- 0:02[SPEAKER_01]: Bill's Mafia happy Friday.
- 0:04[SPEAKER_01]: We are two days, we're 48 hours away from Bill's and Patriots.
- 0:08[SPEAKER_01]: It seemed like this week has taken forever to get through a big rivalry week.
- 0:12[SPEAKER_01]: We're going to talk a little bit about the Sabers game from last night.
- 0:16[SPEAKER_01]: We're going to take away from that.
- 0:17[SPEAKER_01]: And obviously, we're going to give you our preview, keys to the game, players to watch.
- 0:20[SPEAKER_01]: All that good stuff.
- 0:21[SPEAKER_01]: That's Greg.
- 0:22[SPEAKER_01]: I'm Dave.
- 0:23[SPEAKER_01]: This is 1st and 5 on the built-in Buffalo podcast network.
- 0:48[SPEAKER_01]: Greg, happy Friday to you.
- 0:50[SPEAKER_01]: Happy Patriots, Eve, Eve, I suppose.
- 0:54[SPEAKER_01]: How are we doing, man?
- 0:56[SPEAKER_00]: I'm good, man.
- 0:56[SPEAKER_00]: It's not a, it's not a Saber's victory Friday.
- 0:58[SPEAKER_00]: It's okay.
- 0:59[SPEAKER_00]: Sandra's in the chat already.
- 1:00[SPEAKER_00]: She waking it up, so what's up, Sandra?
- 1:02[SPEAKER_01]: Sandra is here every show.
- 1:04[SPEAKER_01]: Sandra, you are the best.
- 1:06[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know, what's the correct terminology that the kids are throwing out through these days?
- 1:09[SPEAKER_01]: It's not like when we were kids, Sandra, you're the bomb.
- 1:13[SPEAKER_01]: Like, I don't know, what else we supposed to say.
- 1:15[SPEAKER_00]: Whatever word I say, it is not so I've got my I'm purposely wrong with my kids.
- 1:21[SPEAKER_00]: So I will cringe us a word.
- 1:24[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I will use old terminology on purpose and like dad.
- 1:29[SPEAKER_00]: And I was teasing around drip.
- 1:32[SPEAKER_00]: I was like, don't ever say that again, Dad, don't ever say that again.
- 1:35[SPEAKER_01]: Your game day, your game day drips.
- 1:37[SPEAKER_00]: So I made up a word which is super cringe, which I've been waiting a month to drop on him just the right time.
- 1:47[SPEAKER_00]: And my other son, my youngest son knows what it is and he keeps like, Dad is now the time is now the time.
- 1:53[SPEAKER_00]: So, so my oldest son is listening on his lunch break right now.
- 1:58[SPEAKER_00]: It's coming.
- 2:01[SPEAKER_01]: It's going to happen just when you don't expect it's going to happen.
- 2:04[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, my kids are they're sort of to that age.
- 2:07[SPEAKER_01]: My daughter's 10.
- 2:08[SPEAKER_01]: My son will be 12 in January.
- 2:10[SPEAKER_01]: So I'm still kind of cool.
- 2:14[SPEAKER_01]: I think I don't know.
- 2:15[SPEAKER_01]: There's times when my daughter and her friends will look at me like, no, we're not doing that.
- 2:20[SPEAKER_01]: So, but anyways, yeah, let's get let's let's move past that that super cringe dad stuff.
- 2:26[SPEAKER_01]: So, yeah, so Saber's played last night.
- 2:28[SPEAKER_01]: They played a game last night.
- 2:32[SPEAKER_01]: And there's already the hell of a buck memes and jiffes are out there and I thought about it.
- 2:40[SPEAKER_01]: I might have posted something a little overreacting because once the Sabers won up one nothing I was like all right here we go Sam Wilson I'm glad he's playing see that's why he we needed him to play and then it was like a blink of an eye it was three to one Columbus and I was like what just happened?
- 2:57[SPEAKER_01]: And then there was just some kind of stupid penalties that the Sabers were taking power play looks as bad as it ever has I don't know why they can't get that right
- 3:07[SPEAKER_01]: UPL led it he led in a couple goals that I think he should have had a couple of weren't his fault but there was a couple goals when I'm like this is the UPL we got at the end of the Montreal series this is the UPL that we got in the Boston series and it's a reason why they put lying in so
- 3:23[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know man like we'll have to see how the the next month goes I guess before there's a panic with with your mo and trying to figure the stuff out but what's your thoughts you know David's game one so in a short and because they extended the season which I can't believe they did that for two games but two games short and training camp so.
- 3:44[SPEAKER_00]: Like less time to get the rust out and I'm going to chalk it up to game one, but like I've never been a UPL fan.
- 3:51[SPEAKER_00]: I've never been a UPL hate or he's just kind of go back to kids from it and like he's just kind of mid.
- 3:56[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, right.
- 3:57[SPEAKER_00]: He has good games yet back in at the last night was a below average game.
- 4:02[SPEAKER_00]: Like, here's how I look at Goli's and like hockey, you're going to get the bad bounces that of flexions, the defensive breakdowns every now and then.
- 4:11[SPEAKER_00]: Those things are going to happen.
- 4:12[SPEAKER_00]: We got a couple of bounces last night or deflections last night that we're not his fault.
- 4:17[SPEAKER_00]: But those are going to happen.
- 4:18[SPEAKER_00]: Right.
- 4:19[SPEAKER_00]: You're going to need a couple of big saves, third period.
- 4:21[SPEAKER_00]: He had a couple of big saves, right?
- 4:22[SPEAKER_00]: He had the two on one.
- 4:23[SPEAKER_00]: He had the breakaway, great job.
- 4:25[SPEAKER_00]: But I need that from a goal on a contending team.
- 4:30[SPEAKER_00]: And then I need you to make the stops you need to make.
- 4:32[SPEAKER_00]: And he thought I would say two to definite that he should have had last night.
- 4:37[SPEAKER_00]: And you can't have two of those things happen and expect to win games.
- 4:40[SPEAKER_00]: I don't care how much you score.
- 4:42[SPEAKER_00]: Um, what's the saber's got the four or three.
- 4:44[SPEAKER_00]: I'm like, oh, they're probably going to win this thing.
- 4:45[SPEAKER_00]: Like I felt good about it.
- 4:46[SPEAKER_00]: But we could get you made up for it.
- 4:48[SPEAKER_00]: But like they looked off to me, um, crevier.
- 4:52[SPEAKER_00]: I thought in the second period, I'm watching him skate and I'm like, that looks like a fifth year old me out there.
- 4:57[SPEAKER_00]: Skate.
- 4:59[SPEAKER_00]: Very stiff and I'm like, we just signed this dude after never playing a game for us.
- 5:03[SPEAKER_00]: We signed him to a four year deal.
- 5:05[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I'm hoping he's just kind of getting used to the system.
- 5:07[SPEAKER_00]: But he looked really bad for me last night.
- 5:10[SPEAKER_00]: So I don't know, my level of concern is with the goaly fairly high, because I don't think Lyon is, I mean, Lyon's just another mid-guy and I don't think Colton Ellis is ready to play 23rd games a year.
- 5:23[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, he's literally a wild card, likes literally wild, when he plays.
- 5:28[SPEAKER_00]: So I don't know.
- 5:29[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, they're expecting young guys to fill holes, which they very well may.
- 5:32[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, the young guys, but they are all good last night.
- 5:36[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 5:36[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 5:37[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, they've got some points.
- 5:37[SPEAKER_00]: And I still like to see coolic kind of move up to a non-fourth liner.
- 5:43[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 5:44[SPEAKER_00]: But then we come, right?
- 5:44[SPEAKER_00]: And this might be conditioned.
- 5:46[SPEAKER_01]: I think that's a thing too.
- 5:47[SPEAKER_01]: I think Ruff is still trying to figure the lines out too with where he wants to put all these guys.
- 5:51[SPEAKER_01]: So we'll see.
- 5:52[SPEAKER_01]: All right, the next topic, I'm probably going to anger a lot of people and I told Greg before we went live that this came out yesterday.
- 5:59[SPEAKER_01]: Well, it didn't come out yesterday, but it was made a big deal on social media yesterday.
- 6:05[SPEAKER_01]: And I'm probably going to upset a lot of people that are watching this video.
- 6:08[SPEAKER_01]: People are probably going to think that I'm overreacting what have you, but I want to give my take on it.
- 6:13[SPEAKER_01]: the whole water situation at Highmark Stadium.
- 6:16[SPEAKER_01]: Now, the official Twitter account, X account, however you call it these days, for Highmark Stadium, put out a video about you can get free complimentary water now at the stadium.
- 6:31[SPEAKER_01]: And a lot of people were like, okay, that's kind of funny.
- 6:33[SPEAKER_01]: They're poking fun at things like they have a sarcastic tone to the stuff they've been posted.
- 6:37[SPEAKER_01]: They posted something earlier in the week about the bottle cap that was on.
- 6:41[SPEAKER_01]: It was on the concrete in front of the stadium.
- 6:43[SPEAKER_01]: And they said, don't worry, we'll have this cleaned up.
- 6:45[SPEAKER_01]: And a lot of people thought, okay, that's kind of a subtle shot that the fans are over analyzing everything at the stadium.
- 6:53[SPEAKER_01]: Like how clean everything is.
- 6:55[SPEAKER_01]: And they're kind of poking fun.
- 6:56[SPEAKER_01]: I thought that was kind of funny.
- 6:57[SPEAKER_01]: It was kind of like you could tell
- 7:00[SPEAKER_01]: trying to poke fun of things, whatever, find the water thing to me.
- 7:05[SPEAKER_01]: And I know the guys, Tim Graham on WGR, they were talking about it yesterday.
- 7:09[SPEAKER_01]: I know some other outlets were talking about it.
- 7:11[SPEAKER_01]: It's not the fact that they're giving out free water.
- 7:14[SPEAKER_01]: The whole story behind this is the PSL owners and people that are buying tickets to the game,
- 7:21[SPEAKER_01]: We're asking, hey, what is the policy for us to bring in refillable water bottles to the stadium?
- 7:29[SPEAKER_01]: Are we allowed to do that?
- 7:31[SPEAKER_01]: Are we allowed to bring in water at all?
- 7:33[SPEAKER_01]: Period, right?
- 7:34[SPEAKER_01]: they asked the bills PR, like can we do this?
- 7:37[SPEAKER_01]: Is this possible?
- 7:39[SPEAKER_01]: It's still hot outside, like we don't want to drink beer all game or soda or, you know, what have you or we have kids, whatever it is.
- 7:47[SPEAKER_01]: And there was no response from the bills.
- 7:49[SPEAKER_01]: There was no response from the organization.
- 7:51[SPEAKER_01]: So one of the guys on one of the new stations asked, he said, hey, what's going out with the water situation?
- 8:00[SPEAKER_01]: You know, can we get an answer to our people allowed
- 8:05[SPEAKER_01]: What have you so it went a couple days and after like the fourth day like the guy was like can we just get an answer like there's a game literally Sunday, you know, can we get an answer.
- 8:16[SPEAKER_01]: So then that's when the video from Highmark came out with the person carrying the cup up to the complimentary water station, filling the cup and goes sitting down.
- 8:24[SPEAKER_01]: Now I didn't have a problem with the video.
- 8:26[SPEAKER_01]: I had a problem with how the whole thing kind of.
- 8:30[SPEAKER_01]: like was laid out like can you just tell the fans or give the fans an answer?
- 8:36[SPEAKER_01]: They've been really good so far about like hey we've put extra ribbon scoreboards up so that you can see what the down in distances.
- 8:42[SPEAKER_01]: Hey you know if we've taken care of this we've heard all your complaints about you know lines or food or the beer situation.
- 8:49[SPEAKER_01]: Whatever like they've taken care of a lot of that stuff and to me coming from the the
- 9:00[SPEAKER_01]: poking back at the fans.
- 9:02[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know, like I felt the sarcastic tone of that whole thing was, like just supposed to, just supposed to picture saying, hey, now just so you know, there's free water inside the stadium.
- 9:13[SPEAKER_01]: John, it was just like, I felt like they were talking to children, like the social media was totally toned.
- 9:21[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 9:21[SPEAKER_00]: It's totally toned up.
- 9:22[SPEAKER_01]: It's like, I feel like they were telling like, here's how you get a cup of water.
- 9:27[SPEAKER_01]: You take a cup and you walk up to the thing and you push a button and then you take your water and you go take your happy self back to your seat and you go sit down.
- 9:35[SPEAKER_01]: And now maybe that's not what it was intended, but it doesn't matter because perception is everything, especially on social media, there's no
- 9:42[SPEAKER_01]: Like, there's no way to understand what they meant by that.
- 9:47[SPEAKER_01]: Everybody's going to perceive it the way they see it.
- 9:49[SPEAKER_01]: And to me, I just, I was like, this is tone deaf because just tell the fans that there's free water now.
- 9:56[SPEAKER_01]: That's all you need to do.
- 9:57[SPEAKER_01]: Make a graphic, put it up there, say there's free water at the stadium.
- 10:00[SPEAKER_01]: Fans have been asking, we've listened, here you go.
- 10:03[SPEAKER_01]: You know what I'm saying?
- 10:04[SPEAKER_01]: Like, and I'm probably overreacting, but it's like,
- 10:07[SPEAKER_01]: they're just not understanding like you have people pain for PSLs, you have people shouting out a ton of money to go to these games and the ticket prices of all going up.
- 10:17[SPEAKER_01]: And this has nothing to do with ticket prices, but if people are, it's your customer base, right?
- 10:22[SPEAKER_01]: Like if you went into a store,
- 10:23[SPEAKER_01]: consistently and you ask the owner of the store questions and he didn't answer you, you're going to be mad, right?
- 10:29[SPEAKER_01]: You're going to be like, can I just get an answer?
- 10:31[SPEAKER_01]: What can I do here or a restaurant or whatever?
