- 0:00Speaker 1: What's gone on.
- 0:00Speaker 2: My name is Row from sunk Loto and we are
- 0:05Speaker 2: playing an Australian tour to support our new single Dead Shadows,
- 0:09Speaker 2: which kicks off August seventh in the Gold Coast and
- 0:13Speaker 2: we're doing Gold Coast, Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne.
- 0:18Speaker 1: We've only got Gold.
- 0:20Speaker 2: Coast and the first Brisbane show remaining for tickets as
- 0:24Speaker 2: everything else is sold out, so if you want to
- 0:27Speaker 2: come along, they're your two options.
- 0:30Speaker 3: You were easy mate, Thanks for joining us tonight.
- 0:34Speaker 1: Happy to be here you.
- 0:36Speaker 3: Sabo sunk Glado are about to kick off an intimate
- 0:38Speaker 3: runner dates at the Call and get a hotel on
- 0:40Speaker 3: August of seventh and he got pro Bar Brisbane, twice
- 0:43Speaker 3: pro Bar Sydney and finish up at the Corner Hotel
- 0:46Speaker 3: in Melbourne. So it's a nice shortened sweet running this time.
- 0:49Speaker 1: Yeah it is.
- 0:51Speaker 2: Yeah, we've been we haven't been active on the road
- 0:55Speaker 2: for a few years now, so it's exciting to get
- 0:57Speaker 2: back and we've got some new tunes coming with it
- 1:00Speaker 2: as well.
- 1:00Speaker 1: So it's a lot lot going on right now. And yeah,
- 1:04Speaker 1: it's very exciting within the band.
- 1:07Speaker 3: I bet man and as you alluded to at the start,
- 1:09Speaker 3: right like It started out just one show in Brisbane,
- 1:12Speaker 3: Sydney in Melbourne, but they sold out so quickly that
- 1:14Speaker 3: you were pretty much forced to add a couple of
- 1:16Speaker 3: more mates. So it must be a good feeling to
- 1:18Speaker 3: know that even in this day and age, people are
- 1:20Speaker 3: still prepared to let their children starve, go out and
- 1:22Speaker 3: watching in a rock and roll.
- 1:24Speaker 1: I know it's a it's a bit like that, but
- 1:26Speaker 1: yeah it's been.
- 1:27Speaker 2: It's been really positive and had strong sales early, so
- 1:30Speaker 2: that's that's really.
- 1:31Speaker 1: Cool, and yeah, we're just excited to get back into it.
- 1:35Speaker 3: I don't think the last time I spoke to the
- 1:37Speaker 3: band was back in twenty twenty two, which was just
- 1:39Speaker 3: before they run a first shows in fifteen years mate,
- 1:42Speaker 3: So how were they? Like? Oh, I know they were successful,
- 1:46Speaker 3: but how is it your point of view made?
- 1:48Speaker 1: Well?
- 1:49Speaker 2: That was the first two was with me as a
- 1:51Speaker 2: fan watching, so that was really cool to be at
- 1:55Speaker 2: the Melbourne shows and see it go down and yeah,
- 1:59Speaker 2: there was massive buzz obviously with that whole tour, and
- 2:02Speaker 2: then I was put into the guitar position after that
- 2:08Speaker 2: in twenty twenty three. Those shows were also incredible and
- 2:13Speaker 2: we got we've got some good footage of Brisbane.
- 2:16Speaker 1: We did some live recordings and things like that, so
- 2:20Speaker 1: there is on.
- 2:20Speaker 2: Our YouTube channel some clips of those which were really
- 2:23Speaker 2: really call and yeah, from there, we've just been writing material.
- 2:27Speaker 1: Lots of material going.
- 2:28Speaker 2: On there and we obviously released it a few songs
- 2:33Speaker 2: along the way, and yeah, so we've been doing what
- 2:36Speaker 2: we can. You know, there's been some constraints within the
- 2:38Speaker 2: band that's causing, you know, causing the process to be
- 2:43Speaker 2: longer than we would like, but that's just sort of
- 2:45Speaker 2: how it goes.
- 2:46Speaker 1: And now we are doing as much as we can
- 2:49Speaker 1: while we can.
- 2:50Speaker 2: And yeah, we've got these shows and we're working on
- 2:53Speaker 2: music we've got We've actually got a lot of material,
- 2:56Speaker 2: so it's all very positive.
- 3:00Speaker 3: At those first shows, made in the crowd watching like,
- 3:02Speaker 3: was there any inkling at all? I, do you have
- 3:03Speaker 3: any idea that you might be joining the band or.
- 3:07Speaker 1: No, No, not at all.
