- 0:14Speaker 1: Welcome to Patriet's Unfiltered.
- 0:18Speaker 3: Let's get and here's Evan.
- 0:20Speaker 4: Hi?
- 0:21Speaker 1: Evan, what time?
- 0:22Speaker 3: This is the two thirty show?
- 0:24Speaker 5: I was at a J. Brown's press comp.
- 0:25Speaker 3: Okay, so were they. But anyway Justin Hill was put
- 0:28Speaker 3: on the Jols Julian or Julian Hill would ever be
- 0:32Speaker 3: just good news.
- 0:34Speaker 6: I do think that they kind of painted themselves in
- 0:36Speaker 6: the corner where they really needed this player.
- 0:39Speaker 1: What do you mean, because I think they need him
- 0:41Speaker 1: for the offense.
- 0:41Speaker 6: I think that how they have the number one ups
- 0:43Speaker 6: on the corner if they didn't get a J.
- 0:45Speaker 1: Brown. Oh, you don't have to fight me. I just
- 0:47Speaker 1: want to.
- 0:47Speaker 3: I just want to understand what Paul sorry for, you know,
- 0:51Speaker 3: bunting your balls the other day about the tweet.
- 0:53Speaker 1: Yeah, he was.
- 0:54Speaker 6: Upset about it.
- 0:55Speaker 3: I'm in the vending machine upstairs when you were, actually,
- 0:58Speaker 3: which I go often, by the way, Hell, that vending
- 1:01Speaker 3: machine owes me a lot of money. I got a
- 1:03Speaker 3: bag of kettle corn and I tweeted it out. I
- 1:06Speaker 3: got this big punk of I don't know what I
- 1:08Speaker 3: was gonna bring it down, but I left it on
- 1:10Speaker 3: my desk last night. The cleaning people said we got
- 1:12Speaker 3: to get rid of this, and they threw it out
- 1:14Speaker 3: noon tomorrow. Tomorrow, you got to make sure he keeps
- 1:17Speaker 3: his pants on. I'm gonna make sure he put it.
- 1:19Speaker 1: Back on, no promise. Willem is in film.
- 1:22Speaker 3: What's up, William? Oh?
- 1:23Speaker 5: Come on, William, you gotta be happy.
- 1:25Speaker 7: Yeah, we did now Christmas.
- 1:33Speaker 8: This is Patriots Unfiltered, presented by Toyota's official website for
- 1:37Speaker 8: deals by a Toyota dot com.
- 1:41Speaker 3: All right, welcome the Patriots Unfiltered. It is Thursday here
- 1:46Speaker 3: at ji Lette Stadium.
- 1:47Speaker 1: Boston Stadium, I think Boston Stadium.
- 1:49Speaker 3: Yeah, we allowed to say this BEFA monitoring this podcast.
- 1:53Speaker 1: Boston.
- 1:54Speaker 5: It actually said in Google Maps and now calls it Boston.
- 1:57Speaker 1: Right. They have a lot of clout, yeah, affecting Google.
- 2:02Speaker 6: Question to get to the stadium this morning?
- 2:04Speaker 5: I like to put it in just to know your
- 2:06Speaker 5: traffic and you know how long it's going to take
- 2:08Speaker 5: and all that kind of stuff, and.
- 2:10Speaker 1: Will you just to put the GPS on to get
- 2:13Speaker 1: to work?
- 2:14Speaker 5: I I I it's in my favorite, so obviously, so
- 2:17Speaker 5: I hate to Lette Stadium and then it pops up
- 2:19Speaker 5: and now it's changes to Boston Stadium.
- 2:22Speaker 1: Wow, there you go, I just says, work. Can I
- 2:24Speaker 1: ask a doult not supposed to do that? Dumb question?
- 2:29Speaker 1: Of course?
- 2:31Speaker 6: Why does FIFA demand the change the name? Is it
- 2:35Speaker 6: just because Jellette is not a FIFA probably?
- 2:37Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 2:38Speaker 6: So are there some that didn't have to change their names?
- 2:41Speaker 6: I don't know if they're affiliated with FIFA.
- 2:43Speaker 1: I don't know New York City. Maybe it wasn't as
- 2:45Speaker 1: dumb a question as I thought.
- 2:47Speaker 3: Yeah, that's a good question, but I know that overall, yes,
- 2:51Speaker 3: anything that is not paying FIFA money is gone, you know, clinging.
- 2:57Speaker 6: Your access to the bathroom next door, which might be
- 2:59Speaker 6: a problem, but sorry, see how it goes.
- 3:01Speaker 3: Okay, Yeah, but we are now tenants in our own building.
- 3:05Speaker 3: Literally yep, we have uh, we have credentials that we
- 3:08Speaker 3: have to wear, that says tenant.
- 3:11Speaker 1: So anyway, that's enough of that.
- 3:14Speaker 6: I don't know if they know who you are, you
- 3:16Speaker 6: know who I am, But I think that's I watched
- 3:18Speaker 6: the revolution.
- 3:19Speaker 1: You know, that's rather disrespectful.
- 3:21Speaker 8: Every American stadium that FIFA is using has to change
- 3:24Speaker 8: their name.
- 3:24Speaker 1: Every one of them.
- 3:25Speaker 3: Wow, wow, okay, all right whatever. Yeah, the first game
- 3:31Speaker 3: is June thirteenth.
- 3:32Speaker 1: Here it's coming out Scotland and Haiti. Is that what
- 3:35Speaker 1: it is?
- 3:36Speaker 5: I believe that is correct.
- 3:38Speaker 6: Yes, scott I'm root in Scotland, I think I are
- 3:40Speaker 6: you my ancestry. I'm more Scottish, mostly Scotland, you know,
- 3:47Speaker 6: William the Conqueror, that's my is.
- 3:50Speaker 1: Uh Is Scotland any good?
- 3:52Speaker 3: No?
- 3:52Speaker 1: I don't know. So if they were good, then Fred
- 3:54Speaker 1: would so.
- 3:55Speaker 5: I think one of the one of the issues that
- 3:57Speaker 5: I have with this World Cups. They expanded the field
- 4:00Speaker 5: so there's now forty eight teams in the World Cup.
- 4:04Speaker 5: Italy still didn't and Italy still didn't qualify. So on
- 4:10Speaker 5: top of the fact that there's now it's not as
- 4:12Speaker 5: hard to make the World Cup, that has watered down
- 4:15Speaker 5: all the groups as well because there's more teams. So
- 4:19Speaker 5: now getting out of the group doesn't really feel as
- 4:23Speaker 5: difficult as it did before either. So I'm not a
- 4:26Speaker 5: fan of I heard.
- 4:27Speaker 3: Four Italian people went into the portal.
- 4:29Speaker 1: They want to go to it.
- 4:30Speaker 6: So I will just tell you anecdotally from my week
- 4:33Speaker 6: in Rome, people would not have they were not app It's.
- 4:37Speaker 1: A scuttle but on the street, the pulse of Italy.
- 4:40Speaker 5: Is not a talent issue. That is seems to that
- 4:43Speaker 5: is a coaching, organizational structure issue. I mean, Italy is
- 4:48Speaker 5: not deprived of soccer talent.
- 4:50Speaker 6: I amn't talked to one gentleman from Germany who was
- 4:54Speaker 6: talking about how ridiculous he felt it was that Italy.
- 4:58Speaker 3: It's kind of crazy, kind of crazy.
- 5:01Speaker 1: It's like Italy it's.
- 5:02Speaker 3: Like, you know, Switzerland not having a skier in the Olympics,
- 5:06Speaker 3: like Canada. Right, all right, anyway, enough of that. I
- 5:11Speaker 3: was thinking, you know, kind of a pictures related thing.
- 5:14Speaker 3: I was watching the Red Sox last night. Peyton totally
- 5:17Speaker 3: He's Gronk. If Gronk was a picture.
- 5:18Speaker 1: Yeah, good good comp.
- 5:20Speaker 6: Yeah, like Peyton totally maybe you know, one of the
- 5:25Speaker 6: very very few reasons to watch that team.
- 5:27Speaker 1: Yeah, not just because of his talent.
- 5:30Speaker 6: I actually think Early is a better pitcher, but totally
- 5:33Speaker 6: is like Gronk, perfect comp He's the whole package. He's
- 5:37Speaker 6: entertainment and.
- 5:38Speaker 3: He enjoys it being out there.
- 5:41Speaker 1: He's kind of a you know, like great stash. Yeah.
- 5:43Speaker 3: Anyway, some hope anyway, good Win by the Socks Red Sox.
- 5:48Speaker 3: All right, so what do we got? We were a
- 5:51Speaker 3: day out, two days out from having access.
- 5:54Speaker 6: Uh yeah, yeah, I'm thinking a little bit about gay
- 5:57Speaker 6: Bacchus and why they have that has really been a
- 6:00Speaker 6: point of questioning with Rabes.
- 6:02Speaker 1: You know, what's what's up with him?
- 6:03Speaker 6: We haven't seen him? I mean he was there rookie
- 6:05Speaker 6: mini camp watching. He wasn't in any uniform, but where
- 6:09Speaker 6: is he?
- 6:09Speaker 1: What's up? Yeah?
- 6:10Speaker 3: Normally even when rookies, you know, drafted rookies aren't signed,
- 6:14Speaker 3: they still show up.
- 6:15Speaker 6: Yeah, you know, and he's the one that that we
- 6:17Speaker 6: haven't we haven't seen participate.
- 6:19Speaker 1: He's the only one left.
- 6:20Speaker 6: So I assume we'll get that question talked to Rabel Tuesday, Wednesday,
- 6:23Speaker 6: Thursday next week. I'm sure it'll it'll sneak its way
- 6:25Speaker 6: into one of those press conferences. So I'm just curious.
- 6:29Speaker 5: I might have to take matters to my own. I'm
- 6:32Speaker 5: not sure, because I figured it would get asked both
- 6:34Speaker 5: of the last times out. You know, we talked to him,
- 6:37Speaker 5: and it hasn't been not I think that there's you know,
- 6:40Speaker 5: the Gonzales situation, AJ Brown gets traded, there's other things
- 6:44Speaker 5: that maybe are bigger, but they're not a lot bigger
- 6:49Speaker 5: than the second round pick who at a position of
- 6:52Speaker 5: need where you don't really have a ton of other options.
- 6:54Speaker 6: I go back to I think what Paul said, which
- 6:56Speaker 6: was that he was the only guy you're really expecting
- 6:58Speaker 6: something from this year of that draft class, that you
- 7:01Speaker 6: really need something, and it's magnified without Landry being out
- 7:04Speaker 6: there of practice as well. Where will Landry be when
- 7:06Speaker 6: he gets back from rehab. Maybe he'll be fine, but
- 7:09Speaker 6: you know, I just I think ak is important. Yeah,
- 7:11Speaker 6: you might have to bump rear it in up a
- 7:13Speaker 6: little bit with the Julian Hill injury because he's probably
- 7:17Speaker 6: number two now. Yeah, so that role might be bigger,
- 7:21Speaker 6: but you have to be careful. I think you might
- 7:24Speaker 6: talked about this, you and Evan on Tuesday, just you know,
- 7:28Speaker 6: second year tight end. If he's not ready for it,
- 7:30Speaker 6: it's not necessarily in his best interest to give him
- 7:33Speaker 6: a bigger role than he's ready for. But I would
- 7:35Speaker 6: expect to have him to have a bigger role than
- 7:37Speaker 6: I would have anticipated because of that injury.
- 7:40Speaker 5: Yeah. Yeah, No, I think Acus right now is probably
- 7:43Speaker 5: the number one question other than Gonzales with the team
- 7:46Speaker 5: is is it injury related? Which is what Mike Reesa
- 7:49Speaker 5: I think alluded to somewhere I don't know, on the
- 7:52Speaker 5: Twitter sphere, I saw that. And obviously the Gonzales thing
- 7:56Speaker 5: is holding over everything. But this Acus thing, I think
- 8:00Speaker 5: is a number two on the storylines list right now
- 8:03Speaker 5: is what's going on with him?
- 8:04Speaker 6: So with Gonzales too, and I know a lot of people,
- 8:07Speaker 6: myself included, feel like, you know, generally, as you get
- 8:11Speaker 6: toward Mini camp and then maybe that dead period between
- 8:14Speaker 6: mini camp and training camp, you start to see a
- 8:16Speaker 6: lot of these things happening, right, You're starting to see
- 8:18Speaker 6: a lot of these things happening now. This week, I
- 8:21Speaker 6: think there were four hundred million dollar contracts you agreed
- 8:25Speaker 6: to in the NFL Christian Watson today.
- 8:29Speaker 1: I think in her big for Pittsburgh was one of them.
- 8:33Speaker 6: So there's been a couple of big money and the
- 8:35Speaker 6: one you know, and it happened during the show on Tuesday.
- 8:38Speaker 6: I was sort of like, I know, people don't like
- 8:40Speaker 6: when we have our little side conversations, but Evan.
- 8:43Speaker 1: And I was showing him.
- 8:44Speaker 6: Patrick Sartin, you know, agreed to a little slight adjustment
- 8:48Speaker 6: to his contract that added to his total, which for
- 8:53Speaker 6: Gonzalez is good news for the Patriots, is probably not
- 8:57Speaker 6: great news because I think that's probably good to try
- 8:59Speaker 6: to his you know, I think Sertan is in that class,
- 9:04Speaker 6: you know, you know, at the top of their cornerback chart,
- 9:07Speaker 6: and he wanted a little bit more money knowing that
- 9:09Speaker 6: these guys have started to sign since he signed, so
- 9:13Speaker 6: he had a little bit of an adjustment. I think
- 9:15Speaker 6: that's going to add to the the bottom line to
- 9:17Speaker 6: Gonzales ultimately when he signs. Yeah, yeah, well we'll see.
- 9:21Speaker 6: I mean, is he going to be here next week?
- 9:23Speaker 6: Is it going to be a hold in? It's going
- 9:24Speaker 6: to be watching you know, maybe that would be my
- 9:27Speaker 6: pick would be he'll be here. He won't get himself fined,
- 9:30Speaker 6: although the fines for mini camp aren't huge. But I
- 9:33Speaker 6: think he'll be here and I'm not sure how much
- 9:35Speaker 6: he'll do.
- 9:37Speaker 5: Yeah, I mean, we really haven't seen that secondary hole
- 9:40Speaker 5: at all. The Sprinkers. Carlton Davis hasn't been here either,
- 9:43Speaker 5: and then Marcus Jones wasn't at the last practice that
- 9:45Speaker 5: we were at, so we haven't really seen that Those
- 9:47Speaker 5: top three guys, not that they need a ton of
- 9:50Speaker 5: time working together after working together all last season. But
- 9:53Speaker 5: it'd be interesting to see if any of them are
- 9:55Speaker 5: back doing what they're doing all that stuff.
- 9:57Speaker 6: And then Chucky Trees Charles Woods for those who don't know,
- 9:59Speaker 6: was watching without there, without a helmet. But giving some
- 10:03Speaker 6: of those younger guys opportunities. Now, maybe that jump starts
- 10:06Speaker 6: some of them. Maybe a guy like you know, Prunty
- 10:08Speaker 6: getting snaps that he wouldn't have gotten. Maybe it maybe
- 10:11Speaker 6: it helps accelerate his you know, his development.
- 10:18Speaker 1: Ville Door is more of a veteran.
- 10:20Speaker 6: But yeah, yeah, you see, I think it's a good
- 10:23Speaker 6: point with the young guys sometimes, like I always go
- 10:26Speaker 6: back to OTAs it's Malcolm Butler time. You know, this
- 10:29Speaker 6: is where he sort of got on the radar. It's
- 10:31Speaker 6: kind of the flip side of Akis where you know,
- 10:33Speaker 6: you just you love him. I mean we talk about
- 10:36Speaker 6: it all the time with rookies, like you get behind
- 10:38Speaker 6: the eight ball, there's a weird random injury your first summer,
- 10:41Speaker 6: and it's usually a fight to catch up, you know.
- 10:45Speaker 6: I don't I think like that position, maybe not as
- 10:47Speaker 6: much as like you know, the Nick Hill Harry where
- 10:49Speaker 6: he's you know, receivers missing camp and those reps and
- 10:52Speaker 6: the timing and everything so important. But you know, one hand,
- 10:55Speaker 6: oh yeah, well, you're giving other guys opportunities like Elijah
- 10:58Speaker 6: Ponder and you know, maybe Braden Swinton when he came back.
- 11:01Speaker 1: But at the same time, you just.
- 11:02Speaker 6: Love to have that guy who you need probably to
- 11:04Speaker 6: contribute this year right from the get go.
- 11:06Speaker 5: And you just kind of need to know, I think,
- 11:10Speaker 5: do you need to make another move at that spot?
- 11:13Speaker 5: You know, not that you would get that out of
- 11:15Speaker 5: the spring necessarily, That's probably something you'd find out more
- 11:17Speaker 5: in camp. But if Landry is not in a great
- 11:21Speaker 5: place and Accus is you know, behind the eight ball
- 11:24Speaker 5: and isn't quite ready for the start of the season,
- 11:27Speaker 5: then do you make a call to the Giants for
- 11:29Speaker 5: Cavon Thibodeau? Do you look around the veteran market for
- 11:33Speaker 5: Josh Sweat with the Cardinals Thibodeau at the Giants, Like
- 11:35Speaker 5: do you make one of those moves because you kind
- 11:38Speaker 5: of went out, you know, the A. J. Brown trade,
- 11:40Speaker 5: Like you're all in, like you're you're you're all in
- 11:42Speaker 5: and you're mortgaging you know, assets into the future to
- 11:45Speaker 5: for the here and the now, And you'd hate to
- 11:47Speaker 5: be one edge Rusher short when it all said and
- 11:49Speaker 5: done well.
- 11:50Speaker 3: Uh, our our friend Scott Zolac on his show was
- 11:57Speaker 3: texting somebody and Bertrand was was grilling him who you're texting?
- 12:02Speaker 3: Who you're texting? And he wouldn't say it. You know,
- 12:04Speaker 3: he had this smile like he's onto something and uh,
- 12:08Speaker 3: you know, Uh, Bertrand's like, is this is it what
- 12:11Speaker 3: we talked about?
- 12:12Speaker 1: Is it something you know?
- 12:12Speaker 3: And he wouldn't say, because, well, if it's it's what
- 12:15Speaker 3: we talked about, then Patriots fans are going to really
- 12:17Speaker 3: like it. And you know, if you're worried about depth,
- 12:21Speaker 3: this will take care of it. That's what Bertrand said,
- 12:24Speaker 3: was this today, might it might have been yesterday, might
- 12:27Speaker 3: have been yesterday.
- 12:28Speaker 6: I know yesterday I was getting texts from other people
- 12:32Speaker 6: that were asking me my thoughts because they felt like
- 12:36Speaker 6: Zoe was sort of alluding to the fact that Diggs
- 12:38Speaker 6: could return.
- 12:39Speaker 5: That's what I was picking up to.
- 12:41Speaker 6: Yeah, and I don't know if this is the same
- 12:43Speaker 6: conversation or not.
- 12:45Speaker 5: Or depth.
- 12:48Speaker 6: This would this would be more than depth, this would
- 12:51Speaker 6: be I mean maybe that's the case. I don't see it.
- 12:56Speaker 6: I don't see it. I think you got what you
- 12:57Speaker 6: needed out of Digs last year. I don't think you
- 13:00Speaker 6: need to have him now in a logjam with Dobbs
- 13:03Speaker 6: and with Brown, I don't know. I think that ship
- 13:07Speaker 6: is sailed, but I mean I'm wrong, But I don't
- 13:09Speaker 6: know what the depth means. I mean, we're already trying
- 13:11Speaker 6: to figure out what you're going to do with Kayshawan Boody.
- 13:14Speaker 6: Now we're talking about what we're doing. Bob Douglas, what
- 13:16Speaker 6: are you gonna do well?
- 13:18Speaker 1: Depth?
- 13:19Speaker 3: In a sarcastic way, you know, if you're worried about depth,
- 13:21Speaker 3: this will certainly take care of that.
- 13:23Speaker 1: Yeah, I don't know.
- 13:23Speaker 6: Fancy football to me, Yeah, I don't know what they
- 13:25Speaker 6: were talking about. That's to me, that would be what
- 13:28Speaker 6: people are clamoring for, is a fantasy lineup. Yeah, And
- 13:31Speaker 6: I I always say I don't rule anything out because
- 13:35Speaker 6: there's been too many times over the years that I
- 13:37Speaker 6: was like, there's no way that's going to happen, and
- 13:39Speaker 6: it happens. You know, there's no way that Dolphins are
- 13:42Speaker 6: going to just release Tua because that's too it. No,
- 13:46Speaker 6: these things happen every time you think it's not. Russell
- 13:48Speaker 6: Wilson was able to get get out of Denver. You know,
- 13:51Speaker 6: somehow they traded Deshaun Watson. Like, you know, there's a
- 13:55Speaker 6: million different examples of it. So I'm not going to
- 13:57Speaker 6: say it's not going to happen. I would be so prized.
- 14:01Speaker 6: I just don't know how it works with three guys,
- 14:04Speaker 6: you know, arguably garnering one hundred plus targets wanting anyway,
- 14:09Speaker 6: they've added over two hundred targets from last year. Interesting,
- 14:15Speaker 6: and they subtracted just really as of right now, counting
- 14:18Speaker 6: Booty in just Digs his hundred that so you've added
- 14:21Speaker 6: one hundred plus targets from last year.
- 14:24Speaker 1: I know you think I'm just a pretty face. All
- 14:26Speaker 1: of a sudden you bring stats out.
- 14:27Speaker 5: I'm like, that's a really good one though. Okay, so
- 14:30Speaker 5: it sounds so surprised.
- 14:31Speaker 1: So you must have been talking about.
- 14:34Speaker 6: Usually he teas it up and he's like, I just
- 14:36Speaker 6: want you know, I did a little research today. I've
- 14:37Speaker 6: got a statte I'm back.
- 14:44Speaker 5: So I get made fun of for looking at charge.
- 14:47Speaker 1: All right, So last year Digs had one hundred and
- 14:50Speaker 1: two targets.
- 14:51Speaker 6: Okay, so you lost one hundred and two targets, but
- 14:53Speaker 6: you've added one hundred and twenty one from aj Brown
- 14:56Speaker 6: in eighty five from Romeo Dogs. So you've added two
- 14:59Speaker 6: hundred targets from last year and you subtracted one hundred
- 15:02Speaker 6: just round numbers.
- 15:03Speaker 1: Okay, this I kind.