- 10:34[SPEAKER_01]: Any kind of service?
- 10:35[SPEAKER_01]: Whatever.
- 10:35[SPEAKER_01]: So I don't know.
- 10:36[SPEAKER_01]: What's your what's your thoughts on it?
- 10:39[SPEAKER_00]: I think you can't you have to have a clear bag to get into a game now.
- 10:44[SPEAKER_00]: I don't care if it is a minor league baseball game, a high school football game or NFL game.
- 10:51[SPEAKER_00]: You need to clear bag.
- 10:53[SPEAKER_00]: Anyone with the expectation that they're carrying in a stainless steel water bottle into the stadium.
- 11:00[SPEAKER_00]: It should be removed, right, not the person, but like the thought out of the head.
- 11:04[SPEAKER_00]: Right.
- 11:05[SPEAKER_00]: We are throwing
- 11:07[SPEAKER_00]: Feminine, I don't know what they call them.
- 11:11[SPEAKER_00]: Feminine and wellness products onto the field at players, i.e.
- 11:15[SPEAKER_00]: Tom Brady.
- 11:16[SPEAKER_00]: Like, and we expect people to come in there after drinking all day with stainless steel water bottles and expect that to go well.
- 11:22[SPEAKER_00]: So no, okay, now, do you get a free cup of water?
- 11:25[SPEAKER_00]: Can you go and find a free cup somewhere?
- 11:27[SPEAKER_00]: Can you ask the concession stand and do you get an answer?
- 11:30[SPEAKER_00]: And if you don't get the answer, that's a legitimate question, right?
- 11:36[SPEAKER_00]: like, I can't bring a bottle into a stadium.
- 11:39[SPEAKER_00]: Like, I don't know, that's the outrage, I don't need it.
- 11:43[SPEAKER_00]: Now, can you bring an empty clear aquafina bottle uncapped into the stadium?
- 11:49[SPEAKER_00]: To me, that's a legitimate question, because if you go say,
- 11:53[SPEAKER_00]: Some stadiums allow you to bring unopened bottles or an open bottle in, they limit it.
- 11:59[SPEAKER_00]: You go to a Colorado Rockies game, you can bring up the two bottles in, closed, and a bag of peanuts, right?
- 12:06[SPEAKER_00]: And they got people selling them for a buck out front.
- 12:08[SPEAKER_00]: It's great.
- 12:09[SPEAKER_00]: But they also don't draw well, and it's also not the NFL.
- 12:11[SPEAKER_00]: So,
- 12:13[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know, like if you're getting to your point, Dave, if you're getting to the, like hey, I just want to know where do I get a cup from and where do I fill it up and how do I get that and they're not giving you the right answer, that's an NFL, that's a bills issue, right?
- 12:27[SPEAKER_00]: And that's where the social media post should have been like,
- 12:30[SPEAKER_00]: exactly what you said.
- 12:32[SPEAKER_00]: It's like, hey, sorry for the confusion.
- 12:34[SPEAKER_00]: Here's how to do it.
- 12:36[SPEAKER_00]: And then you can maybe have a follow-up, like with a little bit of fun there, but this came across totally.
- 12:42[SPEAKER_00]: Don't I don't even care, right?
- 12:43[SPEAKER_00]: And this came across totally, don't don't don't you have to maybe I'm like, oh, we don't care about you because water's stupid.
- 12:51[SPEAKER_00]: So let's do this, let's do this dumb video and just poke fun of everyone.
- 12:54[SPEAKER_00]: And that's the
- 12:55[SPEAKER_00]: That's an issue to me and just to answer the stupid question in foreign people and the conversations done and we're not having it here So I don't sometimes the bills in the sabers like they're spot on with stuff they do and sometimes they are just so way off the radar and stuff and this is one of the issues they were just off Nicholas city judges Anyways, time
- 13:17[SPEAKER_01]: All right, let's move on for that because we probably just lost everybody that's watching.
- 13:21[SPEAKER_01]: They probably just off the video, these two old guys get off my lawn like right and we're getting, we're getting that energy, but let's talk about the Patriots.
- 13:29[SPEAKER_01]: It's the last show that we're going to do before the game, so we're going to do like we do every Friday.
- 13:34[SPEAKER_01]: We're going to break things down.
- 13:36[SPEAKER_01]: Sometimes we have guests, sometimes we don't today.
- 13:38[SPEAKER_01]: It's just Greg and myself.
- 13:39[SPEAKER_01]: We're going to break things down.
- 13:41[SPEAKER_01]: I do want to mention, though, Greg,
- 13:44[SPEAKER_01]: We've been talking about the secondary a lot.
- 13:47[SPEAKER_01]: I think everybody has.
- 13:48[SPEAKER_01]: I think it's just, it's a hot topic, whether it's Christian Benford, whether it's the safeties, whether it's IGB, it's he gonna play.
- 13:57[SPEAKER_01]: What do we have with Max Harrison?
- 13:58[SPEAKER_01]: So I saw this floating around next gen stats and I'm sure if you're on Twitter, it's been making the rounds this morning.
- 14:04[SPEAKER_01]: Good day.
- 14:05[SPEAKER_01]: A lot of people have been reposting this saying
- 14:09[SPEAKER_01]: Why, why is everybody complaining that we have a Maxwell Harrison problem, like why is everybody complaining that he hasn't been playing up to the first round grade that he is and all this stuff?
- 14:19[SPEAKER_01]: He's the second best corner right now as far as completion percent.
- 14:23[SPEAKER_01]: Completion percent is allowed, right?
- 14:25[SPEAKER_01]: Doesn't have the picture yet.
- 14:26[SPEAKER_01]: I'm sure those will come in time as the season progresses.
- 14:30[SPEAKER_01]: But he is the second best corner besides Trent McDuffie, who is an all pro.
- 14:34[SPEAKER_01]: And then look at some of the other names on here, Christian Gonzales and Reeble and Tows.
- 14:39[SPEAKER_01]: What's your thoughts on this, man?
- 14:40[SPEAKER_01]: Like we've talked about the secondary, I kind of feel like we've beaten it over the head, several weeks and row now from what we've seen through three games, looked a little bit better on Sunday against the charges.
- 14:52[SPEAKER_01]: What's your take on Mad Max getting some props here for what he's doing?
- 14:58[SPEAKER_00]: Small sample size, but I would much rather be on that list than not on that list.
- 15:02[SPEAKER_00]: So I think it's awesome that he's on the list.
- 15:05[SPEAKER_00]: This is kind of what we,
- 15:07[SPEAKER_00]: Not only hoping for, but last year, kind of what we envisioned from getting out of a new corner, right in adding to that room here, and hopefully IGB can continuing and move up those charges as well, so, you know.
- 15:22[SPEAKER_00]: Right, what he wasn't watching you is, he was looking at clouds.
- 15:26[SPEAKER_00]: Okay, real quick.
- 15:28[SPEAKER_00]: Dave, I'm sorry, I gotta go back to the water.
- 15:29[SPEAKER_00]: Just super cognizant.
- 15:31[SPEAKER_00]: I would get back to it.
- 15:32[SPEAKER_01]: He was watching clouds, water comes from cloud.
- 15:34[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know.
- 15:35[SPEAKER_00]: I think it is awesome the bills are providing water because up until now, every time you need to water, you had to either walk to a sink and fill up in a water bottle, you had to buy water.
- 15:45[SPEAKER_00]: That is how the most stadiums of most sports are.
- 15:47[SPEAKER_00]: So, by the way, handling of the issue, bad, providing free water to customers to bills, attendees, awesome.
- 15:55[SPEAKER_00]: Okay, back to here.
- 15:56[SPEAKER_01]: As long as it's not out of one of the troughs, oh, wait, those, those, do we, we, so I, I don't want to ask.
- 16:03[SPEAKER_00]: Back to Harrison.
- 16:03[SPEAKER_00]: I'd much ask you on that.
- 16:04[SPEAKER_00]: It's small sample size.
- 16:05[SPEAKER_00]: I'd much rather be on that list than on that list.
- 16:07[SPEAKER_00]: I think it's great.
- 16:08[SPEAKER_00]: He's on there.
- 16:08[SPEAKER_00]: And I hope that continues.
- 16:11[SPEAKER_00]: He's going to get tested.
- 16:12[SPEAKER_00]: Like, well, let's look at this again at by week is he's going to be tested more so next week.
- 16:17[SPEAKER_00]: Next week.
- 16:18[SPEAKER_00]: But create the beyond there.
- 16:20[SPEAKER_00]: And Gonzalez, like we know he's good.
- 16:22[SPEAKER_00]: He got paid.
- 16:25[SPEAKER_00]: My gut, we'll talk about elevations.
- 16:27[SPEAKER_00]: My gut tells me he plays this week, but he's got to show the issue.
- 16:29[SPEAKER_00]: So he might be able to clutch and grab, like he likes to do.
- 16:35[SPEAKER_01]: beat on that list is a good thing because that's one of the stats that never gets put out if you're just a like a box score watcher you see okay how many tackles how many force fumbles sacks things like that but if he's on that list that means we're not talking about him during the game because he's not getting beat and he's not just the guy that's just there making the tackles right that's been my thing with with cornerbacks for a long time
- 16:59[SPEAKER_01]: If they're not being talked about, that's good because they're not getting beat or they're not just the guy that's there making the tackle because they gave up a reception right so that's good that he's in obviously the sample sizes just three games and the bills are doing the route they were doing the rotating thing with IGB and Harrison before Benford one out and then IGB took over for Benford so it's going to be interesting to see if.
- 17:24[SPEAKER_01]: You know, I don't think this is the week where any of that stuff with the secondary changes.
- 17:29[SPEAKER_01]: If anything, and we'll talk about it later, this should be a week where we see improvement, building off of what they did last week against the chargers.
- 17:36[SPEAKER_01]: Because I don't think that the Patriots have the weapons that can beat you.
- 17:39[SPEAKER_01]: You know, Mac Hollins, he's probably a decent, you know,
- 17:45[SPEAKER_01]: possession receiver and we'll get into that here in a little bit.
- 17:48[SPEAKER_01]: But all right, one more thing to that I want to touch on.
- 17:52[SPEAKER_01]: And I had to look this up because I didn't think it was accurate.
- 17:57[SPEAKER_01]: Greg Russo being defensive player of the month shout out group.
- 18:01[SPEAKER_01]: He's playing phenomenal.
- 18:05[SPEAKER_01]: That's the first time that Josh Allen's ever had a player on his defense be defensive player of the month.
- 18:14[SPEAKER_01]: It's weird, and I've seen, I've seen people on both sides of the fence about this talking about, well, hey, got an offensive-minded head coach now, and we get a defensive player the month.
- 18:26[SPEAKER_01]: That's weird how that works, and then the McDermott Truthers will come out and say, well, there should have been times when try you should have got it.
- 18:33[SPEAKER_01]: You know, Trabur and I should have got it a couple of times.
- 18:35[SPEAKER_01]: Trabur and Edmund should have got it, you know, like you know, whatever, whatever, whatever, Malano.
- 18:40[SPEAKER_01]: So what's your thoughts on that?
- 18:42[SPEAKER_01]: The last, and then I'll ask you who, who, if you know who the last builds defensive player was to get defensive player the month.
- 18:51[SPEAKER_00]: I don't pay attention to these as most of his, much as other people tend to do.
- 18:56[SPEAKER_00]: So I saw this and my first thought was,
- 19:01[SPEAKER_00]: It took an offensive coach to get this out of them, right?
- 19:05[SPEAKER_00]: And I was actually surprised.
- 19:06[SPEAKER_00]: So I would have thought at some point, over a nine-year run with the defensive head coach, where the defenses have typically fall for whatever metric you want to use, whether you believe you're not mid to upper pack of the defense mode, you know, NFL defenses most of those years, you would think laws of averages would get you at least one.
- 19:29[SPEAKER_00]: it takes an offensive coach to get that.
- 19:30[SPEAKER_00]: So I was actually shocked by it.
- 19:32[SPEAKER_00]: I think it's awesome for Rousseau that he's getting some props.
- 19:36[SPEAKER_00]: Well deserved by the way, he's had a remarkable start to his season, but I was really surprised that a defensive coach couldn't get it.
- 19:43[SPEAKER_00]: You know, it also Dave, we all, I think most people would look at the defense last year and say make thermated a really good job coach in that out because we look at the people playing defensive and what they
- 19:56[SPEAKER_00]: Kind of speaks to how consistent he was with not elite players or not elite scheme at a bunch of different positions in general.
- 20:06[SPEAKER_00]: So, I don't know, kind of kudos to McDermt same time, but I can't believe he didn't have one in that time.
- 20:14[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it's crazy too, because that's a whole and other conversation we could have about McDermt playing with the talent that he had because on the flip side,
- 20:26[SPEAKER_01]: has Greg Russo been playing in the now it's three games let's let's see how this goes the rest of the season if he keeps playing like this the rest of the season I'm not saying getting two sacks every game but he's excellent in the run he's been getting the pressures he's hitting the quarterback he's getting the force fumbles and I'm not saying he's going to have 34 sacks I'm not saying that but has he been playing in the wrong system this entire time is this to Greg Russo that was drafted in the first round and I think I kind of touched on it
- 20:55[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, did Jim Leonard unlock something that was there this entire time that just needed to be, he just needed to be able to play free?
- 21:03[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know, we'll see.
- 21:05[SPEAKER_01]: And I think the addition of Bradley Chub has gone highly undersold to the fan base.
- 21:11[SPEAKER_01]: I think people know who Bradley Chub is.
- 21:12[SPEAKER_01]: I think they know he got a big contract.
- 21:14[SPEAKER_01]: What the addition of him out there with Russo at the same time,
- 21:18[SPEAKER_01]: I feel like that's unlocking a lot of plus from a leadership standpoint, like Bradley Chubb, I'm not saying he's played a whole lot more than Greg Russo has, but he's been more successful at the position and Bradley Chubb is a three four outside linebacker.