- 3:09Speaker 2: I was purely there as a fan, and I was
- 3:11Speaker 2: really excited to see the band because I've been huge
- 3:13Speaker 2: fans since since when I very first discovered them early
- 3:17Speaker 2: two thousands, you know, So I was purely there as
- 3:20Speaker 2: a fan, and I was so keen because you know,
- 3:24Speaker 2: I'm just such such a big fan of the band,
- 3:27Speaker 2: like the sound and the songs of the songwriting. It's Yeah,
- 3:31Speaker 2: it's just really special to me. So being in the
- 3:34Speaker 2: band is something else. And I just want to do
- 3:38Speaker 2: the best I can to help the boys get get
- 3:43Speaker 2: their creative creativity out and get things going and play
- 3:46Speaker 2: more shows and fly the flag.
- 3:51Speaker 3: I'll be settled in bro Like. It's just not easy
- 3:53Speaker 3: coming into a new band anyway, but a band like
- 3:55Speaker 3: something Loto, they've got their core group of fans back
- 3:57Speaker 3: when they were teenagers. Was it daunting, I guess coming
- 4:01Speaker 3: into a band like that.
- 4:02Speaker 2: Yeah, of course, very very daunting and very intimidating. You
- 4:06Speaker 2: know that they're a staple in Australian metal, you know.
- 4:09Speaker 1: So I didn't want to. I don't want to like
- 4:11Speaker 1: ruin the band, you know I wanted to do.
- 4:15Speaker 2: I want to, yeah, to be accepted, you know so
- 4:17Speaker 2: and help the band, and you know, I don't want to.
- 4:21Speaker 1: I just want to. I just want the band to
- 4:23Speaker 1: do well.
- 4:23Speaker 2: I'm a big fan of the band and I'm just
- 4:26Speaker 2: glad to be in this spot and I'm going to
- 4:28Speaker 2: work my ass off to help the boys get keep
- 4:32Speaker 2: the ball rolling and get their new songs out.
- 4:35Speaker 1: And make it the best version of itself that it
- 4:38Speaker 1: can be.
- 4:40Speaker 3: Oh man, it's right of shows that you're doing, but
- 4:42Speaker 3: like instead of the theater sized venues that you probably
- 4:45Speaker 3: could sell out now like ive the tighter, sweaty, no
- 4:48Speaker 3: barrier rooms, right the crow bar.
- 4:49Speaker 1: In the corner hotel.
- 4:50Speaker 3: So what may do you want to strip away the
- 4:52Speaker 3: distance between the band and the crowd, particularly on Well.
- 4:56Speaker 2: It was just more more of a celebration of this
- 4:58Speaker 2: single that we're releasing, So we didn't want to.
- 5:00Speaker 1: We didn't want to go too big right now.
- 5:02Speaker 2: Like we're definitely planning for a bigger release coming that
- 5:08Speaker 2: we're working on at the moment, so I think that's
- 5:10Speaker 2: when we're gonna we're gonna dig a bit deeper on
- 5:13Speaker 2: venue sizes and things. But for this one, we wanted
- 5:15Speaker 2: to keep it intimate and celebrate the single. We didn't
- 5:18Speaker 2: want to We didn't want to overdo it. And it's
- 5:21Speaker 2: nice to do something more intimate and connect with those that,
- 5:26Speaker 2: you know, those that have got in early to get tickets,
- 5:29Speaker 2: you know, so they're going to be our real true
- 5:32Speaker 2: fans that that we can connect with on that level.
- 5:39Speaker 3: Peace playing a spread of bold and new included songs
- 5:41Speaker 3: you haven't played live in many years. So without spoiling
- 5:44Speaker 3: too much risk, bro, like a we're talking deep cuts
- 5:46Speaker 3: from big pitch Lives or quickly heavy between Earth and
- 5:50Speaker 3: Death material.
- 5:51Speaker 2: You will be getting some big digitalized material absolutely, and
- 5:56Speaker 2: and the EP as well Society Anxiety. So we're covering
- 6:00Speaker 2: everything really and yeah, we're playing three new songs, the
- 6:03Speaker 2: three released songs that we put out, God Complex, what
- 6:09Speaker 2: is it?
- 6:09Speaker 1: God Complex, Gallows Weights, and the new one Dead Shadows.
- 6:14Speaker 2: So we're playing the three new ones, which is is
- 6:17Speaker 2: going to be There's a lot of work involved in
- 6:19Speaker 2: that as well, because those songs, you know, they're quite
- 6:23Speaker 2: technical and things, so yeah, there's been a lot of
- 6:25Speaker 2: work getting those up and running, but sounding really really
- 6:27Speaker 2: good in rehearsals.
- 6:29Speaker 1: Good to go, I think it's gonna be chaos.
- 6:34Speaker 3: Speaking a technical bro like, I guess that's one thing
- 6:37Speaker 3: that you've brought to the band, Like you've got a
- 6:39Speaker 3: real chennicool playing So so did that was that easy
- 6:43Speaker 3: to integrate into some plado of sound or is it
- 6:45Speaker 3: something such a work on No?
- 6:47Speaker 2: Well, yeah, I mean it's like it's it's different mentality,
- 6:52Speaker 2: I think obviously with vocals and things you know, I
- 6:56Speaker 2: don't wanna I don't want to like overstep the tars,
- 7:00Speaker 2: but you know, you want to make as as of
- 7:03Speaker 2: the way of Sunk Lodo with the other riffs and
- 7:05Speaker 2: things like that.