- 15:08Speaker 6: Of started this with with Booty in mind, because Booty
- 15:10Speaker 6: had forty six targets last year.
- 15:12Speaker 1: Where does he get his targets?
- 15:13Speaker 4: You know?
- 15:13Speaker 6: How does how does that number rise? How do we
- 15:15Speaker 6: get him his money? How do we pay the man
- 15:18Speaker 6: his money? Right, it's going to be hard when you're
- 15:21Speaker 6: adding targets, right, and when he didn't get targets last
- 15:25Speaker 6: year with far less targets, right, So that's where and
- 15:29Speaker 6: so now if you're gonna you know again, Mike Giardi
- 15:32Speaker 6: reached out to me, is like, what are you hearing
- 15:34Speaker 6: about Diggs? I hear z Oh talking a lot about Digs.
- 15:36Speaker 6: Are you hearing anything? And I was like, no, I'm not.
- 15:39Speaker 6: But so now you're going to put those hundred targets
- 15:41Speaker 6: back in there with Brown's going to get a hundred targets, Okay,
- 15:45Speaker 6: I'd be very surprised if if Dobbs doesn't at least
- 15:49Speaker 6: match the eighty five that he had last year. Where
- 15:52Speaker 6: are all these targets going to come from. You want
- 15:54Speaker 6: to run the ball more, so you're not going to
- 15:56Speaker 6: throw it as much as you did last year.
- 15:57Speaker 1: Right, Well, what if.
- 16:01Speaker 3: You know, what if the number of play offensive plays
- 16:03Speaker 3: the team has increases because they're just a better offense
- 16:07Speaker 3: and they're matriculating the ball down the field and possessing
- 16:11Speaker 3: the ball longer, I don't know, Like that doesn't make
- 16:14Speaker 3: up for all no more offensive play.
- 16:17Speaker 6: It's a mitigating factor for sure. You know, maybe they're better.
- 16:21Speaker 6: I think they were really good last year offensively, and
- 16:23Speaker 6: to you know, yeah, oh they were good.
- 16:25Speaker 3: I don't.
- 16:26Speaker 1: I just don't see.
- 16:28Speaker 6: Like this started again with with Booty and we were
- 16:31Speaker 6: making the point that we could understand. And by the way,
- 16:33Speaker 6: I think Adam Schefter is the first one to actually
- 16:36Speaker 6: report that Booty wants a trade. He said that on
- 16:39Speaker 6: one of his various podcasts in the last couple of days.
- 16:44Speaker 6: I can understand if that's what he feels, if Booty's feeling.
- 16:47Speaker 6: I had forty six targets last year, and I don't
- 16:50Speaker 6: see a road where I'm going to increase that number significantly.
- 16:54Speaker 6: And I need to show everybody that I'm capable of
- 16:57Speaker 6: catching more than thirty three passes, and I think he
- 17:01Speaker 6: looks at it as New England's not going to be
- 17:02Speaker 6: that place for me because I don't have a road
- 17:04Speaker 6: to get the targets.
- 17:06Speaker 5: Yeah, I just wonder what Digs, you know, last year,
- 17:09Speaker 5: who's only a fifty five percent snap right guy And
- 17:12Speaker 5: we all kind of chalk that up to him coming
- 17:14Speaker 5: off the knee injury and then managing him throughout the season.
- 17:16Speaker 5: But in theory, that's a third receiver's workload. And so
- 17:22Speaker 5: if you assume that Dobbs and AJ Brown are your
- 17:24Speaker 5: base receivers or your two top guys, is Digs a
- 17:30Speaker 5: okay with just being the third fiddle snap count wise again,
- 17:34Speaker 5: and you get everybody on the field. Now this is
- 17:36Speaker 5: a question of personalities and all that kind of stuff.
- 17:40Speaker 5: They're the open guy, you know, and if Digs is
- 17:43Speaker 5: the open guy on that play, then he gets the ball.
- 17:45Speaker 5: If AJ Brown is the open guy, now, is that
- 17:47Speaker 5: gonna spread the targets around enough that everybody is satisfied
- 17:51Speaker 5: and everybody's happy. I don't know, but you know, from
- 17:53Speaker 5: a football standpoint, it does work. Like you you have
- 17:57Speaker 5: an outside receiver with AJ Brown, you have more of
- 17:59Speaker 5: the flanker with Romeo Dobbs and your slot receiver is Digs,
- 18:03Speaker 5: and so like, it's not like it doesn't work from
- 18:05Speaker 5: an exus no standpoint.
- 18:08Speaker 6: A really good player likes Digs had a good season
- 18:11Speaker 6: for them last year.
- 18:12Speaker 1: I do think that he tailed off badly. I have
- 18:15Speaker 1: numbers on that too. We'll get to that later.
- 18:17Speaker 5: Second, he came from Armed today like.
- 18:20Speaker 6: Well, because like you get like a game thrown in
- 18:23Speaker 6: your face, like, oh, I guess that was wrong. Yeah,
- 18:26Speaker 6: I mean I didn't watch the playoffs. I guess, you know,
- 18:28Speaker 6: but I think I would say though, it is just
- 18:30Speaker 6: you know, Evan, you made the point on Tuesday's show
- 18:32Speaker 6: of that not the fastest lineup, and if you're putting
- 18:35Speaker 6: Digs into that and you're pulling back on Douglas and Williams,
- 18:39Speaker 6: you're now pushing more of the speed down the depth
- 18:41Speaker 6: chartle you know that's part of it too. And you know,
- 18:44Speaker 6: I just and I want to make sure that Romeo
- 18:46Speaker 6: Dobbs signed a four year deal. I want to make
- 18:48Speaker 6: sure that he gets on the same page as Drake
- 18:50Speaker 6: May and that he becomes that guy that Diggs was.
- 18:53Speaker 6: And if you're always kind of playing half in, half
- 18:56Speaker 6: out with that, does that relationship have a chance to
- 18:59Speaker 6: develop and throw.
- 19:00Speaker 5: I think that's the biggest question. It's not necessarily does
- 19:02Speaker 5: the pieces fit together, because I think that they can
- 19:05Speaker 5: easily fit to do that. And it's not like a
- 19:08Speaker 5: redundancy issue either, Like I think that those three guys
- 19:11Speaker 5: could play off of each other. But you're putting Stefan
- 19:15Speaker 5: Diggs and AJ Brown into the same locker room, and
- 19:19Speaker 5: can you handle that? And is that what's best for
- 19:21Speaker 5: the football team. I don't know Aj Brown. I haven't
- 19:24Speaker 5: been around AJ Brown. We were around Digs all of
- 19:26Speaker 5: last year. It's he's a personality, like he just it
- 19:31Speaker 5: is what it is. Like he's a star receiver in
- 19:33Speaker 5: the NFL, and from what we hear that's kind of
- 19:36Speaker 5: AJ Brown is also an alpha, So like now you
- 19:38Speaker 5: have two alphas in the wide receiver room, and is
- 19:42Speaker 5: that what's best versus you know, having AJ Brown as
- 19:46Speaker 5: the top dog and Romeo Dobbs the number two and
- 19:49Speaker 5: everybody's roles are kind of defined and makes sense and
- 19:52Speaker 5: everybody's happy and all that kind of stuff. I wouldn't
- 19:55Speaker 5: worry about it. From anoking I don't think so. I
- 20:00Speaker 5: have one email that says, with Dig's coming back.
- 20:02Speaker 1: I will.
- 20:03Speaker 3: I just want to make sure we're not saying he's
- 20:04Speaker 3: coming back.
- 20:05Speaker 6: No, we're not saying that. I do we think Zoe
- 20:08Speaker 6: thinks that may.
- 20:09Speaker 3: Wait, No, we're not even saying that. We're not even
- 20:11Speaker 3: saying that.
- 20:13Speaker 9: No.
- 20:13Speaker 1: So just yeah, well.
- 20:15Speaker 6: That is the thing right now under the you know,
- 20:16Speaker 6: everybody's probably wondering, I mean, probably other spots that makes sense.
- 20:19Speaker 6: I will say, though, I think it makes probably more
- 20:21Speaker 6: sense to me, at least from all this stuff, to
- 20:23Speaker 6: have digs rather than booty, you know what I mean,
- 20:26Speaker 6: Like like inserting digs with Brown and Dobbs seems to
- 20:29Speaker 6: be a little bit football wise, digs is a better
- 20:32Speaker 6: fit for the reasons have been said.
- 20:33Speaker 1: I would agree with that.
- 20:34Speaker 5: Yeah, I just all it comes down to is whether
- 20:37Speaker 5: or not you think that they can play nice in
- 20:39Speaker 5: the sandbox and is there enough targets to go around
- 20:41Speaker 5: and you can you keep everybody happy and all that
- 20:44Speaker 5: different type of stuff is a is a big question
- 20:47Speaker 5: that I don't think, you know, we can really answer.
- 20:49Speaker 5: Like you know, the coaching staff has been around A. J.
- 20:51Speaker 5: Brown a lot more than we have.
- 20:53Speaker 3: It's definitely would be a good problem to have football wise.
- 20:58Speaker 3: But like you said, they brought in Gilliam. You know
- 21:02Speaker 3: they want They've said they want to run the ball
- 21:05Speaker 3: more consistently and more and just more. Uh So again, yeah,
- 21:10Speaker 3: where are those targets going to come from?
- 21:12Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 21:13Speaker 6: I mean that those are all football questions and and
- 21:15Speaker 6: they're you know, they're they're significant. My bigger concern would be,
- 21:19Speaker 6: I think you got everything you could have possibly hoped
- 21:21Speaker 6: for out of Diggs last year. And I think Diggs
- 21:23Speaker 6: is a great player. I used to argue with Mike
- 21:25Speaker 6: that Mike was unfair to Diggs's ability, you know, back
- 21:29Speaker 6: when he wasn't a Patriot, you know, then when he
- 21:31Speaker 6: became Patriot then you know, Mike was on the bullet
- 21:34Speaker 6: Mike was with us then. But I just think this
- 21:39Speaker 6: is his pattern, Like he works in small, you know,
- 21:44Speaker 6: short doses.
- 21:44Speaker 1: He's not the player. Like I think that you.
- 21:46Speaker 6: Put up with him in Buffalo for years because he's
- 21:49Speaker 6: fifteen hundred yard guy. When he becomes a thousand yard guy, yep,
- 21:53Speaker 6: you move on because he's just like all the other
- 21:56Speaker 6: guys now. So that to me would be my biggest
- 22:00Speaker 6: concern is. Aj Brown is not only an alpha, but
- 22:05Speaker 6: he's unabashed in speaking his mind right, I don't think
- 22:13Speaker 6: that's a great mix with you know, even if aj
- 22:15Speaker 6: Brown wasn't here, I wouldn't necessarily want Digs back. I
- 22:18Speaker 6: think you were rolling the dice with him last year,
- 22:21Speaker 6: and I think you got out at the perfect time.
- 22:22Speaker 3: Here's a question I have about Digs in the locker room.
- 22:26Speaker 3: Was he the alpha in Houston and in Buffalo? Because
- 22:29Speaker 3: what I'm trying to get at is did he see
- 22:32Speaker 3: a need for that here because of the youth of
- 22:34Speaker 3: the wide receiver room? And did he step up and
- 22:37Speaker 3: take that role? Did he have that role in Houston?
- 22:39Speaker 1: In Buffalo?
- 22:40Speaker 5: He was a captain in Houston. One year in Houston
- 22:42Speaker 5: and he wore the sea, So he was a captain
- 22:44Speaker 5: in Houston. And you know, I guess in Buffalo towards
- 22:47Speaker 5: the end, it sounds like that started to materialize and
- 22:51Speaker 5: he started to try to be more of a vocal
- 22:53Speaker 5: leader and stuff like that as that process were on.
- 22:56Speaker 5: But I guess, you know, I think point about kind
- 23:01Speaker 5: of getting out of the Diggs business before it blows
- 23:04Speaker 5: up on you is like, maybe you know where I'm
- 23:07Speaker 5: kind of at with it. Where you got what you
- 23:09Speaker 5: needed out of Diggs last year? It was a good
- 23:11Speaker 5: season out of him. It was a good season for
- 23:12Speaker 5: the team. Uh, but do you want to take that
- 23:16Speaker 5: chance again that it's gonna work out, that he's gonna be.
- 23:20Speaker 6: Yeah, and then if like it's one of those risk
- 23:23Speaker 6: reward things like again, if I'm going to get the
- 23:26Speaker 6: one hundred and ten catch, fifteen hundred yard you know,
- 23:29Speaker 6: nine touchdown, guy, that's worth the risk. What's the what's
- 23:35Speaker 6: the ceiling? Like if Evans, let's say Evans whole offense unfolds,
- 23:40Speaker 6: So you've convinced Diggs he you know, he's going to
- 23:42Speaker 6: be okay being third banana and everything works great, So
- 23:46Speaker 6: he's going to be the third option get maybe you know,
- 23:52Speaker 6: seventy catches. You know, maybe he approaches a thousand yards
- 23:56Speaker 6: and that looks great, that that'd be great. All of
- 23:58Speaker 6: a sudden, your offense is like damn near unstoppable. That's
- 24:01Speaker 6: the upside. But to me, the downside is so much
- 24:06Speaker 6: more damaging than what he would what that would provide,
- 24:09Speaker 6: you know what I mean, Like, I think you could
- 24:11Speaker 6: have a lesser slot guy, but have much better chances
- 24:15Speaker 6: of everything, you know, sort of coexisting. Like what what
- 24:18Speaker 6: of Mac Hollins, Like Mac Collins is a guy that
- 24:21Speaker 6: was in that mix with the targets last year, he
- 24:24Speaker 6: had about sixty five targets last year. Is he just
- 24:27Speaker 6: a nothing now? So like I think those kinds of
- 24:31Speaker 6: things should be part of the equation here, Like, how
- 24:36Speaker 6: is this going to impact the roster? It's not You're
- 24:39Speaker 6: going to make fun of me right now when you
- 24:40Speaker 6: deserve to make fun of me, because I'm going to
- 24:42Speaker 6: be hypocritical.
- 24:43Speaker 1: It's not about the best fifty.
- 24:45Speaker 6: Three collecting talent? Is that what you're saying this case,
- 24:49Speaker 6: when you have talent.
- 24:55Speaker 3: In this case is not a question of talent. It's
- 24:57Speaker 3: a question of what kind.
- 24:59Speaker 6: Of Yeah well, I mean reality, Yeah well, I mean,
- 25:02Speaker 6: is there's something we said just would worry about the
- 25:04Speaker 6: year removed from the A C. L That you know,
- 25:06Speaker 6: maybe you didn't even have the digs that you might
- 25:08Speaker 6: have this year, And that he loved it here and
- 25:10Speaker 6: he realized what a special place this was, and.
- 25:12Speaker 1: He really love a lot. I want to side now.
- 25:18Speaker 6: I mean, now that is here, I don't have to
- 25:20Speaker 6: you know, speak from my from my locker every Tuesday.
- 25:24Speaker 6: You know, I can take a little bit of a
- 25:25Speaker 6: step back. The pressure isn't quite as on me.
- 25:27Speaker 1: The same way. I love Drake, I.
- 25:28Speaker 5: Don't know what I honestly don't know what you do.
- 25:31Speaker 5: If they have a J. Brown on one side, they
- 25:33Speaker 5: have Romeo Dobs and Stefon Diggs on the other side,
- 25:36Speaker 5: they have a running game, they have Drake May at quarterback. Like,
- 25:39Speaker 5: I don't know how you stop it. Good luck, Like
- 25:40Speaker 5: that's that's a thirty points per game off.
- 25:42Speaker 3: If your offensive line sucks, that's how you stop it.
- 25:45Speaker 5: Well, if the offensive line stinks, I don't know how
- 25:47Speaker 5: you start.
- 25:47Speaker 6: Agree with Evan football wise, I don't know how you
- 25:50Speaker 6: stop it, but I'll tell you how it gets stopped.
- 25:52Speaker 1: If it does, it's by them.
- 25:53Speaker 6: It gets stopped internally, right Yeah, And that's and I
- 25:56Speaker 6: think that's a very legitimate worry.
- 25:59Speaker 5: And right now, you know, from what we know of
- 26:01Speaker 5: AJ Brown, we we we've heard that he's in Alpha.
- 26:04Speaker 5: We don't know, we don't haven't been around him enough.
- 26:06Speaker 5: And Romeo Dobbs seems like kind of like a quiet
- 26:08Speaker 5: guy mix, and so like right now, everybody kind of
- 26:12Speaker 5: has a role, They understand their role, they have a
- 26:16Speaker 5: hierarchy that makes sense. This would throw a wrench in
- 26:19Speaker 5: all that kind of stuff, Like Romeo Dobbs knows who
- 26:22Speaker 5: he is. AJ Brown knows who he is, Matt Collins
- 26:24Speaker 5: knows what he's supposed to do, Kyle Williams knows what
- 26:27Speaker 5: his role is like. And then yeah, I think Kyle
- 26:30Speaker 5: Williams knows I figured out.
- 26:32Speaker 6: I just loved that we're we literally signed AJ Brown
- 26:35Speaker 6: three days ago and we're already back to.
- 26:37Speaker 1: Like do we need another?
- 26:40Speaker 3: I don't think the only signed A Brown and that
- 26:43Speaker 3: was done. It was we were onto Thiboda.
- 26:45Speaker 5: I think, well, he's unsigned, and this is a guy
- 26:48Speaker 5: that at a thousand yards but that doesn't have an Okay.
- 26:52Speaker 1: What's this is always shiny thing?
- 26:53Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 26:54Speaker 6: Does anybody have any pause in the fact that he's unsigned?
- 26:58Speaker 1: Am I the only one that I thought.
- 26:59Speaker 5: As soon as his legal case was settled in court,
- 27:03Speaker 5: I thought that he would be signed pretty quickly. Now
- 27:06Speaker 5: that the AJ Brown trade has happened, and he's still
- 27:08Speaker 5: not like getting immediately signed as surprising, like just for example,
- 27:12Speaker 5: like I have no idea why the Kansas City chiefs
- 27:14Speaker 5: aren't Why is he not already a Kansas City chief
- 27:18Speaker 5: like that? That to me makes no sense to me
- 27:20Speaker 5: whatsoever looking at their wide receiver room. What's going on
- 27:23Speaker 5: with Rashid Rice, Like this seems like an automatic thing
- 27:26Speaker 5: for them, and yet they don't seem too eager, So like,
- 27:30Speaker 5: what's going on is you know Barth brought up the
- 27:32Speaker 5: point yesterday. Does he just not want to do this
- 27:35Speaker 5: part of the offseason because he's a veteran player and
- 27:37Speaker 5: that tends to happen. You know, the Patriots signed Zeke
- 27:40Speaker 5: Elliott like two weeks into training camp because he didn't
- 27:42Speaker 5: want to do training camp, So like, is there a
- 27:44Speaker 5: chance that he's saying, yeah, I'll sign, but like, I'm
- 27:47Speaker 5: not going to sign until the preseason because I don't
- 27:49Speaker 5: want to do the dog days of training camp? Like
- 27:51Speaker 5: that is that possible? I guess maybe? But like it
- 27:55Speaker 5: it is weird, so.
- 27:58Speaker 3: Interesting, But again, these lines before we got any further, Matt,
- 28:06Speaker 3: do you have next week's schedule? Because off the top
- 28:09Speaker 3: of my head, I know I'll get it wrong, so
- 28:11Speaker 3: I just want to make sure we get that out
- 28:13Speaker 3: there a couple times during this show so people know.
- 28:16Speaker 1: I have it.
- 28:17Speaker 8: Let me just pull the exact email.
- 28:18Speaker 3: Okay, because I want to get that out Have you
- 28:22Speaker 3: made a definitive decision?
- 28:23Speaker 1: No? Do you want me to read them to you? Yeah?
- 28:27Speaker 1: Right right now? What is it?
- 28:28Speaker 8: Tuesday Patriots Unfiltered eleven am to one pm.
- 28:32Speaker 3: Okay, so eleven to one on Tuesday.
- 28:36Speaker 8: Wednesday catch twenty two four pm to six pm.
- 28:40Speaker 5: After practice, okay, Thursday.
- 28:42Speaker 8: Patriots Unfiltered eleven am to one pm or three to
- 28:46Speaker 8: five pm.
- 28:46Speaker 10: You haven't decided, y.
- 28:48Speaker 3: Okay, So we're talking about that, and maybe we can
- 28:50Speaker 3: let the fans way in. If we go eleven to
- 28:53Speaker 3: one on Thursday, we can only talk about Tuesday and
- 28:59Speaker 3: Wednesdays practices, which isn't the worst thing. If we go
- 29:04Speaker 3: three to five on Thursday, we'll have be coming from
- 29:09Speaker 3: the last practice of mini camp, right.
- 29:11Speaker 6: Yea, And we also will be doing I think Mike,
- 29:15Speaker 6: Evan and I will get together following all three.
- 29:19Speaker 1: Days or just the third.
- 29:21Speaker 6: We're going to do the two days Tuesday and Thursday.
- 29:23Speaker 6: Following Tuesdays and Thursday's practice, We're going to do what
- 29:26Speaker 6: we would normally do for our Trading Camp podcast.
- 29:29Speaker 1: Yea. That's a fact.
- 29:32Speaker 3: If we good at eleven to one on Thursday, it
- 29:34Speaker 3: wouldn't mean that you wouldn't hear from us, or at
- 29:37Speaker 3: least from Paul and Mike what happened in practice on Thursday,
- 29:41Speaker 3: they would still do something afterwards, So factor that into
- 29:44Speaker 3: your decision.
- 29:45Speaker 6: Yeah, maybe keep a poll, Paul, you know, get that
- 29:48Speaker 6: going a lot.
- 29:50Speaker 5: Of polls over there from you today of.
- 29:52Speaker 6: A little poll going over here, I think, uh no,
- 29:56Speaker 6: I we might do like just a little on field
- 29:58Speaker 6: thing on Wednesday, because I'm not Wednesday's practice might be
- 30:01Speaker 6: a little a little dialed back and.
- 30:02Speaker 5: That that I didn't know if we wanted to bring
- 30:04Speaker 5: that up. But that was why Thursday morning, like, I
- 30:07Speaker 5: don't know how much Wednesday's practice, how active Wednesday's practice
- 30:12Speaker 5: is going to be, And so then we're really kind
- 30:14Speaker 5: of talking about too.