- 21:37[SPEAKER_01]: This is the system, and this is why the bill's got him.
- 21:39[SPEAKER_01]: This is the system he needs to play in.
- 21:40[SPEAKER_01]: So that's why Jim Leonard has, he said earlier in the office, he's like, he was made, he was built for this, this defense.
- 21:46[SPEAKER_01]: So it's going to be interesting to see if we're so can keep that up.
- 21:49[SPEAKER_01]: And then I did ask you, did you, do you know who the last bill's offensive player of the month was?
- 21:54[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, man, well, I know it's not the last nine years.
- 21:57[SPEAKER_00]: Let me go.
- 21:58[SPEAKER_01]: Fan favorite.
- 22:01[SPEAKER_00]: Oh.
- 22:02[SPEAKER_00]: I was going to say, I was going to say, I was going to say, I was going to say it to Q of spikes.
- 22:05[SPEAKER_00]: I'm not way back.
- 22:06[SPEAKER_01]: No, it's, it's after that, lifetime lifetime Buffalo Bill with him, the only team he played for was the bills, come on, man, he played with Josh for a couple years.
- 22:31[SPEAKER_01]: Uh, he scored a touchdown against my, against Miami.
- 22:39[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, against Miami, uh, he scored a rushing touchdown against Miami.
- 22:43[SPEAKER_01]: He had a reception as well.
- 22:46[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, Kyle Williams.
- 22:47[SPEAKER_01]: Yep.
- 22:48[SPEAKER_01]: That's the last Buffalo build a wind defensive player of the month.
- 22:51[SPEAKER_01]: That's crazy, right?
- 22:54[SPEAKER_01]: But anyways, all right, let's keep him moving.
- 22:56[SPEAKER_01]: All right.
- 22:57[SPEAKER_01]: So I got a bunch of notes.
- 22:59[SPEAKER_01]: Well,
- 23:00[SPEAKER_01]: You know, I usually have a bunch of notes.
- 23:02[SPEAKER_00]: Well, there would put him under the McDermott era then.
- 23:07[SPEAKER_01]: I, I have to look at the year.
- 23:09[SPEAKER_01]: I think it was perform McDermott.
- 23:12[SPEAKER_00]: I think it was 2000.
- 23:13[SPEAKER_00]: But couldn't bet if Josh was on the scene.
- 23:15[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, he played with Josh.
- 23:16[SPEAKER_00]: I can't.
- 23:17[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, yeah, yeah, I'm off.
- 23:18[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, yeah.
- 23:18[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 23:19[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 23:19[SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
- 23:21[SPEAKER_01]: Now you thrown me off.
- 23:22[SPEAKER_01]: All right.
- 23:24[SPEAKER_01]: Let's talk about keys to the game because we can go in a whole bunch of different directions.
- 23:30[SPEAKER_01]: I think it's, I think, honestly, this could be a conversation that we can, we can jump all over the place because Drake may, and I said this yesterday to a friend of mine if they can either sack him early and get under his skin early or force a turnover early.
- 23:48[SPEAKER_01]: I feel like,
- 23:50[SPEAKER_01]: this poor guy, man, and I hate to say this because a lot of fans are going to be like screw the patriots, screw Drake, me, screw Mike Rable, but I kind of feel bad for Drake me.
- 23:58[SPEAKER_01]: Honestly, like, and I never believe what I would have said that last season, right, because how good he was, but I think this dude's confidence is just shot.
- 24:07[SPEAKER_01]: I think,
- 24:09[SPEAKER_01]: Whatever's going on inside his head, I don't know if it's fixable.
- 24:13[SPEAKER_01]: Hopefully it is, but if the bills can get to him early and rattle him early, we've seen that he plays scared.
- 24:20[SPEAKER_01]: His feet are dancing all over the pocket.
- 24:22[SPEAKER_01]: He makes horrible decisions.
- 24:24[SPEAKER_01]: He can't hold onto the ball.
- 24:26[SPEAKER_01]: What's your thoughts, is that the biggest key, I think is just a frustrated Drake mate early and just get him out of a rhythm and then make them play catch up.
- 24:34[SPEAKER_01]: And if you make them play catch up, he's gonna make mistakes
- 24:39[SPEAKER_01]: What's your thoughts?
- 24:40[SPEAKER_00]: I kind of hope he goes all of rickering, keel, and just never kind of recovers.
- 24:44[SPEAKER_00]: Ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha
- 25:01[SPEAKER_00]: Michael, you make him one dimensional.
- 25:03[SPEAKER_00]: You put, you make him put those doubts.
- 25:08[SPEAKER_00]: Like those doubts are already in his head.
- 25:10[SPEAKER_00]: He's gonna have to feed.
- 25:11[SPEAKER_00]: Like my guess is he's gonna feel, he's gonna make the perfect throw in the perfect three.
- 25:15[SPEAKER_00]: And that stuff kind of boils up on you.
- 25:17[SPEAKER_00]: And you start taking that extra half a second, the process stuff, that extra half a second gets you killed in the NFL.
- 25:23[SPEAKER_00]: So if you can take away the run and make him one dimensional, I think you start to
- 25:29[SPEAKER_00]: Like you've got a really leg up advantage and Jim Leonard should be able to turn people loose there the problem comes in.
- 25:35[SPEAKER_00]: See, we make them on the mention on these corners can't keep up with these receivers.
- 25:40[SPEAKER_00]: You might start building that confident.
- 25:41[SPEAKER_00]: So I'll take that bet.
- 25:43[SPEAKER_00]: I'll take that gamble any day of the week and be like, I'll bet new fold.
- 25:48[SPEAKER_00]: But if you can make him on the mention or close to, I think this one's over.
- 25:53[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I've seen a lot of people this week too, especially Patriots media saying that this is a, this should be a run heavy game for the Patriots.
- 26:03[SPEAKER_01]: The bills run defense is performing better.
- 26:07[SPEAKER_01]: There are some advanced analytics that say that the bills are giving up certain amount of longer carries, but then there's shutting things down.
- 26:15[SPEAKER_01]: Like, if you look at the yards per carry, they're doing really well.
- 26:19[SPEAKER_01]: Like, light years ahead of last year and Jim Leonard said, all off season.
- 26:25[SPEAKER_01]: that the biggest focus of it like that they needed to get better at over last year or whatever just as a unit as a whole was against the run and Joe Moreno when he was on here at
- 26:37[SPEAKER_01]: was talking about Greg Gaines and we can't talk enough about how Greg Gaines has impacted players like Dion Walker and the stuff that he's been able to do, if you watch the games, he's in on the early downs.
- 26:50[SPEAKER_01]: That's when he's supposed to be in there.
- 26:51[SPEAKER_01]: He's he's a nose tackle.
- 26:53[SPEAKER_01]: He's the guy that's supposed to eat up blocks, free lanes for linebackers.
- 26:56[SPEAKER_01]: And that's what he's doing.
- 26:58[SPEAKER_01]: He's not playing, you know, 70% of the game.
- 27:01[SPEAKER_01]: He's playing when he's supposed to be out there for what they brought him into
- 27:07[SPEAKER_01]: And they should be because I think he was brought in to do what he's doing.
- 27:10[SPEAKER_01]: And I feel like as the season progresses, he's going to get noticed more and more because we're going to start looking for it.
- 27:17[SPEAKER_01]: So I don't know, I was watching a Patriots podcast this morning before we came on.
- 27:23[SPEAKER_01]: And they were talking about not that's keep harping on Drake make because you know, we've done it all week, but.
- 27:29[SPEAKER_01]: They were talking about the confidence issue and they're talking about and I'm going to ask you this.
- 27:36[SPEAKER_01]: If his confidence, or he's got something going on, even if it's something whether it's in the locker room outside the locker room, something's going on, does that affect your play and a couple of the guys were like, no, he's an NFL football player like if he's got stuff at home that's going on that shouldn't affect his play and thinking to myself,
- 27:57[SPEAKER_01]: and this is kind of a weird take, but he's got a head coach with all that offseason crap that happened, who's now standing up in front of a at a press conference, talking with all these religious quotes.
- 28:08[SPEAKER_01]: Like, are we supposed to take you serious?
- 28:11[SPEAKER_01]: And then we don't know what is being said between Mike Rable and Drake may, like in the locker room on the field, whatever.
- 28:18[SPEAKER_01]: And that's why I initially asked him, can the confidence thing be fixed because if he doesn't
- 28:27[SPEAKER_01]: And the head coach doesn't have the trust in him.
- 28:30[SPEAKER_01]: That relationship's broken.
- 28:31[SPEAKER_01]: Like, how do you fix that?
- 28:33[SPEAKER_01]: You know what I mean?
- 28:34[SPEAKER_01]: That's like having a coworker that you just don't trust.
- 28:37[SPEAKER_01]: Like, are you gonna go to them all the time?
- 28:38[SPEAKER_01]: Say, hey, I need your help with this?
- 28:40[SPEAKER_01]: You know what I mean?
- 28:41[SPEAKER_01]: It's a weird thing.
- 28:43[SPEAKER_01]: And I know we're talking about keys to the game and I don't want to just keep eating a dead horse with Drake, maybe, but I think it's a huge thing.
- 28:49[SPEAKER_01]: I just, this cannot be the game that he figures it out.
- 28:53[SPEAKER_01]: It just can't be.
- 28:57[SPEAKER_01]: he's just dinking and dunking and they score and Josh's playing reactionary and things like that.
- 29:04[SPEAKER_01]: Like they need to rattle him and Jim Leonard needs to dial up some stuff that's gonna bury this team.
- 29:10[SPEAKER_01]: I hate to use that term, but
- 29:13[SPEAKER_01]: They could talk all they want about not looking past or looking to put the Patriots three games away.
- 29:20[SPEAKER_01]: This is the same scenario that we had last year.
- 29:23[SPEAKER_01]: The bills were four and oh, the Patriots were two and two.
- 29:25[SPEAKER_01]: They had that shitty loss to the Raiders.
- 29:28[SPEAKER_01]: And they came into Buffalo and beat the bills when the bills were heavy favorites.
- 29:32[SPEAKER_01]: So, I don't know, I went down a rabbit hole there, but I think you gotta affect Drake mate.
- 29:38[SPEAKER_01]: You can't give him time back there to build confidence.
- 29:43[SPEAKER_00]: Well, you say, Dinkin and Duncan, I think the thing you probably want to do if you're an offensive coordinator is say, I've got to get this guy's confidence back because the confidence does, I don't care who you are.
- 29:57[SPEAKER_00]: Like, he's hearing it.
- 29:59[SPEAKER_00]: He has to answer questions every single day.
- 30:03[SPEAKER_00]: He's talking the reporters on this stuff.
- 30:05[SPEAKER_00]: He is hearing it.
- 30:05[SPEAKER_00]: He's feeling
- 30:11[SPEAKER_00]: a guarantee it's in the back of his head being like, hey, do I fit this thing in the window?
- 30:15[SPEAKER_00]: What if it gets picked?
- 30:16[SPEAKER_00]: Because bam, it is coming down and the bill's fans are not going to let him off.
- 30:20[SPEAKER_00]: He's going to be hearing it all game on, which is awesome.
- 30:23[SPEAKER_00]: I think if you're an office coordinator, you go, okay, how do I get you the eight the 15 yard throws the easy like let me roll you out to the right roll you out to the left and get the linebackers in the coverage and I've got you know I've got young defenders on my receivers right now and I think that's how you build that confidence that you pick a few of those passes and he starts to feel it.
- 30:48[SPEAKER_00]: That's going to go out the windows be like all right.
- 30:50[SPEAKER_00]: I got this now and let me just not make the stupid play You know like you did again Seattle the costume a game, which I want to talk about today by the way Because I think the patriots are better.
- 30:59[SPEAKER_00]: I think we are massively overlooking this team this week and I think it's going to be a dog fight But that's how you build that up and
- 31:07[SPEAKER_00]: Like, I still think he's got a shoulder issue.
- 31:10[SPEAKER_00]: I, you know, first game of the year, he's under throwing balls that he normally doesn't under throw into me.
- 31:17[SPEAKER_00]: That is a mechanical issue.
- 31:18[SPEAKER_00]: I don't care what they say either that or you just suck as a quarterback and you weren't that bad last year.
- 31:24[SPEAKER_00]: You were throwing deep and you were overthrown some guys.
- 31:27[SPEAKER_00]: So,
- 31:28[SPEAKER_00]: I think there's something mechanically there as well, but if you're hitting those eight to 12, 80, 15 yards, and you've got to serpone people up, you've got your deep shots available for you, and he might be able to hit on one or two of those unless he's got a mechanical issue.
- 31:41[SPEAKER_00]: We're going to find out.
- 31:42[SPEAKER_00]: So I think it's easy.
- 31:45[SPEAKER_00]: He's lost his confidence, but I think if we look at this game, if I'm Drake May, I'm thick into myself.
- 31:53[SPEAKER_00]: I can get that back pretty quickly, because
- 31:55[SPEAKER_00]: You know, and in Josh McDonald's, his job is to figure that out.
- 32:00[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, and there's been a lot of stuff talking about Josh McDonald's running an offense from 20 years ago, if that's going to help, you know, he's trying to do the things that there's a ton of film on like,
- 32:10[SPEAKER_01]: The Seahawks did the Seahawks expose Josh McDaniels for running old stuff that he ran with Tom Brady back in 2006.
- 32:18[SPEAKER_01]: Like, you know, I'm saying like there's a stuff, there's a lot of stuff coming out saying that the inventiveness or the creativity of Josh McDaniels, there's just nothing left in the tank.
- 32:29[SPEAKER_01]: And that's not a Drake May issue, I don't think.
- 32:31[SPEAKER_01]: I think that's just,
- 32:34[SPEAKER_01]: When you're an offensive coordinator, you have to constantly adapt.
- 32:36[SPEAKER_01]: And then people talk about Joe Brady and Ben Johnson.
