looked around it at how easily we just handed over our freedoms
- 3:23without any regard to why we might do that without questioning what was going on.
- 3:29And so I've had this urgency to do whatever it took to inform as many people as would listen
- 3:35about what freedom is, where it comes from, what the current threats those freedoms are,
- 3:41and what we can do about it if anything.
- 3:44So that's why I founded Freedom Academy with Dorothy.
- 3:47And then out of that actually came a number of webinars.
- 3:51And one of them was called the Unraveling.
- 3:53That was in May of 2022.
- 3:55And it was just, again, I had another urgency to turn that webinar,
- 4:01one hour webinar into a book because maybe that would have even more reach
- 4:05and more people would be able to read it and engage with that material.
- 4:08Because the way the book is set up, the first part, like part one is the fabric, right?
- 4:15So it's a primer on everything that you thought you knew.
- 4:20And I think Americans have lost sight of where our values have come from,
- 4:24what our society is based upon, and how integral all those threats are to not just the present
- 4:33and the way of life now, but to what might be important in the future.
- 4:39So you open up to the prologue.
- 4:41And the first words in the book are, the great American experiment is over.
- 4:47Look around.
- 4:48And then you kind of back it up by saying we are no longer religious and moral people,
- 4:53yet our government is unfit for any other.
- 4:57And that's a paraphrase of a quote by John Adams.
- 5:00So yes, it's been a while, Dorothy, that we've been a religious and moral people.
- 5:07Look at what we export when it comes to pornography and everything.
- 5:10Hollywood and the media, oh my goodness, and go on and on and on.
- 5:15And so it's kind of eye-opening and disheartening at the same time
- 5:21that we have to talk about these things.
- 5:23But what made you start off with was that like to draw people in and attention getters?
- 5:29Let's just share the conclusion right after the bat and then we'll talk about it.
- 5:33Just go ahead and explain.
- 5:35Of course, it's a hook, right?
- 5:37You get the hook in, but it's true.
- 5:39And before you can understand where we are going, you have to know what road we're on.
- 5:45And to know what road we're on, you have to know where we came from.
- 5:47And so there was this great experiment.
- 5:50And it was, can we do something different in this country?
- 5:54Can this new republic based on certain principles and morals and a way of looking at life
- 6:01and a way of looking at the role of government?
- 6:03Can it be done differently and can it be successful?
- 6:06And it was the experiment.
- 6:08And I think the experiment is over because it has failed.
- 6:10I mean, every time, you know, so you have to look at the evidence
- 6:15and see how every single one of the threads that make up our fabric have been pulled apart.
- 6:21And I even talk of another illustration of how they've been scratched at worried away.
- 6:26And yes, there's a wearing over time as well.
- 6:29But if you think of our society as a tapestry full of multiple colors and beautiful picture
- 6:37and it was woven together with such precision.
- 6:42And then for each of those threads to be, yes, time wears them away as with any fabric.
- 6:47But they are also, they've also been intentionally pulled at, scratched at, cut.
- 6:52And then kind of, we're now just a bunch of threads on the floor.
- 6:57It's a pile.
- 6:58It's a very colorful pile of threads, but we no longer can recognize the picture
- 7:04that beautiful tapestry that was that was originally woven together.
- 7:09So section one is the fabric and part two, the two pillars.
- 7:15We're going to talk about that.
- 7:17And part three is unraveled.
- 7:19And then at the end, you get, this is not just, here's what's wrong with the world.
- 7:23You get to what can we do, what Christians do.
- 7:26But I want to go back to, let's talk about something in my notes here.
- 7:30What's your perspective on the nine to zero decision
- 7:36by the Supreme Court that shut down states who wanted to keep President Trump,
- 7:42former President Trump, off their ballots.
- 7:45So I'm talking about, I mean, it's really amazing because didn't I just hear Biden recently say,
- 7:52well, let's just work it out at the ballot box or something like that.
- 7:57Let Americans decide at the ballot box and they're trying to prevent Americans from deciding
- 8:01because some states wanted to get Trump off the ballot.
- 8:03So what was, is your perspective on that?
- 8:06Nine to nothing, that surprised me.
- 8:09Go ahead, your thoughts.
- 8:10So the idea of, of the Supreme Court, right, they're supposed to be politically independent.
- 8:17And honestly, I always say that we're a constitutional federal republic
- 8:21and the only thing left is federalism, right?
- 8:23Essentially, we have, we, the Constitution is in shreds.
- 8:27The, the republic is not representative.
- 8:32People say that just as a representative democracy, do you feel like your representatives
- 8:35are representing you? And, and so that part is gone too, but we still have this republic.
- 8:42However, recently, the Supreme Court has surprised me.