- 30:14Speaker 3: And if you're wondering, you know, in the past, whether
- 30:16Speaker 3: it was Belichick or d Mayo, whoever, sometimes the third
- 30:20Speaker 3: day of these mini camps they either cut it short
- 30:22Speaker 3: or cut it out completely. I doubt they'll do that
- 30:24Speaker 3: this year since they've lost a week. They've moved up
- 30:29Speaker 3: mini camp from two weeks from now until next week
- 30:33Speaker 3: because of the World Cup. They're not going to be here
- 30:35Speaker 3: after next week, so essentially they've lost you knowing week,
- 30:41Speaker 3: so they probably won't cancel that third day.
- 30:46Speaker 6: That I did it was I did I see San
- 30:47Speaker 6: Francisco canceled there.
- 30:48Speaker 1: There are many camp A lot of teams have canceled
- 30:50Speaker 1: many camps.
- 30:52Speaker 6: Because it's real football, right, Paul.
- 30:54Speaker 5: Yeah, the Rams are doing theirs in Hawaii. I can't
- 30:57Speaker 5: imagine that. That's like really a work way, you.
- 31:00Speaker 1: Know, Fred, you gotta get on.
- 31:02Speaker 5: Why are we going to.
- 31:05Speaker 1: Twelve hours away? Why are they doing that? We all
- 31:08Speaker 1: have I mean I can see it for fun. Yeah,
- 31:11Speaker 1: a lot of money.
- 31:12Speaker 6: I don't know why they're doing it, but it's it's awesome.
- 31:15Speaker 6: I would love it.
- 31:17Speaker 5: There must be some sponsorship involved. I don't I don't
- 31:20Speaker 5: know that the particulars. Oh yeah, Hawaii game, same thing.
- 31:24Speaker 3: Do it at the d Y Football Stadium.
- 31:28Speaker 5: High school. Yeah, I don't know what why they're doing that,
- 31:33Speaker 5: but I heard that they are. I think that's confirmed.
- 31:36Speaker 8: They teamed up with Hawaiian Tourism Authority to boost island
- 31:40Speaker 8: tourism and engage with.
- 31:41Speaker 3: Local There you go, always money and medical community.
- 31:45Speaker 1: Fifty can we can.
- 31:46Speaker 3: They're going to do a Boston.
- 31:50Speaker 1: I went to an I'm in roast Okay, good stuff,
- 31:56Speaker 1: all right.
- 31:58Speaker 3: We got a lot of emails coming in, a lot
- 31:59Speaker 3: of everybody's excited. It's a Thursday in the off season.
- 32:03Speaker 3: But the news keeps coming out of Foxborough.
- 32:07Speaker 5: The news keeps coming out of the whole league, and
- 32:09Speaker 5: this is like the NFL is just active week. What
- 32:12Speaker 5: a juggernaut.
- 32:13Speaker 4: I like it.
- 32:13Speaker 6: Drake London's extension. I was talking about those hundred million
- 32:16Speaker 6: dollar extension. Darnel Washington's not one hundred million. Yeah, this
- 32:20Speaker 6: was a smaller contract. But there's been five or six
- 32:23Speaker 6: guys that were extended in the last two days.
- 32:26Speaker 5: I mean this June first deadline that it beat's like
- 32:28Speaker 5: another mini trade deadline, Like you have a j Brown
- 32:30Speaker 5: and Miles Garrett get traded on a day like that. Yeah,
- 32:34Speaker 5: so another news cycle.
- 32:35Speaker 1: There's always in the now.
- 32:37Speaker 3: Five five past five hundred is the Hotline podcast at
- 32:40Speaker 3: Patriots dot Com. It's the email address. Let's go to
- 32:44Speaker 3: the phones. Anthony's in Seattle. What's up, Anthony? Hey Frey?
- 32:48Speaker 7: What's up my people?
- 32:49Speaker 1: How you guys are doing okay? Doing great?
- 32:52Speaker 4: Hey?
- 32:52Speaker 7: I was I was prompted to call in to day.
- 32:55Speaker 7: I gotta tell you so, du we're continuing to have fun.
- 32:59Speaker 7: You were on this first Man Tuesday's episode. There was
- 33:04Speaker 7: an excitement and like, I know, you guys are professionals,
- 33:07Speaker 7: but you're also human, and I could hear like the
- 33:10Speaker 7: excitement and it was it was just like you guys
- 33:13Speaker 7: were like borderline giddy. And I just thought like, there's
- 33:17Speaker 7: been a growing excitement ever since Brabel has come and
- 33:20Speaker 7: he started to make moves and everything, but I felt
- 33:22Speaker 7: like it all kind of was encapsul encapsulated on Tuesday's
- 33:25Speaker 7: show and then like hearing from Eldred and then hearing
- 33:28Speaker 7: from Willem, Willem.
- 33:29Speaker 11: Was outright giddy.
- 33:30Speaker 7: I mean, the guy, I'm like laughing them listen, I'm like,
- 33:32Speaker 7: this guy is giddy. So this is this is awesome.
- 33:36Speaker 7: One thing that I started kind of thinking about, and
- 33:39Speaker 7: I'm curious if you guys feel the same, is uh,
- 33:42Speaker 7: we've you know, basically since Rabel has come and they've
- 33:46Speaker 7: started to kind of rebuild that we've all kind of
- 33:49Speaker 7: alluded to it in some way or another, looking at
- 33:53Speaker 7: like if this team can continue to build for have
- 33:55Speaker 7: a couple of good off seasons that ideally we were
- 33:58Speaker 7: looking at kind of the twenty twenty seven Patriots as
- 34:01Speaker 7: that kind of quote unquote true contender. We all felt like,
- 34:04Speaker 7: you know, last year was was a you know, Cinderella
- 34:06Speaker 7: run was a head of schedule, even like, you know,
- 34:09Speaker 7: though they got to the Super Bowl, you still felt
- 34:11Speaker 7: they were you know, that was a little bit kind.
- 34:12Speaker 11: Of quote unquote fools goals.
- 34:15Speaker 7: But I'm looking at it now and I'm having to
- 34:17Speaker 7: adjust my thinking with like the addition of buyer it.
- 34:21Speaker 7: Even if that's a one year deal, that's a huge upgrade.
- 34:23Speaker 7: You got the offensive line on paper. You know, Drake
- 34:26Speaker 7: May year two under Josh McDaniel's first time having back
- 34:28Speaker 7: to back offensive coordinators, all these things, and I'm looking
- 34:31Speaker 7: at it now and I'm thinking, you know what, I
- 34:33Speaker 7: think I need to look at the twenty six Patriots
- 34:35Speaker 7: as that I think the window is open now and
- 34:37Speaker 7: that quote unquote true contender. And I mean maybe they'll
- 34:40Speaker 7: be even better in twenty seven. But I think I'm
- 34:43Speaker 7: looking at the twenty sixth Patriots that way now that
- 34:45Speaker 7: I was looking at that hypothetical twenty twenty seventeen.
- 34:48Speaker 11: Curious to know how you guys are feeling. That's all
- 34:49Speaker 11: I got thinks.
- 34:50Speaker 1: All right, thanks?
- 34:51Speaker 6: Yeah, I mean what Evan did you say you think
- 34:53Speaker 6: he's the best roster in the AFC.
- 34:55Speaker 5: Yeah, I mean, I know the Ravens and the Bills
- 34:58Speaker 5: right now are the two favorites ahead of the Patriots
- 35:01Speaker 5: from the betting odds from the Vegas folks, and then
- 35:05Speaker 5: the Chargers in the Patriots are like neck and neck.
- 35:07Speaker 5: As for the third spot, which I find interesting, Like
- 35:12Speaker 5: I guess that's maybe just about their the quarterbacks and
- 35:15Speaker 5: MVPs and whatever. But yeah, it's it's right up there.
- 35:19Speaker 5: I mean, we were talking about it yesterday, and you know,
- 35:22Speaker 5: I think Denver deserves to see that that table too.
- 35:24Speaker 6: Probably Denver is way less respected than even the Patriots are,
- 35:29Speaker 6: And I would actually, for one of the few times,
- 35:31Speaker 6: would actually agree with Patriots fans right now feeling a
- 35:34Speaker 6: little bit slighted because of the sum of the stuff
- 35:37Speaker 6: that Evan said. But like, I don't know, if you
- 35:39Speaker 6: saw the whole FPI thing that ESPN does, the Football
- 35:42Speaker 6: Power Index.
- 35:44Speaker 1: No, I'm not going to lose my mind over it.
- 35:46Speaker 6: But fourteenth, right, fourteenth, like Dallas is ahead of them, Bills.
- 35:51Speaker 1: Were number two.
- 35:52Speaker 6: Yeah, So like, I don't this is not a Buffalo thing.
- 35:55Speaker 6: I think Buffalo's talent has dropped and people haven't really
- 35:59Speaker 6: necessarily come to grips with that.
- 36:02Speaker 1: But fourteen to me seems, you know.
- 36:05Speaker 6: You want to put Buffalo ahead of New Engo in fine,
- 36:07Speaker 6: but there's twelve spots difference between, right that those two
- 36:12Speaker 6: teams they hate. I would say, if you're feeling a
- 36:15Speaker 6: little slighted as a Patriot fan based on some of
- 36:18Speaker 6: that stuff, I could understand it. How do you guys
- 36:21Speaker 6: approach the Ravens and the Bills changing coaches? I mean,
- 36:24Speaker 6: and I you know, it's and I'm trying to think
- 36:26Speaker 6: of another example of you know, maybe John Elway, where
- 36:28Speaker 6: you know, a star quarterback kind of changes regimes in
- 36:31Speaker 6: the middle of their career. How much uncharted territory are
- 36:35Speaker 6: we in with the Bills and Ravens. Is this, you know,
- 36:37Speaker 6: a minor bump in the road. And I just the
- 36:39Speaker 6: Ravens had such a personality under Harbaugh, you knew exactly
- 36:43Speaker 6: kind and they had their ups and downs, but you know,
- 36:45Speaker 6: they certainly have been have been a really good team,
- 36:47Speaker 6: at least in the regular season for the past few years.
- 36:48Speaker 6: And you know, the Bills talent dropping a little bit.
- 36:51Speaker 6: But I just I just feel like there's such a
- 36:53Speaker 6: large element of unknown. And maybe it's not a big
- 36:55Speaker 6: element of unknown, but with the coaches changing, I just
- 36:58Speaker 6: don't know if the.
- 36:59Speaker 5: Whole five it is they changed, but they're they're from
- 37:01Speaker 5: the tree. You know, jesse Minter was.
- 37:05Speaker 6: In and then you're thinking exactly on scheme right now
- 37:07Speaker 6: and I'm just talking general person personality, the coach trickles down.
- 37:12Speaker 5: But it's all this, but they're all from the same tree.
- 37:15Speaker 5: So like they're all like, I don't like the John.
- 37:18Speaker 6: Harbaugh stands up and says the message patricious from.
- 37:22Speaker 5: I'm saying like I'm saying that, I think.
- 37:24Speaker 1: Generally, I think you just you know, thank you.
- 37:27Speaker 3: I mean, what are we doing fresh I'm talking about
- 37:29Speaker 3: when he went to Detroit.
- 37:30Speaker 5: I I just didn't like, I don't Maybe with Joe
- 37:33Speaker 5: Brady it's a little bit different, but I don't really
- 37:36Speaker 5: look at Jesse Minter and John Harbaugh is very different,
- 37:39Speaker 5: like in terms of their demeanors and their personalities. If
- 37:42Speaker 5: we want to do that whole thing. Well, but if
- 37:44Speaker 5: you're a.
- 37:44Speaker 6: Player and I Harbaugh who has had success and won
- 37:47Speaker 6: Super Bowls and now I'm looking at the defensive coordinator
- 37:50Speaker 6: from the Chargers that you know, it's just I know
- 37:52Speaker 6: what you're saying.
- 37:53Speaker 1: With I'm.
- 37:56Speaker 5: Completely out of the out of the family as boy,
- 37:59Speaker 5: where like they're totally reinventing their programs, Like Jesse Minter
- 38:04Speaker 5: is just kind of a younger, more innovative version of
- 38:08Speaker 5: John Harbaugh, and Joe Brady is just like an offensive mind,
- 38:11Speaker 5: but he was with Sean McDermott and under Sean McDermott,
- 38:14Speaker 5: and so like, if they went completely outside of the
- 38:16Speaker 5: family and we're sort of trying to redo the whole thing,
- 38:19Speaker 5: then I would be like, Okay, that's different. But the
- 38:22Speaker 5: GMS are the same people. They're both of the coaches
- 38:24Speaker 5: had coached underneath the previous coach, So like it's not
- 38:27Speaker 5: like it's like a complete departure from the Baltimore Way
- 38:32Speaker 5: or the Buffalo Way or something like that where they
- 38:34Speaker 5: hired a completely different type of guy.
- 38:36Speaker 6: Yeah, I think the GM part of that is relevant
- 38:39Speaker 6: because I do think both teams have sort of stayed
- 38:42Speaker 6: true to their identities that they've had for good, you know,
- 38:44Speaker 6: better or worse. But I like the phrase that you
- 38:47Speaker 6: used about like there's an element of unknown there.
- 38:49Speaker 1: Like absolutely there is.
- 38:51Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 38:51Speaker 1: Yeah, Now I don't know exactly does.
- 38:55Speaker 6: It goal like it did for Chicago and New England
- 38:57Speaker 6: last year, right, or does it go like it did
- 39:00Speaker 6: for one of the teams that hired a new coach
- 39:02Speaker 6: and for the Patriots, you know Aaron Glenn, Yeah, like
- 39:05Speaker 6: does it go away way fit for the Jets, Like
- 39:07Speaker 6: there is an element of unknown because there's no way
- 39:09Speaker 6: to know for sure how a team is gonna you
- 39:11Speaker 6: know how, I agree with with Evan that Jesse Mintor
- 39:15Speaker 6: in particular, I think is kind of cut from a
- 39:18Speaker 6: similar cloth of John Harbaugh, you know, had the Michigan
- 39:22Speaker 6: ties from his brother. I think that they probably are
- 39:25Speaker 6: like minded. He's never been a head coach. Sometimes it
- 39:28Speaker 6: just doesn't work. Sometimes those guys get in front of
- 39:31Speaker 6: the team and they don't really command the room the way.
- 39:32Speaker 1: They did as as That's what I saw this. There
- 39:34Speaker 1: is an element I.
- 39:35Speaker 6: Saw, you know, behind the scenes miked up of him
- 39:38Speaker 6: talking to the team, mint Or talking to the Ravens,
- 39:40Speaker 6: you know, for the first time, and that's exactly you
- 39:42Speaker 6: know what I thought. It's just this is a huge
- 39:44Speaker 6: opportunity for me, and you know, talking about being excited
- 39:46Speaker 6: and all that, and you just you realize how different
- 39:48Speaker 6: it is from this guy's Now what was Harbaugh? They're
- 39:51Speaker 6: like seventeen eighteen, I mean almost twenty years right, Like
- 39:54Speaker 6: walking in with that presence of this guy's been here,
- 39:57Speaker 6: he knows what you know. He has a way that
- 39:59Speaker 6: as a speci teams guy, I guess, But how does
- 40:01Speaker 6: he talk to the offense? Does how does minter oversee
- 40:04Speaker 6: the offense?
- 40:04Speaker 1: Is that different? Does he have input? Does he not
- 40:06Speaker 1: have input?
- 40:07Speaker 6: Always dangerous from organized Yeah, like to make these you know,
- 40:11Speaker 6: you're just you're watching from afar and you're making these
- 40:14Speaker 6: sweeping generalizations.
- 40:15Speaker 1: I would say.
- 40:18Speaker 6: I'd be surprised if this is not a positive move
- 40:20Speaker 6: for Baltimore specifically because based on the stuff that was
- 40:24Speaker 6: coming out of Baltimore last year, there was a lot
- 40:27Speaker 6: of unrest with John Harwall. I think he had sort
- 40:29Speaker 6: of sort of run its course.
- 40:31Speaker 1: Yep.
- 40:31Speaker 6: I think he's probably a good move for the Giants
- 40:33Speaker 6: because I think he gets to sort of reset and
- 40:35Speaker 6: refresh that message. But I think he had grown stale
- 40:38Speaker 6: in Baltimore and there were a lot of there was
- 40:40Speaker 6: a lot of stuff that was coming out about players
- 40:43Speaker 6: not being happy with the way he was doing things.
- 40:45Speaker 3: Oh listen, the way he handled the game we played
- 40:47Speaker 3: against him by not using Henry at the I mean,
- 40:50Speaker 3: thank you.
- 40:50Speaker 1: Come on.
- 40:52Speaker 3: One thing that Anthony from Seattle said that I totally
- 40:55Speaker 3: agree with Is on Tuesday.
- 40:56Speaker 1: Yeah, we were a little giddy.
- 40:58Speaker 3: And the last time I think we were that giddy
- 41:00Speaker 3: about an off season transaction was probably when they signed
- 41:03Speaker 3: Cam Newton. Remember that, And I like, I know it
- 41:06Speaker 3: didn't work out.
- 41:07Speaker 1: I don't even know him anymore, but you remember that.
- 41:09Speaker 1: I totally we.
- 41:10Speaker 3: Were all like, oh my god.
- 41:11Speaker 1: We just like, do you remember when we told Eric.
- 41:15Speaker 6: H Yeah, I mean, and I'd say not specific, but
- 41:17Speaker 6: in twenty one, the overall volume of guys that brought it,
- 41:20Speaker 6: we had to have a special podcast for that. I
- 41:23Speaker 6: kind of made a special point of making sure I
- 41:26Speaker 6: voiced my excitement because I feel like my instinct sometimes
- 41:29Speaker 6: to play it down the middle and you know, not
- 41:31Speaker 6: get to.
- 41:31Speaker 5: But that's like Pabab makes fun of me about A J.
- 41:34Speaker 1: Brown, Like, A J.
- 41:35Speaker 6: Brown has been one of my favorite, if not my
- 41:37Speaker 6: favorite receiver in the league since he came in.
- 41:39Speaker 1: I just it's my kind of guy. And that's why
- 41:41Speaker 1: I make AJ Brown.
- 41:43Speaker 6: Well, no, you know, now, you know like that I
- 41:44Speaker 6: always talk about not wanting the number one receiver and stuff, Well,
- 41:47Speaker 6: A J.
- 41:47Speaker 1: Brown is my favorite one.
- 41:49Speaker 12: You know, a guy, he's your favorite one one, He's
- 41:52Speaker 12: my favorite number one and so to get him even
- 41:55Speaker 12: at this you know point where maybe it's not the
- 41:57Speaker 12: pinnacle just right now, but I just, you know, I
- 41:59Speaker 12: go back to what Josh said because it was kind.
- 42:01Speaker 6: Of the same feeling I had. He's just such a
- 42:02Speaker 6: physical presence out there. He's just he's going to bring
- 42:06Speaker 6: a vibe to this team that I think they already
- 42:09Speaker 6: kind of had a little bit, but he's going to
- 42:10Speaker 6: continue to put that forwardre like they're going to be
- 42:13Speaker 6: tough to play against. I mean, it's just every time
- 42:15Speaker 6: I pull up old AJ Brown clips, it's like, you know,
- 42:18Speaker 6: some guy trying to just like give him the old
- 42:19Speaker 6: two hand and push him out of bounds. Like Nope,
- 42:21Speaker 6: he's going like you cannot take any plays off with
- 42:25Speaker 6: that guy. So it's and I I went out of
- 42:27Speaker 6: my way to make sure like voice my excitement because
- 42:30Speaker 6: I do think this is a really exciting move.
- 42:32Speaker 3: Yeah, let's go to Christian in LA.
- 42:35Speaker 1: What's up Christian.
- 42:39Speaker 11: Guys. Hey you guys, Hey, you guys. So my message
- 42:42Speaker 11: today is not for you guys. It's put Mike brab
- 42:45Speaker 11: and Elliott Wolf. Get back on the phone. Elliott, get
- 42:48Speaker 11: back on the phone.
- 42:49Speaker 3: Okay, why do you think he's not on the phone.
- 42:52Speaker 11: Listen to me. There's there's Javon Thibodau's out there. Don't
- 42:55Speaker 11: get him, dangling him. Yle Pitts is out there. Don't
- 42:58Speaker 11: get him. They're dangling him. I mean, let's I get it.
- 43:01Speaker 11: When you make a big trade, everybody gets giddy and happy.
- 43:05Speaker 11: You know it's a big success. Take my company waits me.
- 43:08Speaker 11: The personal assistant app just put a huge, huge billboard
- 43:11Speaker 11: on forty third and third times square. We're not satisfied.
- 43:15Speaker 11: We're not stopping. So I get the giddiness of getting
- 43:19Speaker 11: a j Brown, But what I don't get is stopping
- 43:22Speaker 11: the push to make us the best team possible.
- 43:24Speaker 1: Who says they stop? Yeah?
- 43:27Speaker 5: I don't know.
- 43:28Speaker 3: Why are you sure? You're you're upset about something that
- 43:31Speaker 3: hasn't happened yet.
- 43:33Speaker 11: We are not in talks to Kavon Tibola. We're not
- 43:35Speaker 11: in talks to Arizona about my.
- 43:39Speaker 3: How do you know? Yes?
- 43:40Speaker 11: But I'm reading aesc in this morning and they're talking
- 43:42Speaker 11: about other teams being in talks and in contact about
- 43:46Speaker 11: Kyle Pitts, Montete Sweats and Kveon Thibodeaux. Why are we
- 43:50Speaker 11: not in those talks? Why did they mention New England.
- 43:52Speaker 3: So you're saying that ESPN has it one hundred percent right.
- 43:55Speaker 3: There isn't a chance that we haven't picked.
- 43:57Speaker 1: Up the phone.
- 43:59Speaker 11: I think when they report certain teams talking to certain
- 44:02Speaker 11: teams about certain players, they probably had some insight.
- 44:06Speaker 3: So did you So did they know they? Did they
- 44:08Speaker 3: know that Miles Garrett was going to the Rams?
- 44:12Speaker 11: I think that was a blockbuster surprise trade, right, of course,
- 44:15Speaker 11: I don't see a blockbuster surprise trade. But Kavon, well,
- 44:17Speaker 11: it wouldn't be.
- 44:18Speaker 3: A block But my point is they don't know everything.
- 44:21Speaker 3: Sometimes teams key with things under wraps. So you know, listen,
- 44:26Speaker 3: if if if they weren't picking up the phone and
- 44:30Speaker 3: lifting every rock, you'd have a right to be upset.
- 44:33Speaker 3: But we don't know that they're not doing that, and
- 44:34Speaker 3: I think they are.