- 32:40[SPEAKER_01]: And some of these other younger offensive guys who are trying to innovate and they're trying to add part of the college game into what they're doing.
- 32:48[SPEAKER_01]: And they're trying to
- 32:50[SPEAKER_01]: You know, talked to other people like P car Michaels on staff, which will Brady, so I'm he's maybe he uses some his influence and just try to reinvent the wheel.
- 32:59[SPEAKER_01]: I don't think Josh McDaniels is doing that.
- 33:01[SPEAKER_01]: There's no creativity there.
- 33:03[SPEAKER_01]: And I'm not saying that's why Drake may play in the way he is, but I also think that that's an issue that nobody's talking about is that you're running the system that everybody has seen.
- 33:12[SPEAKER_01]: Like you're not going to confuse people by running stuff that
- 33:19[SPEAKER_01]: To your point about Drake Mayan, the DBs, I feel like this could go one of two ways, right?
- 33:27[SPEAKER_01]: The bills could use the Chargers game in the secondary, mainly.
- 33:31[SPEAKER_01]: as a like a launching point about, okay, this is where we put our foot in the ground and said our communication is dialed in, like we maybe IGB is a spark back there, maybe who knows, you know, he's a rookie.
- 33:47[SPEAKER_01]: So who knows, maybe Harrison steps up the pick by CJ Gardner Johnson.
- 33:52[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe that was like, okay, look, we can do this.
- 33:54[SPEAKER_01]: We can do this building conference.
- 33:56[SPEAKER_01]: We talked about Drake main confidence.
- 33:57[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe that secondary just needed a little bit of confidence.
- 34:01[SPEAKER_01]: Say what you want about the chargers like we we dog them all all week talking about how they're not a good team and this is a different team.
- 34:08[SPEAKER_01]: This is the Patriots and then obviously the Rams are going to be a test next week, but
- 34:12[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know, I think the bills need to use what they did last week and just build off of it, right?
- 34:20[SPEAKER_01]: Can we, and that's where we're going to see if Drake may has a game against the bill's secondary.
- 34:27[SPEAKER_01]: We're going to have a ton of questions after this game.
- 34:30[SPEAKER_01]: He should not.
- 34:30[SPEAKER_01]: He absolutely should not have without AJ Brown.
- 34:35[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, Romeo dobs isn't scare me, Mac Hollens doesn't scare me.
- 34:39[SPEAKER_01]: Hunter Henry, sure he'll probably get a few receptions, because he's probably going to be covered by DL for, so we'll see how that turns out.
- 34:47[SPEAKER_01]: And that's another thing, too, in the second area.
- 34:48[SPEAKER_01]: DL for going to show some signs that he's the guy that they want after to replace Terran Johnson, because he's probably going to be covered on the tight ends.
- 34:57[SPEAKER_01]: So it's going to be interesting to see if they could build
- 35:01[SPEAKER_01]: And if they can't, then we have to go back to like the questions we were having after the first two games, you know, and then everybody's going to say, well, Christian Benford didn't play.
- 35:09[SPEAKER_01]: So blah, blah, blah.
- 35:10[SPEAKER_01]: So there's going to be a ton of stuff that I still think that we might have to, you know, discuss afterwards.
- 35:15[SPEAKER_01]: If they play good, then obviously, but then if they even if they play good, they're going to say, well, it's, I almost called it Mac Jones.
- 35:22[SPEAKER_01]: It's Drake May and they don't have any receivers, so they should have played good.
- 35:27[SPEAKER_01]: because from what I'm seeing everything online, everybody's saying that the bills to just drop the Patriots this week, especially if Christian Gonzalez doesn't play, or Christian Barmore.
- 35:36[SPEAKER_01]: If they don't play, the bills should just drop them, there should be no excuses.
- 35:40[SPEAKER_01]: So, I don't know.
- 35:41[SPEAKER_01]: Any more keys to the game, like defensively for the Patriots against the bills offensive line.
- 35:47[SPEAKER_01]: What do you think about that matchup?
- 35:51[SPEAKER_00]: I've got,
- 35:54[SPEAKER_00]: I think the bill's offensive line, who I think is, I've said it before.
- 36:00[SPEAKER_00]: Good, not stupidness.
- 36:03[SPEAKER_00]: They're gonna have another test.
- 36:04[SPEAKER_00]: I think they'll be fine.
- 36:05[SPEAKER_00]: I expect Josh to get a couple hits.
- 36:09[SPEAKER_00]: I expect him to get a sack to couple times.
- 36:13[SPEAKER_00]: I expect him to hold up when they need to hold up a time.
- 36:16[SPEAKER_00]: Like typical offensive line game when you're not a trash off ends of line.
- 36:19[SPEAKER_00]: I think we're gonna get that.
- 36:24[SPEAKER_00]: is this Patriot's defense is good.
- 36:27[SPEAKER_00]: They'll be weaker if Gonzalez doesn't play.
- 36:31[SPEAKER_00]: Doesn't look like our more it's gonna play, which is good for them, but they're good.
- 36:37[SPEAKER_00]: They're gonna get to them a little bit and I just need them to kind of hold up and hold their thing and give jobs some time and we'll see how that goes.
- 36:44[SPEAKER_00]: So I will get to our hot take Dave.
- 36:49[SPEAKER_00]: I gotta take coming in, I don't think we should sleep on this defense, though.
- 36:54[SPEAKER_00]: And I've got concerns with it.
- 36:58[SPEAKER_01]: This should be a James Cook.
- 37:02[SPEAKER_01]: I feel like this should be James Cook heavily involved in whatever they want to do.
- 37:05[SPEAKER_01]: Running the ball, sure.
- 37:07[SPEAKER_01]: Catching passes out of the backfield, sure.
- 37:10[SPEAKER_01]: The Patriots run defense, I think, can be had.
- 37:13[SPEAKER_01]: They've not given up massive games as far as yardage.
- 37:17[SPEAKER_01]: I think there was only one game they've given up over 100 yards.
- 37:20[SPEAKER_01]: But I think that the bills offensive line can, especially if Christian Bar, Moore's not playing.
- 37:27[SPEAKER_01]: I think the bills offensive line has shown, especially the last week in the second half,
- 37:34[SPEAKER_01]: We're going to run the ball, you can't stop it.
- 37:37[SPEAKER_01]: We need to get James Cook involved.
- 37:39[SPEAKER_01]: You can't stop it.
- 37:40[SPEAKER_01]: And I'm not saying the Charger's defense is the Patriots defense because I agree with you.
- 37:43[SPEAKER_01]: I think the Patriots defense, if you look at that game that they gave up 35 points, they had a ton of short fields with the turnovers and stuff like that.
- 37:52[SPEAKER_01]: So I don't think that's indicative of who they are defensively.
- 37:56[SPEAKER_01]: I think the Patriots defense is better than most.
- 37:58[SPEAKER_01]: People will give them credit for.
- 38:00[SPEAKER_01]: They see the two losses and they just think that they have them playing well.
- 38:05[SPEAKER_01]: The bills need to run the ball.
- 38:06[SPEAKER_01]: They need to establish the run.
- 38:08[SPEAKER_01]: And everybody wants to have just Josh just do Josh things, right?
- 38:13[SPEAKER_01]: It's okay to have games, especially in AFC East matchup, where you do what we complained about Sean McDermott doing all the time, right?
- 38:21[SPEAKER_01]: Just control the clock, just bleed the clock, run the ball, just out muscle, your opponents, and just do whatever you can to keep the opposing team off the field, and just,
- 38:33[SPEAKER_01]: you know have close to 40 minutes time of possession and win the game and there's nothing wrong with that even if it's just 24 to 13 or whatever you know whatever you want to say but I don't think that we're going to get a game where Josh is going to air it out.
- 38:47[SPEAKER_01]: I just don't the secondary if Gonzales plays that secondary is just too good.
- 38:51[SPEAKER_01]: If Gonzales and Carlton Bailey Jr that's it's just too good of a secondary.
- 38:55[SPEAKER_01]: I don't the safety's aren't
- 38:57[SPEAKER_01]: great, but I feel like this is a game where you run the ball, you open up play action pass, and you get Dalton Kinkade, Khalil Shakir involved in the intermediate area, and that's where you can attack this defense is the line-backing core, run the ball, do that, do that type of stuff, because I do feel like the bills offensive line, and when we had Joe Morino on Tuesday, he said the bills offensive line is getting extremely physical as the season is
- 39:27[SPEAKER_01]: deans playing better.
- 39:28[SPEAKER_01]: It looks like Alk Anderson is really solidified that left guard like he was the guy and he should have been the guy.
- 39:37[SPEAKER_01]: And then the right side is is fantastic and Spencer Brown and Osiris Torrent.
- 39:42[SPEAKER_01]: So we'll see.
- 39:43[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, that's my thing is just let James Cook keep doing what he's doing, right?
- 39:48[SPEAKER_01]: Like the guy could be the rushing leader again this year.
- 39:50[SPEAKER_01]: If he does what he's done
- 39:53[SPEAKER_01]: That's, that's what he's on, he's on pace for him.
- 39:56[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, he's, he's third right now, but he's averaging six yards of carry.
- 40:00[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, Cincinnati.
- 40:01[SPEAKER_01]: So what's your, what's your take on the wrong game?
- 40:04[SPEAKER_00]: So I hope we see it.
- 40:05[SPEAKER_00]: I hope that if Gonzalez plays, I kind of hope they run toward his side a bit because he's got the shoulder, right?
- 40:14[SPEAKER_00]: What he's elisted on.
- 40:15[SPEAKER_00]: He hasn't practiced all week.
- 40:16[SPEAKER_00]: I still think he could play, because he knows what he's doing.
- 40:25[SPEAKER_00]: You can re aggravate shoulders based on what it is.
- 40:29[SPEAKER_00]: But like if he's forced to tackle cook, or can Kade catches a crosser and he's coming at him and Kade's gonna drop is like he's gonna make him go in there.
- 40:41[SPEAKER_00]: I've got to believe that Gonzales's shoulder's gonna take a little bit of a beating they get to him.
- 40:45[SPEAKER_01]: So he may want to believe in the game if that's the case.
- 40:48[SPEAKER_00]: The more you can run, the better off you'll be.
- 40:50[SPEAKER_00]: I think again, it's this team.
- 40:51[SPEAKER_00]: So I'll take another James Cook game.
- 40:54[SPEAKER_00]: love the against a team like this where you are favored and you got a team kind of on the ropes and a quarterback who's in this may right now.
- 41:03[SPEAKER_00]: I think shortening the game and removing lessening your margin of errors not the right call because that just gives the other team that much ease to get back into it if they're losing or kind of control that game and keep a close and you never know right you give flookie balances in the NFL fumble and it just goes
- 41:24[SPEAKER_00]: throw hits the guy's helmet and bounces up and it's picked off.
- 41:27[SPEAKER_00]: So I want to extend the margin bearers best I can.
- 41:30[SPEAKER_00]: I found the funny Dave, no one really talked about it, but earlier this week Joe Brady on prompt it says, yeah, we got to get Ray Davis more involved in the game.
- 41:41[SPEAKER_00]: Brady strikes me as a gamesmanship type of guy.
- 41:45[SPEAKER_00]: And I almost wonder if he said that on purpose,
- 41:51[SPEAKER_00]: And he's going to have packages out there with Ray Davis is out there running a d-coi.
- 41:56[SPEAKER_00]: Again, either a swing pass out to someone or a different pass where you've got to running back that maybe no one really accounts for and you move like you swing him out and it's a quick pump fake and then you get a deep.
- 42:09[SPEAKER_00]: I almost want it.
- 42:11[SPEAKER_00]: I really think Joe Brady is a gamesmanship type of guy, but God tells me that he said that because he wants to use him as a d-coi a couple times this game.
- 42:20[SPEAKER_01]: It's funny because everybody's complaining when it's very Davis, like he's falling out of favor with Joe Brady, like, I mean, the guy in Joe Brady's offense, he's gotten touches in the previous years.
- 42:31[SPEAKER_01]: Now, there was a time he, there was a game he had to play as RB1 because Cook was out, but that's one game.
- 42:38[SPEAKER_01]: And then, obviously, we know he does the kickoff.
- 42:40[SPEAKER_01]: He's an opera, a kick return.
- 42:42[SPEAKER_01]: So I don't know if Joe Brady, and again, this is all stuff that we're learning on the fly, like you said.
- 42:50[SPEAKER_01]: We don't know what to take Joe Brady out when he says things like is he is it coach speak is he playing a game.
- 42:58[SPEAKER_01]: Is he trying to be extremely cerebral with us?
- 43:01[SPEAKER_01]: Is he just throwing shit out to throw shit out?
- 43:04[SPEAKER_01]: Does he, is he honestly like hearing from Pete Carmichael, like we need to get Ray Davis involved?
- 43:11[SPEAKER_01]: Because he's had like what one touch all year.
- 43:14[SPEAKER_01]: And it's funny, he says that after Ty Johnson comes back, hadn't played all season, missed the first two games comes back and he's involved in the offense.
- 43:23[SPEAKER_01]: And we all know that Josh Hale
- 43:27[SPEAKER_01]: loves Ty Johnson.
- 43:28[SPEAKER_01]: So I don't know if he's heard the noise of where's Ray Davis, if he is like you said, if he's saying that we're going to use Ray Davis and ha ha, Mike Rabel, you talk shit about me, you know, this offseason at the draft.
- 43:44[SPEAKER_01]: Do you remember that right when Mike Rabel took his name badge and he has name tag and you want to talk about through it, you want to talk about
- 43:54[SPEAKER_00]: this fire, I think this is the biggest non-storey.
- 43:57[SPEAKER_00]: This is a bigger non-storey than the water to me.
- 44:01[SPEAKER_00]: I can't even believe, like this thing's still making the round.
- 44:04[SPEAKER_00]: I saw a picture on social media yesterday about the biggest non-storey in the world.