- 8:46I said that they finally woken up, actually, I believe in 2021, where there was all this talk
- 8:51about stacking and packing the court and increasing the number of justices and all that,
- 8:56that they understood their role in the checks and balances system, in those intertwined
- 9:02responsibilities in, in this idea that, oh, wait, we're, that's why I call it conscience of the,
- 9:08of this United States government is the Constitution.
- 9:11And this idea is, wait, this struggle is supposed to be here.
- 9:15We're not supposed to be getting on board with politicizing every single decision.
- 9:20And so you actually saw a number of unified decisions that were surprising.
- 9:25This is one of them, but it also should speak to the American people to bring back legitimacy
- 9:31to the Supreme Court. I think that was one cause for that, one reason that they did that.
- 9:36But also this idea, they want to back up the idea that no, you can't, the elites,
- 9:41the people in power cannot control who else can replace them.
- 9:46Because we have this whole government set upon, they create rules for themselves
- 9:53that promote their own power and prevent other people from challenging that power.
- 9:59And I think that the US Supreme Court in this instance was reestablishing their own legitimacy
- 10:06and also demonstrating the American people that, no, we do still have a conscience at work.
- 10:12So it's actually encouraging to me, starting in 2021, how they started working kind of together to,
- 10:19to reveal that or reestablish that position with the American people.
- 10:23Yeah, even recently Biden put something out there about trying to, you know,
- 10:27do something with the court or whatever and I'm thinking because they're disappointed with some
- 10:31of their decisions and I'm thinking, wow, we've got, okay, talk about disappointment. We've got
- 10:37Roberts and who else is another one that is going back? Is it Kavanaugh or one of the other
- 10:44ones that we thought, well, Roberts, forget it. All right, let's set that aside, Amy Coney Barrett.
- 10:49Yeah, so we've seen a couple of those rule in a way that we wouldn't think they would as
- 10:55Christians or Conservatives were going, what, really? And so, I mean, they were appointed by Trump
- 11:00and we're going, so really there, it seems like maybe they are actually doing what they're supposed
- 11:06to do. It wasn't Thomas Jefferson that said that the court out of the three branches is the least
- 11:12powerful or should be, but that's not in our recent history. That has been the case, right?
- 11:18Well, well, they're the least dangerous, right? Because they can't, they can't enforce their
- 11:22decisions. They can't, they have no power of the gun. They have no power of the purse.
- 11:28But at the same time, we allow them to basically write legislation for us, right? Which is also not
- 11:34supposed to happen. And they're actually, with a lot of these decisions, they're actually taking that,
- 11:40they're, they're walking that back. No, legislation has to be written by legislatures who were
- 11:47duly elected by their constituents. So I'm actually applauding the Supreme Court in that they're the
- 11:55last, they're the last branch of government that might understand what their role is supposed to be.
- 12:01So friends, we're speaking with Dorothy Logan and the book is called The Unraveling. And Dorothy,
- 12:06your first chapter of Republic, if you can keep it, obviously referring to Benjamin Franklin,
- 12:14when the woman comes up to him and says, what have you given us, sir? And he said, a Republic,
- 12:21if you can keep it. So why did you decide to kick things off with that chapter?
- 12:26Like I said, it's kind of a primer on everything you thought you knew. Like, do you, one was the last
- 12:31time you read the Constitution, one was the last time you read these founding documents. There's a
- 12:35lot of primary documents that can speak to what the intents were behind those these important
- 12:41documents that we kind of turned to in as we try to explain things. And I was amazed by how many
- 12:47adults American adults have no idea where what the Constitution says, what the intention of the
- 12:57founders were behind that. So what I just break down essentially what the Republic was intended to be.
- 13:03And then I also go through that and how it's all becoming undone and giving different illustrations
- 13:11to demonstrate that, yes, this was the Republic. And we didn't keep it because this is how it's
- 13:15been violated at every step of the way. Oh, so much more to talk about because I have so many
- 13:21thoughts swirling in my head is there's still time. And from a biblical perspective, if Christians
- 13:26and the church is still here in America, there's hope, you know, until God, Jesus comes back and
- 13:34but you know what, we have let it go so far because we've been too busy with whatever busyness,
- 13:39the American dream, distraction, entertainment. But we've got to take a brief pause where with
- 13:43Dorothy Logan, the book is called the unraveling more on worldview matters in just a minute.

- 14:35Harbinger's daily, for Patriot mobile, Freedom Project Academy. You can also go to just go to the
- 14:41website worldviewmatters.tv. So Dorothy, I wanted to ask you about the recent Republican convention.
- 14:50There's so much going on, so much news came out of that. There's going on right now, you know what I mean?