- 44:35Speaker 11: I think I think they Why didn't we report Why
- 44:38Speaker 11: didn't we report that the that the the the Falcons
- 44:41Speaker 11: or dangling Kyle Pitt. Why isn't that part of Patriots News,
- 44:45Speaker 11: Like Okay, we're going out to these guys, We're going
- 44:47Speaker 11: out to that guys, or that they keep everything on
- 44:49Speaker 11: the hat until the last minute.
- 44:50Speaker 3: I don't know, but I think you're you know, I
- 44:54Speaker 3: think you're getting upset about things that we don't know
- 44:57Speaker 3: for sure?
- 44:58Speaker 1: Is a fact? Do you think Kyle Christ never mind?
- 45:06Speaker 3: Sorry, you had to come up with something to be
- 45:10Speaker 3: upset about and bring it to the show, That's fine.
- 45:13Speaker 6: I don't need pits anymore. I mean I would have
- 45:15Speaker 6: probably taken a look at him early.
- 45:16Speaker 1: Now do you think he's a fit?
- 45:19Speaker 6: Like you have a pass catching tight end, You're going
- 45:21Speaker 6: to bring another pass catching tight end. Now, I'm not
- 45:23Speaker 6: going to say that he's maybe not more dynamic than
- 45:25Speaker 6: Hunter Henry.
- 45:26Speaker 1: Of course he is.
- 45:27Speaker 6: But is that what you need or do you need
- 45:30Speaker 6: a guy that's a little bit more physical at the
- 45:31Speaker 6: point of attack would be.
- 45:32Speaker 5: My choice, like Cole Comet, Right, if you want to
- 45:35Speaker 5: get mad about Larison running back, he's physical at the
- 45:41Speaker 5: point of attack.
- 45:43Speaker 1: Fred Fred's gonna gaslight me all summer, I can tell.
- 45:46Speaker 5: But like if you wanted to, if you wanted a
- 45:48Speaker 5: tight end when like a guy like Cole Comett would
- 45:50Speaker 5: be more you know what they're looking for there? You know,
- 45:53Speaker 5: I think Chicago is going to keep all three of
- 45:55Speaker 5: those guys in.
- 45:57Speaker 3: But I don't know.
- 45:57Speaker 6: If you saw Kyle Caleb Williams talking about the tight
- 45:59Speaker 6: end Yeah, got our we talked about all the time
- 46:03Speaker 6: of ye you know, made me think about that matchup
- 46:05Speaker 6: of you know what Patriot's gonna do with some of
- 46:07Speaker 6: these teams, I mean, specifically Chicago that are going to
- 46:10Speaker 6: run multi tight end sets. Do we have you know,
- 46:13Speaker 6: they don't really have multiple safeties they could play. The
- 46:15Speaker 6: linebacker depth is looking pretty thin right now with you know,
- 46:17Speaker 6: kJ Britt, I think too is a little bit of
- 46:19Speaker 6: like an underrated guy who's out right now and it's like,
- 46:22Speaker 6: you know, Spling goes down. You felt okay about Gibbons
- 46:25Speaker 6: last year, but you know, it's just it's like one
- 46:27Speaker 6: of those things where we started to play like this
- 46:29Speaker 6: and that. But I think that's gonna be an interesting
- 46:31Speaker 6: thing this year with Chicago, They're gonna be They're gonna
- 46:33Speaker 6: be tough to stop.
- 46:33Speaker 5: I mean all the teams are. Everybody's loading up on
- 46:36Speaker 5: tight ends and try to do the RAMS thing and
- 46:38Speaker 5: played two plus three plus tight ends at once. And
- 46:41Speaker 5: I sometimes those things happen and it sounds great in theory,
- 46:44Speaker 5: and then you get into the season and other some
- 46:46Speaker 5: teams are more equipped to do it than others, and
- 46:48Speaker 5: then you realize that this isn't really what we thought
- 46:50Speaker 5: it was going to be. We'll see how much it
- 46:52Speaker 5: really holds. But I mean, the draft alone tells you
- 46:55Speaker 5: that there was what eight or nine of them drafted
- 46:57Speaker 5: in the top one hundred and earlier than expected with
- 46:59Speaker 5: some of the those guys.
- 47:00Speaker 6: So they also wonder how much the combination of Sean
- 47:04Speaker 6: mcvay's system, in the presence of Puka and Devant Adams,
- 47:10Speaker 6: you know, you know, with the MVP throwing it to him,
- 47:13Speaker 6: helps those three tight ends, which are all kind of average. Yeah,
- 47:16Speaker 6: they're all good players. They're all you know, Parkinson, you
- 47:19Speaker 6: know that they're good players. I'm not saying they're stiffs.
- 47:23Speaker 1: They're not.
- 47:24Speaker 6: Someone made me laugh on Twitter. They sent me a
- 47:26Speaker 6: picture of the Sonny's car wash.
- 47:28Speaker 1: Did you see that? Great? They're not Sonny's car Wash
- 47:30Speaker 1: all Stars. There are all three.
- 47:32Speaker 6: Good, solid players, but they're not you know. It's it's
- 47:36Speaker 6: it's it's not like George Kittle and Travis Kelcey in
- 47:39Speaker 6: his prime. I think Stafford the system and the presence
- 47:43Speaker 6: of those guys on the outside makes it a little
- 47:45Speaker 6: easy for those three tight ends.
- 47:47Speaker 3: All right, Sabas in North Carolina. What's up Sabbah, Hey there, gentlemen.
- 47:52Speaker 13: As usual, it's a pleasure to listen to you guys.
- 47:54Speaker 13: And I get ready to go to Italy and so.
- 47:57Speaker 1: I'll joy Yeah.
- 48:00Speaker 13: Yeah, we send our kids a head five five days.
- 48:02Speaker 13: All they're doing is arguing stuff I said that will
- 48:04Speaker 13: never happen again. You know, one wants to do one thing,
- 48:06Speaker 13: the other wants to do a thing. I'm like, listen,
- 48:09Speaker 13: you're not even paying for it. Just enjoy it anyhow.
- 48:12Speaker 13: So okay, first thing is all this talk about the
- 48:16Speaker 13: wide receivers and all this giddiness is great, but if
- 48:20Speaker 13: we don't protect Drake May, it doesn't matter. And I
- 48:23Speaker 13: think the left side of the line, I don't know
- 48:25Speaker 13: if it's fixed, but it doesn't look like it's fixed to me.
- 48:27Speaker 13: And I think the defense is going to be like, hey, guys,
- 48:30Speaker 13: let's just disrupt that left side of the line like
- 48:33Speaker 13: blitz from the right. So Drake will do the protections
- 48:36Speaker 13: to the right and then we'll just have one on
- 48:38Speaker 13: one of the left against the left tackle and left
- 48:39Speaker 13: guard that aren't good, and then there goes to play.
- 48:42Speaker 13: So I'm worried about that. And my second question is
- 48:46Speaker 13: you guys got rid of Chase On. I know you
- 48:48Speaker 13: have that big defensive tackle guy, and you have obviously Gonzales,
- 48:53Speaker 13: But who is the defensive like headache causer on the
- 48:58Speaker 13: Patriots that go on this going to disrupt other people's
- 49:02Speaker 13: offense because I'm worried about who that person is going
- 49:05Speaker 13: to be.
- 49:05Speaker 3: Okay, yeah, thank you again.
- 49:06Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean, thank you.
- 49:08Speaker 5: I'm ninety seven in your program.
- 49:11Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean you have to you have to game
- 49:13Speaker 1: plan for him.
- 49:14Speaker 3: Yeah, but you know, I think they've uh not last year,
- 49:18Speaker 3: but they've done had years where you know, sacked by
- 49:22Speaker 3: committee or pressure by committee and it was spread out
- 49:26Speaker 3: and they did fairly well, you know with that scheme,
- 49:29Speaker 3: and I think it's looking to be like that right now. Yeah,
- 49:32Speaker 3: they don't have that one guy on the edge that
- 49:35Speaker 3: you have to game plan for right now.
- 49:37Speaker 1: No.
- 49:37Speaker 5: I mean, Draymond Jones is a solid player. I don't
- 49:39Speaker 5: know if he's quite that guy. I think the big
- 49:41Speaker 5: question with pressure is, you know, in the playoffs their
- 49:44Speaker 5: Blitzer rate increased exponentially compared to the regular season, So
- 49:48Speaker 5: is that sustainable? Was that of product or the offenses
- 49:50Speaker 5: they were playing, you know, shorthanded offensive lines, younger quarterbacks
- 49:54Speaker 5: like things like that, or whether you know, can they
- 49:57Speaker 5: can they do that for seventeen games or is that
- 50:01Speaker 5: not really sustainable or not really the best method possible.
- 50:04Speaker 5: But it seemed like to me last year when they
- 50:07Speaker 5: had to ramp up the pressure, they could send more
- 50:10Speaker 5: guys because they have the corners on the outside that
- 50:13Speaker 5: can cover, so when you need it, you know that
- 50:16Speaker 5: that's there for you. I mean, they signed Vera Tucker
- 50:20Speaker 5: on the left side of the offensive line, and you
- 50:21Speaker 5: hope he's better. So to that point, I think they
- 50:25Speaker 5: did try to get the offensive line better. Now, is
- 50:27Speaker 5: he going to stay healthy?
- 50:28Speaker 1: Wide receiver improvement helps the offensive line?
- 50:32Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, but you know it's not the same left
- 50:35Speaker 5: side as it was in the playoffs last year.
- 50:37Speaker 6: Is you know, you move Wilson in and you replace
- 50:41Speaker 6: them with a you know, by all accounts, an elite
- 50:46Speaker 6: guard in Vera Tucker, so you should be better.
- 50:49Speaker 5: Yeah, but this is why we're talking about Akis and
- 50:51Speaker 5: Thibodeau and all all you know, these guys and Accus. Hopefully,
- 50:55Speaker 5: I don't know if he's going to be the true
- 50:57Speaker 5: game plan changing edge rusher in the pass rush, but
- 51:02Speaker 5: even if he's just another guy on the other side
- 51:04Speaker 5: of Draymond Jones that can you know, get double digit
- 51:07Speaker 5: sacks in a season, then at least you have bookends
- 51:11Speaker 5: that are solid that you can rely on. But that's
- 51:14Speaker 5: the one thing that seems to be the finishing piece
- 51:16Speaker 5: now that they have aj Brown would be a true
- 51:19Speaker 5: sack guy off the edge.
- 51:20Speaker 6: But I still have an eye on the twenty seven
- 51:22Speaker 6: first rounder because I feel like this year, hopefully you
- 51:24Speaker 6: get Gonzalez squared away. Next year you got May squared away.
- 51:28Speaker 6: You know, you have those pieces if it works out,
- 51:31Speaker 6: You've got your left and right tackle squared away. It's
- 51:34Speaker 6: and the receivers. You know, obviously that's ongoing. But I
- 51:37Speaker 6: just look at that last edge spot and I think, sabamis,
- 51:40Speaker 6: you know, a good point. You have good interior rushers,
- 51:42Speaker 6: but you know, do you have real edge threats right now?
- 51:44Speaker 6: And we hope that acuses but it's it's hard not
- 51:48Speaker 6: to look at the roster right now and be like,
- 51:49Speaker 6: all right, well they canna have any juice on the
- 51:51Speaker 6: edge or are they just going to let, you know,
- 51:52Speaker 6: let their offensive tackles handle the edges and be like,
- 51:55Speaker 6: you know, we got to make sure we get the
- 51:56Speaker 6: guys in the middle block don't worry about you know,
- 51:58Speaker 6: their edge rushers. So it's a spot for sure.
- 52:01Speaker 1: I think to focus on.
- 52:02Speaker 3: Justin Wright Sen Christian in La talk with mister Kraft
- 52:04Speaker 3: one time, and now he suddenly knows who the Patriots
- 52:07Speaker 3: are and aren't on the phone with Christian post up
- 52:09Speaker 3: another billboard in Times Square and let Elliott cook. What
- 52:13Speaker 3: does that mean? The Billboard and Times Square?
- 52:15Speaker 6: I don't know. Was that his companies they're not content? Yeah,
- 52:20Speaker 6: they're not not satisfied. He had the whole rants when
- 52:22Speaker 6: you were yelling at.
- 52:23Speaker 3: Him, Oh, Billboard and Times I.
- 52:25Speaker 1: Kind of liked as you played the role of Paul
- 52:27Speaker 1: in that call. All right, that's good.
- 52:29Speaker 3: Uh, Matt and Wichita, you talked about the last time
- 52:32Speaker 3: the PU crew was this excited about a signing earlier
- 52:35Speaker 3: in the show. I know this is impossible to quantify,
- 52:38Speaker 3: but do you remember someone being as excited as it
- 52:41Speaker 3: seems Aj Brown is to be a Patriot. I think
- 52:43Speaker 3: the Patriots are going to get the best version possible
- 52:46Speaker 3: out of a twenty nine year old AJ Brown. Well,
- 52:50Speaker 3: the last time a guy came here that in expressed
- 52:53Speaker 3: true excitement about being a Patriot, I could.
- 52:56Speaker 6: Count on one hand, the guys that didn't express that
- 52:59Speaker 6: kind of excitement when they signed.
- 53:01Speaker 1: Oh seriously, I just never.
- 53:03Speaker 6: Remember a guy with receipts of himself and like a
- 53:05Speaker 6: Patriots jersey as a little kid.
- 53:06Speaker 5: I mean, he was a Patriot.
- 53:07Speaker 1: I never even hear players to talk about.
- 53:09Speaker 6: His older cousin loved the Patriots. The Patriots were the
- 53:12Speaker 6: best team in football. And then he got a Tom
- 53:14Speaker 6: Brady shirt. Like no kidding, he was a Patriot fan
- 53:17Speaker 6: like that, that sort of form it formed his like childhood.
- 53:21Speaker 6: His childhood identity was I root for the best kid.
- 53:24Speaker 6: He was kind of like Fred, I root for the
- 53:26Speaker 6: best team there is in sports. It doesn't matter that
- 53:29Speaker 6: I don't live there.
- 53:30Speaker 5: Yeah, I had that type of like I know, it
- 53:33Speaker 5: excites people, moves people like Milan Williams came in and said,
- 53:36Speaker 5: I hate I hated the Patriots. He's one of their
- 53:38Speaker 5: best players all last year. Like, I don't really know
- 53:41Speaker 5: how much that really, it's just as.
- 53:43Speaker 6: Count of two to here guys who were like I
- 53:44Speaker 6: didn't really watch it all that much, Like I didn't
- 53:45Speaker 6: really have a favorite team, you know. That was like
- 53:47Speaker 6: Matt Matt Light would be an example of that. He
- 53:49Speaker 6: didn't really watch football.
- 53:51Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, Or I remember Judan got asked when he
- 53:54Speaker 5: got signed in twenty twenty one why he.
- 53:55Speaker 1: Would be on a small handful of guy. Yeah, he said.
- 53:59Speaker 5: The question was this is why do you pick the Patriots?
- 54:01Speaker 5: They paid me the most, They paid me.
- 54:02Speaker 1: The most money.
- 54:03Speaker 6: He was one of the few guys that didn't expect
- 54:05Speaker 6: usually when we bring that parade of free agency and oh,
- 54:08Speaker 6: you know, you know Drake May You know, I was
- 54:10Speaker 6: so excited to play with him. Oh and then you
- 54:12Speaker 6: know the Patriots in the organization the way they do think, Oh,
- 54:14Speaker 6: Josh McDaniels has had so much success with it.
- 54:17Speaker 1: There's a lot of excitement.
- 54:19Speaker 6: Do you think that that's real that the Patriots have
- 54:22Speaker 6: been to? How many Super Bowls?
- 54:24Speaker 4: Now?
- 54:24Speaker 6: Twelve, thirteen, eleven, eleventh last track of how many? You know,
- 54:27Speaker 6: most in the league. I mean, there certainly is a
- 54:29Speaker 6: special eleven place. This place is special in terms of
- 54:31Speaker 6: the NFL. But do you think players.
- 54:33Speaker 1: Are real when it?
- 54:35Speaker 6: Does it still have that kind of special place when
- 54:37Speaker 6: new players come in here?
- 54:38Speaker 1: Or is it you know what I mean?
- 54:40Speaker 3: Especially this generation of players now, they grew up as kids,
- 54:45Speaker 3: you know, watching the Patriots.
- 54:47Speaker 1: You know, so I.
- 54:48Speaker 5: Either goes one way or the other though, either hate
- 54:50Speaker 5: them or you love them. Yeah, you know, and a
- 54:52Speaker 5: lot of guys that grew up in this year or
- 54:54Speaker 5: hated the Patriots because they were always in the super
- 54:56Speaker 5: Bowl and they were always winning, and so it was
- 54:58Speaker 5: the other side of it. But I don't know. I mean,
- 55:01Speaker 5: Grenk was from Buffalo, Like he's literally from Buffalo. He
- 55:04Speaker 5: was at a Sabers game, like banging the drum in
- 55:07Speaker 5: the playoff run, like you know, these types of things.
- 55:10Speaker 1: I've been better if the Bills picked him. It was
- 55:14Speaker 1: his child.
- 55:15Speaker 5: I know, it's fun. I know it's a cool like
- 55:17Speaker 5: little like story and connection here with AJ Brown.
- 55:20Speaker 6: But I just love the pictures of like little Antonio Brown,
- 55:23Speaker 6: I mean, sorry A J.
- 55:24Speaker 1: Brown. I'm imagining him. I'm just imagining him.
- 55:27Speaker 6: Like in Pop Warner, you know, like this is the
- 55:28Speaker 6: kid that's just tearing the field apart with this big
- 55:30Speaker 6: smile on his face.
- 55:31Speaker 5: They probably would have been better than some of the
- 55:33Speaker 5: receivers they had, and.
- 55:35Speaker 3: Brad writes in a little bit of a Debbie down here,
- 55:38Speaker 3: with the addition of AJ Brown, the Patriots wide receiver
- 55:41Speaker 3: room is undoubtedly better, But where exactly does the value
- 55:44Speaker 3: come from. Most There's no doubt that A. J. Brown
- 55:47Speaker 3: is an upgrade from Stefan Diggs.
- 55:49Speaker 1: But with Diggs.
- 55:49Speaker 3: Already being a one thousand yard receiver and AJ Brown
- 55:53Speaker 3: only expected to get a couple hundred yards more than that,
- 55:56Speaker 3: is it really that much of an upgrade or would
- 55:58Speaker 3: you say that there is more value in the number
- 56:01Speaker 3: two receiver upgrade from Booty to Dobbs.
- 56:04Speaker 6: If he gets a couple one hundred more than that,
- 56:06Speaker 6: that's a significant upgrade like that, that's a big difference.
- 56:11Speaker 6: Twelve hundred to one thousand, that's a big difference. I
- 56:14Speaker 6: don't think that's a significant upgrade. By the way, Brown
- 56:17Speaker 6: over Diggs last year. I think they're completely different players,
- 56:20Speaker 6: and I think he the reason I'm excited about Brown
- 56:23Speaker 6: is because of what Mike and Ever have been talking
- 56:25Speaker 6: about for two shows now. It's like having such a
- 56:28Speaker 6: different kind of player who I think really fits well
- 56:31Speaker 6: with what Drake may does. Mike talks about the physicality
- 56:34Speaker 6: after the catch. Those are things that Diggs didn't provide.
- 56:37Speaker 6: But in terms of just flat out players, Diggs has
- 56:40Speaker 6: had a better career. Diggs is a better player, and
- 56:43Speaker 6: last year they had almost identical numbers.
- 56:48Speaker 5: I think that from a x's a nose standpoint, it's
- 56:51Speaker 5: harder to defend the true X than it is.
- 56:55Speaker 1: I think it makes more sense to have Brown than Diggs. Well, yeah,
- 56:58Speaker 1: totally agree.
- 56:59Speaker 3: When you talk about the addition, it's like Brown's over here,
- 57:02Speaker 3: He's an addition you're really looking at. Is there a
- 57:05Speaker 3: drop off from Dobbs to Digs?
- 57:08Speaker 5: That's how I would look at it.
- 57:09Speaker 6: Yeah, And what I would worry about is what Mike
- 57:11Speaker 6: gray Bowl has talked about a couple of times this offseason.
- 57:15Speaker 6: It's not the numbers per se, it's the efficiency. And
- 57:19Speaker 6: there was a remarkable efficiency when they threw the ball
- 57:22Speaker 6: to Stefan Diggs last year.
- 57:24Speaker 1: I think it was like, did you get eighty five
- 57:26Speaker 1: catch up? It was eighty five eighty five for one
- 57:30Speaker 1: oh two.
- 57:30Speaker 5: I think I want to say it was like eighty
- 57:31Speaker 5: three percent eighty three percent of his.
- 57:34Speaker 6: I mean, that's a remarkable efficiency that is going to
- 57:36Speaker 6: be awfully difficult to duplicate for anybody, let alone someone's
- 57:40Speaker 6: coming in New h That's that's.
- 57:43Speaker 1: Jeffrey and Canada rights in for veteran players.
- 57:46Speaker 3: Is there any actual value in OTA's in mini camp
- 57:49Speaker 3: it kind of seems like a waste of time for them.
- 57:51Speaker 3: I think our cornerbacks will be exactly the same this
- 57:53Speaker 3: season if they do or don't go to mini caamp
- 57:56Speaker 3: rookies maybe new to the team players, but even that
- 57:59Speaker 3: seems like a stretch. Kevin Byard knows how to play football.
- 58:02Speaker 3: Is a mini camp really making any difference in his season?
- 58:05Speaker 3: My theory is the OTAs in mini camps really is
- 58:08Speaker 3: just another source of content for the NFL, which insists
- 58:12Speaker 3: on trying to be relevant twelve months a year, and
- 58:14Speaker 3: of course we as fans come running to the feeding trough.
- 58:19Speaker 1: I disagree.
- 58:19Speaker 5: I couldn't disagree more.
- 58:21Speaker 1: Yeah, I disagree.
- 58:22Speaker 5: Yeah, I mean from a communications standpoint, like Kevin Byard
- 58:25Speaker 5: has never played with Craig Woodson, He's never played with
- 58:27Speaker 5: Christian Gonzales, Carlon Davis, Marcus Jones, Robert Spellane. Like maybe
- 58:32Speaker 5: these guys overlapped, maybe briefly.
- 58:34Speaker 3: Here's the evidence of whether it's value. We've seen the
- 58:37Speaker 3: guys that come in late or for miss it because
- 58:41Speaker 3: of injury, whatever, they get behind, and even in training
- 58:45Speaker 3: camp they're clearly behind because they weren't here in the spring.