- 44:08[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, when you took his name and he crumpled it up and he threw it up.
- 44:10[SPEAKER_01]: I thought, yeah, I just thought it was funny.
- 44:13[SPEAKER_01]: I do think though, I don't know man, like we have to figure out what Joe Brady is at press conferences.
- 44:19[SPEAKER_01]: Like it's he just giving us
- 44:23[SPEAKER_01]: information that's actually factual or she's just giving us information so that we stop talking about the things that we're asking about.
- 44:29[SPEAKER_01]: You know what I mean?
- 44:29[SPEAKER_01]: We don't know.
- 44:31[SPEAKER_01]: Like we had nine years of McDermott and we knew exactly what McDermott was going to give us.
- 44:37[SPEAKER_01]: Right.
- 44:37[SPEAKER_01]: We always knew he was going to go to a certain point, and that was going to be it, or he just wasn't going to go there at all.
- 44:45[SPEAKER_01]: And we knew that.
- 44:45[SPEAKER_01]: Like there was never any extra tidbit, extra nuggets.
- 44:49[SPEAKER_01]: It was all coach speak.
- 44:50[SPEAKER_01]: It was just whatever.
- 44:53[SPEAKER_01]: And after a point, you got like, okay, he's not, he's just not going to give us anything.
- 44:56[SPEAKER_01]: It's not going to tell us about the XYZ, but it'll be interesting to see if Ray Davis, like you said, if he's out there for 15 snaps if you need doesn't do anything except block.
- 45:06[SPEAKER_01]: like or run around as a decoy or make it think that they're going to hand the ball off to them or throw a screen pass to them or I don't know that would be interesting to see I didn't even really think about that one.
- 45:19[SPEAKER_01]: He was talking about that but I guess we'll have to see but I don't know what's uh so I guess we can move on from Kesa the game we could go to players to watch what
- 45:32[SPEAKER_01]: What players on the Patriots, I guess, will start there?
- 45:36[SPEAKER_01]: What players on the Patriots should we be concerned with?
- 45:40[SPEAKER_01]: Obviously, Gonzales, if he plays.
- 45:43[SPEAKER_01]: Again, he hasn't practiced all week.
- 45:45[SPEAKER_01]: So, Keyon didn't practice all week and was limited on Friday and then he played.
- 45:51[SPEAKER_01]: So, if Gonzales is limited, maybe, and the Patriots do weird stuff,
- 45:59[SPEAKER_01]: with their, they do weird stuff with their injury reports.
- 46:01[SPEAKER_01]: They always list everybody's questionable, like on Friday.
- 46:05[SPEAKER_01]: So we really won't get any kind of answer.
- 46:07[SPEAKER_01]: And then questionable could be an out questionable, could be whatever.
- 46:12[SPEAKER_01]: So he'll probably show up as questionable today.
- 46:14[SPEAKER_01]: I would almost gas for the game on Sunday.
- 46:17[SPEAKER_01]: So, but anyways, back to the players to watch on the Patriots.
- 46:20[SPEAKER_01]: What's your take here besides the typical Mac Hollens will get a first-down reception and then he'll put his backpack on and he'll do his first-down thing and that's guaranteed to happen.
- 46:33[SPEAKER_00]: I'm watching, the ones we kind of talked about with Ethan yesterday.
- 46:39[SPEAKER_00]: Hunter Henry.
- 46:40[SPEAKER_00]: I don't think Hunter Henry's this seemed like the game where he's going to get fed.
- 46:44[SPEAKER_00]: I'm not sure that's actually going to happen, but I want to see the Alfred matched up against him.
- 46:51[SPEAKER_00]: He is absolutely going to be an outlet for Drake may so.
- 46:58[SPEAKER_00]: How much he's actually targeting him because that looks like that's kind of falling off a cliff right now.
- 47:02[SPEAKER_00]: with what's going on there.
- 47:04[SPEAKER_00]: So I'm much 100 Henry, but I don't think he's going to be a difference maker.
- 47:08[SPEAKER_00]: Gonzalez, I think, is a big one because he's obviously going to take DJ Moore.
- 47:13[SPEAKER_00]: And if Gonzalez is out, you now shift over.
- 47:16[SPEAKER_00]: That becomes key on watch to me.
- 47:18[SPEAKER_00]: Because theoretically, you've got that match up advantage.
- 47:26[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know, I think Matt Collins is the other guy.
- 47:27[SPEAKER_00]: He seems to knowingly get the big plays against the bills.
- 47:34[SPEAKER_00]: Whether it's the first down or like a third, and I don't know, I'm gonna make something up.
- 47:37[SPEAKER_00]: It's a third and 18, and there's Matt Collins with a 19-yard grab, the three guys on him, right, and he pulls it down.
- 47:44[SPEAKER_00]: So, if you take away Hunter Hadnery, you take away Matt Collins.
- 47:49[SPEAKER_00]: You're taking away, I believe, Drake May.
- 47:53[SPEAKER_00]: which means you are destined to a run game and a really good defense.
- 47:57[SPEAKER_00]: And that's what you got here, and I'm like, I don't think I need to look beyond that to be honest with it.
- 48:03[SPEAKER_00]: They're either gonna have a good offense and challenge or they're gonna lose.
- 48:07[SPEAKER_00]: And that it's as simple as that and I don't I don't need to look beyond hunter Henry and and Gonzalez to be honest with you and islands.
- 48:14[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I think trivia and Henderson, do you need to stop the run?
- 48:18[SPEAKER_01]: That's my biggest.
- 48:19[SPEAKER_01]: That should have been a key to the game and that's also my player to watch.
- 48:21[SPEAKER_01]: If the bills can shut down the run and force Drake made a beat you.
- 48:25[SPEAKER_01]: If he's good enough to beat you, then he's good enough to beat you.
- 48:28[SPEAKER_01]: If he's not, then this should be a decisive one for the bills.
- 48:32[SPEAKER_01]: Because with what we've seen for through three weeks,
- 48:36[SPEAKER_01]: He doesn't look like he has the confidence if the bills build a lead.
- 48:40[SPEAKER_01]: And they have to abandon the run game.
- 48:42[SPEAKER_01]: I can't see Drake made just throwing the ball 40 times and beating the bills.
- 48:46[SPEAKER_01]: I just can't.
- 48:47[SPEAKER_01]: The Drake made that we saw last year, I don't know where that guy is, but the Patriots should absolutely dial up as many run plays as creatively as they can to try to beat this bill's defense with the run.
- 49:01[SPEAKER_01]: Because you, A, you keep Josh Allen off the field.
- 49:05[SPEAKER_01]: Right, so you control some clock and keep Josh Allen off the field, which is what you said you thought the build shouldn't do they should just try to just go for the jugular and just put the game away.
- 49:14[SPEAKER_01]: I think if you're the Patriots, you do as much as you can have ball control and that isn't a whole bunch of passing so and they don't have I don't think they have the right passing scheme right now and I'm sure that when AJ Brown comes back, he'll unlock some other stuff, but.
- 49:29[SPEAKER_01]: They gotta run the ball.
- 49:31[SPEAKER_01]: To me, that's how you attack this bill's defense.
- 49:33[SPEAKER_01]: You see if what the bill's defense has done against the run the first three games is actually changed or if it's the same old same old with the bills.
- 49:43[SPEAKER_01]: Cause I'll tell you what, man, Duane Carter.
- 49:45[SPEAKER_01]: also against the run has been playing really well.
- 49:49[SPEAKER_01]: Somebody who everybody thought was a roster bubble guy coming off the injury, asking him to gain weight, playing a little bit out of position.
- 49:58[SPEAKER_01]: We saw him playing on the last series of the last preseason game.
- 50:01[SPEAKER_01]: We thought he was in jeopardy of not making the roster.
- 50:04[SPEAKER_01]: So
- 50:06[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know, I think you got the Patriots have to attack the bills in the run.
- 50:10[SPEAKER_00]: So, but that run game, that might come from from may himself.
- 50:14[SPEAKER_00]: All right, if they can't get that going, and they might just start, like, hey, let's push our receivers down.
- 50:20[SPEAKER_00]: We can get an aggressive Rousseau coming off the edge, especially with that offensive line.
- 50:25[SPEAKER_00]: Can you sneak in there and just have, because that guy can move.
- 50:28[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I'm great.
- 50:29[SPEAKER_01]: That's all, again, it's all on his confidence if he's confident enough to
- 50:33[SPEAKER_01]: not hang out in the pocket and he can bail out and we saw him use his legs against the bills last year and it was effective.
- 50:39[SPEAKER_01]: Both games, it was effective.
- 50:41[SPEAKER_01]: So what about players to watch on the bills?
- 50:44[SPEAKER_01]: Obviously we talked about James Cook.
- 50:46[SPEAKER_01]: There's always Josh Allen, obviously is there anybody else that you're thinking of that this might be a big game or a big opportunity, whether offensive, defensive, what you thought there.
- 50:56[SPEAKER_00]: my players are positional groups this game.
- 50:59[SPEAKER_00]: So I've got Josh on the list only because I want to see how he's moving.
- 51:02[SPEAKER_00]: I want to see if he's like those bruises.
- 51:06[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, that'll probably hurt if it's just a bone bruise that's going to hurt for a couple weeks but she doesn't limit him.
- 51:11[SPEAKER_00]: I kind of want to see how he's moving though because he's not showing up in the injury poor but he had again bad limp, good shot to the leg last week.
- 51:18[SPEAKER_00]: So I just want to see if he's moving because that's going to impact probably how the past D line play, right?
- 51:24[SPEAKER_00]: If you're not really
- 51:26[SPEAKER_00]: you take those, you know, the design runs off the table.
- 51:29[SPEAKER_00]: You can clamp down a little bit more.
- 51:31[SPEAKER_00]: So my two positional groups are both on the defense Dave.
- 51:35[SPEAKER_00]: Secondary, we've talked about it.
- 51:37[SPEAKER_00]: How are they going to hold up?
- 51:39[SPEAKER_00]: It's going to be fun to watch, hopefully, but it should be fun to watch.
- 51:42[SPEAKER_00]: It'll be entertaining if nothing else.
- 51:44[SPEAKER_00]: Defends a pass rush.
- 51:46[SPEAKER_00]: We've talked about this every week.
- 51:48[SPEAKER_00]: Third week in a row, we're talking about going against a battered
- 51:52[SPEAKER_00]: back up offensive line and for the third week in a row, I keep I keep I'm here saying, I need time to pressure because the first two weeks, especially last week, we're like, oh, it's going to be they're going to dominate and they did not and they were good time to pressure we're still bad.
- 52:08[SPEAKER_00]: Joe Marino said it earlier this week.
- 52:10[SPEAKER_00]: He's like, I think they're going to have to dial up pressure to get, they're not going to win with free and for this year on the majority
- 52:22[SPEAKER_00]: Are they getting better or is this just the past rush we're getting a good past rush, but we need the blitz people in order to get home and I haven't seen it the last two weeks I've got backups on the offensive line this week.
- 52:36[SPEAKER_00]: the two positions that are going to be blocking Rousseau are both backups.
- 52:41[SPEAKER_00]: I think one might be a third stringer.
- 52:43[SPEAKER_00]: So if we're not dominating in this week, I think we should just write that off this year that we are going to dominate defensive lines.
- 52:51[SPEAKER_00]: Or I'm sorry, offensive lines with our D line.
- 52:54[SPEAKER_00]: And we're just going to know we get a blessed people to get home or some sort of run more stunts or something.
- 53:00[SPEAKER_00]: So those are my positional groups, but defensive pass rush is the one I am looking at
- 53:07[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, and I think to the bills, maybe it's Jim Leonard and it's just the horses that they have, I think they went into the season reliant heavily on.
- 53:18[SPEAKER_01]: Greg Russo, Bradley Chob, Dion Walker, and Ed Oliver to an extent.
- 53:23[SPEAKER_01]: And plus, I don't think Michael Hoyt's right.
- 53:26[SPEAKER_01]: I still don't think he's 100%.
- 53:27[SPEAKER_01]: I still think coming back from that injury.
- 53:29[SPEAKER_01]: There's still, he still needs to get back up to games beat.
- 53:32[SPEAKER_01]: When he does, he's going to be fantastic thumbs up.
- 53:37[SPEAKER_01]: So after those guys, if they're not in the game, then who do you have for a pass rush?
- 53:42[SPEAKER_01]: Right, Javan Solomon like what like TJ Parker has showed me nothing like what so I think to your point on straight passing downs like third down if it's third and and long distance I feel like that's when you're seeing the past rush and my thing and my my comeback to you on that is when they've needed to make a stop they have.
- 54:06[SPEAKER_01]: right.
- 54:07[SPEAKER_01]: There's been games when they need to stop and they got it.
- 54:10[SPEAKER_01]: The Texans game agreed a couple get a couple of times against the lions when the game was starting to get within 10 points or whatever the defense made stops to start the game.
- 54:20[SPEAKER_01]: They made stops so the bills could increase their lead last week.
- 54:25[SPEAKER_01]: They definitely made some stops.
- 54:28[SPEAKER_01]: So again, you can't rely on that.
- 54:30[SPEAKER_01]: You can't rely
- 54:33[SPEAKER_01]: are up by four points and the opposing team has the ball with a minute and forty left go win the game, right?
- 54:39[SPEAKER_01]: That's what we talked about with McDermott and the postseason.
- 54:42[SPEAKER_01]: It's so long, right?
- 54:43[SPEAKER_00]: So you can't make your, you make your stops earlier.
- 54:46[SPEAKER_01]: You don't write.
- 54:47[SPEAKER_01]: You can't make your stop.
- 54:48[SPEAKER_01]: You can't live that way because the stops aren't always going to come.
- 54:50[SPEAKER_01]: It's just, it's an NFL game.
- 54:52[SPEAKER_01]: And the other, like everybody says the opposing locker or the opposing sideline gets paid to, they get paid to play and compete too.