- 14:55With since the assassination attempt, President Trump and the selection of JD Vance is VP and so
- 15:03many other things. We get our hopes up sometimes and we go, yeah, they're going to go to Washington,
- 15:09they're going to go in, they're going to elect them and they're going to do it, but we found out
- 15:12so many politicians in the past anyway, they get there and they seem like, well, maybe they had
- 15:18good intentions, but they get elected and they realized they couldn't do what they really wanted to
- 15:23do. And there's you, you don't see gridlock in Congress as necessarily bad. So explain that.
- 15:33Well, first of all, let's talk about presidents because presidents make promises and they
- 15:38campaign on those promises and then once they're elected, generally speaking, the president
- 15:43has tried to push user political capital since their election to push things for it. In fact,
- 15:49with President Trump in 2017, I was actually quite impressed because he, one by one, just snap,
- 15:56snap, snap, snap. He was trying to do everything in his power to fulfill the promises he made
- 16:01on the campaign trail. However, when it comes to legislation with the US Congress, the government
- 16:09that governs least governs best, right? So this idea that gridlock is that's part of the tension
- 16:15between what we think we want in the moment and what is actually going to be best for the country
- 16:21in the future. And that's why again, I call that Constitution the conscience of the government
- 16:27because gridlock means we're pausing to debate and think about what the implications might be
- 16:34for passing this legislation. And just be, and unfortunately, the American people don't really
- 16:39pay attention to that process very much because in the end, these politicians, these government
- 16:47officials do whatever it takes to the wheel and deal. They end up being a lot of corruption and
- 16:53trading for favors and to get their little piece of the pie through, right? So it always legislation
- 17:00always empowers someone already in power. And so we have to understand that. So if there's gridlock,
- 17:07that means we're not empowering someone to do to have more power over us at the moment. So I don't
- 17:12see gridlock as a bad thing at all unless they were going to be passing legislation to undo their
- 17:18own power, which does not happen. Yeah, I'm a little more cynical. I think when it comes to gridlock,
- 17:24I'm thinking, man, if there's gridlock, at least the Democrats won't take more ground and unleash more
- 17:30of their demonic agendas and evil on the nation, whatever way they're doing it because we tend,
- 17:36we meaning Christians, conservatives, independent, we tend to compromise. We meaning in DC and Republicans
- 17:43that I'm thinking, man, they'll take whatever we give them. And it doesn't seem like they're
- 17:47compromising and giving up much ground, right? But let's go back or let's go on to the next question.
- 17:55And this is interesting. The left seems to get it when it comes to intimidation, when it comes to
- 18:00protesting, when it comes to being out there in the public PR, even if it's funded by the left,
- 18:06even if it's phony, like George Soros phony, people buy it because that's what the media, the leftist
- 18:12Democrat media reports on. You say that people are obligated to protest if the government breaks the
- 18:19contract and removes rights and curtails liberties. So what does that look like? Obviously that we're
- 18:26not, it doesn't look like the Black Lives Matter global network foundation who murdered or killed
- 18:34almost 20 people over that summer, over a billion dollars in damage in America, and they were
- 18:40funded by China, they were Marxist driven anti-Christian anti-family against the police and law
- 18:46lessness reigned. That's not what you're talking about here. So what do you mean when you say we
- 18:52are obligated to protest? Well, first of all, we are encouraged or I would encourage people to,
- 19:01again, let your voice be heard. We can watch injustice around us. We can watch our freedoms being
- 19:06taken away, but then we say nothing, we say nothing about it. We do nothing about it. There's
- 19:11a lot of different ways to protest. We can petition the government. We can write letters. We can
- 19:16get together in voluntary autonomous organizations that have more power and influence in order to
- 19:23try to influence those are governing officials. And this is the really important thing. We're
- 19:28always so focused on DC when we have the most power locally, right? You have one voice means more
- 19:36in the state than in the nation and it means more in your county than in your state and it means
- 19:41more in your town than in your county, right? So we tend to focus on the big areas when we probably
- 19:46should be focusing on what we can do where we are and what influence can we have in our smallest
- 19:54sphere of influence is kind of let that pay forward principle where if I impact this one life and
- 20:00then it can grow exponentially out from there. That's why there's these grassroots movements.