- 58:48Speaker 5: Yeah, so passing games standpointed offensively to timing with the quarterback,
- 58:53Speaker 5: like yeah, you know, understanding with the quarterback. Like I
- 58:56Speaker 5: think we've seen a little bit of growing pains with
- 58:58Speaker 5: Drake Man Remeo Dobbs already, where like there's just little
- 59:02Speaker 5: little ball placement things and like I want the ball
- 59:05Speaker 5: here instead of you know, on this shoulder, put it,
- 59:07Speaker 5: you know, on me, or instead of in front of me,
- 59:10Speaker 5: put it behind me a little bit here or whatever.
- 59:12Speaker 5: But like really the communication on defense of we're getting
- 59:18Speaker 5: this motion or this check or this bunch or this look,
- 59:20Speaker 5: and how are we answering it, Like what's what's our check,
- 59:24Speaker 5: what's our alert, what's our you know indicator here all
- 59:28Speaker 5: these different types of things. Is that they build that
- 59:31Speaker 5: menu this time of year so that when they get
- 59:33Speaker 5: into training camp they can compete and they can get
- 59:36Speaker 5: ready for the season.
- 59:37Speaker 1: The power of friendship time here.
- 59:38Speaker 6: Two, I think the coaches put value in that of
- 59:40Speaker 6: you know, the little activities they do. And then we
- 59:41Speaker 6: posted a video today of them, you know, rescuing pat patriot.
- 59:45Speaker 6: But I think that's this is a time when you're
- 59:46Speaker 6: not under the gun of the NFL season. It's not
- 59:48Speaker 6: that relentless schedule that you experience, you get to know
- 59:51Speaker 6: your teammates a little bit as well. Off the field,
- 59:53Speaker 6: you do some fun stuff together, you know, you start
- 59:55Speaker 6: to get to know these guys that you're going to
- 59:57Speaker 6: be playing with and going through tough times. I don't
- 59:59Speaker 6: know how important or not it is, but I would
- 1:00:03Speaker 6: just say that the consensus around the league from people
- 1:00:07Speaker 6: watch and follow the league is that the level of
- 1:00:10Speaker 6: play at the beginning of the regular season is often down.
- 1:00:14Speaker 6: And the reason for that, a lot of people say
- 1:00:17Speaker 6: is because of the lack of practice time, lack of
- 1:00:20Speaker 6: hitting and training camp, lack of these you know, these OTAs.
- 1:00:23Speaker 6: And he goes back to twenty eleven when they had
- 1:00:26Speaker 6: the changes in the offseason rules with the new CBA
- 1:00:31Speaker 6: that people started to complain about. Say, as an example,
- 1:00:34Speaker 6: there's no offensive lineman in the league because there's no
- 1:00:36Speaker 6: way to simulate offensive line play without pads, and they
- 1:00:38Speaker 6: don't get enough work. And so I don't think you
- 1:00:41Speaker 6: can say all those things about well, September is really
- 1:00:44Speaker 6: just an extension of the preseason because no one's really
- 1:00:46Speaker 6: ready to play, and at the same time say, well,
- 1:00:50Speaker 6: it's not really anything to begetting now do does a
- 1:00:52Speaker 6: ten year veteran need to be at OTAs. No, now
- 1:00:56Speaker 6: does it help Kevin Byerd for the reasons that Evan
- 1:00:58Speaker 6: said as the first time you with with of course,
- 1:01:02Speaker 6: But I understand the guy's point about it's you know,
- 1:01:05Speaker 6: like I don't necessarily think Christian Gonzales, as an example,
- 1:01:09Speaker 6: was losing a whole lot not being out.
- 1:01:10Speaker 1: There every day. But isn't it better to be there
- 1:01:13Speaker 1: than not?
- 1:01:13Speaker 5: Yeah, I don't think that they're losing anything from a
- 1:01:16Speaker 5: like Gonzalez is not gonna have a bad season because
- 1:01:18Speaker 5: he wasn't at OTAs. But I think that a lot
- 1:01:21Speaker 5: of the communication things is important. Like we were out
- 1:01:23Speaker 5: there on Tuesday and you know, they hit Pop on
- 1:01:27Speaker 5: a coverage bus over on the left sideline and he
- 1:01:30Speaker 5: came into like a little bit of a motion. It
- 1:01:32Speaker 5: formed a stack. The two corners were on different pages.
- 1:01:34Speaker 5: They both covered the same guy. You know, let's let
- 1:01:37Speaker 5: that happen now so that in the AFC Championship game
- 1:01:40Speaker 5: it doesn't happen, right, Like, those are the types of things.
- 1:01:43Speaker 5: And then you come together and you have talks, and
- 1:01:45Speaker 5: you go back into the film room after practice and
- 1:01:49Speaker 5: you go through the plays of practice and you talk
- 1:01:51Speaker 5: about you know, what did you see? What did you see?
- 1:01:53Speaker 5: What do we want to do here? Like, that's what
- 1:01:55Speaker 5: this time of year is about. It's mental. It's not physical.
- 1:01:58Speaker 5: It's not like Zales is not going to be good
- 1:02:01Speaker 5: enough because he didn't play in OTAs. It's the mental stuff.
- 1:02:05Speaker 1: Okay.
- 1:02:06Speaker 6: Is this your birthday, Paul, Happy birthday, Happy birthday.
- 1:02:11Speaker 3: Thord Or has the same birthday, so he's wishing you
- 1:02:14Speaker 3: a happy birthday and happy birthday.
- 1:02:16Speaker 1: To you as well.
- 1:02:17Speaker 3: Thank you, really really happy about the aj Brown trade.
- 1:02:20Speaker 3: But do you feel like we need to upgrade the defense?
- 1:02:23Speaker 3: And would you swap a twenty twenty seven first round
- 1:02:26Speaker 3: pick and a twenty twenty eight second round pick for
- 1:02:28Speaker 3: Max Crosby.
- 1:02:31Speaker 6: I would not have them picks.
- 1:02:34Speaker 5: Me and deuced would have nothing to do with that.
- 1:02:36Speaker 1: Now you don't have more drafts for two straight years.
- 1:02:39Speaker 5: We have a big board that starts in the third round.
- 1:02:42Speaker 6: I probably wouldn't because I don't. Yeah, I probably wouldn't.
- 1:02:46Speaker 6: I'd be a little worried about now you have two
- 1:02:49Speaker 6: major acquisitions with knee issues.
- 1:02:52Speaker 5: And older Yeah.
- 1:02:53Speaker 6: Yeah, yeah, I'd like to just hope Backus can develop
- 1:02:56Speaker 6: into something okay, building.
- 1:02:58Speaker 5: I know, I feel like I'd feel a lot better
- 1:03:00Speaker 5: about this if Accus had been practicing this whole time
- 1:03:02Speaker 5: and like looked the part and was, you know, wearing
- 1:03:05Speaker 5: the suit correctly. But because we don't know that such
- 1:03:08Speaker 5: a major unknown, like whatever you get out of Harold Landry,
- 1:03:11Speaker 5: I feel like is kind of a bonus this year.
- 1:03:14Speaker 5: I'm not really expecting much. Yes, like if Acus is
- 1:03:17Speaker 5: not what we all think he is, especially Deuce and I,
- 1:03:21Speaker 5: then you know, I don't.
- 1:03:23Speaker 3: Know, Uh David is in Florida.
- 1:03:25Speaker 1: What's up, David?
- 1:03:27Speaker 11: Hey guys, what's going good?
- 1:03:30Speaker 4: Uh?
- 1:03:31Speaker 14: So, first, I didn't know it was your birthday, Paul,
- 1:03:32Speaker 14: Happy birthday.
- 1:03:33Speaker 1: Thank you, sir. Put that on your phone.
- 1:03:36Speaker 14: So I just had two things. The first thing is
- 1:03:40Speaker 14: a quick one. There's I guess there's a lot of
- 1:03:42Speaker 14: rumors about uh Diggs maybe coming back. I don't personally
- 1:03:45Speaker 14: carefully bring him back, but I was just wondering if
- 1:03:47Speaker 14: you think there's any smoke to that, and if there is,
- 1:03:50Speaker 14: do you think that that's like how does that fit schematically?
- 1:03:53Speaker 14: Like is it realistic?
- 1:03:54Speaker 1: I guess you missed the hour of the show. Yeah,
- 1:03:56Speaker 1: I would listen to Evan.
- 1:03:58Speaker 5: I'm gonna mention that a.
- 1:04:01Speaker 6: Very very well, earlier in the show about you know,
- 1:04:05Speaker 6: the roles, just solidifying Brown on the outside. Dobbs is
- 1:04:09Speaker 6: sort of like a flanker, and then Diggs is a
- 1:04:11Speaker 6: pure slot and I think it's three very different kind
- 1:04:14Speaker 6: of things.
- 1:04:15Speaker 1: Yeah, we broke it down.
- 1:04:16Speaker 6: Go back and listen to the beginning, because Evan did
- 1:04:18Speaker 6: it a lot more in depth than that.
- 1:04:21Speaker 14: I'll listen to that. But my other thing was, it
- 1:04:24Speaker 14: seems to be like a four gone conclusion to everybody
- 1:04:26Speaker 14: that we're going to regrets this year. There's gonna be
- 1:04:28Speaker 14: some form of regression. And I believe that with the
- 1:04:31Speaker 14: record maybe, but I was wondering if you still believe
- 1:04:34Speaker 14: that with Drake may because you know, do you guys
- 1:04:37Speaker 14: think it's not likely that he passes five thousand passing
- 1:04:40Speaker 14: yards or doesn't throw for forty touchdowns? Like what does
- 1:04:44Speaker 14: that look like? And do you think he could have a.
- 1:04:45Speaker 5: Better Nobody threw for five thousand year, So yeah, that's
- 1:04:49Speaker 5: a high number.
- 1:04:50Speaker 3: Don't go by the numbers this year. For me, it's
- 1:04:53Speaker 3: really how is he in critical situations? How is he
- 1:04:56Speaker 3: against the better defenses? That's what you're looking at. What
- 1:05:00Speaker 3: you're looking I agree, Yeah, Yeah, it's funny. I think
- 1:05:03Speaker 3: it was you, Paul, What was it, Evan? I don't
- 1:05:05Speaker 3: know one of you guys, I was talking to you.
- 1:05:06Speaker 6: I think it was a was about we're saying, like,
- 1:05:09Speaker 6: you know, now that we've got more of a sample
- 1:05:11Speaker 6: sized Drake, it was Devin.
- 1:05:13Speaker 1: You know, we're saying you kind of know when he's
- 1:05:15Speaker 1: feeling it.
- 1:05:16Speaker 6: You know, it's kind of obvious when Drake's feeling He's
- 1:05:19Speaker 6: a rhythm player, you know, so that's like, how do
- 1:05:22Speaker 6: you get him into that rhythm consistently and keep them
- 1:05:25Speaker 6: there and avoid those games where you know it felt
- 1:05:28Speaker 6: like it was a little bit all right.
- 1:05:29Speaker 3: Well, take a break. We've been doing this for over

- 1:07:51Speaker 4: Hey guys, how are you great? Just a couple of
- 1:07:56Speaker 4: housekeeping items here? Hold on, Karen, So Doug Maroon is
- 1:08:02Speaker 4: going to get his knee cleaned up? Okay, we work
- 1:08:04Speaker 4: our coaches pretty hard here, just like our players, and
- 1:08:10Speaker 4: so I think it's best is to have that done
- 1:08:12Speaker 4: now so that Doug will be ready to go for
- 1:08:15Speaker 4: training camp. And there won't be any setback. So if
- 1:08:17Speaker 4: you don't see Doug out there, that's what's going on there.
- 1:08:21Speaker 4: We have moved, after some deliberation, the mandatory mini camp
- 1:08:28Speaker 4: to next week June ninth, tenth, and eleventh. That'll give
- 1:08:32Speaker 4: us you know, Monday to clean up a couple of
- 1:08:35Speaker 4: physicals on some guys that weren't here previously, and then
- 1:08:41Speaker 4: three days of really good work there and then that
- 1:08:45Speaker 4: will conclude, you know, the veteran offseason program. Will have
- 1:08:48Speaker 4: the rookies for a little bit of time after that,
- 1:08:52Speaker 4: and joint practices so as well as those worked out
- 1:08:59Speaker 4: last year, certainly the one day with the commanders here
- 1:09:04Speaker 4: and then traveling to Minnesota. We'll have Indianapolis on the
- 1:09:08Speaker 4: eleventh on August eleventh, which will be you know, this
- 1:09:13Speaker 4: very good team to go against. This a very good
- 1:09:16Speaker 4: offensive football team, Shane's excellent offensive coach and excellent head coach,
- 1:09:21Speaker 4: but very good offensive line versatility on their defense, so
- 1:09:26Speaker 4: that'll be an important day for us. And then Philadelphia
- 1:09:29Speaker 4: will come here for the eighteenth and nineteenth excuse me,
- 1:09:32Speaker 4: nineteenth and twentieth of August, so that allow us to
- 1:09:37Speaker 4: work against an accomplished football team that's used to winning
- 1:09:42Speaker 4: and has a very good football team and great great
- 1:09:45Speaker 4: players and well coached the last item or yeah, Julia, Hi, Julia, congratulations.
- 1:09:56Speaker 4: So Julia just decided to dabble in a marathon in
- 1:09:59Speaker 4: Oregon and ran it in two hours and fifty minutes
- 1:10:03Speaker 4: in two seconds. Yeah, I know, and and one, So
- 1:10:08Speaker 4: congratulations Julie. I don't keep those things a secret. So
- 1:10:16Speaker 4: she went and dabbled in a marathon and won. What
- 1:10:21Speaker 4: do you got care.
- 1:10:24Speaker 17: Given your relationship with aj Brown, knowing him as a
- 1:10:28Speaker 17: personal player, how important uh was it.
- 1:10:34Speaker 1: For you to make that deal happen?
- 1:10:36Speaker 9: Well?
- 1:10:36Speaker 4: Not important? I mean again, I think that just trying
- 1:10:40Speaker 4: to improve our football team every possible way, you know,
- 1:10:45Speaker 4: give our offense multiple weapons to build on what we
- 1:10:48Speaker 4: did last year. And I think having you know, experience
- 1:10:54Speaker 4: with the person you know to be able to add
- 1:10:57Speaker 4: an accomplished NFL football player, receiver, premium player at his position.
- 1:11:02Speaker 4: But somebody that that we also don't feel strongly about
- 1:11:05Speaker 4: as as a person and a competitor as a teammate.
- 1:11:09Speaker 4: You know, I appreciate Elliott for for being able to
- 1:11:12Speaker 4: work and get that done.
- 1:11:14Speaker 6: Knowing did Jim more like what makes him such a
- 1:11:17Speaker 6: special wide receiver.
- 1:11:19Speaker 4: I think he loves football. I think that he has
- 1:11:23Speaker 4: a physical skill set. I think he's got great body control.
- 1:11:26Speaker 4: I think he's strong at the catch point. But I
- 1:11:27Speaker 4: also think he as he's grown as as a as
- 1:11:31Speaker 4: a player and as a receiver, just the nuances of
- 1:11:36Speaker 4: you know, releases versus press or playing verse bracketed coverages
- 1:11:40Speaker 4: or zone coverages, plays physical with the football and you know,
- 1:11:46Speaker 4: again has has been productive and a consistent player.
- 1:11:50Speaker 3: You coached him?
- 1:11:51Speaker 6: Did did a j ever tell you that he was
- 1:11:53Speaker 6: a Patriots fan?
- 1:11:55Speaker 4: But I think that that was known in a long time,
- 1:11:57Speaker 4: you know. I mean I think I knew that, you know.
- 1:11:59Speaker 4: I mean I think he showed me pictures when he
- 1:12:00Speaker 4: was a little kid wearing my jersey and stuff like
- 1:12:02Speaker 4: that that that he didn't wear. Yeah, I mean I
- 1:12:08Speaker 4: think I knew that just from the time that he
- 1:12:11Speaker 4: you know, like when I think when we drafted him,
- 1:12:13Speaker 4: he was like, I wish the Patriots drafted me, and
- 1:12:15Speaker 4: I said, well that's that didn't happen. You know, we
- 1:12:17Speaker 4: the Titans drafted. So you know, I think that you know,
- 1:12:22Speaker 4: there's a you know, the success that this team had
- 1:12:24Speaker 4: and in those years when you know, a lot of
- 1:12:27Speaker 4: our players were growing up. You know, it would be
- 1:12:30Speaker 4: easy to to root for a lot of players that
- 1:12:33Speaker 4: played for this team in the you know, early two thousands.
- 1:12:37Speaker 18: He had a multuous time in Gohadelphia production and success
- 1:12:42Speaker 18: they had.
- 1:12:43Speaker 4: Why that won't uh well, I mean again, whatever happens
- 1:12:48Speaker 4: or comes up, I think that I can't say that
- 1:12:52Speaker 4: there's not going to be things that come up with
- 1:12:54Speaker 4: with aj with you know, any single player, right. I
- 1:12:59Speaker 4: think that this is a competitive game. Highly competitive players
- 1:13:03Speaker 4: want to win. Players want to do everything that they
- 1:13:06Speaker 4: can to help their team. They want to make sure
- 1:13:07Speaker 4: that people are on the right page. So I don't
- 1:13:11Speaker 4: I don't get into a lot of that. I think
- 1:13:13Speaker 4: what's the most important is that you know, those things
- 1:13:16Speaker 4: don't carry into the to the locker room, that they
- 1:13:19Speaker 4: get handled, and you see that all the time. On
- 1:13:21Speaker 4: the sidelines. We want to have conversations in a meeting room,
- 1:13:24Speaker 4: we want to have conversations at practice, and you know,
- 1:13:29Speaker 4: some sign those conversations are animated, but it's all in
- 1:13:32Speaker 4: the sake of trying to get on the same page
- 1:13:34Speaker 4: and get right. So, you know, again, I don't know
- 1:13:38Speaker 4: what happened. I'm not I'm not trying to figure out
- 1:13:40Speaker 4: what happened in Philadelphia. I'm trying to focus on what's
- 1:13:44Speaker 4: going to happen here UH and trying to get him
- 1:13:47Speaker 4: acclimated to to what we do and how we do it.
- 1:13:49Speaker 18: Like there's a lot of reporting about having a degenerative
- 1:13:53Speaker 18: n condition. You're obviously comfortable enough to make the trade
- 1:13:55Speaker 18: for him, but is that something because of your past
- 1:13:57Speaker 18: history you gained a little more comfort and you have
- 1:14:00Speaker 18: to manage this player though going forward.
- 1:14:03Speaker 4: When you get to talk about ninety guys or ninety
- 1:14:06Speaker 4: one guys, there's going to be a different plan for
- 1:14:08Speaker 4: for every single guy. And again, I think that looking
- 1:14:12Speaker 4: at the body of work and the availability that he's
- 1:14:16Speaker 4: been able to have and whether we have to manage
- 1:14:19Speaker 4: him or anybody else. It's a long season, so you know,
- 1:14:22Speaker 4: there'll be things that we'll have to deal with and
- 1:14:26Speaker 4: we'll try to do that accordingly. But you know, just
- 1:14:28Speaker 4: based on looking at you know, his his availability in
- 1:14:32Speaker 4: the games that he's been able to play in UH
- 1:14:35Speaker 4: and be there for his team, I think that hopefully,
- 1:14:38Speaker 4: you know, leads to to future availability. You know about
- 1:14:43Speaker 4: a j that you hope we and his teammates learn
- 1:14:46Speaker 4: about him, that he that he loves football, that he
- 1:14:49Speaker 4: cares about his team. I think he is uh, you know, knowledgeable,
- 1:14:55Speaker 4: and you know again, I think that he doesn't have
- 1:15:00Speaker 4: have to prove anything to anybody. Nobody does. They have
- 1:15:02Speaker 4: to go out there and practice, They have to know
- 1:15:03Speaker 4: what to do, they have to play to a certain identity,
- 1:15:06Speaker 4: uh and and do their job and and focus on that.
- 1:15:09Speaker 4: Nobody needs to to do anything that's you know, outside
- 1:15:13Speaker 4: of what we've ever asked any of our players to do.
- 1:15:15Speaker 4: And I'm confident that he'll do that. And you know,
- 1:15:19Speaker 4: he's humble, you know that these are I'm excited to
- 1:15:22Speaker 4: have him get to know our players, and our players
- 1:15:25Speaker 4: get to know him and everybody else as we work
- 1:15:27Speaker 4: through the last couple of weeks here.
- 1:15:29Speaker 6: To play under the contract that he had with the Egos.
- 1:15:34Speaker 4: I mean been here a day, so, I mean the
- 1:15:37Speaker 4: plan is for him to practice and try to get acclimated.
- 1:15:42Speaker 4: You know, I don't I don't see anything that would
- 1:15:46Speaker 4: preclude him from doing that. I mean, right now, I'm again,
- 1:15:49Speaker 4: I just excited to add the player and know the
- 1:15:51Speaker 4: football team is looking forward to having them and practice
- 1:15:57Speaker 4: and get acclimated and whatever that looks like today. So
- 1:16:01Speaker 4: you know, by all accounts, you know he's ready to go.
- 1:16:04Speaker 16: As as he gave up a first round you gave
- 1:16:06Speaker 16: up a first round pick to get him.
- 1:16:08Speaker 4: Do you view this as a win now? Move? We
- 1:16:11Speaker 4: have to We have to win. That's our job is
- 1:16:13Speaker 4: to win, you know, that's the job and responsibility and
- 1:16:17Speaker 4: the expectations in the National Football League. It's not to
- 1:16:21Speaker 4: go four and thirteen two years in a row, if
- 1:16:23Speaker 4: that's what you mean. Chilian won't be able to play
- 1:16:31Speaker 4: the season playing, so devastating all I really enjoyed the
- 1:16:38Speaker 4: person and I want to have him around here as
- 1:16:42Speaker 4: much as we possibly can, but uh did just because
- 1:16:44Speaker 4: he wouldn't be able to play this season. So you know,
- 1:16:50Speaker 4: that's just disappointing because of just the impact that he
- 1:16:55Speaker 4: made in a short amount of time with his teammates
- 1:16:58Speaker 4: and then just the person that he is, the way
- 1:16:59Speaker 4: that he practiced, and you know, so again we'll we
- 1:17:03Speaker 4: want joining to be a part of us as much
- 1:17:04Speaker 4: as possiblely, just not going to do that on the
- 1:17:06Speaker 4: field this year.
- 1:17:09Speaker 1: That's something happened to practice.