- 54:59[SPEAKER_01]: So,
- 55:02[SPEAKER_00]: Is that your free water, is that your free, where did my water go?
- 55:05[SPEAKER_01]: That's your free glass of water.
- 55:07[SPEAKER_01]: So, all right, let's get to, should we do hot takes now?
- 55:11[SPEAKER_01]: Let's do hot takes now for the game.
- 55:13[SPEAKER_01]: What's your, you said you had one.
- 55:15[SPEAKER_00]: So, you kind of see, I've got a backup if we really want to get into something here.
- 55:20[SPEAKER_01]: My hot take is the bills will win, but they need to come back and win late.
- 55:27[SPEAKER_00]: I do not think this is going to be a blow out and I'm looking at,
- 55:32[SPEAKER_00]: It's hard to tell, I mean, we can joke all we want about Drake May and the lack of receivers and the offensive line, you know, the fact is the chargers had, we did the same thing with the chargers and they had it just as bad offensive line from an injury standpoint.
- 55:48[SPEAKER_00]: And we're losing that game.
- 55:50[SPEAKER_00]: And I know five turnovers, two of those were puns.
- 55:53[SPEAKER_00]: I still, like, I don't like punting ever.
- 55:55[SPEAKER_00]: So,
- 55:57[SPEAKER_00]: like stuff happens, but that's football.
- 55:59[SPEAKER_00]: There's no guarantee just because you had five last week give zero.
- 56:02[SPEAKER_00]: This week stuff happens, right?
- 56:03[SPEAKER_00]: You can you can fumble a ball.
- 56:05[SPEAKER_00]: You can get hit.
- 56:06[SPEAKER_00]: You're one guy can miss a block.
- 56:08[SPEAKER_00]: I'm one play the whole game and I only gets hit and he fumbles.
- 56:12[SPEAKER_00]: Like I can't guarantee that stuff.
- 56:14[SPEAKER_00]: So I'm looking at the Patriots that I'm going.
- 56:18[SPEAKER_00]: Okay, Donald got hurt early a week one.
- 56:21[SPEAKER_00]: But as a Super Bowl champion, he's a great defense.
- 56:26[SPEAKER_00]: The Patriots, I mean, they're winning most of that game, and then they are driving to what the 18-year line at the end of the game when Made Throw is that ridiculous pass he can't still can't believe you through that thing.
- 56:39[SPEAKER_00]: They couldn't beat Seattle that game, and probably should have, if nothing else got on the overtime, right?
- 56:44[SPEAKER_00]: But second game, they smoked the Patriots.
- 56:49[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know, Erton, I'm sorry, they smoked the Steelers Pittsburgh.
- 56:53[SPEAKER_00]: which are supposed to do if you're a good team and you'd be bad teams, it looks like Pittsburgh is just a bad team, but they had over 300 yards of offense at game.
- 57:01[SPEAKER_00]: They had almost 300 yards of offense against Seattle, and then, you know, they get smoked by Jacksonville, still had, they were moving the ball well, they still had over 300 yards of offense at that game, and like, they got smoked by Jacksonville is smoking everyone right now, so, you know,
- 57:21[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know, I look at Jackson about them.
- 57:23[SPEAKER_00]: I'm like, well, how good are they?
- 57:24[SPEAKER_00]: Well, they crushed Cleveland, which I still think Cleveland's bad, but they crushed them.
- 57:29[SPEAKER_00]: What good teams are supposed to do?
- 57:31[SPEAKER_00]: They lost a close one, the Denver, which we still think is a good team.
- 57:34[SPEAKER_00]: And they crushed the paths.
- 57:36[SPEAKER_00]: So I think the Patriots are probably better than most people want to admit or want to think, because they hate them, myself included.
- 57:43[SPEAKER_00]: But I think this thing's going to be more of a dogfight than we think.
- 57:48[SPEAKER_00]: And that's my take.
- 57:52[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 57:53[SPEAKER_01]: I can see some of that.
- 57:54[SPEAKER_01]: Like, and that's what the narrative in the national media has been about the Patriots is like, their offense is moving the ball.
- 58:01[SPEAKER_01]: It's just when they'll have consistent drives and all of a sudden, like there's just a bonehead mistake from Drake may or a bad throw or a fumble, but and that's probably sounds kind of weird.
- 58:15[SPEAKER_01]: But there's games when they're
- 58:19[SPEAKER_01]: The offense is churning out yardages and getting first downs, and then all of a sudden, he just, but his mistakes are just catastrophic mistakes, like instead of missing an open receiver and under throw in a ball, like he's throwing into triple coverage and getting picked off, or he's completely overthrown a receiver, or he's just dropping the football, like nobody's around him.
- 58:41[SPEAKER_01]: So you know what I mean?
- 58:42[SPEAKER_01]: But the offense is moving, like they were turning out first downs and getting gaining yardage to me.
- 58:49[SPEAKER_01]: My hot taking it, I don't even know if it's really a hot take.
- 58:52[SPEAKER_01]: I think that Mac Joe or Mac, I keep calling it Mac Jones.
- 58:55[SPEAKER_00]: Dammit, Drake may is going to throw a pick six.
- 58:59[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know who that's going to be.
- 59:00[SPEAKER_01]: If it's if it's IGB,
- 59:04[SPEAKER_01]: Oh boy, there's going to be so much talk this week and bills and the bills mafia about Benford and IGB and all that stuff and that's not coming from me.
- 59:13[SPEAKER_01]: I'm just saying it'll be out there.
- 59:16[SPEAKER_01]: But I think he's going to throw a pick six and I also it's probably not a hot take, but I think James Cook's going to have two rushing touchdowns.
- 59:24[SPEAKER_01]: I just feel like that's going to be kind of part for the course this week.
- 59:30[SPEAKER_01]: We have to start talking about, and this is totally a different topic for a different day.
- 59:34[SPEAKER_01]: We need to start talking about James Cook in a whole different type of realm, I think.
- 59:42[SPEAKER_01]: I think he's entering into top three running back status in the NFL, and he has been for a couple years now.
- 59:50[SPEAKER_01]: Obviously, we could talk about that in another time, but if you watch how he runs,
- 59:56[SPEAKER_01]: you're not supposed to move that way.
- 59:58[SPEAKER_01]: Your body's not supposed to do things like that.
- 1:00:01[SPEAKER_01]: There was a couple replays of when he went out right, and there was a defender coming towards him and the way his leg.
- 1:00:08[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, dude, like your body is, yeah, his ankle was completely contorted and he just in stride was, so anyways, but yeah, so to me,
- 1:00:17[SPEAKER_01]: And we could go right into player the game.
- 1:00:20[SPEAKER_01]: To me, it's easy, James Cook.
- 1:00:23[SPEAKER_01]: I feel like it's gonna be the build's player the game.
- 1:00:24[SPEAKER_01]: I've been saying it all week.
- 1:00:25[SPEAKER_01]: Everybody we've had on is talked about running the ball, running the ball, running the ball.
- 1:00:29[SPEAKER_01]: Just grind down the Patriots defense, keep him out on the field for 10, 12, 13 play drives, get him tired, keep the offense off the field because then you keep the offense out of rhythm.
- 1:00:40[SPEAKER_01]: All that stuff.
- 1:00:42[SPEAKER_01]: To me it's it's a James Cook that to me he's player the game.
- 1:00:45[SPEAKER_01]: I think he goes over a hundred easily I guess that he's averaging six yards a carry doesn't look like he's going to slow down at all I saw a comment in the in the live chat about how if James Cook fumbled during the McDermott regime.
- 1:01:01[SPEAKER_01]: He would have been benched nope Joe Brady put him right back out there in the next drive.
- 1:01:05[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 1:01:06[SPEAKER_01]: You know, dust it off, dust yourself off, go out there, because he knows, mistakes happen.
- 1:01:11[SPEAKER_01]: Like you've said, now a couple times, like random stuff happened again in that Bill's Charger's Games.
- 1:01:17[SPEAKER_01]: No one I saw, not one person predict that the bills are going to have five turnovers in that game.
- 1:01:21[SPEAKER_01]: Not one person said it, not one person had a prophecy that that game was going to be an eight point game.
- 1:01:27[SPEAKER_01]: Everybody thought the bills are going to blow out the Chargers.
- 1:01:30[SPEAKER_01]: And random shit happens.
- 1:01:32[SPEAKER_01]: And that's the thing that concerns me about the Patriots game is divisional games are always dog fights.
- 1:01:38[SPEAKER_01]: I don't care if the bills are favored by 30.
- 1:01:40[SPEAKER_01]: These games are always weird.
- 1:01:43[SPEAKER_01]: There's an injury, there's a freak play, there's a kickoff return for a touchdown, there's a fumble return, like there's just weird stuff happens and it keeps these games competitive.
- 1:01:55[SPEAKER_01]: And it's aFC, and that's divisional games are fights.
- 1:01:58[SPEAKER_01]: So probably the game for me is James Cook,
- 1:02:01[SPEAKER_00]: It's good, yes, good play, if the game unfolds like I think it will, it's got to be Josh Allen because he's going to be bringing him.
- 1:02:12[SPEAKER_00]: bringing it back and my gut would tell me he's got some Russian yards in there scrambling for first downs, making tough throws, taking a little bit of a beating.
- 1:02:21[SPEAKER_00]: So it's the ultimate cop out, but if it turns out where they need to come back and when it's getting the game it's going to be on Josh's back and that's got to be him.
- 1:02:31[SPEAKER_00]: Now if this is a blowout, it's probably James Cook
- 1:02:42[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I don't know how healthy DJ more he's going to play I don't think there's a doubt he's can play I just don't know
- 1:02:52[SPEAKER_01]: everything looked uncomfortable for him last week, you know, everything he was doing just he made plays.
- 1:02:58[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, he had 10 targets and six receptions, but it just looked uncomfortable and I felt like there was times Josh was kind of forcing stuff to him.
- 1:03:06[SPEAKER_01]: That's what you want your number one receiver to be.
- 1:03:08[SPEAKER_01]: That's what Diggs was, right?
- 1:03:10[SPEAKER_01]: We say all we wanted about how Diggs ended his whatever his tenure with the bills, but there was times when Josh was forcing passes to Diggs and it just,
- 1:03:19[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, it worked a lot, a hell of a lot it worked, but there was also times when you could tell it's like Josh is not open dude.
- 1:03:24[SPEAKER_01]: Like don't like yes, it's digs, but he's just not open your forcing passes.
- 1:03:29[SPEAKER_01]: You're going to make a mistake something's going to get picked off.
- 1:03:32[SPEAKER_01]: And I felt like that passed over the middle that he was trying to force that into DJ more, it got picked off.
- 1:03:39[SPEAKER_01]: Like you could tell he was he was forcing it and then the interception, it's a weird, it's a weird play all around like,
- 1:03:47[SPEAKER_01]: you want your guy to beat their, their guy, like you want your best guy to beat their guy.
- 1:03:52[SPEAKER_01]: And DJ Moore had his hands on the ball.
- 1:03:54[SPEAKER_01]: Like, if you watched just the broadcast view of it, it looks like it's just a bad throw, and it's picked off.
- 1:04:00[SPEAKER_01]: But if you watched the end zone view of it, or the all 22 version of it, DJ Moore literally had the ball in his hands.
- 1:04:06[SPEAKER_01]: And the other player just kind of banged into him at right at the right time when the ball was in DJ Moore's hands.
- 1:04:12[SPEAKER_01]: And then they fell to the ground and it landed it with the defender.
- 1:04:15[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know, maybe he shouldn't have taken the shot, whatever people were complaining that, oh, Josh thought he was off-size and he had a free plane.
- 1:04:23[SPEAKER_01]: Josh said, no, that's not the case.
- 1:04:24[SPEAKER_01]: I just took a shot with my guy.
- 1:04:26[SPEAKER_01]: Joe Brady came out and said he thought it was off-sides, whatever.
- 1:04:30[SPEAKER_00]: We've been craving for him to throw deep and to loosen up that defense.
- 1:04:33[SPEAKER_00]: And that's one of the ways to do it.
- 1:04:35[SPEAKER_00]: I'm okay taking it.
- 1:04:35[SPEAKER_00]: And like it's a punch, right?
- 1:04:37[SPEAKER_00]: I'm okay taking that deep shot.
- 1:04:38[SPEAKER_00]: But we talk about like fluky football bounces.
- 1:04:44[SPEAKER_00]: 90 plus percent of the time that's in complete.
- 1:04:47[SPEAKER_00]: guy knocks it out.
- 1:04:48[SPEAKER_00]: He rolls over and stays on top of him.
- 1:04:50[SPEAKER_00]: He's able to grab it.
- 1:04:51[SPEAKER_00]: You know, stuff like that happens, but you lose something defense.
- 1:04:54[SPEAKER_00]: You know, they're going for it.
- 1:04:56[SPEAKER_00]: You know, a rogue Collins, you threw the comment up here, a bass field goal.
- 1:05:01[SPEAKER_00]: We haven't talked about this.
- 1:05:02[SPEAKER_00]: A bass is lining up for a game and if you'll go, I have no confidence.
- 1:05:05[SPEAKER_00]: I don't like the ways kicking the ball this year.
- 1:05:06[SPEAKER_00]: He's got he's got some twists and turns and these these things are going over.
- 1:05:11[SPEAKER_00]: I'm a he's missed one.
- 1:05:14[SPEAKER_00]: Kick this here, extra point.
- 1:05:16[SPEAKER_00]: He's hitting what he needs to hit.
- 1:05:18[SPEAKER_00]: I don't like the way There's maybe two kicks that I'm like, oh, that's a good kick.
- 1:05:22[SPEAKER_00]: Everything else is just wonky, and I'm like So the topic for a different day, but I have no confidence.