- 7:06Speaker 1: I was really trying to harness that.
- 7:08Speaker 2: Sound in some of the newer riff writing things, and yeah,
- 7:13Speaker 2: so it was it was a bit of a challenge
- 7:15Speaker 2: really to maintain that sound, but a more modernized version
- 7:21Speaker 2: of I think was sort of the goal.
- 7:24Speaker 1: But but yeah, I mean we just write write a.
- 7:27Speaker 2: Lot of material and locked in on the ones that
- 7:30Speaker 2: everyone felt strongly about.
- 7:32Speaker 1: So yeah, and we've got a bunch of.
- 7:35Speaker 2: Unreleased songs that are completely finished as well, so which
- 7:39Speaker 2: which really showcased even.
- 7:42Speaker 1: More sounds that you may be.
- 7:46Speaker 2: Familiar with from the from the past, but also into
- 7:49Speaker 2: the future. There's some stuff you may not expect from Sunk.
- 7:52Speaker 2: So we're just like where you know, we're at the
- 7:54Speaker 2: stage where we're exploring in the creative side of.
- 7:58Speaker 1: Things, and we were just we're trying every thing.
- 8:00Speaker 2: There's nothing, nothing off limits, and that's really refreshing for everyone.
- 8:05Speaker 3: I pushed you to elaborate on that a little bit more, mate,
- 8:07Speaker 3: Like you said, stuff that's not expected, like can you
- 8:10Speaker 3: dive a bit deeper?
- 8:11Speaker 2: Yeah, So we've got some heavier stuff obviously, stuff like
- 8:17Speaker 2: God Complex and Gallow's Way which have some lot of
- 8:21Speaker 2: balls to it, and a lot of heavier sort of things,
- 8:23Speaker 2: but unreleased stuff. There's one something in particular that that's
- 8:29Speaker 2: far from that sound. It's not it's not aggressive, it's
- 8:32Speaker 2: more mallow, I suppose, and and kind of it's not
- 8:38Speaker 2: something typically you would associate with sunk, I guess, but
- 8:42Speaker 2: it's still it still fits in well, So I'm really
- 8:47Speaker 2: we're all really excited about it.
- 8:50Speaker 3: I think it's fair to say bright right the Australian
- 8:52Speaker 3: heavy music landscape with booming right now there's a whole
- 8:55Speaker 3: new generation younger fans just cover and I'll turn it
- 8:58Speaker 3: through the heavy metal. So wait, like when you're playing,
- 9:01Speaker 3: like you noticed a different pre demographic at the Barrier
- 9:04Speaker 3: and like if they're a bit more crasier I guess,
- 9:07Speaker 3: And what they were, well, yeah.
- 9:11Speaker 2: From my perspective, yeah, the crowds, like from the last
- 9:15Speaker 2: two we did, they were, you know, singing every word
- 9:19Speaker 2: and we had some youngsters at the front as well,
- 9:22Speaker 2: which is really cool. Especially at Froth and Fury. There's
- 9:24Speaker 2: a few youngsters in the crowd, which is really cool
- 9:26Speaker 2: to see. And and then you had the older guys
- 9:28Speaker 2: that knew every word film filming all the riffs and things.
- 9:33Speaker 2: So yeah, there's no lack of enthusiasm, that's for sure.
- 9:39Speaker 3: Just say I'm an older fan. He's like dragging long
- 9:42Speaker 3: and new mate to one of these shows coming up? Right,
- 9:44Speaker 3: What three songs reckon that the new person should listen
- 9:47Speaker 3: to in order to get What do you expect?
- 9:50Speaker 2: I think I think definitely Dead Shadows. I think that's
- 9:55Speaker 2: going to be a standout for the set. And you know,
- 9:59Speaker 2: there's lots of prett action going on in the song
- 10:01Speaker 2: that we've leaned into and things. If you don't know
- 10:05Speaker 2: sunk Lodo, you've definitely got to listen to Between Birth
- 10:08Speaker 2: and Death. It's just an iconic album, one of my favorites,
- 10:12Speaker 2: So definitely listen to that entire album. But yeah, the
- 10:14Speaker 2: new Dead Shadow song, I would definitely make sure you're
- 10:17Speaker 2: across that before you come. And yeah, that was.
- 10:21Speaker 3: My tis his all right, Well, thanks very much for
- 10:24Speaker 3: your time. The Dead Shadows tool kicks off in Tool
- 10:26Speaker 3: and Get it on August seventh, and from what they
- 10:28Speaker 3: can only get tickets for that show and the first
- 10:30Speaker 3: Brisbane show on August eighth, so it's got to see
- 10:33Speaker 3: somebody this time around. Don't fuck around. Tickets via teamwork

- 10:43Speaker 1: That's it, Thank you man,