- 1:17:10Speaker 4: That was something that happened in practice.
- 1:17:12Speaker 17: Yes, already, take his physical that he passes, so and
- 1:17:17Speaker 17: what do you expect from his practice?
- 1:17:18Speaker 1: It's uh, just patients today.
- 1:17:21Speaker 4: Yep. AJ passed the physical and well we'll be out
- 1:17:24Speaker 4: there in some capacity. We'll have to monitor it, you know,
- 1:17:30Speaker 4: just because he hasn't been with us, and so I
- 1:17:32Speaker 4: think it's important that that we do that, but also
- 1:17:35Speaker 4: important that he'd be out there and kind of see
- 1:17:37Speaker 4: how we do things. There's I'm sure there's thirty two
- 1:17:40Speaker 4: different stretching routines and thirty two different individuals and you
- 1:17:43Speaker 4: know kind of where everything goes. And I think that's
- 1:17:46Speaker 4: important process too. And hopefully he can, you know, no
- 1:17:50Speaker 4: enough to line up and and take some snaps in
- 1:17:53Speaker 4: some of the team periods as well. I believe it
- 1:17:58Speaker 4: was last year with the Eagles.
- 1:17:59Speaker 1: You mentioned the intelligence.
- 1:18:00Speaker 4: Do you see him as more of an ex in
- 1:18:01Speaker 4: your system or more of a chess piece of you
- 1:18:03Speaker 4: like I mean, I think all the guys right now
- 1:18:04Speaker 4: are going to learn a lot of the different positions.
- 1:18:06Speaker 4: I think that the ones that have been here. That's
- 1:18:09Speaker 4: how Todd's tried to install the offense, is to know
- 1:18:13Speaker 4: what each player has on each concept and learn it
- 1:18:16Speaker 4: that way. And I would imagine that Aj would would
- 1:18:19Speaker 4: do the same and give the give guys the ability
- 1:18:23Speaker 4: to line inside Kyle or line outside and you use
- 1:18:27Speaker 4: you know, Romeo inside. So I think to try to
- 1:18:32Speaker 4: just right now, he's going to have to learn one
- 1:18:33Speaker 4: position and I would imagine that's going to be outside,
- 1:18:36Speaker 4: But as that grows, I know that that will be
- 1:18:39Speaker 4: you know, across the board, and I think that that's
- 1:18:40Speaker 4: hopefully something that he's looking forward to do. But you
- 1:18:43Speaker 4: have to learn one before you can learn them all.
- 1:18:46Speaker 17: With the event with Drake the other day, what was
- 1:18:50Speaker 17: it like to just see the team come together in
- 1:18:52Speaker 17: that way and show support and also kind of have
- 1:18:55Speaker 17: that low competitiveness but also just the camaraderie.
- 1:18:58Speaker 9: Of the team.
- 1:18:58Speaker 4: Well, you know, I think it just speaks volumes to
- 1:19:02Speaker 4: to Drake and and Michael just the people that they
- 1:19:04Speaker 4: are to to organize something like that for the fans
- 1:19:08Speaker 4: and you know where it was and the amount of
- 1:19:10Speaker 4: the families that were out there, that's ten thousand people
- 1:19:13Speaker 4: and I would say most of them were families.
- 1:19:16Speaker 11: Uh.
- 1:19:16Speaker 4: The support that he got from from the players, and
- 1:19:19Speaker 4: I could imagine when they saw that it may rain
- 1:19:21Speaker 4: and guys could have could have bailed on them, and
- 1:19:24Speaker 4: I think it was just an amazing night, a fun night,
- 1:19:27Speaker 4: a little bit of competitive. Some guys that I thought
- 1:19:30Speaker 4: were better at Marcus Jones played a hell of a
- 1:19:32Speaker 4: second base and you know, I was pretty impressed, and
- 1:19:37Speaker 4: I think the guys had a good time and it
- 1:19:39Speaker 4: was for a great cause.
- 1:19:42Speaker 17: Christian, at one point, did your competitiveness.
- 1:19:44Speaker 7: Come out a little bit?
- 1:19:45Speaker 4: No, I was not. I was trying to coach. And
- 1:19:47Speaker 4: you know, we the umpires were not interested in any
- 1:19:50Speaker 4: of our replays that that we thought. You know, at
- 1:19:53Speaker 4: that point in time it was seven to nothing. I
- 1:19:55Speaker 4: was like, you have to try to keep this thing close,
- 1:19:57Speaker 4: and they they didn't want to try to do that.
- 1:20:00Speaker 4: So just having fun and it was you know, it
- 1:20:03Speaker 4: was great to see Gonzo and everybody else that came
- 1:20:06Speaker 4: to support Drake and a Michael and.
- 1:20:08Speaker 1: Now great moments in.
- 1:20:12Speaker 2: History and quick movie trivia.
- 1:20:15Speaker 3: What famous movie director produced a nineteen seventy one film
- 1:20:19Speaker 3: with up and coming with an up and coming movie director?
- 1:20:23Speaker 3: But what you don't know who that is anyway, The
- 1:20:28Speaker 3: answer is Francis Ford Coppola, but he.
- 1:20:30Speaker 6: Did a TV show.
- 1:20:32Speaker 3: What famous movie director produced a nineteen seventy one film
- 1:20:36Speaker 3: with an up and coming movie director?
- 1:20:38Speaker 1: But like that could be anyone who's the up and
- 1:20:40Speaker 1: coming movie director.
- 1:20:41Speaker 2: He said, Francis Ford Coppola.
- 1:20:43Speaker 1: No in that. Yeah, it sounds like there's two different guys, right, yeah,
- 1:20:46Speaker 1: two different I don't know.
- 1:20:48Speaker 2: Scorsese and Coppola clarified. Did they do?
- 1:20:52Speaker 3: The movie was American Graffiti and George Lucas was the director.
- 1:20:56Speaker 1: Okay, I gotta keep reading. That's another great moment. All right.
- 1:21:07Speaker 3: Back here on Patriots Unfiltered, Ay five to five Pass
- 1:21:09Speaker 3: five hundred is the Hotline podcast at Patriots dot com
- 1:21:12Speaker 3: is the email address. All right, we've been talking about
- 1:21:16Speaker 3: the depth of the wide receiver room and rumors and
- 1:21:20Speaker 3: all that stuff and and everything else. Will the defense
- 1:21:24Speaker 3: be better? What do they need?
- 1:21:27Speaker 1: You know, we're excited.
- 1:21:28Speaker 3: We're excited.
- 1:21:28Speaker 1: Yeah, excited.
- 1:21:29Speaker 6: I mean I'm excited for the schedule. You know, I'm
- 1:21:31Speaker 6: just excited to watch some good games, you know, like
- 1:21:34Speaker 6: the kind of opponents that get your blood going.
- 1:21:37Speaker 4: You know.
- 1:21:37Speaker 6: It's like last year it was like all right, I
- 1:21:38Speaker 6: mean it was totally different frame of mind. I think
- 1:21:41Speaker 6: that's part of like why people are excited. It's like
- 1:21:44Speaker 6: I remember a certain point, maybe it was around when
- 1:21:45Speaker 6: they were getting like Moss and it just felt like
- 1:21:47Speaker 6: every year the Patriots were in it to win it,
- 1:21:50Speaker 6: and they were getting players, and I remember sitting there
- 1:21:52Speaker 6: being like, to the other teams want to win the
- 1:21:54Speaker 6: Super Bowl? Like why is the why are the Patriots
- 1:21:56Speaker 6: the only team going out? And you know, getting Randy Moss.
- 1:21:58Speaker 6: Anybody could have had Randy Moss. He sits there for
- 1:22:00Speaker 6: you know whatever. It was fifth round pick. And now
- 1:22:02Speaker 6: it feels like you're getting back to that point and
- 1:22:04Speaker 6: you want to watch good games.
- 1:22:06Speaker 1: You want to go against the teams. I don't want
- 1:22:08Speaker 1: to hear about the schedule next year. I want you know, they're.
- 1:22:09Speaker 6: Gonna lose a tough game to a good team.
- 1:22:11Speaker 1: All right, that's what it is.
- 1:22:12Speaker 6: But I'd much rather watch that than you know, see
- 1:22:15Speaker 6: them beat up on some crappy team and then everyone.
- 1:22:17Speaker 1: I don't mind that, but.
- 1:22:18Speaker 5: It'll be something you the easiest schedule was last year.
- 1:22:22Speaker 5: This year will be something else, like the quarterbacks will
- 1:22:25Speaker 5: all get hurt and they'll face a running back up
- 1:22:27Speaker 5: quarterbacks or something like. It's always something that.
- 1:22:30Speaker 6: It's always gona happen in the Rams this year, like
- 1:22:32Speaker 6: Matthew Stafford is going to just go down.
- 1:22:33Speaker 1: And they got this Super team, but then.
- 1:22:35Speaker 3: They listen, knock out the Simpson. It can happen any team.
- 1:22:38Speaker 3: That's the one the worst part of the NFL, of
- 1:22:41Speaker 3: the injuries. It really, it's very frustrating. All right, back
- 1:22:46Speaker 3: here on the phone, eight five to five past five hundred,
- 1:22:49Speaker 3: Eldred running calling in.
- 1:22:51Speaker 1: What's up? Eldred in the truck?
- 1:22:56Speaker 19: All right, yeah, beg beg of my natural element. Yeah,
- 1:23:01Speaker 19: question any of y'all worry about guns old deal might
- 1:23:05Speaker 19: not get done. You might do afterwards.
- 1:23:08Speaker 3: Maybe a little bit, but you know, there's so many
- 1:23:10Speaker 3: other things right now to talk about and think about that.
- 1:23:14Speaker 1: I'll let that take care of it.
- 1:23:16Speaker 3: But you know, let's see if we get into late
- 1:23:17Speaker 3: training camp and it's still not done and there's signs
- 1:23:22Speaker 3: that he's not happy.
- 1:23:24Speaker 6: We're not worried yet, but until it's done, you know,
- 1:23:27Speaker 6: it's yeah, it's a concern.
- 1:23:28Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm a little word.
- 1:23:29Speaker 19: It ain't gonna lie to you. Yeah, I'm a little worried. Yeah,
- 1:23:33Speaker 19: because all the additions and everything we getting, and because
- 1:23:36Speaker 19: I don't like it. Like I said the other other time,
- 1:23:39Speaker 19: they got to face nice to win.
- 1:23:40Speaker 11: The super Bowl if we get there and a lot.
- 1:23:43Speaker 19: Of skips is not going it will shoot you a bone, buddy. Hey,
- 1:23:49Speaker 19: I got so many panther friends over here, you know,
- 1:23:52Speaker 19: and if you read to what ch Kyle Rathers are
- 1:23:54Speaker 19: getting high praises all over and they said we got
- 1:23:57Speaker 19: one and two. But like I tell him, you ain't
- 1:24:01Speaker 19: got to you got to shoot to throw it to him.
- 1:24:02Speaker 19: You ain't got a cannon.
- 1:24:03Speaker 11: I wish we had the cannon. So there's all I have.
- 1:24:06Speaker 19: And y'all have a good one.
- 1:24:07Speaker 1: All right. Thanks. Thinking always brings it.
- 1:24:10Speaker 5: I always love to hear that the spring O t
- 1:24:13Speaker 5: a standout guys, like the best shape of his life.
- 1:24:17Speaker 5: Watch out for this guy. I love it.
- 1:24:19Speaker 3: But hey, the phone calls seemed sound really good today,
- 1:24:23Speaker 3: Like did we do anything like crystal clear? Everyone seems
- 1:24:27Speaker 3: to have a job on it, Like there's no bad connections.
- 1:24:30Speaker 5: Simply I did it.
- 1:24:31Speaker 1: You simply take credit. Do not shake your head.
- 1:24:34Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 1:24:35Speaker 1: I mean, you simply take credit.
- 1:24:37Speaker 6: I noticed the last couple of shows, a couple of
- 1:24:42Speaker 6: things bred. I thought that might be the solution. I
- 1:24:44Speaker 6: didn't want to mention it, but yeah, you're welcome.
- 1:24:47Speaker 1: Okay, you're welcome.
- 1:24:49Speaker 3: There was something else I wanted to say, but I
- 1:24:50Speaker 3: forgot anyway, I'll go to this email from Kakar in Jacksonville.
- 1:24:56Speaker 3: I completely understand why the Patriots need to move on
- 1:24:58Speaker 3: from Booty, but I have a feeling that he will
- 1:25:02Speaker 3: be the first wide receiver to be successful on another team,
- 1:25:05Speaker 3: specifically the Chiefs or Bills. Paul.
- 1:25:08Speaker 1: Interesting. Interesting, you were saying the.
- 1:25:12Speaker 3: Whole Yeah, I'm not going to narrative of people when
- 1:25:15Speaker 3: players leave here, they none of them do well?
- 1:25:18Speaker 1: Is not true. No, there's plenty of guys.
- 1:25:21Speaker 5: I mean, yeah, yeah, let's talk about wide.
- 1:25:25Speaker 6: It was a long time ago anymore.
- 1:25:28Speaker 1: It's a famous one.
- 1:25:29Speaker 6: There's a lot of guys that have commun you know,
- 1:25:31Speaker 6: that was largely true for a small section of like
- 1:25:35Speaker 6: O one, O two oh three.
- 1:25:37Speaker 1: They would like, let some guys go.
- 1:25:39Speaker 6: You know, Tyla led the league in interceptions, and somehow
- 1:25:42Speaker 6: everybody said, like nobody whoever leaves here ever does anything.
- 1:25:45Speaker 6: You know, Adam Van Terry left here and you know
- 1:25:47Speaker 6: he's in the Hall of Fame now, Like, it's just
- 1:25:49Speaker 6: not true.
- 1:25:51Speaker 5: Chandler Jones is always the big one for me. Yeah,
- 1:25:53Speaker 5: Chanler Jones had like an eight year career after he
- 1:25:57Speaker 5: left the Patriots, was one of the best pass rushers
- 1:25:59Speaker 5: in the league.
- 1:25:59Speaker 6: I just don't know if you have one where it
- 1:26:01Speaker 6: was somebody like in Nikhil Harry, somebody was a high
- 1:26:04Speaker 6: round pick that you're really counting on that just couldn't
- 1:26:06Speaker 6: do anything here and then went like your example, veteran guy.
- 1:26:11Speaker 1: Deon Branch was fine in Seattle. Yeah, I mean.
- 1:26:15Speaker 6: Part way is not a big deal with you know,
- 1:26:17Speaker 6: those are the ones that like Taekwon and White in
- 1:26:20Speaker 6: the butt, Yeah, Taekwon and the you.
- 1:26:21Speaker 1: Know, those are the ones.
- 1:26:22Speaker 6: I would say Jacoby Myers is probably the best example
- 1:26:25Speaker 6: of a guy who did well away from here, you know,
- 1:26:29Speaker 6: But I think that speaks more to the guys don't
- 1:26:32Speaker 6: do anything when they leave here at that position because
- 1:26:34Speaker 6: you've had a hard time drafting that position.
- 1:26:36Speaker 5: And they trade a first round pick for one and
- 1:26:38Speaker 5: everybody thinks it's too much.
- 1:26:39Speaker 6: Yeah, yeah, BB and NH.
- 1:26:44Speaker 3: Happy birthday, Paulie says, I'm a fellow Gemini.
- 1:26:47Speaker 1: Thank you.
- 1:26:48Speaker 6: The twins dated at Gemini once. I'm not we should
- 1:26:51Speaker 6: have Alex here. She's on So I have no idea.
- 1:26:53Speaker 3: So Bb is celebrating his birthday by skydiving tomorrow. Would
- 1:26:57Speaker 3: you do that? Paul skydive? No, no, no, No, I'm
- 1:27:01Speaker 3: a scared I don't think I would do it.
- 1:27:02Speaker 6: I would, I'd be scared it once you would, I
- 1:27:05Speaker 6: could definitely see you doing that.
- 1:27:06Speaker 1: Maybe not now would.
- 1:27:07Speaker 6: You have to be strapped to somebody though, No, I
- 1:27:09Speaker 6: would want to do that now.
- 1:27:11Speaker 3: Watched I'm an individual sport guy on your back.
- 1:27:15Speaker 5: It's gonna be like the ones that you do where
- 1:27:17Speaker 5: you sign the waiver and stuff like. I don't think
- 1:27:19Speaker 5: they do let you go solo anymore. No, they don't,
- 1:27:21Speaker 5: not that i've seen. I would do it, but you
- 1:27:25Speaker 5: would do it.
- 1:27:25Speaker 1: You're adventurous type.
- 1:27:27Speaker 3: Yeah, I don't want to know you now.
- 1:27:30Speaker 6: I don't really have a desire to you anymore. It's
- 1:27:31Speaker 6: em going to space. I don't really have a desire
- 1:27:33Speaker 6: to go to space anymore.
- 1:27:34Speaker 1: I don't even like roller coasters, let alone.
- 1:27:36Speaker 5: I would love to go to space.
- 1:27:37Speaker 3: Speaking of space, I watched that movie A Project tail Mary.
- 1:27:41Speaker 3: What do you think It wasn't what I thought it
- 1:27:43Speaker 3: was going to really, Yeah, but it was good, you know,
- 1:27:47Speaker 3: thought provoking. Not as much as Interstellar, but I thought
- 1:27:52Speaker 3: it was a good movie. Almost good ride, a little
- 1:27:54Speaker 3: quirky at times, It's fun.
- 1:27:56Speaker 6: Ryan Grossling's great I mean he's just he brings so
- 1:27:58Speaker 6: talented and funny.
- 1:28:00Speaker 1: You know, he's gonna Star Wars.
- 1:28:03Speaker 5: Yeah, Smolder.
- 1:28:06Speaker 1: Couldn't you just say he was good looking. You had
- 1:28:08Speaker 1: to say he was sexy. You had to make it weird.
- 1:28:10Speaker 1: Good looking is one thing for he's a liability and coverage.
- 1:28:15Speaker 3: I also went to the theater and I saw Mandalorian
- 1:28:17Speaker 3: and brogog Right.
- 1:28:18Speaker 5: We talked about that.
- 1:28:19Speaker 3: I liked that movie. A lot of the Star Wars
- 1:28:23Speaker 3: people were like, you know, they didn't really need you know,
- 1:28:26Speaker 3: it wasn't that good a movie.
- 1:28:27Speaker 1: There was no point to it.
- 1:28:28Speaker 3: It was it was really what that show is like,
- 1:28:31Speaker 3: Now do you have to make a movie? No, you
- 1:28:33Speaker 3: could have made that into the season and and made
- 1:28:36Speaker 3: that one.
- 1:28:36Speaker 1: Of the plots.
- 1:28:37Speaker 6: But it was a good, fun movie. That's what I
- 1:28:39Speaker 6: said to my son. I was trying to like, you know,
- 1:28:41Speaker 6: challenge him a little bit, and I was like, what
- 1:28:43Speaker 6: would you say the difference was the plot of that movie?
- 1:28:45Speaker 6: What was the story though, because there's definitely a plot. Yeah,
- 1:28:48Speaker 6: it's not really a story, Like you don't really go
- 1:28:50Speaker 6: anywhere with the man, Lauria. I mean, he's just kind
- 1:28:51Speaker 6: of he's the Mandalaurian. He's you know, there's no like
- 1:28:54Speaker 6: advancement of his character now, but it was we saw
- 1:28:56Speaker 6: it in three D. It's a summer movie, two hours.
- 1:28:59Speaker 6: I wasn't like I got a out of here, it's
- 1:29:00Speaker 6: too long.
- 1:29:01Speaker 1: It was.
- 1:29:01Speaker 3: Well, the whole thing with Mandalorian and Grogu is all
- 1:29:03Speaker 3: this stuff is happening in the background of the last
- 1:29:08Speaker 3: three movies that came out, you know. So this stuff
- 1:29:11Speaker 3: was happening like five years after New Hope, and so
- 1:29:16Speaker 3: in the meantime there's this still struggle between the Rebel
- 1:29:19Speaker 3: they aren't the rebels anymore left, the Alliance and the
- 1:29:22Speaker 3: old Empire that are trying to cobble it back together again.
- 1:29:26Speaker 4: You know.
- 1:29:27Speaker 3: Mandalorian is just like a little side story.
- 1:29:29Speaker 6: Yeah, now it's it was fine, It was fine. I
- 1:29:31Speaker 6: need Grogu though, to advance a little bit. I'm like
- 1:29:33Speaker 6: that he's cute and he doesn't know what he's doing,
- 1:29:35Speaker 6: like he's getting played out. I want to see, like,
- 1:29:37Speaker 6: but he's not going to live like a thousand years,
- 1:29:38Speaker 6: you know.
- 1:29:39Speaker 5: But that's just.
- 1:29:39Speaker 6: That's just accelerated a little bit. Like I didn't want
- 1:29:41Speaker 6: to see like, you know, like tween Grogu who you know,
- 1:29:44Speaker 6: he's a little irresponsible, you know he's but he's not
- 1:29:46Speaker 6: like trying to can't figure anything out, like you can't
- 1:29:49Speaker 6: figure anything out.
- 1:29:49Speaker 1: We played that beat out right.
- 1:29:51Speaker 5: Yeah, my algorithm has now picked up, like people are
- 1:29:56Speaker 5: sharing their biggest nitpicks with Star Wars, like the whole
- 1:29:59Speaker 5: the whole thing, like it can be anything from anywhere,
- 1:30:02Speaker 5: you know, like I guess in a Phantom Menace in
- 1:30:05Speaker 5: the scroll at the beginning, it says two Jedi Knights
- 1:30:08Speaker 5: are like going to the trade negotiations and Obi Wan's
- 1:30:12Speaker 5: not a Jedi Knight. Yeah, yeah, like little things like
- 1:30:16Speaker 5: but it's like little things like not like major plot
- 1:30:19Speaker 5: holes like I would just say.
- 1:30:20Speaker 6: My thing with it is that I have no idea
- 1:30:22Speaker 6: if they knew that. I don't think they thought Darth
- 1:30:24Speaker 6: Vader was the father in Star Wars, and they definitely
- 1:30:27Speaker 6: didn't think Leo was the sister.
- 1:30:28Speaker 1: And the second one when Luke's like she's kissing Luke like.
- 1:30:30Speaker 5: Five, I was gonna say they kiss that was all
- 1:30:33Speaker 5: like this Thrones.
- 1:30:35Speaker 6: Then you know, you need like a big, a big
- 1:30:36Speaker 6: thing for the movie, and you're like, what if I'm
- 1:30:39Speaker 6: not one hundred percent sure on Darth Vader, though. I
- 1:30:41Speaker 6: think they like that because that makes too much sense.