- 1:05:28[SPEAKER_01]: I feel like this could have been a conversation about Tyler Bass We could have had last year or not last year the year before the year before the year before like his extra points like I hold my breath
- 1:05:37[SPEAKER_01]: on the guard is this seven points for did we just get six points because every time he lines up it's like it's like hooks yeah like you're like oh shit and it goes in you're like who thank god every time i mean there's been some that had been like right down some some few goals to have been right down the middle but then there's a trick
- 1:05:54[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, there's been some that word that we're just, I'm like, I hold my breath when it's like an extra point and that's that's that's not good in we talked about and I said something in the offseason about maybe there was this massive amount of pressure on him.
- 1:06:09[SPEAKER_01]: His contract's not huge, but he did get paid.
- 1:06:11[SPEAKER_01]: They they told him by bringing him back this year after a year off that you're our guy where we've been paying you we trust you.
- 1:06:19[SPEAKER_01]: I'm wondering if it's like we talk about with Drake may with the confidence.
- 1:06:23[SPEAKER_01]: I'm wondering if.
- 1:06:24[SPEAKER_01]: Something's just happened with his and now granted he's missed one and we're not I'm not going to complain if he starts missing the gimmies, then it's like a real conversation, but.
- 1:06:35[SPEAKER_00]: But you know, I don't know, you think you think about that they tried game the one he missed like Buffalo scores later that game to go up to scores against a team that goes for two and makes two's like you make that point as a three score game.
- 1:06:48[SPEAKER_00]: That could have been big.
- 1:06:50[SPEAKER_00]: You've fast forward 10 weeks, and you get to that situation, and guy miss is one, like, uh, Therop, three scores, two scores, huge difference, right?
- 1:07:00[SPEAKER_00]: So, like, those are the things that we've seen last year, regardless, because he would play, but those are the things we've seen every single year that he's, but even the year he was good, he still missed kicks.
- 1:07:12[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 1:07:13[SPEAKER_00]: you think about target yard line in the game.
- 1:07:16[SPEAKER_00]: Let's say it's tied.
- 1:07:18[SPEAKER_00]: Let's get in field goal range.
- 1:07:19[SPEAKER_00]: Well what the hell is field goal range?
- 1:07:21[SPEAKER_00]: You line up for 58.
- 1:07:22[SPEAKER_00]: You think in that guy's kicking a 58 yarder?
- 1:07:25[SPEAKER_00]: No way.
- 1:07:26[SPEAKER_00]: He might get it.
- 1:07:27[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I think if you're the coaching staff or Josh Schellen, you think in, oh man, I got to get this thing.
- 1:07:33[SPEAKER_00]: This thing's got to be 50 yards or less, not 58.
- 1:07:35[SPEAKER_00]: That changes how you call plays and that's what concerns me about it.
- 1:07:40[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, and I think that no one would need that more than Tyler Bass, obviously, not just because you won the game, but if you can hit a deep kick that people were concerned that you weren't able to do like the kick the 61 year, if you'll go ahead against Miami, I don't think that when he lined up, everybody was like, yeah, he's got this now it's 61 yards.
- 1:07:58[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, that's hard to do.
- 1:08:00[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it's a hard thing to do, but
- 1:08:02[SPEAKER_01]: All right, score predictions.
- 1:08:04[SPEAKER_01]: You guys in the chat.
- 1:08:05[SPEAKER_01]: First off, thank you for watching.
- 1:08:06[SPEAKER_01]: There's a lot of people that have been here since the beginning of the show that are still here.

- 1:08:15[SPEAKER_01]: If you could subscribe to the YouTube channel, we had a really good month of September, probably the best month we've had in a long time.
- 1:08:22[SPEAKER_01]: So thank you for everybody that's been supporting what we've been doing.
- 1:08:24[SPEAKER_01]: Subscribe, hit the bell, get notified when not just first and five, but everything else we have.

- 1:08:49[SPEAKER_01]: And drop your comments, you know, give us your score predictions, player the games, hot takes, all that good stuff even after the video is over.
- 1:08:57[SPEAKER_01]: We love to see those, but all right, Greg, you're up first with score prediction.
- 1:09:00[SPEAKER_01]: I'm going to make you go first.
- 1:09:01[SPEAKER_00]: I think I'm going to set it earlier when I was, give my hot take, but bills 27 page reads 24.
- 1:09:08[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
- 1:09:11[SPEAKER_01]: I'm going bills 31 page reads 13.
- 1:09:17[SPEAKER_01]: at the 82 to nothing that's I told my wife the other day because if you're on social media like obviously it's that's my job if people didn't know that I'm a full-time content creator obviously other than doing this podcast and this kind of kind of a state-home dad full-time day I don't know how it works but anyways your babysitting Dave no I'm not babysitting that's a wife that is a wife term I am not babysitting I'm spending time with my kids um
- 1:09:46[SPEAKER_01]: No, I told my wife BTA the other day because she was talking about are the bills going to win Sunday because it's the Patriots.
- 1:09:53[SPEAKER_01]: And she calls them the cheatriots, which I think is hilarious.
- 1:09:56[SPEAKER_01]: And I said it's going to be BTA.
- 1:09:58[SPEAKER_01]: And she's like, what does BTA?
- 1:10:00[SPEAKER_01]: And I said it's going to be built to ass.
- 1:10:02[SPEAKER_01]: And apparently that's the thing that people say now.
- 1:10:04[SPEAKER_01]: So that's, yeah, the bills are going to, I think the bills are Molly Wawp on the Patriots.
- 1:10:09[SPEAKER_01]: I feel like this is the game.
- 1:10:11[SPEAKER_01]: Some stuff's going to...
- 1:10:14[SPEAKER_01]: Joe Brady's first game as head coach against the New England Patriots.
- 1:10:20[SPEAKER_01]: You don't think he wants to prove a point, not saying that he can because he's Joe Brady, and he can prove a point.
- 1:10:26[SPEAKER_01]: I'm just saying, I think we're gonna see some stuff this week that is gonna be unconventional and he wants to prove a point that this team is the toast of the AFC East, is a true competitor, wants to compete for the number one C in the AFC.
- 1:10:40[SPEAKER_01]: Now, I'm not saying he's gonna be reckless
- 1:10:43[SPEAKER_01]: You know, crazy bells and whistles and just get creative and it doesn't make sense and it's at the wrong time, but I feel like this is a game where he's going to prove his worth against a good defensive coach team and Mike Rabel plus you could tell I think that Joe Brady like you said I think that he is a gamesman.
- 1:11:04[SPEAKER_01]: And he wants to prove to Mike Vrable that, hey, I can coach in this league too.
- 1:11:08[SPEAKER_01]: I may be just 37 years old, but like we are legit and I'm coming, I'm coming and I'm bringing everything I have.
- 1:11:15[SPEAKER_01]: And I think that this is the week two, we see some stuff from Jim Leonard.
- 1:11:18[SPEAKER_01]: And I really like the fact that finally, maybe after the fourth week, they get after this offensive line that's depleted.
- 1:11:28[SPEAKER_01]: And just break, I want them to break Drake May.
- 1:11:31[SPEAKER_01]: the Patriots' confidence.
- 1:11:32[SPEAKER_01]: I want to bury them into the AFC East.
- 1:11:35[SPEAKER_01]: So that's my prediction.
- 1:11:37[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, two things before we get out of here, Dave.
- 1:11:39[SPEAKER_00]: I want to have a real quick conversation.
- 1:11:42[SPEAKER_00]: First, the magnitude of this game of the Bill's win.
- 1:11:46[SPEAKER_00]: Like the bills are not going on the feet of this year.
- 1:11:48[SPEAKER_00]: We know that.
- 1:11:49[SPEAKER_00]: I don't maybe they will, but chances are they are not going on the feet.
- 1:11:51[SPEAKER_00]: They're going to drop a couple of games.
- 1:11:53[SPEAKER_00]: They were obviously racing the one seed.
- 1:11:56[SPEAKER_00]: This game is going to be big for the one seed.
- 1:11:58[SPEAKER_00]: But it say you hit a couple of routes and you get some injuries later on the year.
- 1:12:03[SPEAKER_00]: Like you give yourself that margin of error.
- 1:12:08[SPEAKER_00]: which is so much greater if you win this game versus lose this game.
- 1:12:11[SPEAKER_00]: And if you drop a couple in the one seed's off the table, obviously the vision is goal number two at that point.
- 1:12:18[SPEAKER_00]: This game becomes enormous for that because now the Patriots, you talk about pressing.
- 1:12:22[SPEAKER_00]: They're going to feel like they've got a softer part of their schedule coming up.
- 1:12:26[SPEAKER_00]: And they're going to feel like they've got to press because they've got to keep pace.
- 1:12:30[SPEAKER_00]: So for me, if the bills can get this thing, which I expect them to, but it's going to be tight in my opinion, they get this win.
- 1:12:37[SPEAKER_00]: They have really set themselves up in a nice position.
- 1:12:41[SPEAKER_00]: Second thing, real quick, I want to go back to this crumpled card thing.
- 1:12:44[SPEAKER_00]: I'm going to be watching.
- 1:12:47[SPEAKER_00]: You know, these coaches, they always talk before the game.
- 1:12:49[SPEAKER_00]: That's part of things.
- 1:12:50[SPEAKER_00]: Like, hey, we'll do a quick hand shake after the game.
- 1:12:52[SPEAKER_00]: But let's, we talk beforehand.
- 1:12:54[SPEAKER_00]: I want to see how Brady and very will greet each other because I mentioned before.
- 1:13:00[SPEAKER_00]: I think this is overrated.
- 1:13:02[SPEAKER_00]: I'm frable to me, I've never met either him or Brady.
- 1:13:05[SPEAKER_00]: So I do not know this, but he seems like a guy.
- 1:13:08[SPEAKER_00]: I look at him and I look at kind of myself.
- 1:13:10[SPEAKER_00]: I'm like, he seems like he has the same sense of humor.
- 1:13:12[SPEAKER_00]: It's dry, sarcastic, witty.
- 1:13:15[SPEAKER_00]: I get the sense that Joe Brady is also the same thing.
- 1:13:17[SPEAKER_00]: Maybe a little more sarcastic, less witty.
- 1:13:20[SPEAKER_00]: But I feel like they're very similar.
- 1:13:23[SPEAKER_00]: personalities and senses of humor.
- 1:13:25[SPEAKER_00]: These coaches run in groups where they talk to each other.
- 1:13:28[SPEAKER_00]: They're in meetings together.
- 1:13:30[SPEAKER_00]: They do charity events together.
- 1:13:31[SPEAKER_00]: These guys mostly know each other.
- 1:13:33[SPEAKER_00]: And he's been in the AFCEs with variable.
- 1:13:36[SPEAKER_00]: He's coach against variable and other divisions before.
- 1:13:39[SPEAKER_00]: Like this to me, almost screams like, hey, we are buddy, maybe not best friends, but you have a relationship with someone you can joke with them.
- 1:13:47[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 1:13:48[SPEAKER_00]: And it's almost like, I walk by, I do this because I'm friendly with you.
- 1:13:51[SPEAKER_00]: And it's almost like a welcome to the club like hazing.
- 1:13:55[SPEAKER_00]: I think this is so overblown, but I'm going to guess they are friends it.
- 1:13:58[SPEAKER_00]: And I would almost bet you kind of get like the handshake bro hug before the game when they're chatting and laughing it up.
- 1:14:04[SPEAKER_01]: could be, could be, and then they could punch him in the throat throughout the entire game and get him as deep in his bag.
- 1:14:11[SPEAKER_01]: Or Pete Carmichael can say, hey, guess what, Joe?
- 1:14:14[SPEAKER_01]: I have this whole list of stuff that we're gonna run.
- 1:14:17[SPEAKER_01]: Let's try to do it.
- 1:14:17[SPEAKER_01]: So, did you want to talk about, so we're gonna do this, this has nothing to do with the Buffalo Bills.
- 1:14:24[SPEAKER_01]: But this is this is Greg's thing that he's going to we're going to have this every week until the jet's getting in reception.
- 1:14:30[SPEAKER_01]: So hopefully we can share this all season long and hopefully it doesn't happen against the bill.
- 1:14:35[SPEAKER_00]: I hope so.
- 1:14:36[SPEAKER_01]: Hopefully it does not happen against the bills.
- 1:14:38[SPEAKER_00]: I say no.
- 1:14:39[SPEAKER_01]: I don't think I don't think that they're going to get an interception this week.
- 1:14:43[SPEAKER_01]: For a defensive minded head coach, it doesn't make any sense.
- 1:14:47[SPEAKER_01]: It actually doesn't make any sense.
- 1:14:48[SPEAKER_01]: But anyways, I don't want to go into the weeds on that.
- 1:14:53[SPEAKER_00]: Okay, so the last interception if AI is right was January fit 2025 so it's it's probably what last game that was this game.
- 1:15:02[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, that was the 24th.
- 1:15:03[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, okay, of course season.
- 1:15:05[SPEAKER_00]: So we're at least I don't know where at least 20 games.
- 1:15:08[SPEAKER_00]: I hope this goes all year because I want to see that graphic every season unfortunately, I think they get the pick this week.
- 1:15:18[SPEAKER_00]: All right, so I'm feeling it, but I hope the God they don't, but I think they get the pick this week.
- 1:15:23[SPEAKER_01]: We're at at least 20 games and then one more thing to in the chat.
- 1:15:26[SPEAKER_01]: If you guys want, let us know where you're watching the bills from.
- 1:15:29[SPEAKER_01]: We're going to do this every week too.
- 1:15:30[SPEAKER_01]: We, I put this out on Facebook and it does really well.
- 1:15:33[SPEAKER_01]: A lot of the bills community comes out and let's us know.
- 1:15:36[SPEAKER_01]: Not just in the United States, but all over the world where they're watching the bills from each and every week.
- 1:15:41[SPEAKER_01]: I think that's kind of cool.
- 1:15:42[SPEAKER_01]: Drop it.
- 1:15:43[SPEAKER_01]: Drop yours in the comments.
- 1:15:44[SPEAKER_01]: All right.