- 20:05But more than that, a lot of people say so if you take the declaration at preamble and they felt
- 20:10obligated to throw off their government and you can look to some of the founders and say while
- 20:16they meant through elections like since they didn't mean another revolution, right? They meant
- 20:20through elections. And so what we have going on now is we're not really there's no revolution,
- 20:25there's no changing of the guard in elections because that the system is so kind of rigged to keep
- 20:31the people in power who are in power and the same kind of people put the same kind of people into
- 20:36power who are already in power. So you don't see this changing this this turnover of values and
- 20:43understanding that reflect what the American people might want want to have happen. So I think the
- 20:50greatest protest is this is just me talking is to jump outside the narrative and do what is least
- 20:57expected. They are they've crafted a wonderful little world for us in which they believe we know
- 21:04how we're going to act. They believe they know how the the American people are going to act given
- 21:09the certain sense of circumstances. I think they're wrong quite a bit, but in order to jump when
- 21:15we jump outside that narrative, it we're basically giving our protests to the system that they
- 21:21are using as a machine to keep their power going. All right, we've got to move on quickly. You
- 21:28mentioned the two pillars. In fact, that's part two of your book. You talk about these key pillars
- 21:34of civilization. What are these and why are they crucial? So every civilization or society is held
- 21:40up by shared values, shared religion and shared language and they are inextricably linked together,
- 21:48especially in the West and especially in the United States. And so but if you have cracks in one
- 21:54and it starts slipping, it will inevitably take out the other pillar. And so and then the
- 21:59civilization will fall. And and with only a few minutes left, I believe this is so crucial to
- 22:05the Christian experience and to the American experience in that the American was American experience
- 22:10is part of the experiment was we set aside a portion of society and a portion including our own
- 22:17conscience, right? In this idea of separation of of church and state, which they like to talk about
- 22:22that. But what that means is there's a there's a part in our lives that government is not allowed to
- 22:28enter. Government is not allowed to enter. And if we can erode all those shared values based
- 22:34upon Christianity itself that then then of course we can say no the government belongs in every
- 22:43area of our lives. They belong in our they are our our our conscience. They we don't have freedom
- 22:49of conscience. We don't have freedom of thought. And instead without Christianity holding that
- 22:55our society up government has every single right to come in and take over all aspects of our lives
- 23:02even our thoughts and consciences. So I mean I'm looking thinking as you're speaking the subtitle of
- 23:08your book the American fabric undone. And the book of course called the unraveling we are running
- 23:15out of time. But I wanted to get to what Christians conservative is concerned citizens who are
- 23:21seeing this just the insanity the demonic agenda is being implemented and carrying out and
- 23:27people just seem to be blinded by what's happening in our country. Maybe we have not fought to
- 23:32preserve the Republic. But so in the final couple minutes just just just jump to the end. What can
- 23:40we do? How do you encourage people to engage and what does that look like? So the first thing I say
- 23:46is get your children out of public school. That's the first thing you have to happen. But on a more
- 23:53general term we have to understand that the desperation is real. The desperation on the other side.
- 23:58The evil is fighting for its existence. And we don't have that desperation. And so I encourage
- 24:05Christians in in this way. We are we have our identity in Christ. We have nothing to fear. And
- 24:12we live our lives through and of the spirit. And so the desperation that's on the other side we
- 24:18cannot adopt it. We cannot fall for it. We cannot engage in their same kind of conversation and
- 24:23that desperation because we shouldn't have it. We have a hope that that exceeds anything that
- 24:29they could possibly imagine. And we have we and and also this idea that they do believe their
- 24:36existence depends. And so whenever we say something against them they believe that we want to
- 24:42exterminate them. There was one thing else I was going to say and I can't think of it now because
- 24:47my brain goes too fast sometimes. But this the the idea of jumping outside the narrative or
- 24:53or just trying to live by the spirit. We need to start learning to be kind instead of to be
- 25:00right. And we need to start to be curious instead of the need to be right. But oh John 8.
- 25:06Because I tell you the truth you do not believe me. And I think there's a vast portion of society
- 25:13that you say they're blinded. But their father is the father of lies. And because they they don't
- 25:19see the truth that is so obvious because their father is the father of lies. And because we tell
- 25:25the truth they do not believe us. And it doesn't make any sense to us who can see the truth that
- 25:30is so obvious that there's people like can't you just see it. It's just so obvious. But it's because
- 25:36it's obvious because it's true. They don't believe it. Well it's interesting you said I mean we have to
- 25:41go back to the spiritual battle. This is a spiritual battle. There's very real these forces of
- 25:47darkness are very real. We're seeing them on steroids today. But when you said that the left
- 25:53tends to be more desperate. I think what's interesting about that is to them this life is all
- 25:58there is. They only have a limited amount of time. Christians we have the hope thanks to our faith
- 26:04in Jesus Christ of eternal life. And so we can have a piece knowing that insanity is happening
- 26:10all around us. But the problem with that is sometimes that doesn't lead to having a sense of
- 26:16urgency and living out our faith being the salt and light that we are supposed to be your final
- 26:21thoughts Dorothy. Well and that's why I do encourage everyone to do what you're called to do.
- 26:28If God has put a calling on your life go out and do it because like with this book with Freedom
- 26:33Academy I had an urgency. I don't know what for or why but in fulfilling that you're fulfilling
- 26:40the good works that were laid out in advance for you to do. And I think more Christians have to
- 26:44lean into the Holy Spirit lean into their calling and really rely on not their own strength and
- 26:50not their own understanding but a piece that surpasses all understanding because we leave and