- 1:30:43Speaker 6: But I don't think he had it. I think he
- 1:30:45Speaker 6: I was like, you know, what'll be cool. It's like
- 1:30:46Speaker 6: he's his father and then that's the big reveal.
- 1:30:48Speaker 5: Yeah, okay, I mean they made out.
- 1:30:52Speaker 3: In nh also says what is the p U crew's
- 1:30:55Speaker 3: favorite part of the off season, whether football or later
- 1:30:58Speaker 3: or not, and what does the crew think is the
- 1:31:00Speaker 3: most important or pivotal part of the offseason for the
- 1:31:03Speaker 3: team's development and success.
- 1:31:05Speaker 5: My answer for that question is the same the draft.
- 1:31:08Speaker 5: In the draft, he loved the draft.
- 1:31:10Speaker 3: Well, to me, it's it's May's development in the O
- 1:31:13Speaker 3: line improvement. Yeah, I mean that's that's it. Everything else is.
- 1:31:21Speaker 1: You know, like you May May's development.
- 1:31:24Speaker 6: Yeah, I mean if he continues to rise, the team
- 1:31:27Speaker 6: wills as well.
- 1:31:28Speaker 4: Yep.
- 1:31:30Speaker 3: Let's see. Matthew writes, and he's from Saskatoon. I think
- 1:31:34Speaker 3: s a s K sure, Saskatchewan could Saskatchewan could be Saskatoon, Saskatchewan.
- 1:31:40Speaker 3: He says he has a concern for Mike to requests
- 1:31:44Speaker 3: in a football question.
- 1:31:46Speaker 6: Uh.
- 1:31:46Speaker 3: Happy that Mike's procedure went well and he's back at work,
- 1:31:49Speaker 3: but I concerned that the doctors might have missed something
- 1:31:52Speaker 3: when diagnosing him. I've noticed that Drake May has cut
- 1:31:56Speaker 3: back on his oh shoots in his press conferences, but
- 1:31:59Speaker 3: now Mike seems to give.
- 1:32:00Speaker 1: At least one oh shoot every podcast.
- 1:32:03Speaker 3: That North Carolina twang is known to be highly contagious,
- 1:32:06Speaker 3: and I hope Mike can get the help he needs.
- 1:32:09Speaker 1: That's fair.
- 1:32:09Speaker 5: We do, we do.
- 1:32:10Speaker 6: I do slip in a Drake modes sometimes just throw yeah,
- 1:32:12Speaker 6: you know you just somebody.
- 1:32:15Speaker 5: Maybe it's not conscious, but it does feel like he's
- 1:32:18Speaker 5: cut down on the years.
- 1:32:20Speaker 3: I think he's gotten a little training.
- 1:32:22Speaker 5: Yeah, maybe Jerry Maddello, Yeah.
- 1:32:23Speaker 6: Yeah, he's getting some media his job. I don't know
- 1:32:26Speaker 6: if it's media savvy or just him becoming more confident
- 1:32:29Speaker 6: in himself and more used to talking to these people
- 1:32:31Speaker 6: and he recognizes all the faces.
- 1:32:32Speaker 5: And because he loves it so much.
- 1:32:34Speaker 1: Yeah right, right.
- 1:32:36Speaker 3: Two requests are one, can you start using Evans return
- 1:32:39Speaker 3: from Practice song again? As it is easily the best
- 1:32:42Speaker 3: and catches theme song from the p U crew.
- 1:32:45Speaker 5: Oh I have to return? Well, it's true, but I
- 1:32:47Speaker 5: have to return from practice.
- 1:32:49Speaker 6: Right, we'll figure it out.
- 1:32:52Speaker 1: And too, I don't know about.
- 1:32:53Speaker 3: That to Paul, can I get in Elijah vera tucka
- 1:32:58Speaker 3: one time? The first time you said it, I couldn't
- 1:33:00Speaker 3: control my laughter because of how naturally it's slipped out.
- 1:33:04Speaker 5: It is.
- 1:33:05Speaker 6: It's a tough name for me, and it definitely elicits
- 1:33:08Speaker 6: the Boston.
- 1:33:09Speaker 5: Can you get more and accent the more beverages you consume,
- 1:33:13Speaker 5: because that's.
- 1:33:15Speaker 1: That's yeah, that really yeah. Oh yeah, yeah, yeah, I
- 1:33:18Speaker 1: get loose.
- 1:33:19Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, all of a sudden, all of a sudden.
- 1:33:21Speaker 5: I'm like, you know, from like a towny like put
- 1:33:25Speaker 5: a couple of what happens.
- 1:33:27Speaker 3: Have we ever seen Evan with a little bit uh
- 1:33:30Speaker 3: under you know under.
- 1:33:32Speaker 6: The mean yes, morell has he's nodding, yeah, I mean
- 1:33:36Speaker 6: not as much as the uper Germany the travel party
- 1:33:40Speaker 6: that was. I'm sure they've seen other sides of it.
- 1:33:42Speaker 6: I heard stories about Evan in Germany, but I don't
- 1:33:44Speaker 6: I don't know how.
- 1:33:45Speaker 5: Much those stories are dead and gone. We don't need
- 1:33:48Speaker 5: to repeat the off scooter.
- 1:33:49Speaker 1: I think I don't know a lot.
- 1:33:51Speaker 5: Card I prove it.
- 1:33:52Speaker 1: Okay, did you fall off the scooter because you had
- 1:33:55Speaker 1: been drinking?
- 1:33:56Speaker 8: Probably he was on the school because of the driver
- 1:34:00Speaker 8: had been drinking.
- 1:34:00Speaker 1: He wasn't the driver now.
- 1:34:02Speaker 5: At first, but I got on that I think I
- 1:34:05Speaker 5: don't even remember thought it was. All I know is
- 1:34:08Speaker 5: is that what is that? Yadic drinking some sort of
- 1:34:13Speaker 5: German hard alcohol that none of us had any idea
- 1:34:16Speaker 5: what it was or what it was called, and like
- 1:34:18Speaker 5: he could, we were all just like what is this?
- 1:34:21Speaker 5: And he was like, just trust me, just trust me.
- 1:34:24Speaker 5: Twenty minutes hour, I'm on a scooter going through Frankfurt
- 1:34:27Speaker 5: and I'm like, how did I get here?
- 1:34:30Speaker 3: Who? Now? To end with a serious question, Since we've
- 1:34:38Speaker 3: given up on a twenty twenty eight first to acquire
- 1:34:42Speaker 3: A J. Brown, there's been talk about recouping that pick
- 1:34:45Speaker 3: in the trade. What player could you see, guys see
- 1:34:47Speaker 3: that might realistically be traded to get twenty twenty eight
- 1:34:51Speaker 3: first return? Well, Gonzo, but he says, so no Gonzales.
- 1:34:55Speaker 5: Yeah, I don't know if anybody else. I mean, because
- 1:34:57Speaker 5: if you traded like Milton Williams or something, maybe, I.
- 1:34:59Speaker 6: Mean, the the things that you could trade to get
- 1:35:02Speaker 6: a first round pick, you don't want to trade, Drake.
- 1:35:07Speaker 1: Probably get it. I would probably get a first round.
- 1:35:09Speaker 5: I want to trade Drake for three first round.
- 1:35:12Speaker 1: Adam in New.
- 1:35:15Speaker 3: York City says, I love hearing Paul site stats. Now, Evan,
- 1:35:20Speaker 3: will you please give a take a two based on
- 1:35:22Speaker 3: your gut that has no statistical evidence.
- 1:35:26Speaker 1: There you go. Wow.
- 1:35:29Speaker 6: So Evan would argue that I was not actually spouting
- 1:35:33Speaker 6: stats because I was doing actual numbers that everybody, everybody
- 1:35:37Speaker 6: is well versed in, whereas you know, we have like
- 1:35:40Speaker 6: a dot and you.
- 1:35:41Speaker 1: Know, E p A.
- 1:35:42Speaker 6: But it's a good way to sum up there's only
- 1:35:44Speaker 6: one ball and you've got receivers, and you know there's
- 1:35:47Speaker 6: everybody's got.
- 1:35:48Speaker 5: To get it. I would do it, you know, with
- 1:35:50Speaker 5: target share target share because that takes how many past
- 1:35:54Speaker 5: attempts Fred's thing past, how many times they attempt to pass,
- 1:35:58Speaker 5: and divides it by how many targets because each team
- 1:36:02Speaker 5: attempts a different amount of passes, so it's to make
- 1:36:04Speaker 5: it all equal.
- 1:36:06Speaker 1: Boom.
- 1:36:07Speaker 6: But I was just sort of going apples to apples
- 1:36:09Speaker 6: and just talking about you know, and again I was
- 1:36:15Speaker 6: looking at this in relation to Keisha on Booty because
- 1:36:18Speaker 6: I had one listener on Tuesday sort of was making
- 1:36:24Speaker 6: the point like, well, why can't Boody do what Alec
- 1:36:28Speaker 6: Pierce did, and you know he only had forty seven
- 1:36:32Speaker 6: catches and he signed one hundred plus million dollar contract
- 1:36:34Speaker 6: and I was like, he also had a thousand yards, right,
- 1:36:39Speaker 6: Like it was twenty more catches but for five hundred
- 1:36:43Speaker 6: more yards. Like that's a huge difference between Booty's year
- 1:36:46Speaker 6: last year and Pierce's. And yeah, you could make an
- 1:36:50Speaker 6: argument that Pierce was third or fourth on the hierarchy
- 1:36:54Speaker 6: for the Colts.
- 1:36:55Speaker 1: In terms of targets.
- 1:36:56Speaker 6: But look at the production and I would say that
- 1:36:59Speaker 6: if Kaishan Boody somehow in twenty twenty five is able
- 1:37:04Speaker 6: twenty six rather is able to get one thousand yards,
- 1:37:07Speaker 6: he's going to put himself in line for a big payday.
- 1:37:10Speaker 6: He will because people will look at that and say
- 1:37:13Speaker 6: all he needed was more opportunity. And then when he
- 1:37:16Speaker 6: got it, he showed you that it was not a
- 1:37:17Speaker 6: fluke that he's making those big plays. He was capable
- 1:37:20Speaker 6: of making more of them if he gave him the opportunity.
- 1:37:22Speaker 6: I just don't think he gets those opportunities in New England,
- 1:37:25Speaker 6: and I think he thinks the same way. And that's
- 1:37:28Speaker 6: why Adam Schefter had that comment about him, He's seeking
- 1:37:32Speaker 6: a trade.
- 1:37:33Speaker 3: Yep Zach from Cincy. Zach's from Zincy. I know the
- 1:37:40Speaker 3: Giants have been active at wide receivers, so I'm not
- 1:37:42Speaker 3: sure how much they could use someone like Booty.
- 1:37:45Speaker 1: But if Thibodeaux is available.
- 1:37:47Speaker 3: Is there any world where there could be a trade
- 1:37:49Speaker 3: involving those players and maybe Day three picks. Seems like
- 1:37:54Speaker 3: all the recent Super Bowl champions.
- 1:37:55Speaker 1: Have had good depth at edge.
- 1:37:59Speaker 5: Yeah. We did a little bit this yesterday on Catch
- 1:38:02Speaker 5: I right now, at least if you believe what the reporting,
- 1:38:06Speaker 5: it sounds like the expectation would be that Thibadeau would
- 1:38:10Speaker 5: move for like a fourth round pick, maybe even a
- 1:38:12Speaker 5: third round pick if you want to win the bid.
- 1:38:15Speaker 5: You know, Jalen Phillips went for a third round pick
- 1:38:17Speaker 5: at the deadline last year, so somewhere in that range.
- 1:38:20Speaker 5: I don't think Kijon Booty's value is anything close to
- 1:38:24Speaker 5: a third round pick. Maybe you know, so I think you're.
- 1:38:27Speaker 1: Going Booty and a Day three pick.
- 1:38:30Speaker 5: Good boot Could Booty and a fourth or Booty and
- 1:38:33Speaker 5: a fifth be better than just a third.
- 1:38:37Speaker 6: And the Giant we're looking for a Day two pick,
- 1:38:39Speaker 6: not a Day three pick. But if you add Booty,
- 1:38:42Speaker 6: maybe they take a Day three pick.
- 1:38:44Speaker 5: Yeah, I mean they signed guys off the street like
- 1:38:47Speaker 5: they signed Odell, they signed Juju Smith Schuster in the
- 1:38:49Speaker 5: year twenty twenty six. Like I I don't know that
- 1:38:52Speaker 5: that's going to deter them if they think Kishon Booty
- 1:38:55Speaker 5: is a contributing player. Signing Odell Beckham in twenty twenty six,
- 1:39:00Speaker 5: I don't think it's going to make them say we
- 1:39:02Speaker 5: don't need Kayshaun Bouti anymore. You know, they sound like
- 1:39:06Speaker 5: they're worried about neighbors Is knee, and based off the
- 1:39:09Speaker 5: softball game that he played in the other week for
- 1:39:12Speaker 5: the same kind of deal as Drake May had with
- 1:39:14Speaker 5: the Patriots, he wasn't moving too well. So I think
- 1:39:17Speaker 5: that they're a little bit concerned about not only his
- 1:39:20Speaker 5: knee long term, but also like when he's going to
- 1:39:22Speaker 5: be back this season, you know, with that injury.
- 1:39:24Speaker 3: So maybe they would be Yeah, Dan and Virginia in
- 1:39:28Speaker 3: Michigan on Tuesday, Fred asked for a sponsor for the
- 1:39:30Speaker 3: segment what Caught My Eye, at which point Paul noted
- 1:39:33Speaker 3: that Mike had been watching one certain player all through practice.
- 1:39:37Speaker 3: Given Mike's infamous reaction to a large running back that
- 1:39:40Speaker 3: caught his eye, perhaps the segment sponsor could be viagra
- 1:39:44Speaker 3: or farmer Henry's.
- 1:39:45Speaker 5: Eggplants are the same thing.
- 1:39:49Speaker 3: If Christian in La is so determined to be mad
- 1:39:52Speaker 3: about the Patriots not broadcasting their trade moves, here are
- 1:39:55Speaker 3: some other things.
- 1:39:56Speaker 1: He could be mad about.
- 1:39:58Speaker 3: The stadium groundskeepers not looking for a four leaf clover,
- 1:40:01Speaker 3: the equipment guys not exploring the use of pastels for
- 1:40:04Speaker 3: the Patriots uniform to let, stadium security not hunting down Bigfoot,
- 1:40:08Speaker 3: and that sloth from the Goonies who stole Christian's catchphrase
- 1:40:13Speaker 3: forty one years ago.
- 1:40:16Speaker 1: So I was thinking, it's Evan last night.
- 1:40:20Speaker 6: You know that Pastel's by that Pastel's comment, you know,
- 1:40:24Speaker 6: and you're kind of resonated watching the Knicks Spurs NBA
- 1:40:27Speaker 6: playoff game.
- 1:40:28Speaker 1: I could just imagine how mad Evan was watching. Did happen?
- 1:40:31Speaker 1: You didn't see it?
- 1:40:31Speaker 6: Now, well, I look at him like ball they had
- 1:40:35Speaker 6: every other section was in a different sort of pastel
- 1:40:38Speaker 6: T shirt into different kind of look.
- 1:40:42Speaker 5: Oh God, I trust me. I have already complained about
- 1:40:44Speaker 5: it off the air, got on the air, but apparently
- 1:40:48Speaker 5: there's some sort of It's it's like a festival that's
- 1:40:51Speaker 5: down in San Antonio around this around this time of year.
- 1:40:54Speaker 3: By Southwest. I know what it's as.
- 1:40:58Speaker 5: I don't know what it is called, but it's a
- 1:41:00Speaker 5: apparently what the wide shirts are, the colors that they
- 1:41:03Speaker 5: are are. Really it's like a connection to the festival
- 1:41:07Speaker 5: that goes on. It's kind of like the Red Sox
- 1:41:10Speaker 5: like marathon jerseys, you know, like where there's a connection.
- 1:41:14Speaker 5: So I I, you know, people are getting finger wagged
- 1:41:17Speaker 5: for not understanding the culture of San Antonio. Okay, but
- 1:41:22Speaker 5: the one thing that I was a little bit disappointed
- 1:41:24Speaker 5: with with San Antonio last night was like you could
- 1:41:26Speaker 5: audibly hear the Knicks fans cheering for the Knicks down
- 1:41:31Speaker 5: the stretch last night of that game, and I was like,
- 1:41:34Speaker 5: this is supposed to be like a small market, you know,
- 1:41:37Speaker 5: this is like our team, our city type of team, right,
- 1:41:40Speaker 5: and they there was at least twenty five percent Knicks
- 1:41:43Speaker 5: fans there, and I was pretty surprised by that. Interesting
- 1:41:46Speaker 5: in New York, they're making a lot a lot of
- 1:41:47Speaker 5: money to spend and it wasn't just Ben Stellar and
- 1:41:49Speaker 5: Timothy Shallomey like there was.
- 1:41:51Speaker 3: There was fans some San Antonio fans probably made a
- 1:41:55Speaker 3: lot of money selling their tickets.
- 1:41:56Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:41:57Speaker 1: Disappointing, Yeah, it was Nick in North Dakota. Happy Birthday.
- 1:42:01Speaker 3: Paul my son's birthday is tomorrow and he shares it
- 1:42:04Speaker 3: with mister Kraft.
- 1:42:05Speaker 1: Mister crafts uh birthday is tomorrow.
- 1:42:09Speaker 5: I wasn't invited to the party, No welcome to the party.
- 1:42:13Speaker 3: My question is in regards to the Patriots heading back
- 1:42:15Speaker 3: to Germany this season to play the Lions. With all
- 1:42:18Speaker 3: the international games added the past few seasons, where would
- 1:42:21Speaker 3: everyone's dream destination be for the Patriots to play?
- 1:42:25Speaker 1: And you can't answer Foxboro at one pm. I'm allay,
- 1:42:29Speaker 1: that's a good one. Actually be on the road at
- 1:42:31Speaker 1: one point.
- 1:42:31Speaker 3: Where would your dream place to play for the page?
- 1:42:35Speaker 1: I mean Hawaii.
- 1:42:36Speaker 3: We were talking about Hawaii earlier, as long as I
- 1:42:40Speaker 3: can stay a week, Like you don't want to just
- 1:42:41Speaker 3: go in and leave.
- 1:42:43Speaker 1: I like to play a game in Hawaii. That's a
- 1:42:45Speaker 1: good one.
- 1:42:45Speaker 5: I honestly don't have one because like, sorry, but Foxborough
- 1:42:50Speaker 5: or at one pm is what we want. I don't
- 1:42:54Speaker 5: really like, you know, the long trips too much. Yeah,
- 1:42:57Speaker 5: so it's hard to say for us, like right, yeah,
- 1:43:00Speaker 5: we're not fans going to the game and enjoy.
- 1:43:02Speaker 3: What would make it worth the long trip?
- 1:43:04Speaker 5: I now that they now that they're going to Spain.
- 1:43:08Speaker 5: I think it's like Barcelona sounds really cool.
- 1:43:11Speaker 6: Yeah, that does sound cool.
- 1:43:12Speaker 5: Spain.
- 1:43:12Speaker 1: I would do Spain.
- 1:43:13Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:43:14Speaker 1: I was just trying to think of a place that
- 1:43:15Speaker 1: I hadn't been.
- 1:43:16Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, you.
- 1:43:17Speaker 6: I didn't even dare think of Australia because I know
- 1:43:20Speaker 6: you would yell at me for that.
- 1:43:21Speaker 1: They got nothing for us.
- 1:43:23Speaker 8: Unfiltered Tokyo would be amazing.
- 1:43:24Speaker 1: Oh god, too far. But I don't have a huge
- 1:43:29Speaker 1: desire to.
- 1:43:29Speaker 5: There's just a lot of you know, it's not it's
- 1:43:31Speaker 5: not a vacation, and then it's in the middle of
- 1:43:33Speaker 5: the season. Then we have to come back and then
- 1:43:35Speaker 5: you know, turn around and do it again, and it
- 1:43:37Speaker 5: sounds like me.
- 1:43:37Speaker 1: Then you got to click on it.
- 1:43:38Speaker 6: Click on that Mexico City game, you know whatever it
- 1:43:43Speaker 6: was ten years ago.
- 1:43:44Speaker 1: It was interesting. I did not make that. You know,
- 1:43:47Speaker 1: we've stayed.
- 1:43:48Speaker 3: Mexico City is a dangerous place, but we stayed in
- 1:43:52Speaker 3: what would be they're considered they're like Beverly Hills Roadale
- 1:43:56Speaker 3: Drive area, you know. So it was nice within that air,
- 1:44:00Speaker 3: but the minute you go out, you have to be
- 1:44:02Speaker 3: you know, escorted by guys with machine guns and trucks
- 1:44:05Speaker 3: and helicopters. I'm not kidding you. So in that way,
- 1:44:12Speaker 3: it was kind of weird. It's a good experience overall, Yeah.
- 1:44:17Speaker 6: You know, I think, I mean, I've never been to
- 1:44:18Speaker 6: an international game. I would just it would be interesting
- 1:44:21Speaker 6: to me how the fan vibe is different, you know,
- 1:44:23Speaker 6: from the pregame to just how they react to things.
- 1:44:26Speaker 1: You know, it was.
- 1:44:28Speaker 5: Interesting because like, the Jaguars played so much in London
- 1:44:32Speaker 5: that they they do have maybe some adopted fans over
- 1:44:36Speaker 5: there at this point that uh, you know, that felt
- 1:44:39Speaker 5: more like a a Jaguars home game then let's say
- 1:44:43Speaker 5: the Patriots game in Frankfurt felt like a Patriots home
- 1:44:46Speaker 5: game because of just the sort of the way the
- 1:44:48Speaker 5: stadium set up and all the Jaguars stuff and all that.
- 1:44:53Speaker 5: The Frankfurt game I felt felt more like this is
- 1:44:56Speaker 5: we're truly in a neutral site here, whereas the London
- 1:45:00Speaker 5: game they may be a little bit more used to
- 1:45:02Speaker 5: having the Jaguars over there. I would say on the
- 1:45:06Speaker 5: list now of places that they have like Barcelona and
- 1:45:09Speaker 5: Spain would be I would I guess Madrid this year, right,
- 1:45:14Speaker 5: not Barcelona, But either way.