- 1:15:44[SPEAKER_01]: So I still only have this.
- 1:15:47[SPEAKER_01]: So I'm gonna change this and add some more teams every week to the Sean McDermott Coaching Watch because I feel like he's gonna be the highest sought after coach.
- 1:15:58[SPEAKER_01]: this offseason without a doubt.
- 1:16:00[SPEAKER_01]: Unless somebody random, and if he does go to Green Bay, that means the law floor would be available.
- 1:16:06[SPEAKER_01]: So who knows?
- 1:16:07[SPEAKER_01]: Some of these guys like to take the year off from coaching.
- 1:16:11[SPEAKER_01]: I would put Mike Tomlin up there too.
- 1:16:13[SPEAKER_01]: When he's not building minecraft cities, I don't know if you guys saw that, but apparently Mike Tomlin, watch that video last night, Dave.
- 1:16:21[SPEAKER_01]: He spent Mike Tomlin, spent 12 years building
- 1:16:28[SPEAKER_01]: and the stadium and the whole, like it's amazing, Mike Tomlin, who would have known he's got a YouTube channel and all this stuff like it's crazy.
- 1:16:36[SPEAKER_00]: But anyways, so my son showed me that video last time.
- 1:16:40[SPEAKER_00]: Mike, there's no way he did this and then he was like, oh, I could do it.
- 1:16:43[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, it's legit years.
- 1:16:45[SPEAKER_00]: That that is a night like damn good job by him.
- 1:16:48[SPEAKER_00]: Man, that thing took patience.
- 1:16:50[SPEAKER_00]: It's got to be how he he finds his end.
- 1:16:53[SPEAKER_00]: That was nice though.
- 1:16:54[SPEAKER_00]: If you haven't seen it, check out the video.
- 1:16:55[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah,
- 1:16:58[SPEAKER_00]: When I met my wife, she was a Patriots fan.
- 1:17:01[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, boy.
- 1:17:03[SPEAKER_00]: And she went to a college in Boston with up there for a few years after college.
- 1:17:07[SPEAKER_00]: She really enjoys Boston.
- 1:17:09[SPEAKER_00]: And she was living there when Brady had his ascension.
- 1:17:13[SPEAKER_00]: So when we met, she was a past fan.
- 1:17:16[SPEAKER_00]: I'm obviously a Bills fan.
- 1:17:17[SPEAKER_00]: At some point, maybe after we got engaged, like you got to be a Bills fan now.
- 1:17:21[SPEAKER_00]: She's like, all right, I'll try.
- 1:17:22[SPEAKER_00]: And I think it was,
- 1:17:24[SPEAKER_00]: It was like maybe three weeks in the season and we're on the couch and she just turns to me.
- 1:17:29[SPEAKER_00]: She's like, these guys She's some vulgarity, but she's like these guys f and suck.
- 1:17:35[SPEAKER_00]: How can you root for him?
- 1:17:36[SPEAKER_00]: And I'm like, just come back to me in the past man So she is she is once they sucked she bounced off that band wagon.
- 1:17:44[SPEAKER_00]: She's on the bills now, but good
- 1:17:47[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, but yeah, I've got my, so hardly come at it as wife of a Pat's fan.
- 1:17:52[SPEAKER_00]: I feel you, man.
- 1:17:54[SPEAKER_01]: Um, the president of built in Buffalo, Lance, if you guys know Lance from the triple coverage podcast and he goes in does all tell gets his wife is also a Patriots fan.
- 1:18:01[SPEAKER_00]: There you go.
- 1:18:02[SPEAKER_01]: My wife, I can probably say hates the Patriots, Tom Brady and everything they stand for.
- 1:18:06[SPEAKER_01]: So,
- 1:18:07[SPEAKER_01]: have that going.
- 1:18:10[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, did you see the Micahide comments that he made about the Patriots?
- 1:18:14[SPEAKER_01]: Well, we can close on this because it's funny.
- 1:18:17[SPEAKER_01]: So Micahide's in the Buffalo Plus podcast.
- 1:18:19[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know if it's weekly or when it is, but and they asked him about because Tom Brady announced the game last week.
- 1:18:26[SPEAKER_01]: Grunk was doing like the sideline reporting and all that stuff before the game and he
- 1:18:33[SPEAKER_01]: Micahide was like, no, like, this is stupid.
- 1:18:36[SPEAKER_01]: Get these guys out of here.
- 1:18:37[SPEAKER_01]: We hate them.
- 1:18:38[SPEAKER_01]: And I just thought it was awesome to see Micahide who's retired, who's beloved and Buffalo.
- 1:18:43[SPEAKER_01]: Like, I think I can't name one Buffalo Bill's fan who does not like Micahide.
- 1:18:48[SPEAKER_01]: Like, obviously, we know the history of ground hitting Tridavius White, that cheap shot.
- 1:18:53[SPEAKER_01]: We know the history of Michael Hyde against the Patriots, that interception in the Bill's perfect game, which by the way, I have the poster behind me of the Bill's perfect game of all their scoring drives.
- 1:19:05[SPEAKER_01]: Um, it was funny.
- 1:19:06[SPEAKER_01]: He was just like, come on, man, we hate you.
- 1:19:09[SPEAKER_01]: We don't want you here, and now obviously Fox is the ones that put them up, but it was weird
- 1:19:18[SPEAKER_01]: the sidelines stuff like it's just something felt weird to me like it was a weird or of having them there.
- 1:19:23[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know.
- 1:19:23[SPEAKER_01]: I can't explain it was awkward.
- 1:19:26[SPEAKER_00]: There is a unique, like obviously the bills are good now, so it's fun to say, like it's great being a fan of us team.
- 1:19:33[SPEAKER_00]: There is very much like a college atmosphere or the skills fans, which is really awesome because like I've moved around the country a lot, I pay the friends in other cities and my best friends are not from Buffalo, some are, but some are not.
- 1:19:50[SPEAKER_00]: And they go back to Bill's games and they still want to go to Bill's games every year.
- 1:19:53[SPEAKER_00]: So like, oh, it's so fun.
- 1:19:54[SPEAKER_00]: You know, which is awesome.
- 1:19:56[SPEAKER_00]: I will say, like, there are players of teams that still pull for the team and they go on local radio and stuff like that.
- 1:20:05[SPEAKER_00]: I don't see players like former players of a team be cheerleaders for the team.
- 1:20:11[SPEAKER_00]: And maybe I'm just not noticing it.
- 1:20:12[SPEAKER_00]: Like,
- 1:20:13[SPEAKER_00]: bills players are.
- 1:20:14[SPEAKER_00]: You have Fitzpatrick showing up before he retires shirtless at a playoff game in Buffalo.
- 1:20:21[SPEAKER_00]: You know, and he's obviously, but you have high going on, be like, no, I still hate these guys.
- 1:20:26[SPEAKER_00]: Like he's coming on Buffalo.
- 1:20:27[SPEAKER_00]: But I feel like there's a bigger cheerleader effect with that players with bills than other players.
- 1:20:32[SPEAKER_00]: Like he jumped away work for the Broncos.
- 1:20:34[SPEAKER_00]: He still lives there.
- 1:20:36[SPEAKER_00]: But like he's not cheerleading for him.
- 1:20:38[SPEAKER_00]: He's just like, yeah, I love this organization.
- 1:20:39[SPEAKER_00]: I love the owners.
- 1:20:42[SPEAKER_00]: So I don't know.
- 1:20:42[SPEAKER_00]: It's a unique to me.
- 1:20:44[SPEAKER_00]: It's a unique feel in a unique vibe that you don't really see in other markets.
- 1:20:49[SPEAKER_01]: It's the fans.
- 1:20:50[SPEAKER_01]: I think it's the fan base.
- 1:20:51[SPEAKER_01]: Honestly, I do.
- 1:20:52[SPEAKER_01]: I'm not saying the organization doesn't treat these guys well, but Roy Collins, I agree with you 100% this is why I will never like Tom Brady.
- 1:20:59[SPEAKER_01]: I don't care how funny he might be.
- 1:21:01[SPEAKER_01]: I don't care how much he praises Josh Allen and all these things that they do when they play golf and all the offseason
- 1:21:12[SPEAKER_01]: This is petty to me, like we know how good you were.
- 1:21:16[SPEAKER_01]: We all live through it, Tom.
- 1:21:18[SPEAKER_01]: We all watch you dominate the bills for two decades.
- 1:21:21[SPEAKER_01]: Like we live through it, thank you.
- 1:21:22[SPEAKER_01]: We don't need to hear you tell us every chance you get about how you dominated this team and you're just better than us and all that stuff.
- 1:21:29[SPEAKER_01]: That's why, I don't know, I feel like too, like,
- 1:21:33[SPEAKER_01]: somebody on social media on Sunday was like in a kind of caught traction was like somebody come get Tom Brady because at some point as a commentator are you supposed to be saying that this quarterback just threw a meatball sub like I mean I understand it's Tom Brady and he makes a bazillion dollars a year and he's
- 1:21:54[SPEAKER_01]: probably arguably one of the greatest quarterbacks of if not of all time, but like, aren't you supposed to be subjective?
- 1:22:00[SPEAKER_01]: Like aren't you supposed to be like, he all threw a bad passer, it was a bad read or whatever.
- 1:22:05[SPEAKER_01]: You don't say, oh, he's just serving up meatballs subs.
- 1:22:07[SPEAKER_01]: Like that's not professional at all.
- 1:22:09[SPEAKER_01]: I'm sorry.
- 1:22:10[SPEAKER_01]: Like I'm a big boy and I could take it and I thought it was funny, because it wasn't Josh Allen that threw the pass.
- 1:22:14[SPEAKER_01]: It was Justin Herbert, but it's like, somebody come get Tom Brady.
- 1:22:18[SPEAKER_01]: Some of the other stuff he says too is just like outlandishly ridiculous.
- 1:22:22[SPEAKER_00]: I will defend, I can't stand Tom Brady.
- 1:22:25[SPEAKER_00]: I will defend him on this one, though.
- 1:22:30[SPEAKER_00]: If JJ water's there, and he's like, he just threw a meatball sub.
- 1:22:34[SPEAKER_00]: I think everyone's gone.
- 1:22:35[SPEAKER_00]: This guy is awesome.
- 1:22:36[SPEAKER_00]: He's not giving me the same thing.
- 1:22:38[SPEAKER_00]: The same crap that all these announcers do.
- 1:22:41[SPEAKER_00]: And I'd rather listen to guy tell me he throws meatball sub and there's salami left in the field.
- 1:22:49[SPEAKER_00]: I don't even know what that means, but like I'd rather hear that than be like, oh, you know, he kind of underthrew him there because that's all I'm getting from most of these guys.
- 1:22:58[SPEAKER_00]: And I think JJ, why he does that.
- 1:23:01[SPEAKER_00]: I think people are praising him for him.
- 1:23:02[SPEAKER_00]: Be like, hey, he's just calling it out.
- 1:23:03[SPEAKER_00]: He's calling it like he sees it.
- 1:23:05[SPEAKER_00]: I can't stand listen, Tom Brady.
- 1:23:06[SPEAKER_00]: I don't like listening to him call, but I actually like that one.
- 1:23:10[SPEAKER_00]: I'm going to defend him on that one.
- 1:23:11[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know.
- 1:23:12[SPEAKER_00]: I do like JJ, why?
- 1:23:14[SPEAKER_01]: I think he's doing really well with Jim Nance.
- 1:23:17[SPEAKER_01]: I hope that
- 1:23:19[SPEAKER_01]: I hope that they keep that duo together.
- 1:23:21[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know how long Tony Romo's gonna be out for because of the stuff that's going on with him.
- 1:23:26[SPEAKER_00]: So we'll see, but... All right, then we're gonna do a Patrick Mahomes Retires and we'll start listening to him all the time.
- 1:23:33[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know what we can do with this.
- 1:23:35[SPEAKER_01]: I don't make it.
- 1:23:36[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I don't know, maybe Chris Collins worth will stop talking about him at some point, probably not, until he retires.
- 1:23:42[SPEAKER_00]: What a great announcer.
- 1:23:44[SPEAKER_00]: Oh my God.
- 1:23:49[SPEAKER_01]: I can't do it.
- 1:23:50[SPEAKER_01]: All right, that's going to do it for us.
- 1:23:51[SPEAKER_01]: No more impressions.
- 1:23:52[SPEAKER_01]: We're going to get out of here.
- 1:23:53[SPEAKER_01]: It's been a great week.
- 1:23:54[SPEAKER_01]: We had awesome guests this week.
- 1:23:58[SPEAKER_01]: It was a long week.
- 1:23:59[SPEAKER_01]: It was very fulfilling though.
- 1:24:01[SPEAKER_01]: A lot of support for the brand this week.
- 1:24:03[SPEAKER_01]: So a lot of support for the podcast.
- 1:24:05[SPEAKER_01]: We appreciate everybody that shows out each week.
- 1:24:08[SPEAKER_01]: We'll be back Monday.
- 1:24:09[SPEAKER_01]: Hopefully it'll be a victory Monday.
- 1:24:10[SPEAKER_01]: So.
- 1:24:12[SPEAKER_01]: If you guys want to join this Monday or right back here at noon, so Greg, you're going to take us out here, man.
- 1:24:20[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I got thrown to the wolves.
- 1:24:22[SPEAKER_00]: Yes, I still didn't prepare anything today.
- 1:24:23[SPEAKER_00]: I take us out of here.
- 1:24:24[SPEAKER_00]: But as Dave said, please share the show with friends, family, share us on Tagas and social media because that's how we grow and that's how we, uh, we'd like to have some fun here.
- 1:24:33[SPEAKER_00]: So we'll talk to you on Monday, 12 Eastern until then.
- 1:24:38[SPEAKER_00]: Go bills.
- 1:24:38[SPEAKER_00]: Go bills.
- 1:24:53[SPEAKER_00]: Thank you.