- 1:45:17Speaker 3: You know what would be kind of cool is going
- 1:45:20Speaker 3: like to Dubai and playing there, because like that place
- 1:45:26Speaker 3: is wild. Like they have like seven star hotels, you know,
- 1:45:30Speaker 3: and if you could stay in one of those, and
- 1:45:32Speaker 3: they'd probably build like a stadium just for this and everything,
- 1:45:36Speaker 3: you know, the outrageous money they have there, it might.
- 1:45:39Speaker 1: Be cool to like check that place out.
- 1:45:41Speaker 3: Yeah, last year's well, now it would.
- 1:45:48Speaker 5: Schedule was perfect all basically Eastern time zone short flights
- 1:45:53Speaker 5: this year. That's what let's stick to that.
- 1:45:57Speaker 3: Let's see Cameron or no Tristan from Alabama? Is there
- 1:46:00Speaker 3: any chance we can get both Deuce and Evans practice
- 1:46:04Speaker 3: tracks on vinyl along with some bonus blooper clips, maybe
- 1:46:08Speaker 3: yl to get the B side.
- 1:46:10Speaker 5: Track I don't get it your song?
- 1:46:15Speaker 1: Okay, I got to release it EP, you know.
- 1:46:20Speaker 3: Bradley says I just saw Fitzy this morning tweet that
- 1:46:23Speaker 3: number eight may be occupied very soon. Is there any
- 1:46:26Speaker 3: reporting of interest you've seen in digs after they signed
- 1:46:31Speaker 3: Brown or is he being a weirdo FITSI I don't know,
- 1:46:34Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 1:46:34Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 1:46:35Speaker 6: Yeah, I don't think Fitzy's being a weirdo. I think
- 1:46:37Speaker 6: there's been a little bit of a ground swell the
- 1:46:39Speaker 6: last couple of days. I don't know if it's rooted
- 1:46:42Speaker 6: in anything real, but people have talked about it a
- 1:46:45Speaker 6: little bit locally.
- 1:46:46Speaker 3: Yeah, Nixon, Connecticut on the marks in Connecticut.
- 1:46:49Speaker 1: What's up?
- 1:46:49Speaker 3: Mark?
- 1:46:50Speaker 1: Oh? Mark?
- 1:46:51Speaker 20: Hey guys, how you doing.
- 1:46:52Speaker 3: Goodday, Bud, Thank you.
- 1:46:57Speaker 11: You're welcome.
- 1:46:57Speaker 4: An.
- 1:46:58Speaker 20: I meant to give you a jingle yeah today because
- 1:47:00Speaker 20: I wanted to ask you about the tight end position
- 1:47:03Speaker 20: right now with Julian Hill going down for the season.
- 1:47:06Speaker 20: This kid Tanner looks like a big muscular kid that
- 1:47:09Speaker 20: can move some people around. Was he undrafted?
- 1:47:13Speaker 1: Yes?
- 1:47:15Speaker 20: Do you think he's got a shot to take over
- 1:47:17Speaker 20: that that role?
- 1:47:18Speaker 7: Does he got the size to do it?
- 1:47:20Speaker 5: He definitely has the size. Yeah, But he to me
- 1:47:22Speaker 5: is he's like a sixth offensive lineman like Julian Hill.
- 1:47:26Speaker 5: I think was a little bit more athletic and could
- 1:47:28Speaker 5: you a little bit more blocking on the move and
- 1:47:31Speaker 5: in space, whereas Tanner Arkin is a true like in
- 1:47:34Speaker 5: line hand in the dirt, like almost like a who
- 1:47:37Speaker 5: Man type.
- 1:47:38Speaker 6: You know where sixty two?
- 1:47:39Speaker 5: Yeah, So different different skill sets, like they get it
- 1:47:42Speaker 5: done in a different way. But if you were looking
- 1:47:44Speaker 5: for that other tight end, that third guy to be
- 1:47:47Speaker 5: like a true blocker, then he would be my favorite
- 1:47:51Speaker 5: right now out of that group. You know him to
- 1:47:53Speaker 5: pre Westover. But he's a like I said, he's he's
- 1:47:58Speaker 5: a different kind of cat than Julian.
- 1:48:00Speaker 20: Yeah, he can move people.
- 1:48:02Speaker 5: Yeah, Jillian Hill is more you know, he's more of
- 1:48:06Speaker 5: like a move piece, like the guy that could get
- 1:48:08Speaker 5: out in space. And I was really excited about what
- 1:48:12Speaker 5: Julian Hill was going to bring to the table. That
- 1:48:14Speaker 5: injury is kind of a bummer.
- 1:48:15Speaker 1: Yeah, thanks Mark.
- 1:48:16Speaker 6: It's kind of like losing the fullback last year. I mean,
- 1:48:18Speaker 6: not that he was that player, but yeah, I mean
- 1:48:20Speaker 6: luckily they still have Gilliam.
- 1:48:21Speaker 3: But yeah, David in South Carolina rights. In an alternate universe,
- 1:48:26Speaker 3: where could you change? Where would you change the outcomes
- 1:48:30Speaker 3: of past Patriots Super Bowls? Would you lose two thousand
- 1:48:33Speaker 3: and four against the Eagles if it meant you won
- 1:48:35Speaker 3: twenty seventeen against the Eagles, which back to back would
- 1:48:39Speaker 3: be more important? Lose twenty sixteen against the Falcons if
- 1:48:43Speaker 3: it meant you won two thousand and seven against the Giants,
- 1:48:48Speaker 3: greatest comeback first the greatest season. Or lose twenty fourteen
- 1:48:52Speaker 3: against the Seahawks if it meant you won twenty twenty
- 1:48:55Speaker 3: five against the Seahawks. No, I think so, okay, so
- 1:49:00Speaker 3: the first one lose oh four and win seventeen.
- 1:49:03Speaker 6: No, so if you win seventeen, that gives you three
- 1:49:06Speaker 6: in a row sixteen, seventeen, eighteen.
- 1:49:08Speaker 1: Yeah, i'd take that. I don't. But then you don't
- 1:49:12Speaker 1: have a dynasty. Yeah, it really screws up the early dynas.
- 1:49:16Speaker 1: No one's ever done three in a row.
- 1:49:17Speaker 3: No, that's true, but you'd have to wait all that
- 1:49:19Speaker 3: time to get there.
- 1:49:20Speaker 1: I don't know. Anyway, that's a good one.
- 1:49:22Speaker 3: Lose sixteen against the Falcons, which, of course.
- 1:49:25Speaker 1: Is I do that huge? I definitely if it.
- 1:49:28Speaker 3: Meant you get the perfect season, I would take any
- 1:49:31Speaker 3: of them for a perfect season.
- 1:49:32Speaker 1: Yeah, yep.
- 1:49:34Speaker 3: And then lose fourteen against the Seahawks, but you beat
- 1:49:37Speaker 3: them last year.
- 1:49:38Speaker 1: No, I don't.
- 1:49:39Speaker 6: The fourteen is one of my favorites, so I don't.
- 1:49:41Speaker 6: I don't think I could treat it.
- 1:49:42Speaker 5: You don't have the Malcolm Butler interception, you know, like.
- 1:49:45Speaker 6: Yeah, it's worth a discussion. But I think I agree
- 1:49:47Speaker 6: with the first, the first Seattle one, because yeah, I
- 1:49:52Speaker 6: don't want to get into it, but I think people
- 1:49:53Speaker 6: would still say lucky to get there, you know, bow
- 1:49:57Speaker 6: Nick's got hurt and the easy schedule like people would mocket, yeah,
- 1:50:01Speaker 6: you know, and the other one, what are you going
- 1:50:03Speaker 6: to say? It's two of the best teams in football
- 1:50:05Speaker 6: went toe to toe and maybe.
- 1:50:06Speaker 5: Two of the best teams in football history like that.
- 1:50:09Speaker 5: The talent on the field in that twenty fourteen Super
- 1:50:12Speaker 5: Bowl is.
- 1:50:12Speaker 3: Tough to be about that, But yeah, the good teams.
- 1:50:15Speaker 6: I think those two I think, like Bizarro Fred and
- 1:50:17Speaker 6: this show, we had to point out all the things
- 1:50:19Speaker 6: that aren't as good as you think they are.
- 1:50:21Speaker 21: Multiple teams in football history easily, like easily, Yeah, I
- 1:50:25Speaker 21: think the thirteen Seahawks that won the Super Bowl and
- 1:50:28Speaker 21: then came back with basically the same team in fourteen,
- 1:50:30Speaker 21: and then the Patriots and that.
- 1:50:32Speaker 3: I think that's your youth talking. But anyway, it was
- 1:50:35Speaker 3: fifteen years ago.
- 1:50:36Speaker 5: It wasn't like it was like dismissed your youth talking
- 1:50:41Speaker 5: over a decade.
- 1:50:42Speaker 3: Child speaking of youth, But dar your guy, my guy
- 1:50:46Speaker 3: was we're talking about Gonzo and you know, getting his
- 1:50:49Speaker 3: deal done. But Darn's like, I'm not so sure I
- 1:50:53Speaker 3: want to do that. He thinks that his performance in
- 1:50:55Speaker 3: the Super Bowl was overrated, and he's not so sure
- 1:50:58Speaker 3: he wants to sign him to make money. That's what
- 1:51:01Speaker 3: he said.
- 1:51:03Speaker 1: Is he just being a contrarian or the people that
- 1:51:06Speaker 1: have talked.
- 1:51:06Speaker 5: About I think that's his youth showing.
- 1:51:08Speaker 6: Oh I like the shot. I would just fall back
- 1:51:14Speaker 6: in the argument I made tuesday. I think if you
- 1:51:16Speaker 6: want to be a draft and developed team, you drafted
- 1:51:19Speaker 6: this guy, You've developed into one of you know, at
- 1:51:22Speaker 6: worst five best players at his position. I think it's
- 1:51:25Speaker 6: an important position. I think I've heard a lot of
- 1:51:27Speaker 6: stuff coming out now that well, corners on is important.
- 1:51:32Speaker 6: The further away from the ball you are, the less
- 1:51:34Speaker 6: of I don't buy any of that. I think the
- 1:51:36Speaker 6: value of a shutdown corner to me, it only comes
- 1:51:40Speaker 6: down to whether or not you think he is that good,
- 1:51:42Speaker 6: and if you do, then you have to resign him.
- 1:51:44Speaker 6: If you don't, then let him go.
- 1:51:45Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:51:46Speaker 5: See, I feel like this is a good philosophical discussion
- 1:51:49Speaker 5: of draft and developed and what does that exactly mean?
- 1:51:52Speaker 5: Because you could make the argument that drafting and developing
- 1:51:55Speaker 5: means once that player hits that second contract, you're extending
- 1:51:58Speaker 5: those players and keeping those players. Or you could make
- 1:52:01Speaker 5: the argument that you go back into the draft and
- 1:52:04Speaker 5: you just draft a new Christian Gonzales and you don't
- 1:52:06Speaker 5: have to pay this Christian Zalees.
- 1:52:08Speaker 1: That's what Belichick would do. But which one's drafting, which one?
- 1:52:12Speaker 3: Which one is draft and development?
- 1:52:14Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 1:52:14Speaker 6: I would say draft and developed, as you you you
- 1:52:17Speaker 6: you keep your retain Yeah, that's my I totally understand
- 1:52:22Speaker 6: what is distraction develop and because I.
- 1:52:25Speaker 3: Feel constantly cycle through them.
- 1:52:27Speaker 5: Right because like I've seen, you're not going to hit
- 1:52:29Speaker 5: when we're talking about a receiver with Kaishan Boody, like
- 1:52:32Speaker 5: they drafted Kyle Williams. So a draft developed team probably
- 1:52:36Speaker 5: wouldn't over extend to keep kaish On Booty. It would
- 1:52:40Speaker 5: rely on it's drafting and it's scouting and its ability
- 1:52:43Speaker 5: to evaluate talent and keep Kyle Williams.
- 1:52:46Speaker 1: I understand that.
- 1:52:47Speaker 6: I just think that's an imperfect comparison because Kaishon Booty
- 1:52:50Speaker 6: is not Christian Gonzales.
- 1:52:51Speaker 5: Wide receivers, sure, but like for example, just to be
- 1:52:56Speaker 5: more apples to apples.
- 1:52:57Speaker 6: Like Marcella's dial, I don't need to retain him. That's
- 1:53:00Speaker 6: the Kishn Booty comparison. Like a late round pick at
- 1:53:02Speaker 6: that position.
- 1:53:03Speaker 5: So the Vikings traded Stefan Diggs and drafted Justin Jefferson.
- 1:53:09Speaker 5: So they drafted Stefan Diggs, they developed Stefan Diggs, they
- 1:53:13Speaker 5: traded him for a first round pick, earned that first
- 1:53:15Speaker 5: round pick in Stefant into Justin Jefferson. Is that Are
- 1:53:18Speaker 5: they a draft and developed team or did they not
- 1:53:21Speaker 5: do the op you know what I mean?
- 1:53:22Speaker 6: I would say that that's the opposite of draft and develop,
- 1:53:25Speaker 6: And I say that they made the best of a
- 1:53:27Speaker 6: you know, an imperfect situation. You had a guy that
- 1:53:29Speaker 6: was really good for you and you decided you didn't
- 1:53:33Speaker 6: want to continue, and just so happened that you got
- 1:53:37Speaker 6: a guy that was even better in Jefferson.
- 1:53:40Speaker 1: Man, that's good drafting.
- 1:53:41Speaker 6: I just don't want to hear the guys that tell
- 1:53:43Speaker 6: me how hard it is to draft and then say
- 1:53:44Speaker 6: that that's my philosophy. Is that, like, I don't care
- 1:53:48Speaker 6: how good Stefan Diggs is, I'm just gonna let him
- 1:53:50Speaker 6: go because I'm just going to draft the next guy
- 1:53:51Speaker 6: because you tell me how hard it is every year.
- 1:53:54Speaker 6: It's an imperfect science and no one gets them right
- 1:53:57Speaker 6: all the time. So if if that's your plan, then
- 1:54:00Speaker 6: you're gonna lose. Yeah, I think it might be positions
- 1:54:03Speaker 6: specific a little bit too, like you know what I mean,
- 1:54:05Speaker 6: I because I I think you have to make choices
- 1:54:08Speaker 6: of what positions you really want to value. And you know,
- 1:54:11Speaker 6: even if you develop everybody, you can't keep everybody. And
- 1:54:13Speaker 6: maybe there are times like.
- 1:54:14Speaker 1: An elite player like Christian tell everybody. I get that, it's.
- 1:54:17Speaker 6: Great, but if you have you know, you drafted and
- 1:54:19Speaker 6: developed a very solid just let's say a guard, you know,
- 1:54:22Speaker 6: and I couldn't. I can't fault the team for saying,
- 1:54:25Speaker 6: you know what, we're going to reallocate those resources. And yeah,
- 1:54:27Speaker 6: it's a little iffy trying to get a guard in
- 1:54:29Speaker 6: the draft, but not like trying to go back and
- 1:54:31Speaker 6: get another elite one. To me, Mike, and when you
- 1:54:34Speaker 6: getting retained made sense, Like you drafted him, you know,
- 1:54:38Speaker 6: a Day three pick. He turned out to be a
- 1:54:40Speaker 6: good player for you, You retained him and you got
- 1:54:42Speaker 6: three more Well, this will be the third more additional
- 1:54:46Speaker 6: season that you got from him. I think that's a
- 1:54:47Speaker 6: good example of draft and developing. But that doesn't mean
- 1:54:52Speaker 6: I want to just maintain every guy because I drafted him.
- 1:54:55Speaker 6: I have to keep every one of these guys like
- 1:54:57Speaker 6: Kayshaun Booty is a good case study that have and
- 1:55:00Speaker 6: brought up.
- 1:55:00Speaker 1: He's been good for you.
- 1:55:01Speaker 6: That's you've certainly gotten good value out of a sixth
- 1:55:04Speaker 6: round pick. I would say to Mario Douglas as well
- 1:55:06Speaker 6: now as sixth round picks, though that's good value. I
- 1:55:09Speaker 6: don't need to retain both of those guys. I don't
- 1:55:11Speaker 6: need to retain either one of them if I feel
- 1:55:13Speaker 6: like I have better guys. Yeah, but you acknowledge that
- 1:55:17Speaker 6: as an organization, like organization, we haven't drafted this position. Well,
- 1:55:21Speaker 6: we've had a bad track record, but we've had a
- 1:55:23Speaker 6: good track record with this Does that come to influence
- 1:55:26Speaker 6: you know.
- 1:55:26Speaker 1: What I mean?
- 1:55:26Speaker 6: Because I still feel like it's kind of a crapshoot,
- 1:55:28Speaker 6: Like just because you haven't hit on the wide receiver forever,
- 1:55:30Speaker 6: it's like it's still you still might. But I never
- 1:55:32Speaker 6: operate under under the premise that I'm not going to
- 1:55:35Speaker 6: get a good one at that position. Because I haven't
- 1:55:36Speaker 6: gotten a good one at that position, I have to
- 1:55:38Speaker 6: think that one's going.
- 1:55:40Speaker 1: To be the same.
- 1:55:40Speaker 5: Regime changes and everything I just did. My bigger thing
- 1:55:43Speaker 5: with Gonzalez is not that they're gonna not retain Gonzales,
- 1:55:46Speaker 5: but at some point and Elliott Wolf talked about this
- 1:55:49Speaker 5: with Jory Epsky and Yahoo's Sports. So like Drake May's
- 1:55:52Speaker 5: contracts coming, Christian Gonzalez's contracts coming, Like there's gonna be
- 1:55:57Speaker 5: guys that you can't keep them all and you can't
- 1:55:59Speaker 5: pay everybody. So I'm not worried about them moving on
- 1:56:02Speaker 5: from Gonzales, but if they're going to pay Gonzalez and
- 1:56:05Speaker 5: they're going to have aj Brown on the team, and
- 1:56:06Speaker 5: then Drake May's extensions coming, like where's the money going out?
- 1:56:10Speaker 5: Because the money is right now, the money looks like
- 1:56:12Speaker 5: it's only going one way and it's in. At some point,
- 1:56:14Speaker 5: there's going to have to be some money out, and
- 1:56:16Speaker 5: who are those guys that eventually the money's going out?
- 1:56:18Speaker 6: That person, by the way, you were saying how everybody
- 1:56:21Speaker 6: thinks that they overpaid, Yeah, I couldn't believe that that's
- 1:56:24Speaker 6: all that the Eagles got for him, So not everybody
- 1:56:29Speaker 6: thinks that they overpaid.
- 1:56:30Speaker 3: A few emails I want to just get to that
- 1:56:33Speaker 3: caught my eye as we get to the end of
- 1:56:35Speaker 3: the show, Rhet writes, And we were talking earlier about
- 1:56:37Speaker 3: how all these wide receivers, especially if they did bring
- 1:56:39Speaker 3: back digs, would affect.
- 1:56:40Speaker 1: The running game.
- 1:56:42Speaker 3: Rhett says, I think Vrabel said run the ball more effectively,
- 1:56:45Speaker 3: not run more.
- 1:56:46Speaker 1: With all the wide receiving QB. Yeah, that is correct that.
- 1:56:50Speaker 3: With all the wide receiver and QB talent, they should
- 1:56:52Speaker 3: not be running the ball more than throwing unless they're
- 1:56:55Speaker 3: playing with a big lead.
- 1:56:57Speaker 1: I never said they would they wanted to run the ball.
- 1:56:59Speaker 1: I was not saying it did. He's not saying, but just.
- 1:57:01Speaker 6: Saying, I think that they want to run the ball more.
- 1:57:03Speaker 6: He's right the quote I might have said it. The
- 1:57:05Speaker 6: quote that Rabel had was he wants to run more.
- 1:57:08Speaker 6: I might I think if you do run it more consistently,
- 1:57:10Speaker 6: it's going to lead to more attempts.
- 1:57:12Speaker 1: I might have said.
- 1:57:13Speaker 3: They got very conservative in the players, and they don't
- 1:57:15Speaker 3: need to play scared.
- 1:57:17Speaker 1: They've got the talent. Now let it rip. They weren't
- 1:57:19Speaker 1: conservative in the playoffs. Disagree with the whole premise.
- 1:57:23Speaker 3: Eddie in La, I know, I didn't know Timothy Shallome
- 1:57:26Speaker 3: was at the game. All I saw was young Freddie
- 1:57:29Speaker 3: about that. Now he's too skinny. I wasn't skinny.
- 1:57:33Speaker 1: I know this is all just talk.
- 1:57:34Speaker 3: But with trading, either Thibodeaux or Sweat ruined the Akus project.
- 1:57:40Speaker 3: They feel that trade right now would mean he'll be
- 1:57:42Speaker 3: sitting this year, so let's worry about that if it happened.
- 1:57:46Speaker 5: I think all these teams, the good ones, are rotating
- 1:57:49Speaker 5: these guys a lot like Seattle did.
- 1:57:51Speaker 1: I couldn't even tell you the names of the guys.
- 1:57:53Speaker 3: Yea in l on Star Wars. I believe that George
- 1:57:57Speaker 3: Lucas has said that the original plans for the sequels seven,
- 1:58:01Speaker 3: eight to nine we're going to center around Luke searching
- 1:58:04Speaker 3: for his sister. So Mike is certainly correct there. Vader,
- 1:58:08Speaker 3: on the other hand, I think was always Luke's father.
- 1:58:11Speaker 1: It's possible. It's possible.
- 1:58:13Speaker 3: Well, there were books written in Star Wars.
- 1:58:15Speaker 5: There's a yeah everything, so yeah.
- 1:58:20Speaker 6: I do think when Obi Wan explains it to Luke
- 1:58:22Speaker 6: in the original Star Wars, he does seem like he's
- 1:58:24Speaker 6: kind of lying to him a little bit, like there
- 1:58:26Speaker 6: does seem some pauses, like he's delicately crafting this story.
- 1:58:30Speaker 6: So I do think that speaks to maybe it was
- 1:58:32Speaker 6: already in there.
- 1:58:33Speaker 3: But I think in every one of these serials you
- 1:58:37Speaker 3: have to have some no, you have to have some
- 1:58:41Speaker 3: mechanism where somebody is somebody's.
- 1:58:43Speaker 5: Parents, you know, Ray's grandfather is Palpatine.
- 1:58:48Speaker 3: Whatever, three hours where John Snow finally was and remember yeah,
- 1:58:58Speaker 3: all right, that's gonna be it for this week's Patriots Unfiltered.
- 1:59:02Speaker 3: I've made the decision. Next Thursday will be three to five.
- 1:59:07Speaker 1: Okay, okay, decision made. Emails of come in.
